Man brutalizes his wife for slamming the door.

A lady was, today, left bloodied by her husband for allegedly slamming the door against him at their Abuja home.

According to the remorseless husband, he had warned her, on several occasions, against the act, but she has refused to change, hence the beating.

However, an eyewitness, in a chat said: “I am so bitter this evening. I was sleeping when noise in the neighborhood woke me up, so I rushed out to see what was happening.

Behold, a woman lying down on the ground with a lot of blood. I asked people what happened and I was told that the husband beat her to that extent.

I looked and saw the husband still quarreling with people who came to know what the wife did. He spoke with no sign of remorse towards people and even attempted fighting people too.

I was told he has been maltreating and assaulting his wife for 2years now, but the wife can’t summon courage to go because her parents are dead and she doesn't know anywhere else to go.

I asked about her relations, if any is Abuja, but they said they don't know. I could see the wife’s pain.

Even though she was bleeding people around didn’t really care about her state of health. No one offered to take her to hospital. All they were just doing was heaping curses on the husband but totally ignored the bleeding wife.

Police later came and took both to their station. This man will definitely kill that woman one day if he is not stopped. According to the husband, she banged the door against him, despite warning her not to do that.”

Miss Earth Contestants Reportedly Offered Victory In Return For Sex
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 11-18-2018, 05:08 PM - No Replies

Miss Earth contestants were plagued by a “creepy” sponsor who offered them victory in return for sexual favours, the UK winner has claimed.

Abbey-Anne Gyles-Brown, 21, said the man demanded the number of her hotel room and wanted her to join him at his house along with “sexy dancing Latinas”.

She said:

“From day one he was a bit creepy. He tried to take each of us away, telling us he had historic artefacts upstairs but there was only room for one of us at a time.
“He was weird and we all said ‘no’. When I complained, my team manager told me he was just ‘friendly’. I was made to feel like I was being dramatic.”

Abbey-Anne, from Northampton, says the businessman gave her his card at an official dinner on his yacht, saying she could call “any time” for “anything”.
At another event he asked for her room number.
Abbey-Anne went on:

“He said he could get me further in the competition if I gave him my number. It was in a public setting and I didn’t want to show myself up so I politely put him in his place. He approached again and said he had ‘sexy Latinas’ coming to his house to dance with him, did I want to join? I went to my team managers and reported it. My team manager laughed in my face and said I was being petty.
“The photographer said ‘don’t cry, you’ll ruin your make-up’.”

Two others accused him of being a pest – one saying he grabbed her bare bum.
But when Abbey-Anne, 21, complained to organisers, she claims nothing was done and was even told: “Don’t cry – you’ll ruin your make-up.”

Abbey-Anne is Miss Earth England and flew to the Philippines for the global version of the eco event honouring “beauty for a cause”.
But she said the month-long trip was ruined by the alleged sex pest.

Miss Earth 2018: Miss Vietnam
Abbey-Anne is a youth activist for Clean Up Britain and hoped success in the Philippines would boost her environmental protection work.
She joined 86 national winners and the crown went to Vietnam’s Nguyen Phuong Khanh, 24.
Abbey-Anne came home dejected. She said:

“I was heartbroken. I’d put four years of hard work into something I really believed in.”
She claims an official complaint was ignored by organisers. Miss Earth Canada Jaime VandenBerg, 21, claims the same man harassed her for two weeks.

Morning Devotional For Sunday 18th November

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SUNDAY, 18TH NOVEMBER.

PARTAKERS OF “ONE BREAD”.

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust (2 Peter 1:4).

In John 6:32-33, in response to the Jews, Jesus said, “…Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.” He emphasized this in John 6:49-50: “Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.” Here, He was talking about Himself; He’s the Living Bread!

The Word of God is the living bread which came down from heaven; the Word that became flesh. Jesus explained this in John 6:51. He said, “I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”

Then, 1 Corinthians 10:17 reveals something powerful; it says, “For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.” If we’re “one bread” with Him, it therefore means we have the same life, because we’re born of the Word (1 Peter 1:23), just as Jesus is the Word made flesh (John 1:14). Colossians 1:18 says, “And he (Christ) is the head of the body, the church….” The life in the body isn’t different from the life in the head. He’s the head, we’re the body; the head and the body share the same life.

No wonder 2 Peter 1:4 says we’re associates of the God-kind; we share His life, His glory, His righteousness, His health, prosperity, strength and authority! This is what we affirm when we take the Holy Communion; it’s a celebration of our oneness with Him; we’re members of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones (Ephesians 5:30). Blessed be God!

CONFESSION

Christ is my life! In Him I live, move, and have my being! I’m a member of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones! I’m a partaker of His life, His righteousness, His glory, prosperity, health and dominion. I win all the time, and prosper in all I do, because the life and nature of God is at work in me. Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY:

Ephesians 5:30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

1 Corinthians 6:17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

1 John 4:17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

Ohaneze’s endorsement of Atiku is all chaff and no substance – President Buhari

[Image: Ohanezes-endorsement-of-Atiku-is-all-cha...00x337.jpg]
President Buhari who spoke at a meeting with a select group of South-east leaders on Friday, at the State House, Abuja, said that the split within the Ohanaeze Igbo socio-cultural group over its reported endorsement of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, did not surprise him.

According to President Buhari, after the so-called resolution was announced, he got calls from well-meaning leaders from the region asking him to disregard it as it was without any substance. The Nigerian President further added that the APC got it right from the very beginning, and the major problems facing the country were mainly on security, corruption and the economy.
“From that moment, I knew that the resolution would not stand, and alas, there it was.”
“We have done so much. Given the chance, we will do more. Given every chance, we will tell Nigerians where we were in 2015 and what we have achieved up to now.

“We will not get tired of speaking about the golden opportunity Nigeria lost during 16 years of the PDP. We earned money, which we didn’t use,” he said.
“The state of infrastructure we inherited was terrible – no roads, the railway was killed and power. They lacked conscience because anybody with conscience will not do what they did. We will report them to Nigerians. Let anybody lead this country but not the PDP. They were so reckless with the resources of the country,” the President said.
“If you ruin the economy, send your children abroad to get education, won’t they come back?” he asked, adding: “I said it 30 years ago that this is the only country we have. We must stay here and salvage it together.”

A lady who was almost robbed by a thief, ended up pinning him to the ground in an arm lock, drawing out screams and held him for 20 minutes until police arrived.
[Image: Lady-pins-thief-who-tried-robbing-her-to...00x337.jpg]
The female jiu-jitsu expert identified as Sabrina Leite, was reportedly in front of her house when two men on a motorbike came up to her. One of the 18-year-old robbers, reportedly walked up to the lady and told her to give him her mobile phone in the incident which occurred in Jorge Teixeira neighbourhood of Manaus, in Brazil.

“I could feel that they didn’t have anything (weapons), they just arrived scarily saying ‘pass the phone’. I saw they didn’t have anything and that’s why I reacted. If they had been armed I would never have reacted.”

Quote:[Image: Lady-pins-thief-who-tried-robbing-her-to...26x410.png]
The 22-year-old lady reportedly threw her phone into her house, and the suspect then reportedly got scared and tried to flee on the motorbike. However a neighbour drove into the suspect with his car.
She said: “He was running away. My neighbour went after him in the car and reached him.
Then I ran and immobilised him with a sleeper hold, I lay on the ground and put him in an arm lock.”
She told local news outlet G1 she learnt the arm lock through practising jiu-jitsu.
She added: “It’s all a question of technique. I have been training for four years, I’m still a white belt. Ranking and belts don’t matter to me.”

Caterpillar Accident Hits Agulu, Anambra State - Pictures

Strange things of ember month.

I have heard about car and truck break failure but not of caterpillar.

This happened along Golden Tulip Hotels road Agulu by Agulu Lake, a caterpillar which lost control on descend of the hill firstly knocked down a motorcycle before shattering a gulf with two persons onboard. An eyewitness said that the driver of the gulf on seeing the situation of the caterpillar tried to sway through but ran into a gutter which was where the caterpillar tried to use them as wedge but somersaulted after crushing it.

What marveled everyone who stopped by was how these guys all came out unharmed in spite of the total wreckage of the vehicle including the motorcyclist.

Truly, God is still working....

We may be good drivers but it takes the grace of God to guard and navigate us through... May God help us that we may not be victims of ember month

Stop dating married men – Dayo Amusa advises young women
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Gimbiya - 11-17-2018, 03:45 PM - No Replies

Nollywood actress, Dayo Amusa in a new interview advised young women to stop dating married men, as one day they will be wives and mothers and would not want the same thing to happen to them.
[Image: Stop-dating-married-men-%E2%80%93-Dayo-A...00x337.jpg]
Dayo Amusa also stated that dating multiple men may not give one an option of a perfect man, as it sometimes leads to confusion.
“Frankly, as a public figure and based on what I stand for, I would not encourage a young lady to chase after married men. Some might say that married men would take good care of them, but it is wrong. It is not something I would encourage the youth to do.
“Also, I do not think that having numerous boyfriends gives you the privilege of having a perfect guy as it could even cause confusion at some point,” she said.
The actress further stated in the interview with Saturday Beats,  that there was really nothing wrong with actors choosing to live fake lives, as she described their business as make-believe.
“Although social media is a platform that is meant to provide opportunities for people, sadly, most people are misusing it. I do not see the big deal in any artiste going on social media to live a particular life because it is called showbiz. You have to ‘show’ for the business to grow.
“You have to brand yourself and make people see that you can promote their products well through the lifestyle you depict. If that is what people mean by fake life then it is fine. As an artiste, we live in a make-believe world which means that 80 per cent of the things you see us do on screen and even on social media are make-believe.
“It is totally different from my personality. I might be at home and choose to tie a piece of cloth round my waist and drink garri. But if I would go on social media, I would not want to do that because some of my fans would be disappointed.
“I am not advising young women to pretend to be who they are not. What I am saying is that as an artiste, we need to ‘show’ for the business to grow. I am a very realistic person and I do not see myself as one of those fake ones” she said.

Operatives of the Inspector General of Police’s Special Intelligence Response Team, have arrested members of a kidnap gang notorious for selling children in Abia State
[Image: Kidnap-gang-notorious-for-selling-childr...00x367.jpg]
The arrested members of the kidnap gang include Kenneth Anaba, Emmanuel Izuchukwu, Ikechukwu Ajagbu, Joshua Samuel, Emmanuel Azumara, Chinedu Samuel, Ukonu Anurika, Chidinma Okpara, Chimezie Okpara and Favour Christopher. The suspects were reportedly arrested after they kidnapped a woman in September 2018, in Aba, Abia State, and collected a ransom of $13,000 (approximately N4.7m at the official exchange rate of N363 to $1) from the hostage’s relatives before she was released.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari headed the team of IRT operatives that tracked down the suspects, after the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, received several complaints about the gang’s activities in the state.

Members of the kidnap gang notorious for selling children had escaped from Abia State Police Command’s Criminal Investigation Department in 2017, and reportedly stole some police rifles and went on to form different dangerous kidnapping gangs across the state.
Punch reported that after the IRT operatives stormed Abia State and interacted with some kidnapped victims, they discovered that the leader of one of the gangs terrorising the state, Kenneth Anaba, was part of the group of the inmates who escaped from Abia State Police Command’s State Criminal Investigation Department with police rifles, in 2017.
Anaba’s gang broke up and the other faction began to kidnap and sell little children. Anaba was trailed to his hideout at Ogbor Hill area of Abia State and he was arrested with the help of one of his girlfriends. It was further gathered that an AK-47 rifle belonging to the police was recovered from him, and he confessed to have carried out several kidnappings in Abia State.

Speaking to newsmen, the 29-year-old suspect revealed that he was arrested after his first operation, as the vehicle which was snatched from the man they kidnapped was tracked to him.

“I was arrested early last year when some of my friends and I kidnapped a man with my car along Force Road and we took the man to our camp at Ogbor Hill, where he was for four days until a ransom of N500,000 was paid.
“My share of the money was N150,000; I also took possession of the man’s vehicle, a Toyota Highlander, which I took to a hotel around Ogbor Hill. The police tracked the vehicle to where I was and I was arrested. I was detained at State CID, Umuhia, and I led the police to arrest my friend known as Chikodi Akoma, who introduced me to kidnapping,” he said.

On how he was able to escape with his cohort, Anaba said;

“While we were in custody the gate of the cell was left open so we stole five police rifles and escaped. I went to Aba where I started robbing people with the guns we stole.”

He explained how he recruited his friends to join his notorious gang and they began rob in the state.

The jail term of former Governor of Taraba State, Jolly Nyame has also been reduced by Justice Abdul Aboki-led three-man panel of the Court of Appeal.
[Image: Court-also-reduces-jail-term-of-former-G...00x337.jpg]
The jail term of former Governor Jolly Nyame was reduced from 14 to 12 years, and a fine of N495m was imposed on the convict, a fine that the lower court had omitted while dispensing the earlier sentence.

The panel at the appeal court, held that the lower court erred when it took it upon itself not to impose fine, as such in counts 1, 2 and 6 that have to do with criminal breach of trust.
Nyame who was said to have embezzled the money through shoddy stationery contracts which he awarded at the tail of his eight years administration in 2007, was sentenced to 14 years imprisonment after being convicted of misappropriating N1.64billion from the state’s treasury by a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Gudu, Abuja earlier this year.

Operatives of the NDLEA have arrested two fake policemen, who were conveying 50 bags of dried weeds, suspected to be cannabis sativa and weighing 685 kilogrammes, along Okpella-Okene road.
[Image: Fake-policemen-smuggling-cannabis-in-Edo...00x289.jpg]
The fake policemen who were arrested in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State, operated with a black Toyota Hiace bus, marked Ondo AKR 392 LZ and labelled with stickers of the emblem of the Nigeria Police.
Speaking to newsmen on the arrest of the suspects, Edo State Commander of the agency, Mr. Buba Wakawa who identified the fake policemen as one Matthew Onumba and Ojukwu Henry, described them as members of a drug syndicate specialised in smuggling cannabis from the South to North-West region of the country.

According to NDLEA Boss,  the bus had reportedly taken off from Uzebba, in the Owan West Local Government Area of the state, en route to Kaduna State, when it was intercepted during a search operation by officers of the agency. It was gathered that the arrested suspects, also attached a siren to the vehicle in a bid to evade security checks by the police.

“The black bus (Toyota), with tainted glass, had a siren and police stickers both at the front and rear to deceive unsuspecting members of the public as well as security personnel. It has all the paraphenalia of an official police vehicle but all is a ruse.
“So much has been invested into this operation and I am glad that our efforts have been rewarded” he said.

