Why Some Politicians Would Want Buhari To Remain In Power
Wednesday, January 23, 2019  politics

My conscience would continually torment me if I refuse to voice out what I've observed in the life of the man who SITS on the throne as Nigerian President and the cabals surrounding him.
It's very appalling and seriously pathetic that most Nigerians, both the low and mighty, the soundly educated persons inclusive, due to the height of protracted hardship and hunger in the land, can do any thing to survive, whether it be good or bad, it doesn't concern them at all. Nobody cares!
The bulk of the scenario showcasing how terrible some Nigerians can be in their pursuit for greener pastures and wealth could be visibly seen among our political elites and their followers, especially now that we are in the heat of political campaigns towards the forthcoming general elections.
This is a time when you see politicians with the aid of their supporters, out of their selfish interest, doing everything possible to clinch the mantle of leadership or install a particular candidate, most times to the detriment and against the wish of the masses.
A typical instance is the ongoing campaign and underground work meant at reinstalling Mohammadu Buhari as Nigerian president for another four years, not minding some very serious and embarrassing flaws of Mr. President, which he unfortunately exhibits in most of his public appearances.
A very close watch at our dear President would tell you he is never at all in control of anything, including his office desk, as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces and president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
That's why he would order the Inspector General of Police to carry out a particular action but he would later come back to tell us that he never knew that the IG did not obey the order.
His (wife), had at one time and another voiced out her mind by telling Nigerians and the world at large that her husband is never in control of the country, that some cabals are now in charge; yet, nobody wants to pay heed to that statement made by the closest person in the life of the president.
Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa has in a twinkle of an eye turned to an object of mockery and caricature in the face of the globe, due to the simple reason that our supposed president is not in charge, considering his poor knowledge of the things happening in his government and the country as a whole.
Nigerians all over the world had a very big slap on their face when the incumbent President of the United States of America (USA), Donald Trump, called our own country's President, Mohammadu Buhari a lifeless president, and warned him never to come to meet him again.
Unfortunately, those campaigning for Buhari have not cared to ask why the American President, Trump uttered that statement.
Some Nigerians have been wondering if President Buhari makes out time at all to go through the national dailies or listen to news, to enable him get a little glimpse of happenings in his country and around the globe.
In several occasions, while delivering his speech during political rallies or interviews, President Buhari had been seen making unimaginable blunders and giving a complete different or wrong answer to questions thrown at him; and in some cases he would say (which I think is the truth) that he didn't know that a certain thing happened in his government sometime, or a particular serious matter is going on in his government; which shows that he's not in control of the government, contrary to the thought of few gullible Nigerians.
In the last Presidential Media Chat which was watched in different parts of the world, Buhari said he was sworn in as the President of Nigeria on May 19, instead of May 29, 2015.
To further buttress my point; in a recent APC rally, where the President was expected to hand over the party's flag to the governorship candidate, Buhari was heard mentioning presidential and senatorial, and afterward governotorial candidate, instead of gubernatorial candidate; even after he had been corrected by one of the men standing beside him on the podium. Really, I pity our president because it may not be his own making, but the problem lies with those cabals using him as a shield and figure head to perpetrate their wicked acts against their suspected political enemies and Nigerians in general; when it is vividly clear to these cabals and well reasonable Nigerians that Buhari had in the past tried his best and has nothing more to offer to this country, and therefore, should be allowed to have his rest and relaxation in the remaining years of his life.
Don't ever be surprised when it would be revealed, that the President Buhari we are talking about and accusing for masterminding the several humiliating attacks on some selected big time politicians and office holders, never knew anything about those attacks, but were carried out by the same CABALS in his government.
Again, I need no prophet to tell me that so many shocking revelations would be made after the expiration of the present administration of President Mohammadu Buhari, which Buhari might not know when such atrocities were committed; Just Because He Was Not In charge. His Government Was Hijacked By Cabals!
The events that are unfolding in this Buhari's administration remind me of what I, Otu Obiahu also witnessed in his military regime between December 31, 1983 and August 27, 1985, when Buhari was the Head of State, whereas Tunde Idiagbon was the main man deciding and taking actions.
Idiagbon was the very man who introduced and enforced the popular 'War Against Indiscipline (WAI), while Buhari just sat on the throne as a senior officer, but mainly a ceremonial Head of State.
The truth remains, any person that is thinking of voting for Buhari in the coming election is deceiving himself/herself, because you will surely end up voting for and empowering the 'Same People'- the CABALS in Aso Rock. They are the same group of politicians who are pushing Buhari to contest for another election for their own betterment, not minding Buhari's weaknesses and present health challenges.
It's about time we allow Buhari to rest! He has done his best! So, let's not allow any politician or political party to use him as a camouflage to achieve their selfish goals.
Please and please, never get my views twisted; I'm not saying that we should vote for any particular candidate or party, rather, let's choose wisely the candidate to vote for, apart from Buhari.
In addition to that, the expression of my views here cannot overrule the fact that there are very good and vision ladened politicians vying for various political positions on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which President Buhari belongs to.
We should take note of the good ones and cast our vote for them. APC is like every other political party, which also have their shortcomings. So, this writeup is not about APC as a party; get it right!
However, the issue remains that the so called Cabals or whosoever, should stop projecting Buhari for further elections.
Truly, Truly, Buhari Needs To Go And Rest!

Nigerians Won’t Allow Tinubu Deceive Them Again With Buhari — PDP
Thursday, January 24, 2019  politics

                              [Image: 8576482_buhariandtinubu2_jpegd9d4170a704...9139a2a8a4]
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday described Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, former governor of Lagos State and a national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as a self-centred politician whose support for President Muhammadu Buhari was buoyed by selfish interest and not love for the country.

It would be recalled that Tinubu, few days ago, said the PDP was seeking power to return the country to the dark days when the economy crumbled and Nigerians groaned under its reign between 1999 and 2015.

He also said it amounted to standing logic on its head to compare Atiku Abubakar, PDP presidential candidate, to President Muhammadu Buhari, who is seeking re-election on the platform of the APC.

However, responding to Tinubu’s claim in an exclusive interview with Daily Independent, Kola Ologbondiyan, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, said having deceived Nigerians in 2015 into voting for President Buhari, Nigerians were now wiser and would never listen to Tinubu again, no matter the negative remarks he would make about the PDP and its presidential candidate.

According to him, having seen the state of the country under Buhari’s leadership in the last four years, it is surprising why Tinubu who should have apologised to Nigerians would be asking the electorate to allow Buhari preside over the affairs of the country for another four years.

“Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is only supporting President Buhari for his selfish, political interest. He is not doing that for the love of our nation. If indeed he loves this country and wants the best for us, he will not try to impose a candidate who was asked a question on national television but does not understand what the question was all about.

“He will not try to foist a candidate who presented a presidential flag to a governorship candidate and calls that person the presidential candidate, and later a senatorial candidate.

“So, Nigerians already know Asiwaju Tinubu for who he is and they will not listen to him this time around. He misled them in 2015 and they will not allow that to happen again. They know he is only pursuing his personal interest, not the interest of nationhood.

“The APC promised us change in 2015 but almost four years down the line, nothing has changed. In fact, the situation has gone from bad to worse under APC.

“I believe we deserve total apology from the APC because they have failed grossly in handling the security challenges which is one of the cardinal programmes of the Buhari-led administration.

“We have taken on the APC and President Buhari on three key promises they made to Nigerians during the last election. They promised to revive the economy but the losses of jobs that we have experienced and the cost of living that has gone up astronomically has demonstrated to all of us that President Buhari has not fulfilled his promise about reviving the economy.

“Two, he promised to fight corruption and he is seen as Mr. Integrity but it is very worrisome that President Buhari is not fighting corruption but busy fighting perceived enemies and possible opponents in the 2019 elections.

“All he wants to do is to rig the process to his advantage and to the advantage of his party,” he said.

INEC Receives N198bn for General Election
Thursday, January 24, 2019  NEW

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has revealed that the N198 billion budgetary allocation for the funding of the forthcoming general election, has been released to the commission.

The electoral body has also stated that the results of the February 16 presidential election will be transmitted electronically from the polling units, while the result box will be carried physically by the collation officers.

The National Assembly had last year approved a total sum of N189,207,544,893 for the conduct of the general election as proposed by the commission in the supplementary budget.

Yakubu disclosed this on Tuesday while updating the Council of State on the preparation of the next month general election.

According to the presentation, which was made available to Akelicious yesterday said, “the 2019 general election will be the largest single-day peacetime logistics and security undertaking by the commission since 1999, with 84 million voters, 91 political parties, 23,213 candidates vying for 1558 positions, involving over 814,000 electoral officials.”

Yakubu said the 2015 general election was a watershed in the history of the country’s democracy, stressing that INEC was fully aware of the enormity of conducting the 2019 general election and would spare no effort safeguarding the integrity and credibility of the country’s elections and the consolidation of the country’s democracy.

For logistics, the chairman noted that identification and recruitment of 814,453 adhoc staff for the election had been concluded, adding that the training would commence on January 23, 2019.

According to him, the arrangement for the timely receipt and speedy distribution of sensitive materials; ballot papers and result sheets had been made.

He also revealed that security deployment plans are being finalised with the security agencies to secure the elections.

The chairman explained further that the deployment of non-sensitive materials, like voting Cubicles, Ballot Boxes and others, was ongoing and would be completed on schedule.

The chairman said the procurement of additional Smart Card Readers (SCRs) to replace missing or damaged units has been concluded.

He said that 8.3 per cent female and 91.7 per cent male would be contesting for presidential candidates; while 30.6 per cent female and 69.4 per cent males would be contesting as vice presidential candidates.

Also, 12.3 per cent female would be contesting for Senatorial seats, while 87.7 per cent male would be contesting for the same seats.

Yakubu stressed that 88.4 per cent male would be contesting for House of Representatives, while 11.6 per cent female are contesting for same seat.

On age distribution, the chairman said 17 presidential candidates are between 35 and 45 years; 27 presidential candidates are between 46 and 55 years, 20 presidential candidates are between 56 and 65 years, while seven candidates are above 65 years of age.

To Transmit Presidential Poll Results Electronically, Physically

Meanwhile, INEC has stated that the results of the February 16 presidential election will be transmitted electronically from the polling units.

INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Cross River State, Mr. Frankland Briyai, who stated this in Calabar yesterday, said the transmission of the results electronically would minimise controversies and disagreements concerning the election results.

Briyai, who spoke at a press briefing on modalities packaged by the commission to ensure the success of the presidential and National Assembly elections, said: “Results will be transmitted from the polling units electronically and the result box will also be carried physically by the collation officers.

“When the collation officer comes with the physical result, it will be confirmed with the electronic results in the presence of the party agents and INEC staff.

“It is only when the physical result and the electronic results correspond that it will be approved and accepted by the party.”

The REC also said the card readers that would be used for accreditation of voters have been enhanced to minimise failure when they are put to use during the polls.

“Our smart card readers have been enhanced and upgraded. We have tested them at Osun, Ekiti States as well as Anambra Central senatorial district. In Anambra State, the failure rate was about 0.0 percent, and in Osun State, I did not hear of any Smart Card failure. In our bye-election in Obudu, there was no Smart Card failure. The reason is that at each polling unit, we have technicians that fix these Smart Card readers in case of any challenge,” he stated.

Briyai said as an additional measure to avoid failure of card readers, INEC workers that would be deployed to the polling units will be given adequate training.

“One of the problems we discovered over time was that the ad hoc staff did not know how to use the Smart Card readers appropriately, but this time, we are going to have a series of training for them so that they can be very proficient in the use of the card readers.

“On the use of smart card readers, in case it fails, as long as your name and your passport photo are on the voter register and your name is on the permanent voter card, you will be allowed to vote. They will just tick the column on the incident form, and you would be allowed to vote, so failed smart card reader cannot stop our elections at any polling units,” the REC added.

FG Orders IOCs to Pay Outstanding Oil Revenues on PSCs
Thursday, January 24, 2019  BUSINESS

The federal government has given International Oil Companies (IOCs) operating in Nigeria’s deep offshore and inland basin a 14-day ultimatum to pay all outstanding revenues on Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs), Akelicious has learnt.

The government said the revenues are in compliance with the Supreme Court judgment last October, which noted that the IOCs are in default of adjusting the revenue accruals in accordance with the provisions of section 16(1) of the Deep Offshore and Inland Basin Production Sharing Contracts Act, Cap D3, Laws of the Federation, 2004.

