Nigeria records 28% rise in petrol price in Jan – NBS - Edoman - 02-14-2018 Nigeria recorded 28.4 per cent increase in the price of petrol in January as the country continues to suffer scarcity of the product.
The Premium Motor Spirit Watch released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) yesterday shows that the average price paid by consumers for petrol skyrocketed to N190.9 in January 2018 from N171.8 in December 2017. Daily Trust’s analysis of the report shows that the states with the highest average price of petrol are Osun (N228.89), Abia (N227.50) and Benue (N223.33).
States with the lowest average price of petrol are Zamfara (N159.12), Gombe (N157.73) and Kogi (N152.83).
Similarly, a separate report on Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) shows an increase in the average price of diesel to N213.82 in January 2018 from N205.81 in December 2017. The report shows that the states with the highest average price of diesel are Sokoto (N256.00), Kebbi (N255.45) and Taraba (N250.25).
