Armed soldiers on Sunday invaded Daily Trust regional office in Maiduguri, Borno state and arrested the regional editor, Uthman Abubakar and a reporter, Ibrahim Sawab.

It is not clear why they took the action but it may be connected with the lead story of Daily Trust on Sunday on military operation in the North East.

Daily Trust also learnt that the soldiers shut the gate of the Maiduguri regional office, after arresting the two editorial staff on sight at the time of the raid.

  Niger Delta Militants Blow Conoil Facility Up In Bayelsa

A Niger Delta militant group, that styles itself Koluama Seven Brothers on Sunday said it carried out a “warning” strike on an oil facility owned by energy company Conoil in Bayelsa.

The attack was carried out on Friday, by the new group at 12:20 a.m. on Jan. 4 at Conoil’s Angle 2 Field.

The group said the attack “is just a warning”.

The organization said it had “no other option than to launch a strike to shut down Conoil” if demands were not met.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps confirmed that a blast was heard on Friday around a Conoil pipeline in Bayelsa.

The militants threatened a production shut down at the facility owned by Mike Adenuga.

The Koluama Seven Brothers said in a statement it would carry out further strikes if its demands, including job creation, were not met by the company and a traditional leader.

Conoil Producing Nigeria operates six highly prospective blocks in the Niger Delta and produces over 80,000 barrels of oil per day, according to information on its website.

Attacks on pipelines and other facilities in the Niger Delta reached a peak in 2016, cutting Nigeria’s crude production from as much as 2.2 million barrels per day (mbpd) to near 1 mbpd – the lowest level seen in at least 30 years, Reuters first reported.

The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Professor Jerry Gana, says his administration will focus on the devolution of power if elected into office.

Gana during a meeting in Abuja on Saturday noted that the devolution of power will address the challenges of poverty and over-dependence on federal allocations.

“In a good Federal system, the federating units have excellent purposes and basic functions to perform. In Nigeria, most of the federating units, the state, are always waiting to take resources from the Federal Government. That is not a Federal structure.

“In a good federal structure, the federating units must be strong on their own. Raising resources on their own. Paying salaries on their own. Every state of the Federal Republic will have resources for them to generate and create wealth. We don’t have to be waiting for the Federal Government.

“Therefore, there must be devolution of power to the Federating units, so that our people can be looked after in education, health, housing etc,” Gana said.

He also restated his party’s commitment towards the attainment of socio-economic development through grassroots mobilisation and addressing poverty.

  Man Beheads Businessman For Money Ritual In Osun

Police paraded a middle-aged man, Dauda Amusat aka Adasi, for allegedly beheaded a 42yr old, Sanusi Isiaka, on May 14, 2017 about 9p.m. in Osogbo, Osun State. Also paraded were suspected cultists, Alade Afeez aka Esubiyi and Adesoji Seyi aka Oosa, for the killing of many people at the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree. .

Amusat, who was said to have used Isiaka’s head for money ritual, was arrested on December 28, 2018 about 4p.m. at Ifon-Osun in Orolu Local Government Area of Osun State, after he committed the crime with his partners. .

Speaking with journalists on the development in Osogbo, the state Police Commissioner, Mr. Fimihan Adeoye, said “the 36-year-old Amusat was arrested for conspiracy and murder of a 42-year-old Sanusi Isiaka on May 14, 2017 about 9p.m. at a point near Slava Construction Company on Iwo Road, Osogbo”.
The police boss explained that the victim’s head was later used for ritual. .

He said: “The deceased was deceitfully lured from Saki in Oyo State to Osogbo a few days before his death by one of the principal suspects named Yekini Ayinde aka Abija, now at large.“The deceased was asked to deliver 500 bags of rice and was later lodged in a hotel with expectation of getting money for the sales of rice through Ayinde.

“The deceased was taken out to the scene where he was killed and the money was stolen and shared by the suspects.”Adeoye said the suspect had confessed through his statement volunteered to the police that seven of them perpetrated the killing while four of them used the head for ritual.

He added: “Three suspects were charged to court sometimes last year while this suspect will also appear in court as soon as investigation is completed.”

The suspect, told journalists that he put a rope on the neck of the deceased before he was beheaded.

He said: 

“I am selling beer in Ifon-Osun where I know Abija. He promised to give us N200,000 if we can help him kill the man. He sent his people to bring the man to us at Okefia, Osogbo. When we finished the job, he gave Oyama N65,000, he gave me N70,000 so that I can use N5k to buy beer for people.

  Fish Sold For N1.1 Billion In Japan’s New Year Tuna Auction

The owner of a Japanese sushi restaurant chain on Saturday set a record by paying more than $3 million for a bluefin tuna in the New Year tuna auction at Tokyo’s new fish market.

Kiyoshi Kimura, who owns the Sushizanmai chain, paid 333.6 million yen (£2.5 million) for the 278-kg (613-lb) fish caught off the coast of northern Japan’s Aomori prefecture, or double what he had paid six years ago, reports Telegraph UK.

“The tuna looks so tasty and very fresh, but I think I did too much,” Kimura told reporters outside the market later.

“I expected it would be between 30 million and 50 million yen, or 60 million yen at the highest, but it ended up five times more.”

Saturday’s event was the first New Year auction of the Toyosu market, after the famed Tsukiji fish market shut last year to provide temporary parking for the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics.

Kimura had held the record for top price paid for a single fish at the new year’s auction for six straight years until 2017. But last year, the owner of a different fish restaurant chain paid the highest price.

After the auction, the fish was taken to one of Sushizanmai’s branches located in the old market of Tsukiji.

Tuna is prized around the world for its use in sushi, but experts warn growing demand has made it an endangered species.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council in Ekiti State has challenged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to tell Nigerians the political history of those President Muhammadu Buhari will inaugurate on Monday to lead his reelection campaign, saying "the corrupt people who were looking for Presidential cover are now the ones to tell Nigerians to reelect President Buhari.  Where lies his integrity?"

In a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, by the Director of Media and Publicity, Lere Olayinka, the campaign council urged Ekiti people in particular and Nigerians in general to take note of those President Buhari will be presenting tomorrow as Vice Chairmen (North and South), Director General as well as Zonal Coordinators of his campaign.

The statement read; "PDP, like every organisations had its fair share of bad elements and we are happy that those corrupt elements left the party and are now comfortably calling the shots in the APC, playing leading roles in the reelection campaign of a President they told Nigerians had integrity.

" At the top echelon of the campaign council of their Mr. Integrity is Rotimi Amaechi, a man who has lived close to 20 years of his existence on public fund, having spent eight years as Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly and seven and half years as the State governor on the ticket of PDP. Out of 20 years of his political life, he has only spent four in APC.

"Senator George Akume, who is the Vice Chairman (North) of the Buhari's Campaign Council was Governor of Benue State from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007 on the platform of PDP while Senator Ken Nnamani, who is the Vice Chairman (South) was Senate President between 2005 and 2007 on PDP platform.

Senator Aliyu Wamakko, who is to lead Buhari's campaign in the Northwest was elected governor of Sokoto State in 2007 and 2011 on the platform of PDP while his Northeast counterpart, Senator Ali Ndume was elected to the Senate for Borno South, in 2011 as PDP candidate.

In the North Central, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, a two term PDP governor of Nasarawa State is President Buhari's campaign director.

"Most importantly, Senator Godswill Akpabio, who is the campaign director for South South was until a few months ago the PDP Leader in the Senate and he was two term governor of Akwa Ibom State as well as Commissioner.

"They have now rechristened these corrupt people that could not fit into the reformed and rejuvenated PDP as progressives, with President Buhari giving them protection. Even properties seized from them when EFCC was still fighting corruption and not being used as attack-dog against opposition elements as being done under the APC government have all been returned.

" Furthermore, they have been assigned with task of selling Buhari, an expired product to Nigerians so that they can keep enjoying his protection at the expense of suffering Nigerians.

"Therefore, beyond the APC's sing song of Nigeria not going back to the  PDP 16 years of alleged corruption, the reality is that the leading lights of APC today are those the PDP found unworthy, who sought protection from APC, a party noted for protecting corrupt people. And the way the APC is going with its desperate political recruitments, we only hope Nigerians won't one day see Evans, the alleged kidnapper mounting the rostrum to campaign for the reelection of the President."

A suspected ritual story involving popular video vixen/model Wendy and her boyfriend, Best Jide, is currently developing in Benin, Edo State. Wendy is said to have bled to death, yesterday, and her boyfriend is being accused of using her for ritual. .

According to a recent chat she had with a friend before her death, she said she dreamt that she was bleeding and was told, in the dream, that her boyfriend had used her for ritual. In the chat, she revealed that when she woke up, she discovered that she was bleeding, prompting her to call her pastor, who confirmed that Best had indeed used her.

Wendy went on to reveal that the pastor told her to have a river bath within 3 days or risky losing her life. However, it seems she eventually lost the battle. Meanwhile, when contacted, the boyfriend denied having a hand in her death. But while Jide has gone private on Instagram, Wendy’s friends have since started storming her social media pages to mourn her.

  Dino Melaye Denies Booing Buhari At Budget Presentation

Senator Dino Melaye has denied being part of the lawmakers that booed President Muhammadu Buhari during the 2019 budget presentation before a joint session of the National Assembly on December 19, 2018.

Melaye, who represents Kogi West Senatorial District on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said he was absent at the House of Representatives chamber, venue of the budget presentation on that day, let alone partake in jeering the president.

Daily Trust recalls that some lawmakers, mainly of the opposition PDP, jeered the president during the budget presentation. But they were countered by their All Progressives Congress (APC) counterparts, who cheered the president.

Apparently disturbed by the development, Buhari had to pause to caution the lawmakers, saying “May I remind Honourable members that the world is watching us, and we should be above this.”


Since the incident, there have been reports in the social media that the booing was led by the Kogi senator.

But Melaye, in his first reaction to the social media reports, said in a statement by his media aide, Gideon Ayodele, on Saturday evening that those that kept calling his name on the incident lied against him.

Our correspondent reports that Melaye’s denial came 24 hours after he surrendered himself to the police following one week siege on his Maitama residence over an alleged case of culpable homicide, an allegation he denied.


“The attention of Senator Dino Melaye has been drawn to a malicious reference to his person on the social media as one of the lawmakers who booed President Muhammadu Buhari during his 2019 Budget presentation before a joint session of the National Assembly on Wednesday, December 19, 2018.

“Before now, he had refused to refute the mischievious social media fabrication for what it is – a cheap lie – Senator Dino Melaye was not in the National Assembly that day.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Distinguished Senator Dino Melaye was absent at the televised 2019 Budget Presentation session and hereby challenges anyone with contrary proof to come forward with such.

“By his nature, Distinguished Senator Dino Melaye is not one who speaks and cannot defend his action at the same time. Whatever he says or does, he stands by his actions no matter whose ox is gored,” ‎he said.

Excitement as Keke NAPEP in Kogi are adorned with Atiku/ Obi Banners.

Residents of Kogi State could not hold back their excitement as they woke up to the fact that KEKE riders in the State are happily adorning their rides with Atiku/ Obi Stickers with a promise of lower food prices , lower fuel prices and better life for all Nigerians. The visibly excited residents were shouting 'PDP power'! at the sight of the tricycles.

The mounting of the banners which came in three variants including Hausa concided with the mounting of Atiku / Obi billboards at strategic locations within the state.

