I will not be a spectator, viewer or supporter of the #SuperBowl today in protest of the @NFL’s racist treatment of @Kaepernick7 and its ongoing disregard for the health + well-being of all its players. To watch the game is to compromise my beliefs. It’s not worth it. #ImWithKap

Emiliano Sala's plane wreckage found, still no sign of the player
[Image: 5c57ddd63d2fd.JPG]
Wreckage from a plane carrying Cardiff City footballer Emiliano Sala has been discovered in the English Channel. The Piper Malibu N264DB was lost on 21 January on its way from Nantes, France, to Cardiff, with the Argentine striker and pilot David Ibbotson on board.

Accident investigators are expected to send a submersible to inspect the wreckage later on Monday. David Mearns, who led a privately-funded search for the aircraft, said it was located off Guernsey on Sunday.

He said: "All I will say, is that there is a substantial amount of wreckage on the seabed." Mr Mearns' private search has now been stood down and the Air Accident Investigation Branch is at the site working to recover the plane.

In a series of tweets, marine scientist Mr Mearns said: "The families of Emiliano Sala and David Ibbotson have been notified by police. Our sole thoughts are with the families and friends of Emiliano and David."

Speaking to Argentinian broadcaster Cronica TV, Sala's father Horacio said: "I cannot believe it. This is a dream. A bad dream. I am desperate."

Cardiff had signed Sala for a club record of £15m and he was due to start training last month.
The 28-year-old player and Mr Ibbotson, 59, from Crowle, North Lincolnshire, were travelling from Nantes, where he had previously played, when the flight lost contact with air traffic controllers.

23-year-old, Blessing Aluna, pictured above, has been arrested by men of the Niger state police command for selling her one-week old baby for N200, 000.
According to reports, Blessing who resides in Rimi Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State, was arrested for allegedly conniving with Oludare Jeprince, who was said to be her boyfriend and accomplice, to kidnap and facilitate the sale of the baby.
When interrogated, Blessing blamed poverty for her action.
“Imagine me selling my child for money; that will tell you the level of hardship in the country. I sold my own child for N200,000 in order to open a provision store in Suleja at least to take care of myself and my siblings.”
Blessing said she regrets her action.
“I have done the worst thing to humanity and especially to my own child. I don’t think I deserve to be alive, let the law take its course.” she said
Confirming their arrest, the command’s spokesperson, Muhammad Abubakar, said the suspects would be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are concluded.

Cardi B refused to perform at the Super Bowl as her way of showing support for Colin Kaepernick. But some people felt she didn't do enough.
Cardi featured in a recent Pepsi commercial which was advertised at the Super Bowl and to some people, this means Cardi still benefitted from the NFL.
Cardi's sister, Hennessy Carolina shared a photo of herself with Colin Kaepernick and said, "Today is Colin Kaepernick's day."
It was her way of standing with her sister and with Colin but a follower told her they were being hypocrites by claiming to care about Colin, yet not going all the way to support him. The follower said that by doing the Pepsi ad, Cardi was already aligning with the NFL and benefitting from them.
And Hennessy clapped back at the follower.
See her reply below.

Osinbajo's helicopter crash is a final warning from the living God - FFK
[Image: 5c57e521d29d9.jpg]
Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, says the helicopter crash which Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was involved in Saturday February 2, is a 'last warning from the living God'. Read his piece below
You committed mass murder, slaughtered the faithful, indulged in genocide and supported ethnic cleansing.
You impoverished my people, sacrificed young Leah Sharibu, locked up your enemies and tormenented the innocent.
You persecuted my Church, bullied the weak, stole from the poor, destroyed the young and decimated the old.
You shattered the upright, poured scorn on the righteous, despised my word and showed no mercy to the fatherless.
You punished the widows, mocked the orphans, despised the weak and enslaved the poor.
You destroyed the righteous, touched my annointed, dishonored my servants, ignored my word and did my Prophets harm.
You did all this and more in spite of my righteous anger and my holy word. I sent many to warn you but but you hardened your heart and would not listen.
Many shed tears on account of your bestial wickedness and unrelenting brutality yet you showed them no mercy. You humiliated them before the world, you threw them into dungeons and you refused to release them.

President Muhammadu Buhari
They prayed to me and called on my name. I heard their cry, I afflicted you with a strange disease and I sent you abroad for 104 days. Yet you hardened your heart and would not listen.
I touched your tongue and caused you to speak gibberish and nonsense before the world. Yet you hardened your heart and would not listen. I made you collapse in your political rallies. Yet you hardened your heart and would not listen.
I took away your health, twisted your mind and blighted your body, spirit and soul. Yet you hardened your heart and would not listen. I ridiculed you before your people and made you dance naked in the market place. Yet you hardened your heart and would not listen.
I made your Vice betray his faith, desecrate his profession, forsake his calling and abandon his people and I caused him to suffer many secret misfortunes and have two helicopter crashes in the space of 7 months. Yet you hardened your heart and would not listen.
I warned you and sent you all these signals and signs because I am a God of love and a God of mercy. Yet you continued to dare and despise me and you hardened your heart and would not listen.

Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo
Now hear this: if you do not desist from your wicked ways and if you do not stop troubling my people and persecuting my children worst will come.
If you do not let my people go and free them from the cruel bondage of your vicious tyranny you will feel my full wrath and taste of my awesome power. I am the Lord: I give life and I kill. None can stand against me. Ask Pharaoh, Nebudchadnezzar, Herod and Sennacherub and consider their end.
In the next few weeks and months I will show you more of my signs and wonders. Only this time around it will not just be a warning.

If you do not abandon your evil ways and if you do not desist from doing that which you are planning to do during and after the election, my judgement will be utterly devastating and it will be final and irrevocable.
I give life and I kill. I am a God of vengeance. I hold the world together by the power of my word. I bring Kings to their knees and I shatter the foundations of tyrants.
I am the Lord of the universe, the God of all flesh. I am the creator of all that is and all that is to come: nothing is hidden from me, none can stand against me and none can resist me in battle.

SHOCKING!! Catholic Priests And Bishops Sexually Abuse Nuns, Turn Them To Sex Slaves
Global News
[Image: d1f04947c23a3ea5229d97e506824271584a9777.webp]
Pope Francis
Pope Francis has for the first time publicly acknowledged that priests and bishops sexually abused nuns.

Speaking to reporters while returning home from the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday, January 5, the pontiff said, "It's not that everyone does this, but there are some priests and also bishops who have done it."

"And I think that it's continuing because it's not like once you realise it that it stops. It continues. And for some time we've been working on it," he said.

The February issue of Women Church World, a supplement distributed with the Vatican's Osservatore Romano newspaper, stated that nuns have been silent over abuse for decades for fear of retaliation.

It added that the Vatican received reports of priests abusing nuns in Africa in the 1990s.

"If the Church continues to close its eyes to the scandal - made even worse by the fact that abuse of women brings about procreation and is therefore at the origin of forced abortions and children who aren't recognised by priests - the oppression of women in the Church will never change," editor Lucetta Scaraffia wrote.

[Image: 229588cb01a9349a417789d770c62e516c802457.webp]
The pope has summoned the heads of some 110 national Catholic bishops' conferences and dozens of experts and leaders of religious orders to the Vatican from February 21 to 24 for an extraordinary meeting on the sexual abuse crisis.

Victims of clerical sexual abuse are hoping that the meeting will finally come up with a clear policy to hold bishops themselves accountable for the mishandling of abuse cases.

Indian nun accused bishop of r*pe

The issue hit the headlines last year after an Indian nun accused a bishop of repeatedly raping her in a case that triggered rare dissent within the country's Catholic Church.

Bishop Franco Mulakkal was arrested on September 21 in the southern state of Kerala on suspicion of raping the nun in question 13 times between 2014 and 2016.

Pope Francis suspended him the day before his arrest, appointing another bishop in his place.

Mulakkal, 53, who headed the diocese of Jalandhar in the northern state of Punjab, denied the allegations.

[Image: 3e1a6b4adab88df87cc75173956dbcb209667d6d.webp]
The nun first spoke out in June but police only started formal questioning in September as fury over the case mounted.

Five nuns and dozens of supporters staged days of protests in a rare public show of dissent within the Indian Catholic Church.

'S*xual slavery'

Pope Francis said Pope Benedict XVI had taken action against a France-based order after some of its religious sisters were reduced to "s*xual slavery" at the hands of the priest who founded the order and other priests within it.

[Image: f66a7a8e79a99632db55c13ec4bd190878cdd79f.webp]
Francis credited Benedict, pope from 2005 to 2013, with having had the courage to tackle the problem, saying Benedict took action against the French congregation "because a certain slavery of women had crept in, slavery to the point of sexual slavery on the part of clergy or the founder," he said.

"Sometimes the founder takes away, or empties, the freedom of the sisters. It can come to this," Francis said.

