A woman allegedly killed her daughter by mistake after getting drunk.

The woman identified as Mrs. Mirriam Kalonda of Lusaka in Olympia, Zambia – mistakenly killed her only daughter believed to be just three weeks old.

According to The Zambian Observer, Mirriam had a lot of drinks on a Saturday night with her friends who came to visit her home.. It is believed she slept over her daughter as she was very drunk and woke up in the morning with a dead baby girl’s body

Her husband has said he will file for divorce and insist she should be jailed for killing their only child because of her recklessness and unacceptable behaviour.

He came back from work in the morning as he was working night shift, only to be greeted with the sad news.

Mr Richard Kalonda further said he stopped her from taking alcohol but she couldn’t listen and this is the disappointment she could offer to him and the family-at-large

Meanwhile, Mirriam is said to be currently under observation as she also attempted to kill herself after what had happened.

A woman was shocked to discover her 103-year-old mum was still alive 61 years after losing contact with her family.
Eileen Macken, 81, had lost hope of finding her birth mother but made a breakthrough earlier this month, Metro UK reports.
She tracked down her elderly parent with the help of a genealogist who decided to help her after she phoned into RTE Radio One’s Joe Duffy’s Liveline radio show, in Ireland, last year.
Mrs Macken had wanted to find her blood relatives because she felt lonely and also wanted to know her medical history so she could spot any potential problems for her two daughters.
She phoned back into the radio show last week to reveal she had found her birth mum after taking a DNA test.

She said:

‘The sadness that goes with being alone, even to this day, different things would set me off, I’d say, “if only I had a brother, if only I had a sister”, I think it’s just within you that you have no blood relatives. But I have now.’

Mrs Macken, who is married to husband Ronald, said she’d spoken to her mum but was unable to visit her ‘across the water’ for the moment because she recently had an eye operation.

She added:

My mum is 103 and will soon be 104. I spoke to her on the phone but she couldn’t hear me. She’s a bit like myself, I’ve only one good ear.
‘She kept saying, “I can’t hear you, I can’t hear you.” ‘Unfortunately she is across the water and I’ve had two cousins who have come on to help me out since they got the word that I had found who my mother was and where she was.
‘They now know that all I want is to see her.’Mrs Macken, who was raised in Dublin’s Kirwan House from two-years-old, said she wanted to scream from a mountain she was not an orphan anymore after beginning the search for her parents when she was 19.

She also found out she had two half-brothers who were still alive and were in their 70s. She said she was desperate not to upset anyone after getting in contact with her blood relatives.

A family was lucky to escape mishap after their house was invaded by a cobra.

According to reports, the huge reptile was sighted yesterday night in a house at Oduh Ogbagacha in Dekina local government area of Kogi.

A resident raised an alarm and the youths in the neighborhood mobilized themselves before killing the cobra which would have probably done more harm than good to the house occupants.

Meet The Two Teenage Girls Who Disguised As Boys To Keep Father’s Barbershop Afloat

Two teenage sisters in India were recently honored for their grit and determination after it was discovered that they disguised themselves as boys for four years in order to keep their father’s barbershop open after he became ill.
Jyoti Kumari, 18, and her 16-year-old sister, Neha, from Banwari Tola, in India’s Uttar Pradesh state, took over their father’s barbershop in 2014 after he suffered a severe paralytic attack that left him bedridden. The girls were only 13 and 11-years-old at the time, but the barbershop was the family’s only source of income, so they had to do something to put food on the table.
At first, the barbershop was closed, but as the family savings evaporated, Jyoti and Neha reopened it and started running it themselves. But things didn’t go well at first, as some men were skeptical about having girls shave their beards and trim their mustaches, while others treated them badly. So they started disguising themselves as men.
[Image: jyoti-neha-kumari.jpg]Jyoti and Neha barbing
[Image: Jyoti-Neha-Kumari-750x563.jpg]
“This was indeed a tough job but we had no option as well. So we transformed ourselves [to look] like boys. We changed our names like males, dressed ourselves like boys, sported boys’ hairstyle[s] and also behaved like boys,” Jyoti recalled. “But for our efforts, my family would have died of starvation and our study would have been affected.”
The teenage girls cut their hair short, started wearing stainless steel bracelets normally worn by men, and changed their names to Deepak and Raju. Most of the people in their village knew their real identities, but men from surrounding communities had no idea they were really girls. The disguises allowed the girls to keep the barbershop running and earn about 400 rupees per day, enough to provide for their family, pay for their father’s treatment and continue their studies.
Some of the people in the village kept mocking them for posing as men, but the two sisters ignored them and focused on their work, as they had no other choice. They managed to conceal their gender and real identities for four years, but as time went by, they became more confident and recently started revealing their secret to more people.
“Now we have gained enough confidence and don’t fear anyone,” Jyoti Kumari said. “The majority of people have come to know that we are girls.”
After a journalist from the nearby city of Gorakhpur published their incredible story in a Hindi newspaper last week, Jyoti and Neha earned the praise of an entire nation and were even honored by local authorities for their grit and determination in the face of adversity.
“Unfazed by taunts coming from society, they carried the family’s responsibility on their shoulders and arranged livelihood for their parents, braving all odds. This is a wonderful story which the society must be told [about] and they indeed deserve honors,” local official Abhishek Pandey told reporters. “They are [a] brilliant example of women empowerment and we have recommended to the state government [that they get] suitable rewards.”
The girls’ father, who only recently started walking again, also declared himself incredibly proud of them: “They have run the family showing highest level of grit and I am proud of them.”

John Dumelo Wants Marijuana Legalized Just Like Cigarettes

Actor John Dumelo has thrown his weight behind the growing campaign to have marijuana legalized in Ghana. The actor who is also an aspiring politician gave his opinion concerning the issue on a TV show hosted by actress Yvonne Okoro.
In the show, Dining with cooks and braggarts, John Dumelo stated that if substances like alcohol and cigarettes are not illegal, marijuana also ought not to be illegal.
He further stated that the drug should be legalized so that government can generate revenue from taxing it.
He cited countries such as the Netherlands and States in the USA e.g Colorado and California, who have the drug legalized. According to him, those places have proven that marijuana usage doesn’t increase the rate of crime.
Yvonne Okoro countered his claim by pointing out that those countries have strong institutions that help curb crime. John Dumelo however advised Ghana to also set up such institutions.

British-Born Nigerian Lawmaker Fiona Onasanya Jailed For 3 Months

British-born Nigerian lawmaker Fiona Onasanya jailed for lying to police to avoid a speeding ticket. She has become the first female Member of Parliament to be jailed after being sentenced.
Disgraced Fiona Onasanya Labour MP for Peterborough, was caught driving at 41mph in a 30mph zone in her constituency.
However, she went on to collude with her brother Festus to avoid the speeding ticket, naming Aleks Antipow – an acquaintance of Festus – as the driver.
However, he was hundreds of miles away at the time, visiting his parents in Russia. Fiona Onasanya, 35, was jailed for three months while her brother was given a 10-month sentence by judge Mr Justice Stuart-Smith.
He said:

‘It’s a tragedy that you have found yourselves here and in this predicament but it’s a tragedy that you have brought on yourselves.’
[Image: British-born-Nigerian-lawmaker-Fiona-Ona...asnews.jpg]Fiona Onasanya
He added:

‘If she wasn’t an MP or wasn’t in a position of responsibility, she would go inside. It’s not one law for those in a position of power, and another for those who are not.’

Festus, 34, from Cambridge, pleaded guilty to three counts of perverting the course of justice over speeding, including for the July 24 incident.
In the wake of the guilty verdict, Onasanya was expelled from the Labour Party and has launched an appeal against her conviction.

Onasanya took the marginal seat from the Tories with a majority of just 607 at the 2017 election only 18 months ago.

Parliamentary rules require the removal of an MP who is jailed for 12 months or more. But if the sentence is less than that a recall petition can force a by-election if it is signed by more than 10 per cent of the electorate in the Cambridgeshire seat.

Wife Sets Husband’s Side Chic Up By Inviting Her Over And Then Beat Her Up
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 01-30-2019, 09:49 AM - No Replies

A young lady got more than she bargained for after she was lured into a den of torture for having a secret affair with a married man.

