Nigerian singer Koker blasts R.Kelly for celebrating birthday

As Surviving R Kelly the docu-series that exposed the singer’s year of sexual assault continues to generate reactions, R Kelly himself seems unbothered by the allegations as he was seen partying on his 52nd birthday few days ago.

[Image: Nigerian-singer-Koker-blasts-R.Kelly-for...news-2.jpg]
“It’s my motherfucking birthday and I don’t give a fuck what’s happening tonight” he said.

Reacting to his nonchalant attitude, Nigerian singer, Koker described him as insensitive saying,

R Kelly has to be totally insensitive to have celebrated his birthday at the night club despite the overwhelming evidence of these sexual assault allegations against him… I’m disgusted’.

[Image: Meet-Lauren-Sanchez-the-lady-behind-Jeff...00x400.jpg]
The news of Jeff Bezos divorce from his wife MacKenzie turned a lot of heads, partly due to the fact that they have been together for 25 years, and also cause the divorce is going to be expensive for the world’s richest man.
Their divorce could take away a sizeable chunk of the tech tycoon’s estimated $137 billion fortune.
At first glance, it was an amicable divorce. But there is always no smoke without fire.
Things took a dramatic turn when reports claimed that Bezos was having a secret affair with Lauren Sanchez, who is an estranged wife of a Hollywood mogul.

Lauren Sanchez short biography and all you need to know about her
Lauren Wendy Sánchez was born December 19, 1969. She is an Emmy Award winning American news anchor, entertainment reporter, media personality, actress, producer, pilot and entrepreneur.

Sanchez is a frequent guest host on The View, former co-host on KTTV Fox-11’s Good Day LA, the station’s Ten o’clock News, as well as anchor and special correspondent on Extra. Sánchez has also been a regular contributor on shows including Larry King LiveThe Joy Behar Show and Showbiz Tonight.
Lauren Sanchez is married to Hollywood talent mogul Patrick Whitesell since 2005, though their relationship is said to have hit the rocks.

Sanchez and Whitesell have two children together: daughter, Ella, and son, Evan. Sanchez has another son from an earlier relationship.
Bezos and Sanchez got to know each other through her husband. The trio were even photographed together at a party for Manchester by the Sea, which was produced by Matt Damon and distributed by Bezos’s Amazon, back in 2016. She was reportedly also hired to film aerial shots for Bezos’s company Blue Origin.
According to a New York daily, Sanchez and Whitesell separated in the fall, and she and Bezos “became closer” afterwards.
The news website claimed the affair carried on in “private jets, swanky limos, helicopter rides, romantic hikes, five-star hotel hideaways, intimate dinner dates and quality time in hidden love nests”.

I love you so much you complete me and I can’t wait for you to officially be my wife.

Lady Gaga has vowed to never sing with R Kelly again following the release of his #SurvivingRKelly documentary in which he was accused of sexual abuse by many.
[Image: Lady-Gaga-vows-to-never-sing-with-R-Kell...00x400.jpg]
She made this known on her Twitter page hours ago, adding that she stands by all the women who have suffered in the hands of R.Kelly.
“I stand behind these women 1000%, believe them, know they are suffering and in pain, and feel strongly that their voices should be heard and taken seriously,” Gaga wrote

She further talked about the idea behind the song she made with R.Kelly (Do What U Want With My Body) which according to her was released at a point in her life when she was angry still trying to process a sexual assault trauma she was going through.

She concluded by saying that she would be taking down the song she made with R.Kelly from iTunes and every other platform.

“As a victim of sexual assault myself, I made both the song and the video at a dark time in my life, my intention was to create something extremely defiant and provocative because I was angry and still hadn’t processed the trauma that had occurred in my own life.”
She ultimately confesses that, “I can’t go back, but I can go forward and continue to support women, men, and people of all sexual identities, and of all races who are victims of sexual assault.” In an attempt to make those steps, she concludes that she plans to remove the collaboration from all streaming services and that she “will not be working with him again.” She added

Jose Mourinho has secured a new job since being sacked as Manchester United coach after joining BeIN Sports as a TV pundit.

[Image: Jose-Mourinho-secures-new-job-after-Man-...00x400.jpg]
This was made known on Thursday that Jose will be an analyst for Chelsea’s Premier League trip to Arsenal on January 19 as well as Qatar and Saudi Arabia’s Asian Cup group-stage tie on January 17 on the Qatari channel’s broadcasts in the Middle East and North Africa.
The Portuguese was sacked by Manchester United in December after the club’s worst start to a season since 1990 and won three trophies during his two-and-a-half year tenure at Old Trafford.

“Jose is one of the greatest football managers of all time, and we hope that his expert analysis and charismatic personality will be enjoyed by our millions of viewers,” a beIN spokesman said in a statement.

Jose Mourinho had been linked with a return to former club Benfica after the Lisbon giants fired coach Rui Vitoria last week, but the 55-year-old told Correio da Manha earlier on Thursday that he would not take the job.

“I don’t have any intention of coming back to work in Portugal,” he told the newspaper. “I’m fine at the moment.”

Surviving R.Kelly My dad is a monster – R.Kelly’s daughter says
The musician, who was born by Andrea Lee, took to her Instagram Stories to talk about her father’s sex abuse scandal in a lengthy post.
[Image: Surviving-R.Kelly-My-dad-is-a-monster-R....09x410.jpg]
She wrote:

Buku here. I just want to say a few things… Before I start I just want it to be known that I am speaking from the heart, nothing I say or do not say is to hurt ANY party reading this or affected by this.
To the people that feel I should be speaking up/against everything that is going on right now. I just want you all to understand that devastated is an understatement for all that I feel currently.
I do apologize if my silence to all that is happening comes off as careless.  That is my last intention. I pray for all the families & women who have been affected by my father’s actions. Trust, I have been deeply affected by all of this.

However, It has been very difficult to process it all. Let alone gather all the right words to express everything I feel.
Anyone that knows me personally or has been following me throughout the years knows that I do not have a relationship with my father. Nor do I speak on him or on his behalf. I also am not fond of dealing with my personal issues or personal life through social media but, I feel things are starting to get out of hand.
Unfortunately, for my own personal reasonings & for all my family has endured in regards to him, his life decisions and his last name, it has been years since my siblings and I have seen or have spoken to him.
In regards to my mother, she for the same reasonings and more, has not seen or spoken to my father in years. My mother, siblings and I would never condone, support or be a part of ANYTHING negative he has done and or continues to do in his life.

Going through all I have gone through in my life, I would never want anyone to feel the pain I have felt.
Reminders of how terrible my father is, and how we should be speaking up against him, rude comments about my family, fabricating me, my siblings & our mothers ‘part’ etc. Does not help my family (Me, my sister, my brother, and my mother) in our healing process. Nor does it allow a safe space for other victims who are scared to speak up, speak up.
The same monster you all confronting me about is my father.
I am well aware of who and what he is.  I grew up in that house. My choice to not speak on him and what he does is for my peace of mind. My emotional state. And for MY healing. I have to do & move in a manner that is best for me. I pray anyone who reads this understands I put nothing but good intent behind each word.

Buku added that it took her “nearly 3 days to write this.”

She continued:
I just want everyone to know that I do care and I love you all. This is a very difficult subject to speak on… again, I apologize if my words don’t come out right…
To everyone who reached out to my family and I, sending good energy and love…Thank you. You guys really helped push us through this hard time. This past year for my family has been very difficult, all the love and support you all continue to show is why we keep going. You all fuel us.
Family, friends, followers, fans, etc… I love you guys to pieces. Your love is appreciated & always will be.

Journalist arrested, remanded in Ikoyi Prison for wearing dreadlocks

A photojournalist identified as Yinka Badmus is reportedly being remanded in Ikoyi Prison, Lagos, for wearing dreadlocks.
According to reports, Badmus was allegedly arrested by policemen attached to the Lagos State Anti-Cultism unit for wearing dreadlocks, which the officers allegedly said made him look like a cultist.

Journalist arrested, remanded in Ikoyi Prison for wearing dreadlocks

According to Vanguard, Yinka was arrested while eating noodles, at Pedro Bus Stop, Gbagada on December 30th 2018. He was detained and was not allowed to contact his relatives or friends.
Yinka’s plight was brought to his family’s notice on January 3rd 2019 by a detainee who left the police cell.  The detainee contacted Badmus’ relatives explaining to them that he had already spent three days in detention, contravening the stipulated instruction that every suspect must be charged within 24 hours.
His family members then contacted Yinka’s boss, Stephen Oguntoyibo, the owner of Talk Village International, to help secure his bail.

[Image: Journalist-arrested-remanded-in-Ikoyi-Pr...51x410.png]
It was gathered that when Stephen Oguntoyibo went to bail Badmus at the station, he was shocked to see the Police conveying him and other young men in a Black Maria to Ogudu Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, where he was eventually arraigned and remanded.

”At the Ogudu Magistrate’s Court, the resident judge asked that Badmus be granted bail and a lawyer in the magistrate court was attached to us. The lawyer subsequently requested for the following: means of ID proof, house rent receipt, NEPA bill, company ID and tax payment receipts for two years.
He also received N10,000 and later the lawyer demanded another N20,000 for his service, with a promise that he would have a meeting with the judge and, thereby, effect Badmus’s release. On Tuesday, I called the lawyer with the intention of submitting the requested documents, so the boy can be released.

The lawyer, again, demanded another N25,000 for bail bond, and also made me know that I would have to pay police for verification and other processes. Meanwhile, the boy has been remanded in Ikoyi Prison.”Oguntoyinbo said

National Coordinator of the Network for Police Reforms in Nigeria, Okechukwu Nwanguma, who has also been alerted over the case, wondered where it was a crime for anyone to wear dreadlocks.

“The Police officer was quoted as saying the guy was arrested because of his hairstyle. Where in the law is a hairstyle a crime? And why did the Police officer go ahead to charge him? Since he was granted bail, why did the lawyer keep making financial demands from the surety, including money for the Police to go and verify the surety’s residence? Isn’t that unbecoming of a lawyer? The innocent guy is languishing in prison, reported to be very sick, all because of a lawyer’s greed.” he said

Saraki’s Loyalists In Federal Executive Positions To Be Sacked, Says Lai Mohamme
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 01-11-2019, 04:03 PM - No Replies

Quote:The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, says some of the loyalists of the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, holding federal executive positions will soon be shown the way out.

The Minister disclosed this yesterday in Ilorin, Kwara State, at a ceremony organised by the Kwara All Progressives Congress (APC) to sensitise and mobilise the party’s women leaders ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that thousands of Kwara APC women, who turned up at the event, were lectured on their roles and expectations during the general elections.

The minister said despite Saraki’s use of his position to sabotage national development to the detriment of the people, his loyalists from Kwara were still occupying executive positions.

