According to the returning officer, Professor Olayinde Lawal, the margin between the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Smart Adeyemi and that of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Dino Melaye is 20,570.

He announced that Mr Adeyemi polled a total of 80,118 votes, while Senator Melaye got 59,548 votes from the seven Local Government Areas in the senatorial district.

Kogi 2019: Wada rejects outcome
November 17, 2019

Even before final announcement of the results of Saturday’s governership election in Kogi State, the candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Musa Wada has rejected the likely outcome.

Addressing a press conference, in Lokoja on Sunday, which coincided with the collation of results from the 21 LGAs of the state at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in capital, Wada alleged that the results were all false.

He said that what happened in the state over the weekend was neither democracy nor a reflection of the wishes of the electorate.

He said that the wishes of the people did not prevail at the polls.

He lamented that the police colluded with INEC to undermine the will of the people of the state.

He said there is no need allowing for election, “if Okene that had forty thousand accredited voters, now came up with a hundred and twelve thousand.”

He described it as a sad day for Kogi people, who he said are in mourning mood.

“Do you see anybody rejoicing? Is this how it is the day after a true victory? It is not about me here. It is about the long suffering people of the state who have been under bondage in the last four years.

“I won this election free and fair. Just imagine that they leave out the rigged election of Okene, Okehi and the several cases of brutality meted on our supporters, and the widely reported cases of ballot snatching, I would have won neatly,” he declared.

Seated by his running mate, Hon. Sam Aro, Wada said that as the party’s flagbearer together with the party, will seek redress at the tribunal.

According to him, the APC has taken Nigerians back to the dark days.

“The governorship election is not about me, but about another four years of misgovernance that would be midwifed by the APC. The results were already written, and is not a reflection of the people’s wishes,” he asserted.

Jonathan Taught Dickson A Lesson With Governorship Election In Bayelsa
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 11-17-2019, 10:24 PM - No Replies

For those who didn’t follow the buildup to the Bayelsa elections. Dickson disrespected GEJ and the Bayelsa elders. They had settled on Alaibe as a consensus candidate to replace Dickson.
Dickson who Jonathan brought out of obscure House of Reps and made Governor disrespected GEJ and PEJ and bribed Secondus to have his way in the primary and impose his cousin Diri on the party.

Not only that he disparaged Bayelsa East- Jonathan’s people (Ogbia, Nembe and Brass) as non core Ijaw and traitors. Whole thing has been building from senatorial elections which was why APC won GEJ’s Senatorial district in the 2019 polls with his support.

All GEJ’s allies and boys moved to APC and David Lyon is a godson of Patience. Jonathan did not campaign for the APC candidate like his wife and mother out of self respect but his kinsmen ensured Dickson was taught a lesson without saying a word.

Jonathan’s polling unit, ward and senatorial district all delivered for Lyon. Wike and Jonathan and their allies all worked for Lyon. Irony of it is Dickson refused o reconcile and make any concessions saying he could win on his own. He was thoroughly defeated.

All politics is local.

In 2012 GEJ used Dickson to remove Sylva. In 2019, GEJ and PEJ worked with Sylva to remove Dickson.

The PDP national leadership is an embarrassment. Why would you let the interests of an underperforming governor who wanted to impose a stooge supersede that of the former president and party elders in a state who has shelved their interests to back the strongest candidate in the party Alaibe.

Jonathan could have insisted on any of his loyalists like Igali being the candidate but he settled on Alaibe who was formidable and had the support of all. Obasanjo even joined Jonathan to beg Dickson and Secondus to let Alaibe get the ticket. But Dickson wanted his cousin.

Bayelsa people hated Dickson particularly Bayelsa East(Jonathan’s people) who Dickson called non core Ijaw. Core Ijaws are apparently according to Dickson the Sagbama/Ekeremor/Southern Ijaws of Bayelsa and the Bomadi/Burutu/Patani of Delta and as such only them should be in charge of the only Izon state

Two lecturers kidnapped in Mahuta community of Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State have regained their freedom after spending six days in the hands of their abductors.

Kogi West Rerun: Melaye Rejects Results, Describes Poll As Helicopter Election
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 11-17-2019, 09:17 PM - No Replies

Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Kogi West Senatorial District rerun election, Dino Melaye, has condemned the results, calling it ‘fictitious’.

Mr. Melaye who spoke to journalists in Abuja, alleged that the November 16 election was marred by compromise, extreme violence, and rigging.

“The innovation is that what we had is what I have christened ‘Helicopter election’. For the first time, rigging has been advanced to the level that now the use of a helicopter in perpetuating this electoral atrocity manifested yesterday.

“Helicopter hovering around Polling units in Lokoja, dropping bullets on innocent, harmless citizens and electorate; and as I speak, yesterday, teargas being fired from this helicopter.”

He added that the violence witnessed in his community should give the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reasons to stop the collation of results on Sunday.

“Despite the fact that this helicopter was used in harassing, intimidating and firing innocent electorates, the votes of those places were carted away and taken to the government house, stuffed and brought back to the collation centre and they have been accepted and admitted and collation is ongoing.

“They brought mayhem on my own community and even killed my nephew, we are waiting to see what INEC will do, but I reject in totality, this fictitious result and I want to say that all these are not about the election, it is about Dino Melaye,” he stated.

On October 11, the Appeal Court ordered a rerun election in Kogi West Senatorial District between Senator Dino Melaye of the PDP and Senator Smart Adeyemi of the APC.

13. Wisconsin (8-2)

The Badgers stayed within striking distance of Minnesota in the Big Ten West by winning 37-21 at Nebraska. It was the Jonathan Taylor show once again, as the star tailback ran 25 times for 204 yards with two touchdowns. It was the third time Taylor rushed for 200 yards or more against the Cornhuskers. He has 11 career games with at least 200 yards, which ties Ron Dayne, Ricky Williams and Marcus Allen for the most in FBS history, according to data from ESPN Stats & Information. With 5,634 career rushing yards, Taylor passed 1982 Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker's NCAA record for most rushing yards by a player through his junior season. Walker had 5,596 yards from 1980 to 1982. Taylor still has two regular-season games and at least a bowl game to add to his total.

12. Minnesota (9-1)

The Golden Gophers' dreams of an unbeaten season came to a screeching halt at Iowa with a 23-19 loss, just a week after they stunned Penn State 31-26 for one of the biggest victories in the program's history. Minnesota has dropped nine straight road games against the Hawkeyes and hasn't won at Kinnick Stadium since 1999. The Gophers dug themselves an early hole, falling behind 20-3 with 6:20 left in the second quarter, and they couldn't erase the deficit in the second half. Quarterback Tanner Morgan threw for 368 yards with one touchdown. The Hawkeyes had six sacks, and Morgan was knocked out in the final minute with a possible concussion. The Gophers ran for only 63 yards on 30 carries. Despite the loss, Minnesota is still in the driver's seat in the Big Ten West. It plays at Northwestern next week, followed by a showdown at home against Wisconsin on Nov. 30.

11. Baylor (9-1)

The Bears squandered a golden opportunity on Saturday, blowing a 25-point lead in their Big 12 showdown against four-time defending league champion Oklahoma at home. The Bears were shut out in the second half and couldn't muster much of anything on offense. With the Sooners dominating time of possession, Baylor had only five possessions in the second half, which resulted in a fumble, three punts and an interception. Quarterback Charlie Brewer had 194 passing yards with two touchdowns and one interception while running 17 times for 65 yards and two scores. The Bears can still reach the Big 12 championship game -- and a potential rematch with the Sooners -- if they take care of business in their final two games against Texas at home and at Kansas.

Election results announced so far by the Independent National Electoral Commission in the Kogi West senatorial rerun election show that PDP’s Dino Melaye is poised to lose his seat in the Senate to his closest rival, Smart Adeyemi of the APC.

Of the seven local government areas in the senatorial district, five have been announced.

Of the five local government results announced, Mr Adeyemi has polled a total of 52,389 while Mr Melaye trails with 37,856.

