[Image: Toyin-Abraham-opens-up-on-dating-Yemi-Os...00x400.jpg]
She made this known while putting a fan in her place earlier today on Instagram.
In her message of congratulations to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who narrowly escaped death, a fan had asked if she was dating the rich Vice President.

Toyin had quickly retorted that she is a hardworking woman who is contented with her own wealth.

“Ask around, I don’t date for money, I date for love” the actress said, burying speculations that she is involved with the pastor cum politician.

Chapter 1

Bismillah!
Majnoon was lying down on her medium sized bed reading Hausa novel ( Tana tare da
ni) she is so much enjoying the novel that she keeps smiling to herself, then suddenly she noticed that her standing fan is turning and she said "ah finally they have decided to pity us by giving us light, this NEPA people na wah!" she plug her phone to charge then she left her room to the parlour to watch Zee world program, when she tuned on Zee world channel, Twist of faith was playing, she sighed and kept wondering when will Abbi &
Pragya ever be happy together!.
Twenty minutes into the program she heard salam at the door and she answered, its her friend Yusrah they were so excited to see each other, where is mum and dad asked Yusrah, well mum is in her room while dad is at work, okay let me go and greet her and get yourself prepared there is lots of gist. After a while Yusrah came back to the parlour to meet Majnoon.
Majnoon you and this Abbi and Pragya I no understand oo!,Majnoon laughed and said you know it's interesting that's why I love watching the program, yeah true but I just got feed up with the whole twist in the program and that Tanu and Aliya I hate them with passion ah! so tiresome. So bestie you said there is gist, yep but let go to your room,Majnoon I love your room so much that's why each time am here,i prefer staying in your room, the pink walls, purple wardrobe and bed woods, sky blue table and chair for reading, its so girly.
Majnoon just rolled her eyes at her, thanks for the compliment, you say this almost every visit so just go ahead and gist me.Am getting married on the 20th of this month here are the two anco. like seriously! Yusrah you just 19yrs for god sake.
Hmm! Majnoon you know how my dad can be with decisions,he said I have to get married before furthering my education to higher institution, woah! okay I understand but I know you don't have any boyfriend on board to get married to,the guy you want to get married to who is he? or wait don't tell me is that mechanic guy you told me about, that he confessed his feelings to you ?,you are so funny Majnoon like seriously I don't love him anyways.
The guy am getting married to is a son to one of my dad's friend, his name is Ismail and he is a medical doctor,he is working at Comprehensive Primary Health Care Ayaura street in this Abaji,i have his pic in my phone let me show you, here it is!, ? OMG! this guy is looking so breathe taking, yeah true,i was sad about the marriage issue when my dad told me about it but now am okay because I don't have choice, besides Ismail is a nice guy and my parents won't choose someone irresponsible for me.
Ismail and I met and I told him that I will like to further my education after marriage and he accepted.
Wow! that's a relief because am worried about that,Majnoon you have to buy the two Anco. the orange material is for the wedding party at Abaji town hall by 4pm on the 19th(i.e Friday) while the sky blue Vlisco is for the wedding day, oops! don't worry sweetheart you know I love this colours I will definitely buy the two Anco.
Now tell me about this Ismail, well he is handsome, gentle, lively, funny and romantic said Yusrah, its like someone is already so much in love with Mr handsome I can see you blushing, ooh! stop Majnoon am not blushing ?(they continued with their argument)
He is lucky to have you as his wife because I know you will make a good wife and am really going to miss you so very much. Don't worry Majnoon me and Ismail will be staying here in Abaji at Sabon Tasha street, that is amazing bestie, have you shown the Anco. to the rest of the royal fairies, yes I snapped the Anco. and posted it in the Royal fairies group in the morning and I will also go to their houses.Okay nice, let me get going before my mummy starts buzzing my phone with calls said Yusrah am sorry I didn't even offer you something to eat or drink,i just couldn't think straight after you told me that you are getting married,am not a guest here when I need anything I will get it myself, let me get going.Okay let me see you off they walked out of the house having their girly chat.
Yusrah stays at Ashara street while Majnoon stays at Onah street, when Majnoon got to Old market street (which is in between Ashara street & Onah street) she bid her friend goodbye promising to visit her soon.
While Majnoon was on her way home a guy called out her name seeking her attention, but she pretended as if she is not the person the guy is referring to,the fair, tall and handsome guy jogged after her begging her to stop that he really wants to talk to her,Majnoon was very annoyed but she had to stop since he is begging her.
Yes! what is it? said Majnoon,am sorry please, my name is Haisam I have been seeing you for quite a while now and honestly speaking the first time I saw you I liked you but unknowingly to me it turned into love,i love so much Majnoon I really do,i promise you if you will give me the chance to love you I will prove it to you that I sincerely mean every word I said to you, please?
Hmm! You said your name is Haisam right, well am sorry am not interested in your love, infact am not ready to go into any relationship at this moment.
Okay,i can wait for you till when you are ready please said Haisam, I said NO and that's final, okay can I have your number? I don't have phone she was holding her phone there in her hijab, what if her phone starts ringing at that moment ?
Please am going,if am acting rude am sorry that's not how I am,its just that am not interested in any relationship with any man now,you men are not trustworthy the moment you guys want a girl's attention you act like you are going to go crazy for her love but the moment she accepts and falls in love with the guy, he starts ignoring her, care less for her,its when he feels like that is when he will call her and even if she call him it's as if she is disturbing him, so please just let me be;i don't want to be heart broken again.
Haisam was speechless at the way she speaks so perfect her voice sounds like a melody and her eyes are so charming, but am not like that said Haisam, who cares! she rolled her eyes and left.
Haisam kept calling her name but she didn't stop and Haisam went home feeling bad!
I hope you like it ?
Please vote,share and comment.........
It means a lot to me and it will encourage me to write more please.....

Chapter 2

Prince Haisam is extremely handsome, anywhere he goes girls are always drooling over him but he don't like it when girls act that way towards him,he wants a girl that will reject him when he confess his feelings to her and he promised himself that when he get that type of girl,he will make sure he makes her his wife that's nearly so impossible, because each time he talks to a girl for the first time, the girls always accept him at that very moment though I don't blame them this guy is so handsome his cute face, curly hair, his coded dressing all drives girls crazy.
He works at Central Bank Of Nigeria at Abuja so when you see him,you will know that he fully loaded? and presently he on two months break that's why he is in Abaji and luckily for him he got to notice Majnoon staying in the same street with him,he asked his friends about Majnoon and what he heard really impressed him so he decided to try talk to her about his feelings because he keeps having sleepless nights because of her.
When Haisam got to the palace he entered his room all the interiors in his parlour and bedroom were all screaming money! He laid down on his king sized bed thinking about what transpired between him and Majnoon, for the first time a girl he expressed his feelings to;rejected him feeling excited this is the kind of girl I want,i must fight for her love and she will be my wife Insha Allah.
When Majnoon got home she was walking angrily to her room that she didn't even notice that her mom is sitting in the parlour, her mummy knew something was wrong so she called her back and she sat on the sofa and placed her head on her mummy's lap.
Majnoon what is wrong with you? mummy it's nothing serious, when I was on my way home a guy stopped me telling me that he loves me,is that why you are angry, yes!;Majnoon don't you want to get married Yusrah came to my room to inform me about her wedding, mummy you know what happened the last time so I don't want to go into any relationship any time soon! my dear that was years back, you have to move on,okay?
Okay mummy.
Mummy about Yusrah's wedding I will like to seek for your permission to go over to her house a week to the wedding;don't worry when your daddy comes back home i will discuss it with him, thank you mummy let me go in and freshen up,she gave her mummy a peck before going to her room, she laid on her thinking of what happened in her past relationship,it still hurts her badly, after an hour she drift off to the dream land only to be woken up by the Adzan(call of Magrib prayer),she went into her bathroom to perform ablution and then she prayed.
She went out of her room to the dinning room and saw her dad sitting by the table ready to eat while her mom was serving her daddy, she hugged her daddy saying welcome daddy;thank you my princess and then she settled down to eat, mummy am sorry I slept off and I couldn't help you to cook, its ok I knew you slept off because when I saw that you didn't come to the kitchen to cook I checked your room and I saw that you were sleeping, daddy I missed you so much today I was all alone at home when mummy went to her shop, its like this day I will go with you to your working place, they all laughed; my princess you know I always miss you but I have to go to work, don't worry we will have all the weekend to ourselves, okay daddy.
After eating their meal they all went to the parlour to have a chit chat.
Haisam was lying down in his room when his golden coloured iPhone started ringing,he check the caller ID and saw that it's one of his friends Ismail,he just smiled and picked his call, your Royal highness, dan sarki jikan
sarki said Ismail
Oh! please stop that laughing you haven't change right said Haisam, so you have been in this Abaji for more than a month now and you didn't bother to check up on me abi?
hey! guy am home for a break from work not holiday,so I have been resting all this while and anyway am planning on visiting you this weekend,i have heard you always having an excuse and cover up it's the nature of my work that stopped me from storming into your house and beating the heck out of you
laughing, oh! please tell that to the birds said Haisam, till you come during the weekend I will be expecting you and there is something important that we need to discuss, okay no problem till we meet said Haisam and then Ismail ended the call.
Haisam and Ismail have been friends since childhood, they played and grew up together,Haisam has so many friends but Ismail is his best true friend he could ever have in his life time, because Ismail have always been there for him.
Very early in the morning Majnoon went to greet her parents in their bedroom, after said Salam they answered her before she entered, good morning daddy, how was your night my princess, fine daddy......

Chapter 3

The following day in the morning Haisam was standing outside the palace smiling while watching the children playing close by, when he saw Majnoon;she was wearing black straight gown with a pink knee length hijab and she was holding a green coloured Qur'an (Muslim's holy book).
It seems she is coming back from Islamiyyah,Haisam held unto his heart smiling at her but Majnoon didn't even look at the person standing, Majnoon heard a sweet husky voice calling out her name, she felt like turning around to see the owner of that voice but she kept on walking and pretend as if she is not the one been called, Haisam ran after her saying "Majnoon please stop, then she stopped pissed off "Oh! it's you said Majnoon,"yes it's me;you are looking more beautiful today, you are just like an Arabic princess.
Please what do you want from me again today said Majnoon, the same thing I asked you the last time, see please am really not in the mood for all this talks, then she left him standing there, looking at her while she walked away smiling to himself; everything about this girl is driving me crazy,i won't give up easily.
Haisam entered his room to freshen up and got into his black SUV car,he drove all the way to his friend's house Isma'il,when Isma'il saw they ran and had a manly hug as if they are seeing themselves after hundred years ?, guy I really missed you said Ismail, well am here now and stop behaving like a baby girl
laughing their guts out they both sat on the sofa in Ismail's room, then Haisam said;so dude you said we will discuss about something and when I went to greet Mumcy and popcy, popcy was telling me that have you informed me about the preparations thou I told him yes, even when I don't know what he is talking about.
Well am getting married in two weeks time on the 20th of this month said Ismail; what? how? why? Haisam is obviously surprised at the news, as you know my dad has really been on my neck to get married but I always give him the excuse of not having a girlfriend, he got feed up with that and now he has hooked me up with one of his friend's daughter, you know I can't disobey him, he has done everything for me in life, its not that he is forcing me;he gave me a choice but I decided to go with what he wants.
You did the right thing my guy said Haisam, the girl is very beautiful and I have developed feelings for her after we met for the first time, she is lively, beautiful and friendly trust me!
Wow! that's good and you never cared to inform me about it all this while said Haisam,i just wanted to be sure of my decision first before letting you know,i just told dad that I accept the girl this week and he fixed the wedding to be in two weeks time because he said he doesn't want me to change my mind that's why;am sorry.
Common it's okay Ango laughing, Haisam don't you dare tease me with that and if I say it again what will you do! they started their playful fight;they have grown up into men but they still behave as they do when they were
kids ?
Suddenly Haisam's started ringing when he checked the caller ID,he hissed before answering the call.
******
Aisha:Haisam how are you doing
Haisam:i was doing perfectly okay till you called.
Aisha: sighed, I know you don't love me but I can't live without you in my life please!
Haisam:haven't I told you to stop calling me,just let be
Aisha:i just called to hear your electrifying voice since you are on break I don't get to see everyday, the office is so boring without you am missing you badly....
Haisam:you know what?;just go to hell with your stupid feelings for me,you are so cheap and I don't date cheap girls.
** He ended the call**
Haisam you and all this your girls;this girl loves so I guess you should accept her,i don't even know what is wrong with you for almost years now you have not been in any relationship;the Haisam I know before change girlfriends monthly ? Laughing am just tired of all of girls that are always bugging me and you know I don't love them, now I want someone I will have true feelings for and she will also love me. Ismail only smiled because he knows Haisam so well he really meant what he said and he is happy that he has changed.
That reminds me there is this girl I saw when I came back for the break,i honestly love this, she is so beautiful, calm, the she talks, her voice is so sweet,i haven't seen her smiling yet but am sure her smile will be so cute, dude the most shocking part of it is that when I approached her she rejected me instantly.what! are you serious Haisam Ismail said,am telling the truth, wow! I will love to know this girl;you that no girl has ever rejected you..."that is why I keep falling for this girl everyday that passes by,her feelings gives me sleepless nights,i saw her before coming to over here but she still gave me the same attitude am not giving up,even her phone number she refused to give me she told me she don't have phone he felt really sad?
Don't worry friend I know you so well and I know you truly love her;i will help you out with this, common cheer up Ismail said to Haisam,i will be so grateful if you do this for me Ango laughing, you have started right. Ismail's phone started ringing;when he saw the caller ID he smiled and picked the call.
**************
Ismail:hello baby nah!
Yusrah:how are you doing my sweetheart
Ismail:am fine, just missing your cute smile;i can't wait to be your hubby
Yusrah:awwn! you are making me to feel shy
IsmailConfusedhy girl! so whats up
Yusrah:my friends will be coming over to my house a week to stay for the wedding,if they are around I want you to come over so that they will give you the list of things we need for the wedding party.
Ismail:okay;no problem take care of yourself for me please
Yusrah:i will,i love you
ismail:i love you too bye...... then he ended the call.
Haisam has his eyes fixed on Ismail saying, this must be the girl right? Yes it's Yusrah replied Ismail, what did she say;she said her friends will be going to her house to stay for the wedding when it's a week to the wedding,so I should try and see them for all the necessary things they need for the wedding party.
Don't worry I will handle all her friends, infact if they should see me they won't even be able to ask for much money because everybody knows that am Mr handsome said Haisam laughing.
Amma kai dan Iskah neh! don't go and break their hearts because I know even if they fall for you,you won't mind them,i remembered during kabir's wedding when me and Kabir were begging them to reduce the amount of money they asked from us but they refused;Kabir whispered to me that he is going to call you to help him talk to them, when you came you didn't even say anything but all the girls couldn't blab anymore and they accepted the amount we offered them immediately and they were all asking for your phone number when you left
they were laughing so hard ?
Ango am going home it's getting late,ok thanks for coming man, they shaked hands and then Haisam went back home..............
Thanks so much for the love ?