The man’s wife set a trap for the mistress after discovering her affair with her hussy. According to reports, the wife had been suspecting her husband of infidelity and finally confirmed her suspicions after her husband forgot his phone at home one day on his way to work.

The wife then plotted to trap his mistress by sending a text message to the side chick she suspected, pretending to be her husband and asking her to come home, so they could ‘get down’.

To make the message even more convincing, the woman in a part of her message wrote; “My stupid wife is not home, come over and let’s make some sweet love”

And the side chick who probably had been waiting for her next sex romp with the man, quickly rushed to his house only for her to realize that she had run into trouble.

The angry wife who had earnestly been waiting for her, beat her up and even took her clothes off, while letting another person record the whole incident after which she uploaded the video online.

Morning Devotional For Wednesday 30th January

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

WEDNESDAY, 30TH JANUARY

IT’S ABOUT YOUR MIND.

And Abraham was old, and well stricken in age: and the LORD had blessed Abraham in all things (Genesis 24:1).

There’re people who think it’s okay to be poor, and that the poorer you are, the closer you are to God. One can’t but wonder how they came to such a twisted and erroneous belief. God doesn’t want His children poor. The poor can’t help the poor, neither can the poor take the Gospel to the ends of the earth.

The Lord said through the prophet in Zechariah 1:17, “…My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad…”; He didn’t say through poverty. Don’t believe in poverty; it’s not from God. If God truly saved your soul, which is so important, then He must have made provision to prosper you.

Don’t believe anyone who tells you rich people might have a problem getting to heaven. Moses, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, Solomon, and many others in the Bible who walked with God in an extraordinary manner were rich, and are all in heaven. Read 1 Samuel 2:8 and see what God does; He “… lifts the poor and homeless out of the garbage dump and give them places of honour in royal palaces...” (CEV).

Some people have remained poor only because they inherited it from their minds, not because they were born poor. Poverty isn’t the state of your birth, neither is it a government-engineered problem, or the absence of required necessities. Rather, it’s when a man’s mind and his mental prowess—his flow of thoughts—become disabled. It’s the disabling of a man’s mental prowess. That means, you can only inherit poverty by thinking the way poor people think. Poverty or wealth is from inside you.

That you don’t have a house or a car doesn’t mean you’re poor. The question is, can you see the house or the car inside you? It’s about your mind! If you can see it, you can have it! The fact that you don’t have any money in your bank account doesn’t mean you’re poor. Your status in life isn’t dependent on the amount of money that you can touch. How much can you see in your heart?

Success or prosperity is from inside you. Based on who you are, and what you have on the inside, whatever finances you require would come to you. Never forget that. So, work on being, and not on having.

CONFESSION

I’m an heir of God and a joint-heir with Christ. The world and the wealth therein belongs to me, because I’m the seed of Abraham. Blessed be God! I have a beautiful and glorious inheritance in Christ. Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY:

Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it [are] the issues of life.
Proverbs 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so [is] he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart [is] not with thee.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

#TALKINGSESSION

30TH JANUARY.

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD

Dear Father, I thank you for giving me the opportunity and ability to influence those in my sphere of contact with the power of the Spirit. I thank you for your blessings and extraordinary provisions in my life. I live to honour you alone, by dedicating my

whole life to the expansion of your kingdom. I thank you because you have given me authority over the devil and his cohorts. The victory of Jesus over the devil and the entire host of darkness was for my sake. The enemy has no place in my home, my body, my finances or anywhere around me, in the Mighty Name of Jesus!

God bless you

From Gistvic.com

The police have arrested six persons who allegedly vandalised the NNPC pipelines at Abule Egba, Lagos, that destroyed 100 houses and 77 vehicles worth millions of naira. Gistvic Reports.

The suspects are PDP House of Assembly aspirant Hon.(Amb) Adedipe Dauda Ewenla, 40, Rasak Oyakunle aka Akeregun; Abdulazeez Agboola aka Boggy, 29; Akin Ayansola alias Babalati, 44; Kazeem aka Aladija, 50 and Saheed Isiola alias Obama, 36.

Parading the suspects yesterday, Police Commissioner, Imohimi Edgal, said: “On December 18, 2018, at about 2am, there was a fire outbreak at Isopako Awori in Abule Egba area of Lagos State.

The fire emanated from the NNPC pipeline that was deliberately ruptured by the vandals in their bid to siphon premium motor spirit (PMS) from the pipe. It destroyed 100 houses and 77 vehicles worth millions of naira.

Following the development, operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja, were detailed to investigate the incident and ensure that the suspects are nabbed.”

He said the operatives were mobilised to the scene and they picked up pieces of evidence for analysis, which led to the arrest of the suspects.

Edgal said during interrogation, Oyakunle confessed to committing the crime and revealed that he owned the generator repair workshop on the spot where the ruptured pipeline was laid.

“Oyakunle confessed that the workshop was located on the spot to enable them siphon fuel undetected,” he said. Edgal said the gang had been in the illicit business for years. Gistvic Reports.

"She wanted rough sex so I gave it to her" beggar said after he raped woman who stopped to help him

A beggar who was caught raping a woman in the middle of the street after she stopped to help him has claimed that he did it because she wanted it.
James Campbell, 31, who lived with his mother in Paisley, Renfrewshire, admitted the attack which took place in Glasgow on August 16 last year.

He was begging in Glasgow when his victim stopped to check on him and try to help. The 57-year-old woman had noticed he was not wearing a top although it was cold and raining. She asked him if he was alright and chatted to him for about 10 minutes. Campbell then followed her and refused to go away.

As the woman walked past a lane, Campbell, who earned between £40 to £100 a day from begging, demanded a kiss before restraining and raping her.
The attack happened at about 6:30pm on August 16, 2018 in a lane between West Nile Street, and Nelson Mandela Place.
Prosecutor Angela Gray said: "He told the woman. 'I love you. I want you to be my girlfriend.' and she replied: 'Don't be daft. I don't even know you."
The court heard that the woman struggled with Campbell and repeatedly told him: "Please don't" and "There is no need for this."
Miss Gray added: "She repeatedly told him to stop and that he was hurting her.
"He did not stop and told her to shut up.
"A solicitor working in an office overlooking the lane saw the incident taking place and phoned the police."
Officers arrived to find Campbell raping the woman and dragged him off her.
The sex attack was captured on CCTV and was described by Miss Gray as "graphic". The rapist had fresh scratch marks on his outer thighs inflicted on him by the woman and the woman was visibly shaken and upset following the sexual assault.
After he was arrested, Campbell reportedly told police: "She wanted rough sex so I gave it to her."
Campbell, who has been in custody since August, last year, was placed on the sex offenders' register.
Sentence was deferred on Campbell until March 1 to obtain background reports.

Jonathan Headlines Atiku’s Campaign In Bayelsa As South-south Drums Support
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 01-29-2019, 11:43 PM - No Replies

Quote:The PDP presidential election campaign recorded one of the biggest victories of its inception as the campaign trail stormed the Oil-rich Bayelsa State and home of the former president of Nigeria; Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. The people of Bayelsa came out in their thousands to welcome the party’s presidential candidate; Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, National Chairman; Uche Secondus, and their own son, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

Bayelsa is one of the PDP’s strongest holds, as the party usually records 95% and above in the state. The implication however, is that the bridges of the PDP have been repaired and the road to Aso Rock, come May 29th 2019, has been made smoother. The respected statesman, endeared his people to vote massively for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who he has given his unalloyed blessings.

The bigger picture is that President Goodluck Jonathan and the former first lady; Patience Jonathan, are highly revered and loved in the South-South. The region which boasts of about 10 million voters, will always toe the lines of their loved son, Jonathan. This is a plus for the Atiku candidacy, as PDP becomes even sure of 98% in the state and 90% in the region.

IDPs Scramble For Food Stuff In Borno Because Of Hunger (photos)

This is one of disastrous event caused by Boko Haram in Borno State. If these people were allowed to go to their farms, this would not have happened. They used to go to their farms and harvest their food products without asking for help from anybody but due to this terrorism, they are gathered in IDP camps without providing adequate food stuffs to them while leaving them in hunger.