In one of the letters written by the federal government’s consultants/recovery agents, Trobell International, directing Statoil Nigeria Limited to pay $5.5 billion, the government threatened that any IOC, which refuses to pay would have its PSC terminated.

The letter cited by Akelicious, was titled, ‘Outstanding Revenue on OML 128 Pursuant to section 16(1) of the Deep Offshore and Inland Basin Production Sharing Contracts Act, Cap D3, Laws of the Federation, 2004’.

The government also threatened to file a complaint against such defaulting oil firm at international fora under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act in the United States of America and other related international protocols for failing to observe the mandatory obligations under Section 16(1) of the Deep Offshore and Inland Basin Production Sharing Act.

Following a suit filed by the Attorneys-General of Rivers, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom States, the Supreme Court in a landmark judgment on October 17, 2018, had ordered the federal government to adjust its share of proceeds from the sale of crude oil whenever the price exceeds $20 per barrel.

The order was a fall out of the terms of settlement between the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and the plaintiffs.

The court in a unanimous ruling, ordered that the 13 per cent derivation that was due to the oil producing states be paid upon recovery, in accordance with Section 162 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

The seven-man panel of the apex court, which included the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, also ordered that effect should be given to the provisions of Section 16(1) of the Deep Offshore and Inland Basin Production Sharing Contracts Acts Cap, Laws of the Federation, 2004.

The said Section 16(1) of the Act reproduced hereunder for your reference states, “The provisions of this Act shall be subject to review to ensure that if the price of crude oil at any time exceeds $20 per barrel, real terms, the share of the government of the federation in the additional revenue shall be adjusted under the production sharing contracts to such extent that the production sharing contracts be economically beneficial to the government of the federation.”

To give effect to the Supreme Court judgment, Trobell International, in the letter, stated that after a thorough investigation, Statoil ought to have paid the sum of $5,561,689,751.43 being the principal sum and interest outstanding owed to the federal government in default of adjusting the accruals.

The letter, which Akelicious gathered was also dispatched to other IOCs stating various amounts they were owing the federal government, said it arrived at the amount Statoil owed after a painstaking calculation by technical experts and accountants and a review of the documentation submitted to it by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

The letter, which was dated January 14, 2019 read, “The claim for outstanding revenue to the Federal Government of Nigeria is made pursuant to section 16 (1) of the Deep Offshore and inland Basin production sharing contracts Act, Cap D3, Laws of the Federation, 2004 and the obligations contracted to under the production sharing contracts to operate within the confines of Nigerian laws relevant on the subject matter.

“These sums have become due in consequence of the extant provisions of section 16 (1) of the Deep Offshore and inland Basin Production sharing Contracts Act, Cap D3, Laws of the Federation, 2004 and the undisputed facts that have crystallised in order to give the said section consequential effect.

“On the 17th of October, 2018, the Supreme Court of Nigeria in its original jurisdiction gave judgment and ordered that effect should be given to the provision of section 16(1) of the Deep Offshore and Inland Basin Production Sharing Contracts Act, Cap D3, Laws of the Federation, 2004.

“The Federal Government of Nigeria appointed our firm as Consultant and Recovery Agent to recover these sums and upon a painstaking calculation by Technical experts and Accountants in the relevant and material areas and a review of the documentation submitted by your Organisation/Company to the federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) arrived at a figure of USD5,561,689,751.43 only being the principal and interest outstanding/owed by your organisation/company to the Federal Government of Nigeria in default of adjusting the revenue accruals in accordance with the provisions of section 16(1) of the Deep Offshore and Inland Basin Production Sharing Contracts Act, Cap D3, laws of the Federation, 2004.

“Take notice that should your organisation/company fails to pay the said sum within 14 days from the receipt of this letter, we have the firm instructions of the Federal Government of Nigeria to recover the said sum by all legal means possible, including exercising any or every option available under the Production Sharing Contract and the relevant laws.

“Take further notice that Federal Government of Nigeria reserves the right to take such appropriate and direct sanctions such as the termination of contract and the exercise of the power of ‘shut-in’ in order to give effect to the judgment/order of the Supreme Court of Nigeria dated 17th October, 2018 including but not limited to filing a complaint in the international fora under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act in the United States of America and other related international protocols for failing to observe the mandatory obligations under Section 16(1) of the Deep Offshore and Inland Basin Production Sharing Act, Cap d3, Law of the Federation, 2004 and in consequence thereof shortchanging the Federal Government of Nigeria and expropriating what is due from the additional revenue accruing long after the price of crude oil had exceeded $20 per barrel in real terms.”

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

THURSDAY, 24TH JANUARY.

MORE THAN FAVOURED CREATURES.

…Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you (John 15:13-15).

As Christians, we’re more than servants of righteousness or God’s favoured creatures; we’re joint-heirs with Christ. We’re literally, and vitally, born of God, with His life in our spirits. That makes us one with Him.

Some Christians haven’t really understood the actual reason Jesus came to the earth. He didn’t come to save us from sin; that was a means to an end. He came to give us life, so that with that life in us, we could be in fellowship with God.

It would have been wonderful for us just to be His servants or His favoured creatures, but He chose to bring us into fellowship; into oneness with Himself. This divine comradeship is bigger than what the natural mind can conceive, and that’s why many still stumble at it.
How could man, with all his natural frailties and foibles become one with God? But it’s what Jesus accomplished for us; it’s the reason for His vicarious death. He brought us into the fellowship of the God-kind.

Remember, He said in John 5:26, “For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself.” Then, coming over to the Epistles, John writes, “…and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life…” (1 John 5:11-12).

The same inherent life that Jesus has is what He gave us at the New Birth. How could anyone know this and live an ordinary life! You couldn’t know this as a Christian and live in defeat. We’re the divine breed; the uninfectable species; carriers of the God-life, and dispensers of His unsearchable riches and graces.
Get to know who you are; you’re more than a mere “believer” in Jesus; you’re a participator in the divine experience; an associate of the God-kind. Glory to God!

CONFESSION

I believe in Jesus Christ; therefore, I have eternal life, and the light of life. I bring men into this light—the light of God’s righteousness. I’m a dispenser of the unsearchable riches and graces of Jesus Christ. Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY:

Ephesians 2:10 AMPC For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), [a]recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].

Romans 8:16-17 AMPC The Spirit Himself [thus] testifies together with our own spirit, [assuring us] that we are children of God. 17 And if we are [His] children, then we are [His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His inheritance with Him]; only we must share His suffering if we are to share His glory.

24TH JANUARY.

KINDLY SAY THIS WORDS OUT LOUD.

Dear Father, I rejoice today, knowing that the sacrifice of Jesus for my sin was the ultimate price by which I now stand justified in your presence. Thank you for presenting me holy and unblameable before you in love, having washed away my sins and cleansed me from all unrighteousness. I rejoice exceedingly today

knowing that you’ve given me “the blessing,” and endowed with all I need for life and godliness through Christ Jesus. Thank you for your immeasurable gift of grace, and for commanding your blessing upon me forever, causing everything I lay my hands upon to succeed and flourish, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God bless you

A male Twitter user noticed the breast of a female passenger spilling out of her dress in a bus in Lagos and he took a photo and shared online.

The poster has been called out by some for taking her photo and sharing it with her face on display, while some have defended the poster, saying if the woman can step out half-dressed then she shouldn't complain about being shamed for it.

Woman accuses her pastor husband of domestic violence and narrates all the horrific things he's allegedly done to her

A woman has taken to Facebook to accuse her husband - a pastor - of domestic violence.
The woman claimed she's been in an abusive marriage for the past 8 years. She claimed her husband beats her all the time and recently stripped her naked in front of their kids and neighbours. This, she says, is what broke the camel's back.
Erdoo Apollos Davis shared her story on Facebook, writing:

Quote:Yes I think this is just the right time to say this...I have been married for the past eight now getting to nine years to a very abusive man,I have tried all I could to make my marriage work but it kept getting worse by the day...he beats me in the presence of his mother, brother my sisters and the last that broke the Carmel's back was to beat me and strip me naked before my children and neighbours. I guess you are all asking what would have warranted that right? Well then let me tell you because i bought a sim card without his permission...are you all surprised...he accuses me of infidelity and does not trust me even though me married me as a virgin. Yes am saying this on this platform to let the whole world know that domestic violence is real and could happen to just any body...where the red flags not there they were, but off course who would have thought that a pastor will do such a thing...well I was naive and he took advantage of that...therefore I plead with every lady out there who is thinking do I stay or leave. My advice is this leave so you can live to tell your story. Cheers to all the strong women out there ...#iamasurvivour#

Oby Ezekwesili Withdraws From Presidential Race, Insists On Coalition
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 01-24-2019, 08:24 AM - Replies (3)

Oby Ezekwesili withdraws from presidential race on Thursday morning and has rather opted to help build a coalition to defeat the All Progressives Congress and the People’s Democratic Party in the February 16, 2019 election.

In a statement issued by the spokesperson for the Obiageli Ezekwesili Presidential Campaign Organisation, Ozioma Ubabukoh, Ezekwesili was quoted as saying that her decision to withdraw from the race followed extensive discussions with Nigerians at home and the Diaspora.

According to her, the action is also prompted by an examination of the country’s electoral environment sequel to the 2019 presidential debate of Saturday, January 19, 2019.

Quote:“This decision followed extensive consultations with leaders from various walks of life across the country over the past few days. I deem it necessary for me to focus on helping to build a veritable coalition to ensure a viable alternative to the #APCPDP in the forthcoming elections,” the statement read.
[size=undefined]

She said,
[/size]

Quote:“It is my ardent belief that this broad coalition for a viable alternative has now become more than ever before, an urgent mission for and on behalf of Nigerian citizens. I have therefore chosen to lead the way in demonstrating the much needed patriotic sacrifice for our national revival and redirection.

“I wish to state that over the past three months, I have been in private, but extended talks with other candidates to birth a coalition that would allow Nigerians to exercise their choice without feeling helplessly encumbered by the evil twins of #APCPDP.

“While the deliberations continued, I never hesitated for a moment in my willingness and determination to sacrifice my candidacy in order to facilitate the emergence of the envisaged strong and viable alternative that Nigerians could identify with in our collective search for a new beginning.

“My commitment to this promising political recalibration has been consistent and in consonance with my agreement, at the request of candidates under the Presidential Aspirants Coming Together (PACT) arrangement in 2018, when I consented to supervise the internal selection process as an outside observer passionate about building an alternative force.”
[size=undefined]

Ezekwesili also said,
[/size]

Quote:“However, despite resistance from the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria on these and other issues, I have decided that it is now necessary to show by action and example my determination on this issue by stepping down my candidacy so as to focus squarely on building the coalition to a logical conclusion.

“We have no right to allow citizens give in to despair. We will #Fight4Naija together and prove to all that the mess, which the political class has now become, should not be allowed to destroy our spirits and nation. We are also determined to ensure that the message keeps resonating that our beloved country deserves better, and that we will get the best that we deserve.”
[size=undefined]

She added,
[/size]

Quote:“From last year, when I joined the presidential race, I made it clear to Nigerians that the country has always had a 20-year cycle of change - 1958, 1979, and 1999. As such, 2019 begins another 20-year cycle, and together with all Nigerians of good will, I stand ready to play my part to ensure that we do not miss this golden opportunity to sing a new song.

“There is no more time to waste. Let’s get to work!”
[size=undefined]

Meanwhile, Ubabukoh thanked Nigerians, including campaign donors and volunteers, who supported Ezekwesili, saying that “every money donated to the campaign and funds spent will be accounted for in the coming days.”

The Lagos Zonal Office of EFCC, on January 22, 2019, secured the conviction of Temitope Alani Teslim, for Internet fraud.

Justice Sherifat Solebo of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos convicted him for the offence bordering on possession of fraudulent documents. He was arrested by officers of the Nigeria Army Corps of Military Police on May 16, 2018 around Ogba, Lagos and was subsequently handed over to the EFCC.

During investigation, he wrote three statements, in which he confessed that he was into dating scam. He was re-arraigned today on an amended 22-count charge bordering on possession of fraudulent documents.