Between an Old Buharist and the New Buharideens – Dele Momodu writes
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Gimbiya - 11-17-2018, 01:10 PM - No Replies

Nigerian media personality, Dele Momodu has written a new article and in this he compared Old Buharist and the New Buharideens.
[Image: Between-an-Old-Buharist-and-the-New-Buha...00x337.jpg]
Here is the article from Dele Momod below;

Fellow Nigerians, today’s epistle was inspired last minute by an encounter I had last night with a Buharideen. I had been contemplating what to write about this week when I ran into a staff of Indomie Noodles, the most popular noodle-processing company possibly in Africa, at a restaurant in Ikeja, Lagos.
The gentleman had walked up to me for a quick chat, which was perfectly in order, as far as I was concerned. Indeed, this is a regular occurrence most places I go. It is always likely that I run into those who usually walk up to me to request selfies or general discussion. And so, this young man announced himself as my fan. He did not stop there, he said he follows me on Twitter and enjoys my tweets but added matter-of-factly, so to say, that he does not always agree with me. I responded that I was grateful for his appreciation of me and his following, but I added that two people can never agree on everything, all the time.
Out of curiosity, I asked what his points of disagreements were. Before, he could answer, I already smelt a rat and so volunteered a guess. “Is it anything to do with Buhari?” I asked calmly. He replied in the affirmative, “yes it is…” Here we go again, I soliloquised. These days, I hate going into unnecessary and unproductive conversations with those who have been given the nomenclature “Buharideens” on social media. A Buharist is a mild and reasonable supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari.
I belonged in that category between 2014-15. Not anymore. I like the President as a person, but his politics and economics leave much to be desired. I can write a PhD thesis on this subject. Back to definitions. On the other hand, a Buharideen is a blind and rabid supporter of Buhari. He does not, and will never see, anything wrong in Buhari, even if you supply all the evidence in the world. It is always a waste of time to engage such political fundamentalists in argument or dialogue. In the course of this election process, I expect that Atiku will probably also sprout such rabid followership. Such is the fervent, unfortunate passion that elections can engender in this country.
‘Why do you disagree with my position on Buhari?” I probed. “Buhari is still the best Nigeria can offer in the present circumstance…” Hmmm, I sighed. “What are your reasons for saying so?” I had pricked him at that moment and he wasted no time in launching a diatribe of sorts. “Only thieves and looters won’t appreciate this government. Things have improved even if not perfect under Buhari.” I laughed raucously. I was used to those lines whenever I encounter the Buharideens. Everyone is a thief and looter, or friends of corrupt people, except members of their group. Not to worry.
I decided to take him on, even if I didn’t have the luxury of time at hand. “Do you know your party APC and your Presidential candidate would find it hard to campaign with his strongest weapon, anti-corruption, when tomorrow comes, because APC is heavily populated by the same so-called looters who migrated from PDP. I have not read it anywhere that they were screened out or rejected by your party, rather they have been promptly and amply protected by your party…” He nodded in agreement, but still argued that APC was a much better party despite the obvious hiccups and conflicts of interests.
It won’t be hyperbolic to describe APC as being seriously hypocritical, I told my new friend. I reeled out names of the certified and certificated kingpins of corruption in Nigeria who have ensconced and embedded within the APC without as much as a whimper from the leadership of the party. My friend kept mute, as if thinking hard on how to tackle me. But I kept punching him with facts and my wide knowledge of Nigerian politics.
He tried to wriggle out by going totally banal. “We should just let Buhari complete his second term so that power can return to the South West after that.” Almost spontaneously, I exploded: “who told you power would shift to the South West in 2023?” My friend said “it will, if we support Buhari now…” but I disagreed most vehemently and tried to educate him a bit.
“If you are talking of zoning, then you are wrong to assume that it is a binding agreement. When Buhari contested in 2003, who was in power? Obasanjo, a Yoruba man. When Buhari contested in 2007, who was in power? Yar’Adua, his kinsman from Katsina State. When Buhari contested in 2011, who was in power? Jonathan, from the oil rich Bayelsa State in the South South, and he was merely completing the term given to him divinely after his boss died in power. When Buhari contested in 2015, who was in power?
Jonathan, who was serving his own first term as President and was seeking a second term, the first time a President from the region that lays the golden eggs was in that position. Did anyone, including Buhari, give any consideration to those facts? Did Buhari not contest against Obasanjo? Why did he not say that it was the turn of the South West and so he would abstain and wait for the time when it was the North’s turn. This is the charade and chicanery on display by the promoters of zoning, which does not even exist in our Constitution.” I concluded.
My friend said no one can stop power coming back to the South. I asked if the South West was the only zone in the South and why he feels the South East or South South cannot have it. “Are the Igbos not Nigerians or why do you think they can’t contest and win the Presidency?” I wondered. My friend said the Igbos have not aligned with a realistic power base which is currently controlled by Buhari. So, I noticed and noted that the strategy of APC in the South West is to brainwash the people of the region into deluding themselves that power is coming back to them very soon as compensation for supporting Buhari. This is so naïve and simplistic. I warned my friend that as we speak, those who are already warming up for the 2023 Presidential election are not limited, or restricted, to any particular zone.

The nonsensical impression that this jejune assumption creates is that some people hold the levers of power as personal property which can be dashed out to anyone, or a group of people, at will, but this is a total fallacy. From the issue of zoning, my friend introduced another reason Buhari must continue as President. He claimed that this is because there is no viable alternative to him. I queried what the man was saying. How can anyone say there is no alternative in a country of nearly 200 million people? I told him that was virtually untrue. It would be pathetic of us as a nation if we believe such foolishness.
Exceptional talents abound, in their multitude, that can take us to the promised land. He asked if I can support an Atiku as President of Nigeria and I answered, “why not?’. I felt his next line even before he regurgitated it. “But Atiku is a very corrupt man…” He started the usual vituperations against a man no one has ever tried in a court of Law since leaving office in 2007. No one has even invited Atiku to explain his source of wealth. I told my friend to perish the idea of thinking I, or indeed, any rational man, would ever join his ilk in maligning a soul just for the fun of it. When did allegation become conviction? I informed him clearly that if that is the only way APC hopes to tackle Atiku, it won’t hold much water.
He also exhibited a dangerous mind-set which is presently the fall-back position when Buharideens are cornered. “Where did Atiku get his wealth from?”. He felt he had delivered to me what he must have thought was a sucker punch, but I responded in kind. “Why is it that your members rejoice and gloat about poverty instead of celebrating achievement. If most of our leaders did what Atiku has done in retirement, our country won’t be in this mess. At least Atiku has invested heavily in Nigeria and profited in the process. He should be commended instead of being criminalised without proof. Not everyone possesses this type of business acumen” I added.
He could see he wouldn’t be able to browbeat me about the usual jargons of portraying APC as a party of angels, so he announced he had to go. He appeared sober and subdued. Before he left, I fired another shot. “How about your primaries? I’m reading all sorts? Would you say elections were held in many places? Where they held, would you say they were democratic? And what about the sordid allegations of bribery and corruption levelled by aggrieved members, including our adorable First Lady?” These were more of rhetorical questions and I did not expect him to have immediate answers. It was obvious he was not proud of the lack of internal democracy and lurid accusations of corruption that has blighted the conduct of the party primaries and almost set his party ablaze. He quickly thanked me and disappeared into the night.
At least he could not abuse me frontally like most Buharideens do whenever you confront them with hard facts. For me democracy is always a game of continuous experiment. Every four years, a President must undergo a serious examination about his performance so far, as well as subject his physical and mental state to public scrutiny. Nothing suggests that he must be promoted automatically to a second term in office if majority of the people do not think he has performed creditably. I’m of the firm opinion that whoever I support this time would be dropped if he still does not meet expectations. Being a Buharist does not mean I will become a Buharideen.
There is no doubt that APC is seriously struggling to convince Nigerians that it deserves a second chance. While I won’t join those who claim APC has failed totally, I will support those who feel it has not lived up to its grandstanding pre-2015 election. I say this because we had great expectations. Notwithstanding the rot that had set into our political, social and economic psyche Nigerians believed that true change was desirable and possible. We voted for APC and Buhari on this basis. That change has only happened in very few cases and objective members of APC agree they have fumbled disappointingly.
Most of the areas that we wanted positive change in have turned out to be an embarrassing anti-climax for this government. I will applaud the President for some of the achievements of this government, but that is only because he is the titular head of government. Others, particularly the Vice-President and his economic team are to be commended for the fitful and irregular economic progress we are witnessing. The President himself has not personally shone brightly and is apparently surviving on a reputation that is at best jaded. The attitude of government to the rash of violence in the country is less than salutary. We were applauded for attacking President Jonathan over the shortcomings of his government but the Buharideens want Buhari to be treated like fresh eggs, or not to be touched at all.
Things must really change urgently and drastically in practically all facets for this government to have any realistic chance of winning the elections. It may not be too late. But the current trend and discourse is not going to help it. I believe people are tired of the same worn platitudes. There are many like me who feel our democratic rights to choose our preferred candidates are sacrosanct and must be respected. I will never abuse or stop anyone from campaigning or voting for Buhari and I don’t expect anyone to abuse me for my personal choice, like the Buharideens love to do.
I expect the battle of wits to start from next week. The first offensive is likely to be launched by former President Goodluck Jonathan when the book on his political life and stewardship is launched at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, on November 20, 2018. It promises to be a blockbuster event. The Buhari government has blamed the Jonathan government endlessly for its inability to perform as expected.
Former President Jonathan and his supporters would have the first major opportunity to launch a blistering attack on a government that rode to power on the crest of possessing the magic wand to cure the alleged cesspit of corruption and inefficiency they left behind. It is probably a time for Jonathan to compare and contrast. We may yet learn that it is not yet Uhuru, and the past three and a half years have been no more than running on the spot, if even that!
The only ace that the populace have is their democratic right to keep changing governments until we get it right. If we fail to make the right choice several times, that only improves our learning curve. Eventually, one day, our democratic education and experimentation will be complete, and we will throw up competent and capable candidates from whom we can make proper and informed choices. For now, the alternatives are stark. We can only make do with what we have and won’t keep a failed government just because we are afraid of the next. Who knows, where our salvation lies? God works, mysteriously.
There are interesting days and times ahead

Though Madam Kemi Olunloyo said she has forgiven, linda ikeji, she has reacted after Stella DimokoKorkus blasted Linda Ikeji for alleged theft.
[Image: Kemi-Olunloyo-reacts-as-Stella-DimokoKor...00x400.jpg]
Kemi Olunloyo took to her Instagram page to wade in on the apparent fight between Linda Ikeji and Stella DimokoKorkus.
The two who were once best of friends, seem to be at loggerheads, and below is what kemi has to say about it all;

#HNNGossip I’m the only NIGERIAN in the Top 10 pioneer bloggers in the world @time magazine 1999. Many of you were babies when this started in 2006. Linda is a blogger, Stella and I are Journalists. There is a big difference. Journalists who blog are called professional bloggers. Mr Aye Dee took Linda’s blog down for 29 hours because of copyright infringement. I was the first to fight for Linda behind the scenes and told you her blog will return live at midnight and it did plus I tweeted it #LIVE. My Twitter genius @tade355 go find me those tweets. I called my friend Sergei Brim co-founder of Google who linked with Google Nigeria. The beef here is long-standing. At the Nigerian Tribune in 2013, I was told to do a story on Nigeria’s top Female bloggers. When I compiled the list, Stella declined to be featured if Linda was on it. Next I was Linda’s victim. The 2013 gun story where she diminished my brand. I dropped the Tribune story and instead I wrote a story on how Nigerian bloggers have generally failed because of copying and syndicating each other. Linda also made fun of Stella’s oyinbo babies saying she slept with oil expats and didn’t know the father of her kids when she actually married one and had kids with him before they moved to Germany. I watched all this play out from 2005-2018. The solution now is Linda, keep your interns trained on photo credits and sourcing info. Someone will take down your blog permanently like what happened to Twitter. That could collapse your empire. Don’t let it happen!! We are web logging and logging the web is not all copy and paste. #WEBLOGGING without the we is what is termed blogging. You must credit and source content from the web meaning other people’s work. Cheers Kemi Olunloyo–Journalist????

I called my friend Sergei Brim co-founder of Google who linked with Google Nigeria. The beef here is long-standing. At the Nigerian Tribune in 2013, I was told to do a story on Nigeria's top Female bloggers. When I compiled the list, Stella declined to be featured if Linda was on it. Next I was Linda's victim. The 2013 gun story where she diminished my brand. I dropped the Tribune story and instead I wrote a story on how Nigerian bloggers have generally failed because of copying and syndicating each other. Linda also made fun of Stella's oyinbo babies saying she slept with oil expats and didn't know the father of her kids when she actually married one and had kids with him before they moved to Germany. I watched all this play out from 2005-2018. The solution now is Linda, keep your interns trained on photo credits and sourcing info. Someone will take down your blog permanently like what happened to Twitter. That could collapse your empire. Don't let it happen!! We are web logging and logging the web is not all copy and paste. #WEBLOGGING without the we is what is termed blogging. You must credit and source content from the web meaning other people's work.   Passenger sues British Airways after made to seat near fat man

British Airways has been sued for £10,000 by an aggrieved passenger, who was reportedly made to sit near a fat man he described as an ‘extremely large man’.
[Image: Passenger-sues-British-Airways-after-mad...00x337.jpg]
The 51-year-old passenger Stephen Prosser, who claimed that the incident in the 12-hour flight from Bangkok to Heatrow left him with personal injury and loss of earnings, further disclosed that the cabin crew ignored his complaints of getting injured if forced to sit next to the “extremely large” passenger, who he described as being 6ft 4in (1.93 metres) and weighing approximately 22 stone (140kg).

Prosser, who is 1.60 metres (5ft 3in), said: “he was that large that he had to force his buttocks between the arm rests of the seats. He sat with his knees wedged against the seat in front and the rest of his body was overspilling into my seat by some inches.
I was immediately aware that this was going to be problematic for me and I could feel the weight of his pure bulk putting lateral pressure on my upper body. This forced me into a position of unnatural posture.

Due to the size of him when he placed his arm down at times it would rest on my armrest, and he would accidentally turn the volume of my audio up to an extremely loud volume each time” he said.
However British Airways are denying the claims – stating Mr Prosser “did not not display any signs of injury” when leaving the flight. Timothy Salisbury, representing British Airways who claimed the passenger was exaggerating, said;

“You say the man reminded you of the late rugby player Jonah Lomu. Would you say that’s a colourful explanation? An exaggeration?”  Prosser replied: “Not at all.”

BREAKING: Kachikwu’s Appointment Absolves Buhari Of Blame As President/oil Minis
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 11-17-2018, 11:40 AM - No Replies

The Federal High Court in Abuja has declared that President Muhammadu Buhari cannot legally double as the Minister of Petroleum Resources.

The court made the declaration on Thursday while giving judgment in a suit filed last year by a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Dr. Olisa Agbakoba (SAN).

Agbakoba had, in the suit, urged the court to restrain Buhari from continuing to hold the office of the Minister of Petroleum Resources.

The SAN had contended that Section 138 of the 1999 Constitution forbids the President from “holding any other executive office or paid employment.”

In a statement on Friday by his office, Agbakoba said the court in deciding the case held that Buhari had not violated Section 138, since he is not directly in charge of the day-to-day running of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.

The court, according to the statement, said there would have been a violation if Buhari had not appointed someone else — Dr. Ibe Kachikwu — to oversee the day-to-day running of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.

The court explained that the phrase “hold” in Section 138 of the constitution “meant to preside, act, to possess, occupy or conduct the actual day to day running of the office.”

“Merely proclaiming/announcing that he (the President) was the Minister of Petroleum is not enough to conclude that he holds the office of minister,” the court reportedly declared.

In the suit, Agbakoba had said as a legal practitioner with 40 years’ experience and having checked the Constitution, he was convinced that President Muhammadu Buhari cannot legally hold the office of the Minister of Petroleum Resources and thus urged the court to sack him.

He contended that Buhari was not screened for the ministerial job by the Senate, as required by the constitution.

He urged the court to determine “whether, by virtue of Section 147(2) of the 1999 Constitution, the President can hold the office of the Minister of Petroleum Resources, without confirmation by the Senate of the National Assembly.”

In a 14-paragraph affidavit, which he personally deposed to in support of his suit, Agbakoba explained that the lawsuit was informed by the recent management crisis which engulfed the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, on account of disagreements between the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, and the Group Managing Director of the NNPC.

“I verily believe that the governance chaos in the NNPC could not have occurred if the President is not also the Minister of Petroleum Resources.

“I am aware that the NNPC provides up to 90 percent of the revenue accruing to Nigeria. I am worried that the crisis in the NNPC will greatly reduce Nigeria’s revenue-generating capacity and will affect the revenue distributable to federal, state and local governments in Nigeria.

“This will gravely affect development nationwide and drastically impact one and all Nigerians, including those in Anambra State (my state of origin) and Lagos State (my state of residence).

“I looked at Section 138 of the 1999 Constitution and I verily believe it disqualifies the President from holding executive office including that of the Minister of Petroleum, during his tenure of office as President.

“I know that the President did not go through nomination process and confirmation by the Senate, before holding the office of Minister of Petroleum Resources.

“I again looked at Section 147(2) of the 1999 Constitution and I verily believe it prohibits anybody from holding the office of a Minister of the Federation, without confirmation by the Senate,” Agbakoba had said.

  Certificate Scandals Threaten 2019 Dreams
User Avatar Forum: News

Quote:By Hamza Idris & Ozibo Ozibo, Andrew Agbese, Romoke W. Ahmad & Kabiru A. Anwar

The muddy waters of power has already made casualty of some politicians as politics, law and morality come to play ahead of the 2019 elections over the issue of academic and other qualifications with many politicians who have tasted the sweetness of office having sleepless nights to remain in the corridors of power amidst resistance by their opponents and ‘whistle blowers’.