Chapter 4

In the night Haisam was lying down on his king sized bed after replying all his offline messages in all his social media accounts and he wanted searching for Majnoon's profile on facebook but he doesn't her surname,so he switched off his phone.
He entered the bathroom and freshen up then wore his pyjamas and laid down to sleep but he couldn't sleep,he kept thinking about Majnoon till 3:00am before he was able to sleep.
* **ONE WEEK LATER***
On Sunday morning Majnoon got ready to go to Yusrah's house, she arranged everything she needed during the wedding, her Anco.,English wears that she will use to work with, shoes;high heels and flat shoes Majnoon loves high heels, makeup kit, veils and hijabs e.t.c
She went to her parent's room to bid them goodbye promising to be calling them often, she called all friends that she is leaving her house at that moment.
They all met at Yusrah's house, they were all excited to see each other they greeted Yusrah's parent then Yusrah took them to her room that's where they will be staying, all of them fell on the bed to rest then Yusrah told them that Ismail and his friend will be coming over by tomorrow to give them money to buy all the necessary things they need for the wedding party,so they should write out what will be required so that they will be able to calculate and know the certain amount of money they will ask for by tomorrow, they all answered okay and they continue with their girly chat
In the night they all slept early immediately after they finish praying Isha'i, except Majnoon and Yusrah discussing about the wedding preparations."see how they all scattered themselves sleeping, they didn't even bother to talk about writing the list" said Majnoon, thats why I love you the most, you are the more sensible among them laughing
let me start writing when am done;then you go through it by tomorrow all this crazy girls will check it again before Uncle Ismail comes tomorrow,Majnoon you are so funny why are you calling him uncle Ismail, well that's because he is an elderly person I can't look at him and call him by his name and am use to it.
She wrote everything needed then Yusrah went through it and said it's perfect.
Haisam has been worried sick because for almost a week he has not seen Majnoon so he couldn't sleep at night but he forced himself to sleep because him and Ismail will be going out in the morning.
It's 8:00am Monday morning all the Royal fairies were up from bed, they ate breakfast together and had their bath because Yusrah told them that Ismail will be coming soon with his friend, they went through the list that Majnoon wrote and they all agreed that it's okay, all the girls were busy applying makeup except Majnoon and Yusrah, "Eeyyah! why all this too much makeup, please oo you girls should not snatch Yusrah's husband oo ?
Mimie:am not interested in snatching Ismail,is just his friend that I want him to notice me as far as he is rich and handsome
re-arranging her dress.
Amal:you all know I have a boyfriend yet so I need to look dashing just in case ?
Saheeba:am just applying makeup to look good that's all.
Neenah:if Ismail's friend will notice me I might get lucky too.
Yusrah: laughing you girls are really driving me crazy with your baseless thoughts
Majnoon just wore black pencil skirt & top with maroon kimono and she rolled black veil and set aside her black high heels without makeup but she look so cute,"you said we are dressing too much then why are you wearing this and with high heels said Mimie, you know me too well I wear what makes me feel comfortable and high heels you also know that I prefer it than flat shoes even on a normal day Majnoon replied.Just then Yusrah's phone started ringing....
Yusrah :hello
Ismail :yes am outside your house;am waiting please
Yusrah :okay we are coming...see yah!
Girls they are outside, they were rushing to go out except for Yusrah and Majnoon "just look at them bunch of low class girls" Yusrah just laughed at what she said, please Yusrah go and introduce our friends to uncle Ismail and his friend, what of you;don't tell me you won't go out.
I will join you girls soon,ok then be fast, Yusrah went out to meet the girls chatting and laughing with Ismail and his friend; she is not that surprised because she knows that her friends are friendly.
When Yusrah got to car she greeted Ismail and his friend Haisam! Then she introduced her friends to them,"I have heard alot about you and yet I don't know you but today luckily I have seen you today said Yusrah, its Ismail's fault since he didn't let me know our wife to be early till today.
So what's your plans girls said Haisam, all of a sudden Mimie started saying well we will be wedding party so we need all the necessary things for that to take place, okay let me see the list please and the total amount, just then Majnoon came out of the house walking majestically,Haisam was surprised to see Majnoon to be one of Yusrah's friends,Majnoon was also surprised to see Haisam as Ismail's friend but she didn't show it, she greeted them; when her eyes met with Haisam's he smiled at her mouthing "you look beautiful" but Majnoon took her eyes off him, "so this is the princess I have been waiting to know,Yusrah always have something different to say about you said Ismail, smiling I have also heard lots of wonderful things about you too but all I want to tell you is that she is precious to us so please take good care of her for us and am sure she will be a good wife to you said Majnoon Haisam was just staring at her of course I will because I love her so much replied Ismail, okay thanks.
Mimie was busy smiling at Haisam thinking he is interested in her because she believes that she is the most beautiful among them and to Haisam the way she is smiling at him only pissed him off, Majnoon is more sensible than the other girls Haisam said to himself, "is the list with you Mimie asked Majnoon, yeah here it is,she handed it over to Haisam.
For today you guys have to take us to POSHMEENAH BEAUTY PALACE for washing and setting of our hair with manicure and pedicure Haisam was just amazed staring at her,the way she talks, her smile, everything about her is classy?
Okay girls let's go to the beauty palace but I don't have much money with me,we will have to stop at ATM first said Haisam......
Lots more to come...

Chapter 5

Apparently they went there with two cars so Ismail went to stand by his car so also Haisam,he was praying silently and hoping Majnoon will enter his car,Neenah,Amal and Majnoon entered Ismail's car while Yusrah, Mimie and Saheeba entered Haisam's car.
Haisam was not happy about that so he text Ismail saying they should exchange their car,Ismail only smiled and did what Haisam told him without knowing why.
"Uncle Ismail any problem I see that you are going out " said Majnoon, actually it's the other car that is mine I just came to pick something here replied Ismail Majnoon face palmed herself ?
Mimie was also dissapointed that she won't get to be in the same car with Haisam she was even sitting at the front seat ? They exchanged cars,Haisam was so happy the girls kept chatting and laughing but Majnoon was quiet, time to time Haisam kept looking at her through the front mirror because she was sitting at the back.
Ismail was surprised at the way Haisam has been acting; because he noticed him staring at one of the girls while they were at Yusrah's house, maybe it's Mimie that he is interested in because he like girls that are extremely fair but he didn't say anything to him yet so he will ask him later Ismail thoughts! ........they got to senior Quarters where the beauty palace is situated Majnoon talked to the receptionist of what they want, then the receptionist told them the total amount and Haisam paid the money immediately, they got seated ready for the manicure and pedicure, Haisam and Ismail were asked to sit and were given magazines and drinks just to keep them busy and entertained.
Just then Yusrah's phone started ringing & it's her mum calling, she shouted hey! am in trouble,i didn't tell mummy that I was going out; calm down I told her we will be going to the beauty palace, that was what kept me inside when you were all outside said Majnoon, Yusrah picked the call and greeted her, then she answered okay! and ended the call "what did she say" asked Majnoon she just said my wedding box has been brought to the house by the groom's family and that is good am not at home, okay then! They continued their girly chat, snapping selfie with crazy faces
Ismail asked Haisam "what is wrong with you? " , "what did you see?" replied Haisam I noticed all your attention have been on the girls, tell me are interested in all of them Ismail jokingly said,"you must be crazy;do you remember the girl I told you about? Yes! is she Mimie said Ismail
"you are not serious,Mimie is not my type I don't even like her gosh! she is so irritating, then who is she among them? It's Majnoon!, wow! I love that because she is sensible, pretty and classic you have made the right choice said Ismail.
Sshhh! keep quiet she is coming towards us
they kept quiet..... Uncle Ismail please we are thirsty and hungry can you get us something to eat,Majnoon said facing Ismail; OK Majnoon but is there an eatery here? just go out by the left you will find it; okay, but for me just get me a bottle of water with fruits salad please, okay no problem said Ismail.
Ismail and Haisam left to get the food for the Royal fairies,in five minutes they are back Haisam gasped when he saw Majnoon's hair, she has long and black shiny hair like the Indians,Ismail smiled and touched him for them to go ahead and give them the food. Haisam went to Majnoon and gave her the fruits salad and the bottle water staring at each other whispering "I love everything about you " to her she just smiled then he left ( Majnoon mentally hit her head saying "what are you doing Majnoon he handsome and charming; you are not meant to fall in love with him because he will also hurt you)
When they were all done Haisam and Ismail took them home, they were about entering the house,Haisam called out to Majnoon the rest of them went inside the house while Majnoon stayed behind.
"yes! what is it? asked Majnoon,i just wanted to give you the list back; Majnoon got to the car.Haisam came out of the car and said "Majnoon we met again I truly love you with my whole heart am ready to do anything for you please! Majnoon starred deep in to his eyes and she saw sincerity,he truly love her but she is scared that she might get hurt; men are not trustworthy he might change! Haisam how many times do I have to repeat myself that I don't love you,see Majnoon Haisam is my friend right from childhood I know him so well and I know he truly loves you please try and give him a chance Ismail chirped in to their conversation. Uncle Ismail I don't want to get hurt am happy the way I am said Majnoon, Haisam just give me the list Majnoon said and pouted Haisam smiled and said can you please call my name again it's like is the first time someone is calling my name and I need your number so that I will inform about all the arrangements for the hall, she kept quiet for a while before saying it's only because of my friend I will give out my number to you,she gave Haisam the number and left Haisam was happy that at least he got her number....
Unknowingly to Majnoon the other girls were peeping at her from inside when entered the house she saw them at the gate "what are you girls doing here? she didn't wait for their answer she just enter their room to rest and they all followed her;they were all happy and hoping that she will accept Haisam except for Mimie that is jealous......
Mimie annoyed :- Majnoon you should be jumping and singing because he told you he loves you;and here you are giving attitude, he is meant to say that to me not you because am by far more beautiful than any of you.
Majnoon :- she laughed like seriously Mimie not everyone is like you, I don't freak out when I see men like him and if you think you are more beautiful than anyone of us you must be a blatant lier, is it because none of us has ever replied you that doesn't mean that we accept that,if you think you are more than anyone of us then get the heck out of here since you are above us; for me I never told anyone that am beautiful,i am just me and nobody can be me fuming with anger!
Neenah :- please Majnoon it's okay
Saheeba :- please Majnoon
Amal :- Majnoon you are right but please it's okay
Yusrah :- Majnoon calm down please!
Majnoon picked her Veil, phone and left the house even when they were all calling her she didn't answer them!

US detectives searched my house when I first bought it – Davido

Nigerian Afropop singer,Davido has revealed that detectives in the United States came to search his house when he first bought it.
[Image: US-detectives-searched-my-house-when-I-f...00x400.jpg]

In the interview with Channel 4, the singer stated that the detectives were suspicious of him because of the neighbourhood where he bought the house. He said;

“I’m the only African person in that neighbourhood so I moved in and two days later, detectives came to my door. They came in and searched the whole house asking me what I do because I bought that house cash. I don’t have a problem with authorities but it might be shocking,” he said.
“I won’t say it is racism, that’s how they’ve been brainwashed. Living in America, you are brought up to think that Africa is a no-go area. In Africa, we are brought up to think that these people took everything from us so that is something that we have to fix.”

Davido also made it known that he might probably go into politics or hang around the political circle.

“I might probably go into politics. If I’m not in it 100%, I might just be around. There’s a lot of things going home that’s not right. If I was in that position, there’s a lot of things I’ll do differently.
“Being African is cool now. It’s not only music, there’s the clothes, food and the whole culture.
“I have the biggest record ever in America right now, an African record. Most of the record is broken English, I’m speaking in broken English they don’t even know what I’m saying but it feels good.”

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SUNDAY, 3RD FEBRUARY.

A SUPPLANTING OF THE OLD BY THE NEW.

…ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him (Colossians 3:9-10).

In Christ, you have much more than mere religion. You received the life and nature of God when you received Christ into your heart. You were literally born anew; you were born of God. John 1:12-13 declares, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”

You’re a new creature in Christ Jesus. You have the resurrection life, because you were raised together with Christ to a new life altogether. Ephesians 2:4-6 says, “But God…hath quickened us together with Christ…And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” When Jesus died, you died with Him. When He was buried, you were buried with Him. When God raised Him from the dead, you were raised together with Him.

