American Woman, Laura Avila Dies After Getting a Nose Job From a Cheap Mexican Surger
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories

A Dallas, Texas real estate agent who suffered severe brain damage after she jet-setted off to Mexico for a cut-rate nose job that went horribly awry has died.

Laura Avila, 36, was moved to a hospice last week after her family consulted doctors.
Avila was put on life support after having the rhinoplasty procedure, but on the advice of medical experts she was transferred to palliative care last Friday.
[Image: J1iJVlJ.jpg][Image: ZF4hFqA.jpg]
'My angelic sister/second mom/best friend & Heartbeat left us today around 8:20AM,' Laura's sister, Angie Avila, wrote on her Facebook page on Saturday.

'My heart aches, and I truly don’t know how or if I’ll ever overcome this pain.

'What I do know is that I am beyond lucky to have had the chance to be her sister for twenty five wonderful years.

'She’s the love of my life, and I know she will continue to watch over me and guide me just as she always has. I love you, Laura Avila.

'Thank you for being the best sister in the world.'

Enrique Cruz also posted a heartfelt message for his late fiance on Facebook Saturday while vowing to sue 'the criminals that killed her.'

'[At] 8:20 this morning my tiny dancer passed to the other side,' he wrote.

'I knew it was coming but it still hit me unexpectedly. I am not able to feel my emotions until she is at ease.

'When my pops passed away he was cremated [sic] and we had a service and spread most of his ashes in the ocean, he was a Navy man by heart.

'Laura Avila and I had the opportunity to talk about it and we both had agreed that when the time comes this is how we wanted to go.

'It was a beautiful service out side, while the sun set, we all wore white to celebrate life, he was 92 when he passed.

'I digress: she wanted to be cremated and her ashes be spread in the oceans of Tulum where we fell in love AGAIN.

'Since we have been together, It has been a tradition for us to go to the beaches every year for our birthdays in January (mine on the 9th and hers on the 18th).

'I will continue this tradition on January 25th 2019, if my god allows it, i will spread her ashes.

'So, instead of having our wedding in Tulum like we planned, we will be having a ceremony to celebrate her life, to celebrate all the light and love she has given to the world.

'It hasn't really hit me yet, I'm still dealing with the process of getting her body situated.

'I appreciate all the amazing support and texts and messages.

'I do apologize if i don't answer my phone. I am not ready yet. Thank you for the love and support.

'My next mission is justice for Laura. After paying all the hospital bills and giving some financial support to her humble family, I will tenaciously be pursuing the lawsuit against the criminals that killed her.'

Laura Avila's attorney, Larry Friedman, released a statement saying: 'Laura was a beautiful woman, powerful and full of life.

'She had the best of life in front of her until this tragic, unfortunate and senseless death.

'So that her death is not in vain, people should think of Laura before they look for cross border discount surgery.

'They should do their homework and investigate the experience, training and track record of anyone BEFORE they sign up.

'Always LOOK before you leap!'

Last week, Angie Avila created a GoFundMe page in hopes of receiving donations that would help offset significant medical costs.
'Based on the recommendation of Laura's physicians, and after hours of agony and consideration, our family moved Laura to a more comfortable facility late last night,' sister Angie Avila wrote on her GoFundMe page.
'Laura is peacefully resting and her fate is in the hands of God.'

Musiliu Obanikoro Recovers N500M Worth Of Houses and Land Seized By EFCC
User Avatar Forum: News

Former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, and his family members have been able to recover three properties worth about N500m from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

According to a report by Sunday Punch, the properties include four terrace houses located at 44 Mamman Kotangora Crescent in the highbrow Katamkpe Extension area of Abuja; a parcel of land in Guzape District and a duplex at Olori Mojisola Onikoyi Avenue, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Upon visit to the location of the properties on Thursday, the erstwhile red paint inscription, ‘EFCC, Keep Off!’ had been wiped off on the walls of the buildings.

Obanikoro, who defected to the All Progressives Congress from the Peoples Democratic Party about a year ago, was under investigation along with his two sons for alleged money laundering.

The ex-minister was accused of receiving N4.7bn from the Office of the National Security Adviser under the leadership of Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.) in 2014.

About N2.2bn out of the funds was allegedly handed over to the then governorship candidate of the PDP in Ekiti State, Governor Ayodele Fayose, while N1.3bn was said to have been given to the then Osun State governorship candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore.

Obanikoro has, however, been converted to a prosecution witness and is expected to testify against Fayose who he allegedly handed part of the money to.

The ex-minister and his wife, Moroophat, had, in 2016, sued the EFCC for seizing the houses but lost as the court ruled that the EFCC had the right to seize properties of persons under investigation.

In our opinion, once you join the APC while being investigated, your ‘dirty’ slate is wiped clean. Hmmmmmm

"This year, I’m celebrating my range as an Actress as I urge others to stretch themselves and step out oftheir comfort zone! In life, challenges shape and strengthen us as individuals.

As an actor, challenging roles shape and strengthen your ability to interpret more roles and convey emotions. Be you an up-coming, established or seasoned actor, DO NOT allow your self to be typecast. You can actually politely decline till something different/more challenging comes along."

Operation 777: Support For Military Grows Amid Public Anger Over Metele Massacre
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 11-25-2018, 12:35 PM - No Replies

Instead of undermining the might of the Nigerian Military and shattering the morale of Army personnel, the report of the gruesome killing of soldiers by the Boko Haram insurgents in Metele village is increasing trust and confidence in the nation’s Armed Forces among Nigerians, GEORGE AGBA reports.

Last week’s reported loss of gallant soldiers when insurgents allegedly attacked 157 Task Force Battalion in Metele village, Abadan Local Government Area of Borno State was a particularly mournful moment for the nation. But if the attackers thought Nigerians would mourn endlessly, perhaps they may have misfired. How? One may ask. Many Nigerians, groups and interests have risen in their huge number in solidarity with the Armed Forces of Nigeria and families of the fallen heroes.

Even while the authorities were still being awaited to confirm or deny the dastardly attacks by the insurgents, words went in the air saluting the courage and gallantry of the fallen officers. The Senate, on Thursday in Abuja, rising from its adjourned sitting after a minute’s silence over the matter, resolved to pay a condolence visit to the military high command as well as visit soldiers at the theatre of war in a show of solidarity to assure the troops of the nation’s total support, a development which some analysts have described as unprecedented.

Observers believe that the Metele event was probably planned by the insurgents to undermine and jeopardise the ongoing Operation 777 which the Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin, inaugurated on October 8, 2018. Defence Headquarters sources said that the CDS created the operations to be conducted and coordinated simultaneously nationwide to effectively track and hunt down terrorists and criminals attempting to evade military searchlight in the different theatres of operations.

Copious reports from the field commanders under the auspices of the Defence Headquarters, contained in the various press briefings addressed so far in Kaduna, Gusau, Jos and Makurdi penultimate week by the acting director of Defence Information, Brigadier General John Agim, indicated that since the commencement of the review operation, significant and modest operational successes have been recorded across the nation, thereby taking the sail out of the wind of the insurgents. If anything, the ‘Op 777’ preliminary exploits have overshadowed the attacks.

It was gathered that the name of the Op 777 was derived from the number of the existing seven operations including Op Whirl Punch in Abuja-Kaduna axis, Op Sharan Daji in North West of Zamfara, Kaduna, Birnin Gwari axis, Op Safe Haven in Plateau-Bauchi, Op Whirl Stroke in Makurdi, Nasarawa and Taraba, Op Awatse in Lagos and Ogun, Op Clearance in Kogi and Op Delta Safe in Niger Delta.

One of the sources who did not want his name in print because he was not officially permitted to speak on such sensitive issues said that Op 777 was designed, among other things, as practical measures to guarantee considerable security across the country in the build-up to the electioneering campaigns by mopping up illegal arms and ammunitions.

‘’It is not new going by available records from past electioneering campaigns in the country that politics and elections are usually marred by violence, banditry and brigandage. Nothing in the horizon shows that it is going to be different this time around. Our security agencies already have a full plate on their table as far as threats to security is concerned’’, the source said.

Weighing in on the issue, Mr. Emeka Nwankpa, the chief media Strategist of an advocacy group, Concerned Professionals’ Congress (CPC) disagreed, saying that the CDS as a professional who knows the clear constitutional responsibilities of the Armed Forces is bound to be very careful; so, he gave very clear directives about the philosophy, focus and direction of the ongoing Op 777.

He said, “Essentially, the primary purpose of the new creative and innovative Op 777 is to run simultaneously with the seven existing key military operations across the country to track and hunt down bandits, terrorists, kidnappers, cattle rustlers and criminals trying to escape from the areas of operation of the existing operations. From the preliminary reports on the success of the new operation, it is clear that the CDS has been vindicated.

“Weapons and ammunitions are being retrieved and recovered from unauthorised persons, while prowling bandits are being dislodged nationwide, courtesy of the strong determination of our courageous troops, some of who continue to pay the supreme price to secure our nation. We owe them a debt of gratitude”.

The group, in a statement in Abuja endorsed the fresh military initiative by the CDS, General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin, to restructure ongoing military operations and decisively tackle insecurity in the country. CPC called for increased public support to the Nigerian military, saying that the huge gains recorded so far after the fresh initiative was introduced were sufficient proof of the resilience, gallantry, competence and innovativeness of the current military leadership to adequately combat emerging threats to national security, peace and stability.

Nwamkpa continued: “It is indeed delightful to observe that barely one month after Op777 was quietly launched without fanfare in line with what has become part of the trademark winning style of the CDS, our military has started to record so much huge gains across the country such that many Nigerians feel so safe going about their regular socio-economic activities daily without panic, fear or hindrance.

“We are blessed with a military with the heart, spirit and soul to defend the country. What appears lacking now is the critical civilian support to the military which is a component of the security architecture’’, he said.

Expressing confidence in the military leadership under the CDS to guarantee national security, peace and stability, the group noted that the Nigerian Armed Forces is globally reputed for innovative gallantry and professionalism”.

