700 Soldiers Missing, 2,000 Trapped As Boko Haram Takes Over Baga - SR
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 12-28-2018, 10:37 PM - No Replies

An estimated 700 soldiers are missing with more than 2,000 trapped following a Boko Haram attack on Thursday that culminated in the loss of Baga, a town in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State, by the Nigerian Army.

A faction of the insurgents loyal to Abu Musab al-Barnawi attacked Baga, lying northeast of Kukawa, and succeeded in dislodging the soldiers and hoisting their flags.

According to an aid worker who spoke with SaharaReporters, “a large number of soldiers are still missing and many others are trapped.”

“Boko haram has taken over Baga town,” said the source. “More than 2,000 troops are there trapped, and 700 are missing. [Air Force] jets cannot do anything now because the soldiers are trapped in their midst”.

SaharaReporters could not independently verify the figures being mentioned, but a security source said it was "highly possible", considering Baga is the headquarters of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) — a formation comprising units, mostly military, from Benin, Cameroon, Chad, Niger, and Nigeria, and boasting between 7,500 and 10,000 personnel.

A security source confirmed the attack and the disappearance of “a high number of soldiers”.

“So many soldiers, likely in their hundreds, are missing,” he said. “Even the Baga Brigade Commander is back in Maiduguri, which means he must have escaped when he saw that his team was overwhelmed.”

The source also confirmed that the insurgents set the MNJTF headquarters ablaze, and made away with military equipment.

The Army, though, continues to deny that the town has been overrun by insurgents.

In a statement released on Friday, Sani Usman, Director of Army Public Relations, said the sidurgents were the ones fleeing.

“Please recall that yesterday, Wednesday 26th December 2018 suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked the headquarters of 7 Brigade Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Baga, Borno State, at about 7.00pm,” he said in a statement.

“The troops along with their Nigerian Navy counterparts put up a very determined fight to repel the attack throughout the night, while Sector 3 Operation LAFIYA DOLE sent in reinforcement who are in hot pursuit of the terrorists. Similarly, a Search and Rescue team has been constituted.

“The Nigerian Air Force component has also been mobilised and are engaging the fleeing terrorists. Unfortunately, a naval personnel was killed in action. So far, no further details of casualties yet as efforts are ongoing to clear the terrorists hiding in Baga and environs.”

2019: Army To Begin ‘python Dance’ Nationwide In January
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 12-28-2018, 07:15 PM - No Replies

The Nigerian Army has said it will conduct exercise “Egwu Eke III’’ – Python dance nationwide, to tackle already observed upsurge in security challenges as the 2019 general elections draw nearer.

NAN reports that according to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, who announced this at a news conference on Friday in Maiduguri, the exercise will be conducted from Jan. 1 to Feb. 28, 2019.
Represented by Maj.-Gen. Lamidi Adeosun, the Chief of Training and Operations, Buratai identified those threats as stockpiling of arms by criminal groups, formation of ethnic militia and violence induced by political activities.

The army had in 2016 and 2017 conducted exercise Egwu Eke I and II to address peculiar security challenges in the South-East geo-political zone, particularly during Yuletide.

“These challenges coupled with other security threats across the country such as terrorism, militancy, kidnapping and banditry portend that dissident group and criminal elements could cash in on the situation to perpetrate large scale violence before, during and after the 2019 general elections,’’ he said.

According to the army chief, the Nigerian army troops need to be prepared and equipped with requisite skills in order to professionally and effectively respond to these challenges and security threats in collaboration with the Nigerian Police and other para-military oganisations.

Responding to question why Egwu Eke III is being conducted nationwide and not restricted to the South-East in line with its code name, Buratai said there is python everywhere.

“Even in the desert of Borno, don’t forget, the Lake Chad basin is there, python can also dance within the desert.
“In fact, we have desert python, so python will dance all over the country this time around,’’ he said.

The army chief explained that the success of the exercise Egwu Eke I and II in checkmating security threats in the South- East informed its simultaneous implementation across the country now.
Buratai called on Nigerians to provide the army and other security agencies with useful and timely information to enable them to deliver on the mandate of exercise Egwu Eke III.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the army to fight against terrorism and insurgency in the country.

President Buhari Is Incompetent, Rewards Failure- Oby Ezekwesili
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 12-28-2018, 06:57 PM - No Replies

BY IKE UCHECHUKWU(CALABAR)
Former Minister of Education and presidential candidate of Allied Congress Party of Nigeria,ACPN, Dr Oby Ezekwesili, has described President Muhammadu Buhari as incompetent and that he rewards incompetency by keeping his incompetent appointees in office.
She made the remarks in Calabar on Friday while speaking with journalists on why she is running for the office of president.

Her words: “We have seen serial failures in this administration. The president rewards incompetency. And I am not surprised because the president himself is incompetent but does not realise it.
“What he does is to extend their stay in an office in which they have failed. We have seen it with the military. We have seen it with the police.
“He has retained the Inspector General of police after the expiration of his tenure. It is it for stellar performance? This is an IG of police the president told the whole country he did not go to where he was assigned to go in Benue State.
“What the president is essentially telling us is that the Nigerian life does not matter that much to him, otherwise he should be very aghast at the level of killings that happen.”
According to her :“My greatest shock and one of my triggers for deciding to run for election not being a politician, as you all know, is that the debasement of the Nigerian life is the final straw that can turn us into a society of anarchy.
“For it to be that children will grow up in this society and just come to the understanding that killing a person is a normal thing; you know, you can just do it, there is no consequence. My goodness! What kind of impunity is that? That is a dangerous level of impunity.
“For me, I want to be the president of this country and be an effective commander-in-chief of our armed forces on the basis of competence, capacity and character.
” I would so do that work well that that the life of a Nigerian would be the epicentre of our development process. It has implications. It means that in terms of security, we would run the most efficient security system.
“We would reform the security infrastructure of the country. We would find those brilliant ones in our military establishment that have been hidden away in an era of incompetency and low productivity.
“We would also reform the systems within the military because when we look at the military anywhere, they are the basis of what is called management by objective.
“And that idea is that when resources are made available, resources should lead to performance. And they should lead to accountability, they should lead to reward and when you are not getting it, you should fix it. And the president is not known to fix things that have gone wrong.”
On the economy ,Ezekwesili said the president himself had rated his performance on the economy low and wondered why it took him four years to realise that his economic policies were bad, saying the ability to get the economy right was what the president lacked the capacity to do.
She bemoaned the high level of poverty in the country and said as president she would focus on the right kind of policies, institutions that would promote investments and find innovative solutions to infrastructure deficit.

Buhari’s Corruption Line-up For Next Level Campaign
User Avatar Forum: News

Quote:[Image: 8396383_fbimg1546002982521_jpeg04c8410d6...e95c7.jpeg]

A few hours after Boko Haram attacked the Nigerian military in the Northeast, President Buhari without much empathy launched his campaign by releasing the names of the members of his campaign council. Like everything with him, it took a long time to come out, and now that it has, the list is filled with some of the biggest names in corruption. Here are a few:

Tinubu: he is the Campaign Advisory Board Chairman. He owns Alpha-Beta which till today, fleeces billions off the Lagos state government . He does all the contracts in Lagos state and has his guy as the Boss of FIRS, to corner Nigeria’s revenue generation.

Aliko Dangote: Business man diversifying to Oil. He hates competition. He knows Buhari will not sell the moribund and inefficient NNPC. As such, he will be the only refiner in Nigeria. His refinery at Ibeju Lekki can only make monstrous profits if the NNPC remains inefficient. Is this his reason for joining the campaign train? Is he being held captive and threatened with enemy action against his business interests if he fails to join campaign council?

Otedola: great friends with Aliko. Involved in a bribery scandal with Senator Lawan. Sold shares in Forte so he can invest in Dangote’s refinery. They don’t want competition and Buhari will ensure that. He is held captive by threats to unleash the FIRS and EFFC on him if he fails to join the campaign trail.

Akpabio- Campaign coordinator for South-South. Stole N142 billion from Akwa Ibom state. Blackmailed by EFCC to deliver the South-South to APC in 2019, or else risk jail time. Known for his greed in Akwa Ibom.

Ayiri Emami: He is the top oil bunkerer in Warri. In fact, everyone knows that he controls the drug cartel in Warri too. He is the chief sponsor of APC in Delta state. What a line-up against corruption. He is a Director in Buhari’s campaign Council.

Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi: Looted Rivers state dry. Chief sponsor of Buhari 2015 election. Indicted by a judicial panel and only recently gave a $195m contract to an unregistered Israeli firm, while paying $50m upfront to his peers. Strikingly corrupt, but the Campaign Chairman of the APC.

General Abdulrahman Dambazzau: Fired by GEJ for Arms purchase fraud, current Minister of Interior under APC. Police, Civil Defense, Immigration and Customs Boss. Now heading APC campaign security. In his current executive position, it unethical for him to be partisan as he would wield paramilitary might to unduly secure power for his party.

Hadiza Bala Usman: Nigeria lost $19bn to inefficiency at the ports according to a US Newspaper; Bloomberg. Her agency; NPA, has not remitted NGN 2.8 billion 2018 proceeds to TSA. Is she going to be one of the major sponsors of the APC? Yes, she's already involved in the $2 million bribery scandal wot Oshiomole during the APC primaries. This was why she was added in the campaign team as a Director Mobilization. It is what she does best.

Adamu Adamu: Minister of Education and campaign Secretary. ASUU is on strike and all he wants to do is to be flying around campaigning for a second tenure. They don’t care about about the youth..That is just a campaign speaking point.

George Akume: A regular EFCC customer in 2007. Presently a saint because he is now in APC. On 11th June 2007, he was interrogated by EFCC. His case is still in court, but you know what, he is being blackmailed for it. Campaign for Buhari or go to jail. Paid Benue lawmakers N4m each to impeach Benue State governor Samuel Ortom.

Ali Ndume: A court in Nigeria 6 years ago confirmed evidence, tying him to Boko Haram. Perhaps he could give us some apologies for thousands of soldiers lost to Boko Haram, like Lt. Col Abu Ali. An SSS forensic expert; Aliyu Usman confirmed this. Today, he's tasked with delivering a Buhari re-election campaign.

Wammako: has more than 8 count charges by the EFCC to his name. Remains a saint because he is a sponsor of APC and in the campaign team.

In 2019, Mr. Integrity has none to offer.

Uyo Rally: APC Diverted N478m NDDC Fund To Rent Crowd For Buhari – PDP
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 12-28-2018, 06:30 PM - No Replies

December 28, 2018

Press Statement

Uyo Rally: APC Diverted N478m NDDC Fund To Rent Crowd for Buhari – PDP.
…Says heads of ministries, parastatals in Buhari’s Campaign Council Are Conduit Pipes

The PDP Presidential Campaign Organization (PPCO) accuses the Buhari Presidency and the All Progressives Congress (APC) of secretly drawing over N478 million from the coffers of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to rent a crowd and offset bills in President Muhammadu Buhari’s expensive re-election campaign rally going on in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State

The PPCO also accused President Buhari of directly appointing serving ministers and heads of government agencies as members of his campaign council so as to continue to use them as conduit pipes for the diversion of public funds to finance his 2019 campaign.

Our party is also aware of the protests by some eminent Nigerians, including foremost businessmen, who were named as members of the APC Campaign Council without their consent, in a desperate bid to showcase an impression that they are supporting Mr. President’s re-election bid.

The N478 million NDDC fund which was originally budgeted for development projects in the Niger Delta was diverted to renting and transportation of crowd from other parts of the country to the rally to create an impression of popularity for President Buhari in the region.

Further information at our party’s disposal, shows that the said N478 million is part of the wholesome sum of N1.2 billion allegedly siphoned in tranches from the NDDC treasury by the cabal at the Buhari Presidency and APC leaders, who have been stealing money from various government agencies to finance President Buhari’s campaign.

Our party also has it on good authority that this ignoble scheme of siphoning NDDC development fund to finance his campaign was the main reason President Buhari foisted an unpopular leadership at the management of the NDDC despite the protests by critical stakeholders in all the states of the Niger Delta.

Furthermore, the PPCO is aware of the dissention by some APC leaders over President Buhari’s unilateral listing of individuals into his campaign council as announced by his media aide, without recourse to the selection process of the APC leadership.

This further shows the dictatorial tendencies of the Buhari Presidency and his arrogant disdain for constituted authority.

Moreover, the PPCO invites Nigerians to note that unlike the PDP Presidential campaign council, which has credible Nigerians as members, most of Buhari’s zonal coordinators are persons facing corruption cases.

This casts a very long shadow on President Buhari’s integrity and further confirms that his fight against corruption is a sham.

Finally, the PPCO reminds President Buhari that Nigerians are still awaiting his explanation on the seething revelation of corrupt acquisition of Etisalat Nigeria and Keystone Bank PLC by his family members under the cover of his presidency; an issue that Nigerians are not willing to let go until he clears his name.

Signed:

Kola Ologbondiyan
Director, Media & Publicity

Woman told as a teen that she'll never grow boobs strips down for topless photoshoot

A 28-year-old mother who was told as a teen that she would never grow breasts due to severe chest burns has bared all for the first time.

Sacha Pugsley was nine years old when she was badly burnt after a petrol container exploded outside her home. She spent three months in a coma and two years in hospital and has had over 60 surgeries to rebuild her burnt body.

The burns left Sacha with damaged breast tissue and doctors told her she wouldn't grow boobs like girls her age.