The former won in all of Kaba Bunnu, Kogi Koton Karfe, Mopa Muro and Ijumu. Mr Melaye, however, scooped the highest votes in one LGA, Yagba East LGA.

Messrs Adeyemo and Delays are both from Ijumu

With the sail in Mr Adeyemi’s favour, Mr Melaye needs to cover up for the deficit of 14,533 votes in the two remaining local government areas that are yet to be announced by INEC.

These local government areas are Yabgba West and Lokoja LGAs.

The elections in Kogi West, like in a large part of the state, was characterized by violence.

Below is the breakdown of how both candidates fared in the five local governments announced so far.

Kaba Bunnu

APC — 15,037

PDP — 8,974

Kogi Koton Karfe

APC — 14,168

PDP — 9,786

PDP — 3,704

Pastor who embarked on 40 days dry fasting dies in Imo

Evangelist Chidi Eke, a 46 year old clergyman, who was fasting to seek God's face as he plans to open his own ministry, has died while fasting for 40 days and nights in Eziala Nguru in Ngor Okpala council area of Imo State.

Eke who reportedly left his wife and children in Lagos after he claimed he got the call from God asking him to go into minsitry, relocated to Imo state where he said he would be seeking the face and power of God inside the ''Wilderness''. He had successfully concluded a 21 days fast and decided to go ahead to do a 40-days dry fast.

Quote:“During the first and second week of his fast, people who had gone to their farms heard him singing and praying loudly. But after the third week nobody heard his voice again and most people thought that perhaps he must have gone deep into meditation. But one of his church members, one Cyriacus Opara who became worried and insisted that he needed to visit him at the forest.
“When Opara approached the family that he wanted to visit Chidi Eke in the “Wilderness”, they told him that they don’t actually know the exact location where he was and that Eke had earlier issued a stern warning that he did not want any visitors because he had left his phone and money at home and had only gone with his Bible and gown.” a resident of the village told The Nation

Opara was told to contact one Cajethan Nwaneri as the only person who knew the location of the “Wilderness” since he had assisted the deceased evangelist in clearing it. Nwaneri led Opara to the place where they found out Eke had long died.

Quote:“Eke had abandoned his wife and two children, a boy and girl in Lagos and returned back to the village saying that he has come to answer the call of God. His corpse was discovered by one of his members who had gone to check on him in the bush where he had gone. Eke is the only son of his mother. In fact it was members of the community under the leadership of Tochukwu Ekeh (Angle 90) who are going to bear the burden of burying him” a relative said

In one week, DSS has given 3 contradictory reasons for not releasing Sowore - Falana

Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Femi Falana has lashed out at the DSS over its recent statement in which it claimed that former National Security Adviser, NSA, Sambo Dasuki; leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Shiek Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and #RevolutionNow convener, Omoleye Sowore opted to remain in their custody instead of prison.

According to Femi Falana, the Secret Police has released three contradictory statements in one week on why they are yet to release his client and #RevolutionNow convener.

The human rights activists who described the statements as an embarrassment to the country, recounted how the DSS refused releasing Dasuki even after being admitted bail several times in the last 4 years.

Falana stated that DSS operatives arrested Dasuki at the gate of Kuje prison and has since detained him in defiance of the orders issued by the Federal High Court and ECOWAS court.

Quote:“Within a spate of one week the state security service (SSS) has adduced three contradictory reasons for not complying with the order of the federal high court for the immediate release Sowore and Bakare from illegal custody,” he said in a statement.
“In a public statement issued on 9/11/19 the SSS claimed that it had wanted to release the duo but for the fact that no one had showed up to receive them. When their lawyers and family members offered to receive them the SSS disqualified them.
“The SSS turned round to say that it would only release the detainees to their sureties. Having found that it lacks the vires to vet sureties that have verified by the federal high court the SSS has asked Nigerians to believe that Messrs Sowore and Bakare had applied to be detained in its protective and comfortable custody!
“Instead of apologising for exposing Nigeria to underserved odium the spokesperson of the security agency has asked us to believe that Sowore and Bakare, Mr. and Mrs Elzakzaky and Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) “rather chose to be looked after by the DSS”!
“Since we are counsel to the majority of these detainees in question, we are compelled to join issues with the SSS on its latest justification for such brazen abuse of power.
“At various times in the past 4 years, the federal high court, the federal capital territory high court, the court of appeal and the ECOWAS court of justice admitted Col. Dasuki to bail pending trial. Upon meeting his bail conditions on 30/12/15 he was released by the Kuje prison authorities. However, the SSS operatives arrested him at the gate of the prison and has since been detained in defiance of the orders of the aforementioned municipal and regional courts,” he said.
“With respect to Elzakzakys the Information Minister, Mr. Lai Mohammed had said on June 16, 2017 that “Elzakzaky is actually not in prison custody nor police custody nor DSS custody? El-Zakzaky is in a house with his family, this is the honest truth.
“The court ruled that he will be released after his house has been rebuilt. Nobody wants to accept El-Zakzaky as a neighbor. So we have been able to build a house, where do we release him to?” When were the Elzakzakys transferred to the custody of the SSS from the house built for them by the federal government?
“On another occasion the federal government claimed that Mrs Zeinat Elzakzaky was not detained but that she chose the company of her detained husband, Mr. Elzakzaky. As if that was not enough Mr. Lai Mohammed disclosed that the federal government was spending N3.5 million to feed the Elzakzaky per month. Since the Elzakzakys have been detained illegally for the past 46 months the federal government must have wasted N168 million on feeding the couple!
“The federal government has since justified the detention of Col Dasuki and the Elzakzakys by saying that the local and regional courts had failed to take cognisance of the fact that “national security takes precedence over the rule of law.” In fact, for not realising that Sowore ought not to have been admitted to bail the sss was reported to have threatened to report Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the federal high court to the National Judicial Council.”

Unknown gunmen abduct another priest in Enugu State

The Enugu State Police Command says it has commenced a massive manhunt of abductors of a Catholic Priest, Rev.-Fr. Theophilus Ndulue.

This is coming barely two weeks after Rev.-Fr Arinze Madu, Deputy Rector, Queen of the Apostle Spiritual Year Seminary, Imezi Owa in Ezeagu Local Government Area, was released by his abductors.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ebere Amaraizu, Ndulue was abducted by unidentified gunmen on his way home along Amansiodo Road in Ndiagu-Oghe in Ezeagu Local Government Area on Friday evening while returning from a pastoral council meeting.

Amaraizu while confirming the incident, described the abduction as unfortunate. He, however, said that police would leave no stone unturned to secure release the catholic priest unhurt.

Quote:“We have launched a massive trail for the rescue and release of the priest from his abductors as soon as possible. I assure the good people of Enugu and the Catholic family that we will get at them and bring them to book.
“However, we are circumspect on the operation in order to ensure that the Catholic priest is released unhurt,’’ he assured.
Amaraizu said that Ndulue, who was the Parish Priest of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Ihuonyia, Amansiodo, was initially kidnapped alongside the Chair lady, Catholic Women Organisation in his parish, Mrs Stella Nwodo. He said that Nwodo was later released by the abductors.

Border Closure: Beninese Groan In Pains, Lament Loses
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 11-17-2019, 01:50 PM - No Replies

Quote:By Ayo Bada -

– With barely three months after Nigeria closed its border with Benin Republic, things have not been the same with the West African neighbours as the citizens, especially those in Porto Novo and Cotonou, are groaning in pains as a result of the closure.

The land borders were closed in August following criminal activities at the nation’s international boundaries with Benin and Niger.

One key concern cited by authorities was the rice that Beninese traders import from Asia and then illegally re-export to Nigeria. According to the Nigerian authorities, the importation of these goods jeopardises the country’s agricultural policy aimed at achieving food autonomy.

But these protectionist measures taken by President Muhammadu Buhari have had disastrous consequences on the citizens of Benin Republic, many of whom sell their produce on the Nigerian market.