You received a new life when He was raised from the dead. When He was raised from the dead, He was born again (Acts 13:33). He came up with a new life, the resurrection life. So, when the Bible says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17), it means there’s been a supplanting of the old life by the resurrection life. You’re not the old man and former nature that sinned. That former self is dead; he died in Christ. Your new nature is identified with Christ: “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4).
Your past with all the failures, weaknesses, and defeat were buried with Him. Now, you have a new life in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Righteous Father, I thank you for the reality of the new life of righteousness, which I’ve received in Christ. The old nature with its decadence, weakness, and defeat has been completely supplanted by the new life of righteousness, victories, triumphs, and strength. I walk in the reality of this transcendent life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

1 Corinthians 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

Ephesians 4:20-24 But ye have not so learned Christ; 21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

How I Escaped From Delta State Prison - 22-Year Old Re-Arrested Suspect Explains
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 02-02-2019, 11:04 PM - No Replies

A young man who got re-arrested after escaped from prison, has told the story of how he managed to stage his escape.

Ibrahim Umaru

[size=undefined]
Most times, when inmates escape from prisons, it’s usually during a prison-break. But Ibrahim Umaru, 22, didn’t have to rely on such an opportunity. He simply devised a plan, waited for the right time and then simply walked away. That’s how easy it is to escape from prison.

After fleeing prison, Umaru, rather turn a new leaf, went back to his old life of crime. He was however quick to add that he didn’t commit any crime before being arrested and taken to Ogwashi-Uku Prison. The suspect escaped from prison in 2018 and fled to Zamfara State, where he joined a gang of bandits.

These bandits specialised in cattle rustling and razing down communities. After embarking on several operations, Umaru was again rearrested. He was arrested by operatives of the Inspector General of Police, Special Intelligence Responses Team (IRT), led by a D e p u t y C o m – missioner of Police (DCP), Mr Abba Kyari. An AK-47 rifle was re- covered from him.

He was arrested after he led members of his gang to rob a filling station in Asaba, Delta State. A police source said: “Umaru was first arrested in 2014 when policemen on patrol accosted him after he took some cows for grazing. The policemen searched and found a gun on him. He was taken to court, where he was charged for illegal possession of firearm. He was sentenced to five years in prison, but later escaped. He fled to his home town and later joined a cattle rustling syndicate.

“This gang has killed several people in Zamfara State. The gang was headed by Buhari Daji, who is now late. Umaru took part in several robberies, cattle rustling and kidnapping activities in Zamfara State before returning to Asaba Delta State with an AK-47 rifle which he started using to terrorise residents and business owners in Asaba Delta State.”

The suspect was arrested after operatives of IRT on the order of the IG started investigating the gang’s activities. The gang was trailed and only Umaru was allegedly arrested.

IRT operatives trailed Umaru to a forest where he was arrested and the Ak-47 rifle recovered from him. After his arrest, Umaru said: “My father owns over 30 cows. He was the person that taught me how to rear cows. I was arrested in a bush along Ogwashi Road, Delta State. Some policemen accosted me with some cows; that was in 2014. I had 33 cows with me, which belonged to my father and myself. When the policemen saw me, they stopped me and searched my cows. They found a locally made gun. I was taken to B division and later charged to court, where I pleaded guilty. That was mainly because I was a small boy back then.”

Umaru was sentenced to five years imprisonment. He was incarcerated in Ogwashi- Uku Prison.

He said: “I escaped on one of the days I was taken out of the prison to cut grasses outside prison premises. One of my brothers, who normally visited me in prison had earlier told me that my father got sick and died. He said that my mother was also sick. When I was taken out of prison to perform grass cutting duty, I wasn’t wearing my prison vest, so I seized the opportunity to escape.

“I had N200 with me at the time I escaped. I took a taxi that brought me down to Mariam Babaginda Road, Asaba. I found a trailer parked on that road, I greeted the driver and told him that I needed to be in Sokoto. I explained to him that I had just escaped from Ogwashi-Uku Prison. He accepted to take me to Sokoto.

“When I got home, I met my mother very ill. I spent five months in my village. Then I went to Kwara State to check my cows. I spent one month with my cows and then one of my friends told me that Buhari Daji was recruiting boys to work for him. I went and joined him. He gave me a gun and I fought once for him. I later took the gun to Asaba, where I linked up with one of my friends known as Baba. He said he needed a gun; I brought out the gun.”

Umaru said that he and Baba’s gang members decided to go and rob a filling station along Ibuzo Road.

He added: “We went there at night; we broke into the filling station and robbed it. A month later, I decided to rob the filling station again. I called Baba, who used to assist me to service the rifle. But on my way, the police arrested and recovered the gun from me.”

Police Watched As Kidnappers Abducted Me - Abia APC Chairman Narrates
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 02-02-2019, 11:01 PM - No Replies

Donatus Nwankpa has narrated how gun-wielding kidnappers abducted him in Abia state while police men watched.

Donatus Nwankpa

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia, Chief Donatus Nwankpa, freed by kidnappers after four days has made a sensational revelation about his ordeal: the indifference by Nigerian policemen who witnessed his kidnap.

Nwankpa who has returned home said the hoodlums, who kidnapped him, accosted his car about 30 metres away from a police checkpoint at the Arungwa Junction on Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway.

“The police were watching and did not intervene, while we were attacked by the hoodlums,” he said.

Nwankpa was said to have been kidnapped while on his way to Aba from Umuahia around 11 pm on Monday, ahead of Tuesday’s visit of President Muhammadu Buhari for his presidential rally.

He told newsmen in his residence in Umuahia on Friday, that he was released at about 9 pm on Thursday and taken to the border between Abia and Rivers states.

He said that after they were kidnapped, he pleaded with the gunmen to release one of his aides, who had a major operation recently and was still recuperating.

He said that they heeded his plea and dropped off the man but drove him away to a deep forest in Rivers.

Nwankpa said that it took the kidnappers about 48 hours before they could open up communication and agree to negotiate with his people.

He said that although the Department of State Services (DSS) was able to locate their location in the forest, he admonished them not to take any action.

“When you are kidnapped, you are between life and death. So I told the DSS that nobody should attack after they located the place I was kept,” he said.

He said that his fear was that death could come from the kidnappers or during a gun battle between the hoodlums and security agents.

The APC chairman dismissed as “unfounded” the rumour that he was trailed by his abductors after he had withdrawn N50 million from the bank, describing it as “political blackmail.”

He said that he had only N250,000 when he was attacked and blamed the incident on the state of insecurity in the state.

He expressed joy that he was not hurt by his abductors but could not disclose whether ransom was paid before he was let off the hook.

Scores of APC party chieftains in the state visited Nwankpa’s residence on Friday to rejoice with him over his safe return.

He said: “I am an Aiye member (Black Axe). I have been in the cult for about two years. I was told that Davido was a member and if I join, I will be able to meet him.
“It was the guy who initiated me that said so. He said he worked for Davido and that it will be easy access. But since I joined, I have not met Davido. They told me I’ll become a very popular musician but see where I am now.
“I am renouncing my membership of Aiye. I will never belong to any cult again. They should look at my face very well. They will never see me in their midst again.
“I lived at Oniru in Lekki. I used to be a domestic help. Since I joined, I have not done anything bad. I have not killed anybody. I just wanted to be a famous musician.

Pendulum: Between Buhari and Atiku, My Candid Forecast
By Eric - February 2, 2019 0218

By Dele Momodu

Fellow Nigerians, let me say how excited I am that the Nigerian Presidential election is barely two weeks away. Naturally, nothing dominates the news here than the topic of who is likely to win. I have no power of clairvoyance, but I have some modest and sufficient experience about Nigeria’s political history as well as world politics. This is the reason I often attempt to analyse and dissect the chances of the main candidates. Every candidate counts in an election of this nature. I’m forever proud of my decision to participate in 2011. Contrary to what many have said or written about me, I actually expected a miracle to happen and my extraordinary confidence must have been bolstered by the sheer audacity of Barack Obama who took on the humongous American establishment, and stubborn status quo, and tore them to shreds. The same spirit must be the one propelling some of our friends and compatriots, Fela Durotoye, Oby Ezekwezili, Tanko Yunusa, Omoyele Sowore, Donald Duke, Eunice Atuejide, Alistair Soyode, Kingsley Moghalu, Tope Fasua, and others (not in any particular order).

The lesson I learnt from that 2011 experiment will live with me forever. The first is that Nigeria must find a way to return to a two-party system. Our young candidates would have better chances if they emerged from mainstream parties. It would have been a straight fight between, perhaps, an older candidate and a youthful one. I believe, this must be the reason Alhaji Atiku Abubakar promptly cashed in on that punchline when he described himself as the bridge between the old and the young. And if you watched the interview conducted by the strong lady, Kadaira Ahmed, with Atiku and Peter Obi, the difference was clear. Atiku looked more energetic, mentally alert, eloquent, knowledgeable, presentable, exposed, cosmopolitan and business-like notwithstanding the fact that he s only a few years younger than the President. I told some of my friends that night that if you give Buhari four terms, nothing would move because he would sit down in one position bemoaning the past and seeing future enemies. The stultification of Nigeria in the last four years is not as a result of PDP’s prodigality of the previous 16 years, but because of the sluggishness, taciturnity, clannishness, vindictiveness, obstinacy, and crass ignorance of many members of the Buhari cabal and cult.

There is nothing APC has not done to rewrite history. Their present supporters are the rudest humans I have ever encountered. They are incapable of any logical or superior argument. They are rigidly programmed to see anyone not in their camp as a thief and looter, as if that is all there is to governance. Atiku was able to point this out during the Kadaria encounter, when he boldly declared that rather than waste resources and precious time on chasing a few rats, he would consider granting amnesty to some of the looters as a quicker resolution and foreclosure to the unfortunate saga. Nearly 21 years after the death of General Sani Abacha, Nigeria is yet to fully recover all the alleged fortune in foreign lands. The money is not useful to Nigeria in foreign coffers. Some people disagreed with Atiku’s strategy for fighting corruption, but they forgot that it is foolhardy to grant amnesty to terrorists and murderers and refuse to consider same for pen robbers. The tragedy of Buhari’s entrenched position is that he and his disciples are not business-like. Everything must be fought as a jihad when some of the problems require tact and common sense.

I’m confident to say Buhari has not won new fans in the last four years, or better put, he has lost far more than he has gained, if any at all.

This election would be fought on several fronts. The first is funding. Atiku will never be able to compete on this account. Buhari is certainly not like former President Jonathan who was more democratically relaxed and thus allowed Buhari to campaign and roam freely. But for Atiku’s courage and extensive contact and global network, his campaign would have collapsed ages ago. Buhari and his people must be worried about how Atiku has managed to run such an efficient campaign filled with substance, entertainment and excitement. While the APC Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, and others continue to abuse PDP and even members of their own party, Atiku and company cannot be seen attacking people. The melodious and mellifluous campaign song of Atikulation is catching on sporadically on social media. The infighting in APC should be cause for alarm. Things are falling apart in so many states and Buhari has not demonstrated enough capacity to reconcile his party. Except a miracle happens, APC is not likely to field candidates in several states of the Federation.

Next is ethnicity. This will play a major role in the imminent General elections. It appears that Buhari has walked into a major trap this time around. Unlike his pan-Nigerian outlook in 2015, he has atrociously become the most clannish leader in Nigeria’s contemporary history. For a man nursing a second term ambition, it is strange and inconceivable that he would throw caution to the winds the way he did when he carried his Fulanisation of Nigeria to bizarre levels. He should have known that when tomorrow comes, his perceived actions would come back to haunt and torment him. Except for his die-hard supporters, it would be difficult, if not impossible, for Buhari to say he is the true father of the nation when he has blatantly refused to embrace everyone. The interesting thing is that an in-depth analysis might show that there is a balancing exercise over time, but the nature and manner of the appointments Buhari has made is what leaves much to be desired and is particularly galling.

Once upon a time, Buhari enjoyed a cult-like followership in several parts of Nigeria, especially, in the North West and North East. I believe he still does, but not on the scale he did in the past. I predict a substantial reduction in his votes in key States that he could afford to take for granted in the past. I will start with the massive State of Kano. Say what you will, former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, will chip off a minimum 40 percent of Buhari’s previous votes in Kano, that is if not up to 50 percent. Those who claim Buhari is invincible may be right to some extent, but he lost some precious diamond the day APC allowed the iroko tree called Rabiu Kwankwaso to quit APC. This development will plague Buhari in this election.

I will say President Buhari reached the peak of his glory and popularity in 2015. For the first time, he was able to secure the support of so many who had written him off in the past as being too old and archaic. The hatred for PDP and its leadership blinded many of us from seeing all the warts we had complained about and Buhari became our new bride. Despite the blistering campaign for Buhari nationwide and the alliances formed between the powerful forces that combined to form APC, and some noticeable, but studiously ignored infractions during the election, the difference in votes between Buhari and Jonathan was under three million. Buhari’s popularity has since dwindled dramatically since then. APC chieftains know within them that they are currently on a very difficult mission to bring Buhari back to power. They are aware that he has become too old and tired and sickly, but they are goading him on for their personal survival. This explains all the moves to urgently take over other arms of government that are likely to make things difficult if they need to perform some magic like they did in Osun State recently.

