Release Sowore with immediate effect. You want to conduct and illegal verification of sureties - Falana fires back at DSS

Femi Falana has reacted to DSS' recent statement on why it is still detaining #RevolutionNow convener Omoyele Sowore even after perfecting his bail conditions.

Recall that the DSS in its statement this evening, said they can only release Omoyele Sowore to his sureties which according to them was the normal thing to do.

However reacting to DSS' statement, Sowore's counsel Femi Falana accused the security agency of aggravating the felony of contempt of court by conducting an "illegal" verification of sureties that have already been verified by the trial court.

He also disclosed that the Federal High Court attached no condition for the release Sowore after he perfected his bail conditions.

Quote:Falana said: “On November 6, the Bailiff of the Federal High Court wanted to serve the order of court for the immediate release of Messrs Omoyele Sowore and Adebayo Bakare on the State Security Service (SSS). Under the pretext that the management had closed for the day the Court Bailiff was asked to serve the order at 10am on November 7.
“In the company of four members of the defence team the Court Bailiff served the order on that day. After the four lawyers had waited in vain for hours the SSS asked them to go and that they would be contacted on phone to pick up the two detainees after consultations.
“But the SSS never contacted the lawyers. To our utter dismay, the SSS issued an incendiary statement on November 8 wherein it was claimed that no one had shown up to receive both detainees. Yesterday (Tuesday), two members of the defence team, family members and friends of both detainees reported at the headquarters of the SSS. Some journalists were also there to witness the release of both detainees.
“Instead of releasing both detainees to their lawyers and family members the SSS fired teargass and shot into the air. In the process, the lawyers, family members and friends of both detainees were physically attacked by masked security operatives.
“Some of the journalists were seriously injured. Having proved beyond any reasonable doubt that members of the defence team, family members and friends of the two detainees had reported in the headquarters of the SSS to receive them the story has now changed.
“The SSS has now said that “It is only appropriate that those who stood surety for Sowore present themselves and have him released to them.”
“From the latest statement it is crystal clear that the SSS has no scores to settle with Mr. Bakare. Hence, the SSS has decided not to invite his own sureties to collect him. It is hoped that the SSS will release him without any further delay.
“With respect to Mr. Sowore, we wish to state, without any fear of contradiction, that the SSS has apparently constituted itself into an appellate court over the Federal High Court. For the avoidance of doubt, no condition is attached to the order of court for the release of both detainees.
“Therefore, the SSS is aggravating the felony of contempt of court by asking sureties who had been verified by the trial court to report in its office for an illegal verification.
“In view of the reckless insinuations of the SSS, I am compelled to point out that my colleagues and I did not risk our lives for the purpose of substituting military dictatorship for civilian autocracy. It is pertinent to point out that suspects who were presumed innocent under the defunct military junta were not exposed to the crude intimidation that has become the lot of Sowore and Bakare.
“Even when five of us were charged with treasonable felony in May 1992 we were released after we had met the bail conditions. On that occasion, the SSS never asked our sureties to report after they had been verified by the trial court. I demand for nothing less for my clients under the current political dispensation which ought to be anchored on the rule of law.
“Finally, I confirm that I have an official relationship with the DG of SSS. But since the commencement of the case of Sowore and Bakare the DG has refused to pick my calls while I have since become a persona non grata in the office of the SSS.
“With respect to the baseless allegation that I am playing to the gallery by demanding for the release of my clients in line with the valid and subsisting order of a competent law court, I shall take appropriate action under the law. Meanwhile, the SSS should release our clients from illegal custody and should stop exposing the country to unwarranted ridicule.”

Instant Keto steady weight loss. Nothing fast. The reason fish oil helps reduce weight is because the omega-3s contained in it help balance the high levels of omega-6 and omega-9 fats in our unnatural diets.Without this balance and a large amount of healthy omega-3 fats, our body gets out of control and begins to cause us health problems that lead to weight gain and much more.Firstly, if you see on the label that the fish oil mixture contains 180 mg of EPA and 120 mg of DHA, this is most likely a mixture of generics and probably not the best quality option. I estimate that approximately 80% of fish oil pills on store shelves

Kogi guber: Buhari, Senate have rigged Saturday’s election for Yahaya Bello with approval of N10bn – HURIWA

 November 13, 2019

A prominent civil rights advocacy group, Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, on Wednesday, insisted that the senate and the Presidency have rigged the Saturday’s governorship election in favour of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

HURIWA made the claim while lambasting the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, for approving what it termed the N10 billion presidency’s largesse to Kogi State just few days to the election.

It wondered why only three days to the governorship election in Kogi State, the Senate went on to approve promissory notes and bond issuance of N10.069 billion to the state as a refund for projects executed on behalf of the federal government.

The approval on Wednesday was criticized by opposition lawmakers who asked that the approval be delayed till after the election.

The rights group said by delaying the release of the cash till the final hours to the election in which the All Progressives Congress incumbent Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello is facing stiff opposition from the Peoples Democratic Party’s Musa Wada and SDP’s Miss Natasha Akpoti, the APC and President Muhammadu Buhari have inevitably interfered in the Kogi governorship poll in an unlawful way.

In a statement by the National Coordinator Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, HURIWA stated that aside the last minute’s interference by both the presidency and the Senate, the current hierarchy of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has become “irredeemably damaged by the credibility crises occasioned by the compromised and unethical conduct of the 2019 general elections which generated over one thousand post-election litigation.”

HURIWA stated, “emphatically that there is now no level playing field for all the contestants because of the heavy financial inducements that may be occasioned by the late release of the huge N10 billion campaign largesse packaged dubiously as Federal government’s refund to Kogi State.”

The civil rights advocacy group argued that “ab initio there is no empirical evidence to support any claim that the administration of Yahaya Bello in the last four years executed any federal government’s projects within the state to justify the dubious refund from the Federal government of Muhammadu Buhari.”

The statement reads: “We absolutely condemn the senator Ahmed Lawan – led National Assembly for orchestrating the worst case of abuse of power which is what the approval of the N10 billion payment to an incumbent governor of same political affiliation facing a tough election, represents.

“We condemn once more the presidency for even coming up with such a dubious idea to reward the Kogi state governor who is yet to pay civil servants and teachers in Kogi state in the last four years with over a dozen of these unfortunate citizens committing suicide or collapsing to their deaths due to Kogi state government’s induced poverty, deprivation, want and impoverishment unleashed on Kogi working class. We do not repose any hope and trust on INEC to conduct a free and fair poll because it is not in the DNA of the current INEC to conduct transparent election.

“It would be recalled as we earlier stated Kogi, like the Senate and the federal government, is controlled by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The approval was a sequel to the adoption of the report of the Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts, which considered the promissory note programme and a bond issuance to settle inherited local debts and contractual obligations on the refund to state governments for projects executed on behalf of the federal government.

“This is a coup attempt against the people of Kogi state by the APC dominated Senate and the Presidency.

We urge Kogi people not to mortgage their state to the whims and caprices of cash for votes bandits parading around in the Country as politicians especially the species that have direct access to the Presidency that is heavily partisan and sectional,” the statement added.

Osinbajo never led a prayer in RCCG for Buhari's death- spokesperson, Laolu Akande, says

Laolu Akande, the Special Adviser to Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, on Media and Publicity, has denied claims made by a newspaper columnist, Festus Adebayo, that Osinbajo recently visited a branch of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and led members of the church in prayers for the death of President Buhari.

Adedayo, in a piece published in the Tribune titled ''The Trial of Brother Osinbajo'', alleged that he received information that Osinbajo, who is a Senior Pastor with the RCCG, had, in a gathering with members of the church, prayed for the death of the President when he was away on medical leave. Adebayo alleged that a confidante of Buhari, who was at the gathering, informed the President of Osinbajo’s prayers rendered against him and this has led to the breakdown in the relationship between Buhari and Osinbajo.

Quote:When Buhari went on his earlier UK search for health remedy to an undisclosed ailment, it was a top gossip in the seat of power that Osinbajo, engrossed in a prayer session with his Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) accomplices in his home state of Ogun, and frantically being prayed for, for God to make him president by one of the pastors who starred at the prayer session, didn’t know that a strong ally of Buhari – unbeknown to the ally that such “prayer coup” was ongoing – had entered their midst, innocently there to pay obeyance to the VP.

Still with their eyes closed, the prayer warriors nearly prayed that the ground should swallow them when, upon opening their eyes, they saw the president’s ally with them. If you were praying the VP into the office of the president, with the VP shouting thunderous “Amen” to your prayer, weren’t you praying for the boss’ death? That was the first infraction against the laws of power the VP was said to have committed. And one of the reasons Osinbajo hounded and still harangues the ally till today.
The second foot Osinbajo reportedly hit against the stone was said to be his role during Buhari’s AWOL shuttle to his infirmary. That Walter Onnoghen, allegedly primed to package Buhari inside a judicial casket during the 2019 elections, emerged acting Chief Justice of the Federation through his acting pen angered Villa power apparatchik, so much that they imputed a political Judas into Osinbajo’s act. The removal of Lawal Daura, erstwhile Director-General of the Department of State Services on August 7, 2018 also rankled these owls. If Osinbajo stepped on their mamba’s tail by this act, he fiddled with their lion’s tail subsequently when, at a conference of Online Publishers Association of Nigeria (OPAN), he unabashedly said that, before Saturday, January 12, Buhari was not aware of Onogohen’s trial.

What this did was to populate and give official imprimatur to the belief that Buhari was just a mere scarecrow decorating the patio of Aso Rock. He wore Omoyele Sowore’s activists’ bandana. More stinging to this set of people known as the cabal, was the fact that Osinbajo sidelined all of them in his decision-taking during the period, was already strutting hither thither like an accursed turtle-dove which, to them, added to the coup-prayer session, was an apparent indication that he was sure Buhari wouldn’t come back and the clock was ticking for the cabals at the Villa'' he said

Reacting to Adebayo's claim, Laolu in a statement released today, denied Adebayo's allegation and asked the journalist to present evidence to back up all his claims.