The group praised all the commanders and troops, either serving or had served at the various military operations across the country, for exhibiting rare commitment and devotion to the critical objective of keeping the nation safe, stable and secure. It urged Nigerians from all walks of life, irrespective of race, region, religion or political leaning, to close ranks and fully support the military and other security forces to confront Boko Haram and other non-state actors in the interest of the peace, unity, stability, health and sovereignty of the nation.

Brig Gen Agim told journalists in Kaduna last week that Op WHIRL PUNCH under the troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army had secured and restored normalcy along Kaduna–Abuja Expressway, Birnin Gwari and environs including Niger State hitherto devastated by bandits, kidnappers, armed robbers and cattle rustlers operating from the thick forests of Kamuku, Kuduru, Birnin Gwari and Alawa.

He disclosed that the troops of 1 Division NA, Nigerian Air Force aircrafts, Police and other security agencies had conducted series of raids, ambushes, patrols, road blocks and air strikes against identified camps and hideouts of the criminal elements. Consequently, 14 notorious bandits, cattle rustlers and kidnappers were neutralised while several arms, ammunition and large herds of cattle were recovered.

Also, 18 AK47 rifles, 2 pistols, 3 mobile phones, 1 motorola, large cache’ of ammunition and 32 Motorcycles were recovered including over 331 cows in Birnin Gwari area and 132 cows in Birnin Yero areas respectively. Along the Kaduna–Abuja Expressway, 49 cows and 42 sheep were recovered. All the recovered animals were handed over to their screened and profiled owners.

31 persons (made up of 18 Children and 13 Adults) were rescued from kidnappers within the Area of Operation while 5 bandits and 2 informants were arrested and are currently assisting the security agencies in ongoing investigation. Unfortunately, two soldiers were wounded and are currently receiving treatment at a military hospital in Kaduna. Two civilian vigilante assisting troops in the operation were also killed in action.

In Gusau, Zamfara State, the Defence spokesman disclosed that troops recovered 1,444 Cows, 478 Sheep, 11 Camels, 14 donkeys, 56 rams and 293 goats all of which he said had been handed over to the States Committees on Recovery of Rustled Cattle. Household gadgets and electronic items recovered included 1 deep freezer, 1 generator set and 14 cell phones, 2 military desert camouflages, 1 camo T-shirt and jungle hat, 55 motorcycles and the sum of Twenty Seven Thousand Four Hundred and Thirty Naira (#27,430.00) as well as food item.

Also, recovered and displayed at the venue of the briefing were 24 AK47 Riffles,2 pump action guns, 1 double barrel gun, 40magazines with quantity 1,798 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 1 locally made pistol, 8 locally made guns and 2 cartridges including 7 Dane guns, 1FN Bayonet, 7 axes, 2 bows and arrows, 1 handcuff, 30 machetes, 6 short knives, wraps of Indian hemp and charms.

Noting that a soldier paid the supreme price and six wounded in the troops’ deadly encounters with bandits in the area, he said that the troops rescued hostages and victims of abductions. For example, on October 30, 2018, one kidnapped Bala Usman, a 26 year old man from Funtua was freed from his abductors in Dumburum Forest. Similarly, 40-year old Alhaji Rabbo Yahaya, from Bako Gebie, Zurmi LGA who was kidnapped on 29 October 2018 was rescued in Dumburum.

He praised the Zamfara State Government, contiguous States and their people for the success of the operation especially the recent decision of the state government to 8500 civilian JTF to improve community watch and intelligence gathering.

‘’It is an indication of the willingness on the part of the good citizens to live in a society devoid of crime. I want to applaud specially the tremendous support from Zamfara State Government especially the recent efforts to recruit 8500 civilian JTF to improve community watch and intelligence gathering,’’ he said.

In Jos, Brig Gen Agim said that the task ahead lay with dislodgement of identified threats in the southern boundary with Taraba State at Wase, Langtang North, Langtang South and Shendam LGAs where armed banditry and other militia groups were terrorising the local inhabitants, adding that the focus of Op Safe Haven regarding successes attained was the total restoration of law and order that would provide an environment of peaceful co-existence in line with the thinking and directives of the CDS.

“Another preventable development that shaped the security environment was the unfortunate killing of Maj Gen IM Alkali in Du District of Jos South LGA in Plateau State by suspected Berom militia which has further deepened the animosity between some affected communities. This mutual suspicion has further heightened the level of antagonism between the 2 communities bearing the livelihood to snowball into violent conflict at the slightest spark’’, he observed.

Ten suspected criminals and 55 others allegedly involved in crimes ranging from Armed Robbery, Kidnapping, Cattle Rustling, Armed Banditry, Child Trafficking, Drug Peddling, Murder, Gun runners, Impersonation, Sara Suka to cult-related activities were arrested, profiled, interrogated and handed over to relevant prosecuting agencies for further actions while some others are still being interrogated.

Arms and ammunition recovered included 3 AK 47 rifles, 11 locally fabricated pistols, 7 locally fabricated rifles, 3 dane guns, 1 locally fabricated Sub-machine gun, 3 Baretta pistols, 1,025 rounds of assorted ammunitions, 17 cartridges, 3 magazines, 2 Bajaj motorcycles, 2 axes, 3 knives, working tools accessories for arms fabrication, military camouflage, Pullover and 2 boots, 2 cell phones and a pair of military woodland camouflage.

In Markurdi, Brig Gen Agim described Op WHIRL STROKE as a special operation made up of Special Forces which he said had made significant success owing to the involvement of Op 777 in destroying remnants of armed militia camps in the area, mopping up illegal arms and creating the conducive atmosphere for the remaining IDPs to return to their ancestral homes in all the 4 Sectors in Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba States through aggressive fighting patrols, clearance operations, raids, cordon and search as well as confidence building patrols.

According to him, ten out of 49 offensive operations conducted by the troops in Benue were against Gana, a notorious criminal and militia men aligned to Him in parts of Ukum, Katsina-Ala and Vandeikya LGAs in October/November 2018.

“Gana’s armed group has been subdued to a large extent though some of his men are currently at large. The result is the remarkable improvement in security along the Sankara axis. The remnants are being tracked and would be apprehended in the course of this operation’’, he said, adding that the intensity of offensive operations in the areas has led to significant improvement in security in Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba States.

The national coordinator of Citizens Initiative for Security Awareness (NISA), Mr Chidi Omeje, believes that the military had never been so engaged in so many sundry internal security operations as we have now, saying it is assailed by armed conflicts of different scope ranging from insurgency, terrorism, kidnapping, armed robbery, cattle rustlers, farmers-herdsmen clashes, pipeline vandalism, electricity cable vandalism, oil theft, illegal bunkering, ritual killing, electoral violence, cultism which he said are threats to national stability.

Corroborating, Dr Emmanuel Onoja, a defence scholar whose thesis was on the ‘Imperative of Military Operations in Combating Civil Disorder in Nigeria’, observed that the Nigerian military has done very well in effectively quelling civil disorder and other forms of armed conflicts in the country thereby moving from the last line of defence to the first line of defence.

He emphasised that he has absolute confidence in the ability of the Nigerian military to effectively combat criminal gangs who pose threats to national security and stability in any part of the country, pointing out that it has the sufficient will, ability and capacity to protect law-abiding citizens against criminality in any part of the country.

He said that the president deserved praise for carefully selecting a crop of focused, highly committed and hardcore service chiefs whose sacrifice, focus, courage, commitment and patriotism anchored on discipline, probity, fresh tactical and strategic approach have added immense value to national unity, peace, growth and development.

A Warri-based defence analyst, Dr. Fynecountry Baribote noted that the emphasis on inter-agency synergy by the CDS as a strategy has helped the military and other security agencies to successfully fight insurgency, terrorism, militancy and other forms of crime and criminality that pose grave threat to national unity, peace and stability in the country.

Morning Devotional For Sunday 25th November

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SUNDAY, 25TH NOVEMBER.

THE EXPRESSION OF HIS VITAL LIFE IN YOU.

…To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:26-27).

Even though listed by many as one of the different religions of the world, Christianity isn’t a religion. Religion describes man’s insatiable desire to reach out to a “God” he believes exists somewhere, and his fear of that “God,” whoever that God might be. Then, his actions portray his thoughts about this “God” whom he’s trying to search out and understand; trying to live his life according to his thinking and perception about this divine being. Christianity, however, is completely different.

In Christianity, man isn’t in search of God; rather, one is brought into a living relationship, union and oneness with God. Christianity is Christ in you, living and working out His righteousness through you. God has given us a triumphant life in Christ Jesus; Christianity is living out that transcendent life of Christ; the unveiling of the living Word in a human life.

Until this becomes a revelation to you, something you know for yourself in a practical way, what you have would be the religiosity of Christian principles, and not Christianity in depth. To be a Christian means you have the very nature of God in your human spirit. It means you’ve become the unveiling of God’s righteousness; the expression and effulgence of His glory. Hallelujah!

The Christian is literally born of God; he’s the Godman; that is, the “mankind” of God; He has and lives the God-life in the earth. In actual sense, he’s a “god.” Psalm 82:6 says, “I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.” We’re children of the Most High, because we’re “...born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:13). This is the reason sickness, disease, or infirmity of the body can’t, and shouldn’t be your master.

You’re a partaker of the divine nature; that nature can’t be corrupted or defiled by sickness, disease or anything that’s of darkness, because it’s the very nature of God. This is Christianity: it’s the outworking of divinity—the Christ-life—in you; the practice of the heavenly in the earth! Hallelujah!

CONFESSION

I’m God’s dwelling place. In Him I live, move and have my being. I’m a conveyor of eternal verities, and a partaker of the divine nature. I have the ability to effect positive changes in my world because the greater One lives in me. Glory to God!

FURTHER STUDY:

1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

1 John 5:11-13 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; [and] he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

25TH NOVEMBER.