My first forecast is that Buhari will win many States in the North West, but not with the kind of margin that he had in 2015. Atiku will challenge him big time in Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Kano, Kaduna and even Katsina. It was easier for Buhari in 2015 because he contested against a Southerner, but this time around, Atiku is as Fulani as they come. Not just that, Atiku has structures and he’s been in the race for over 25 years and thus built many bridges and made strong connections with a veritably formidable network of friends and associates. Buhari used to do very well in the North East, especially in Bauchi, but it should be noted that, this time around, Atiku is from the North East and he would put up a major fight in his territory. Buhari may still have a slight edge, here and there, but nothing monumental enough to shake Atiku.

Atiku will perform better than Buhari in the North Central. This may help him cancel some deficit he may have acquired in the North West and North East. Atiku is likely to obliterate Buhari in the South East and South South, the traditional enclave of PDP. South East offers a unique advantage because Atiku’s Vice President candidate comes from here as well as Atiku’s adorable wife, Jennifer. But since every vote for Atiku is badly needed, he would have to find a way to galvanise people of his catchment area to come out to vote and defend their votes. The South West is a bit dicey for both Buhari and Atiku. Buhari’s Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo comes from this zone and he is well loved by his people though many have complained that Buhari has handed too much power to his cabal instead of empowering this cerebral, refined, hardworking and meticulous gentleman who has shown a capacity and ability to galvanise and unify Nigeria. However, Atiku’s matronly wife, Titi, also comes from this zone which further complicates the equation because she is also well loved by women who feel she performed well as wife of the Vice President, from 1999-2007. I still expect APC to defeat PDP in this zone even though the margin of victory may be slender.

As the Economist has predicted once again, I see a tight race but a slim victory that would make Atiku Abubakar the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

We wait with bated breath!

OXFORD UNIVERSITY, HERE I COME

At the end of January, I received wonderful news regarding my application for admission to the African Studies Centre of the University of Oxford. As everyone who follows me knows, academia is my first love. My dream was always to be a teacher and once I stepped into the hallowed precincts of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, then known as University of Ife, it was love at first sight with academics. The love fest was complete as I walked into the sanctuary of books at the University Library where I worked from 1977-78 and my passion for reading simply exploded. I knew that this was what I had been made for, and my career in journalism has merely been a rite of passage towards the achievement and fulfilment of my quest for the knowledge that comes from reading and academics.

And so, it was with great joy, elation and excitement that I received the letter from the Director of The African Studies Centre, and The Rhodes Professor of Race Relations at the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies, Professor Wale Adebanwi, informing me that at the instance of the University of Oxford, United Kingdom, I had been approved as an Academic Visitor at the African Studies Centre of Oxford University. Professor Adebanwi wrote:

“I am happy to inform you that the Management Committee of the African Studies Centre, University of Oxford, UK, has approved your request for an Academic Visitor status at the Centre in the Hillary and Trinity Terms, 2019 – that is, between February and July 2019.

Oxford University’s African Studies Centre (see: http://www.africanstudies.ox.ac.uk/) is one of the world’s leading centres of African Studies. The Centre is the focal point for graduate level work and faculty research on Africa. Alongside a vibrant doctoral (DPhil) programme, the MSc in African Studies, inaugurated in 2006, is already recognised as one of Europe’s most prestigious and most successful training programmes in its field. We have trained graduate students who are now holding important positions in different spheres of social, economic and political life in Africa and the rest of the world.

We note that during your fellowship at the Centre, you plan to work on a book manuscript based on your experiences as a journalist, writer, publisher and social media activist entitled, “Celebrity Journalism and the Social Media in Contemporary Africa.”

We will expect you to present aspects of your work at a seminar before the end of your fellowship.

We look forward to hosting you. And we hope your time at Oxford will be mutually rewarding.”

It is my aim to utilise my rare combined degrees – a first degree in Yoruba from the University of Ife (now known as Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife) and a Master’s degree in Literature-in-English – to craft a biography of my journey through the world of journalism, politics and social activism.

Since I announced that I was going to be working on this book manuscript at Oxford University, my teeming readers and supporters have been asking about the fate of this Column.  I wish to assure everybody including all my regular readers and fans that this Column will continue to appear regularly and will not be prejudiced, but rather enhanced, by my new adventure.

I hope you will all join me as I start another phase of my life and pray for the success of this new endeavour.

N100Billion Campaign Funds Pitted Lagos Assembly Against Ambode
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 02-02-2019, 04:09 PM - No Replies

A coalition of civil society organisations (CSOs) Thursday alleged that the Lagos State House of Assembly moved to remove the State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, because the governor refused to release the sum of N100 billion the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership in the state demanded for electioneering.

Also lending his voice against the governor’s plan, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, urged the lawmakers not to plunge the state into chaos with the plan to remove Ambode.

The Convener of the coalition, Mr. Mark Adebayo, made the allegation at a world press conference held at the Airport Hotel in Ikeja, noting that with the removal, it was obvious that the assembly was becoming a political abattoir for the murder of democracy in Nigeria.

Coming together under the aegis of Lagos Liberation Movement (LLM), the CSOs that formed the coalition are the Campaign for Democracy (CD), United Action for Democracy (UAD), Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC)(Reformed) and Lagos People’s Assembly (LPA) with a mandate to stop the assembly from witch-hunting Ambode.

Speaking at the conference yesterday, the convener alleged that the assembly threatened to remove Ambode because he refused “to release the sum of N100 billion tax payer’s money to the party to fund political campaigns. “It has been alleged that Ambode’s refusal to hand over the state’s treasury key to the Lagos slave master-in-chief is the current cause of his travails. His non-compliance with the directive to make available N100 billion by an insatiable political godfather provoked the current backlash against the governor.

“We have already put together a comprehensive petition to the anti-graft agencies and multilateral organisations on the reckless and irresponsible waste of the state’s resources by the legislative arm of government in the state.”

He noted that the coalition was interested in knowing how the Speaker of the Lagos State Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, “has been administering N800 million “running costs” allocated to the assembly monthly.

But speaking with THISDAY on phone yesterday, the Publicity Secretary, Mr. Joe Igbokwe, debunked the allegation that the lawmakers and party leaders demanded N100 billion, noting that it was fake news, which according to him, should not be taken seriously for any reason.

Igbokwe said the allegation “is propaganda from the opposition camp. It is not true that the party leaders demanded such money for the purpose of funding our campaign. It is fake news, which no person should believe.”

He, therefore, said the allegation should be dismissed, claiming that it “is not true. I cannot react to fake news. At times, all sorts of fake news are being circulated all over the country. It is propaganda against our party.”

Meanwhile, in a statement by his Directorate of Media and Publicity yesterday, Agbaje asked the assembly and the APC not to plunge the state into chaos over moves to remove Ambode, saying the move was capable of jeopardising the smooth running of the state.

According to him of course, the way Lagos politics has been structured over the last two decades, government actions are often dictated by open and covert objectives.

“That the legislators are hinging their action on the purported delay of the budget is simply a smokescreen for a very shameful undertone that the assembly members will not want to make open. They are yet to tell us their actual motivation for this superfluous move to shame the governor.

“I received the news of the impending removal of Ambode with a lot of reservation, especially with its timing and motive. This is just 19 or so days to the federal elections, and the governorship, a fortnight thereafter. So the natural questions to ask are: Why this haste? And what is the motive?” he asked.

Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, says the decision of PDP to condemn the recent participation of two governors from Niger Republic in President Buhari's rally in Kano state on Thursday January 31st, reeks of jealousy and fear as they know 'they are going to lose the February 16th presidential election'.

APC did not violate any law by inviting Niger Republic governors to its Kano rally - INEC says

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)  has said that the APC did not commit any electoral infraction when it invited two governors from Niger republic to President Buhari's campaign rally in Kano state on Thursday January 31st.
Two governors from the country, Issa Moussa of Zinder and Zakiri Umar of Maradi states, both in Niger Republic, were part of those who received the president in Kano state during the presidential rally.
This was greeted with widespread condemnation with the PDP leading the pack of  those that condemned the APC for allowing governors from other countries attend a campaign rally. The chairman of PDP, Uche Secondus, had even called on the electoral body to immediately disqualify President Buhari from the presidential race.

Quote:“They came with monies and mercenaries to influence elections in Nigeria,” Secondus alleged on Thursday.
However in an interview with TheCable, the INEC director of Voter Education and Publicity, Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, said as far as he is concerned, the governors’ presence in Kano does not violate the INEC laws.
Quote:“They are not allowed to participate as either candidates or voters. But they can only observe the process. As far as I am concerned, their presence does not violate the constitution.” he said
Osaze-Uzzi added that only the courts has the powers to disqualify a candidate.
Quote:“INEC has no power to disqualify any candidate,” he said

Undeclared Assets: Onnoghen To Forfeit Huge Sums, Houses
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 02-02-2019, 03:15 PM - No Replies

Quote:By Tunde Oyesina

Except the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, agrees to forfeit his allegedly undeclared assets, running into millions and many houses, the embattled jurist may jeopardise an ongoing deal, aimed at giving him a soft-landing, the Saturday Telegraph has gathered.

The plea bargain-like deal, which had been reported as part of a plan to carefully ease the CJN out of office had set tongues wagging over what becomes of the huge cash in the five accounts he allegedly did not declare. Checks by Saturday Telegraph revealed that despite the ongoing political solutions, the Federal Government is insisting that Onnoghen forfeits all the cash in his undeclared accounts.

An informed source told Saturday Telegraph that the Federal Government is demanding that Onnoghen forfeits the cash in the undeclared accounts if the deal is to sail through. “I can confirm to you that talks are ongoing. The stage as at now is the demand that the Onnoghen should be allowed to retire without prosecution.

“Some people involved in the talks have also raised the issue that the cash in Onnoghen’s accounts should not be seized from him. “And that is where the problem lies. The money in the undeclared accounts is a subject of litigation before the Tribunal. “If the money is left for him, it will then mean that Federal Government is only persecuting Onnoghen for political reasons. “As much as the Federal Government is giving a listening ear, it will not allow Onnoghen to go with the cash, which he himself had admitted that he forgot to declare.

“The government believes Onnoghen cannot go without forfeiting the huge cash and property. That is the challenge at hand”. The CJN is billed to appear at the tribunal on Monday following reconvening of the panel, which earlier adjourned the matter indefinitely. The court had scheduled Monday to resume the trial following a ruling of the Appeal Court, which refused to stay proceedings in the trial.

The ruling was sequel to an application filed by Onnoghen seeking to stop the trial at the tribunal. The Appellate Court had however held that the provisions of ACJA make it difficult to stay proceedings in criminal trial. The business of the tribunal on Monday is for the defence team to move his application challenging the jurisdiction of the tribunal. Onnoghen was accused of not declaring five of his domiciliary accounts with the Standard Chattered Bank as slated in a petition to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) by the Anti-Corruption and Research Based Data Initiative.

The said petition which was received by the CCB on January 9 is titled: “PETITION ON SUSPECTED FINANCIAL CRIMES AND BREACHES OF THE CODE OF CONDUCT BUREAU REQUIREMENTS AGAINST HONOURABLE MR. JUSTICE W. S. NKANU ONNOGHEN”.
The petition reads in part: “We write to bring to your attention serious concerns bothering on flagrant violations of the law and the Constitution of Nigeria by the Honourable Mr. Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen, the Chief Justice of Nigeria. “Specifically, we are distressed that facts on the ground indicate the leader of our country’s judicial branch is embroiled in suspected financial crimes and breaches of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act.

“The particulars of our findings indicate that: His Lordship Justice Walter Onnoghen is the owner of sundry accounts primarily funded through cash deposits made by himself, up to as recently as 10th August 2016 which appear to have been run in a manner inconsistent with financial transparency and the code of conduct for public officials.

“To give specific examples, here are some instances of cash deposits by Justice Onnoghen: Justice Onnoghen made five different cash deposits of $10,000 each on 8th March 2011 into Standard Chartered Bank Account …; “On 7th June 2011, two separate cash deposits of $5000 each were made by Justice Walter Onnoghen, followed by four cash deposits of $10,000 each; “On 27th June 2011, Justice Onnoghen made another set of five separate cash deposits of $10,000 each and made four more cash deposits of $10,000 each on the following day, 28th June 2011; “Hon. Justice Walter Onnoghen did not declare his assets immediately after taking office, contrary to Section 15 (1) of Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act…”

Following the petition, the Federal Government had filed a six-count charge against Onnoghen before the Code of Conduct Tribunal. Asides the charge pending before the tribunal, President Muhammadu Buhari had on January 25, acting on an ex-parte order of the tribunal suspended Onnoghen and consequently sworn-in the next most Senior Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Tanko Muhammad as the acting CJN and Chairman of the NJC. Outrage had however followed the action, a situation, which prompted the NJC to summon an emergency meeting.

After it’s meeting, the council issued separate queries to both Onnoghen and Muhammadu and asked them to respond to it within seven days of receipt. It was reported that a 12- man delegate of the NBA had during the week met with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who is also an SAN. Reports had it that at the end of the meeting, six-point terms of resolution was arrived at to be delivered to Onnoghen. The high point of the resolution, according to the report was to persuade Onnoghen to quit. The report put the terms discussed by NBA at the session as follows:

●CJN to resign or retire without coercion;

●Govt to withdraw all charges against Onnoghen;

●No molestation of CJN under any guise;

●Acting CJN should quit;

●NBA team to prevail on relatives, friends to persuade Justice Onnoghen to resign; and

●Consensus on the need to clean up the Judiciary (long term measure). It was further reported that to be sure that the parties will keep to the terms, it was agreed that as Onnoghen is quitting his job, the government will simultaneously withdraw the charges against the CJN. The five accounts as contained in the charge are as follow:

a. Account No 50010626826 (Euro) b. Account No 5001062679 (Pounds sterling) SCB c.Account No 0001062650 (Dollar) (SCB) d. Account No 0001062667 (Naira) (SCB) e. Account No 5000162693 (Naira). Account balances listed against as follows:

The Standard Chartered Bank dollar account 1062650 with a balance of $391,401.28 on January 31, 2011; The Standard Chartered Bank Euro account 5001062686 with a balance of EURO 49,971 .71 on January 31, 2011; The Standard Chartered Bank pound sterling account 5001062679 with a balance of GBP23,409.66 on February 28, 2011.