Quote:Mr. Festus Adedayo’s article above is a sad descent into the gutter by this gentleman. When a professional columnist of Adedayo’s age and experience puts his reputation behind outright fiction and absolute mischief, usually it is a sign that the poor fellow is compromised. This is the sad reality we face today and it is truly troubling.
But let us give Mr. Adedayo the benefit of the doubt. Let us assume that he has some facts to support the reckless insinuations and innuendoes in his article.
He should then be able to answer the following questions.
He claimed that the Vice President, together with some Redeemed Church ‘accomplices’, gathered to pray at some place unstated in his home State of Ogun, at a date that was not indicated, for the purpose of interceding for the VP to become President, and by extension, hoping for, or seeking the death of the President.
So where exactly in Ogun State did this prayer session take place, and when? Was it in a church, in which case there would likely be an audio recording? Who are the prominent pastors or other persons involved that can testify to what transpired – what are their names? Who is the “strong Buhari ally” who made a surprise appearance at the gathering and brought the story back to Mr. President? If, as Adedayo claims, the VP has been hounding and haranguing this Buhari ally since then, why is it so difficult for him to cry out and publicize his strange discovery.
Who primed Onnoghen to “package Buhari inside a judicial casket” during the 2019 elections? And to whose benefit? If, for any reason, the Buhari election was nullified by the judiciary, how would that benefit his running mate, since they contested on the same ticket?
These asinine stories put together by Mr. Adedayo betray a more evil motive. The Vice President’s commitment to the service of the Nigerian people under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari is unrelenting. But there is a desperation in some quarters to create a division between the President and the Vice President. It appears that they need some well known press names who are prepared to write anything. But for what reward? One wonders. They clearly found one here, as the writer’s jaundiced article bumbled from the realm of baseless claims to outright fiction.
We do not expect an apology from Mr. Adedayo to the Vice President. This is the style of these professionals gone rogue. They are prepared to smear others and stick to their vile stories. Their conscience seems unperturbed by their reckleness. But, again, we give him the benefit of the doubt, let him answer the questions we have asked'' he said

Sowore remains with us until his sureties come for him – DSS

On Wednesday, November 13th, the Department of State Services, DSS, said it can only release the Convener of #RevevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore to his sureties, which it said was the normal thing to do.

DSS’ spokesman, Peter Afunanya, in a statement said since no surety had shown up, Sowore would remain in custody of the department. He also said despite serial and unwarranted provocations, the service, as a professional and responsible organisation, did not shoot at the so called protesters and could not have done so.

Quote:“For emphasis, the service reiterates its avowed readiness to release Sowore once the processes are concluded. It maintains that the appropriate persons have still not turned up to take delivery of Sowore.
“While all those that have so far shown up are not directly concerned with the matter and therefore unqualified, many others have either chosen to grandstand or politicise it to achieve hidden interests,” he said.
According to Afunanya, in the last few days, the service had continued to witness deliberate campaigns of calumny, threats and aspersions against it, saying it would not, for any reason, join issues with its mudslingers, while calling on the media to be neutral and remain champions of the truth.
Quote:He added that “It is only appropriate that those who stood surety for Sowore present themselves and have him released to them. It is even more disappointing that Femi Falana, who is a senior lawyer, would wrongly guide his client and supporters.
“He is rather playing to the gallery and mobilising miscreants to subvert the service and other state authorities. He has excellent relationship with the DGSS. But in the circumstance, he has refused to reach out to him over the case like he had on previously related ones.”
He said for the avoidance of doubt, the service restated its commitment to the rule of law and particularly respect to the court and therefore called for calm, but stated that it would not be intimidated or harassed into hasty actions.
Quote:“It reassures the public that it will not waste a second to release Sowore if the proper processes are followed. And Falana, sure, knows what these are,” he said.

Frozen Foods Concealed As Vegetables Intercepted At Lagos Airport (Photo)

Two consignments of frozen foods worth N68.8m which were intercepted by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), were destroyed on Wednesday November 13.

Speaking to newsmen, Customs Area Comptroller (CAC) Mr. Wale Adeniyi said one of the consignments was concealed as vegetables while the other consignment was allegedly abandoned by the importer at Gate 13 of the airport.

It was gathered that the first consignment containing meat, chicken, turkey and other frozen foods were discovered on South African Airways on November 10, 2019.

He said, “Though, the Airway Bill described the goods as fresh vegetables, but they were rather frozen foods, which are contraband in the country. It became obvious that the importer through his agents has prepared pre-release documentations purporting the imports to be fresh vegetables with the sole intention to evade the import prohibition order.”

Wale Adeniyi further disclosed that the second consignment of 104 cartons which had pork meat, beef, and turkey was abandoned inside four dollies close to Gate 13.

Expel Obaseki - Edo APC LG Chairmen Tell APC National Leadership
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 11-13-2019, 05:48 PM - No Replies

Quote:The 18 Local Government Chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State have called on the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to expel the state governor, Godwin Obaseki, from the party.

They made the call on Tuesday in a statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the body and Etsako West Chairman, Ibrahim Akokia, as well as his Etsako Central and Owan West counterparts, Suleiman Bagudu and Lugard Alukpe respectively.

This comes as the crisis rocking the state chapter of the party deepens, following the suspension of the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, by the party’s leadership in Edo State.

The state leadership had explained in a statement issued earlier that Oshiomhole was suspended following the vote of no confidence passed on him by the APC LG chairmen.

The LG chairmen, however, distanced themselves from the said suspension of the APC national chairman, saying the claim of passing a vote of no confidence on Oshiomhole was not true.

On the contrary, they accused Governor Obaseki of harassment and intimidation, adding his actions could pull down the APC in the state.

“He is on a mission to destroy APC in Edo State but we will resist it,” they said.

The chairmen added, “We are the chairmen of the party in the 18 LGA s and we are not aware of the meeting where a vote of no confidence was passed on the national chairman of our party, Comrade Oshiomhole who is doing very well.

“Rather we are aware that majority of the chairmen haven suffered intimidation, harassment and assault in the hands of the Governor Godwin Obaseki led administration, what we have never seen in the politics of our dear state.”

The chairmen, thereafter, passed a vote of no confidence on Governor Obaseki and the embattled state chairman of the party, Anslem Ojezua.

They alleged that both men have not only failed the party but the people of the state, adding that they have been involved in anti-party activities and lacked the moral rights to remain in the APC.

“Oshiomhole remains our leader and we pass vote of confidence on his leadership.

“It is sad that the governor and his cohorts are using money to induce our members but majority of them, we are happy, have resisted his moves to intimidate them,” the LG chairmen alleged.

Heartbreaking new details emerge about Alexis Crawford’s death

The murder of Atlanta University Student Alexis Crawford, which was allegedly carried out by her roommate and her roommate's boyfriend, has shocked everyone who has heard about it and more details have surfaced about what happened on the night she was killed.

As both suspects remain in police custody and charged with her murder, new court documents have revealed more details about Alexis Crawford’s murder on Halloween night in Atlanta, just minutes away from the college campus where she was in her senior year.

As reported by AJC News, after Alexis was strangled to death allegedly by her roommate Jordyn Jones’ boyfriend Barron Brantley, her remains were put inside a plastic bin that was dumped at a park in the city of Decatur, according to the criminal complaint from Fulton County Superior Court.

Earlier in the evening of her death, Alexis and her roommate Jordyn reportedly got into an altercation that turned physical. According to initial reports, this led to Jordyn’s boyfriend Barron getting involved and he then chocked Alexis.

However, new details state that Jordyn smothered Alexis with a trash bag before Barron dumped her body.

Jordyn initially told the Crawford family that she didn’t know where Alexis was and was hoping for her return. But she eventually led local Atlanta police to Alexis's body in a Decatur, Georgia park. Shortly after, Barron allegedly confessed to killing Alexis. They are both currently in jail, charged with murder and held without bond.

Alexis's murder came after she filed a police report stating that Barron was touching and kissing her without her consent.

APC Governors To Oshiomhole: Resign As Chairman Or Convene NEC Immediately
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 11-13-2019, 03:13 PM - No Replies

Quote:By ANDREW ESSIEN

Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have expressed dissatisfaction with the various crisis currently rocking the party and have demanded that the National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole convene a National Executive Committee (NEC) Meeting or resign immediately.

The governors under the aegis of Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) specifically mentioned the ongoing political battle between the governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki and Oshiomhole himself among many others across the country.
LEADERSHIP recalls that All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State on Tuesday, suspended the APC National Chairman over what it termed as “his role in the crisis rocking the state chapter of the party”.

The decision followed the vote of no confidence passed on Comrade Oshiomhole by the Chairmen of the APC in the 18 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Edo State.

However, In a statement made available to newsmen Wednesday morning in Abuja and signed by the PGF’s Director General Salihu Moh. Lukman, the forum asked “Why is it impossible to convene a NEC or even National Caucus meetings, which are supposed to hold every quarter to resolve all these issues? Why should the NWC under Comrade Oshiomhole continue to imagine that it can conduct affairs of the party without mandatory meetings of party organs?

What legacy is Comrade Oshiomhole hoping to achieve as a National Chairman by running the party in a way that suggests almost zero commitment to issues of party development?”
While demanding for a statutory NEC meeting, the governors said: “In the current circumstance, nothing short of a NEC or National Caucus meeting of the party can resolve all our increasing organisational challenges as a party. It is either Comrade Oshiomhole respect the provision of party constitution and convene superior organ meeting to deliberate on all our challenges, or he should just accept his inability to manage the party and simply resign.

“Our national leaders must rise to the challenge facing us as a party and take all necessary measures to convene superior organ meetings to begin to resolve all our challenges as a party. The current public disgrace must end!”

The governors said it is very painful for many of them who have had the privilege of being mentored by Comrade Oshiomhole to see him being devalued to a local factional leader from a very high pedestal of an illustrious national leader.

“As National Chairman, Comrade Oshiomhole hardly appreciate that he now has a national constituency and not just a state constituency, which may have been responsible for his apparent intemperance in the handling of matters affecting Edo State. I wish he paid similar attention to handling of issues affecting Rivers and Zamfara states during the 2019 elections.

“Information coming from Edo State indicate that members of the State Executive Council of APC have passed vote of no confidence on Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, National Chairman of our party, APC. In so many respects, it could be argued, it is a natural outcome of unfolding power play between Comrade Oshiomhole and Governor Godwin Obaseki since June 2019 with the contentious inauguration of the Edo State House of Assembly. Possible retaliatory response from both Comrade Oshiomhole and groups such as Edo Peoples Movement who are loyal to Comrade Oshiomhole should be expected. In other words, the could be counter pronouncement suspending Governor Obaseki.

“Side by side with the news of the vote of no confidence was also the discomforting report of the Federal High Court judgement in Abuja disqualifying Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo as our Deputy Governorship candidate for the November 16, 2019 Bayelsa election. While expecting that every necessary step will be taken to vacate the judgement, it is very depressing for every committed party member to be subjected to such ignominious reality, which only remind us of our reckless conducts in states like Zamfara, Rivers, Bauchi and Adamawa, which chiefly gave away electoral victories to PDP.

“Instead of focusing on working to win elections, we are busy undermining ourselves. All these are ominous signs that we are about to re-enact the Zamfara, Rivers, Bauchi and Adamawa experiences in Bayelsa. It is Bayelsa today, Anambra, Edo and Ondo are being setup for similar experiences. Somehow, unfortunately, the National Executive Council (NEC) of the party, which is the organ vested with the statutory responsibility of responding to all these challenges appear to be suspended. The last time it met was August 2018. In its place, the National Working Committee (NWC), which is an administrative organ with the responsibility of implementing decisions of NEC and other higher organs seems to have usurped the powers of NEC.