However, Lokoja was almost thrown into mourning following the reactions of PDP youth to the destruction of the Atiku banners in the state, an action which almost threw the state into unimaginable crisis but for the intervention of the elders who calmed the PDP Youths who have vowed to bring down all APC paraphernalia should there be any attempt on Atiku campaign materials anywhere in the state.

  Amina Zakari Is Lying About Her Relationship With Buhari

Mrs. Amina Zakari just said to the BBC, “I’m not Buhari’s niece.” That’s flat-out mendacious. And it puts a huge question mark on her honesty, probity, and trustworthiness. A person who can lie this casually about something as basic and as verifiable as her relationships is disreputable and unworthy of the responsibility she’s been entrusted with at INEC. So what is the truth?

In a December 27, 2018 article, Mohammed Haruna, former Daily Trust columnist and current INEC commissioner, confirmed that President Muhammadu Buhari’s biological sister was once married to Mrs. Amina Zakari’s father. That makes Amina Buhari’s niece. This is the definition of a niece in the Oxford English Dictionary: “A daughter of one’s brother or sister, or of one’s brother-in-law or sister-in-law.” Amina’s father was Buhari’s brother-in-law. So Amina IS INDEED Buhari’s niece.

But that’s not all. At some point in his youth, Buhari, who lost his father at a young age, came under the guardianship of Amina’s father, the late Alhaji Hussaini Adamu, who was emir of Kazaure, Daura’s “next-door neighbor.” I had the pleasure of interviewing Mrs. Amina Zakari’s brother, Alhaji Najib Hussaini Adamu, in early 1999 shortly after he became emir, when I was a reporter for the Weekly Trust. I stayed at the palace for days. So I have some familiarity with the family.

Buhari has never severed his relationship with Amina’s father’s family even after Buhari’s sister’s death. When he was chairman of PTF, he got Amina a consultancy contract with Afri-Projects Consortium (APC), “the sole manager of the PTF projects.” In Ray Ekpu’s widely shared June 2018 article titled “Petroleum Trust Fraud,” we learn that the late Salihijo Ahmad, the Adamawa-born boss of APC and relative of Buhari’s current wife, “admitted to Newswatch in an interview published by the magazine in its April 19, 1999 issue that it was APC that wrote the proposal which defined the mandate of the PTF.”

It has also been established by several people I spoke with today that Amina Zakari was nominated to INEC commissionership by Buhari. This fact, as I pointed out in my Saturday Tribune column, isn’t enough to vitiate her neutrality. After all, Jonathan defeated Buhari in 2011 while she was INEC commissioner. But deceiving the world by concealing the nature and depth of her relationship with Buhari shows that she’s up to no good this time around.

Another evidence of Buhari’s continuing relationship with Amina’s family exists in the fact that Mrs. Amina Zakari’s biological brother, Alhaji Sulaiman Adamu, is Buhari’s Minister of Water Resources. In both African and Western kinship dynamics, Buhari and Amina Zakari are related. If Nigeria were a functioning country, Amina would have recused herself from her current role at INEC in view of the widespread concerns raised by several stakeholders about her ties with Buhari. But Nigeria is an anything-goes banana republic.

Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai has spoken against the manipulation of religion and ethnicity for political interests by the elites in the country.  

 

The governor, who is seeking reelection under the banner of the All Progressives Congress, said the choice of  Dr Hadiza Balarabe as his running mate for the March 2nd governorship poll was “influenced by considerations of competence, developing the state and pulling the talents of the women”.    

 

El-Rufai was quoted by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Samuel Aruwan,  to have stated these as a  guest on a Hausa programme, ‘Hannu Dayawa’ on the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Kaduna, on Saturday.  

 

The governor said people in their businesses, travels and daily lives, look for those who could  give them results, not the faith of the person. He said, “our action was not predicated on religion or  ethnicity but getting a deputy governor that suits our quest for a better Kaduna State.”  

Quote:The governor added, “you are sick and in dire need of life. When you are rushed to hospital, what do you need? Life or  the religion of the doctor? Life is what you need and you will not waste time on the religion and the ethnic background  of the doctor.
When you are flying, do you care about the religion or  the ethnic background  of the pilot or a safe flight? It’s  the same thing with business and investment. You hire those who can make your investment profitable.”

  2019: 8 Million People Have Not Collected Their Pvcs, INEC Cries Out

Barely five weeks to the start of this year’s general election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said about eight million would-be voters are yet to pick up their permanent voter card (PVC). One of INEC’s National Commissioner, Dr. Mohammed Lecky, disclosed this during an interview with THISDAY on Saturday while reaffirming the commission’s commitment to the prevention of electoral fraud.


Lecky also said the commission had no intention of re-introducing the controversial incidence forms in the February and March elections.

He said, “In fact, the use of the incidence form has been completely abrogated. It is no longer part of INEC’s regulations and guidelines. So, that is the position. There is no re-introduction of the incidence form, contrary to what the media had reported recently.

“First and foremost, INEC is a very responsive agency and once people raised the objection and following the review of the 2015 general election, a number of observers, like the CSOs, NGOs and international organisations, had made recommendations on how to improve and we have to respond to them. One of the things they recommended is that we have to do away with the incidence form because it could be susceptible to all manner of abuses and we don’t want to give chance to those abuses to either occur or give a perception to their occurrence.”

Regarding the number of PVCs yet to be collected, the INEC national commissioner said, “There is no state in the country where we have achieved 100 per cent distribution of PVC. The distribution of PVC is the biggest headache for us. We need the media to help us encourage the people to come and collect their PVCs. People are not coming forward to pick their PVCs. We have about eight million PVCs yet to be collected by Nigerians.”

The INEC commissioner stated further that in the absence of the incidence form, the electoral body had put measures in place to ensure rigorous authentication of the would-be voter in case the card reader failed to work.

He noted, “It is possible to have a situation whereby the card reader is malfunctioning and we have to resort to manual accreditation. A would-be presenter who presents himself to cast a vote but his fingerprint cannot be authenticated. In that case, his PVC will be sufficient – as it is verified that the card is issued by INEC and that it belongs to the would-be voter.”

Continuing, Lecky said, “We have a voter register at the point of voting in which we verify the name of the would-be voter, his photo and other details. So, if we don’t use incidence form you are removing a cloud of doubt. So we’re responding to that by removing the form.

“At the same time, we are also taking details of voters’ personal information. We have redesigned the register itself. The voter register now has provisions for us to take your details.

“We will take your name, again, we will take your phone number. If we are asking for those details the person may not go forward because he knows we can follow through to know exactly who he is and whether he has come to impersonate or something like that. Such a measure is a deterrent for any perpetration of electoral fraud.”

Lecky, however, expressed concern about the country’s media becoming a conveyor of fake news. He said, “We are very concerned when we saw that the media, particularly newspapers, carried a news that is not true on the front page – something that could have been easily verified on our website. We have been doing our best to ensure fake news does not impact on the forthcoming elections. We have been embarking on various voter education campaigns and advertisements and engagement with the media; as well using various social media platforms to counteract fake news.

“We are also using youth ambassadors to ensure the right information is passed to the public. We are also making ourselves available to be engaged – if you want to interview the chairman or any of the commissioners. We are also open to suggestions from the media on how to carry out our national responsibility.”

He dispelled a rumour that the electoral body would not post election results at each polling unit.

“This is not true. In our new regulation, that particular requirement is mandatory – it’s not optional. It’s mandatory that results must be posted at every polling unit. We are urging the media to remain nonpartisan in the coming elections. They should be circumspect in their reportage. INEC is ready to work with the media to ensure the elections are credible and fair,” Lecky added.

Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Friday made its first intervention in the inter-bank sector of the Foreign Exchange market for 2019 with a total sum of $210 million injected into the wholesale segment and other sectors of the market, said Eagle Online.

A breakdown of the figures showed that customers in the Wholesale sector of the market received the sum of $100 million with the Small and Medium Enterprises and invisibles sectors each getting $55 million to meet the needs of customers.

CBM Director of Corporate Communications, Isaac Okorafor, said the bank continued from where it stopped in 2018 to maintain the stability being enjoyed in the market.

Also, Nigerian foreign reserve, in 2019, has recorded the highest opening in six years!

According to the latest figures from CBN, as collated by TheCable, the country’s reserves opened at $43,075,740,908 on Tuesday to break a six-year record.

The last time Nigeria’s reserves opened above $42 billion was in 2013, when it opened the new year at above $45 billion.

For 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018, the reserves stood at $40.6 billion, $34.2 billion, $28.2 billion, 27.9 billion, $38.9 billion and $43.1 billion respectively.

Nigeria's President has reportedly ordered the prosecution of NFF President, Pinnick over allegations of multi-billion naira fraud.

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the prosecution of the President of the Nigerian Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, over an alleged multi-billion scam in the organisation.
 
It was also learnt that the Federal Government through the Presidential investigative panel headed by Mr. Okoi Obono-Obla, had placed Pinnick on travel ban.
 
Punch gathered on Saturday that Buhari gave the order for Pinnick’s prosecution when the Obono-Obla presented a preliminary investigation report to him.
 
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission also addressed a report on the NFF to Mr President detailing the outcome of their investigations which tallied with what Obono-Obla’s panel had submitted to the President.
 
EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu had in his six-page report informed Buhari that the anti-graft agency had investigated and prosecuted the Director, Finance and Administration, Christopher Andekin; Head, Finance and Administration, NFF, Jafaru Mamzah and a cashier with the Finance and Administration department of the NFF, Rajan Zaka over an alleged financial scam in the football governing house in connection with financial payments from  Federation of International Football Associations and Confederation of African Football to NFF between 2014 and 2016.
 
But Buhari who was said to have been visibly angry over the alleged monumental scam ordered Pinnick to also be prosecuted. He directed Magu to embark on a wider investigation into the remittances to the NFF between 2017 and 2018.
 
The president, who was reportedly shocked by the mind-boggling report and additional revelations directed Magu to ensure a comprehensive and discreet investigation with watertight and unassailable facts and pieces of evidence that would nail the suspects at the court.
 
According to the EFCC preliminary report sighted by our correspondent, EFCC stated that it commenced full investigation into the finances of the NFF where it discovered that the domiciliary accounts of the NFF domiciled with Zenith Bank and UBA had received total inflow of $16,417,761 from FIFA and CAF between January, 2014 and June, 2016 as follows:

Magu in the report also informed Buhari that investigation into the case had been concluded. He added that Christopher Andekin; Head, Finance and Administration, NFF, Jafaru Mamzah and a cashier with the Finance and Administration department of NFF, Rajan Zaka were indicted and arraigned on October 15, 2018 before Justice P.O. Affem of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, No 19 Maitama Abuja on five criminal charges of conspiracy and criminal breach of trust by a public officer.
 
The EFCC’s boss further informed Buhari that the commission also received another petition dated April 24, 2016 captioned ‘Monumental stealing and financial crisis in the Nigeria Football Federation’, from James Peters of Amal Pepple Estate, Abuja.
 
He stated that in the course of investigation, the Minister (Sports) forwarded to the commission, documents in support of the petition revealing sponsorship deals amounting to N1.14bn and $1.55m via his letter No. HMY &SP/003/2018/55 dates August 7, 2018.
 