He said the federal government would not hesitate to sack those beneficiaries in executive positions.

‘‘Some of the people they nominated to the boards of government’s agencies and parastatals are still there, yet they claim that Kwara has not benefitted from this federal government.

‘‘These people, some of whom are holding executive positions, will soon be shown the way out,’’ he said.

Mohammed said Kwara elections, like that of the general poll, would be issue-based devoid of ethnicity, religion or gender.

He said the issues the APC is concerned with in Kwara have to do with good governance and better life for the people.

The minister alleged that 40 years of the over five decades of the creation of Kwara, the Saraki family had cornered the state’s commonwealth.

‘‘The main issues here have to do with how our state has been governed in the past 50 years, 40 of which have been dominated by a single family.

‘‘What has happened to the commonwealth, which has been cornered by a single dynasty at the expense of the people.

‘‘Where are the roads and other infrastructure to justify the huge resources that have accrued to the state?

‘‘If you follow a path for so long, and it leads you nowhere, won’t you try another path? These are the issues,’’ he said.

The minister stressed that the 40 years of the Saraki’s family in power, the state has no potable water for people to drink, adding that workers had been pauperised because of non-payment of their salaries.

He said the Saraki dynasty in Kwara had rendered the quality of life of the people to the lowest point.

On the contrary, the minister said the APC in its campaign had been proudly showcasing what the federal government had achieved since assuming office in 2015.

‘‘Ask them who tarred the Ilorin-Jebba-Mokwa road that they (PDP) took to Bode Saadu, where they launched their campaign a few days ago.

‘‘That road was impassable during the time of the PDP, the same party they are now touting as the one with the magic wand,’’ he said.

Mohammed said contrary to the lies of the opposition, PDP, President Muhammadu Buhari was not the reason the states had not performed.

He said: “Ask them what they did with the several bailouts they received from the Federal Government.

‘‘Ask them why they could not pay workers’ salaries despite getting bailouts and Paris Club refund; they claim they are helping the state to offset workers salaries.

‘‘Remind them that they are only returning some of the commonwealth they have looted. They are only doing so out of panic.’’

The minister also said the claim by the opposition that the APC would take Kwara to South-west zone was incorrect.

Earlier, the Kwara APC Women Leader, Hajiya Rahmat Okin-Abolaji, underscored the importance of mobilising women ahead of the polls considering their statistics in the nation’s population.

She alleged that women had been marginalised in Kwara politics and expressed the confidence that the APC would change the situation after winning the election.

The women leader also tasked the women to come out in their numbers to vote for the APC in order to liberate the state from decades of poor governance.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a suit that sought to void the July 20, 2018 governorship primary of the All Progressives Party (APC) in Osun State.

The state’s incumbent Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola won the primary and proceeded to win the governorship election held on September 22 and 27 last year.

In a judgment on Friday, Justice Inyang Edem Ekwo held that the plaintiff, Kunle Rasheed Adegoke, could not prove his claim that the primary was held in violation of relevant laws

Adegoke, who came a distant 8th in the primary, filed the suit marked: FHC/ABJ/ CS/804/2018, in which he argued among others, that the primary was not held in compliance with the relevant provisions of the country’s Constitution, the Electoral Act, the constitution of the APC and its guidelines for the conduct of primaries.

Adegoke prayed the court to, among others, nullify the primary on the grounds that it was allegedly conducted in violation of the relevant laws.

Also, the Osun State Governorship Election Tribunal, sitting in Apo, Abuja has struck out the petition by Jumoke Lawal and her party, the National Rescue Movement.

The petitioners had queried the legality of the governorship election on ground of alleged unlawful exclusion.

In a ruling on Friday, the tribunal, led by Justice Ibrahim Sirajo, struck out the petition after peteitioners’ lawyer, Oluwole Adja applied to withdraw it.

The tribunal awarded N50,000 cost against the petitioners.

Nigerian Soldiers Kill Boko Haram Terrorists, Retake Baga (Photos)
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 01-11-2019, 01:04 PM - No Replies

Special Forces of the Nigeria Army on Thursday killed hundreds of Boko Haram terrorists in massive clearance operations in Borno State.

The troops made up of Nigerian Army Special Forces, the Nigerian Navy Special Forces as well as the Nigerian Air Force Special Forces however lost an officer and a soldier during the clearance operations.

According to the Nigerian Army Spokesman, Brig. Gen Sani Usman, the operations which commenced on December 28, cleared several towns and villages of Boko Haram remnants.

Usman, in a statement, listed towns cleared as Zare, Gudumbali, Kukawa, and Cross Kauwa while troops have also taken control of Baga and are clearing the fringes of Lake Chad.

He lauded the troops for their gallantry in giving the terrorists a bloody nose, saying the Air Task Force of Operation Lafiya Dole also gave maximum air support in dealing a devastating blow on the terrorists.

Brig Gen. Usman said: “In the determined efforts to wipe out remnants of Boko Haram terrorists that now goes by the appellation of Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP), the gallant troops of the newly formed Nigerian Army Special Forces Command (NASFC), Operation LAFIYA DOLE, have given the terrorists that attacked troops location in Baga a bloody nose.

“The triumphant troops, particularly the highly revered 707 Special Forces Brigade which is the vanguard of the great exploit, dealt the decisive blow that neutralised several terrorists along that axis despite prior warning to them by some unpatriotic elements.

“The Special Forces commenced clearance operations on 28th December 2018, where they cleared Zare, Gudumbali, Kukawa and Cross Kauwa without any resistance from suspected terrorists. However, at Cross Kauwa, the unfortunate ISWAP terrorists made a costly mistake of raising their ugly heads.

“In professional fashion the troops exploited the situation to instantly and decisively neutralise the insurgents and captured some equipment.

“Though some of the terrorists attempted to infiltrate troops camp at Monguno, the gallant troops lured them and neutralised many of them and recovered some arms and ammunition.

“The troops who are in high spirit had since linked up with other forces in Baga where they cleared the Naval Base and the surrounding areas.

“Unfortunately, in the process, the Special Forces lost one officer and a soldier, while five other soldiers sustained injuries.

“The remains of the two fallen heroes and the wounded have since been evacuated.

“The injured soldiers are in stable condition and receiving medical attention.

“The troops are busy consolidating and clearing vestiges of the terrorists within the northern Borno State axis with special emphasis on the Lake Chad region.”

Big Brother Naija 2019 Holds After Elections And Inaugurations

Posted by: Edoman - 01-11-2019, 01:02 PM - No Replies

The highly anticipated 2019 edition of Big Brother Naija will hold after the February general elections, according to new reports.

The last edition of Big Brother Naija reality show was in January 2018, but the organizers decided to pause this year's edition because of the 2019 election coming up next month.

It has now been reportedly confirmed by a source at Payporte (the official sponsors of the reality show), that,

'Big Brother will still hold but because its a political year, we can't really control to what extent what the housemates will say in the house and we don't want it to become a tool that will heat up the polity'.

The source went on to add that,

'the show itself normally gets twisted so we don't want to mix it up with politics in anyway. Its supposed to be entertaining, we wouldn't want it to be divisive in anyway. If you notice, no religious activity gets discussed in the house too, if you want to pray you can pray, we don't want anyone to be forced to do it or divide Nigerians along those lines. So after the elections and inaugurations, it'll happen'.

Recall that the last edition wrapped up in April 2018 with Miracle Ikechukwu emerging winner of the hotly contested reality show.

Buhari To Campaign In 36 States, Says He Will Win
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 01-11-2019, 01:01 PM - No Replies

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has set out campaign plans that will see President Muhammadu Buhari visiting all the 36 states of the federation with a grand finale rally in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

Akelicious gathered from presidency sources at the strategy and inaugural meeting of the party’s presidential campaign council, held at the Presidential Villa Thursday that the party has scheduled its national campaigns to last for 18 days commencing on January 12.

“The next stage of presidential campaign has been scheduled to begin next Saturday, January 12 in Bauchi.

“The plan is for the president to campaign in all the 36 states, though some states will be paired so as to conclude the tour in 18 days,” a source said.

The meeting, which was presided over by the president, who assured the participant he was sure of victory at the February 16 poll, was, however, not attended by any of the party’s governors that are members of the council.

But the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Malam Lanre Isa-Onilu, quickly dispelled claims that the governors’ absence was a sign of worsening crisis in the party, explaining that being an administrative meeting, the presence of the state chief executives was not mandatory.

According to a Akelicious source, however, the meeting dwelt mainly on campaign schedules and strategies to adopt in order to cover all the states in view of the time constraint.

He said Bauchi and Gombe States would be the next port of call for the APC presidential campaign train, which would hold on Saturday.

It was learnt that Buhari and top leaders of APC would be using the Bauchi campaign rally to formally receive former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, into the ruling party.
The source explained that the campaign schedule was drawn up in such a way that the president would visit some of the states in pairs.

For instance, the source said that the president would campaign in Rivers and Bayelsa States in one day.
Other states likely to be paired include, Ebonyi and Cross River, Enugu and Anambra, Kogi and Benue.
The ruling party had earlier said that it would unleash an intensive national campaign in the New Year that would take it into the general elections.

Impeachment: Ambode, Lagos Lawmakers Disagree On 2019 Budget
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 01-11-2019, 12:57 PM - No Replies

Quote:The Lagos State House of Assembly on Thursday said Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode must appear before it and properly present the 2019 Appropriation Bill in line with legislative procedure and constitution.

This resolution followed observations raised at its sitting, after the Clerk of the House, Mr Azeez Sanni, read a correspondence from Ambode on the presentation of Year 2019 Budget.

Sanni said that Ambode’s letter on presentation of Year 2019 Appropriation Bill, dated Dec. 17, 2018, was received on Dec. 28, 2018.

Raising an observation on the correspondence, Mr Yinka Ogundimu, the Chairman, House Committee on Finance, said that Ambode had not properly presented the budget.

Ogundimu, who noted that the House delayed it December break to receive the budget, said that the procedure of Ambode’s presentation of budget totally deviated from the norms of the House.

According to him, the House’s intention was to receive the budget before the short break.

He urged the House to address the issue.

“It is in the habit of this house to always go on break in December, which we purposely delayed for a while before we went on that short time break.

“Our intention was to really receive the budget and go on a short break and come back to treat the budget, but the budget was never received from the governor until we went on holidays.

“The letter came on Dec. 28, about three days to the New Year; there was nothing this House could do.

“This is a new dimension to receive correspondence of this nature at this time.

“We have a tradition that the Governor will come around and lay the budget before that House.

“We look at that whole process and it deviates from the norms and procedure of the House,’’ Ogundimu said.

He said that his observation as Chairman, House Committee on Finance became necessary to address the confusion surrounding the 2019 budget presentation.