Mostly hit by the disastrous effects are vegetable growers in Benin, who are now struggling to sell their produce. Now it is common to see spoiled, unsold vegetables abandoned by the side of the roads or, in some cases, even rotting on the vine.

Lorries load with these products were stranded at the borders and while the goods are rotting away, the tyres of the lorries have been deflated.

The hustling and bustling movements of traders and citizens between the Owode-Apa border to Porto Novo was virtually desolated with traders hanging in twos and threes discussing the effects of the border closure on their goods.

SUNDAY INDEPENDENT correspondent investigation in the country shows that the citizens have suffered significant losses since the border closure.

Most of the citizens heaped the blame of their sufferings on the policy of President Patrice Guillaume Talon, whom they said is tearing the country apart as a result of his hardiness, especially for his failure to dialogue with the Federal Government of Nigeria on how to re-open the borders.

Talon, Beninese businessman and politician was elected President of Benin on April 6, 2016. He ran as an independent candidate in the March 2016 presidential election. Although he finished second to Prime Minister Lionel Zinsou of the Cowry Forces for an Emerging Benin in the first round of voting, he won the second round with 65% of the vote.

“He (Talon) is not helping our matters. He has succeeded in destroying the good works of his predecessors with just three years in office and has put the residents at his mercy.

“We are really suffering as a result of this border closure and he is not looking at our sides at all. This we believe is not good for the citizens,” said a cleric, Very Rev. Martin Odoumbakou.

A scholar in one of the higher institutions in Porto Novo, Prof. Joel Hounsou, said they are feeling the heat more than Nigerians because they are at the receiving ends.

“It is very unfortunate what we are going through since this border closure. We are really suffering. You can see that our roads are empty because there is nothing to display or transport to Nigeria.

“And the pathetic side of it is that the government is less concerned about what we are going through. The citizens are suffering and lamenting and the government is not saying anything. This is too bad. Very bad my brother because we are suffering,” he lamented.

A trader at the Quartier Kpokomey market in Porto Novo, El-Hadja Mandinath Ategbo said they are now forced to eat their goods in order to prevent them from rotting away.

“What else can we do than to resort to eating our goods ourselves since we cannot get them down to Nigeria as a result of the border closure?
“We are tired of throwing them away to the dustbins. We labour in vain to harvest the goods and we cannot continue seeing the goods rotting away.

“It is our prayer that very soon, luck will smile at us and the border will be re-opened for us to do business and bring succour to our families because we are suffering and dying in silence,” she cried out loudly.

Jean Adounsiba, another vegetable farmer said he is facing the same struggles.”The majority of our sales were to Nigerians so, since the border was closed, we’ve reduced our production because we can’t sell as many vegetables. So we are sitting here, twiddling our thumbs. If the border stays closed, the future is gloomy.

“I visited one farmer’s garden where the tomatoes were just rotting on the vines,” said Adounsiba.

Madam Prisca Gbadamasi in one of the popular markets in Cotonou urged governments of the two countries to consider the plights of their citizens and save them from the present predicaments.

“We grow all different kinds of vegetables on our plots, including carrots, turnips and different kinds of greens.

“Before the borders were closed, lots of Nigerians came to buy our produce. We sold them about 15 tons of vegetables a month, which represented about 75 percent of our total production. They were especially fond of our lettuces and our carrots.

“But it has been really hard since Nigeria closed its borders. We are really struggling to sell our produce. “Here in Cotonou there is much less demand. People aren’t buying, so we’ve suffered enormous losses.

“We’d like our government to negotiate a re-opening of the border with the Nigerian government. That would be a good thing for us and business could start back up on both sides of the border.

“We’ve reduced our production because we can’t sell as many vegetables as before as a result of the border closure,” said Gbadamasi.

The Federal Government on Thursday held a meeting with delegations from Republic of Benin and Niger in Abuja, where modalities for the re-opening of the Nigerian land borders were discussed.

The parley which held under the auspices of the Tripartite Anti-smuggling Ministerial Committee at the ECOWAS Commission Secretariat, Asokoro, agreed to establish a joint border patrol team comprising the police, Customs and immigration of the three countries.

Representing Nigeria at the meeting were the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed (Finance, Budget and National Planning), Rauf Aregbesola (Interior), Lai Mohammed (Information), Zubairu Dauda (State, MFA) and Hajia Mariam Katagum (Minister of State, Trade and Industry).

On the Beninoise delegation were the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Aurelien Agbenonci, Mr. Romuald Wadagni (Economy and Finance) and Mrs. Shadiya Assouma (Industry and Commerce), while the Nigerien team had the Ministers of Interior, Mr. Mohamed Bazoum, Mr. Sadou Seydou (Trade and Private Sector) Lamido Goga (African Integration and Nigerien abroad) and Mr. Ahmat Jidoud (Budget).

The meeting was also attended by the ECOWAS Commissioner for Trade, Customs and Free Movement, Mr. Tel Konzi.

Reading the communiqué at the end of the meeting, Onyeama, who headed the Nigerian delegation, stated that the meeting also agreed on the establishment of a monitoring and evaluation committee of the three countries.

The mandate of the committee, he said, was to ensure actions that would facilitate and enhance the suppression of smuggled goods and other related matters.

Onyeama said, “We have agreed to put in place certain mechanisms that would enable us to open the borders; there was a consensus on that.
“We have agreed to set up a joint border patrol; so the three countries would send a list of officers that would be part of the joint border patrol team and they are going to be meeting on the 25th and 26th of this month.”

Responding to questions on the threat to Nigerian traders in Accra who had been asked to shut down their businesses by their Ghanaian counterparts, the minister said the Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana was engaging with the government of Ghana on the development.

“We are in touch, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the leadership of the Nigerian traders in Accra, Ghana and there is no threat as we understand it, to their physical safety.

“The important thing is we have found a solution to the problem and in the not too distant future, the borders would be opened and I think that would impact on the traders in Ghana as well,” the minister said.

The foreign affairs minister admitted that the border closure had impacted severely on the nation, but added that the benefits were high.
When asked if the concerns that led to the border closure had been addressed, the minister said, “It is being addressed. We believe if all the commitments that were made today (Thursday) by the three countries were kept, going forward, the problem would be minimal compared to what it was.”

Fuel Scarcity Hits Katsina Borders, Litre Goes For N250

Residents lament FG’s draconian decision

Quote:Francis Sardauna in Katsina

With the decision of the federal government to suspend fuel supply to filling station located within 20 kilometres to the nation’s land border, fuel scarcity has hit border towns in Katsina State, THISDAY checks have revealed.

Investigation also revealed that the scarcity had led to an increase in the price of premium motor spirit (PMS) from N145 to N250 in towns coterminous with the Niger Republic, accounting for an increase of about 40 percent.

This was uncovered yesterday when our correspondent visited some of the border towns to evaluate the impact of the directive that restricted fuel supply to filling stations within 20 kilometres to the nation’s land border.

During the visit, THISDAY checks revealed that the directive of the federal government had resulted in fuel scarcity in Daddara, Nasarawa, Dan Arau, Magaman, Jibia, Makada and Tsayau communities.

In these communities, findings revealed that the directive stoked fuel scarcity and hike in the prices of petroleum products at Jibia and Kongolam border towns between Nigeria and Niger Republic.

THISDAY observed that the federal government task force on border closure had shit all major filling stations within 20 kilometres to the border, a decision that put the residents in the communities under pressure.

Among others, some of the filling stations shut by the task force include Afdin Petroleum Services Limited, Coil Oil, A.Yau Moba Nigeria Limited, B.H Maidingi Ventures, Lolo Dakare Nigeria Limited, Fulani Yarima Petroleum Limited and Danyaro General Enterprises.

Consequently, residents of the border towns, who spoke with THISDAY, lamented undue increase in fuel pump price following the suspension of fuel supply to areas within 20 kilometres to the nation’s land borders.