Magu said, “Investigation into this petition has so far established that the NFF has sponsorship deals with 21 corporate organisation. The investigation further revealed that between 2008 and 2018, 11 out of the 21 corporate organisations made sponsorship payment of N5,288,990,000 and $1,550,000 to NFF as against the amounted stated in the ministers’ letter under reference above.


“One of the companies appointed as financial consultant to the NFF is owned by the 2nd Vice President of the NFF in person of Alhaji Shehu Dikko. The audit trail of the funds and its utilisation is currently ongoing with a view to prosecuting anyone found culpable of any offence.”

A purported leaked audio has shown that all may not be well with the ruling All Progressives Congress following the criticism heaped on the President by a subordinate.

The Director-General of the Buhari Presidential Campaign Organisation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, has been caught on tape allegedly criticising President Muhammadu Buhari, Punch has reported.
 
The report revealed that the audio clip, which is less than 10 seconds, was posted on Twitter by Reno Omokiri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.
 
In the clip which could not be authenticated by The PUNCH, Amaechi, who is also the Minister of Transportation, purportedly said Buhari neither reads nor listens to anyone.
 
Amaechi purportedly said, “The President is not listening to anybody. He doesn’t care. You can write anything you want. The President doesn’t care. Does he read?”
 
The context in which Amaechi made the statement was unknown.
 
The person who the minister was talking to is also not stated.
 
However, Omokri, who is a staunch critic of the Buhari government, said he had evidence to show that the audio was genuine.
 
He threatened to release more audio clips in the event that Amaechi denies the authenticity of the clip.
 
Omokri wrote, “We have more of the secretly recorded audios of Chibuike Amaechi, DG of the Muhammadu Buhari campaign, saying terrible things about Buhari’s government. I hear Amaechi wants to lie that he was referring to Goodluck Jonathan.

 
“Let him do that and I will release part two which clearly shows he referred to Buhari.”
 
Omokri said Amaechi had no respect for Buhari and even stated in another audio clip that former President Olusegun Obasanjo was the only Nigerian leader he respects.
 
He added, “The man has no iota of respect for Buhari. In fact, he (Amaechi) hero worshipped former President Obasanjo in the tape and said he is the only worthy Nigerian leader. They know the truth but hide it.”
 
Attempts to get a response from Amaechi proved abortive as his Spokesman, David Iyofor neither responded to phone calls nor a text message sent to him on Saturday.

  Govs Fear Tinubu’s Role As Buhari Inaugurates Campaign Council

There is rising discontent within the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the composition of its presidential campaign council billed to be inaugurated tomorrow by President Muhammadu Buhari, Akelicious has learnt.

A statement issued by Director, Strategic Communications, APC Presidential Campaign Council, Mr. Festus Keyamo, said the inauguration would take place at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.


But some prominent members of the party are frowning on the composition of the council, which they allege is populated mainly by people believed to be loyal to the National Leader of APC, Bola Tinubu. This has created intense disaffection among stakeholders.

Keyamo’s statement said Buhari was expected to conduct the inauguration in his capacity as chairman of the campaign council.

Three major elements are said to have influenced the composition of the campaign council. They are the Bola Tinubu factor, issue of the alleged cabal within the Buhari government, and the Rotimi Amaechi factor. But the other tendencies are believed to have been dwarfed by the Tinubu factor.

Besides Tinubu’s prevailing influence, the structure of the council is believed to be too unwieldy to facilitate the achievement of the expected results. For example, some members of the party are said to be questioning the need for two chairmen – Buhari and Tinubu – in a presidential campaign council, calling it undue duplication.

The same argument is being pushed against the choice of two secretaries for the council, in the persons of Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, and a former Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Lagos State, Mr. Dele Alake.

Some prominent APC members are worried that Tinubu could secure such a strategic position while the vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, and the national chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, are appointed deputies.

There are issues, too, with the zonal coordination of the campaign, which is practically taken away from the governors. This is a departure from what obtained in 2015, when the governors not only coordinated, but also agreed among themselves who should lead each zone. Many aggrieved members say the governors have been practically excluded from any role in the election, since looking after their states is a responsibility that comes naturally for them in any election.

Besides, persons appointed to coordinate in the zones are suspected to have been chosen to either work at cross-purposes with the governors or serve as counterforces for certain persons in the respective zones. This development is creating crisis in the party.

The appointment of Olusola Oke, a former governorship candidate in Ondo State, for instance, as the coordinator for South-west is said to have been done without consultation with the state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, let alone other governors from the zone. The implication is that he is not likely to work well with governors in the zone, more so as he is believed to have been put in that position by Tinubu, essentially to rival Akeredolu and his allies.

A similar situation is said to be playing out in the North-west with the appointment of a former governor of Sokoto State, Aliyu Wamakko, as coordinator, to the dissatisfaction of Governors Mohammed Badaru of Jigawa and Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State.

In the South-east, the appointment of Sharon Ikeazor has also not gone down well with many leaders in the zone, including Minister of Labour Chris Ngige, who are said to see her choice as sheer disrespect for their place as leaders in the zone.

The choice of a former Akwa Ibom State governor, Godswill Akpabio, as the South-south coordinator is being interpreted in many quarters to mean the creation of a counterforce in the zone against the influence of the Director-General of the campaign and Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi.

Many aggrieved leaders of the party also believe that not giving an important role in the campaign to a person like the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, means that the composition is not properly thought out.

In fact, the vice president is alleged to be running his show privately with one of his aides, independent of the campaign council, a development the aggrieved members are interpreting to mean poor composition and coordination of the campaign council.

Toke Makinwa has angrily called out a 'deadbeat' father who she simply identifies as 'Bolaji'.


According to her, Bolaji beat up the mother of his child, smashed her phone and threatened her despite leaving her stranded while she was pregnant. Toke has now taken up the case and issued a 24-hour ultimatum to Bolaji to 'contact her (mother of his child), buy back the phone he smashed in the process and leave her the heck alone'.

The 43-year-old Islamic cleric, Abdulsalam Salaudeen, who was arrested by the Lagos state police command for allegedly raping a five-year-old Arabic schoolgirl, says his enemies made him commit the crime, IgbereTv News reports.


Recall that Salaudeen was on December 28th 2018, caught on camera having anal sex with a 5-year-old girl that was attending his Arabic classes on Awoyemi Street, Igando Road.


Speaking to newsmen, Saludeen who is a father of five, buried his head in shame as he recounted how he fought with the devil before sexually assaulting the little girl


“It is the work of the devil. I have been living in Lagos for 25 years. I have a wife and five children. My wife and three of the children live with me. My wife does not deny me of sex. The girl was brought for Arabic class about five months ago. On that day, I asked her to go and sweep a section of the class. The place was separated by a wall and I followed her. I asked her to stand on a bench and face the wall. I rolled up her skirts and removed her panties. As I wanted to penetrate her from the anus, I said ‘aausubillahi, aausubillahi (God forbid)’. It was the devil that pushed me to it. My joystick only grazed her private parts.


“While I was living in Ikotun, I was accused of raping one of the children attending my class. But I did not rape the girl. She needed a uniform we used in the class and I took her to a tailor to take her measurements. I have been battling with spiritual wars since then. My enemies are many and they have been casting spells on me. I relocated to Igando and started a new Arabic class.” he said


Salaudeen would be charged to court soon, IgbereTv News report.

Barely 24 hours after Governor Bello Masari of Katsina raised the alarm on the invasion of the state by armed bandits from neighbouring Zamfara, the state government has expressed doubts if the general elections scheduled to begin with the presidential polls next month will hold in parts of the state because of the precarious security situation across some eight local government areas.

Governor Masari had last Wednesday alerted the nation, at the opening ceremony of an emergency security meeting at the Government House, that armed robbers and kidnappers had literally taken over Katsina State as he consequently tagged the state unsafe for anybody including him.

Briefing reporters on Thursday evening, on some of the deliberations at the meeting, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Mustapha Mohammed Inuwa, warned that unless the security situation is addressed the elections may not hold in at least eight local government areas of the state.

Described as frontline locations controlled by bandits and cattle rustlers, the local government areas are, Jibia, Batsari, Safana, Dan-Musa, Faskari, Sabuwa, Dandume, Kankara and parts of Kafur, Masari’s local government. Jibia shares “porous” boundaries with the Republic of Niger, routes activities of unrepentant smugglers thrive with regular bloody clashes with joint security patrol teams from Nigeria and Niger. Apart from this, the local governments have a common denominator governing them as they are all linked with the Rugu forest, said to be some 2010 square kilometres stretch, starting from the Republic of Niger, through to Katsina and parts of Kaduna State. Comparable only to the dreaded Sambisa forest in Borno State, Rugu forest is reportedly a comfort zone for bandits and other criminal elements who apparently exploit the terrain to remain virtually out of reach of the security forces.

According to Mustapha, “certainly, if the situation continues this way, it is going to affect the elections. If you ask INEC officials to go and conduct the elections in the affected areas they may not be willing to go there. We have to safeguard the places before the elections.”

The expanded security council meeting had traditional rulers, security chiefs in the state, interim local council chairmen from the affected local government areas, village heads and religious leaders, among others in attendance. Mustapha said that the meeting resolved to raise a committee which he heads, to examine all the issues discussed and how to tackle them.

As he put it, “I hope you are all aware of the measures this government has been taking in handling the security situation in the state. We have archived a lot especially in the area of cattle rustling and banditry. We were able to curtail the issue of castle rustling to a reasonable level and banditry to to some extent because of the measures taken by government. Unfortunately, a couple of weeks back, the issue of kidnapping became so serious to a level that the experience we had over cattle rustling became a child’s play.

“The meeting identified lack of synergy among the security forces fighting bandits in Zamfara Kaduna and Katsina states. We agreed that these states and the Republic of Niger must come together to tackle this problem headlong. The meeting also identified that the security is grossly inadequate especially the police and therefore mandated the governor to solicit the assistance of the Inspector-General of Police to increase the police personnel and equip them with modern equipment.

“We may also have to de-gazzete some of the frontline areas where these activities take place, particularly the forests close the urban centres in the state. Those places were initially designed to be grazing areas for livestock but the criminals have turned them to their hiding place. The Emirs of Katsina and Daura as well as the ulama will be involved in this and we urge them not only to intensify their prayers but to equally continually appeal to their subjects to fear God.”

Analysing the security situation in the state, an apparently embattled Masari had told participants at the meeting on Wednesday that, “no one, including myself, is safe, I am not safe.” He ranked cattle rustling number three on his list of acts of prevailing threats to security of lives and property in the state, noting that kidnaping and armed robbery have taken the centre stage.

According to the governor, “our state is currently under serious siege, by bandits, kidnappers, with castle rustlers taking the third position. Kidnaping is now the order of the day in Katsina State. Armed robbery is also now the order of the day in Katsina State. Only two days ago, some people left my residence at about 3am and when they got to the Ring Road area, a gang of of about five fully armed men robbed them at gunpoint. So, this is how bad it has become now. All the security reports I received today (Wednesday) is either about kidnapings or armed robbery. So, our state is under siege and that is why we decided to call for this extra-ordinary meeting. No one, including myself is safe. A woman, I was told, was abducted by kidnappers and after demanding N5 million they shot the person who took the money to them.”