The recent publication of particulars of candidates for various offices by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) showed a kind of “humility” by many aspirants who simply showcased the minimum academic qualifications required by law which is their secondary school results in order to shut out those trying to undermine them.

Findings by Daily Trust revealed that this is unlike what obtained in previous elections when aspirants looked for additional papers to fill in all sorts of certificates in the CF001 as required by INEC in line with Section 31 (3) of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended), which mandated the electoral empire to publish particulars of all candidates for public scrutiny.

Shortly after the latest publication by INEC, the debate on certificates, rather than issues relating to development, took the centre stage of political discuss.

President Buhari

On November 2, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) issued an “attestation certificate” to President Muhammadu Buhari after much furore.

Before the presentation, Buhari had been severely criticised by opposition politicians and activists soon after they scrutinized his particulars and discovered that he said his school certificate was still with the military authorities.

To a certain extent, the announcement by spokesperson, Femi Adesina, in a tweet from his verified handle that WAEC presented an attestation certificate and confirmation of school certificate result to President Buhari “softly” laid to rest, the debate over the matter though some people are still asking WAEC to indicate the exam number of the president, and even questioning the photograph used in the document.

Buhari was actually in the eye of the storm despite the fact that there are over 70 presidential aspirants in the race who have all showcased various kinds of certificates.

“What will the naysayers say next?” Adesina queried.

Buhari had experienced similar criticism ahead of the 2015 general elections when he was an opposition presidential candidate.

Bindow’s WAEC controversy

The certificate controversy surrounding the candidacy of Adamawa State governor, Muhammadu Jibrilla Bindow, came to public knowledge when the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court ordered an accelerated hearing of a case of certificate forgery filed by a non-governmental group, Incorporated Trustees of Global Integrity Crusade Network, against the governor.

There are fears that unless Governor Bindow escapes miraculously, he might likely be replaced by the APC ahead of next year’s election to avoid losing the governorship seat to the opposition if the court establishes that he actually forged the result he is claiming.

It is alleged that the governor who attended Government Secondary School Miango in Plateau State, did not sit for the final secondary school examination conducted by WAEC and therefore submitted a fake result to INEC in 2015 before he became governor.

Those who took him to court had already obtained and published a result with the serial number the governor is claiming but a different name. Ruling on the application for a motion experte brought before him on October 22, Justice B.O. Quadri granted the prayers of the plaintiff for accelerated hearing as well as leave to serve the originating summons on Governor Jibrilla and WAEC at their respective addresses in Adamawa and Lagos.

Those joined as defendants are WAEC, INEC, APC and the Nigeria Police.

Back in Yola, an APC youth group loyal to Nuhu Ribadu, the Black Cap Revolution, staged a public protest to the state House of Assembly, demanding a probe of the governor over the alleged certificate scandal.

The group leader, Mustapha Atiku Ribadu, urged the legislators to investigate the forgery allegations against the state’s chief executive to ascertain the truth and do justice to all parties involved.

“We are not saying the governor is guilty, we are simply demanding an investigation into the matter. We’re law abiding citizens who nurture transparency, integrity and good governance. There is an allegation against our governor that the certificate he presented which earned him the leadership is a syndicated forgery, which is synonymous with corruption,” Mustapha said.

“We want Governor Bindow to come out clean and clear. We want him to appear before the state lawmakers to defend the allegation.

“However, should the allegation hold water, Bindow should honourably resign in addition to withdrawing from the 2019 gubernatorial race and face legal case, lest our state be reduced to the republic of certificate forgery forever,” he said. Receiving a letter from the group, the Clerk of the Assembly, Francis Ngangso promised to deliver it to the House leadership for consideration.

However, the Speaker of the House, Kabiru Mijinyawa, dismissed the demand at a plenary, saying the House could not investigate a matter that was already before a court of law.

Meanwhile, an aggrieved APC governorship aspirant, Mahmud Halilu who is younger brother to the wife of the president, Aisha Buhari, has threatened to drag Jibrilla to court for using a fake WAEC certificate.

Besides the court threats, the controversy became more interesting when INEC released names and credentials of 28 governorship aspirants in the state as voters and critics discovered that Jibrilla who emerged the APC candidate attached a school testimonial to his nomination form rather than a WAEC certificate.

The inclusion of “a mere testimonial” seems to have confused some of his supporters and emboldened his critics while curious voters were seen snapping the document with their handsets and flipping through other papers attached to the form.

Efforts to see what Jibrilla presented to INEC ahead of 2015 were not successful. Before he became governor, Jibrilla had served as senator and it is only what happens in the coming days in the court that will unravel the mystery behind his credentials.

Ashiru’s certificate case and Kaduna PDP

There have been reports since Alhaji Isa Ashiru emerged the governorship flag bearer of the PDP in Kaduna State, that there are issues with his credentials.

It has remained one of the issues his media team had to battle with it for weeks but just as the matter was about to die down, a major stakeholder in the party, Dr. Muhammad Sani-Bello, brought it up.

Dr. Bello, one of the PDP governorship aspirants who later withdrew from the race to support Ashiru, made the observation about discrepancies in the educational qualification of Ashiru formal by publicly making it an issue in the factors that made him resign from the PDP.

While announcing his decision to quit the PDP, Dr. Bello said he was not comfortable working with Ashiru as his academic credentials were allegedly under question.

He said, “Based on my findings, the documentation of the candidate contains certain flaws which remain unexplained,” but made no effort to explain further.

Checks by our correspondent at the INEC office in Kaduna showed that Ashiru attached photocopies of all the educational qualifications to his form to substantiate his claim of attending various schools from primary to university.

Ashiru in the form said he attended LEA Primary School Kudan, Kufena College in Zaria, Katsina Polytechnic, Kaduna Polytechnic and Bayero University, Kano from where he obtained the LEA Primary Certificate, the General Certificate of Education, June 1980, National Diploma Business Administration, 1985; Higher National Diploma Business Administration 1989; Post Graduate Diploma, Marketing, 1999 and Masters in Public Administration, 2002.

The PDP candidate who said he was born on October 23, 1962, said he completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme in Borno State in 1990.

Ashiru explained that there are no discrepancies in his credentials and that his certificates which he presented to INEC for the forthcoming election are all genuine and complete.

He described the allegation as a manifestation of the desperation of the APC to create doubt and confusion in the minds of the people of Kaduna State about him.

The PDP candidate had contested and won elections four times in the past as he was a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly from 1999 to 2007 and member of the Federal House of Representatives from 2007 to 2015.

Since Dr. Sani has left the PDP, our correspondent learnt that no formal complaint has been sent to the party to interrogate the issue further.

There are indications however that one of the aspirants who contested the primary with Ashiru is trying to take up the matter with the party so that the ticket of the party would be handed to him.

PDP leaders in the state say the matter is not an issue as they are sure that Ashiru’s papers are genuine but the APC, our correspondent learnt, is highly interested in the matter and is trying to establish the discrepancy as a counter-strategy in the scheme towards dislodging the PDP at the polls.

Atunwa’s problem in Kwara

There are allegations that the governorship candidate of the PDP in Kwara State, Razak Atunwa, did not participate in the NYSC programme.

Atunwa was alleged to have sourced a forged NYSC discharge certificate which he submitted to the PDP to prove his eligibility for the office of governor.

In his previous contest, it was gathered that nobody knew what he presented since the issue of certificate was not as serious as it is today, but Atunwa is said to be a graduate of Law.

For this election, it was learnt that Atunwa submitted a secondary school certificate.

The development has generated a lot of disquiet in the state and among members of the party, with insinuations that if fully established, he might likely be replaced by Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, the erstwhile national publicity secretary of the APC who recently followed Senate President Bukola Saraki to the PDP.

Sources within the party say things have really “fallen apart” and the “centre can no longer hold.”

It was rumoured that one of the PDP aspirants during the primary election who is close to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, blew the whistle about the fake NYSC certificate.

Findings revealed that Atunwa remains the preferred choice of Bukola Saraki even though other forces within the party want someone else.

It was gathered that the aspirant who blew the whistle believes that if Atunwa is eventually dropped as the PDP candidate, he might get the ticket but surprisingly, Atunwa’s name appeared in the INEC list as the PDP candidate for the next year’s election.

Meanwhile, Atunwa while reacting, said, “I did not submit any unsupported NYSC certificate as suggested by you.

“I strongly advise that you verify each and every assertion you wish to make. You may wish to make formal enquiries/verifications of all institutions concerned.

“You should also be circumspect enough to authenticate the provenance of any document you may be handed if it’s not from a formal and official source.”

Atunwa may survive the heavy wind because of the support he enjoys from Saraki who is the political leader in the state and considering that he only submitted his secondary school certificate.

But, in the event he must be replaced, many feel the ticket might be given to somebody from Kwara North, including Zakari Muhammed, Aliyu Ahman – Pategi and Shaaba Lafiagi, while others feel Malam Bolaji Abdullahi might still be the lucky man.

Adebayo Shittu screened out

The Minster of Communications, Mr Adebayo Shittu could not also actualize his dream of becoming governor in Kwara State after he was screened out by the APC over his failure to participate in the NYSC.

Shittu, a SAN who has already gone to court to seek interpretation, said he believed serving as a member of the House of Assembly soon after graduating from the Law School was enough replacement for the NYSC programme.

What the Constitution says

Section 131 of the 1999 Constitution sets out that a person can vie for the office of president of Nigeria if he has certain qualifications and with the exception of age, the qualifications are similar to other offices such as governor, member of the national or state assembly.

The requirements include being a citizen of Nigeria and attaining the required age, being a member of a political party and sponsored by that political party, and must have been educated up to at least school certificate level or its equivalent.

Section 318 (1) of the Constitution defines what school certificate or its equivalent to mean a secondary school certificate or its equivalent, Grade II Teacher’s Certificate, City and Guilds Certificate; or Primary Six School Leaving Certificate or its equivalent and service in the public or private sector in the federation in any capacity acceptable to INEC for a minimum of 10 years, and attendance at courses and training in such institutions as may be acceptable to INEC for periods totaling up to a minimum of one year, and the ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English language to the satisfaction of INEC and any other qualification acceptable to INEC.

A lawyer speaks

An Abuja-based lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Professor Agbo Madaki, says there are reasons why many politicians are desperate to forge their way into public office, despite the fact that the basic requirements are not difficult to come by. “Mind you, the law did not say you must have a degree or HND. But the truth is that ours is a culture of flaunting what we don’t have. Unfortunately, that has become part of our culture such that you find people who don’t possess some of these higher certificates and the tendency is for them to forge so that people now regard them as having what ordinarily they don’t have. I think low self-esteem is part of the problem here,” he said.

“And that is also possible because people have been forging successfully in this country. That is not to say that the law is weak because forgery is a criminal offence in Nigeria and punishable by both the Criminal Code and the Penal Code.

“However, the problem here is that of selective application of justice. Simply because most of the people involved are the elite or people of high means, in other words, the rich and famous, they often escape without prosecution,” he said.

“Law enforcement in Nigeria is weak and porous. Why the offenders escape is because the law enforcement mechanism in Nigeria is weak. I believe the Nigeria Police, by virtue of their training, have the capacity not only to investigate but also to prosecute, especially going by the Supreme Court decision recently. They should ensure that the offenders are apprehended and prosecuted,” he said.

Jibrin Of Sudan And The Audacity Of Fake News
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 11-17-2018, 11:34 AM - No Replies

By Dr Ugoji Egbujo

Tales were only once told only by moonlight. The sun gave way to the moon and people gathered to wind down. They shared tales , fables , lullabies and all.

Those tales were useful because they were not to be believed. Children were told scary fairy tales so they wouldn’t wander from home. No one actually wanted to deceive another. Now men gather children and fellow adults and with constipated faces tell them political fairy tales in broad daylight. Politicians and the clergy now concoct tales and tell them without songs. And force lumps of rough tales down throats as they would force medicine down the throat of sick children.

The scary thing is no one really knows if these modern day tale bearers know their stories are imaginary. And if those who hear them know where to keep them. Now adults are told political fairy tales. They nod like frightened children. And hold on to them like scriptures. About a year ago many said Buhari had died in London. Fayose was certain he was in the mortuary. He said he had the pictures.

Many of those who celebrated Buhari’s death went dumb when he returned. Fayose gave up the ownership of secret intelligence channels around the president that once made him the favorite of gossip magazines. He never talked about the mortuary pictures we once knew he had under his pillow.

But Nnamdi Kanu, the owner of the late dog named Jack didn’t take Buhari’s recovery and return calmly. He looked closely at the recuperated man and shook his head. He declared that the returnee was an impostor of the Buhari that died in London. He said his men of the Biafra Secret Service had reliable intelligence that a certain Jibrin from Sudan had been co opted to fill in for the dead Buhari.

Ordinarily, with a little song, that would have made a good African fairy tale. But without a song, and without the somnolence of moonlight, Nnamdi Kanu’s tale raised eyebrows. Many amongst his apostles who had longed to kiss the feet of the Director of Radio Biafra couldn’t help but doubt their god. But their unbelief sparked anger in the supreme freedom fighter. He labeled those who couldn’t see Jibrin de Sudan in Buhari as morons.

They knew if they persisted in their unbelief they would become rebels, saboteurs. So they started to believe. Some could only go half the way. So they deemed their supreme leader’s Jibrin theory a useful exaggeration. So Jibrin became, in their hearts, an apt metaphor of a disappointing president. So they too, these intellectuals, could say the healthy Buhari is Jibrin. Cynics hissed. They had always doubted the firmness of Nnamdi Kanu’s grasp of reality.

After he expounded Jibrin, they included hallucinations in the long list that must be overcome during any royal rehabilitation for the supreme leader. After Jibrin instructed a python dance and the Biafra secret service smuggled Nnamdi Kanu into a hole outside the country we all thought the Idea of Jibrin had been buried. But Jibrin of Sudan has lived on.

A certain pastor mounted the pulpit a few days ago and spoke about Jibrin. He said it took him a while but he has seen that the Buhari in Aso Rock isn’t the Buhari that went to London for medical treatment. The pastor spoke with priestly earnestness. He must have acquired the special spirit of discernment as the IPOB leader.

The problem with fake news is that it is potentially a weapon of mass destruction. It is true that corruption can kill Nigeria. But perhaps corruption is a slow virus. The plague that took apart Rwanda in a few months in 1994 was not corruption. It was hatred spawned by fake news.

It was the fake news about the existence of weapon off mass destruction that brought Iraq to precipitate ruins. If a picture of Buhari surfaces and his nose appears a little flatter than the beak of a woodpecker murmurs about Jibrin will fill the air. Corruption is ruthless. But it is fake news that has the stubbornness and ruthlessness of a Californian wild fire. The elections are here. Tempers are volatile. Idle poorly educated young men are the combustible dry wood . They abound. Ethnicity and religion are the high velocity winds. They are here. Fake news is the fire. Its factories are sprouting everywhere. Firefighters could be useless.

Nigeria is therefore particularly vulnerable. It has many pyromaniacs in positions of influence. Jibrin, fortunately, is not the sort of news that can set the country instantaneously ablaze. But the sheer stupidity of the story and its baffling tenacity must trouble the lovers of peace. If the most outlandish of political fairy tales can survive for so long and manage to intrigue minds that claim sophistication then the country is exceptionally vulnerable . Fayose may have dropped off the bus. But he and his colleagues set it on that ruinous path. If he hadn’t declared that he had mortuary pictures perhaps the demons wouldn’t have found tilled grounds on which to sow their ‘Jibrinous’ hallucinations . What Jibrin does by its sheer ridiculousness is to prepare the ground for a future mass hypnosis.

Fake news , like weeds , must abound. But if allowed to flourish only in beer parlors and motor parks then the society may not be harmed. Real damage is risked when fake news takes residence in government houses and houses of God. And when it occupies radio and television stations. Ordinary people took part in the holocaust and roasted ordinary people. Deliberate insistent misinformation was all that was needed.