Man Transforms Into Big Dog Then This Happened In Port Harcourt
Saturday, February 02, 2019  NEW

                               [Image: 8648014_dog2_jpegb2c99ba566eee29fad994a36360e37f7]
A certain part of Port-Harcourt the Rivers state capital called the Garrison was yesterday all agog after a stray dog was gruesomely killed amid protest from some animal lovers group in the area.

The poor dog was accused of transforming from a man before it met its untimely death. It was said that an unknown huge man allegedly turned into the massive dog moments after parking his car in the area, unknown to him people saw him during the transformation. The residents that saw it chased after the dog, caught it after hours of hot pursuit, tied and tortured it to death with the corpse dumped by the roadside.

Mixed reports coming from the area revealed that none of the eye witness' reports actually gave a detailed report on how exactly the incident happened and none saw when the transformation actually happened.

One of the eyewitnesses by name Chibuzor claimed that he was waiting for someone close to Garrison when he immediately saw the big dog close to the car parked along the road not far from where he was. He claimed there was no how the dog would have just appeared there if not transforming from a human being. He also claimed to have seen a man near the car before earlier before he saw the dog. that was what prompted him to raise alarm.

Another eyewitness who did not what her name to be printed claimed to be a resident of the area, according to her many strange occurrences has been happening in the area, dead chickens littered on the road, blood of animal suspected to be that of a human always spilt on road, she also said that head of a human being was once discovered in the bushes in that area several months ago. She is of the view that the dog that was killed must have to be that of one of the evil people that had been terrorizing the area with their juju that ran out of luck.

The incident caused severe tension in the area and many people are yet to recover from the unfortunate news with people seen openly discussing it.
Many people who are against the killing of the dog condemned the incident and called for the perpetrators to be brought to book. They said animals have the right to live and be cared for and nobody has the right to kill them indiscriminately.

According to Mr Godwin Chibuike, He blamed the incident on the lack of exposure, joblessness, and laziness of the youths in the area, He said such could not happen in western countries like America and Uk, that anybody or group of people that try such in such countries would be brought to book immediately. He called on the government to enact a law that will protect and care for the animals especially dogs who he claimed is seen as meat in some quarters.

As part of its 100-year birthday, British Airways has today announced it will be painting a Boeing 747 in the much-admired design of its predecessor British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC).

The livery from the 1964 to 1974 BOAC era will adorn a B747, reg: G-BYGC. The aircraft will leave the paint shop in Dublin and arrive in to Heathrow on February 18, before entering service the following day. This coincides with the 50th anniversary of the first Boeing 747 flight only a few days earlier.

The BOAC 747 will be the first aircraft to receive a popular design from British Airways’ past with more details of further designs to be revealed in due course. Aircraft that receive the retro liveries will fly British Airways’ routes, proudly showcasing some of the popular designs as part of the airline’s centenary celebrations. All new aircraft entering the fleet, including the A350, will continue to receive today’s popular Chatham Dockyard design.

Alex Cruz, British Airways’ Chairman and CEO, said: “So many British Airways customers and colleagues have fond memories of our previous liveries, regularly sharing their photos from across the globe, so it is incredibly exciting to be re-introducing this classic BOAC design.

“Our history has shaped who we are today, so our centenary is the perfect moment to revisit our heritage and the UK’s aviation landscape through this iconic livery.”

The 747 has been deliberately chosen for the BOAC livery as it is a later variant of the same aircraft type that adorned the design when it was initially in operation.

The BOAC livery will remain on the Boeing 747 until it retires in 2023. By this time, British Airways will have retired the majority of its 747 fleet, replacing them with new state-of-the-art long-haul aircraft. This includes taking delivery of 18 A350s and 12 Boeing 787 Dreamliners in the next four years – which feature new cabins and are more environmentally efficient – as well as another 26 short-haul aircraft, all part of the airline’s £6.5bn investment for customers.

FG, ASUU Talks Deadlocked again, Shutdown of Varsities Enters 4th Month

Another meeting between the federal government and the leadership of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) ended yesterday in Abuja without an agreement on the major issue at stake.

ASUU had demanded the release of N50 billion as first trench of the revitalisation fund meant to address decaying infrastructure in the nation’s public tertiary institutions.

The meeting yesterday was the ninth edition of the FG-ASUU talks that had ended in deadlock, even as the public-funded universities have remained shut down nationwide.

Addressing journalists shortly after the meeting, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige said some progress had been made.

According to him, it is left for the ASUU to consult with its members and get back on Thursday when the parties would reconvene.

Ngige said: “It has been protracted but the good news is that we have gotten to the end of the tunnel.”

On whether federal government had agreed to release the N50 billion demanded by ASUU, Ngige said government had offered ASUU something very reasonable “and they have agreed to take it back to their people and to reconvene next Thursday.”

“We have met it half way. We have offered what we have, we don’t have N50 billion. The Minister of Finance has also said that the federal government cannot afford N50 billion now,” he added.

On his part, the National President of ASUU, Biodun Ogunyemi said that the meeting had made some progress and that they were going back to consult with their members.

He also said that another meeting had been scheduled for next week, Thursday where the two parties hope to further deliberate on the way forward.

“The meeting has been adjourned till Thursday, we will be here again to continue talks,” he said.

When asked to give details of the new offer made to ASUU by the government, Ogunyemi said he could not disclose it until it got to his members first.

“We presented the feedback from members on the previous discussions with the FG and we have another set of information to our members and until we give them, we are not going to speak about it,” he said.

The ASUU president said that the union would definitely have something to tell Nigerians after the next meeting on Thursday.

At the resumed talks yesterday, ASUU leadership restated the union’s demand for a N50 billion revitalisation fund as the benchmark for resolution of the current industrial dispute.

Again, Finance Minister Allays Fears on FG’s Borrowing

The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, has again allayed fears over federal government’s borrowings, declaring that there was no cause for alarm as the borrowings were still remain within the fiscal threshold.

The minister spoke in Lagos at the Deloitte Economic Outlook conference, where she presented a paper titled, ‘Revenue Growth and Economic Development: Expectations for 2019’.

According to a statement issued by the minister’s media aide, Paul Ella Abechi, she explained: ‘We have been very strategic in the management of our debts, revenues, infrastructure, and human capital. These plans and the tighter coordination, monitoring within and among Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) with economic functions have placed us on a positive trajectory. We intend to maintain a steady course. Our borrowing is still within very good fiscal limits.”

“Global trends reveal slowdown in global economic growth exacerbated by global risks. Despite these trends and pursuant to our policies in the Economic Recovery Growth Plan, we have seen the economy exit from recession and move the economy upwards on a path of sustainable, inclusive and diversified growth.”

Although she acknowledged that the problem was that of revenue, the minister noted that by prioritising revenue generation, the federal government intends to continue significant investments in human capital and critical infrastructure to sustain the growth trajectory.

The minister maintained that the nation’s revenue had been growing successfully based on government’s policies and programmes initiated to ensure that revenue generation base was diversified.

“Historical performance analysis show that we are succeeding in growing our revenue. We have chosen to be strategic in our response and we recently launched the Strategic Revenue Growth Initiatives to achieve sustainability in revenue generation; identify new and enhance enforcement of existing revenue streams; and achieve cohesion of people and tools.

“Our targeted revenue to GDP ratio is 15 per cent as set out in the Economic Recovery Growth Plan.

“We will continue investing in the ERGP implementation by leveraging finance for critical infrastructure and our social investment programmes. These investments, we believe, will guarantee a sustainable future.

“In 2019 and in line with the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) 2017– 2020, we will continue to invest resources in achieving our fiscal priorities which are: Enhancing Revenue Generation, Collection and Monitoring; Fiscal Consolidation by Optimising Priority Capital and Recurrent Expenditure; Optimising Management of both Domestic and Global Fiscal Risks; and Increased Coordination of Fiscal, Macroeconomic, Monetary and Trade Policies,” she said.

But She noted that there was the need to do more to achieve high revenue generation.

“We still need to do more to achieve higher revenue outturn as peer comparison on our ability to convert Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to revenue for capital and social investment show that we have a lot to do,” she stated.

According to Wike, “I don’t think this administration will willingly accept defeat. They should emulate former President Jonathan, who lost elections and accepted the outcome. There was no litigation. He went back home and did not generate crisis.”

Wike said Rivers people will not fold their hands and allow the APC Federal Government unleash violence and rig the elections.

He “regretted that the Federal Government has caged the judiciary, making it difficult to determine electoral disputes in court,” arguing that the conduct of credible elections rest with security agencies and INEC, adding that once the two agencies act within the law, the polls will be credible.

Responding, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Founder of Savannah Centre Council on Peaceful and Violence Free in Nigeria, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, urged stake-holders to work towards peaceful and credible polls.

@POLITICSNGR

The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) Africa has predicted that PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar will win the 2019 Presidential Elections in February.

In a statement on Friday, EIU Africa pointed out that the Margin of victory is narrowing as the elections approach but Atiku will win the historic elections. The Statement, viewed by PoliticsNGR, read;

“#NigeriaDecides2019 : Less than 2 weeks before #Nigeria‘s presidential election. Abubakar has floated idea of corruption amnesty. It is arguably an impolitic time for such a delicate proposal,” EIU Africa tweeted.

“Abubakar is hard-pressed to convince voters that he is a clean politician, having been on the receiving end of numerous graft allegations in the past.

“We retain out forecast for #Abubakar to win, but expected margin of victory is narrowing as the poll approaches.”

A porn actor who filmed himself and his ex-partner having a threesome in front of passengers on the London Underground has been fined £1,000.

George Mason, 35, and Nicholas Mullan, 24, had sex with an unknown third man between Leicester Square and Waterloo stations, Westminster Magistrates' Court heard and a video was posted on Twitter with the caption "100% genuine footage".

Though Mason admitted outraging public decency, Mullan was not fined but told to pay £170 costs and carry out a 12-month community order. The incident happened in July 2017, but it was not reported until February last year, when it was posted on Twitter.

Prosecutor Robert Simpson said "the two men in the dock engaged in various sexual acts" on the Tube "in the presence of the travelling public. The incident is recorded by them and the video of what happened was subsequently uploaded on to Twitter, where another gay man saw it, thought that had crossed the line of what was acceptable behaviour and the incident was reported to the police."

A burglar who had sex with a corpse after breaking into a funeral parlour has been jailed for six years. Kasim Khuram, 23, had sex with a woman's body after lifting the lids of coffins at the Co-Operative undertakers in Walsall Road, Great Barr, Birmingham back in November.

Sentencing at Birmingham Crown Court, Judge Melbourne Inman QC said the crimes "offend all human sensitivity. I am not aware of and nor have I been able to find any similar case. It would be difficult to think of a greater depravation of the dignity of the dead," he said.

Khuram had forced his way into the parlour at about 03:00 GMT while high on Mamba and PCP and after drinking vodka.  He disturbed "multiple coffins" and desecrated the bodies of two women.

Khuram, who previously admitted sexual penetration of a body and burglary, was also ordered to register as a sex offender for 10 years.

In the video, the madam and her husband can be heard interrogating the girl about the stolen panties. She cried and swore she wasn't planning to use it for anything. She claimed she only wanted to keep it for her personal use.

But the woman's husband didn't believe the househelp's story and he asked her how she intended to wear the pants belonging to her madam which wouldn't her size. The girl had no reply to this.

The madam went on to ask the househelp why she didn't seek her permission first before taking the pants and the girl said it was because she was scared. The woman then asked if she was also scared of her daughter, who is away at boarding school, and asked why she didn't inform the daughter that she wanted her pants.
According to reports, the househelp's was to travel home on holiday when she was caught with the pants.
It wasn't revealed what further actions, if any, has been taken against the girl.
Underweartheft has become rampant in Nigeria with a lot of people believing it's prime material for money rituals.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SATURDAY, 2ND FEBRUARY.

PERSEVERE IN PRAYER.

And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint (Luke 18:1).

Every Christian has a right to pray and expect answers; it’s part of our heritage in Christ. Knowing this, prayer should be for you, moments of fellowship and expectation. 1 Corinthians 1:9 says, “God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.” We were called into communion and participation with the God-kind. This means you can talk to the Lord directly, and as a friend, and He’ll hear and answer you.

No wonder Jesus emphasized in a parable, the need for men to pray always and persevere in prayer. God delights in answering your prayers. 1 Peter 3:12 says, “For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers….”

Through prayer, your spirit is stirred to respond to the Lord more quickly. 1 Corinthians 14:4 says, “He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself….” Moreover, when you pray in other tongues, you’re speaking mysteries, divine secrets: “For one who speaks in an [unknown] tongue speaks not to men but to God…in the [Holy] Spirit he utters secret truths {and} hidden things [not obvious to the understanding]” (1 Corinthians 14:2 AMPC). You can bring forth divine secrets regarding your family, business, education, and all that concerns you, if you’d pray fervently in the spirit.