Quote:One of the counts reads: “That you, Temitope Alani Teslim (aka Hannah Ciar), on or about the 25th of June 2018 at Lagos, within the Ikeja judicial division, had in your possession a document titled ‘My Discussion With Stevieboy66’, wherein you represented yourself as a white female, Hannah Ciar, to one Stevieboy66, thereby containing pretence which you knew to be false.”
Count two reads: “That you, Temitope Alani Teslim (aka Hannah Ciar), on or about the 25th of June 2018 at Lagos, within the Ikeja judicial division, had in your possession a document titled ‘Happy Hump Day’ containing pretence which you knew to be false.”
He pleaded “guilty” to the charges. The prosecuting counsel, Bilikisu Buhari, told the court that the defendant had entered a plea bargain with the EFCC. After hearing the terms of agreement reached by the prosecution and defence, the trial judge convicted him accordingly, and sentenced him to one year and four months in prison.

Judge Solebo also ordered the forfeiture of an iPhone 7, a silver Acer Chrome and battery power pack, which he used “as the instrumentality of fraud” to the Federal Government.

Osinbajo: Buhari Has Ordered Prosecution Of Lawal, Oke
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 01-23-2019, 03:32 PM - Replies (1)

Quote:Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says it is expected that criminal allegations will be filed against Babachir Lawal, former secretary to the government of the federation, following a directive from President Muhammadu Buhari that he should be prosecuted.

Lawal was sacked after a senate committee indicted him on misappropriating funds meant for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the north-east but he denied any wrongdoing.

Buhari had relinquished him and Ayo Oke, director-general of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), of their positions.Oke’s dismissal followed the discovery of $43 million at an apartment in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Osinbajo spoke when he honoured the invitation of The Christian Youths under the aegis of the GRILL, Ikeja branch.

He said the Buhari administration will not share public funds to friends and families, adding that the president deserved to be re-elected because of the way he had addressed grand corruption.

While answering questions from the audience on the former SGF, Osinbajo said Lawal and Oke were recommended for prosecution by the committee he chaired.I think the first thing for us is that the report was acted upon; the former SGF was dismissed,” he said.

“Secondly, the president has directed that the SGF and former DG of NIA should be prosecuted. So, we are expecting that prosecution will take place. The next of course is that criminal allegations will be filed against them and the prosecution process will be completed.”

He blamed corruption for the woes of the country, saying stealing is not taking place under this government.

“Corruption has had detrimental effects on Nigeria’s economy. This country was subjected to corruption for many years. Grand corruption perpetuated by previous governments is responsible for the state of the economy,” he said.

“Many of the projects in the country initiated by the previous government are not completed because of corruption. Grand corruption makes people start projects and never complete them.

“Grand corruption is when the head of government takes money from the treasury and shares it to the people.“You will never find people stealing from the public treasury under this administration.

“The same individuals who robbed this country are saying they want to come back and fix the problems.
We should ask them what they are going to do about grand corruption? How are you sure they are not going to enrich their friends with public funds.”

The vice president, however, called for more tolerance among Christians and Muslims in the country.

Again, court grants bail to Dino Melaye on the condition that he's not leave the country without a written application to the court

A Federal High Court in Abuja presided over by Justice Yusuf Halilu has granted bail to Senator Dino Melaye who was arraigned on an eight-count charge of evading arrest, conspiracy, resistance to arrest, failure to honour police invitation and intentionally giving false information to the public.

While ruling on the application  filed by Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), Justice Halilu held that the essence of bail could not be overemphasized, saying that it was meant to make a defendant to stand for trial.

According to him, in granting a defendant bail, the court has to consider the nature of the charge, the antecedent of the bail applicant, among others. The judge, therefore, upheld the earlier bail granted the Melaye on January 18 and added that Melaye should not leave the shores of the country without a written application to the court.

The judge also directed Ozekhome to warn his client to ensure that he does not comment on the matter before the court in any media. He then adjourned the case until February 25 for commencement of trial.

''Our economy failing because investors know Buhari not in charge'' - Bukola Saraki

Senate President Bukola Saraki, says the drop in Foreign Direct Investment in Nigeria is because most foreign investors have come to understand that ''President Buhari is not the one running this administration.''
A recent report by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development indicated that Ghana has overtaken Nigeria as West Africa’s largest recipient of FDI.
Speaking on AIT this morning, Saraki said on several occasions, President Buhari has shown he is not in charge of this government.

Quote:''You know we have said many times that there is a government within the government. It is clear that the private sector doesn’t have the confidence and that is why if you look at the level of direct investment in the country, you will see that it is low. But our own candidate would drive that. He would be able to engage the private sector and inspire confidence to put in investment.” he said

Update: Lagos Police narrates how mother of 4 was shot dead on New Year's Day after she pleaded with robbers not to kill her husband

The Lagos State Police Command has narrated how a mother of four, Mrs Modupe was shot dead in a desperate bid to save the life of her husband during an armed robbery attack at their home on New Year’s Day. Read previous LIB reports here and here

Parading two suspects arrested over the incident on Tuesday in Lagos, state Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, told journalists that the woman pleaded with the robbers not to shoot her husband but she was shot dead on the chest.
“On Jan. 1, 2019, at about 4 a.m., some dare devil armed robbers invaded the home of one Mr Akin and held the man and his wife Modupe Catherine, now late, hostage at gun point.
“At this time, their children were in the church for the cross over service. The deceased stood between the robbers and her husband and started pleading with them not to kill him.
“Unfortunately for the woman, one of the robbers pulled the trigger, firing the deceased on her chest. They made away with their phones, laptops and a sum of N2,200.
“Based on the sad event, operatives of the State Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) visited the scene and gathered items of evidential importance which were analysed leading to the arrest of one of the robbers.
“During interrogation, he confessed to committing the crime. He later led detectives to arrest one other suspect who served as their armourer,’’ he said.

Eligible Voters In Aba Accuse INEC Of Frustration
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 01-23-2019, 01:45 PM - No Replies

Quote:Yolamchi Ukaga

Umuahia

Eligible voters in Osisioma, Aba South and Aba North local government areas of Abia state have expressed frustration over the inability of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to give them their personal voter cards (PVCs).

The voters, who spoke to newsmen separately at INEC offices in the various local government secretariats, explained that they have visited INEC offices severally without receiving their PVCs.

They alleged that if INEC was unwilling to give them their PVCs easily, it means they have ulterior motive for keeping their PVCs from reaching them.

The voters however, feared they might be disenfranchised by INEC, despite all the time, effort and money they have invested to reach INEC offices to process and receive their voters’ cards.

Victor Egbogu, one of the eligible voter’s at Aba South observed that INEC is discouraging people from believing that elections will be free and fair, by not releasing people’s PVCs.

According to him, the action of INEC affirms the claim of some electorates that some INEC officials collude with politicians to use unclaimed PVCs to rig elections and urged INEC officials to release people’s PVSs, which according to him is their right as citizens.

“They should not do that. If they say voting is our right and they are refusing to give us our PVCs, what are they going to use them for?

To ensure that the PVCs get to their owners, he advised INEC to deploy National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to share the cards.

“If each NYSC member is given the cards belonging to a ward to share, it will be easy for people to collect their PVCs and attend to other businesses, instead of wasting time visiting INEC office.

Chibuike Uchennanna, from Aba North Local Government, said he was not aware of the plan by INEC to go to the wards today to hand in the cards, hence his presence at the office.

Onyebuchi Nwaonorue, whose father registered before he died, said they should give him his father’s card if they were not using it for any other purpose.

Mr. Chizuru Dioka, expressed pain at lack of equipment like computers at the INEC offices in the state, which could help to verify registered persons, before searching for their cards in order to save time.

He also urged INEC to give them the cards of their dead relatives, if they were not using them to help politicians rig elections.

Chiemela Chiavoghilefu explained that he has visited Osisioma, over five times to collect his PVCs, which he said has not been given to him.

The respondents stated that they would be angry, if at the end of the day INEC refuses to release their cards to enable them vote, noting that they would believe that INEC disenfranchised them intentionally to fulfill their ulterior motives.

However, Mr. Chijioke Ude, electoral officer, Osisioma Local Government, explained that his office has been making serious efforts to distribute PVCs to their owners.

He regretted that the number of staff in his office cannot match the number of persons coming to the office to collect their PVCs, stressing that the eligible voters are impatient.

He explained further that persons desiring to transfer from one state to another with only temporary voters’ cards were misinformed as INEC does not transfer temporary cards adding that such persons needed was fresh registration.

Quote:2019 Polls: Abia governorship debate ends in chaos, many injured

January 23, 2019
Agency Report

A debate for the governorship candidates of four major political parties in Abia State on Tuesday ended in chaos, following sporadic gunshots at Abia Hotels, Umuahia, venue of the event.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the gunshots and teargas cannisters were fired by security aides to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and Alex Otti, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

The shooting and teargas caused a stampede on the hotel premises, as scores of people, including newsmen and supporters of the candidates at the venue, scampered to different directions in a desperate bid to escape being hit by bullets.

In the process, many fell down, suffering injuries, while struggling to escape through the main gate, which was the only exit route in the hotel.

Trouble started immediately after the tension-soaked debate, when the governor’s motorcade was about to leave the venue.

Scores of Abia youth, said to be students, had besieged the hotel, seeking to have audience with the governor.

They were said to have also organised another governorship debate in Umuahia on the same day and had invited the governor to participate.

Their attempt to get to the governor, who was already seated in his car, was stopped by his security aides.

As the students surged toward the governor’s motorcade, the security aides seized and manhandled their leaders, forcing other students to barricade the main gate to the hotel.

In an attempt to disperse the crowd and bring the tensed situation under control, the security aides fired several shots and teargas cannisters into the air before forcing their way out of the hotel.

The debate, organised by a group of online practitioners and some private radio stations in the state, was attended by Mr Ikpeazu, who is the governoship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party and Mr Otti.

Others were the governorship candidates of the Social Democratic Party and Accord Party, Blessing Nwagba and Emeka Uwakolam.

Discussions at the debade centred mainly on the state of the Abia economy, security, infrastructure development, youth employment, education and health, among others.

Me Ikpeazu rated his administration high on road infrastructure, saying he had built roads that would outlive his administration.

According to him, no past administration in the state built any road that lasted up to 10 years.

He also scored himself high on education, security and health, agriculture and development of small and medium enterprises.

His claims were however disputed by Messrs Otti and Uwakolam, who argued that the administration had further impoverished Abia citizens.

Me Otti faulted the governor’s claim on the number and quality of roads constructed by his administration, adding that insecurity worsened from 2015 to date.

He also said only 59 roads with a cumulative length of 79.38km were constructed by the present administration.

The opposition candidates also berated Mr Ikpeazu for failing to pay workers salaries and pensions.

They alleged that the administration failed woefully to transform the state, in spite of the huge resources at its disposal as oil-producing state, and the Federal Government’s bail out fund and Paris Club refunds to the state.

Each of them alleged that the state resources had not been judicously deployed in addresing the numerous development needs of the state by the Ikpeazu administration and promised to do better, if elected.

'If I could speak to President Trump directly, I would tell him to "resign" - Former Secretary of State, John Kerry

Former Secretary of State John Kerry has said that if he could speak to President Donald Trump directly, he would tell him to "resign."

He was asked by CNBC's Tania Bryer during a World Economic Forum panel in Davos, Switzerland, what he would convey to Trump and Kerry replied, "I can't play that because he doesn't take any of this seriously. He doesn't have an ability to have that kind of conversation." When pressed on what his message to the President would be, Kerry responded, "Resign".

Kerry, the 2004 Democratic presidential nominee, also criticized Trump for "his insane decision" to pull out of the Paris climate accord in June 2017, for which "people will die. I wish there was a lawsuit capacity that could hold people liable for such an insane decision as he has made, which is going to cost lives. People will die because of the President's decision, and billions of dollars of damage will be done to property" he said.

Kerry also accused Trump of lying about the consequences of pulling out of the accord. Trump claimed at the time that he was leaving to pursue "fair treatment" and so that foreign leaders would no longer "laugh at us. I'm disappointed when a president of the United States lies, and that was a lie there's no burden," said Kerry, who was secretary of state during President Barack Obama's second term. "Paris did not place outside burdens levied by any other country on any other country."

@POLITICSNGR

SDP Senatorial Candidate, Natasha Akpoti has accused the Governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello of framing her for Murder and Gun running.

