A magistrates’ court in Makurdi, Benue state, on Friday handed a one-year jail sentence to three herders – Iliya Garba, Hassan Abdullahi, and Lanshak Lonfalk – for violating the law enacted in 2017.

The convicts were charged with criminal conspiracy and open nomadic livestock rearing and grazing.

The offences are punishable under sections 97 of the penal code and 19 (2) of the Open Grazing Prohibition Ranches Establishment Law of Benue, 2017.

Michael Iorundu, the prosecutor, told the court that the joint patrol team of “Operation Zenda”, led by Edward Shinyi, arrested the herders on February 18.

He said they were brought to the state criminal and investigation department, Makurdi.

“The team reported that the three herders, and others now at large, were openly grazing their cattle along Yeluwata Road in Guma local government area of Benue,” he said.

“When the case came up for mention, the herders pleaded guilty to the charge against them, saying that they were not aware that open grazing had been prohibited in Benue.”

Lillian Tsumba, the magistrate, said the herders were first offenders who were also illiterates and not even aware that open grazing has been prohibited in Benue.

Tsumba said a law such as open grazing prohibition required massive exposure and education of persons at the grassroots.

She, however, said “the law is law” and must be obeyed in spite ignorance.

The magistrate sentenced the herders to a year imprison each, with N500,000 option of fine each.

Amaechi Threatens To Release Names Of Those Sabotaging Security
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 02-23-2018, 05:31 PM - No Replies

Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has said that cabals are frustrating the recently approved $198m maritime security contract.

Amaechi vowed to publicly mention names of saboteurs while speaking at a Maritime Stakeholders’ Interactive Forum held in Warri, Delta State on Thursday.

He said “Reason, why vessels will not come to the Eastern ports, is because there is war insurance due to insecurity in the ports here.

“The war insurance means if the goods cost N10,000 in Lagos, it will cost N20,000 here because there is an extra cost on it due to Insecurity issues. Even as a minister, I can’t enter a boat ride from Warri to Port Harcourt due to insecurity issues, but I can move around Lagos at any time of the day.

“I once asked a former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, why people from Anambra don’t import from Port Harcourt port, and he said it cost less to import from Lagos and move to Onitsha even with the price they pay on the road. It is cheaper to import from Lagos to Aba, yet Aba to Port Harcourt is a 30-minute drive.

“For shipowners, you need to do a petition to Mr President. The President approved a contract of $195m for maritime security, but there are people in the system sabotaging the contract because it will restore security in the water. I won’t say who they are until it gets out of control. We are still battling for the contract to take place, but if it gets out of place, we will name them publicly, including the security people involved.

“There are people who make billions of Dollars from the insecurity on the water, so they don’t want security on the water because if we secure the water, all their rubbish will go.

“There are businesses which provide the vessel for oil companies in the name of providing security. The moment we secure the water, they are out of jobs?

Evance Ivwurie Leads Security Agents To The Bush In Search Of ‘Killer’ Herdsmen

Yesterday, February 22, after discovering and removing the corpse of Mr. Happy Akpomieme who was killed by Fulani herdsmen in his farmland in Abraka, the Hon member representing Ethiope East State Constituency, Hon. Evance O. Ivwurie once again provided courageous leadership by leading a team of Vigilantes, Community Youths and Security personnel to comb the bush and farmlands from Abraka to Eku in search of the 'killer' herdsmen....

According to reports, on Wednesday, February 21st, Mr and Mrs. Happy Akpomiemie went to their Cassava farm with their 16 years old son Elvis Akpomieme.   Benue Killings: Army Providing Cover For Armed Herdsmen – Tiv Leaders
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 02-23-2018, 11:56 AM - No Replies

Leaders of the Tiv nation on Thursday accused the army of allegedly providing cover for armed herdsmen to take over the land naturally given to them by God.

They also expressed displeasure over the operation of a military exercise code-named “Cat Race” launched in the state by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) to restore peace in Benue State communities following attacks by armed Fulani herdsmen.

President of the Mzough U Tiv (MUT), Chief Edward Ujege, in a statement issued to the media in Makurdi, expressed reservations over the emerging trends of the military operation which he said has made the people be apprehensive about the real mission of troops deployed to the state.

Chief Ujege disclosed that since the flag off of the exercise, the military has been circulating pamphlets through its Department of Civil-Military Affairs, Army Headquarters which “confirmed that the military had come to provide cover for armed Fulani herdsmen to take over the land of the people.”

The translation on the pamphlets, Chief Ujege emphasized, portrayed a purported dialogue between the Fulani herdsmen and Benue farmers on their alleged resolution to shift grounds one both farming and cattle grazing activities in the state.

Part of the translation of the pamphlets reads:

Tiv farmer: I’m your brother and a farmer; my farm produce is just as important as your cattle.

Fulani herder: I will no longer destroy your farm produce and longer kill your people. You are my brother, we should live in peace.

Tiv farmer: I too will no longer rustle or kill your cattle. You are my brother, let us live in peace.

Ujege said it was clear from the flyer that the military has acknowledged that the Fulani herdsmen are responsible for the large-scale massacre and massive destruction in of farm crops in the state.

He regretted that instead of addressing issues of justice, reparation and compensation, the federal government is compelling people of the state to accommodate the perpetrators of the heinous atrocities.

“Moreover, there is no reference to the Open Grazing Prohibition and Establishment of Ranches Law 2017, which addresses the fundamental issues of making both the farmers and the herders coexist in peace. The military is not only silent on the law but has encouraged open grazing with all its concomitant consequences. This silence on the law points to the fact that they are not in its support and are not ready to ensure its enforcement”.

But the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 707 Special Forces Brigade, Major Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni, in a swift reaction, countered the position of the Tiv leader saying “Operation Cat-race is not in support of any group”.

The Army spokesman, Major Ayeni said the role of the army in the crisis is to ensure the return of enduring peace in sacked communities and safe return of the Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs.

“All that the army needs to do here is to ensure that no Benue resident is killed or displaced from their homes, that is all we are doing. We want to ensure peaceful coexistence among the herders and farmers. We are not saying the Fulani herdsmen should not obey the anti-open grazing law enacted by the Benue State government.

“Let me inform you that we had arrested a Fulani herdsman yesterday and two others that wanted to attack Governor Ortom’s farm in Guma and with all these successes you should know that Operation Ayem A Kpatuma is not in support of any group and is not in the pursuit or criticising any group.”

“Our role is to make sure that Benue State is peaceful and one of the ways we are going about it is for the herders to know that either a Tiv man or an Idoma man or Igede man is a Nigerian like him and a herder who is not violent now is their brother.

“However in the course of the military exercise if we find a violent herdsman that want to kill or displace any person in Benue State, we get him arrested and that is why we arrested two people two weeks ago, and arrested another one for preventing the Tiv people from been peaceful in their own environment.

“So the way and manner we go in achieving a peaceful environment in Benue State especially in Guma and Logo local government areas of the state and Katsina-Ala local government is by using this psychological method to test these people that we are friends, don’t fight or pursue the other because we are one family. But however, if you saw anyone who want to kill you, report and we will get that person arrested and deal with him according to the law”, said Major Ayeni.

Dana Air incident: Stakeholders interrogate Aviation agencies’ culpability On February 23, 20186:34 amIn NewsComments By Lawani Mikairu As Nigeria Accident Investigation Bureau, AIB, on Wednesday dispatched two of its investigators to Port Harcourt International Airport to commence investigation into the Dana Air plane incident at the airport, Aviation stakeholders have started interrogating the culpability of the various aviation agencies who have the responsibility to ensure safe flight operations at the airport. A very senior official of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, whose name cannot be in print for obvious reasons, has raised some posers he said he expects the AIB, to answer. Yet another view of the Dana plane in the bush According to the NCAA director, “As a major incident, the Accident Investigation Bureau has to carry out an investigation to ascertain the cause(s) of the incident. At the moment, all the aviation agencies are suspects viz; has NCAA been carrying out due diligence on aircraft and crew, is FAAN up to date in the provision of the required infrastructure for safe operations in Port Harcourt Airport”? While thanking God that all passengers and crew aboard the flight were evacuated and are safe, he further asked: “Has Nigeria Airspace Management Agency, NAMA, provided the necessary Instrument Landing Systems for safe operations during inclement weather? Was the weather report at the moment of incident as given by Nigeria Meteorological Agency, NIMET, up to date and correct?” According to him, “these and other issues” including the culpability or otherwise of the airline must be determined before any blame can be apportioned and appropriate measures recommended to avoid future occurrence. Confirming the commencement of the investigation, Mr. Tunji Oketunbi, General Manager, Public Affairs, AIB, said two of the bureau’s accident investigators have been sent to Port Harcourt Airport , the scene of the incident, to make sure no evidence is tampered with. They are to also commence immediate investigation as to why the Dana aircraft overshot the runway. Oketunbi further said until the investigation is done, preliminary report as to the cause of the incident cannot be released by AIB, as is the aviation practice worldwide and in keeping with the International Civil Aviation Organisation, ICAO, recommended procedure. Recall, on Tuesday night, a Dana Air aircraft with registration numbere 9J0363, flying from Abuja to Port Harcourt Airport overshot the Port Harcourt Airport runway. According to Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, the incident “was suspected to have been caused by a heavy rain, which was accompanied by strong wind and storm in Port Harcourt.” She however added that no casualty was recorded, as all passengers on board were safely evacuated.

Nigerian Stock Exchange

Stanley Opara
The equities market on Thursday continued on its positive trajectory as Japaul Oil & Maritime Service Plc, Wapic Insurance Plc and Total Nigeria Plc emerged as the best performing stocks.
At the close of trading on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, a total of 342.101 million shares valued at N3.095bn exchanged hands in 4,943 deals.