I affirm that I am the workmanship of God! I’ve been ordained and chosen of the Father to manifest His glory, wisdom, and excellence in all that I do. I function each day as a burning and shining light! I am an agent of change; therefore, the influence of the devil and his demons are broken in my world. Like Jesus, I saw the devil fall like a lightning and he has no dwelling in my world.

I’ve been given authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and upon all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by means hurt me. Hallelujah! I am not under servitude to any attitude, habit, addiction or lifestyle that is inconsistent with God’s perfect will for me. I allow the Word to have full control over my spirit, soul, and body. I have the ability to make the right judgments and choices.

Everywhere I go, I am making the Name of Lord known, and turning men and women from wickedness unto righteousness; this is my purpose, which I live daily to fulfill. I refuse to allow the inadequacies of others rub-off on me or change my disposition. I am who God says I am; a bright light, shining in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation. With the Word of God, my mind is constantly renewed and I walk in God’s perfect will for me. Glory to God. Hallelujah!

SPEAK IN OTHER TONGUES NOW

• Be bold to say the same things that God has said concerning you in His Word. That is what takes you beyond salvation, to enjoy the benefits of salvation ~ Pastor Chris Oyakhilome.

God bless you.

Boko Haram Abducts 15 Girls In Niger Republic
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 11-24-2018, 10:34 PM - No Replies

Boko Haram gunmen have kidnapped 15 girls overnight in a village near Toumour, southeastern Niger, the local mayor said on Saturday.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, Boukar Mani Orthe, the mayor of the town in Niger’s Diffa region near the border with Nigeria, said about 50 unidentified armed men seized the girls in a village about nine kilometres from the town centre.

Kidnapping of schoolgirls has been a Boko Haram horror mark, since its fighters in 2014 kidnapped more than 200 schoolgirls in Chibok, Borno State, in Nigeria.

It also staged this year, another major kidnap of schoolgirls in Dapchi, Yobe state.
In Mali, French forces said they “put out of action” some 30 Islamist militants, possibly including veteran Malian jihadist leader Amadou Koufa, during a raid in the central Mali region of Mopti.

The French army, which has about 4,500 troops in West Africa battling Islamist militants, did not specify whether the jihadists had all been killed or taken prisoner. The operation took place with air support on Thursday night, it said.

“At this stage of the evaluation of the operation, it appears that about 30 terrorists were put out of action,” the army said in its statement on Friday, adding that Koufa and other prominent militants were probably among them.

Koufa, a radical preacher, inspired the Massina Liberation Front (MLF), a group blamed for a wave of attacks that has shifted Mali’s six-year-old Islamist insurgency from the remote desert north ever closer to its populous south.

This thread Is to show some pictures of how the journey of four years ago came to an end today.
The new Dunamis International Gospel Centre Headquarters popularly known as The Glory Sanctuary in The Lord's Garden is being dedicated to the glory of God today.
Everyone should note that the building is not for show or for competition but a necessity as the church is always over flooded to the road side during their services hence the need for the new auditorium.
The journey started on the 14th of November 2014 after the church was just 18years old. The project started with the Ground breaking ceremony which was officiated by the host's Father in ministry, Bishop David Oyedepo.
Here are some pictures from the ground breaking ceremony and some pictures of overflows from their former headquarter's service where people had to stay in the cold of the night through to the morning worshipping God

157 Soldiers Massacred Same Day Service Chiefs Were At APC Rally - Reno

A tweet just released by Reno Omokri the master of facts Read's : According to @AFP, the killing of soldiers of the 157 Taskforce battalion, Metele occurred on November 18, 2018. Guess what the leadership of our military were doing on that day? While their men were dying, they were attending @Mbuhari’s fraudulent #NextLevel launch #RenosDarts

Source : https://twitter.com/renoomokri/status/1066309670187515904?s=19

A Fact check on Channels TV confirms Reno Omokris assertion that AFP confirmed that attack happened on the 18th of November.

This was how channels tv reported it:
"On Friday night, the Nigerian Army confirmed that there was an attack on Metele on November 18, but described the casualty figures being reported as false and “various footages” in circulation as “old and inaccurate BHT (Boko Haram Terrorist) propaganda videos."

This attempt to deny the facts has sinced backfired thanks to additional facts released by Reno Omokri , New York and AFP.

Reports have it that the military authorities and the Buhari administration are notorious for sweeping such attacks under the carpet by creating a media blackout and hiding the facts which unfortunately failed in this incident.

This is happening days after a young girl of the school was kidnapped and murdered by some ritualist. An IG user tarah_dizurla who shared the video on her page, wrote;

Quote:Sister Of Joy Odama, Murdered CRUTEC Student, Arrested For Blackmailing Men With Their Nude

Blessing Odama 21-year-old sex worker and a 200 Level student of Philosophy, Federal University Nasarawa State, has been arrested for blackmailing her clients using their nude pictures. .
.
According to the suspect who was arrested with her boyfriend, Ibrahim Danladi, who is also a student of the university, she took nude snapshots of her clients in order to blackmail them because they were wicked and gave insignificant money after sex. .
.
Her arrest came almost a year after her sister, Joy, also a 200 Level Mass Communication student of the Cross River State University, CRUTEC, was alleged to have been killed by an Abuja-based businessman, Alhaji Usman Adamu, who invited her to his house.
.
.
Her words: “I was forced to blackmail men because they are wicked. They promised to give good money before sex, but after, they give peanuts.” .
.
The lovers ran into stormy water after one of their victims, Danti, paid the sum of N150k. The lovers later returned, asking for additional N300k. They further threatened to abduct Danti’s wife and children if he didn’t give them the N300k
.
.
Sick to his stomach with fear, Danti wrote a petition to IGP, Ibrahim Idris, detailing his predicament. Idris quickly acted on the petition by instructing IRT operatives to investigate the case and arrest the blackmailers. .
.
The phone used in the blackmail was recovered and over 30 pictures of Unclad men were found on it.

Death Of 100 Soldiers :president Buhari, It's Time To Go!
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 11-24-2018, 03:58 PM - No Replies

Quote:Death of 100 soldiers Tongueresident Buhari, It's Time to Go!

The successive killings of our soldiers by Boko-Haram is a red flag to every Nigerian and here is why. The Islamic state west African Province (ISWAP) an affiliate of ISIS under the leadership of Elbinawi is currently the most deadly terrorist group in Africa and top three in the world.

Please forget Shekau, he is a rabble rouser compared to Elbinawi, Elbinawi apart from being a killer and thief loves money. Shekau has not taken a dime from Nigeria according to account by several people close to the Boko Haram sect. Elbinawi emerged after Buhari came to power and has collected millions of dollars for the Dapchi girls and other abductees.

Majority of Boko-Haram fighters arrested during the previous administration have been released by this administration including their commander's and footsoldiers under the guise of repentance by the Buhari Administration. When I say Buhari has emboldened Boko-Haram in my articles this is what I'm referring to.

Let it be on record that the United States captured some terrorists in Afghanistan 13yrs ago. Those guys are still in detention till date at Guantanamo Bay. Why? Because terrorists do not repent and do not deserve a second chance at life. They will die there (as Nigerians will say).

Here in Nigeria, there is no single Boko-Haram member in detention and none has been caught since 2015. Buhari has released all!

The recent attack on our soldiers in Jili that killed over 200 of them in April and the recent one that killed over 100 is a sign that Boko-Haram is not here to play and we must be very prayerful. As at this morning, ISIS have suffered so much casualty in the middle east that they are already looking for exit routes and they've found a good ally in Nigeria.

The recent video released by BH shows they are not here to play. It shows they've gone up higher in intelligence and equipment which supercedes that of Nigeria. Having a camera man on a war front shows they will never suffer CASUALTY as they came prepared!

At this level, it is important we make it a national responsibility to vote out President Buhari. Our soldiers are dying daily and it's reducing their strength. Nigeria, a county of over 100m people did not have up to 3m soldiers! And we want to win Boko-Haram?

The dwindling numbers of officers commissioned into the Nigerian Army since 2015 is not encouraging, the last recruitment had less than 1000 officers which means Nigerians are no more interested! Let's subtract the officers on special duty and operations in different state of the federation out of the 3 million. We simply have less than 1 million soldiers to protect Nigeria and less than 50,000 in the North East!

At this level all of us are endangered and we must accept that fact. I don't care your level of political divide. President Buhari has failed on Boko-Haram and its time to let him go. Our soldiers were killed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Today is Saturday, the President has not said anything yet. The National Assembly has spoken, Atiku has spoken, he has released a video and granted scholarship. It means Buhari does not give a damn.

Our cashtivists (sorry Activists) that nearly killed Johnathan with criticism where are they today? Tolu Ogunlesi is not aware? Lauretta is not aware? Pastor Tunde Bakare is not aware? Hadiza Bala Usman is not aware? Shame on you all!

Before you come for me, let me ask you, do you have an international passport? Do you have 500k you keep for emergency exit out of Nigeria?? If no, get your PVC and vote out Buhari!

President Buhari, It's time to go.

Quote:The PDP presidential candidate and former vice president, Atiku Abubakar yesterday reacted to the death of 100 Nigerian soldiers in a deadly attack by ISWAP, Boko Haram.

Atiku said:

"I’m deeply saddened by the loss of our soldiers in these attacks and ask for the support and prayers of all Nigerians for our military in this war against ISWAP & Boko Haram."

Atiku Abubakar shared this video on social media where he talked about the attack and death of the Nigerian Soldiers and way forward.

But reacting to the video, Nigerians are divided. While many hailed Atiku for speaking out against the attack even before the presidency, many others blasted him. Some claim he is just reacting for political reasons.

Watch the video HERE of Atiku Abubakar reacting to the death of Nigerian Soldiers killed by Boko Haram Terrorists and see how Nigerians reacted.

2 Mortuary Attendants, 5 Others Arrested Over Missing Corpse

Quote:The Lagos State Police has arrested 2 mortuary attendants and 5 others, over complaints of a missing corpse.