Local Goverments were paid about N20million to ‘purchase’ people for President Buhari’s rallies - Buba Galadima alleges
[Image: 5c57ec578ac86.JPG]
Buba Galadima while appearing as a guest on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics said the mammoth crowd seen at venues of recent APC rallies are charades, he claims that the people were paid to attend the presidential campaigns of the ruling party.

The spokesman of the PDP presidential campaign alleged that at “every campaign that Buhari goes to in an APC-controlled state, local governments are empowered with twenty to forty-five million naira to purchase people and bring them to these rallies, and suddenly Buhari starts addressing the crowd and they all disappear because they must fulfil the contract for which they were brought in “.

The Elder Statesman claimed that in Kaduna, Atiku gathered twice the number that Buhari gathered, adding that the same feat was experienced in Kano. “One Local Government rally by Kwankwaso is more than the global rally that was organised for Buhari after spending nearly one billion naira” Galadima said.

He also said that the present government is a government of exclusion, adding that it is a government operating on the theories of nepotism and bedevilled by corruption. Galadima said, “It is shameful that somebody who rides on the issue of corruption will raise the hand of a thief, certified crook, and say this is our candidate”.

Quote:“In Kano, you have seen the President raising the hand of a corrupt individual, a corrupt person that the whole nation has seen taking bribes, they are talking of corruption, that man belongs to them.
“They brought people from Niger, my good friend the Sultanate of Damagaram and two Governors from the Niger Republic, are already telling us that they will bring aliens to vote for them,” Galadima alleged.
Galadima also reacted to the recent endorsement of Atiku Abubakar by leaders of the Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, Northern Elders Forum, Pan-Niger Delta forum, the Middle Belt Forum, and a faction of Afenifere.

He said those who endorsed Atiku are respected Elder Statesmen, adding that it was a clear show of unity by tribes and regions that previously do not see eye-to-eye. “I commend these Elders for coming out boldly to tell the world that in Atiku they have seen a candidate that will unite Nigeria,” Galadima said.

A young American man with blond hair, red beard, and black eyebrows has been charged with identity theft after he pretended to be someone else to use stolen credit cards.
20-year-old Julian R. Mitchell from Tennessee was arrested on Thursday after trying to use the stolen card at a Nashville bar.

According to Mail Online, when the bar's system detected that the card had been lost or stolen, Mitchell was asked for identification to prove the card was his.
Police said he handed over a Tennessee driver's license that was 'plainly obvious' that it was not his.  After being questioned, Mitchell allegedly denied using the stolen ID.

When Police searched him, they found the victim's wallet and also discovered that he had several other stolen credit cards belonging to the victim.
He was arrested for identity theft and is being held in Davidson County jail on a $25,000 bond.

Cedric Joseph Marks, an MMA fighter facing murder charges escaped custody for nine hours before he was re-arrested on Sunday by Texas Police.

The 44-year old suspect escaped from a Texas Prisoner Transport Services van when it stopped at a McDonald's. Marks was being taken from a prison in Michigan after being captured by US Marshals on a warrant for burglary of a home.

Marks was in restraints but after he escaped, he was able to get out of his shackles. Lt. Dorcy McGinnis with the Conroe Police Department said during a news conference Sunday that two employees from the transport service and nine other inmates were in the van at the time.

"We do believe there was still one (guard) in the van or near the van," McGinnis said when asked whether Marks was being supervised. Police described Marks as extremely dangerous.

Lt. Scott Spencer with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office tweeted that Marks has been captured "after an exhausting 9-hour manhunt involving multiple Montgomery County, State and Federal Law Enforcement agencies."

Marks faces charges in multiple killings, officials said, including the deaths of Michael Swearingen, 32, and Jenna Scott, 28, in Temple, Texas, in January, according to Conroe police. Marks has been an MMA fighter for more than 19 years, according to an MMA fighter database. A middleweight fighter who also goes by the name "Spider Man," Marks has a record of 31 wins, 28 losses and zero draws.

NURTW chairman of Boundary/Aiyetoro Unit, Lagos State, Saheed Arogundade was yesterday sentenced to death by hanging.

Saheed Arogundade got the sentence for the murder of a 32-year-old policeman, Gbenga Oladipupo.
[Image: NURTW-chairman-sentenced-to-death-by-han...00x400.jpg]
Justice Olabisi Akinlade discharged and acquitted Arogundade’s five co-defendants Mustapha Layeni, Adebayo Abdullahi, Seyi Pabiekun, Sikiru Rufai and Yusuf Arogundade of a two-count charge of conspiracy to commit murder.
In a three-hour judgment, the judge at a Ikeja High Court, held that the prosecution was able to prove beyond reasonable doubt that Arogundade murdered the policeman.
Before delivering the judgment, for security reasons and to avoid disruption of proceedings, the judge ordered that the courtroom should be locked and the keys kept in her possession.

“The prosecution has been able to prove beyond reasonable doubt, the ingredients of conspiracy to commit murder and murder against the first defendant (convict).
“I therefore pronounce the first defendant guilty as charged on the counts of conspiracy to commit murder and murder.
“I hereby pronounce the sentence of the court upon you Saheed Arogundade – that you be hanged from the neck until you are dead. May God have mercy upon your soul,” Akinlade said.
On hearing the sentence, Arogundade collapsed in the dock while his relatives wailed in the courtroom gallery.

According to the prosecution led by Mrs C. Rotimi-Odutola, the convict committed the offences on April 10, 2010, at Gbara Junction, Aiyetoro, Ajegunle, Lagos.
“The deceased was on a commercial motorcycle to visit his mother, Mrs Mojisola Martins, in her home on Olayinka Street, Ajegunle, when they were ambushed and attacked by four men at Gbara Junction.
“Oladipupo was held down by three men and the convict stabbed him multiple times before fleeing with his accomplices.
“The deceased who was gravely injured, was taken to a hospital at Opaleye Junction in Ajegunle where he passed away,” the prosecutor said.

According to her, Oladipupo was murdered because he purportedly encouraged the use of commercial tricycles in Aiyetoro, causing loss of income for the NURTW unit. The offences contravene Sections 234 and 316 of the Penal Code Law, 2003.
NAN reports that eight witnesses testified for the prosecution against the convict including Ismaila Lukman, the commercial motorcyclist, who was transporting the deceased to his mother’s residence when they were ambushed. The deceased’s mother, Mrs Mojisola Martins, also testified.

Eden Hazard hopeful over Real Madrid move

Eden Hazzard is hopeful that Real Madrid will be able to complete a big-money move to sign him in the summer from Chelsea.
[Image: Eden-Hazard-hopeful-over-Real-Madrid-mov...00x400.jpg]
Spanish giants, Real Madrid have been interested in signing Eden Hazard since late 2016 and it is expected that Los Blancos will have to pay over £100 million ($130m) to complete a deal.
Isco has become dispensable for the Santiago Bernabeu club, meaning the potential sale of the Spain international would go some way towards putting a dent in the figures necessary to sign Belgium international Hazard.
In addition, Madrid have shown restraint in the two previous summer transfer windows, leading to a budget capable of securing a deal for a superstar attacker.
The Spanish capital club do have one factor on their side, however, with Hazard’s contract set to enter its final year this summer. Still, that leverage would only go so far given the quality of the player in question.

However, it remains uncertain whether Madrid will make an offer for the 28-year-old, who has previously indicated that he will be happy to remain at Stamford Bridge if a move doesn’t materialise.
In that scenario, the Belgium captain will likely see out the rest of his career at Chelsea, though he has made no secret of his desire to join the European champions, stating that it would be a ‘dream move’.

Wayne Rooney has stated that Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino would be the “right guy” for Manchester United if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not eventually get made permanent manager.
[Image: 8688883_header31_jpeg8811ca81eb946cfd367...00x338.jpg]
Pochettino has been strongly linked with the permanent job at Old Trafford since the sacking of Those Mounting last december.

According to Rooney, the Argentine can still take charge of the team.

“It’d be nice to see Ole Gunnar continue with this form and get a shot at the job on a permanent basis,” Rooney told CNN.
“But if not, if the club go to choose from somewhere else, then I think Pochettino would be the right guy,” added United’s all-time leading goalscorer.

Jay-Z has hired an attorney to help 21 Savage, so he does not get deported to the UK, as he also slammed the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
21 Savage is currently detained by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), after they discovered he is a British citizen living in the US illegally.
[Image: Jay-Z-hires-an-attorney-to-help-21-Savag...00x400.jpg]

According to TMZ, Jay-Z said the arrest and detention of the rapper is “an absolute travesty” and points out that his US Visa application has been pending for years. He said;

“In addition to being a successful recording artist, 21 deserves to be reunited with his children immediately.”