One of the residents of Magaman Jibia, Sule Safiyanu, said the federal government’s action was affecting the economic growth of the country and the livelihood of the citizens.

“As you can see, all the petrol stations in this town are closed down by the men of the Nigeria Customs Service. Before, we can get fuel for N145 per litre but now, it is N200 or N250. The worst aspect of it is that we cannot even get the product to buy,” he said.

Another resident, Faroq Tijani, said: “Now that the federal government has stopped the supply of fuel to border communities, we are the ones suffering. How can we survive? We cannot travel again for lack of fuel. We travel as far as Katsina to get fuel for our vehicles and machines.”

The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Hameed Ali, had directed that no petroleum products should be supplied to any filling station within 20 kilometres to the country’s borders.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

PREACHING THE WORD

Sunday, November 17th .

And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen (Mark 16:20).

Always, we tell people to preach the Word, because it’s an instruction from the Master. The Apostles preached the Word; Jesus Himself preached the Word. We’re mandated to preach the Word. However, that someone is preaching or talking about God doesn’t mean he’s preaching the Word. So, what is the Word?

The Word is that message from God that reveals or communicates His works, will, thoughts, plans, purposes and pursuit; to bring men into or promote fellowship with Him in love. It’s His message of truth with content and power to build His image into the life of the hearers. Its content is the embodiment of Christ’s revelations, provisions, perfections and instructions—profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction or training in righteousness.

This is what Jesus preached. He didn’t preach politics or His own opinion; He preached the Word. If the Word Himself would preach the Word, how much more should you and I? Being born again, you’re a minister of the Gospel; you’re called to voice God’s message; the Word is His message that reveals His works, will, purpose and character.

A true preacher of the Word is one who preaches God’s will, God’s thoughts, God’s plans, purposes and pursuits, and constantly brings men into fellowship with God or promote their fellowship with God. The more they listen to you, the more the image of Christ is revealed in them and to them. Glory to God! Be a true preacher of the Word.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for making me the expression of your Word, unveiling your goodness and excellence to the world through the Gospel. As I boldly proclaim your Gospel of truth, righteousness, life and immortality are unveiled; many are brought into fellowship with you, and their inheritance in Christ, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Gov Dickson Accuses Military Hierarchy Of Compromising Security In Bayelsa Poll
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 11-17-2019, 08:26 AM - No Replies

By Yemi Itodo

The Governor of Bayelsa State, the Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson, has accused the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6th Division of the Nigerian Army, of compromising security in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Governor said that, even though Gen. Sarham has been transfered to the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, he refused to move and waited behind to supervise the use of the Army to perpetrate heinous electoral crimes and irregularities in the Bayelsa guber polls.

He noted that the GOC and the Brigade Commander of the Artillery Brigade, attached soldiers to all APC leaders in all the wards who they use to terrorize people from one polling unit to another.

The Governor added that the GOC moved to Yenagoa to personally supervise the undemocratic and illegal activities of the Army in the Bayelsa polls, using the Brigade Commander of the Artillery Brigade as the commander of his soldiers in the orgy of violence on Bayelsans.

Major General Sarham was reportedly expected to handover to his successor, Major General Felix Aguguo, on November 5, but was said to have aborted the handing over process till after the Bayelsa governorship poll.

It would be recalled that the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Moses Cleopas, had alerted the nation of a plot by the APC to use the GOC and the Nigerian Army to undermine security during governorship poll in Bayelsa.

“I am accusing the GOC of of the 6th Brigade, Major General Sharham Jamil of delaying his handing over process after his transfer to the Nigeria Defence Academy, Kaduna, to perfect this illegal mission of rigging the election in Bayelsa.

“He and the Brigade Commander of Artillery Brigade, Elele, Lt Col Wase, are the ones attaching soldiers to all APC chieftains in every Ward to rig the election in all the polling units.

"I understand that because of the desperation of the Federal Government, the GOC 6th Division, Port Harcourt, Gen. Sarham who is known as the commander of the APC Army rigging wing, refused to move even with his transfer to the NDA as commandant and I wonder what lessons he will be giving to those young cadet officers.

“General Sarham has defied his transfer posting and has stayed back to complete his mission of rigging Bayelsa for APC.

“General Sarham has moved to Yenagoa some days back and he’s there now breathing down on everybody and using soldiers everywhere to terrorize, intimidate and to arrest our people.

"So gentlemen, let me say once again, this election, you should allow the people of Bayelsa to vote, anywhere the people of Bayelsa have the opportunity to vote, they will vote PDP. They will vote for the candidate of our party. APC knows that and that is why the desperation is so high.

“I call on the President of the Federal Republic, even though he has decided to look the other way since 2015 when Timipre Silva, his right hand man was deployed to kill and terrorize our people.

“The President has to wake up and do something; this is not a democracy; what is going on in Bayelsa in the name of an election is not a democracy.

“The observers are everywhere and everyone knows what is going on. I call on the president to call the security forces, the Army to do what is right, I call on the Inspector General of Police to be true to his professional calling and direct the DIG and all police officers to protect the people of Bayelsa State.

“I do not want to be pushed to the level of calling them to defend and protect themselves, I would not want to do that, but please, there is so much a people can take in the hands of their brothers and sisters in the name of an election", Governor Dickson lamented.

Xenophobia: South African Police detain 180 foreign nationals

180 foreign nationals have been detained by the South African police for storming the UN refugee agency in Pretoria where they staged a sit-in protest.

The protesters whose protest centered on their demand to be relocated to another country after a spate of xenophobic violence in South Africa in September, stormed the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on Thursday November 14 after they were informed of a court order giving them three days to vacate the site.

Quote:“One hundred and eighty two men and one woman were taken into custody by the police at different police stations,” said provincial police spokeswoman Mathapelo Peters in a statement.

AFP reported that Peters said the sit-in was cleared and hundreds of women and children were bussed to a repatriation centre on the outskirts of Johannesburg as “temporary accommodation”.

The protesters who were held on trespassing charges and expected to appear before the Pretoria Magistrate Court on Monday November 18, reportedly threw rocks and other objects when being dispersed with water cannons by security operatives.

Kogi Election: 30 INEC Staff Missing
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 11-17-2019, 08:08 AM - Replies (1)

Quote:The electoral commission, INEC, has declared 30 of its staff missing.

The ad-hoc staff took part in Saturday’s Kogi State governorship election. They were posted to Olamaboro Local Government Area (LGA) by the commission.

They were declared missing around 1 a.m. on Sunday during the final collation of results in the local government.

The missing INEC staff include Presiding Officers (POs) and Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs) of polling units in Imane ward 1 and 2 of Olamaboro LGA of Kogi State.

Many of the ad-hoc staff used by INEC are corps members of the NYSC.

Just as the whereabouts of the officials are unknown, results from the polling units where they served have also been declared missing.

Announcing the development, the LGA Election Officer, in-charge of collating and announcing the local government’s results, Garba Mahmood, said the INEC ad-hoc staff were reported missing after the observation of some police officers who raised concern that they were last seen shortly after voting ended at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Mr Mahmood said repeated calls to their telephone numbers did not go through.

According to a PREMIUM TIMES AND PTCIJ observer who witnessed the declaration by Mr Mahmood, the official asked party agents whether or not the missing staff should be waited for. Based on their response, he declared them missing.

Mr Mahmood then released the names of the missing persons.

PREMIUM TIMES tried to contact the spokesperson to the INEC chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, on the status of the missing staff. He did not pick calls or reply a text message sent to him.

The police spokesperson in Kogi, William Aya, could also not be reached on the status of the missing persons.

The Kogi governorship election was characterized by violence, ballot box snatching, intimidation of voters and vote buying in many parts of the state.

Although 24 candidates are contesting the election, it is seen as a context between incumbent governor Yahaya Bello of the APC and Musa Wada of the PDP.

See the list of the missing staff as provided by INEC and the police at the Olamaboro collation centre.

