2019 presidency: I didn’t ask Nigerians to kill any foreigner they see – Gov. El-Rufai
Saturday, February 09, 2019  politics

The Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has said he never told Nigerians to kill foreigners during elections.

This was in an attempt to clarify a recent statement where he was said to have threatened foreign observers ahead of 2019 presidential election.

Akelicious reported that Governor El-Rufai, in an interview on NTA during the week, had threatened that those who intervene in the forthcoming general elections will “go back in body bags.”

But speaking on Oath TV on Friday evening, the Governor said he had not asked any Nigerian to kill any foreigner they see during elections.

According to him, “The government of Nigeria must invite observers. But if we notice, there is a coordinated plan to delegitmize the election; to already declare the election illegitimate even before they were conducted.

“And it has the support of Nigerian collaborators and foreign interest. And we must speak out.

“We must speak out. And that is what is appearing to be the way the PDP is hobnopping with some of the foreign interests here, we have to make the observation.

“They are here to observe. They are not here to intervene. They are not here to lay the foundations for crisis in Nigeria. Which is what the PDP are preparing for as their last ultimate option and we are aware of it.

“This is the essence of my statement and I don’t want anyone to confuse what i said to mean that Nigerians will kill any foreigner they see.”

2019 Elections: Police to withdraw over 20,000 security aides of VIPs

The Nigeria Police Force has announced plans to withdraw officers attached to ‘Very Important Persons’ in preparation for the forthcoming elections.

ACP Frank Mba, Force Public Relations Officer in an interview with Punch newspaper said politicians would be affected by the recall because the force needs every officer to maintain peace and security at the coming elections.

Quote:Mba said: “the withdrawal of policemen is going to cut across all borders, including politicians, party chairmen, state commissioners and businessmen. It will affect everyone that has policemen attached to them.
"There are two basic rationales for the withdrawal of policemen; One, we need all hands on deck for the purpose of securing the electoral process. Number two, we also need to be proactive in ensuring that unscrupulous people do not hide under the cover of security or policemen providing security to create problems during the elections. These are some of the reasons we need to mop up as many policemen as possible.”
Mohammed Adamu, Acting Inspector-General of Police, had on Wednesday stated that the force would provide security for observers, escort sensitive materials, as well as to protect critical national assets during the elections.

“In order to ensure full mobilisation and deployment of personnel for these duties, we shall in the coming days prune down or order the withdrawal of SPU and CTU operatives that are currently on non-essential duties including those attached to certain categories of personalities" he said.

'The Broom That Brings Doom' — Nigerians React To Giant Broom Project In Abuja
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 02-09-2019, 11:48 AM - No Replies

Nigerians have taken to social media to express disappointment over the construction of a giant broom in front of the Abuja City Gate.

Residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) noted that as of Thursday, it wasn’t clear what was being constructed when they began, but afterwards, it turned out to be the broom symbol of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

A Twitter user, @adex0057, uploaded a photograph of the broom taken as on Thursday, and he tagged the Guinness World Records (GWR) in his caption.

The caption read: “WORLD LARGEST BROOM Attention: @GWR This is the Largest Broom anybody or group has ever [erected] anywhere in the world. This is work of some group of volunteers of @OfficialAPCNg . It deserves your recognition and honour. Location: Abuja; Date: 02/07/2019.”

The tweet by @adex0057 was retweeted by Rauf Aregbesola, immediate past Governor of Osun State.
However, the presence of the APC broom has been greeted by anger and in some cases, disappointment.
@dondekojo wrote: “These ones are installing a giant broom in front of a national monument? How insane is this?" while @Shawnife wrote: “These people don’t even rate us again. A huge broom has now been mounted in front of the City Gate.”

While @Biisi96 wrote: “What’s the meaning of this useless broom they are erecting at city gate? So this is the madness they were up to. I was confused as to what it was yesterday evening. But alas it was buffoonery in the making. I’m tired abeg,” while @TheIgboWolf wrote: “The broom doesn't represent anything to Nigerian or Nigeria. It's a symbol of a party, just one political party. But it has been mounted at the front of FCT. Again, this country is not for all of us.”

@Waynetipsy_ng tweeted: “#2019elections APC Mounts Gigantic Metal Broom At City Gate, Abuja. The broom allegedly cost a whooping N250million.”

A tweet by @dulzura_2badtz read: “Just a random question from a curious observer... so is this broom a national monument or it’s just for the election purpose and how much was budgeted for this?”

@ify_zoe wrote: “World Largest Broom. You are even tagging Guinness Book of Records without shame. If Buharism isn't a mental case I wonder what it is,” while a tweet by @NotACoquette read: “The broom that brings doom.”

@Mohd_abdul_’s tweet read: “Going to the FRANCE capital you would see... The ‘EIFFEL TOWER’ but coming to Abuja, the Nigeria capital you would end up seeing the ‘BIG BROOM’”, while @afrispheric wrote: “Imagine driving into the capital city of a country in the 21st century and one of the first things you see is a BROOM. Not a rocket. Not a super computer. Not a freedom fighter. But a dirty looking broom.”

Last week, it was reported that some herbalists raised an alarm after a strange shrine was discovered in the bush on the boundaries of Iworo and Are-Ekiti, in Ekiti state.

Fresh report has it that a man who identified himself as Ifagbolabo Adeyanju has claimed ownership of the strange shrine.

In an interview with Babatunde Bamigboye (Omo Edema) on the purpose of the scary shrine and why he sited it in the bush; Adeyanju from Ado-Ekiti, who claimed he was an herbalist, said that was the better place for him to attend to his costumers.

According to Mr. Kunle, “An herbalist friend from Are-Ekiti came to inform us that he missed his way recently in the bush between Iworoko and Are-Ekiti only to burst out at a strange shrine where he met nobody.

“Two weeks later, a few of us (herbalists) visited the place to confirm his report. What we saw there were very strange to us. All efforts we made to locate the owner or users proved abortive”

Adeyanju said he chose the bush for convenience of his herbal activities. “There are incenses I cannot burn in the town because of their sacredness and other demands.”

He said the bush is called Ijafin and owned by two chiefs from their Family; Chief Elekeran and Chief Onijafin both he said were his uncles. He also claimed that the place had been villages in the past but all later collapsed.

EFCC Seizes Passport Of Joe Agi For Paying $30,000 Into Onnoghen's Account
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 02-09-2019, 11:44 AM - No Replies

Quote:by Yusuf ALLI,

THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday seized the international passport of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria(SAN), Mr. Joe Agi, who is being investigated for allegedly paying $30,000 into a domiciliary account of the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen. The passport seizure is aimed at ensuring that he does not leave the country until the conclusion of his case.

Although Agi was granted bail yesterday by the EFCC, he has another date with the agency on Monday for further interrogation, The Nation gathered. Yesterday, detectives continued their scrutiny of the lawyer’s bank accounts and some documents retrieved from his residence when a search warrant was executed.

The EFCC is also on the trail of a vital suspect said to have questions to answer in respect of the payments into Onnoghen’s accounts. The suspect’s name is being kept secret for security reasons. A reliable source who confirmed Agi’s passport seizure said: “one of the conditions for admitting Agi to bail was the depositing of his international passport in order to restrict him from leaving the country.

“We have directed him to report to the EFCC intermittently, as may be scheduled, from Monday for more interrogation.

“Although Agi has made a useful statement, our detectives are currently screening his accounts following fresh clues with regards to his relationship with the CJN. “We have demanded for comprehensive details of Agi’s accounts and transactions which might take time to analyze or clarify with the suspect.

“The SAN has told our detectives that the CJN is his brother having come from Cross River State together.” For much of yesterday, detectives analyzed the documents retrieved from Agi’s Abuja residence. The source added: “We have isolated some issues for Agi to respond to when he comes around for another grilling. We are sieving some documents on which he ought to shed more light.”

Sources also said the EFCC team was on the trail of another suspect linked with the deposit. “We are hopeful that we will be able to locate and interact with this suspect in the next few days, “ the source said. Apart from the $30000 payment, detectives also said the SAN was Onnoghen’s referee when the suspended CJN was in the process of opening one of the domiciliary accounts traced to him.

Agi is the first suspect linked with some suspicious lodgments in Onnoghen’s accounts, which were effected between 2012 and 2016. The lodgments, amounting to $3million in five accounts, were undeclared in the Assets Declaration Form of Onnoghen.

The Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit(NFIU) was mandated to restrict the operation of the five accounts Standard Chartered Bank coded as USD No. 870001062650; Euro account No. 93001062686; Pound Sterling A/CNo. 285001062679; e-Saver Savings (Naira) account No. 5001062693; and a Naira A/C No. 0001062667. An intelligence report on the CJN’s accounts reads in part: “Pattern of structured payments of $10,000.00 each in 2012.

“There was also a credit of $121,116.00 into the account from 2014 to 2016 from Life Friend Plc. The payments were in four installments, of $30,279.00 each. These payments suggest the suspect has investments “A payment at $482,966.00 from Alicia Redemption Pro and shortly after, $800,000.00 was invested in SCB Investment subscription. I'm so happy and proud that ATIKU has peppered them so much that they are going gaga against him and his friends but by God's grace the man is unstoppable... Why can't BUHARI treat him with the same respect JONATHAN extended to him in 2015...

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SATURDAY, 9TH FEBRUARY 2019

HE DOESN’T LEAD US THROUGH DREAMS

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God (Romans 8:14).

In the New Testament, God doesn’t lead us through dreams. The Bible doesn’t say, “For as many as are led by dreams, they are the sons of God”; rather, it says, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God….” You might want to ask, “How about Acts 2:17; doesn’t it indicate that God still leads through dreams?” No; He doesn’t.