It was also confirmed that Jay-Z’s company, Roc Nation has responded to what it calls a “matter of injustice” by hiring attorney Alex Spiro to assist with his case. Spiro told TMZ;

“We are not going to stop until he is released, bonded out or in front of a judge … What we have here is someone who overstayed their Visa with an application pending for 4 years – not a convicted criminal that needs to be detained and removed but, by all accounts a wonderful person, father, and entertainer who has a marijuana offense which was vacated and sealed.”
According to reports, 21 Savage actually had a visa permit pending for four years before he reapplied for his US Visa in 2017, which they claim must have led the authorities to do a background check that discovered his visa was expired before his arrest.

The European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) has replied Governor El-Rufai’s ‘body bag’ threat to foreigners ahead of the 2019 elections
[Image: EU-replies-Governor-El-Rufais-body-bag-t...00x400.jpg]
The Kaduna state governor, Nasir el-Rufai, had said anyone who comes into Nigeria to interfere in our politics will leave in body bags.

The European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) in response to the statement said they have been invited by INEC to observe elections since 1999.

They also emphasized that they won’t be swayed by his comments as they will continue their work across the country. See full statement below;

“We are aware of the comments by the Governor of Kaduna about non-interference by foreigners during a talk show on the elections Tuesday 5 February.

“The EU only deploys an election observation mission when it is invited to do so by the authorities of a country. The EU has been invited to observe all of the general elections in Nigeria since 1999. Thus this is the sixth time the EU is observing elections in Nigeria.

“The Independent National Electoral Commission invited the EU to deploy an observation mission for the 2019 general elections.

“EU election observation missions give commentary and analysis and make recommendations about the electoral process. EU election observation missions are impartial, do not interfere in the electoral process, and operate according to a strict code of conduct.”

While the security of EU observers is of paramount importance, and will remain under constant review, EU observers will continue their work across the country in the run-up to – and beyond – the 16 February elections.

“For the last month the mission’s team in Abuja, as well as 40 long-term observers across the country, have followed the elections.

“We have met with a wide range of candidates, parties, election officials, security agencies, and civil society organizations, and have enjoyed good cooperation at federal and state levels.
“The mission looks at all aspects of the election, including the campaign tone, the transparency of the election administration, the neutrality of security forces, and the independence of the judiciary.”

21 Savage confirms he is actually from UK

Rapper  21 Savage, has confirmed that he was born in the United Kingdom, as suggested by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE).
[Image: 21-Savage-confirms-he-is-actually-from-U...00x400.jpg]
Speaking via his representatives, Savage stated that he arrived in the USA when he was seven years old, but ‘through no fault of his own’ his legal status to remain in the USA expired in 2006. He also claims he didn’t realise this until 2017, when he applied for a new one. The statement reads;

“Mr. Abraham-Joseph has three U.S. Citizen children, a lawful permanent resident mother and four siblings that are either US Citizens or lawful permanent residents. He has exceptionally strong ties in the United States, having lived here since he was in the first grade.

“Because of his length of residence in the United States and his immediate relatives, Mr. Abraham-Joseph is eligible to seek Cancellation of Removal from an Immigration Judge.”

“Mr. Abraham-Joseph was placed into deportation proceedings AFTER his arrest, he was not in deportation proceedings prior to this detention by ICE. DHS has known his address since the filing of a U visa application in 2017.

“He has never hidden from DHS or any of its agencies. Mr. Abraham-Joseph is not subject to mandatory detention under federal law and is eligible for bond. By statute, bond should be granted by ICE when there is no flight risk or a danger to the community…

“We are unaware of why ICE apparently targeted Mr. Abraham-Joseph, but we will do everything possible to legally seek his release and pursue his available relief in immigration court.”

However, the original ICE statement said:
“Initially entered the U.S. legally in July 2005, but subsequently failed to depart under the terms of his non-immigrant visa and he became unlawfully present in the U.S. when his visa expired in July 2006. In addition to being in violation of federal immigration law, [21 Savage] was convicted on felony drug charges in October 2014 in Fulton County, Georgia.”

Popular actress,Uche Jombo, has spoken on sexual assault in the Nigerian movie industry, revealing that she was once a victim of the abuse.
[Image: Uche-Jombo-speaks-on-sexual-assault-in-N...00x400.jpg]
The respected filmmaker made this known during an interview with HipTV while speaking on the widespread allegations of sexual assault on upcoming actresses. She said;

“I’ve been in that kind of situation twice during my starting days,” she said. “I rehearsed for almost two weeks only to come next and find that someone else was reading my role because I declined the request to ‘see me’ (for sex).

I wept seriously, I was hurt but four to five years later, I made it big.”

Explaining how she survived and maintained her stance at the time, the 39-year-old actress said,

“It is personal integrity. In my days, we move on when we’re denied opportunities for refusing to give in to s#xual demands.

Sometimes, it’s your individual strength, drive and process that matters. What takes some six months to accomplish might take others six years. Are you ready to wait for your time or you just want a shortcut that leads to no long-lasting opportunity? If you want the shortcut, chances are that there are people willing to give it.”

She further went on to say that people who engage in such acts should be called out explaining that this would force Nollywood recruiters and opportunity givers who indulge in such acts to “be humans again”.

I kind of had a freak out moment right before I was supposed to walk down the aisle.
I remember them putting the veil on me and the veil was like 75 feet…, but I had a freak out moment when I was standing behind the curtains.
They were going to tell me when to walk out and the music was going to start playing… I just started having a panic attack.

Then the doors opened and I saw [Nick] and I cannot forget that moment.

Speaking on why she chose to add Nick’s surname to hers, the actress told Jimmy Fallon;

Peace Mass Transit (PMT) Limited would continue to train and retrain professional drivers in its employ to ensure optimal performance on the high way, Vice Chairman, Chief Mrs. Emilia Onyishi has said.
[Image: FRSC-takes-Peace-Mass-drivers-in-refresh...00x400.jpg]
She spoke Monday at the flag off of a training programme conducted for PMT drivers by the [url=https://lailasnews.com/tag/frsc][/url]Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), at the PMT headquarters, Emene Enugu.
[Image: FRSC-takes-Peace-Mass-drivers-in-refresh...7x410.jpeg]

“It is our duty to train and retrain drivers, and put them in the best possible conditions to minimize and possibly eliminate avoidable accidents on the high way” she added
She pledged that PMT would spare no resources to ensure the safety of its drivers and passengers.
The PMT vice Chairman explained that in addition to the retraining programme conducted by officers of the FRSC, the company also had a regular retraining schedule religiously observed by the Peace Mass Safety Manager.
[Image: FRSC-takes-Peace-Mass-drivers-in-refresh...7x410.jpeg]
“PMT has a daily training programme for drivers who come in for routine maintenance, in addition to this type, conducted by the regulators of our sectors, the FRSC”, she said. “We do all these because safety is of paramount importance to us” she added.
Mrs. Onyishi urged the drivers to take advantage of the exercise, as most of the resource persons from the FRSC were well trained themselves, and, therefore, in the best position to prepare them better for the job they do.

“It is not because you have not been doing well; the training is important so we can do better”, she said

Mr. Ugah Anthony Okoronkwo, who represented the State Commandant of FRSC, commended PMT for regularly training and retraining its drivers, urging them not to relent as no investment in the quest to preserve human lives was too much.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

THURSDAY, 7TH FEBRUARY.

TRANSFORMATION BY THE WORD.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind… (Romans 12:2).

If you’re going to experience unending victories, and progress in the divine walk, you must think, talk, and act in sync with God’s Word. God’s Word has the ability to produce in you and for you the message that it bears. When you think on the Word as our opening verse admonishes, ideas and pictures of success, endless possibilities and victory will flood your mind.

Remember, you’re the character of your thoughts; so, when your thoughts are in sync with the provisions of the Gospel, your life will be a reflection of the same. The Word is God’s power to transform your life. When you hear the Word, there must be a response from you, and it’s that response that brings about the transformation. This transformation is something you can, and should experience frequently.

Every time you hear the Word, it’s an opportunity for you to be transformed from glory to glory. 2 Corinthians 3:18 says, _*“But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory….” Your glory increases as you study and meditate on the Word, because the glory of God is in His Word. Your atmosphere becomes conditioned in your favour, as you speak in agreement with God.

Keep speaking the Word, irrespective of the challenges you might be facing, and before long, the glory of the Word would be revealed in that situation. The glory of the Word is “excellent glory”; it repels darkness. Hallelujah! That’s the glory that’s revealed as you pray in the Spirit, speaking God’s Word. Sometimes, while you’re yet affirming the Word, you could literally relate with success, victory and dominion in your spirit. That’s because they’re inherent in your spirit, and by speaking the Word, you cause them to manifest.

If you’d let the Word, which is all-powerful, quick and sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12), gain the mastery in your life, you’ll live an extraordinary life. You’d be indomitable, triumphing over circumstances. Have a mindset of the Word; have the Word as your focus! That way, your whole life will be in sync with the perfect will of God for you.

