The current open market price for Premium Motor Spirit, popularly known as petrol is N163.68 per litre, the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency stated on Monday.[/color]

PPPRA stated on its website that the price of PMS as of November 15, 2019 was N163.68/litre, in contrast to the regulated pump price of N145/litre for which the commodity is sold at filling stations.

Increase in prices was recorded across all divisions of foods in month of October, Consumer Price Index (CPI) released yesterday by National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) revealed.

The CPI rose to 11.61 per cent (year-on-year) in October 2019, higher than September figure of 11.24 per cent, representing 0.36 percentage points higher than previous figure.

This was the exact inflation rate recorded in May 2018 when the country was recovering from the recession and high inflation rate.
On month-on-month basis, the headline index increased by 1.07 per cent in October 2019, or 0.03 percentage points higher than the rate recorded in September 2019 (1.04 per cent).
The percentage change in the average composite CPI for the 12-month period ending October 2019 over the average of the CPI for the previous 12-month period was 11.30 per cent, showing 0.03 percentage point increase from 11.27 per cent recorded in September 2019.

The urban inflation rate stood at 12.20 per cent (year-on-year) in October 2019 from 11.78 per cent recorded in September, while the rural inflation rate was recorded at 11.07 per cent in October from 10.77 per cent in September.
“On a month-on-month basis, the urban index rose by 1.15 per cent in October 2019, up by 0.02 percentage points from 1.13 per cent recorded in September 2019, while the rural index rose by 0.99 per cent in October 2019, up by 0.03 percentage points from the rate recorded in September 2019 (0.96 per cent),” NBS stated.
The corresponding 12-month year-on-year average percentage change for the urban index was 11.68 per cent in October 2019. This is higher than 11.63 per cent reported in September 2019, while the corresponding rural inflation rate in October was 10.95 percent compared to 10.94 per cent recorded in September 2019.

The scripture above is a popular song among Christians. The underlined portion says, “God is known in her palaces for a refuge.” In the citadels of Israel, God is known to grant refuge to His own. The citadels are strongholds of protection in times of war, but the people trust in the power of God, and not the high or thick walls, as their defence.

The Bible says, “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1 NKJV). The secret place of the Most High isn’t a building or temple built with hands; it’s Christ, and that’s where you live. He’s your protection. The Bible says your life is hid with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3), which means you have twenty-four-hour protection! It’s round the clock.

You’re protected in Him, because He’s become your citadel in which you live. Hallelujah!

The presence of God, and His light where you live, is a high place —far above all the evil and darkness in the world. Therefore, walk through life with boldness, knowing that no weapon fashioned against you shall prosper. You have God’s mighty protection. This was David’s confidence when he declared, “He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday” (Psalm 91:4-6).

Never find yourself apologetic, intimidated or reluctant to express your convictions about Christ and the message of the Gospel. Be mindful of your divine protection in Him. The Bible says, “As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever” (Psalm 125:2).

Nothing and no one should prevent or keep you from proclaiming Jesus as Lord, for He’s greater than any government, institution or mob. He rules and reigns over the universe! Glory to His Name forever!

World Tolerance Day: LASEPA seals religious centres over noise pollution

As Lagos State joined other countries of the world to commemorate the 2019 United Nations International Day of Tolerance, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, (LASEPA) embarked on a clampdown of some religious outlets comprising of mosques and churches across different areas of the State for causing noise pollution and disruption of peace within their vicinity.

Following the clampdown exercise of these religious outlets by LASEPA, the General Manager of the Agency, Dr. Dolapo Fasawe said there is no hiding place for any religious organisation that cannot operate within the ambit of the law, regardless of their faith inclinations.

She said that mutual respect of views, culture and religion, which the annual Tolerance Day celebration symbolises across the world, must be adhered to by all residents of the State, particularly religious organisations that should be the bastion of good conduct, tolerance, brotherliness and godly neighbourliness.

Fasawe assured residents that LASEPA will not rest on its oars in bequeathing a noiseless city to all inhabitants of the State, stressing that those recalcitrant organisations or worship centres, known to be disturbing the peace of Lagosians, will face the full wrath of the law.

She maintained that the government will not condone infringements on the rights of other residents of the State in the name of religious activities.