Imagine people are fighting to get food items for survival. It was also gathered that the rushing of food items was caused by hunger and lack of cordination during the sharing.

The Illegality Of The Suspension Of The CJN:20 Points To Note By Inibehe Effiong
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 01-29-2019, 11:35 PM - No Replies

@POLITICSNGR

The purported suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Honourable Justice Walter Onnoghen, by President Muhammadu Buhari is unequivocally unconstitutional, illegal, immoral and grossly indefensible. What General Buhari has done, putting it mildly, is a brazen coup against democracy.

The following 20 (twenty) points are worth noting:

1. The office of the CJN is not a ministerial or extra-ministerial position. It is a creation of Sections 230 (1) (a) and 231 (1) and (2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) (subsequently referred to as ‘the Constitution’).

2. The Chief Justice of Nigeria is the head and symbol of authority of the Nigerian Judiciary. The Judiciary is neither an agency of the federal government nor a department in the Executive. It is one of the three Arms of Government and is established by Section 6 of the Constitution. The CJN is to the judicial arm of government what the President is to the executive arm. The three arms are co-equals and none is subservient to the other.

3. The President cannot appoint or remove the CJN unilaterally. The Constitution has explicitly stated the procedure for the appointment and removal of the CJN and no court, tribunal, president or other authority or person in Nigeria can derogate from, override or alter the said procedure.

4. By Section 231 (1) and (2) of the Constitution, the appointment of the CJN requires the compulsory involvement of the three arms of government. The President appoints the CJN on the recommendation of the National Judicial Council (NJC) subject to the approval of the Senate.

5. By virtue of Section 292 (1) and Paragraph 20 and 21 of the Third Schedule to the Constitution, the CJN enjoys security of tenure and is not removable except within the strict procedure and for the specific reasons enshrined therein.

6. The CJN as a judicial officer can only be removed from office by the President acting on an address supported by two thirds majority of the Senate for his inability to discharge the functions of his office or appointment (whether arising from infirmity of mind or body) or for misconduct or contravention of the Code of Conduct. Anything contrary to this procedure is unconstitutional.

7. The NJC has not recommended the removal of Justice Onnoghen to the President. The NJC has not exercised its exclusive disciplinary control over Justice Onnoghen. Only the NJC is constitutionally vested with the power of disciplinary control, including power of suspension, over a judicial officer. In exercising that power, Section 158 (1) of the Constitution states that the NJC shall not be subject to the direction or control of any other authority or person. See the case of HON. JUSTICE RALIAT ELELU-HABEEB & ANOR. ATTORNEY-GENERAL OF THE FEDERATION & 2 ORS. (2012) NWLR (PT. 629) 1011 where the Supreme Court emphatically pronounced on the issue of how a judicial officer can be sanctioned.

8. I have perused the Certified True Copy of the enrolled ex-parte order made by the Code of Conduct Tribunal dated Wednesday, 23rd January, 2019. I find the said order extremely offensive to the Rule of Law. The Order seeks to achieve that which the Constitution has unarguably forbidden.

9. The enrolled order signed by the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), Hon. Danladi Y. Umar, and one other member of the Tribunal (Hon. Mrs. Julie A. Anabor), purports to direct Hon. Justice Onnoghen to ‘’step aside’’ as the CJN and Chairman of the NJC pending the determination of the Motion on Notice dated the 10th day of January, 2019. On the face of the said order, the name of the legal practitioner who moved the motion ex-parte is not stated. This is rather strange. Did the Tribunal suo moto (on its own motion) move the motion?

10. Interestingly, the same Tribunal sat on Tuesday, 22nd January, 2019 and adjourned to Monday, 28th January, 2019 to rule on the Preliminary Objection filed by Justice Onnoghen challenging the jurisdiction of the CCT to try him without recourse to the NJC contrary to the decision of the Court of Appeal in the case of NGANJIWA v FRN (2017) LPELR-43391(CA).

11. The law is firmly settled that once the jurisdiction of a court or judicial tribunal is challenged, the only jurisdiction the court has is to determine whether it has jurisdiction. The CCT having been seized of the frontal challenge to its jurisdiction, could not have granted an ex-parte order on the 23rd of January, 2019 without determining whether it has jurisdiction. In the recent case of ATTORNEY-GENERAL OF THE FEDERATION v. ATTORNEY-GENERAL OF LAGOS STATE (2017) LPELR-42769(SC), the Supreme Court restated this sacrosanct principle thus:
"There is no gainsaying that issue of jurisdiction is radical and a crucial point which when raised, is challenging the competence of the Court to hear and determine the case. Any proceedings conducted by a Court which does not have jurisdiction, no matter how well or brilliantly it was conducted is a nullity. See Dapianlong vs Dariye (2007) 8 NWLR (pt. 1036) 332. That is the more reason why when Court's jurisdiction is challenged, the Court must first of all assume jurisdiction to decide whether in very clear and unambiguous terms, it has or lacks jurisdiction. See State Dosunmu Mansion vs Halliburton Energy Services Ltd (2007) 2 NWLR [pt.108) 211; Nnonye v Anyichie (2005) 2 NWLR (pt. 910) 623. Per SANUSI, J.S.C. (p. 43-45, pp. D - A).

12. The CCT, without determining whether it has jurisdiction over Justice Onnoghen as required by law, proceeded to give a flagrantly illegal order purporting to suspend the CJN from office. That order, with the greatest respect, is reminiscent of the inglorious order given by Justice Bassey Ikpeme stopping further announcement of results of the June 12, 1993 presidential election which crystalized into the criminal nullification of the June 12, 1993 election by the Babangida junta."

13. I have read the long statement made by President Buhari while swearing-in Hon. Justice Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed as the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria. Buhari struggled unsuccessfully to justify his unlawful action by relying on the order of the CCT. The Constitution does not say that the President shall suspend the CJN based on the order of a court or tribunal. It is a desecration of our Constitution for Buhari to suspend Justice Onnoghen.

14. Those arguing that the President merely suspended the CJN and has not removed him are either oblivious of the law or willfully mischievous. The CJN is not an appointee of the President and does not hold office at the pleasure of the President.

15. President Buhari cannot suspend the CJN. The CCT cannot give an order directing the President to remove or suspend the CJN. The CCT cannot ask the CJN to ‘’step aside’’. This conspiratorial attack on the institution of the Judiciary is a dangerous precedent. Can a judge give an order suspending the President from office without recourse to the National Assembly? If the answer is in the negative, why should the President suspend the CJN whose tenure is constitutionally protected without recourse to the NJC and the Senate as prescribed in the Constitution?

16. The CCT Chairman, Danladi Umar, is himself a subject of a pending criminal charge filed by Mr. Festus Keyamo at the Federal High Court on behalf of the EFCC. The CCT Chairman despite the pendency of the criminal charges against him, has not stepped aside and has not been suspended.

17. Mr. Okoi Obono-obla, the President’s aide on Public Prosecutions, has not been fired, arrested or prosecuted despite his indictment by the House of Representatives for certificate forgery as attested publicly by the West African Examination Council. Mr. Maina is yet to be prosecuted for allegedly stealing pension funds. There are myriads of odiferous corruption cases against people and officials who are close to this President. Yet, Buhari continues to shield alleged criminals who are his friends and party men. Mr. Buhari is accusing Justice Onnoghen of failure to declare his assets, however, it is on record that Buhari’s own asset declaration is still shrouded in secrecy, and has not been publicly disclosed as he vehemently promised in 2015. What could be more hypocritical than this?

18. One wonders whether a single Justice of the Supreme Court can determine the decision of the court. The Supreme Court sits in a panel of five or seven Justices. If a decision of the Supreme Court is fraudulent procured through bribery, it is only logical to infer that all or majority of the members of the panel were bribed. I am not holding brief for Justice Onnoghen. However, given the delay that greeted the appointment of Justice Onnoghen, one is tempted to ask whether his security clearance was compromised?