You might not know what steps to take in certain areas of life, but as you pray in other tongues, illumination comes. Someone says, “But I’ve been praying in tongues and still haven’t received the direction or go-ahead for the things I want to do”; persevere! Keep praying, knowing you’ll surely receive answers. The Bible says if the clouds be full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth (Ecclesiastes 11:3). Keep filling the clouds with your heartfelt prayers.

James 5:16 (AMPC) tells us that as the righteous, our prayers must be heartfelt and persistent: “…The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].” You’ve been made righteous, and have become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus; therefore, your prayers make tremendous power available, dynamic in its working. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION

Dear Father, I rejoice at the glorious impact and changes that take place in, and for me as I pray. Even now, I’m suffused in the glory of your presence, as your love fills my heart, and thrills my soul. Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY:

1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing.

1 John 5:14-15 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

1-Year Bible Reading Plan
Matthew 23 & Exodus 24-25

2-Year Bible Reading Plan
Matthew 12:1-9 & Genesis 33

#TALKINGSESSION

2ND FEBRUARY.

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD.

Blessed Father, you’re my life, and all that I seek. In You I live, and move, and have my being; you’re my peace, my refuge, and my strength. I abide in You, just as you abide in me, and I am bearing fruits of righteousness, walking in Your greater blessings. I am unconquerable and indestructible because Your Word is my life.

My life is a daily manifestation of the supernatural because you’ve made me the centre of Your operation on the earth. Christ is alive in me; therefore, I am a success, a winner, and a champion forever! I am loaded with all might in my inner man and I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me, in Jesus' Name. Amen!

God bless you

Phase1 of Nigeria- Morocco gas pipeline project completion

Phase 1 scope of the Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) of the Nigeria Morocco Gas Pipeline (NMGP) is expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2019. This is according to Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Dr. Ibe Kachikwu.

Speaking during the Nigeria International Petroleum Summit (NIPS) holding in Abuja, the Minister said that the NMGP designed to be 5,660km long, will reduce gas flaring in Nigeria and encourage diversification of energy resources in the country.

“This pipeline will help in the industrialization of these countries. It will also meet the needs of consumers for heating and other uses. We see gas as a fuel to take Africa to the next level. New gas discoveries have been recorded offshore Senegal, Mauritania, Mozambique and are in various stages of development,” said Dr. Ibe Kachikwu. Also Read:Uganda and Tanzania to sign US $3.5bn pipeline deal
Nigeria- Morocco gas pipeline project

The two countries had in June signed agreements, for a regional gas pipeline that will see Nigeria providing gas to countries in West Africa sub-region that extend to Morocco and Europe.

FEED is the basic engineering which comes after the conceptual design or feasibility study. The feasibility study of the gas pipeline that will traverse at least 15 West African countries and connect the existing Europe gas pipeline has been concluded and the pre-FID (final investment decision) greenfield optimization study is currently ongoing.

Additionally, the African Petroleum Producers Organisation (APPO) is seeking to mobilize about US $2bn of resources to fund critical areas of infrastructural collaboration within Africa. APPO made up of 18 member oil producing countries, accounts for nearly 95% of Africa’s oil production and at least 13% of world production.

Quote:The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu stated this while addressing the mammoth gathering at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, during the flag-off of the Enugu State presidential campaign at the weekend.

He said: “Today, we have assembled to showcase our love for the PDP. And we have reasons to do so.

“PDP is the party that gave our people the President of Senate of this country. They gave us Deputy President of the Senate. They gave us the National Chairman and Secretary of the PDP. They gave us the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN. They gave us the Minister of Finance. They gave us the Chief of Army Staff for the time since after the civil war. They gave us the Inspector General of Police. In fact, they gave us a sense of belonging.

“But since the PDP lost power at the centre, we lost all these. Now, we are going back to power. Now, we are believing that with our own son as the Vice President and our sister as the First Lady, we will return to power. So, this is down to our people”.

In terms of infrastructure, Ekweremadu said the PDP started the Second Niger Bridge, that the PDP also gave the South East “access to the international community through the international airport, just to name but a few”.

“So, the PDP has done so much for us, but the good news is that the party is even ready to do more for us.

“Therefore, when we go to the polls on 16th February 16, we will vote Atiku Abubabar as President and Mr. Peter Obi as his Vice President, and return all the PDP candidates to the National Assembly. We will do the same on 2nd March and return our Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and all our House of Assembly candidates”, he added.

She noted that: “What we are doing today is because of our children and every work a parent does if for the future of his or her children.”

“Every money earned is for the children. We have to monitor those that will take care of our children.”

“What we here to discuss is who will direct our children, which is why our vote is very important and what we saw today has explained the government of President Buhari as one that thinks and plans for the humanity,” adding that whoever that is selfish could not think of another person’s welfare.

The wife of the Vice President who spoke with parables in Yoruba Language, described the President as not only a kind man, but someone who served as a voice to the children that are voiceless.

“What President Buhari’s government is doing is also helping the traders across the country. The farmers have benefitted the gesture as well. This are the reasons I said the time of Buhari is beneficial. Apart from that, unemployed graduates are gainfully employed.”

While reeling out the achievements of the President, Mrs. Osinbajo did not means word to remind parents especially mothers on the need to caution there children not to used as instruments of violence for politicians.

Adding that: “It is time mothers that are here to admonish our children not to be used as instruments of violence for politicians.”

“Politicians can fight with each other and at the same time become friends. If you take side and get yourself killed, you will have yourself to be blamed for the loss,” reminding them to remember the sons of whom the are.

Earlier in her address, wife of the state governor, Mrs. Florence Abiola Ajimobi, lauded the Buhari and Ajimob’s administrations for their unprecedented achievements.

She said that the meeting was timely and important, noting that it would enlighten them on the present administration’s policies and achievements.

“The Buhari administration deserves our support and cooperation for another term, having done so well in their first term. Is it the 500,000 N-Power beneficiaries or school feeding.

“The Ajimobi-led administration apart from transforming the state into a modern one has empowered no fewer than 130,000 women in the state,” she said.

In a remark, representative of the Bank of Industry(BoI), Mrs. Abimbola Soyode, said trader money was not for vote buying as being insinuated by the opposition political parties.

She said that the money was accessed by petty traders irrespective of ethnicity, religion, age or political affiliation.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has secured an interim forfeiture of the sum of N1,000,494,000 (One Billion, Four Hundred and Ninety Four Thousand Naira) only lodged in three deposits with Fidelity Bank Plc on 20th and 25th May, 2015.

The forfeiture order by Federal High Court sitting in Kano and presided over by Justice A. Lewis-Allagoa is consequent upon a motion ex parte filed by the Commission seeking for the interim forfeiture of the money, which was found in the Bank account of Magel Resort Limited, a company linked to the former First Lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan.
The Commission had gotten an intel that a bank account domiciled in Fidelity Bank, had a huge sum of money that was not being used by anybody.

Upon receipt of the intelligence, the EFCC swung into action by conducting preliminary investigation, which revealed that Patience and some relatives of former president, Goodluck Jonathan were directors of the Company. Others named as directors are Oba Oba Tamunotonye, Goodluck Jonathan Aruera, Goodluck Jonathan Ariwabai and Esther Fynface.

In trying to trace the origin of the money, it was discovered that N500,000 was deposited on the 20th of May, 2015 by Fynface, who is alleged to be in charge of the Company, while N1 billion (One Billion Naira Only) was transferred in two tranches on the 25th May, 2015 from PAGMAT OIL AND GAS NIGERIA LIMITED a company that was not incorporated with the Corporate Affairs Commission.

Ruling on the motion, Justice A. Lewis-Allagoa held that: “An interim forfeiture order is granted to the Federal Government in the sum of N1,000,494,000 (One Billion, Four Hundred and Ninety Four Thousand Naira Only) in the Bank account of the 1st respondent Magel Resort Limited 4011019546 which is maintained with 2nd respondent Fidelity Bank Plc”.

The court further ordered that the forfeited sum be deposited in the Treasury Single Account of the Federal Government.

US imposes visa restrictions on Ghana

The United States has imposed visa restrictions on Ghana, accusing the African country of not cooperating in accepting its citizens who have been deported from the United States.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo “has ordered consular officers in Ghana to implement visa restrictions on certain categories of visa applicants,” the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said in a statement.

“Without an appropriate response from Ghana, the scope of these sanctions may be expanded to a wider population. Ghana has failed to live up to its obligations under international law to accept the return of its nationals ordered removed from the United States. We hope the Ghanaian government will work with us to reconcile these deficiencies quickly,” said DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said.

Ayo Oke Jets out of Nigeria ahead of EFCC trial

Quote:by Sodiq Yusuff

Ayo Oke, former director-general of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), and his wife are no longer in the country, TheCable understands.

Oke, who was to be arraigned along with his wife by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday, left the country last week, sources told TheCable.

He is said to be in a European country “for medical reasons”.

There are speculations that he may not be around for the arraignment.

In April 2017, EFCC said it had discovered $43 million, £27,000 and N23 million stashed in a flat in Ikoyi after a tip-off from a whistle blower.

Following reports that the monies belonged to the NIA, TheCable subsequently reported that the agency had collected $289,202,382 in cash for special operations from the account of the National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS) at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in February 2015.

NIA said the funds were part of “covert intelligence operations” but there was public outcry that it was a case of looting.

A three-man panel headed by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo indicted Oke and recommended his dismissal, which was effected in October same year.

On January 20, 2019, Osinbajo said criminal allegations would be filed against Oke and Babachir Lawal, former secretary to the government of the federation, following a directive from President Muhammadu Buhari.

Sources in the intelligence community told TheCable that subjecting Oke to open trial might compromise the nation’s security operations.

“Most of the projects financed by NIA from the funds are aimed at gathering intelligence and these things are usually done through cash transactions. Government might have succumbed to public sentiments to treat it as a crime, but there will be dire consequences for the nation’s security operations,” an NIA operative told TheCable.

Female doctor disgraced and stripped of her license for having sex with cancer patient in his hospital bed

A female doctor has been stripped of her medical license for carrying on an affair with a cancer patient and having sex with him in his hospital bed.
Dr. Theepa Sundaralingam, 37, began flirting with the man just one day after diagnosing him with cancer. She gave him her personal phone number and Instagram handle. They then followed each other and she began sending him flirty messages.

From sexting the man, the oncologist, from Toronto, Canada, took the relationship to the next level by staying with him during treatment for his illness and having sex in his hospital bed.

She, however, told him to keep the relationship secret as she was concerned the college would become aware of their sexual and inappropriate relationship.
But the patient, who will not be named, was devastated when Sundaralingam ended the affair and explained to him that she was in love with a colleague.
The man, who cannot be named, said:

Quote:It's difficult for me to talk to anybody about it because the reality is that I'm a male so for me to say, 'Hey, I dated my oncologist,' it wouldn't be a surprise for someone to say 'Cool.' But that's not cool.
'That's not the case because I feel abused, and it's very difficult as a male to come out and say that about a female. It's usually the other way around.
I was physically emaciated and emotionally exposed and the loss of a critical relationship defeated me. What compounded this toll was her refusal to continue providing medical care at the same time.
At the time, I was unable to see the ramifications of dating my treating oncologist. I couldn't see how vulnerable I was and how much power she had over me.

Sundaralingam, who treated the man 23 times between January and July 2015 and once in March 2016, was stripped of her license on Wednesday, January 30, after pleading no contest and being found guilty of sexually abusing a patient.

Sundaralingam leaves a disciplinary hearing

Discipline panel chair John Langs said at a disciplinary hearing:

Quote:From virtually the beginning of your doctor/patient relationship, you crossed boundaries and ultimately sexually abused an extremely vulnerable patient suffering from a life-threatening illness.
The committee can only hope that this process prompts you to undergo a long, hard searching self-examination of what lies behind your abusive and abhorrent behavior.
You were responsible for your patient's health, care and support, but instead you took advantage for your own personal satisfaction.
You then withdrew that support for your own personal preference at a time when your patient was at his lowest point. You have disgraced yourself and the profession.

Sundaralingam must now pay $16,000 to cover patient therapy costs, and an additional $6,000 to cover the discipline hearing costs, The Star reports.

FG plans to shutdown internet access to rig the 2019 election- Gov Wike alleges

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has alleged that the Federal Government through the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) has directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to work with internet service providers to shutdown internet access during the forthcoming elections.

According to Governor Wike, shutting down internet access by the NSA and INEC is aimed at facilitating the rigging of the 2019 General elections. The governor said this when he received a courtesy visit by Savannah Centre Council on Peaceful and Violence Free in Nigeria at the Government House Port Harcourt.

Quote:"The National Security Adviser has met with INEC to ensure that internet service providers shutdown the internet, so that foreign bodies won't see what's happening in the country during the elections. They will jam all the frequencies and internet services to stop real time communication during the elections. This plot to rig the forthcoming elections is a recipe for violence. They will not succeed in whatever they are planning. The world will be informed about their criminal activities".
The governor said that the negative actions of the Buhari administration indicate that they will not accept defeat when they lose the forthcoming elections. He advised President Muhammadu Buhari to emulate Former President Goodluck Jonathan who placed Nigeria above personal consideration.
Quote:"I don't think this administration will willingly accept defeat. They should emulate Former President Goodluck Jonathan who lost elections and accepted the outcome. There was no litigation. He went back home and did not generate crisis", he said.

  Jimi Agbaje Opposes Ambode’s Impeachment
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 02-01-2019, 03:07 PM - No Replies

Quote:The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos, Jimi Agbaje, has asked members of the House of Assembly and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) not to plunge the state into chaos over moves to impeach Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

Reacting to reports that lawmakers this week issued Ambode a seven-day ultimatum to defend his supposed inability to submit the 2019 budget to the House, Mr Agbaje sued for peace, saying the move was capable of jeopardising the smooth running of the state.