Lagos State Police Commissioner Imohimi Edgal, who paraded the suspects before newsmen at the command headquarters in Ikeja, disclosed that on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018 the Command received a complaint from one Anthony Lawani, younger brother to one Mary Ehinlaiye, now deceased, aged 51 years.

NAN reported that body parts of the deceased were sliced off by yet-to-be identified persons. Investigation by the police, revealed that the corpse was deposited at St. Raphael’s Devine Mercy Specialist Hospital Mortuary along Ijede Road, Ikorodu, Lagos for preservation.

“Based on the complaint, I directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, SCIID, Panti, Yaba to investigate the matter

“However, one Olusesi Owamade, aged 41 years, a mortuary attendant, with the approval of his supervisor, Michael Olusegun, aged 65 years, erroneously released the corpse to another family.

“When the relations of the deceased woman came for the release of the corpse for burial, it was nowhere to be found.

“At this juncture, it dawned on the mortuary attendants that they had released the corpse to the wrong persons.

“To recover the corpse, five grave diggers working at Sabo Cemetery, Ikorodu were contracted by the mortuary attendants to exhume the corpse for onward handover to its owners,” he said.

The Police Boss further disclosed that the suspects who were arrested over the missing corpse, conspired among themselves and dismembered the body of the deceased by cutting off the two wrists and heart for a yet-to-be determined reason.

“Investigation into this case is in progress, while efforts are on to arrest one of the grave diggers named Anifowoshe, who is currently at large.

“The case will be charged to court and case file forwarded to the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice,” he said.

Malabu Oil Scam: UK Court Repatriates $73m To FG

We’ve deposited cash with CBN —Malami

*FG signs new pacts with 6 countries to block looting of funds

By Soni Daniel, Northern Region Editor

Although the Nigerian Government is yet to prosecute and convict many individuals and entities involved in the alleged monumental fraud running into billions of Naira in the controversial Oil Prospecting Lease 245, the United Kingdom has returned the sum of $73 million seized in connection with the fraud to the Nigerian Government.

Fuel Supply: NNPC set to control more than 14% market share Oil However, the name of the individual or the company the cash was recovered from has not been named at the moment, even as the money has been received in Nigeria.

According to a document made available to Saturday Vanguard by the Attorney General of the Federation, the money was part of the questionable proceeds from the sale of OPL 245 by Malabu Oil and Gas Company to ENI/Shell.

The Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, confirmed in the document he made available to Saturday Vanguard that the cash had already been received and paid into the Central Bank of Nigeria.

“The Commercial Court in the UK ordered a pay out of the sum of over $73 million with interest to the Nigerian Government, this being part of the proceeds from the sale of OPL 245 by Malabu Oil and Gas Company to ENI/SHELL.

“The said sum has also been received and deposited with the Central Bank,” the minister said. The repatriation comes as the Federal Government has taken major steps to block the looting of funds into or out of the country by corrupt elements.

Accordingly, the government has signed memoranda of understanding and bilateral agreements with the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Italy to ensure that funds looted to those climes are promptly returned and vice versa.

Malami also said that the government was making international recovery efforts to cover other countries such as the United States, Ireland, Island of Jersey and France.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SATURDAY, 24TH NOVEMBER.

BE GUIDED BY WISDOM.

By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season (Hebrews 11:24-25).

Our opening scripture is very instructive: Moses chose rather to undergo the same oppression meted out to God’s people in Egypt, than to enjoy the pleasures of the world for a little while. That was a decision point in his life, and He was guided by the wisdom of God to make the right choice. He esteemed the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt (Hebrews 11:26).

Moses considered the approval and blessing of God in the reproaches of Christ, a far greater treasure than what the world could offer him. Remember, Egypt here is a type of the world; the world and all that it represents. Moreover, Moses was being trained in the palace—to be the Pharaoh—the most “glamorous” position in the earth at the time. He would have been the Pharaoh had he continued in Egypt. But he didn’t let that influence his decision.

Many times, some Christians long for the world and its pleasures, trying to remain a part of the world from which they’ve been severed or separated. You’re not of this world; you must refuse to allow yourself to be entangled in the darkness and failing systems of the world. Having been brought out of the world into Christ, don’t go from Christ to the world; it’s forbidden.

Moses was erudite in all Egyptian education, but when God needed him, he put all that aside and took up the ministry of being a deliverer of God’s people. Paul did the same thing; he said, “Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ” (Philippians 3:8). So, let the wisdom of God guide you to stay in God’s preordained path for your life.

PRAYER

Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for your wisdom at work in me, for Christ is my wisdom. This wisdom is manifest in all I do, even in the choices I make; I don’t make foolish decisions. Wisdom is heard in my words, and seen in my actions, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Proverbs 4:5-7 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget [it] not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. 6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee. 7 Wisdom [is] the principal thing; [therefore] get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

2 Timothy 3:14-15 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned [them]; 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

24TH NOVEMBER.

I affirm that the Holy Spirit lives in the quarters of my heart; He is the fire and power of my life. His light blazes intensely in my heart, making the Father’s presence real to me, His passion aglow, and His purity aflame in my spirit. Every good and perfect gift is from my Father; and by the Holy Spirit, my spiritual eyes are continually opened to recognize those resources, gifts, and talents the Father has placed at my disposal, so I could be a solution provider, both in my life and in the life of God’s people. I am life-conscious; life works in me! Every fibre of my being, every bone of my body, and every cell of my blood is inundated with divine energy!

I will never be defeated in this life because God is at work in me both to will and to do of His good pleasure. I am alive unto God; for greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. Hallelujah! Grace and peace are multiplied in my life. That grace working in me is the power of promotion, unending success, and an extraordinary life of excellence, victory, and dominion. I take advantage of it now and always. I refuse anything and everything that is inconsistent with the Father’s perfect will for my life. Blessed be God. Hallelujah!

Zimbabwean Man Seeks Divorce Over Inability To Satisfy Wife With Sex
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 11-24-2018, 08:28 AM - No Replies

Quote:A Zimbabwean man, Danmore Matema has gone to court, seeking a divorce from his wife, Jesca Chaza, on the grounds that he is unable to satisfy her.

He told Bulawayo Magistrate Tinashe Tashaya that his wife claimed that he was not man enough for her and could not satisfy her.

Matema also accused Chaza of denying him his conjugal rights and of beating him up whenever he tried to be intimate with her.

He said, “I am customarily married to Jesca Chaza and she’s verbally and physically abusing me. She is in the habit of insulting me with vulgar language in the presence of our six-year-old daughter and saying bad things about my relatives.

“She is also denying me conjugal rights saying I am not man enough and that there are better men than me. She beats me up every time I touch her, even if it’s by mistake. She is also threatening to poison me and even pour hot water on me.

“She has made my life intolerable with her cruel behaviour and as a result, I am no longer interested in the marriage.

However, Jesca disputed the allegations, when she shared her experience in the marriage. She said, “He is lying to the court. For the past five years, we have been staying peacefully. Problems started in December last year when he was no longer buying food and paying school fees for our child.

“That is when he took me back to my parents saying he no longer loves me but my parents refused to welcome me. After my parents had refused to take me back, he started abusing me by forcing me to sleep on the floor. I am currently sleeping on the floor and he sleeps on the bed. He only joins me on the floor whenever he wants sex.”

Police, IPOB Clash In Nnewi, Two Feared Dead

Members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, and officers of the Nigeria Police Force, Nnewi Division, Friday, clashed at the popular Nkwo Nnewi Market.

At least, one police officer and one member of the pro Biafran group were killed in the clash.

Members of the pro Biafra group were at Nnewi to drive home their stance of boycott of the 2019 election in the south east, except a date was fixed for a referendum to determine freedom for the people of the zone.

The protesters numbering over 2,000 stormed the market, with each member waving the Biafran flag, and chanting ‘no referendum, no election’.

The group moved round, telling Igbo people in the market not to participate in the 2019 general election unless the FG heed their demand and conduct referendum.

Trouble, however, started when police operatives arrived the scene in three hilux vans and tried to stop IPOB activities.

Members of the group were said to have first pounced on the police officers, destroying their vans and leaving two officers in the pool of their blood.

I Regret Joining APC, Atiku Reveals
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 11-24-2018, 08:22 AM - No Replies

Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has apologized for joining the groups, who came together to form the All Progressives Congress.

He said the apology had become necessary because of the sufferings Nigerians had been subjected to in the last three and half years from a party he played a role in bringing to power.

Atiku, who spoke on Thursday in Yola, Adamawa State, during a c with residents of Jimeta, described the APC as an assembly of ‘elements’ that came together to defraud the country.

He said the party had flopped in changing the fortunes of Nigerians for good.

He stated, "I lamented being part of the party which never deemed it fit to fulfil all of the promises it made to Nigerians.

“If I had known that the APC would be such a colossal failure and disgrace, I would never had joined the party.

“The APC has failed to fulfill even one of the promises it made to Nigerians. The APC is simply an assembly meant to defraud Nigerians.”

Speaking further, the former Vice-President said that the country would not survive another four years if the APC was returned to power in 2019.

Ahmad Salkida Says ISWAP Behind Attack That Killed Over 100 Nigerian Soldiers
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 11-24-2018, 08:02 AM - Replies (1)

Investigative journalist Ahmad Salkida, who is known to have links to Boko Haram and was once contracted as a mediator between the terrorist group and the Nigerian government, has revealed those behind the attack at the military base which left over 100 Nigerian soldiers dead.

According to Ahmad Salkida, a factional group of the Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, was behind the recent attack that claimed the lives of several military personnel and is set to become the most lethal branch of IS terrorist group in the world.

He further revealed that the factional Boko Haram group, intends to achieve its aim through its current trend of attacks and recruitment.

“#ISWAP in Al-Naba news confirmed that it carried out attacks on a military base in Metele, on 18th and a second one on 19th/20th, when the military went to collect the fallen comrades. In all, the terror group claimed to have killed 100 soldiers.