PoliticsNGR gathered that Akpoti, in a statement via her facebook page, alleged that bello was plotting to frame her for the death of one 'Enesi'. She wrote;

"It was drawn to my attention that GYB planned on framing me up for the murder of Enesi and equipping thugs with guns.
At midnight, masked gun men in military uniforms stormed the residences of two of my supporters :

1. Friday Ovoro (picture attached) who was shot in the leg and dragged away in the presence of his wife .

2. David Otori who was absent so his aged father was taken away, but freed 2 hours ago .

Reports reaching me is that this was a “joint task operation”. Their intention is to force a confessionary statement from Friday so I would be roped in and arrested.

Trite it to say that this is happening right on the very day I am to attend a security meeting in Lokoja (see attached).
Well, I am heading to the Lokoja police command and would keep you updated on the unfolding development.

Dear GYB,
Tick Tock...
As the chief security officer of Kogi State, with a 100m bounty, you still can’t find the murders of Yusuf Sementi and Enesi Ojo because ... you gave the mastermind."

Obasanjo: If We Expose Those In Buhari Government, They Will Go To Jail & Hell
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 01-23-2019, 11:13 AM - No Replies

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said those in the present administration will not only go to jail, they will go to hell if their corrupt acts are exposed.

He also explained why he forgave an ex-Vice-President and Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in an interview with the BBC Yoruba monitored by our correspondents.

Comparing Atiku with President Muhammadu Buhari, Obasanjo said his former deputy, though not a messiah, was far better than the incumbent President.

He said, “What I am saying is that where we are today; our present situation, if you look at those who are there today and our boss (Buhari), I insist that Atiku will do better than them.

“This is not a prophecy. Those in government today, if we expose them, all of them will enter hell; they will not only go to jail. They will go to hell. Whoever that God does not expose his sins to the public is the person whose secret is kept.”

Obasanjo, however, said he was not privy to the plans of Atiku if he became Nigeria’s next President.

He said, “I did not say he (Atiku) will behave like Jesus. I did not say he will behave like Prophet Muhammed, but he will do better, in fact twice better than what we have at present.”

Obasanjo said the President’s performance in the area of the economy was worse than his assessment of his (Buhari) knowledge of the economy in 2015.

The ex-President said Atiku was not an angel but he had atoned for his sins when he came to him in Abeokuta and sought forgiveness.

He said, “Those who talked about what I said about Atiku, what about what I said about Buhari? His performance is even worse than what I thought.

“I said Buhari did not know anything about economy. Have you not seen it? I said he did not know about diplomatic relations, have you not seen it?

Ex-President accuses Buhari of nepotism

While accusing Buhari of nepotism, Obasanjo said the President gave priorities to his ethnic group when appointing people into sensitive positions.

Obasanjo added, “Look at what is happening, the person that is leading us says he cannot appoint any other tribes into the posts he considers sensitive because he does not trust them. If he cannot trust my tribe and your tribe what is the benefit? And he still wants my tribe and your tribe to vote for him. So, he can ask us to vote for him but he cannot trust us to be appointed into sensitive positions. What is sauce for the goose is also sauce for the gander.

“If you don’t trust us, how do you want me to trust you ? If you trust me and I misbehave replace me with another person. But if only your maternal and paternal relatives are the only people you can appoint because they are the only people you can trust…

“In Nigeria, where we have tribes numbering about 500, you now said you could not trust some people . That is what we are saying.”

Obasanjo also berated Buhari’s economic policies, saying “Look at our economy, is it the way it should be? Our economy can never develop if foreign investors do not come to invest in the economy . But, as it is , they are not coming into the country and they will never come.”

On the activities of Boko Haram , Obasanjo lamented that the insurgents were deadlier than they were before the present administration .

YPM knocks Obasanjo for attacking Buhari

Meanwhile, the National Coordinator, Yoruba Patriots’ Movement, Chief Oladosu Oladipo, said the anti-Buhari’s comment of Obasanjo was unbecoming of a statesman.

The group was of the view that the unsubstantiated allegations against the President had “reduced his (Obasanjo’s) value both politically and intellectually.”

Wondering about the inconsistency of the ex-President, Oladipo who spoke in Ibadan, said the aspersions being cast on Buhari had further impacted negatively on Obasanjo’s integrity.

Oladipo said, “Two things I see, making a U-turn or somersaulting in the broad daylight has reduced his value both politically and intellectually. It has reduced his integrity; reduced all his virtues and has put him as somebody whose words cannot be relied upon and who cannot mentor the up-and-coming generations. In fact, he is double-mouthed.”

In a statement issued by the group, the YPM said, “Those of us with genuine intentions, shall support these great leaders to take Nigeria to the next level. The national looters of yesterday should please go to sleep and give development a chance. We call on smaller parties to merge with the APC which is now a mega party. I want to advise Nigerians not to take Chief Obasanjo seriously.”

Oladipo described the national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, as a great man following the footsteps of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

Crude Oil Discovered In Uruan, Akwa Ibom
User Avatar Forum: Oil/Gas
Posted by: Edoman - 01-23-2019, 11:10 AM - No Replies

Quote:Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has disclosed that the state would soon begin the exploration of crude oil discovered in Urua Local Council area of the state.

The governor disclosed this during his campaign yesterday at the council’s headquarters.

According to him, the state is now awaiting the conclusion of some paper formalities, adding that when completed, it would go a long way in expanding the state’s status and income from the federation account.

Emmanuel said the commencement of oil exploration would further boost the state’s economy and create employment for the people.

He said: “Uruan is at the verge of becoming one of the oil producing communities in the state. That is why you see a new oil rig in the area, and once we are done with signing of papers, we will begin exploration.”

The governor said his administration had established a green house agriculture farm project along airport road for the cultivation of special crops in the area.

“We are not playing politics of development, because campaigns should be issue based. I can assure the people of Uruan that everything ongoing in the area will be completed and commissioned before the end of this administration.

The greenhouse in Uruan will be commissioned by our presidential candidate,” he said.

The governor disclosed that about 2000 cattle had been purchased to reproduce in their natural habitat, before they are transported to the state for the production of milk and yoghurt.

He reiterated his committed to improved healthcare delivery, noting that such has made him to work towards massive turnaround for the Ituk Mbang General Hospital, which he said, has been in a serious state of disrepair.

“Ituk Mbang hospital was overgrown with weeds without maintenance and we turned its fortunes around by equipping it with modern facilities,” he said.

Emmanuel lamented that previous administrations did not even give a kilometer of road to the area, adding that the first ever range in the state is at Adadia, all of which he set up to boost the economy and create jobs.

A political leader in the area, Obong Peter Ekpe Atakpo, commended Emmanuel for being the first governor to fulfill a promise to develop the area.

He listed the projects to include: Akwa Prime Hatchery, Anua-Mbak-Issiet road, Mbiaya Uruan road and Mbiatok Itam-Mbiaya Uruan road.

Others are Mbiaya-Ita-Ikpa-Mbiakong- Idu road, Ituk Mbang General Hospital, Adadia/Use Cattle Range, the Housing Estate-Ibiaku Ishiet, and Greenhouse Agriculture farm project.

Obasanjo To Embark On Foreign Tour For Atiku

*To Sell His Candidature To U.S., EU, UN, Others
*PDP Hails Ex-President, Describes Him As Lover Of Nigeria
*Ex-President Suffering From Power Withdrawal Syndrome — Sagay
*Obasanjo A Nuisance, Abusing Freedom Of Expression — Tony Momoh

Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos

Ahead of the February 16 presidential election, former President Olusegun Obasanjo will in the coming days embark on foreign trips where he will market Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to the international community on why he thinks he will make a good president of Nigeria if elected.

According to Obasanjo’s aide, the former president who has not hidden his disdain for President Muhammadu Buhari’s presidency is expected to visit leading countries and international organisations such as the United States, EU and the United Nations “where he will appeal to them to take special interest in the forthcoming election and also canvass for a leadership change to save Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation, from the brinks of collapse caused by the Buhari presidency”.

Speaking on why Obasanjo has not been visible at the rallies of Atiku as he has always done with former candidates he endorsed, the aide said Obasanjo believes Atiku has the support of Nigerians already.

“The former president believes Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has national appeal and he is loved by Nigerians. Atiku, a former vice president, is already a known public figure who needs no introduction to Nigerians. You can see the show of love to him by Nigerians everywhere he goes. From the youths to the elderly, men and women, Nigerians are yearning for Atiku and they want him to preside over the affairs of the country come May 2019.

“So, there is no need for Baba (Obasanjo) to follow him about on his campaign. Atiku and the PDP can take care of that and from what we are seeing, they are doing a fantastic job.

“As an internationally acclaimed and highly respected former president whose voice carries enormous weight in the international community, Obasanjo’s focus for now is to market Atiku to the international community and convince world leaders that Atiku’s presidency will usher in a new dawn for Nigeria and reposition the economy.

“The APC government having seen Atiku as a threat has made a lot of negative comments about him just to tarnish his image.”

“So, from what I know, the former president will soon embark on foreign trips where he will not only drum up support for Atiku but also appeal to the international community to take special interest in the presidential election, especially after he has gathered that the Buhari administration has perfected plans to rig the election”, he said.

Speaking on the development, the PDP said any action taken by Obasanjo and Nigerians in rescuing Nigeria from the mis-governance of the Buhari administration is welcome.

Kola Ologbondiyan, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, said it will be a good thing for Nigeria if the former president can take the message across the globe.

“Whatever action is taken by Nigerians on the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari and even the plot of his self-succession will be welcome. As we speak, President Buhari has demonstrated that he is incompetent and that he does not have the capacity to govern this nation.

“All those angling for his reelection are doing it for selfish purposes and not on the conviction that he has performed well and will do more in the next four years.

“So, if former President Olusegun Obasanjo who is a lover of Nigeria, who is very patriotic and has made tremendous sacrifices for the unity and cohesion of our nation believes that he needs to take this message across the globe, it is all well and good”.

In a related development, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), on Tuesday said Obasanjo’s comments are unbecoming of an elder statesman and former president of a country.

In a statement made available to Daily Independent, Sagay said Obasanjo through his attitude to presidents who succeeded him has clearly shown that he is addicted to power and is suffering from power withdrawal syndrome.

“The status of an ex-president is one of quiet dignity, respect, discretion, decorum, discipline and restraint. Obasanjo does not have a single one of these qualities. We have had a number of former heads of state, namely, Gowon, Shagari, Babangida, Abubakar Abdusalami and Jonathan. All of these former heads of state have exercised discretion, restraint and self-discipline in relation to their successors, but not Obasanjo”.

Prince Tony Momoh, a former Minister of Information, came down hard on Obasanjo, describing him as a loser and national nuisance who is abusing freedom of expression.

Momoh, one of the national leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), also said Obasanjo’s recent outburst that President Buhari is behaving like the late head of state, Sani Abacha, and plotting to rig the forthcoming presidential election is exaggerated.

“Looking at Obasanjo, my own take is that he has established himself as the most present former head of state in the history of Nigeria. He is present and vocal in every regime.

“He was present during Shagari’s time, he was present during Buhari’s first coming between 1984 and 1985, he was present during Babangida’s era between 1985 and 1993, he was present during Abacha’s time from 1993 to 1998, he was present during Abdulsalami Abubakar’s time, he was present during his own regime when he worked with Atiku Abubakar, whom he said can never be anything but has now come to be his agent.

“He was present during Umaru Yar’Adua’s time, he was present during Jonathan’s time and he is also present now. So, there is no time he has not shown his presence at any regime and God has given him good health for him to be able to be active”. But looking at his records, he has shown to the average person that he is a loser and unfortunate nuisance. Obasanjo is national nuisance.

“To him, there is no other person apart from Obasanjo. He is very active but wants to continue to be in power when he is no longer in power”, he said.

2 Sisters Arrested For Attempting To Smuggle Drugs Into Kuje Prison With Noodles

Officers of the Kuje Medium Security Prison in the Federal Capital Territory have arrested two sisters for attempting to smuggle substances suspected to be cannabis and Tramadol into the prison premises.

The prime suspect, identified as Miss Blessing Chinwuba, allegedly concealed the prohibited items in a carton of neatly packed noodles, which she wanted to take into the prison.

She was arrested by vigilant officers at the prison’s gate before she could pass the items to an inmate, John Ifeanyichukwu.

This was contained in a statement by the FCT Prisons Service Command spokesman, Humphrey Chukwuedo, on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the prime suspect, who feigned ignorance of the contents of her illegal cargo during interrogation, claimed that the consignment was given to her by her younger sister, Victoria.