When the Bible says in Acts 2:17, “…in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh…AND YOUR OLD MEN SHALL DREAM DREAMS…”; dreams were for sense knowledge generation of men. And if you ever had a dream, a real dream that’s a message from the Lord, always, the focus would be on you; you’d be the theme of the dream; not someone else.

God never gave anybody any dream about anybody else. Job said, “God talks to men in a dream of the night to seal an instruction into them, to warn them from their destruction” (Read Job 33:15-18). That’s in the Old Testament. It was about them; not about other people.

Some people believed some dreams that others had about them, and started looking for “deliverance”; that’s absurd. If you’re born again, God doesn’t send you a warning through someone else’s dream. Their dream is about them and not you. Don’t fear their fears and dreams.

Since the Holy Spirit began His ministry with the church on the day of Pentecost in Acts chapter 2, none of the Apostles or anyone in the New Testament was ministered to in a dream. Today, as then, He guides you through the written Word, and through His light in your spirit; the inward witness. Howbeit, that inward voice or witness always bears record with the Word. He gives visions and diverse revelations, nonetheless, but not with other people’s dreams about you. He said “ my sheep hear my voice…” (John 10:27).

Therefore, don’t base your life on dreams; if you dream a dream that’s consistent with God’s plan for you, claim it in Jesus’ Name, otherwise throw it away and don’t dwell on it. Live on the Word and God’s provisions in Christ.

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for the gift of your Spirit who causes my life to go in the direction of your perfect will for me. I live in the Spirit; therefore, I also walk in the Spirit, yielding myself to you, to be directed and instructed in all of life’s affairs, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Job 33:15-18 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; 16 Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, 17 That he may withdraw man [from his] purpose, and hide pride from man. 18 He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.

Jeremiah 23:28 CEV Their dreams and my truth are as different as straw and wheat. But when prophets speak for me, they must say only what I have told them.

#TALKINGSESSION

9TH FEBRUARY.

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD

Dear heavenly Father, I thank for Your Word is working mightily in me. My spirit, soul, and body are completely yielded to Your Word; thus, I refuse to entertain doubts in my heart, for I know faith always works. My faith is the victory that overcomes the world; it’s also the only proof I require to know that the things I’ve hoped for are now my present-hour

possessions. Lord, I thank You for Your Word is a light unto me; it clears the darkness from my path and enriches me daily. I thank you for showing me how to live the victorious life. I live by faith and not by sensory perceptions. I dominate the circumstances of my life today and declare that all things are working together for my good, in the mighty Name of Jesus. Amen.

God bless you

Jubilation As 53 Parties Endorse Buhari Ahead Of APC Rally In Lagos
User Avatar Forum: News

Nigeria's incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari has been endorsed by a staggering 53 political parties. [Image: mbuhari00.jpg]
Ahead of the Saturday mega rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos, a coalition of 53 political parties has endorsed the candidacy of President Muhammadu Buhari, saying the decision was based on the president’s achievements in the last three years, [b]TheNation has reported.
[/b]

The coalition, under the banner of Coalition of Political Parties in Lagos State (COPPILS), declared its support for Buhari at an event held in Surulere.

The event was witnessed by the Minister for Works, Power and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, SAN, APC’s National Legal Adviser, Babatunde Ogala, the party’s governorship candidate in Lagos, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and lawmaker representing Lagos East in the Senate, Gbenga Ashafa, among others.

Director of Publicity of the coalition, Mallam Shakirudeen Olofin, said the 53 parties had directed their members to work with the APC to deliver Lagos to Buhari, noting that they took the decision to support the APC presidential candidate because of the infrastructure projects of Buhari administration in the Southwest.

According to a communiqué issued by the coalition and signed by its convener, Hon. Akinola Obadia, the APC-led Federal Government had sited more projects in Lagos to consolidate the status of the state as the fastest growing economy in Africa. The coalition said the strides must be sustained for sustainable development.

The communiqué read: “Based on the numerous achievements of the President Buhari in the last three and half years, which include reduction in $5 million importation spending, infrastructure projects on Lagos-Ibadan axis and the flag of Apapa-Oshodi-Oworonsoki-Ojota Expressway, the coalition hereby endorses the candidacy of President Buhari.”

Hailing the decision of parties to support President Buhari’s re-election bid, Fashola said Lagos residents had no choice than to return APC to power. He said the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in its 16 years dominance at the centre, left infrastructure in the state to rot, pointing out that the opposition party’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar, had no plan for the country.

Fashola described the PDP presidential candidate’s policy paper as “strategy of lies”, saying Atiku’s plan is impracticable. He said Buhari’s investment in infrastructural renewal was unprecedented, adding that the “Next Level” slogan of the APC was strategically coined in preparation for the projected job creation and economic upswing that would come as dividends of Buhari’s investment in infrastructure.

Sanwo-Olu said Buhari’s achievements in four years could not be compared to PDP’s 16 years in power, saying the APC-led Federal Government had initiated and completed 143 road projects across the nation since 2015. He said Buhari’s victory at the general election must be collective responsibility.

Fulani Youths Assure Buhari 11million Votes

The Fulani youth group said its decision to back the president for a second term was based on his antecedents and integrity. [Image: Buhari%20222.JPG]
Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC-registered Fulani Youths Association of Nigeria (Jonde Jam) has promised to deliver 11million of their votes to President Muhammadu Buhari on February 16 presidential polls.

They made the promise in Abuja when their national executive committee paid a visit to the national headquarters of the APC Women and Youth Presidential Campaign team headed by wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari. They were received by the national leaders of the campaign team led by the Chairman of the Central Working Committee of the campaign team, Gen. Buba Marwa.

While justifying their support for Buhari, national president of Jonde Jam, Alhaji Maikano Abdullahi, said their decision to back the president for a second term was based on his antecedents and integrity.

“We realise that two Fulanis are running in the presidential election but in our deliberations, we found President Buhari to be the more suitable and qualified. He is a leader with no foreign account; he has been governor and oil minister but has never stolen a kobo from the public treasury. We see him as a talakawa like us and this is why we zeroed in on him as our candidate,” he stated.

The Fulani youth group said its members assembled in Abuja from across the country and would be going back to their General Assembly where they would share kolanut as a seal on their decision to deliver 11million votes as their bloc support for Buhari.

In his response, Marwa expressed appreciation for their support and urged them to go ahead and mobilise more than the 11million votes they had promised. He said it was only when they do that that the Nigeria of their dream would be realised by the Buhari presidency.

Other leaders of the APC Women and Youth Presidential Campaign team who joined Marwa to receive the Jonde Jam leaders numbering about 100 include former Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, Major General Alkali (Retd), Hajia Binta Muazu, Ms Juliet Ibeku, Mrs Pauline Tallen, and Amb Justice Dodo among others.

APC Reacts To Supreme Court Judgement On APC Rivers Candidates

· Party’s Affirmation Of Senator Ayogu Eze As Enugu State Governorship Candidate
· Imo APC Suspension Of State Governor
· Comments By Governor Nasir Elrufai On Foreign Interference In Our Elections
· Niger East Senatorial
· Recent Police Redeployments
· Preparedness For Elections

The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu on Friday at the Party’s National Secretariat in Abuja spoke to journalists on wide-ranging issues such as the party’s reaction on Supreme Court Ruling on APC Rivers Governorship Candidate; the Party’s affirmation of Senator Ayogu Eze as Enugu State governorship candidate; Imo APC suspension of the State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha; comments by the Kaduna State Governor Nasir Elrufai on foreign interference in our elections; Niger east senatorial candidate; recent Police redeployments and the Party’s preparedness for the forthcoming elections.

Below Excerpts made available to PoliticsNGR from the Press Conference:

Supreme Court ruling on APC Rivers Candidates

Our legal department is looking into the judgement of the Supreme Court. It is not the kind of judgement we looked forward to base on the facts that we are aware of. The only option before us now is to review this judgement and see what other means that is legal. We think we deserve to field candidates in Rivers state. We know we did the right thing. We had our primaries even though there are issues around it. I don’t know why it appears the APC is the only party that is being subjected to this kind of scrutiny from the electoral body. It is the same APC that PDP has continued to raise flags as being the party that wants to rig election and is supposed to be working in cahoots with INEC. If this is the way to work in cahoots with INEC, we need to ask further questions. We know what we did in Rivers compared to what PDP did in many of the thirty-six states. PDP shouldn’t field candidates in many states if the same parameters applied by the electoral body are applied to the PDP. Our legal department will review the outcome of this as unpalatable as it is and we will be able to say categorically the next step we might be taking and come out with it in due course.

Party’s affirmation of Senator Ayogu Eze as Enugu State Governorship Candidate

In Enugu state, we are aware of the judgement that says our candidate, Senator Ayogu Eze is not the rightful candidate. We would say that we have acknowledged the judgement of the court but we do know the party followed the procedure and the processes that led to the emergence of Senator Ayogu Eze is what this party believes in. We believe that the Appeal Court will do the right thing and upturning it. Senator Ayogu Eze remains in the eyes of the party, the governorship candidate for Enugu state. The person that has been so declared by a court is unknown to this party because he did not even participate in the primaries that we organised. So there is no way he could have emerged as our candidate. Again, as I speak to you we have appealed the judgement and secured a stay of execution. So even legally as at today, Senator Ayogu Eze is the candidate of APC in Enugu state. We are very confident he is going to deliver.