The burn survivor is now baring all in a topless photoshoot to showcase her burns.

Sacha, who volunteers at her local homeless centre, said:

Quote:At the age of 16 I was told I wouldn’t grow any boobs like all the other girls around me because I was burnt so badly on my chest. ‘
t was difficult growing up as I felt so isolated and self conscious of the burns I’d suffered as a child.
There was a field near where I lived and I was going out to play – I was literally in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Some kids were messing around with lighter fluid and a petrol canister exploded on me.
I had to have my armpits rebuilt as the heat caused my skin melt so my arms and sides bonded together.
My hands burnt to the bone as well – I woke up during one my surgeries and saw it all, it was horrible.
[size=undefined]

After being told she would never grow breasts naturally, Sacha had three stints of liposuction to remove the fat from her back into her chest to give the appearance of boobs. But at 20 years old she decided she no longer wanted any further surgery and over the years has grown to love her scars.

Sacha, a mother-of-one, said:
[/size]

Quote:At around the age of 23 I finally started to feel more confident – I’ve always tried to help other people with my story and my scars, but never properly shown them until now.
My scars of evidence of my struggle and I wear them with pride, rather than being ashamed. I’d been through so much trauma that I decided to put an end to surgery.
When I had my little boy, Lucien-Cruz, who’s five now, my perceptions of life totally changed.
Having a baby changed my life for the better and I moved to a nicer area to give my child a different perspective on life.
He’s such a happy little character and has a heart of gold – I really want to make a good example to him.
I shared my photos on my Instagram page and the response has been amazing – I’ve had some many nice, supportive comments.

“The deceased was in the car and the vehicle conveying the gunmen hit his car from the back at that spot. He then alighted from the car to complain over the reckless driving not knowing they were armed robbers and the daredevil bandits opened fire on him and he died immediately”.
The spokesman of the state police command, Caleb Ikechukwu, who confirmed the incident, said:
“we have got a report about the killing and our men have swung into action. We are yet to know the identities of the deceased, but investigation has begun into the killing “.

Buhari should have been executed for overthrowing Shagari – Atiku’s spokesman, Ibe Paul replies Festus Keyamo

Media Adviser to PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has fired back at Barrister Festus Keyamo, spokesman of the Buhari Campaign Organisation, for saying Atiku should have been in jail over corruption charges.

Recall that on Wednesday December 26th, Keyamo in a lengthy statement, said ''if the system of government in Nigeria was working well, Atiku should have been in prison before Buhari came into power in 2015''.

Responding to Keyamo’s statement, Ibe in a tweet posted on his twitter handle, said if Nigeria had an effective system, President Buhari should have been killed long ago for overthrowing the democratically elected government of President Shehu Shagari in 1983.

Quote:”Festus Keyamo should be careful what he brings on himself and APC campaign. If Nigeria had a working system, Muhammadu Buhari should have been executed for overthrowing a democratically elected government in 1983.” his tweet read

NAFDAC, A Shadow Of Itself Under Buhari
User Avatar Forum: News

Quote:

Dr. Dora Akunyili of the blessed memory would be rolling in anguish in her grave now. On 26th of December, 2003, she was almost killed by gunmen believed to be members of the fake drug cartels she busted. Dora was DG of NAFDAC then. Her appointments saw Nigerians heaving a sigh of relief that the problem of fake drugs will finally be solved. Was it? Yes, to a reasonable extent while she was in NAFDAC. These successes have a cost. The cost is that every now and then, a bullet would fly across her face in her car. Her family was in fear. She did not give up.

NAFDAC is supposed to be the last hope of the consuming man. Everything we consume in Nigeria, should be done in confidence, knowing that NAFDAC is working. Is that still the case now? Recently, the DG of NAFDAC, who personally is not doing badly, has lamented about the sorry state of the agency. “80 per cent of our equipment is no longer working and that is a major challenge to deliver on our mandate. The last time, the World Health Organization visited our laboratory in Yaba, they scored us zero,” the DG lamented.

Coming from the DG, one will understand that this is an agency gasping for the last ounce of oxygen, to survive. She is not looking for your pity or ours. She is simply stating that the FG is starving a quintessential body like NAFDAC of funds to keep combating fake drugs.

The FG understands that the nation’s borders are porous and largely unmanned. The FG understands that the nation’s customs services are highly understaffed. The FG however, while knowing all these, is devoted to killing off the one agency coming in between Nigerians and fake drugs. Recall that the biggest challenge of the nation regarding drugs, comes from addictions to codeine. This menace is too bad that even musicians sing confidently about it. Every shop in Nigeria is stocked with codeine and you wonder why the agency spends so much on making the media believe they are fighting this scourge.

Sometimes in November, a video circulated where people were using Sniper to preserve beans. Up till today, nothing has been done about it. Sniper is very detrimental to human health. Even if it does not kill now, an accumulation can lead to various forms of cancer. Is this what we are all joking with? Why has the defender of the sick in NAFDAC gone to? Perhaps it went with The OBJ/Atiku/GEJ administrations. If we are being honest, when was the last time NAFDAC confiscated and burnt a large chunk of fake products? All of these monumental feats of NAFDAC went with 2015. Now we are left with a shadow of what we had; a scarecrow named NAFDAC.

For the family of the Late Emmanuel Okwuke, Banana and plantain have become a symbol of death. No one that knows them would ever dare consume those fruits. Those fruits have become the messenger of death in their family. How would they have known that the fruit their late father consumed was ripened with carbide if the responsible agency did not tell them or do anything to stop it? Fake products, sniper-preserved products and carbide-ripened fruits have joined other scourges like killer herdsmen, Boko Haram and protest-hating soldiers, in dealing with the common man. One thing they all have in common, is Buhari. He is supposed to build from where previous administration left. Why then is everything falling apart? Why has the NAFDAC DG turned to a wailer overnight?

All we have heard is the DG complaining about the World Health Organization rating them zero in the latest accreditations held. This is not the NAFDAC we once trusted for better and efficient drugs. There has been a change in NAFDAC, and that change is not just peculiar to NAFDAC. Recall that the National Bureau of Statistics complained about lack of funds to publish the state of the economy. Why does the Buhari-led FG take special joy in strangulating agencies that cater to poor Nigerians the most?

Dora will be angry wherever she is, knowing that she could have died from those assassination attempts, for an agency that would later be treated like trash, become trash and rated like trash by the World Health Organization.

Minimum wage: Economy too fragile to withstand Labour strike in January, NECA warns
Friday, December 28, 2018  NEW

The Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association, NECA, yesterday, pleaded with the Federal Government to immediately send a draft bill on the N30,000 new national minimum wage to the National Assembly, NASS, for passage into law to save the nation from the consequences of the strike planned by Organised Labour in January 2019.
The umbrella body for private employers in the country, while decrying the indecisive disposition of the Federal Government towards concluding the process leading to the implementation of a new National Minimum Wage, insisted that “this delay in the completion of the process has led to the proposed strike by Labour, which is totally undesirable and should be avoided.” In a statement its Director General, Mr. Timothy Olawale, NECA said: “Globally, there is a recognized and acceptable process of setting a National Minimum Wage as enshrined in the International Labour Organisation, ILO, Convention 131. This process had been adopted in previous National Minimum Wage setting in Nigeria and was meticulously applied by the National Minimum Wage Committee inaugurated by the President in December, 2017. It was expected that following the submission of the National Minimum Wage Committee’s Report to the President on Tuesday, 6th November, 2018, expedited action would be taken in transmitting a bill to the National Assembly as promised by President Muhammadu Buhari.

“The President had promised to transmit an Executive bill to the National Assembly for its passage within the shortest possible time. It is, therefore worrisome that seven weeks after the submission of the Committee’s Report, Government is planning to subject the Report to another Technical Committee, unknown to the process of setting minimum wage. This delay in the completion of the process has led to the proposed strike by Labour, which is totally undesirable and should be avoided.” Concerned about the negative implication of the proposed strike in January 2019, he continued: “It is worrisome that as a nation whose economy is still reeling under the effects of recent recession, Government would needlessly further drag the economy into avoidable abyss. The colossal loss borne by businesses during the warning strike in September, 2018 was yet to be recovered and further disruption of business activities might sound the death knell for many enterprises.” He averred that with the rate of unemployment as recently released by the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, it was expected that all hands would be on deck to ensure the continuous survival of businesses.

To avert Labour strike and the attendant consequences, he urged that “the President should, without delay, transmit an Executive Bill to the National Assembly as promised to enable it finalise the process leading to the enactment of a new National Minimum Wage Act. Businesses and the economy at large cannot afford another avoidable strike.” He noted that the Private Sector, which is supposed to be the engine-room of national development, is usually the victim of such strikes. “Businesses are presently encumbered by several challenges and any avoidable Labour action at the beginning of the year or any time whatsoever would be counter-productive, disruptive and would not be welcomed.”

700 bags of cement responsible for collapse of 7-storey building in Rivers – Commissioner
Friday, December 28, 2018  NEW

                          [Image: Screen-Shot-2018-08-29-at-06.47.34-e1535521863765.png]
The Commissioner for Special Duties in Rivers State, Dr. John Bazia, has said that the seven-storey building which collapsed in Port Harcourt on November 23, 2018, was because of over 700 bags of cement stacked in the building.

Bazia disclosed this yesterday in Port Harcourt to a five-man commission of enquiry constituted by the state government to investigate the immediate and remote cause of the tragic collapse.

Bazia who appeared as a witness to the rescue operation during the incident, said it was discovered that about 700 bags of cement were kept on the second floor of the collapsed building. He stated that it was wrong for such load to be left on a building that is under construction, adding that the 700 bags of cement may be the cause of the incident.

He said: “I can assure you that all those that were alive were rescued. 31 persons were alive while 17 people died. It took us over two weeks to get to the basement of the building. “I was informed by one of the workers at the site that 700 bags of cement were kept on the second floor. This load may have caused it. It is not good to keep such load on a building that is still under construction.” Meanwhile, Commissioner for Urban Development and Physical Planning, Dr. Reason Onya, had explained that documents of the building were approved in 2014, stating that he only revalidated the documents. Onya, who has since stepped aside after the incident for the sake of integrity, stated that at the point of revalidation of the building documents, the original files domiciled in the state ministry could not be found, adding that he relied on the approval number found in the office.

Failed marriage: Man demands return of dowry from father-in-law
Friday, December 28, 2018  NEW

A 32-year-old suitor Ahmad Sani, on Thursday prayed a Sharia Court in Magajin Gari in Kaduna State, to help him recover the N340,000 he allegedly paid as dowry to his would-be in-law.

Sani told the court that the would be father-in-law, Alhassan Malam, should return his money because his daughter has refused to marry him.

The complainant said he had sought Sumayya Malam’s hand in marriage from her father, who gave his consent and demanded N20,000 as dowry, excluding other traditional expenses.

Sani said he was shocked when Malam cancelled the wedding due to “my alleged inability to provide a decent shelter for his daughter.”

“After paying the dowry and other traditional expenses which amounted to N340,000, I took her daughter to the house I rented, but I later learnt that she didn’t like the house,” he said.

Sani prayed the court to help him recover all the money he spent for the failed marriage since the defendant had refused him to marry his daughter.

Counsel to the defendant, Mr Alhassan Aliyu, argued that the court lacked jurisdiction to hear a case involving the recovery of money over N100,000 as stipulated by Section 22 of the Sharia law, Kaduna state.

Aliyu prayed the court to transfer the case to an upper Sharia court or dismiss the case.

The Judge, Malam- Dahiru Lawal, transferred the case to an Upper Sharia court for lack of jurisdiction

Alex Badeh Killing: Police Arrest Five Suspects
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 12-28-2018, 03:51 PM - Replies (4)

The Nigeria Police Force said it has arrested five suspects for their alleged involvement in the killing of a former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Vice Marshall Alex Badeh.

The Force, which refused to give the names of the suspects, said two out of the five suspects arrested actively participated in the killing.

It said the remaining three suspects played other roles that led to Badeh’s murder.

The Police however did not parade the suspects claiming that its decision was to prevent other members of the gang from escaping.

The Force Spokesman, Ag. DCP Jimoh Moshood made the disclosures at a briefing in Abuja.

Moshood also said the postponement of the parade would help the investigators to arrest fleeing members of the gang.

He said: “The suspects arrested actively participated in the killing of the former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh. On the directive of the IGP, the Police Joint Investigation Team set up by the IGP were mandated within the shortest possible time to arrest all those responsible for the killing of the Badeh on the 18th of December, 2018 in Nasarawa State.

“Two principal suspects who participated in the killing of the former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh and three other suspects connected to the crime carried out on the 18th of December, 2018 have been arrested by the Intelligence Response Team of the IGP and the Special Tactical Squad.

“The suspects are currently in Police custody and undergoing investigation. The public should also know that the investigation into the killing is being intensified to arrest other suspects who are still at large.

“It is of significant note and for the public to be aware that the parade of the two suspects and the three other gang members will not come up today so as not to jeopardize the ongoing investigation.

“While the suspects will be paraded before the media and the public upon the completion of investigation into this matter, the Nigeria Police Force will not relent and will leave no stone unturned in getting to the root of the killing and bringing all perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice.”

Etisalat And Keystone Bank Shares: BCO Raises Public Alert Over PDP Plans
User Avatar Forum: News

PRESS RELEASE BY PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI CAMPAIGN ORGANIZATION

ETISALAT AND KEYSTONE BANK SHARES: PUBLIC ALERT ON PLANS BY PDP AND ATIKU TEAM TO RELEASE A SERIES OF WILD, UNSUBSTANTIATED ALLEGATIONS AGAINST THE PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT.