How APC Governor Insulted Oshiomhole Before Buhari - Vanguard Reveals
User Avatar Forum: News

Quote:ON NOVEMBER 17, 2018

Despite last Saturday’s statement by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole that his encounter with the Department of State Security Services, DSS, was not an arrest as being speculated, Saturday Vanguard learned that the forces against him were unfazed in the resolve to achieve preconceived objectives.

Already, exclusive reports by some influential online platforms had indicated that the DSS in its report to the Presidency, recommended the prosecution of Oshiomhole over its alleged findings.

Saturday Vanguard could not confirm the veracity of the existence of the report from the DSS and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, but top party sources said there was nothing like that.

They, however, said the protest against the Chairman at the office of Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC, and the said DSS report were part of the efforts of those opposed to Oshiomhole at achieving their aim.

One of the sources said the ultimate objective was to co-opt President Muhamadu Buhari in the anti-Oshiomhole camp.

He said it would be difficult to get the President’s support for the move, adding that those against Oshiomhole had since lost the President’s support for failing to accept the solutions he (Buhari) proffered as the leader of the APC.

In fact, he told Saturday Vanguard that there was a day the President asked one of the aggrieved governors, who was visiting him at the time, to speak to Oshiomhole on the phone in his presence so they could resolve the matter.

He added that instead of having the peace talk President Buhari suggested, the governor started insulting Oshiomhole on the phone, using unprintable words.

This scene which happened in the presence of the President, was said to have lasted more than 30 minutes.

The scenario was said to have convinced the President that the aggrieved governor and others were being driven by self-interest.

The source, who was even privy to the conversation Oshiomhole had with the DSS, said top party members and political office holders, have resolved to defend the chairman.

He noted that this support played out when Oshiomhole honoured the DSS invitation, adding that the party chieftains and public office holders immediately mobilised in solidarity, threatening to defend the national chairman at all costs.

Sources privy to the event told Saturday Vanguard that the party members, who were taken unaware immediately mobilised to Oshiomhole’s Abuja residence when they got wind of the matter.

Prominent among those, who immediately responded to the situation was a top presidency official in charge of the administrative workings of the government, a serving governor, and minister among others.

The scandalized officials were said to have threatened that should the interrogation continue, they would not mind if their defence of Oshiomhole’s integrity led to the implosion of APC.

However, Saturday Vanguard further learned that contrary to insinuations that President Buhari had prior knowledge of the operation, the President and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo were called when it had ended.

The duo were said to have been rattled that such treatment was meted to the party’s National Chairman.

The incident, one of the sources said, was hatched by some top political office holders, who seem to have influence over some officials of the institution that was used.

The aim was to intimidate Oshiomhole into signing a resignation letter which would be presented to the public.

To achieve this, he was presented with a series of allegations of financial impropriety allegedly made against him.

Money from Lagos State governor

The allegations included the collection of money from Lagos State governor, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode; senators; Kano State aspirants; Zamfara State aspirants and Imo State APC members among others.

These accusations, which the source described as cheap, were brought before Oshiomhole, who was said to have punctured them with superior and logical responses.

Saturday Vanguard learned that Oshiomhole, who saw the claims as laughable and pedestrian, told them that it was illogical to suggest that he collected money from Ambode when the outcome of the primaries in Lagos was not even being challenged by the governor.

On the allegation of collecting money from senatorial aspirants, it was learned that the APC chairman considered it a cheap one since he did not succumb to the pressure of being financially induced by those seeking higher offices.

APC primaries in Kano

In fact, the source said the allegation implied that those behind the matter could go to any length in their bid to oust the National Chairman.

The source, who said Oshiomhole’s response to the questions exposed the intelligence level of those, who made the allegations, said questioning him over APC primaries in Kano was needless.

His reason was that Oshiomhole gave the party a new lease of life in Kano with the return of a former governor of the state, Ibrahim Shekarau to APC after Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso’s defection.

Explaining further, the source said: “What happened was the handiwork of a few people, who used the influence they think they have to intimidate the chairman. They wanted him to resign his position as the National Chairman to pave the way for their selfish interest. They invited Comrade and he honoured the invitation as a law-abiding citizen. He was taken aback when they started asking him questions about issues that didn’t exist.

“Even the President was not aware of it as some people claimed.

"The President and the Vice President were informed about the incident on phone and they were very angry because it is obvious that some people who are not comfortable with comrade’s resolve to ensure that candidates were not imposed on the party are ready to make the party implode.

"They asked him questions regarding Kano State, Imo State, and Zamfara State among others. The funny aspect is that they said he collected money from Lagos State governor, Akinwumi Ambode.

"That was just a petty lie because the outcome of the Lagos primary was not a subject of controversy and Ambode did not even kick against the emergence of the winner.

"In addition to that, they said he collected money from senators. That is absolute nonsense because Comrade is a former governor, who has attained the peak in public office.

"How could he have collected money from a senator, who collects about N13 million monthly? The allegations against him lacked substance.

Governors, ministers

“The morning after the incident some governors, ministers and other top functionaries visited his house and were threatening to defend comrade, adding that they didn’t care if the party experienced an implosion. That scene is better imagined.

"Of course, their reaction was expected because the incident was on the heels of threats by an aggrieved governor that comrade would be forced out of office.

"The call by the opposition that the Interpol should arrest comrade was unnecessary because he committed no crime to have warranted such.

"It even showed that the main opposition party in this country does not engage in constructive criticisms.

"If the incident had happened to the National Chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus they would have described it as an abuse of power.

"Since Comrade is the victim, it does not amount to an abuse of power anymore. That is the kind of destructive politics people play in Nigeria. It should be on record that nobody would be allowed to bend the rules of the APC.

"Even Comrade and President Buhari do not have that power to subvert the will of the people. Oshiomhole’s position on the matter is simple. He stands for the rule of law not imposition of candidates.

"That is the reason he refused to succumb to all attempts at making him allow illegality in states where arrangements have been concluded to impose candidates on the people.”

Igbos Didn’t Endorse Atiku, We Are Still Behind Buhari – Uche Nwosu
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 11-17-2018, 11:31 AM - No Replies

Former Chief of Staff to the Imo State governor, Uche Nwosu, has dismissed the reported endorsement of the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate, Peter Obi, by Igbo leaders at an Enugu summit recently.

He described the endorsement as “a designed plan to deceive the people that the Igbos rest their support with the PDP”.

Nwosu, who maintained that the support for President Buhari by the Igbos was still intact, noted that the endorsement by the few Igbo leaders at the Enugu Summit did not reflect the position of Ndigbo and will not affect the chances of President Muhammadu Buhari in the South East.

According to him, the South East has nothing tangible to show for its support for the PDP during its 16 years in power to warrant the endorsement of its Presidential candidate or any other.

Nwosu, in statement on Friday, reassured that despite the post primary crisis rocking the party (APC) in the zone, President Buhari would still get a landslide victory.

According to Nwosu, “We are not losing sleep over the recent endorsement of Atiku by some Igbo leaders, the action will not change the reality on ground.

“The South East will deliver Buhari in 2019 because it is our best option. We cannot be distracted with the PDP’s Greek gift of Vice President, our focus as a people should be Igbo Presidency in 2023.

“One important question we should be asking ourselves as Ndigbo is what did we benefit from the PDP for the 16 years it was in power to warrant the endorsement of its candidate, as against what we have recorded within the three years that President Buhari is in power”.

He continued that, “Most of the political decisions of some of our leaders are self serving and not in the overall interest of the Igbo but this time we are committed to pursuing the best political option for the Igbo, which is supporting President Buhari’s second term”.

Nwosu also added that, “The fact that majority of our party members are not happy with the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomole over the manner he handled the party primaries across the zone does not affect our support for President Buhari.

“In fact it is beyond personal considerations, it is about the interest of Ndigbo and we will deliver President Buhari in 2019. The support for President Buhari is borne out his unequalled integrity and uprightness, which is what the country needs most now,” he concluded.

Florence Ita-Giwa, Soni Abang, Tony Odey, Others Join PDP In Cross River

POLITICS Defection tsunami hits Cross River APC, as Ita Giwa, BoT member, ex-envoy, others join PDP

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Thursday, at the Municipal Council grounds in Calabar, suffered a serious political tsunami as a former senator and two-time Special Adviser to two Nigeria presidents, Princess Florence Ita- Giwa, returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Others who also washed their hands off the APC in the state with about 5000 supporters were the former Ambassador to Mali, Amb. Soni Abang, former APC Board of Trustee member, Barr Tony Odey, as well as the duo of 1992 legislators, Senator Patrick Ani and Hon. Ernest Irek among others.

Ita Giwa, speaking at the event said: “I am back to ensure that the turn by turn policy is followed, as only zoning can sustain democracy without fight while creating opportunities for all to raise their heads.”
Waxing philosophical, Ita-Giwa disclosed: “In over one year I went on that trip to APC, it wasn’t good for my body because a white goat loves no stain or dirt,” adding that “I feel guilty leaving this family as upon my return, so much love was shown to me and I was not shut out or looked down upon.”

She added that the governor, Prof Ben Ayade, has performed so much magic which all must collectively return him back to sustain his vision aimed at repositioning Cross River and making it the envy of others.

“I cannot fight Ayade because he made the hitherto abandoned Bakassi Local Government Area to be celebrated among the existing local government areas in the state and indeed Nigeria. I am back to sustain democracy, to join hands with Ayade to win elections, for the sustenance of carnival which is dear to me and for the governor’s industrialization drive,” Ita- Giwa intimated.

On his part, Ambassador Soni Abang expressed happiness that he finally took the decision to return to the PDP.

“My supporters and I are happy to be back home. I had within the past few years withdrawn from active politics because when you marry a wife with a problem, staying in the same house becomes a problem, not to talk of going into the other room.”

According to him, “PDP is a great family and there is no way Uche Secondus will be a national chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku contesting as President and Prof Ben Ayade coming as governor or Senator Imoke urging me to come back to the fold and I will say no,” the former envoy noted.

On his experiences during his stint with the APC, Abang disclosed that “while there, we couldn’t agree even on the party exco, we couldn’t conduct our primaries, the party does not respect court orders and today the same party is trying to cripple our judiciary,” adding that, “the national chairman of PDP today has redefined and remodeled the party as evidenced in the last national convention adjudged as the most transparent in the country.”

Another returnee, Hon Ernest Irek, said “it is only the PDP that has a reward system and anything that has no reward system is not a better option.”
Lauding the programs and policies of Governor Ben Ayade which has endeared him and his team to return to the political family, Irek who was a 1992 House of Representatives member representing old Obubra Federal constituency said: “Your programs are programs of tomorrow, nobody will allow any senatorial district to cheat the other, we are back to our home and the time for business is now and we are going to deliver.”

Former governor, Senator Liyel Imoke said he feels like a “contented old man to see the family gathered today as one. It takes the collectives to get results, as such, these key leaders who have returned to the fold are very fundamental in our struggle for 2019.”

Imoke who applauded Ayade for accommodating the returnees, pointed out that for this to happen, it is a great effort aimed at uniting the political family.
Receiving the returnees in the presence of the governor, Prof Ben Ayade, his deputy, Prof Ivara Esu, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, some members of the national leadership of the party, the PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, assured them that, “the party is for all, for the entire people, you are all co-owners in this party and everyone is a leader.”
He applauded Ayade for his industrialization drive in the state, maintaining that the vision to decouple Cross River from its dependence on federal allocation while creating jobs for the teeming unemployed youths must have endeared the returnees to come back.
While extending hand shakes with the political bigwigs who returned to the PDP, Secondus said: “On behalf of the national leadership of our party, we welcome you back to your home and I can assure you that all your rights and privileges are this day restored unto you.

DPR Seals NNPC, Mobil, Total Filling Stations For Cheating
User Avatar Forum: Oil/Gas
Posted by: Edoman - 11-17-2018, 11:28 AM - No Replies

Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has sealed some pumps belonging to Major Marketers’ filling stations including Mobil, Total, and NNPC Mega Station in Jos metropolis, warning their managers against such sharp practices as cheating that could betray the trust reposed on them.

Addressing journalists after going round to monitor the sales of the product in filling stations across the Jos metropolis, Operations Controller of DPR Jos office, Mr. Jerome Agada said, “As we approach the yuletide, we want to sustain the normalcy at filling stations particularly in Plateau State where we have passed through some flash of crisis in the past.

He said: “The Department is out visiting retail outlets; and today we have gone round a number of stations to ensure that their operational efficiency in terms of pump deliveries, functionality of their facilities comply with standard regulations, and out of the stations visited, six of them have committed offences that attracted sanctions.”

The stations include; Mobil Filling Station, opposite Plateau State Polytechnic, Jos Campus, AI’ Olabah Oil Co Nig. Ltd, Anglo-Jos, Tonimas Filling Station, Anglo-Jos, Total Filling Station, Dadin-Kowa, Jos, and NNPC Mega Filling Station, Secretariat Junction.

Their offences, according to Agada, include under-dispensing of the product to unsuspecting customers and malfunctioning pump nozzles used in dispensing, adding that they would be expected to pay the appropriate fines after which their sealed pumps would be unsealed.

Stressing that the DPR would sustain the tempo of the surveillance through the Christmas period into the New Year, Agada particularly cautioned the Major Marketers in the state to be wary of sharp practices to avoid the Department’s wrath.

Advising the affected stations to quickly attend to the issues that led to the sealing of their pumps, the Controller assured that there was no need for apprehension and panic buying since there are about 16 trucks of fuel coming into the state on daily basis, coupled with the fact that the depot in Jos was one of the strategic depots meant to store large volume of fuel to cushion effect of any shortage that may arise for any reason in the country.

He added that, “These strategic depots that store PMS can supply fuel to make up for any gap as we approach Christmas season.” He also said that at the end of October, the Jos depot had as much as 30 million liter of PMS in stock.

Let Anybody Lead This Country, Not PDP – Buhari
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 11-17-2018, 11:26 AM - No Replies

President Muhammadu Buhari has again faulted the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for allegedly mismanaging the nation’s resources.

He stated this at a meeting with a select group of South East leaders on Friday at the State House in Abuja.

The President believes that although the forthcoming elections should not be a do or die affair, he will never support the opposition party to rule the country.

“Let anybody lead this country but not the PDP,” he was quoted as saying in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu.

President Buhari added, “They (PDP) were so reckless with the resources of the country. The state of infrastructure we inherited was terrible – no roads, the railway was killed and power.

“They lacked conscience because anybody with a conscience will not do what they did. We will report them to Nigerians.”

The President noted that the reported split within the Ohanaeze Igbo socio-cultural group over the purported endorsement of the PDP candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, did not come to him as a surprise.

He said the moment the said resolution was announced, he got calls from some leaders from the region asking him to disregard it as it was without any substance.

“From that moment, I knew that the resolution would not stand, and alas, there it was,” said President Buhari who added, “We have done so much. Given the chance, we will do more. Given every chance, we will tell Nigerians where we were in 2015 and what we have achieved up to now.”

He stressed further, “We will not get tired of speaking about the golden opportunity Nigeria lost during 16 years of the PDP. We earned money, which we didn’t use.

“If you ruin the economy, send your children abroad to get education; won’t they come back? I said it 30 years ago that this is the only country we have. We must stay here and salvage it together.”

The leaders of the delegation, Mr Emeka Ekwuosa and the Nation.

Morning Devotional For Saturday 17th November

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SATURDAY, 17TH NOVEMBER.

FOCUS ON WHAT HE’S ALREADY DONE.

For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect (Romans 4:14).

There’re those who think they ought to be enjoying God’s blessings because they’re “living right.” Yes, by virtue of our righteousness, we’re required to live right, but to think that God ought to do certain things for you because of your good works means you’re trusting in your works; and the Bible says, “Not by works of righteousness which we have done…” (Titus 3:5).

First, you must understand that as a Christian, God has already blessed you beyond measure; you’re blessed with ALL spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ (Ephesians 1:3). He didn’t bless you because of what you did; as a matter of fact, He blessed you ever before you knew Him. Your “good works,” as it were, won’t make Him bless you any more than He’s already done.

There’re some who think God will, or should hear them, because they prayed for several hours; but that’s not how it works. It’s vital to pray; prayer and other spiritual activities are highly commendable and recommended for every Christian, but don’t try to get God’s approval by doing them. What He watches out for and rewards is your faith, not works. Nonetheless, your works, if done in faith, will be pleasing to Him.