The Zamfara connection

The eight most affected local governments in Katsina share boundaries with Zamfara State where armed banditry currently reigns supreme, according to reports. Traveling on the 150-kilometre Jibia – Gusua road through Kaura Namoda has become nightmarish for motorists as bandits continue to harvest commuters and abduct them into the nearby forests around Gidan Jaja, Chabas and Yan Bedi, all close to Katsina. According a recent report, victims whose relations are not able to pay the ransom demanded are butchered and sold as spare parts to herbalists.

Last week, some 2000 persons, according to the Katsina State Emergency Management Agency, fled their communities in Zamfara and currently taking refuge at various locations in Kankara local government area of Katsina.

Until recently, bandits had found fertile ground in parts of Katsina State with hoodlums embarking on bloody raids on a number of communities in Safana, Batsari, Jibia, Danmusa, Kurfi, Dutsima, Kankakara, Dandume, Faskari and Sabuwa local government areas.

It’s leadership failure, PDP claims

Reacting to the Masari outcry, the main opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina State urged both Masari and President Buhari to step aside, having failed, according to the party, to provide the necessary security for citizens. According to the PDP Chairman who is also the party’s governorship running mate, Alhaji Salisu Majigiri, “this is a confession from the Chief Security Officer of the state and I think the best thing Masari can do is to take the path of honour and step aside as governor. His resignation will pave way for Katsina not to continue to be under siege.”

The Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Digital, New Media, Tolu Ogunlesi, has reacted to a short audio that has gone viral online, in which Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi allegedly spoke ill about the President.

Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, posted the clip on his page.

In the short audio released by Omokri on his twitter page, Amaechi was allegedly heard saying Buhari does not listen to complaints of Nigerians, nor read comments concerning his administration.

“The President does not listen to anybody. Does he even read,” Amaechi allegedly said.

The former presidential spokesman wrote: “Nigerians hear the audio of Rotimi Amaechi’s conversation, they may weep. The man has no iota of respect for Buhari.

“In fact, he hero worshipped former President Obasanjo in the tape and said he is the only worthy Nigerian leader. They know the truth, but hide it!”

Omokri further threatened to release more audio of Amaechi criticizing Buhari if the minister does not own up to the statement.

However, Ogunlesi has taken to his Twitter page, to claim that the recording is from 2014 and was in fact, directed towards Jonathan.

“Audio from 2014 or so. At the height of Amaechi’s fight with GEJ.

“In the (paraphrased) words of Victor AD – WETIN YOU GAIN #DubaiStrategy,” Ogunlesi wrote.

Some Hausa Men traveling along East-West Road (Bayelsa Road) were involved in an accident in Okogbe Town.

Report reaching us has it that 18 seaters accidentally ran into a shop along East-West Road in Okogbe Town in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers state.

Groovenaija360 gathered that the bus belongs to the Sokoto state transport service and was fully loaded with some Hausa Men.

The accident which occurred at about 1 pm today claimed no life, however, some passengers sustained minor injuries.

  S’east Govs: We’ll Resist Attempt To Use Security Agencies To Rig Election

The South East Governors’ Forum yesterday noted that it would resist any attempt to use security agencies, especially the Nigerian Army to rig the 2019 general election under the guise of Operation Python Dance III


Consequently, the forum asked the Nigerian Army to be more professional in the discharge of their duties as they embark on the Python Dance III “to win the confidence of the people of the zone in the face of heightened tension ahead of the 2019 general election.

The Chairman of the forum and Ebonyi State Governor, Chef David Umahi made the comment at a meeting with the General Officer Commanding, 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Abubarka Maikobi at a meeting held at the Government House, Abakaliki.

At the meeting, Umahi noted that Ebonyi Sate and indeed the entire South East “will resist with every sense of vigour any attempt to rig the general election using the security agencies as tools.”

The governor, equally, said the only way Nigeria would exist beyond 2019 was to hold credible and transparent elections where all security agencies were seen to be neutral and unbiased.

Umahi explained that the South East had been greatly troubled by the presence of the army, especially because of the recent clash between the army and members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Umahi, therefore, called on the army “to remain neutral and maintain high level of professionalism in the discharge of their duties while the operation lasts.”

He, also, challenged the army “to come up with workable policies that will earn them the confidence of the people of the zone. The army and other security agencies must remain neutral in the coming general election in the state and by extension, the South East.

He said the zone “will not have any problem with the place the army may deem fit to establish their operational headquarters as long as they maintain their professional standard of protecting the people of the zone instead of being seen or accused of killing them.

Also speaking at the meeting, Maikobi said he was in Ebonyi state to familiarise himself with the government and people of the South East and informed him about the plan of the Nigerian Army to commence Operation Egwu Eke III.

“I am here to inform you that I have been mandated by the Chief of Army Staff to formally inform you as the Chief Security Officer of the State that exercise Egwu Eke III was flagged off in Maiduguri, Borno State.

“The exercise is scheduled to take place from January 1 to 28 February, 2019. We have selected Ebonyi under your purposeful leadership as the location for the step-up headquarters for the exercise”

He disclosed that the army “will remain neutral. I assure you and good people of Ebonyi State that the Nigeria Army will remain neutral, professional and totally apolitical. Nigerian army will not compromise its constitutional roles under any guise”.

Shehu Sani, senator representing Kaduna central, has asked Nasir el-Rufai, governor of the state, to caution his wife over her comments on his hair.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, the senator said Hadiza el-Rufai, the governor’s wife, always talks about his hair whenever she is out campaigning.

Hadiza, who is a published author, has been actively involved in the re-election campaign of her husband ahead of the March governorship election.

“I appeal to Mr Governor to caution his wife to stop talking about my hair everywhere she goes on campaigns. Everywhere she goes its all about my hair. Its not my fault if her man is not blessed with hair. I consider it as hate speech. I will report her to Dr Gummi or Council of Imams if she doesn’t stop. Haba Jammaa,” the post read.

He joined the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) shortly thereafter, accusing el-Rufai of organising “Kangaroo primary election” by “imposing his aide”.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SUNDAY, 6TH JANUARY.

HIS BLOOD SPEAKS.
For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord’s death till he come (1 Corinthians 11:26).

What an amazing grace the Lord Jesus brought to us! The Bible says His blood speaks better things than the blood of Abel, crying for salvation, rather than vengeance (Hebrews 12:24). When we take the Communion, we’re testifying that His shed blood in our behalf has brought us into fellowship with God, made us whole, safe, sound, and excellent.

His divine blood speaks your divine health; it speaks to devils of darkness, angels of God, and all of creation that the reason Jesus died has been fulfilled in your life. Jesus never told us to take a drink of water for our healing, even though we might, if we’re led by the Spirit to do so at any time. He never told us to swallow or rub anything, even though we might do so, if we’re particularly led by the Spirit. But one thing He told us to drink is the Cup of His blood! He said to do it in memory of Him.

That blood is greater than any drug or syrup; it’s effectual and effective against any kind of sickness or infirmity. As you partake of the Communion, you’re affirming that nothing of the devil can thrive in your body. His blood was poured out that you may live; so, it makes no difference what the problem is; by the power of the Holy Spirit, the victory is yours.

Perhaps you’ve been suffering from an incurable blood disease or having symptoms of cancer; the blood of Jesus speaks your healing. Believe this and affirm accordingly. The Communion of His body and blood serves to remind us of our unbroken and unbreakable fellowship with Him, as well as our wholeness or completeness in Him. His body was broken that we may never be broken by sickness, disease or pain. He gave His life that you may live in health and strength. Hallelujah!

Drink the Cup with this consciousness, and His peace and glory will reign in your life.

PRAYER

I’ve been transferred from the domain of darkness and established in God’s Kingdom of life, light, and glory, where I reign and rule with Jesus. I affirm that I’ll never be sick, broken, wounded or be defeated, because I have the life of God in me. Righteousness, success, divine health, and supernatural prosperity are part of my divine heritage in Christ. Glory to His Name forever!

According to the chats she had with her friends, just before her death, she dreamt that she was bleeding, and was told in the dream, that her boyfriend had used her for ritual.

Upon waking up, she noticed that she was indeed bleeding through her private part, and she it wasn’t her period, as she had already seen her period.
Immediately after this, she quickly called her pastor, who confirmed to her that her boyfriend, had indeed used her for rituals.


Wendy went on to reveal that the pastor told her to have a river bath within 3 days or risk losing her life. However, it seems she eventually lost the battle.

  Young Boy Flogs A Masquerade That Assaulted Him In Calabar

There was mild drama, yesterday, along a road in Calabar, Cross River State, as a young boy flogged a masquerade that assaulted him.

It was gathered that trouble started when the masquerade obstructed the boy and prevented him from proceeding on his trip. The boy then told him to leave his way, but he refused and instead flogged the boy with his cane. .

An eyewitness said he told the masquerade to live the boy, again the masquerade refused. Angered by the masquerade’s defiance, the boy warned that if the cane touched him again he would deal with him. .

Bent on being disgraced, the masquerade damned the consequence and hit him with the cane again. He, however, got more that he bargained for this time around, as the boy collected the cane from him and gave him a clinical flogging.

The former governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu, when presenting the Governorship flag to the PDP candidate in Jigawa state on Thursday said there will be trouble if the ruling All Progressive Congress rigs the 2019 general election.

He also said every Nigerians home and abroad and also other countries will be looking out to how INEC will make the elections devoid of rigging.

He said with the evolution of new media, it would be difficult for anyone to rig the elections.

He also took time to talk about President Muhammadu Buhari’s family owning large shares in Keystone Bank and 9Mobile saying modern technology would reveal if this is true.

He said the administration of the Buhari let government has taken Nigeria back to the “preliminary level of 1984-85s where things started deteriorating”. And that the PDP performed well when in office.

“In every change of government, the newcomers will tell you that the previous administration didn’t perform well, the idea was to castigate, justify so as to legitimise. PDP for 16 years established the foundation for the development of this country.”

“PDP is more familiar with the pattern, understand the democracy, constitution and the people of Nigeria. Nigerians now have an opportunity to compare and contrast between political parties that have served the people.”

The management of Bowen University has expelled 29 students and further suspended 26 others indefinitely over an alleged anti-social behaviour. 

Bowen University announced the expulsion of the 29 students and indefinite suspension of the 26 students in a statement issued by the institution’s Registrar, Dr K. A. Ogunleye and uploaded on the school's website.

Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says Nigeria needs a president who can travel to any part of the world.

NAN reports that the former governor of Edo state on Friday alleged that Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), “can only travel to Dubai”.

He said President Muhammadu Buhari’s integrity cannot be faulted anywhere in the world, hence the need for Nigerians to vote him again.

Oshiomhole made the remark in Jos during the flag-off of the re-election bid of Simon Lalong, Plateau state governor.

The APC chairman said: “We have a president whose integrity cannot be faulted anywhere in the world, but the PDP has a presidential candidate who can only travel to Dubai.

“We know our developmental partners. They are not only in Dubai and so we must vote a president that can travel to any part of the world to lure investors into the country.”

Contrary to the assertion of the APC chairman, the PDP presidential candidate visited the UK in April 2018, where he spoke at Chatham House.

Following the release of a leak audio yesterday where Rotimi Amachi was heard telling someone that the president does not listen to anybody and does not even read, Former Presidential aide and a strong critic of the Buhari administration who released the now viral audio has advised the minister of transport and agents ofbthe government not to waste their time denying anything as they are in possession of many other secret recordings of the minister.