19. Prof. Itse Sagay has stated that the suspension of Justice Onnoghen is constitutional because the President is empowered to remove the CJN for breach of the Code of Conduct. The learned silk, with respect, is turning the law on its head. That line of argument is inconsistent with the right to presumption of innocence enshrined in Section 36(5) of the Constitution. Justice Onnoghen has not been convicted by any court or tribunal. It is therefore preposterous to say that the President can remove him for violating the Code of Conduct.

20. Let me end by submitting that the atrocious, unconscionable, unconstitutional and duplicitous suspension of the CJN by this vicious and totalitarian regime has eroded our democracy. We all have a duty to oppose and resist it, not for the sake of Justice Onnoghen, but for the sake of posterity and the verdict of history. We should not excuse or defend this crass impunity because of political expediency.

Corruption must be tackled, but not by corrupt means. We must send a message to President Buhari that Nigeria is greater than him.

Masquerade converts to Christianity and becomes an evangelist in 6 months after an evangelist preached to him (before/after photos)

A masquerade converted to Christianity after an evangelist met him on the road and preached to him. Six months later, he's now an evangelist and the man who won his soul has taken to Twitter to share on how it happened.

Daniel Olawande said the "Lord led me to preach to a masquerade named Segun." Segun was immediately converted and was sent to a "Rehabilitation and Discipleship school". He is now "saved" and has now become an evangelist.

Onnoghen: Falana Accuses NBA Of Playing Double Standard
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 01-29-2019, 07:54 PM - No Replies

Rights activist, Femi Falana (SAN) has accused the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) of playing double standard by taking a position to support the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen.

Falana argued that it was wrong for the NBA that called for the suspension of judges who were arrested by security agents in 2016 to now turn around to fault the suspension of a CJN, against who pm a charge is pending.

Falana, who was at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to attend to a case, in defiance of the NBA’s directive that lawyers boycott court, said the directive was ignored by many lawyers who turned up in court today.

He said while he faulted the Executive’s decision to suspend the CJN on an ex-parte order, he thinks Onnoghen should resign.

House Of Representatives Approves N30,000 As National Minimum Wage
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 01-29-2019, 07:51 PM - No Replies

Reports reaching Igbere Tv says, the House of Representative has approved N30,000 as the new minimum wage for workers in the country.

The lawmakers passed the bill during Tuesday’s (today) plenary presided over by Yakubu Dogara, the Speaker of the House. They approved the figure after the bill was read and passed for the third time on the floor of the lower chamber of the National Assembly in Abuja.

Prior to the passage of the bill, the House adopted the report of the ad-hoc committee set up to look into the bill presented to the National Assembly by President Buhari. It said it decided to adopt the report of the tripartite committee because of the obvious difficult living conditions in the country.

The lawmakers inserted a clause in the bill which makes it effective from the date it is asserted to by the President. They, however, retained the original clause in the bill which excluded employers of less than 25 people from paying the new minimum wage.

In the face of the recent development, the bill would be sent to the Senate for concurrence. Earlier, the lawmakers concluded debate on the 2019 Appropriation Bill, as well as read and passed it through the second reading.

They consequently referred the bill to the House Appropriations Committee and other related sub-committees for further actions. The House then adjourned plenary till February 19, after the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Man’s Wedding To A Younger Bride In Anambra Ozubulu Sparks Outrage

A recent wedding in the eastern part of Nigeria has got people talking and the reason is obvious. A man who is said to be mentally unstable tied the knot to his beautiful young bride in a traditional wedding graced by family, friends and associates in Ozubulu area of Anambra State.

Internet users have been left wondering on how and why such a wedding was allowed to take place even considering the age gap between the couple.

Facebook user Chibuzor Ikeh wrote;

This man in the picture carrying this girl on his leg is by name Izuchukwu Igwilo from the well known very rich Igwilo family in Ozubulu Anambra State. The man himself "Izuchukwu" is mentally unbalance. He is suffering from demented brain. He is not normal and at the same time he is a drunkard, and he will be at least 56 years old. Now his family wants to marry a wife for him and they got this small girl for him. A 16 years old girl, This girl is from a very poor family... POVERTY IS A VERY BIG BASTARD ...,

The family of this small girl did not waste time to hand over their daughter to Izu's family just because the Igwilo family are very rich. This girl is under age for Heaven sake. This is completely evil. Yes a big evil because Izu will not be the one to be servicing this girl because he can not do anything. This girl will turn to a sex slave to that family and the community ( Everybody will just be collecting their own share)
Devil shame on you.

I know that they brainwashed this girls family that the girl will take care of Izu's large share of land's and other properties, but that will not make them to destroy this little girls future.

Omoni Oboli Exposes Her Income Sources

It is no longer news that a single source of income is never enough to cater to one’s expenses in a dynamic environment like ours.
Filmmaker and author Omoni Oboli wrote a lengthy message on her page, revealing how her mother had various streams of income while they were growing up and this helped shape the woman she has become.
The mom of 3 says 2019 is a year she wants to motivate people to have startups while also disclosing some of the ways she makes money apart from acting.

My name is Omoni Oboli and this year, I’ve decided to motivate as many of you as I can, to think outside this box! I’m a filmmaker…I run Dioni Visions Entertainment, a content production company. The film industry in Nigeria is tough! I won’t lie. Distribution and piracy chief amongst the many issues that plague us but God will strike me if I say I don’t make money from movie production. I have been blessed to be amongst the few studios who break even and make a profit ? I haven’t stopped there… You see, my mom was a school teacher. She also had a farm and every Sat, we went there to plant, weed, harvest cassava, yam, corn etc. She also sold sea food, going to the sea port some evenings after work to buy bags of sea food which we had to wash, sort and bag. We fried chin chin and groundnut which we bottled and sold. My sister and I woke up with her at 4am every morning to make pastries in bulk that retailers came to pick up before 7am when we had to get ready for school so you see, I was taught very early to be hardworking and not depend on just 1 income. Aside from content production, I run arguably the biggest movie and tv lighting (and some equipment) rental business in Nigeria. The biggest productions rent from us (I brag ??). But I haven’t stopped there, I wrote a book that sold thousands of hard copies and is still selling on amazon giving me royalties. Working on my 2nd book already! I also have a thriving fashion line @omoniobolibyave with my business partner @ayovanelmar. I’m working on a few products (too early to mention) this year that by God’s grace will sell like pure water. The thought alone gives goosebumps! You’ve already heard about @omoniskitchen. We have sponsors lining up! God is good! I’m up most nights, plotting, planning with my team. In short @tomesadeoye was saying to me today, ‘I want you to take a day off this week and do nothing! Just wake up, eat and sleep. Don’t even think about work. If you watch movies, don’t take notes, just enjoy yourself’? I’m not superwoman. I know peeps who do more so trust me, if I can, you can do even more! So get up! PS: When I build estates this year, if I hear pim! ? #BeInspired #TheMoneyYear

AFRICA
According to Joyce Dzidzor Mensah, the politicians had sex with her despite knowing her HIV positive status then.
In a lengthy post she shared on Facebook, she stated that their political party, NDC, should pay her now or risk having the names of the men exposed.
Joclyce Dzidzor Mensah wrote:
“ Two very powerful Top NDC politicians who had sex with me. This message goes to you. I still respect you because of your important positions so I will not mention your names for now.
But the same way you people conspired and sabotaged my meeting with Bill gate after my visa was processed and my first class ticket sent to me to fly to Tokyo, that is the same way I will do to you if you are still behaving this way.
I am not blackmailing anyone. As for the sex, we all enjoyed it but the HIV money, am not leaving it. If you people think you can use me for that dirty Job and keep the million dollars to yourselves alone then you must be joking.
I will never lie about my affair with any man. And if am just fabricating sex stories, may thunder strike me dead.
I did all the dirty job by sacrificing my image. On top of that, you people had sex with me. Raw sex no condom.
I remember that particular sex we had, five rounds at a go giving you all my styles and yet you people will do this to me.
Give me my money ooo , don’t call me a bad person later.” She wrote on her facebook timeline.
Recall that she once issued a threat to former Ghanaian president John Mahama and his wife Lordina.