“Sadly, even the NWC, as at today, is a shadow of itself, as it has lost many members either on accounts of appointment into government or controversial suspension. For instance, Otumba Niyi Adebayo, Deputy National Chairman (South) is today a Minister of the Federal Republic. Sen. Lawal Shuaibu, Deputy National Chairman (North) is allegedly suspended. Alh. Inuwa Abdulkadir, National Vice Chairman (North West) is similarly suspended.

“We may recall that in June 2019, the NWC allegedly suspended Governor Rotimi Akeredolu SAN. During the 2019 general elections, on accounts of the roles of former Governors Rochas Okorocha and Ibikunle Amosun against the candidates of the party, they were similarly suspended. Whether all these actions are permissible by provisions of the APC’s constitution is highly contestable.”

    • 42 underwriters jostle to insure NNPC assets

  • About 42 insurance companies Tuesday, in Abuja, pushed for contract to insure assets of the nation’s oil firm, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation’s (NNPC).
Group Managing Director of NNPC, Mele Kyari, said the selection of insurer for the assets would be transparent, just as is the practice in other areas of its operations nationwide.

Kyari spoke during the public bid opening exercise for companies that participated in the expression of interest as a lead insurer for the Corporation’s oil assets for 2020/2021.
He said: “I am reassuring this country and the rest of our stakeholders that we are poised to make sure that this company acts and works transparently; we will remain accountable to our stakeholders. As a matter of duty for me and the management team, we will deliver on this,” he was quoted in a statement.

Kyari urged the bidding companies to accept the result, as only the best would emerge winner.
Chief Financial Officer, NNPC, Umar Ajiya, stressed the need for proper protection of the national oil assets, adding that the exercise was in pursuance of that objective.

  • He disclosed that a total of 42 companies submitted bids for the lead insurer contract, adding that each of the bids would be assessed on its own merit.

On hand to witness the bid opening process to ensure conformity with the public procurement law were representatives of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), and civil society organisations.

• Gets N12.50k per 1km for yearly renewal

Sixty-three years after the Oil Pipelines Act came into force, the country has continued to charge a meagre N50 for licences to operate pipeline networks worth $4.6 million.

Verification from the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) showed that over 85 per cent of the networks are in the hands of the private sector, while the rest, basically used to transport products, resides with the government.

While Nigeria has approximately 15,000 kilometres of pipeline network, constructing a kilometre costs as much as $4.6 million. The Abuja-Kaduna-Kano pipeline has a length of 614km. It is thought to be worth $2.8 billion, bringing the cost per kilometre to $4.6 million.

Section 31 (Sub-section One to Six) of the Act states: “The applicant for a permit to survey shall pay a fee of twenty naira upon submitting his application, and a fee of fifty naira upon the grant of such permit. The applicant for a licence shall pay a fifty-naira fee upon the submission of his application, and a fee of N200 upon the grant of such licence. The holder of a permit shall pay a fee of N50 in respect of each variation of such permit. The holder of a licence shall pay a fee of N200 in respect of each variation of such licence. An annual fee shall be paid on each licence of twenty naira per mile (1.6km) of the length of the pipeline, subject to a minimum of N200. The holder of a licence shall pay a fee of N100 upon submitting his application for a restriction order under Section 12 of this act, and a fee of such amount as the minister may determine, not exceeding N400 on such order being made.”

Some regulations were introduced by DPR on the matter, but since the pipeline legislation is an act of parliament, the regulations by the DPR may not void the act unless repealed by the National Assembly, a top official in the petroleum ministry, who pleaded anonymity told The Guardian.

Coming at a time the Federal Government is increasing taxes and borrowing to finance projects and operations, most stakeholders noted that the government has not been proactive and strategic enough to shore up resources from existing loopholes. They also berated the National Assembly for failing to review extant legislations and make them attune current realities.

It took the country decades to amend the Deep Offshore and Inland Basin Production Sharing Contract even as the Petroleum Industry Bill remains in limbo.

HIV prevalence iabove national
Gunmen sack Ta
Partner and Head of Odujinrin & Adefulu’s Energy Practice, Real Estate, and Mining Teams, Dr. Adeoye Adefulu, noted that the development is only one of the many obsolete legislations that government has failed to properly review.

“Many of the acts were created at a time when the value of the naira was high. Unfortunately, they were not reviewed in terms of fees, fines or penalties. This is not a problem that is limited to the Oil Pipelines Act but it runs across the system,” Adefulu said.

A former management employee of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, now chairman of International Energy Services (IES) Ltd, Dr Diran Fawibe, described the situation as official carelessness.

PricewaterhouseCoopers’s Associate Director, Energy, Utilities and Resources, Habeeb Jaiyeola, disclosed that most of the fines and charges attached to the country’s regulations are archaic and require urgent attention.

“We really need to look at how current some of these things are in the current economic system in the country,” Jaiyeola, said, insisting that the nation is losing in terms of economic value.

According to him, the pipeline industry is huge and is a great means for government to raise revenue. But the industry must be reset in terms of regulations, to ensure that legislations are brought into the economic framework of the country.

“There is a lot going through pipelines – oil, gas, petroleum products and others. When these things are going through different pipelines, the person who has right over them makes money but the appropriate value is not coming to the government,” he said.

An expert with the Emerald Energy Institute for Petroleum and Energy Economics, Policy and Strategic Studies, University of Port Harcourt, Henry Biose, noted that despite the prevailing situation, pipelines are grossly inadequate to meet the nation’s domestic supply obligation.

He stressed the need for strategies to ensure sustainable development, especially of gas pipelines, for socio-economic development in the country.
The Chief Executive Officer, Degeconek, and former President of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE), Abiodun Adesanya, said the development was shocking, given that the figure was low, even as at 1956 when the act was introduced. “These are aberrations. They shouldn’t be there in the first place. Urgent action is required on things like this,” he said.

To help women entrepreneurs in Nigeria and other African countries improve their capacity, the European Investment Bank (EIB), has announced a $1.1 billion lending programme called, SheInvest

EIB Vice President, Ambroise Fayolle, also revealed that the bank has signed three further agreements to boost sustainable development on the continent.   But the major deal is what the EIB has dubbed, SheInvest. The EIB expects the gender-lending initiative to allow women to play a more active role in economies.    “This initiative aims to promote female entrepreneurship,” said Fayolle, noting that female entrepreneurs will also gain business skills from the initiative.

He explained that the financing will promote gender investment related to climate change and is part of broader European engagement to provide targeted support for new investment that supports increased female economic participation in Africa.

The announcement was made at the Africa Investment Forum, in Johannesburg, where hundreds of investors, development partners, and wealth funds have gathered from November 11 to 13, for the continent’s premier marketplace.

The EIB is the lending arm of the European Union. The EIB has supported investment in Africa for more than 50 years. Last year, it provided a record €3.3 billion to African countries, with more than half the funds being pumped into the private sector.

As one of the largest providers of climate finance, the investment bank has also struck a deal with Guinea-based telecommunications provider, IPT PowerTech Group, which will see the company abandon fossil fuels for cleaner sources of power such as solar and wind.
Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at IPT PowerTech Group, Mohamed Al Habbal, said the move to renewable sources of energy such as solar power will help the company reduce its carbon footprint. Habbal estimates that thousands of jobs will be created as a result of this deal.

A further deal that was signed on the first day of the second Africa Investment Forum, will see African Trade Insurance increase its membership in Western and Southern Africa. This increased insurance coverage is expected to attract more investment to the continent.

In Southern Africa the EIB confirmed a new lending programme to support access to finance by entrepreneurs across Malawi and confirmed a new scheme to finance smallholders in the country to be launched early next year.

A Senior Manager at Malawi’s FDH Bank, Patricia Hamisi, said the money will help the bank enhance its long-term credit to small businesses owned by women. “The agreement comes with technical assistance which will help the bank enhance its trade financing.”

Popular Ondo Pastor accused of kidnapping church member’s one-year-old son

A popular pastor in Akure, the Ondo State capital has been allegedly fingered in the disappearance of the son of one of his church members.

Prophet Babatunde Alfa, who is the founder of the popular church known as ‘Sotitobire Miracle Centre’ which is located at Oshinle quarters area of Akure was accused by the parents of the missing child identified as Gold Kolawola, over the mysterious disappearance of their son from the church.

It was gathered that one-year-old Gold has been missing for the past three days since Sunday Service on November 10, 2019
According to sources within the church, the boy who was at the children’s department of the church could not be found after Sunday’s service when his mother went to pick him.

The mother of the boy, Mrs. Modupe Kolawole, a member of the Church while speaking over the development on Tuesday said that she suspected foul play over the mysterious disappearance of her son from the church.

Mrs. Kolawole explained that the children’s department of the church where her son went missing is being mounted by 14 teachers, adding that some of the members of the church told her that they saw her son in the vehicle of the church’s founder, Prophet Babatunde Alfa.

She further alleged that when the issue was raised with the Prophet, he showed no remorse as he did nothing to help in the search for her son.

Mrs. Kolawola also explained that despite reporting the kidnap to the church authorities and the B Division Police station, Oke-Aro, as well as Anti-kidnapping office at Alagbaka, Akure, nobody had been arrested or interrogated by the police.

She, however, called on relevant authorities to come to her rescue, as she cried out that Prophet Alfa has been using his connection to silence them as well as prevent security operatives from investigating the issue.

“When it was 5 pm that day, they ended the service and they reported the matter to Pastor and he said I should not worry that they will see my son.

“He even told me and my husband that we should go home and sleep that we should not make noise. Later I called my sister and I reported everything to her and she rushed down from Ondo town to Akure and we all started looking for him.

“I personally went to Sotitobire and started begging him that the disappearance of my child occurred in your Church; he said we will see him but up till now, we have not found him.
“As I am talking to you now, Alfa Babatunde, Sotitobire has not called me, nothing has been done to get my child back. I want my child. If I see my child I will end the case. I am begging everyone to help me find the child.”

All efforts to speak to Prophet Alfa proved abortive as he did not pick calls as of the time of filing this report nor respond to text messages sent to his phone.

Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Femi Joseph who said investigation had commenced into the matter, as he assured that detectives from the state command would rescue the toddler alive

Joseph, however, explained that there was no formal report of the incident from any quarters, based on the understanding between the parent of the missing boy and the church leadership.

The PPRO said the leadership of the Church reported the incident the following day when the father of the missing boy, Temitope Kolawole allegedly mobilized some thugs to the church and destroyed the church property and were about setting the church on fire when police were mobilized to the scene.

He appealed to some of the aggrieved relatives of the victim who invaded the church not to take law into their hands, urging them to allow the security agents to carry out their investigation.
“The boy will surely be rescued but I want to appeal to the parents of the missing boy and their relatives not to take law into their hands,” he said.

Sowore’s Detention: Nobody is safe under ‘tyrannic Buhari govt’ – Fani-Kayode cries out

 November 13, 2019

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has claimed that nobody was safe under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Fani-Kayode was reacting to the continued detention of Omoyele Sowore by the Department of State Services, DSS.