There’s really nothing you could ever want that isn’t already yours in Christ; everything He owns belongs to you. Thus, the anchor for your faith should be what Christ came to do. That’s what should form the basis for your believing and confession, and your trust in Him. The reason for your divine health, divine prosperity, and life of superabundance is that Christ already made them yours. Your focus should be on what He’s already done.

When you confess health, prosperity, victory, and all the blessings of the Gospel that are yours in Christ, it ought to be with this consciousness; the consciousness of who you are and all that’s been made available to you in Christ.

PRAYER

Righteous Father, you’ve established me in the path of divine blessings; I’m a partaker of the glorious heritage of the saints in the Kingdom of light. I celebrate the beautiful life of dominion, power, and victory that I have in Christ. I affirm that my life is the manifestation of your glory, excellence, and righteousness, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

2 Peter 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that [pertain] unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

1 Corinthians 3:21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

17TH NOVEMBER.

I affirm that I am an embodiment of God’s blessings! I was born into wealth and I am a success forever! I celebrate my riches with great joy because I am a vessel separated unto God to showcase the beauty of His splendour. As the Father is, so am I in this world. The life and nature of God are at work on the inside of me; for I am an offspring of the Word. When I call things forth, they come into being. My words are not ordinary; they are filled with divine energy, producing that which I send them to accomplish. Hallelujah.

The wisdom of God is available to guide and lead me in the right paths to fulfil the dreams and visions that the Father has given unto me. I have wisdom for ministry, for my job, my business, my relationship, finances, health, and family! Hallelujah! I am on top, in charge and in control of circumstances, because Christ lives and reigns gloriously in the earth through me. The blessing of the Lord is on me; from the crown of my head to the soles of my feet. I am inundated with divine blessings.

This blessing causes me to prosper in all that I do. I am like a tree planted by the rivers of water. I do not know when heat comes because I am mightily blessed of the Lord. Everywhere I turn, and in everything I do, the lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places. Yes! I have a goodly heritage. Goodness and mercy are my constant companions. Glory to God!

I Go Dye Writes Letter To President Buhari (Read Open Letter)

Popular comedian IGoDye took to his Instagram page to write an open letter to the president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari.

According to him, he is acting in his capacity as the ambassador of a movement called Make a Difference Against Corruption Today (MADACT). The MADACT ambassador took to posing some questions to the number one citizen of the country. These questions revolved around embezzlement, poor medical amenities, unemployment, hunger and so on.

In what was a constructive criticism, IGoDye hoped to prod the seat of the government in a societal redress that will be of benefit to the people of Nigeria.

See his full post below:

THERE IS HUNGER IN NIGERIA DON’T LET ANYONE DECEIVE YOU

Your Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari

As madact Ambassador on make A Difference Against Corruption Today, it has expanded my passion to speak. It saddens my heart that after 58 years all sectors of our social and economic lives has been plunged in failure. Over the years, millions of graduates continue to wade through trying times, while youths with creative artistry, artisans and our young women have been denied the true values of nationhood, self esteem has been destroyed, many weep and sleep on a daily basis without a meal

Sir,

The funds recovered from looters in the past fews years of your government is 739 billion Naira, Abacha recovered returned loot is 322,000,000 dollars equivalent of 112billion naira Totalling 851 billion naira. why was the Abacha returned loots shared? Who are the beneficiaries? Why wasn’t the returned and recovered loots used to finance some of the basic social problems like electricity, repairing our refineries and creating jobs for our youths, build a world class hospital that can reduce the travelling expenses of Nigerians travelling abroad for medical treatment?
Sir, if our hospitals were well equipped, you won’t be involved in foreign trips for medical check ups. When you eventual leave office, which hospital would be standard enough to offer you this services and to other Nigerians? Who are the looters that returned the said amount ? How come they are not facing criminal charges or being jailed? How come politicians alleged with 232 billion naira cases of corruption are working for your re-election?

Is it Only those that are with you, that are the presumed saints? Your Excellency, our budgets for the last 3 years of your government 2016 (6.07 trillion),2017 (7.298trillion, )2018 ( 9.12 trillion)

Total 22.488 trillion naira, yet we do not have access to ordinary clean water, with escalated hunger in the land. In 2015, Nigerian was ranked 3rd among the poorest nations index but today in 2018, Nigeria is now ranked number number 1 people living in poverty in world overtaking India. That is why Nigerians are complaining.

Many Nigerians have taken to commenting on IGoDye’s post. Some thanked him for the bold step he took, others urged him to do better and further make the voice of the people be heard.

Timi Frank Reveals 'How Oshiomhole Collected $50m From APC Aspirants'
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 11-16-2018, 10:09 PM - No Replies

2019: Timi Frank reveals how Oshiomhole allegedly collected over $50m from aspirants, vows to publish names.

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Timi Frank, has alleged that the National Chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, collected over $50 million from different aspirants and candidates during the primary elections of the party.

According to Frank, who is now a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, a large percentage of the money was paid to the former Edo State Government through proxies from Imo, Zamfara, Adamawa and Ogun states among others.

Report emerged recently that the Department of State Services, DSS, invited and interrogated Oshiomhole, and reportedly did ask him to resign over allegations of bribery and corruption against him.

Oshiomhole, however, told reporters that his meeting with the DSS was a mere routine conversation that held in the interest of national security.

But in a statement he personally signed and issued to DAILY POST in Abuja on Thursday, the former APC spokesman threatened to publish the names and amounts paid to lobby the National Chairman to clear aspirants and substitute names of duly elected candidates with those that failed.

According to Frank, the Department of State Services (DSS) has presented its report and findings against Oshiomhole to President Muhammadu Buhari but the President is still in dilemma on what to do.

“I dare say that this singular act of refusing to order the prosecution of Oshiomhole over sundry acts of bribery and corruption he committed as contained in the DSS report, President Buhari has shown that his APC-led administration is a stinking house of corruption.”

While expressing surprise at Oshiomhole’s latest ordeal, he said the former Labour leader will go down in history as a party chairman who had allegedly received such humongous bribe within a short period of time in office.

Frank, however, called on the President to act on the recommendations of the DSS by ordering Oshiomhole’s sack and prosecution, if his (Buhari) government is actually fighting corruption or opposition.

“We are in the know that President Muhammadu Buhari has received the DSS report on Adams Oshiomhole and Nigerians are patiently waiting for the action or inaction of his government because this is an administration that has claimed fighting corruption as an achievement.

“In the history of party administration in Nigeria, no party chairman has been accused of collecting the jaw-breaking amount of money allegedly collected within a short period in office like Comrade Oshiomhole has allegedly done.

“Instead of Oshiomhole to clear his name, he has taken to diversionary path asking the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki to resign. Nigerians are not gullible. We shall wait to see how the acclaimed anti-corruption regime will act on this particular issue.

“This same Oshiomhole has been attacking the Senate President, calling on him to resign on moral ground. Can Oshiomhole now step aside while the investigation into his financial malfeasance is ongoing to justify his much talked about morality?”

I’ll Sell 90% Of NNPC If Elected, Atiku Vows
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 11-16-2018, 10:00 PM - No Replies

Quote:The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, says he will sell the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and retain just 10 per cent of the company for the Federal Government.

Atiku said this in an interview with The African Report, a monthly publication.

Atiku, who presided over the National Council on Privatisation during his tenure as vice-president, said the NNPC was supposed to have become more profitable by now.

On whether he would sell NNPC and keep 10 per cent shares for the government, he said, “Yes, I would want to go ahead. There is no doubt about that. The government should have a very minor shareholding. Nigeria is in dire need of funds to develop its infrastructure and other sectors of the economy.”

The PDP presidential candidate said Nigeria ought to have been producing far more than two million barrels of oil per day.

Speaking further on the privatisation of the nation’s oil company, he said, “Without a stable regulatory framework, the oil and gas companies will find it difficult to invest more in Nigeria.

“At the time, we pushed for the passage of the new law. We expected that Nigeria would be able to export up to four million barrels per day, but here we are, still at less than two million barrels per day.”

According to various outlets, Porter had been suffering from pneumonia is recent weeks, but her exact cause of death is unknown at this time.[/url]

Per TMZ, the police received a call to Porter's Toluca Lake resident around noon today. The patient was described as being in cardiac arrest at the time of this call.
Also per TMZ, Porter had contacted her doctor on Wednesday because she was feeling ill, but we again wish to stress:
We do not know the cause of her death at this time.
Porter worked off and on as an actress and a model.

She and Diddy started dating in 1994 and went through many ups and downs over the course of approximately 13 years, splitting for good in 2007.
The former couple remained in each other's lives, however, because they share three children together:
Twin daughters who were born in 2006, Jessie James and D'Lila; along with a son named Christian, who was born in 1998.
Porter was also mother to a son named Quincy from a previous relationship.
Said rep Cindi Berger to TMZ shortly after the website learned Porter had passed away:[url=https://www.thehollywoodgossip.com/gallery/kim-porter-snapshot/]

"Sadly, I can confirm the passing of Kim Porter. I ask that you give the families privacy at this time."
Diddy has not yet responded to a request for comment, but we cannot imagine what he must be going through right now.
Porter had only just shared a photo of Diddy and their kids (below) on her Instagram page, simply writing "LOVE" as the caption.
It's clear the exes remained close long after their break-up.
in honor of the musician's birthday on November 4, she also posted a close-up of Diddy and wrote online:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY @diddy on this day a GENIUS was born ,may you continue to be the Driving Force of ENERGY that GOD created you to be !!

Thank you for giving me the best gifts of life our CHILDREN.

As word of Porter's passing makes it way around the Internet, meanwhile, many social media users continue to post notes of sorrow and shock.
"This is awful! Praying so hard for her children and her lover ones!! #RIPKimPorter sending so much love to her babies. My God!" wrote Gabrielle Union, for example.

And rapper Mase took to Instagram, posted a beautiful photo of Kim and captioned it as follows:
“Can’t Believe Someone So Special and Contributed So Much… IM SPEECHLESS you were one of the first to believe in me as artist and believer."
"YOU EVEN VISITED ME IN CHURCH."
And then there was this from singer Tevin Campbell:

"Totally shocked. Kim Porter has left us. Too young.... Heartfelt prayers/condolences to the family especially the kids. Sad."
An autopsy to determine the cause of death will soon be conducted, Page Six reports.

May Kim Porter rest in peace.

Roy Clark Dies; Country Music Legend Was 85
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Gimbiya - 11-16-2018, 12:17 PM - No Replies

Roy Clark, a legend in the world of country music and the former host of Hee Haw, died this morning at his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He was 85 years old.
A representative for the Grammy, CMA and ACM Award-winner tells TMZ Clark passed away after having recently contracted pneumonia -- and that he ultimately passed due to complications from the illness.

Clark had been in the spotlight for decades.
He started performing all the way back at the age of 14 and was one of the first artists to land singles on both the pop and country charts.
Adept at the guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, harmonica and many other instruments, Clark was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2009.
He was born in Virginia and was introduced to the music industry by his father, who saw exceptional talent in his young son.
"I was subjected to different kinds of music before I ever played," Clark once said, adding of his father:
"Dad said, 'Never turn your ear off to music until your heart hears it because then you might hear something you like.'"
Sound advice, right?
Clark eventually went on tour with such stalwarts as Hank Williams and Grandpa Jones, dropping out of school when he could no longer keep up with the demands of both his burgeoning career and his studies.
"Music was my salvation, the thing I loved most and did best," Clark said. "Whatever was fun, I'd go do that."
After winning a banjo competition in 1950, Clark was invited to perform at the Grand Ole Opry.
However, it wasn't until 1960, when Clark performed with Wanda Jackson, that his career truly took off.
After opening for Jackson in Las Vegas, he launched his own headlining tour, remaining on the road for 345 consecutive nights... and earning him his very own show in Sin City.
In 1962, Clark released his debut album, "The Lightning Fingers of Roy Clark."
This album spawned his first hit, "The Tips of My Fingers," which included an orchestra and strings section.
In 1963, Clark appeared on both The Tonight Show and American Bandstand, showing off a sense of humor and personality that not many fans even knew existed.
"Humor is a blessing to me," said Clark. "My earliest recollections are of looking at something and seeing the lighter side. But it's always spontaneous. I couldn't write a comedy skit for someone else."
This point of view and this talent helped Clark become the host of Hee Haw, a country music variety show.
He helmed the program for 24 years and his guests included Johnny Cash, Garth Brooks and Loretta Lynn.
Clark is survived by Barbara, his wife of 61 years, and his five children.
Although an exact date and time has not yet been announced, a memorial is expected to be held in the coming days in Tulsa.

Rob Kardashian: I'm Broke and I Live With My Mom!

Rob Kardashian: I'm Broke and I Live With My Mom!
Rob Kardashian is going through some things right now, folks.
Yesterday, the world learned that Rob can't afford to pay child support to his baby mama, Blac Chyna.

Of course, it's entirely his fault that he's broke, and he's been given every possible advantage in life, so he still doesn't deserve a shred of sympathy.
Anyway, Rob and Chyna are mired in an increasingly ugly court battle due to his refusal to fork over the $20,000 a month they initially agreed on.
It's a bad situation for everyone involved, but at least it's yielding some interesting insights into Rob's increasingly sad existence.

According to his documents filed by his lawyers, Rob has “minimal cash flow and no savings.”
Of course, this is all relative, and as we learned yesterday, Rob is still pulling in $10,000 a month from royalties and endorsement deals.
But that's down from a reported $100,000 in the days before he started dating Chyna.
(Rob says the relationship hurt his earning potential. We say he probably did that himself by posting revenge porn of Chyna and generally being an asshat.)

You don't have to be a mathematician to see that Rob can't afford to shell out twice his monthly income in child support -- but it's worth noting that that appears to be his only expense.
"As of January 17, 2018, I am short nearly $300,000, which my accountant projects I will need to pay for my 2017 tax liabilities,” Rob said in court documents released this week.
“I no longer own a home. I now live in my mother’s home.”[url=https://www.thehollywoodgossip.com/gallery/bardashian/]

Woof. 300 grand in debt and living at home with his mom?
Needless to say, Rob's not exactly killing it these days -- but don't worry, he's got a plan!
And apparently, it involves having his mom buy half of his sock company.
Yes, in case you somehow forgot, Rob designs socks that no one wants to buy, probably because they're overpriced socks designed by Rob Kardashian.
But the unpopularity of the Arthur George line isn't keeping Rob from pushing forward with the venture in the hope that it will help him dig out of this financial hole.
Rob told the court that he hoped the sock line would “would grow and that my earnings would increase,” but instead -- shocker! -- he lost money on the investment.
Kris Jenner swooped in to keep the company alive, and she now “50 percent share in the company."
Cool. Now if Rob can just get Kris to pay 50 percent of his child support, he'll be all set.

Amaechi: Atiku Not a Match for Buhari
Friday, November 16, 2018  politics

Minister of Transportation and Director-General of the Muhammadu Buhari Presidential Campaign Organisation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, has said the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is no match for President Buhari in the forthcoming presidential election.

Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State, who was a guest on the ‘Morning Show’ of ARISE News, a broadcast arm of THISDAY, yesterday, boasted that judging from the anti-corruption reputation of the Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government, the PDP and its candidate will be a mismatch for his party in 2019.

He noted that evaluating the performances of the incumbent Nigerian leader in comparison with previous administrations under the opposition party, would further reduce the chances of the PDP, which he labelled as corrupt and unfit to take Nigeria to the Promised Land.

Asked if, as the D-G of the president’s re- election bid, he feels the ruling party feels uneasy that the PDP has a very strong team in Atiku/Obi, Amaechi said, “I am telling you clearly, we have nothing to fear about; I am not joking.”

He said for his party and the people of Nigeria, the next general election in February 2019 would be another opportunity to critically look at the issue of who has the known antecedent to genuinely tackle corruption and that by reputation, the PDP could not contend against the APC in terms of corruption perception.

“As soon as PDP elected its presidential candidate, the first thing that went to the social media was corruption. I am not saying whether he is corrupt or not, but the first battle you had in the social media was to battle the issue of corruption and those issues of corruption were the things said by ex-President Obasanjo,” he stated.