Court decision on Party’s Niger east senatorial candidate

We stand by our process, our process stand up to scrutiny. Take it to anywhere; we are sure we did the right thing without prejudice to what the lower court has said that is why we have the opportunity of an appeal to the higher court.

Imo APC suspension of State Governor

We are aware of the situation in Imo and we have made our point clear. Let me reiterate that APC does not have an alliance with any party including the Action Alliance. We are not in alliance with any party whatsoever in this election. However, we welcome support for our candidates from any party but we do not have such an arrangement that accommodate the candidate of any other party besides APC candidates. In Imo and all the thirty-six states, including the FCT, we are campaigning for APC candidates and we expect APC candidates to win elections anywhere we are campaigning in a free and fair atmosphere.

We are also aware of the fact the Party’s local chapter has taken some disciplinary action as regards the Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha. In last few weeks, we have been going round the country to present our scorecard before Nigerians and to seek a renewal of this mandate to continue the good work that President Muhammadu Buhari has embarked on. The National Working Committee has not been able to seat on that and many other issues pending. In due course the NWC will meet and that may be one of the issues that will be considered. As at today, the real issue in Imo is to emphasise the fact that APC is supporting all APC candidates in Imo and we do not recognise candidates that are not from the APC. We encourage the people of Imo to vote massively for APC candidates. The governorship candidate in Imo remains Senator Hope Uzodinma.

Comments by Governor Nasir Elrufai on foreign interference in our elections

We stand fully by the statement as regards any country that think we are a colony; that we have a right to defend every inch of this country; and we are not a banana republic. So what Governor Elrufai said clearly is the position of this government that we are proud as Nigerians and we are ready to defend the integrity of this country and that any country that thinks in the name of election will want to interfere and dictate to us or intimidate us in any way, it is unacceptable. That is exactly what Governor Elrufai has said. The PDP can twist it the way they want. Governor Elrufai never said people should not come and observe or monitor elections. And he was not referring to people who are genuinely coming to monitor and observe the elections. Nigerians also go to other countries as monitors and observers. So that is acceptable to us, we welcome peer review. What we don’t welcome and what is unacceptable to us is any country thinking we are a colony, we are not. We are a sovereign nation.

APC Preparedness for elections

The APC has been working on a daily basis through our activities in terms of implementation of policy and programmes that touch on the common people. These are what we are now showcasing to the public as a means of telling them that the change we promised is actually taking place; seeking a renewal of the mandate they gave us almost four years ago

As we all can see, PDP missed the bus. They got to the bus station and instead of boarding the bus, PDP is busy picking on issues that do not concern them. All the time they ought to be campaigning, they wake up on daily basis based on their infamous Dubai strategy meeting that failed before they landed in the country

PDP showed abinitio that they were not coming into the elections to win it through the ballots. They put in place all sort of methods and illegal means they had wanted to deploy one after the other to get back to power through the backdoor. The PDP was busy creating false and fake news, spreading all sort of fallacies and that has now come to be their undoing.

It is clear that the elections in February 16, the election on March 2 are elections that the APC has demonstrated clearly that we are ready to win. The PDP has not offered any alternative to whatever APC is doing. When you look at the presidential candidate of the PDP, Alh. Atiku Abubakar, he said on national television that one of his priorities is to make his friends rich but we are busy improving the lives of the common people. Nigerian will remember that. Atiku has said he is coming to sell national assets to his foreign and local friends. The question we are going to ask during the election with our PVCs is what happened to all the national assets during the 16years of the PDP and especially when Atiku was vice president and chairman of the privatisation council. National assets were sold for a pittance and they have all gone down. The only things that remain today are those that are personal to him. The gains he made from his position as vice president. This is the person that is contesting against our candidate. A person we just discovered paid heavily to get a 24-hours entrance into the US. That is the kind of person we want to have as president. Nigerians won’t do that.

Recent Police redeployment

Few weeks ago, it was the same PDP that was crying that the police have been compromised and that the former Inspector General of Police was poised to deliver the election to APC. Now the president has taken the position by appointing a new IGP. Now I don’t know where the noise is coming from.

There is no need to deceive ourselves. The whole noise about the posting of commissioners of police is about Kwara state, Dr. Bukola Saraki who is scared stiff remembering all he had done in the past when he had the control. What he normally used the police for, the way he used to manipulate INEC and he is thinking that the same thing may happen to him. How could you suggest to the police not to carry out its routine exercise. If the police think it is part of its preparation to ensure a free and fair election, provide security before and after the election is to move its personnel around, how does that bother anybody? It is because Bukola Saraki has realised without having control over INEC and the police, there is no way he can win his seat to comeback as a senator. He cannot even deliver his polling unit, without being aided by the police and INEC and that is what he has been doing before but is no longer available for him. But let me assure him and his co travellers, the APC doesn’t need those illegal things to win elections. Infact, we need them to do their jobs, we need them to provide a level playing field to all political parties. That is all we want from the police, that is all we want from INEC. We don’t need the template Bukola Saraki and the PDP have been using and we are not going to use it.

PVC Collection: Saraki Reacts As INEC Extends Deadline, States Why
User Avatar Forum: News

Quote:The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection.

The electoral body made this known in a statement signed by its chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, on Friday. The statement was reproduced on its verified twitter handle.

INEC said the decision was taken in order not to disenfranchise Nigerians from exercising their constitutional right of electing their preferred leaders.

“The Collection of PVCs scheduled to end today Friday 8th February 2019 is hereby extended Nationwide to Monday 11th February 2019. This will include Saturday and Sunday,” the statement said.

“The collection of PVCs will now take place from 9am to 6pm daily. All State offices are hereby directed to review the procedure for the collection of PVCs and dedicate all the staff of the Local Government offices to the collection process.

“Staff are enjoined to be civil in attending to citizens and to escalate issues that they cannot immediately resolve to their superiors.

“The Commission wishes to reassure Nigerians that we will continue to take every necessary step to ensure that no registered voter is disenfranchised on account of non-collection of PVCs.

“Similarly, the Commission is taking urgent steps to address complaints of unavailability of the PVCs of some registered voters before the end the deadline for the collection.

“We wish to reiterate that after the deadline of Monday 11th February 2019, all uncollected PVCs will be recalled and deposited with the CBN for safe-keeping until after the General Elections when the collection of cards and the continuous registration of voters will resume,” it added.

Meanwhile, Bukola Saraki, Senate President has decribed the development as a great one urging Nigerians to go out and collect their PVC

“INEC has just announced that it will be extending the collection of #PVCs to Monday, February 11th. This is a great development. Now, more young Nigerians will be able to participate in the 2019 General Elections,” the top lawmaker tweeted on Friday.

1,000 Pastors Storm Abuja To Endorse "God's Anointed' Buhari - Sahara Reporters.
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 02-08-2019, 09:44 PM - No Replies

1000 clerics of the Christian faith stormed Abuja on Thursday for the grand finale of a rally to endorse President Muhammadu Buhari.

The clerics claim Buhari “is anointed to lead the country for eight years, and as such, should be given the necessary support for him to fulfil the prophecy”.

They gathered at the Unity Fountain, Abuja, under the auspices of the National Inter-Faith and Religious Organizations for Peace (NIFROP).

They urged Nigerians not to disrupt the flow of God’s blessing to the land, but support Buhari’s reelection bid, so he could “continue running the errand God has sent him”.

Speaking at the rally, Bishop Sunday Garuba, National President of NIFROP, said: “Before NIFROP announced today’s rally sometime last week, we had been led by the spirit to hold forty days of fasting and prayer. In the course of this exercise, undertaken on behalf of the nation, it was revealed to us that President Buhari is God’s anointed to lead Nigeria to greater heights.

“As you can see, we are more than 1,000 clerics across faiths and denominations. We are apolitical and only delivered this message concerning President Buhari for it what our maker has collectively instructed us to do and we cannot do otherwise, lest we attract wrath unto ourselves.

“The unison of 1,000 clerics of diverse faiths is something that should prick the interest of Nigerians. But it is not a phenomenon for which we should waste time seeking answers. The leadership style of President Buhari as defender of all faiths, ordained to save our religions, is the source of the newfound cohesion that has toned down the tendency for religion to be the source of strife among communities. The naysayers may argue it but Nigeria is on the way to recording fewer and fewer instances of sectarian strife until the larger population of Nigeria will enjoy the kind of cordial relations we have at NIFROP.

“Fortunately, this godly touch is manifesting in other facets of our national life. The corruption that used to be the trademark of Nigeria is now being recognized as an abomination to our creator, something that has been made possible by President Buhari. We are aware that there are those now seeking to return Nigeria to Egypt, back to the days when corruption and theft of public funds was the order of the day.

“We stand on the revelation given to us by God to declare that as He decreed, so shall it be. We on this note appeal to the electorate to ward off evil from Nigeria by aligning with God’s will by voting President Buhari to continue with the work that has been entrusted to him.

“We are aware that the opposition has been making false claims to present themselves as the ones destined to take Nigeria to a greater height and that they can liberate Nigerians but we know this for what it is. Lies of the devil! They are known to the Bible as it is stated in 2 Peter 2:19 that ‘They promise (Nigerians) them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved’. Nigerians must therefore take heed lest they fall the lying tongue that is intent on misleading them to reject God’s choice for them.”

Kannywood actor and musician Adam Zango has officially defected from All Progressives Congress (APC) to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Daily Trust reports.

The actor also said that he has endorsed Atiku Abubakar of the PDP as his presidential candidate.

The actor made the announcement on his Instagram page on Thursday.

Daily Trust confirmed that the actor had a crucial meeting with the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and some officials of the party yesterday (Wednesday) in Abuja before making his announcement today.