Amaechi who is known to throw tantrums at short notice is the current Director General of the Buhari campaign council . Historically Amechi has never hidden his disdain for the villa cabal especially after the media reported news that they were the brain behind the cancellation of some of the major projects including a security contract fronted by Amaechi but cancelled by Buhari.

Reno who took to his facebook page , where he wrote " We have more of the secretly recorded audios of Amaechi saying terrible things about Buhari’s govt. On his Twitter handle , Reno went further to state that "If Nigerians hear the audio of Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi’s conversation, they may weep. The man has no iota of respect for Buhari. In fact the worshipped former President Obasanjo in the tape and said he is the only worthy Nigerian leader. They know the truth, but hide it!

These shocking revelation has already thrown the APC campaign council into confusion with many openly calling for Amaechis immidiate Sack both as Minister and DG of the campaign council.

  Amina Zakari: HURIWA Gives INEC 48 Hours To Rescind New Appointment

Non-governmental organisation and pro-democracy group, the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), has given the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) 48 hours to rescind its appointment of Amina Zakari to head its electoral committee for the collation of results.

HURIWA likened the appointment to "match-fixing", saying it shows clear signs that the forthcoming presidential poll has already been “technically manipulated”, following the choice "of a biological relation of President Muhammadu Buhari, Mrs. Amina Zakari, to head the core committee to co-ordinate the collation of results of the general election”.

HURIWA has also asked the National Assembly to declare a state of electoral emergency and pass a vote-of-no-confidence in the hierarchy of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

They have also supported calls for dissolution of the election management board and the appointment of a new team of “impartial and patriotic Nigerians to head the electoral umpire and conduct free, fair, transparent and unbiased general election”.

A statement by Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko and Zainab Yusuf, the group’s National Coordinator and National Media Affairs Director, respectively, read: "We have just ended a six hours long national emergency parley in Abuja of our core national leaders and the leaderships of over 35 non-governmental organisations and our attention dovetailed into the emerging but very extensively ethically damaging national emergency now occasioned by the illegal and immoral appointment of Mrs Amina Zakari, the blood relation of President Muhammadu Buhari, to head the collation of results team for the most strategic national election in Nigeria's nascent democracy, in which her uncle, President Muhammadu Buhari, is desperately interested in winning a second tenure and is hotly contested by some distinguished Nigerians.

“This aberration of this heavily compromised INEC is like making a sister of a goalkeeper of one of the two competing football teams as the central referee of the most competitive finalists' match and you expect that there will be fair play and justice. Doing such a morally damaging action is like match-fixing. What has happened today in INEC, with the ill-advised decision of Yakubu Mahmood to give the most sensitive appointment to the biological sibling of a major contender in the same electoral contest, amounts to the electoral equivalent of match fixing.

“This current chairman of INEC is surely an agent of destabilisation and electoral manipulation. We have, on many occasions asked for the removal of the duo of the chairman of INEC and the niece of the president, Mrs Zakari Amina, who is a national commissioner in INEC because we have always maintained that she has played less than dignified roles as INEC's national commissioner in the last three years to such an extent that almost all of the elections conducted in the last three years in which she played pivotal supervisory roles have always ended up being manipulated in favour of the political platform of her uncle and the All Progressives Congress whose tendencies have whittled down the integrity and credibility of the electoral process in the country.

“We are giving the INEC chairman 48 hours to rescind this toxic decision or the organised civil society community will meet and take a range of actions to draw the attention of the global community to this criminality and outright rigging that has already started to unfold.

“Nigerians of good conscience must reject this criminality of INEC and we call on the National Assembly to rescue the February presidential election from the clutches of hawks in the presidency bent on rigging the election by all means and foisting an unpopular winner on Nigerians, which may snowball into long drawn civil strife with broad-based consequences for the survival of constitutional democracy.

“Nigeria is about to be destroyed through carefully choreographed electoral heist and the world watches without acting to stave off the danger which could constitute the greatest threat to Africa and the world.”

The Jigawa State police command has said a 40- year-old-man, Abdullahi Jafaru, attempted to commit suicide after his wife, Halima, refused to return home following a dispute.

According to a PremiumTimes report, Abdullahi poured petrol on himself and set himself ablaze in Shunar, Kafin Hausa LGA of the State

According to the Jigawa police spokesperson, Audu Jinjiri, on December 31, 2018, Halima left her matrimonial home because of a misunderstanding with her husband.

Jinjiri said attempts made by Jafaru to convince Halima, his first of two wives, to return were unsuccessful. The couple reportedly have six children together.

Not being able to convince his wife, a troubled Jafaru then poured petrol on himself and set himself ablaze. He was, however, rescued and rushed to the hospital.

But while still on the sick bed receiving treatment, Jafaru has continued calling Halima’s name, even though his second wife remains with him at the hospital taking care of him.

  2019: Outcome Of IGP Idris’s Meeting With Buhari Emerges

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Idris Ibrahim, on Friday, visited the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he was reported to have met behind closed-doors with President Muhammadu Buhari.
The IGP, who was reported to have clocked 35 years in service of the Nigeria Police Force on Jan. 3, was sighted dressed in his official uniform moving straight towards the president’s office.

According to media reports, Idris was expected to retire from service on attainment of the mandatory 35 years in service on Thursday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), however, gathered that the tenure of the IGP might have been extended even though no official statement had been released to this effect.

An aide very closed to the IGP, who preferred not to be named, told NAN that the IGP’s visit to the villa might not be unconnected with the issue of his extension.

“We are hopeful that the tenure of our IGP has been extended by Mr President because you can see him today in his official uniform even though the media said he was to retire yesterday (Thursday).

“But all will be known after this meeting,” the source said.

IGP Idris, who was appointed by President Buhari on March 21, 2016, replaced Solomon Arase, who retired from the police force on 21 June 2016.
Idris, who will be clocking 60 years on Jan. 15, 2019, enlisted into the Nigerian Police Force in 1984, after graduating from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria with a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture.

A former Delta Governor, Chief James Ibori says Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa deserves a second term to sustain peace and developments in the state. 

Ibori said this in his goodwill message on Friday when the State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) commenced its 2019 elections campaign for governorship and other candidates at Oghara Township Stadium, Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area. 

He said that Okowa had performed creditably and had kept the peace and unity in line with the political mandate of the people of the state. 

Ibori urged the Anioma people of the state to take up the challenge of ensuring the return of Okowa for a second term in office in March. He said that Okowa had performed exceptionally, saying that he (Okowa) understood the political arrangements and had kept faith by honouring the political leaders of the state. 

The former governor said that Okowa deserved a second term in office and urged all Deltans to support his governorship re-election bid. “I have no doubt in my mind that the governor has done exceedingly well. 

He is confident, capable, knowledgeable, intelligent and have the capacity to rule the state for a second term. “Okowa belongs to this political family and he has all it takes to lead. “I am indeed very pleased with you because when I was away, in 2015 you (Okowa) started your campaign here and today you have returned to commence your campaign in Oghara. 

“That tells me that you (Okowa) know the political history of this state and I (Chief James Ibori), as the head of the political family in Delta, I declare and decree that you have all it takes to lead our state. 

“Gov. Okowa knows what to do at any time. He has respect for elders and I pray God to guide him and anybody that is planning evil will not succeed. 

“On my own, I am solidly behind you. I am with you spiritually and politically and for you the Anioma people, this is your challenge; take up the challenge,’’ Ibori said. 

He urged the people of the state to go all out and support Okowa and all the candidates of the PDP in the coming elections. 

On his part, Okowa reassured the people of his resolve to continue with the poverty alleviation agenda of his administration if re-elected. He said that plans were on to continue and complete all road projects awarded, job creation and other developmental programmes in the state. 

Okowa said that with the achievements of his administration in the past three and half years, he was sure of victory in March. He called on the people for support and urged them to carry the campaign to the grassroots. 

The governor was confident that more people would defect from the opposition party to the PDP before the general elections. He challenged the oppositions to a debate, saying: “I offer myself to a debate on issues concerning Delta. “Can you be a governor when you are nowhere to be found. We don’t want strangers. 

“They may be born here but they are strangers, who comes in only during elections. “We are sure of winning the oppositions in all the senatorial districts, even in Ethiope East. So I urge you to take the campaign message from door to door.’’ 

The governor thanked the leaders of the party, the traditional rulers, youths and women for their support which had ensured peace and security in the state and had promoted the economy of the state and the nation. He said that because of the existing peace in the state, the state was number four in crude oil production in 2015 and had now become number one. 

Okowa promised to utilise the increasing revenue to better the lives of the people if re-elected as governor. 

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the state PDP Chairman, Mr Kingsley Esiso, handed over the party’s flags to all candidates of the party for the forthcoming elections in the state and National Assembly. 

NAN reports that the occasion was more of a carnival at Oghara, a town regarded as the political capital of PDP in Delta.

Two lovers reportedly drowned while ‘having sex in a river’ to celebrate the new year, and their family have blamed it all on a mermaid.

The two lovers identified as Charmaine Nyakata (21) and 17-year-old Munashe Nedziva, were allegedly having sex in Mayambura River near Prince Charles Dam in Seke, Zimbabwe, when the incident occurred.

While some believed that the man drowned while attempting to save his lover from drowning, the Unclad bodies of the lovers where retrieved by police sub-aqua divers and the clothes of the lovers were found on the edge of the dam placed on stones.

However Silvester Lafoti, Charmaine’s uncle who conveyed thoughts of the family in an interview, said the family suspected that the two were taken by a mermaid believed to be in the dam. This suspicion was backed by a beer bottle spotted floating on top of the water, before the lovers drowned.

”We have lost a girl who was so brilliant and was supposed to do her Upper Six this year, We are not sure of what actually happened, but from what we gathered from the people who were celebrating New Year at the place, we are convinced that the two were taken by a mermaid,” said Lafoti.

The family further claimed that the two had been taken by mermaid following findings that Charmaine’s body was found without her eyes, however fish mongers dismissed the suggestions saying fishes could have feasted on the body.

Governor Simon Lalong, who was presented with APC flag to contest the governorship election in the state said he could die for President Buhari because of his commitment towards tackling insecurity in Plateau and the bail-out he supported him to clear workers salary.

“People asked why was I dying for Buhari and I told them that I will die for Buhari because he is my helper. He has help in addressing insecurity in Plateau and gave us bail-out to clear worker’s salaries, there is nothing more than that; he will win Plateau far better than 2015.”

Director General, Buhari Campaign Organisation and Minister of Transport, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Ameachi, described Lalong as a humble person who is living on his campaign promises.

He blamed the PDP for dwelling their campaign on the fact that Nigerians were hungry and said if they had left the N2 billion they stole, Nigeria wouldn’t have been importing rice today.

Ameachi said PDP was not honest that was why they emptied the country’s treasury and urged Nigerians to vote out PDP even in hunger.

“The next election is not about Buhari and Atiku; it should be about what PDP has done in 16 years and what APC has done in three years. Buhari is addressing the problem of Nigeria and very soon we will overcome the present challenges.”

Wife of the president, Aisha Buhari, who was represented by former Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Dame Pauline Tallen, said a vote for Buhari and Lalong is a vote for the development of Nigeria and Plateau State.

She admonished women and youths in Plateau State to mobilise massive votes for the president and all APC candidates during the 2019 general elections.