Victoria, while corroborating her sibling’s claims, also said she was unaware of the contents of the consignment, which she said she merely collected from a courier service provider.

The two suspects have been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for further investigation and possible prosecution.

General Theophilus Danjuma rtd has raised the alarm of impending plots to use undemocratic ways to rig the 2019 elections. He alleged that there are clandestine moves to cause civil unrest in Taraba with the hope of making the governorship election inconclusive in order to perfect the change of government. Danjuma who alerted voters of the secret plan at the commissioning of medical laboratories in Takum on Tuesday, urged them to guard their votes and avoid all forms of provocation before, during and after the elections. He said “we are in the eve of election and if you want another four years for our able governor, we must work for peace. “Those who do not wish us well will want us to fight ourselves, then they will use soldiers and police to distabilize us and rig the election. “It will be in our best interest to ensure there is peace. We should suffer all provocation because there are going to be plenty between now and the time of election.

“They will provoke you to fight yourselves because they know they will loose if there is a peaceful election.
“I beg everyone of you to help maintain peace so we can have a peaceful election and that there are no surprises and will be no postponement. ” The last time when Darius’s political party was the ruling party, he was made to have run off three times. “This time they have perfected running off. Once you don’t win the first time, the second time, they will sit down and write the result and announce it in the run off. “They will award votes and this is the primitive democracy we now operate in this country.

“It is up to you to guard your votes, secure your votes and make sure that everyone of your votes count and that is when you can have four plus four.” He also cautioned eligible voters from selling their votes to power hungry politicians, saying that “you will be selling your birth right if you agree to their demand.” On his part, Governor Ishaku urged his loyalists to maintain peace by remaining law abiding.

AMCON Seeks Investors for Polaris Bank
Wednesday, January 23, 2019  BUSINESS

The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) is to seek new investors to take over Polaris Bank Limited after elections next month, adding that it is taking stock of the bank’s assets ahead of a sale.

Spokesman for AMCON, Mr. Jude Nwauzor, told Reuters that: “The election season has slowed down things.”

Nigerians will vote on February 16, in a presidential election where incumbent Muhammadu Buhari is seeking a second term.

“We would advertise for expressions of interest from investors after elections and commence the sale process,” Nwauzor said.

Some of Nigeria’s banks have faced tough times since low oil prices put pressure on their business of lending to the oil and gas industry. The country emerged from a recession in 2017, but economic growth remains sluggish and this has weighed on credit growth.

Polaris Bank was set up last year to take over the assets of Skye Bank which collapsed and had its operating licence revoked by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Polaris was then transferred to the state-owned ‘bad bank’ for sale to investors. AMCON has previously sold three other nationalised banks. The AMCON spokesman said the corporation was seeking to recover debts owed to Polaris that were non-performing and had asked for proposals on repayment.

AMCON was set up in 2010 to take on non-performing loans from banks as part of the country’s efforts to resolve a financial crisis at that time.

The police have arrested six persons who allegedly vandalised the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) pipelines at Abule Egba, Lagos.

The Nation learnt that their action resulted in the fire which destroyed buildings and vehicles worth millions of naira last year.

The suspects are Rasak Oyakunle aka Akeregun; Abdulazeez Agboola aka Boggy, 29; Akin Ayansola alias Babalati, 44; Kazeem aka Aladija, 50; Saheed Isiola alias Obama, 36; and Adedipe Dauda Ewenla, 40

Parading the suspects yesterday, Police Commissioner Imohimi Edgal said: “On December 18, 2018, at about 2am, there was a fire outbreak at Isopako Awori in Abule Egba area of Lagos State.

“The fire emanated from the NNPC pipeline that was deliberately ruptured by the vandals in their bid to siphon premium motor spirit (PMS) from the pipe.

“It destroyed 100 houses and 77 vehicles worth millions of naira.

“Following the development, operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja, were detailed to investigate the incident and ensure that the suspects are nabbed.”

He said the operatives were mobilised to the scene and they picked up pieces of evidence for analysis, which led to the arrest of the suspects.

Edgal said during interrogation, Oyakunle confessed to committing the crime and revealed that he owned the generator repair workshop on the spot where the ruptured pipeline was laid.

“Oyakunle confessed that the workshop was located on the spot to enable them siphon fuel undetected,” he said.

Edgal said Ewenla had been declared wanted list the incident.

Don’t drag us into politics, NNPC warns politicians
Wednesday, January 23, 2019  NEW

                          [Image: NNPC-Oil-marketers-to-get-N236bn-600x343.jpg]
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) said yesterday that the ongoing attempts by politicians to drag its name into partisan politics was a potent danger to the corporation’s business interests, contract deals, and MoUs which should ordinarily be insulated from politics.

The corporation, therefore, called on politicians and those canvassing for votes for the impending general elections, to refrain from using NNPC or its top management as cannon fodders for their electioneering strategies.

NNPC spokesman, Mr. Ndu Ughamadu, in a statement in Abuja, said using the corporation as a launchpad for political attacks against opponents was not only a disservice to the overall national interest but also inimical to the national economy, given NNPC’s pivotal role as the cash cow of the nation.

The NNPC spokesperson said the call for restraint by politicians became necessary in the wake of the names of some of its top management being dragged into partisan politics.

20,000 Nigerian Girls Sold To Prostitution Ring, Trafficking Agency Says
Wednesday, January 23, 2019  NEW

                          [Image: 171204002825-nigeria-benin-trafficking-d...ge-169.jpg]
Nigeria's anti-trafficking agency says it has received concrete intelligence that around 20,000 Nigerian girls have been forced into prostitution in Mali.

Many of the girls are working in hotels and nightclubs after being sold to prostitution rings by human traffickers, according to a fact-finding mission carried out by the agency in collaboration with Malian authorities in December.

"The new trend is that they told them they were taking them to Malaysia and they found themselves in Mali. They told them they would be working in five-star restaurants where they would be paid $700 per month," Osakwe, who was part of an earlier NAPTIP rescue mission, said.

Some of the girls had been sold as sex slaves in gold mining camps in northern parts of Mali, he said.

Officials from the agency under Operation Timbuktu rescued 104 Nigerian girls from three brothels in Bamako, Mali's capital in 2011. They were forced to become sex workers in mining communities in northern Mali.
"We brought back 104 girls just from three ramshackle brothels, and those were the ones that were even willing to come. They were mostly between the age of 13 and 25, and they had been trapped in the country for many years," Osakwe said.

"Since then, we have been working with local authorities and receiving reports from the Nigerian embassy in Bamako that the number of Nigerian girls trafficked to Mali has spiked tremendously," he said. The agency said it is working with Malian authorities, the International Organization for Migration and National Emergency Management Agency to send the girls back to Nigeria.

Buhari, APC Planning To Rig Presidential Election - Atiku
Wednesday, January 23, 2019  politics

                           [Image: 8566694_cdatausersdefappsappdatainternet...ad474e558a]
PEOPLE’S Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar yesterday accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of planning to rig the forthcoming general elections.

The former vice president, who spoke at the PDP Southeast rally in Owerri, the Imo State capital, urged the people to protect their votes by staying back at the polling units after casting their votes.

He added that except such measures were taken, the APC would manipulate the election.

He said: “APC is planning to rig the election. Please protect your votes. We have promised to restructure this country. APC is an evil party. They have turned this country as headquarter of poverty.”

He noted that under the APC, Nigeria has been made poorer.

“We are going to take over the country in the next election. Immediately after your vote, stay there and protect your vote. We want the economy to start growing again. We want you to vote PDP at all levels. Let nobody deceive you.”

Atiku went on to describe the APC as an evil party that wants to sink Nigeria, if not stopped.

PDP vice presidential candidate Peter Obi stated that the Southeast will vote for Atiku.

“He is the one to develop Igboland. He has promised us restructuring. He will revamp the economy of Nigeria. Igbo people will vote Atiku Abubakar,” he said.

Senate President Bukola Saraki said: “We have come here to see that the entire Southeast zone is part of the making of Atiku as the next president. Let me tell you, he has the capacity to make Nigeria united. I know that Nigerians are not happy the way it is now. Believe me, Atiku

Godfather Nabbed Alive: Number One Oil Pipeline Marauder Arrested In Lagos
Wednesday, January 23, 2019  NEW

                           [Image: 8566524_screenshot2019012306265115482212...e4b60fc680]
Concerted efforts by the Management of the NNPC and security agencies to combat the menace of oil theft and pipeline vandalism received a major boost with the capture of Shuaibu Ogunmola.

He is an alleged notorious oil pipeline kingpin, whose illegal activities through the years, led to loss of millions of litres of products along the Lagos Atlas Cove strip in the strategic System 2B pipeline network.

Shuaibu was captured recently at his luxury hotel in Ilashe, along the Badagry Creek. He had operated a thriving oil theft racket for decades, hacking pipelines.

The Shuaibu-led syndicate executed their illegal trade by digging boles metres away from the corporation’s products pipeline, which essentially serve as storage tanks for products directly siphoned from the lines at a hack point.

These holes which are cast in drums, receive products simultaneously from the labyrinth of pipelines connected to the trunk line directly linked to the ruptured NNPC line.

The products so harvested are later scoped or transferred into jerrycans and drums and are sold to ready buyers who usually throng the beachside.

From that point, the products were shipped to Coutonou which has a firmly established market for smuggled Nigerian fuel.

The suspect was the ultimate godfather of oil thieves in Ilashe and adjoining settlements, where he consigned portions of his territory and offered operating rights to other thieves to operate and bring in returns at agreed rates and terms.

Investigation revealed that the Ilashe pipeline axis have been divided into three ‘oil fields’ by the criminals under the operating titles of Shuaibu Point, Dele Point and Bashiru Point.

APC Reversed GDP Growth From 6 To 2% – Atiku
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

POLITICSNGR

The Presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar says the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has reversed all the benefits recorded by the PDP including the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) which now grows at two percent instead of six percent.

Atiku made the submission on Tuesday during PDP South East Presidential Zonal Rally in Owerri Imo State.

Addressing a gathering of party supporters, Atiku promised to engage the youths through quality jobs. He advised them against the fake promises of the APC, describing the party as an evil party. He urged them to vote and ensure they defend their votes.

Atiku told the teeming youth who filled the stadium to capacity despite the fact that the State governor is of APC, they will either get employment or business.

Hear him, “We have promised jobs for our young men and women. You either have an employment or business. We will help you set up your businesses. We pledge that we are going to restructure this country. APC is not going to do it.

“Therefore, don’t vote APC. It is an evil party. Since Nigeria’s existence, we have never seen so many young men and women that are unemployed. They have turned this country into the headquarters of poverty in the world.

“They have destroyed our economy. When PDP was in government, we were growing at six percent. Today, we are less than two percent and our population is growing at three percent. Now our people are poor. This is what APC has brought to us.

“We have promised to restore the economy, to get the economy growing again so that there would be prosperity, jobs for all of you” he pledged

Also in his remarks, the Director General of PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, Senator Bukola Saraki said that hye rally is a clear signal that the entire South East has locked down their votes for Atiku.

He said, “This is a rally that is sending a big signal that the entire Southeast, the entire Nigeria is ready for a new president. They are ready for a new President that sabi the work, they are ready for a president that will create jobs for the youths.

“He is ready to lead Nigeria because he has the capacity. He has reserved 40% for you youths. This man will create jobs, he will take care of the youths and he will unite Nigeria.”

Also speaking, the National Chairman of the Party, Prince Uche Secondus stressed that the election is about incompetent and competence, energy and weakness, capacity and incapacity, asking the people to ensure PDP is voted in at all levels.

Highlights of the event was the presentation of PDP governorship flags to the party’s candidates in the five South East states of Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States.

Dignitaries at the rally are: Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu; Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi; his counterpart in Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu; Imo PDP governorship candidate, Emeka Ihedioha; former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Anyim Pius Anyim, serving and former National Assembly members from the zone, among others.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

WEDNESDAY, 23RD JANUARY.

A NEW WAY TO PRAY.

And in that day ye shall ask me nothing… (John 16:23).

Prayer in the New Testament is different from what it was in the Old Testament. In the Old Testament, the people had to make requests of God, so they could receive from Him. They had to ask, because God promised to bless them; He promised to supply their needs. Therefore, on the premise of His promises, they asked in prayer.

He was their Jehovah Jireh; He was the Lord their healer; He was the Lord their banner; He was the Lord their righteousness. This great God of glory made promises, so they took Him to task on His promises.