He posted: “I was appointed with the title of PDP Brand Ambassador. I endorsed Atiku Abubakar as my presidential candidate. Let’s get Nigeria working again.”

Zango also added that the decision was his choice and that of his partners including actors like Fati Washa, Zainab Abdullahi Indomie, Maryam Gidado and Isah Ferozkhan among others.

Zango who was a die-hard supporter and campaigner of President Muhammadu Buhari has been in recent days complaining about how the ruling All Progressives Party (APC) was treating Kannywood filmmakers.

Yesterday, the actor also known as ‘Prince Zango’ reposted a post promoting PDP and Atiku on Instagram posted by Kannywood actor and Atiku’s campaigner, Zaharaddeen Sani.

A source also close to the actor told Daily Trust that between today and tomorrow, Zango would hold a press conference to explain the reasons behind his defection from APC to PDP and why he endorsed Atiku as presidential candidate, among others.

Arewa Youths: Atiku Will Win The Presidential Election 2019

Posted by: Edoman - 02-08-2019, 09:22 PM - No Replies

The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, AYCF, has predicted the outcome of the 2019 presidential election.

Speaking with DAILY POST on Friday, President of the AYCF, Alhaji Yerima Shettima, said Nigerians were tired of the present political settings and have shown willingness to change leadership.

According to him, even though the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, does not have money to buy crowd at campaign venues, Nigerians have shown that they wanted a better life than what is obtainable at the moment.

Asked to predict the outcome of the February 16 presidential poll, Shettima, said, “Atiku is winning. We are sure because we have worked enough and people are now wiser. In a free and fair election, the present leader will not be a match for Atiku.”

On whether the crowd attending Buhari’s rallies is intimidating to him, the youth leader added, “Did you see the crowd in Katsina yesterday? Were those people paid to come out? Does Atiku have money to give to governors to pay those crowd? Now you compare to somebody who has so much money to share around to governors, can you compare?

“And at what point did we descend so low that elections are being determined by crowd? At what point did we descend that low. Okay, let’s go to the polls by February then let’s see.”

LAWMA threatens to shut down Ladipo Market in Mushin

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) said on Friday that it might close Ladipo Market in Mushin, till further notice, if the waste situation continued unabated.

LAWMA’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Obinna Onyenali, said that the attention of the authority had been drawn to the unwholesome environmental practices being carried out by traders at the Ladipo Market.

Onyenali said that such practices had resulted to indiscriminate dumping of waste and degradation of the environment. He said that the authority had, in recent times, doubled its efforts to ensure that business transactions in all Lagos markets were conducted in a clean and safe environment.

According to him, the authority has doubled its efforts through timely deployment of trucks for waste evacuation and sweeping of the markets.

Quote:“However, these efforts are being tainted by the activities of mischievous persons who would rather dump their waste indiscriminately on the roads than patronise their assigned Private Sector Participation (PSP) operators.
“LAWMA condemns in strongest terms this unwholesome act, being perpetuated  by the traders of Ladipo Market, as it exposes the environment and the people that do business there to various health dangers.
“The authority seizes this opportunity to urge the merchants at the market to turn a new leaf or face the consequences of the Law.  “If these heinous acts against the environment continue unabated, the market will be shut till further notice,” he said in a statement.
Onyenali said that LAWMA wanted all markets to comply with the Environmental Laws of the state, which was essential for building a cleaner and healthier environment that everyone would be proud of.  “The Authority appeals to all residents in the state to always imbibe the habit of effective waste management by bagging their waste for easy evacuation by their assigned PSPs,” he said.

Only God will punish PDP for looting Nigeria - President Buhari

President Buhari has said that only God will punish the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for looting the country during their 16-years in office.
President Buhari said this when he met with his local and international support groups at the state house in Abuja today February 8th.

Quote:“With the large scale abuse of trust, only God can give them punishment. But those we can touch, we will get them prosecuted. Properties confiscated should be sold and the money put into treasury,” he said while addressing the leaders of the support groups.
“I have said this for the umpteenth time and I have challenged them to prove me wrong. In those 16 years of PDP rule, Nigeria was getting 2.1 million times 100 (2.1 million barrels by $100 per barrel) everyday, but when we came on board, the price fell to between $37-38 and hung around $40-$50.  I went to the Central Bank of Nigeria and asked him for money and he said there was no money'' he said

Quote:WHAT A LIFE, WHERE THE GOOD TREES DOES NOT STAY LONG IN THE FOREST?

It is HARD to accept the death of a loved one; especially when you didn't have the chance to say goodbye; especially when the deceased was taken so suddenly and so shockingly at the prime of life and most especially when it seems like an irreplaceable part of your world is gone. The grief and the pain can be unbearable; you cry a river and your sorrow knows no end. You never really know what it's like until you are there yourself, but you look to God because he's the only one who can comfort you.

Death and indeed a death so sudden and painful like the death of my dear friend yester-night makes me realize the brevity of life. We often take life for granted; too much so. Her death has made me sit down and reflect. . It's made me put things in perspective. I want to live life and love it, I don't want to spend my life being unhappy or dissatisfied, I want to put a smile on my face because that's what can make a dark day seem bright and I want to play the game of life to the very end.
Ikimot is gone ; None of us can bring her back, no matter how we cry, she is gone.

I met her during my senior secondary school days and we became friends.... I miss disturbing you, you proved to be a good buddy all through... After school we moved on with our various life but you still stood as a friend Ikimot but Today I got the news that you left this sinful world...

I got the news online about the arrival of the new soul (04/02/2019) but I wanted to wish you by calling or a surprise visit, the second day(05/02/2019) was your birthday, I was busy that I could not wish you. I planned to get your number from a friend today to wish you but I got the shocking news i never expected that you have left the world yesterday(06/02/2019)... How can that happen ?

Where is my Portable friend, that friend that whats she loves doing most is to smile. She is calm, loving, patient and friendly..  We all find it hard to believe but the truth is that Quadri Ikimot Damilola has gone to rest. All we can do is to pray for her….

So for those of you who can identify with me in grief, make it your aim to try and look past it and move on but the memory will exist forever

Death is a graduation. When we're taught all the things we came to teach, learned all the things we came to learn, then we're allowed to graduate. What a painful exit
Oremi please rest in peace but make sure you protect your kid that you left for us.(AMEN)
MY CONDOLENCE TO THE QUADRi'S & SANNI'S

REST IN PEACE QUADRI IKIMOT DAMILOLA...

Two pupils were left to fight in front of their classmates and teacher who purportedly filmed the shocking incident which happened recently in Ghana.

It is believed that the very person who filmed the incident was the Class Teacher, since pupils are not allowed to use phones in school.
It is claimed that the unnamed teacher left the pupils to fight since the Ghana Education Service (GES) banned caning in schools.

The GES in a statement signed by the Deputy Director General, Anthony Boateng, ordered all schools to immediately adopt a new disciplinary toolkit together with alternative sanctions as measures for correcting pupils and students in schools.

The tool indicated that “apart from the physical pain corporal punishment inflicts on children, this approach also causes significant emotional damage.

Some of the lasting effects of this method of disciplining school children include physical scars, emotional scars (trauma, fear, timidity etc.) and violent behaviour.”

ACPN to Ezekwesili, ''Return our money or we will take you to court''

The Allied Congress Party of Nigeria has asked its former presidential candidate, Oby Ezekwesili, to return all the money generated during her short stay in the party or be dragged to court. Ezekwesili withrew from the presidential race on January 24th and according to the party, she hasn't refunded the money generated for her campaign.
The National Chairman of the party, Ganiyu Galadima, made this known at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday February 7th. The party chairman said that from all indications, Ezekwesili did not have capacity to contest a presidential election.

Quote:“We want to know all the contents of the accounts and see the accounts because at the end of the day, it is not the presidential candidate that the Independent National Electoral Commission will hold responsible, but the party, and whatever any candidate generated for his or her campaign belongs to the party. We are expecting that she will respond at the appropriate time but if she doesn’t, we may be compelled to go to court.” he said
Speaking further, Galadinma said
Quote:“For somebody who wants to contest for the presidency, all you could generate for period of three months was just N43m and she spent everything. She did not disclose the sources of the fund and how much she generated.
Look at Omoyele Sowore, he publicly disclosed on a national TV recently that his campaign and the party had been able to generate N99m. In addition, he also told the world how the money could be traced. So why is there no transparency in Madam Ezekwesili’s project? That is the bone of contention. We are expecting that she will respond at the appropriate time but if she doesn’t, we may be compelled to go to court to seek for order of Mandamus''.

NEMA pilot arraigned for diverting over N91 million, money meant for taking care of the fleets, including Airbus and Air ambulance

EFCC has arraigned one Mamman Ali Ibrahim before Justice A. I. Kutigi of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT High Court, sitting in Gwagwalada, on a two-count charge, bordering on criminal breach of trust.

Ibrahim, who served as a pilot in charge of Air Ambulance Aviation Unit and Helicopter Emergencies Service with the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, is alleged to have diverted over N91 million, money meant for taking care of the fleets, including Airbus, Air ambulance and the Helicopter.

His journey to the dock on February 7, 2019, followed a petition to the office of the Vice President, which was forwarded to the office of the acting EFCC Chairman, for investigation.

Investigations revealed that Ibrahim commercialised both the ambulance and the helicopter. He, however, claimed that the directive to commercialise them came from the office of a former vice president and a former Accountant General of the Federation, AGF.
Further investigations also revealed that the total sum of N285 million was realized from the commercialisation of the aircraft, while N63 million was paid to the AGF.