Recalling the inundating petitions and outcry from residents of the State over the insensitivity and intolerance of some religious outlets in different areas, the LASEPA boss regrettably noted that several warnings issued to the management of these churches and mosques had not yielded the expected result.

“The government recognises that the State thrives on peaceful co-existence among practitioners of the major religions across the State, but of great concern to the State Government is the need for religious activities to be conducted in a manner that worshippers and citizens would not infringe on each other’s rights”, the General Manager reiterated.

According to the LASEPA GM, the illegal and unauthorised conversion of residential property for religious use without recourse to the wellbeing of other residents and the State of the environment is of great concern to the present administration.

Speaking further, on the sealed worship centres, Dr. Fasawe explained that for the facilities to reopen, the leaders of these organisations must reach an agreement of compliance with the Agency and also satisfy other necessary conditions as may be prescribed by LASEPA.

The General Manager, however, warned ownership and management of any sealed property to desist from unsealing same without government approval to avoid severe sanctions.

Jailed Internet fraudster still coordinates operations from prison- EFCC






The EFCC, Lagos Zonal Office, has uncovered that Hope Olusegun Aroke, a convicted internet fraudster currently serving a 24-year jail term, is still in active communication with other high valued targets that are currently being investigated by the Commission for various offences relating to computer fraud and money laundering. .
 
A statement from the agency says investigation revealed that Hope masterminded the commission of internet scam worth over $100, 000, OOO (One hundred Million Dollars) whilst serving his jail term.

Kenyan military officer arrested for murder after bodies of his missing wife and two children were recovered in a shallow grave






An Air Force Major, Peter Mugure was arrested after detectives recovered the bodies of his estranged wife Joyce Syombua (31), children Shanice Maua (10) and Prince Michael (5) at a cemetery in Thingithu Estate in Nanyuki town,  near the Laikipia Air Base on Saturday, November 16. 
 
Syombua and the children disappeared on October 25 after visiting Major Mugure in Nanyuki.
 

 
Directorate of Criminal Investigations’ (DCI) Serious Crimes Unit which is leading the probe indicated the bodies had been pilled on top of each other inside a shallow grave.
 
The accused air force officer is said to have hosted the three at the Laikipia Air Base where they stayed before departing for Nairobi where they lived.
 

 
Pamba, a 21-year-old worker at the senior officer’s mess within the military base led detectives to the cemetery where the bodies of the three victims were exhumed.
 
Major Mugure was arrested on Friday, 20 days after his wife and children went missing and just a day before their bodies were discovered.

he air force officer had previously been ordered to pay maintenance costs for his two children after a DNA test to establish his paternity turned positive.
 
Mugure's colleagues said the soldier could have suffered depression after crashing a plane.
 

 
Mugure and his alleged accomplice Collins Pamba were arraigned for murder before Chief Magistrate Lucy Mutai on Monday, November 18.
 
They will be held in police custody for another 21 days pending the conclusion of a probe on the murder. The case will be mentioned on December 9.
 
A Nanyuki court allowed the prosecutions request after State Prosecutor Peter Mailanyi said he was not ready to prefer charges yet.

The Adamawa State Police command has arrested a kidnap gang behind the abduction of a businessman identified as Abubakar Basha. 
 
24-year-old Bello Abdullahi who was paraded alongside other members of his gang on Monday November 18, said he got N450,000 from the N20m they collected as ransom from the family of the businessman. He further revealed that he bought 10 cows for rearing in his village in Yobe state from his cut.

Woman battling throat cancer shoots herself and "good looking" husband dead






A 38-year-old woman Pilaiwan Khamdee, afflicted with throat cancer and other illnesses, shot her husband in the head and then killed herself at their house in Thailand.
 
Neighbours said that the woman was stressed by her illness and her husband was popular and good looking, and this may have fuelled her actions.
 
The shooting in tambon Tha Khai of Muang district was reported to police about 7 am, Pol Lt Jaraesak Suwannason, deputy investigation chief at Muang police station, said on Thursday.
 

 
Pilaiwan Khamdee was found dead on her bed inside the one-story house. Her husband, Montri Kimaphan, 42, was also lying, bleeding on the bed. He had been shot in the forehead. A .38 pistol was on the bed and there was a bullet hole in a glass window.
 