“We are not the delaying the budget. The normal thing is for the governor to present the budget,’’ he said.

Earlier, Mr Lanre Ogunyemi, the Chairman, House Committee on Education, said that the correspondence of the governor could not be considered as budget presentation.

Ogunyemi said that the House sacrificed the six week recess for two weeks to receive the budget which never came till the House went on break.

“Now, the constitution is very clear that the budget must be laid before the House, and let nobody embrace the impression that this House is not alive to its responsibilities; we have always been very committed.

“Even if the governor brought it on Dec. 28, the second reading cannot come until January, if it is assumed that the governor’s presentation was the first reading.

“If the governor has not come, there is nothing the House can do. The House has always been responsible and alive to all its responsibilities,’’ he said.

Other lawmakers took turns to say that the governor had deviated from the tradition of the state, reiterating that the House had not abdicated its responsibilities.

The Majority Leader of the House, Mr Sanai Agunbiade, said that the constitution mandated the governor to lay the budget before the House before the end of the financial year.

“It should be laid before the House of Assembly; it is a document that the governor should speak to. So, this procedure must commence.

“Budget of the state must be laid properly in line with the legislative procedure and constitution –Section 121. The House is ready to work anytime.

“It is clear that we were ready to work on the budget before the Christmas break, but we could not work on it because we did not get it in time,’’ he said.

Agunbaide urged the House to handle the situation “in a usual family way and relate appropriately to make sure that the executive gets the procedure’’.

The Speaker of the House, Mr Mudashiru Obasa, commended the lawmakers for being mature in their reactions to the development.

“This is not the time for resentment, acrimony and agitation.

“We must have at the back of our minds that we have a stake that is beyond May 29.

“We must do everything possible to sustain and to hold in high esteem what is called government, party and people of Lagos, though those who have a very short stake can afford to do anything they like, even in the name of budget presentation.

“You have all shed light on the issue in a mature manner,” he said

The speaker said that the house went on break on Dec. 18, 2018 and thee first call he received on the budget was on Dec. 24.

This, he said, was on the willingness of the executive to present the budget on Dec. 24, while the lawmakers had proceeded on short break.

“We normally go on break for six weeks, but we went on break for two weeks in recognition of the fact that there might be need to receive the budget,’’ he emphasised.

According to him, there is no reason to shift the blame on the House that it refused to receive the budget.

“People were already in the mood of New Year celebration when the letter came on Dec. 28.

“We are always ready and there is no reason for us to reject the budget when it is done properly and when the executive is ready to present it.

“The essence of coming here is to do this job and we are representing the interest of our people, and we will always do that.

“So, there is no fault at the doorstep of the Assembly.

“We have a huge stake and we must protect that. We have no resentment, we have no bad blood. We are ready to receive that budget when the executive is ready.

“The head of the executive must be ready to come and perform his constitutional responsibility and we are also ready to receive him,’’ Obasa said.

He said that nobody else could present the budget according to section 121 of the constitution except the governor.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that there had been claims in some quarters that the House refused to work on the state budget presented by Ambode.

FG To Borrow N823b Through Treasury Bills In First Quarter 2019
User Avatar Forum: Market Place
Posted by: Edoman - 01-11-2019, 12:55 PM - No Replies

The federal government of Nigeria is set to borrow N823 billion from the domestic economy in the first quarter of the year 2019 (Q1’19) through treasury bills which will be issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The Apex bank disclosed this in its treasury bills (TB) issuance programme for Q1’19 which was released yesterday. The fresh TBs to be issued during the quarter comprise of N51.5 billion worth of 91-Days TBs, N164.9 billion worth of 182-Days TBs and N607.1 billion worth of 364-Days TBs.

The analysis of media giant Vanguard showed that from January 3rd to January 31st the CBN will issue N555.02 billion worth of TBs comprising N23.8 billion worth of 91-Days bills, N116.16 billion worth of 182-Days bills and N415.06 billion worth of 364-Days bills.

In February 2019, CBN will issue N268.7 billion worth of TBs comprising N27.8 billion worth of 91-Days bills, N48.8 billion worth of 182-Days bills and N192.1 billion worth of 364-Days bills.

But the amount of fresh TBs to be issued is N84.87 billion less than the N907.87 billion worth of TBs that will mature and also be repaid during the period, reflecting the FG’s decision to reduce domestic borrowing in favour of foreign borrowing.

The maturing TBs is made up of N59 billion worth of 91-Days TBs, N248.8 billion worth of 182-Days TBs and N678.1 billion worth of 364-Days TBs.

2019: South-east PDP Warns Against Sabotaging Atiku/obi •insists Obi Very Qualif
User Avatar Forum: News

The South-East Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed its strong support for the candidacy of Alhaji Abukakar Atiku and Mr. Peter Obi, warning those that are out to sabotage their efforts to beware of the wrath of the people.

Rising from the combined meeting of the Zonal and State Working Committees of the party in the party Secretariat at Enugu on Thursday, the Zonal Chairman of the party, Deacon Austin Umahi declared: “The South East PDP will aggressively give all their support to the victory of the party in the South-East.”

The Chairman said that the party was lucky to have two qualified candidates vying for the presidency. His words: “Alhaji Abubakar has verifiable records. Mr. Peter Obi’s performance in Anambra State is there for everybody to see. Nobody is more qualified than both of them among other presidential candidates.”

Advising other parties to keep-off the South East, Umahi said: “Hold me by my words. You will now see a different dance step that will tell other parties that they have no place in the South-East. Every stakeholder must go and deliver his polling booth.”

Appealing to all PDP members to join hands for the victor of the party, he said that now was not the time of “trafficating right and turning left”, declaring that “the PDP must get it right now.”

Corroborating the position of the Zonal Chairman, the Anambra State PDP Chairman, Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu, said it was now incumbent on all PDP members to put in all they have towards the success of the party in all the parts of the country.

Buhari Lacks Capacity To Fix Nigeria, Says Titi Abubakar
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 01-11-2019, 12:52 PM - No Replies

The wife of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hajiya Titi Atiku Abubakar, has asked the Nigerian electorate to vote out President Muhammadu Buhari in the February 16 election.

She said the president lacks the knowledge and capacity to meet the expectations of Nigerians.

Mrs. Abubakar who spoke yesterday in Abuja at an event with the theme: “Kick Out Hunger, Kick Out APC”, also said that Buhari lacked knowledge of the economy and should not be allowed by Nigerians to realise his second term ambition so as to avoid shutting down the country.

“The President himself, I don’t think he knows the economy. The government has devastated the economy and we must reorganise Nigeria by bringing in competent managers,” she said.

She said the All Progressives Congress (APC) has crippled the country’s economy and brought hunger and poverty to Nigeria, but assured that if elected, Atiku would “get Nigeria working again.”

She added, “We are going to get Nigeria working again; people are hungry. Hunger is causing many of our children to go into prostitution. It has become clear that the current political establishment has lost its way and Nigerians have to endure the epic disappointment.

“We want Amina Zakari out of that place so that everybody will be Atikulated. Why did Buhari refuse to sign the Electoral Act Amendment Bill into law? It is because of the rigging they want to do. But we should vote on that day and defend our votes; we must ensure our votes counted.

“We are flagging off a campaign on how women, especially those at the grassroots will vote during the elections.”

I Will Liberate Nigeria From Poverty, Economic Stagnation, Says Ezekwesili
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 01-11-2019, 12:50 PM - No Replies

The presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, has said that one of the reasons why she wants to be president is to liberate Nigerians from poverty and economic stagnation.

Ezekwesili made this promise while addressing market traders during her campaign at the popular Mararaba Market, in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, near Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

She said she was out to liberate Nigeria and its people through her ambition, from official corruption, poverty, economic stagnation among many other vices, she noted, had pervaded the country for long.

She called on the people to only vote for the candidates of APCM in the forthcoming general elections, saying it was the only party which manifesto had the interest of Nigerians at heart.

She explained that she chose the street campaign method in her presidential bid so as to afford her opportunity of directly meeting with the electorate with a view to knowing their problems preparatory to solving them when she assumes the office of the president.

The presidential candidate used the occasion to interact directly with some traders, who assured her that they will vote for her at the poll.

“I come here not only to formally inform you that I am running for the office of president but to also campaign and seek for your votes. I am doing this with a view to giving you a better life,” she told the traders who listened to her with rapt attention.”

Speaking to a group of young boys hawking wares in the market, she said they were not cut for such business. She added that when she becomes president, she will put all of you off from petty trading and set them up for better things.

“You are supposed to be pursuing your education at this level of your life because it is when you have gotten your education that you would have better choices in what you really desire and want for yourselves in life.

“I don’t want to be President so that I can enjoy myself, I want to be president because I care about the people of this country and because I want a better life for the men and women of this country,” Ezekwesili said.

The traders, many who said it was their first time to meet with the former World Bank Vice-President, trooped out in their hundreds, to listen to her as she addressed market men and women.

“I feel happy to watch her address us here today in this market. Before now, I had only seen her on the television or heard her on the radio speak on some issues in Nigeria.

“She is not only highly educated but also brilliant. From what I have seen in her so far, I believe strongly that she has the passion for Nigeria and if she can be given the opportunity to succeed in her aspiration, she would impact positively on the country and its people,” said a trader who identified herself as Mrs. Vivian Osakede.

A high court sitting in Ado Ekiti, on Monday, sentenced a retired Colonel, Oguboyo Richard to twenty five years imprisonment without option of fine. Ogunboyo, was charged for murder; he was alleged to have murdered one Felix Esan on the 15th of December 2016.

Ogunboyo, who was the head of vigilante group in Iyin-Ekiti at that time, left in company of some members of the group around 9.30PM for the compound of the deceased at No. 1 Alaafia House, Iyin to fish out a suspected thief.

The convict was said to have confronted Felix of being disrespectful and thus shot him in the presence of his friends in the room.

After the deceased was shot, the retired Colonel and members of the group with him allegedly ordered all other friends of the victim out of the house to a place where they were kept till the following morning for baseless offences.

On getting back to the compound in the following morning after their alleged illegal detection, the friends of the deceased said he could not be found whether dead or alive.

In an effort to uncover the mystery surrounding the incident, a search party led by Omo Edema was launched from Mercy-Babs Communications which led to the discovery of the decaying body of Felix about two weeks later in a pit in the bush along Awo road, Iyin-Ekiti.

In his judgement, Justice Lekan Ogunmoye said the case of murder against the convict could not be substantiated, but a case of manslaughter and therefore sentenced the 81-year-old retired military man to twenty five years in jail for killing Felix Esan.

“Considering his age and the discretion of the court, he is hereby sentenced to 25 years imprisonment without an option of fine,” Ogunmoye ruled.