When Jesus came, because He lived in the old covenant, His teachings were also based on the old covenant. When He taught on prayer, He taught faith to people who were under the Law of Moses, but that’s not the dispensation you live in. Therefore, you really can’t pray as they did and expect the kind of results you ought to be getting as a New Testament person. Prayer has changed.

In the Old Testament, they prayed expecting God to fulfil His promises, but in the New Testament, all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ. 2 Corinthians 1:20 says, “For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.” Today, you don’t have to ask God for things like they did in the Old Testament; you just receive, because all things are yours already (1 Corinthians 3:21-23). Simply walk in the reality of your inheritance and blessed life in Christ.

2 Peter 1:3 says, “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.” Since God already gave us ALL things that we require for life, and to live righteously unto Him, what then are we supposed to be asking for in prayer?

Indeed, prayer in the New Testament isn’t a means of asking God for things. Rather, it’s an avenue for fellowship with the Lord, which in fact, is the highest purpose for prayer.

CONFESSION

I’m an heir of God and a joint-heir with Christ; the world belongs to me. All things work together for my good, because I love the Lord, and I’m called according to His purpose. I reign and rule with Christ, now and evermore. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

1 Corinthians 3:21-23* Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours; 22 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours; 23 And ye are Christ's; and Christ [is] God's.

2 Peter 1:3-4 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that [pertain] unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Matthew 6:25-32 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, [shall he] not much more [clothe] you, O ye of little faith? 31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seekSmile for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

#TALKINGSESSION

23RD JANUARY.

KINDLY SAY THIS WORDS OUT LOUD.

Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for guiding and leading me in the path of your destiny for me this year. I began this year with the confidence and assurance that your wisdom is in my heart and in my mouth, causing me to do your will, every day of this year. I know I cannot be

disadvantaged because the God that does the unimaginable, the unthinkable, and the unexpected has shone in my heart; and as He is, so am I in this world. He has given me the ability to bring forth good from within me and change hopeless situations. For this, I give praise and worship you, glorious Father, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God bless you

INEC Insists Gov Ahmed Remains PDP Candidate For Kwara South But The Gov Says No
User Avatar Forum: News

Quote:RabbleRouser:
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Kwara, Malam Athairu Madami has declared that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) did not make any mistake in listing Gov. Abdulfatah Ahmed as PDP candidate for Kwara South Senatorial district election.

Madami told Newsmen in his office on Tuesday that Ahmed’s name could not be substituted for another person because he did not apply within the stipulated time.

NAN reports that the Governor said on Monday that the Electoral body made a mistake in leaving his name as the Senatorial candidate because he duly applied for the substitution of his name with that of Sen Rafiu Ibrahim.

According to the REC, deadline for substitution and replacement of names expired on Nov 17, 2018, adding that Ahmed sent his application on Dec 3, 2018.
He said INEC wrote to the governor on Dec 31, 2018 rejecting his application on the ground that it was written after the deadline.

“Ahmed remains the candidate of the PDP for Kwara South Senatorial election, his name is duly registered in the form as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

NAN reports that a letter dated Dec 19, 2018 with reference N0: INEC/LEG/PP/19/243 signed by Mrs Rose Oriaran-Anthony, INEC Secretary to the national headquarters of the PDP conveyed the rejection of the substitution of Ahmed’s name.

Part of the letter reads: Please note that withdrawal/substitution of candidate closed on 17 November 2018 in accordance with the timetable and schedule of activities for the 2019 General elections.

“Consequent upon the above, the Commission regrets to inform you that the withdrawal and substitution by your party is clearly outside the timeline and therefore cannot accede to your request,”

According to the REC, the expiration of the timeline for substitution fell on the day of the bye-election in Oke-Ero, Irepodun, Ekiti and Isin Federal Constituency.
He said it was aftermath of the defeat of the PDP at the bye-election that necessitated the substitution of Ahmed’s name with that of the incumbent senator, which he said was already late.

Obasanjo throws his support once again to Atiku. This time around he listed reasons why Atiku will be better than President Mohammadu Buhari as a president.

Obasanjo said, that Atiku will perform better than PMB. That he, Atiku surely understands the economy better.

Obasanjo listed the following:

*Atiku will surely understand the economy better

*He has business experience that can make his administration business friendly and improve the economy and provide jobs for our youths

*He has better outreach nationally and internationally and that can translate to better management of foreign affairs

*He is more accessible and less influence able and more open to all parts of the country in many ways

*And when he becomes the Nigerian president, which insha Allah, you will be, remember what we did together in government. We ran an administration by Nigerians, for all Nigerians, where merit and performance count more than blood relationship, friendship or kit and kin

Just In: NLC Rejects N27,000 Minimum Wage

Quote:The Nigeria Labour Congress has rejected the N27,000 new national minimum wage adopted by the National Council of States on Tuesday.

The NLC Secretary-General, Dr. Peter Ozo-Eson, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja.

According to him, the council has no jurisdiction determining another amount after a Tripartite Committee had submitted its report.

“It is abysmal of government to be delaying the submission of an Executive Bill to the National Assembly and by wrongfully adopting N27,000 through the council of states,” he said.

However, Ozo-Eson said the NLC has scheduled an emergency National Executive Council meeting for Friday to weigh on the deadline given to government within which to submit an executive bill to the National Assembly.

The NLC scribe added that the Federal Government was only projecting a shutdown of the economy with its latest action.

“This is because workers should not be held responsible for any development after its NEC meeting on Friday,’’ he said.

A young lady allegedly stripped unclad and ran mad at the Abkpa area of Enugu, Tuesdays after she dropped from a public bus at Texaco filling station. On waiting to get another bus that will take her to Obiagu, she started stripping herself.

According to passersby, they claimed the young lady must have been used for some money rituals.

The lady was captured on camera roaming on the streets utterly unclad, as people were taking pictures and videos of her around 9:00am.

According to one Repented who posted the video, narrated the story as thus:

"Car dropped her at Texaco, she entered Obiagu bus, boom she tear cloth come jump climb on top the bus. That's how she has been twerking nak*d

Atiku Going To USA Is Like a Yahoo Guy Looking For New Victims - Keyamo
[Image: Atiku_Abubakar_Arrives.jpg]
Festus Keyamo, Director of Strategic Communications of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, has described Atiku Abubakar‘s US visit as a catastrophe.

The former vice president and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate had visited the US on Thursday, January 17, accompanied by the Senate President Bukola Saraki.

Keyamo, in a statement released through The Will Nigeria, said the trip exposes Atiku as “one with a questionable character.”

Read the full statement:

In our press release issued on Sunday, December 30, 2018, titled “WHEN THE THIEF IS SHOUTING THIEF”: THE CASE OF ALHAJI ATIKU ABUBAKAR”, we correctly predicted as follows: “By running for President of Nigeria, Atiku intends to get some immunity from prosecution. Already he is hoping to obtain a visa to visit the US, as a guest of the State department, a concession that the US will grant to a Presidential candidate of Africa’s biggest Nation”.

Therefore, we were not surprised by his visit to the U.S. For us, this visit is really a non-event considering the issues involved in the forthcoming election. However, we have bad news for those who think this is a momentous event for Atiku Abubakar: the visit was nothing but a downright catastrophe because rather than dispel the fact of indictments hanging over his head, it further confirms and reinforces those facts for the following reasons:

(1) The visit had all the trappings of a fugitive sneaking into America under a “special diplomatic waiver”. For the candidate of the major opposition party in Nigeria, it is an absolute disaster that the visit was not announced ahead of time in Nigeria, with his programmes and itinerary clearly spelt out, the decent and customary minimum standard of such visits. This culminated in his close aides issuing conflicting statements about the visit when he was already on his way there. In fact, one of them called Paul Ibe actually spoke to the Press that his principal was nowhere near America! Such was the secrecy of the planning and execution of that visit.

(2) It is shameful that a presidential candidate of a major opposition party in Africa’s most populous country would visit America, and the international press was kept in the dark: There was NO SINGLE press conference with the array of international media and correspondents required for such ‘high-profile’ visit. Atiku knows he has no moral stamina to withstand the avalanche of hard questions bordering on his sordid past in America. In fact, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar claims he visited the Voice of America (VOA) but only did two carefully-packaged interviews with the Hausa service and the English to Africa program – platforms that have always been available to him back home. How strange! In fact, both the Twitter handle (@VOANews) and official website of VOA did not mention any such visit of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to their station. For news hounds, you would agree with us that such an ‘important personality’ cannot walk into a news premises without reporters swooping on him. Whatever he went to do in the premises of the VOA must have been a carefully-arranged private visit for the photo-ops, which was intended to scam Nigerians. What more evidence do we need of a “sneak-in-sneak-out” arrangement than this?.

(3) For a candidate who claims he wants to “get Nigeria working again” (a meaningless phrase) to sneak into America without meeting major players in private businesses is a curiosity and an indication that we are dealing with a candidate with a dodgy and questionable character. He claims he went to the U.S Chamber of Commerce, which is supposed to be a business federation. Again, the Twitter handle (@USChamber) and the website of the organization make no mention of the visit of such an ‘important personality’ to them. Maybe their famous American lobbyist on a salary of N9million per month can help them ‘do something’ about this after this press statement.

(4) It is also an anomaly that the candidate of the major opposition party in Nigeria sneaked into America and did not meet large sections of political leaders of similar ideologies and persuasions towards which he claims to be inclined. For all his claim to be going to America to meet “U.S Government officials”, he only succeeded in meeting a certain “Congressman Smith”, who is the equivalent of a member of the House of Representatives in Nigeria. You would agree with us that as dignified and respected as the office of a Member of the House of Representatives is, an important personality cannot come to Nigeria on an official visit and claim he has met the “Nigerian government officials” after he pays a private visit to that Member. For all we know, the Congressman Smith may just be a private friend of Dr. Bukola Saraki or Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. That reminds us of Atiku’s famous legislator friend he threw under the bus, Williams Jefferson, who taught us how to hide laundered money ( which was meant for Atiku Abubakar) in the deep freezer when the cops came knocking on his door!

In all, it is very obvious now that the so-called American trip was a desperate trip for photo-ops. Throughout the trip, Atiku Abubakar looked cagey, frightened and on edge. We note the close support always provided by Senate President Bukola Saraki like a comforting guardian angel. The visit and arrangements smack of things local yahoo yahoo boys do to scam their victims. It is utterly disgusting and puerile that it has been brought into a serious political contest.

Rather than being the highpoint of his campaign, the American visit is indeed the lowest watermark of Atiku Abubakar’s campaign. It was a political and P.R disaster. The statements he released from there only to the Nigerian Press back home that he intends to alienate other countries and do business with the U.S is actually the antithesis to our policy of non-alignment.

For the information of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his handlers, Nigerians know that Nigeria is already working again for everyone and not for a few. As confirmed by him in a town-hall meeting a few days before his disastrous trip to the U.S, he said he wants to “get Nigeria working again” only for few of his friends who he claims he wants to make rich. If he cannot get them rich now from his private businesses, it is obvious that he is referring to the use of public funds to make his friends rich. Nigerians should judge for themselves whether this is the type of President they want.

Finally, whoever advised Atiku Abubakar to undertake that trip to America just destroyed his entire campaign and exposed him for who he is – a questionable character who has continued to leave huge questions over his suitability for the highest office of the land and as such cannot be trusted by the Nigerian people.

Story Of How Nigeria's Most Notorious Fraudster,Ade Bendel Landed In 6yr-jail Term

Story Of How Nigeria's Most Notorious Fraudster,Ade Bendel Landed In 6yr-jail Term After Atrocities
[Image: ekBfEvO.jpg]
An infamous Nigerian fraudster, Ade Bendel, swindled the high and the mighty in Nigeria and abroad.

- He lived a glamorous life, displaying wealth he fraudulently acquired from great and mighty Nigerians

However, he was highly connected to the extent that whenever he was arrested, he had his way out of police custody within a matter of days

I was walking from Koka junction in Asaba to flag down a taxi to Summit junction when this young fellow met me asking for Ebony Park. I simply told him I hadn’t heard of such and directed him to meet the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) official who was standing by the road.

Rather than approach the official, he tried to initiate a conversation about his container of ‘pure gold’ jewelries and accessories which ought to be released but was being held by the Nigerian customs, and how he needed a business partner who would provide the cash needed to release the ‘tied down’ goods.