On the celebrated reconciliation between Obasanjo and Atiku, Amaechi said their vituperative attacks against each other will also be made public for Nigerians to decide, saying: “Their statements are in the public. We would get back all those statements to the table.”

According to him, “There are two issues that we will be focusing on, corruption; Nigerians will have to decide whether to go back to the stealing, where Nigerian government was borrowing money to pay salary. We are not borrowing money to pay salary now; where we were importing tomatoes, when we can plant tomatoes at home; when we were buying about 500,000 eggs per day from South Africa; and now that we are producing the eggs.

“The reason is that there are too many issues to debate about. For 16 years, Vice President Abubakar was in power for eight years, did they do anything on railways, the answer is no. I saw in my office, contracts awarded by the last government, to Nigerians who do not know anything about railways. To build a narrow gauge, how much was spent? That is why I said I would not pay and I won’t pay, when I leave the next person can pay them because these Nigerians did nothing and they are asking to be paid for having rehabilitated the narrow gauge.”

Buhari’s chief campaign manager said the PDP doesn’t offer any alternative, contending that he could not see any real opposition to his candidate.

Explaining why Nigerians have not witnessed much in terms of infrastructure, especially roads despite claims by the administration that it is spending huge amounts on the sector, Amaechi said weather and other natural factors have delayed work at most of the sites.

He said there are ongoing construction works in most parts of the country, adding that the APC-led administration has been able to implement capital budget almost at a 100 per cent rating as against a dismal situation during the past administration.

The minister listed several ongoing road projects and railway facilities, which he said the Buhari-led administration has invested hugely in the last three and half years.
On the forthcoming campaigns, Amaechi said it will be issues-based.

He denied that the party ever promised to make naira equivalent to dollar during the 2015 elections.
Amaechi said, “We will be telling Nigerians the same thing – don’t let thieves come to power again. The president never said he will make naira equal to dollar. We are not that cheap economists, we don’t practice voodoo economy.
“The president was clear during his campaign. ‘I will ensure that insecurity is tackled; I will ensure that we rebuild the economy and create employment; I will ensure that corruption is tackled because corruption is the basis in which we are finding ourselves into these entire problems.

“I give you this example, by the time we assumed office, we discover that PDP had taken $2 billion from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and we followed the money. It was in everybody’s private pockets. The railway line from Lagos to Kano is $2.6 billion. So, we would have had two times that project with the money.”

Responding to the allegations of bias against Buhari in his fight against corruption, and the fact that he and others in APC have been shielded from prosecution on corruption allegations, Amaechi said he was ready to submit himself to investigation any day, any time.

Amaechi said it was instructive that the first former governors to be sent to jail for corruption under this administration are APC members.

“The prominent persons that went to jail under this administration are APC members. Does it take anything away from the fact that the president does not defend anybody? he asked.

When asked to comment on the crisis bedeviling the APC and the quizzing of the National Chairman, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, by the Department of State Services (DSS), Amaechi said it showed that Buhari would not like to protect the chairman of his party from being grilled by the DSS.

On why President Buhari evaded presidential debate while seeking for election in 2015, Amaechi said his campaign organisation thought that at that time the debate wasn’t necessary and that it was better he talked to Nigerians directly during campaigns.
Amaechi said the campaign organisation would decide on whether to advise Buhari to participate in the debate for 2019 election when the time comes, adding that it will be based on its assessment of the situation.

Monkey kills baby after snatching him from his mum
Friday, November 16, 2018  NEW

A 12-day-old baby died after a monkey snatched him from his breastfeeding mother and left him bruised and bitten on the terrace of a neighbour’s house in Mohalla Kachhera area northern state of Uttar Pradesh, in India.

According to The Indian Express, the monkey was said to have ran into the house and grabbed the baby by his neck while efforts to rescue the infant failed as family members later found the baby lying blood-soaked on a neighbour’s terrace.

The baby was rushed to a hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead, the family members said.

Not ready to believe it, the family took him to another hospital, but to no avail.

Eco-activist Shravan Kumar said monkeys are turning aggressive as their natural habitats have been destroyed and green cover is steadily shrinking.

Residents said the monkeys loot, snatch and attack people, particularly women and children in Agra.

“People do not dare to go to their terraces. Those who do have sealed their homes with iron mesh cages. You cannot leave your door open or sit in the sun,” a resident of Vijay Nagar colony Seema Gupta said.

The father of the boy said the monkey grabbed the boy by the neck and ran off before his breastfeeding mother, Neha, could act.

According to Agra Police Assistant Superintendent Abhishek, neighbours rushed to help after hearing the mother’s screams.

Bride-to-Be Stunned After Future Mother-in-Law Caught Texting Lies
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Gimbiya - 11-16-2018, 11:28 AM - No Replies

A bride-to-be is begging the internet for advice.
After spending what she thought was a nice day buying her wedding dress, she learned that her future mother-in-law is spreading lies about her.
Her mother-in-law called the day a "s--t show" and, having been caught, won't even speak to to the bride. Yikes.
[Image: wedding-dress-generic-image-from-instagram-02.jpg]

Most of Reddit is a cesspool, but sometimes, people looking for advice share some amazing stories.

One that really caught on and made the rounds this week concerns a bride-to-be who discovered that her future mother-in-law is a two-faced liar.
In a Reddit post that has since been locked (thanks to a salty moderator who didn't like the story going viral).
But we know what the northern California Reddit user who goes by the handle "Bamboo2u" said about her monster-in-law
She reveals that a few relatives, including her mother and her soon-to-be mother-in-law, traveled up from southern California.
They accompanied her while she picked out her wedding dress.
"Overall we had a great day and I got the most amazing dress," she writes. "My mom cried and my fiance’s mom cried ... it was special"
[Image: wedding-dress-generic-image-from-instagram-01.png]
Before she reveals the backstabbing, she shares some specifics from that day's conversations.

"At lunch my mom told everyone she suggested I keep my maiden name for work only," she writes. "And take my fiance’s name for personal life."
She shares that this is a specific necessity for her line of owrk.
"I have a problem with clients asking to be friends on Facebook and Instagram," she says. "Which I cannot do because it's against my work’s rules."
She explains: "I want to keep my personal life private from my work life."
"My fiance’s mom agreed with my mom," she says. "Because that is what she does for work too."
She was filled with joy and excited for her wedding.
[Image: mother-in-laws-tongue-snake-plant-from-ig.jpg]
Those happy feelings faded when she received a scathing text from her mother-in-law.
(Her mother-in-law has been symbolically pictured here as a plant that is sometimes called mother-in-law's tongue)
You know how you can accidentally message the wrong person, and it just makes you want to curl up into a ball and disappear?
Well, it turns out that it's almost as bad to receive a wrong text
"The text said the whole day was a s--t show," she writes.
"And," she continues, her future mother-in-law wrote "that my mom advised me to not take my fiance’s name for career reasons."
"I'm so hurt that she would go around spreading lies about my mom," she says. "She knows that's not what my mom said."
[Image: wedding-cake-generic-image-from-instagram.jpg]
Obviously, that's horrifying.

What she thought had been a pleasant day turned into a nightmare.
She told her fiance and he even confronted his mother.
When he asked his mom to apologize, she writes, the woman who will soon be her mother-in-law refused.
"Honestly, I'm more worried she is now going around to his family and saying mean things about my mom," the woman writes.
It makes sense to feel more offended on her mother's behalf.
[Image: wedding-dress-generic-image-from-instagram-03.jpg]
"I'm not sure what to do at this point," the woman confesses.
This is why she went onto Reddit to ask for advice.
"I saw my future mother in law the other day and she refused to look at me or even talk to me," she reveals.
All jokes from people who despise their mothers-in-law aside, you don't really want to not be on speaking terms with your spouse's mom.
"But I'm the kind of person who likes to kill you with kindness," the woman concludes. "Which seems to drive her crazy."
Some suggest that she go on as she's doing, but to be on guard that this could happen again.
Others think that continuing to be polite will let this woman sweep this matter under the rug -- and that she should go to war over it.
But good luck for this woman's wedding.

A helicopter that crashed shortly after leaving a Texas wedding reception, killing the bride and groom and a pilot, had collided with a steep hillside near the ranch where the nuptials were held.

The helicopter crashed about five to ten minutes after takeoff, strewing wreckage across the rugged hillside about five miles from the nearest road and leaving the main body of the aircraft 'hanging perilously,' the National Transportation Safety Board said.

Abducted Zamfara twins, Hassana and Husaina

The abductors Zamfara twin sisters have threatened to kill one of the girls if payment of their ranson is not made on time.

The twins, Hassana and Hussaina, were kidnapped last month in Dauran town while distributing the invitation cards of their wedding.

A family member, Ibrahim Abubakar, who spoke with the kidnappers and the twins on phone said the kidnappers had reduced the ransom to N15million.

“We are only able to get N6m selling our properties and receiving contributions from family members, politicians, traders and ordinary people,” Mr Abdubakar told DAILY NIGERIAN on Thursday night.

[Image: ca3f3c2b-zamfara-twins.jpg?resize=640%2C438&ssl=1]

In a viral audio clip, one of the twin sisters, Hussaina was heard sobbing, complaining about maltreatment and appealing for help.

“I am battling with headache. We are in dire situation, they are about to kill us,” Hussaina sobbed.

“The beat us every morning. Please help rescue us. Even yesterday, they slaughtered some people in our presence.

“We are starving. Please get contributions even from the general public.”

But one of the abductor’s interjected, saying the call would be the last he would make with the twins as they failed to deliver the ransom.

The state government had last week directed the recruitment of 8,500 civilian Joint Task Force operatives from 17 emirate councils across the state to assist security agencies in combating insecurity.

2019: We Won’t Use Government Money For Buhari's Campaign –lai Mohammed
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 11-16-2018, 10:29 AM - No Replies

Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture in this interview with TEMIDAYO AKINSUYI debunks the claim by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that he is diverting funds meant for his Ministry into President Muhammadu Buhari’ campaign for 2019. Excerpts:

The PDP, through its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbodiyan has accused you of diverting funds budgeted for your Ministry into President Buhari’s reelection. How true is this claim?

I usually don’t respond to the PDP because they really don’t have anything tangible to say. I think the PDP is just waking up to the realisation that they can’t win this election if the campaigns are based on issues. Our Social Investment Programme didn’t start last year. It didn’t even start in 2016. It started right from day one when we came to office.

This Social Investment Programme is the most apolitical programme of any government you can ever find. As a matter of fact, the truth of the matter is that APC politicians and appointees are very unhappy with the scheme because it does not follow the normal line of political patronage. People involved in this programme are completely apolitical. You apply online and if you are successful, you are chosen. There is no way it can be manipulated. At a point in time, some political appointees complained that you don’t do this. But the Vice- President and his team insisted that it is a social investment programme and it must be apolitical.

The PDP is now suddenly frightened by the success of this programme. That is the honest truth. When this programme started in 2015, PDP thought it was impossible to achieve. Today, this programme comprises of four major components.

There is the School feeding programme. Today, this programme feeds nine million, three hundred thousand pupils, one meal per day. It covers 26 states, about 60, 000 primary schools and in the process, it has employed over 97,000 cooks”.

So, the PDP is definitely frightened by the success. A government that feeds nine million, three hundred thousand pupils in every schoolday and in the process, employs over 97,000 cooks is a government that has left an indelible mark in the sands of time. The fall-out of this is that every week, 594,000 cows are slaughtered to feed these children. Every week, these children consume 6.8 million eggs. So, through this programme, jobs are being provided for farmers. This is the major reason why PDP is frightened and yet that is just one aspect of the social investment programme.

How is this progamme funded?

This programme is funded by budgetary provisions. Every year, we went to the National Assembly to get provision for this programme. The second tranche of this social investment programme is the N-power, which as I speak today has employed about 500,000 unemployed graduates. Again, none of these programmes started yesterday. They all started in 2015, 2016. The third component of the social investment programme is the Conditional Cash Transfer which today services about 297,000 most vulnerable and poorest households in some states of the federation, because it is a pilot programmed that we are running. With this programme, the sum of N5,000 is given every month to about 297,000 most vulnerable and poorest families in Nigeria. The fourth component is the Government Enterprises Empowerment Programmed (GEEP). This is made of three tranches. There is the market money, trader money and farmers money. Between them, they have benefited 1.1 million as cooperatives and individuals. These are programmes that are well advertised and Nigerians know about. So, how can some people now turn around to say that we are using government money for politics as PDP have claimed? When we started this programme, they never gave us a chance.

Between TradersMoni, FarmersMoni and MarketMoni, we have touched the lives of about 1.1 million Nigerians. How can PDP now start complaining that we are using government money for politics? These are visible programmes that are well advertised. The Vice-President has been on the roads in the last three years inaugurating these things. We advertised our school feeding programmes, those benefiting from it are both PDP and APC states. We don’t make any distinction between the children. All the children are Nigerians, our children. So, how can anybody wake up in the night and say it is being funded with Ministry’s funds? The PDP know they debate us on issues. We have touched the lives of so many people. A government that feeds a minimum of nine million, three hundred and sixty four children everyday is not a government that you can toy with. So, that is why the PDP is afraid. They are jittery. The average students doesn’t care who is providing the meals for him in school.

Looking at the polity right now, would you say your party has fulfilled its electoral promises to the people?

We were very categorical that we were going to address three areas of governance; we are going to fight corruption; we are going to fight insecurity and we are going to revamp the economy. I can say, with all sense of modesty, that we can beat our chest that we have delivered in all those areas.

In the area of power, we inherited 2,900 MWs of power; today we are generating more than 7,000 MW of power. Of course we are unable to transmit all the power because of the state of the transmission line, and don’t forget that even that power had been largely privatised even before we came in and we had been able to give support. We guaranteed N702 billion revolving loan that if you produce, we pay and that is why you have seen this exponential increase in power supply. So, I do not see any area where we cannot say we have not made progress

You see we have delivered all promises we made. We came in and we promised we were going to fight insecurity. At that time, the major threat to the corporate existence of Nigeria was the Boko Haram insurgency and despite what anybody says, we have decimated Boko Haram. We brought Boko Haram under complete control because when we came in on May 29, 2015, 24 local governments in the North East, an area three times the size of Lebanon, were under the effective control of Boko Haram and what this means is that they were running the administration. As a matter of fact, once we got to Maiduguri, that was the end of Borno State. If you move outside, either to Kaure, Konduga or Bama, they were under the control of Boko Haram. By 2014, 2015, nobody in Abuja could sleep with his two eyes closed. They came and attacked ThisDay headquarters with casualties, they attacked the UN Headquarters, they attacked the IGP office, Nyanya park was bombed twice, they were active in Suleja, Kaduna, Sokoto, Plateau, Nasarrawa, Kogi. As a matter of fact, there was hardly any state in the North that Boko Haram was not operating. It was nipped in the bud in Kwara.

But today there is relative peace. We have been able to recover all territories and today no single inch of Nigerian territory is under the Boko Haram control. Yes, there have been suicide bombings, that is what terrorism is all about. Few months ago in US, we saw terrorist attack. About three months ago, we saw what happened in Texas. Terrorists killed many children. This is not a sign of renewed threat rather it is a sign of desperation and weakness. Look at the regularity it used to occur and now. It is all about intelligence gathering.

Rhapsody Of Realities

FAITH IS KEY

Friday, November 16th

By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went (Hebrews 11:8).

The Bible described Abraham as the father of faith. The Lord spoke to him to travel to an unknown destination that would become his home, and without further instructions, Abraham stepped out in faith. He didn’t question the Lord; he simply acted on the instruction.

Hebrews 11:9 says, “By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise.” In other words, as he journeyed, wherever he pitched his tent or lived with his family at any given time, he lived unto God by faith, on the basis of what God had told him.

On another occasion, the Lord said to him “…for a father of many nations have I made thee” (Genesis 17:5). Abraham believed the Word of the Lord, even though he was still childless and all he had were his servants. Nevertheless, by the spirit of faith, he apprehended what the Lord had said, made confessions accordingly, and walked in the reality of it.

Galatians 3:7 tells us they that are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham; which means we’re to follow his example. Therefore, ours is a life of faith; faith is the currency by which we operate in the Kingdom. We’re creatures of faith, from a lineage of faith. The Bible says, “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). Hebrews 11:1 NLT says, “What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see.”