The Niger State Police Command has apprehended one Ishaya David, 29, for allegedly killing his wife.

Ishaya was arrested by police detectives attached to the Gawu Babangida Division in the Gurara Local Government Area of the state.

The suspect, who hails from Sabon Kaida village in Gurara, was said to have killed his wife, Rifkatu David, 25, over allegations of promiscuity.

It was learnt that the suspect stabbed his wife to death for having an affair with her ex-boyfriend.

Northern City News gathered that the suspect had earlier cautioned his late wife to desist from relating with her ex-boyfriend, but she reportedly ignored the warning.

Narrating what led to the killing of Rifkatu on Thursday, Ishaya said, “I used a knife to kill her for her refusal to adhere to my instruction. I told her to desist from sleeping with men, but she boasted that nothing would happen, so, I lost my temper and stabbed her.”

The suspect further described the deceased as an unfaithful woman, who had no respect for her husband.

“My wife was stubborn; she never listened to me; I even sat her down and told her the implications of what she was doing, but she did not repent and she had to pay the supreme price,” he added.

The Command Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar, confirmed the incident, stating that the matter had been charged to court.

  *MARRY YOUR MATE*
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Gimbiya - 01-11-2019, 10:53 AM - No Replies

*MARRY YOUR MATE* By Kionionnia wit Apostle Joshua Selman.

*6 MATES YOU MUST MARRY*

One of the ways your marriage will not add to the rate of divorce in our world today is for you to marry your mate and if you are married already, make your spouse your mate!
You see that statement of ' Am I your mate?' does not apply in marriage. You must marry your mate. I will like to talk on seven dimensions you and the person you want to marry or you have married must be mate.

1. *MARRY_YOUR_SPEAKING_MATE* Marry someone you can speak together and understand each other. Communication is very crucial in marriage. Don't marry someone that, when you are saying 'A' he or she will be saying ' Z' Once there is dichotomy in your speaking and understanding level, you can't enjoy that marriage. So many men go to bar to hang out with friends and gist till 11pm because they know their wives can't engage in any meaningful intellectual discussion. So many women too prefer to hang out with their friends, because they know their husbands mentality when it comes to vital issues and discussions is very low. Marry your speaking Mate.

2. *MARRY_YOUR_SCHOOL_MATE*
By this I mean, marry someone you can learn together and improve together. Don't marry ' Mr Know all' or 'Miss Know all'. Don't marry someone who is rigid and not open to new ideas, new ways of doing things, or new innovations. Marriage is a great institution. From day one till death do you part, you will keep learning. Marry your 'school' mate; someone who is ready to learn with you.

3. *MARRY_YOUR_SPIRITUAL_MATE*: Marriage is not just a social union. It is also a spiritual union. Marry someone who knows the same God you know. Don't marry someone who's believe of God is different from yours. Two can't work together except they be agreed ( Amos 3:3, Joshua 23: 11-15, 2 Corinthians 6:14-18). The spiritual controls the physical, even in marriage. Check for spiritual compatibility in that person you want to marry.

4. *MARRY_YOUR_SPENDING_MATE* Don't marry someone who is stingy. There are so many expenses to cater for in marriage. A stingy guy in courtship won't suddenly become a generous husband in marriage. Don't marry a lady that has the financial philosophy of ' My husband's money is our money, but my money is my money'. Marry someone who believes in dignity of labour , who is ready to work, not a lazy fellow who just want to be a consumer and not a contributor. Marry someone who is ready to spend and be spent for the growth and success of the family.

5. *MARRY_YOUR_SEX_MATE* Marry someone you have sexual feelings for. Sexual feeling is not a sin. It is an instinct God put in every person. Sex plays a major role in the success of any marriage. Any man you don't have emotional feelings for, don't marry the person. If you don't have emotional feelings for that lady, leave her alone. A spiritual being is also a sexual being. No matter how spiritual you both may be in your marriage, you won't be praying for 24 hours in a day. You won't be reading the Bible or worshipping God 24/7. You will have sex! You will romance! You will flirt with each other! You will make babies. So, marry someone you can connect with sexually. It will help you to enjoy your marriage so much!

6. *MARRY_YOUR_SOCIAL_MATE*: Don't marry someone you won't be proud to go out with. Don't marry someone you will be feeling shy to introduce to people with boldness. Marry someone you are comfortable to hang out with. Marry someone you are socially compatible with. Don't marry an anti- social person.
You might be wondering if you can find all the 'mates' in one person. Yes! The answer is YES! You don't need to marry 6 guys/ladies to have all these mates. One person can be all that for you. If you also work on yourself and build your life, you can be all that for the guy/lady that will marry you.
The promise of God for you is this : 'Seek and read from the book of the LORD: Not one of these shall be missing; none shall be without her mate. For the mouth of the LORD has commanded, and his Spirit has gathered them.' (Isaiah 34:16).
Say it loud and clear ' I shall not lack a mate!'
I hope this blessed someone reading?

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

FRIDAY, 11TH JANUARY.

HE’S ALL THE POWER YOU NEED.

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth (Acts 1:8).

Some people teach that after you’re born again, you receive the Holy Spirit, and then you receive the anointing; but it’s not so. The anointing comes with the Holy Spirit. In the New Testament, we all have the same Holy Spirit, and the same anoin because the anointing we have is the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

The Bible says in Acts 10:38, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power…”; that’s the same Holy Spirit and power Jesus referred to in our opening verse. It’s the same power, and the same Holy Spirit that Jesus had that we also have today. So, when you have the Holy Spirit, you have all the power you need.

Luke 1:35 lets us into the dialogue between the angel Gabriel and Mary. The angel said to Mary, “…The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee….” Some have read this and ran off with the idea that the Spirit comes into you first, and then His power or anointing comes next, and they’re wrong. The two expressions point to the same thing. The power of the highest overshadowing her is as a result of the Holy Ghost coming upon her.

In the Old Testament, He “came upon” them; in the New Testament, He lives in us. That’s why Jesus said you shall receive power when the Holy Ghost comes, because the Holy Ghost comes with the power. He’s the power of God.
With the Holy Spirit, you don’t lack any power or ability; He’s your ability. He’s everything you need, and has everything you require to fulfil God’s purpose, and walk in His perfect will for your life.

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for the Holy Spirit who lives in me in His fulness, and has infused in me the grace and ability to live for you, and fulfil the glorious destiny you have for me. I’m invigorated with might, ability, power, excellence and wisdom to transform my world today, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Colossians 1:26-27 [Even] the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: 27 To whom God would make known what [is] the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

Micah 3:8 But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin.

#TALKINGSESSION

11TH JANUARY.

KINDLY SAY THIS WORDS OUT LOUD.
Dear Father, your Word is a light to my path and a lamp to my feet. Therefore, I will never walk in confusion or in the dark side of life. My steps in life are directed and ordered by you, through the Word and your Spirit. I am positioned in the right place and at the right time for your purpose.

I am full of might and ability of the Spirit, who leads me in a perpetual victory parade. I am like a tree planted by the waters, that spreads out her roots by the river. I don’t know when heat comes. I am prosperous and triumphant always in Christ Jesus! Hallelujah!

God bless you

I’m Confident Of Winning The Election, Says Buhari
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

President Muhammadu Buhari has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council to work hard as he is sure of victory in the February poll.

He made this call on Thursday at the inaugural meeting of the campaign council in Abuja.

Buhari, who gave an opening remark before the meeting went behind closed doors, charged members of the council to ensure victory for the party.

“I would like to appeal to you to dedicate and commit yourself once again to the task at hand. There is no doubt that victory is with us: it is ours, but that shouldn’t mean we should rest even for a moment,” he said.

“Even though we are confident of winning, I urge you to work as hard as you can so that we can maximize the scale and extent of our victory.

“I urge you to rise to the challenge of the great expectations this party and Nigerians have for you – and the confidence that I personally have in the ability of all of you to deliver.

“Needless to add, your selection was not easy, because in forming this council, the party settled only for the best. You are the cream of the party and I assure you that with the unity of purpose and effective harmony and communication, there is no political opponent you cannot overcome.”

Adams Oshiomhole, chairman of the party, said the APC governors who did not make the programme were busy campaigning in their various states.

“Because they are governors, they are governing their states. Don’t forget that elections are not defined in Abuja, it will take place in the 36 states and I’m sure there are APC members who are campaigning for the House of Assembly, various federal house and senate constituencies, governorship constituencies,” he said.

“So it will not be helpful to bring them to Abuja. Here it is about policies, it will consummated and translated to practice across the 36 states, 774 local governments and ward.”

He added that the key issue was to go through the programme of activities, calendar of campaigns, various interests group within the country, the business community, the youths, women, people with disabilities and various special interests groups.

He also said things have changed in the past three and half years as compared to the 16 year rule of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the president will have to visit each of the 36 states with this message.

Gov, El-rufai Is A Failure, He Hasn’t Achieved Anything – Sen. Shehu Sani
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 01-10-2019, 09:49 PM - No Replies

[Image: Senator-Shehu-Sani-and-Gov-Nasir-el-Rufai.jpg]

The Senator representing Kaduna Central at the National Assembly, Shehu Sani, has described the state Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, as “unpopular.”

Sani, who is contesting for the Senate on the People’s Redemption Party platform, also said the governor had not achieved anything since 2015.

The senator had dumped the All Progressives Congress for the PRP three days after he was denied the ticket to contest for the Senate on the APC platform.

His rift with the state governor was believed to have cost him the ticket.

Speaking on Nigeria 2019, an Arise TV programme on Thursday, Sani said the PRP was a major threat to the APC in Kaduna State, saying, “This is why every morning and evening, they destroy our billboards and tear our posters. They are persecuting our members. If we were inconsequential, they would have ignored us.”

Sani alleged that, the fact that “el-Rufai had a hand” in denying him the APC ticket didn’t mean anything.

He said, “The question is, can he win? The fact is that he is one of the most unpopular governors in the history of Kaduna State.

“The President (Muhammadu Buhari) has been to the state for many times, but how many times have you seen him inaugurating a project in the state?

“The first time the President went there, he was given a honorary degree from a university that had not started a PhD programme; the second time he was in the state was to inaugurate Olam, a company from Singapore.

“The third time was to inaugurate a project by the Ministry of Transport. So, he (el-Rufai) has not done anything and we are going to remove him out of power. That is a fact.”

The lawmaker explained that he and el-Rufai had always been at daggers drawn because of their differences both politically and ideologically.

He said, “Politically, he is a product of the establishment. Out of what they say is the 16-year tragedy of the Peoples Democratic Party, he spent 14 or 15 years there as a member, from the regime of (former President Olusegun) Obasanjo, where he held different positions. So, he was part of the system before he joined the APC.