Japaul, Wapic and Total’s shares appreciated respectively by 5.4 per cent, 4.9 per cent and 4.8 per cent while the worst performing stocks – Unic Diversified Holdings Plc, Courtville Business Solutions Plc and AG Leventis Nigeria Plc – depreciated respectively by 6.7 per cent, 5.6 per cent and five per cent.
Market breadth turned positive compared to Wednesday as 24 stocks trended northwards against 17, which plummeted.
“The market is likely to trade sideways to end the week. Market outlook however remains positive in the immediate term,” analysts at FSDH Group said in a post.
In the same vein, Meristem Securities said, “The gains witnessed during Thursday’s trading session can be attributed to the positive sentiment which permeated all sectors, save for the consumer goods sector. We forestall that the current market mood will be sustained tomorrow and envisage a positive close to the week, given the market’s performance thus far.”
Thus, analysts at Afrinvest Securities stated that, “We expect the market to sustain a positive close to the week as investors seek for bargain opportunities in the market ahead of full year earnings releases.”
The NSE All-Share Index rose by 0.2 per cent to settle at 42,258.78 from 42,158.32 basis points while the year-to-date return improved to 10.5 per cent.
As a result, investors gained N36.1bn in value as market capitalisation rose to N15.165tn from 15.129tn.
Sustained buying interest in banking stocks, especially in United Bank for Africa Plc, FBN Holdings Plc and Zenith Bank Plc, which drove the respective shares upwards by 3.2 per cent, 3.1 per cent and 3.1 per cent, was the main driver of the market’s positive performance.

However, activity level softened as volume and value traded slumped by 40 per cent and 41.9 per cent to 342.101 million units and N3.095bn, respectively.
Performance across sectors was largely positive as all indices, except for the consumer goods index which shed 0.3 per cent, appreciated. The consumer goods index recorded losses in Nigerian Breweries Plc and Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc, which depreciated respectively by 1.3 per cent and 2.7 per cent.
The banking and oil/gas indices appreciated 0.7 per cent apiece due to a rally in Zenith, UBA and Total shares.
Similarly, bargain hunting in Wapic and Aiico Insurance Plc, boosted their share prices by 4.9 per cent and 4.3 per cent, accordingly, as the insurance index advanced by 0.3 per cent.  Also, the industrial goods index rose by 0.2 per cent as Lafarge Africa Plc appreciated by 0.5 per cent.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL (FEBRUARY PDF => http://bit.ly/2cuJG6M

*YIELD TO THE SPIRIT FOR GUIDANCE AND DIRECTION .*

Friday, February 23rd .
Pastor Chris

_*For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God (Romans 8:14).*_

The human mind, at its very best, is limited and as a result can’t be a sure guide for the Christian. Due to the limitation of human understanding, we’re unable to tell those things that are good for us, or make the right choices until we look into the Word and allow the Holy Spirit to guide us.

Jesus said, _*“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come”*_ (John 16:13). Yielding to the Spirit for guidance and direction will make all the difference in your life: your path will be forever flooded with light. You’ll be able to discern and walk in God’s perfect will at all times. Your life will be void of struggles as you journey on the clear path of progress, victory and success, because you have the light of life.

Jesus said, _*“...I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life...”*_ (John 8:12). In His light, we see light, and His Word is light. Psalm 119:130 AMPC says, _*“The entrance {and} unfolding of Your words give light; their unfolding gives understanding (discernment and comprehension) to the simple.”*_ God’s Word has the ability to bring illumination to your spirit and give you insight into reality. This is why you must allow the Word to dwell in you richly.

The Word and the Spirit are one; when you open your heart to the Word and to the Holy Spirit, the storms of life will never be able to obscure your vision. How far do you want to go in life? How successful do you want to be? The Lord can take you much farther than you could ever imagine. He’s more passionate for your success than you can imagine, and it’s His delight to help you become a success.

Invite Him to help, lead, and guide you in the choices you make and in the decisions you take. He said in Isaiah 1:19, _*“If you will only let me help you, if you will only obey, then I will make you rich!”*_ (TLB). This is His desire. Trust Him, and He’ll make you a wonder to your generation.

*PRAYER*

*Blessed Holy Spirit, how lovely you are to me! You’re so great and I acknowledge you as my Lord, Teacher, Helper and Guide! Thank you for guiding me into all truth, teaching me to make the right choices and decisions that are consistent with your perfect will for me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *John 14:16-18* And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 [Even] the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. *||*

Video Elections Reorder Undermines INEC’s Independence – Jega
User Avatar Forum: Politics

Quote:The immediate past Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, has questioned the power of the National Assembly to alter the sequence of the 2019 elections.

Jega made his position known at an event organised by the Youth Initiative for Advocacy Growth and Development in Abuja on Thursday.

Speaking at the event with the theme, ‘Is Nigeria’s Democracy Under Threat?’ Jega said the National Assembly’s action undermined the independence of INEC.

He added that several sections of the 1999 Constitution clearly state that the power to organise and set the date for elections remain the exclusive preserve of INEC.

The former INEC boss also stated that the cost of election would be higher if the National Assembly succeeds in changing the election sequence.

5 Horrible Advice You Should Never Accept About Money
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 02-22-2018, 10:25 PM - No Replies

Quote:[Image: 1859d0_78757c1c862c4d34a92fb08bcd7d1ebc.jpg]

When it comes to matters requiring an advice, almost everybody becomes a counsellor. Opinions are so cheap that everybody has one. The remarkable thing is that you don’t even need to solicit for advice; people will always give it to you without your request, free of charge.

And when too many people advise you, it can spell trouble because 80% of what people say are things they are not practicing and consequently have no chance of working. In more grave terms, some of the advice that people give are potent poisons that are capable of ruining the receiver. This is why it is an act of wisdom to regularly check if you have received wrong counsel and do a detoxification of your mind.

Since money is obviously the most important goal of all businesses, Nigeria Online Business wants to share 5 common horrible advices about money you should look out for and reject.

1. Comparison advice

This kind of advice is the type that takes its merit from those around you. The value of the advice originates from what others are doing. In other words, it sets others as a standard for yourself and tells you all is fine since someone is in the same predicament as you are. It tries to give you comfort by telling you that you are not alone in the financial problems you’re facing. So, this advice will okay it that it is fine if you are broke since Mister A is broke.

You need to learn to cancel such thoughts and avoid such counsels. Your greatest competition must be yourself and not someone else. You must seek to be better than how you were yesterday and not another person. No two lives are the same and no two people get the same opportunity in life even if they share the same background and age. It is therefore wrong to judge two people using the same parameters.

2. Retirement Advice

Many people work hard towards enrolling in a pension scheme with the hope that they would be able to save money they can spend in their old age. The idea of pension is the best but it is not the most ideal in Nigeria, especially if you’re a civil servant. We’ve all heard various pension stories.

A renowned financial analyst in the US once argued that it’s unreasonable for people to save 10% of their income monthly for about 30 years and expect to live on it full-time for the next 20-25 years.

While you should have savings stacked up for your retirement, you must also realize that your best retirement plan is in your hands. It’s best to have several streams of passive income that brings you money without raising a finger.

3. Government-Dependence Advice

Many of today’s old folks still hum this statement. They believed it and held on to it that the government owes them. They believe the government is the reason they are poor as though it is not under the same government that others are making it. The government may be a problem to the nation but it not personally your problem. So many people have succeeded without the government. So, what’s your excuse?

Smart people do not depend on the government, but take advantage of any profitable policy the government rolls out. The geniuses even look for the good in a bad policy and exploit it. Take control of your life. Plan it independent of the government and work towards it. Make a resolution that you will succeed, with or without the government. It may not be easy at first, but it will eventually be worth it.

4. Money-Demonizing Advice

Money has been demonized in some quarters. It has been talked down as being overhyped. Those who often say money is not everything are those that do not have it. Statements like, “money cannot buy happiness”, “vanity upon vanity is vanity” and other money demonizing statements keeps flying around.

If money cannot buy happiness, well, neither can poverty. If money cannot buy you sleep, neither can poverty. There is no sense in the fact that money is being talked down. Any advice that tries to downplay the relevance of money is terrible. Money is important. It is a big deal. It is only evil when anyone tries to get it illegally.

5. Time advice

Timing is a very important factor in life. The idea of timing should be to recognize when it is most suitable to take an action. But many counsels these days emphasize that a future time is coming for everything: “There is still time”. It is one of those ways of deliberately excusing one’s self from having to tackle the problems and opportunities that come to one’s path.

The simple truth is, there may not be a better time in future to make money than now. It is not that it would be impossible; it is that may be difficult. The Chinese proverb says, “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.” Now is the time to create the all-important passive income.

Bola Tinubu's Letter To John Odigie-Oyegun! "You Are Sabotaging My Assignment"
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 02-22-2018, 10:21 PM - No Replies

Quote:Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has written a scathing letter to the national chairman of the party, John Odigie-Oyegun, accusing him of sabotage, TheCable can report.

Tinubu, who copied the president, vice-president, senate president and speaker of the house of representatives, pointedly accused Odigie-Oyegun of contravening the spirit of the discussions both of them had at the party secretariat when President Muhammadu Buhari gave him the assignment of reconciling aggrieved members.

In the letter, dated February 21, 2018, the former governor of Lagos state said “disappointment greeted me when I discovered that you had swiftly acted in contravention of the spirit of our discussions. Instead of being a bulwark of support as promised, you positioned yourself in active opposition to the goal of resuscitating the progressive and democratic nature of APC”.

Tinubu said while Odigie-Oyegun mentioned Kogi, Kaduna, Kano and Adamawa as places affected by serious party issues, “you have taken it as your own personal ambition to thwart my presidential assignment in these key states”.

He accused the chairman of rushing to Kogi state to unilaterally inaugurate officials “parallel to the officials already heading the state chapter of the party”.
“While this may place you in significant affinity with those parallel officials you handpicked, this machination suggests no improvement in the welfare of the party in Kogi or at the national level,” Tinubu wrote.

Tinubu said Odigie-Oyegun apparently seeks “to undermine my mandate by engaging in dilatory tactics for the most part. When forced to act, you do so in an arbitrary and capricious manner”.

The third republic senator said even if Odigie-Oyegun had personal qualms with him, it is his right as a human being but “you have no such right the chairman of this party… The party belongs to all of its members”.
He asked the former governor of Edo state to refrain from taking any more “improper unilateral decisions with regard to the national and state chapters of the party”.

He reminded Odigie-Oyegun that the assignment was given to him by Buhari, stating that “in furtherance… I request that you make available to me the status reports and all the pertinent information regarding the state chapters without further delay”.