It was also gathered that N11 million was paid to NEMA, while the balance was yet to be accounted for.  According to the petition, over N4million was paid into the account of Aerocare West Africa Limited, a company belonging to the defendant, which he transferred to his family members.

Quote:One of the counts reads in part: “That you, Mamman Ali Ibrahim, whilst being employed in the public service and serving as a pilot in charge of Air Ambulance Aviation Unit and Helicopter Emergencies Services with the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, between 2014 and 2015, at Abuja within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, while being entrusted with dominion over money, to wit, the sum of N64,550,810 (Sixty Four Million, Five Hundred and Fifty Thousand, Eight Hundred and Ten Naira) only, being part of the proceeds realized from the commercialization of the aircraft belonging to NEMA”.
He pleaded “not guilty” to the charges. In view of his plea, prosecuting counsel, Deborah Ademu-Eteh, asked the court for a trial date. Defence counsel, Aduojo Abah, however, moved the motion for the bail of his client.

Ademu-Eteh opposed the application, urging the court to “consider the severity of the punishment and the character of the evidence before the court”. After listening to all the arguments, Justice Kutigi granted him bail in the sum of N50 million with one surety in like sum.
The surety being a public servant not lower than level 14, must be a resident within the jurisdiction. The case has been adjourned to April 10, 2019, for trial.

Morning Devotional For Friday 8th February
User Avatar Forum: Daily Devotions
Posted by: Edoman - 02-08-2019, 10:30 AM - Replies (4)

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

FRIDAY, 8TH FEBRUARY.

THE BLOTTING OUT OF OUR TRANSGRESSIONS.

In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace (Ephesians 1:7).

In many places where the word “forgiveness” is used, it should actually be translated “remission.” Remission means liberty, release, separation; it means letting the offence or offences go as though they never existed. Your error is treated as though it never happened; totally separated from you, and separated from your history. Can you imagine that?

Someone might wonder, “How can that be?” But that’s what we read in our opening verse; God did it according to the riches of His grace. That means God has the capacity to completely separate a man from his sins as though he never committed any sin, by virtue of the blood of Jesus Christ! That’s not forgiveness. Forgiveness is to pardon. In forgiveness, you’re released from punishment, even though the record remains that you were an offender.

Growing up as a young Christian, we were taught certain things that weren’t quite accurate. One of such teachings was that the sinner gets remission, while the Christian gets forgiveness. That is, when you’re born again, your sins are remitted, but afterwards, if you do anything wrong, you receive forgiveness.

But think about it: if the sinner gets remission and his sins are completely wiped out, never to be remembered, why is the Christian having his own sins on record? The Christian shouldn’t be getting something lesser than what the sinner got. What we have in Christ is remission of sins.

What then happens when you do something wrong? You’re automatically cleansed by the Blood of Jesus: “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin” (1 John 1:7). Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Thank you blessed Father, for your loving-kindness. You provided for the remission of sins for your children. I pray, therefore, that Christians all around the world would come to this knowledge and refuse to be held bound by the accusations of the enemy, as they walk in your grace and in your righteousness, in Jesus’ Name. Romans 4:6-8 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, 7 [Saying], Blessed [are] they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. 8 Blessed [is] the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

Hebrews 8:10-12 For this [is] the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: 11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

Hebrews 10:16-18 This [is] the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; 17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. 18 Now where remission of these [is, there is] no more offering for sin.

The Ogun state police command is currently investigating the alleged murder of a real estate developer, Bababunmi Akinyemi, in the Mowe area of the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State of February 1st.

According to the police, Akinyemi was allegedly lured to his site at Peace Estate, opposite the Redemption Camp off the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, where he was killed and his body dumped in the bush by his killers.

Wife of the deceased, Omotoke Akinyemi, told Punch that her husband was called upon by a resident of the estate who said he was interested in a property Akinyemi was selling.

Quote:“We left home together on Friday, February 1, 2019, for his office at Omole area of Lagos State, but he left me there saying that he wanted to get to Ikeja; and from Ikeja, he went home. He called me that he wanted to go to Ikoyi for a meeting, but that our neighbour at Mowe called him that he got an interested buyer for our property at Mowe and that he wanted to go there.
“I asked him if he was going to drive; he said he won’t because of the traffic and that was the last conversation we had. I was expecting him to come back, but when we didn’t see him that day, we went to the site in Mowe very early on Saturday morning. We asked the people around but they said they did not see him. We didn’t meet the neighbour who called him, but we met his wife, who told us that her husband had travelled. We asked one of the ‘Omo oniles’, who was always at the gate of the estate, and he said he didn’t see my husband.
“We thought it was a case of a missing person and we reported at the Warewa Police Station, and on Tuesday, his corpse was found in the last room of the building covered with bush.” she said
Confirming the incident, the Ogun state police command spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the two suspects have been arrested and transferred to the state Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, Eleweran, Abeokuta.
Quote:“The family reported a case of a missing person at the Warewa Police Station; the corpse was later discovered on his site where it was dumped. Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the case and we are still investigating it. The Commissioner of Police has directed that the case be transferred to the state Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, and the homicide section has taken over the case. An object was used to hit him on the head, but we have not established what the object is.” he said

Northern Youths Disown El-Rufai Over Threat To Kill Foreign Observers During Election
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 02-08-2019, 08:53 AM - No Replies

A group, under the auspices of Joint Action Committee of Northern Youth Associations, JACON, have condemned in strong terms the recent threat to international community, election observers by Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

JACON group said the governor to throw the state and country into another round of bloodletting.

The Kaduna State Governor had on Tuesday warned that those who intervene in the forthcoming general elections will “go back in body bags”.

Reacting, the association called on Nigerians to remain steadfast and not be perturbed by the comment made by El Rufai.

Murtala Abubakar, convener of JACON, in a statement said, “The recent outburst and threat to the international community, especially election observers by Kaduna State Governor, Nasiru Ahmad el-Rufai is not surprising. What is surprising is extending it outside the shore of Kaduna and Nigeria, targeting the international community who are interested in fair, transparent, credible and peaceful elections in Nigeria.

“In the face of this, we call on all to remain steadfast, not to bow to intimidation, not to play into the hands of people like el-Rufai whose plan is to throw the state and the nation into another round of bloodletting. We shall triumph over those who don’t want to see us in peace.

“This is not new. But as northern youths, we have resolved not to be drawn into any act that will lead to lost of lives and property in Kaduna State, the region or the nation as a whole.

“For the record, Governor el-Rufai is no stranger to such inflammatory statement meant to stock ember of discord and results in violence. But we have seen through his veiled calls to violence.

“El-Rufai is known to have called the opposition in Kaduna termites and ants and should be crushed. He has asked those who asked questions on his style of scothearth leadership to climb Kufena Hill and jump to their death.

“The most recent and bizarre was his allusion to a religious icon; the celebrated and revered Catholic leader, The Pope. That statement was meant to infuriate the Catholics and Christians to cause religious conflict. But we thank the Christian community for their restrain and the show of maturity by not playing into the hands of the governor.”

The associations noted with dismay that just this week, three young boys were mowed down in cold blood at Unguwan Muazu within Kaduna metropolis right under the watch of Governor el-Rufai in his campaign train.

“Despite the security agents in the Governor’s motorcade, no one has been arrested nor did he visit to condole with the families of the murdered boys. It took serious intervention of peace loving people to ensure the killings of the young boys did not lead to another circle of bloodletting in Kaduna,” the associations explained.

They said, “Nigeria like the governor said in this last infamous interview on a national television has been involved in other countries to ensure they have peaceful and credible elections. What is wrong to ensure Nigeria does same with other countries as observers.

“El-Rufai’s statement that “those that are calling for anyone to intervene in Nigeria, we are waiting for the person to come and intervene. They would go back in body bags because nobody would come to Nigeria and tell us how to run our country” is unfortunate, condemnable, a call to violence and veiled threat to all peace loving people.”

They called on the security agencies to ensure the protection of lives and property before, during and after the forthcoming elections.

“We also urge the international and the election observers not to bow to threats such as the one coming from Governor Nasir Ahmad El-rufai,” they assured.

AfDB projects 4% GDP growth for Africa in 2019
Friday, February 08, 2019  BUSINESS

The African Development Bank Group said it is projecting a growth of 4 per cent this year and 4.1 per cent in 2020.

This is even as the President of the bank, Akinwumi Adesina, has assured the future of the continent remained bright.

“The future of our continent is looking very promising indeed,” Adesina declared in the opening words of his address to diplomats on Wednesday in Abidjan.

Adesina referred to the bank’s recent flagship publication, the African Economic Outlook 2019 which noted that the recovery in commodity prices is driving domestic demand and infrastructure investment, while real Africa’s GDP continued to improve in 2018 to 4.1 per cent.

The report noted that economic opportunities in Africa are generating considerable interest globally. For example, the agreement in March 2018 establishing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) will create the largest free trade area in the world. The CFTA will provide an unprecedented framework with the capacity to increase trade by at least 100 per cent in Africa.

“The African Development Bank is at the centre of the actions taken to ensure the success of the continental free-trade area. We have invested over one billion dollars to support the financing of trade in Africa,” Adesina said.

The bank, whose triple-A rating with stable outlook has been reconfirmed by the four major global rating agencies, has also invested $1 billion in Afreximbank, including $650 million in credit lines for trade finance and $350 million in insurance.

He said the free movement of people on the continent was another important driver of development. “We need to break down all barriers that impede the free movement of people across the continent, especially that of workers, because this is vital for promoting investment,” Adesina said.