Northern Vice Chairman, of the Buhari/Osinbajo Campaign Organisation, Sen. Gorge Akume, described Buhari as a professor of infrastructure in Nigeria

He, Buhari, worked tirelessly to frustrate the third-term agenda champion by the former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, and said the president had the masses as his business partners.

He noted that there was no one that was contesting against President Muhammadu Buhari, saying Atiku Abubakar would fail the election.

Too many people are struggling in life when they ought to be living in God’s blessings. Some are always praying to God to give them this or that, whereas the Bible says He’s already blessed us with ALL spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 1:3).

God has already done all He ever needed to do for man. The Bible says, _*“For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world”*_ (Hebrews 4:3). God isn’t in heaven, thinking of what to do about your healing, deliverance, prosperity or any such thing; no. He’s not even thinking of what to do about the salvation of the one who hasn’t yet received Christ. You might then wonder, “So what’s God doing?” He’s at rest!

He already did everything He needed to do about your salvation, health, prosperity, etc., and finished the works before the foundation of the world. Now, He wants you to enjoy all that belongs to you in Christ. He wants you to live in blessings. 2 Peter 1:3 says, _*“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness….”

Can you now see that there’s no need for you to struggle in life? Paul emphasized the same thing; he said in 1 Corinthians 3:21, _*“…all things are yours.”*_ Since all things are yours, you ought to cease from all struggles; refuse the hard life. Remember what the Word says: _*“For we which have believed do enter into rest...”*_ (Hebrews 4:3).

Being born again, you’ve been brought into the Promised Land, into the land of blessings. What God expects from you now is for you to arise—wake up—into this experience, and live in the fulfilment of His blessings and promises.

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the
All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi
Frank, has asked the Independent National
Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman to resign
his appointment for attending a clandestine
meeting and plotting to compromise the
forthcoming presidential election in favour of
Buhari through the appointment of Buhari’s neice
to oversee the collation of presidential votes even
before the first ballot was cast.
He stated that he is in possession of reliable
information about how the INEC chair and Zakari
were smuggled into the villa at about 12.30am
on Thursday after which Buhari, accompanied by
few of his trusted aides, joined them inside the
Glass House for the meeting.
He disclosed that Yakubu arrived for the meeting
in a Black Peugeot 508, wearing a blue caftan
while Zakari came in a black Prado Jeep,
wearing a jalabiya.
He said the meeting lasted for 45 minutes.
He noted that Amina Zakari was the
Commission’s head of electoral operations and
logistics before she was redeployed to the
department of health and welfare in October 12,
2018, following misgivings about her clear
partisan posture in various elections conducted
when she held sway as head of operations and
logistics at INEC.
He added that her relationship with Buhari
became suspect as many believed she was
working for the re-election of her uncle – Buhari
– and the success of the APC, which became
obvious in the Edo, Ekiti and Osun governorship
elections and other rerun elections that she
supervised during the period.
He said that the appointment of Zakari to such a
sensitive assignment was a culmination of the
pressure the Presidency had brought to bare on
Prof. Yakubu to return Zakari to the Operations
department since October.
Frank called on the Chairman of INEC to resign
his appointment for attending such a clandestine
meeting and plotting to compromise the
forthcoming presidential election in favour of
Buhari through the appointment of Buhari’s neice
to oversee the collation of presidential votes even
before the first ballot was cast.
He added that Nigerians have lost confidence in
him to conduct a free, fair and credible 2019
elections.
“A man who can succumb to pressure and
brazenly compromise to further the desire of a
candidate in an election cannot be trusted to be
impartial during a general election with high
stakes. I think he needs to undergo a test for
codeine and tramadol abuse to think that
Nigerians can be fooled that Zakari’s recent
appointment is not a back door move to make
her relevant in caring for Buhari’s interests during
the Presidential elections,” Frank stated.
He observed that even though Buhari benefitted
from a free, fair and credible elections in 2015,
he is not ready to advance the nation’s
democracy by sticking to free and fair elections
this time.
Frank said: “This is largely why he has refused to
signed the amended Electoral Act 2010 and has
now shopped for his Neice to oversee the
hatchet job of rigging him back to power.
“Buhari is running away from a free and fair
election. He is depending on INEC and the
security forces to allocate votes to him. That is
why he refused to sign the amended Electoral
Act.
“As a perpetual law breaker, he has again broken
the law by refusing to allow the Inspector General
of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to go on retirement after
spending his ‘overly doctored 35 mandatory
years’ in the service of the country as a Police
Officer.”
He insisted that Nigerians are hopeful that
Buhari’s desperation will not set Nigeria ablaze
post elections but lamented that “the way he
(Buhari) is going, crisis will definitely engulf the
country because the opposition is determined not
to accept any rigging or compromised electoral
process during the next election.
“If Buhari has any iota of integrity, let him
demonstrate it now by allowing for a free, fair
and credible elections in February and March. We
know he has no integrity and the opposition is
ready to meet any of his shenanigans with equal
and greater shenanigans.”
The Bayelsa-born political activist called on all
patriotic Nigerians including the NLC, TUC, ASUU,
NASU, ASUP, NBA, NMA, traditional and religious
leaders to speak up in order to avert Buhari’s
rigging plot capable of plunging the country into
a bitter and violent crisis.
He also called on the United Nations and
Nigeria’s allies in the advanced democracies –
as members of the international community -
working to sustain peace across the world to
come to the aid of Nigeria at its most trying
times.

Unlike other countries where the management of oil resources are transparent, there are no legally mandated processes or oversight mechanisms for the allocation of blocks or marginal fields in Nigeria. 

Due to the discretional powers given to the President and Minister of Petroleum in the Petroleum act, Oil licenses are perceived as the biggest reward for political patronage in Nigeria, with many oil blocks now owned by politicians, ex military rulers and government cronies. 

A report by the Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) in 2017, stated treat the weakest link in the nation’s oil and gas industry, especially in terms of value addition, is in the area of licensing. Only 30% of the previously allocated oilfields (oil blocks) have reached commercial production. 

Most of the oil blocks are suffering from “acreage sitting” where bid winners do not develop the oil blocks gotten as a result of political patronage, they usually lack the technical and financial capacity to develop these oil blocks. 

Historical Perspective. 

The last bid round for marginal fields was held fourteen years ago with 24 fields awarded to 31 indigenous companies. A marginal field is any field that has reserves booked and reported annually to the DPR and has remained unproductive for 10 years. 

The Obasanjo administration tried to increase the nation’s oil reserves and production capacity from 2.5m bpd to four million bpd and one of the first things they did was to hold licensing rounds. Four licensing rounds were held during his administration- in 2000, 2005, 2006 and 2007, they were marred with controversies and several short comings. 

The timing of the 2007 round- just two weeks before a change of government scared investors off who feared the new administration might reverse some of the deals, coupled with the perception in some quarters that it was the last chance for Obasanjo to favor some people. 

The 2005 round attracted huge bids from unknown firms that didn’t pay up, while that of 2006 caused a scandal after a block after a block left unclaimed at an auction was later awarded in private to an unknown firm that sold it on for $35m. 

Out of the 24 marginal fields awarded in 2003, only eight are currently producing, according to the Department of Petroleum resources. The DPR also stated that 76 out of the 77 oil blocks awarded in 2005, 2006 and 2007 rounds were largely dormant. 

In a Chatham house report titled ‘Thirst for African Oil: Asian National Oil Companies in Nigeria and Angola’ it was revealed that the 2006 bidding list included indigenous consortia with little or no experience in the oil industry, such as Transcorp in which the President was rumored to have had shares. 
The report stated that Taiwan’s Chinese Petroleum Corporation was in a joint venture with Starcrest Nigeria Energy, which was only registered just days before the round without history and credibility as an oil company. Due- diligence investigation showed that Starcrst was owned by businessman Emeka Offor, while the LCV on the block was given ti Shorebeach Nigeria, a company co-owned by Offor and Emmanuel Ojie. 

Yar’Adua, whose administration revoked some of these blocks died after a long illness that dampened his effort to restructure the industry.

In November, 2013 President Jonathan launched a marginal bid round with 31 fields up for grabs. The DPR stated that the process would commence in December 2013 and end in April 2014. The round was highly anticipated but it failed to come on stream without any official reason. 

Regulatory Reform. 

The biggest obstacle to reform in the licensing process is President Buhari’s failure to sign the Petroleum Industrial Governance Bill, after 17 years in the National assembly, the Bukola Saraki led 8th Senate finally took the bull by its horn and delivered a promise by passing the PIGB. 

President Buhari named himself as the Minister of Petroleum resources so as to control the discretionary powers involved with the allocation of oil licenses, the President complained that signing the PIGB will whittle down his powers and he has since renewed a license for Seplat limited without any official bid round and the Minister of state for Petroleum just announced a bid round just before elections. 

How will PIGB solve the corruption and opacity involved in Licensing? . The PIGB looks to create a new regulatory body called the Nigerian Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NPRC) that will serve as the umbrella supervisory body for the Nigeria oil and Gas industry. 

The NPRC will replace the PPRA and DPR and collapse them into one body since they currently have a huge overlap in duties, creating too many red tapes and bureaucratic problems, the PIGB will solve this issue. 

The Minister of Petroleum resources will no longer be allowed to issue oil licenses at will as the minister will answer to the NPRC that will be governed by a 9 man board with a fixed tenure. The NPRC will hold licensing rounds and supervise the entire industry. 

This new agency will be funded from the appropriation act through the National Assembly. President Buhari is withholding his assent to this bill that will open up the licensing process in the Oil sector.
According to the US Energy Information Administration, Nigeria is losing $15bn every year from our failure to sign the Petroleum industrial bills into law. 

As elections approach, it is important for Nigerians to understand how this opaque licensing process affects our every day life and creates an avenue for corruption in the country’s top revenue earner.

The elite and the thieves have ganged-up against APC. But they don’t have the power because they don’t have the number. The number is with the poor and the poor must rise to vote on that day.

This election is between the rich and the poor. Now the poor have realized that they are tired. If at the end of former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s government we had $58 billion, where is the money now? How much did state governments collect? How much did the Federal Government collect? What did they do with the money?

When I was a student at the University of Port Harcourt I predicted that one day the poor will rise. It will get to a point when the poor will begin to eat big men. What you are seeing in Kwara is a modern Tunisia. It was a poor man that started the Arab Spring in Tunisia.

Today Kwara is leading the revolution to change Nigeria. Power must return to the poor. One problem we all have is that even we the poor are being deceived by them.

Big men are in all the parties o! The difference between other parties and ours is that the big men in our party are all progressives. Other parties don’t care, they want to even collect what the poor is eating from them.”.

  Man Caught Stealing Panties In Benin Days After Oba’s Warning. Photos

A young man was apprehended by residents after stealing panties and other clothing items in Edo state.

It was gathered that the Hausa man popularly known as Aboki, stole the items at Lagos street in Ring road area, Benin city and was caught at Orominyan area by the residents.

When asked how much he sells the panties, the young man refused to talk. 

Female leggings, boxers, underwear and other clothing items were also found in his possession. 

This is coming days after the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, warned Nigerian youths, especially yahoo boys stealing pants for money rituals to desist from the act or face the consequences.

The siege on Senator Dino Melaye’s residence in Abuja by the police has finally come to an end after eight days.

The lawmaker, who represents Kogi West constituency, opened the door to the residence himself on Friday afternoon in the presence of police operatives and some senators of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

While coming out of the house, Senator Melaye slumped to the floor and was later assisted onto his feet.