TheCable understands that Tinubu, who is supporting Buhari for a second term, is not comfortable with Odigie-Oyegun’s continued leadership of the party, although pro-Buhari governors have impressed it on the president that it was better to elongate Odigie-Oyegun’s tenure than risk a new convention that could further fracture the party.

Tinubu’s relationship with Odigie-Oyegun has been on a downward trend since the APC primary election for Ondo governorship in 2016.

Segun Abraham, thought to be Tinubu’s preferred choice, was defeated in controversial circumstances by Rotimi Akeredolu, who went on to win the governorship election.

Russian Parents Pretend To Be Dead To Trick Son Who Planned To Assassinate Them
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 02-22-2018, 08:10 PM - No Replies

@Leofirms

Rich parents in Russia had to pretend to be dead in order to foil their son’s plot to ‘assassinate them’. They tricked the suspect with the help of the Police into believing he had hired an assassin to murder his wealthy parents and ten year old sister- so he could claim his inheritance.

Police Detectives found out about alleged plot and decided to stage the killing in the family home, then send the mock murder scene pictures to the son, who had no idea of the undercover snare.

A Russian Police officer played the role of the hired assassin in the Russian resort of Sochi, a host city for this year’s FIFA World Cup.

The son had instructed the perceived “contract killer’ in how and where his family should be murdered, it is alleged.

He agreed a fee with the undercover policeman for killing all three of his relatives, police said, and demanded to see pictures of his slain parents.

The man’s mother and father – “devastated” about their son’s alleged intent – played dead in the police mock-up and photographs of them, with blood gushing from “fatal” knife wounds, were taken.

The “assassin” arranged a meeting in a Mercedes and showed the photographs of his “slain parents” to the man.No pictures were released of the man’s sister and it is unclear if she took part in the police set-up.

After seeing the pictures, the suspect expressed “delight” and agreed to pay the promised £38,000 fee to the man he believed was a contract killer as soon as he had collected his inheritance.

Instead the son – who has not been named – was immediately detained by armed police as a police video shows.

He immediately confessed, according to police in Krasnodar region, who revealed that he had twice plotted to kill them previously.

“He wanted to get rid of parents because they were not giving him money,” said a police source.

“Before looking for a killer he tried to get of his relatives twice. “He looking on the internet to find out how to carry out the murders. “The criminal wanted to put pills in the kettle to poison his parents but his father found out something was wrong.

“Then the son planned to break a thermometer in his parents’ car so that they were poisoned with mercury vapours.”But he got cold feet.”

During interrogation the young man said: “I had been planning it for several months.

“I’m so done with them, they didn’t understand me, so I found a contract killer.”

His parents “cannot believe he could do this”, said police.

Buhari Angry As El-Rufai's Action Dents Tinubu's Peace Moves - Independent.ng
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 02-22-2018, 08:06 PM - No Replies

Quote:The crisis in Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) which culminated in the demolition of the factional secretariat of the party by the state government has further put a dent to the efforts by President Muhammadu Buhari to bring aggrieved members of the party on the same page ahead of the 2019 elections.

A member of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), who spoke with DAILY INDEPENDENT on Wednesday said the presidency is displeased with the actions taken by Governor Nasir el-Rufai which it believes will further worsen the APC crisis and make the work of the reconciliation panel headed by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu more difficult, if not an impossible one.

He added that the presidency believes that as someone who is regarded as one of the key loyalists of President Buhari, el-Rufai should not be seen as “a clog in the wheel of progress and developments of the party especially in Kaduna, the residence of the president”.

Our source said the presidency is particularly peeved that while el-Rufai, who was persuaded to contest for the governorship position of Kaduna State by President Buhari may not bother about seeking or winning reelection, he should consider the interest of the president who will soon announce his intention to seek another four-year mandate.

He also added that just like it did in the case between Governor Umar Ganduje of Kano State and his predecessor, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidency may summon the warring parties to Aso Villa with a view to finding a lasting solution to the crisis.

“As a member of this party, I must tell you that the presidency is unhappy with what is happening in Kaduna State and what they perceived as the insensitiveness of the state governor towards handling the issues he has with his rivals in Kaduna State.

“The president has a reason for setting up the reconciliation committee headed by Asiwaju Tinubu. Given what has happened in the past, many thought the former Lagos governor will reject it but he accepted to undertake the task in the interest of the party and respect for the president. He has already set the ball in motion and is already meeting with the affected stakeholders and we are seeing the positive results.

“We expect Governor el-Rufai to have done the same no matter how provoked he may be. Yesterday’s (Tuesday) action has further widened the gulf between stakeholders in the Kaduna APC family and it will be extremely difficult for the Tinubu committee to bring them on the same page.

“The issue has gone beyond Kaduna State. Don’t forget that the National Assembly has already waded into the matter. Before you know it, this may mar all the progress we have made so far and the election is already here.

“Here is a man who never showed interest in becoming the governor of Kaduna State. The president convinced him to run and to demonstrate his commitment, he went to Kaduna and raised his hands. Recently, the governor also said the president has endorsed his bid for another term. We expect him to also support the president’s reelection bid too not just by words but through actions.

“While he may have his genuine reasons for pulling down the structure, they believe he should have exercised some restraint as such actions will not only exacerbate the crisis, but it may also affect the fortunes of the party in the state”, he said.

"Buhari Made Tinubu A Mockery In Every Pepper Soup Joint"- APC Chieftain Ogbonna
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 02-22-2018, 08:02 PM - No Replies

Quote:A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, SKC Ogbonnia, has alleged that some people loyal to President Muhammadu Buhari, have focused there energies on “strategies to decimate the Tinubu-led brain trust that brought Buhari to power.”

Ogbonnia claimed that despite mapping out the strategy that brought Buhari into power, Tinubu was sidelined by the President and his loyalists.

In a statement he signed, the APC chieftain said Buhari made the former Lagos State Governor a “mockery in all pepper soup joints” after declaring that he is not the national leader of the party.

Ogbonnia also said the failure of the Buhari-led Federal Government has made Nigerians to mock Tinubu who was the architect of the party’s assumption to power.

The statement sent to DAILY POST reads, “Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu means different things to different people. But if dynamic opposition is the life-wire of a democracy, it is very fitting then to name him the saviour of Nigeria’s current democratic journey.

“Tinubu, more than any other Nigerian, nurtured and sustained the opposition movement that removed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from power. Before Tinubu’s party, All Progressive Congress (APC), there appeared to be no consequences for bad behaviour in Nigeria whatsoever. Despite mounting corruption and gross mismanagement of national resources, the PDP was boasting to rule Nigeria forever. And one cannot blame them. It was unfathomable, as at then, for an incumbent president to lose election in Nigeria. But not anymore!

“APC recognized the Tinubu genius, and had no problem conferring him with the title of the “National Leader”. But the honour would become queer in the course of 2015 election campaigns, because Bola Tinubu was neither the party’s national chairman nor the presidential candidate.

“Seasoned pundits had reasoned that Muhammadu Buhari, having been elected president, would assume the title of the National Leader while the Asiwaju would be anointed the chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees. Glaringly, that was not meant to be.

“Tinubu’s political sagacity was seen as a threat by the Buhari’s post-election inner caucus, a clique of primitive loyalists, whose visions appear concocted from the philosophies of Stone Age native doctors. Instead of the change agenda of the ruling party, the clique focused its energy on strategies to decimate the Tinubu-led brain trust that brought Buhari to power.

“The president had no reason to look back. Buhari was still gloating with precipitate pride having been greeted with a worldwide goodwill after declaring that he “belonged to no one”. Many took the memorable line as a quaint exit from the military arm of Nigeria’s corrupt oligarchy that needed to be carried along to dislodge PDP from power. Well, events since have shown that “I belong to no one” might have been referring to an imaginary freedom from Tinubu. The rest, they say, is history.

“This history is that party indiscipline, which had been a cancer of past regimes, became full grown as soon as Tinubu was sidelined. The opposition took advantage to wangle its men to critical leadership positions in both arms of the Legislature. The paradox is that a corrupt opposition party dictates the content and character of the much-anticipated change under the APC government. Even boards of vital government agencies, including strategic foreign posts, remained in the hands of the opposition over two years after Buhari assumed office.

“The president remained indifferent. To his advisers, the post-Tinubu Tsunami would eventually subside in time for the next election. This false hope prompted Buhari to openly admonish that Bola Tinubu was not the National Leader but merely one of the leaders of the party.

“The mockery of Tinubu became an appetizing ingredient in every pepper soup joint. But the man kept calm. And he had to. What could he possibly tell the political gods about his predicament? How could he face his long-standing left-leaning NADECO allies and the powerful Southwest media that he coopted to produce a Buhari presidency? How could he possibly reconcile his new fate in APC after enduring the worst political fire ever directed to a non-candidate in the history of Nigeria? How could Bola Tinubu reconcile the fact that, instead of Buhari, the Nigerian masses are mocking the Asiwaju himself for the failures of APC government?

“One can now relate to why I pity Tinubu; and I truly do. But what has followed is even more intriguing.

“The Asiwaju is now re-baptized “the National Leader”. With APC in crisis, combined with his waning popularity, President Buhari did an abrupt U-turn, turning to the same virally discredited Tinubu. The goal is to salvage the party and create a favorable image in time for 2019 elections.

“Buhari deserves commendation for the peace move. Tinubu, on his part, has embraced the assignment as a Christmas in June, and he has what it takes to weave the innocent opinions of party members as well as the Nigerian people towards common purpose. However, how that common purpose aligns with the president’s 2019 individual agenda is another aching dilemma.

“Nevertheless, as a fervent fan of Buhari from ages and a sapient adherent of Tinubu’s visions, and now a presidential aspirant under APC, let it not be misconstrued that I openly state as follows: The president can make the assignment less herculean by recognizing that Muhammadu Buhari has become the problem. Yes, there comes a time nonsense paves way to commonsense.

“The commonsense dictates that the Nigerians are dire need of a new breed president—regardless tribe or religion—who is roundly equipped to lead the country to greatness. The Nigerian people also yearn for a party that can earn their trust. APC can become that party once again, if Asiwaju Tinubu is seen as an agent of the truth. The truth is that the history already celebrates President Buhari for his sacrifice in rescuing Nigeria from the ruins under PDP, but the same history will commit him to its darkest side, if he ignores the warning signs and furthers any individual ambition that can propel PDP back to power.”