“All my life, I have been a freedom fighter, that is, a human rights activist. Most of the years under military rule, I spent my time in prison. From this angle, you can see where we differ.”

Sani said the adoption of the Muslim-Muslim ticket by el-Rufai for the forthcoming governorship election in the state also showed that the governor “is arrogant and haughty.”

“For a governor of a state who came into office with a Muslim-Christian ticket now going for a second term and saying some people don’t matter, I don’t want to be associated with that kind of person, because all I know is that, with all his arrogance, haughtiness and egoism as a governor, power is ephemeral.

“There is a time he will be out of office and he will account for whatever he has done,” Sani stated.

Last year on the day that Bola Tinubu was appointed Chairman of the APC Reconciliation Commitee, he lost his first son. Three days ago, on the day that he was appointed Chairman of Buhari's Campaign Council, he slumped, collapsed and was rushed to the hospital where he remains till today.

Despite our political differences I love Bola Tinubu and I urge every Nigerian and particularly the Yoruba to pray for him. That God should preserve and protect him and make him understand His ways.

A 24-year-old man identified as Saliu Ladayo, who was arrested and sent to Olokuta prison in Akure, the Ondo State capital in 2018, for the alleged murder of his 19-year-old girlfriend, Nwamma Confidence Chidiebere, has refused to marry her corpse.

Ladayo allegedly stabbed Chidiebere to death last May, for calling him a ‘lazy youth. He later blamed the devil for his actions, saying he was under a spell when he killed the girl.

The family of the late Chidiebere had insisted that Ladayo marry her corpse, warning him that if he refuses to do so, his family members would not exceed her age at the time of her death.

“You must follow us to our state, Imo, where the wedding will be carried out like a normal wedding, with wedding gowns, rings and even the payment of bride price before she could be buried, “ the girl’s family had told him.

The suspect was said to have agreed initially to the traditional rites arrangement but later changed his mind, a family source said.

“He is a Yoruba boy and the Ibo culture is probably strange to him,” the source added.

According to the mother of the deceased, Mrs Lovelyn Nwamma, the parents of the boy, they learnt, live in Lagos, while the boy was until the incident lived with his uncle in Akure.

“We have asked them to bring money to perform the rites without them but they have not shown up, while the corpse of our daughter has been lying in the mortuary for eight months,” she said.

Senate President Bukola Saraki has alleged that there is massive fraud within the oil sector.

In an interview with Channels Television’s Seun Okinbaloye, the lawmaker said applying subsidy on assumption that Nigeria consumes fifty million litres (50million litres) of fuel a day, is fraudulent.

Saraki said in the Jonathan administration subsidy was based on an assumption that the nation consumes 30million litres of fuel daily.

He added that he and some other lawmakers warned that the Jonathan government was condoning corruption “by over importing fuel and because of that we were losing a lot of money”.

The Senate President said the present government instead of changing the process, jerked up the importation by 20 million litres extra.

He said, “you would have thought that a government that was to fight corruption and prevent leakages would even if you are going to continue subsidy, ensure that it is better managed.”

Saraki said there is no way Nigerians can consume 50million litres a day, “it is just money being stolen,” he alleged.

He further argued that there is almost no way that President Muhammadu Buhari is not aware of what is going on within his government, stressing that the Senate has investigated the issue but “we have an environment where agencies of government are emboldened to disregard the National Assembly, it is a big issue”.

The director general of the Atiku/PDP presidential campaign said the lawmakers have called for the inclusion of subsidy in the budget but that request has lingered for two years and President Buhari has only just agreed to bring it in.

He said, “This kind of decisions have led to leakages and this is the root of corruption”.

You can watch the full interview tonight at 7:30pm.

UN Withdraws Over 250 Aid Workers Over Increased Boko Haram Attacks
[Image: UN_aid_workers.jpg]
The United Nations (UN) who lamented over increased Boko Haram attacks in the North-East region of Nigeria, has withdrawn 260 aid workers.
The UN who lamented over the increased Boko Haram attacks which according to them has affected its humanitarian service delivery in the troubled region, added that more than 30,000 people had arrived in Maiduguri from Baga following the Boko Haram’s attack on the town.

United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Mr Edward Kallon, who released a statement confirmed that they have withdrawn 260 aid workers from the region, maintained that the upsurge in violence in the country’s North-East region that had caused tens of thousands of innocent civilians to flee their homes.

The statement read in part:

“Clashes on December 26, 2018, between Nigerian government forces and non-state armed groups in Baga town, on the shores of Lake Chad, about 200 kilometres north of state capital Maiduguri, triggered the massive displacement, with most women, men and children converging on already congested camps for internally displaced people in Maiduguri or Monguno town.

“A subsequent attempted attack on Monguno on December 28, 2018, has exacerbated the situation, generating further displacement.”

“30,000 internally displaced people have arrived in Maiduguri, mainly from Baga, in recent weeks. The majority of these people have arrived since December 20, 2018, often after arduous journeys with young children. These people include an estimated 20,000 internally displaced people who have arrived in Teachers Village camp in Maiduguri, stretching the camp’s capacity beyond the limit.

“Some 260 aid workers have been withdrawn from three local government areas (Monguno, Kala/Balge and Kukawa) affected by the conflict since November, affecting the delivery of humanitarian assistance to hundreds of thousands of people.”

Newport also reported that Kallon who visited Monguno and Teachers’ Village camp for internally displaced people in Maiduguri, said;

“The impact of the recent fighting on innocent civilians is devastating and has created a humanitarian tragedy.”

“It is heart-wrenching to see so many of these people living in congested camps, or sleeping outside with no shelter. Civilians continue to bear the brunt of the conflict and the United Nations is extremely concerned about the impact that violence in north-east Nigeria, especially in Borno State, is having on civilians.”

A 14-year-old and her 12-year-old sister were arrested for stabbing and shooting their mother to death — a brutal payback after they were punished for trying to run her over with the family car, neighbors and officials in Mississippi said.

The teen, Amariyona Hall, and her younger sister were taken into custody late Friday after deputies in Pike County responded to the family’s mobile home in Magnolia, where Erica Hall, a 32-year-old mother of four, was found stabbed multiple times and shot once in the chest with a handgun, authorities said.

Investigators zeroed in on Hall’s daughters, Pike County Sheriff Kenny Cotton told the McComb Enterprise Journal. They found out the daughters — two teenagers, juveniles — allegedly did it,” Cotton said, adding that both girls are scheduled for mental evaluations. “They’re charged with murder and we’re going to apply the law.”

Neighbors reports that Hall was killed days after taking away her daughters’ cellphones. It wasn’t clear if the mom took the phones away before or after her daughters allegedly tried to mow her down.

Cotton, meanwhile, said he couldn’t make sense of the alleged retribution killing. “I can’t imagine what’s going on inside their minds to process that,” he told the newspaper. “A mom is a mom no matter what.”

JAMB begins sale of 2019 UTME registration forms
Thursday, January 10, 2019  EDUCATION

                           [Image: l66UUQx8TTfHYgiZ7TlQkVx_UPvpi0AhcH25NQ5Y...9BIvZ=s0-d]
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) commenced sale of registration forms, for the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, today Thursday, January 10, 2019.

Sale of forms will last for six weeks.

JAMB’s Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has said the board will stop using cyber cafes for registration of candidates from this year.

He urged all prospective candidates to do their registration and access the board’s major services, in any of its 718 accredited centres in the country.

“We are no longer going to allow the cyber cafes to do the registration exercise for prospective candidates because they are extorting candidates and overcharging them.

“They also do services they do not have the capacity to do, coupled with the fact that there was no way of tracking them because they were not registered.

“Another major reason is the mix-up they create on the data of the candidates. Some will just ask the candidates to write their names and other details down for them.

“On accumulating such data, they now get all of them mixed-up, thereby creating problems for these candidates.

“We know there will be uproar because they make a lot of illegitimate money from these services, but we cannot leave the candidates at their mercy.

“Particularly when people will make noise that it is JAMB that was extorting them,” Oloyede said.

The 2019 UTME is scheduled to commence on March 16.

Act within Electoral Law, INEC Tells Security Agencies
Thursday, January 10, 2019  politics

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has urged the Nigerian Police and other security agencies in the country to adhere strictly to the provisions of the Electoral Act, and avoid giving Nigerians the impression that they have their separate security arrangements outside of those sanctioned by the commission.

In his regular consultative meeting of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Elections (ICCES) held yesterday in Abuja, INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, warned the security agencies against running parallel security arrangements to the commission’s, saying its security plans should be strictly implemented by the agencies.

Yakubu added that learning from the experiences of some of the 195 off-season elections conducted since 2015, that it was seeking a different approach to the deployment of security forces during elections.

Yakubu said, “Learning from the experiences of some of the 195 off-season elections conducted since 2015, it is pertinent to draw our attention to the need for a different approach to the deployment of security forces during elections. The Nigerian Police Force remains the lead agency for election security. Other security agencies will play a supportive role to the Nigerian Police.”

The chairman stated that the commission needs new security architecture in the general elections, consistent with the provision of Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended.

He stated, “Section 29(3) states, ‘Notwithstanding the provisions of any other law for purposes of securing the vote, the Commission shall be responsible for requesting for the deployment of relevant security personnel necessary for elections or by registrations of voters and shall assign them in a manner to be determined by the commission in consultation with the relevant security agencies – provided that the commission shall only request for the deployment of the Nigerian Armed Forces for protection of election materials and protection of election officials.’

“In particular, we are committed to ensuring the elections are organised in such a manner that security agencies are not perceived to be running parallel arrangement with INEC. Rather, it should strictly be INEC’s plan for the election that should be implemented.”

The chairman said the meeting was convened primarily to update members of ICCES on INEC’s preparations for the general elections, and also an opportunity to hear from the security agencies on their preparations so far.

He revealed that the commission had so far implemented 10 out of 14 activities on the timetable and schedule of activities for the election, adding that the four outstanding activities are the publication of the list of candidates, the submission of names of polling agents by political parties, the last day of campaign and the dates for the two categories of elections.

I’m most credible to fix insecurity – Gen. Useni
Thursday, January 10, 2019  NEW

General Jeremiah Useni (retd) is the former Military Governor of old Bendel State and ex-Minister of FCT. He is the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the March governorship election. He said he will spend one term to restore the deplorable security challenges in the state.

You have been governor and FCT Minister in the past, why are you contesting for the governorship of Plateau State?

It is because of the problem in the state that my colleagues, both the young and the old met me and said I should come and assist the state; it took me some time to agree to come and contest. I am running, not because I am looking for anything. Also, it is not the number of years that one will spend as governor that matter but how well you are able to contribute. I am going in strictly for one term.

The question people are asking is that, you have been a governor, minister and now a Senator, why are you going in for this office at this old age?

