Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai has spoken against the manipulation of religion and ethnicity for political interests by the elites in the country.
The governor, who is seeking reelection under the banner of the All Progressives Congress, said the choice of Dr Hadiza Balarabe as his running mate for the March 2nd governorship poll was “influenced by considerations of competence, developing the state and pulling the talents of the women”.
El-Rufai was quoted by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Samuel Aruwan, to have stated these as a guest on a Hausa programme, ‘Hannu Dayawa’ on the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Kaduna, on Saturday.
The governor said people in their businesses, travels and daily lives, look for those who could give them results, not the faith of the person. He said, “our action was not predicated on religion or ethnicity but getting a deputy governor that suits our quest for a better Kaduna State.”
Quote:The governor added, “you are sick and in dire need of life. When you are rushed to hospital, what do you need? Life or the religion of the doctor? Life is what you need and you will not waste time on the religion and the ethnic background of the doctor.[size=undefined]
When you are flying, do you care about the religion or the ethnic background of the pilot or a safe flight? It’s the same thing with business and investment. You hire those who can make your investment profitable.”

El-Rufai's litany of failures and lies in Kaduna state: Only 50 out of the numerous in the book of record.
1. He promised not to touch local government funds but ended up monopolising it for two years.
2. He promised to conduct Local Government elections but spent two years with sole administrators.
3. He promised to build a five star hotel in Kaduna two years there's nothing.
4. He promised to build a shoprite shopping mall at galaxy park and he is yet to even lay a foundation.
5. He promised to build a light rail system in Kaduna and nothing to show for it.
6. He promised to build 2,000 housing units, he is yet to finish the 100 blocks of flat he invited VP to commission over a year ago.
7. He dug up culvert and drainage system inside Kaduna and abandoned them midway.
8. He started a school feeding program with fanfare and has since suspended the program.
9. He cuts salaries of civil servants at will and owe salaries for over a year in some cases among teachers.
10. He is yet to complete even one bedroom flat for Kaduna people but he is selling over 2,000 Government houses to his families and friends in Lagos.
11. He has not paid student scholarship for over a year.
12. He has not paid NYSC coppers serving in his state since he took office.
13. Traditional rulers in the state have not been paid salaries for close to two years.
14. He retrenched over 8,000 civil servants and without paying them their entitlements.
15. He sold the Legislative Quarters built by Governor Makarfi to assembly members at give away price to cage them.
16. He appointed Chairman of Kaduna State APC who is not recognised by the national secretariat of the Party.
17. He demolished the house of the National Vice Chairman of the Party because he disagreed with him.
18. He sacked a university lecturer in Kaduna State University because he is critical of him.
19. He arrest and jailed 3 Kaduna based journalists because they wrote stories critical of him.
21. He is yet to tell the people of Kaduna what he has collected from Paris refund and what he has done with it.
23. He continually humiliates the Emir of Zaria by inviting that of Kano to official functions in Kaduna state.
24. Public hospital in Kaduna state including the one close to the Government House (Yusuf Dantshoho
hospital) are without drugs, without equipment or adequate doctors. Anyone can visit to see.
25. He promised to send his children to public schools and two years he is yet to.
26. He claimed to drive away beggars and hawkers in Kaduna city and yet they are everywhere everyone can see.
27. He spent over 200million for musical jamboree in a state where public schools are in shambles.
28. He wants to sell all the 30 state owned industries established by Balarabe Musa in just two years and his own is yet to take off.
29. Under El-Rufai Kaduna trade fair recorded zero presence of investors.
30. He chatter planes to events in other states at the expense of Kaduna state tax payers.
31. He diverted Kaduna state money to revive the moribond telecom firm of his brother Intercellular.
32. He pays some Kaduna journalists to cover his propaganda and exaggerate his achievements. He keeps Channels TV, Nation, Punch and National mirror
correspondents to mislead the public and give false impression of him.
33. He is the only state Governor in the orth West that is at war with all the three senators from his state.
34. He is the only state Governor in the North West with factions in his political party.
35. El-Rufai gives out contracts from his table and the state tenders board is rendered idle.
36. He has destroyed the state civil service with his inexperience.
37. He siphoned Kaduna money through consultancy from people unknown in the state.
38. He accused the national assembly of
disrespecting the Party while he is keeping a State Party Chairman not recognised by the Party at the national Secretariat.
39. Stashes money for his presidential campaign in the name of joint projects with UBA and Zenith Bank.
40. Kaduna Government account is yet to be audited since he took office.
41. He removed many traditional rulers.
42. He sacked about 22,000 teachers after blackmailing them.
43. He sacked over 4,0000 Local Government workers
44. He demolished so many houses and left the areas desolate thereby providing a hideout for hoodlums.
45. He has consistently harassed the over 3,500 houses of the residents of Gbagyi Villa (the only 100% Christian community in Kaduna) with demolition threat and when the community took him to court and secures interlocutory injunction, he vowed not to obey court order.
46. The only governor in the history of Nigeria with about 32 different court cases (including injunction) taken against him by the people of his state that he is supposed to be at peace with.
47. Fulani Herdsmen had destroyed more villages and more precious lives under his watch than ever in the history of Kaduna.
48. He paid Fulani Herdsmen for killing Southern Kaduna people and boldly declared it in public and the Fulani became more ferocious than ever before having acquired more weapons.
49. His people had stoned him several times even as a sitting governor.
50. The only governor that has entertained the world with 'WWE slapper and the slappest" between him and his deputy only to revive in the hospital.
This is El-Rufa'i of Kaduna state.
Please how does El-Rufai and his supporters sleep at night?