In its report on intra-African investment the African Development Bank emphasised the significant increase incross-border investments – $12 billion last year, up from $2 billion in 2010. Under the G20 Compact with Africa, the bank has worked with the World Bank and the IMF to provide assistance to African countries, particularly to improve company regulations and the business environment.

“Africa will not develop through aid, but through investment”, said Adesina. This is why the African Development Bank, with its partners, launched the highly successful Africa Investment Forum (AIF) in Johannesburg, South Africa last November, securing investment interest in 49 deals across Africa worth over $38 billion in just two days.

He explained that the African Development Bank continues to invest in infrastructure to connect countries and improve their competitiveness. It has provided $16 million to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) for the preparation of feasibility studies for the Lagos-Abidjan corridor. It has also funded 1000 kilometres of road between Addis Ababa and Mombasa, which has increased trade fivefold between Ethiopia and Kenya.

High unemployment rate, inflation dragging economic growth trajectory
Friday, February 08, 2019  BUSINESS

Private sector operators under the aegis of the Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce (NACC), have described the need for improved governance to aid improvement in the standard of living of Nigerians, and build an economy that can withstand shock.

According to the stakeholders, although the economy exited recession in 2016, she is still in a stagflation state, based on very high rates of unemployment, double-digit inflation, and sluggish growth.

Specifically, the immediate past Director-General, West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM), Prof. Akpan Ekpo, predicted a three per cent growth rate in 2019, noting that with everything being equal pre and post elections, the Nigerian economy is expected to grow by one per cent this year.

Ekpo, at a breakfast meeting organised by the Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce (NACC), themed, “2018 Economic Review: Expectations for 2019,” noted that the current growth rate at two per cent is sluggish and fragile, stressing the need for economic managers to properly implement the ERGP, to ensure that the economy is on a growth trajectory.

In his words, “Growth rate at 3 per cent is not good enough as Nigeria must maintain a double digit growth rate in the next ten years to move Nigerians out of the poverty line.”

He said review of the economy in 2018, and expectations in 2019, suggest that economic development is a struggle; advising that the oil story should not describe the economy, while the quality of governance over-time should ensure a continuous improvement in the standard of living of most Nigerians in 2019 and beyond.

He said there is also an urgent need to prioritise development at sectors that would generate job opportunities, saying the economy needs a lot of proper management going forward in 2019.

”Having looked at all of the economic variables, the Nigerian economy is still primitive. The economy did not do well in 2018, very few people moved out of the poverty line. The two per cent growth rate is positive, but nothing to cheer about,” he added.
He urged the federal government to expedite action on the passage of the 2019 budget, adding that the budget is an economic tool deployed by both local and foreign direct investors, noting that as a result of the forthcoming elections, foreign portfolio investments have declined sharply.

Also speaking, the National President, NACC, Otunba Toyin Akomolafe, quoting the World Bank, said Nigeria’s GDP growth has remained largely unimpressive, and still exhibits the same pattern of the pre-crisis period of 2017.

He stressed that at as at third quarter 2018, the combination of unemployment and underemployment rates have reached an all-time high of 43.3 per cent, with an estimated 49.1 per cent of the country’s population living below the poverty line.

He assured that as a foremost bilateral chamber of commerce in Nigeria, the Chamber would continue to promote the development of trade, commerce, investment and industrial technological relationships between the public and private sectors of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the United States of America.

Desperation to hold power fuels conflict, says Jonathan
Friday, February 08, 2019  politics

“There is a vicious cycle in Africa where the struggle for political power leads to conflicts that bring up poor governance and create hardship which fuels the struggle for change of leadership, thus creating further conflicts and poor leadership.”

With these words yesterday, former President Goodluck Jonathan condemned the desperation of some African leaders to hold on to power, a situation that has brought avoidable woes to the people on the continent.

Jonathan spoke in Abuja at a one-day peace conference themed “Peaceful Elections and National Development” organised by the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation (GJF).

He also noted that Africa’s relatively slow growth and poor performing economies are linked to the preponderance of conflicts, and that many patriotic Africans will not deny the fact that at the root of most of the conflicts ravaging the continent is the desperation that often characterises the struggle for power.

He stressed that the 10 most developed nations on this earth are those that experience the least conflict while the 10 least developed countries, many of them here in Africa, are the ones wallowing in the worst form of conflict. “The reality is that any leader who is committed to the development of his country will do everything to save it from turmoil and conflicts.”

According to Jonathan, the work of the foundation focuses on credible elections, peaceful transitions, good governance, as well as promoting youth and women empowerment.

He said he had promised, upon leaving office as president in 2015, that he would be channelling his energy towards serving humanity in another form which is no less edifying, “along the lines of the focus of my life’s struggles, personal philosophy and ideals.”

“It is my considered view that as African leaders, we must change our approach and disposition towards stewardship. We must get to the stage where we should be more interested in developing our people, rather than ruling or just governing them. A development-minded leader is visionary and selfless. He does not seek power at all cost and will not wield it for his own sake.

“There is no gainsaying that when politicians resort to desperate measures in the bid to occupy important political positions, they run the risk of plunging their countries into serious crises that often lead to loss of lives, degradation of values as well as destruction of private and public assets.

“This breed of politicians often ignores the fact that to be patriotic is to love your country and be prepared to live and die for her honour, reputation, freedom, progress and the ascendancy of the common good. You can restore destroyed infrastructure almost to its former state or even better, but you cannot easily repair people’s psyche, reconcile aggrieved persons and restore hope in a nation, once they are damaged in destructive leadership struggles,” Jonathan said.

On the forthcoming general elections, Jonathan charged politicians to put Nigeria above all political considerations. “Politicians particularly those seeking elective offices must ensure that the peaceful coexistence of Nigerians is placed above their political ambition.”

Jonathan warned that there would be dangerous consequences for Nigeria and Africa should things go wrong with the polls.

“For democracy to endure and be productive on the continent, African politicians and other stakeholders must realize that true heroes of leadership are not those whose desperation to impose their will endangers society, but those who have the humility to subjugate their personal ambitions to the collective interest of their nations. Our political leaders must realize that the greatest and most enduring legacy to leave behind is that of peace and development.

“We are convinced that any one, either in government or outside government, who truly loves Nigeria, will not want to play the role of the villain by lending his support to any action that instigates crises,” he said.

The former president expressed worry that despite the marked improvement on the regularity and number of democratic nations, election-related violence has continued to be experienced in many African nations, often to the detriment of peaceful co-existence, economic growth and sustainable development. “Good governance is the fertile ground upon which peace and sustainable economic growth are planted.”

He maintained that in a democracy, periodic, credible and peaceful election is the necessary gateway to improved governance and people-oriented development. It is reassuring to note that democracy is being consolidated on the continent, with elections now conducted routinely by many African nations, he said.

“This year, hundreds of millions of Africans will go to the polls in at least 20 nations, from the south to the north of the continent, including Nigeria, Senegal and South Africa where general elections are holding.

“As the ongoing democratic process in Nigeria unfolds, with the rest of the world watching with keen interest, we are also mindful of the worries of Nigerians on whether it would end peacefully.”

The Chairman of the occasion and former head of state, Gen. Abdusalami Abubakar lauded Jonathan for his statesmanship in ensuring that the 2015 general elections did not witness any violence.

He urged other African countries to emulate Jonathan not to take their people for granted when they make their decision to elect a new leader.

The special guest of honour and former Liberian president, Prof. Amos Sawyer, expressed worry over the manner in which the image of the judicial arm of government is being tarnished by the executive arm of government.

“I hope all issues involving the judicial arm of government are resolved so as to bring the institution to its integrity being the last hope of the common man.”

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah, in his presentation titled “Electoral Violence in Nigeria: Causes, Consequences and Options for Prevention” listed some of the immediate causes as stereotyping, rumours and hate speech which he said triggers fake news.

The cleric urged Nigerians not to take the laws into their hands by ensuring that the forthcoming elections are peaceful, credible and transparent.

African airlines’ passengers traffic up by 6.5% in 2018- IATA
Friday, February 08, 2019  BUSINESS

African airlines recorded a 6.5 per cent increase in passengers’ traffic in 2018 compared to the six per cent annual growth recorded in 2017.

Mr Alexandre de Juniac, the Director-General, International Air Transport Association (IATA), said on Thursday in a statement in Lagos.

de Juniac said the strong performance took place in spite of the mixed economic backdrop of the continent’s largest economies, Nigeria and South Africa.

According to him, capacity rose by 4.4 per cent, and load factor jumped by 1.4 percentage points to 71.0 per cent.

He said Asia-Pacific Airlines’ 2018 traffic rose to 7.3 per cent compared to 2017 driven by robust regional economic expansion and an increase in route options for travellers.

The IATA chief said European carriers’ international traffic climbed 6.6 per cent in 2018 compared to the previous year, while Middle East carriers’ traffic increased 4.2 per cent compared to 2017.

He said North American airlines had their fastest demand growth since 2011, with full-year traffic rising by 5.0 per cent compared to 2017 and Latin American airlines’ traffic also climbed 6.9 per cent in 2017.

According to Soyinka, the decision to endorse Moghalu was reached after "months of studying the careers, experiences and track records of most of the presidential aspirants, and most intensely those actually short-listed by the opposition parties themselves". “Like millions of Nigerians, we watched the debates. I physically interacted with some of the acknowledged top contenders, in some cases several times.   FIRS Goes After 85,000 Millionaire Tax Debtors

FIRS goes after 85,000 millionaire tax debtors
Published February 8, 2019

The Executive Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service, Mr Tunde Fowler, has said that the Service, in collaboration with other stakeholders like the Nigeria Police Force, will this year go after wealthy tax defaulters.