The grievously injured man was rushed to Phutthasothon Hospital. The couple’s eldest son, aged 20, told police he heard three gunshots in his mother’s bedroom. He rushed to the room and found both his parents bleeding on the bed, and called for help.
 
He later learned that his mother had left a farewell letter to him and his 18-year-old brother, who lived in another house with his girlfriend.
 
The letter read, “Mum and dad could not stand it anymore. I was so tired. I am sorry"
 
She also bequeathed her assets to him and his younger brother in the farewell letter, he said.
 
The young man said his mother had been suffering from nasopharynx cancer and other illnesses. Stress from her illnesses might have driven her to take her own life.
 

 
Neighbours told police that the kamnan also worked as a local contractor. He was a good-looking family man, kind and loved by many residents.
 
They suspected jealousy and stress from her illnesses might have driven his wife to shoot him.
 
Police are still investigating.

Fake corps member remanded in custody for 'criminal trespass and forgery'






A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ilorin, on Monday,November 18th ordered that an applicant, Osaghae Osaigbovo, who allegedly impersonated a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, be remanded in a correctional facility.  
 
The Chief Magistrate, Ahmed Ibrahim, gave the order after the defendant pleaded not guilty to criminal trespass and forgery. He then adjourned the case until Dec. 3 for further mention.   Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Nasir Yusuf told the court that the case was reported by Mr. Tota George, Assistant Director of NYSC Camp, Yikpata, Kwara on Nov. 8, at the State Criminal Investigation Department, (SCID) Ilorin.  
 
Yusuf alleged that the accused, while posing as a prospective corps member, presented a fake Batch “C”, call-up letter, with number NYSC/AUP/2019/01546. He also said that the defendant presented a fake registration slip and job list with forged signatures.  
 
The prosecutor said that the defendant was arrested while trying to collect an NYSC kit from the platoon inspector, Mrs. Adewoye Lara at NYSC camp, Yikpata. Yusuf said that the investigation revealed that the defendant forged his notification of Higher National Diploma (HND) result of Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi in Edo.  
 
The prosecutor said that investigation also revealed that Osaigbovo was a notorious criminal, who specialises in forging documents.  Yusuf said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 348 and 364 of the Penal Code.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that former President Goodluck Jonathan is pleased with its candidate, David Lyon's emergence as the Governor of Bayelsa State in the just concluded Governorship election.

Man stabs his brother to death over N500 in Lagos






A tragic incident occurred at Tokunbo house in Kamoru street at Alimosho, Lagos state as a middle aged man identified as Fortune (IK) reportedly stabbed his brother Chinaza to death. 
 
The brothers got into a heated argument after Chinaza refused releasing the N500 his mother gave him to his elder brother Fortune. The murder suspect who is currently on the run got angered by this and reportedly broke a glass cup which he used in stabbing his brother in the throat. 
 
Fortune reportedly rushed his brother to the hospital thereafter but he was confirmed dead on arrival. He reportedly escaped from the hospital, changed his cloth upon returning home with the excuse of coming to pick his ATM to withdraw money and disappeared afterwards. 

Suspected fraudster arraigned on a seven-count charge bordering on forgery and possession of false documents






A suspected fraudster was brought before a High Court sitting in Benue state on a seven-count charge.
 
The Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, Makurdi Zonal office, docked Simeon Ngutor Ngugban, 26 on charges bordering on forgery and possession of documents containing false pretence.
 
Ngugban was on Monday, November 18, 2019, arraigned before Justice M. A. Ikpambese of the High Court of Benue State, Makurdi, EFCC reports via their Instagram account.
 
 

The robbery lasted for many hours but police did not come" - Woman who recently gave birth narrates how armed robbers killed her husband in Lagos









A woman, who recently gave birth has narrated how armed robbers killed her husband Ejike Ike in an attack at their Lagos home that lasted several hours on Friday.
 
It was gathered that the incident which occurred at 19, Sanni Labode Street, New Oko Oba, lasted between 2am and 4am. The armed men numbering about 10 and wearing black attires took their time moving from one room to the other stealing money, phones and other valuables.
 
According to residents, the hoodlums forced their way into the gated compound by using a sledgehammer to break the keys before entering Ike’s house from the backdoor. Ike was said to have been sleeping when the criminals entered his flat.
 