In a tweet, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain lamented that the “monstrous system” voted into power was controlling everything.
He tweeted: “Sad but not surprised that @YeleSowore has not been released by @MBuhari. What some of you helped rig into power in 2015/2019 was a monstrous system. They control EVERYTHING now. They persecuted others &you urged them on. Today not even their friends are safe from their tyranny.”
Sowore is currently held in custody of the secret police against court order.

Last Wednesday, a Federal High Court in Abuja, ordered the release of Sowore alongside Olawale Adebayo.
The DSS was yet to comply with the order and claimed that no surety had come to take Sowore on bail.

Ultra Labs Keto small, so vitamins have gained great popularity. One of the reasons natural supplements are needed today is because our products no longer contain nutrients. Also because of time and convenience, people eat the race. This increases the need for natural supplements. Over many years of practice, as a naturopathic doctor, I have found that sometimes it is better to give natural supplements and allow a person to continue to eat as he used to. I think it’s important to work with people's lifestyles. Changing a person’s lifestyle is sometimes too difficult for that person. In 1940, processed foods made up only 10%

Car bomb kills at least 7 civilians near Interior Ministry in Kabul

At least seven civilians were killed and seven wounded when a car bomb was detonated in the Afghan capital of Kabul during rush hour Wednesday, an interior ministry spokesman said.

The spokesman, Nasrat Rahimi, said the bomb had gone off in a neighborhood that is near the interior ministry and north of Kabul airport.

He said the dead were all civilians, adding, "This is the initial information, more details later."

Nasrat Rahimi added on Twitter that the death toll may change as the target area has not yet been cleared.

At least five children were among the victims, Tolo News reported, citing security sources.

The blast occurred at around 7:25 a.m. local time on Wednesday in the Qasaba area in Police District 15 of Kabul city, where several foreign NGOs are located.

A source at the interior ministry said the blast was detonated by a suicide bomber in the car, and that it was targeting a convoy of foreign advisers with the Interior Ministry. Local media said some vehicles were also damaged following the blast.

No sect has claimed responsibility yet. Both the Taliban and the Islamic State group are active in Kabul, which is one of the deadliest places in the war-torn country for civilians.

The blast came one day after Afghan President Ashraf Ghani announced that Kabul would release three high-ranking Taliban prisoners in an apparent prisoner swap with Western hostages who were kidnapped by the insurgents in 2016.

The three Taliban prisoners include Anas Haqqani, who was seized in 2014 and whose older brother is the deputy Taliban leader and head of the Haqqani network, a notorious Taliban affiliate, Hindustan Times reports.

Ghani did not specify the fate of the Western hostages - an Australian and an American, both professors at the American University in Kabul - and it was not clear when or where they would be freed.

The two, American Kevin King and Australian Timothy Weeks, were kidnapped in August 2016 from the heart of Kabul.

The American hostages later appeared looking haggard in a Taliban hostage video, with the insurgents going on to say that King was in poor health.

Ghani noted in his speech that "their health has been deteriorating while in the custody of the terrorists".

Gani also did not state when or where the Taliban prisoners would be freed. But he said that he hoped the decision would help "pave the way" for the start of unofficial direct talks between his government and the Taliban, who have long refused to negotiate with the administration in Kabul.

Xenophobia: South African artists petition minister of arts and culture kicking against inclusion of Burna Boy at the 'Africa Unite' concert

Some musicians in South Africa under the aegis of Tshwane Collective have sent a petition to the minister of arts and culture, kicking against the inclusion of Burna Boy in the 'Africa Unite' concert scheduled for 23 and 24 November.

The Africans Unite concerts, a response to recent xenophobia in the country is organised by Play Network Africa, based in Nigeria, in partnership with Phambili Media SA and appears to enjoy the support of South Africa’s department of arts and culture.

It will feature, along with Burna Boy, artistes such as Kwesa and Jidenna. The first concert will hold at Hillcrest Quarry in Cape Town on 23 November and the second at Sun Arena, Time Square in Pretoria.

However, the Tshwane Collective questioned the exclusion of local artists and Burna Boy’s invitation to perform at the concert, accusing the African Giant of inciting hatred against South Africa, in the wake of the xenophobic attacks.

Quote:“Whoever may have deemed that the country needs a PR exercise of this nature would have done so largely as a result of the callous, misleading and unwarranted incitement by this very artist. Not only did he spread falsehoods through his extensive platform, he literally incited violence and hate.
He further promised to inflict his own violence on locals before giving your government an ultimatum which you seem to have received and succumbed to”, the group said in the letter to Nathi Mthethwa, minister of art and culture.
The department of culture has however distanced itself from the concert and said that it’s logo had been used “erroneously” on posters advertising the event, Times Live reported.

“The Department of Sports, Arts and Culture wishes to dispel the untrue information currently being spread on social media, that it is funding the Africans Unite Concert featuring the artist known as Burna Boy. It is unfortunate that the department’s logo was erroneously used on the poster advertising the event,” spokesperson Asanda Magaqa told TshisaLIVE.

Asanda said that the department had not allocated or granted funding for the event. “The department wishes to reiterate that it has not allocated or granted any funding to the event in question and any reports to the contrary are entirely false.”

Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin’s Foundation gives out N10.7 Million for members ... As he predicts outcome of Bayelsa Election, storms Malabo for Christ

Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin through his foundation, Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin Foundation (JOFF) gave out a total of N10, 714,000, to members of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry (C.M.D.M), Warri, Delta State, popularly called Mercy City alias ‘The Arena of Solution and Power’.
The gesture saw over 50,000 worshippers’ troop to church despite the heavy rain to attend the service tagged ‘The father’s blessing’. The man of God, Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin had announced that members should come to church to receive N10, 000,000 million naira cash gift.

Theresa Moses, the Church’s publicist, said Prophet Omoto-Fufeyin explains that sacrifice breaks protocol; the father’s blessings need an action to cause a reaction. “A sister to the wife of a top politician in Nigeria challenged my God that if she is able to get married pledge to give my God the sum of N10,000,000 million naira. I also promised that when she fulfills her vow I will share the money among members of the church.
“My God answered her and she got married. When it was time to redeem her vow she said until she gets pregnant. I called upon my God and He answered me. She got pregnant and delivered successfully like a Hebrew woman. She came to testify to what God has done but refused to fulfill her vow”.
Reading from the Book of Ecclesiastes 5:5 NIV which says: “It is better not to make a vow than to make one and not fulfill it. Since the woman refused to fulfill her vow, I decided to fulfill my own pledge because my God has blessed me more than N10, 000,000 million naira; money is not my problem”.

The money, according to Theresa Moses, was distributed through scratch card. What you scratch is what you win. But workers of the ministry are not eligible to partake in the exercise. After distributing the scratch card for almost two hours, over 405 persons got cash gifts in naira and dollars while others were; Go to the mountain, you’re victorious, be prayerful, amongst others.
According to the church’s Publicist, five persons received N200, 000 each, 10 persons received N100, 000 each, 20 persons received N50, 000 each, 200 persons received N25, 000 each, 66 persons received N15, 000 each, 100 persons received N10, 000 respectively while those with; meet Prophet Jeremiah for your blessings, 5 persons received $400 each.
During the church service the famous clergy prayed for peaceful election in Bayelsa and Kogi states this weekend as he predicts the outcome of the election. “The same way I reveal the secret on the postponement of the presidential election early this year, it’s the same way I’m telling you; they will end up in court” he said.

It could be recalled that his predictions early this year over the postponement of the general election and the outcome of the election went viral like wildfire. On the 7th of February, 2019 the Tireless General Overseer as he’s fondly called prophesied that the 2019 general election will be postponed.
The famous prophet known for his giving storms West Central African Country, Malabo, Equatorial Guinea for a 3-days prophetic crusade; Theme: Lazarus is not Dead, John 11:1-44. The crusade kicks off tomorrow, Thursday 14th through Saturday, 16 November, 2019 at the National Park, Malabo (Parque Nacional De Malabo). 3:00 pm daily C.A.T. Come and experience the power of God like never before.

DSS must stop display of naked power and release Sowore now – Wole Soyinka

DSS must stop display of naked power and release Sowore now –  Wole Soyinka

Professor Wole Soyinka has warned the Department of State Services, DSS, to stop the charade and display of ''crude and naked power'' by releasing the Convener, #RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore still being kept in their custody despite meeting his stringent bail conditions.

Operatives of the DSS had on Tuesday fired gun shots and used pepper spray to disperse protesters who were gathered around the service headquarters to demand for the release of Sowore.

According to a report by PM News, Soyinka, in a statement he personally issued late Tuesday night also said it should become abundantly clear by now that Civil Society Organisations, committed to the entrenchment of the Rule of Law and the defence of fundamental human rights must come together.
Read the statement below

Quote:“This is not a new cry. They must meet, debate, and embark on a binding pact of tactical responses whenever these two pillars of civilized society are besieged by the demolition engines of state security agencies. The sporadic, uncoordinated responses as in the case of  Omoyele Sowore, the absence of a solid strategy, ready to be activated against any threat these continue to enable these agencies in their mission to enthrone a pattern of conduct that openly scoffs at the role of the judiciary in national life.
“Result? A steady entrenchment of the cult of impunity in the dealings of state with the citizenry both individuals and organizations. The level of arrogance has crossed even the most permissive thresholds. It is heart-warming to witness the determined efforts of “Concerned Nigerians” in defence of these rights,” he said.
Quote:“Why the desperation? The answer is straightforward: the government never imagined that the bail conditions for Sowore would ever be met. Even Sowore’s supporters despaired. The bail test was clearly set to fail!  It took a while for the projection to be reversed, and it left the DSS floundering.
“That agency then resorted to childish, cynical lies. It claimed that the ordered release was no longer in their hands, but in Sowore’s end of the transfer. The lie being exploded, what next? Bullets of course,” he said.
Quote:“As I remarked from the onset, this is an act of government insecurity and paranoia that merely defeats its real purpose. And now – bullets?  This is no longer comical. Perhaps it is necessary to remind this government of precedents in other lands where, even years after the event, those who trampled on established human rights that generate homicidal impunity are called to account for abuse of power and crimes against humanity.
“The protests for Sowore’s release go beyond only acts of solidarity, they are manifestations of the judgment and authority of courts of law, under which this nation is supposedly governed. Either it is, or it isn’t. The answer stares us all in the face. The principles that now fall under threat implicate more than one individual under travail. They involve the very entitlement of a nation to lay claim to membership of any democratic, humanized union,” he said.
Quote: “Enough of this charade, nothing more than a display of crude, naked power. Release Omoyele Sowore and save us further embarrassment in the regard of the world. An apology to the nation by the DSS and the judiciary would also not be out of place. It would go some distance in redeeming the image of an increasingly fascistic agency and reduce the swelling tide of public disillusionment.  “Let the rule of law reign. Failing that, have the honesty to proclaim the death of ordered society. Then we’ll all know just where we stand.”