Bayelsa Election: 3 Persons Shot, Angry Women Protest
User Avatar Forum: News

At least three persons have been shot and stabbed at Opolo Ward 5 in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State during Saturday’s poll by suspected political thugs.

Those injured had been rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa for treatment.

Our Correspondent ran into women in peaceful protest against an alleged invasion by party thugs who invaded various polling units carrying dangerous weapons and shooting sporadically.

They carried various placards with various inscriptions, which read, “No elections in Ward 5.” “Federal Government, Come to our aid,” “We have been denied our rights to vote in Ward 5.” among others.

Doris, one of the leaders of the protesting women told our Correspondent that One Pere and another person simply called Prince were shot, while an elderly man was stabbed on the leg.

The women were protesting in the presence of the Police at the time of time our Correspondent ran into them.

They accused security agencies of allegedly giving covers to the rampaging armed thugs to chase out those they felt would not vote for their preferred candidate.

Also, there was skirmish at Agudama Epie Unit 9 Ward 4 where a suspected party agent was chased away and was nearly mobbed until policemen on patrol rescued him.

He was rescued by policemen on election duty.

A mild drama ensured when the photographs our Correspondent took when the party agent was being rescued by a team of policemen led by an Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP, were forcefully deleted by the policemen who initially seized the mobile phone but released after appeal.

The policemen said although they were captured on camera rescuing the party agent as part of their duty, they did not want to captured on camera.

“We didn’t say you should not do your job as Journalists, because I am doing mine by rescuing the Party Agent, but don’t take my picture,” he said.

In Toru-Orua in Sagbama Local government area, Governor Seriake Dickson could not vote as scheduled because his polling unit was submerged by flood.

An ad-hoc arrangements were made for him and his wife to vote.

After casting his vote, he complained of reported cases of violence in some parts of the state.

In Tombia and Amassoma, the village of the late Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, the former Governor of Bayelsa State, visited by our Correspondent, election was peaceful.

A man has been arrested for allegedly digging up his parents’ bodies so he can exchange their bones for a motorbike.

Police in Mozambique, Africa have detained a man in the northern Nampula province on suspicion of exhuming the bodies of his parents and an uncle.

The man is reported to have removed their bones in one night after a businessman promised him a motorcycle and more than $300 (£234) in cash.

He told the BBC: ‘The boss told me to look for bones from people who died without getting sick. In exchange, you will get a motorbike.

‘I went to a family cemetery, dug up the bones from my father’s, my mother’s and my uncle’s graves.’

The man is reported to have travelled to meet the businessman, who is involved in the exploration of mineral resources, but he was not there.

A police spokesman said the incident was the fifth such case in the area this year, with most believed linked to witchcraft.

The 16-year-old gunman who opened fire at a Southern California high school in Santa Clarita, killing two students and injuring three others, has died.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff´s Department in a statement confirmed that Nathaniel Tennosuke Berhow who turned 16 on the day of the attack died at about 3:30pm Friday at a hospital with his mother present.

At around 7.30am on Thursday, November 14, Berhow was filmed on surveillance cameras retrieving a .45 semi-automatic rifle from his backpack at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita, California.

Authorities said he fired five shots, counting out each one, before turning the gun on himself to use up his last bullet in a failed suicide attempt, which left him in critical condition at the hospital.

Berhow killed 14-year-old Dominic Blackwell, 16-year-old Gracie Muehlberger, and injured Mia Page Tretta, another girl called Addison with a teenage boy who has not been named.

The motive behind the attack is still yet unknown.

At a press conference, LA County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said: 'We did not find any manifesto, any diary that spelled it out, any suicide note or any writings which will clearly identify his motive behind this assault.'

Berhow gave no warning of what he was about to do, the sheriff said.

'He was just standing by himself, at one point walked to the center of the quad, withdrew the firearm and just started firing,' Villanueva said, adding that he looked 'very familiar with a firearm'.

The LA County Sheriff also disclosed that authorities recovered an additional six weapons in the suspect's home, on top of guns that were registered to his late father, and the rifle he used in the attack.

577 medicine shops in Anambra sealed for illegal operations, other offences

 November 15, 2019

The Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) has sealed off 96 pharmacies and 481 patent medicine shops totalling 577 medicine premises in Anambra for various offences.
The PCN’s Director, Inspection and Monitoring, Mrs Anthonia Aruya, made this known in Awka on Friday while addressing newsmen on the council’s efforts at sanitising the sector in the state.

Aruya said that a total of 779 medicine premises were visited after which 19 of them were issued compliance directives for various offences, NAN reports.

According to her, the offences range from poor handling of controlled substances, sale and dispensing of prescription drugs without the supervision of a pharmacist as well as for unhygienic environment and poor documentation.

She said “The enforcement was in fulfilment of its mandate as stated in PCN Act, Cap P17, LFN, 2004 and also in line with the National Drug Distribution Guide of the Federal Government.

“The activities are geared at streamlining the drug distribution value chain to promote safe, effective and quality medicine distribution along with registered and licensed premises.

“Pharmacies that opened at will without recourse to the Council cannot be guaranteed to have standards that will maintain the integrity of the products within such facilities, ‘’ she said.

Aruya said that the council and other regulatory agencies were working to relocate all open drug markets to coordinate wholesale centres for proper regulation.

The director advised the public to always seek registration status of facilities where they access medicines to safeguard themselves from patronising quacks.

CDD: INEC Officials Offered $1,000 To Influence Kogi Election
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Quote:The Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) says a political party is bribing officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kogi state with up to $1,000 to buy them over and get them to do their bidding on election day.

In a statement issued on Friday, CDD said trained observers deployed in different parts of the state confirmed the information.

It said some bureau de change (BDC) operators within the state have “witnessed an upsurge in the number of customers calling to change USD1000 to Naira.”

“There are indications that a lot of money has been set aside for vote buying on Saturday. Already, our observers have noted the distribution of gift items such as ankara textile materials and rice in Lokoja and Koton Karfe local government areas,” CDD said.

“The use of financial inducement to subvert the credibility of the electoral process is antithetical to the democratic ethos.

“CDD condemns in the strongest possible terms all forms of inducement of poll officials. The Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) expressly frowns at bribery and all forms of inducement of poll officials.

“CDD calls on the anti-corruption agencies, particularly the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to thoroughly investigate these reports in order to hold to account the perpetrators of these electoral crimes.”

Believe it or not Deandre Baker Jersey , the NFL draft is three weeks away.Since the last time we issued a mock draft roundup, the NFL’s free agency period began. The Minnesota Vikings didn’t necessarily make a big splash — mainly bringing back some players. They also added offensive lineman Josh Kline, but even so, mock drafters are still mainly stuck on the Vikings adding an offensive lineman in the first round. Just who that lineman will be, though, is up for debate.Of course, not everyone thinks Minnesota will take an offensive lineman with that top pick. Green and the rest of the Bengals receivers on Friday, Tyler Eifert was on a side field running sprints in shorts and a cut-off shirt. He ran one sprint, then another. Next were some agility drills. The tight end did everything except catch one of Dalton’s spirals. The Bengals’ most oft-injured player hopes that part comes soon. The Bengals have gambled that Eifert can stay healthy for a full season and get the NFL’s worst offense moving again. He played only two games last season before hurting his back again, prompting another medical procedure. Eifert was a free agent after the season, and the Bengals decided to keep him with an incentive-laden, one-year deal .Cincinnati’s offense finished last in the league in yards. A healthy Eifert could help change that.”I can’t predict the future on that one, but I can testify to the fact that he made a difference when he was up and running for us,” director of player personnel Duke Tobin said. ”We know what he can do if he can get back to that level.”Eifert is one of Dalton’s favorite targets. He caught 13 touchdown passes in 2015, the most by a tight end in Bengals history. That was the last time the Bengals made the playoffs. A concussion, a dislocated elbow, a torn ankle ligament and two back injuries have limited him to 24 games over the last four years.Although the Bengals have encouraging reports on Eifert’s back, they’ve decided to go slow with him at the start of camp. He hasn’t been cleared to practice even though he feels he’s ready, forcing him to work out on a side field the first two days.”When I came back, I thought I’d go right into practice,” Eifert said. ”Everyone knows all the surgeries I’ve had. We’re just being smart about it.”The Bengals are trying to keep him healthy and get him in shape for the opener at Indianapolis on Sept. 9. He said there’s been no discussion about how much he might play in the preseason.”I definitely need to get back out there, get some plays full-speed,” Eifert said. ”It’s been a while.”Eifert hurt his back during the second game last season, a 13-9 loss to Houston. Backups Tyler Kroft and C.J. Uzomah combined for 52 catches and eight touchdowns during the season.Eifert’s greatest asset is his ability to make catches in tight coverage, the main reason he became Dalton’s favorite target near the goal line. The tight end has made one change in the offseason, dropping at least 10 pounds for quickness.”I feel a lot better,” he said. ”Everyone is always saying you’re got to block and hang in there in the trenches, you’ve got to put on weight, but that’s (wrong).”ON THE SIDE: Linebacker Vontaze Burfict also worked out on the side Friday for the second straight day. He hasn’t been cleared to practice. Burfict is suspended for the first four games of the season for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.ROSS AGAIN: Second-year receiver John Ross made his second impressive catch of camp on a long throw, drawing applause from the crowd of 1,050. Ross missed most of his rookie season with shoulder injuries.OUCH: Tony McRae fell while trying to break up a pass, and receiver Cody Core landed on the back of the cornerback’s right leg. McRae limped to a cart and was taken off for an exam.—