Quote:With the latest refrain of the PDP linking some phantom shares in Etisalat and Keystone bank to the ‘family’ of the President, we have it on good authority that the Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party and his party are set to release a series of wild, unsubstantiated allegations against the President and Vice President including their friends and family members, in the next few weeks. With the latest revelation that the said shares are rather linked to relatives of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, it has become a case of the thief calling the farm owner the thief, as the Yorubas would say in a popular proverb. These impending wild allegations would naturally border on corrupt practices without any evidential basis. The purpose is to attempt to dent the greatest forte of the President and Vice President going into 2019 elections, which is their personal integrity. The latest tactics of the main opposition is premised on the following grounds:

a) Since their stuttering campaigns started, they have felt the pulse of Nigerians and realized Nigerians have not forgotten their misdeeds of 16 years whilst in office.

b) They have decided to run a campaign of “we-are-all-corrupt” rather than defend their sordid records of merciless looting of the public purse, which has brought us to where we are today.

c) The aim is to push Nigerians to equate an Alhaji Atiku Abubakar with President Muhammadu Buhari on matters of corruption. They want to deceive Nigerians to think that the 2019 elections is really a choice between two “corrupt” persons

d) By repeating the lies a million times, they aim to get Nigerians to begin to give some serious thought to the lies. This is how the “Jubrin from Sudan” story started, before even some well-exposed and educated Nigerians were nearly converted on that issue.

e) Their latest desperate diversionary tactics is because even the most uneducated Nigerian has now understood that all the issues upon which the main opposition is campaigning are self-indicting issues, especially on the Economy and Security. The foundation for the challenges in these sectors, are firmly rooted in their 16 years of disastrous governance. President Buhari has just started a re-building process.

Nigerians should therefore brace up for six weeks of despicable lies from the pit of hell against the President and Vice President, to try to suggest to Nigerians that the President and his deputy are part of the league of looters to which they belong. But Nigerians should understand that the choices before them have never been this clear: It is between a fugitive from the law in America and a President who has never been accused of stealing anything in his entire life and is respected both locally and internationally; It is between a man who claims he wants to ‘get Nigeria working again’ yet has always refused to pay his taxes AS AT WHEN DUE and a man who has NEVER cheated the Nigerian State. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has since kept an ominous silence over this damaging allegation of irresponsible and deliberate tax evasion that is now before a court of law.

Whilst the President and Vice President are prepared and willing to answer any genuine inquiry raised about their stewardship, Nigerians should always ask the critical questions as to “where”, “when”, “how”, names, dates, addresses, etc in respect of any allegation raised by the opposition before giving any credence to it. This is because as the Atiku Campaign continues to fall apart on a daily basis, we may hear such desperate allegation from them that President Buhari has sold the buildings in Aso Rock to the Israelis or Americans!!!

Nigerians should tell Alhaji Atiku Abubakar that it is too late in the day to impugn the integrity of Mr. President, or to “package” himself before Nigerians as a honest man. Nigerians only need to read the book by his former boss, ex President, Olusegun Obasanjo titled, “MY WATCH”.

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar must bear the cross and tar of corruption alone (as pronounced by the Congress in America and his former boss). He should not drag President Muhammadu Buhari into that room of moral debauchery with him.

A middle aged man, Amos Ogbo is now cooling off his heels in detention over the alleged killing of his 7months pregnant wife on Christmas day.

The incident occured around Eliozu, Obio-Akpor Local government area of Rivers State.

The woman, according to eyewitness accounts, died of internal bleeding after her husband, Ogbo pelted a stone on her ribs when she tried to escape from a fight.

The eyewitness said Ogbo, who was under the influence of alcohol on Christmas day, started with beating his wife before using the stone.

“Neighbours were trying to separate them but the man refused to stop. When the woman tried to run away, the man stoned his wife and the woman fell. Immediately, she started loosing breath. By the time they got to the hospital, she had died,” the eyewitness narrated.

Spokesman of the Rivers State Police Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni who said the stone used by the man has been kept as an exhibit, added that the
suspect has been transferred to the State CID.

DSP Omoni disclosed that, “The Commissioner of Police has ordered investigation into the matter. The homicide department are on it.

“The good thing is that the man has not denied the incident but he is claiming that he doesn’t know what came over him.”

DAILY POST reports that Amos Ogbo who rides tricycle, popularly called Keke around Eliozu in Port Harcourt, has 3 children with his late wife.

He told newsmen at the Police Command that, “I didn’t know that the stone will kill her. When the thing happened, I was trying to carry her but she was too heavy and nobody came to help me. I wanted to take her to the hospital when she fell but as I tried to stand, they will slap me and hit me with things.

“By the time we eventually got to the hospital she had died. I don’t know what happened to me. I didn’t know what to do. I was begging my wife not to leave me.”

Ten persons have been confirmed dead while five others were injured in two fresh attacks carried out by gunmen in Barki Ladi Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State.

This is coming as armed bandits reportedly killed six persons and also razed down over 50 houses in Sheria, Landu, Ankura and Oguma under Bassa LGA of Kogi State.

The attacks on Plateau villages came less than one week after the Special Task Force (STF) returned over 200 persons from one of the Internally Displaced Persons ( IDP) camps in Jos to their villages which they deserted earlier as a result of frequent attacks on their communities.

THISDAY gathered that five of the victims were killed last Wednesday night as they were celebrating the Christmas at Rawuru community, while five others died after the gunmen attacked them in a hotel located at Gwol the previous day.
Spokesman of the state Police Command, Mr. Mathias Terna, who claimed that only five died in the attacks, said he was attending a security meeting when contacted over the development.
But a community leader in the LGA, Mr. Francis Chong, confirmed the fresh attack to THISDAY last night.
“I can confirm to you that the attacks actually took place. What happened was that last Wednesday, seven people were moving about in Rawuru community after celebrating the Christmas party organised in the locality when they suddenly came under attack by the gunmen. Five of them died as a result of gunshot wounds while two others are still in the hospital
“Before the attack in Rawuru, five other villagers were shot and killed the previous day while they were also celebrating the season in a hotel in Gwol community. From the look of things, this is a clear case of resumption of terror attacks on the people, and we are calling on the security agents to rise up to the occasion and stop the fresh onslaught against our people,” he said.
In a related development, an armed militia has reportedly killed six persons and razed down over 50 houses in Sheria, Landu, Ankura and Oguma under Bassa Local Government Area (LGA) of Kogi State.
The Vice Chairman, Mozum Concern Youth Advocacy, Mallam Hamzat Mohammed, who confirmed the attack on Kogi community in a statement made available to journalists in Lokoja yesterday, said the attack was accompanied by sporadic shootings, which sent many scampering for safety on Christmas day.
Hamzat, who allegedly accused Bassa – Komo militia of carrying out the attack, noted that the widespread burning and destruction were effectively carried out in Oguma in-spite of government’s effort in bringing peace between the Egbura and Bassa Komo in the LGA.
He decried the action of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the area who according to him, gave unconvincing excuses when the remaining houses in Biroko were burnt and destroyed for four days.
“The Divisional Police Officer who could not carry out any arrest claimed that only a few houses were burnt whereas over 50 houses belonging to Egburas were burnt down by the Bassa-Komo militias.
“Before now, the same DPO gave unconvincing excuses when the remaining houses in Biroko were burnt and destroyed for good four successive days. We are therefore worried that, this act could be accomplished unrestricted and in full glare of the DPO who is the chief security officer of the area and Aguma of Bassa-Komo who doubles as the chairman of Bassa traditional council without any arrest,” he said.

The chairman while commending Governor Yahaya Bello for the efforts made so far particularly the setting up of the judiciary commission of enquiry on the crisis, called for a full implementation of the report, adding that, the government should urgently come to their rescue and resettle the affected people in the community.

In a swift reaction, the chairman Bassa Cultural Development Union (BCDU) Samuel Nyizona, while debunking the allegations, said several houses were burnt by suspected militia allegedly loyal to the Egbura’s in a village called Kebe in Kwomo district which led to the death of six people.
“As I speak to you, six people have been confirmed dead. This attack was carried out by the Egbura’s. We were surprised when some group in a military uniform stormed Bassa-Komo community to attack our people. They are not military men but dressed in military uniform. Many are still missing as I speak to you. The allegation that houses were burnt by Bassa-Komo could be a reprisal attack,” Nyizoma added.
According to him, two persons are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

Meanwhile, the special adviser to Governor Yahaya Bello on good governance and due process, Ademu Ibrahim, while confirming the attack in Egbura community, said the perpetrators of the act will be brought to book.

The special adviser added that, when he contacted the divisional police officer, he was told that few houses were razed by the suspected hoodlums who attacked the community.

Akwa Ibom State Government has rejected the plan by the state Police Command to set up anti-terrorism unit, saying such outfit is part of the ground work and ploy of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to illegally intimidate, harass and arrest government functionaries and the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
The state Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Udoh, alleged in a statement yesterday that in view of all indices that precede the creation of such sensitive anti-crime unit, creating an anti-terrorism unit in the state at this time is suspect.

The commissioner wondered what an anti-terrorism unit of the police would be used for in one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria.
He further alleged that as the 2019 general elections approach and political tempo assumes a crescendo pitch, a functional anti-terrorism unit in the state, will certainly arrest and detain whosoever it wills, on trumped up charges of acts of terrorism.
The state government also raised the alarm that a former Chief Security Officer to former Governor Godswill Akpabio, has been redeployed to the state, with tactical instructions on how to successfully execute the unholy agenda of the APC leadership in the state.

“While acknowledging that the Force retains the right to create units as it deems necessary, Akwa Ibom State government frowns at attempts by the Police hierarchy to portray Akwa Ibom State as a terrorist enclave in Nigeria, by its planned establishment of an Anti-Terrorism Unit. It is the consensus of Nigerians that such sensitive section as the Anti-Terrorism Unit be activated and logistically mobilised to effectively function in parts of Nigeria where insurgency is rife, especially in the North-Eastern region, where lives of innocent Nigerians are lost on a daily basis.

“The activities of members of the Anti-Terrorism Unit will undoubtedly cause unwarranted tension among the peace-loving citizens and residents of Akwa Ibom State. This is absolutely unnecessary at this point in time especially if you take into account, the comments of the General Officer Commanding 6 Division of the Nigerian Army; who during a visit to the state publicly described Akwa Ibom State as the most peaceful in the Niger Delta region. It is also on record that not too long ago, the Emir of Kano led a team of investors seeking investment opportunities to the state. “

The business interest of the revered Traditional Ruler in our state further underscores the importance of the peace, safety and security the current administration has engendered. Indeed, this has been a catalyst for the fast-paced development the state has witnessed since the inception of the Udom Emmanuel’s administration.”
The state Government urged the state Police Command to put on hold, the plans to set up an Anti-Terrorism Unit in the state, adding that the present administration will continue its collaboration with all security agencies in the state, including the Nigeria Police, to ensure the safety of lives and property at all times.

Obasanjo’s Strength Lies In Just Talking, Can't Give Atiku Votes –Tony Momoh
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 12-28-2018, 10:11 AM - No Replies

Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos

Prince Tony Momoh, a national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC ) and former Minister of Information in this interview with TEMIDAYO AKINSUYI speaks on recent developments in the country and his views on the 2019 presidential elections. Excerpts:

Were you surprised by the actions of some federal lawmakers who booed President Buhari recently during his budget presentation?

You can take a pig out of the bush but you cannot take the bush out of the pig. We are in a democracy and even in most advanced countries where democracy is practiced; they have certain behaviours, the behaviour of a crowd. You cannot really discipline a crowd and even in parliament, they fight. So, we should forgive them in Nigeria for they don’t know what they are doing as regards the ethics of parliamentary behaviour. They are human beings, they are undisciplined society in a position to be disciplined and acted according to that, which is being undisciplined.

Don’t forget that there is freedom of expression. These lawmakers behave at their level of growth and maturity. That is why I said you can take the pig out of the bush but you cannot take bush out of the pig. There are some Presidents or Head of States who will walk out of the National Assembly if such a thing happened but not President Muhammadu Buhari, a highly dignified, matured and respected gentleman. You will recall that when he told the lawmakers that they should behave themselves properly because people are watching, the booing and indecent behaviour died down. You can also see a very matured leader in the person of Yakubu Dogara shaking his head at the conduct of his colleagues. So, I think Nigerians should forgive them and move on.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Monday said it would have been impossible for President Buhari to win the 2015 election without his support. What is your perspective on that?