PRAYER

I experience the glory of God in my ministry, health, job, family and finances, because the Word is my life, piloting me from glory to glory. My mind is renewed and inundated with thoughts of righteousness, progress, possibilities, victory, excellence, success, and abundance, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Proverbs 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so [is] he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart [is] not with thee.

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things.

Hebrews 4:12 AMPC For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.

Atiku Is Free To Campaign At Sani Abacha Stadium - Kano Government

Kano state government has said the former Vice President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, is free to use Sani Abacha Stadium for his presidential campaign in the state.

The PDP presidential candidate is scheduled to be in Kano on the 10th of February for his political rally, but Kano state government ordered for the closure of the venue of the rally over alleged total renovation of the facility.

Confirming the development, the state’s Commissioner of Information, Malam Muhammad Garba said the state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has ordered contractor handling renovation works at the stadium to immediately demobilize to pave way for Atiku’s campaign to hold.

Garba, however, indicated that the directive does not affect ongoing overhaul of the Indoor Sports Complex.
The contractor has been directed to remove all machineries from the precinct of the stadium till after the campaign rally, while the state darling team, Kano Pillars has been directed to use the Pillars Stadium, Sabon Gari for its training sessions.

“The general renovation of the stadium aimed at giving the stadium a face-lift included the installation of the new scoreboard, the running track and provision of sources for steady water supply to all parts of the stadium,” he said.

Garba said prior to the closure of the stadium, the PDP had slated February 2 for the rally, which informed government decision to mobilize the contractor only for the party to fix another date for the campaign rally when the contractor had already moved to site.

“As a democrat who believes in freedom of association, the governor did not ordered the closure of the stadium to frustrate the campaign rally of the PDP. The stadium only closed for the intended renovation works,’’ he said.

Also commenting on the issue, the Executive Chairman, Kano State Sports Commission, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, said the closure of the stadium was far from politics.

He said, “To be honest, the closure of the stadium was far from politics but because we are in the era of politics people, turned it to be political. What happened was that the contract for the renovation of the stadium was awarded by the state government months ago and work has started at the indoor section of the stadium.
“Therefore, after the visit of the wife of the President, Hajiya Aisha Buhari and the recent visit of President Muhammadu Buhari, we realised that many facilities have been vandalised, hence the decision to commence the renovation work.”

''I blame the devil'' - Security guard apprehended for attempting to rape a prophetess in Ondo says

A 39-year-old security guard, Longbab Bouguen, has been arrested by men of the Ondo state police command for assault and attempting to rape a prophetess (name withheld) at the Agbogbo area of Akure, the state capital.
Parading the suspect before newsmen, the spokesperson of the command, Femi Joseph, said Boughen with an alleged accomplice, Daniel John, had ambushed the victim while she was returning home on the day of the attack at about 8pm, stole her money and then raped her.

Quote:“One prophetess of the Celestial Church of Christ located in the Agbogbo area, along the Akure/Owo Expressway, reported that a security guard, Longbab Bouguen, suddenly dragged her to a secluded area and forcefully tore her pants in order to have sexual intercourse with her.
The suspect threatened the victim by brandishing a cutlass and knife, while putting on dark eye glasses and also dispossessed her of the sum of N700, which he consequently shared with a fellow security guard, Daniel John.”
Speaking to newsmen, the victim said
Quote:“I discovered that he was following me when I was going to the church and suddenly he grabbed me from the back and dragged me to one corner. I struggled with him but he overpowered me and showed me a knife, threatening to kill me if I shouted.  I didn’t want him to stab me because there was nobody around to rescue me. As he was struggling with me, he tore my clothes and my pants; I didn’t allow him to penetrate so he ejaculated on my body. Thereafter, he collected the money on me before allowing me to go''.
When interrogated, the suspect blamed the devil for influencing him to commit the crime
Quote:“Though I attacked her and tore her clothes and pants, I had not penetrated her before I ejaculated on her body. I allowed the woman to go after collecting the sum of N700 on her'' he said
According to the police, the suspect and his accomplice will be charged to court soon.

Assets in CBN’s National Collateral Registry Hits N1.561tn
Thursday, February 07, 2019 BUSINESS
                          [Image: f286f742-cbn-office-696x522.jpg]
A cumulative of 154,827 micro, small and medium scale enterprises (MSMEs) have used movable assets valued at N1.561 trillion to obtain loans from financial institutions since the National Collateral Register (NCR) was passed into law, Akelicious’s investigation has revealed.

The latest NCR report obtained by Akelicious showed that a breakdown of the amount recorded between January 1, 2017 and December 19, 2018, put the value of the assets at N1.209 trillion; $1,142, 389,799.12 (N349,571,278,530.72) and €6,080,004.36 (N2,121,921,521.64).

In pursuant of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) mandate on sustainable economic inclusive growth and financial inclusion, the apex bank in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) had established the NCR.

The NCR is a financial infrastructure that seeks to deepen credit delivery to MSMEs through enhanced acceptability of movable assets – equipment, machinery, vehicles, Keke – NAPEP, crops, livestock, account receivables, inventories, and jewelry – as collateral for loans by financial institutions.

It is a registry where security interests in moveable assets are registered after being used as collateral to obtain facilities from financial institutions.

NCR allows lenders to assess their priority interest in potential claims against particular collateral.

The objective, it was learnt, is to enhance financial inclusion in Nigeria, stimulate responsible lending to MSMEs, facilitate access to credit secured with movable assets, perfect security interests in movable assets, facilitate realisation of security interests in movable asset.

The key deliverable of the registry is to promote the acceptance of movable asset as collaterals for loans and contribute to economic growth and development of the country.

It was signed into law in 2017 by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, during the period he acted as president.

Continuing, the report revealed that of the 154,827 MSMEs that used their movable assets to obtain loans from financial institutions, 22,251 were female-owned MSMEs.

It said, “Considerable number of borrowers secured credit from financial institutions in 2018 using their movable assets as collateral. The high number of borrowers that secured credit in 2017 is attributable to the high participation of smallholder farmers under the CBN Anchor Borrower’s Programme using cross-guarantee as collateral.

“During the year under review, there was an upsurge of lending using movable assets as collateral. This is attributable to the increase in the number of microfinance banks on the NCR portal as well as increased participation of deposit money banks and non-bank financial institutions. Out of the total amount of N1,209,381,006,933. 90, a sum of N43,618,262,792.17 went to female MSMEs.”

In addition, the report showed that a cumulative of 16,349 searches were conducted by both financial institutions and the public on the NCR portal.

Also, there was an upsurge of searches conducted by financial institutions in 2018 due to their increased participation in the movable asset lending regime and continuous sensitisation to the users to ensure they conduct searches to determine the level of encumbrances before undertaking any financial transaction.

Commenting on the milestone recorded in 2018, the report pointed out that during the year, 411 microfinance banks registered on the NCR portal as a result of intensive sensitisation campaign on the operations of the register carried out across the six geo-political zones of the country as well as other collaborative strategic enlightenment programmes.

“During the period under review, the number of financial institutions that registered on the National Collateral Registry portal increased by 343 per cent, when compared with the 2017 figure which was 103 financial institutions. This was the result of the various aggressive education and awareness campaign on secured transactions in moveable assets conducted under the National Action Plan.

“Also, during the period under review, the number of registered financial institutions that registered financing statements on the NCR portal increased by 89 per cent when compared with the 2017 figure which was 36 financial institutions. This was the result of the various aggressive education and awareness campaign on secured transactions in moveable assets conducted under the National Action Plan,” it stated.

Some of the challenges faced included paucity of funds for sensitising the judiciary and Nigeria police on the legal implications of the STMA Act, 2017; the need for a driver to move NCR staff to strategic meetings and answer to financial institutions complaints where necessary considering the present location of the office; and low usage of the Collateral Registry System especially bank and reluctance of financial service providers to appreciate the benefits of Asset-Based Lending, among others.

APC Has No Candidates in Rivers State, INEC Insists
Thursday, February 07, 2019 politics

There is no reprieve for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has insisted that it has not reversed its decision that the party has no candidates in the impending general election in the state.

INEC’s declaration coincided with another decision Wednesday by the same Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt granting stay of execution on the judgment of the Federal High Court barring the commission from listing candidates of the APC in the state on the ballot in the coming general election.

This came as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appealed to INEC for extension of time by three days for collection of Permanent Voters Card (PVCs).

The Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt had on Monday ordered a stay of execution of the Federal High Court’s ruling, which barred the APC from fielding candidates in the forthcoming general election in Rivers State.

Following the appeal filed by the APC in the state for stay of execution of the judgment of the Federal High Court delivered by Justice Kolawole Omotosho, the appeal court granted one of its prayers: stay of execution of the judgment.

In his ruling, Justice Mohammed Mustapha stated that all parties affected by Justice Omotosho’s judgment have appealed it, saying it would be unjust not to grant the application to stay execution of the ruling.