“If the current trend of recruitments and attacks continues, #ISWAP looks set to be the most lethal branch of #IS in the world. The pace of recruitment today, is almost similar to 2013/14. Today, there is a competition to join Jihadi herd between Nigerians and Francophone youths.

“The current video that is trending online (as pictured here), is not the latest attack in Metele, it is the Zari attack on 30th August and the video was released September 7/8, 2018. Now, the question is, where will #ISWAP or #BokoHaram attack next, because the trend is apparently predictable?” he wrote.

EFCC Chairman, Magu Meets UK Authorities, Begins Diezani’s Extradition Process
User Avatar Forum: News

The acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, has met with National Crime Agency in the United Kingdom to kick-start the process of extraditing a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

The EFCC said in a statement that Magu met with the UK official on Thursday to also discuss the efforts of the commission in the recovery of all ill-gotten assets domiciled in foreign jurisdiction by Nigeria’s Politically Exposed Persons.

“Outside the recovery of assets, the EFCC boss in the course of the high power meeting with officials of the NCA will also present the commission’s position on ways to fast-track the extradition of all PEPs who have found safe havens in foreign jurisdiction,” the statement read in part.

Magu had explained why the anti-graft agency is bent on extraditing all PEPs.

“For instance, speaking on the former minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Deziani Alison-Madueke, whose process of extradition from the UK has commenced, Magu explained that having waited for three years, the Nigerian government believes that it is time to initiate the extradition process,” the statement added.

The EFCC said apart from Diezani, there were several other politically exposed persons who have fled the country 2015 when the current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari came on board in May 2015.

It would be recalled that in 2017, a Federal High Court in Lagos ordered the final forfeiture of N7.6 billion alleged loot recovered by the Commission from the Diezani. The order of final forfeiture to the Federal Government.

Fake Blind Beggar And Her Colleagues Busted By Officials In Anambra. Photos

Some women who parade themselves as blind beggars with children in order to draw sympathy and scam the unsuspecting public, have been arrested in Onitsha, Anambra state.

According to reports, the women use the little children who are being rented for N1,000 per day to beg around the metropolis while pretending to be blind.

It is also claimed that some of the children are victims of human trafficking and don't even know who there parents are.

Read the report below as shared by Facebook user, Chika Ibeneme.

I was shocked to my marrows yesterday when the taskforce team of Anambra Ministry of Women Affairs, Social welfare and Children Development burst into fraud and child trafficking syndicates who parade themselves as beggars. These group of women disguise themselves as blind beggars and perpetuate child trafficking.

The most shocking issue is that most of the children they use for begging are not their children. This woman whose pictures appear above revealed that one Edith who hails from Ebonyi state and is currently at large brings those kids to them every morning for them to rent at 1,000 naira per day.

On closer interaction with those children, the Commissioner in-charge of the Ministry was able to discover that those kids don't even know where their parents are. It is being speculated that these kids are victims of kidnapping and trafficking.

It was also discovered that these group of women camp at Army Barracks Onitsha. However, none of these women are from Anambra State. Most of them are from Ebonyi, Abia, Kogi and Imo states.

There was pandemonium in some parts of Ado-Ekiti on Friday following the spread of a news of a purported attack on two commercial banks by suspected armed robbery.
The alleged robbery which turned out to be a hoax was said to have taken place on two banks located in Ijigbo and Secretariat Road.
Many residents fled in different directions when a security officer allegedly mishandled his rifle by firing some gun shots into the air in Ijigbo area of the town.
Some armed policemen deployed to the area with the intent of quelling the phantom robbery also announced their arrival at the scene by firing gunshots into the air.
The hullabaloo sparked by the gun shots paralyzed traffic, social and economic activities for about 45 minutes.
Anxious residents caught in the web of the robbery scare ran for their dear lives.
Others called their family members, friends, coworkers and well wishers to avoid Ijigbo and Secretariat Road which has the highest concentration of banks to avoid the “trouble spots.”
Messages were also circulated on the social media alleging that the two banks were being attacked simultaneously.
Normalcy was later returned as the culprit who mishandled his firearm has been arrested.

Atiku Warns Buhari Over Releasing ‘repentant’ Boko Haram Terrorists
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 11-23-2018, 02:11 PM - No Replies

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday warned the President Muhammadu Buhari government, to “review its policy of releasing so-called ‘repentant’ terrorists”.

In a statement made available to journalists in Abuja on Thursday, Atiku bemoaned the level of insecurity in the country.

According to the former vice-president, both Muslim and Christian clerics now officiate funerals more than marriages and child dedication.

Atiku called on the Federal Government to take bold steps to end unnecessary deaths, because he was tired of issuing condolences on such deaths.

He said, “I have been travelling all over Nigeria and I meet with both Muslim and Christian clerics who tell me that in the North East and Middle Belt, they now officiate over more funerals than they do marriages and child dedications. This is heartbreaking and we must do something immediately to change the situation.

“Apart from funding, I advise the Federal Government to review its policy of releasing so-called ‘repentant’ terrorists. To think that the government can de-radicalise these individuals in so short a time is wishful thinking.

“Many people, myself included, think that the upsurge in terror activities coming after the release of such detainees is not coincidental.

“Finally, I urge the National Assembly to suo moto, take action to appropriate funds for our military on a fast-track basis. These are desperate times for Nigeria and desperate times call for dedication to duty of all concerned.

“I am tired of issuing condolences for unnecessary deaths. I prefer to make a difference and prevent unnecessary deaths amongst the gallant men and women of our armed forces and the civilian population they took an oath to protect.”

Boko Haram Kidnaps 50 Loggers In Borno
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 11-23-2018, 12:53 PM - No Replies

Boko Haram jihadists abducted around 50 loggers near the northeastern Nigerian town of Gamboru close to the border with Cameroon, civilian militia and residents told AFP Thursday.

The hostages who are mostly from a camp for people displaced by jihadist violence were on Saturday rounded up by fighters loyal to factional leader Abubakar Shekau while collecting wood at Bulakesa village, 25 kilometres (15 miles) from Gamboru in Borno state.

“The men were rounded up and taken away by Boko Haram insurgents and nothing has been heard from them,” militia leader Umar Kachalla said.

“Two of the loggers escaped and returned home and broke the news.

“We don’t have a precise number of those taken but usually the loggers move in a group of more than 50 men,” Kachalla said.

The loggers were encouraged to venture deep into the bush to collect firewood by a recent military operation that pushed the jihadists out of the area, another militia Shehu Mada said.

Last month troops dislodged the militants from the nearby town of Wulgo and surrounding areas following incessant attacks on loggers.

“The general assumption was that the insurgents had left the area only to suddenly appear and encircle the loggers,” Mada said.

Some of the loggers joined the team to collect metals from the shells of vehicles destroyed in the military offensive against the fighters, he said.

“We believe the number of the those abducted exceeds 50,” said Gamboru resident Babagana Musa.

The story was slow to emerge due to limited communications with Gamboru residents.

The area has for several years been without telecom facilities following the destruction of telecom masts in Boko Haram attacks, forcing residents to rely on Cameroon mobile phone networks.

Gamboru loggers have suffered repeated Boko Haram attacks and abductions especially around Wulgo forest which was a known Boko Haram hideout.

In April Boko Haram militants gunned down 18 loggers at the edge of Wulgo forest, 15 kilometres from Gamboru, while returning from collecting wood.

In January at least 31 loggers went missing and were believed to have been abducted by the jihadists near Wulgo, where 10 loggers were killed two weeks earlier.

Bad Road Threatens Completion of N3.5bn Baro River Port
Friday, November 23, 2018  NEW

Despite promise by the past managements of the Nigerian Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) to fix roads linking river ports in the country, Akelicious findings have revealed that bad state of the road leading to the Baro river port, Niger State is threatening the completion of the project.

The complex, which was awarded at N2.5billion while the cargo handling equipment worth about N1.5billion was completed in 2016, is yet to be commissioned.

Also, some cargo handling equipment are yet to be installed due to the bad condition of the road leading to the port.

The former acting Managing Director of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Mr. Danladi Ibrahim said in a chat with journalists recently that the Baro river port Niger state, had been completed and was ready to start operations.

The N3.5 billion Baro River port awarded under the administration of former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan between 2011/12 at a cost of N2.563 billion to Messrs CGGC Global Projects Limited.

However, since the completion, the contractor handling the installation of Cargo handling equipment has not been able to deliver it due to the bad state of the roads.

It was gathered that no one could access the river port by road as it has been cut off by gullies which made the road un motorable even by motorcycles.

For instance, the access road leading to the river port from the Gegu express way in Kogi State is not motorable and requires urgent rehabilitation by the federal government if the project is to be of any economic value to the nation.

The Managing Director of First Index Nigeria Limited, the contractor handling the installation of the Cargo handling equipment at the River Port, Mr. Opeyemi Olabanji explained that they are going through serious challenges because of the deplorable condition of the access road.

He said they cannot move their cranes and other cargoes to the port, noting that the cargo handling equipment are very heavy and the trucks carrying the equipment cannot pass through the bad road.

He, however, hoped that the federal government will see the need to urgently fix the road for the interest of the nation and for evacuation of the handling equipment to the river port.

Olabanji, however, urged the federal government to commence permanent solution to the dilapidated access road if it wants the river port to be in proper use and contribute to the development of the country.

He said: “I commended NIWA for the palliative measures they are putting to make sure the equipment arrives at the river port but emphasis must be made for a lasting solution to the deplorable condition of the road. Baro River Port, which is considered as the flagship port of the Northern part of the country cannot function as it is now.”
A top management staff of NIWA had told newsmen that the port has remained unused because of the bad state of the road.

According to him, “Much fund has been invested in the Baro River Port project running into over N3.5billion. It is embarrassing that the port still remains unused, simply because the major road leading to the port is impassable.”
He, however, urged the federal government to urgently ensure that the road is captured in the 2019 budget of the country to allow the river port to be put in proper use and halt the deterioration.

When contacted, the General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Tayo Fadile confirmed that the River Port has been completed in 2016 but has become un accessible due to the bad state of the road.