Mr Agbaje said: “Of course, the way Lagos politics has been structured over the last two decades, government actions are often dictated by open and covert objectives. That the legislators are hinging their action on the purported delay of the budget is simply a smokescreen for a very shameful undertone that the Honourable assembly members will not want to make open. They are yet to tell us their actual motivation for this superfluous move to shame the Governor.”

The governorship hopeful, who made this known in a statement issued by his Directorate of Media and Publicity on Thursday, added that the timing of the planned impeachment was wrong with elections just a few weeks away.

“I received the news of the impending impeachment of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode with a lot of reservation, especially with its timing and motive. This is just 19 or so days to the Federal elections and the governorship, a fortnight thereafter. So the natural questions to ask are: Why this haste? And what is the motive?” Mr Agbaje said.

He stated that although the Legislature reserved the right to perform oversight functions, “such a responsibility should not be abused. It should be carried out in a manner that places the citizens’ interest above any pecuniary benefit to a vested interest.”

Calling on Lagosians to note what he termed an unfolding tragicomedy, Mr Agbaje urged them to choose his party, PDP, as a viable alternative to the ruling APC that had proved incapable of putting its house in order.

He noted: “Governance has ground to a halt owing to the schism between the two arms of government, both of which are dominated by APC. From all indications and from the findings that I have conducted, the action of the lawmakers is nothing but self-serving as dictated to them by the cabal ruling the state.”

Mr Agbaje carpeted the state chapter of APC for allowing the schism between both the Executive and the Legislature to fester for this long, saying, residents had been made to bear the brunt.

“The situation, in which we Lagosians find ourselves, calls for prayers. But more than that, the people of the state should take the practical step of voting PDP into office as the viable alternative,” Mr Agbaje said.

“During interrogation, they confessed to the crime and aided operatives to recover the stolen car. They equally confessed to series of car snatching operations in Lagos and other contiguous States. They also led the operatives to recover one Honda Saloon Car with Reg. No. GGE-954-BQ which they snatched in Delta State” he added.
The police boss says the police is on the trail of other members of the gang still at large.

Buhari And His Niger Republic Election Riggers – Yomi Lawal

For the first time in Nigerias history, a candidate has brought in foreigners to campaign for him.

Two governors from Niger republic, that same Niger republic buhari wants to use Nigerias money to build railway line into, came, wore APC dresses and campaigned for buhari the supposed Nigerian president.

This is for those non-northerners, especially those from SW, SE, SS and MB who have been supporting buharis crass nepotism. A nepotism so great a foreigner is your present NIA Director! There is nothing left to explain your support aside madness, yes my dear brothers and sisters, you are mad.

Aside from being mad, there is increasing indication you will die like chicken when the fruit of your madness goes into production phase.

We can now all agree that buhari and APC are indeed using foreigners from Niger republic to rig the election. There had been reports that these foreigners do have PVCs, unconfirmed reports say INEC is also keeping secret over 5k polling Units out of the 13K polling units (in Lagos). Safe to say more of such polling units are in the North supposedly for the IDPs.

Can a man of integrity rig elections? Again buhari has shown he has not a shred of integrity, rather the greatest international criminal Africa has ever known. Ladies and Gentlemen, you have a religious fundamentalist as your president! His 2nd term is geared towards killing as many Christians as he can and making himself life president..wake up.

Beautiful Woman Leaves Touching Suicide Note After Killing Herself (Photo)

A gorgeous 27-year-old woman has shocked many after leaving a sad suicide note before taking her own life.

[size=undefined]

A young Manhattan dietitian Tara Condell hanged herself in her West Village apartment after posting a suicide note online in which she apologised to her mother.

She said “felt absolutely nothing during what should have been the happiest and darkest times in my life,” police sources said Thursday.

The 27-year-old Condell, from San Francisco was found dead with a cloth around her neck inside the bedroom of her home on West 10th Street around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday after police were called to the residence for a wellness check, sources said.

Worried co-workers called the cops after Condell did not show up for work at the Midtown office of Top Balance Nutrition on Wednesday and saw that Condell posted the note to her website, according to sources.

One of Condell’s co-workers was waiting outside the woman’s home by the time cops arrived.

In addition to the note left on her website, Condell left another suicide note in a folder in her living room, sources said.

Condell who, according to her website, is a registered dietitian nutritionist specializing in general nutrition, weight management, gastrointestinal disease and diabetes care, apologized to her mother at the end of the note posted to her site, saying, “I’m really sorry mama.”

The young woman began the note which was titled, “I Hate The Word ‘Bye,’ But See You Later Maybe?”

“I have written this note several times in my head for over a decade, and this one finally feels right. No edits, no overthinking. I have accepted hope is nothing more than delayed disappointment, and I am just plain old-fashioned tired of feeling tired.”

“I realize I am undeserving of thinking this way because I truly have a great life on paper. I’m fortunate to eat meals most only imagine. I often travel freely without restriction.

“I live alone in the second greatest American city (San Francisco, you’ll always have my heart). However, all these facets seem trivial to me,” Condell wrote.

She continued: “It’s the ultimate first world problem, I get it. I often felt detached while in a room full of my favorite people; I also felt absolutely nothing during what should have been the happiest and darkest times in my life.

“No single conversation or situation has led me to make this decision, so at what point do you metaphorically pull the trigger?”

Osun Election Tribunal: APC Witnesses Authenticate Results Alteration
User Avatar Forum: News

Quote:By Our Reporter

The Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal continued sitting Thursday with the All Progressives Congress (APC) trying rationalise alterations of election results as reflected in the forms EC8As, submitted as exhibits by the Petitioner, Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP), Senator Ademola Adeleke.

APC counsels led by Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) and Abiodun Owonikoko (SAN) attempted to shift the legality of the alterations to the INEC ward collation agents and the provisions of the guidelines issued for the conduct of the election.

While the court admitted the INEC guidelines for the election despite PDP’s counsel’s Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu’s objection, the witnesses produced by APC failed to toe the line marked out by the APC legal team.

The witnesses all admitted that any alteration of the result should have reflected on the pink copy, and signed by all party agents at the polling centers, thus confirming that in most cases, the alterations did not reflect on the pink copies, party agents’ names/signatures were either not written at all or were forged.

The petitioner’s counsel were able to extract these facts from APC witnesses thereby buttressing PDP’s allegations and submissions that several election results were doctored to reduce the margin of PDP victory on September 22.

Another APC witness equally proceeded to confirm that the disparity between the pink and the purportedly certified true copies violated the INEC election guidelines.

The guidelines had stated that in case of any alteration of results at collation centres, such must be reflected on the carbonated pink copies. In several cases, it was not the case as confirmed by APC’s witnesses.

After taking three witnesses, lawyers to the APC abruptly stopped calling more witnesses when It was evident that the witnesses were inadvertently strengthening PDP’s case instead of theirs.

The tribunal continues sitting today.

ASUU Strike: Nigerian Leaders ‘Value Cow More Than Youths’ – Nnamdi Kanu
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, on Thursday, weighed in on the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

Kanu lamented that the Federal Government allegedly budgeted N91billion for grazing reserves while nothing was allocated for education.

ASUU began its current strike on November 4, 2018 and the end to the industrial action seems not to be close as the Federal Government was yet to meet the demands of the aggrieved lecturers.

Reacting to the protracted strike, Kanu wondered why youths are still supporting leaders who he claimed, valued their “cows more than them.”

In a tweet, the IPOB leader wrote: “N91Billion for grazing reserves but nothing for education. ASUU is still on strike. Youths whose future are being stolen are in support of their oppressors who value their cows more than them.

“Nigeria is indeed a Zoo? No wonder Africans are easy to enslave, it’s genetic.”

NCC, CBN, police move to fight e-fraud
Friday, February 01, 2019  BUSINESS
                            [Image: NCC-Financial.jpg]
The Federal Government is to develop a roadmap that would be used to curb the menace of financial fraud using telecoms/electronic platforms.
Also, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), is working with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Nigeria Police, and other relevant agencies to fight electronic e-banking fraud.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ forum on financial fraud using the telecoms platform, Wednesday in Abuja, Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, said the incidence of financial fraud using telecom platforms has become pervasive.

He added that apart from leading to the loss of reputation and income, it is also tied to direct financial loss of billions of Naira in the financial services sector, e-commerce, and telecommunications.

Shittu, who decried the high rate of identity theft, said government is putting its full might behind efforts to confront the menace, and to put an end to it. He said: “As a fall out of technological advancement, knowledge has increased and control has become even more complex, creating gaps which are being exploited by miscreants and nefarious individuals always looking to beat the system. Indeed, the financial climate is overhung with deliberate attempts by fraudsters to outsmart erstwhile air-tight measures; hence the need for our deliberations today, the impact of online fraud cannot be underestimated or denied.”

He observed that Africa pioneered the mobile payment sector, but lost intellectual property and leadership in the process, adding that cross border transactions heavily rely on external costly platforms.

Also speaking, Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Prof. Umar Danbatta, said the malevolent use of technology has become a growing concern in the industry, especially in the era of financial fraud. He observed that mobile channels have been seized by cyber-criminals as a new avenue for fraud, adding that mobile apps as a whole are now quite easy for hackers and cyber criminals to hijack, making them tools for fraudsters’ credentials, impersonate genuine account holders, and gain illicit access to funds.

“Phishing tactics and social engineering ploys such as the SIM Swap are part and parcel of the online fraud mechanism, regardless of whether the transactions are conducted via mobile phone, desktop browser or point of presence.”Danbatta further noted that, “Despite advances in software technology, human intervention is still required to prevent SIM swap fraud which is difficult to detect. Banks are still trying to find effective ways of identifying when a customer’s mobile number has been fraudulently swapped and ported onto a new device.”

The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) cumbersome documentation process may have delayed about 25 vessels currently stuck on the Lagos high sea, laden with petroleum products, and other goods waiting to berth and discharge the products for domestic consumption.

The latest Shipping Position released by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), revealed that the vessels carrying Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) also known as petrol; Automated Gas Oil (AGO) or diesel; base oil, general cargo and containers, are currently waiting to berth upon Customs approval.

The vessels, mostly tankers, were tagged, CRNAPP, meaning Customs Release Not Applicable (West Coast). However, about 21 more ships are expected at the Lagos Pilotage District, between now and February 9th, with three of them laden with PMS, and others conveying fish, sugar, general cargo, trucks and containers.

Meanwhile, the latest Maritime Industry Forecast 2019-2020, released by the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), projected a decrease of oil tanker fleet size by 11.2 per cent for 2019, but will recover to a positive growth of 0.11 per cent by 2020.

The report stated: “Against this backdrop, the empirical analysis projects the growth of the total fleet size in 2019 over 2018 to be 10.33 per cent, easing to 8.75 per cent for 2020. Oil tanker fleet size is projected to decrease by 11.2 per cent for both 2019, and recover to a positive growth of 0.11 per cent by 2020. The projections for non- oil tanker fleet size is estimated to increase by 14.3 per cent in 2019 and 10.2 per cent in 2020, while Oil Rig count is projected to increase by 6.98 per cent and 6.5 per cent for 2019 and 2020 respectively.”

The report also stated that although Nigeria is a predominantly oil producing and exporting nation, it is however heavily dependent on imports, hinting that delay in the passage of the Petroleum Industry Governance Bill (PIGB), is affecting the industry growth, as many projects are stalled, while others have been suspended over uncertainty surrounding the regulation.

“It is also believed that the passage of the PIGB will attract multinationals into the downstream sector of the industry, leading to the setting up of refineries, which will eventually lead to Nigeria being a net exporter of refined petroleum products. If this happens in the next one or two years, it will lead to the demand of refined petroleum tankers and more importantly it will create a very robust bunkering business in the maritime industry, which is capable of generating over $3 billion per annum,” the report stated.

A consultant and faculty at the Lagos Business School, Dr. Doyin Salami, who reviewed the forecast, said it was expected that in 2019, the PIGB will be passed; the anti-piracy bill will become law, and more International Maritime Organisation (IMO) conventions would be domesticated in Nigeria.

MTN is target of claims, threats in Nigeria

MTN Group Limited, formerly M-Cell, the South Africa-based multinational mobile telecommunications company, operating in many African, European and Asian countries, is not new to controversies. But MTN’s love for high-risk emerging markets like Nigeria is biting it big time.

The telco has been caught in web of claims, charges, fines and all manners of harassment by all tiers of governments and agencies in Nigeria. To some, MTN maybe the architect of their many misfortunes in Nigeria by refusing to do business the Nigerian way.

Others, however, expressed concerns over the harassment and threats to its operations from many quarters in the country.Only recently, MTN Nigeria kicked against the arbitrary shutdown of its base transmitting facilities by the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS), over allegations that it has not met its tax obligations to the government.

According to Tobechukwu Okigbo, MTN’s Corporate Relations Executive, “To the best of our knowledge, the Minister of Finance’s recommendation as provided in the Act is yet to be issued, and as such, it is unclear if the imposition of the fee by the Kogi State Government is on solid legal footing.

But Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), advised MTN to first pay the disputed N50 million taxes to resolve the current impasse between it and Kogi Government.Mr Gbengba Adebayo, chairman of ALTON, said that it was necessary for MTN to pay the Social Services Contribution Levy (SSCL) to the state revenue agency first and seek legal redress in court afterwards.

Experts worry that continued threats to MTN operations, may have adverse security and economic, impact on the country because of their classification as Critical National Infrastructure (CNI).Such ignorance of the critical nature of telecommunications facilities led Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), to violence and the needless destruction of MTN property last year when it picketed it.