Quote:Ibrahim Gaidam, governor of Yobe state, says none of the students of Government Girls Science Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe state, in captivity of suspected Boko Haram insurgents, has been rescued.

The insurgents raided the school on Monday and abducted some of the students.

The government had initially said it was not sure if any student was kidnapped but Gaidam confirmed the abduction on Wednesday night.

However, he said the army had been able to secure the release some of the girls, even though he did not go into details.

“The Yobe state government hereby informs the public that some of the girls at Government Girls Science Technical College (GGSTC) whose school was attacked by Boko Haram terrorists last Monday have been rescued by gallant officers and men of the Nigerian Army from the terrorists who abducted them,” the governor had said in a statement which Abdullahi Bego, his spokesman, issued on his behalf.

“The rescued girls are now in the custody of the Nigerian Army. We will provide more details about their number and condition in due course.”

But speaking when he visited community on Thursday, Gaidam told family members of the students to keep praying that the girls should be found.

Abdul Dapchi, a resident, said Gaidam lost control of the crowd immediately he made the confession.

“We were all angry. How could they have deceived us all along?” asked the young man who said two of his sisters were among the captives.

From today henceforth, I cease to be a Catholic priest, in my spirit and in my soul. I forgive those who will criticise me, I live for God. I seek freedom for my soul. As I leave, I leave smiling. I am so happy that I am free.” .

Not stopping there, he revealed he won’t be continuing with the Catholic Church due to peace finding a way to desert him while he was there.

AN Ilorin-based passenger, Mrs. Titi Falokun who flew Air France, one of the international airline operating into Nigeria has cried out over her treatment with regards the issue of her missing and lost baggage while using the airline.
It has been discovered that Nigerian travellers are made to suffer untold hardship based on their person effect after traveling on the airline.
Mrs. Falokun who went on a procedure in the United States said she paid $200 for extra baggage from the Detroit airport in the United States via New York, Paris and to Lagos in January.
According to her, she had problems communicating with officials of the airline while waiting to board her flight to Nigeria. Her walker which was given to her in the hospital was collected from her at the airport in New York was not given to her despite the promise that it has been shipped to Lagos till date.
The traveler mentioned that all efforts to retrieve her baggage has proven abortive and she would prefer her baggage which contained some every essential medicals and other personal effects.
She said, “the inability to retrieve my baggage has caused some untold pain and I would prefer to get her baggage intact rather than any monetary compensation. I have been unable to get some of my drugs from Nigerian pharmaceutical stores since I returned in January.”

PDP To Lai Mohammed: "You Can't Sensor The Media, It's Called Freedom Of Speech

PDP Blast APC & Lai Muhammed - You Cannot Sensor The Media "Its Called Freedom Of Speech"

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP says the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, cannot censor the media to downplay the failures of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration. The truth is, the administration have failed and trying so hard to censor the media.

The party said APC's attempt to gag the media is pathetic, as no amount of censorship or bandying of false figures would stop Nigerians from reflecting on the real state of affairs in our country today. PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement on Thursday, described as scandalous that the Federal Government is attempting to slander the media and sway it with cooked-up figures, forgetting that media practitioners are also Nigerians, who are direct witnesses and victims of the woes of the APC as a party.

The statement reads;

Nigerians were shocked to watch the Minister of Information attempting to censor the media and sell unverifiable statistics to the media when a TV Continental (TVC) team visited his office on Tuesday.
We hope the minister saw the faces of his audience as he was reeling out his faulty statistics.

Nigerians know that the APC has failed and that the Buhari-led Presidency is directly responsible for the collapse of our economy, which was thriving under the PDP.

They know that the torrents started buffeting the nation from May 29, 2015 and no amount of propaganda and futile efforts to censor the media by the APC will change the facts.

While we note the minister’s snap that the media should contextualize their reporting, we ask; how else should the media contextualize the sudden collapse of the economy with the naira tumbling from N197/I USD in 2015 when PDP handed over power, to N360-N400/1USD, without placing the blame at the door steps of President Muhammadu Buhari and his dysfunctional APC?

How else should the media contextualize the fact that under the Buhari Government, over 8 million Nigerians lost their jobs between 2016 to 2017; 16 million were unemployed, 18 million more were underemployed, while another 27.44 million refused to work in 2016 for various reasons related to frustration in the polity?
How should the media contextualize the soaring costs of food, the rise in inflation rate from the N13.7% in May 2015 to the current 15.37%; the rise in fuel price from N86.50 under the PDP to N300-N400 per liter under the APC; the escalating of our foreign debt to $15.2bn, representing a 40% increase under President Buhari’s three years in office in addition to the pile-up of domestic debt which has scared away many contractors off their sites?

How would the APC want the media to contextualize the slaughtering of Nigerians in various parts of the country by marauders while its Federal Government refused to take any concrete steps to bring the perpetrators to book?

Sadly, instead of the APC to be sober and remorseful for its failures and seek help from well-meaning Nigerians, it is busy reeling out false indices while monitoring phone calls of journalists and other Nigerians under the guise of fight against hate speech.
In all, the facts speak for themselves, the APC has wrecked our nation and its resort to propaganda and false indices will not help as Nigerians are now rallied with the repositioned PDP, ahead of the 2019 general elections, to rescue and return the prosperous days when our citizens once held their heads tall among other citizens of the world.

  Mass Sack Looms At JAMB

Quote:Mass sack looms at JAMB

There are strong indications that many officials of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) found culpable in the misappropriation of public funds in their care will have their appointments terminated.
An audit team recently discovered that millions of naira generated from the sale of scratch cards to candidates that sat for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) could not be accounted for in several state offices.

A senior official of JAMB said investigators were not satisfied with explanations offered by some state coordinators and a clerk involved in the matter and thus, recommended the termination of their jobs.
The official said the monies in question, running into millions of naira, were realised from the sale of scratch cards between 2014 and 16.
The official said all these happened when the Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, was not at the helm.
He said Prof Ishaq “is running the most transparent administration, and any official involved in any dishonest transaction will have himself to blame,” he said.
JAMB spokesman, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, said those found guilty in the shoddy deals might lose their jobs and also face prosecution. He confirmed that officers involved in the inquiry were mostly state coordinators and a clerk.
A clerk attached to the board’s office in Benue State had reportedly told investigators that the sum of N36m was ingested by a “mysterious snake” which investigators said they had not seen.
In Ondo State, N1.3m is said to be missing. In the Edo State office, N31m was discovered missing, while in Kogi State, auditors failed to trace the whereabouts of N7m.
In Plateau State, some officials were said to have mismanaged about N16m and in Nasarawa State, N23m was discovered missing.
About N20m was missing in the Kano State office and in the Yobe office N613, 000 was confirmed missing. In Gombe State, N10.2m has not been accounted for.

Soldiers Frogmarch Pupil To Death In Imo; Zamfara Teacher Flogs Student To Death
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 02-22-2018, 03:05 PM - No Replies

Quote:The family of Queendaline Ekezie, a 15-year-old pupil of Army Day Secondary School, Obinze, Owerri, Imo State, are inconsolable after two soldiers in the school allegedly snuffed life out of her during a rigorous punishment.

The soldiers were reported to have asked her to frogmarch after she arrived at school late on Thursday.

The victim, who became exhausted after repeating theexercise several times, was said to have collapsed.

She was reportedly rushed to an army hospital where she died.

Her father, Hyginus, on hearing the news, passed out and was rushed to a hospital in the community for treatment.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Queendaline, who was in Junior Secondary School 3, was with a colleague, Delight Aguocha, a JSS 2 pupil, when the incident happened.

Aguocha told our correspondent that the rigour of the punishment killed her friend.

She said, “On that day, we had set out at 7am. We waited for a motorcycle to take us to school till it was 8am. When we became frustrated, we decided to board a commercial cab. But the driver did not leave the motor park until the car was filled with passengers.

“When we got to school at 9am, we met three sets of late comers on the ground. Two soldiers were asking each set to do frogmarch to a particular distance after which they picked their bags and entered their classes.

“When it was our turn, we were about reaching the finishing line when they said we were not doing it right and we should start again. After we repeated it, we went to pick our school bags, but one of the soldiers said he was still not satisfied.

“I completed the punishment the third time and I picked my bag and left. I suddenly discovered that my friend was not with me. When I returned to the place, I saw her crying. She started vomiting the food she ate that morning. She was saying, ‘my back, my chest.’ The soldiers were just staring at us.”

She added that while the 15-year-old groaned with pain, a teacher who was just arriving in the school, observed her and asked if she had been sick before the time.

Aguocha said she insisted that her friend was healthy, adding that the school principal, who also later arrived, joined in examining her.

The victim, who could no longer walk, was reportedly carried into the principal’s car en route to the army hospital.

The friend said Queendaline was given an injection and later put on a drip.

“After they put on the drip, she started vomiting blood. Blood was spurting out of her nostrils, mouth and ears. I called the teacher to inform her and she alerted a nurse who said her condition had worsened,” she added.

The victim’s sister, Immaculate, a Senior Secondary School 3 pupil in the school, said her sister was not given adequate medical attention which contributed to her death.

She said, “On that Thursday, she left for school before me. But because she had a delay, I got to school earlier.

“I was called around 10am that she was in the hospital. They didn’t put her on oxygen and the drip had stopped flowing. When I saw her, she was vomiting blood and shouting. She suddenly became still and the nurse asked us to leave. They announced that she was dead.”

Immaculate said her sister’s dream of becoming a lawyer and fighting for human rights had been destroyed, adding that the soldiers should be held responsible.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the remains of the victim were deposited in the Federal Medical Centre mortuary, Owerri.

Our correspondent was told that the news of the victim’s death shook her hometown in Umuoso Mgbuisii, in the Ohaji/Egbema LGA of Imo State.

It was learnt that the deceased was the second of five children.

Her mother, Applonia, was too distraught to speak with our correspondent.

But the brother, Okechukwu, said the family wanted Queendaline buried and the family compensated.

The Chairman of the Ohaji/Egbema LGA, Ebenezer Amadi, said he was “deeply saddened” by the death because the victim was his uncle’s daughter.

He said the community was awaiting the report of the autopsy to determine its next line of action.