He was thereafter taken to the office of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) in Guzape, the nation’s capital.

Patience: A Great Virtue

Fulton J. Sheen said “Patience is power. Patience is not an absence of action; rather it is “timing; it waits on the right time to act, for the right principles and in the right way.”

Holding the world around us to unrealistic standards often leads to becoming stressed with impatience. It would be great if there were no traffic jams, no long lines at the airports, at the bank or in grocery stores; losing our patience isn’t going to make it any better. The lines will move, passengers will board the plane, clients will complete their transactions, and the cashier at the store will get to you. Life isn’t perfect, people aren’t perfect, and expecting the world to run smoothly for our convenience and according to our schedules is never going to happen. Be patient and give yourself and others a break! Accepting the twists and turns in our daily life with patience and grace is an invaluable virtue. Keeping our expectations realistic about circumstances and also the behavior of all others around us is also essential for our well-being.

Advantages of Patience

Patience gives us the option to cool down and to extend the grace to ourselves and others in that immediate moment - when we need it most. To be patient means we don’t react mindlessly to minor irritations and inconveniences, it gives us the freedom to respond in a more kind and gentle way. Patience has been regarded as one the greatest of virtues in all religions and moral traditions.

Quite often this virtue is essential in dealing with difficulties and difficult people. Patience allows us to be kind to those in a variety of situations and communicate openly to alleviate any misunderstandings and mistrust. The blessing of patience is the freedom to live at our own pace and in our own way. Patience is an extraordinary grace that we extend to others in the most ordinary circumstances. With patience we transcend all the major and minor irritations in our daily lives.

Being patient allows us to keep everything in the right perspective. If we are patient in the midst of all difficult situations, we soon realize that these situations are minor obstacles that we have to accept. Without patience, these scenarios can become unnecessarily overwhelming laced with frustration and anger. These emotions that are detrimental to our well-being and peace of mind.

Patience is the “gatekeeper” between the two worlds of our unconscious impulses and our conscious choices. Patience can close the gate on harmful impulses that are constantly pushing their way up from the layer of hidden conditioned habits and patterns of negative behaviors. Just a little bit of patience goes a long way in breaking our old habits of reacting mindlessly; which leads to many problems. Half of our problems can be eliminated if we are patient with our words and deeds.

When we inculcate a general demeanor of being patient, we gain control of our verbal and physical actions, thus becoming better people. Having patience and self-control means having control over our lives and that is something that produces confidence and strength on its own. We must find ways to practice patience, which in turn enhances self-control, reduces stress, anxiety and anger.

A little boy has shocked his community after it was revealed that he took his own life in reaction to being disciplined by his father.

An 11-year-old boy has killed himself after he was disciplined by his father at Kingdom Hall Road, Ugberikoko Road, Sapele area of Delta state.

The young boy identified as Efe Akori, has on several occasions allegedly made death treats, that he will kill himself each time he is being disciplined.

Report has it that few days ago the father flogged him after he misbehaved. After everyone had left home, Efe was said to have taken a skipping rope to an abandoned store in their 3 bedroom apartment and hung himself.

His elder brother who returned home – saw him struggling and choking to death.

The brother was said to have horridly cut off the rope, but unfortunately, the boy died few minutes later.

Many times in the past days, I have come across a certain image of Buhari’s in the mix, given to various interpretations, from the spurious to the Absurd. A seemingly simple interpretation would suffice — The lifeless one is less aware, more confused. He was simply copying an Erdogan motion, not necessarily mentally propped to observing an Egyptian Islamic cultic promotion.

Many times I have come across another image, similar, in which the gesture occurred in a totally different context, a copycat, just like Buhari too, is also seen attempting an interpretation.

I have read comments on such posts where these two separate images in time and space, have occurred …

Largely, the guy in the related picture showing same gesture, before the Erdogan Rabia sign came to be known, has been called, retarded and tagged, an “Olodo”, a moron if you will…!

The copycat is seen reproducing the four-fingered hand gesture and failing miserably in the process. Is the copycat an imbecile as the image suggests as he does not seem to have interpreted the original correctly…

No…! An Olodo, he could be, but he is Not….
He simply displayed a mind of a lazy student…. Lazy, not because he is Not capable of learning, but because he refused to apply his senses…!

He did what many carried from elementary school to adulthood – Copy others without thinking ?…

In copying as usual, this student still refuses to interpret the signs…The ✋ to him, represents the Trust in the one he copied.
Technically, he copied right, but lost the interpretation…

A terrible example of this same graphic reproduction by a copycat, has happened with far more devastating implications in our polity — Buhari and his own four-fingered gesture!

In today’s, Nigeria, the Preponderance of misrepresentation of the original by Buhari’s lack of presence is far greater in number to attempt taking another of Buhari’s gaffes, seriously…

I’ll be very surprised to see a Buharist, not belonging to the class of Lazy copycats, who only have to use their heads but have refused to.

So…. A supposed 76 year old man who is obviously sick, gestures with his two hands the four-finger gesture and the interpretations now abound from the simple geometry of 4X4, like an SUV transmission system, to the Arithmetic 4+4…iLaugh.

What about the substratum of solid 4-4!??
They want to arrive at 8 years of Buhari by laying claims to 4+4. So I ask, when Buhari was doing his copy-copy of Erdogan, was Erdogan doing a 4+4!!?

In many ways, this is the Real Buhari as usual, making claim to Blametocracy, that is, governance by blaming others for his own mistakes. Buhari did no more than copy the Muslim Brotherhood sign, but did it twice absentmindedly.

He may yet come around to blame the Muslim Brotherhood of Egypt, blame the Muslim saint Rabia Al-Adawiyya, after whom the sign was named. He will of course blame Erdogan who gave the sign the proper names of — Rightness in governance; Barehandedness or Transparency in governance; Independence of Democratic institutions and Solidarity with Anticoup activists. Nine of these apply to Buhari the copycat.

Many times Buhari has met with Erdogan, who uses the Rabia sign more than anyone else in history. Buhari has also probably met with Erdogan more times than with any other Head of State. Blametocracy is the chronic symptom deriving from Lack of Capacity and Dyslexia, Lack of Ability to do self-development, to continually live within the times, to suit the signs of the times…..!

General Buhari, El Rufai at one time told us, never passed a single Military Exam.
General Buhari was the minister of petroleum yet in 2015, he claimed he was unaware of a thing called, “Subsidy”! In 2018, he paid more subsidy on petroleum products more than any other president in history.

He has been blaming everyone else for his Acts of Irresponsibility, as recorded since 1977, 42 years ago…! When the time comes to explain his use of the Rabia sign, Buhari will simply find somebody to blame.

The art of passing the buck is an act of Laziness!

And in the same mold, a technocrat that puts loyalty over objectivity is not, technically speaking, a technocrat. He is a mediocrat!
Blametocracy and Mediocrity are the two most pervading instruments of the Buhari administration, all deriving from copying wrongfully, pasting wrongly and blaming somebody else for it.

Look closely at these images and see how geometry and poetry can be the same thing, both requiring Thinking, Reading and Focusing. But a “cut and paste” Buhari humoristic attempt is neither poetry nor geometry — it is simply your Buhari in all his expletive Redundancy copying wrongly.

  Atiku-Buhari Has Cut Deal With Yari, Masari To Capture Zamfara, Katsina

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar , says he welcomes whatever reasonable measures the Federal Government takes to put an end to the needless loss of lives and property in Zamfara and Katsina states , but warns that imposing an emergency rule in the two states can only address the symptoms rather than the cause of the current security crisis facing the North- West states .

Reacting to the call by Governor Abdul - Aziz Yari for the imposition of a state of emergency in Zamfara State, Atiku said in a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Communication , Mr. Phrank Shaibu , that a fundamental solution must be sought to the crisis to ensure lasting peace .

The statement said the deal being struck between the Federal Government and the governors of Zamfara and Katsina states reflected the desperation of the All Progressives Congress - led Federal Government to ‘’ capture ’’ the states at all cost during next month ’ s general elections .

“ The deal, cut at a meeting in the Presidential Villa in Abuja, is simple : The Federal Government will impose a state of emergency in Zamfara , to provide a window for the APC to field a candidate for the governorship election in the state having failed to do so within the time frame stipulated by the ( Independent National Electoral ) Commission , ’’ Shaibu said in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday , adding that “ everything that is required for this manipulation has been provided by the leadership of the party . ”

Atiku said the implication of the plot was that even President Buhari , ‘ for all his sweet words on ensuring free and fair elections and avoiding unethical measures to win at all cost , ’ was ready to do anything just to ‘’ capture ’’ Zamfara and Katsina states for his party .

The PDP presidential candidate , however , said although the plot was meant to put his party at a disadvantage , the ‘ PDP would not lose any sleep over the ignoble deal, since the battle to rescue Nigeria from incompetence and bad leadership would be fought by the people themselves and not by the Governor of Zamfara or President Buhari ’ s hatchet men. ’

  Man Kills 73-Year-Old Mother In Enugu

A 73-year-old woman, Mrs Cecilia Attah, has been reportedly killed by her son at Nru, in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Mrs Attah was killed, Wednesday, by her son who used a plank to hit her on the head, following a slight argument.

It was gathered that shortly after killing his mother, the suspect ran to the nearby Nsukka Police Station to report that his brother wanted to kill him.

Apart from the suspect, the deceased is said to be the mother of a priest, Rev Fr. Nobert, who is now on sabbatical at the United States of America, USA, with Athanasius Igwenagum Attah, 54, as the eldest.

Athanasius, a panel beater at the Mechanic Village, Nsukka, was seen at Nsukka Police Station, yesterday, making a statement over the issue.

A Nigerian kidnapper, Samuel Udoetuk-Wills who escaped from the custody of the Takoradi Metropolitan Police Command in Ghana on 30th December, has been recaptured by the police.

Samuel Udoetuk Wills a Nigerian was remanded into Ghanaian Police custody for the offense of kidnapping.

According to reports, Udoetuk-Wills was recaptured in the wee hours of Friday by three policemen in an abandoned building in the bush at Kanssawurodu, near Takoradi.

It was gathered that the suspect was found sleeping deeply in the disused building, however upon his arrest he head-butted one of the policemen in an attempt to escape. He was overpowered and is currently in custody.

He had been arrested on December 22 in connection with the alleged kidnapping and disappearance of a number of girls, for which a circuit court had placed him in police custody to reappear on January 9, however, he mysteriously escaped from cell with the suspected help of his guardians.

He has since been transferred to the Police Headquarters in Accra.

  Yoruba Prefer Restructuring, Not 2023 Presidency – Afenifere

The pan Yoruba organisation, Afenifere, has said that the South West would prefer to vote for a presidential candidate who would push for the restructuring of the country, over the prospect of a 2023 presidency.

Speaking to Daily Sun yesterday Afenifere spokesman, Yinka Odumakin, said the All Progressives Congress (APC) is deceiving the South West by promising them the 2023 presidency, a promise the party also made to the South East.

Odumakin said Yoruba will vote for restructuring over the prospect of a 2023 presidency because it is the only condition in which the zone can rapidly develop.

He accused those promising the South West the 2023 presidency of selfishness, and added that the fact President Muhammadu Buhari comes from Katsina has not saved the state from insecurity; as such, Yoruba have nothing much to gain from having the presidency.