However, addressing journalists at an interactive session yesterday in Abuja, the INEC National Commissioner in charge of Voter Education and Publicity, Mr. Festus Okoye, said the electoral body had taken decisions on Rivers State APC.

According to him, “What the commission has done is that it has taken a position in relation to the issue of Rivers. If anything changes we will meet as a commission and also take a decision.

‘’But we have taken a decision relating to the issue of Rivers and if anything changes before we take our final decision, the commission will meet and also take a decision; but we have not taken any other decision and we have not repealed our position on the issue of Rivers.”

While commenting on the INEC office that was burnt in Abia State, Okoye said the commission expected Nigerians to be more outraged with what happened in the state.

He stressed that the commission would not be intimidated with the kind of “heartless act’’ rather it would be motivated to do what is right.

Also, the commission said that while it had signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with transport unions for the movement of electoral materials on Election Day, it would not enter into agreement with any transport unions with leadership crisis.

The commission added that simultaneous accreditation and voting adopted by the commission and kicked against by opposition political parties, was meant for the Nigerian people, saying that they are happy about it.

He noted that with 73 political parties on the ballot, it was inoperative that the continuous accreditation and voting is adopted.

Okoye also revealed that different zonal stores, states and local government offices of the commission are presently taking deliveryº of non-sensitive materials for the conduct of the elections, while the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is taking delivery of sensitive materials.

Buhari to PDP, EU: El-Rufai spoke in national interest
Thursday, February 07, 2019 politics

KADUNA State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has stirred the hornet’s nest, with his warning that foreigners should not interfere in the conduct of the general elections.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday threatened to pull out of the peace accord it signed with other parties before the National Peace Committee (NPC) chaired by former Head of State Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar.

The opposition party hinged its decision on the “death threats” issued by the governor, according to it, to officials of the United States (U.S.), United Kingdom (U.K.) and the European Union (E.U.).

But the Presidency dismissed it all as a storm in a tea cup. “There is nothing more to sneeze at”, it said.

Besides, the governor denied calling for violence.

Also yesterday, the EU Election Observer Mission (EOM) said its men were in Nigeria on the invitation of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and that they will remain in the country to monitor the elections billed for February 16 (presidential/National) and March 2 (governorship/state Assembly).

Speaking on an NTA live programme El-Rufai was reported to have threatened the foreign nationals who might interfere with Nigeria’s upcoming elections with violent attacks.

“Those that are calling for anyone to come and intervene in Nigeria, we are waiting for the person that would come and intervene, they would go back in body bags,” he was quoted as saying.

The governor, however, explained himself yesterday, insisting that his comments were not in any way calls for violence, but a defence of Nigeria’s sovereignty.

El-Rufai said he merely stood up for Nigeria’s dignity as against those who would traduce their country and reduce it to a colony in their vain quest for power.

In a statement last night, the Presidency said: “The Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari would cooperate with election observers and would not let the international community down in the conduct of the coming elections.

“The Presidency assures Nigerians and the international community that the President would do everything within his power to ensure free, fair and credible elections in the country.

“We have taken note of the clarification to a reported earlier statement by the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufa’i concerning opposition call for foreign interference in our domestic affairs and to say that latest statement by him should rest the issue for good. There is nothing more to sneeze at. The Governor spoke strongly in defense of of national interest. It is clear that El-Rufa’i, our party the APC and all its candidates have reposed their faith in democracy through general elections. They are all of the view that there is no place for violence against local people or foreign citizens in our midst.

“Opposition PDP ought to own up to the mistakes of their own policies for 16 years which have led the country to a sorry pass that has cost lives, jobs and growth instead of dwelling on diversionary issues.”

The PDP’s threat was issued at a news conference in Abuja. Its spokesman Kola Ologbondiyan described El-Rufai’s comments as inimical to peaceful, free and fair elections.

He said: “The PDP is left with no option than to consider a review of its signatory in the National Peace Accord, if no action is immediately taken to curb this trend.”

But a pro-Buhari group, the Buhari Media Organisation (BMO), said neither the PDP nor its presidential candidate, was genuinely committed to any peace deal.

According to the BMO, PDP’s presidential candidate signed the peace accord reluctantly.

The main opposition party called on the international community to immediately impose a travel ban on El-Rufai for what it described as the inciting comments against peaceful elections.

Ologbodiyan also called on the Gen. Abdulsalami to summon El-Rufai on the threat.

He said: “The PDP holds that any situation that seeks to allow the APC to abuse the tenets of the accord will definitely force our party to review our signatory to the peace process.

“We therefore call on the NPC to immediately summon El-Rufai on his inflammatory remarks against peaceful election in our country.

“In that regard, we might have no option left than to allow our members to defend their votes with whatever that is available to them.

“This country belongs to all of us and no individual or group, no matter how highly placed, can subjugate other citizens, or seek to appropriate any sort of absolutism to himself.”

The PDP also kicked against what it described as an alleged plot by the police authority to redeploy Kayode Egbetokun as Commissioner of Police to the Kwara State Command.

The opposition party alleged closeness of Egbetokun to a section of the leadership of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).

This, according to the PDP, might lead to Egbetokun taking sides in the ongoing supremacy tussle between the PDP and the APC chapters in Kwara State.

Ologbondiyan said: “This is in line with plans by the Buhari Presidency and the APC to effect a mass deployment of top security officers, particularly the police, to intimidate, harass and manhandle Nigerians that will not support the self-succession bid of President Muhammadu Buhari as well as aiding APC thugs to snatch ballot boxes and orchestrate violence in the elections.

“Nigerians are aware of how CP Kayode Egbetokun was posted to Lagos State by the former Inspector-General of Police, Idris Ibrahim, to serve the same partisan interest and how that posting was stopped by the new IGP Adamu Mohammed. Now, he is being redeployed to Kwara State for the same ignoble plot.

“It is necessary to state that the PDP is a party of peace and we are committed to the peace accord. However, the deployment of Kayode Egbetokun as Kwara CP directly negates the principle of the Peace Accord and can only hurt the fragile peace that currently exists in Kwara state.

“We wish to remind the acting Inspector General, Adamu Mohammed, that his acceptability among Nigerians across party line was based on the pedigree, which was presented to Nigerians before his appointment.

“These pedigree and exposure place on his shoulders, the responsibility to be just, firm, equitable and professional in the discharge of his duties. We therefore urge him not to allow his reputation to be mired in controversial political activities.”

The party called on the National Peace Committee to note the alleged infractions by the APC and its leaders to the peace accord.

South East PDP Governors Re-consider The Buhari Option

Concerns over the commitment of the Southeast governors to the PDP presidential candidate had in recent times emerged.

President Muhammadu Buhari

Alleged plans by the All Progressives Congress, APC to break the ranks of Southeast governors belonging to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP may have derailed.

The governors have been severally alleged to have struck a deal to enable President Muhammadu Buhari get at least 25% of the votes in their states in quid pro quo for their own easy re-election.

Concerns over the commitment of the Southeast governors to the PDP presidential candidate had in recent times emerged upon the open affinity of the governors to President Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Three of the Southeast governors belong to the PDP, the exceptions being Governors Rochas Okorocha of Imo State who belongs to the APC and Willie Obiano of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA.

All three PDP governors in the region, Dave Umahi, Ebonyi; Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Enugu and Okezie Ikpeazu, Abia are all running for a second term.
Gov. Umahi had in particular been openly supportive of Buhari’s second term and was only last week endorsed by traditional rulers in the state who at the same time endorsed Buhari.

However, very reliable sources told Vanguard that the “wool was pulled of the eyes” of the governor at a confidential meeting involving all three governors, Atiku and Senate President Bukola Saraki.

The meeting which took place in Enugu according to sources was facilitated by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu.

“Some of the governors had been led to believe that giving Buhari 25% of the votes would not do them any harm but that meeting opened their eyes to the danger of that,” a source at the meeting disclosed.

“They were made to realise that they were all in the first term and that after helping the president that the president would turn around to push APC governorship candidates to throw them out and don’t forget that the governorship election comes after the presidential.”

Atiku who was present reminded them of the 2003 scenario in which the PDP swept all but one of the five Alliance for Democracy, AD governors from power. The exception was Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in Lagos who was allegedly tipped of by Atiku.

Gov. Umahi who is from Ohazara in the Southern Senatorial District had been especially touted as a collaborator with the Buhari Campaign following from their links in the former All Nigeria People’s Party, ANPP.

Sources, however, disclosed that the governor may have reconsidered upon the ethnic dimensions in the state. The governor is from Uburu in Ohazara Local Government Area, one of the smaller communities in the state.

Edo high chief explains why witches are not killed in Benin kingdom

A high chief in Edo state, Chief David Edebiri who is the Esogban of Benin Kingdom and the Odionwere (Head) of witches and wizards in Edo state, has given reasons why self confesed witches and wizards in Benin kingdom are not killed.