He said, “The soldiers came to meet the family for a meeting, but the meeting could not hold because the girl’s father fainted out of shock. From what we heard, she was being punished for the first time when she slumped and died. So, I cannot make any categorical statement until we see the result of the autopsy.”

The 82 Division’s spokesman and Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sagir Musa, said it would be premature to comment on the incident as the Imo State Ministry of Education had planned to issue a statement on it on Thursday (today).

In a related development, a teacher at Government Day Secondary School, Sankalawa, in the Bungudu LGA of Zamfara has allegedly flogged a student to death.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the incident was revealed on Wednesday by the Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar-Gummi.

The deputy speaker, who spoke under Matters of Urgent Public Importance during the Assembly’s sitting in Gusau, said the House had received several reports on the issue.

According to him, another incident at Government Female Day Secondary School, Kwatarkwashi, led to the injury of a student in the school after the vice principal allegedly subjected her to heavy punishment.

Gummi said, “These problems, apart from discouraging our children from acquiring education, also revealed the poor attitude to work by teachers in this state.”

The Speaker, Alhaji Sanusi Rikiji, described the actions of the teachers as unfortunate and vowed that the Assembly would not allow the matter to pass.

“It is part of our responsibilities to ensure effective security and good learning atmosphere for our children for their future development, therefore, we cannot allow teachers to continue harassing our children from schools,” he said

BBNaija: Meet Cee-C Cynthia Nwadiora's Family, Her Parents, Brother And Sister

As Big Brother Naija housemate, Cynthia Nwadiora aka Cee-C, continues to remain one of the controversial contestant of the game, more and more facts are being dug up about her.

The lovely, who studied Law at Madonna University, has had tables turned in her relationship with fellow housemate, Tobi after the latter has been giving some serious curves lately; an act that was usual for her on him some weeks ago.

Well, like we said, more details about her are beginning to surface as she vies to be the winner of the reality TV show; photos of her family members have surfaced online and from the looks of it, she just might not be related to the live show host, Ebuka’s wife, Cynthia, nuclear wise.

In photos, meet her family; her dad shares the same name with her brother, Michael Nwadiora and Michael Nwadiora II, respectively… we meet with her elder sister recently, who’s her social media page handler.

Her elder sister said though she doesn’t approve some acts made by her sister in the house, she loves her regardless…

She wrote on the housemate’s page;
Now I have to write as Cee-C’s sister.

When my sister called me on phone that she was going for BBN, I was super excited. I thought to myself, finally someone in my family will become famous. Not that I was surprised, Cee-C has always been a go getter.

But I didn’t know the journey was going to be this rough. Like seriously rough!

The first week was horrible. I cried so many times. I screamed to my TV, “Cee-C please come home I can’t deal with this”. I was scared everyday for my sister. She’ll be torn apart by the hate speech when she comes home.

Someone even came to my DM once to tell me how he/she hates me, my sister, my family, my unborn children and Cee-C’s unborn children. No joke.

Some days I’m scared to even open any social media anymore. I even had to block a few people whose hate speech I couldn’t take anymore.

Then I spoke to a few persons. I thank God for that wisdom. Everything they told me gave me the strength to carry on.
It didn’t make the work easier but it sure brought in some fresh strength and thicker skin.

I’m sure if Cee-C stays there long enough, my skin would look that of a crocodile cos of how thick it’s getting. I love my sister, even though she has done things I wouldn’t approve of. But I love her still and she’s the one of the sweetest persons I know… Asides my hubby of course! Lol I’m proud of myself. If I was ever told I could take all the drama in, and not be in a Psychiatric Home I’d laugh you off like Elizabeth did to the Angel.

But here we are today. A lot of PROGRESS made. I still see more work to be done ahead.

My family, my business and even my daughter has seen less of me because I had to stand with my sister at this crucial point.

Please remind me next time to go and block the airport the next time my family member says she’s going for Big Brother…lol. Just kidding jor! Have a great day!

[Image: Sacked-PHCN-staff-electrocuted-while-doi...asnews.jpg]A former staff of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company BEDC, in Agbor, Delta State, who was dismissed in 2009, was, on Tuesday, electrocuted in Agbor. According to reports, the deceased, identified as Monday Ebor, was illegally working on high tension lines when electricity was restored.

Eboh who was wanted by BEDC for his illegal activities which destroyed many transformers, was said to be illegally diverting lines from one feeder to another when power was restored.

A staff of an electricity distribution company has passed away in the life of duty under circumstances that remain sketchy. Locals in Alagbaka, Ondo State wailed as they witnessed the demise of a worker of one of the DISCOs who was fixing a fault before he was electrocuted.

“It’s a sad noon in the Alagbaka area of Ondo State as a PHCN official got electrocuted,” a eye witness said.

It has also been reported in the past that an official of Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC, who has been identified as Kola, was electrocuted to death as he tried to connect wires from an electric pole to a new building, at the Government Reserve Area, GRA, located at Itanla along the Ondo/Akure highway, Ondo State.

The motorcycle of the electrocuted electricity company official, who was reportedly in
charge of the area on behalf of BEDC, was seen packed under a mango tree as officials from the BEDC later arrived the scene to remove his body from the pole.

Confirming the report, Manager of the Ondo Business District of BEDC, Chris Enuamaka, disclosed that Kola was on an illegal duty at the time of the electrocution.

Another unidentified staff of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), was electrocuted when he tried to undertake the illegal reconnection of power for a client without using protective gloves.

The unfortunate incident which many resident of Asaba, the capital of Delta State, describe as retributive justice, according to , happened when the PHCN worker was on the electric pole trying to join wires together.

At the time, there was no power but suddenly, electricity was restored and the poor guy was electrocuted on the spot.
His shouts for help brought out the residents but he had already died before help could come his way.

Armed Herdsmen Should Be Declared Terrorists – Itse Sagay

[Image: Professor-Itse-Sagay-696x518.jpg]The Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Anti-corruption (PACAC), Itse Sagay, has revealed what government ought to do to stop herdsmen/farmers’ clash.

According to him, the Federal Government should first brand killer-herdsmen a terrorist group then increase its fire-power in Benue State as a way of stalling further attack on innocent citizens by armed herdsmen.

In an interview with Vanguard, Prof. Sagay said: “My take on the herdsmen-farmer clash is that the Federal Government should now increase its fire power in Benue state and other trouble spots, because these armed terrorists are people who have no fear of any form of government, government’s reaction or position; they have no respect for the sanctity of life. These are just animals, wild animals. They are not better than jackals and animals in the forest. They don’t have any human emotion at all.

“The only thing they fear is if you come with fire power, you kill a few of them and the rest will run away.

“I think, with the military being brought into it and their moving into those forests, we are going to see a very sharp drop in their criminal actions.

“I absolutely agree that armed-herdsmen are a terrorist group, as far as I am concerned. What their objective is, if they have any, is to terrify the population, to kill innocent people, frighten them and make them submissive and totally broken. Yes, they are a terrorist group.”

Sultan: Corruption At A Very High Level In Nigeria… Things Are Not Okay
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 02-22-2018, 01:47 PM - No Replies

Quote:Sa’ad Abubakar III, the sultan of Sokoto, has lamented that corruption is at a “very high level” in Nigeria.

“Things are bad,” the monarch said while adding that Nigerians must fight the scourge of corruption to a “terminal end”.

The sultan made the remark on Wednesday while speaking at the public presentation of ‘Dynamics of Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences’, a book written in honour of Ishaq Oloyede, registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

The sultan said: “We have so many issues coming up in our polity today and I will just pick one. Nigeria is a country where we don’t celebrate innocent and honest people until after their death. After they are gone, you will now name universities, airports and other things after them.

“The issue of N36m being swallowed by a snake is a sad reality for our country. Where is our moral value; where is our ethics?

“The reality is that we must wake up from our sleep. Let us not fail further. Things are bad. Corruption is at a very high level and it is left for us to fight it to a terminal end.

“We cannot just sit down and think that things are okay. Things are not okay. We have to find ways of getting things right in this country.

“We cannot continue with these negative things. Nowadays and like I said recently in Rivers State, we don’t have statesmen; we have men of state.”

The monarch’s comment on corruption coincides with the latest corruption perception index (CPI) released by Transparency International (TI).

According to TI, corruption is getting worse in Nigeria.

In 2016, the country scored 27/100 and was ranked 136th, but in the latest CPI, Nigeria scored 28/100 with a rank of No. 148 out of 180 countries surveyed.

The index uses a scale of 0 to 100 for its ranking, where 0 is highly corrupt and 100 is very clean.

I slept with 1,400 girls, impregnated 600 in 6 African countries, French tourist recounts
— 21st February 2018
Simon Ateba, Washington D.C. (TodayNewsAfrica)
A French tourist has admitted impregnating more than 600 women in six African countries within two years. Forty-year old Jean Michel made the revelation on an online news site “Africa24”.
The six countries included Nigeria, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Togo, Ghana and Guinea.
Why it matters:  Many Africans see all westerners as very wealthy people who can change their lives. They easily give in to all their requests and desires and are taken advantage of.
His confession has been translated from French to English by Simon Ateba in Washington, District of Columbia:
“Good morning Africa 24, I have a confession to make about the havoc I have wreaked in six African countries, including Cameroon, Togo, Cote D’Ivoire, Nigeria, Ghana and Guinea. I am not proud of what I have done. These were unfortunate experiences.
“In France where I hail from, I did not have money. I was very poor until one day I played and won lottery. I won 550 thousand euros. It was the largest sum of money I had received in life.
“I did not know what to do, and a friend suggested we travel to Africa. We obtained all the documents, entry visa, and the rest, and our first stop was Ivory Coast.
“In Abidjan (the capital of Ivory Coast), we rented a furnished apartment. We had money to spend and met Ivorian people and we became friends. They introduced young Ivorian girls to us, and that’s when it all started.
“I began having sex with girls every day. Sometimes, I would sleep with three girls at the same time. It was a marvelous experience.
“I worried less about my health. All I wanted was to have fun. My friends and I were in a night club in the town every day looking for girls.
“One time, I met a girl and gave her money, and she told me to be engaged to her. She was ready to get pregnant for me. I don’t know whether it was the money they liked or the fact that I was from France that attracted them.
“I spent three months in Ivory Coast, spent 60, 000 euros and slept with more than 80 girls.
“After leaving Ivory Coast, I went to Togo where I slept with over 100 girls and spent 40, 000 euros.
“I spent three months in Togo and went to Nigeria.
“Nigeria was where I got more girls. I did not speak English, and it seems Nigerian girls love foreigners.
“I rented a furnished apartment in Nigeria and I was in Lagos for six months. I spent 100,000 euros and slept with 230 girls. Nigeria was the place I appreciated the most. Girls were always available and easy to deceive.
“From Nigeria, I went to Ghana, and then Cameroon and ended what I describe as my sex tour in Guinea.
“I was in those three countries for more than a year and spent over 200, 000 euros. If I told you I slept with more than 700 girls in those three countries, you won’t believe me, but it was unbelievable!