Faith is living according to God’s principles, trusting that He’s whom He says He is, that He’s done what He says He’s done, and that He’s given you what He says He’s given you. Faith is anchoring your life on God’s Word, refusing to be swayed to the left or to the right; it’s the title-deed to unseen realities. Blessed be God!

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for the opportunity to demonstrate my faith and live by the principles of our glorious Kingdom. I live a life of faith, and as I act on the Word, my faith is built strong, exercised and energised for continuous success, victories and triumphs. My faith is alive and working, producing the desired results, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think [of himself] more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

Hebrews 11:1-2 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

N2.5bn Fraud Uncovered In Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation
User Avatar Forum: News

November 15, 2018Evelyn Okakwu

Quote:The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) is investigating the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) over the misapplication of N2.5 billion seed grant released to the agency by the federal government for its digital switch-over programme.

The commission, in a statement signed by Rasheedat Okoduwa, its spokesperson, on Thursday said it has so far quizzed the NBC Director General, Ishaq Kawu, and other top management staff of the agency over their alleged involvements in the misapplication of the fund.

The presidency had in 2016, released N10 billion to the Ministry of Information and Culture for the digital switch-over programme which entails migration of telephone lines from analogue to digital platforms and a White Paper was issued directing that the process be specifically handled by government-affiliated companies.

Based on the guidelines provided by the White Paper, two companies were nominated to handle the process, one of which was ITS, an affiliate of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). About N1.7 billion was released to it as seed grant for the commencement of the switch-over.

However, ICPC said on Thursday that through investigation, it discovered that the process was fraught with alleged corrupt practices.

“It was alleged that Mr Kawu fraudulently recommended a private company called Pinnacle Communications Limited, to the Minister of Information and Culture, for the release of N2.5 billion against the guidelines contained in the White Paper.

“The N2.5 billion was paid into the Zenith Bank account of Pinnacle Communications Limited in May/June, 2017 for the programme.

“The DG NBC during interactions with the Commission could not justify why the government White Paper was flouted leading to the release of money to an unqualified company,” the statement said.

It added that the Managing Director of Pinnacle, Dipo Onifade, during interrogation confirmed the release of the funds to the company. He could not justify that the money was used for the purpose of digital switch-over.

The commission also said through investigation, it discovered several suspicious transfers of large sums of funds from the account of the company into the bank accounts of several organisations and individuals.

It found out that N100 million of the fund was paid into the personal bank account of Mr Onifade in Zenith Bank which he claimed was for legal services that he had rendered to the same Pinnacle Communications where he is employed.

Also investigation revealed that another N450 million was transferred into the account of Sabdat Investment Limited, a Bureau de Change, which then converted the money into dollars and handed it over to the Chairman of Pinnacle Communications Limited, Lucky Omoluwa, in his Kaduna residence as he usually did with other funds.

Mr Omoluwa had repeatedly failed to honour invitations, the Commission said.

“He had also sought the leave of the Federal High Court, Abuja, to stop the investigation as well as unfreeze the Zenith Bank account of the company that was frozen by ICPC, but was however ordered by the same court to appear before ICPC for interrogation before the next adjourned date of 3rd December, 2018 before his case would be heard.

” In compliance with the court order, Mr. Omoluwa has appeared before the Commission where he made useful statements to investigators,” the ICPC added.

ASUU: See Outcome Of Todays ASUU Meeting With Federal Government

A meeting between the Nigerian government and university lecturers has ended Thursday evening without resolution of the nationwide strike by the teachers.

The teachers said the strike which began on November 4 would continue.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) called the strike over its demands for improved funding of universities and welfare of lecturers.

Thursday’s meeting began 3p.m and ended 8:15 p.m.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, said government’s discussion with ASUU will continue next week .
Mr Ngige earlier said the meeting with the university teachers was late in coming due to the minimum wage negotiation.

He appealed to ASUU to put the interests of student as who are at the receiving end into consideration.

ASUU president, Biodun Ogunyemi, said the union have tendered its request and also said the meeting has been adjourned till next week.

According to him, no date has been fixed but “we will communicate the date to you tomorrow,” he told waiting journalists.

He said the union was forced to call the strike after its plea for the implementation of the 2009 agreement fell on deaf ears.

“Our meeting with the education minister in May and September to remind him about federal government promises to implement the agreement yielded no result,” he said.

Mr Ogunyemi earlier said the government had promised to take action on issues raised in the last MOU signed by the two parties but “it does appears that federal government is dribbling the union.”

Strike continues

The Ibadan Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has paraded 34 students with charms over fraud allegations.

The suspected cyber criminals who are between 19 and 37 years of age include: 23 students of Olabisi Onabanjo University, out of which 9 were ladies who allegedly claimed to be girlfriends and or neighbours of some of the suspects; one from the National Open University of Nigeria and 12 others are non-students.

The Commission got wind of their activities through series of intelligence alleging that the suspected fraudsters engaged in fraudulent activities of obtaining money by false pretences through sending emails to unsuspecting victims mostly in the U.S while others were engaged in romance scam on several dating sites.

At the point of arrest, EFCC operatives recovered over 300 SIM cards from them. Other items recovered from the suspects include: different models and brands of exotic cars, 18 laptops, 50 phones and two bags of charms from them.

Several documents containing false pretences were also recovered from the suspects. Suspects would be charged to court accordingly as soon as investigation is concluded.

Minimum Wage: Many Govs Ready To Pay More Than N30,000 — NLC
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 11-16-2018, 06:57 AM - No Replies

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has dismissed the threat by state governors to reduce their workforce if compelled to pay N30,000 as national minimum wage, saying it represented the position of a few anti-worker governors.

NLC president Comrade Ayuba Wabba, said in a statement yesterday that many worker-friendly governors are ready to pay even higher than the negotiated N30,000.

The Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) had said in a communiqué on Wednesday that states would go bankrupt if forced to pay the proposed N30,000 minimum wage, unless the revenue sharing formula is reviewed or workers downsized.

Wabba said NGF’s threat to sack workers is not new in the struggle for a new minimum wage in Nigeria, adding that the one by the NGF, led by Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari, cannot be used to intimidate labour.

He said the consequences of retrenching workers are too grievous for any political office holder truly elected by the people to contemplate.

He said, “We propose that since a few political office holders are bent on enslaving Nigerian workers with peanuts mislabeled as salaries, we urge such elected public officials to subject their humungous salaries and allowances, reputed to be among the highest in the world, pro rata with the minimum wage they want to force down the throats of Nigerian workers. We, therefore, urge each State Governor to go to their respective states and inform workers and their families their individual position on the new national minimum wage of N30,000.”

The NLC president directed workers to vote out any politician or political party that refuses to pay the new national minimum wage of N30,000.

He called on President Muhammadu Buhari to be wary of some people, especially in the governors’ forum, who pursue selfish and personal reasons, to present him as an anti-worker president and by extension orchestrate anti-Buhari sentiments in the populace.

“We also call on him to speedily present to the National Assembly the bill on the National Minimum Wage for appropriate amendment and implementation. Because the New National Minimum Wage of N30,000 was a product of intense and robust negotiations at the National Minimum Wage Tripartite Negotiation Committee that lasted for one year,” Wabba said.

Atiku/obi Ticket: Ndigbo Not Decided Who To Vote In 2019 – Ohanaeze Youths

Quote:ON NOVEMBER 15, 2018 4:53 PMIN NEWS,

Abakaliki - The leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, Thursday, declared that Ndigbo have not decided on any Presidential candidate to cast their vote for in the 2019 general election.

In a statement issued in Abakaliki by Comrade Obinna Achionye, the Deputy President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, the group insisted that “no few and outdated leaders in the political circle would mortgage the political future of Ndigbo as they did in 2015.”

According to him: “The leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide had a consultative meeting in Abakiliki and appraised the state of the nation with coalition of Igbo groups and resolved as follows: “Ndigbo have not decided on which direction to vote in 2019 and no fewer and outdated leaders will mortgage the political future of Ndigbo as they did in 2015.

“We shouted then that things were not done properly in the South East especially to the PDP chieftains but now they’re heading the same way which is another political catastrophic mission which will be resisted by the Youths and coalition of Igbo groups.

“Ndigbo will not be carried away by euphoria of vice Presidential candidate, an additional State Creation is better in the South East.

“We call President Buhari to seek redress and appease Ndigbo before the years run out to regain the loss of confidence of Igbo Youths, especially in terms of job creation and minimum wage issue, though we applaud Buhari on the massive road rehabilitation in the South East.

“We believe that Ndigbo will have a rethink if the Federal Government revamps Enugu coal mine, creates jobs and creates additional State to south East. With a new state, there will be more political space; with additional Governor, 3 Senators,10 Federal Representatives, 24 House of Assembly members, 20 LGA Chairmen, many Councillors, its better than Vice President.

“We call on Ndigbo to collect their PVCs immediately without further delay from INEC offices in their various LGA. We frown at the information of over 500 thousand uncollected PVCs in IMO state and insist that INEC should make it easier for Ndigbo rather than hoarding PVCs.

“We insist there will be election in 2019 in South East, and we will continue to persuade our Agitators to have a common ground.

“We urge Ndigbo, especially Youths, to be law abiding as operation Python dance is about to commence and by intelligent reports, this Python Dance 3 will be more provocative than the previous ones and agitators should shun acts capable of losing the lives of Igbo Youths especially the incident of a church where Biafran flags was hoisted in Aba, “We call the Army to be more friendly in the Operation Python dance 3,and not to provoke Ndigbo in anyway. Ndigbo will choose who they will vote for in 2019 Presidential election when the chips are down. Nobody will decide for Ndigbo in 2019.

“We call on those Igbo elders to take the back seat as Igbo Youths and Agitators have taken over the driver’s seat on where Ndigbo will vote, as any Presidential candidate dealing with few elders will have a repeat of 2015 episode, where elders collected millions and betrayed PDP, and Igbo Youths boycotted voting, “Ndigbo will decide by January. APC and PDP have equal opportunity in grabbing Igbo Votes in 2019.”

Atiku: I Will Risk Inflation To Win Huge Foreign Investments
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 11-15-2018, 09:39 PM - No Replies

The residential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has said he would be willing to risk plunging Nigeria’s economy into inflation in order to guarantee inflow of foreign investments.

Mr Abubakar, a former vice president, said he would float the naira, so as to allow free market determine the value of the national currency, a controversial position that stands in sharp contrast to the belief of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“I would prefer to float the naira because I believe that will bring about a more stable exchange rate,” Mr Abubakar told The Africa Report in recent interview. “Therefore, foreign investors are more likely to return to Nigeria and invest as much as possible.”

“We have to create more incentives for foreign investment and relax conditionalities, remove regulations as much as possible. But what you forget, it has two side effects,” he said.

When challenged that the policy could worsen Nigeria’s inflation rate, which stood at 11.3 percent in September after averaging 16.5 percent in 2017, Mr Abubakar said the foreign currency that potential investors would pump into Nigeria would be enough to cushion the imminent crisis of inflation on Nigerians.

“There could be devaluation and there could be a lot of inflow of foreign currency into the country. The devaluation that is likely to result can be balanced with the relatively huge [sums of] foreign currency that will be coming into the country. We had that situation prior to the departure of [former president] Goodluck Jonathan.

“At that time, we had a pile of foreign investment in the country, and there was stability of the naira. So people did not have to go to the central bank to look for foreign exchange because there was foreign exchange in the market and in the banks. So it could turn out to be a win-win situation,” he said.

The policy the candidate is proposing could send commodity prices through the roof in an import-dependent economy like Nigeria.

But it conforms with his longstanding position that Nigeria’s economy should be guided by free market principles.

Currently, the country’s manufacturing sector has been widely deemed moribund by industrialists and economists. Mr Abubakar’s proposal, which he said was successful when tried before, did not seem to fathom what would become of Nigeria’s economy in the transition period between foreign investments and and growth.

“There is no amount of foreign foreign investment that would drive down inflation,” Enobong Udoh, an economist, told PREMIUM TIMES Thursday morning.

Mr Udoh said the problem with Nigeria’s inflation has more to do with the monetary policies of the Central Bank of Nigeria, some of which a president might not be able to control to avoid being seen as compromising the independence of the institution.

“People emphasise too much on fiscal policy and not the monetary policy, which is actually the problem,” Mr Udoh said. “If you are having interest rate of over 25 percent, it is not good, and you cannot use foreign investments to drive down its immediate impact.”

Mr Udoh said Nigeria’s real inflation rate is over 25 percent, casting strong doubts over the 12 percent which the statistics office is reporting.

“Inflation is about 25 percent right now,” Mr Udoh said. “Banks are giving out loans at about 25 percent and they try to make two or three percent interest on each loan.”

He suggested a reshuffling of top management officials at CBN as way to drive down lending rates.

“The guys at the CBN are in charge of monetary policy, but they do not know what they are doing,” he said. “they are not doing well at all and they should be removed urgently before we could have a sensible economy.”

Mr Buhari strongly rejected calls to float the naira between 2015 and 2016, although he eventually yielded to calls to devalue when it became clear that the CBN could no longer defend the national currency.

Mr Abubakar’s comments to The Africa Report, which come four days to the formal opening of presidential campaign, have also elicited critical reviews by commentators in the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Mr Abubakar “is clearly proposing a suicidal economic plan for Nigeria,” Ayo Akanji, an APC strategist, told PREMIUM TIMES. “Nigerians can now begin to see that they risk voting in a man who lacks basic understanding of macroeconomics.”

“This is a voodoo and crooked economic policy that he might have used in his private businesses and assumed would work for Nigeria,” Mr Akanji said.

“Nigerians should now compare this dangerous proposal with how the Buhari administration has been implementing a holistic home-grown solution to our economic problems, which has been working for us as evident in gradual and sustainable uptick in the country’s economic activities,” the strategist said.

Armed Robbers Gunned Down After Being Traced To A Brothel In Delta.

Security operatives have gunned down some armed robbery suspects after tracking down to a hotel in Delta.

It was gathered that the security men who had been on the manhunt for the notorious robbers, traced them to a brothel along Adeola by Crudas road junction in Sapele of the state - where they were probably having fun on Wednesday (yesterday).

According to reports, the robbery suspects were gunned down while trying to take off after sighting by the security agents.

It will be recalled that some parts of Sapele over the last few months have been under siege of armed robbery attack as residents lamented and called on the security agencies to step up to the insecurity in the area.

This is coming days after police cop attached to the Delta State Police Command, was killed by suspected bandits in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

Two rifles and a pistol were also reportedly carted away by the bandits during the attack on the policemen, who were said to be on a stop – and – search duty in Asaba.

This is quite unfortunate. An elderly man was killed after being involved in a fatal accident at the second gate of Gbagi market in Ibadan, Oyo state on Monday, 12th of November, 2018.

It was gathered that, the deceased and his wife just arrived Nigeria from London on Sunday and came together to the market for shopping before he was crushed to death by a truck.

According to an eyewitness who spoke with ADITU, the victim came to the market to buy some clothes ahead of his child's wedding when he met his untimely death.

The witness further stressed that, the London returnee was hit by an incoming motorcycle as he was trying cross the expressway, in attempt to return to his car parked at the other side of the road after he urinated.

Subsequently, he was crushed by an incoming truck before he could regain his stand, and he died instantly. Sadly, the wife returned to meet her husband's headless body lying on the ground.

As a result, both the truck driver and motorcyclist fled with their vehicle after seeing what had happened. .

The corpse was taken to the victim's residence at Muslim, Ibadan.

Man Beats Wife For Refusing To Suck Him In Lagos, Dumps Her In Hospital & Flees

Posted by: Edoman - 11-15-2018, 09:01 PM - No Replies

A Nigerian, Lara Wise, took to Facebook to share the story of a man in Lagos who beat his wife to pulp, drove her to hospital and ran away because she refused to suck his joystick.

Read the story below...

"what I want to tell u is that make that church ur new home don't bother come to my house cos u won't believe what I will do to u.make sure pastor becomes ur husband from today n anything u need collect it from pastor.if u want to remain in ur matrimonial home as u said then u must do whatever I ask u to do,if not from today u will not av peace with me except u abide by my rules."