Also the recent dispute with Nigerian authorities over $10bn in repatriated funds and back taxes is too much distraction to business.Though the matter has been resolved; to Nigeria, such costly claims raise questions about investment security in the country.

There have been also sporadic fines from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) for various alleged offences including the huge N330 billion fine imposed on it due to its inability to disconnect improperly registered SIM cards.Though MTN appears recalcitrant and eager to stay in Nigeria, the telco’s future may be tied how much Nigeria values her operations.

FG Targets $2bn FX Earnings Yearly from New Aviation Initiative
Friday, February 01, 2019  BUSINESS

The federal government has disclosed that it has taken steps to designate strong, viable indigenous carriers to operate international destinations in order to grow the country’s foreign exchange (FX) earnings by $2 billion yearly through ticket sales.

Also, given the country’s low revenue generation level, the government is considering what it described as tough measures to achieve higher revenue.

It said it has also certified local aircraft maintenance organisations to stop Nigerian airlines from taking their aircraft overseas for major maintenance checks.

Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Captain Muhtar Usman, told Akelicious that in all the recent Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) Nigeria entered into, the government also made it clear that foreign airlines must have to partner domestic operators.

He said the government also designated Nigerian carriers to operate long haul destinations, just as he projected that in the next four years, Nigeria would save over $2 billion annually through the initiative when the policy is fully implemented.

This he said would enable the Nigerian carriers benefit from skills acquisition, fleet renewal and revenue generation.

“Nigeria needs very strong viable airlines to operate those routes. The government has done what it needs to do, designate the operators to operate those routes. I know airlines have been designated along the routes you mentioned such the United States, United Kingdom and some other countries both in the Middle and Far East. It is for the operators to explore it and operate because we have other international airlines coming from those countries.

“The caveat is always for that operator to meet the requirements for both countries they want to operate into. So nobody who has been qualified has been denied the opportunity to go. It is in the interest of Nigeria; that is why we have been promoting our operators to operate along those routes because we will be able to attract foreign exchange or at least conserve what we have instead of repatriating them through foreign airlines,” the Director General said.

He added that with viable and strong airlines, more jobs would be created in the sector, adding that it would promote competition, “which may help in stabilising the market and also bringing down the cost of air fares and also improvement of service.”

Usman said most of the BASA Nigeria had signed has partnership clause with indigenous carriers.

“Most of the bilateral air service agreements signed by Nigeria have those provisions in place, code sharing and so on. But the airline has to meet the requirement of the other airlines.

“So, it is meeting the requirements of both airlines to harmonise and operate. Provisions are always there for Nigerian operators to explore and indigenous carriers that were designated participated in most of the bilateral air service agreements Nigeria signed with these countries,” he added.

Usman stressed that the objective of government to approve and certify indigenous aircraft maintenance organisations was to encourage them to conduct major aircraft maintenance locally and in doing so save the country of over $1.7 billion annually, which is near the amount Nigerian carriers spend in maintaining their aircraft overseas.

Recently Aero Contractors and Seven Star Global received Aircraft Maintenance Organisation (ATO) certification from NCAA to conduct maintenance on Boeing and other aircraft types up to C-check. Aero has since been conducting checks on Boeing B737 classics.

Usman said the objective of granting them licence was to stop Nigerian airlines from taking their aircraft overseas for maintenance.

“Well, that is the essence; in fact we will hope that they can even go beyond C-check and up to D-check if necessary. At least the maintenance facilities will be able to do C-check so that we can conserve that foreign exchange taken overseas.

“This will also create employment and also grow experienced manpower in our country and within the region. Yes, we will continue to encourage and ensure that they meet and they continue to meet the certification that we have given them,” the NCAA boss added.

Mulls ‘Tough Reforms’ to Mobilise Higher Revenue

Meanwhile, given the country’s low revenue generation level, the federal government is also considering what it described as tough measures to achieve higher revenue.

Minister of Finance, Mrs. Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed, disclosed this while speaking on the topic ‘Revenue growth & Economic development: Expectations for 2019,’ at the Deloitte Nigeria 2019 Economic Outlook held in Lagos yesterday.

The minister reiterated that the government was planning higher Value Added Tax (VAT) and excise duties for carbonated drinks produced in Nigeria, “for which companies do not pay excise.”

According to her, “We still need to do more to achieve higher revenue outturn. Peer comparison on our ability to convert Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to revenue for capital and social investment- key drivers of sustainable economic growth -show that we have a lot to do to catch up. Nigeria must mobilise significant resources to invest in human capital development and critical infrastructure.

“Indeed, some reforms will be tough, but it must be done if we will look at the facts and be frank to ourselves. Given the low revenue to GDP ratio (currently at about seven per cent), we must pursue optimal revenue generation,” she added.

Speaking further, Ahmed said the federal government’s recently launched Strategic Revenue Growth Initiatives (SRGI) aims to boost revenue generation in order to meet “our targeted revenue to GDP ratio of 15 per cent as set out in the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP).”

The minister noted that in 2018, the federal government recorded revenue of N6.9 trillion, which according to her was unsatisfactory.

She listed some of the key achievements of the federal government to include the Treasury Single Account (TSA) implementation, IPPIS implemented across several MDAs to improve public service productivity and increase government revenue and the establishment of Efficiency Unit to cut costs and block leakages.

“We will continue to ensure fiscal discipline and optimise some revenue improvement initiatives that have been achieved thus far. By prioritising revenue generation, the federal government intends to continue significant investments in human capital and critical infrastructure to sustain the growth trajectory.

“Our social investment programme has moved from 0 to 13.5 million in three years, which is the fastest in the world. On debt management, our debt level is sustainable but debt service is high compared to revenue collections, indicating the need to prioritise revenue generation. We have the capacity to service our debt,” Ahmed added.

She pointed out that global trends revealed slowdown in global economic growth that was exacerbated by global risks, which were discussion highlights at the recently concluded 2019 World Economic Forum in Switzerland.

In his presentation, the Minister of Budget and National planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, confirmed that the government was considering the privatisation of some power plants, adding that the government does not want to increase its borrowing.

Owing to its decision not to raise the level of borrowing, Udoma said, “Capital expenditure has been reviewed downwtrillion he 2019 Budget.”

In his contribution, a senior lecturer at the Lagos Business School, Dr. Doyin Salami, pointed out that the direction of global interest rates is pretty much established presently, saying “they are headed up.”

“Nigeria cannot afford a situation where industrial capacity is as low as it is. Our industry must contribute a quarter or three quarters of GDP for us to grow,” Salami added.

A trader whose name yet to be ascertained has abandoned the killer-drug, Tramadol, which he concealed in bags of Garri and disappeared into thin air to evade arrest.

The Director-General of National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Professor Moji Adeyeye, made the disclosure at the inauguration of NAFDAC’s Young Against Drug Abuse (YADA) awareness campaign and stakeholders meeting in Onitsha, Anambra State yesterday. Adeyeye confirmed that the trader emptied cartons of tramadol and scattered them in garri bags and bolted on sighting the inspectors of the agency. He is still on the run.

“NADFAC has confiscated some tramadol weighing 225mg which market value is about N12.5 million in Onitsha, Anambra State, and concealed them in five bags of garri. No arrest has been made yet”.She attributed the discovery to the lifting of embargo on NAFDAC to gain entry to the borders and ports by President Muhammadu Buhari, explaining that since May 2018 it has confiscated 86 containers of tramadol and other unregistered pharmaceutical products injurious to public health.

“Having been returned to the ports and borders by since May 2018, NAFDAC has been able to control and seize more tramadol and unregistered products worth more than N200 billion.”While speaking on the topic ‘Abuse of Psychoactive Drugs in Nigeria: Our Problem,’ she expressed concern over the increasing spate of drug abuse, especially in the North-Western part of the country.

Adeyeye, who was represented by a director of the agency in Onitsha, Christians Esenwah, renewed calls for the passage of Drug Safety Bill to ensure stiffer penalty against drug peddlers. The NAFDAC boss stated that the fight against drug abuse would cover such domains as families, communities, schools, churches, drug manufacturers, importers and government.

She urged the Federal Government to provide treatment and rehabilitation centres for drug addicts, noting that the agency was using Young Pharmaceutical Group (YPG) campaign to curb the spread of drug abuse in the country.

Also contributing, the state’s YADA Project Coordinator, Onyeka Obidigwe, explained that YADA was a school-based programme targeted at sensitising students on the dangers of drug abuse and misuse.

According to him, “We are targeting the transition points in secondary education at which young adults are prone to drug abuse, especially at the JSS1, SS1 and SS3 classes. These are stages our children are exposed to drug abuse and other social vices. Research suggests that with proper education, children are more empowered to tackle drug abuse or misuse.”

The project coordinator said nine schools were selected for the campaign in the state, adding that Anambra, Osun, Delta, Adamawa, Kano and Lagos States were the six pilot states picked for the one-year project.“YADA is making deliberate efforts to educate the young ones against the use of substances like cannabis, cocaine, marijuana and tramadol,” he said. “That these substances can alter their future and dreams.”

The project is funded by NAFDAC and implemented by Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria Young Pharmacists Group (PYNYPG). More than 50 students from various schools as well as representatives of the police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCD) and PYNYPG, among others attended the event.

Lagos 2019: Why APC may lose Lagos – Action Alliance
Friday, February 01, 2019  politics
                       [Image: PDP-Vs-APC.jpg]
The National Chairman of Action Alliance, Dr. Tunde Anifowose-Kelani, has warned that the impeachment move against Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State might be self-destructive for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The chairman in a statement on Thursday, described the plot as unwise and said it could result in APC losing Lagos in the upcoming gubernatorial election.

He advised the party to quickly resolve the crisis between the governor and the state legislature.

“It is sheer callousness and abject insensitivity with selfishness for anyone to think of impeaching Governor Ambode after he was denied the second term opportunity.

“Ambode, being a gentlemen, took the slight in good faith and with humility.
“The fact that he was denied a second-term ticket does not mean that Lagosians are sleeping at all .

“They are watching as events unfold, and for a group of people to embarrass the governor, it shall meet high resistance with Lagosians’ votes.
“We, hereby, call on the leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to caution and lecture the political opportunists with immediate effect on the adverse effect of their negative intention on APC in the state.
“We appeal to those involved to stop the impeachment threat or face mass mobilization of voters against their elections in the state,” he said.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

FRIDAY, 1ST FEBRUARY.

SEE AND LIVE FROM YOUR HEART.

For with the heart man believeth… (Romans 10:10).

Being born again, you received the life and nature of God into your heart, that is, your spirit. The eventual transformation and glory evident in your soul and body are the result of the impact and influence of the life and nature of God in your spirit. This is why God wants you to nurture and develop your spirit.

Your spirit is God’s temple; His dwelling place: that’s where the Kingdom of God is (Luke 17:20-21). No wonder we’re counselled to guard our hearts with all diligence: “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23).

Everything you require for your life is in your heart. The house you’ll live in is in your heart; the money you require is in your heart; the health of your body is in your heart! Life in its fullness is in your heart; therefore, learn to live from your heart.

When you live from your heart, that is, from the inside out, you wouldn’t be bothered about the happenings outside; your experiences wouldn’t determine your response to situations. The economy of the world or of the country where you live may be in shambles, but you’re unmoved, because you’ve learnt how to enjoy your prosperity and turn it on from within you.

Learn to see from your heart. What you see with your heart is more real than what you see with your physical eyes. 2 Corinthians 4:18 says, “While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” Seeing with your heart means envisioning and apprehending the realities of the Gospel and of our Kingdom-life with your spirit.

The more important things of life—the eternal things—are all in your heart; therefore, look inwards, and live from there. Isaiah 12:3 says, “Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation”; where are these wells? They’re in the deep recesses of your heart!

PRAYER

Blessed Lord, in you I put my trust, living the higher life, which you preordained for me to live, following the light and guidance of your Spirit from within me. I’m making progress with giant strides, triumphing all the way, because you’ve set me on high, and established my path in glory, and prosperity, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Ecclesiastes 3:11 He hath made every [thing] beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.

Proverbs 23:26 My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.

Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

#TALKINGSESSION

1ST FEBRUARY.

KINDLY SAY THESE WORD OUT LOUD

Dear Father, I thank you for imparting the divine life into my spirit through your Son Jesus Christ. That life in me destroys, paralyzes, and renders ineffective the works of the devil and his attempts in my life, family, finances, and business.

Thank you for making me the dispenser of your glory, wisdom, grace, and excellence. Your excellence and virtues are manifested in, and through, me in ever-increasing splendour! I am continually transfigured from glory to glory, by the Spirit, as I behold the glory of God in the Word, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God bless you

INEC Declares Kashamu As PDP Governorship Candidate In Ogun
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 02-01-2019, 07:58 AM - No Replies

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced Buruji Kashamu as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun state.

The commission announced this in the final list of governorship candidates released on Thursday.

Ladi Adebutu and Kashamu had been at loggerheads over the governorship ticket of the PDP in the state.

A statement from the party: “The PDP cautions the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, to insulate the commission from unnecessary controversies by immediately obeying the judgment of the Court of Appeal of December 18, 2018, and without further delay reflect Hon. Ladi Adebutu’s name on the ballot, in the interest of a hitch free and peaceful election in Ogun state.

“The PDP states that Hon. Ladi Adebutu’s name was duly and statutorily submitted to INEC after he won the governorship primary conducted by the National Working Committee (NWC), the only body empowered by law to conduct such primaries. The PDP has not substituted his nomination with anybody and such is not in our contemplation.”