Have you forgotten that Obasanjo was Head of State in 1976 and handed over in 1979 and later came back to become Civilian President in 1999? But for people like IBB , Abdulsalami Abubakar and some others he wouldn’t have become president. In 2003, if not that he knelt down and begged Atiku, he wouldn’t have been reelected. So, if someone could be helped to become president, why should you come out publicly and boast about it? Let Obasanjo congratulate himself and also congratulate him that if not for him, Buhari wouldn’t have become president in 2015 according to his claims. Don’t forget that in 2003, Obasanjo was president and Buhari had 12 million votes. In 2007, Buhari had 6 million votes and the late President Umaru Yar’Adua agreed that the election was massively rigged and mismanaged. Someone who was in position to mismanage that election was Obasanjo because he was the sitting president when the election was conducted. In 2011, Buhari had 12 million votes. In 2015, Buhari had 15 million votes, that is extra 3 million votes to the 12 million votes he had in 2011. Perhaps, it was Obasanjo that provided the extra 3 million votes. If we analyse the votes, the South- West provided about 2 million votes and the person that the people of the South- West looked up to for direction was Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and not Obasanjo. Obasanjo was against Jonathan and most of the votes came from the South East and South South. We all know that Obasanjo did not influence votes for Buhari in these two regions because APC had less than 300,000 votes. In the South- West that Obasanjo comes from, I don’t know what structure he had to be able to give votes to Buhari or how much of the 12 million votes that Buhari had in 2003 that Obasanjo influenced. I don’t know how Obasanjo came about his boast that Buhari was only able to win the election because of him. His case can be likened to that of a lizard beating his own chest about what he has done and I congratulate him.

Now that Obasanjo is backing Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the PDP, do you see President Buhari winning his reelection?

The answer to prayer of winning an election is voting. So, let us see where Obasanjo will provide the votes that will make PDP defeat Buhari in 2019. As an analyst and a monitor of democracy, I don’t see where Obasanjo has votes to make Buhari either win or lose. Obasanjo after his letter to Buhari tried a third option as alternative to APC and PDP but what he mobilised did not take off. Then he formed ADC which has contested one or two elections but didn’t make any point. He said that if CNM, the body he formed to undermine Buhari in 2019 transforms into a political party, he will withdraw. But the fact is, the same Obasanjo who announced that he has called it quit with partisan politics attended a PDP rally in Abeokuta. He has also moved into a political party but that has not taken off. So, he is not a member of APC and has never been a member of our party and as such, I don’t know where the votes he needs to remove Buhari will come from. We have the support of Nigerians and as such we will have the votes. Obasanjo didn’t have votes in 1999. In fact, his people in the South- West rejected him but IBB and others assisted him. In 2003, he had to kneel down for Atiku before he won. In 2011, I am not aware that he was the one who made Goodluck Jonathan won. In 2015, Buhari contested against Jonathan and APC won and like I said Obasanjo is not a member of our party. So, I don’t really know where Obasanjo’s strength lies apart from just talking; saying this today and saying that tomorrow. But he is a national leader and people must listen to him and not take him to the cleaners

You said Nigerians should listen to Obasanjo when he speaks. Now that he said Nigerians should vote out President Buhari in 2019, should we listen to him?

They should listen to him because he has freedom of expression and he is exercising it. But the fact that you listen to him doesn’t mean you will do whatever he says. Obasanjo can only talk but he can’t get votes from anywhere.

Niger Delta Group Tackles Buhari Over Nigeria’s Worsening Economic Situation
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 12-28-2018, 09:36 AM - No Replies

A socio economic and political pressure group, the Niger Delta Development Initiative (NDDI) has expressed sadness over Nigeria’s worsening economic statistics in recent times.

It blamed the policies of President Muhammadu Buhari for the downward trend in the economy.

They also criticized the President for the failure of his anti-corruption campaign and for allowing his party, the APC to shelter some politicians they had previously described as very corrupt.

In a statement Thursday in Uyo and endorsed by its President and Secretary, Mr Ernest Ukpe and Tom Buma, the group expressed sadness that corruption has increased in the country despite the high expectations of Nigerians following the President’s promises of fighting corruption to a standstill when he was sworn-in in 2015.

“We are however surprised that the President is campaigning with corrupt politicians like the former Senate Minority Leader Chief Godswill Akpabio and the NDDC MD Obong Nsima Ekere who have been enmeshed in misappropriation scandals.

“Senator Akpabio, Muslimu Obianikoro, Orji Uzor Kalu and all the previously “corrupt” PDP big wigs have now been sanctified after their defection to APC. Recall that Akpabio was charged over N180 billion money laundering,” it said.

The statement said that “the President’s five point agenda and his economic policies have failed with no return on the country’s debt; the present administration has borrowed more than the Obasanjo, Yaradua and Goodluck Jonathan’s administrations in three years while electricity generation and distribution has worsened.

“Nigeria has become the poverty capital of the world overtaking India with more than 50% living in extreme poverty, while the UN predicts that Nigeria needs 11.9 people per minute to escape extreme poverty, but presently has a deficit of 6.8 people every minute, i.e. 6.8 people enter into poverty every minute.

“According to statistics by NACCIMA, more than 800 companies shut down within the three years of this current administration further denying Nigerians of the much needed employment opportunities and ruining the
livelihood of many families.”

“Under the present administration Nigeria has become the 2nd worst electricity supply nation in the world. The country has not added more than 1,000 MGW to its supply bank while Egypt in less than two years have added 14,500 MGW of electricity, enough to provide uninterrupted power for over 40 million people.” It said.

The group expressed their support for a President who would ensure the immediate restructuring and practice of
true federalism in Nigeria, commence the immediate development of the Niger Delta and clean up Ogoni and other communities ravaged by oil exploration and exploitation.

“That though we sympathize with the President as a human for his fragile health, Nigerians will want a very healthy and strong President who can cope with the rigorous demands of the office. We strongly doubt that the current state of health of the President will let him cope with the demands of his office.

“As we welcome the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces Gen Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd.) for the flag off of his Presidential Campaign in Uyo on Friday we will want to remind him that the Niger Delta people will only support a President who will give us restructuring, true federation and who will truly fight corruption.

“That the Niger Delta people will only support a President who will build our battered economy and who will support investments, develop the Niger Delta region and Akwa Ibom in particular.

“The East/West Road has been abandoned while only N3 billion out of the more than N130 Billion needed for Calabar/ Itu highway has been released to mobilize the contractor making the people of the region to believe that this could be another political road project.

“Niger Delta Development Initiative therefore call on the President to as a matter of urgency begin the implementation of the recommendations of the 2014 constitutional conference as regards the practice of true federalism. Bring all corrupt politicians who have formerly been indicted to book. Begin the implementation of a feasible and sustainable road-map for the development of the Niger Delta,” they further stated.

Morning Devotional For Friday 28th December

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

FRIDAY, 28TH DECEMBER.

CHRIST: OUR PASSOVER.

Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us (1 Corinthians 5:7).

In Exodus 12:12, as a result of Pharaoh’s hardheartedness, the death angel, the “destroyer,” was going to visit the land of Egypt and wreak havoc. However, the Lord instructed each household of the children of Israel to kill a lamb and rub the blood on the two side-posts, and on the upper door-post of their houses.

God said to them, “And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt” (Exodus 12:13). That’s where the term “Passover” came from. That lamb that was slain was the symbol of the Passover; it was called the Passover lamb.

We read in our opening verse that Christ Jesus is our Passover; He was slain for us, and His blood was used as that symbol. He was judged in our place like that lamb back in the Old Testament was slain for the Jews. Then, on the night of His betrayal, after He had broken bread with His disciples, He took the cup and said, “…This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me” (1 Corinthians 11:25).
Our salvation came from His blood. Therefore, we’ve passed from death to life. There’s therefore now no judgment, no destruction for us who are in Christ Jesus, because Christ our Passover has been sacrificed for us.

The destroyer shall not come to your house. It doesn’t matter in whatever way or form he comes to destroy; whether he comes with poverty, disease or infirmity of any kind, you’re shielded, because you’re in Christ. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Thank you blessed Father, for the knowledge of your Word that imparts faith and courage to my spirit. I live in health and prosperity, and my life is the revelation and manifestation of your glory and praise, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

1 John 2:1-2 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for [the sins of] the whole world.

Matthew 26:27-28 AMPC And He took a cup, and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, Drink of it, all of you; 28 For this is My blood of the new covenant, which [[a]ratifies the agreement and] is [b]being poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

Exodus 12:23 For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite [you].

#TALKINGSESSION

28TH DECEMBER.

KINDLY SAY THIS WORDS OUT LOUD.

Dear Father, I thank you for your Word; it is the truth by which I live today and every day. The knowledge of your Word in my spirit puts me over and gives me the victory every day! Fear, sickness, poverty, and death have no place in me because I live by faith in the Word of God, which is my recipe for total

success, victory, prosperity and divine
health. The Word of faith is in my heart and my mouth; as I speak it forth, it produces the desired result. I am obtaining promises, producing righteousness everywhere I go and effecting great changes by the Word of God through faith. The ancient Nri kingdom in Anaocha local government area of Anambra state would Friday stand still as Igbo from all walks of life troupe to the town for the unveiling of 70-year Igbo ancestral Odinani museum by the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo.

The idea of the museum was conceived by an anthropologist, late Prof. Angulu Onwuejiogwu and his compatriot at the University of Ibadan, Nouchcot Thomas Shaw who were then researchers on Igbo culture and civilization over 70 years ago.

Speaking to journalists in Nri yesterday, the Chairman of Nri Stakeholders Forum, Hon. Chijioke Ifeka said the artefacts in the museum have recorded over 500 years in existence contrary to false claims of other Igbo communities of having similar custodianship of such materials.

According to him: “This museum has the contribution of a white man, Nouchcot Thomas who excavated some antiquities at Igbo-ukwu. Historically, the excavation spot is said to be the place occupied by Ora Eri people who migrated from Nri and settled there.

“We are going to gain a lot from the unveiling because our history was drastically going off from the map of the world. This will as well re-unite Nri people due to the assemblage of relics of past monarchs from different quarters of the Kingdom in the museum.”

Also speaking, the General Overseer of Liberation Temple of Absolute God, Dr Ramas Asuzu said Odinani museum was so unique from other museums because of practical academic experiments it renders to virtually all tertiary institutions in the country.

According to him: “It is more of an academic centre where you could study the origin of Igbo due to the display of relevant paraphernalia of ancient kings of Nri kingdom.

“This also informs how Ndigbo are contained with their democratic communal leadership and war tools in ancient days with over 5,000 artefacts.”

Asuzu advised Nri people to be mindful of what God has given them and always project Igbo culture and tradition jealously than being more ‘Catholic than the Pope’.

However, it would be recalled that the museum which had collapsed out of negligence since 2010, was later rebuilt by an illustrious son of Nri, Prince Engr Charles Tabansi at an estimated cost of N50million.

Politicians Pressurising Us To Sell Unclaimed 914, 529 PVCs – INEC
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

The Independent National Electoral Commission on Thursday raised the alarm that some politicians in Oyo State were mounting pressure on the commission to sell unclaimed 914,529 permanent voter cards in its custody to them.

The commission said it was not giving in to such pressure aimed at rigging the forthcoming polls because “INEC is determined to ensure that people’s votes count in the free, fair and credible elections in 2019.”

Speaking on the theme, “Online journalism and Media integrity in Nigeria,” Agboke declared that some politicians, whose identities he did not disclose, approached the commission to buy PVCs to rig the elections.

He stated, “As far as we are concerned, PVCs are not for sale.”

The REC assured residents of the state of smooth elections devoid of crisis in 2019, stressing that no worker of the commission would sell PVCs to any politician ahead of the 2019 elections.

Agboke said, “They are looking for PVCs to buy. They are looking for what is not available because they know that these things are not available. This is the security report at my disposal.

“Tell those who are looking for PVCs to buy that there is none to buy in Oyo State. I can assure you that no INEC employee will sell PVCs to any politician. I can assure you that the process will be free and fair in Oyo State.

“Those who are looking for PVCs to buy, I won’t give you their names. I don’t have their names.

“But that is the security report I got and the report did not specify the party and the individuals that are involved. They want us to give them PVCs but we can’t give it to them. They want to buy PVCs but there is none to sell in Oyo State.”

Agboke urged journalists in the state to cooperate with the commission in spreading accurate information to members of the public.

He said, “All of us are stakeholders. If you are in doubt, call INEC. More so, you are online journalists, let us ensure that we have our facts correct. For me in Oyo State, I have nothing to hide. We conducted the election in Eruwa and the people that won, won.”

He urged journalists to abide by the ethics of the profession at all times.

The South-West Bureau Chief of The Nation and an Associate Editor of the Nigerian Tribune newspapers, Mr Bisi Oladele, and Mr Wale Ojo-Lanre respectively, urged journalists to always abide by the rules and regulations guiding the profession in their day-to-day reportage.

They said online journalism had come to stay in Nigeria and admonished journalists to distinguish themselves from ordinary writers considering the fact that “almost everybody is a journalist with the advent of internet and smart phones.”

They agreed that one of the ways for the journalists “ to differentiate themselves from ordinary writers was for them to cross-check their facts, investigate their stories and be conscious of the existing laws of the land.”

50,000 Sokoto PDP members desert Tambuwal for APC

In a major blow to the second term ambition of Sokoto Governor Aminu Tambuwal, 50,000 members of his Peoples Democratic Party have switched allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defectors were received by Sen. Aliyu Wammako, the APC strongman and Tambuwal’s former godfather.

Among the defectors were former Special Advisers to Gov. Aminu Tambuwal, former local government Chairmen and former State House of Assembly members, as well as many other officials of PDP in the state.

Sen. Wammako, welcomed the new entrants into the Party and assured them of equal treatment with all the existing members of APC in the state.
Wammako further said that many more members of the PDP had already joined the APC and promised to unveil them soon.

He warned the Tambuwal government against intimidating the workers who have pitched their loyalty with the APC.

“No amount of intimidation would deter the people of the state from massively loving and supporting APC and all its candidates, at all levels.
“Moreover, in a matter of weeks , the APC will take over the state, while President Muhammadu Buhari, including all the party’s candidates, at all levels , would be massively voted by Nigerians,” he said.

Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu, the APC governorship candidate and Tambuwal’s former deputy said, “all the PDP members who initially went astray have now come back to the right party.”

He congratulated them for joining the APC and assured them of equal treatment. He promised to emulate Sen. Wammako’s leadership qualities when eventually elected.

The Director -General of the State APC Campaign Council, Alhaji Yusuf Suleiman, who was a former Minister of Transport commended Wammako for providing credible and worthy leadership to the party and its members in the state.

Spokespersons of the defectors, Abubakar Dantama, former Chairman of Silame Local Government and Murtala Hassan, former state Assembly member said that they joined APC, because the party stands for justice and fairness.

They also promised to assiduously work to ensure the success of the party’s candidates, at all levels in the general elections.

Oyetola, His Deputy Dragged To Court Over Oath Of Office
User Avatar Forum: News

Governor Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola and his Deputy, Benedict Alabi of Osun State, have been dragged to court for taking oaths of office as Governor and Deputy Governor of “State of Osun” instead of Osun State during their swearing in ceremony on November 27, 2018.

Chairman, Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Ilesa Branch, Kanmi Ajibola filed the suit before the court.

Ajibola asked the court among other things to set aside the swearing-in of the defendants as governor and deputy governor of “State of Osun” as illegal, unconstitutional, null and void.

It would be recalled that Justice Yinka Afolabi of the state High Court, Ilesa had declared the use of “State of Osun” as illegal and unconstitutional while delivering judgment on December 14, 2017 in a suit filed by the same activist lawyer against the enactment of a law tagged “State of Osun Land Use Tax Law”.
Besides, the same judge struck out the stay of execution application of the judgment filed by the state government on December 4, 2018 for lack of diligent prosecution.

In the fresh suit, Ajibola who said he filed his case in pursuant to Section 6 (6) (b) and 24 of the 1999 constitution and Order 3 Rules 5 and 8 of the High Court of Osun state brought before the court some questions for determination.
According to him, it must be determined “by making an interpretative inference from the State (Creation and Transitional Provision) Act, Annotated Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2014 and the oath of office of the Governor of a state contained in the Seventh Schedule of the 1999 Constitution whether what the Constitution created is the State of Osun.”

And that by the community reading of the same act and the 1999 constitution with its schedules and the case of Aregbesola versus Oyinlola (2010) LPELR – 3805 (CA) whether the 1st Defendant is the “Governor of State of Osun”.

He also asked the court to determine whether the swearing-in of the defendants are lawful and constitutional and whether they can lawfully benefit to their advantage, based on their “unlawful and unconstitutional occupation” of public office as the Governor and Deputy Governor of State of Osun respectively.

Ajibola sought nine reliefs and one of it was a declaration that in law and semantic analysis, the “State of Osun” is not the same thing as “Osun State”.

He asked the court to set aside the swearing –in of the defendants as the governor and deputy governor of “State of Osun”, declared the exercise as a nullity and order them to refund to the state the salaries, allowances, and security votes taken from the 27th day of November 2018 to the time they cease to exist as the governor and deputy governor of State of Osun.

Ajibola also asked for an order restraining defendants, in their respective capacities as the governor and deputy governor of “State of Osun” from taking, in the name of Osun State, any local and foreign loan(s) from any financial institution or other lending bodies for the purpose of implementing any projects of whatever kinds in the state.

Senate Committee: $1.05bn NLNG Dividend Not Missing
User Avatar Forum: Oil/Gas
Posted by: Edoman - 12-28-2018, 08:10 AM - No Replies

The Senate Committee on Gas has again confirmed that no $1.05 billion NLNG dividend was missing.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee, Senator Bassey Albert, had clarified that the ongoing investigation of the application of $1.05billion Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) dividend to support the importation of petroleum products into the country had nothing to do with any missing funds since no such money was missing in the first place.

Downstream operators who spoke on the controversy said the efforts of NNPC in ensuring that there was no scarcity of petrol during Christmas yielded positive results as Nigerians had a hitch-free celebrations.

“It was evident that the NNPC judiciously utilised available resources to ensure uninterrupted supply of petrol,” said a CEO of oil marketing company, who spoke on anonymity.

Senator Albert, who doubles as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Application of the NLNG Dividend, had clarified that the mandate of the Committee was to determine the instrument under which NNPC relied upon to affect the said withdrawal and subsequent application of the NLNG dividend to meet pressing national demand for fuel supply, noting that the Committee relies on NNPC to provide informed perspective on the issues.

The Senate Committee Chairman emphasised that the engagement with NNPC was to understand the rudiments of the account flow and also to discover how the Committee, working in harmony with NNPC, could make the NLNG dividend more effective and beneficial to the nation.

Responding, Mr. Isiaka Abdulrazaq, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of NNPC, who represent the corporation’s Group Managing Director, Dr. Maikanti Baru, pledged the willingness of the corporation to support the Committee in its assignment, saying that relevant documents have been supplied to the panel to enable it determine the veracity or otherwise of NNPC’s perspective.

NNMA Laments 31% Slash In Capital Budget
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 12-28-2018, 08:08 AM - No Replies

The Nigerian National Merit Award (NNMA) has lamented a 31 per cent cut in its 2019 budget, insisting that such will only double its serially increasing debt burden from one year to another.

According to the NNMA, prior to the slash, the allocation from the federal government alone was grossly inadequate to meet its statutory demands, adding that with the shortfall, the agency will hardly survive 2019 without encountering financial hardship.

Chairman of the governing board, Prof Shekarau Yakubu Aku who stated this in Abuja at the opening ceremony of the 11th forum of the laureates of the Nigerian National Order of Merit (NNOM) themed, “The Imperative of Unity in Diversity”.

He said the slash will further create untold hardship to the agency in fulfilling its mandate, and called on the federal government to give legal backing on the proposed NNMA policy group.

The group, he maintained, has the ability to assist government at all levels in policy implementation and programmes.

Aku said: “It is unfortunate also that the cut down of NNMA’s capital budget for year 2019 by 31 per cent will further create untold hardship on achieving the core mandate of the NNMA.

“The allocation from the federal government alone is grossly inadequate to meet the needs of the NNMA, so the agency hardly survives in a year without facing pronounced financial hardship that frequently threatens its core mandate, which creates a serially correlated debt burden from one year to the next,” he said.

Meanwhile, after a rigorous screening exercise by the board, only one winner emerged as the 2018 recipient of the Nigerian National Order of Merit (NNOM).

The awardee in all the categories namely humanities, science, medicine, engineering and technology, is Prof. Olufemi Obafemi, a creative writer, critic, dramatist as well as a theatre director.

Aku said due to the strictness employed, many were not configured and so did not apply, noting that nominations had not dropped but that those who submitted themselves were below what was expected.

“The process of selection is very rigorous. The nominees must support with the evidence of their work that has been researched and this is quite an expensive exercise,” he added.

Air Peace To Fly Dubai, London, Other Routes In 2019
User Avatar Forum: Market Place
Posted by: Edoman - 12-28-2018, 08:06 AM - No Replies

Air Peace has unveiled its plan for the aviation sector in 2019, assuring air travellers of packages including exceptional long-haul flights to Dubai, Sharjah, London, Guangzhou-China, Houston, Mumbai and Johannesburg.

The Chairman of Air Peace, Mr. Allen Onyema, gave the assurance in a statement issued yesterday in Lagos.

Onyema urged staff of the airline to gear up to raise the bar of flight services to the travelling public in 2019.

The chairman commended the travelling public for preferring Air Peace and staying loyal to its brand in 2018.

He attributed the success of the airline in four years to the unflinching support its customers, pledging that the carrier would spare nothing in making their experience truly rewarding, exciting and safe.

“2018 was both challenging and exciting for us. It was the year we upped our record of firsts.

“In the year under review, we launched a number of domestic and regional routes under our no-city-left-behind project on the platform of our subsidiary, Air Peace Hopper.

“We also made history as the first domestic airline to acquire and register the Boeing 777 aircraft in Nigeria. We have so far acquired four Boeing 777s, with two already delivered.

“We also successfully renewed our International Air Transport Association Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certificate and Air Operator Certificate (AOC) after a very rigorous process.

“We also diversified the aircraft in our fleet with the inclusion of six 50-seater Embraer 145 jets, which have so far helped our yuletide operations in no small way,” Onyema said.”

According to him, the airline in September signed a deal with American plane maker, Boeing, for the delivery of 10 brand new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, making Air Peace the first to achieve the feat on the West Coast of Africa.

“We are sincerely grateful to our loyal customers without whose support, preference for our brand and patronage we could not have made a success of the target we set for ourselves in 2018.

“It was quite a challenging year too, given the dire economic situation across the world, but our esteemed customers supported us through it all.

“In 2019, we are going to implement a series of bolder decisions aimed at giving the flying public a truly exciting experience.”

“Already, we have begun the expansion of our flight operations to the Murtala Muhammed Airport 2 (MMA2) in response to our customers’ wish for a better space to serve them.

“This would become effective Jan. 2, 2019 with the operation of our Lagos-Akure, Lagos-Asaba, Lagos-Kaduna and Lagos-Port Harcourt NAF Base services from the facility.

“All flights under our subsidiary, Air Peace Hopper will eventually be moved to MMA2,”he said.

Onyema said Air Peace was also going to give the flying public a reliable, safe, affordable and comfortable alternative on some international routes, including Dubai, Sharjah, Guangzhou-China, Mumbai, London, Houston and Johannesburg.

“Our staff has been wonderful with their commitment and dedication to duty through the years, but 2019 is one year all hands must be on the deck.

“This is to enable us give our customers the best flight experience on the domestic, regional and international routes and make our dear country, Nigeria and West Africa truly proud in the global aviation industry,” he said.

Buhari Scolding His Wife Not Pdp’s Business – Garba Shehu
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 12-27-2018, 07:00 PM - No Replies

Quote:Abuja – Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, has said that if the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) wants to make family the issue in the coming elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) would gladly accept the challenge.

“Let this be the subject for 2019 election,” he told State House Correspondents in an interaction on Wednesday.

Reacting to various comments by several organs of the opposition party on remarks made by the President on views publicly expressed by his wife, Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, in an interview, the Presidential Spokesman, said questions raised of the President by the PDP in regard to his wife only amounted to an own goal.

“The PDP leadership cannot afford to make family an issue in this campaign. Need I say more? The only thing I want to add is that PDP is engaging in mud-slinging because it finds it easier than speaking on their despicable 16-year record in the course of which they abused the trust of Nigerians.

“They made a mess of everything including the economy, security and infrastructure. It has come to the destiny of President Muhammadu Buhari to correct their mistakes.

“The PDP doesn’t see anything beyond grabbing power, power at all costs. As an opposition party, they have failed. They have remained disconnected with the masses of our people.

“It is an irony that a party that boasted as being the largest in Africa is now begging small parties for alliances. Even if they get all those paper parties behind them, they will still fail. A Presidential contest is more than the issuance of daily press releases containing falsehoods.

“They have launched a campaign for the Presidency, a campaign that has failed to get any traction. PDP members are themselves admitting that the campaign hadn’t made a good start, that attendance at rallies had unarguably been thin. The whole thing is not working; that President Buhari is unstoppable,” Garba Shehu said.

He continued, “rather than a so-called cabal, an imaginary creation attached to all past governments of the country, President Buhari is remote-controlled by the 200 million-plus Nigerian people whose interest is uppermost in everything he says and does.

“The PDP doesn’t have the strength and support to fight President Buhari. They don’t have the records in security, economy and the war against corruption to mount any meaningful challenge.

“They have no records of accomplishments in infrastructure. In the 16 years they held sway, they have nothing to show for the colossal oil revenues earned, including USD 16 billion doled upfront from the Central Bank for power, without a single megawatt to show for all that money. That is why they are dragging the President’s wife into their politics.”

Drunk BRT Driver Flees After Knocking Down Naval Officer's Wife In Lagos

A BRT vehicle driver has found himself in deep trouble after he ran down a woman while driving under the influence in Lagos.

[size=undefined]

A yet-to-be identified driver of a Bus Rapid Transit vehicle belonging to Primero Transport Services Limited, who was said to be driving under the influence of alcohol, reportedly knocked down a naval officer’s wife, Bilikisu Adedoyin, at Irawo bus stop, Ajegunle, Ikorodu Road, Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro
gathered that 43-year-old Adedoyin, who was on her way home before she was knocked down by the BRT bus with number plate EKY 160 XR, was taken to the emergency unit of the Ikorodu General Hospital, after allegedly being denied care by two private hospitals.

One of the commuters in the bus, Paul Chinedu, who said attempts to caution the driver, who was alleged to be drunk, proved abortive, added that the concerned authorities should caution the drivers of BRT buses in order to prevent the reoccurrence of such accidents.

He said, “I was one of the passengers on the bus; I had been complaining about the driver’s speed and the fact that he was drunk, but he did not listen. When he spoke to me, I perceived the strong smell of alcohol from his breath. Suddenly, another bus emerged and the woman (Adedoyin) was on the road; the driver could not control the speed of the bus and that was how he knocked down the woman.

“The most annoying part was that when he jumped down from the bus to see what had happened, he took the next available motorcycle and ran away. Those in charge of the BRT buses need to caution their drivers to reduce their speed while driving on the BRT lanes, and to watch the way they live, because the driver was drunk and that was why this accident happened.”