Breaking: Scientists Finally Know How Long A Day Is On Saturn
[size=undefined][Image: photovisi-download96.jpg]
NASA’s Cassini spacecraft has revealed that a day on Saturn is just over 10 and-a-half-hours-long, a finding that solved a long-standing mystery of solar system science.
Using new data from the now extinct Cassini mission, scientists led by the University of California-Santa Cruz found that a year on Saturn is 29 Earth years. The day only lasts 10 hours, 33 minutes and 38 seconds.
This was unknown till now because it was hidden in the rings
Christopher Mankovich, a graduate student in astronomy and astrophysics at the varsity, analysed the wave patterns within the rings.
[/size]

[size=undefined]The findings showed that they respond to vibrations within the planet itself, acting similarly to the seismometers used to measure movement caused by earthquakes.
[Image: converted-pnm-file.jpg]converted PNM file
The inside of Saturn vibrates at frequencies that cause variations in its gravitational field. The rings, in turn, detect those movements in the field.
“Particles throughout the rings can’t help but feel these oscillations in the gravity field,” Mr Mankovich said.
“At specific locations in the rings these oscillations catch ring particles at just the right time in their orbits to gradually build up energy, and that energy gets carried away as an observable wave.”

His research, published in the Astrophysical Journal, describes how he developed models of Saturn’s internal structure that would match the rings’ waves.
That allowed him to track the movements of the interior of the planet, and thus its rotation.
Unlike Jupiter and Earth’s magnetic axis that are not aligned with its rotational axis, Saturn is different. Its unique magnetic field is nearly perfectly aligned with its rotational axis.
This is why the ring finding has been key to homing in on the length of a day.
“The researchers used waves in the rings to peer into Saturn’s interior, and out popped this long-sought, fundamental characteristic of the planet. And it’s a really solid result,” said Cassini Project Scientist Linda Spilker. “The rings held the answer.”

Cassini spacecraft, when low on fuel, made a fateful plunge into the atmosphere of Saturn on September 15, 2017, ending its 13-year tour of the ringed planet.

Nigeria Still As Corrupt As Before – Transparency International
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 01-29-2019, 11:29 AM - No Replies

Nigeria is still perceived as a country deep in corruption without clear policies to address the menace, Transparency International said on Tuesday. The anti-corruption campaigner released its 2018 Corruptions Perceptions Index (CPI) Tuesday, finding Nigeria has “neither improved nor progressed in the perception of corruption in the public administration in 2018.”
The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), Transparency International Chapter in Nigeria, said in a Tuesday morning statement to PREMIUM TIMES that “Nigeria scored 27 out of 100 points in the 2018 CPI, maintaining the same score as in the 2017 CPI.”
In the country comparison, Nigeria ranks 144 out of 180 countries this year as opposed to 148 out of 180 countries in the 2017 CPI, the group added. Nigeria is thus still perceived as highly corrupt, and although the ranking shows that Nigeria moved up four (4) places, it only means that four other countries have scored worse while Nigeria stagnated.
The Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) aggregates data from a number of different sources that provide perceptions by the business community and country experts of the level of corruption in the public sector.
The report may receive another knock from the Nigerian government, which often castigated past reports of the organisation. President Muhammadu Buhari dismissed the 2017 findings of Transparency International, suggesting that the group’s findings were politically-motivated to deface his administration.
The president said his administration has done creditably well in stamping out corruption in the country, especially through its much publicised anti-corruption drive that has seen several politicians associated with the last administration of Goodluck Jonathan arrested.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, however, took a different approach to the 2017 report, which was released in February 2018, saying the government had taken it in good faith and would work to improve on its corruption perception by adopting some of the recommendations.

Transparency International, however, rejected allegations of bias in compiling its report, saying it follows strict aggregation standards which had earned it tremendous credibility amongst countries across the world in its 25 years.

In the case of Nigeria, the composite score consists of sources which include:

1. African Development Bank Perception Survey,
2.Bertelsmann Foundation Transformation Index,

3. Economist Intelligence Unit Country Ratings,

4. PRS International Country Risk Guide,

5. World Bank Corruption Perception Assessment,

6. the World Economic Forum Executive Opinion Survey;

7. World Justice Project Rule of Law Index and

8. Varieties of Democracy Project.

“All are impartial, well-respected, statistically significant and evidence-based sources,” the group said.
Transparency International in its 2017 report identified public procurement fraud as constituting a large chunk of corruption in public service and recommended immediate constitution of public procurement council as one of the ways to address the menace.
Some top administration officials responded by promising to establish the council promptly as recommended by the Public Procurement Act 2007. Over a year on, however, the council has not been constituted, and procurement remained enmeshed in suspected fraud.
In December 2017, shortly before Transparency International published its report, PREMIUM TIMES reported that Mr Buhari has followed his predecessors in violating the procurement law by failing to constitute the council and allowing non-transparent contracts to pass through.
The presidency, in a statement by Garba Shehu, replied at the time, claiming the committee was being constituted and would kick off within weeks, a claim that turned out false.
Transparency International’s Nigerian arm, CISLAC, strongly believed that eliminating corruption from public service would propel Nigeria’s economic standing amongst the rest of the world.
In its latest statement, CISLAC repeated some of its past antidotes for corruption as follows:
– Strengthening the institutions responsible for maintaining checks and balances over political power, and ensuring their ability to operate without intimidation.
Closing the implementation gap between anti-corruption legislation, practice and enforcement.

– Supporting civil society organisations which enhance political engagement and public oversight over government spending, particularly at the state and local level.

– Supporting a free and independent media, ensuring the safety of journalists and their ability to work without intimidation or harassment.

DSS gave me dollars to set trap for Farouk Lawan, Otedola tells court
Monday, January 28, 2019 NEW
                        [Image: 0iLLgMfeaw72Ac1CcbK6DkJ2PKgNOhRb25QoMqfa...2yYit=s0-d]
Mr Femi Otedola, a prosecution witness in the ongoing trial of a former member of House of Representatives, Mr Farouk Lawan, over bribery allegation has said the 500,000 dollars offered to the defendant is from the Department of State Service (DSS).

Otedola disclosed this before Justice Angela Otaluka of the FCT High Court, Apo on Monday while being cross examined by Mr Mike Ozekhome (SAN), counsel to Lawan.

He said the money was given to him by the DSS to set a trap for Lawan after he wrote a petition against him.

He accused Lawan of demanding 3 million dollars as bribe from him to exonerate his oil company, Zenon Petroleum and Gas Ltd, from the alleged subsidy scam in 2012.

He further told the court that the 500,000 dollars was part payment of the 3 million dollars being demanded by Lawan, which was eventually given to him under the supervision of the DSS.

Otedola said he petitioned the DSS immediately Lawan demanded for the bribe.

“Lawan said he was going to exonerate my company after giving him the money, security cameras were mounted in my living room to capture the exchange of money between me and the defendant.

“The video is with the DSS, the money was given to him in two tranches $250,000 each,” he said.

When reminded by Chief Ozekhome, that the best time “to catch a thief is when the operation is ongoing,” Otedola said he did not know why DSS failed to arrest Lawan at that moment.

The Judge, however, adjourned the matter till March 8 for continuation of cross examination of the prosecution witness.

Lawan is being prosecuted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) for allegedly collecting 500,000 dollars out of 3 million dollars bribe.

The money was said to have been requested to remove Otedola’s company’s name from the list of firms indicted by the House of Representatives Adhoc Committee on Fuel Subsidy in 2012.

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, who was suspended by President Muhammadu Buhari last Friday, has debunked the rumour gaining traction online on Monday that he has resigned.

Onnoghen, whom President Muhammadu Buhari replaced with the next most senior Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Tanko Mohammed, as Acting CJN, debunked the rumour in a statement on Monday.

The statement was signed by his media aide, Awassam Bassey, who described the CJN’s rumoured resignation as “fake news circulated by mischief makers.”
“Mischief makers are still circulating this fake news. Once again, no truth in it whatsoever. The Hon CJN, Hon Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen, GCON, has not resigned,” Bassey said.
The rumour came less than 24 hours to the emergency meeting summoned by the National Judicial Council to deliberate on Onnoghen’s suspension and Muhammad’s emergence as the Acting CJN.
The Buhari administration has since Friday, come under scathing and widespread criticism locally and from the international community for being ill-timed, coming in the eve of the imminent general elections.