At this point in his discussion, I had already lost interest, having heard of such experiences from others. However, as I turned to flag down the coming taxi, I turned to take a second look at him and after assessing his shabby dressing, a thought ran through my mind “this guy is not professional at all. Who will believe his gold story with this kind of dressing?”

This is a type of the many fraudster syndicates operating in Nigeria. They operate in diverse forms and many people have fallen victim to their antics. When one recalls such men and women, one would feel the shivers run through the spine. Not talking about the everyday fraudsters roaming the streets who come up with different stories to take the little ‘change’ from the market woman or average men.

But the ‘deal guys,’ the ones with the connections to all the high and mighty, the ones who dress and socialize with the elites, frolicking and rollicking with the crème de la crème, attending the classiest parties and organizing same to host others.

These are advanced international criminals, who are being sought after by both the local and foreign..

Criminal bodies; not ordinary men who defraud poor people but strong men who actually go for the big fishes, the sharks and whales in the ocean. With such qualifiers, a lot of names run through the mind. One of which is definitely Adedeji Alumile Ademiluyi Elumalu, aka Ade Bendel. He was what is today refer to as ’Yahoo boy.’

This high profile fraudster whose activities joined with those of his likes, almost shattered the Nigerian business image on the international scene from 1992 till the early 2000s. He became so renowned in the fraud industry that he was tagged by some as the grandfather of fraudsters. Born in Ibadan, Oyo state in 1966, he hails from Ihievbe in Owan east local government area of what is known today as Edo state.

For some unknown reasons, he never finished his primary education and went to Lagos at a young age in search of greener pastures as he always nursed the dream of hitting it big someday and needed to make the someday come sooner. Information on the kind of jobs he did in those early years is not clear, but by 1992, he had well found his way into the 419 business, rising to the top of the ladder by 1994, even when fellow fraudsters and drug dealers were experiencing drought in their deals.

His jar of oil refused to run dry and he continued to hit one juicy deal after the other. Unlike some other criminals who choose to live modest and inconspicuous lifestyles, Ade Bendel was the type who loved to spend and flaunt for the world to see.

This attitude attracted the attention of the government of the day, and he became a regular detainee at the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) which was then led by General Musa Bamaiyi; and was still regularly being arrested even after he told them plainly that he was a ‘deals man’ not a drug lord. He subsequently left the country for a while but later returned to Ibadan. In his usual extravagant ways, he purchased a gigantic edifice in Ibadan and sought to have the street named after him, but was declined.

In 1997, he ran into trouble again when he was arrested by the Federal Criminal Investigations Bureau (FCIB), Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos, based on a petition made by a victim..

After pulling some strings again, he was free to go and this time, he hit even bigger deals, so big that he conveniently procured a twin duplex in the enviable Victoria Garden City (VGC), making an upfront payment of N25 million with ease. He went ahead to buy two other buildings on the island which he used as his ‘consultancy offices’ after converting his previous residence at Adeniyi Jones Avenue to a guest house.

His victims were not in any way confined to the shores of the country, nor were they restricted to the low and middle-class citizens. He defrauded monarchs, religious leaders, men of the paramilitary, business men, contractors and other ‘heavy duty’ personnel across the globe.

He once hit a Muslim cleric, Sheikh Abdul-Jabar Balogun. When General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida was the military president, he was said to have patronized a number of spiritualists and marabouts who advised him and prayed to keep him in power. This Sheikh was one of them, and no doubt, was well paid for the services rendered. However, when Ade Bendel finished with him, he found it hard to pick his pieces back together.

The Sheikh had wanted to purchase a ship and consulted a friend who was also friend with Ade Bendel. Based on the referral, Ade Bendel became the middleman who would help purchase the ship, and convincingly talked Abdul-Jabar into paying N70 million which he was later told would be insufficient to get the ship. Having no more money to continue, Ade Bendel further sweet-talked him into helping him sell his cars to come up with the money. After parting with 15 cars, the Alfa was not even privileged to see a broken part of a ship washed ashore, and this very nearly pushed him to the edge of dementia. Ironic, though, that a man who could see the future for Babangida and pray against evil happenings, could not do same for himself.

On the international scene, this seasoned fraud defrauded a retired general in the Egyptian armed forces, Abdel Azim Attia, of over $605,000 (about N97 million) in 2003. According to Abiyamo, a Nigerian blogger, the poor general said that he met Ade Bendel in Saudi Arabia and he took him as a good Muslim brother that he could..

Do business with. Ade Bendel (who reportedly posed as Dr. Ibrahim Ahmed) sold the idea of a phony agricultural venture to the retired general who was enticed by promises of profits of half a billion dollars, once he invested in the deal. The 65-year-old General initially paid $300,000 to his ‘business partners’ and he was shocked with the speed with which the money vanished.

They went ahead to tell him that in order for him to get his $500 million transferred into his account, he had to pay the balance $200,000 for the transfer to be facilitated, which he paid. By the time the scales fell off his eyes, the general had already been duped of close to N100 million. Unable to stomach it anymore, he filed the petition which interestingly led to the case that eventually had Ade Bendel jailed.

He was arrested in May 2003 and charged alongside one Chief Olafemi Ayeni (aged 43 in October 2003, hails from Ilesha, Osun state) who claimed to own a global company called Worldwide that was in charge of United States currency. It was said that when Ade Bendel and Ayeni got to Attia’s office, they said they would need some money to buy some chemicals to wash the security covers from the notes in the box and Attia partly gave them money to buy the so-called chemicals only for him to realize later that there were no chemicals and he had been cheated. The Egyptian general too was in court and he lavished praises on the EFCC and the court for a job well done. Ade Bendel had pleaded not guilty but later amended the plea and pleaded guilty with an agreement with the EFCC to refund the money.

As if to prove that gullibility cuts across borders and profession, Ade Bendel also took to the drycleaners a retired brigadier general of the Nigerian army and the former governor of the old North-Central state, Abba Kyari, in 1999. From this gullible general, Ade Bendel became N500 million richer. General Kyari was brainwashed into accepting to be part of a wonderful business opportunity that would soon spin billions of profits only if he would invest. Of course, the higher his investments, the higher his share of the profits. The general then proceeded to..

invest half a billion naira, and crossed his legs in his house calmly waiting for the promised profits.

After waiting for a while, with nothing to show for it, he realised too late, that he had been conned. By that time, Ade Bendel was already all over the town spreading the largesse around. At a naming ceremony at the residence of one of his friends in Iyana Ipaja in Lagos state, he obliterated the host when he started spraying money with reckless abandon. After all, there will always be more greedy people to swindle, people who wish to reap where they did not sweat, people looking for easy gains.

The bewildered Kyari could not blow the whistle, as he was ashamed as to how the nation would view such legendary stupidity and greed. He went to his closet and licked his wounds in private, sinking into depression as he did. This was until one of his friends went to the Special Fraud Unit of the Nigeria police force and filed a report on his behalf. In the usual pattern, Ade was man-hunted, arrested, interrogated, and set free after a couple of days. After his release, he went on a brief leave, keeping a relatively low profile for the next couple of weeks.

Warri indigenes were not left out of the whole defrauding business. In 1998, two rich and influential Warri indigenes were turned ‘mugu’ by Ade Bendel. One of them owned a plastic industry and was coerced into paying Ade Bendel a sum of N11 million for a sketchy and very vague ‘lucrative’ business transaction which never materialized after the payment was made. Compared to his kinsman, he was indeed lucky, as the second one was swindled out of a heart-breaking sum of N250 million.

While hitting these big deals, Ade was also doing running smaller shows on the side, shows that fetched him paltry sums in the range of N5-10 million. He indeed ‘diversified his economy and internationalized his dastardly trade. He would promise unsuspecting but greedy foreigners of incredibly lucrative investment deals in Nigeria. He sent fake letters that proclaimed his high connections and abilities to land any deal in oil-rich Nigeria.

Throughout this ‘brilliant career’ of his, Ade Bendel was praised to the highest..

heavens by Nigerian musicians and entertainers. In their usual pattern of singing the praises in exchange for a few notes, no one really cared to know what he had done to deserve the eulogy. They were not in any way disappointed as he sprayed them in all currencies. When the burial ceremony was done of his maternal grandfather on the 12th of December, 1999, he threw a party that would shame even the world’s richest men.

Barely 35 as at then, he stormed the small town in a braggadocios style confident that his vault could not run dry. He shipped some of the best musicians from Lagos, including his longtime entertainer, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, Daddy Showkey, the galala crooner from Ajegunle, Shina Peters, the Afro Juju exponent and Wale Thompson who was then an upcoming artiste. For all seven musicians, the ‘chicken feed’ sum of N5 million naira was set aside to pamper them. They were all to set to paint the small town red with some of the ‘baddest’ automobiles on the ‘sickest’ wheels.

When it was entertainment time, Ade Bendel and his friends did not ‘disgrace’ the entertainers with the Nigerian naira. On the dance floor, they brought shame to the British pound sterling and the American dollar as they rained these foreign currencies endlessly.

But as the high-spirited Ade Bendel danced on, others joined in the frenzy but the strange thing was that no one knew or could point to any particular business that had brought the son of the soil so much money. No one cared to know. As for the good people of Ihievbe, all that mattered was that they had a son who was very ‘successful’ in Lagos.

To provide the rentals was Laurie B Rentals, also based in Lagos. They were to handle the tents, canopies, tables, chairs and food to be consumed by the high-class guests expected at the event. The hospitality outfit had to roll in a whole freezer truck all the way from Lagos, full of all kinds of drinks, from juices to wines. Ade Bendel shelled out a kingly sum of N60 million for that aspect alone. Laurie B Rentals no doubt hit the jackpot that day.

Being a lover of cars, as at 2000, his garage was stocked with the best of Rolls Royces, Jaguars, Lexus jeeps.⬇⬇

Lincoln Navigators, Cherokee jeeps, Mercedes Benz and Nissan Pathfinders. And whenever he moved around town, he did so in a convoy of at least seven cars. He was particularly in love with a metallic-grey 1999 Jaguar.

His own personal security was made up of battle-ready men from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), which ironically, was an anti-crime agency owned by the Lagos state government. Oh yes, he was that flamboyant. He was even said to have given a car gift worth an estimated N3 million naira to an old friend of his whom he stumbled into while he went to buy a Mercedes Benz of N11 million for himself.

However, a time came for his sun to set, and in September 2000 after President Olusegun Obasanjo declared war on all 419ers (fraudsters and advance fee fraud scammers); he was arrested by the International Police (INTERPOL) and slammed behind bars at the Ikoyi Prison, Lagos where he chilled off in cell. Later, he was whisked to Abuja.

According to Naijaarchives, he was arrested due to the relentless petitions filed to the presidency by foreigners, particularly American businessmen who had gotten more than a bountiful dose of Ade Bendel’s bitter pills. As at 2000, Americans had lost about $10 billion to Nigerian con artists like Ade Bendel and the US government was not taking the issue lightly with Aso Rock.

Before his arrest, he had just successfully ‘washed and dried’ a retired military officer of a princely sum of N14 million; he was dragged to court which ordered that he be remanded in jail but he agreed to refund the money to the officer. After many years of disturbing the peace of the society and escaping numerous times, the long arm of the law caught up with him and in December, 2003, a high court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos sentenced him to six years imprisonment.
The judge, Justice Mufutau Olokooba who described Ade Bendel as an embarrassment to the nation had said that the penalty was not only meant to punish him but to deter the younger generation from imitating such acts. If one were to judge on the current prevalence of the trend, the conclusion would be that the penalty was either too light, or the young ones simply refused to be deterred.

He eventually served out his term at the Kirikiri maximum prison where he was locked up in a private cell at block 2, and according to Abiyamo, while in prison, he was never far from a copy of the Holy Bible and claimed that he was visited by a spirit from high above and that he was becoming a ‘born-again’ Christian.

He was also reported to have run a small ‘church’ inside the prison where he spread the gospel to other inmates and was even said to have become a sudden philanthropist feeding his other inmates. Unconfirmed stories had earlier stated that in 2002 before his final arrest, he had told his friends that he was leaving the business for good since the Holy Spirit has ‘arrested’ him after attending a church service.