Odumakin said: “I assure you that even the most illiterate of South West voters understand what restructuring is because they lived their lives when the Western Region had autonomy.

“They remember that we had the first television station; under federalism. They know that if Pa Awolowo had to go to Abuja to get a licence for a television station, the South West would probably not have had the first station. They know what it means to have free education, but, Yourba people are now beggars under this arrangement.

“Yoruba voters prefer restructuring, which would speed up development instead of a 2023 South West presidency which is actually a power grab for a few people.

“The 2023 promise of a South West presidency is just about the presidential ambitions of Tinubu, (Vice President Yemi) Osinbajo and (Babatunde) Fashola. President Buhari is from Katsina, yet, the governor of his state, Bello Masari, recently said Katisna has become inhabitable because it has been overrun by armed bandits.

“Why has Katisna as a whole not benefitted from the fact that their son is the president? This present presidential structure cannot benefit anybody except those who are stealing money, buying banks, telecom companies, airlines and those who, five years ago could not afford N2, 000 for transport fare but are now billionaires.”

Earlier, Lagos State Director General of the Buhari/Osinbajo Presidential Campaign, Moshood Salvador, accused former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar and Afenifere of deceiving the South West with the promise of restructuring. Speaking at his Lagos residence, yesterday, Salvador alleged the PDP presidential candidate is insincere and is using the promise of restructuring the country as a ploy to get South West votes.

He also criticised Afenifere, for endorsing Atiku’s candidacy.

“It is not in the power of Atiku to implement restructuring; he can only lie to use it to get votes from the South West.

“After promising that he will restructure if he wins, after six months, he will tell the country that it would not be possible to call for a referendum because the National Assembly is not ready to set itself aside. Atiku knows that restructuring is not possible but he is just saying it to get votes. Those are the kind of lies that politicians are known for.

“When these old men from the South West, who are pushing for restructuring were much younger, what did they do? The one that joined politics at the age of 27 is now over 90. They didn’t achieve restructuring when they were younger, is it now that they are above 90 that they think they can achieve it? We agree that restructuring is a southern agenda, but, former President Olusegun Obasanjo was there for eight years and he did not do restructuring because he knows the truth, which is that it is not possible.

“Goodluck Jonathan was there for five years and he did not do restructuring. All he was concerned about was oil derivation; which was more important to the South South where he came from.

“How come it is now the South West that is championing the issue of restructuring which we all know that is difficult to achieve?
“Even if we want a referendum, the National Assembly has to be set aside, but, are they ready to be set aside?

“No. Even if the National Assembly is ready to be set aside and we are asked to use our voter’s card to vote for or against an issue on ground, we would still not win because restructuring is a southern agenda. The zone would lose as the three northern zones have more registered voters than the three southern zones. Once you know that this would be very difficult to achieve, you don’t push your people out to agitate.

“What you need to do is to strategise and carry other northern states along so that they would know the advantages of restructuring.”

In October 2018, Afenifere, Ohanaeze N’digbo and the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) indicated their resolve to mobilise support for the presidential candidate of any political party that is ready to restructure Nigeria.

On its part, Ohanaeze N’digbo, the apex socio-political body of the Igbo, also said it would vote for any presidential candidate who showed a “sincere” intention to restructure Nigeria on assuming office, a sentiment PANDEF National Secretary, Dr. Alfred Mulade, said they shared

  FG To Spend N3 Billion On Fuel, Generators

The federal government will spend over N3 billion on fuel, generators and plants across 602 ministries, departments and agencies this year.

These figures do not include money voted by the agencies for payment of electricity charges during the year.

Analysis of 2019 budget proposals has shown that only four federal agencies have zero allocation for plants and generators.

This huge figures for generators and fuel is coming at time the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola is saying that power supply had improved and that there was more power coming to the grid this year.

Fashola on assumption of office in November 2015 unveiled his “incremental, steady and uninterrupted power” agenda and last Saturday night said government had walked the talk and “fulfilled its promise.”

Statistics from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) indicates that peak electricity generation on Wednesday was 3,806 megawatts (MW), falling from the 4,687MW attained on January 1, 2019.

While the generation company capacity was at 11,000MW, what GenCos can actually deliver remains at 7,139MW; the capacity for the transmission of generated electricity was 7,500MW, but the network operational capacity for distributing the electricity is 6,500MW.

Despite this shortcoming, the national peak demand forecast is pegged at 23,000MW which is deemed to create the steady, uninterrupted power supply that Fashola seeks to happen.

But speaking on the fulfilled promise of boosting electricity, the minister who spoke on NTA last weekend said, “When one takes stock, the point to make is that we have walked our talk. We have fulfilled our promise. It is important to benchmark power not just as power electricity itself.

“It is an economic enabler and that is why it is no accident that this government is committed to ensuring that first there is incremental power, then steady power and inevitably uninterrupted power because we are committed to enabling business to be competitive, efficient, to sustain growth and to produce jobs,” Fashola said.


Health ministry leads 7-big spenders,budgets N725m

Leading the big spenders on fuelling and maintenance of generators and plants is the Federal Ministry of Health headquarters and its 58 other agencies with N725.814 million budget.

Next on the line is the Ministry of Interior and its eight agencies with N579.6 million budget; Education ministry and its 169 agencies captured in the document will spend N336.7 million this year to provide its own electricity.

The Ministry of Defence and its 14 other agencies budgeted N260 million to power their buildings. Another 23 Agencies and Departments under the Presidency followed the trail by budgeting N143.3 million for generators and their fuelling.

The Ministry of Power, Works and Housing and its nine agencies is the sixth big spender with N102.3 million budget for the alternative power supply devices while the seventh spender is the Ministry of Finance and its 47 agencies, budgeting N101.581 million for similar purpose.


Foreign affairs budget N89m for embassies

At the medium level, the Foreign Affairs Ministry is topping 10 other Ministries with N89.7 million generator expenses bill. The ministry budget also budgeted for its 47 embassies and agencies while two other had Warsaw and Canberra embassies have zero budget for generators.

Close to it is the Budget and National Planning Ministry along with its six agencies; they will expend N86.891 million to fuel their generators.

The State House and eight agencies under it was next with N85.8 million ‘generator’ budget.

About N82.4 million will be spent by the Ministry of Environment for the headquarters and its 17 agencies to maintain and fuel generators as separate budget from electricity charges.

Information and Culture Ministry will spend N57.9 million for its headquarters and 18 agencies; Head of Services has N55.1 million for it and its 13 agencies; fuelling and servicing generators will take N47.5 million for 32 agencies and the headquarters of the Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry.

Equally, Justice ministry has pegged N41.5 million to run their power generators across its 10 agencies. Science Technology Ministry has N39.1 million budget for its 57 agencies and the headquarter, while Mines and Steel will spend N28.2 million across its 11 agencies.

Trade and Investment captured N25.3 million for its nine agencies and parastatals; Youth and Sports has N23.6 million for just five agencies and its ministry.

Similarly, the Ministry of Transportation has N22.7 million for just five agencies and its headquarters.

More so, the Ministry of Petroleum Resources has N22.3 million for just three agencies and its headquarters. Water Resources has N21.5 million for the ministry and nine agencies.

Communication ministry is lowest with N1.7m

On the lowest rung is the Ministry of Communication and Technology with N1.7 million ‘generator’ budget only for the ministry. It has zero allocation to the Nigeria Communication Satellite, its sole agency.

The Niger Delta Ministry has N3.3 million for only the ministry’s headquarters; National Population Commission (NPC) has N8.8 million for just its headquarters while the Ministry of Labour and Employment pegged N13 million for the headquarters and two agencies.

A young man is currently cooling off in police custody after he was nabbed while having sex with a goat. According to reports, the 21-year-old man identified as Kennedy Kambani, has since been charged with bestiality after his arrest.

The shocking incident is said to have happened recently in the Central Region District of Mchinji, Malawi.
It was gathered that the owner initially thought the suspect was attempting to steal the goats during grazing and he mobilized the villagers to apprehend him only to meet a shocking sight.

When people arrived at the scene, they were shocked to see him having sexual intercourse with the goat.
The suspect was apprehended and brought to police where he was charged with the offence of bestiality.
Kennedy told the police that he had sought the animal’s consent to have sexual intercourse with him.

The convict, who was a Branch Manager of the defunct Oceanic Bank, was arraigned alongside his company, Ocean Energy Trading and Services Limited, sometime in 2014 on a 19-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N50, 049,000.00, an offence contrary to Section 1(1) and (3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other
Related Offences Act No. 14 of 2006.



Egube’s journey to prison began after the Commission received a petition dated February 6, 2013 written by A.A. Malami, SAN & Co. on behalf of Sanusi Kamba, owner of Aminu Gandi Petroleum Limited.



The petitioner alleged that between 2007 and 2008, the defendant used his position as a Branch Manager to facilitate the granting of a credit facility to the petitioner, which was disbursed in tranches.



The defendant was also said to have given the petitioner instruction to make payments into the accounts of some individuals and companies for the purchase of petroleum products to the tune of N50, 049,000.00.

However, the petroleum products were never supplied to the petitioner by the individuals and companies, thereby making it impossible for the petitioner to repay the loan when it became due.



He pleaded not guilty to the charge, thereby setting the stage for his trial.
In the course of the trial, the prosecution presented six witnesses
and tendered several documents that were admitted in evidence by the
court against the defendant. The defendant, however, testified in his trial.

Delivering her judgment, Justice Ipaye convicted and sentenced Egube to seven years imprisonment on counts 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9,10,11,12, 13 and 17.
The sentences are to run concurrently from the day of conviction.

Justice Ipaye also gave a restitution order against the convict and his company "for the repayment forthwith of the total amount obtained by false pretence.”

Obi, who spoke to his kinsmen in Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State during a lecture organised in his honour by Agulu Peoples Assembly, said Nigeria was a place where people crave free money to live in luxury.

Obi said he had trained his children to be self-reliant, adding that he had chosen not to join people who crave primitive acquisition.

He said,

“I have two graduates who are working, a boy and a girl, and the two of them don’t own any car because they haven’t made enough money to buy a car.

“They were here for the Christmas, and I was talking to some people about them and the person said he saw my son and that he always jumps on buses and tricycles.

“Some people don’t like it that way. They believe I am rich and that my children should not be trekking, and that they should be provided cars.

“But I believe they do not have the money; so, they have to trek.



“Who will give them cars — is it me? My money is my own; so, they should work for theirs.”


He said he was not contesting the VP position to make money, but to build a better Nigeria.

He described Nigeria as “a collapsing country” that needed to be salvaged by voting for the right crop of leaders who have been tested and proved.

“I have been five years out of government, and no one has come to say any one naira was missing in government under my watch. EFCC can come and probe me if they like, I am not afraid.

“I am not here to campaign to my people because I come from here and you know what I did in Anambra.

“Just give me the opportunity and we will change Nigeria, and the country will start working again.”

The police in Anambra state have arrested Ebube Osinachi Okoye, pictured above, for stealing the properties of his cousin who came to Nigeria to spend the yuletide.

 

According to reports, Ebube who is described as the most trustworthy cousin of the victim, stormed the home where the cousin stayed and stole everything the cousin came to Nigeria with. Immediately after the theft, he went into hiding, waiting for the cousin to fly back to his base abroad. 

Luck however ran out on him as he was apprehended in Ekwulobia where he was with his girlfriend.