CLEVELAND (AP) — The NFL flagged itself for blowing the call on the nasty helmet-to-helmet hit put on Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield. The league said Friday that Tampa Bay safety Jordan Whitehead should have penalized for striking Mayfield in the side of the helmet in last Sunday’s 26-23 overtime win. Mayfield was sliding at the end of a 35-yard scramble when he got blasted by Whitehead Foster Moreau Jersey , who was initially penalized before the officials conferred and decided to pick up the flag — and one against Mayfield for taunting.First-year referee Shawn Hochuli made the situation worse by incorrectly announcing that Mayfield “was still a runner and therefore is allowed to be hit in the head.”Senior vice president of officiating Al Riveron pointed out several mistakes in a video released by the league.“I’ll tell you ahead of time that we had a flag on this play and we incorrectly picked it up after we had a conference by the officials,” Riveron said before showing Mayfield get blasted by Whitehead. “We’re watching the defender as he lowers his head to initiate contact, and he does make contact, so that right there is a foul within itself. No. 2, as we can see the quarterback starts to slide, and even though he slides late, he is still afforded protection from forcible contact to the neck and head area.”Whitehead is expected to be fined, a person familiar with the league discipline told the AP earlier this week. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because fines are announced Saturday. The shot on Mayfield was making other reverberations Friday.Browns coach Hue Jackson said he was “disappointed” with comments made by Buccaneers coach Dirk Koetter, who felt Mayfield was taunting after he jumped to his feet and walked toward Whitehead. Mayfield admitted telling Whitehead he was going to have to hit him harder to knock him out of the game.On Thursday, Koetter was asked for his take on the play and intimated Mayfield was equally guilty.“What they said on the field was it’s a helmet-to-helmet hit and then (Mayfield) got up and taunted our guy, so then they threw the second flag Joey Bosa Jersey ,” Koetter told reporters in Tampa. “Somehow, they worked it out that they were picking up both flags. Where I was on the field, I didn’t see it as a helmet-to-helmet (hit). But when you look at it on tape, it clearly was, and I guess the fallout from that is what it is.”Jackson was bothered by Koetter’s remarks, and defended Mayfield’s actions after the hit.“That disappointed me,” he said. “The guy shouldn’t have hit our player in the head, first of all, and, obviously, our guy got up and he tossed the ball to the official. Obviously Tony Pollard Jersey , the guy was close by, but the bottom line is our guy shouldn’t be getting hit in the head. I don’t care about some taunting foul. We’re talking about our quarterback taking a shot in the head and sliding. I think that’s wrong. Totally wrong.”Jackson further explained his disappointment with Koetter, arguing that Whitehead’s hit triggered everything.“The biggest thing that happened was the quarterback got hit in the head,” Jackson said. “Taunting? Does that really matter? I mean, really? That, to me, made no sense.” The Patriots and the NFL didn’t know that Antonio Brown would be sued for sexual assault and rape before he signed with New England. But Brown definitely did.Ian Rapoport of the NFL reports that Brown and his accuser, Britney Taylor, “engaged in settlement talks for months” before the lawsuit was filed. It’s not a surprise. Most civil lawsuits are preceded by an effort to resolve them before the legal process begins. In a case like this, including inflammatory allegations of a shocking nature against a high-profile athlete, a potential settlement has greater monetary value before the case is filed Noah Fant Jersey , because the defendant is buying not just a resolution of the claims but a guarantee that no one will ever know about it (like former Panthers owner Jerry Richardson did, before one or more of the persons who had settled their claims against him violated confidentiality agreements for which they had received fair and proper compensation). For an NFL player subject to the league’s P.R.-driven Personal Conduct Policy, which polices a player’s private life even in cases where the police never get involved, there’s even greater value in preventing knowledge of the allegations from ever coming to light. There’s even more value in securing a promise from the accuser to never talk to anyone about it, including the NFL ? especially when the NFL has the power to suspend Brown or, if the allegation of rape is true, banish him for life. The demands made by the accuser’s lawyers during settlement talks aren’t known; the clunky statement issued by Brown’s lawyer in the immediate aftermath of the filing of the lawsuit hinted at $1.6 million as the asking price. If that’s the opener, it quite likely could have been negotiated down to half of that or less. If that’s the bottom line, Brown may eventually wish he’d paid it.While it may seem crass to consider allegations of sexual assault and rape in these terms, Brown’s accuser chose to make those allegations exclusively via a process that dispenses judgment through the transfer of money. The fact that settlement talks occurred for “months? before the lawsuit was filed underscores the reality that she decided to exercise her absolute right to attempt to obtain justice through the pursuit of financial compensation. That said, once the lawsuit is filed Dalton Risner Jersey , the value of the case drops, because a large portion of that value comes from never filing the lawsuit in the first place. If, however, Brown’s lawyers were to somehow reach a deal before Britney Taylor meets with the NFL on Monday, they would be doing much more than helping Brown avoid an adverse verdict in a court of law. They could be helping him avoid paid leave and, ultimately, a suspension.