Fowler said this on Thursday in Abuja when the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, paid a courtesy visit to the Revenue House.

A statement from the FIRS on Thursday said Fowler informed the police boss that already the service had realised the sum of N23bn based on a closer look at the books of 45,000 tax debtors.

He said each of the 45,000 tax debtors had over N100m as turnover in their accounts.

The Service, he said, would be going after another set of over 40, 000 millionaire tax defaulters in 2019.

He requested the Nigeria Police to assist the Service to bring the tax defaulters to pay their taxes.

He said, “We looked at businesses, partnerships of any activity that has banking turnover between N100m and N999m. We have done a review of this group of businesses.

“We have about seven more banks that we are still waiting for the return from and to review their information.

“So far, we have 45,361 that have TIN and are making payments. We have 40,611 that have TIN, that made tax payment and, and we have 44,504 that have no TIN and no pay.

“So, when you look at it from a glance, we have close to 75,000 in this group that are still not taxpayers and we have said the payment of tax is not only for the civil servants. it’s for all Nigerians.

“So, the millionaires and the billionaires will pay tax on behalf of what is due to the national coffers.”

Fowler commended the Nigerian Police Force for its support and collaboration over the years, which he said, had helped FIRS to achieve its target and requested for more support to enable it to recover taxes due to rich tax evaders in 2019.

“Let me put on record that the Nigeria Police Force has been extremely helpful to FIRS. Without the Police, I doubt that the Service would have been able to achieve what we have achieved.

“2018 was a successful year. The FIRS collected a total of N5.32tn of tax revenue. This is the highest revenue collection in the history of FIRS.”

Adamu said that the Police would continue to support the FIRS because the job of revenue generation was critical to the survival of the nation.

“We feel that the work you do is one of the most important for the survival of the country. And you need to be supported from all angles so that you can achieve what you want to achieve to the benefit of every Nigerian.

“We will continue to work with you to improve security so that people would do their businesses here, make profits and pay their taxes.

“We believe that with the new management team of the Nigeria Police Force, which is adopting community policing, we would be able to improve security.”

After playing youth football in Argentina and following a short spell in Portugal's regional leagues, Sala began his professional career in France with Bordeaux, making his professional debut in February 2012. After struggling to break into the first team, he was loaned out to Championnat National side Orléans and Ligue 2 side Niort in consecutive seasons. He enjoyed prolific spells with both clubs, scoring 39 goals between them, before returning to Bordeaux. After initially being promised an increased role after his successful loans, Sala fell out of favour again, and instead, joined fellow Ligue 1 side Caenon loan.
In 2015, he signed for Nantes on a permanent basis. With Nantes, he made more than 100 appearances in Ligue 1, and achieved a successful goalscoring record, finishing as the club's top goalscorer for three consecutive seasons. His form prompted a move to Cardiff City in January 2019, for a club record fee of £15 million (€18 million).
Sala was killed in a plane crash off the island of Alderney on 21 January 2019. He was flying from Nantes to Cardiff aboard a Piper Malibu light aircraft. Guernsey Police initially searched for three days over 1,700 square miles (4,400 km2) across the English Channel, before calling off the search after deeming the likelihood of the aircraft occupants surviving the incident being "extremely remote". Two subsequent private searches were launched, which yielded the wreckage and Sala's body on 7 February.

Tributes laid outside the Cardiff City Stadium following Sala's disappearance
After completing his medical at Cardiff, Sala returned to Nantes on the morning of 19 January on a plane arranged by football agent Mark McKay.[34] His intention was to return to Cardiff on 21 January in order to attend his first training session with his new club the following morning.[35] Sala had been invited to attend Cardiff's match against Newcastle United by manager Neil Warnock, but he chose to return to France in order to say goodbye to his Nantes teammates and collect personal belongings.[36]
On 22 January, Sala was confirmed to have been onboard a missing aircraft that was flying from Nantes to Cardiff.[37] The aircraft, the same Piper Malibu and pilot that brought Sala to Nantes two days earlier,[34][38] had gone missing off Alderney the previous day. On 23 January, Channel Islands Air Search reported that there was "no hope" of finding any survivors in the water.[39]
An audio message, allegedly sent from the plane by Sala to his friends via WhatsApp, was released by Argentine media outlet Olé. The audio message translates as follows:

Quote:"Hello, my brothers, how are you? Boy, I’m tired. I was here in Nantes taking care of things, things, things, things, things, things, and it never stops, it never stops, it never stops. Anyway guys, I’m up in this plane that feels like it's falling to pieces, and I’m going to Cardiff. [It's] crazy, we start tomorrow. Training in the afternoon, guys, in my new team... Let's see what happens. So, how's it going with you guys, all good? If in an hour and a half you have no news from me, I don't know if they are going to send someone to look for me because they cannot find me, but you will know... Man, I'm scared!"[40]
[size=undefined]
At 15:15 GMT on 24 January 2019, after a "very thorough and extensive search" including eighty hours of combined searching undertaken by three planes, five helicopters and two lifeboats,[38] Guernsey Policeannounced that they had called off the search for the aircraft or any survivors.[41][42] The decision led to calls worldwide for the search to continue, including numerous other footballers, among them fellow Argentine players Lionel MessiGonzalo HiguaínSergio Agüero and former player Diego Maradona.[43][44] The president of Argentina, Mauricio Macri, stated his intention to issue a formal request to the British and French governments for the search to resume.[45] An online petition also attracted over 65,000 signatures and Sala's family later announced their decision to fund a private search.[45][46]Over £280,000 was raised for this search on GoFundMe started by Sports Cover,[47] a sports agency that represents Sala.[48] The funds enabled the private search to commence on 26 January, with the launch of two boats, led by marine scientist David Mearns.[47]
On 28 January, plans were announced for an underwater search to begin "within a week", dependent on weather conditions, using an unmanned remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) to search an area of seabed north of Hurd's Deep.[36] On 29 January, Cardiff City F.C. included Sala on the team sheet for their game against Arsenal, with a daffodil next to his name in place of a squad number.[49] On 30 January, the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) reported that they had found two seat cushions washed up on a French beach, which were believed to be from the missing aircraft.[50]
On 3 February, it was announced that another underwater search for the aircraft had begun, using the AAIB's Geo Ocean III vessel which, together with a privately-funded vessel, was conducting sonar surveys. The planned search, lasting three days, would cover an area of 4 square nautical miles (14 km2; 5.3 sq mi), about 24 nautical miles (44 km; 28 mi) north of Guernsey.[51][52][53] At approximately 21:11 GMT, six hours after the new search had begun, it was reported that wreckage from the aircraft had been found on the seabed.[54][55][56] The wreckage was at a depth of about 63 metres (207 ft) and there was a possibility that the bodies of both Sala and David Ibbotson, the pilot, were still onboard.[57] On 4 February, investigators stated that there was one body visible inside the wreckage.[58][59]
On 7 February, it was reported that a body had been recovered from the wreckage. The body was taken to the Isle of Portland to be passed to the Dorset coroner. Later that day, the body was formally identified as that of Sala by Dorset Police.[60][61][62][63][/size]

You Have About 24 Hours To Pick Up Your PVC
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 02-08-2019, 06:58 AM - No Replies

Guys! We have less than 48 hours to go to our wards to pick up our Permanent Voters Cards (PVC).

And this thing is simple: no PVC, no voting. That means no PVC, no having a say in how Nigeria is run for the next 4 years.

We’ve already said before that the next 4 years will determine so much when it comes to this country and our future.

Some people have reported that their PVCs aren’t ready yet in their wards. What you have to do not is complain to INEC. Go and complain oo.

On their social media pages, in their officers, don’t let them rest. Let them know the importance of your PVC to you.

If you’re in Lagos you can reach INEC on 09056369789 and 08145419483, keep calling until they solve your problem.

Next week Saturday, the Presidential and National Assembly elections will arrive. Go pick up your PVC now, so you can vote. Please.

Are You Waiting For Babachir Lawal To Travel Abroad Too? Fayose Asks EFCC
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 02-07-2019, 09:55 PM - No Replies

The former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, on Thursday, asked the Economic Financial Crimes Commission, what was causing the delay in the persecution of the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal.

On his verified Twitter handle, Fayose wondered why after the Federal Government had expressed its readiness to prosecute Lawal, the EFCC seemed to be dragging its feet.

He asked if the anti-graft agency was waiting for Lawal to travel out of the country, the same way, the former Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Amb Ayo Oke and his wife, Folashade, was alleged to have left Nigeria.

He tweeted, “I have two questions for @officialEFCC, this govt said it was ready to try the former SGF, Babachir Lawal, are they waiting to aid him to travel abroad too? If they claimed Ex-NIA boss, Oke and his wife escaped abroad, has the former SGF escaped too?”

Oke and his wife are being prosecuted by the EFCC in connection with recovered $43,449,947, £27,800 and N23,218,000 linked to them.

A court on Thursday issued a bench warrant for their arrests after the EFCC repeatedly failed to bring them to court, revealing that the duo had travelled out of the country.

FG’s readiness to prosecute Lawal was revealed at the same time as Ayo Oke.

In January, EFCC filed 10 charges bordering on fraud allegations against the former SGF at an Abuja High Court.

Mr Lawal was removed from office after he was indicted by a Senate committee which investigated the management of money meant to assist persons displaced by Boko Haram.

Quote:BREAKING: At last, FG, ASUU reach agreement, sign deal

The federal government and the striking University teachers have finally signed an agreement, raising hope of an end to the three months old strike.