Speaking to The Nation, his widow said that she was the one who first noticed an intruder had gained access into their home and she alerted her husband.

Quote:“My husband sells gas. We were sleeping when I started hearing noise. I woke up to check and saw there was a man wearing black who has entered our house from the back door. I quickly alerted my husband that it was an armed robber and he woke up with sleepy eyes. No, he did not struggle with the man at all. As the man saw him, he shot him in the chest," she said.
“I was already hiding the children when I heard my husband scream that he has been shot in the chest. So, I rushed out and dragged him. We were running through the other door not knowing that there were other robbers by the gate. When we saw them, I ran to another direction and my husband followed another road but they caught him and were beating him. They led him back to the building. I was hiding until around 5am when I came out and I saw my husband lying face down in our house. That was when I shouted for help and our neighbours came out. We rushed him to P&G Hospital but they referred us to General Hospital. It was at the General Hospital that the police came and took him. I did not know my husband was dead by that time because I was telling the police that he should be in the hospital where they can take care of him and not at the police station.
"But they did not answer me. They told me to go home and later, they asked for my husband’s brother’s number which a neighbour gave them. It was when he came that I was later told my husband had died. This robbery lasted for many hours but police did not come. It was after the death that they later came to my house to see where the armed robbers entered from. It was later I learnt that they also attacked three flats in our compound and that they shot Mr. Ben in the stomach,” she said.

A Facebook user, with the username; Otuboh Godwin has narrated how the corpses of a man and his wife have been abandoned for over five days, due to land dispute in Ikot Uduak, a community in Calabar.

According to the Facebook user, Godwin, sequel to the couple’s death, the village head stepped in to claim ownership of their land, insisting that the deceased couple do not belong to the community.

The son of the deceased however, in his statement, stated that the land belongs to their family and they are still in possession of the land documents. He also maintained that his grandfather bought the land and passed it on to his dad who lived there all his life and raised 11 children.

Stressing further, the deceased son explained that the land dispute started immediately his parents died, and the village head stopped him and his siblings from burying their parents in the compound.

PDP's governorship candidate Musa Wada heads for tribunal, says Kogi election was an organized war against democracy






Musa Wada, the People's Democratic Party Governorship candidate in the November 16 governorship election in Kogi State has disclosed that he will be heading to tribunal just after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared the incumbent Governor of the State, Yahaya Bello as winner of the election. 
 
The PDP governorship candidate who addressed newsmen on Monday November 18, described the election as a declaration and execution of war against the people.
 
Wada claimed that there was seizure of power through brigandage and the barrel of the gun, with members of the police and other security agencies coordinating the stealing of people’s votes.

Kidnappers kill Katsina businessman as he attempts to escape hours after abduction






Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers killed a businessman, Sa’adu Dan Bagalo, hours after his abduction from his residence at Kaita town, Katsina State.
 
It was gathered that the gunmen attacked the residence at about 1.42am, shooting sporadically which later led to a gun duel with policemen for close to 2 hours.
 
The abductors finally whisked him but were chased by the policemen. While the gunmen were driving along Bakiyawa village, Bagola was said to have attempted to escape and was shot in the back and he died instantly.
 
When contacted, the spokesman of the state police command, SP Gambo Isah said;
“On 17/11/2019 at about 03:10hrs, bandits in their numbers, armed with AK47 rifles, shooting sporadically, attacked the residence of one Alhaji Sa’adu Dan Bagalo, m, aged 50yrs of Kofar Kudu, Kaita LGA of Katsina state and abducted him. Police patrol team attached to Kaita Division responded to the scene and gave the hoodlums a hot chase into the bush. As the chase got closer and the hoodlums could no longer sustain the tempo, they killed the victim and one Bawale Inusa, m, aged 58yrs of the same address escaped through the bush path.”
 
SP Isah confirmed that one police officer and two others sustained various degrees of injuries during the encounter.

“Detectives led by DC CID, KTS, are combing the scene and surrounding bushes with a view to unravelling the full identity of the perpetrators and investigation is ongoing,” he added.
 
The victim has since been buried according to islamic rites.