While much of the focus on Lamar Jackson heading into the 2019 season has been on whether he’s made progress as a passer Julian Love Jersey , it isn’t the only area of his game that was in need of improvement.Jackson fumbled 12 times during the 2018 regular season, which was the most in the league by a wide margin. The quarterback fumbled three more times in the Ravens’ playoff loss to the Chargers, so it is clearly something he needed to clean up this offseason. On Tuesday, Jackson said that mission has been accomplished. Jackson said he’s “fixed” the problem and that his only concern for the regular season is winning. Head coach John Harbaugh stopped short of declaring things fixed, but did say they are much improved.“I think it’s been way better. Just watching the practices, you probably saw it,” Harbaugh said, via the team’s website. “Lamar makes very few mistakes with ball handling right now. The snaps have been much more accurate than they have in the past, so that starts everything off on the right foot. You haven’t seen a lot of the more complicated ball-handling plays, but the ones we have run have been well done.”The more complicated plays will come in the regular season and those results will determine whether this problem’s been fully licked or not. DENVER (AP) — Von Miller declared earlier this season that his job was to “sack quarterbacks and tell jokes.”With half a sack to show for chasing around Ben Roethlisberger all afternoon, Denver’s superstar chose not to talk about the Broncos grappling their way back to relevance but instead channeled Bill Belichick and his “We’re on to Cincinnati” credo following a stirring 24-17 win over the Steelers. With the Bengals up next http://www.giantsauthorizedshops.com/aut...ton-jersey , Miller figured a stand-up routine was in order as he donned a hoodie and a poker face as he stepped up to the microphone, staring ahead, seemingly emotionless.Miller could have used his postgame news conference to shower praise on a resilient team that has scratched and clawed its way back into the AFC playoff picture by beating the Chargers (8-3) and Steelers (7-3-1) in consecutive weeks.Although he mentioned Shelby Harris and Will Parks had “incredible games,” every question generated short, clipped, monotone answers that ended with “We’re on to Cincinnati.”While Belichick uttered the phrase over and over to show he wasn’t going to let his team harp on an embarrassing loss to the Chiefs in 2014, Miller either hoped to highlight the Broncos’ one-game-at-a-time approach or he wanted to be funny.Seven times Miller answered, “We’re on to Cincinnati” — cutting off the last question mid-sentence to reiterate his point — before the Broncos’ public relations staff put a merciful end to it and Miller walked off the stage, sticking out his tongue in a mischievous manner as he left. The Broncos’ captain missed a chance to heap praise on Parks for a never-say-die play in which the safety chased down a tight end about to score on a 24-yard catch-and-run and popped the ball loose an inch from the goal line and out of bounds by the pylon for a touchback. He didn’t really highlight the game-sealing interception by Harris, the nose tackle who has found a home in Denver after getting cut seven times by the Raiders, Cowboys and Jets — and who coach Vance Joseph revealed Monday came within a week of getting waived by the Broncos in 2017 Quinnen Williams Jersey , too.Miller didn’t talk at all about the Broncos’ other star, cornerback Chris Harris Jr., who had one of Denver’s four takeaways and helped quiet Antonio Brown, who had piled up 189 yards and two touchdowns on Harris the last time the All-Pros squared off.Miller didn’t laud cornerback Bradley Roby for bouncing back from surrendering a long touchdown pass to force a key fumble in the fourth quarter that ignited the Broncos’ comeback. He didn’t say anything about Case Keenum’s third straight game without an interception, Emmanuel Sanders‘ big day against his former team, tight end Matt LaCosse’s first career touchdown or Phillip Lindsay’s 110-yard rushing performance. He didn’t mention safety Justin Simmons‘ second blocked field goal of the season, something nobody thought would be possible anymore when the NFL tightened the rule book in the offseason, eliminating the running starts, which are something Simmons proved he doesn’t need in order to leap linemen. And he didn’t really say anything about Joseph following the second-year coach’s signature win.Miller often pulls stunts like tripping on the podium to lighten the mood at his mid-week news conferences but on Sunday night, he never broke character to laugh off his corny jokes or shtick to answer honest questions with honest answers like he normally does.“It’s on to Cincinnati,” he said one last time to crickets before exiting http://www.jetsauthorizedshops.com/authe...ite-jersey , at which point he might as well have added, “Is this mic on?”Week 12 was chock full of other curious, even costly, calls, including Melvin Gordon running a reverse with the Chargers comfortably ahead only to get leg-whipped and injured in the third quarter of a 45-10 win over Arizona, and Hue Jackson getting emotionally stiff-armed by Baker Mayfield when he went in for the hug with his old QB.NO REVERSE REMORSEGordon will miss the Chargers’ game at Pittsburgh this weekend and maybe many more. But Chargers coach Anthony Lynn didn’t second-guess his call like so many fans are doing because he figured he had to stay aggressive even with a 28-10 lead.Gordon rushed for 61 yards and two touchdowns before getting leg-whipped on the reverse.“That’s a play we’ve had in for a long time, and we’ve been trying to get it called in a game,” Lynn said. “It’s a play that if we get around the perimeter, he would still be running. They made a heck of a play and hit us in the backfield.”Gordon has already scored a career-high 13 times and is a major reason the Chargers are 8-3 for the first time since 2009.HANDSHAKE BUT NO HUGMayfield and his former head coach didn’t hug it out but they did shake hands after the Browns quarterback led Cleveland to a 35-20 win over the Bengals, whom Jackson joined as a special defensive assistant following his firing by the Browns.“I didn’t feel like talking,” Mayfield said Chuma Edoga Jersey , adding he was motivated by Jackson leaving for the Bengals. “Left Cleveland, goes down to Cincinnati, I don’t know. It’s just somebody that was in our locker room, asking for us to play for him, and then goes to a different team we play twice a year.”Mayfield has nine touchdowns and one interception in the three games since Gregg Williams replaced Jackson, who started the season with Tyrod Taylor as his quarterback before an injury opened an opportunity for Mayfield, who had eight TDs and six interceptions before Williams took over.“We have people that we believe in calling the plays now,” Mayfield said.

When the Lions lace them up for a meaningless regular-season home finale on Sunday http://www.jaguarscheapshop.com/cheap-au...-ii-jersey , they’ll have quarterback Matthew Stafford under center. The real question is whether they should.Stafford, who has been limited in every practice for the past two weeks with a back injury, is expected to play on Sunday against the Vikings, via Adam Schefter of ESPN. As MDS recently noted Marquise Brown Jersey , these are the same Vikings that bruised and battered Stafford for double-digit sacks earlier this year. The same Vikings that had nine sacks of Ryan Tannehill last Sunday. The same Vikings that will again come after Stafford hard, given that Minnesota still needs to win in order get to the playoffs. With so much money invested in Stafford for 2019, there’s no reason to take any chances with his potential availability for next season. It’s the same reason why the Panthers have shut down quarterback Cam Newton, and why the Packers should consider shutting down quarterback Aaron Rodgers. And so there’s plenty to lose and little to gain http://www.ravensfootballauthentics.com/...-authentic , and by late Sunday afternoon the Lions could end up regretting not giving Stafford time off to heal whatever it is that’s currently wrong with his back. Derek Anderson, a veteran quarterback who spent most of his time in the NFL as a backup but had one out-of-nowhere Pro Bowl season with the Browns in 2007, has retired. The Bills announced today that Anderson told them he’s going to retire rather than staying on the roster as Josh Allen‘s backup. The 35-year-old Anderson, who entered the NFL as a sixth-round draft pick out of Oregon State in 2005 Miles Boykin Jersey , has spent time with the Ravens, Browns, Cardinals and Panthers before signing with the Bills last year. In his third NFL season and first as a regular starter, he surprised everyone by throwing for 3 Deandre Baker Jersey ,787 yards and 19 touchdowns and leading the Browns to a 10-6 record — their best record since returning to the NFL as an expansion team in 1999.But Anderson never replicated that success, and spent the last decade as primarily a backup who would occasionally start in case of an injury. At 35, Anderson has apparently decided he’s done everything he’s going to do in the NFL.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SATURDAY, 16TH NOVEMBER.

GIVE NO FOOTHOLD TO SATAN

Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me (John 14:30).

The Bible teaches that demon spirits are real, and they can influence, torment and even possess anyone who gives them the chance. That’s the reason you must not give the devil room or opportunity in your life (Ephesians 4:27), and the way to ensure that is living in the light of God’s Word.

It doesn’t matter that you’re a church member, a pastor or senior minister; there’re no “no-go” areas for demons. They only bow to God’s Word. If the Word isn’t in you, that’s a slippery slope. God’s Word is light, and light repels darkness.

The Bible admonishes that we walk in the light, as He is in the light. When you walk in the light of Christ, Satan has nothing in you. In our theme verse, Jesus said, “…the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.” It’s important that you check your life— you look into the mirror of God (His Word)—to examine yourself.

Anger, malice, bitterness, etc., are all from Satan, and if you have them in you, you’re giving him a foothold in your life: “When angry, do not sin; do not ever let your wrath (your exasperation, your fury or indignation) last until the sun goes down. Leave no [such] room or foothold for the devil [give no opportunity to him]” (Ephesians 4:26- 27 AMPC).