The agreement was signed on Thursday in Abuja during a meeting between the warring parties.

The University lecturers commenced a nationwide strike late last year to demand for the full implementation of the agreement it reached with the government in 2009.

Until now, government and the leadership of the union have met nine different times, with non yielding any meaningful result.

Meanwhile, ASUU has not formally declared suspension of the strike as it is yet to address the media as at the time of filing this report.

Who are you to tell me how to spend my money – Cardi B

Cardi B has slammed all those who love to criticize celebrities when they spend on material things in an extravagant way.

[Image: Who-are-you-to-tell-me-how-to-spend-my-m...47x410.jpg]
In a new social media post, the mother of one stated that celebrities spend money however they want because they do so to maintain a certain lifestyle which they worked hard for.
She also stated that no one has the right to question how she spends her money, especially those who love to ask why a celebrity couldn’t donate such money, perhaps to charity.
Cardi said:

“You know what I hate? I hate when celebrities do something very extravagant, buy something very luxurious – there’s people in the comments like, ‘You could’ve donated that! Oh, we goin’ backwards! You could’ve done this and that with your money!’ And it’s like, ‘Who are you to tell people what to do with they hard workin’-a** money?’ First of all, do you know that artists, celebrities – the IRS, out of every check that you make, they automatically take 45% of your check. That means in order to spend 500,000, you gotta make at least a million.”

Cardi continued:

“Then, like, a artist like me, and a lot of rappers that I know – they literally take care of they whole family. And that’s not tax reducible because the IRS don’t consider that a business. On top of that – being an artist, looking good for y’all, doin’ all this extra sh*t to please y’all – that sh*t costs money! Like, me, for example – my bills, it’s like I’ll say about 300,000, [or] 250,000 every single month. And I try to put it cheaper, and it’s just not.”

“This is surreal. It has been a trip lately thinking back over the course of this career I’ve somehow managed to have. I signed my first record deal 23 years ago.

“I have achieved exactly what I wanted to achieve.
“Because I always knew what my strong points were. I don’t sell sex, I don’t sell perfume, I’m not the prettiest, I’m not the best. I’m fucking hard-looking and I have enough talent and I work on my fucking craft and I put my head down and I win.
“And I charge and I charge and I charge. And I don’t give up. So when I wasn’t selling records, I was still selling out arenas. I didn’t need to win any popularity contests; I wanted to be a fucking touring artist and I wanted to be great at what I

Michael B. Jordan reveals why he went for therapy after Black Panther
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories

Actor Michael B. Jordan has revealed why he went for therapy immediately after he finished shooting the hit movie Black Panther. According to him, he had to do so many things so as to assume the character Erik Killmonger which he played.

[Image: Michael-B.-Jordan-reveals-why-he-went-fo...47x410.jpg]
Speaking with Oprah Winfrey, Michael B. Jordan said the character he played had a lonely childhood with no friends got all to about his dreams. In order to assume that role, he said he had to shut out his loved ones, a thing that led him to a dark place.

“I spent a lot of time alone. I figured Erik [Killmonger], his childhood growing up was pretty lonely. He didn’t have a lot of people he could talk to about this place called Wakanda that didn’t exist,” he said.

He went on to describe how he later got back to his real self after the movie.

“I went to therapy, I started talking to people, starting unpacking a little bit. [It] helped me out a lot…It was a little tough for me at first. Readjusting to people caring about me, getting that love that I shut out. I shut out love, I didn’t want love. I wanted to be in this lonely place as long as I could.”

He continued:

“Of course it’s an extreme, exaggerated version of the African diaspora from the African-American perspective, so to be able to take that kind of pain and rage and all those emotions that Erik kind of represents from being black and brown here in America … that was something I didn’t take lightly. When it was all over, I think just being in that kind of mind state … it caught up with me.”

Speaking on why he recommends therapy:

“Your mind is so powerful. Your mind will get your body past a threshold that it would have given up on way before. Honestly, therapy, just talking to somebody just helped me out a lot. As a man you get a lot of slack for it…I don’t really subscribe to that. Everyone needs to unpack and talk.“

CUPP alleges plan to frame up Atiku, Saraki, Melaye

The Coalition of United Political Parties has alleged that there is a grand plot by the Federal Government to implicate the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Bukola Saraki; Senator Dino Melaye and other opposition leaders as the 2019 election approaches.

The coalition’s spokesman, Imo Ugochinyere, in a statement released to newsmen, said the opposition politicians will be accused of gunrunning. The statement in part reads

Quote:“Elements of the ruling party have commenced the branding of some vehicles with the colours of the opposition bearing the photos of these opposition leaders and have acquired arms which will be hidden in the vehicles and the vehicles will be driven to join the campaign convoy of the opposition consensus candidate in Kwara, Kogi and Adamawa and other parts of the country where they have also selected.
“The vehicles will eventually be searched by the police and the arms recovered. Their plot will include mobilising thugs and causing violence on the day of such recovery so as to tag the opposition as violent. The APC leaders are aware Nigerians now know them for their violence which has trailed their campaigns nationwide.
“Their internal crisis and ‘grab-power-by-all-means’ attitude have catalysed their rejection by Nigerians and they desire to break all the laws to cast the opposition in bad light.
“On poll day, part of their plot include also to use more of these branded vehicles loaded with thugs to disrupt voting and collation in
some centres and blame the opposition for violence and disruption of the process which will lead to mass arrest of opposition leaders to give the ruling party advantage to rig and deny the people the opportunity to give their preferred candidates their mandate.
The security agencies are hereby put on notice that Nigerians will not accept any breach of security being orchestrated by elements of the ruling party disguised in whichever form they choose.
Nigerians are put on notice to be watchful and vigilant to see through the evil plans of the ravenous group of rulers we have in our country today. They should not be deterred. Their songs of war and plot to rig the elections will be resisted. APC is already in morbid fear of losing elections and all their shenanigans are like the last futile kicks of a dying horse.”

Piers Morgan reacts after Dr. Victoria Bateman went completely naked during a speech to protest Brexit (photos/video)

Dr Victoria Bateman, an Economics Fellow from the University of Cambridge, went completely naked to protest Brexit.

In a performance at the Cambridge Junction theatre last week, on the eve of the Parliamentary vote on Britain's exit from the European Union, Dr. Victoria Bateman carried out a naked protest as she argued that "Brexit leaves Britain naked".

During her naked protest, she argued that

Quote:"Britain has sold itself the emperor's new clothes. She explores how Brexit leaves the British economy exposed, how it has uncovered and fuelled dangerous anti-immigration sentiments, and how it has laid bare the failures of past policy - failures that mean that too many people believe they have nothing to lose from Brexit simply because they have nothing at all."
Victoria concluded with a warning: that Britain is changing direction, away from travelling the road that leads to a free and open society to instead travel a path that is nationalistic and unwelcoming.

She added that "In the dark times ahead, we must all keep on making the case for freedom - a freedom that goes beyond the individual nation state and that allows each and every one of us to make the most of our lives no matter where we are born."
Reacting to the Naked protest, Piers Morgan, who is very vocal about his opinions, shared the video and wrote:

Ghanaian singer, Becca has shared baby bump photos to prove that she didn’t welcome her new born baby through surrogacy. Recall that we broke the news when shewelcomed the baby with her Nigerian husband Tobi Sanni.

[Image: Becca-shares-baby-bump-pics-to-prove-she...47x410.jpg]When the news broke, many doubted she was ever pregnant owing to the fact that the baby arrived just six months after her wedding, especially when there was no sign of her looking pregnant on her wedding day.
Some even went as far as saying her Nigerian husband had no choice but to marry her when he discovered she was pregnant for him.

To prove the critics wrong, Becca took to Instagram with pictures of her rocking her baby bump in a nice Fendi apparel.

See pictures below.

In a cover-story interview for Parents magazine’s March issue, Ayesha, 29, reveals her secrets to running her household.

Talking about the rules she has established for her family, Curry explains to the outlet,

“The toughest one for us to follow is no phones at the table.”
“Of course, there are those moments when the kids do something super cute and you just have to record it,” she continues. “But we really try to implement the no-phones rule. Our kids love being at the table together, talking about their day, singing songs and telling jokes. It’s a special time.”

FG has marked 200 judges for unprecedented intimidation - Governor Wike
[Image: 5c57dcea53aae.jpg]
Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, has accused the Federal Government of planning to go after 200 Judges in Nigeria. Governor Wike made this claim during the central healing service of the Greater Evangelism World Crusade on Sunday February 3rd in Port Harcourt.
He alleged that the APC-led Federal Government has marshalled out an onslaught to intimidate 200 Judges, especially those of the Federal Judiciary. He said that the Federal Government has collected the asset declaration forms of 200 Judges from the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) for the planned mass onslaught.
“I intercepted a discussion by a Minister of the Federal Executive Council where he was telling a gathering that they are happy that they have dealt with the Supreme Court. The Minister said that the next set would be the Court of Appeal Judges and the Federal High Court judges. The Minister said any judge that fails to cooperate will face trump up charges and compelled to resign.
“This APC Federal Government has gone to the Code of Conduct Bureau to get the asset declaration forms of 200 Judges. Any judge that fails to follow their evil plot, will be harassed with false allegations and persecution” he said

Speaking further, Governor Wike said

''The chuurch should continually pray for the Federal Judiciary. The Judiciary in Nigeria is under siege. If anything happens to the judiciary, our democracy is in trouble. The Church needs to pray for the judges to remain strong in the face of intimidation and harassment.”