Don’t shrink the democratic space - Atiku warns lawmakers promoting anti-hate speech bill

The 2019 Presidential candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has warned the promoters of anti-hate speech bill to think twice as they might be shrinking the democratic space.

Recall LIB reported that the anti-hate speech bill which proposes death by hanging for those found guilty of such and establishment of a commission for the prohibition of hate speech in the country, passed its first reading on Tuesday November 12.

Atiku who reacted to the development in a statement released by his spokesperson Paul Ibe, stated that the contemplation of such laws is in itself not just hate speech but an abuse of the legislative process that will violate Nigerians’ constitutionally guaranteed right to Freedom of Speech.

Quote:“The contemplation of such laws is in itself not just hate speech, but an abuse of the legislative process that will violate Nigerians’ constitutionally guaranteed right to Freedom of Speech,” he said.
“Atiku urges those behind this Bill to awake to the fact that Nigeria’s democracy has survived its longest incarnation, because those who governed this great nation between 1999 and 2015 never toyed with this most fundamental of freedoms.
“It is prudent to build upon the tolerance inherited from those years and not shrink the democratic space to satisfy personal and group interests.”

Atiku pointed out that Nigeria is facing numerous challenges and also urged the lawmakers to channel their energy into finding solutions to make the country better.

Quote:“Again, Atiku cautions that we must prioritise our challenges ahead of the whims and caprices of those who do not like to hear the inconvenient truth. Stop this folly and focus on issues that matter to Nigerians,” the statement added.

The Kaduna State Police Command has rescued a woman who was locked up in a dark room by her biological brother for two years.

The police and an NGO, Arida Relief Foundation found the lady identified as Hassana Sale in a sad state in the room she was locked up in at Rigasa area of Kaduna by her brother Lawal Sale who never wanted her to go back to her ex-husband who divorced her. He has however been arrested.

Hajiya Rabi Salisu, founder of the NGO said Hassana became depressed after she got divorced but always visited her matrimonial home to see her four children.

Quote:“She visits the children on daily basis, so the elder brother and some of her relatives decided to lock her up in a dark room for two years so that she will not go back to her ex-husband.
“We have taken her to the hopital and when she becomes stable, she would be handed over to the state Ministry of Human Service and Social Development to pursue the matter,” she said.

APC suspends Adams Oshiomhole following 'vote of no confidence' in Edo State

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State has suspended the National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, over his role in the crisis rocking the state chapter of the party.

The decision followed the vote of no confidence passed on Comrade Oshiomhole by the Chairmen of the APC in the 18 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Edo State.

According to a statement signed by Edo APC Chairman, Anselm Ojezua and Assistant State Secretary, Ikuenobe Anthony, “consequent on the development, the State Executive Committee has adopted the vote of no confidence passed on him and the subsisting suspension order from the organs of the party in the state.”

They said the decision was necessary to prevent a repeat of what happened in Zamfara State, where the party was unable to field any candidate in elections.

Quote:“Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is the one behind the crisis in Edo APC. We have passed a vote of no confidence on him and he stands suspended from the party. We don’t want what happened in Zamfara State or other parts of the country to happen in Edo State.”

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

WEDNESDAY, 1³TH NOVEMBER.

FOLLOW THE DIVINE PLAN

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth (John 4:24).

In all things, it’s important to know God’s will and be sure you’re serving Him the way He wants, and not according to your own opinions or the ideas of men. He wants us to serve and worship Him according to His plans and purposes in His Word.

Recall the story of Cain and Abel. Abel brought to God the sacrifice that God demanded, while Cain brought the sacrifice he chose to give to God (Genesis 4:3-7); these are two different things.
In walking with God, you must follow His prescribed order. He said to Moses, “…make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.

According to all that I shew thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle…” (Exodus 25:8-9). It always has to be according to His plan. Jesus said, “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24).

It’s clear how you’re to worship God: it’s by the Spirit and in accordance with His Word. To do it any other way would be to deviate from His plan. It’s like what happened when David needed to move the ark of God into the city of David. He got a new cart, and two men, Uzzah and Ahio rode in the cart together with the ark (2 Samuel 6:3).

As they journeyed, suddenly, the oxen pulling the cart stumbled and the cart shook. Uzzah tried to stop the ark from tipping over and when he did, he died instantly. David was terrified by what happened and in his quest for answers, he found out in the Scriptures that only the priests were qualified to carry or touch the ark of God in the Old Testament (1 Chronicles 15:2).

David realized the error and enlightened the people, saying to the priests, “For because ye did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order” (1 Chronicles 15:13).

God’s things are to be done God’s way; follow His plans and you’ll experience His grace and blessings in your life and ministry.

PRAYER

Dear Father, there’s none like you; from generation to generation, you’re God. I worship and adore you today, for your love, grace, mercy, and kindness. Thank you for the ministry of the Holy Spirit in my life. Thank you, for the written Word given to me, to inform, enlighten, teach, and to instruct me in righteousness. I honour you, in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ and will walk in your prescribed order and purpose. Amen.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

13TH NOVEMBER.

I affirm that God has made my life pleasant; I am a delightsome land, a tree of righteousness, and I am producing fruits of righteousness.

I am like a well-watered garden, fruitful at all times. I am the fruit-bearing part of God’s vine, I produce durable fruits. Hallelujah! I am in sync with the Father; therefore, my words are spirit, and they are life. They are infused with power and divine energy to prevail over circumstances.

The words of Christ dwell in me richly, in all wisdom, and spiritual understanding. I am in charge now and always, and my words are filled with inspiration, grace, healing, comfort, hope, love, and power, hallelujah! My words bring deliverance to every creation in my world, taking them out of bondage and corruption, into the glorious liberty of the sons of God.

I am a saviour from Zion; filled with divine energy to take God's divine presence to the nations, and the people of the earth, demonstrating the character of the Spirit. I am a voice in my world; none of my words falls to the ground without results.

Today, I speak words of life to every creation around me for these are the days of the manifestation of the sons of God! Glory to God. Hallelujah!

Policeman Caught Supplying Tramadol To Boko Haram

Quote:The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Yobe said it had arrested a policeman and a drug trafficker (names with held) who allegedly connived and supplied 59kg of prohibited Tramadol tablets to Boko Haram insurgents in Gwoza, Borno State.

NDLEA state Commander, Mr. Reuben Apeh, while addressing newsmen in Damaturu, said the suspects were arrested on November 7.

Apeh said the drug trafficker had confessed to buying the prohibited substance from an unnamed Customs officer in Lagos.

“He confessed hiring the policeman to convey the drugs to Maiduguri before proceeding to Gwoza to supply suspected terrorists.

“He claimed that the drugs were part of consignments seized by the Nigerian Customs during its operations in Lagos, and were sold to him at the cost of N6m, while the actual market value was N24m.

“We are still working on him to provide us with the details of the alleged Customs officer and another accomplice he claimed was based in Ijora, Lagos.

“The drugs were transported from Lagos to Jos, and handed over to the policeman for delivery to Maiduguri, where he (trafficker ) will take it to suspected terrorists in Gwoza,” Apeh said.

He said the suspects would soon be charged to court with the exhibits.

The Commander appealed to other stakeholders and the public to collaborate with the agency in curbing the menace of drug trafficking and consumption.

Apeh also commended his personnel for their incorruptible stand and firm dedication to duty, saying “you have done the command and the agency proud.”

Air Peace has brought in a Boeing 737-800 New Generation to sustain its expansion, domestic and regional operations.

The aircraft arrived the Murtala Muhammed International Airport  at the weekend from Europe.

Disclosing this to reporters, a Corporate Communications Executive of the airline, Mr. Stanley Olisa, stated that the new arrival is a 160- seater aircraft comprising 16 Business Class seats and 144 economy class seats.

He said: “We are very glad to announce the acquisition of another aircraft, which is a 160-seater B737-800 New Generation aircraft.”

He said the resolve of the airline is to spread its operations across the length and breath of the country to ease the burden of travel within the country and the West African sub region.

Air Peace last year became the first airline in sub-Saharan Africa to place an order for 10 B737 Max.

The airline, earlier this year,  ordered 20 brand new 124-seater E195-E2 jets from Embraer, thereby making history as the launch customer of this new aircraft .

In 2017, Air Peace became the first airline to acquire and register a Boeing 777 in Nigeria.

It later acquired three more 777s for its international operations, which started on July 5, last year, with flights to Dubai through the Sharjah International Airport.

The airline said soon it will take on more international routes — London, Houston, Johannesburg, Bombay and Guangzhou.

The airline management thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for creating the enabling environment.

Olisa said: “Our Chairman, Mr. Allen Onyema, is eternally grateful to President Buhari for making it possible for Air Peace to become what she is within the four years of President Buhari’s regime through the zero tax regime on imported commercial aircraft and aircraft spares introduced by his administration.’’

Bridging aviation manpower shortage

Global bodies are thinking out of the box on ways of addressing the looming manpower shortage in the air transport industry. They are pushing for the implementation of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Next Generation of Aviation Professionals  (NGAP) programme for member-states, including Nigeria,  KELVIN OSA OKUNBOR reports.

Ageing workforce is becoming a hydra-headed problem in the global air transport industry. To this end, the over 193 member-state of the International Air Transport Association (ICAO) is being forced to return to the drawing board.

For instance, it is feared that crisis may be looming in the sector as there may not be enough pilots, aircraft engineers, avionics technicians and other professionals to cater to the needs of the projected increase in airlines.

Besides professionals in the employ of airlines, global concerns are also being raised about ageing workforce and shortage of air traffic controllers in Nigeria and other countries.

Experts say statistics from ICAO and other groups indicate that unless urgent steps are taken, the global industry may be heading for the rocks because of inadequate and ageing work force to drive growth.

Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Director of Operations and Training Captain Abdulahi Sidi said the industry was facing a huge manpower challenge because the demand for professionals would exceed supply.

He listed the factors responsible as retirement, lack of attraction of employers to potential candidates,  competition with other sectors for skilled employees, insufficient training to meet demand, learning methodologies not responsive to evolving learning styles, accessibility to affordable training and little or no awareness by the next generation of the professionals available.

Citing ICAO statistics, Captain Sidi said global airlines will, in the next 10 years, add 25,000 new aircraft to the  11,000-strong commercial fleet.

He said by 2026, the industry would need 480,000 technicians to maintain the fleet of aircraft expected to be flown by over 350,000 pilots.

He said ICAO was worried over the trend and had designed a solution .

Sidi said: ” ICAO’s solution was the establishment of the Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP) taskforce.

“This taskforce consists of 29 representatives from industry, education and training providers, regulatory bodies and international organisations. This taskforce will help to ensure enough qualified and competent aviation professionals are available to operate manage and maintain the future international air transport system.