Anger is a spirit; bitterness is a spirit; hatred is a spirit. These aren’t just emotions. Just as every part of God has His personality, every part of Satan has his personality. So, refuse to accommodate anything from the devil; rather, walk in the love of Christ; be gracious and kind. Yield your faculties—your entire being—to the Word, and to the Holy Spirit for the glory of God and life of righteousness to be seen and revealed in you.

CONFESSION

I have the light of life; there’s nothing of darkness in my life! I’m full of joy, peace, love, kindness and continually filled with the Spirit, as I walk in the light of Christ! Blessed be God!

Sue me or shut up - Tuface tells Blackface

Nigerian singer Tuface has reacted to Blackface's continous threat of suing him on air and via social media.

The ex-band member of defunct Plantashun Boiz who is celebrating his 20 years on stage anniversary alleged that what Blackface has done so far is to engage in a smear campaign.

Tuface told The Sun that his former bandmate has a problem but no one knows what the problem is.

Quote:He said "Let me put it like this, you just go on air and start spinning lies. I have never said or done anything bad to Blackface, but he just goes on air and starts lying all the time because he wants to spread hate. It is a smear campaign.
"He keeps saying he is going to sue me, so I am saying sue me! You know say I no thief your song, you just want people to hate me. Stop the nonsense. Anytime he comes on air, ask him ‘wetin im do wey make me sue am? Ask am whether I no write am letter before say guy stop this thing, I did not steal your song’. What have I done to him? He just hates me. It has become an obsession and it is not healthy for him anymore and there is nothing I can say or do to help his dilemma, so I don’t know. It is not like I am giving up, but it is all up to him now. He has to free himself from that bondage.
"Everyday, he keeps digging himself into this mess and now he has kids growing up. It is unfortunate. Before, I was quiet but he is always blabbing. Had I taken it serious from the beginning, we wouldn’t be here today. Legally, I have done my own bit, so I don’t have anything to tell him. The funny thing is that he has a problem but nobody knows what the problem is. So, if you will not sue me then shut up! Stop killing yourself; it is becoming too embarrassing. I can’t get him arrested and sent to a psychiatric hospital, so please, people around him should talk to him."

‘I fully support and subscribe to the closure of Nigerian land borders’ – Governor El-Rufai

Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai has backed the Federal Government’s decision to close Nigeria’s land borders.

El-Rufai was a special guest at the graduation of Senior Course Three of the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada, Abuja on Friday, November 15th said it is unfair for smaller countries to be sabotaging a big country like Nigeria.

He said the step taken was commendable. He explained that Nigeria like any other country likes to trade with other countries but added that there must be fairness. The Governor noted that closure of the borders should be sustained until there were established deals that covered every country.

Quote:“The partial closure of borders is highly commendable. Nigeria is the largest country in West Africa and the continent and it is clear that our neighbours are using our openness and brotherhood to trade, to exploit us.
“I fully support and subscribe to the closure of borders and we should sustain it for as long as possible. We need to do this for our country to have a fair deal and for our manufacturers to be protected. All those talking about free trade or preaching about it today closed their borders for centuries and decades ago.
“Nigeria must grow its internal capacity, we will not do so if we allow our neighbours to use the porosity of our borders to sabotage our economy,’’ he explained.

The accident happened on Thursday afternoon on the resort island of Ko Samui in southern Thailand. Local Police said the French holidaymaker was with a friend, Thomas Mechin, who witnessed the incident.

A Spanish tourist died in the same spot several months ago, Samui tourist police officer Poowadol Wiriyanarangkul said.

A friend that accompanied him saw the man take pictures and fall’’ about a height equivalent to a three-storey house, he said.
Police have already contacted the deceased relatives.  Although a preliminary coroner’s report has yet to be issued, Police believe the tourist died from a fractured skull.

Sowore, Dasuki and El-Zakzaky opted for DSS custody instead of prison - DSS

The Department of State Services (DSS) on Friday November 15, debunked claims of disobeying court orders by stating that the former National Security Adviser, NSA, Sambo Dasuki; leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Shiek Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and #RevolutionNow convener, Omoleye Sowore opted to remain in their custody instead of prison.

The Secret Police backed its claim by recounting how El-Zakzaky opted to return to its custody even after being granted leave to seek medical care in India.

Quote:A statement released by the DSS spokesman Peter Afunanya read “There has been outcry about alleged illegal detention of some notable persons undergoing trials at the Courts and disobedience to Court Orders by the Service. To put the records straight, the Service wishes to advert public attention to the circumstances that warranted the custody of Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd.) and Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky in its facility.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the duo had appealed to the Courts to be left in the custody of the Service instead of being taken to the Correctional Centres. Well meaning Nigerians are equally witnesses to the case of Omoleye Sowore, who, on a similar order of the Court, was to be remanded at the Kuje or Suleja Centre, but preferred to be kept at the DSS.”

Afunanya stated that these personalities opted to stay in DSS custody because their holding facilities are good and within acceptable international standards. He added that they extend the best courtesies to their detainees by allowing access to people and use of other facilities like telephones, gym, TV, newspapers and medical facilities.

The DSS spokesperson maintained that it is not in the character of the agency to join issues with persons or groups.

Quote:“Against the wrong perception that the Service held these persons in defiance to Court Orders, it is obvious, by the above explanations, that they rather chose to be looked after by the DSS.
"This is simply because the Service’s holding facilities are good and within acceptable international standards" the statement added.

BREAKING: Buhari on his way back to Nigeria

President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to arrive in Nigeria late Friday, sources close to the presidency have told PREMIUM TIMES.

The president’s flight was said to have taken off from Stansted Airport, London, at about 3:27 p.m. Nigerian time.

Sources at the presidency said they have been asked to be at the airport by 7:30 p.m. to welcome the president, who is expected to arrive at about 9 p.m.

The president has been on a 15–day “private visit” in the United Kingdom since November 2. He was due to return on November 17.

On Thursday, a Nigerian diplomatic car believed to have been carrying the president was booed by an angry mob in the UK.

Many of the protesters carried placards calling for freedom for the detained publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore. Others condemned the treatment of the leader of the Shiite movement in Nigeria, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.

“Buhari, Stop Poisoning Sheikh Zakzaky,” one of the placards read.

“Omoyele Sowore is not a criminal,” another placard read.

Aisha Buhari Supports Yahaya Bello’s Second Term Bid, Gets Blasted (photos)

First Lady Aisha Buhari has come under attack on social media for supporting the second term bid of Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello.

Mrs Buhari was at the All Progressives Congress rally in Lokoja on Thursday alongside party leaders – national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole; Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State – and others.

She joined in begging Kogi people to forgive Bello for not paying civil servants.

Nigerians on Twitter have accused Aisha of hypocrisy, saying she accused Buhari’s government of being hijacked by a cabal which did not have the people’s best interest at heart, yet she was supporting a governor who is owing salaries.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan zonal office, has arrested two blood brothers for extorting internet fraudsters with promises of shielding them from arrest by the Commission.

A statement from the antigraft agency says the siblings – Olatunji Joe Beyioku, 35, and Oluwayomi Beyioku, 37, were arrested in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Friday, November 15, 2019, during a sting operation.

EFCC operatives had embarked on discreet investigations into the activities of the suspects when it was discovered that they were in the habit of the extorting ‘Yahoo Boys’ to help them evade arrest by the EFCC.

The suspects claimed to be spy police officers with the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, and have ‘assisted’ the Commission with information on the whereabouts of internet fraudsters within the town, but it was discovered that they only expose those who failed to meet their demand, while others willing and ready to play ball are shielded.

It was also discovered that they have made several million of naira sabotaging the Commission’s efforts and live large therefrom.

A search conducted on the younger brother’s palatial residence along Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway suggested that they may be living far above their means. Items found in the multi-million naira building also raised suspicion of the brothers’ possible involvement in other forms of criminal activities.

Items recovered from them include two cars, Honda Accord Crosstour and a Mercedes Benz GLK, different brands of mobile phones and charms.