#BBNAIJA2018: CDQ IS STUPID FOR SLEEPING WITH A MINOR AND CALLING IFU ENNADA A ONE
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Gimbiya - 02-22-2018, 12:01 PM - Replies (1)

Big Brother Niaja contestant, Ifu Ennada had earlier mentioned that she sponsored CDQ with her money while he was struggling as an upcoming artiste and that the rapper never reciprocated. He however replied saying she was just a one night stand.
That statement has sure aggravated a Nigerian man who  says the rapper is stupid for having the guts to say that Ifu Ennada was a one night stand as a 17 year old girl at the time of their meeting.
The young Nigerian writer and social commentator, Mark Anthony Osuchukwu, has however written an open letter to CDQ to voice out his opinion on the rapper’s reaction to Ifu Ennada’s statement.
He wrote;
Apart from being Nigerian and having Buhari as the president, another thing I don’t understand and hate is men who shame women by calling them demeaning names like slut, runz girl, ashewo, one night stand.
It irritates me in every possible way. After giving you sexual gratification and poo hits the fan, you call her a one night stand? Probably after telling her you will put only the tip.
I don’t blame some women who say men are scum. It is people like CDQ whose musical career is hinged on the love Nigerians have for noise that causes that assertion .
Ifu Ennada and CDQ.
One of the house mates spoke out saying that she was in love and because love is a stupid thing, she was giving this ingrate her school fee and handout money. And all she was paid back with was dumping her.
[Image: CDQ-is-stupid-for-calling-Ifu-Ennada-a-o...=600%2C400]
The undone-amala-looking artist opened his mouth and called her a bipolar bitch who was just a night stand.
It is funny how bipolar is now a word people throw around for jabs and insult. Something as serious as bipolar becomes something a supposed public figure is using against a girl who was only 17 and was in love.
She was a legal minor at the time. It can be said that CDQ was molesting a small girl. Ifu has a case in the court if she’s ready.
But the bloated elephant is on instagram calling her names.
It is just funny how we allow mad people to be celebrities in this country.
Someone that doesn’t deserve to be an idiot in a sane country is a celebrity who people stop on the road and demand for a selfie.
And on the other hand, young Nigerians who are not using their brains are calling Ifu out and insulting her as usual.
Because all we do in this country is look for a girl who speaks out about her past and use her to practice the art of being “woke”.
CDQ lacks common sense because when God was sharing it, he saw the queue and decided to remain stupid.
He should get a life really. With his music looking like a broken home with irreconcilable differences.

On Wednesday, while in the diary room, Nina told Big Brother that she no longer
understands Miracle as he was much more calm and a very cool guy when they were together.
Nina later confronted Miracle for telling other housemates their secret, in her words, she said; “You have change a lot. This is not the person I used to know.”
This angered Miracle who demanded what exactly he had done wrong. In response, Nina said, “I never know you talk too much. Why did you tell them that we had sex on camera.
“Our relationship has depreciated and you no longer care about me. I longer enjoy the relationship the way I used to.”
Miracle, on the other had, showed no remorse whatsoever as he gave reasons why they are no longer as close as before. He further told Nina not to jump to the conclusion that she knew him, asking, “For how long did you know me? How can you even say you knew me before?”

*You can't conclude you know a man after just one week in the house. His calm and quiet disposition could have been because he was still studying other housemates including you*

After Kanye West returned to Instagram to send a Valentine's Day message, the rapper deleted his account.

On Feb. 14, the Grammy-winning artist reactivated his Instagram account and posted a series of photos. The first picture was a card—mostly likely given to him by his wife Kim Kardashian or meant for her—that read, "Happy Valentine's Day Babe."

Sticking with the Valentine's Day theme, Kanye then shared more than 30 pictures of celebrity couples.

However, most of the photos showed couples who are no longer together, including Madonna and Sean Penn, Cindy Crawford and Richard Gere and Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Pitt.

Appeals Court Declares Trump Travel Ban Unconstitutional

President Donald Trump’s latest travel ban on travelers from six largely Muslim countries is unconstitutional because it discriminates against Muslims because of their religion, a federal appeals court ruled Thursday.
In a 9-4 vote, the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond said it examined statements made by Trump and other administration officials, as well as the ban itself, and concluded that it is “unconstitutionally tainted with animus toward Islam.”
The court upheld a ruling by a federal judge in Maryland who issued an injunction barring enforcement of the ban against people from Chad, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen who have bona fide relationships with people in the U.S.
The U.S. Supreme Court has already agreed to hear the travel ban case in April. In December, the high court said the ban could be fully enforced while appeals made their way through the courts.
In its ruling, the 4th Circuit used soaring language to criticize the ban, saying it has a “much broader deleterious effect” than banning certain foreign nationals. The court said the ban “denies the possibility of a complete, intact family to tens of thousands of Americans.”
On a fundamental level, the Proclamation second-guesses our nation’s dedication to religious freedom and tolerance,” Chief Justice Roger Gregory wrote for the court in the majority opinion.
Trump has said the ban is a legitimate measure to protect national security.
The ruling was the second time the 4th Circuit has rejected a travel ban. In May, the court cited Trump’s remarks on Muslim travelers while rejecting an earlier version of the ban, finding it “drips with religious intolerance, animus and discrimination.”

Dollar Recovery Crashes Oil Price To $64.89 Per Barrel
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 02-22-2018, 09:33 AM - No Replies

Oil prices crash further yesterday weighed down as the US dollar moved further away from three-year lows hit last week.US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were at $61.37 a barrel down 42 cents, or 0.7 per cent, from their last settlement, while Brent crude futures had dropped 36 cents, or 0.6 per cent, from their last close to $64.89 per barrel. Wang Tao, Reuter’s technical commodity analyst, said Brent could fall into a range of $63.92-$64.41 per barrel, as suggested by its wave pattern and a projection analysis. Traders said the declines were driven by a recovery in the dollar, which potentially hits fuel demand as it makes greenback-denominated oil imports more expensive for countries using other currencies at home. The dollar steadied against a basket of currencies on Wednesday, having pulled up from three-year lows set last week as traders shaved off some of the bearish bets against the US currency. “The US dollar continues to find firmer footing,” said Stephen Innes, head of trading for Asia-Pacific at futures brokerage OANDA in Singapore. Overall, however, oil markets remain well supported due to healthy demand-growth and supply restraint by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), which started last year to draw down excess global inventories.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

THURSDAY, 22ND FEBRUARY.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨ Confident In The Day Of Crisis✨

Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world (1 John 4:17).

There’re two key words I’ll like you to notice in our opening verse. The first is “perfect” which means “made complete,” while the second is “judgment.” Judgment is from the Greek word, “krisis,” the derivative of the English word, “crisis.” It depicts a time of intense difficulty or danger. So, whether you have a crisis in the Church or on your job, at
home or in the country where you live, God wants you to have boldness or confident assurance in the day of crisis.

Mark 4 gives credence to this. It tells the story of how the disciples were rattled amidst a raging tempest. Distraught with fear, they cried out to Jesus, “…Master, carest thou not that we perish?” (Mark 4:38). At that hour of crisis—that period of turbulence—Jesus was unflustered. With poise, boldness and an undeniable confidence, He hushed the tempestuous weather to sleep. Mark 4:39 says, “…he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.”

He then chided His disciples saying, “Where is your faith?” Faith in what? In the Father’s love! This was the confidence Jesus had. John 15:9 (NLT) says, “I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love.” When you function in the Father’s love, you become unafraid of anything because you know the Father is with you and in you. That fellowship inspires confidence. You’re conscious that you dwell in His love.1 John 4:18 says, “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear....”

It makes no difference what you face in life, refuse to be anxious; calm the storm. Give the Word of faith. Heal the sick, restore sight to the blind, unstop deaf ears, and restore maimed limbs! In spite of the turbulence, declare peace, tranquility, and calmness over situations and circumstances. Be bold and confident in the day of crisis because you have the Father’s love; meaning you’ll always win.

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for the confidence I have in your Word and in your love for me. In the hour of crisis, I give no room to doubt and unbelief; I’m strengthened, having the confident assurance that you’re always in, and with me. I live in perpetual victory, above the adversary and all adversities, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Muslims burn piles of Pampers nappies and call for a ban because cartoon cat's whiskers printed on them 'look like the Arabic spelling of Mohammed'

Muslim protests in India are calling for a boycott of Pampers products after claiming to have seen the word 'Mohammed' in the face of a cartoon cat which appears on its nappies.

The lines illustrating the whiskers, nose, mouth and left eye of the smiley feline allegedly bear a close resemblance to the Prophet's name when written in Arabic or Urdu.

The image on thew hygiene product has been branded an 'insult' to Islam by critics, and protesters have staged 'Pampers burnings'.

Video footage viewed more than 175,000 times online shows outraged parents making pyres out of Pampers Baby Dry Pants in the streets of India and torching whole packets in protest.

Activists from the Islamic group Darsgah Jihad-o-Shahadat yesterday lodged a formal complaint about the nappies at Dabeerpura Police Station in Hyderabad, reports the Deccan Chronicle.

In a letter to police, the group said Pampers - owned by US multinational Procter & Gamble - had 'hurt the feelings' of the Muslim community and called for the products to be taken off the shelves immediately.

It stated: 'Even with (the) bare eye it is been identified that the name of Prophet (PBUH) can be seen printed on it in Urdu/Arabic.'

Publish All Properties Recovered And Owners Before Selling Them -Fayose Tells FG
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 02-21-2018, 10:32 PM - No Replies

Quote:Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has told the federal government to publish all the property it claimed to have recovered and their owners as well as buyers when they are eventually sold.