Another commuter, Jeffry Nneji, said the driver was not focused, because he was multitasking while taking the passengers to their various destinations.

The 22-year-old said, “Everybody was in shock because of this accident. To be honest, the driver was driving at more than the regulated speed for BRT buses. I boarded the bus at Agric and while on the way, we observed that the driver was scratching the pavement from the outset. He was also multitasking; he was using his headphones and playing music while driving. We cautioned him before this accident happened, but he was not bothered.

“In an attempt to avoid knocking the woman down, he drove into the other lane but another BRT bus was close by and it was too late for him to control the bus, because the speed was much and he hit the woman. Immediately, he jumped out of the bus to see the victim and he just disappeared.”

An eyewitness, Obi Benson, who had wanted to board a vehicle at the bus stop, said he beckoned on other people to come and rescue the woman when she was bleeding profusely on the floor.

Adedoyin’s husband, Adebowale, who said he became worried when his wife’s telephone line was unreachable, added that he was informed of the accident by a family friend.

The naval officer said, “Her number was not going through when I called her around 9:15pm, so my thought was that she had a flat battery. But I became worried when I later tried her line and it still didn’t go through. It was a family friend who called to inform me that she was involved in an accident and had been transferred to the Ikorodu General Hospital. When I got there, I saw that she sustained injuries on her head, hands and legs.

“When I asked for the age of the driver, the representative of the company, who came to visit the victim, told me he was about 22-year-old. I was surprised that someone that young drove the bus. But the accident has happened, and my wife’s life is more precious to me and I thank God that she can now open her eyes.

“Although, we are still watching her, I was told that she would need a brain scan, which will cost about N40,000, I have spent over N43,000 on her medical bills at the hospital, but the management of the company has assured me that they will take care of the expenses.”

The Chief Security Officer, Primero Transport Services Limited, Cletus Okodolor, said the management was paying attention to Adedoyin’s recuperation at the Ikorodu General Hospital.

He stated, “I cannot say yes or no to the issue of the driver being drunk, because the police, who have him in their custody, did not tell me that. What normally happens is that whenever there is an accident, there is this fear that they (drivers) will be attacked by the angry mob.

“We have always told our drivers that in the case of any accident, they should go to the nearest police station, and if any of our depots happens to be close, they should go there so that we can sort it out and afterwards submit our vehicle to the police.

“The driver is new with us and it was out of fear that he ran away. It was when we contacted the police that they came to take the bus to the station and took the driver into custody. I can’t also deny the issue of speed, because I don’t know the level of speed he was maintaining as of the time the accident happened. But we always warn them against exceeding 45 kilometres per hour. Even, during my training, I always told them that there were areas that you were not allowed the 45 kilometres per hour.

“We are paying the lady attention at the Ikorodu General Hospital and I am already speaking with the husband, who confirmed to me that his wife had been responding to treatment. So, the due process is being followed on this matter; in our usual way, we don’t always want to talk about who is at fault, because we don’t compromise life. I have sent my boys there and they said she is responding to treatment.”

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti, who confirmed the accident to our correspondent, said the driver ran to the police station to report the accident.

“The woman involved in that accident with the BRT bus is recuperating in the hospital. However, the driver did not run away, he ran to the police station and reported himself. He is currently in detention and investigation is ongoing,”Oti stated.

Zamfara Killings Unacceptable, Threat To Our Democracy – Saraki
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has described the killings in Zamfara State as barbaric, unacceptable and called on the security agencies to swiftly devise a strategy to put an end to the ugly situation.

He also said that the killings was a major threat to our democracy, particularly as we move towards election period in the next 50 days.

Saraki, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser (Media and Publicity), Yusuph Olaniyonu, stated that the situation in Zamfara State is a demonstration that unlike in 2015 when the only crisis point in the northern part of the country was the North-east zone, the North-west has today been engulfed by a bloody situation in which human lives are wasted on a daily basis.

He said the killings have gone on for too long and the situation has not been given the desired attention as well as the right strategy that will stop it, adding that there was a clear indication of systemic failure.

“There is need for certain and proper profiling of the situation so that we can know whether it is simple cattle rustling, vicious armed robbery on a large scale, religious cum ethnic crisis or invasion by foreign forces.

“Our security agencies must immediately come out with a proper understanding of the situation, the right strategy and deployment of the necessary troops to tackle the menace. We must within the next few days send the right signals to the criminals in that area that the Nigerian State will no longer tolerate the on-going blood-letting.

“We must immediately change our strategy. Also, the President has to take full, direct control. May be the President must widen the consultation within the armed forces on the search for solution to this problem. He must go beyond the first line military top brass. We need to get ideas from more sources than we presently do.

“In 2014, I remember that President Jonathan was told that ‘you control the armed forces and you are the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces of the Federal Republic, why should any part of the country be under occupation by criminals’. Why should we not apply the same logic to the occurrence in Zamfara today?

“It is expected that by now, the President would have arranged a meeting with leaders of the National Assembly, legislators, traditional rulers and other key stakeholders from the affected state, to exchange ideas and proffer lasting solutions to the issue. The key advantage of a democracy is that it provides for wide consultation and inclusion. No one person or group has all the monopoly of knowledge. We really need to do all that is possible to stop the carnage,

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

THURSDAY, 27TH DECEMBER.

HE’S LORD OF ALL.

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth (Philippians 2:9-10).

In Matthew 28:18, Jesus said, “...All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” No one in all of history ever had the audacity to make such a statement; only Jesus. He’s the Saviour of the world; the Lord of heaven and earth. Being the Lord of heaven and earth means His Name has power and commands respect in heaven, in earth, and under the earth.

It’s on the basis of His Lordship and authority that He sent us to make disciples of all nations; to preach the Gospel with boldness and power. He said in Matthew 28:19, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations….” He commissioned us to use His sovereign authority to make disciples of all men.

The extent of His authority and greatness of His power is revealed in our opening scripture. All things are subject to Him. The Father and the Holy Spirit both answer to the Name of Jesus. Colossians 1:19 says, “For it pleased the Father that in him (Jesus) should all fulness dwell.”

The Church needs to be bolder and more audacious about Jesus. We’re not serving a mere religious leader, but One who’s Lord of all. He has all authority in heaven, in earth, and under the earth. Therefore, be unapologetic in your identity with Him, and speak boldly of Him.

God gave you His Spirit to live in you and embolden you, so you can serve Him courageously, and proclaim the Gospel with boldness. If you were asked to pray or speak anywhere, don’t be intimidated or ashamed to speak or pray in the Name of Jesus. Proclaim His Name boldly, because you know who He is; He’s Lord of all: “The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of allSmile” (Acts 10:36).

CONFESSION

I’ve been sent to preach the Gospel to all men with the authority of Jesus Christ, the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords. His Name is a mighty instrument for salvation, blessings, miracles, signs and wonders. He alone is God, and worthy of all praise, and adoration for forever. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

1 Timothy 6:14-16 That thou keep [this] commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: 15 Which in his times he shall shew, [who][ is] the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; 16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom [be] honour and power everlasting. Amen.

1 Chronicles 29:11 Thine, O LORD, [is] the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all [that is] in the heaven and in the earth [is thine]; thine [is] the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.

Romans 14:11 For it is written, [As] I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

#TALKINGSESSION

27TH DECEMBER.

KINDLY SAY THIS WORDS OUT LOUD.

Father, in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for you’re the One at work in me, both to will and to do your good pleasure. Thank you for blessing my life and making me a blessing to my world. You’ve made me prosperous and effective in whatever

I lay my hands to do. My harvest is always supernatural in relation to my seed. I declare that for every seed I have sown my harvest comes speedily. None of my seeds shall fail to produce the expected harvest. I receive even now a multiplied harvest of all my seeds sown, in the Name of Jesus. Amen.

God bless you

307 The Number of Days Leah Sharibu Has Been Under Captivity Because of Her Faith

307 The number of days that Leah Sharibu has been under captivity of The Boko Haram because of her Christian faith.

The teaching of Christ is as simple as the innocence of a Child. Yet, in tens of thousands states of mind, Christ’s teachings appear to the discerning…. particularly as one advances further and further in spirituality and away from religiosity.

This is done through transmission. This is where we differ from teaching algebra or calculus or tithing and prosperity. Thus, the place, the only place where you meet with God!

Here again on a Christmas day, they will preach the “gospel” Jesus never heard.
They Will Not preach THE BEATITUDES!
They will Not preach Jesus’s Advocacy of Owning 100 sheep, but never abandoning the 100th that got lost in place of holding on to the selfish thought that you still have 99 left. You go after Leah, not abandon her like she has been all this while by the GO’s, Pastors, Bishops and Pastorpreyneurs…!

Fela called them, “Opposite People”…Jesus called them Thieves and Hypocrites.

They throw you as many as you want, in their profession, they are scammers..
And the more you want, the more you yearn for God the more they’ll give you something by way of a word…. until you’re so confused that you’ll just beg for them to take all you have.
And then you won’t be able to Stop!
Stop what? You’re the one who started it — you’re the one in a hurry, believing a man who uses your money to pay for his own well armed security personnel for your own safety, you’re the one who uses your money to pay for their children’s education while yours suffer, you’re the one who uses your own money to buy them their Jeeps and Jets while you could barely maintain your rickety car, while believing their empty words will deliver to you a prosperity you have Not worked to earn by giving your earnings to mere con men.

it is Christmas anyway….. But do these men of scamming words even know it’s Christmas and who Jesus was and What he stood and still stands for!??

Do they know Leah Sharibu, let alone know what she stands for!??

Merry Christmas anyway.

Rat meat topples chicken, pork in India
Wednesday, December 26, 2018 INTERNATIONAL NEWS

                          [Image: Rat-meat-is-a-delicacy-in-India-e1545821857664.jpg]
Freshly-caught rat is at the top of the holiday menu for crowds flocking to a market in northeastern India that specialises in rodents from local fields.

Destined to be boiled, skinned and then cooked in a spicy gravy, rat is more popular than chicken and pork with customers at the Sunday market in the village of Kumarikata in Assam state.

Shoppers buy hundreds of freshly caught and skinned rats that local farmers say are hunted to avoid damage to their fields in the state which borders Bhutan. The ready-roasted kind also goes down well.

Rat has become a valuable source of income for the poor “Adivasi” tribal people who struggle to make ends meet working in Assam’s famed tea gardens.

In the winter months when tea picking slumbers, the Adivasis go to rice paddies to trap rats for the market.

A kilogramme (2.2 pounds) of rat meat, which is considered a delicacy, sells for about 200 rupees ($2.8) — as much as for chicken and pork.

Farmers say the region has seen growing numbers of rats in recent years.

“We put traps in the fields as the rats eat people’s paddy,” Samba Soren, a rat vendor at Kumarikata, told AFP.

The rodents are hunted at night during the harvesting season with traps made from bamboo.

The traps are placed at the entrance of the rat-holes in the evening and the rodents are caught as they come out to scavenge.

The vendors have to work at night to make sure other predators do not get to the dead rats first. Some of the rats weigh more than a kilogramme and the market traders say they get between 10 and 20 kilogrammes a night.

The Intelligence Response Team (IRT) has confirmed the arrest of two Ghanaians for allegedly robbing a truck driver of his vehicle and goods with acid.

The Force spokesman, DCP Jimoh Moshood confirmed the arrest to newsmen in Lagos, stressing that the suspects carried out the crime in Edo on December 9, while they were arrested in Enugu State.

Moshood said that the suspects allegedly poured raw acid on Taiwo Adesanya after robbing him at the Olukwu area of Benin City of his truck with goods. He said that the suspects, Eric Aidan and Matthew Kwasha, are notorious criminals who specialise in killing their victims with raw acid after dispossessing them of their belongings, especially vehicles.
The image maker of the force, who said that the suspects were currently being detained at IRT Cell in Ikeja , Lagos, noted that their mode of operation was to seek employment as driver and conductor in haulage companies. He said while in such company, they study the company and perfect ways to divert their employers goods and sell the vehicle.
Moshood said after selling the goods, they would relocate to another place where they would apply for the same position in another company, stressing that their last operation was the incident of December 9.
He said that after they attacked the driver who was sleeping from the long journey with raw acid, thinking that he was dead , they snatched his truck loaded with 600 bags of sugar and dragged him out of the truck. The police spokesman said that the owner of the truck petitioned the I-GP following the attack on the driver and the diversion of the sugar worth over N10 million the driver was transporting to Benin City.
According to Moshood, based on the petition, the I-GP directed the Commander IRT, DCP Abba Kyari to investigate the matter, stressing that upon the directives, Kyari directed CSP Phillip Rieninwa, IRT commander in Lagos to go after the suspects .
“The team led by CSP Rieniwa swung into action and tracked the suspects to a shrine in Nsukka, Enugu State, from where they were apprehended.
“They have confessed to the crime and they will soon be charged to the Court. The victim, who survived the acid attack, was able to recognise the suspects,” he said.

Oil Spill : NOSDRA calls for assent to agency’s amendment bill
Wednesday, December 26, 2018  NEW

Mr Peter Idabor, the Director General, National Oil Spills Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) has called for assent to the agency’s amendment bill to ensure criminalisation of oil-spill in the country.

Idabor made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

“At the moment, what we have is just a civil offence, so oil companies know it’s just a civil offence and they pollute the environment with impunity.

“But with the amendment bill, it will criminalise any company that pollutes the environment.