All these things you are saying happened during the military. I was a Military Governor for one year at the then Bendel State before I left to become Minister of Transport and Aviation, after then I became the minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) before I was retired. Since then, I have been in politics, sponsoring people into various positions but I later find out that most of the people I sponsored don’t do anything. What is happening in Plateau now is so frustrating and something urgent need to be done; and one way I can contribute properly is to go into the governorship race and win, that will give me the opportunity to work with the people, I am not going to work alone.

What I have noticed is that people try to work on their own, there is no way you can work on your own, and we will work collectively. The old people cannot work alone and the young people cannot work in isolation, we will need to work together as a team for us to be able to get some peace and without peace there will be no progress, without peace we cannot get people to come an invest. I have gone through some of these things before in Bendel because it was one of the areas that were most troublesome before, I believe if people will work and corporate with me, I will do same thing here if I win.

I will make contact, even when you are fighting a war, you don’t really go on fighting because you get arms, you should also have to be talking to people about peace and that is how you get peace. Not just fighting and shooting because you have more firing power, then you think you will get peace. You can win a war and still not have peace; there are a lot of things we can do to get peace in Plateau and North Central.

Are you not satisfied with the way Governor Simon Lalong is handling issues of peace in the state?

Are you? You are a journalists, are you satisfied? You used to write it for us, are you? The governor doesn’t stay here, with the problem with have; he is expected to stay here in Jos and get closer to people. See the way he was dealt with when he decided to go round and visit IDPs, they stoned him, there must be a reason why the people attacked him, and he must have done something to annoy the people.

Imagine when the president visited Plateau and spent the night here and he was telling the president that everything was smooth, that since his assumption of office here there has been peace. For three years now, we never had Local Government election, and he said there is peace. That night at the dinner, they were killing people in Bokkos, so why do you lie? Why not say the truth so that the president can help.

A lot of people think that you should have played a fatherly role, having occupied several prominent positions in the country in the past. What is your take?

Since I have been moving round canvassing for votes, I have visited all the local government areas now, none of those local government said I am old or they don’t want old people. They said I am the most experienced among them, and that the situation in Plateau does not need inexperienced person who will come and start looking for wealth. I told the people that if you look at the Bible, were

Moses young before God made him leader, or was Joshua young?

In Malaysia, a 92 year old man was sworn in as Prime Minister, I don’t know why some people are bent on talking about age. If an old man is useless then he should be seen as useless but not me, it can happen to a young man too because there are some who are useless. There are things old people can do young ones cannot do and there are things young people can do, old people cannot do, there is need for us to work together as a team.

I Will Pay The N30,000 Minimum Wage If Elected says Hon. Razaq Atunwa
Thursday, January 10, 2019  politics

The current agitation by the Nigeria Labour Congress and its affiliated unions for N30,000 minimum wage has been lingering for the past one year.

It is somewhat disheartening that this issue has been allowed to drag on for this long with the resultant negative effect on the average worker who is struggling to make ends meet. Whilst it is understandable that any responsible Government must balance the competing demands on its resources, it must be understood that the Government as an employer of labour must adequately remunerate its workers.

It is my firm belief that every worker deserves to earn a decent wage which will accommodate his basic needs in life. Every employee should be able to afford to look after himself and his family without resorting to unnecessary borrowing or begging. The minimum wage must be a ‘living wage’.

We are all aware that the cost of living in Nigeria has quadrupled since 2015. Cost of basic food items, fuel, transportation, housing etc have skyrocketed. However, wages have remain stagnant in the same period.

Accordingly, I have no hesitation whatsoever in saying that if elected into office as Governor of Kwara State in 2019, I shall adopt and pay the N30,000 minimum wage.
In addition, I will committed to workers welfare and working conditions.

I have always believed that every worker must earn a dignifying wage. I was a leading member of the Kwara State Government negotiating team that recommended that Kwara State Government should implement the N18,000 minimum wage.

Given the cost of living indices in Nigeria of today, paying the minimum wage is the only proper thing to do.

ASUU Strike: NANS Blasts Lecturers After Agreement With FG

Following the agreement between Federal Government and lecturers, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has asked the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), to suspend the ongoing strike.

On Monday, January 7, 2019, the Federal Government reached an agreement with ASUU leaders in a meeting held in Abuja.

According to the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, who was also at the meeting, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved N20billion, to offset the outstanding arrears of the 2009 to 2012 verified earnings in the universities.

Ngige added that earned allowances will be released to ASUU as soon as the process is completed.

Despite the agreement between both parties, ASUU president, Prof Biodun Ogunyemi, while speaking with journalist after the meeting said the strike would not be called off.

Ogunyemi said the strike could only be called off after the union’s NEC meeting. He however, did not state when the meeting will hold.

NANS has now urged ASUU to call off the strike having reached an agreement with the government.

In a statement on Tuesday signed by the NANS president, Comrade Bamidele Akpan, the student body accused the lecturers of not pursuing the interest of Nigerian students.

Hope Rises for 2019 Budget, Oil Price Rebounds to $60
Thursday, January 10, 2019  BUSINESS

Hope for the implementation of the 2019 budget was rekindled yesterday as crude oil price climbed around three per cent to rebound to $60 per barrel.

This followed the extension of talks between the United States and China in Beijing, which raised hopes that the world’s two largest economies would resolve their trade standoff.

The United States West Texas Intermediate (WTI) traded at $51.36 per barrel, up $1.58, or 3.17 per cent, the first time this year that WTI has topped $50.

Reuters reported that the international Brent crude rose by $1.63, or 2.78 per cent, at $60.35 per barrel.

Brent price hit last year’s high of $86 in October, a development that encouraged the federal government to predicate this year’s budget on oil price of $60, against the $50 per barrel oil price benchmark proposed in the Economic Recovery Growth Plan (ERGP).

The federal government also predicated the budget on the production of 2.3 million barrels per day of crude oil.

Also N305 was proposed as exchange rate to the dollar.

But before the presentation of the budget to the National Assembly, oil price dropped to $48, raising fears on the capacity of the federal government to fund the budget.

However, with the efforts by the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to reduce the excess inventory in the market, oil price rose by 12 per cent in December.

Both crude price benchmarks added to Tuesday’s two per cent gains and have now been on the rise for eight straight days – their longest rally since June 2017.

The trade talks in Beijing were carried over into an unscheduled third day yesterday, amid signs of progress on issues including purchases of US farm and energy commodities and increased US access to China’s markets.

“Talks with China are going very well!” United States President Donald Trump tweeted, without elaborating. State newspaper, China Daily said yesterday that Beijing was keen to put an end to its trade dispute with the United States, but that any agreement must involve compromise on both sides.

The World Bank expects global economic growth to slow to 2.9 per cent in 2019 from three per cent in 2018, it said in a semi-annual report released late on Tuesday.

More fundamentally, oil prices have been receiving support from supply cuts started at the end of 2018 by the OPEC and allies including Russia.

The OPEC-led cuts are aimed at reining in an emerging supply overhang, in part because U.S. crude output surged by around 2 million barrels per day (bpd) in 2018 to a record 11.7 million bpd.

However, US crude stocks fell less than expected last week, while gasoline and distillate inventories rose more than expected, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) said yesterday.

Distillate stockpiles, which include diesel and heating oil, rose by 10.6 million barrels, more than five times the expected 1.9 million-barrel increase, the EIA data showed.

World Bank projects 2.2% GDP growth for Nigeria in 2019
Thursday, January 10, 2019  BUSINESS

Nigeria’s real GDP growth will expand by 2.2 per cent in 2019, the World Bank said in its annual Global Economic Prospects published on Wednesday, thus slightly upgrading the country’s projected growth rate from 2.1 per cent in June 2018.

According to the bank, growth in Sub-Saharan Africa would accelerate to 3.4 per cent in 2019, due to improved investment in large economies coupled with continued robust growth in non-resource intensive countries.

“Per capita growth is forecast to remain well below the long-term average in many countries, yielding little progress in poverty reduction.

“Growth in Nigeria is expected to rise to 2.2 per cent in 2019, assuming that oil production will recover and a slow improvement in private demand will constrain growth in the non-oil industrial sector.

“Angola is forecast to grow at 2.9 per cent in 2019 as its oil sector recovers with new oil fields coming on stream and reforms bolster the business environment.

“South Africa is projected to accelerate modestly to a 1.3 per cent pace, amid constraints on domestic demand and limited government spending,” the bank said.

On the risk to the region’s growth, the World Bank stated that escalated trade tensions between the United States and China could impact negatively on the region.

“Faster than-expected normalisation of advanced-economy monetary policy could result in sharp reductions in capital inflows, higher financing costs and abrupt exchange-rate depreciation.

“Increased reliance on foreign currency borrowing has heightened refinancing and interest rate risk in debtor countries,” the noted. The bank added that domestic risks, in particular, remained elevated, that political uncertainty and a concurrent weakening of economic reforms could continue to weigh on the economic outlook in many countries.

“In countries like Mozambique, Nigeria, and South Africa holding elections in 2019, domestic political considerations could undermine the commitments needed to rein in fiscal deficits, especially where public debt levels are high and rising.

The bank downgraded global economic growth from 3 per cent in 2018 to 2.9 per cent in 2019 due to trade tensions, rising borrowing costs and persistent policy uncertainties.

*Rhapsody Of Realities

*SPIRITUAL INSIGHT .*

Thursday, January 10th .

_*[For I always pray to] the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory that He may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation [of insight into mysteries and secrets] in the deep and intimate knowledge of Him (Ephesians 1:17 AMPC).*_

Something beautiful transpired in John 20:21-22, after the resurrection of Jesus. While His disciples were in a room, He came in among them and the Bible says He _*“…breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost.”*_ Luke 24:45 gave us a clearer insight into what Jesus actually did to the disciples; it says, _*“Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures.”*_

He granted them spiritual insight. Suddenly, they understood why Christ had to suffer, and the glory that was to be revealed. Prior to that time, He had shared the same thoughts with them, but they didn’t quite get it. Peter, for one, rebuked Him when He said He would have to be crucified on the Cross. But after He opened their understanding, they became spiritually enlightened! They had insight.

Insight means clear, deep, and usually sudden understanding and perception of a situation, subject, or mystery. It’s one of the many blessings of having the Holy Spirit in you: He gives you insight into mysteries and secrets. He grants you unusual perception and understanding of the inner workings of things, their compositions, functionalities, etc.
There’re certain things that would have been difficult for you to understand, but because of the ministry of the Holy Spirit in your life, the intricacies of those things are unveiled to you. You can always trust Him for insightful knowledge that gives skill, understanding, and great amplitude of comprehension.