Edebiri in a chat with members of the African Bar Association who paid him a courtesy call today, said any witch or wizard that confesses in the Benin kingdom, is treated with uttermost respect and is rehabilitated back into the society after undergoing certain processes. Edebiri said the powers to deal with witches and wizards in the kingdom was given to him by the Oba of Benin.

Quote:“Witches and wizards are my subjects. We deal with them in a decent way. There is no magical process in it. Once anybody confessed to be a witch, we send them to a home and a Chief is given the powers to disposes them. We take them through certain processes and they will become ineffective. They will go back to the society better persons.” he told the visiting lawyers.

Landlady’s son on the run after raping tenant’s daughter, 5, through the anus and vagina

A young man is currently on the run after raping a 5-year-old girl through the anus and vagina.
The man, who is the son of the landlady, raped the daughter of a tenant at No. 47 Erede Street, Ekerube in Abaranje, Ikotun, Lagos.
The man lured the victim into his apartment, pulled her underwear and penetrated her both through her private and anus. He then warned the girl not to tell her parents or he will kill her.
His evil action was discovered when the girl's mother was bathing her and the girl wouldn't allow her to touch her private part due to pains. Her private part was then checked and it was discovered that she had been abused. It was also discovered that she had been penetrated via the anus too.
Following this discovery, the girl was questioned and she opened up then added that the landlady's son told her not to tell anyone, else she will be killed.
The matter was reported to the police but the suspect cannot be found as he has abandoned their house and gone into hiding.
To make matters worse, the landlady and her children have allegedly threatened the victim's parents, telling them that they have to bear what the suspect did to their daughter because they live in her property.
The father of victim told PM Express that since the incident happened, his life and that of his family have been threatened and they have had to flee from their house for safety.
Police at the Ikotun Police Station confirmed that the incident of rape and threat to life has been reported by the father of the victim. A police source told the publication that the suspect has gone into hiding and the police were making efforts to arrest and prosecute him.

Jubilation As Saraki’s N5m To Ailing Actors Is Disbursed

Just as he promised, the national president, Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) Mr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas has begun to make good his promise of judiciously using the N5m donated by the senate president, Dr. Bukola Saraki to the Actors Guild Foundation (AGF) for ailing actors.
Some of the beneficiaries that have been given temporary relief are excited and thankful to the senate president for the gesture. Some of them include veteran actress, Mrs.Patience Oseni; Mr.Tunde Alabi; Mr.Stanley Okoronkwo; Mr. Haruna Mohammed and Mrs. Obiageli Molobe.

Oseni who spoke through her daughter, Dr, Mrs Augusta Akomolafe has this to say: I am very garetful. I commend all the actors for their contributions towards my mother’s health. At the moment she cannot walk but we are hopeful that she would be fine. She had a stroke and as a result, I had to drop out of my priofession to help her.
I thank Emeka Rollas for this kindness, may God continue to bless them.”

Tunde Alabi
“I really appreaciate Emeka Rollas and his group; they are not basing their gesture on tribal sentiments. It is across board and I thank him for that. Chief Chika Okpala (Zebrudaya) came all the way from Enugu to visit me and gave me cash gift. But what the generalty sent did not get to me because of a member’s death in Lagos. I am yet to hear from them. My sickness is not natural. I was attacked spiritually by a fellow artist, an old man at the NCCAC because of a soap opera, ‘Palace,’ which is back on air. In all I thank God.”

Mr. Haruna Mohammed Umar
“It was tremendous. I have been trying to reach Emeka Rollas but network has not helped matters. They have really tried and I am grateful. I am waiting for the doctor’s response. They say I should return on Tuesday for check up.

My problem began when somebody mistakenly gave me caustic soda instead of water to drink and as I try to vomit it out, another person gave me water, the reaction became so bad that I had to be operated on. I can hardly drink water and eat but I am optimistic that when I see the doctor on Tuesday, I will get better. I remain grateful to the actors guild.”

Mrs.Obiageli Molobe
“I am very grateful I give God the glory. In 2016, I was struck with stroke. I stayed three months in hospital in Lagos. I was admitted on September 14th and discharged in the first week of December. I had to stay with my son in Agege. On December 29, I travelled to the east. I had to learn how to walk like a baby again. It was not easy.

In May 2018 I returned to Lagos and on December 2nd, I gave a thanksgiving. Though, now I can walk but it seems I am carryin g a big load but I cannot still cross the road. I thank Emeka for this kind gesture and I pray God to continue to bless him and his team.”

While thanking the senate president for his kindness, Chairman of the foundation, Mr. Segun Arinze said: “ The whole essence of the foundation is caring for one another. It will not only be beneficial to the older generations but also for the present ones. Because of their incapacitation, they are unable to work and since they cannot work, they cannot pay dues that would help them when the need arise. This is a better initiative than going cap in hand begging for assistance whenever they fall ill. This gesture by the senate president will go a long way in helping a lot of them that are incapacitated. I thank the senate president again and I encourage other good spirited Nigerians to follow in His Excellency’s footsteps. It is a great kindness to the Nollywood family and we appreciate it.”

While also appealing to other good spitrited Nigerians, corporate bodies and well wishers to support the foundation, National President of the guild, Mr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas has assured
that the gesture would go round and the actors who have been bringing happiness serenading television screens would be up and about doing what they know how to do best.

Chris Oyakhilome: Don't Vote Candidate With No Knowledge Of Business Or Economy
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 02-06-2019, 09:34 PM - No Replies

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome Speaks about Why and whom to VOTE for in 2019 ELECTIONS.

... I want to say this to you, and it's very important. Don't be guided by ETHNIC influences. Be wise! The elections have something to do with your LIFE & your Future.

...sometimes people are excited about those they want to bring into office. I don't know whether they ask themselves the most important question. - Are you going to be happy in 4 years time? Do you like a candidate because he is likable? Or do you want a Candidate because he or his running mate is from your area of the country?

...they are together because of their ethnic origin, but then they decided they are backing a particular party. Its like Hausa's would support this candidate, the Igbo's would support this candidate. Christian's DON'T THINK LIKE THAT!

....when it comes to elections, the first thing you think about is about the Gospel of JESUS CHRIST. What would happen to it? Because it is in your hands. Your decision would affect the Gospel. That's the first thing that should come to your mind. - Seek ye first the kingdom of God and its righteousness. That's priority.

Now, I don't in this way mean at all that the candidate that is born again is the right candidate. My knowledge of history have shown me that the Church have suffered most in the hands of supposedly Christians...

...but the guy that generally had the fear of God, and didn't know anything about being born again, he feared God more and was afraid to do anything against the CHURCH.
But when you have a born again, he was the one that started a regulation against the church. They went into office to do something against the Church, like the church was the problem.

DON'T USE THE CANDIDACY OF A BORN AGAIN TO MAKE A DECISION. Not at all!

You need a government that understands how to make the economy grow. Because when you elect people into office they are responsible for managing our corporate wealth.

ANYBODY WHO HAS NEVER RUN A BUSINESS SUCCESSFULLY, WHO HAS NEVER LEAD PEOPLE SUCCESSFULLY cannot lead a nation successfully.

You cannot expect someone who has never manage the economy of an organization to manage the economy of a Nation. It is foolishness to think so.

All the candidates have records...don't use records of what other people said about them. Use records of what the country was like...

3Febuary2019

Benue: Over 1,000 Police Deployed For Buhari’s Visit Tomorrow
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 02-06-2019, 09:20 PM - No Replies

Over 1,000 policemen have been deployed to ensure adequate security as President Muhammadu Buhari presidential campaign train berths in Makurdi, Benue State tomorrow.

The state Commissioner of Police, Omololu Bishi, made this known on Tuesday at a press briefing in Makurdi.

“Over 1,000 policemen are being deployed. All areas will be covered. We may inconvenience members of the public by closing down some commercial areas for that day (Wednesday) in order to have a peaceful rally,” he said.

Bishi added that every measure necessary had been already put in place even as the police would be strategising with other sister agencies to receive the president in Benue state.

The commissioner posited that there would be no other political party rally holding tomorrow in Makurdi except that of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

El-Rufai "Foreigners Body Bags": Dele Momodu, Fani-Kayode, Reno Omokri React

Fani Kayode tweets
You are planning to rig the election and you know that the only way you can possibly "win" is by announcing fake results. You threaten foreigners that any of them that interferes with ur rigging plans will go home in body bags. You are playing with fire and it will consumme you!

Dele Momodu tweets
I PRAY MY DEAR BROTHER NASIR EL RUFAI WILL WITHDRAWAL THAT UNFORTUNATE THREAT... I'M HIS FAN...
Nigerian Governor, El-Rufai, Threatens murder of Foreign Officials over upcoming elections..