“A global aviation community that has sufficient competent human resources to support a safe and sustainable air transport system.

“To develop strategies, best practices, tools, standards and guidelines as applicable and to facilitate information-sharing activities to assist the global aviation community in attracting educating, and retaining the next generation of aviation professionals.

“The lack of succession plan and its mitigation is the bane of aging workforce. Serving aviation professionals should see to it that their subordinates are exposed to every aspect of their job as features successor.

It has become incumbent on operators, governments and stakeholders  to sponsor training of candidates pursuing aviation careers.

Against this backdrop, a firm, Mamaj Aviation Consult Limited, has put together a career conference in Lagos, with the theme: “Inspiring the Next Generation of aviation professionals”, to examine the challenges of ageing work force.

The convener, Joy Ogbebo, said one way to address the  shortage of aviation professionals was for countries and organisations to initiate the mentoring of the younger generation to attract them to the sector.

She said the forum highlighted the strategic role human capital development could play in the industry. Ogbebo said the conference also provided an avenue to examine the role of career guidance in capacity building as well as introduce youths to career opportunities in the aviation industry.

Ogbebo said the conference created a platform to introduce aspiring aviators to career choices and assist them to identify the key skills set required as well as connect them with relevant aviation training organisations.

She said it was time the government  and some of her agencies, including the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), started investing in training and education of youths.

Ogbebo said it was late for the country to invest in the training of younger aviation professionals .

She said: “We need to start investing in the career development of our youth to channel their interest into aviation professions, including piloting, cabin crew, air traffic control services, flight dispatchers, avionics technicians, aero -medical personnel, airline economists and other endeavours.

” We need to take proactive steps to develop human capital. There is no better time to invest in the next generation of aviation professionals than now. If we must have a better future , we must create it. The time is now. What should we do? We need aviation universities where out youth can kick start their journey into the aviation industry in their early stages. We need to focus more on career guidance from secondary school.”

A market forecast by Airbus indicated that Africa would need 1,000 commercial jets and 21,700 new pilots in the next 20 years.

American aircraft manufacturer  Boeing Company estimated that Africa would demand 18,000 new pilots and 22,000 technicians over the same period.

Studies indicate that in the next 20 years, new aircraft will need to be commanded by qualified pilots and maintained by skilled technicians as well as competent air traffic controllers.

Experts at the Aviation Professionals Forum in Africa called on airline executives and African aviation authorities to take urgent steps to address insufficient training capacity as well as an exodus of skilled manpower as part of the reasons for the shortage of aviation professionals in Africa.

ICAO Secretary-General, Fang Liu said: “All of us in Africa are concerned. But to further develop aviation, human capacity is key. As we know there a gap between the number of professionals sought and the training capacity in particular in Africa.  Taking all these into consideration, the need for capacity building has become necesary. If the necesary manpower must be made ready for the future of aviation, then the need for capacity building as a proactive step has become necessary. “A few weeks ago, National President of National Association of Air Traffic Controllers (NATCA), Abayomi Agoro called on Federal Government  to increase the retirement age of air traffic controllers from 60 to 65 years to give room for newly recruited ones to catch up from the old hands before leaving the system.

He said : “What ICAO stipulated was  about 700 air traffic controllers and, as at that time, I don’t think we had up to 27 airports and airfields. Some states are still trying to build new airports, so, it means that the less than 350 air traffic controllers is inadequate and we also try as much as possible to tell the government to increase the retirement age of air traffic controllers from 60 to 65 to bring balance.”

He noted that the number of ATCS in the country was not enough to man the various airports across the country, but commended the management of NAMA for recruiting more ATCs in recent years, saying that the country’s airspace remained one of the safest in the world.

“I don’t want the government to leave everything in the hands of NAMA. For example, we are trying to let the government understand that there is need to give NAMA additional funds to train not only air traffic controllers, but also the technical professionals in the agency, whereby maybe they should get some allocations from BASA fund. There is the need for human capital development and NAMA alone cannot shoulder the responsibility. So, I feel the government should do that maybe by allocating a special fund dedicated for training mostly the technical staff . ”

He said a special fund dedicated to  training of mostly technical staff would further enhance safety.

Alibaba sets eyes on $15 bn Hong Kong listing

Chinese online retail titan Alibaba is hoping to raise up to $15 billion in a Hong Kong IPO, a report said Friday, which would be the city’s biggest listing for nine years.
The share sale by Asia’s biggest company would also come as Hong Kong authorities battle months of sometimes violent protests that have dented the financial hub’s economy and reputation.

Alibaba is looking to scoop up between $10 billion and $15 billion in the initial public offering, Bloomberg News cited unnamed sources as saying, and is looking to hold a hearing into the move — as mandated by the Hong Kong exchange rules — next week.

The firm declined to comment on the report when contacted by AFP.

Alibaba, which is already listed on New York’s Nasdaq, had planned to list in the summer but called it off owing to the city’s long-running pro-democracy demonstrations and the China-US trade war.

If realised, the $15 billion IPO would be the biggest since insurance giant AIA garnered $20.5 billion in 2010. However, it is lower than the $20 billion it had aimed to raise initially.

A second listing in Hong Kong would also curry favour with Beijing, which has sought to encourage its current and future big tech firms to list nearer to home after the loss of companies such as Alibaba and Baidu to Wall Street.

Mainland authorities have stepped up moves to attract such firms including launching a new technology board in Shanghai in July.

The Sci-Tech Innovation Board was launched as a battle with the United States for technological supremacy heated up, with Chinese President Xi Jinping calling on tech leaders to become global champions, while the US has fought back in part by taking steps to clip the wings of Chinese telecom giant Huawei.

Alibaba has capitalised on the Chinese consumer’s love of e-commerce to dominate the sector in China and become one of the world’s most valuable companies.

Police foil attempt by robbers to attack CBN in Benin

on
 November 12, 2019

Police in Benin City on Tuesday evening, repelled an attempt by armed robbers to attack the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Benin branch.
The ugly incident, which happened at King Square (the city center), saw the attempt by the robbery gang trying to break into the bank when a bullion van carrying cash to an unknown commercial bank was about leaving the CBN premises.

The hoodlums were, however, repelled by the armed police security team attached to the bank.

The exchange of gunfire between the bank security and the robbers that lasted few minutes forced the robbers to retreat and escaped, while people and motorists around scampered for safety.

An eyewitness told DAILY POST that luck ran out of the robbers who may have been prepared for the worse.

“Bros, the robbers were ready for anything but the police also showed them that they were super ready for them.

“You can see how unusual the environment is for now, this whole place was locked down, traffic was heavy here due to the attack. How can robbers come to this place, the centre of our capital city, place like Ring Road.

I think the state government has to do something about the security of this state, especially now that Xmas is around the corner, thank God that no casualty was recorded in gun duel.
Our correspondent reports that, more policemen had been drafted in to beef up security around the CBN.

The State Commissioner of Police, Danmallam Mohammed and the command spokesperson, Mr. Chidi Nwabuzor, could not be reached for comment at the time of filling this report.

Quote:The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo has expelled its former Governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

It said the expulsion was informed by the unwillingness of Ize-Iyamu to confirm or refute his rumoured defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The statement reads: “In the last few days, the Edo PDP has been inundated with calls and enquiries regarding the stories trending both in print and social media as it concerns one of our leaders, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

“The party leadership has patiently waited to hear or read his reaction to confirm or deny the stories, but to no avail.

“We boast of being a party of men and women of integrity and high moral standing. It is a brand we have earned and wish to maintain.

“As a result of the “uneasy quiet” from our dear pastor and the impression our silence will send to our teeming supporters and followers, Edo PDP is left with no option but to announce the EXCLUSION of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu from all PDP related activities with immediate effect, until he Acknowledges, Accepts and Addresses the issue of his decamping to APC.

“This decision has been taken without prejudice!

Parents who killed their two sons and tried to kill their four other children are jailed for life as it's revealed they are siblings and were in incestuous relationship

A woman and her half-brother have been jailed for life for killing their two sons and trying to kill four other children they had through an incestuous relationship.

Sarah Barrass and her half-brother Brandon Machin had six children together but tried to murder them all rather than hand them over to the care system.

The couple's two eldest sons Blake, 14 and Tristan, 13, were found dead on their bunk beds at home in Sheffield when police arrived in May.

[Image: 5dcadaa5d7b5a.PNG]Blake Barrass

Tristan Barrass

It was later discovered that they had been strangled and suffocated by Barrass and Machin, while the other kids had been drugged. This was an effort by the siblings to stop their kids from being taken into care.

Barrass, 35, and Machin, 39, were today both jailed for life and ordered to serve at least 35 years behind bars before they can apply for parole.

The court heard how the siblings hatched a plan to kill all of their six children. Sheffield Crown Court heard today that they grabbed Blake and Tristan, with Machin strangling Blake whilst Barrass strangled Tristan, using a dressing gown cord. The pair then swapped victims and placed black bin liners over their heads "to make sure" they were dead.

She then portioned out ADHD medication to the youngest children.

The court heard that Barrass expected them to die during the night and she even took to Facebook to make posts that the children had caught a sickness bug.

When the children survived the night Barrass called Machin at his home nearby and they carried out their murderous plan in the early morning of May 25th. When both Blake and Tristan were dead, Barrass and Machin tried to drown one of the younger children in the bath, but he somehow managed to struggle free.

Barrass later called the police and tried to blame Machin for the murders of Blake and Tristan. However, when police arrived she initially told them that the boys were not in the house. It was one of the younger children who gestured to officers that the boys were dead by drawing a finger across his throat.

The younger children, despite vomiting and suffering hallucinations, survived the attempt to kill them and recovered in intensive care.

Machin later told police that the murders were Barrass's idea, claiming in interview that she said: "They need to die now, I'd rather kill them and kill myself than lose them to care. I gave them life and I can take it away."

Barrass later told the police in interview that she had strangled Tristan for up to three minutes whilst he shouted "stop" and his arms and legs were thrashing. Blake came into the room and was screaming "Mum is killing Tristan", the court was told.

Also in police interview, Barrass told how she tried to drown one of her younger children in the bath. She said: "He was struggling and crying and screaming why are you trying to kill me?"

The court heard that Barrass initially requested help with her children from the local authority.

The mother-of-six reportedly sent a message to a friend, in which she said: "I've thought of every possible solution to this mess. Mass murder, putting them all in care, checking in to the local nut house.

"I love my kids too much to kill them, I can't put them into care for the same reason."

Mourning the slain brothers who were buried in a shared coffin, the boys' young cousin, Storm said at their funeral: "I know this is a sad time but, in my heart, I will always remember my cousins. I know they will always be waiting for me at heaven's door."

20-year-old Nigerian boy arrested for allegedly killing his mother in US hotel room

A 20-year-old University of Texas student, Eyitoluwa Olayeye, has been arrested by the Austin Police Department for reportedly killing his mother.