FG Sets N887bn Revenue Generation Target for NCS in 2019
Monday, January 28, 2019 NEW
                       [Image: a3c8d834-nigeria-customs-service-696x522.jpg]
The Comptroller-General, Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Hameed Ali on Monday said the federal government has set a revenue generation target of N887 billion for the Service in 2019.

He assured Nigerians that the figure will be significantly surpassed as the management had earlier set a higher self-target.

Speaking at the opening of the 2019 International Customs Day (ICD) themed: “Smart Border for Seamless Trade, Travel and Transport”, the Customs boss, however, warned that it would no longer tolerate the incessant killing of its officers by smugglers, vowing to counter such attacks with appropriate force going forward.

Ali said the Service intended to raise its revenue drive by acquiring non-intrusive equipment to boost trade facilitation and urged stakeholders to comply with trade rules.

He said the Customs generated N904.072 billion, N898.673 billion, N1.037 trillion and N1.202 trillion in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 respectively, translating to about N4.042 trillion from 2015-2018.
He advised the federal government to crash the clearance cost of vehicles to dissuade smugglers’ illegal activities.

According to him, “We have 35 per cent duty and 35 per cent levy and so if you import a brand new vehicle into Nigeria, you pay 70 per cent duty. From what we have done and based on statistics, we discovered that this duty has now driven most of our importers to our neighbouring ports and also it has increased the rate of smuggling into this country of new vehicles.
“Having interacted with our stakeholders, we discovered from what they said that the sudden increase in duty is what is driving them.

“And since 35 per cent duty cannot be tinkered with, the one that can be tinkered with which is a policy by the Nigerian government, the 35 per cent was put in order to encourage our automotive industry to ensure that it is developed. If we reduce the levy, the volume of cars that would be imported into Nigeria will increase and the revenue from the NCS will increase.

“So we are advising that government should review the levy and we are asking that it should be reduced to about 10 per cent. If you do that, then it will mean that the collective duty on new vehicle will be about 45 per cent.

“That is 35 per cent duty and 10 per cent levy. With that, we will eventually get an increase in volume of vehicles that are imported, smuggling will be reduced and therefore we will realise more revenue and the lives of our people will be saved.”

Ali, however, identified the problems facing Customs to include porous borderlines, inadequate non-intrusive equipment, hostile border community dwellers, high level of non-formal trades, low implementation of ECOWAS Protocol on transit, and low level of compliance among international trade actors, among others.

Reacting to the continued killing of Customs officers on duty, he said: “Enough is enough. We won’t take it anymore. If host communities decide to side with criminals, then it means they are all criminals and will treat them as such. These killings have to stop.

“Border communities, parents, guardians, traditional rulers and other stakeholders should call their ward to order. We will take up arms to protect our officers and men.
“We urge border dwellers to report smugglers’ activities. These are economic saboteurs. We need to jointly protect the country.”

Two men, Ifeanyi Uzoma, 33; and Chukwendu Njoku, 33; charged with tearing a policeman’s uniform, were on Monday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

Uzoma, a businessman, resident in Oshodi, and Njoku, a civil servant, who resides in Mushin, Lagos, appeared before the Magistrate, Mrs M.O. Tanimola, on a two-count charge of obstruction of duty and conspiracy.

Both men, however, pleaded not guilty and were admitted to a bail of N80,000 each with one surety each, who should be gainfully employed and show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

The prosecutor, Inspector Aondohemba Koti, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Jan. 21, at Papa-Ajao Street, Mushin, Lagos.

He said that the accused obstructed the complainant, Inspector Tunde Ikuomola, from performing his lawful duty and also tore his uniform.

Koti said that the complainant was assaulted when he tried to question the accused, who parked a car on the road.

“The complainant and his team saw a Mercedes Benz parked on the road, in a suspicious way.

“When asked of their mission in that place at that time, they could not give a satisfactory answer.

“The accused were asked to open the vehicle for searching, but they refused.

“When the complainant insisted on searching the vehicle, the accused came down from the car; after slapping the complainant, he held his uniform and tore it.

“The accused were taken to the station,” the prosecutor said.

According to the prosecutor, the offences violate Sections 174 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).

Section 174 stipulates three years imprisonment for serious assault while Section 411 prescribes two years for conspiracy.

Tanimola adjourned the case until Feb. 13, for mention.

Husband Exposes His Wife Who Slept On & Killed Their Baby After Getting Drunk (Photos)
A Zambian man is very angry with his wife that he insisted that she should be arrested for allegedly killing their three-weeks-old only daughter by mistake after reportedly getting drunk.

According to Zambian Observer, Mrs. Mirriam Kalonda of Lusaka in Olympia, Zambia, had a lot of drinks on a Saturday night with her friends who came to visit her home.

It is believed she slept over her daughter as she was very drunk and woke up in the morning with a dead baby girl’s body

Her husband has said he will file for divorce and insist she should be jailed for killing their only child because of her recklessness and unacceptable behavior.

He came back from work in the morning as he was working a night shift, only to be greeted with the sad news.

Mr. Richard Kalonda further said he stopped her from taking alcohol but she couldn’t listen and this is the disappointment she could offer to him and the family-at-large.

Meanwhile, Miriam is said to be currently under observation as she also attempted to kill herself after what had happened.

Morning Devotional For Tuesday 29th January

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

TUESDAY, 29TH JANUARY.

PRAYER ISN’T A STRUGGLE.

Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom (Luke 12:32).

Sometimes, when you listen to some Christians pray, it’s obvious they haven’t really understood the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They tend to paint a picture that portrays struggling in prayer; an idea they got from the Old Testament. But we’re in the New Testament now, and Jesus, the One we’re following, never struggled in prayer.

Each time Jesus prayed, His words were simple and profound, full of faith and confidence. He prayed from the standpoint of His oneness with the Father.
He had no consciousness of lack or need, and He wants you to have the same mindset. Imagine His comforting words in our opening scripture: “Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom” (Luke 12:32). Why would anyone know this and struggle in prayer? Then, to think He’s even done it already takes it to a whole new level. He’s already given you the Kingdom.

Understand that the lesser is included in the greater. If you already have “the kingdom,” then you have everything that’s in the kingdom. In His Kingdom, there’s life, righteousness, love, joy, wealth untold, divine health, peace, etc.; all these are already yours. That means the struggle to get God to do any of these or more for you is unnecessary. They aren’t even things you should pray for; they’re part of your inheritance and rights in Christ.

If, for instance, you’re giving someone entry and rights to your house, you don’t carry the house to that person, be it a studio apartment, a bungalow or a three-storey building. You do so by giving the keys to the house to the person. Likewise, you have the keys to the Kingdom of heaven, which means you have access to both spiritual and earthly blessings: “And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 16:19).

What you need is to live every day with the consciousness that the Kingdom is yours. And the Kingdom didn’t come to you empty; it’s loaded with goodness. Once you understand this, you’ll walk through life with boldness, knowing that the world is yours. Then, like Paul, you’ll always be thankful to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the Kingdom of light (Colossians 1:12).

PRAYER

I thank you Lord, for the Kingdom belongs to me; therefore, I have no lack or want. I have all things that pertain to life and godliness, and I flourish exceedingly in every good work, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Romans 8:26-27 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what [is] the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to [the will of] God.

Matthew 6:7-8 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen [do]: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. 8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

#TALKINGSESSION

29TH JANUARY.

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD

Precious Holy Spirit, I appreciate you, and acknowledge your awesome power, presence, and grace in my life! I am confident of a greater tomorrow, and a day-to-day life of ever-increasing glory because you’re the one taking me by the hand, and leading me to fulfil God’s perfect will for me.
Thank you for perfecting all that concerns me.

It doesn’t matter what trouble I get into, one thing is certain, I am coming out of it. It doesn’t matter what proclamation is made against me, they’re to no effect because Christ is my riddance. He rids me of trouble and plucks my feet out of the miry clay. Hallelujah!

God bless you

In separate statements, the international community expressed concern over the timing, saying the action could have effect on the credibility of the elections.

“We urge that the issues raised by this decision be resolved swiftly and peacefully in accordance with due process, full respect for the rule of law, and the spirit of the Constitution of Nigeria,” the US embassy in Nigeria had said in its statement.