Shehu Sani
The threat to kill foreigners who ‘interfere’ in Nigeria’s elections is a condemnable act. Nigerians & the Intl community must take this seriously.D sources & plots of violence is now clear. While our mind is set on ballot boxes & votes, their’s is set on bulets, bodybags & coffins.

Reno Omokri Tweets
Today, I woke up in shock to watch a television interview by Mallam Nasir
El-rufai, the Governor of Kaduna State, on the Nigerian Television Authority where he threatened Nigeria’s friends with death if they intervened in Nigeria to save democracy.
El-rufai’s exact words were “we are waiting for the person that will come and intervene, they will go back in body bags.” Shocking as his words may be, this is vintage El-Rufai, a man who talks carelessly, especially when he is off his medications.
I first encountered El-rufai in 2009 when he was in exile in the United States and the next year, 2010, he appealed to me to help him write a letter to foreign governments, calling on them to INTERVENE in Nigeria (the very thing he speaks against now).

El-rufai’s latest incidence of hypocrisy is the most recent in a long line of hypocritical actions by a man who has no morals and acts without conscience. Permit me to give a few instances of his previous acts of hypocrisy;

On October 1, 2015, Nasir El-rufai falsely alleged that former President Jonathan spent a whopping 64 billion naira on Independence Day celebrations, during his tenure when in fact only 333 million naira was spent. He was exposed as a liar by then SGF Babachir.
After he was exposed as a liar by Babachir, Nasir El-rufai neither apologised nor showed any remorse. It must be stated that it was the Secretary of the Government of the Federation under the Muhammadu Buhari Government that exposed El-Rufai’s lies.

Nigerians may also recall that on September 10, 2014, this same El-rufai falsely accused former President Jonathan and former CAN President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor of founding and funding Boko Haram to the tune of N50 billion.

El-rufai, who is notorious for spreading falsehood, engineered the arrest and prosecution of one Audu Maikori, who erroneously tweeted about some killings in Kaduna that had not happened and almost immediately apologised after he learnt of his error.

El-rufai’s former boss, Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, who brought him to the limelight, had this to say about Nasir El-Rufai in his book: My Watch Volume 2 as follows:

“Nasir’s penchant for reputation savaging is almost pathological”
Continuing, Obasanjo said “I heard of how El-rufai ruthlessly savaged the reputation of his uncle, a man who was like his foster father. I shudder when I heard the story of what he did to his half-brother in the Air Force who is senior to him in age.”

Given such an evaluation, the international community is advised to treat El-rufai with the contempt he deserves. This is a man who boasted that he paid public funds to marauders who killed his own people, because he shares ethnic affinity with them.

Let me, Reno Omokri, as a Nigerian citizen, apologise to all friends of Nigeria, who have been threatened by this reckless fellow. Your friendship with Nigeria is appreciated and the flippant El-rufai DOES NOT speak for us in any capacity at all.

El-rufai’s views are his private views and they cannot bind Nigeria’s armed forces, nor mislead them to fight our international friends. El-Rufai has caused enough deaths in Kaduna. He should take his body bags there.

Finally, I urge El-rufai, to rather urge
President Buhari to stop releasing ‘repentant’ Boko Haram members and use the body bags he referred to on them instead. He should remember that when he and Buhari are sick, they rush to these same people he threatened.

Aisha Yesufu tweets
Also weighing in, Aisha Yesufu, co-convener of the BringBackOurGirls, BBOG, advoacy group warned El-Rufai, adding that body bags already exist in APC government.

Aisha, on her Twitter page, wrote: “Dear Governor Nasir El Rufai, just so you know, nobody has the monopoly of violence! You keep waving violence at us as if you alone own it. You don’t!

“Body bags we already are used to in APC government! Zamfara bled yesterday. They have been bleeding. We all have bled!”

Paschal Chinazor Onyilo Mobbed To Death After Being Labelled A Kidnapper. Photos
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 02-06-2019, 09:16 PM - No Replies

A man met his untimely end at the hands of angry villagers in Umuoji area of Anambra state. The deceased identified as Paschal Chinazor Onyilo, who was a sound/music operator and even worked for the Anambra government, was alleged to be a kidnapper and was beaten to pulp before he finally gave up the ghost.

It was gathered that last week, Paschal Onyilo, a native of Abatete in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State, was driving to Obosi area to set up his sound equipment for an event.

However on getting to Umuoji, some school children threw stones at his vehicle and caused some damage. He then alighted from the vehicle to accost the kids over the damage. All of them ran away except one boy who was caught by Paschal.

It was learnt that Paschal held the boy and requested that he should take him to his parents as he drove him in his car. Meanwhile the other children who had escaped - raised an alarm that a certain man had ‘kidnapped’ one of them.

The villagers quickly mobilized themselves, came back and confronted Paschal. They didn’t give him a chance to explain himself and pounced on him immediately beating mercilessly. His car was also set on fire before he was rescued by the police.

The villagers who saw some political stickers in his car - accused him of being a kidnapper who works for politicians in the state and was looking for children to use for rituals.

By the time help came, Paschal was already unconscious and he was taken to Iyi-Enu Hospital, Ogidi. He did survive an emergency surgery and was able to narrate what happened to the police and others that visited him in hospital.

Unfortunately, Paschal gave up the ghost days later from the injuries sustained from the mob action.

Don’t Come To My Office If APC Loses In Ondo – Amaechi Threatens Electorate
[Image: amaechi_rotimi_talks.jpg]
The Director General of the Buhari/Osinbajo Campaign Council, Rotimi Ameachi, has challenged the Ondo State electorate that the February 16 presidential election is a must win in the state, else his door would be shut against any request from them if results at poll turned out otherwise.

Ameachi, a former governor of Rivers State, who gave the warning on Tuesday in Akure, the Ondo State capital at the campaign rally of President Muhammadu Buhari, emphasized that the people of Ondo State should avoid the consequences currently being faced by the people of Rivers State on the failure to vote in the APC in 2015.

The Minister of Transportation further urged the Ondo State electorate to avoid being swayed by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as the APC was set to ensure that they get all the benefits they deserve as a state.

“If we lose this election in this state (Ondo State), anybody from Ondo State must not come to my office. You can imagine my state, Rivers what they are losing for not being APC.

“You cannot trust PDP, when they designed their railway project, they never included Ondo State but with Buhari coming on board he directed that Akure, the state capital must be included.

“There’s no money to be shared again like in the days of the PDP, what we are doing is to ensure that there is infrastructure across the country as well as employment for all.”

Also, at the rally, which attracted the governors of Ekiti, Osun and Edo States, the host governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, assured that the state did not disappoint Buhari in 2015 and will not do such on 16 February, but to ensure a wider margin at the polls.

“All of us in the South West are one, we are all for APC, we are for Buhari.

“When we were not in government APC won in 2015, but now that we are in government in Ondo, it is paramount for us to let the margin to be wider.

“We assure Mr. President that we have already delivered our votes, you will win handsomely here, that is a fact,” Akeredolu boasted.

I am Very Sorry Nigerians, I Was Scammed To Run For Presidency - Oby Ezekwesili
[Image: oby_ezekwesili_new.jpg]
According to her, she fell for the ‘tricks’ of the ACPN leadership when they approached her to run for presidency on their platform.

“We held several meetings before I chose to run on the ACPN platform, and in each of those meetings, I was clear to all that if the target was the same transactional money-grabbing politics that has held us back, I would never go along with it. My public stance that the nomination form for Presidency should not be above N100,000 was acceded to by the Party while they pressed me to join their fold.

“At one point, we were supposed to have a meeting with all the state coordinators of the party. Instead of the ACPN leadership to be honest about the strengths of the party and explain that some states did not have coordinators at the time, they hired fake coordinators, and asked the campaign to fly them into Abuja. .
You all saw how they demonstrated their preferred brand of politics last week by endorsing the ruling APC in a classic summersault. Deceptive politics of transactions at its worst! “Their actions last week did not surprise me one bit. .
My relationship with the ACPN became problematic once they faced the reality of my modest financial means that I had transparently disclosed to them from the beginning. Their mistake was that they harbored two wrong assumptions about me.

“Immediately I expressed my options in those clear terms, the choice was easy. I cannot do anything that contradicts my eternal values. For someone who was running for office with a promise to fix our politics, getting mired in the mud of transactional anti-people politics would have represented a quick fall. God forbid! I had to live my values; I had to follow my truth. And I am proud I did.