Specifically, he said:”The Baro River Port has been completed for two years running now and the river port itself has continue to deteriorate due to lack of use of the port complex.”

Presidency Explains Delays in Presentation of 2019 Budget
Friday, November 23, 2018  politics

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang, said in Abuja that the Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper which are to form the basis for presenting the budget which were presented by the Executive to the National Assembly are yet to be approved by the legislature.

She said: “The president has transmitted to the National Assembly, the request for the approval of the MTEF and the approval of the Fiscal Strategy Paper. It is the MTEF that set out the budget parameters for the benchmark of oil, the exchange rate, the money projected to be realised from solid minerals, internal revenue from oil, and borrowings. It is this that enables you to deal with budget projections. That document is pending before the legislature,” she said.

Continuing, she said, “ordinarily we should present the budget but we just felt that the legislature should first pass the MTEF/FSP so that we can use it as benchmark, but since the legislature is still working on the document, we are going to use the parameters that were used in what we submitted as the budget benchmark of oil, exchange rate and other sources of revenue as submitted to prepare the budget.

Enang expressed optimism that the executive will work with the legislature when they eventually pass the MTEF/FSP, saying that was where they were on the budget, but that every necessary step has been taken by the executive for the presentation of the document.

Shedding more light on the 2019 budget, the SSA declared that “in presenting the 2019 budget, we would have to take account of the level of the implementation of the 2018 budget so that we would know what we are going to project for next year’s budget.

“If the money you seek to realise to fund this year’s budget came a little bit behind the time you expected, you are expected to take care of few of these things so that you know what to project for next year.

“When President Muhammadu Buhari assented to the 2018 budget, he had reservations but after having understanding with the legislature, he sent in amendments and asked for virement. That is still being awaited, it has not been done. He has also sent in request for certain other funds for other agencies from virement which is still pending. He sent in requests for loan for approval of external finances through euro bond and other windows. That has just been approved few weeks ago. They are in the process of raising money to fund the budget.”

Analysts at Cordros Capital Limited said the absence of a positive catalyst, as well as brewing political concerns, we guide investors to trade cautiously in the short-to-medium term.

“However, stable macroeconomic fundamentals remain supportive of recovery in the long-term,” they said.

Market operators said some investors are reacting to the nine months results of CHI Plc and plans to inject fresh capital into its operations.

CHI Plc will hold its extraordinary general meeting (EGM) on 28th November 2018 in Lagos where directors will get formal approval of shareholders

approve additional capital raise through private placement of 1.130 billion shares at the price of 65 Kobo per share. This private placement will bring in an additional N734.5 million to the coffers of the company.

The company said the private placement is next in the series of proactive efforts of the board and management to boost the working capital of the company and adequately position it as a leading player in the underwriting of big ticket insurance transactions.

The Managing Director of the company, Mr. Eddie Efekoha has already expressed optimism of a very successful outing at EGM as shareholders of the company have often been delighted with the regular dividend payments over the years.

Out of 10 financial years that the company has been quoted on the NSE, it has paid out dividends seven times amounting to a total of N1.22 billion.

The deployment of capital raised during the rights issue is impacting positively as shown in the nine months ended September 30, 2018.

Efekoha said future plans of the company includes broadening its product offerings to take advantage of the on-going market development initiatives of the industry regulator and strengthening its technology in order to deepen its footprints in the retail market whilst delighting its existing corporate customers.

The video of the incident, which has gone viral, shows the unidentified child lying in the gap between the platform and tracks even as a train passes over her.   Presidency- We’ll Teach Nursery School Pupils Software Development
User Avatar Forum: News

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said that the Federal Government will change the educational curriculum in
such a way that will enable pre - primary school pupils to learn software development and coding .
Osinbajo said this during the 50th National Annual Conference of the Chartered Institute of Personnel
Management of Nigeria held in Abuja recently.
Speaking at the event with the theme, ‘Stand Out ’, the Vice President said that many countries across the world had begun to shift focus from natural to human resources development . He said that any youth , who lacked Information and Communication Technology skills and knowledge , would become unemployable in the future , stressing that this had informed the Federal Government ’s decision to infuse educational development in its Economic Recovery and Growth Plan.
Osinbajo said, “ The focus on primary and secondary education is on employability skills, especially technology. So our focus is on teaching young people from the primary, even pre- primary , school to use all the new techniques, especially code writing skills and software writing skills.
“ The new technologies that are developing everything we are seeing today clearly show that anyone in the coming generation will be left behind, if they are not equipped with the knowledge of cutting edge of technology or with a sound knowledge of technology , at least. We believe that our educational system must incorporate that , which is why , with the new curriculum , a lot of attention is focused on science , technology , engineering and mathematics.”
“ For a country like Nigeria , which is highly dependent on oil, we need to remind our people that oil is a depleting asset. The country ’ s large population, especially our young ones, is where its strength truly lies .”

ASUU Rejects FG Negotiation Team, Says Strike Continues
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Quote:ASUU Gives Reason for Rejecting Babalakin, Says Strike Continues

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said that the ongoing strike by the union will continue until the federal government resolve all the issues in contention.

It also said it has rejected Babalakin who led the FG negotiation team.

This stance is coming as the Union maintained that the first meeting held with the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr Chris Ngige has yet to go into substantive issues which led to the strike.

While speaking to newsmen after the Congress of the Union, chairman ASUU, University of Ibadan, Dr Deji Omole said ASUU members will not allow the ruling elite to destroy the heritage of the poor which is qualitative public varsity education.

According to Omole, Wale Babalakin who is the leader of Federal Government team is being rejected by the Union because he is an interested party pursuing a private university license and will do everything to jeopardize public education funding.

Omole noted that a situation whereby two members in the FG team are pursuing their private university licenses indicate they will not favour funding of public education.

The ASUU boss maintained that the three-week old ASUU strike is borne out of genuine and patriotic commitment to ensure a better future for children of the masses and that of Nigeria.

He therefore dismissed the allegation being bandied by the government that the strike was political.
“How can our strike be political when there are matters that you as government signed into and you failed to fulfill your promises? To us, it is the Federal government that is being political with the truth by becoming untrustworthy.

“How can the President and his Vice be asking Nigerian universities to become one of the leading universities of the world without making the same commitments responsive and responsible governments in the world are making to Education? Our leadership have shown consistent disrespect for agreements and this is why they can no longer be trusted by our Union.”
ASUU had declared total, indefinite and comprehensive strike over failure of the Buhari-led federal government to fulfill the content of the Memorandum of Action it signed with the Union in 2017 bothering on revitalisation and funding of universities, unpaid accumulated earned academic allowances, release of University staff pension company license among other issues.

Unauthorized Withdrawal Of NLNG Dividends: NNPC Insists On Full Disclosure
User Avatar Forum: Oil/Gas
Posted by: Edoman - 11-23-2018, 11:40 AM - No Replies

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has offered to provide details of the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Dividends Account from 1999 till date to give the Senate and the general public a comprehensive insight into the operations of the account.

Group Managing Director of NNPC, Dr. Maikanti Baru, stated this at the hearing of Senate Committee on Gas which has been mandated to probe the alleged unauthorized disbursement from the account to support importation of petroleum products to avert scarcity.

The GMD who was represented by the corporation’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Mr. Isiaka Abdulrasaq, in his presentation at the hearing Thursday in Abuja, insisted that there was need to take a holistic look at the NLNG Dividends Account from inception rather than a limited view from 2015 as requested by the Senate Committee.

He said the corporation was ready to provide details of operations of the account in terms of revenues and withdrawal mandates form 1999 till date.

The GMD also informed that the fuel supply situation in the country was very robust with about 2.2 billion liters of fuel in stock, representing over 45-day sufficiency.

In his response, Chairman Senate Committee on Gas, Senator Bassey Akpan, said the committee’s terms of reference mandated it to look at the operations of the account from 2015 till date.

He, however, added that should the NNPC decide to provide details from 1999 till date, it was welcomed.

The Senate committee adjourned the hearing to 4th December, 2018, with a mandate to NNPC and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to provide the details of operations of the NLNG Dividend Account before the end of November.

Stop Hiding Under Religion, Ethnicity, Sultan Tells Politicians
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 11-23-2018, 11:39 AM - No Replies

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has called on politicians to stop using religion and ethnicity as a pretext to perpetrate evil.

According to the royal father, Nigerians should vote for people due to their good track records, and not their faith, adding that it is the only sure way the country can move forward.

Speaking at a programme organised by the International Centre for Interfaith Peace and Harmony (ICIPH) for Muslims/Christians Leaders, tagged: “Working towards a credible, free, fair and peaceful elections in Nigeria in 2019,” the Sultan, who is the co-chairman of the organisation alongside Rev Benebe Fubara Fubara- Manuel, said politicians must stop manipulating their followers with religion and ethnicity.

Sultan said if Nigeria must move forward, the people must not consider faith as the basis for deciding who to vote for in the 2019 general elections.

“Politicians must stop hiding under religion and ethnicity. Nigerians must vote for track records and not faith,” he said.

According to him, there is no fight between Christianity and Islam; therefore, adherents must not reflect such in their choices during the 2019 general elections.

Represented by the Etsu Nupe, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, Sultan Abubakar said religious leaders must join hands in preaching against violence before, during and after the elections in order to enhance peaceful coexistence.

Sultan who warned that the 2019 general elections should not be a basis for fighting between adherents of Islam and Christianity, calling on religious leaders in the country to preach peace.

The traditional ruler noted that there might be occasional misunderstanding between Muslims and Christians, but adherents of Christianity and Islam should not fight because of their faiths.

“We must speak the truth. Everything is not okay in Nigeria. Let’s stop hiding under religion and ethnicity. Christianity and Islam are not fighting.

“But maybe there is disagreement between Muslims and Christians, we must try and fish out extremist in our midst. Though, you cannot completely fish out the bad eggs from the society but we must continue to do our part in order to ensure a peaceful country,” Sultan said.