*PRAYER*

*Dear Father, you’ve granted me the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of you; the eyes of my understanding are flooded with light to know and walk in your perfect will. I have skill, discernment, rare understanding, and function with the spirit of excellence, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||

* *Ephesians 1:17-18* That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, *||*

* *2 Timothy 2:7 AMPC* Think over these things I am saying [understand them and grasp their application], for the Lord will grant you full insight and understanding in everything. *||*

10TH JANUARY.

KINDLY SAY THIS WORDS OUT LOUD.

Dear Father, I thank you because as Jesus is, so am I in this world. I have overcome the world, sin and the devil because I am born of the Word. My life is the life of God’s Word, and that makes me invincible and superhuman. Sickness, disease, lack and death have no place in me because I belong in

Credit to Private Sector Falls Marginally to N23.083tn
Thursday, January 10, 2019  BUSINESS

Banking sector credit to the private sector dropped slightly year-on-year by N55.7 billion to N23.083 trillion as of November 2018, from the N23.138 trillion it was at the end of October, 2018.

Also, net credit to government fell to N2.980 trillion as at the end of November, lower than the N3.756 trillion it was at the end of October 2018.

This was gathered from the latest Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) money and credit statistics for November 2018.

Also, narrow money supply (M1), which includes all physical monies such as coins and currency along with demand deposits and other assets held by the central bank dropped to N10.689 trillion at the end of the month under review, as against the N11.241 trillion recorded the previous month.

But currency-in-circulation increased in the review period to N2.100 trillion, compared with the N1.956 trillion it was the previous month.

The data showed that currency outside banks increased to N1.712 trillion as of the review month, up from the N1.602 trillion it was the previous month.

However, while Banks Reserves dropped to N4.306 trillion from the N5.028 trillion it was at the end of October 2018, Quasi Money, which are highly liquid assets other than cash, that can be quickly converted, stood at N14.775 trillion as at the review month, from N14.800 trillion.

In addition, demand deposits, which are funds held in an account from which deposited funds can be withdrawn at any time without any advance notice to the depository institution fell marginally from N9.640 trillion the previous month, to N8.978 trillion in the review month.

The credit statistics also revealed that CBN bills held by money holding sectors improved to N6.333 trillion, from N5.984 trillion the previous month. As part of efforts to encourage lending to the private sector, the CBN had introduced the real sector support facility (RSSF). The facility was expected to boost investment and provide low cost funding for businesses.

The activities covered under the scheme are Greenfield (new) and expansion (Brownfield) projects in manufacturing, agriculture and other related sectors approved by the CBN.

In his outlook for 2019, CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, had predicted that monetary policy stance would remain judicious, research driven, adequate and supportive of the real economy subject to underlying fundamentals.

He pointed out that the current tight monetary policy stance was expected to continue in the near-term, especially in view of rising inflation expectations and exchange market pressures.

“Though we will act to appropriately adjust the policy rate in line with unfolding conditions and outlooks, the CBN will continue to ensure that the policy interest rate is delicately set to balance the objectives of price stability with output stabilisation.

“Though the CBN has so far managed to maintain exchange rate stability, the current capital flow reversals from emerging markets are expected to continue to exert considerable pressure on market rates.”

Loss of 10m Jobs: Sack APC, Atiku Tells Nigerians
Thursday, January 10, 2019  politics

                            [Image: images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRGYyufrho1YAZ81II3opU...CeHaiU5XGg]
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has lamented that the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government has mismanaged the country’s economy, which has led to the loss of 10 million jobs since it came on board, and urged Nigerians to sack the government in this year’s general election.

Atiku has also berated President Muhammadu Buhari for not attending the burial of five Nigerian Air Force (NAF) officers who died in a helicopter crash while prosecuting the war on terror.

The former vice president disclosed this in Minna, Niger State during PDP presidential campaign rally, where he said that the APC-led federal government having failed to deliver on its campaign promises to Nigerians must be voted out of office.

Atiku said, “In 2015, they came to tell us that PDP did not do anything, and they promised to fight corruption, to improve our economy and also to secure our country. Have they achieved anyone of these three?

“When they came in, there was insecurity only in North-east. Today, there is insecurity in North-west and North Central and we have lost more lives than at any other time in the history of this country in peaceful times. They have failed as far as security is concerned.

“When it comes to the issue of economy, we have lost more jobs, over 10 million jobs, to the extent that Nigeria has been declared the headquarters of poverty in the world. This is a record. Have they fulfilled that promise? Now, I want to promise you that if you vote PDP, we will restore the jobs that had been lost. You either get a job or get a business to do.”

Atiku who made the promise and commitment on behalf of PDP, added that if voted into power, PDP will tackle issues of insecurity, which Buhari has not been able to control.

He added, “They have been unable to control insecurity because they have been unable to provide jobs and businesses for the people. So, by the time we provide jobs and businesses for our young men and women, you will hear less crime and less insecurity. So, I want to promise you on behalf of our great party to sack the APC government and let us send them packing. Like I use to say, Buhari must go! APC must go!.”

Also, the Director General of PDP campaign and Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, said that after three and half years of APC’s leadership, the government had failed to deliver on its campaign promises.

Saraki said, “Our campaign will be based always on issues. Election is about referendum. A government that has been with us for three and half years and promised us three things and we are going to decide as Nigerians if they have performed; if they can continue; and if they have not performed, they must pack and go home.

“They promised security, there was problem in the North-east and they said they can provide security solution; today isn’t the security worse? There is no security in North-central, North-west, there is security problem.

“Before, they said they will provide three million jobs for the youth, today more than 10 million jobs have been lost. They came they said they would bring food to our people; today Nigeria is the capital of hunger in the entire world, and I ask: have they performed?

“They said they will fight corruption, but today there is corruption in the country. Is that not true? They have failed on these things and that is why they must leave and let us bring a man that has experience, that knows how to create jobs, that knows how to bring food to all of us.”

Meanwhile, Atiku has berated President Buhari for not attending the burial of five NAF officers who died in a helicopter crash while prosecuting the war on terror and were buried in Abuja.

In a statement he personally signed yesterday, Atiku said that Buhari’s refusal to attend the funeral of these heroes on Tuesday was part of a pattern of unpatriotic behaviour demonstrated by the President.

According to him, “At a time when the morale of our soldiers should be lifted up as they face the difficult task of defeating the terrorists who are threatening our national security, I find it most regrettable that President Buhari, despite being in Abuja, chose not to attend the funeral of the five Air Force officers who died in a helicopter crash while prosecuting the war on terror.”

Atiku said sadly, due to reasons best known to him, Buhari chose not to attend their funeral, neither was he represented by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo nor any federal delegation.

“This was despite the fact that the President had time to host Nollywood actors and actresses the previous day. Imagine celebrating just before such a solemn event,” he stressed. The former vice president urged Buhari to learn from even younger leaders, like French President Emmanuel Macron, who on March 28, 2018, attended the funeral of a single French policeman, Lt. Col. Arnaud Beltrame, killed by terrorists in Southern France.

He said that single event boosted the morale of the French security forces, because it showed a commitment to their wellbeing and honour for their memory by the head of state.

Atiku stated, “Last month, I had cause to advise the President to find time to attend the funerals of the hero soldiers of the 157 Taskforce Battalion in Metele, Borno State, who paid the supreme price for Nigeria in large numbers. “The most recent funeral held in Abuja, the President was in Abuja on the day of the funeral. The previous day, he had inaugurated his re-election campaign council.

“Very sadly, President Buhari missed another opportunity to demonstrate such commitment to our armed forces.

“My question for Mr. President is this: is securing your second term, more important to you than securing Nigeria?

“Let me end this by commending our military for their sacrificial efforts to secure all of us. You have my full support and solidarity. When we make the solemn vow that the labours of our heroes past shall never be in vain, we mean your colleagues, who paid the ultimate price to secure
Nigeria.”

2019 Polls: Buhari Encouraging Under-age Voting — Afenifere
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos

Pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, on Wednesday said President Muhammadu Buhari is encouraging under-age voting by not signing the Electoral Act passed by the National Assembly into law.

The group said the only way the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) can prevent the incidence of under-age voting in the 2019 general elections was to insist on the use of card reader for all registered voters.

According to INEC, 13.5 million Nigerians voted manually without biometric accreditation in the 2015 presidential election.

The data shows that President Muhammadu Buhari, who was then candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), won in nine of the 10 states where people voted manually.

Speaking to our correspondent, Yinka Odumakin, national publicity secretary of Afenifere, said President Buhari having been a major beneficiary of underage voting in 2015 wanted a repeat next month hence his refusal to sign the Electoral Act.

The organisation further urged the international community such as the US, UK, EU and other foreign observers to monitor the election and insist INEC did the right thing, saying the whole world would be affected if the election in Nigeria went awry.

“In spite of the refusal of the president to sign the Electoral Act, INEC must insist on the use of card reader. Every voter must go through card reader.

“Remember that we have a lot of under-age voting in 2015. That was possible because 13.5 million voters voted manually without card readers. 45 percent of these ones are in the areas where President Buhari won election.

“That is why they want to enjoy it again this time around by not signing the Electoral Act. This election is so important to the future of this country as a stable polity. So, INEC must do everything possible to ensure that such things are prevented.

“Also, the world community like the US, EU, UK and others must beam their searchlight on Nigeria and put their foot down because in their own self-interest, if anything goes wrong in Nigeria, all their countries are in trouble. So, it is in the interest of the world community that nothing happens to dislocate the peace of Nigeria,” he said.

In a related development, Rivers State governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has declared that INEC could not be trusted to conduct credible polls in 2019 because of the inconsistent actions of the commission.

Governor Wike stated that though Rivers people were peace-loving, they would resist any attempt to rig the 2019 election in the state.

He spoke during a Special Appearance on Channels Television, Sunrise Daily, on Wednesday which was aired from the Government House, Port Harcourt.

He said: “INEC has different interpretations of judgments, depending on where it is coming from.

“When the court nullified the Rivers APC primaries, a lawyer of one of the factions wrote to INEC not to recognise any candidate because of the judgment.

“INEC wrote to APC notifying them of the outcome of that judgment.

“INEC merely said they were in receipt of the letter requesting that INEC should obey.

“In the case of PDP, INEC wrote to PDP in Ogun State where Buruji dragged the party to court, telling them they will comply.

“When there is a judgment against PDP, there is immediate enforcement.

“When it concerns APC, INEC says they are studying the judgment. In the case of Ogun State PDP, INEC quickly obeyed the judgment.”

The governor said INEC should work as an unbiased umpire, ensuring that the Electoral Act was respected at all times and due process followed in the conduct of elections.

Governor Wike noted that INEC had been involved in several under-the-table actions in Rivers State since 2015.

He said during the rerun elections, INEC connived with the police to deny the people of Rivers East Senatorial District their rightful mandate.