Eyitoluwa was arrested after the police responded to a emergency call made by the Holiday Inn Express at 805 Neches St. just before 5 a.m. on Wednesday November 6.

48-year-old Kehinde Olayeye had flown to Austin from Georgia with her sister to visit Eyitoluwa on Tuesday November 5, after he was released from Dell Seton medical center where he underwent a psychiatric evaluation for touching someone inappropriately at University of Texas library.

Kehinde's sister told the police that the suspect kept saying "I pray that God brings us together" on phone before his friends told his mother what happened on campus, prompting the unplanned visit to Austin. His aunt also said Eyitoluwa told them that the hospital was trying to hold him because of a mental issue, but he "just told them what they wanted to hear so they would let him go."

A security guard at the Holiday Inn told investigators he heard loud noises coming from Eyitoluwa's room around 4:30 a.m and asked them to keep it down. But he said the noises grew louder and it sounded like people were fighting and banging on the wall.

The policemen found him lying on the back of his mother who was face down on the floor.  “A bloody pillow was observed inside the room,” the affidavit revealed.  Austin-Travis County EMS medics tried to resuscitate Kehinde Olayeye but she was pronounced dead at 6:12 a.m.

Eyitoluwa who had wounds on his left elbow and bicep, a swelling on the right side of his face and a bruise on the inside of his right bicep told the police he is a junior at UT and went to class on Tuesday. He told investigators he was in class at UT on Tuesday, played basketball at the rec center, and then went to the UT Tower to pray.

The University of Texas student also told investigators that he remembered being taken to the hotel by his aunt and mother, lying on the bed with his mother who prayed for him before finding himself at the back of a police car with no idea of how he got there.

He however told the police hospital staff that he has never been diagnosed as bipolar or manic. When told his mother was dead, he allegedly said he must have killed her because "no one else was there."

Eyitoluwa Olayeye is currently charged with aggravated assault and a second-degree felony as it was further gathered that his late mother suffered a deep skull hemorrhaging, hemorrhaging around the neck, lacerations to her inner mouth and petechial hemorrhaging, as well as soft signs of strangulation.

Fifteen more shops belonging to Nigerians were shutdown yesterday by members of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) at Opera Square in Accra, bringing the number of shops to about 70.

The latest showdown is part of GUTA’s plan to cripple Nigerian businesses in the nation’s capital.

Nigerian businesses at the Tip Toe Lane at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle are believed to be the next in line, as it was gathered that GUTA plans to lock up the Nigerian shops in the area today.

The national president of the Nigerian Union of Traders Association in Ghana (NUTAG), Chukwuemeka Nnaji, has advised his members to close their shops today to avoid destruction of their goods and businesses.

Meanwhile, the timely intervention of police officers and the Nigerian Mission in Ghana averted a major clash between members of GUTA and NUTAG yesterday.

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have dispersed protesters who stormed its Abuja headquarters over the continued detention of the convener of #RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore.

The protesters, led by activist Deji Adeyanju, were dispersed on Tuesday as they were rounding off the protest.

Mr Adeyanju was addressing the media when a truck full of DSS officers arrived.

One of them shot in the air while another used pepper spray to force those who were seated to flee, leaving behind their placards, shoes, and other personal items.

Igbere TV reports that Adeyanju alleged that he was offered the sum of N1 million to suspend the protest.

He displayed the money which he claimed was offered to him at gunpoint.

The activist, however, did not reveal the names of the persons who offered the money.

Sowore is in the custody of the DSS on charges of treasonable felony and other sundry offences.

After anti-social media bill, senate proposes new law against 'Hate Speech'

A bill to set up a commission for the prohibition of hate speeches has been introduced on the floor of the Senate. The Bill which is sponsored by the former Senate spokesman, Senator Abdullahi Sabi, is listed on the order paper and passed first reading on Tuesday, November 12th.

Just last week, the Senate passed through first reading the Protection from internet falsehood and manipulations Bill 2019. The proposed legislation seeks to prevent the spreading and broadcasting of falsehood and manipulations using social media platforms via internet broadcasts and transmissions.

This Bill is reminiscent of the Social Media Bill which was introduced in the eight assembly but was not passed because of widespread condemnation of the bill which some Nigerians felt was intended to stifle freedom of expression.

A businessman identified as Osondu Nwachukwu, has been killed by his abductors despite receiving a ransom for his release in Nasarawa State.

Nwachukwu’s family in an interview called for more government action at the state and federal levels in tackling the security challenges bedevilling the country. Nwachukwu, aged 55, resided in Nasarawa for over 30 years and was a sachet water seller who used his apartment for residential purpose and production point.

His pastor, Reverend Father Joshua Obile, described him as a peace-loving man whose major concern was to provide for his family. The clergyman said, “He doesn’t like trouble with anyone, you hardly see him exchanging words with people.

Nwachukwu was seized from his residence on October 30 by suspected robbers who dispossessed him of cash, valuables, and documents of his house. After several days in captivity, a ransom of N20 million was demanded and after several pleas, it was reduced to N10 million and further down to N40,000, which was paid.   Winners Pastor, Moses Oyeleke Kidnapped By Boko Haram Is Released After 6 Months
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 11-12-2019, 01:52 PM - No Replies

Pastor Moses Oyeleke, a cleric with Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel), #Maiduguri, #BornoState, has regained his freedom, after six months in Boko Haram’s captivity.

The pastor and a National Youth Service Corps member, Abraham Amuta, were abducted in May, 2019, while on their way to Chibok to distribute relief items to Internally Displaced Persons and evangelize.

Oyeleke who was abducted alongside a corps member in the southern part of Borno on April 10 by Boko Haram and released on Sunday evening, said he was almost executed by the insurgents during his nearly seven-month stay in his abductors’ camp.

“My survival is an act of God. I was almost executed by the Boko Haram. They told us one day they were going to kill us but they changed their mind later,” he told our correspondent shortly after he and another teenage school girl, Ndagilaya Ibrahim Umar were handed over to the Borno government by the Department of State Service (DSS).

He, however, said the insurgents did not manhandle him. “They didn’t manhandle me; they gave me foods but often times I didn’t eat. I was always praying and fasting.

“They asked me to stop my prayers and be praying like them. I told them it is the same prayers we are doing together to same God and since it is the same God that owns all of us. So they left me,” he explained.

He also said he was always attentive anytime the insurgents preach to him and never argued with them or ask questions, a development which made one of them developed interest in him.

He disclosed that the National Youth Service (NYSC) Corps member abducted with him was still with the insurgents, calling for prayers for his release too.

While recalling how he and the corps member were kidnapped by Boko Haram, he disclosed that the incident occurred a few metres to a deserted petrol station near Bama in the central part of Borno.

“We were going to Chibok on that day and as we were approaching the bridge, few metres away from a deserted petrol, the insurgents ambushed us,” he explained. He said they were driven into Sambisa bush where he spent most part of the seven months.

Fourteen years old Ndagilaya Ibrahim Umar, said she was 13 when the insurgents abducted her. She was abducted in her village near Lassa at Askira/Uba Local Government. She was a student at the Government Science Secondary School, Askira Uba.

“I spent nine months with them (Boko Haram), ” she disclosed. She said she was neither violated nor given to any of the insurgents as was often the case with Boko Haram. “I saw some young girls being given in marriage by Boko Haram,” she said.

The release was negotiated by some local non-governmental organisations.

“We have been working hard to secure their release but thank God today they have been set free. We went through processes before we secured their release,” Kalthum Umar, founder of Kalthum Foundation for Peace said.

Borno State deputy governor, Usman Kadafur, while receiving the released victims commanded the security operatives and the local NGOs.

Our correspondent learnt that the processes for securing the release of the pastor and teenager was initiated by the state government and ransom allegedly paid to Boko Haram

According to reports, he was freed yesterday, while Abraham remains in captivity allegedly because the abductors said he is “stubborn” to them. However, he is expected to also regain his freedom in December.

After being released, Pastor Oyeleke headed to church to give praises to God and he is now safely at home.

2023 presidency: Arewa youths reveal what will be done to stop Buhari’s alleged third term

The Arewa Youths Consultative Forum, AYCF, has warned against any attempt by President Muhammadu Buhari to push for a third term in office.
In an interview with DAILY POST, AYCF President General, Yerima Shettima warned that they would mobilise and ensure that such move does not “see the light of the day.”

Shettima’s comment is coming when there are claims that Buhari may push for a third term.
There have been calls by certain groups for Buhari to extend his tenure beyond 2023.

Also, Femi Falana, an activist lawyer had alleged that Buhari was secretly working towards a third term agenda.

However, the AYCF President warned that such a move would suffer the same fate as that of former President, Olusegun Obasanjo.

He said: “We are aware that certain things are going on in this government. We are aware that the issue of third term agenda is ongoing but the government has not come out openly to say that there was such plan or not.

“The rumour of the third term is everywhere and it will die just like Obasanjo’s third term bid because we are determined to mobilise and ensure that the issue of third-term does not see the light of the day.”

Poultry Farmers Beg President Buhari Not To Re-Open Borders
User Avatar Forum: Market Place
Posted by: Edoman - 11-12-2019, 12:07 PM - No Replies

Quote:Poultry farmers and other stakeholders in the industry have given their support to the policy of the President Buhari-led administration on the closure of the country’s land borders. They also pleaded that the borders should be permanently closed. This, according to them, would drive the nation’s economic growth and food sufficiency.

Speaking during the opening ceremony of this year’s Nigeria Poultry Show organised by the Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN), the poultry farmers said that Nigeria could only get better with the border closure, as it would equally boost sales and production in the industry.

While giving his address on the theme, “Nigeria Poultry Industry: Managing the Value chain for National Development,” the President of PAN, Ezekiel Ibrahim supported the border closure, saying that it would translate into greater employment opportunities in Nigeria.

Poultry industry saves N50 billion due to border closure

Represented by the National Secretary, Prince Joseph Aladesuyi, Ibrahim cautioned PAN members against unwholesome practices and unnecessary increase in prices of products, as he appealed to them not to do anything that could frustrate the gains of the border closure.

He also called on the Federal Government to alleviate the sufferings farmers encounter due to high interest rates from banks.

“I also want to appeal to the Federal Government basically on behalf of the Nigerian farmers. We are suffering because of the high interest rate from our banks. We appreciate the ongoing Anchor Borrowers programmes but it does not go to all farmers. Please, the Federal, State and Local Governments, your interest is very important in the poultry value chain in Nigeria,” the PAN president said.

The plea of the poultry farmers did not come as a surprise as Nairametrics recently reported that the border closure had saved the local poultry industry more than N50 billion since its commencement.

Before now, Nigeria consumed two million tons of poultry yearly, 70% of which was imported. However, this is not the case anymore as the border closure has helped to reduce the high consumption of imported poultry.