According to the religious leader, “No society is made up of 100 percent saints. We have our problems and challenges. But we should collectively try and overcome them. As leaders, we must try and work for peace. No problem in this world defies solution unless we are not honest. If not, we will overcome the problems.”

The monarch urged religious leaders to tell their followers that despite the challenges, both adherents belong to one God Almighty but choose to worship Him in different ways.

On the killing of innocent people in the name of religion, the Sultan said such people are misguided.

“Some people have wrong notion about Jihad. You cannot kill people pretending to be fighting for God. You are simply deceiving yourself. Jihad does not entail that. God did not create you to fight for Him,” he said.

The Sultan further advised politicians to abide by the rules of the game by carrying out issues-based campaigns.

On his part, the president, Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN), and co-chairman of the group, Most Rev Fubara Fabura-Manuel, called for prayers as the country approaches the 2019 general elections.

“Let us keep praying for peaceful coexistence, unity, free, fair and credible elections in our country,” Fubara said, noting that people have suffered in one form of crisis or the other and are now living in hardship that seems to have no end.

“Let us pray for the grace to see every human being as a child of God, regardless of race, language or culture. Let us pray to the Lord for the strength to teach our children how to resolve differences non-violently and respectfully, and the courage to model it in our own behaviour,” Fubara said.

Morning Devotional For Friday 23rd November
User Avatar Forum: Daily Devotions

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

FRIDAY, 23RD NOVEMBER.

BEWARE OF FAMILIAR VOICES.

And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers (John 10:4-5).

Oftentimes, some people hear voices that tell them what to do or about what they’re doing; salvoes of thoughts bombard their minds, especially when they’re on the verge of making very important life-decisions. As a Christian, it’s important that you judge the thoughts and voices you hear with the Word, even when such voices are “familiar voices.”

That the voice you heard, or are hearing, is a familiar one doesn’t necessarily mean it’s God-sent to you. So, be wise, and know the difference between the voice that God sent to you and the voice of a stranger. A stranger will bring you a different message and lead you in the wrong path (See Deuteronomy 13:1-3).

Many times, people wish and hope that a stranger would confirm God’s message to them, thinking it’s more supernatural or spectacular when someone they’ve never known confirms God’s Word to them. But that’s not God’s way of doing things. God is most likely to send to you the one you’ve known, to confirm His Word to your spirit, not the one that you’ve never known. Therefore, always be sure that the voice you’re harkening to or that’s leading you, and confirming your thoughts and prophecy, is the voice of God, or the voice of the one He’s sent to you

There’s no true child of God that wouldn’t know or recognise the voice of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27). In our opening scripture, He said, “And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers” (John 10:5). The problem with many is that they ignore His voice. Listen for God’s voice and direction in His Word, because He’ll speak to you through His Word, and by the Holy Spirit.

PRAYER

Thank you, heavenly Father, for the privilege to be taught and instructed in, and by, your Word. Your Word is my guiding light and the reservoir from which I make choices and decisions. I’m sensitive to the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit, as I meditate on the Word, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Psalm 16:7 TLB I will bless the Lord who counsels me; he gives me wisdom in the night. He tells me what to do.

Isaiah 30:21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This [is] the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

John 10:27-28 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any [man] pluck them out of my hand.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

23RD NOVEMBER.

I affirm that my faith is alive and producing results. I am full of life and the work of God is prospering in my hands. I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation.

My spirit is in sync with God’s Spirit and I know the next step to take. Christ, the Anointed One and His anointing, live in me. All that the anointing represents; His life, power, glory, wisdom, righteousness, and grace, are expressed in and through me! Christ in me is my confidence for a glorious, prosperous and victorious life. My heart is stirred today and always by the Word of God to gain the right inspiration! My mind is anointed to see and accept possibilities.

I am energized and aglow in my spirit to impact the world of my time, through supernatural ideas inspired in me by the Holy Spirit. I function with the ability of the Spirit always, not just in my desire and readiness to start up any endeavour, but also in bringing them to excellent fruition. I am assured of a life of honour, dignity, and glory because I apply diligence in every area of life. I am building my faith strong, fortifying it to achieve greater feats for God’s glory. Blessed be God. Hallelujah!

"Buhari Must Go" - Atiku Tells Cheering Adamawa Supporters
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Quote:The Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has told his supporters to vote out President Muhammadu Buhari and other people in the present federal government who he said have caused so much suffering for the country.

Atiku spoke in his home state, Adamawa, at a Youth Endorsement and Road Show programme organised for him by one of his support groups, Atiku/Obi Vanguard for Good Governance, which urged him to fight hard and defeat Buhari in the 2019 elections.

Atiku who personally attended the event Wednesday night at the Lamido Cinema in Jimeta, Yola, said Buhari had failed the country in too many ways and the youths had it as their duty to vote him out. He chanted as the supporters cheered, “Buhari must go! Buhari must go!”

He reiterated his commitment to high participation of youths and women in his government should he win election and become president, specifying that youths would get 40 percent participation and women 30 percent.

Earlier in his address, the Coordinator of Atiku Obi Vanguard for Good Governance, Bar Leader Teneka, said so many negative things had happened since Buhari became president that he ought to be voted out.

“It is no longer news that our country has been designated world extreme poverty capital. And we’ve been declared one of the most dangerous countries to be born in. It is also no longer news that massive and unabated corruption continues to fester. We are more divided as a country now than we have ever been,” Teneka said, urging his fellow youths to rally for Atiku and ensure his election as the next president.

Boko Haram Kills 70 Soldiers In Metele, Borno State - Premium Times

HOW BOKO HARAM KILLED OVER SOLDIERS IN METELE ATTACK - SURVIVOR

A Nigerian soldier who survived the deadly attack on a military base in the northern part of Borno State on Monday said they suffered a heavy casualty due to lack of adequate weapons.

The soldier, who managed to escape the attack alongside other injured troops, said at least 70 soldiers died in the attack.

He said the corpses of the slain Nigerian soldiers are yet to be evacuated, days after Boko Haram took advantage of their lack of munitions, and dealt them a devastating defeat.

The attack at Metele village in Guzamala local government area of the state happened on Monday evening.

PREMIUM TIMES broke the story on Tuesday detailing how rampaging Boko Haram insurgents overran a Nigerian Army battalion in Borno State on Sunday, killing the unit’s commander and dozens of soldiers.

Military sources told PREMIUM TIMES that large cache of arms, ammunition, and military equipment were carted away by Boko Haram fighters during the attack on 157 Task Force Battalion in Metele, Guzamala Local Government Area, at about 6:00 p.m.

Security analysts described the attack as a huge setback for government forces trying to push terrorists further out of Nigeria’s north-eastern flank.

The attack came amidst rising fears for the fate of the troops from the base, which has suffered several attacks in recent past.

PREMIUM TIMES reported on Monday that there were efforts being made to evacuate corpses of the fallen soldiers on Tuesday morning.

But according to some of the soldiers who survived the attack, the move to evacuate the littering corpses was thwarted by the Boko Haram fighters who held their ground and forced the soldiers to abandon the mission.

How Metele was attacked
According to the soldier who survived the attack, their location was invaded after Boko Haram allegedly issued a threat letter last Friday that it would soon take over four strategic military locations around the Lake Chad region.

PREMIUM TIMES has not been able to see or confirm any copy of the threat letter mentioned by the military sources.

“The attack came at about 6pm on Monday evening”, said the soldier.

“When the soldier on top of the observation post alerted that a large number of Boko Haram fighters were advancing, we all got alarmed as we took cover and waited within the base in Metele.

“The fight did not last for more than 45 minutes; but it was bloody because the Boko Haram fighters had more armament advantage that the soldiers.

“When we realised the fight would be against us, we decided to retreat from the camp, but it was rather too late. The camp was surrounded with barbed wire, and the enemy fire was coming from the direction of the entrance. We were like surrounded.

“One of the drivers of the gun trucks decided to push through the barbed wire so that other vehicles could follow and escape, but the truck got stuck, that was how many of our soldiers in other vehicles and those on foot were massacred.

“Those that managed to escape with injuries made it on foot through Cross-Kauwa to Monguno where they boarded commercial vehicles, some even sat in the booth of the Golf cars to get to Maiduguri.

“The Boko Haram made away with about seven gun trucks of the Nigeria army.

The senior non-commissioned military source said no fewer than 70 soldiers were killed while many others who were outgunned by the Boko Haram fighters had to flee.

The soldier, who claimed to have made it to Maiduguri on foot after escaping the heated battle, said an attempt to return to the battlefield to evacuate the bodies of the fallen heroes was thwarted by another attack from the insurgents.

The soldier, who pleaded strict anonymity in this report, informed PREMIUM TIMES that troops in the field are still facing serious challenges of inadequate ammunition and motivation.

The soldier said the deployed team that went to evacuate the bodies of the soldiers could only pick about five corpses before they suffered yet another ambush attack from Boko Haram fighters, forcing them to abandon the mission and fled.

“Up till yesterday, Wednesday, the evacuation of the corpses have not been completed, to the best of my knowledge,” he said.

The source said troops have been recording death of many soldiers almost on a daily basis as Boko Haram sustained attacks on military formations.

“We need the world to hear how we are being sent to slaughter as though our lives don’t matter,” he said.

It could be recalled that on August 12, a group of soldiers stationed at the Maiduguri International Airport staged what seemed a mutiny following a protest over military authority’s move to redeploy them to the frontline.

The soldiers insisted that the redeployment would put them in danger following the fact that those deployed earlier suffered serious casualty due to inadequate arms and ammunition.

The military command in Maiduguri dispelled the claims of the soldiers and some of the revolting soldiers were later court-martialled.

The source to this report said despite the protest and the subsequent court-martial, some of the soldiers that were deployed still suffered the fate that befell their colleagues.

“Some few weeks ago, about 75 of us from our own unit here in Maiduguri were deployed to the front line and it took the grace of God for about 40 of us to return alive.