But the presidency, in its response, had accused the US of undue interference in Nigeria’s affairs.

Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman, had said the position of the US and other European countries on Onnoghen’s suspension was out of misunderstanding.

Writing via its Twitter handle on Monday, the US embassy restated its support for the nation’s democracy.

“Why does the United States support Nigeria’s #democracy?” it asked.

“Because what happens in Nigeria will affect the world … and it depends on you. It depends on every Nigerian. – Ambassador W. Stuart Symington.”

The Ekiti state governorship petition tribunal sitting in Abuja has declared Kayode Fayemi, governor of Ekiti as the winner of the last governorship election in the state. Fayemi victories were challenged by Kolapo Olusola of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Olusola had filed a petition, alleging that the election was fraught with irregularities and that Fayemi who ran on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) could not be declared a winner.  On Monday, the tribunal unanimously struck out Olusola’s case and ruled that Fayemi is the duly elected governor of the state.

Fayose on the Twitter verified handle react on the victory of Fayemi:

I would have been surprised at the judgment of the tribunal if it had been otherwise because the judiciary was already coerced by the APC led federal government. In fact, the judgement was in public domain and celebrated by APC since the last few days.

Forgive Us For Supporting Buhari In 2015 – Shitu Begs Nigerians
User Avatar Forum: News

Quote:Senator Ubali Shitu representing Jigawa North West senatorial district, has asked the people of the state and Nigerians in general to forgive them for supporting the election of President Muhammad Buhari in 2015 election.

Senator Shitu made the request for forgiveness while addressing thousands of PDP supporters at the party’s rally in Dutse.

Shitu had recently defected from the All Progressive Congress to the major Opposition party, PDP alongside thousands of his supporters for what he described as ” lack of focus ” and fake promises among the leaders of the ruling party.

“I am apologising to Jigawa state people and Nigerians because the President Buhari-led administration is moving contrary to the wishes of common man, “he noted.

He accused the Buhari administration for bringing more hardship on Nigerians in different ways, including price inflation, kidnapping, armed bandit, among others.

He explained that Nigerians were not grateful to Allah fervour during PDP administration and asked for change in the 2015 general election.

“Nigerians are not thankful at all, that is why Allah gives us the changes we are looking for and leaved us to suffer more,” he said.

Shitu said citizens could no longer afford another four years of that kind of leadership as it would plunge them into more difficulties.

He noted that presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and other candidates of the party were the only solutions to the Nigeria’s problems in the forthcoming general elections.

The girl was later found living with the suspect in a manner likely to suggest she was his wife. They lived in a church owned by his parents.
According to the area chief Peter Oula, police stormed the church after they got a tip-off from a member of the public. They found the suspect and the minor naked. The man attempted to flee but was arrested by Administration Police officers at Nyaundho village in Rangwe sub-county, Kenya.
Mr Oula said:

Quote:The young man wanted to escape but police got hold of him. He was responsible for the girl's decision to drop out of school for an early marriage.

The suspect allegedly eloped with the girl and his father was aware of this and did nothing.
When they were caught, the suspect's father attempted to shield him from police officers, telling them the minor had been in the church to receive special prayers.
Oula said:

Quote:The suspect’s father lied to us, saying that the girl had come to church for prayers. This made us conclude he was part of the efforts to have the girl married early.

The suspect, his father and the girl were detained at Rangwe police station.

Autistic woman diagnosed with HIV after she was raped by night shift worker

An autistic woman has been diagnosed with HIV after she was allegedly raped by a night shift worker in a facility where she was being cared for.
The woman in her 50s, named Cassie, was raped at some point between 2006 and 2016 at a facility run by a private company in Brent. She had been in care since she was a child. She was severely autistic and lacked the capacity to consent to sex
The woman suffered from rashes, bruising, teeth problems, and a loss of appetite from around 2007. At some point, she collapsed and was taken to Guy’s Hospital, south London, where it was discovered that she had HIV.
Dr Margaret Flynn found that Cassie had been failed by the people that were meant to be looking after her.
Cassie’s mother believes that she was raped by a night shift worker, but because of the large time frame in which it is alleged to have happened police have been unable to bring anyone to justice.

Scotland Yard began an inquiry into the incident but closed their inquiry in 2017 and the council no longer uses the company involved.
A police spokesman said:

Quote:Due to the 10-year period, the offence was alleged to have occurred between, no clear suspects could be identified and there were no forensic opportunities available.
There are no lines of inquiry that require further examination at this time.

A Brent Council spokesman expressed their "deep and sincere regret to both Cassie and her family" in a statement. The statement also revealed that the council no longer uses the facility involved. Cassie and the other five residents who lived there with her have also been moved to other homes with the co-operation of their families.

Onnoghen: NANS Protests Against Buhari's Action

Onnoghen: NANS protests against Buhari's action

The National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) on Monday protested the suspension of Justice Walter Onnoghen as Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), urging the Federal government to reverse the suspension.

The Union group also described the suspension of Onnoghen as illegal and unconstitutional.

Speaking at the protest, the National Public Relations Officer of NANS, Comrade Adeyemi Azeez, accused the Buhari-led administration of embarking on judicial coup through the suspension of Onnoghen without following the constitution procedure.

Adeyemi argued that no matter how gravious the allegations levelled against the embattled CJN are, the President was not expected to resort to self-help.

According to him, "the leadership of NANS condemn in its entirety the Friday the 25th of January sacking of Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen by President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR is a total affront to rule of law and constitutional democracy in Nigeria.

"Unilaterally and in flagrant violation of the Constitution, he also swore in Tanko Muhammad as the new acting CJN. By this act, the President has precipitated needless confusion in the polity. A shocking action, it will aggravate tension ahead of the general election in February and March. This poses a great treat to our democracy.

"The NANS frowned at the way President Buhari substantiated his action by citing an order from the Code of Conduct Tribunal directing Onnoghen’s suspension, his action is akin to a coup – a judicial coup in this case. In a subtle way, the President has suspended in part an integral part of the Judiciary arm of government by illegally intimidating its highest figure and shamefully deposing him.

"The petition by the Anti-Corruption and Research Based Data Initiative to the Code of Conduct Bureau, accusing Onnoghen of corruption and false declaration of assets has been challenged by the CJN before s competent Court of law and should be allowed to follow due course. The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, in its ruling, ordered the CCT to stay action, pending the determination of Onnoghen’s application that the CCT had no power to try hm. We wonder why Mr. President hurriedly suspended the CJN citing the CCT order.

"No matter how grave the allegations levelled against the CJN,Mr. President cannot resort to self-help in addressing the matter, much against the position of the 1999 Constitution. In the Third Schedule, Part 1, the constitution expressly states the procedure that should be followed in removing the CJN. The process is initiated by the National Judicial Council.

"According to Third Schedule, Part 1, Section 21 (b), “The NJC shall have power to recommend to the President the removal from office of the judicial officers specified in sub-paragraph (a) of this paragraph, and to exercise disciplinary control over such officers.” The officers listed therein are the CJN, Justices of the Supreme Court, the President and Justices of the Court of Appeal; the Chief Judge and Judges of the Federal High Court.

"The NANS having critically analyzed the circumstances leading to the suspension of the CJN called on President Muhammadu Buhari to reinstate the CJN and allow due process and rule of law to take its due course in the alleged case of corruption against the CJN".

Some of the students were armed with placards with some of the following inscriptions : "Buhari's suspension of CJN is mockery to our constitution", "reinstate CJN for free and fair election", "Buhari, go home you are not fit", among others.

Justice Onnoghen: Why Saraki should be declared President now – ADC

The National Chairman of African Democratic Congress, ADC, Chief Ralphs Nwosu, has called on the National Assembly to declare Senate President, Bukola Saraki president of Nigeria.

He said this should be done with immediate effect.

Nwosu made the call in a statement signed and issued, yesterday, by Yemi Kolapo, ADC National Publicity Secretary.

He said the action was necessary considering recent happenings, especially the alleged ridiculing of the constitution by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said the President’s actions indicated that “he could no long continue to rule the nation.”