Edo PDP Group Suspends Dokpesi, Ikimi, Braimoh, Oghiadohme, Others
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 11-12-2019, 12:05 PM - No Replies

Quote:A group in the Peoples Democratic Party, Edo State under the aegis of the PDP Integrity Group on Monday announced the suspension of a former Foreign Affairs Minister, Chief Tom Ikimi; a former Chief of Staff to the President, Chief Mike Oghiadomhe; and former Minister of Works, Mike Oghiadomhe, from the party for alleged anti-party activities.

Also suspended are Chief Raymond Dokpesi, Senator Yisa Braimoh, Senator Victor Oyofo and a former leader of the House of Representatives, Tunde Akogun.

The group, in a communique jointly signed by former Chairman, Nigeria Football Association, Jarret Tenebe; and a former chairman, Owan West Local Government Area, Dan Asekhema, after a stakeholders’ meeting held in Benin, passed a vote of confidence in the Chief Dan Orbih-led PDP in the state.

The meeting was attended by the PDP leaders across the 18 local government areas of the state.

It stated that the state executive council and the ones in the 18 LGAs would be given six months extension to enable them to conduct the governorship primaries.

“We, the Edo PDP Integrity Group, also announce the adoption of a former governor of the state, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, as the leader of our party in Edo State,” the communiqué read.

But the state Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Chris Nehikhare, said he was not aware of “any group that goes by the name PDP Integrity Group,” saying whatever statement that had been released or issued by the group should be disregarded.

He said, “We frown on their audacity to suspend or even say they are suspending respected leaders of our party especially as they lack such powers.

“They are not members of any organ of our party and as such cannot issue statements or releases on behalf of the PDP.”

Fuel Scarcity Hits Ogun, Lagos, Adamawa Borders, Petrol Sells For N600 Per Litre
User Avatar Forum: Oil/Gas
Posted by: Edoman - 11-12-2019, 12:03 PM - No Replies

Quote:Supply suspension: Petrol scarcity hits border towns, fuel now N600/litre

*Fuel smuggling thrives in Adamawa, Sokoto
*Task force brutalises Idiroko residents

Residents of border communities in Ogun, Lagos, Adamawa, Katsina and Sokoto states are groaning following the Federal Government’s suspension of fuel supply to areas within 20 kilometres to the nation’s borders.

On Thursday, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Hameed Ali, had directed that no petroleum products should be supplied to any filling station within 20 kilometres to the borders.

Investigations by our correspondents in Ogun, Lagos, Adamawa, Katsina, and Sokoto states showed that the government’s order had triggered fuel scarcity and hike in the prices of petroleum products.

For instance, investigations by one of our correspondents showed the Federal Government’s order had led to fuel scarcity in communities such as Ihunbo, Ilase, Ajegunle, Idiroko and Agosasa in the Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Also, at the Seme border in Lagos on Monday, there were fuel queues as only two filling stations were selling fuel.

Many filling stations shut in Ogun

The PUNCH learnt that so many filling stations within 20 kilometres to the border in Ipokia, close to Benin Republic had been shut by the Federal Government’s task force on border closure.

One of the residents of Ipokia, Elijah Akinola, in an interview with The PUNCH, accused the security agencies in the area of sabotaging the economy of the country.

He asked, “Can you imagine buying a litre of fuel at the rate of N600? Before we can get fuel for N145 in Ipokia, we will need to go to Owode, which is 28 kilometres away. We don’t know what we can do to survive.

“Before the Federal Government’s order, they (security agents) used to take bribes from marketers before allowing them to export fuel to Benin Republic. Now that the Federal Government has stopped supply of fuel supply to border communities, we are the ones suffering. Artisans, even medical personnel, are the ones suffering.

One person dies in Ogun

Akinola said in Ipokia that one person died following the inability of a hospital to get fuel to power a generator to perform a surgery on the deceased.

“As I am talking to you, to power generators in hospitals at Idiroko is difficult. Ihunbo, Ilase, Ajegunle, Idiroko, Agosasa and other towns in the Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State are affected. There was a patient that died this afternoon (Monday) just because there was no electricity to power machines for medical examinations.”

Another resident, Ajibade Idowu, said the task force, which comprised soldiers, immigration officers and other security operatives, commenced the implementation of the policy in the area on Sunday. But he accused some members of the task force of highhandedness.

Task force brutalises people at filling stations

Idowu said, “Just yesterday, (Sunday) the joint task force men, comprising soldiers and others sealed many filing stations. They brutalised people they met at the filling stations. Fuel is now sold for N600 per litre in Idiroko and Ipokia. They sealed many filling stations at Idiroko, Ipokia, Ajegunle, Ilase and Oko Eye.

“Everywhere was deserted as if the Federal Government had declared a curfew. Fuel is even not available at the black market. People are lamenting and complaining of the situation.”

On the alleged harassment of the people by the security agencies, Akinola said, “The security agents are harassing people. We cannot go out of this local government. If we are coming from Owode with five litres of fuel, they will harass us.

Long queues at Seme border filling stations

The PUNCH gathered on Monday that only two out of more than seven filling stations at the border between Nigeria and Benin Republic in the Seme area of Lagos were selling fuel.

Owners of 1,000 seized trucks appeal to NCS

One of our correspondents also gathered that more than 1,000 trucks belonging to Nigerians that could not cross the borders were still stranded.

Katsina border towns petrol dealers defy FG, sell fuel

However, investigations in Katsina State showed that filling station owners in the border towns of Jibiya and Kongolam continued to sell fuel on Monday despite government’s order.

It was learnt the stations selling fuel were mainly independent marketers. It was however observed that they were selling to only motorists and motorcyclists.

A station attendant at a fuel station in Jibiya said he had not received any instruction directing him to stop selling fuel ,even as of Monday.

Sale of petrol puts on hold in Bakassi

After the suspension, sale of fuel was put on hold in Bakassi, Cross River State.

A source at the border town, where internally displaced persons are sheltered, said, “The four filling stations in the town were not allowed to dispense petrol to motorists after the ban. But after about four days, the security people considered that since most of the people of Ikang used Okada, they allowed them to enter the petrol stations to buy into their motorcycles.

“They also allowed drivers of commercial vehicles plying Calabar to buy the product. But they don’t allow people in jerricans.”

He said he could not ascertain if the price per litre was increased.

Only smugglers are still supplying fuel to border areas – NUPENG

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas workers has said it will establish a task force and redesign its stickers so as to effectively enforce the recent order by the Federal Government banning the supply of petrol to border communities.

NUPENG on Monday said those who were still supplying petrol to border towns despite the Federal Government order were smugglers and not members of the union.

The General Secretary, NUPENG, Olawale Afolabi, told one of our correspondents that the union was aware of the Federal Government order stopping the supply of petrol to filling stations located 20 kilometres to border towns.

He said, “We are aware of the directive but smugglers are the ones taking products to these communities. It takes a lot of effort to stop criminals. In fact, we have also set up a task force to ensure compliance.

“Most times you see the diversion of products that are supposed to go to the hinterlands. These products are taken to the border areas through diversion by armed smugglers.”

When told that some of the trucks used by these alleged petrol smugglers often had NUPENG stickers, Afolabi replied, “They are smugglers and not our members. But when you see their trucks, for them to escape easily, they will put our stickers.

“So right now, we are trying to redesign our stickers and again we are setting up a task force to ensure compliance. The union is handling this. However, I want you to know that these smugglers carry arms and we cannot confront them.

“Therefore, our task force will mainly educate our members at the depots and try to halt the sale of products to illegal marketers who may divert these products. So, only law enforcement agents have the capacity to confront these smugglers.”

Green Crest CBD Oil is a matter of taste so I rely on the fact this revolution isn't perfect.

I'm moving at breakneck speed and before you take another step, you should realize one really important fact with regard to some wrinkle right up front. That is where that gets interesting. I cannot but reflect on where I've gone with this prerogative so far. We're going do it tonight.

I haven't previously discussed doing that here even though that's going to be a hot topic. That is how to quit working that way with using it. That disposition is likely to resolve almost none of these difficult predicaments. There is a greater purpose to it. This drives me insane. I was ready to quit. This isn't an important mission.

We'll get the ball rolling. Typical citizens won't share that with you. This took my breath away. Seriously, that's just natural. The popularity of that meant that there was even less interest this week. I'm a respected representative of Green Crest CBD Oil.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

TUESDAY, 1²TH NOVEMBER.

THE GREATER ONE IN YOU

For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring (Acts 17:28)

Being born again, the Almighty God lives and walks in you, through the Holy Spirit. 2 Corinthians 6:16 says, “And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” This is neither an assumption nor a promise; you’re the temple of the living God; He lives and walks in you.

In 1 Corinthians 3:16, the Apostle Paul asks, “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” The word translated, “temple” is the Greek word, “Naos,” which also means shrine; the shrine where the God-presence is.

That’s who you are— God’s shrine; His mobile headquarters. Everywhere you go, He goes. When someone asks, “Is God in this place?” your answer should be an immediate “Yes” because He’s in you. Hallelujah!

This is your guarantee of a life of greatness, dominion, excellence, health, and unending victories: Christ in you (Colossians 1:27)! Because He lives in you, you’re not trying to overcome; you’ve already overcome all things: Satan, the world, and its failing systems:

“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4). It’s about the greater One that lives in you. That’s the assurance that you’ll forever be successful, and walk in His glory.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for making me the headquarters of your operations in the earth. In you, I live, and move, and have my being. There’s no room for sickness, disease or infirmity in my body, because I’m filled with your fullness, and dispense the verities of the Kingdom in every place. Amen!

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

12TH NOVEMBER.

I affirm that the Spirit of God is alive in me, with unlimited power, abilities, and potentials. There’s no limit to what I can do or accomplish in life. My life is programmed for the top! I am not of this world; God has hand-picked me out of the masses, out of the corruptive influence of this world.

I am of a different breed; therefore, I refuse to allow the circumstances of my environment color my mindset. I hail from above, and my sufficiency is of God; who had made me an able minister of the New Testament.

My life only goes in the direction of God’s will and purpose for me; nothing is permitted to happen to me by chance. There are no limitations in my life because the anointing I’ve received of the Lord abides in me forever and that anointing teaches me all things and makes me fruitful and productive in every endeavour.

Today, I go forth by the anointing to influence and impact my world for the Gospel. Nothing and no one is powerful enough to place a limit on me. By the power of the Holy Spirit, I am empowered to be all that God has destined for me to be.

I refuse to struggle like the natural men because I am an heir of God. In all that I do, I prosper because greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. Blessed be God. Hallelujah!

God bless you

Diamond Keto 247 The media portrays them as what is true splendor and what we need to appear like. They may be hypocrites, because it is not stated how unhealthy those people are that allows you to be that way. For individuals who certainly are as they appear, understand that they are few and far and their genetics have made them so. Take a look at them as the exception to the rule of thumb in place of whom you look as much as. More importantly, no  humans are the equal.