“When we returned and gave our complaint, we were asked to go back again to Metele, an area near Kangarwa forest, and we have been there for about three weeks now fighting a defensive battle.

“We beg the Nigerian media to help us by echoing out our muffled voices. The children of poor Nigerians have been turned into chicken meant for easy sacrifices by our commanders.

“We are being killed on daily basis as if our lives don’t matter. Of course as soldiers we signed to lay down our lives in defence of this country, but certainly not in the manner we are being presented for slaughter without dignity. A soldier should die fitting and not being chased or overpowered.

“Our morale has been dampened so badly – not only because we are not given our due allowances; but for the fact that we have been outgunned by the Boko Haram.

“The situation has gone so bad that it has gotten to a stage that soldiers would be rushing to pack up their camps and flee upon hearing the news that Boko Haram fighters are advancing.

“We have suddenly lost our spirit of launching attacks because of lack of resources to prosecute the battle. Many of us are ready to do our best, but there has been no requisite support from those sending us out there.

“As I am talking to you now, we have about 70 corpses of soldiers littering the battleground in Metele and when we went to evacuate them on Monday, the Boko Haram gunmen came out in large numbers from all angles – so we had to abandon the corpses after just picking five of them. We left most of the corpses there as I am talking to you now.

“The media need to give this clear picture to the world – Nigerians need to know what we are facing here in the battlefield. Only some of us that escaped managed to get to Maiduguri on Tuesday, but many others are yet to surface.

“The fact of the matter is that we still have a very large number of Boko Haram terrorists out there. As far as the Nigerian army is concerned, it will take more than ten years to chase out Boko Haram from our hinterlands, without the help of foreign forces.

“We can only brag that we can defeat them; but in reality, we lack the capacity to do so, given the kind of approach we accord to prosecuting the war.”

Metele is, for now, regarded as one of the strongholds of Boko Haram in the northern part of Borno State.

It could be recalled that it was in Metele that about 18 Nigeria soldiers were killed and about 151 soldiers and six officered were declared missing when insurgents raided an outpost of 157 Battalion on October 8.

The military had reported that it had killed at least 76 Boko Haram fighters in Metele while giving seven soldiers dead and 16 injured as the official figures of casualties recorded during the attack no troops’ location.

The military, both at the army headquarters, Abuja and at the theatre command in Maiduguri, have not responded to text messages sent to them by PREMIUM TIMES for this report.

Next Level Logo: Rex Institute Vows To Sue Buhari, APC For "Stealing" Logo
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 11-22-2018, 08:16 PM - No Replies

President Muhammadu Buhari and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), have been asked to within seven days desist from using Next Level logo allegedly stolen from Rex Institute.

The order was handed to President Buhari and his ruling APC party, by Rex Institute, whose logo was allegedly stolen.
Supporters of Buhari had unveiled Next Level as the campaign logo and slogan for his re-election campaign on Sunday.
Soon after the unveiling of the logo at the launch of Buhari 2019 campaign, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, had accused the President and his campaign organization of plagiarising the logo of a thesis authored by Kelly Costner, an Associate Professor of Winthrop University in South Carolina, USA.

Responding through a letter dated November 19, 2018 and addressed to the National Legal Adviser at 40 Blantyre Cres. Wuse 2 Abuja Nigeria, the institute vowed to drag Nigeria President and his party to court should they not respond to their order.

“Dear Sir Without prejudice, it has come to our attention that the All Progressives Congress Party of Nigeria has stolen the intellectual property right of our client, The Rex Institute.

“As you can see from the attached visuals, the logo your Party has just unveiled and which is being promoted by the Leader of the Party and the President of Nigeria on his Twitter feed is a direct copy of that of our client, with just a small colour change in the arrow.
“However, every other element from the name, font and design is identical. In fact, in my entire legal career, I have never seen such a blatant piece of plagiarism.

“We, therefore, demand that you immediately cease and desist in any use of the logo and make every effort to recall and destroy all materials which have already been disseminated.

“Failure to do so within 7 days will leave our client with no other option but to seek full legal redress via the Nigerian Courts. I look forward to your immediate reply. Yours faithfully Sue Lavache Attorney at Law,” the letter read.

The Only Thing PDP Is Good At Is ‘ Share The Money ’ – Oshiomhole
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 11-22-2018, 08:15 PM - No Replies

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress ( APC) , Adams Oshiomhole , on Wednesday, took a swipe at the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP), saying that the only integrity they have is the reputation of share the money .
Oshiomhole spoke when he inaugurated the 42- man National Peace and Reconciliation Committee at the party secretariat , in Abuja , emphasising that only Nigerians with short memories can compare the APC and the PDP.
The former governor of Edo State expressed surprise that the attack from certain aggrieved persons in the APC did not have the effect the opposition expected .
Extolling the committee members , Oshiomhole said , “ On behalf of the NWC , I want to appreciate each and every one of you who , despite your very crowded schedule as governors , senators, ministers, at short notice , honoured us by accepting your appointment to serve in this committee we set up your help us as a party find in - house solution to our problems by restoring peace , enduring internal unity and harmony within the APC family .
“We have gone through very crucial state in the processes leading to the next presidential, National Assembly, governorship and State Assembly elections . I think by my own record , of the 36 states and the FCT , we have done exceedingly well.
“It is impossible even for the most gifted child to score 100 per cent in every subject and the more questions you have to answer, the higher your chances of missing some of them .
“One thing I learnt early in life in trying to lead people of equal is that once you become the chairman of a logo association , you automatically become the logo dustbin to which everybody empties everything that is dirty.
“I have had my own unfair share of people , who in anger , chose to attack me as a person, but unfortunately it does not coincide with what the opposition , the PDP had always wanted.
“Bringing on board my past reputation was by itself a challenge to the PDP that has no reputation.
“If they had any, it is only the reputation of share the money . They shared it as recklessly as they could and these are no longer in the realm of speculation because they are the subject of litigation in the courts across the country.
“Four years ago , around this time , we were in opposition and the value of our tickets , if we have a political market where tickets are awaited, were certainly not near they are today.
“Only men of conviction and of vision can subscribe contesting election on our platform .
“I believe that our collective verdict under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, who is our presidential candidate have all worked hard in the last four years.
“We have not solved all the problems of Nigeria but those who have good memories will have no difficulty in comparing the previous 16 years of the PDP rule with the three and half years of the APC.
“Our people voted for change because they want to change the way the country is managed , the way governance is approached, eliminate corruption in the process of governance and reconcile efforts with rewards and eliminate the trend where people who work hard earn very little while those who have no business address are the billionaires .
“We wanted to address the situation where a Nigerian is buying a private jet every other week even without any business address.

According to the report, Mr Odey who is a teacher at the Government Primary School, Obudu tried to penetrate his victim whom is reported to be 10 years of age, a primary four pupil in the same school.

Odey is reported to have gone to the girl’s residence on Friday morning, telling her parents he wants to take her for a sporting event, and that since the girl (name withheld) was a sport-like type, she would be best.

Calabar Reporters notes further that, Odey after taking the girl to school, on their way back, took her to a farm behind the General Hospital in Obudu where he forcefully penetrated her.

It was about past ten, initially, she didn’t want to go to school because we have some activities in the house, so on reaching there, the teacher took her there and then brought her back.   Segun Sowunmi And Rotimi Amaechi Clash At Presidential Debate
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 11-22-2018, 06:34 PM - No Replies

Quote:by Mayowa Tijani

Segun Sowunmi, spokesperson of the Atiku Campaign Organisation, and Rotimi Amaechi, minister of transport, had a clash of words at the first 2019 presidential debate.

The debate, which was hosted by The Osasu Show and held at NAF Conference Centre and Suites, had Sowunmi as the representative Atiku Abubakar, while President Muhammadu Buhari sent no one.

Speaking on the plans of the Atiku campaign as raised by Sowunmi, Amaechi, who was not on the debate panel, raised up his hands to ask questions from the Peoples Democratic Party representative.
He said the Atiku-Obasanjo led a privatisation of Nigeria’s assets to their cronies.

“The first question is that they privatised, to who? Who did they privatise to? To themselves, and they are coming back. Then I was a young man, I didn’t have money to buy,” Amaechi said.

“Question number two, let me thank the woman who said power had improved. Under them, with $16 billion, we had 3,000 megawatts of power, now we have 7,000.

“Three, and finally, on railways, we all go to Kaduna. We are talking about railway, who has the railway? Our government right?”.

Responding to Amaechi, Sowunmi said Amaechi was speaking trash, rather than sticking to an issue-based campaign.

“An eight-year governor of a state in PDP comes to public space, riding on the alleged integrity of just President Muhammadu Buhari, and speaking trash to the people, what exactly is this,” Sowunmi said.

“Now, we had assumed, we had signed up to an issue-based campaign, and we just want to beg the operators of this present government to stick to the issues.

“We speak about opening up the economy to make sure that those who have the competencies to drive growth must be given the enabling environment to create value, and our people can plug in.”

Sowunmi went on to speak to some of the issues regarding the campaign, on behalf of his principal, saying the government should stick to regulation and let those with capacities run businesses.

Facebook user shared this video and captioned:

"These two women were beaten and battered by police officers attached to Lafenwa Divisional Police Headquarters, Lafenwa, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria, last week Thursday while coming from the market where they do their buying and selling. The most unfortunate aspect of this dehumanizing acts was that instead of the DPO to investigate the matter and take appropriate actions again the animals among his men, he wanted to sweep the whole thing under the carpet by giving them N3,000 to go and take care of themselves. Some how, the women got in touch with a renounced journalist (name withheld) and the whole issue is now made public.

We implore the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Zonal Commander, Zone 2 and the Inspector General of Police to use their offices to put these police officers to book and get these women good medical care and financial compensation for losses they have incurred as a result of not being able to go to the market for their trading activities since the time this sad and inhuman incident occurred.

Please help rebroadcast till it gets to the CP, Ogun State, Zone 2 Zonal Commander and the IGP.

Thank you.