The governor, who said Nigerians were no longer interested in being governed with propaganda, said “Nigerians want to know how many properties were recovered and who bought the properties. Who authorized the sale? Nigerians want details, not propaganda because most of these properties have been sold and resold.”

According to a statement on Wednesday by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said, “The federal government should create a website where all the properties recovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and to whom they were sold will be listed so that by one click, Nigerians will have information.”

The governor said it will be difficult to trust the EFCC reports on recovered loots, asking; “How can Nigerians continue to trust the position of the same EFCC that said in April 2016 that the allegation of corruption against Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) Chairman, Danladi Umar was mere suspicion and would be
difficult to proof in court, but now charged the same CCT chairman to court on the allegation it described as mere suspicion?”

He said; “On November 23, 2017, Senator Emmanuel Paulker, the Chairman of the Senate committee investigating the botched reinstatement and promotion of the former Chairman the Presidential Task Force on Pensions, under the leadership of Ibrahim Maina told Nigerians on the floor of the Senate that almost all the exotic properties recovered from alleged looters of Pension Funds had already been re-looted by officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

“Last year November also, the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), while testifying before the National Assembly alleged that one of the properties recovered from alleged looters of Pension Funds was already sold to a Lagos lawyer.

“How are we now sure that the same people who re-looted the recovered pension loots have not also looted the recovered properties the President said will be sold?’

Speaking further, Governor Fayose said; “The federal government cannot continue to tell Nigerians stories without background. The era of Baba
has said is gone in Nigeria. The era of the president acting like a lord of manor is gone, we are in a democracy.

“Many people were blackmailed and coerced to surrender their properties. A typical case is the one on Malabu Oil where people have been scandalized, harassed and their names destroyed via media trial and the Attorney General of the Federation now come out to say that there is no enough evidence to try them. What will now happen to the lies told against those people?

“The federal government should therefore publish and state clearly what has happened in the EFCC between 2006 and now. Nigerians need to know the recovered properties sold by Ibrahim Magu’s predecessor, Ibrahim Lamorde and other previous EFCC chairmen. Those who bought them should be made public too.”

Singapore To Give Citizens $300 Each Because Of Excess Budget

Singapore To Give Citizens Above 21yrs A Sum Of $300 Each Because Of Excess Budget - Freeze Reacts

Singapore is an example of a nation that became something out of nothing. Out of just good managerial kills and political will, Singapore was able to turn their already doomed future around in the 70s and they have not become a country to recon with.

Singapore announces plan to pay bonus to all citizens after surplus budget of almost $7.6 billion. All Singapore citizens aged 21 and above will get a one-off “SG Bonus” of up to S$300 each as the 2017 budget came in with a surplus of almost S$10 billion (US $7.6 billion).

Finance minister Heng Swee Keat made the announcement during his budget speech in Parliament, describing the bonus as a “hongbao”, the Mandarin word for a monetary gift given on special occasions. He said this “reflects the government’s long-standing commitment to share of the fruits of Singapore’s development with Singaporeans”, according to Channel News Asia.

The “SG Bonus” will cost the government S$700 million (US $533 million). The bonus will be paid according to people’s accessible income. About 2.7 million people will get the payouts, which are due by the end of 2018. Those with an income of S$28,000 or below will be eligible to receive S$300, those whose incomes ranging from S$28,001 to S$100,000 will receive S$200, and those with incomes in excess of S$100,000 will receive S$100.

Singapore’s revised budget for fiscal 2017 showed a surplus of S$9.61 billion, thanks to contributions from statutory boards and higher-than-expected stamp duty. The surplus will also be used in other ways. Heng said S$5 billion will be set aside for the Rail Infrastructure Fund to save up for new railway lines that Singapore is building. Another S$2 billion will be set aside for premium subsidies and other forms of support for Eldershield, an insurance scheme that helps senior citizens with severe disabilities to cope with the financial demands of their daily care.

Singapore became an independent republic in August 9th, 1965. Facing severe unemployment and a housing crisis, Singapore embarked on a modernization programme beginning in the late 1960s through the 1970s that focused on establishing a manufacturing industry, developing large public housing estates and investing heavily on public education.

By the 1990, the country had become one of the world's most prosperous nations, with a highly developed free market economy, strong international trading links, and the highest per capita gross domestic product in Asia outside Japan.

Daddy Freeze reacted to the news as follow;

Ironically, Singapore is a predominantly Buddhist nation and they are sharing the equivalent of N100k ($300) to every adult citizen after surplus budget.

All these were achieved without tithing or 50day fasts! Nigerias please learn from this! When some Goat overseers decided to gather to pray for Nigeria I knew that our foolishness had reached its all time peak!

I think is high time Nigeria and Nigerians put the issue of religion in perspective in other to grow.

See How Fabregas And Messi Greeted Each Other After Chelsea Vs Barcelona Game by WotzupNG2:32pm
Last night was a high profile champions league game between Chelsea and Barcelona, a game that ended 1-1 at Stamford Bridge, London. The first half saw Barca maintaining possession with the English side having just 25%. However, the Blues came close to scoring with Brazilian international, Willian Borges da Silva hitting the woodwork twice in the first half.

At the resumption of second half, Chelsea became brave enough to push forward against Barcelona and were rewarded when a brilliant effort from Willian curved pass defenders to beat the goalkeeper in the 62nd minute of the game. 75 minutes later, Iniesta took advantage of a Chelsea defensive slip to lay the ball for Lionel Messi who scored his first goal against Chelsea.

Below are pictures showing Chelsea’s Fabregas and Messi catching up on old times, with former EPL player, Luis Suarez joining. Fabregas and Messi are part of Barcelona FC’s class of 2002

A hospital in Lagos has been accused of negligence after officials allegedly refused to render help to an injured man who was involved in an accident. According to reports, the hospital located in Ajah area of Lagos literally closed their gate as the unconscious brought was brought by people to the hospital.

Veteran actor Segun Arinze who berated the hospital for this, shared the below post on Facebook.

I just witnessed one of the most unimaginable acts by any hospital. I was in a barbing salon having a shave opposite Doreen Hospital Thomas Estate Ajah and we heard crowd noise downstairs we stood to see what was wrong? A Man had an accident and was brought in unconscious.

Doreen Hospital refused to open their door to help rescue the Man in spite of all entreaties. Some of the nurses refused to help they were just watching the Man on the ground. So what happened to coronary law? Treat the Victim or patient first!! And ask questions or ask for payment later? What are hospitals turn to in Nigeria? Has life become valueless in our country?

Quote:President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday visited Yola where he insisted that he had fulfilled major promises made to electorate during his political campaign.

Buhari, who paid homage to Lamido of Adamawa, Alhaji Muhammadu Barkindo at his palace, said that the fight against corruption and maintaining peace and security were among the priorities of his administration.

“We appreciate security progress in the North East and the country at large.

He explained also that economic development has improved, especially in the area of agriculture.

“We are lucky that for the past two years farmers across the country experienced excellent harvests,” Buhari said.

He said that Federal ministry of agriculture and Central Bank of Nigeria would continue to support famers in years to come in order to sustain sufficient national food production and economy growth.

He said he was aware of the abandoned Chochi water and irrigation project in Yola South local government area and explained that no one should be blamed for it.

Barkindo had advised Buhari not to listen to the call by some “empty barrel Nigerian elite’’ that he should not seek for a second term.

“I am calling you to remain focus, stand firm and don’t listen to the empty barrels Nigerian elites who are calling you not to re-contest for 2019 Presidential election.

“They are burying their heads in shame and telling people that Buhari’s led Government has done nothing,” Barkindo noted.

He noted that the elite had forgotten that Buhari introduced Treasury Single Account where Tens of Trillions of naira belonging to Nigerian people was saved.

He listed some of the visible achievements of Buhari to include security, economy and fight against corruption.

He appealed to the Federal Government to look into the Chochi water and rice irrigation project which he said was abandoned for over 20 years .

The monarch appealed to the president to intervene and reconsider the upgrading of Moddibo Adama University of Technology, Yola into full pledge conventional university with schools of management, Information Technology, Health among others.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Appointed Into Commonwealth High-Level Group

Posted by: Edoman - 02-21-2018, 10:03 PM - No Replies

Quote:Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has been appointed into a High-Level Group on Governance of the Commonwealth Secretariat.

Prof. Ben Maloney, Communications Officer, Commonwealth Secretariat, said in a statement that the High-Level Group would make recommendations on governance of the Commonwealth Secretariat.

The Commonwealth, however, denied that the group was constituted to secretly begin considering who might succeed the Queen as its head.

“At their last Summit in Malta, Commonwealth heads of government directed the Secretary-General to form the Group.

“Today members are discussing the scope of the group’s work and the areas of governance it will examine over the coming months.

“The process is open and the High-Level Group reports to the heads.

“The issue of succession of the Head of the Commonwealth is not part of the Group’s mandate,” the statement said.

The group is chaired by Anote Tong, former President of Kiribati from 2003 to 2016.

Okonjo-Iweala, the Coordinating Minister of the Economy during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, is among the seven-member group.

Others include Lord Howell, former British Energy Secretary; Louise Frechette, former UN Deputy Secretary-General; and Robert Hill, former Australian Defence Minister.

Dame Miller, former Deputy Prime Minister of Barbados and Dr George Vella, former Foreign Minister of Malta are also members of the group.

The group operates independently of the London-based Commonwealth Secretariat and would report only to the heads of Commonwealth governments.

However, further members may be appointed, the Secretariat said.

The group is expected to report to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in London in April, which is likely to be the last that the Queen would attend.

Senate Set To Suspend Ovie Omo-Agege Over Buhari Comment
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 02-21-2018, 10:02 PM - No Replies

Quote:The senate, yesterday, resolved to probe Senator Ovie Omo-Agege (APC, Delta) over his statement that the reordering of elections sequence was targeted at President Muhammadu Buhari.

Oma-Agege had shortly after the passage of the amendment to the 2010 Electoral Act, told newsmen that the change in the sequence was targeted at Buhari.