Operatives of the Enugu State police command have arrested a notorious kidnapping ring that specialized in abducting children from schools located in the six local government councils in Enugu east senatorial zone and whisking them to neighbouring states for sale.
According to reports, the ladies identified as Nkeiruka Odo from Imilike Agu village in Udenu council area of Enugu State and Precious Chukwuemeka Chineneye from Aguleri, Anambra State had been terrorizing residents with their nefarious attitude.
The ladies were said to have enticed children with dresses, Biscuits, Chin-Chin, and Candies among others.
Last month the kidnappers had abducted a little boy identified as Ugwu Levi Chiagozie from a Nursery school located in Imilike Ani, Udenu and whisked him away to Anambra State where they had sold him to a nurse.
They met their waterloo on Monday after they were arrested when they attempted to abduct a child at a certain Primary school located at Imilike Ani, Udenu area.
Ebere Amaraizu, Police Public Relations Officer in Enugu State, confirmed the development and stated that the arrest followed intelligence received on the activities of the syndicate.“Following their arrest, suspects had revealed how they carried out abduction of a 4-year old school boy identified as one Ugwu Levi Chiagozie from another Nusery/Primary school also located at Imilike Ani in Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State last month, which they handed over to a nurse in Anambra State for sale.

Lawyers give Edo State Commisioner of police 24 hours to investigate insertion of pepper in lady’s private part over missing phone

A video of an unidentified lady being stripped naked by a group of people, who inserted pepper into her private parts for allegedly stealing a mobile phone in Benin City, went viral a few days ago and has since caused outrage on social media.
In the video, the lady was heard crying and denying she had stolen any phone, while she was being humiliated by the crowd who refused to show her mercy.
The League of Patriotic Lawyers has joined other groups who are seeking justice for the said lady. They have given Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olusegun Odumosu, 24 hours to unravel those behind the torture and insertion of pepper into the lady’s private part.
Chairman of the platform and former Student Union President of the University of Benin, Mr. Abubakar Yesufu, urged the state Director, Department of State Services, DSS, to be involved in the investigation.
In a statement on Tuesday, Yesufu said: “The League of Patriotic Lawyers has given the Edo State Commissioner of Police 24 hours to arrest and commence prosecution of all the street urchins behind this barbaric, inhuman, wicked, ungodly and unacceptable act, whose video has gone viral on the social media.
“Failure to unravel the perpetrators would lead to serious legal consequences against the various security agencies, especially the Police and Director of DSS in the state. This ungodly act shows that law and order have broken down in Benin. “We call on the governor, who is undoubtedly unaware of this devilish act, and the Secretary to the State Government, a very hard working and God-fearing man, to ensure that the perpetrators are tracked and punished accordingly.''
“We are not concerned about the merit of this case at this moment, but the exhibition of extreme cruelty which is completely alien to our revered culture and tradition.’’

*? HIS AWE-INSPIRING LIGHT ?*

*Wednesday, February 6th*

*PASTOR CHRIS*

*But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiarpeople; that ye should shew forth thepraises of him who hath called you outof darkness into his marvellous light (1Peter 2:9)*

The Bible lets us know that God is “Light” andthe “father of lights”; therefore, we’rechildren of Light, dwelling in the light. That’swhat we read in the latter part of our opening text above; we’ve been brought into God’s marvellous light;that’s your location in the realm of the spirit; you live inHis awe-inspiring light. Therefore, there’s no darknessabout your life.

It readily brings to mind the words of Jesus inJohn 8:12; He said, “…I am the light of the world: he thatfolloweth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall havethe light of life.” We have, and must walk in the samelight in which God dwells and functions. This meanswe’re to walk in His Word, for His Word is light (Psalm119:105). Walking in His light means your mindset andperceptions are a result of the Word; you view and liveyour life only from the perspective of the Word!

God’s Word should be the only light by which, and with which you see. Under that light, you see onlypossibilities and victories; you see the glory of God;and because you see it, you talk and walk accordingly. When you agree with what the Word says about you, and then affirm accordingly, you’re walking in God’slight. God gave you His Word to light up your path,so there wouldn’t be darkness or uncertainties as youjourney through life.

Colossians 1:12-13 says: “Giving thanks unto theFather, which hath made us meet to be partakers of theinheritance of the saints in light: Who hath deliveredus from the power of darkness, and hath translated usinto the kingdom of his dear Son.” You’ve been broughtout of darkness, and translated into the Kingdom ofGod’s love-Son, where there’s no darkness, sin, death, evil and corrupting influences of the world. You’ve been catapulted to the gracious and glorious liberty of thesons of God. See and live from that realm; it’s the realmof victory, dominion, peace and joy evermore.

             *PRAYER*

*Blessed be God! He brought me out of darkness, and the miry clay, and set my feet upon the Rockto stay; that Rock holds me firm and fortified againstthe pressures and adversities of life. I dwell in thelight wherein there’s no darkness or pain, but victory, dominion, and glory forever, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*

During the APC rally in Ekiti State today, President Buhari made another error when he said he assumed office in 2005 instead of 2015.

Reacting to the error, the immediate past governor of the state, Ayo Fayose said, 'a man could not even remember when he assumed office. He said in Ekiti today that he assumed office in 2005. Yet, they still want him to continue as President. Must they ruin Nigeria just to promote their personal interests? Why can't they just allow this man to go home and rest?

Finally, Governor Ambode presents N852.316bn budget for 2019 to State House of Assembly

Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode on Tuesday presented the year 2019 budget proposal of N852.316billion to the House of Assembly, with a pledge that it had been carefully prepared to be all-encompassing and dedicated to complete major ongoing projects in the State.

The Governor said N462.757billion representing 54 percent of the total budget size had been earmarked for capital expenditure, while N389.560billion representing 46 percent had been dedicated to recurrent expenditure, saying that key projects such as the Oshodi-Murtala Mohammed International Airport Road and Oshodi Interchange Terminal, among others would be completed.

He said from inception of his administration, nine key areas were given priority after careful assessment of the needs of the citizens, adding that such had informed the massive investment in the said sectors which he listed to include security, transport / traffic management, economy -including tourism and agriculture, housing, education, health, infrastructure - social and physical, water, wealth creation - skill acquisition/microfinance, e-Governance and enhanced capacity building, sustainable environment and smart city projects.

Giving details of what informed the budget size, Governor Ambode said the performance of Y2018 budget of N1.046trn as at November 2018 stood at 60 percent owing to reduction in revenue projections, while the total revenue stood at N530.192billion.

Quote:According to him, “In the outgoing year, however, we experienced a reduction in our revenue projections, which affected our projected performance and our desired implementation of the Y2018 Budget. The overall Budget performance as at November 2018 stood at 60 per cent/N574,206billion with actual cumulative total revenue of N530,192billion/64 per cent, Capital Expenditure closed at N311,930billion/49 per cent and Recurrent Expenditure performed at N262,276billion/82 per cent.
“In preparing the Year 2019 Budget, therefore, we were very mindful of the out-going year performance, the yearnings of our people and the fact that we are going into an election year. Consequently, we are today presenting a Budget that will be all-encompassing, reflect the level of resources that will be available and with special consideration to the completion of major on-going projects in the State.”
While outlining the key components of the Y2019 budget and the sectoral allocations, the Governor said with priority given to completion of major infrastructure projects and smooth transition to the next administration, the government was proposing a total budget size of ‘N852,316,936,483,’ including a deficit financing of N77.086billion which is expected to be sourced from internal loans and other sources.

He added: “The projected total revenue for Year 2019 is ?775.231billion, of which ?606.291billion is expected to be generated internally,?168.940billion is expected from Federal Transfers while a total of ?77.086billion will be sourced through deficit financing within our medium term expenditure framework.
“In 2019, as was with our previous budgets, Economic Affairs still dominates the sectoral allocation of the proposed budget. This is due to our continued focus on the completion of major on-going projects such as: Oshodi-Murtala Mohammed International Airport Road; Agege Pen Cinema Flyover; Phase II of Aradagun-Iworo -Epeme Road, Oshodi Interchange Terminal; completion of JK Randle Complex, Onikan Stadium; Imota Rice Mill; Renovation/Furnishing of Lagos Revenue House, amongst others in order to meet their specified deliverable outcomes without any bias or prejudice to others.”
Expressing optimism that the revenues of the State would improve in 2019, Governor Ambode said the government had begun consolidating on the already established public financial management and technology-driven revenue reforms through data integration and use of multi-payment channels, just as he said that every strata of the society would benefit from the budget.
“The Year 2019 Budget has been carefully planned to accommodate all and sundry; women, youth and physically challenged, young and old. We will continue to spread development to all part of our state even as we embark on effective transition knowing fully well that the implementation, failure or success of the Budget depend on all of us,” he said.
Governor Ambode commended the Speaker and members of the Assembly for the support accorded his administration in the last three and half years, while also acknowledging the role of Royal Fathers, Religious leaders, members of the Business Community, Professional Bodies, Development Partners, Non-Governmental Organisations, public servants and all residents as well as members of the fourth estate of the realm for their various support and contribution during the lifespan of his administration.
In his remarks, Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon Mudashiru Obasa expressed optimism that the budget would be of great benefit to the people of the State, just as he assured that the House would work with the executive to pass the budget.