As if to prove himself genuine, upon his release, he went ahead to organize various religious crusades with Nigerian entertainers like Dbanj where he preached to those who cared enough to listen to his brand of the gospel. In his first major crusade on the 24th of March, 2008 at the Eleko Beach in Lagos, he narrated how he met God while in prison. He declared that he was now a pastor and how old things were now passed away. It was rumored that some people had even shed tears at his ‘testimonies’ of conversion at Terra Kulture where he held a press conference. Let’s call him lucky, because unlike many others, he did get a second chance to change.

After his publicly displayed change, it was therefore a surprise to many when in 2013, Ade Bendel was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in a public notice signed by the EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren. The case concerned was that of criminal conspiracy and obtaining the sum of $7,855,500 and N3,000,000 from a Nigerian while serving a jail term at the Kirikiri maximum security prison, Lagos.

Lawyer Shot Dead After Withdrawing Money From Bank In Bayelsa (PHOTOS)

The death of a lawyer led to a protest by his colleagues earlier today in Bayelsa. The protesting lawyers agitated against the killing of one of their colleagues by armed robbers in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital.

The deceased, Pumokumo Abel Ozi, a member of the Human Right Committee (HRC), in the state, was brutally killed by suspected armed robbers on January 16.

Ozi was gunned down in broad daylight at Opolo along the Mbiama-Yenagoa road, a few meters from the Police Area Command.

The assailants were said to have followed him from a bank where he went to withdraw money and opened fire on him when he refused to honour their order to open his car.

The Marauders were said to have also shot his drive and the two other occupants of the car and snatched N2million he withdrew from the bank.

Angry at the development, practising lawyers in the state under the aegis of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Yenagoa and Sagbama branches, marched the streets demanding justice for their colleague.

Dressed in black attire, the aggrieved lawyers took their complaints to the offices of the Commissioner of Police and the State Director of Department of State Services (DSS). They bemoaned rising insecurity in Bayelsa especially in Yenagoa, the state capital, saying the security agencies were not doing enough.
The lawyers urged security agencies to uncover the circumstances that led to the killing of Gberigbe colleagues and bring the hoodlums to justice.

The Chairman of the NBA, Yenagoa, Branch, Clement Buruboyefe, said the protest was against the general insecurity in the state including the killing of their colleague.

He said: “As a body we had an emergency meeting and agreed that we would embark on a peaceful solemn protest to register our sadness over the death of our colleague and the state of insecurity in Bayelsa state in general.
“The purpose is to call on all security agencies, not just the police, but other stakeholders in the security of the state to beef up security, not just Yenagoa, but Bayelsa in general. “We have also pointedly called on the police to investigate and apprehend the killer of our colleague and bring them to book”.

R. Kelly's estranged daughter talks about what life is like in the sex 'cult' house and insists she still 'loves' her dad
[Image: 5c45cf21b6ed3.PNG]
R. Kelly's estranged daughter, who called him out in a lengthy rant earlier this month (read here), has revealed that she was struggling to deal with the pain her father has caused but that she still loves him.

Joann Kelly made her first TV appearance on Good Morning Britain alongside her mother and R.Kelly's ex-wife Andrea Kelly, aka Drea. During the show, Joann explained what life was like growing up inside the sex 'cult' house.

Kelly, 52, reportedly set up a cult of young women, whom he brainwashed, kept hostage for his sexual satisfaction, and abused.
For years, R. Kelly has been accused of sexual misconduct by several women but he keeps denying it. But after the Lifetime docuseries 'Surviving R. Kelly' aired, the world began to give more attention to the accusations.
Speaking of the allegations against her father, Joann said:

I am very torn at the end of the day he is still family and he is still my blood and yes I still love my father.

Joann added:

It is very hard to digest. As a lot of people know as far as the reaction to what is happening that he is still my father.
It is a hard situation. My heart is torn into two separate places.
I don’t want to confirm or deny anything that these women have said about my father.
As I have said I know him he is my father and I grew up in that house with my father. I spent years in that house it is very painful.
It is painful to see all these people affected by this man who is my father.

Speaking to Piers Morgan and co-host Sussana Reid, Joann said she hasn't seen her father for a few years and added that he has made no efforts to contact her.

She said:

At the end of the day you have to be responsible for your actions. If my father is a toxic person then we have to love him from a distance.
There is no love lost and I have to separate myself.

Joann's mother Drea explained that during her marriage to R Kelly she saw two different sides to him. She said that he opened up to her about childhood abuse that he suffered and how he had experienced domestic violence.
She explained:

He perpetrated so much misery on to so many young women and girls. I do not portray sympathy I portray understanding.
I am a firm believer that if you have been abused, it does not give you a free pass to be an abuser.

She added:

It is devastating. I sit here as a survivor and a mother to his children. It is a difficult position for me to be in but being a mother to his children I could not not say anything.

Drea also claimed that he abused her and she opened up about it as she did on the documentary.
She said:

My truth is what I survived he was abusive to me verbally, physically and sexually and now he is financially abusing me.
I can only speak to my story and ring true to what I know, and something has to be done.

Piers added that GMB had reached out to R Kelly's lawyer, who has claimed Drea's allegations are completely unfounded and 'without merit'.

Manny Pacquiao suffers eye problem after defeating Adrien Broner and his Los Angeles

Manny Pacquiao suffers eye problem after defeating Adrien Broner and his Los Angeles home also got burglarized
[Image: 5c464da7eab64.JPG]
Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao might have suffered a potentially career-ending detached retina in his left eye in beating Adrien Broner on Saturday.

Pacquiao was set to fly home to the Philippines on Monday for an exam by an eye specialist, according to the New York Daily newspaper, which cited two unidentified sources from Pacquiao’s camp with different takes on the injury. The 40-year-old fighter told friends after the fight he had lost some vision in his left eye, according to the report.

Pacquiao came to the postfight news conference wearing dark glasses but never mentioned the injury. When Pacquiao returned to a home he owns in Los Angeles on Sunday, he discovered it had been burglarized.

Quote:"They think it happened on fight night. They're gathering information and taking inventory and the police are investigating. It's an upsetting situation. They don't know what's been stolen, if anything"  Sternburg said.
Pacquiao lives in the Philippines, where he is a senator, and has not spent much time at his Los Angeles home since 2016, according to Gibbons. One of Pacquiao's aunts lives there and serves as its caretaker.

"The burglars basically went in and ransacked the senator's bedroom. It seems like they found nothing and then they bailed," Gibbons said. Pacquiao is scheduled to return to the Philippines this week but plans to attend the Los Angeles Lakers-Golden State Warriors game on Monday night at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Again, Oshiomhole Urges Buhari To Probe Obasanjo
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 01-22-2019, 10:48 AM - No Replies

Quote:Onyebuchi Ezigbo in Abuja

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has again called on President Muhammadu Buhari to investigate former President Olusegun Obasanjo for the alleged misdeeds during his tenure.

He said Nigerians should hold the former president responsible for 65 per cent of the problems that have bedeviled the country in recent times, since he superintended over the affairs of the country for 13 years.

Addressing the party’s presidential campaign rally in Yobe State, yesterday, Oshiomhole accused Obasanjo of allegedly bribing legislators during his tenure.

Oshiomhole said: “President Obasanjo ruled the country for 13 years, so whatever are the sins of Nigeria, Obasanjo carries 65 per cent of the burden of that sin. He introduced corruption to the National Assembly giving every senator N100 million, and House of Representatives N50 million.

“Where did he get that money from? Mr. President, in the name of Almighty God, you have a duty when you are re-elected; you have a duty to use this broom. We know it will be shorter, and you know the shorter the more effective it will be. You must find answers, with all due respect, to the mismanagement that Chief Obasanjo did,” he said.

Oshiomhole who also addressed the party faithful in Hausa, said Obasanjo was exhibiting desperation because he was afraid of his betrayal having seen the turnout everywhere President Buhari has gone for campaign.

He also alleged that Obasanjo and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were jittery that the president has been able to withstand the rigour of campaigns and has pulled large crowd at every rally.

According to him, Obasanjo and his PDP collaborators believe that the President Buhari will not be able to campaign.

“They said the president is not campaigning when he said that Bola Tinubu will lead the campaigns.

“As a matter of a man of honour, he said Asiwaju you will lead my campaign, which is just a statement of modesty, acknowledging that there are other parties.

“They said he should come out, lead it by himself. When he decided to lead the campaigns, they said that everyday he is campaigning,” the APC chairman said.

On his part, President Buhari used the opportunity to thank the people of Yobe State for supporting his election in 2015, noting that he had fulfilled the promise made to reduce the cost of fertiliser to enable farmers improve on their productivity.

The president cautioned that the federal government will not tolerate any attempt to hoard or sell fertiliser above approved price.

Buhari who spoke to an excited crowd of party supporters who thronged the Yobe Township Stadium also vowed to deal with those engaged in smuggling of food stuffs, particularly rice.

After the Federal Government and ASUU had a close door meeting which lasted for 4 hours today. The President of ASUU, Biodun Ogunyemi has told Journalists that the meeting has ended and there are some areas needed to be address.

He said, “We have not suspended the strike, the discussion will continue at a later date. We are going back to our members for further consultation. FG gave us reaction to our proposals but there were still grey areas that we are trying to sort out.

“Before the strike can be suspended, the most critical area that FG must address is revitalization. It is central to our academic work, unless that area is addressed, our members will still have issues. We are not demanding for N50bn, we are saying that the minimum that FG can release to reactivate revitalization fund is N50bn.”

Meanwhile, the Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige said the government have agree to meet up with the demands of the Union and waiting for ASUU Leadership for another meeting.

The Minister also added, “We did not take a long time than we anticipated. We have other commitments but the important thing is that we have made substantial progress. We have reached some agreements in seven areas. Most of the issues have been resolved but ASUU will need to consult its members and come with what they think.

Buhari Promises Youths Ministerial Slots If Re-elected’
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 01-22-2019, 10:32 AM - No Replies

Quote:Tony Nwoye, Director of Youth Mobilisation, All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Campaign Council, says youths will be heads of Ministries and Prastatals if President Muhammadu Buhari is re-elected.

Mr Nwoye stated this on Monday in Abuja at a news conference to launch a nationwide campaign for Buhari’s re-election in Abuja.

He said the nationwide youth mobilisation campaign was targeted at convincing Nigerian youths and students that they could trust Buhari.

This, he said, was especially so, based on the positive youth development credentials of President Muhammadu Buhari from 2015 to date.

Mr Nwonye, who is also a member of the House of Representatives, said he had secured the commitment of President Buhari to change the involvement of youths in his administration when re-elected.

He further said that youths in the country were committed to mobilising and giving President Buhari over 20 million votes in the coming elections.

This, he said, would ensure a landslide victory for Buhari in the presidential election slated for Feb. 16.

The director also said that he had embarked on a nationwide consultation with youths, engaging them on the need to vote massively for Buhari in the coming election.

“During the over one week of non-stop nationwide consultations that l spearheaded, I became convinced that Nigerian youths deeply appreciate the improved regime of youth development and empowerment under Buhari from 2015.

“The polity is ready for Buhari-Osinbajo 2019 if only the leadership team is ready to take its youth development programme to the Next Level of higher youth inclusion in leadership and the economy.

“Upon this realisation, I and my assistants and deputies came back to Abuja to consult with President Buhari,“he said.

He added that he got the commitment of the president after consulting with him for two days.

Mr Nwonye stressed that President Buhari was poised to take his youth development programmes to the `Next Level’ of higher youth inclusion in leadership.

This, he said, the president would do through: ” a youth quota in the headship of Ministries, Departments, Agencies and other policies.”

“After extracting these commitments from Mr President, the

directorate quickly reverted to the leadership of Nigerian youths and had regional consultations and engagements.

“There upon, the youths and students of Nigeria and the directorate agreed that Nigerian youths will deliver an avalanche of over 20 million votes to Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo,” he said.

He maintained that youths had resolved to support Buhari despite attempts by some would be detractors to blackmail his administration based on sentiments that had no grounding in our national reality.

He noted that the record of visible and impactful poverty alleviation strategies, such as the Traders’ Money Scheme which had empowered over 350,000 Medium and Small Scale Businesses across the country was enormous.

He listed the national School Feeding Programme, the Anchor Borrowers Programme which had added over three million metric tonnes to annual food supply as some other achievements of the Buhari administration.

Others he said were the N-Power Volunteers Scheme which had recruited 500,000 graduates and the N-Build category which had so far trained over 10,000 non-graduates in vocational skills in 23 states of the federation.