He said blunders against Nigeria’s fledgling democracy indicated that “the president and his vice, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, were no longer capable of staying in office.”

Accirding to him, “the Presidency had no right to remove or suspend the head of the Judiciary arm of government without due process.”

He added that “the president has committed a grave offence against the nation.”

Nwosu also pointed out that it would be less reckless for the legislature to take over power from this government without necessarily going through any impeachment procedure.

“The National Assembly should declare the Senate president, Dr. Bukola Saraki, president,” Nwosu said

Otunba Akinyele Arrested For Fraud In London

Quote:EKITI PDP HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY CANDIDATE ARRESTED FOR FRAUD IN LONDON
The London Metropolitan Police arrested a Nigerian businessman, Otunba Lekan Akinyele on the 24th November, 2018 for his alleged involvement in investment fraud and money laundering. Otunba Akinyele was arrested at London Paddington Station following complaints that he had swindled many unsuspecting people of funds running into millions of British Pounds. Akinyele, who is a candidate for elective office in his home State of Ekiti, introduced himself to his victims as “Tony Woods” claiming to be a South African investment agent. His fraud and money laundering schemes involved several accomplices top amongst which is his London based wife who goes by the name of "Stephanie". One of the pictures of his arrest at the Train Station show him trying to cover his face but his face is clearly visble in another one. In a video of the incident, one of the arresting police officers can be heard reading him his rights and asking him if he wanted his legal representative to be present during his questioning.

The bubble burst for Akinyele when the funds invested with him failed to yield the promised dividends leading his “investors” to raise serious queries. This led to discoveries that all documentation including bank statements, custom papers and investment certificates provided by the so called “Tony Woods” were false documents. When confronted by his victims, Akinyele went underground. Consequently, criminal complaints were made against him leading to him being arrested by the London Metropolitan Police. He was taken in for questioning and released on bail pending further investigations. It is however reported that he jumped bail and fled back home to Nigeria where he is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Ekiti State House of Assembly Efon Constituency seat at the elections scheduled for March 2nd, 2019.

Investigations in Ekiti State revealed that Otunba Akinyele is a flamboyant politician who presents himself as a philanthropist to people in his Efon Alaaye hometown. Over the last two years, he has brazenly been flaunting his ill-gotten wealth, acquiring several chieftaincy titles, buying numerous vehicles for people and giving large sums of money to persuade them to vote him into office in the Ekiti State House of Assembly. Although he has no credentials or work experience to recommend him for the office, Akinyele proudly asserts that with the huge treasure chest he has at his disposal, nothing will stop him from winning the election.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that the London Metropolitan Police has sought the assistance of Interpol to have him arrested and extradited to London where he will be charged to court on several counts of investment fraud, money laundering and misdemeanor bail jumping

CJN: Withdraw Osinbajo's Pastoral Position Or Else... - Timi Frank To Adeboye
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

@POLITICSNGR

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Comrade Timi Frank, has asked the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Adejare Adeboye, to sanction the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, for his silence in the face of injustice in the current administration.

In a statement sent to PoliticsNGR on Monday, Frank said without judging Osinbajo, who is an ordained pastor in the RCCG, the interest of Christian community in the country is threatened, adding that because of political power, Pastor Osinbajo has "suddenly become Galatian for crumbs" therefore keeping quiet amidst injustices in the country.

Reacting to the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Walter Onnoghen by President Muhammadu Buhari, Frank queried Prof. Osinbajo, who is also a legal luminary to tell the world his position and the role he played in what he described as "illegality."

He said Osinbajo's laud silence is embarrassing to the Christian community who expected him not only to protect their interests but to ensure justices, speaks the truth and ensure that he is an ambassador of Christ in government.

According to him, nobody is asking Osinbajo to defend Christian who have committed an offence but to distinguish himself and always speak the truth to the authority even though he is part of it.

"Pastor Adeboye should know that Osinbajo is misrepresenting the RCCG in government as one of the ordained pastors in the ministry, so he needs to be called to order.

"The word of God says that people rejoice when righteous is in power' but can the same be said of Osinbajo and Buhari today?

"Pastor Osinbajo should respect his faith and not the power that be. Like biblical prophets; Isaiah, Ezekiah and others, Osinbajo should speak the truth and shame the devil because his fear of losing political power seems to have beclouded the Redeemed pastor.

"Disgracefully, at a time the whole world is waiting to hear Osinbajo's opinion on the suspension of CJN, even as a lawyer he has suddenly gone quiet but if it is time to illegally buy votes through sharing of tradermoney in the market, the Redeem pastor will be in the forefront," Frank stated

A woman who owns a prayer house and her co-worker were busted by some villagers after coming for a deliverance session with fetish items in Anambra.

It was gathered that the female native doctor came for special prayers at Isuofia town in Aguata Local Government Area of the state, with fetish items.

The villagers apprehended the woman and asked her what she came to do as she claimed she came for prayers at a family house in the area.

When her bag was searched, cowries, red candle, and other fetish items were found in her possession as the villagers questioned her on the kind of prayers she came to perform.

After much interrogation by the villagers, the woman admitted that she's a native doctor and also has a license for her practice.

The villagers warned her and the aide not to enter the village again under the guise of conducting spiritual deliverance.

Rapper The Game raps about rough sex with Kim Kardashian, says 'I made her swallow my kids until she choked'
Fans of The Game have been long expecting new music from him, and the rapper is about to drop a bombshell track which includes very graphic lyrics about his alleged sexual past with his ex-Kim Kardashian, who is now married to Kanye West.

In the unreleased track, which he plays in a video shared by The Shade Room, The Game raps “I held Kim Kardashian by her throat, n—ga,” he raps  “I made her swallow my kids until she choke, n—ga / I should apologize ’cause ‘Ye is my folks, n—ga.’”

This isn’t the first time The Game bragged about having sex with the reality star. In 2016, he released a song titled Sauce where he claimed to have slept with three Kardashians.

During a September 2016 appearance on The Wendy Williams Show he was asked to name the three Kardashians” he slept with and after trying to ignore the question, he said: “You know what, this is what I’ll say. I’ll tell you this. Kanye is a really good friend of mine. And they got really, really beautiful kids, and I don’t want to disrespect their family.”

Quote:Adelani Adepegba, Abuja

Armed robbers have attacked and stabbed to death a journalist with the Radio Nigeria, Abuja, Mr Chris Edoga.

The deceased was at his home in the Gwagwalada area of the Federal Capital Territory when the yet-to-be-identified hoodlums raided his apartment and stabbed him last Tuesday.

He was rushed to the hospital by good Samaritans but he died the next day.

A colleague of the deceased, Kayode Irebi, said Edoga was sleeping when he was awoken by strange noise in his apartment.

On close examination of where the noise was coming from, the deceased saw the unwanted guests carting away his television set as well as other personal effects.

Irebi said, “Edoga was sleeping and woke up to find unknown people ransacking his property; on seeing that he had woken up, the hoodlums attacked and stabbed him with a knife in the head and the stomach.

“He suffered a ruptured intestine and was subsequently rushed to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital on Tuesday, but he was not operated on until 24 hours later. He died during the surgical procedure.”

Our correspondent learnt that hoodlums had been terrorising residents of Gwagwalada area in the last two months.

The hoodlums are said to often operate in groups and armed with automatic weapons and machetes.

A victim, who gave her name simply as Kehinde, said the criminals robbed the residents of a street along the old Kutunku area last week, carting away property and money.

Narrating her experience to Northern City News on Sunday, Kehinde, who is a radio presenter, said the gang scaled the fence into her residence, cut the iron doors and raided the four apartments within the compound.

“They cut the iron burglary door and stole the 42-inch television set in my living room, the 35-inch television set in the bedroom, my laptop, phones and N15,000. They also attacked the other three apartments, taking away home appliances and other personal effects. I was so scared,” she stated.

Another victim of a similar attack, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the police did not show up throughout the four-hour ordeal, adding that despite lodging a report about the incident in the morning, no police operative visited the scene of the attack.

Reacting to the development, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Anjuguri Manzah, said the command had strengthened its presence in Gwagwalada, adding that investigation had commenced into the robbery attacks in the area.