“And if they know that it is a criminal offence and that they can be sent to jail for polluting the environment, they will be more careful in their operations,’’ he said.

According to him, oil companies, and their managing directors, should be held responsible for such acts which are in defiance of NOSDRA orders.

“It will give NOSDRA more powers to protect and respond to environmental pollution, help support the clean-up of Ogoni and also enable remediation of communities impacted by the oil industry in the Niger Delta.

“The bill will enforce increased fines and penalties for defaulters as well as monitor the decommissioning of oil facilities and hold oil companies accountable.’’

He also said that most of the loopholes in NOSDRA’s operations had been blocked in the amendment bill so that oil companies would be made to obey the law.

“What these oil companies do here, they cannot do in their home countries.

“So we are still looking for ways to enable the communities of the Niger Delta get what they deserve in terms of compensation.

“At the same time we also want them to cooperate with us and know that what they are getting is nothing compared to the damage that is being inflicted on the host environments.

“We are concerned about the impact on the people. If the oil spill is sighted by the community members, they should immediately report to us, either by telephone or by making any other contacts.

“We have regional offices in Port Harcourt, Warri, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Imo, Kaduna and Gombe and so you are to report to the nearest office.’’

Idabor said that any oil company that failed to stop the spill within 24hours would be sanctioned.

“We have been doing that and they have been paying.

“There is an oil company that failed to report a spill and we sanctioned it and it paid N250million and we sanctioned another oil company N3.6billion recently.

“We also have others in court,’’ he said.

Idabor also cautioned Nigerians on the dangers posed by crude oil pipeline vandalism.

“Pollution is very dangerous; here in NOSDRA, we’re concerned with the health of the people because most of them are not aware of the dangers of crude oil pipeline vandalism and its by-products.

“Several of its products are metallic and casinogenic and they have hazardous substances.

“One of our primary jobs is to create awareness, because some communities give their children crude oil to consume when they have convulsions.’’

He urged people of oil producing areas not to expose themselves to crude oil and to desist from pipeline vandalism.

He warned that the environment would be damaged adding that the damage would be detrimental to future generations.
NAN reports that NOSDRA is the Nigerian government agency responsible for monitoring and responding to oil pollution in the Niger Delta.

The NOSDRA Amendment Bill has been passed by both arms of the National Assembly and is awaiting the president’s assent. (NAN)

Buhari Challenges Wife, Aisha, Others To Come Forward With Prove Of Cabal Influence O

President Muhammadu Buhari has responded to the allegation of Aisha, his wife, that his government has been hijacked by a cabal who are now running the presidency.

President Buhari and wife, Aisha

President Muhammadu Buhari has challenged his wife, Aisha, to prove the existence of a cabal that she claimed is in control of his administration, PREMIUM TIMES reports.

The president’s wife had in an interview with the BBC in 2016 threatened to withdraw support for her husband if he chose to seek re-election unless he shakes up his cabinet and includes more people who worked for his success in 2015.

Mrs Buhari said although the victory of the APC in 2015 ”was a collective effort of millions of people” she said ”only for us to find out that the government is being operated by a few people”.

While addressing a gathering of APC women in Abuja recently, Mrs Buhari accused Nigerians of allowing two or three unnamed persons to “cage” her husband, thereby limiting his ability to perform.

Mrs Buhari, known for her intermittent fiery public rebuke of her husband, said although over 15 million Nigerians voted for Mr Buhari in 2015, “only two or three persons have since taken control of the government”.

She did not name the individuals or elaborate on her claims.

The president responded to his wife in an interview with the Hausa service of the Voice of America shared on Tuesday.

Reminded that his wife and others have consistently claimed the existence of a cabal running his government, Buhari simply said:”that is her business”, adding ”It means everyone is free to say whatever they like. Irrespective of whatever they say they should come out with proof of what the cabal has forced me to do.”

The President went ahead to say the fact that people including his wife make such claims proves his democratic credentials, and challenged those making allegations that a cabal is in charge of his government to substantiate their claims.

“Have you heard of the word cabal? People have been alleging that there are some few people in charge of this administration, that you are not the one in charge. Even your wife said something about this recently, what do you have to say about this?” the journalist asked him.

Responding, Buhari said: “That’s her business… This shows I am a real democrat… What they are saying is different from what is happening. They should come out and say those things they feel was staged managed by the cabal. What the cabal force to me to do. They should mention just one thing.”

The short video released by the VOA is a teaser. The whole interview is expected to be aired soon.

A report by SaharaReportersrevealed that the insurgents laid siege on the remote village of Mbolakel, some six kilometres away from Chibok town, at about 11:45pm on Christmas Day, injuring at least three persons and burning down the whole village.

Chibok residents said the deafening sound of gunshots roused them from sleep and the smoke could still be seen from distance hours after.

"The heavy gunshots woke us up,"one, who simply identified himself as Musa, said. “We saw the flames from faraway. Early this morning, we went to the Mbolakel Village; it was burnt down, three wounded, there was no loss of lives.”

Three days ago, suspected insurgents attacked Makalama community, also near Chibok, and razed some houses.

Why We Are Slow In Fighting Corruption – Buhari
Wednesday, December 26, 2018  NEW

                          [Image: Why-we-are-slow-in-fighting-corruption-b...C338&ssl=1]
President Muhammadu Buhari says his administration is slow in fighting corruption because the system is slow.

The president said this when he received the Federal Capital Territory community, who paid him Christmas homage at his official residence on Tuesday in Abuja.

President Buhari, who apparently was reacting to those allegedly accusing his administration of being too slow in tackling the nation’s challenges, including `endemic corruption’ in the society, said: “It’s not Baba (Buhari) that is slow but it is the system.

“So, I am going by this system and I hope we will make it.”

The president announced that he would soon embark on aggressive campaign for the 2019 Presidential Election, saying that the campaign would start with visits to each of the six geo-political zones of the country.

According to him, the three areas of focus with which he campaigned in 2015 are still very relevant today, adding that he will continue to focus on the fight against corruption, tackling insecurity and improving the economy.

“We are watching the Independent National Electoral Commission very seriously and we are going out very soon; we will go from geo-political zone to geo-political zone, to remind the people of our promises in 2015.

“These three fundamental things include security, because you have to secure the country before you can govern it and talking about what we have done regarding securing the country, the people of the North-east know better.

“The three fundamental things we campaigned with are still very relevant.

“On improving the economy, which we are still going to explore, we have done well in agriculture, and those who embraced farming are not regretting it and we have also addressed unemployment and we are very lucky, through that we are now attaining food security.

“The third thing with which we will campaign is the issue of corruption.

“I told you what I did when I was in uniform but now when I have to go by this system (Democracy,) where people have to be arrested and then prosecuted, taken to court and then with evidence, we will collect back what they had taken illegally and for doing that, people are calling me Baba go slow.

“I am going slowly but whatever the case, I will not stop pointing fingers at those who have abused trust by taking money that does not belong to them.

“I will keep on trying to do my best for this country and get back what belongs to the country.”

Buhari's Government Has Failed Nigerians - Saraki
Wednesday, December 26, 2018  politics

Senate President Bukola Saraki, on Tuesday, December 25, said times are very hard for Nigerians as a result of the level of poverty in the country. The Senate president also claimed that the All Progressives Congress and the present government has failed Nigerians.
Saraki said this on a live programme aired by four radio stations: Radio Nigeria (Harmony FM) Idofian, Royal FM, Sobi FM and Radio Kwara.
Saraki said: “Times are very hard for the masses as a result of the level of poverty in the country.
“Without sentiment, the present government has failed Nigerians. They must therefore ensure they vote for a leader that will address poverty and revive the economy.
“Nigerians will vote in February 2019 but the business community has already passed a vote of no confidence in this present government."
“I therefore urge Nigerians to vote out this government and vote a man (Atiku) that will restore investors’ confidence and get Nigeria working again. It is only one party that loves the common people and that is our party, the PDP.
“I am in politics to serve my people. When I campaigned in 2015, I pledged to Nigerians that my former party, APC, will address the issues of insecurity, unemployment and poverty but unfortunately the party has failed on all these three scorelines.
“I thank God Almighty for the position that was given to Kwara as the number three citizen.
“We have cut across our zonal intervention projects in the state which wasn’t possible in the first four years as a floor member at the 7th Senate because ranking members add more value to the community/constituency.”
The president of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to direct the release Deji Adeyanju and ensure that his fundamental human rights are not continuously abused by the police.
Adeyanju was rearrested by the police on Monday, December 4 after he was earlier released and has been in detention since then.

If The System Was Working Before 2015, You'd Be In Jail - Buhari Replies Atiku
User Avatar Forum: News

@POLITICSNGR

Below is a statement from the Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organization made available to PoliticsNGR;

Our attention has been drawn to a statement credited to the Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar disputing the assertion by President Muhammadu Buhari that the system in Nigeria allows corruption to thrive because the system is slow in tackling corruption. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar further blamed President Muhammadu Buhari for perceived failure in addressing some instances of ‘corrupt practices’ under his watch.

Let us remind Alhaji Atiku Abubakar that he is one of the greatest beneficiaries of the failed system in tackling corruption that was in place before President Muhammadu Buhari took over in 2015. We know he is aware of this, hence his latest diatribe against President Muhammadu Buhari amounts to nothing but disgusting grandstanding and an attempt to mock the system.

If the system in Nigeria was indeed working, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar would not have acquired substantial shares in INTELS in clear conflict of his duties as a Customs Officer whilst in office. Those shares would have belonged to the Nigerian people by now.

If the system in Nigeria was indeed working, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar would not have run a monopolistic company called INTELS all these years, ripping off the Nigerian people and the Nigerian State before Muhammadu Buhari came and broke that monopoly.

If the system was working, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar would have been prosecuted and jailed for various acts of corruption and abuse of office after he left office as Vice President, some of which are:

(a) For himself and his boss, President Olusegun Obasanjo, granting themselves licenses to build universities as President and Vice President whilst in office in clear breach of the Code of Conduct for Public Officers. Those Universities would have been probed, seized and transferred to the Nigeria State and the Nigerian people by now.

(b) Laundering slush funds to the United States of America using phony companies, part of which was used to fund his present American University in Adamawa State through which he is also extorting Nigerians through exorbitant fees. It is public knowledge that this indictment is contained in a US Congressional Report that has led to the prosecution and conviction of his accomplices in the US, which are William Jefferson and Siemens. They were convicted under a system that works, whilst he has been walking free in Nigeria and even aspiring to the highest office in the land. It is also public knowledge that his ban from entering the United States was as a result of these indictments.

© His indictment and recommendation for prosecution by the Report of the EFCC over the PTDF scandal whilst he was Vice President.

We have also read with keen interest the case filed against Alhaji Atiku Abubakar by some public spirited Nigerians alleging that he never paid his Personal Income Taxes as at when due, yet he wants to ‘get Nigeria working again’. In this regard, we are also challenging Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to publicly display his Personal Income Tax receipts for the 3 years preceding 2018 to show that he did not just run to FIRS in 2018 to pay his backlog of Personal Income Taxes.

For the information of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, President Muhammadu Buhari’s gallant efforts in tackling corruption headlong has led to the conviction of the President’s own party men and ex Governors who served under PDP and for acts they committed whilst in PDP. 703 persons and institutions have been convicted by the EFCC under the watch of President Muhammadu Buhari since 2015. The biggest recoveries of stolen public funds in the history of Nigeria are being carried out by President Muhammadu Buhari. These recoveries were made from principally his party men who now wish to lead Nigeria with him. Some of these recoveries/seizures/forfeitures (interim and final) are:

(a) 407 Mansions since 2015.
(b) N794 Billion, over $261 Million Dollars, 1.1 Million Pounds Sterling, 8.1 Million Euros,
© 259 Automobiles.
(d) A fully functional hospital, St. Solomon Health Care Centre at 24, Adeniyi Jones Street, Ikeja Lagos e.t.c.

There are so many other instances too numerous to mention. These are a world apart from the few instances of the reluctant fight against corruption that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar claimed happened under his watch as Vice President. During his time, there was a competition for corruption between himself, his boss and public officers.

We also urge the PDP to stop making wild, unsubstantiated allegations of corruption without a modicum of proof. We have no time to respond to any allegation by the PDP without the backing of some kind of document or proof. When we see some scintilla of proof, we shall respond appropriately. And that is how we have treated the recent allegation of acquisition of shares in Etisalat and Keystone Bank by some supposed ‘family members’ of the President. No name was mentioned and no document was shown.

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar latest adventure in trying to stand shoulder-to-shoulder in matters of integrity with President Muhammadu Buhari is a political suicide mission from which we thought his handlers would have tried to steer him away. But alas! They have decided to test the waters. Locally and internationally President Muhammadu Buhari stands several miles away from Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in matters of integrity. When the President used all his life in public office building a reputation and a name, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar used all his life in public office to build mansions and acquire personal wealth. Now Judgment Day has come when the credentials needed by the Nigerian people for the highest office are not the buildings and wealth but the simple quality of integrity.

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar cannot eat his cake and have it.

Buhari Family Owns Etisalat And Keystone Bank - Atiku Alleges, Calls For Probe
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 12-27-2018, 01:27 AM - No Replies

If this is true the Buhari has questions to answer

Quote:Atiku calls for investigation into allegations President Buhari’s family members co-own Etisalat Nigeria, Keystone Bank

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party has demanded a probe into the ownership of Etisalat Nigeria and Keystone Bank.