He stated that INEC and security agencies should commit themselves to working towards credible polls. He noted that INEC and security agencies should sign a pact to respect the tenets of the Electoral Act.

“The Peace Accord is a ceremony. It is a mere public display. The Peace Accord cannot work because they are not sincere.

“INEC and security should sign Peace Accord because they are the ones who create circumstances for electoral violence. They try to manipulate the process against the will of the people,” he said.

Quote:Earlier today, a lady was seen running her mouth on a security guard who works at an eatery.

In a video going viral online, the lady rained insults on the guard for querying her as she tried climbing the stairs of the eatery, was shocked when the man walked up to her and gave a dirty slap that almost swept her off her feet.

Some online users condemned the man’s act and insisted the lady wasn’t supposed to be slapped the way he did.

Bribe Seeking Police Officer Shoots Two Drivers In Kogi State (Photos)

Posted by: Edoman - 01-09-2019, 02:35 PM - No Replies

On Tuesday, a police inspector identified as Mohammed Usman allegedly shot and wounded two drivers in Lokoja, Kogi State over alleged refusal to give bribe.

The incident was said to have occurred at the Ibro Motor Park, opposite the Lokoja International Market. Ibrahim Yakubu, the branch chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), said that trouble started when one of their drivers was stopped by a police team at a checkpoint in Zango area on the Lokoja-Okene highway and ordered to offer them a bribe.

According to him, the driver refused and continued on his journey towards Lokoja. He, however, added that the policemen chased after the driver to the Ibro Motor Park.

“We were just sitting at the park at about 11am, when we started hearing sporadic gunshots. The next thing, we saw one of our fellow drivers run to the union office. The next thing, we saw two policemen follow him. Our union officials addressed them and they left.

The driver said he left his vehicle by the roadside and when we went there, we met a police inspector inside the vehicle. We told him that we are taking the vehicle to the park and he followed us inside. On getting to the union office at the motor park, we told him that we had already settled the matter with the other two policemen.

Upon hearing that, he (Inspector Mohammed Usman) became furious and brought out his gun and first shot on the ground. As he continued his sporadic shooting, a bullet hit one of our drivers, Mohammed Attah, on the leg, while another driver, Emmanuel, was hit in the stomach.

Following the incident, the other policemen stationed outside drove into the park with their hilux bus, and quickly rescued the inspector and drove out.

We then went to B Division Police Station to report the matter and the DPO followed us with the victims to Federal Medical Centre and from there we went to the state police command, to report the matter. The CP has ordered that the policemen involved should be detained until the outcome of victims in the hospital.”

The spokesman of the Kogi State Police Command, William Aya, who confirmed the incident, explained that the policemen who were on stop-and-search operation stopped the driver, but that he refused, and as a result, they pursued him, on the suspicion that he might be carrying incriminating items.

He added that the driver got to a town near a motor park and abandoned his vehicle by the roadside and ran into the park. He said one of the policemen went after him, and that in the process, there was a misunderstanding which led to accidental discharge.

Aya said that the policemen involved have been detained, while the matter is being investigated by the State CID. He added that appropriate sanctions would be taken against those found wanting, at the close of investigation.

Man severely hacks his wife with a machete for refusing to give him money for gambling

Authorities in Rubaga Division, Uganda are hunting a man accused of severely cutting his wife’s left hand with a machete for reportedly refusing to give him money for gambling.
The 47-year-old man from Musigula Zone in Rubaga Division nearly chopped off the hand of his wife Fiona Nyakato, 28, on January 5. Ms Nyakato is currently admitted to Mulago hospital.
According to police, the incident occurred on Saturday at around 2am in one of the city night pubs. It is reported that the suspect became furious after losing all the money he had on him to friends in a gambling game at the pub.
The accused person, who was reportedly drunk, later ordered his wife to surrender Shs100,000 which the family had received as rent payment for one of their rooms .
However, upon refusing to surrender the money, reasoning that it was all the family had been left with, a fight erupted between the couple with the suspect running for a panga which he used to harm his wife.
Having realised his mistake, the man decided to take his wife to Rubaga Hospital where he reportedly told the doctors that she had been attacked by suspected robbers who broke into their home.
Ms Nyakato’s condition worsened and she was referred to Mulago hospital. On learning that he was being followed by a group of villagers, the accused person went into hiding.
The chairman of Musigula village, Mr Francis Mawanda, said he had on several occasions warned the suspect against operating a bar during odd hours.
“The last time I confronted them I smelt marijuana and threatened to close his bar but other drunkards threatened to deal with me for trying to interfere in what they called their booming business,” Mr Mawanda said.
He said he received several complaints from the victim who accused her husband of selling family property to engage in gambling.
According to the victim, this is allegedly the third time the accused person is hacking a person.
Ms Nyakato alleged that her husband last year hacked two; one in Rukungiri and another in Kabusu, a Kampala suburb.
Due to his actions, residents in Musigula Zone have razed down the suspect’s pub.

A wife has punished her husband's mistress after catching them together in her house.

Upon catching them in the act, the wife made the woman say on camera that she's a homewrecker who sleeps around with married men who have kids. She was then given a bucket and a rag and asked to mop the floor. She was also asked to wash the blanket which she and the woman's husband had sex on.

"You want to be the woman of this house? Then do the chores as a wife. I want these blankets clean," the wife said to her rival in the video.

According to online reports, the incident took place in Pretoria, Tshwane, South Africa over the weekend and the video is now going viral after it was shared online.

Popular evangelist accused of fraud after he was caught deceptively soliciting for funds for widows

An evagelist has been accused of being a fraud after he was caught deceptively soliciting for funds, claiming he wants to help widows.

Evangelist Chidi Ibinado shared photos of bags of rice, wrappers, and other items which he claims he bought to distribute to widows. He then asked social media users to donate for more items.

His post got impressive responses with people promising to donate to support his good work. Actress Uche Elendu even declared support for him.

But it turns out he didn't buy those items as he claims. The photo of bags of rice and wrappers which he said he bought for widows are actually photos from  CPM Festac's Papa Move. He is alleged to have taken their photos, shared it online, and passed it off as something he is doing for widows.

He was busted by philathropist Dr Yolanda N. George-David who was one of those that organised CPM's Festac Papa's Move.

She wrote:

Quote:I am Irate.. Disgusted..and Ashamed as a Minister of the Gospel... Evan. Chidi Ibinado in Owerri.. How dare you?

Why would a so called Evangelist take Pictures from CPM Festac's Papa Move and claim that he is taking care of widows.

South African 'pantless dancer' Zodwa Wabantu bares her breasts as she joins topless local women in Namibia

Zodwa Wabantu is no stranger to going almost naked so she flitted right in as she hung out with local namibian women who go topless.

The sexy South African 'pantless' dancer took a tour of Namibia last month and blended with the locals. She dressed like them, went about with breasts left bare, ate their food, and mingled with them.

Following her trip, she said: "Although I felt fear for a moment, the Namibians proved me wrong!”

The sexy dancer said by the end of her trip, she felt she had become a Namibian.

She added:

Quote:I dressed like them and danced for them and they all loved me. I was part of the Himba tribe for a day.
I felt like I was in heaven when I walked around with my breasts out.

Zodwa said she never expected such a warm welcome outside of South Africa’s borders. She said people in Namibia were living original lives and were not ignorant as they were living naked and without fear. She said she never realised there were other people who left their breasts and bums uncovered.

The issue before Nigerians, with the many hurdles placed before presidents who manage the economy and directly affect the amount, quantity and quality of the food on their table is… is… it is if he can even really READ or if he does at all.

What did he study after secondary school again? In the NDA you major in agriculture or engineering or something. Tell Buhari supporters to tell you what Buhari read in all the claims of his attending any school to prepare himself for this HUGE task of governing you.

Atiku read some law at least to Diploma level and has shown brilliance in his day-to-day living. What has Buhari shown you? “United Kingdom of America”? “Osunbade”? “West Germany”? Inability to know the meaning of acronyms of his party APC and of INEC?

What has Buhari said to you as an employer that shows he prepared his mind for this task of being president?

Would you let Buhari teach your son for primary 6 exam? Would your son pass?

But you want him to continue to show a lack of capacity as president and plunge you and everyone deeper in the whirlpool of hunger

And the big question Buhari decides to answer is if he is able to even READ.

How Reno Omokri Silenced Tolu Ogunlesi With One Picture

As Tolu Ogunlesi continue to lick his wounds following his disastrous attempts at rubishing the secret audio tapes in which Amaechi took Buhari and the APC to the cleaners, more evidence has emerged on how Reno Omokri silenced the former Atiku aide.

Ogunlesi who has since resulted to insults and name calling in order to divert attention blasted Nigerians for falling for what he called fabricated recordings in tweets he has now deleted.

In one final punch Reno tweeted: this APC vuvuzela called me a ‘Principality and Power’ and “criminal genius”. Let me use his own photo to respond to him. What can be more criminally genius than promoting an airline that only existed as a plagiarised logo?

Tolu has since gone into Mute Mode !

The Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organization PDP-PPCO, has chided the co-chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC Presidential Campaign Council, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu over what it described as his derogatory remarks against its Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

The PPCO reminded the former Lagos state governor not to forget that as the Asiwaju of Yoruba land, “he has the responsibility of tutoring the younger generation on the culture of the Yorubas, which holds that when a child is given the errand of a slave, he delivers it like a freeborn.”

A statement issued late Tuesday night by PPCO Director of Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan read: “At Tinubu’s stature, he ought to be found in the class of respected senior citizens who are decorous, speak statesmanly and not resorting to the gutters whenever he speaks in public.

“In politics, family ties and bonds as well as relationships are greater and stronger than political interests and it is the expectation of our campaign organization that Tinubu should understand this.

“Our candidate, Atiku Abubakar, is a focused Nigerian who has contributed immensely to the economic and political development of our nation.

“He has also displayed huge stability in character through the bridges of human and economic relationships he has built across our nation.

“At this critical time, when majority of Nigerians expect true democrats, which Tinubu has always claimed allegiance, to come together and rescue our nation from the absurdity of a governance that the APC and the Presidency represent, it is unfortunate that Asiwaju chose to be tied to the aprons of anti-democratic interests.”

The PDP further forged the APC chieftain not to be deceived by the promise of 2023 Presidency, saying he would be dumped at the end.

“Our advice to Tinubu is that he should be watchful ahead of his 2023 wishful presidency interests because those he is dining with today, has demonstrated in time past, that they can always use and dump him.

“Tinubu should know that among the ranks of presidential candidates, Atiku Abubakar stands out as that candidate Nigerians trust and belief in as their next President, come May 29, 2019.

“It is also imperative to know that the fairy tales of integrity which he weaved around President Buhari in 2015 have waned and become obsolete,” the party added.