Daily Trust recalls that Omo-Agege, with nine others: Senators Abdullahi Adamu, Malam Ali Wakili, Abu Ibrahim, Abdullahi Gumel, Binta Masi, Yahaya Abdullahi, Andrew Uchendu, Umaru Kurfi and Benjamin Uwajumogu had addressed the press where they expressed reservation over the change of elections sequence.

During the briefing, Omo-Agege said, “You don’t make a law to target one person. The perception is that the law is targeted at the president. I will continue to protest it. I can tell you it will not become a law,” he said.

During yesterday’s plenary, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the FCT, Dino Melaye (APC, Kogi), raised a point of order demanding that Oma-Agege be probed.

Recall that it was Melaye that raised the point of order that led to the suspension of Senator Ali Ndume (APC, Borno) for six months in March last year. Ndume’s “offence” was his statement on Melaye and the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

Melaye said, “President Muhammadu Buhari is not only my party man; he is a president we all laboured to vote for. My colleague, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, addressed the media last week. He said the decision taken by this senate was targeted at President Buhari.

“I cannot be part of any group of persons to move against the president; the allegations are weighty. I followed President Buhari to 35 states of the federation during the campaigns.

“When I was following the president round the country, Omo-Agege was in the Labour Party (LP). To now allege and put the integrity of the senate under check that the amendment was tailored towards the president is unheard of; it is in bad taste,” he said.

“I want to ask that the statement made by Omo-Agege, among other statements, be investigated by the Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions. They need to find out if our actions were targeted at the president, he added.”

The Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, who presided over the plenary, referred the matter to the ethics committee, saying they should bring their report within two weeks.

Afenifere Blames INEC, Jega For Underage Voting In The North(PHOTO

@POLITICSNGR

Pan Yoruba Socio-cultural group, Afenifere has blamed the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) and its immediate past chairman, Attahiru Jega for the numerous cases of Underaged voters prevalent in the northern part of the country.

National publicity secretary of the group, Yinka Odumakin to independent that it is surprising to see that children are allowed to vote in some sections of the country when the law of the country stipulates that anyone below the age of 18 is not eligible to vote.

While also holding Jega responsible for the anomaly, Afenifere said in the build-up to the 2015 general election, while INEC under Jega’s leadership distributed the PVCs to individuals in the Southern part of the country, they allegedly handed them over to Emirs in the North, who in turn distributed them to everyone in their locality, including children.

The group said urgent action must be taken to correct the anomaly or this could hamper the conduct of free and fair polls in 2019.

North Using Cattle Colony To Islamise Nigeria, Igbo Wont Accept It – Archbishop

North using cattle colony to Islamise Nigeria, Igbo wont accept it – Archbishop Chukwuma

Bishop of the Enugu Ecclesiastical Province of Anglican Communion, Archbishop Emmanuel Chukwuma, has said no South East governor will be allowed to give land to terrorists in any guise.

He anchored his claim on the fact that herdsmen were worse than separatist group, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, adding that the move was aimed at Islamising Nigeria.

Addressing reporters at the Cathedral Church of the Good Shepherd in Enugu, the clergyman said herdsmen were armed, dangerous and as such, are a threat to farmers.

According to Chukwuma, “We cannot have colony for terrorists; people that are dangerous, who have guns and other dangerous equipment for killing and maiming our people and farming will become difficult.

“Very soon, farming will start, how can you have colony when you have farmers ready to go to farm and are scared because of herdsmen. Something needs to be done by the government and security agencies to make everywhere secured and to make everybody join in agriculture which the government is talking about.

“Cattle colony is another agenda for Islamizing Nigeria. Forget about what they said, once anybody or state has the colony, they will continue to impregnate people and they will begin to expand. We don’t want that. I have stayed in the North and have never seen where their cows are being reared all over the place. Cattle rearing is a private business.

“As far as I am concerned, no governor in South East will accept and should accept any colony for any cattle rearer because they have become dangerous and we don’t know what they might become tomorrow. They are dangerous and I say, they are worse than IPOB. They should be described as a terrorist group too.”

Aliyu Wamakko Replaces Abdullahi Adamu As Chairman Northern Senators Forum
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 02-21-2018, 09:54 PM - No Replies

Quote:Senators under the umbrella of the Northern Senators Forum have removed Abdullahi Adamu as their chairman.
He was replaced by Aliyu Wammako, a former Sokoto State governor.

The removal was announced in a letter read by the presiding officer, Ike Ekweremadu, shortly before the end of the plenary on Wednesday.

The letter signed by the Public Relations Officer of the forum noted that Mr. Adamu was removed for “financial mismanagement and other related matters.”
“This is to inform the Senate that the majority signatories of members of the Northern Senators Forum. We have removed Sen. Abdullahi Adams as chairman of the Northern Senators Forum for financial mismanagement and misadministration. We announce his replacement with Senator Aliyu Wamakko immediately. Find the attached names and signatories of members,” the letter reads.

The removal is coming a week after Mr. Adamu led nine others to oppose the Senate passage of the amendment to the electoral act.
Mr. Adamu (Nasarawa-APC), questioned the conduct of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, in the passage process.

“We are part of the whole body of senators who oppose the process by which the so-called conference report was laid and considered as rushed. I had the opportunity (to speak), I was heard but the Senate President said my observation was being noted,” Mr. Adamu had said.

The lawmaker questioned the Senate’s amendment of the election sequence for 2019. The amendment if signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari would see the National Assembly election coming up first in 2019, followed by state assemblies and governorship, with the presidential election coming last.
PREMIUM TIMES also reported how Mr. Adamu on Monday attacked ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo for publicly criticising Mr. Buhari in an open letter.

Already, another of the senators who opposed the passage of the election sequence amendment, Ovie Omo-Agege, is billed to appear before the Senate ethics committee following his comments that the Senate’s action was targeted at President Muhammadu Buhari.

"PDP Squandered Our Resources In The Worst Form Of Impunity" - Utomi
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 02-21-2018, 09:53 PM - No Replies

Quote:Nigeria’s foremost political economist and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Prof. Pat Utomi has rated the performance of President Muhammadu Buhari’s led administration high, noting that it will take time to address sixteen years of PDP rot, which left the country in ruin.

Utomi stated this while responding to a question on why Nigerians are yet to feel the impact of change promised by the APC government. He explained that socio-economic change is a gradual phenomenon and it is not automatic.

He further stated that if Nigerians take a critical look at where PDP left the country, the level of impunity and unprecedented looting, Nigerians will rather commend the President’s efforts. “If you remember where we are coming from, you will give Buhari government acclamation and commendation”, he said, stressing that sixteen years of PDP rule virtually left Nigeria in ruin and retrogression.

“The country was under a highly corrupt and incompetent system; our resources squandered by a few political office holders in the worst form of impunity and recklessness ever seen in Africa’s most populous nation.”

“Yes there are challenges of governance under the present administration, but Buhari has shown commitment and sincerity to effect a resounding change in social, economic and political development of Nigeria.

“He remains a man of integrity, self-discipline and modesty with a high sense of moral rectitude. These are the cardinal attributes of a good leader. He added, “We are enthused that he is the President of Nigeria at this time. He is on a rescue mission. He does not pay lip service to patriotism.

While calling on well-meaning Nigerians to continue to support Mr President on his mission to re-order the country, he enjoined Nigerians to also pray for Buhari to succeed. “Buhari is passionate about the progress and survival of Nigeria. Every reasonable Nigerian should support him. He deserves all good will because he is not a corrupt and irresponsible leader,” he added.

Catholic Church Doesn’t Run On Tithe– Cardinal Okogie Fires Back At Gov. Bello
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 02-21-2018, 09:51 PM - No Replies

Quote:Cardinal Anthony Okogie, retired Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, has declared that the Catholic church does not run on titles.

The former President of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, made the remake while noting that Catholic church had never taught that God’s blessings depended on tithe paying.

Okogie was reacting to a statement credited to the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, who had said that looters normally take their proceeds to church.

Reacting to the statement, Okogie stressed that no Catholic Bishop has a private jet.

In a statement, Okogie said, “Anyone who has a faint idea of how the Catholic Church is run would know that the Catholic Church does not run on tithes. She has never taught that God’s blessings depend on tithes. No Catholic Bishop in this country has a private jet.

“Not even the Pope has one. But an uninformed state governor, notorious for being insolent, described the Bishop’s intervention as the wailing of religious leaders who no longer have access to tithes because of this government’s anti-corruption fight.

“True friends tell each other the truth. There cannot be sincere friendship where there is no truth. Those who are telling our President the truth are his true friends. Those who are shielding him from the truth while insulting those who tell him the truth are his real enemies.

“By insulting well-meaning Nigerians who happen to disagree with policies of government they are not winning friends for the President. They are in fact helping to grow the rank and file of the angry. Whoever loves this President would want him to succeed. Whoever wants him to succeed must tell him the truth. For if he fails, Nigeria fails.

Abia House Of Assembly To Pass Anti-Grazing Bill Over Herdsmen/Farmer's Clashes
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 02-21-2018, 09:49 PM - No Replies

Quote:Deputy speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly and the chairman, House Committee on Information, Rt. Hon.Cosmos Ndukwe, on Wednesday said the House would soon pass into law the anti-grazing bill before it.

Ndukwe made this known while interacting with newsmen at the Assembly complex in Umuahia. According to him, the House was mindful of the fact that the farming season was almost around the corner, and that the farmers needed some security as they go into farming season, hence the need for accelerated passage of the bill into law to curtail the occasional clashes between herdsmen and farmers in the state.

On the delayed passage of 2018 appropriation bill by the State House of Assembly, the Deputy Speaker said that the committee has done its duty by extending invitation to the MDAs to defend their budget proposals, adding that the house would not approve any money for any MDAs if the purpose of such money could not be defended.

He further pointed out that by the end of this week, the house will go ahead to pass the appropriation bill into law for only those MDAs who were able to defend their budget proposals.

His words: ‘Very soon, We will pass the anti grazing bill before us. You can see the clashes between farmers and herdsmen, so we will ensure accelerated passage of the bill curtail to the occasional clashes between farmers and herders’.

“Also on the delayed passage of 2018 appropriation bill, the committee has done their work well by ensuring all the MDA’s in the state defend their budget proposal. And let it be made known to the MDA’s that the house will not approve any budget for any MDA’s if the purpose of such budget can not be defended”, he said.