Mr Abubakar, in a statement by a spokesperson, Phrank Shaibu, said the call was necessary “in view of reports that members of President Muhammadu Buhari’s family now own substantial share in Etisalat Nigeria which has an estimated $2 billion (about N727 billion at 360 per dollar) of its estimated $20 billion global net worth.”

Read Mr Shaibu’s full statement sent to PREMIUM TIMES below.

The Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has called on the appropriate authorities to urgently institute a probe to unravel the hidden faces behind the new ownership structure of multi-billion naira telecoms giant, Etisalat Nigeria, as well as Keystone Bank.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, the Special Assistant to Atiku on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, said such a probe was necessary in view of reports that members of President Muhammadu Buhari’s family now own substantial share in Etisalat Nigeria which has an estimated $2 billion (about N727 billion at 360 per dollar) of its estimated $20 billion global net worth.

Atiku also expressed shock at reports from unimpeachable sources that the first family now plays big in the nation’s financial sector after acquiring mouthwatering shares in Keystone Bank with total assets of $1.916 billion (equivalent to N307.5 billion) as well as purchasing about ₦3 billion worth of shares in the new Pakistani Islamic Bank.

“I know that last week was turbulent for President Buhari and I apologise for adding to his woes, but as he is insistent on the myth that he is spotless and anti-corrupt, If this is found to be true, this scandal would break every rule of corporate and public governance, since this will be the first time members of the first family will be openly involved in a once-in-a-lifetime deal that would make them all richer beyond their wildest dreams,” the statement said.

The accusation is coming amidst reported allegations in the media that the All Progressives Congress (APC) led federal government plans to use billions of Naira from the Anchor Borrowers Programme allocated by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for farmers, using imaginary donations from 12 million farmers as a façade.

But the presidential candidate of the PDP advised President Buhari to shun the use of state resources and machinery for the upcoming 2019 presidential poll.

Specifically, Atiku said no farmer contributed any N1.7billion for Buhari’s re-election campaign, warning that APC’s decision to use monies meant for farmers to run his campaign is not tidy at all.

“The other day, a man who scored 15,424,921 votes to win the 2015 general election was reported to have been nominated by 14 million APC members at the Presidential primaries for 2019. Now, over 12 million farmers have donated to his campaign. Are they indirectly spewing out outrageous figures of people they intend to claim voted for them in the coming elections? Could that be why the President was flashing an occult double four hand signal that has gone viral? What did the hand signal mean? Does it mean that the President has jettisoned the idea of a free and fair election and telling Nigerians that no matter how they vote, he will return for a second term of four years? In any case , if the farmers who just took a loan through the borrowers anchor programme and have not liquidated the facility can donate this huge sum or any sum for that matter, it means the ‘Association of widows and children of all those slain by Boko Haram and herdsmen will donate N5billion to the Buhari campaign. In fact, the 23.1 million youth who lost their jobs between 2016 till date will donate about N12billion to the Buhari campaign.”

“Assuming but not even conceding that such a huge sum of money was donated to President Buhari by Nigerian farmers as his handlers would want Nigerians to believe, wouldn’t such donation be in contravention of Section 91 (9)of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) which says no individual or other entity shall donate more than N1m to an aspirant or a candidate,” Atiku said.

Section 91 (2) of the Electoral Act further states that a presidential candidate can spend a maximum of N1billion.

The law also recommends a fine of N1m or a prison term of 12months or both for any candidate that breaches the provisions of the Act.

‘We have no stand on whether or not President Buhari should run for office. That is his prerogative and that of his party. But we believe it is improper for public office holders to forcefully loot public funds, on behalf of a sitting president seeking a second term in office.

‘’What this means is that there is a ‘war chest’ which apparently is from the national coffers,’’ Atiku said.

He said if President Buhari wants to run for office next year, he should take only from monies sourced from donations by his campaign groups that are independent of government.

‘’Anything short of that – as is currently the case with the use of funds from the CBN meant for farmers will mean there will be no level playing field for all the candidates billed to contest for the presidency during next year’s presidential elections,’’ Atiku said.

Fuel Subsidy: How NNPC Incurred Over N623bn Cost In 2018
User Avatar Forum: Oil/Gas
Posted by: Edoman - 12-26-2018, 08:38 PM - No Replies

The Nigerian government incurred N623.17 billion on petroleum products supply under-recovery cost between January and November this year, a summary of the monthly estimates of the expenditure by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has shown.

The document obtained by PREMIUM TIMES was part of details of NNPC financial operations submitted to the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) during its monthly funds’ allocation meeting in Abuja last week for November 2018.

Details of the costs included under-recovery under the direct sale-direct purchase (DSDP) refining arrangement between January and November as well as the local refining cost between January and September this year.

The document dated December 19, 2018, showed that cumulative outstanding under-recovery cost brought forward from 2017 stood at about N78.4 billion, with arrears of about N67.23 billion, while total reimbursement or FAAC deduction was about N676.49 billion for the period under review.

Of the N676.49 billion, about N599.7 billion was incurred as under-recovery under the DSDP arrangement, while about N23.4 billion was under-recovered from the operations of the four local refineries in Warri, Port Harcourt, and Kaduna.

Under-recovery is the name coined by the NNPC to represent the amount of subsidy the corporation incurs on behalf of the federal government for the importation and supply of petroleum products at a landing cost above the official retail pump price of N145 per litre of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol.

Similarly, the DSDP arrangement involves direct purchase by accredited oil marketers of a portion of the 445,000 barrels of crude oil usually allocated for domestic refining allocation. The volume purchased is meant to be refined abroad, while refined petroleum products are brought into the country for consumption.

The DSDP arrangement was introduced in 2016 to replace the controversial swap arrangement adopted by the previous government as a result of the poor refining capacity of the four local refineries.

A review of the document submitted to the FAAC showed that showed that about N51.3 billion was incurred as under-recovery cost in January, while February, March, and April recorded N58.7 billion, N36.1 billion, and N82.4 billion respectively.

In May, the document showed the cost under-recovery on PMS by NNPC dropped to about N36.9billion, before increasing to about N53.4 billion in June, N52.4 billion in July and N63.2 billion in August.

Again, the amount incurred as under-recovery by the corporation rose to N71.8 billion in September before dropping to N51.2 billion and N65.9 billion in October and November respectively.

Further details from the document revealed that the cost of under-recovery incurred by the NNPC was deducted from its revenue every month before transferring the balance to the federation account for distribution among the three tiers of government.

Details showed, about N45.8 billion was deducted in January; N59.5 billion in February; March, N34.03 billion; April, N77.9 billion; May, N88.9 billion; June, N68.6 billion; July, N52.5 billion; August, N60.6 billion; September, N71.6 billion; October N51.2 billion and November N65.86 billion.

The issue of fuel subsidy and cost under-recovery by NNPC has remained contentious since the present administration announced at inception in 2015, the removal of subsidy from the pricing template petrol.

With the continuous rise of the crude oil price at the international market, there was a direct impact on retail prices for refined petroleum products, particularly petrol

The NNPC, which emerged the sole importer and supplier of petroleum products, reported increased cost of operation, in terms of the difference between landing cost for imported petroleum products and the government approved ceiling retail pump price of N145 per litre.

Last March, the NNPC said it was losing as much as N774 million daily on under-recovery due to increased supply and consumption of petrol in the country.

The corporation said it was soaking up the cost as part of its operational cost as the supplier of last resort and denied receiving any support or assistance from the government.

On October 16, the Senate accused the NNPC of operating a secret $3.5 billion subsidy recovery fund with the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari, without the consent of the National Assembly.

On November 5, PREMIUM TIMES exclusively reported how the NNPC illegally took $1.05 billion (N378 billion at N360 to a dollar) from the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) dividend funds to secretly fund subsidy payment on petroleum products.

The Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Maikanti Baru, later admitted to the Senate the withdrawal of the money from the account but said it followed presidential directives.

Consequently, the Senate directed its committee on gas to investigate the allegation.

Headed by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Gas, Bassey Akpan, the committee was mandated to look at the operations of the Nigeria LNG account from 2015 to date.

On November 15, the committee reported it had uncovered another illegal withdrawal of about $1.15 billion by the NNPC from the NLNG account.

On December 9, the NNPC threatened to seek a legal interpretation on whether it had the right to withdraw funds from the Nigeria LNG Dividend Account without the approval of the National Assembly.

Some of Buhari’s poor relatives have become billionaires – Galadima
User Avatar Forum: News

Tobi Aworinde, Abuja

A spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party presidential campaign, Buba Galadima, has accused the administration of
President Muhammadu Buhari of illegitimately enriching some of the President’s relatives.
Galadima, who spoke on Sunrise Daily, a live programme on Channels Television, on Wednesday, alleged that some individuals close to Buhari, who were poor in 2015 when the President assumed office had somehow become owners of choice houses in the President’s hometown of Daura, Katsina State.

The PDP campaign spokesperson made the accusation while engaging in a debate with an All Progressives Congress member, Senator Ayo Arise, who had faulted the amendment process of the Electoral Act.
Arise, who is also a former Senator representing Ekiti North Senatorial District, said, “If the President says, ‘I will allow a free and fair election, there is the propensity for people to trust him more than the other candidate in this country that is currently running because he has demonstrated it times without number that he has integrity.

“For me, that is what I see in the President and that is why I am one of the strongest supporters and believers in him.”
But Galadima stated that the President had not shown any sign of integrity, adding that several of Buhari’s relatives had become significantly wealthier in the time he has been president.
The PDP campaign spokesperson said, “I can’t see any integrity whatsoever on the side of Mr President. Which integrity? Somebody who condones corrupt people around him. We know of his relatives. We know of his friends who were bankrupt before 2015.

“We know of his relatives who took N2,000 transport money from us to go to Kaduna. Today, they are multibillionaires. They have assets all over the world. They have estates all over the world. I can show anybody that wants to know. So, the issue of integrity with this government is not an issue.

“So, please, I don’t want any All Progressives Congress man to talk to me about integrity. This should be the last time anybody engaging me in a debate would talk about integrity; I will take them to the marketplace.”

JUST IN: 190 policemen abscond from counter-insurgency training

Adelani Adepegba, Abuja
The Force Headquarters has ordered the arrest and prosecution of 190 riot policemen who absconded from the ongoing training at the Special Forces School, Buni-Yadi, Yobe State.
The fleeing policemen were part of the 2,000 Police Mobile Officers mobilised for the training preparatory to their deployment for combat against Boko Haram insurgents in the North-East.

They were deployed by the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, about three weeks ago for purely military duties under the ‘Operation Lafiya Dole.’
The Police authorities had argued that the deployment of the men was consistent with Section 4 of the Police Act and Regulations, which allows them to perform such military duties both within and outside Nigeria as may be required of them.

A soldier identified as Sammy fighting Boko Haram took to Facebook to share how he survived Boko Haram attack on the eve of Christmas.According to him,his wrist got dislocated during the attack. He wrote...

'This is one of the most AMAZING CHRISTMAS I ever had! We fought through 23rd to 24th which happen to be Christmas eve and last night the war got so hot that we have to withdraw and leave the camp to the enemies cuz they where toooo many and were trying to round us up to the center (ask my bestie FAITH MICHAEL, SHE WAS IN A WHATSAPP CALL WITH ME WHEN IT ALL STARTED AND SHE HEARD MOST OF THE GUN FIRE and BOMBARDMENTS). Right now my wrist is dislocated and I'm feeling sick. We slept in the cold bush as we watch the boko haram burned down our camp again for the 3rd time in  two months. Taday, none among us even remembered it's Christmas until a Fulani man came by and said HAFI KRISMAS SOJOJI! And Instead of saying "same to u baba" we all burst out laughing out loud and some cried cuz none of us even remembered it's Christmas, comon, it doesn't even look like Christmas here! and that was the only time we laughed today.and after the laughter we all went silent as we sobber deep within ourselves and recount the number of times God saved us from our enemies. The very reason He kept us alive to see this day. I thought about many things, the way it would have been if I am among the ones dead last night. How my family will feel loosing a son few hours to Christmas. My thoughts were so deep that even tears rolled down my check and all I keep saying from then is THANK U JESUS FOR NOT BRINGING ANY TRAGEDY TO MY FAMILY. Meanwhile, I'm still looking round maybe I'll find a bush rat to kill to at least cover up for this Christmas flexing I'm missing out (gat to make myself happy no matter the condition, u know). I WANNA WISH U ALL OUT THERE A WONDERFUL MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A PEACEFUL NEW YEAR AHEAD!!! But pls, bring meat and chin chin to me here oooooo.lol.AND DON'T STOP PRAYING FOR US ON THE OTHER SIDE OF A PEACEFUL WORLD'

A Christmas tragedy which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday (yesterday) has left residents of Rivers state in pains and lament.

It was gathered that a fire outbreak caused by a fallen petroleum tanker killed at least four persons and consumed apartments and shops around MOPOL-nineteen, G.R.A Phase Four, Port Harcourt, the state capital.

The petroleum tanker, which fell around Rumuola, had spilled its content into the drain extending from Rumuola to MOPOL-nineteen.

A witness said the four victims were family members who were unable to flee like other residents who survived the fire. Several houses and property worth millions of naira were destroyed, while several others suffered different degrees of burns and were rushed to the hospital by the officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

Those affected by the inferno that destroyed houses and shops around Rumuola and MOPOL-nineteen area of Port Harcourt blamed slow response of the Rivers state Fire Service for the level of damage done by the fire.