AIR Peace, Nigeria and West Africa’s largest airline, has signed a contract with Embraer for three additional E195-E2s, confirming purchase rights from the original contract, signed in April this year. The airline also made its debut appearance at the 2019 Dubai Airshow on Sunday, November 17, 2019.

These new E195-E2s will be included in Embraer’s 2019 fourth-quarter backlog and have a value of USD 212.6 million, based on Embraer’s current list prices.

Set to be the first E-Jets E2 operator in Africa, Air Peace’s firm order, announced in April this year, is now for 13 E195-E2s with 17 purchase rights for the same model. The first delivery is scheduled for the second quarter of 2020.

“The E195-E2 is the perfect aircraft to expand our operations in Africa and this new order is a further confirmation of our ‘no-city-left-behind initiative which we shall continue to execute”, said Air Peace Chairman/CEO, Mr. Allen Onyema.

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa, said they visited former President Goodluck Jonathan after Saturday’s governorship elections in recognition of his position as the father and leader of the state.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Minister of State for Petroleum, Chief Timipre Sylva, led APC leaders including governor-elect David Lyon, to visit the former president’s home on Monday.

Sylva noted that as a former president and leader of the state, Jonathan deserved to be respected and honoured by all Bayelsa people, irrespective of their party leanings.

“Being a former president of the country and a past governor of the State, Jonathan remains an asset to the state and his inputs will always be needed to advance the course of governance in the Bayelsa. As such, it was important for us to introduce the governor-elect to him and seek his support and guidance in building a better Bayelsa,” he said.

Responding, Jonathan tasked Lyon to put the welfare and interest of the Bayelsa people above every other Issue.

Permanent Secretary, his pregnant wife and two kids burnt to death in fire outbreak in Makurdi (photos)






The Acting Permanent Secretary Ministry of Science and Technology and his family were burnt to death in a fire outburst that raised their house at Quararafa Quarters Makurdi in the early hours of today November 18th.
 
According to Facebook user Ukan Kurugh who shared the sad news online, the fire became uncontrollable at 3am, destroying properties worth millions of naira and claimed the lives of the man, his pregnant wife and two children.
 
The cause of the fire is yet unknown.

A civil tight activist and the founder, Women For Change Initiative and Equity, Lady Jane Ogbauta has described Aba, the commercial nerve centre of Abia state as dead, saying women must do something to put the government of the state on its toes.

Ogbauta who had recently led a protest in Aba comprising women from various parts of Abia said no amount of Intimidation can deter her and other women.

In a chat with ABN TV on Sunday, she vowed to mobilise no fewer than 10,000 women after the expiration of the 100 she gave the Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu to a street protest in Aba.

The activist stated that the protest was as a result of worsening situation of infrastructure in Aba especially roads, saying if nothing is done between and this time next year, things could deteriorate further.

"What motivated that protest was that one of my women died July this year. She was in labour so by the time they would bring her out where she lives in Ngwa road, she was already bleeding and later gave up.

"There is no road in Aba. Ohanku Road, there is no road, Ngwa Road, there is no road, Obohia Road, there is no road, Port Harcourt Road, Faulks Road even the one that leads to Teaching Hospital, that one is death trap. There is no road there" she declared.

Ogbauta while admitting to have supported APC in the last election in the state denied allegations that she and her group are being sponsored to cause disability in the state.

While insisting that women are being affected more in the deteriorating state of infrastructure in the state, she dared Ikpeazu and Abia government to wait for the expiration of the 100 days ultimatum she had earlier issued.

Quote:Nigeria may experience widespread blackout soon as power generation companies have unanimously agreed to call the bluff of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company by shutting down power production and supply.

At a briefing in Abuja on Sunday, the Executive Secretary, Association of Power Generation Companies, an umbrella body for the power firms, Joy Ogaji, said NBET’s insistence to impose a 0.75 per cent administrative charge on Gencos for payment of gas invoices was the reason for the imminent power shutdown by Gencos.

It was also gathered that the indebtedness of NBET to power generation companies had risen above N1tn.

NBET is licensed and regulated by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission to undertake bulk purchase and resale of electricity in the Transitional Electricity Market.

In September, The PUNCH reported that NBET demanded an administrative charge of 0.75 per cent from the Gencos for the payment of gas invoices on their (Gencos) behalf.