."dat's message from XX dis morning ooo he has be beating me dis morning because he want me to be socking his penn*s."

I spent the better part of yesterday on this horrible case of matrimonial abuse.
Someone called from the hospital where the man had driven his wife to after beating her to a pulp.  He beat her up,  drove her to the hospital,  dropped her there and drove away.
The hospital staff said this girl is a regular here and for the same reason.
What this lady told me weakened me.  I am surprised she is not dead.  But I fear she might very soon if help does not come her way.
I eventually got to speak with her family members who told me the beatings are too rampant. Some months ago,  he beat her badly and left her for dead in the rain outside their house.
I immediately arranged for her to be taken to a safe place as soon as she left the hospital.  I also arranged for her kids to be picked up from school to be with her.

I have two challenges at the moment and that is why I am sharing this.
1. My phone wiped off some contacts including those of the people (NGOs) I would have reached out to for help over this matter.  I need an NGO ASAP.  I have this girl's contact as well as those of her husband and the doctor.
2. This incident happened in Lagos and I am far from there at the moment.

Nigerians, please help save this life.
Thank you''

Samuel Ortom: I Have Been Paying Salaries Since I Left APC
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Samuel Ortom, governor of Benue state, says since he dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC), he has been paying workers their salaries.

According to the governor, godfatherism in APC did not allow him to be a free man.

He stated this while swearing in nine commissioners in Makurdi, the state capital.

Ortom said there is no “godfatherism again in Benue” under his watch.

He said since he defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he had become free to pay salaries.

“There is no godfatherism again in Benue under my watch. That is why you can see that since I detached myself from godfather, even salary I have been able to pay as at when due,” he said.

“I’m seeking for other ways in offsetting the remaining arrears of salaries. Since I left APC, I have been paying salaries. In APC, godfathers will not allow me but now I’m a free man.”

OAU Professor Dismissed For Demanding "Sex For Marks", Lands In Fresh Trouble
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 11-15-2018, 12:32 PM - No Replies

Quote:A professor who was dismissed for allegedly demanding s-x from a student for marks has landed in another trouble.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, is set to arraign a former lecturer of the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Prof. Richard Akindele, at the Federal High Court, Osogbo.

Recall that Mr Akindele, a lecturer in the OAU’s Department of Management and Accounting, was caught on top allegedly demanding for s-x from one of his students, Miss Monica Osagie, in lieu of academic benefits.

The ICPC’s decision to publicise Prof Akindele’s impending arraignment is in fulfillment of the commission’s promise to the public in a rejoinder in the same newspaper dated September 7, 2018, to avail them of the outcome of the investigation in due time

In a statement, the anti-corruption agency disclosed that the dismissed lecturer would be arraigned on Monday on a three-count charge.
According to the ICPC, Mr Akindele is accused of using his position as to demand sexual benefit from a student and fraudulently upgrade her result in Research Method course which she supposedly failed in 2017.

The commission said that his actions were contrary to Sections 8 (1) (a) (ii), and 18 (d) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000 and are punishable under the same sections.

The 57-year-old professor has asked for plea-bargain having admitted guilt. He also cited ill-health as a factor that may make him unable to stand the rigours of prison life, notifying the Commission through his lawyer, Omotayo Alade-Fawole.

He pleaded that his prayers for plea-bargain be considered, more so as he was already serving punishment for his offence having been sacked by the university.

Secondus Accuses INEC Of Designing Special Card Reader For APC
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 11-15-2018, 12:27 PM - No Replies

You are spreading fake news, APC, INEC tell PDP

Quote:Onyebuchi Ezigbo, Adedayo Akinwale and Mercy Apollos in Abuja

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of designing special card reader and result sheets for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The chairman also warned the Chairman of the commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, that history would be unkind to him if he fails to conduct free and fair election in 2019.

But in a swift reaction, the Chief Press Secretary to INEC chairman, Mr. Rotimi Oyekanmi, said there was no iota of truth in what Secondus said, adding that the commission will not be joining issues with any political party.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has also accused the main opposition party of engaging in propaganda and dissemination of fake information as a means of scoring cheap political points.

Secondus stated this while hosting election team of the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) led by Mohammad Conteh at the party’s national campaign headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.

The PDP chairman alleged that the electoral commission is working in conjunction with the ruling APC to rig the elections in 2019.

He therefore cautioned that manipulation of election in 2019 would be a recipe for crisis in the country, stressing that INEC chairman would be held accountable.

The PDP chairman in a statement yesterday by his Media Adviser, Ike Abonyi, alleged that the commission used the governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun States as rehearsal to practice their rigging strategy for 2019.

He stated: “They have finished their rigging arrangements with preloaded cards and special election result sheets all doctored to favour the ruling APC.

“The INEC chairman has no strong will to follow our electoral laws and constitution as well as the laid down international standards in his processes towards 2019, and we want to let the world know this before it happens.

“They have finished plots to isolate states of Kano, Benue, Rivers, Bauchi, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Imo and Kwara and Lagos for disruption during the general election so that they can plan well to mobilise the rigging.”

Secondus alleged that the commission’s rigging agenda is being propelled by the security agencies especially with the current Inspector General of Police (IG) who he said has proved to be the most violent bias police boss in the country.

He noted that his party was using the INEC template they saw in Ektiti and Osun States to reiterate their lack of confidence in the commission as nothing has happened to show that there is going to do anything different from what they did in those two states.

However, the Chief Press Secretary to INEC chairman, Mr. Rotimi Oyekanmi, said there was no iota of truth in what Secondus said, adding that the commission will not be joining issues with any political party.

According to Oyekanmi, “There is no iota of truth in the allegations being made by the PDP. The commission is focusing on preparations for the 2019 general elections at the moment and will not join issues with any political party, especially the one that has perfected the art of raising false alarms.”

Also, the APC has accused the PDP of engaging in propaganda and dissemination of fake information as a means of scoring cheap political points.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Lanre Isa-Onilu, the ruling party said rather than focus on development issues, the PDP and its agents have chosen to populate the mainstream and social media space with ludicrous fake news and infantile conspiracy theories, moving from one absurdity to another.

“Disturbingly, the country’s main opposition, PDP, and its discredited agents have continued to deploy the loathsome strategy of fake news, misinformation and distortion of facts as focal campaign strategies for the 2019 elections,” it said.

APC said it is not surprised at the PDP’s typical theatrics in an attempt to evade scrutiny for its 16 years of bad governance, adding that it is instructive to the electorate that no lessons have been learnt by the prodigal party.

According to the ruling party, “It is indeed clear to the electorate that the PDP is not a party to either be trusted or taken seriously as it has missed out on the opportunity to apologise and show remorse for the cruelty it wrought on our country while in power.

“Instead of engaging the electorate on serious issues of development such as health, education, economy, foreign policy, security, corruption, pension, job creation, infrastructure development among others, the PDP and its agents have chosen to populate the mainstream and social media space with ludicrous fake news and infantile conspiracy theories, moving from one absurdity to another.”

APC further said the PDP is engaging in shadow-chasing through fake news and spurious allegations, insisting that PDP cannot pull the wool over the eyes of the good people of this country

Dasuki, Diezani, Shema, Fayose Houses Top List Of Seized Assets
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 11-15-2018, 12:25 PM - No Replies

Quote:[Image: Seized-Asset-759x470.jpg]

Owners of the mansions seized by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have been unveiled. They are former governors, ex-ministers, top military officers and businessmen.

Leading the pack is a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, who has forfeited some prized assets. Lost to the Federal Government by the ex-Minister are a multi-storey building in Banana Island Foreshore Estate in Ikoyi, Lagos; a real estate comprising six flats in Ikoyi and an estate of 21 mixed housing in Yaba, Lagos.

Many properties allegedly linked with Diezani have also been placed under interim forfeiture by the anti-graft commission. Also, the EFCC has secured the final seizure of Flat 7B at Osborne Towers in Ikoyi, Lagos where $43.45 million cash was recovered. The embattled former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki, has two properties in Kaduna and Abuja temporarily forfeited to the government.

Also, a former Managing Director of PPMC, Haruna Momoh, who is overseas, loses two mansions in posh Maitama District to temporary forfeiture order.

Some ex-governors and former ministers whose assets have been placed under interim forfeiture are Ibrahim Shema(20); Ayodele Fayose (three); Babangida Aliyu (two); Bello Mohammed (ex-PDP National chairman) – one; Iyorchia Ayu (one); Isa Yuguda(one) and Abba Moro(one).

Others are ex-Managing Director of Platinum Multi-purpose Cooperative Society Limited Mr. Michael Osasogie Obasuyi, who bought 134 buses, 20 houses with N11.4billion slush cash.

The highlights of the forfeited assets were contained in a document, which The Nation stumbled on.

According to the Acting Chairman of EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, about 407 mansions were seized by the agency from 2015 to 2018.

He said: “Hundreds of properties such as filling stations, petroleum products, land, jewellery, automobiles, real estate, vessels, hospitals, company shares and heavy machinery and broadcast equipment, have been seized from corrupt elements between 2015 and 2018.

“From 2015 to 2018, 407 mansions were seized, 126 have been forfeited finally and 281 are under interim forfeiture.

“Nine filling stations were seized and placed under interim forfeiture. Lands seized sums up to 98, of which 56 are under interim forfeiture while 42 have been forfeited finally to the Federal Government.”

The document indicated that the EFCC is empowered by the law to place all suspicious assets under Interim Assets Forfeiture – in line with Sections 28 and 34 of the EFCC (Establishment Act) 2004 and Section 13(1) of the Federal High Court Act, 2004.

Section 28 of the EFCC Act reads: “Where a person is arrested for an offence under this Act, the Commission shall immediately trace and attach all the assets and properties of the person acquired as a result of such economic or financial crime and shall thereafter cause to be obtained an interim attachment order from the Court.”

Section 13 of the Federal High Court Act reads in part: “The Court may grant an injunction or appoint a receiver by an interlocutory order in all cases in which it appears to the Court to be just or convenient so to do.

“Any such order may be made either unconditionally or on such terms and conditions as the Court thinks just.”

On the forfeited assets, Magu said they had been handed over to the Federal Government for use by Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

He said: “The ones (the assets) that have been forfeited finally to the Federal Government were those allocated to federal agencies to save cost because these government agencies spend a lot of money to rent properties.

“We tried as much as possible to avoid recourse to the auctioning of these assets. If you auction, you sell at peanuts. And the EFCC tried to distant itself from the auctioning of the forfeited properties. We have left the initiative of what to do with recovered assets to the Federal Government.

“As a matter of fact, I am not interested in any property. To me, to get the work done is the most important.”

MTN Shares Rise By 2.6% On Possible Resolution Of $10b Demand
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 11-15-2018, 12:22 PM - No Replies

Shares of South Africa’s MTN Group rose by 2.6 per cent Wednesday, on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, following media report of a possible resolution and reduction of the $10.1 billion claims on it in Nigeria.

Bloomberg, while quoting a source, said the deal hasn’t been signed and could yet fall through.

On Tuesday, the Group Chief Executive Officer, Rob Shuter, had said that the telecommunications firm was doing everything within it means to resolve the issue amicably.

The Nigerian authority had asked MTN to refund $8.1 billion allegedly repatriated out of the country without due process and the Office of the Attorney-General, equally asked the telecommunications firm to pay $2 billion tax arrears.

Media report claimed that MTN may likely get a reduction from the $10 billion to about $800 million. However, a source very close to MTN told The Guardian, Wednesday that if MTN admitted to getting a reduction, “it would amount to the fact that telecommunications firm was culpable. Moreover, the case is in Court already, and they have a good case at hand. I don’t see where the $800 million would come in.”

But the Senate has condemned attempt by the Federal Government to reduce the $10.1 billion fine imposed on the communication giant, MTN, to $800 million.

The upper chamber said the planned reduction of the fine is a matter of interest to it, noting that although it was not particularly against whatever the government would want to do with the MTN fine, it should be intimated on why the reduction became necessary.

The Central Bank of Nigeria had in a recent statement by its Governor, Godwin Emefiele, hinted that it would reduce the amount it ordered MTN Nigeria to repatriate.

But Chairman, Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions, Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim, told reporters on Tuesday in Abuja that he was shocked when he was contacted that the CBN failed to implement Senate resolutions before conducting another investigation into the alleged infraction by MTN.

Ibrahim said his committee would immediately ask for CBN’s report on the matter to be better informed, adding that the only way Nigerians would know what transpired between the CBN and MTN on the $10.1 billion fine was through a detailed report.

Another $1.15BN Goes Missing From NNLG Account After Withdrawal By NNPC

Another $1.15BN Goes Missing From NNLG Account After Withdrawal By NNPC
[size=undefined][Image: nigerian_senate_2015.jpg]
The Senate Committee on Gas on Wednesday said it has uncovered a fresh illegal withdrawal of $1.15 billion from the dividends accounts of the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation.

The new revelation is different from the $1.05 billion which the Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Maikanti Baru, had earlier admitted was withdrawn on the presidential directive, a report by Punch notes.

Two weeks ago, PREMIUM TIMES published documents of how the federal government illegally diverted $1.05 billion (N378 billion at N360 to a dollar) to secretly fund subsidy payment on petroleum products.

Documents published by this newspaper show that the fund was sourced at the height of the fuel scarcity crisis between last December and January and was secretly diverted into payments on petrol supply and distribution.

Dividends from the gas firm are meant to be shared by the federal, state and local governments of Nigeria. The funds are supposed to be paid into the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the Federation rather than spent unilaterally by any tier of government.

PREMIUM TIMES, in the report, confirmed that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government unilaterally — without required consultation with states and the National Assembly– tampered with the NLNG funds. That was also done without appropriation by the National Assembly.

The Senate in a reaction mandated its committee on gas to look into the issue.

On Wednesday, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Gas, Bassey Akpan, explained that the $1.05 billion was withdrawn to bridge the gap of losses being suffered by the corporation on landing cost of imported fuel which is N185 compared to the pump price of N145.

The same panel was mandated by the Senate, two weeks ago, to probe the $1.05 billion which the NNPC withdrew from the accounts in April this year without authorisation by relevant authorities.

The committee subsequently ordered the NNPC and the CBN to submit documents relating to the withdrawals made from the NLNG dividends account within the last two years.

While going through the NLNG documents presented to it on Wednesday by the Chief Operating Officer (Finance) at the CBN, Babatunde Adeniran, the committee observed a series of cash debited from the account from November 2016 to June this year totalling $2.201 billion.

The breakdown of the withdrawals not supported by required approving documents as observed by the committee are $86.5 million withdrawn from the account on November 22, 2016, allegedly being payment on Paris Club loans to the Nigerian Governors Forum, and the $1.05 billion withdrawn on April 17, 2018, as National Fuel Support Fund.

Others are $650 million withdrawn from the account on June 7 this year to offset the Joint Venture Cash Call by the NNPC which ordinarily supposed to be a budget item payment, and $415, 063 million withdrawn from the account also in June without clear explanation on the purpose for which it was meant for.

Not satisfied with the series of withdrawals, the Senate panel ordered officials of the CBN and the NNPC who represented their bosses on Wednesday to forward to it, latest by Tuesday next week, supporting and approving documents for the withdrawals.

Mr Akpan registered his displeasure at the conduct of the two agencies involved.

“From the available documents before us, apart from the $1.05 billion that we are mandated by the Senate to investigate, we have also discovered that several withdrawals were made from the NLNG dividends account without the required supporting documents to back them.

“This is unacceptable to us. We are also not happy that the GMD of NNPC and CBN Governor are not here personally. We are, therefore, not going to continue with the session today.

“Both the NNPC and the CBN must furnish this committee with other relevant documents on the withdrawals latest by Tuesday next week and the NNPC GMD, the Corporations Group Executive Director, Finance, Isiaka Abdulrasak, and the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, must also appear before us.”

Mr Akpan said a document tagged, “Memo NNPC GMD 49” signed by Mr Baru and sent through the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, “had no clear-cut language of a request for approval for the withdrawal of the $1.05 billion but a mere notification”.

“Approval for withdrawal from such fund was supposed to be given by the National Economic Council being an account or dividends owned by the three tiers of government.”