Although this was rebuffed by the Gencos, as well as the Bureau of Public Enterprises and was not approved by NERC, NBET insisted on implementing it.

Speaking to journalists on Sunday, Ogaji said, “This singular action by NBET may lead to the shutdown of power supply by Gencos, who have unanimously agreed to call the bluff of NBET.”

She said the Gencos thought that the issue had been nipped in the bud, having written to all relevant stakeholders including NERC.

Ogaji said, “It is clear from recent occurrences that NBET is not deterred. NBET has now reduced its role to blackmailing/threatening Genco investors/chairmen who have refused to concede to its illegal demand of a 0.75 per cent charge on invoices paid to gas suppliers.

“NBET has clearly threatened not to release payments due to Gencos until they accede to its request, urging them to agree for a quid pro quo with the 0.75 per cent administrative charge.”

Ogaji also stated that Gencos’ indebtedness to their gas suppliers was due to NBET’s indebtedness to power generators.

“No Genco has any outstanding gas payment that is more than what NBET owes the Genco. Put differently, NBET is indirectly charging 0.75 per cent for paying its debt to Gencos.”

According to her, NBET should take it as an assurance that the Gencos had been still for too long and were now ready, able and willing to utilise even higher and stronger contacts in the government to see this issue to fruition.

She said, “We hereby reiterate our position strongly recommending to the government and other key stakeholders that the administration of the Gencos finances reverts to the Market Operator, while NBET focuses on engagements with new entrants or intending power project developers.”

Efforts to get NBET’s reaction were unsuccessful, as calls to the firm’s Managing Director, Marilyn Amobi, rang out. A text message to her mobile line was also yet to be responded to as of press time.

On a year on year basis, the composite food index rose by 14.09 percent in October 2019 compared to 13.51 percent in September 2019.

This rise in the food index was caused by increases in prices of Meat, Oils and fats, Bread and cereals, Potatoes, yam and other tubers, Fish and Vegetables.

On a month-on-month basis, the food sub-index increased by 1.33 percent in October 2019, up by 0.03 percentage points from 1.30 percent recorded in September 2019.

The average annual rate of change of the Food sub-index for the twelve-month period ending October 2019 over the previous twelve-month average was 13.54 percent, equivalent to 0.07  percentage points higher than the average annual rate of change recorded in September 2019 (13.47 percent).

All Items Inflation

In October 2019, all items inflation rate, on year on year basis was highest in Kebbi (15.20%), Bauchi (13.97%) and Ondo (13.74%), while Kwara (9.69%), Katsina (9.29%) and Bayelsa (9.07%) recorded the slowest rise in headline year on year inflation rate.

On month on month basis however, October 2019 All items inflation rate was highest in Benue (2.20%), Bauchi (1.87%) and Cross River (1.80%). Anambra recorded the slowest rise at 0.28%, while Bayelsa and Ebonyi saw a decline in the headline month on month index by -0.13% and -0.35% respectively.

Food Inflation

In October 2019, food inflation rate on a year on year basis was highest in Kebbi (17.53%), Ondo (17.01%) and Ogun (17.00%), while Kogi (12.12%), Katsina (11.18%) and Bayelsa (9.55%) recorded the slowest rise.

On month on month basis, however, October 2019 food inflation rate was highest in Oyo (2.56%), Osun (2.52%) and Lagos (2.05%) while Enugu (0.24%) and Abuja (0.14%) saw the slowest increases in a month on month food inflation rate. Bayelsa, at -0.35%, recorded price deflation or negative inflation (that is, a decrease in the general price level of food or a negative food inflation rate).

A Political activist and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Monday, congratulated the Governor-elect of Bayelsa state, David Lyon, describing his victory as deserving.

Frank in a statement in Abuja also urged National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus and the National Working Committee (NWC) led by him to apologise or resign over the loss of a state controlled by the party since 1999.

“This victory was not won by the APC but by the people of Bayelsa who have resisted imposition and oppression with their blood because of their implicit confidence in the capacity of Lyon to transform the state and change their story for the better,” he said.

He called on the National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus and the National Working Committee (NWC) led by him, to immediately apologise to all leaders and members of the party in Bayelsa State in particular and the country in general, or resign their positions for deliberately trading the party’s political capital and dominance in the state for a pot of porridge.
