Others are 541 cartons of Original chest and lung tablets; 211 cartons of Analgin Injection; 238 cartons of Really Extra Diclofenac; 158 cartons of Double actions Labimol Diclogenac potassium capsules.

He said: “Within a week, because of the motivations we just got which made some impact, we have intercepted six cars worth over N242 million at various border points and various car mart.

“The vehicles are Toyota Tacoma worth N47.8 million, Lexus ES 350 at N16.5 million, Toyota Highlander worth N47.5 million and another Lexus ES RX 350L at N34 million. Other vehicles are Toyota Hilux with Duty Paid value of N41.6 million and Toyota Highlander at N54.5million.” Aliyu, however, said some of the vehicles are on detention pending when the owners present documents of payment of customs duties.

“They are on detention pending the provision of proper documents. We detain them, when you bring your proper documents we release it, but if you don’t, we seize it. Note that when we flag you we ask for documents and if you provide, you are allowed to go. There are procedures and that’s why they are under detention,” he added.

Much ado about foreign airlines’multiple entry points

 July 16, 2019

[url=https://thenationonlineng.net/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Allen-Onyema.jpg]

The multiple entry points granted foreign carriers by government is generating ripples in the sector. If unchecked, the ‘unbridled invasion policy may sound the death knell of struggling indigenous carriers. According to experts, a review of the policy will save local carriers, curb capital flight and address lopsidedness in Nigeria’s bilateral air services agreement, KELVIN OSA OKUNBOR reports.

A coalition to stop the Federal Government from granting multiple entry points to foreign airlines is gathering momentum.

The coalition, comprising industry groups, experts, members of the National Assembly, airlines’ association and other stakeholders, is clamouring for a review of the policy given the perceived lopsidedness in bilateral air services agreement (BASA) among Nigeria and over 80 countries.

The lopsided air treaties, according to the group, include Multiple Entry Points Policy granted foreign carriers; Dual Designation Agreement and Open Skies Agreement.

Multiple entry by foreign carriers into the country, experts argue, is not only depriviang indigenous carriers potential passengers traffic on such routes, but denying  them opportunities to sign interline deals  to distribute such  passengers.

Nigeria is the only country in Africa that grants foreign carriers unfettered access into its domestic market.

Despite its supposed market potential, Nigeria yearly loses over $5.6 billion to remittances by foreign carriers on sale of tickets by over 30 airlines that operate in her airspace.

Experts say such humongous sum could be retained locally if the government puts in place protectionist policies  for her carriers; as is the case in other countries.

One of the measures, experts say the government can exploit to  balance the lopsidedness in its agreements is designation of strong flag carriers to reciprocate flights operations on routes flown by foreign carriers.

Continuous implementation of these agreements, experts say, will undermine the growth of the domestic transport market.

Of the over 30 foreign carriers that fly into Nigeria British Airways,  Virgin Atlantic Airways,  Lufthansa German Airlines, Air France / KLM;  Emirates Airlines, Qatar Airways; Etihad Airways,  Turkish Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines, Egypt Air, South African Airways, RwandAir and Kenya Airways enjoy multiple entry points into Nigeria.

Speaking in a recent interview,  Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Director-General Captain Muktar Usman said the government was doing its best to empower domestic carriers to reciprocate the bilateral air pacts it signed with many countries, but there was need for the indigenous carriers to demonstrate capability on the routes.

He said yearly, Nigeria loses over $5.6 billion which is for 50 per cent of the over $10 billion taken way from Africa annually by foreign airlines.

Usman said Nigerian carriers  have not been able to meet the needs of the market. He  said: ”We have lost a lot and we have been losing a lot by not taking advantage of those bilateral air service agreements because we do not have strong, viable carriers that will be able to effectively compete with foreign airlines.”

Some Nigerian carriers designated by government in some international routes including  Arik Air; Medview Airlines; AeroContractors; DANA Air; Air Peace, Overland Airways do not enjoy multiple entry privileges in the countries that are approved to fly into.

In an interview, Chairman of Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) Captain Nogie Meggison urged the government to reconsider granting approval for multiple entry points to foreign carriers, saying the arrangement is killing indigenous airlines.

Industry critic and Chief Executive Officer, Centurion Securities, Group Captain John Ojikutu (rtd), says granting multiple entry with an increase of frequencies around the country to foreign airlines, gives the carriers an edge over domestic carriers traffic wise.

Ojikutu, however, canvassed a strategy that would benefit the domestic airlines if government can implement it.

According to him, government instead of granting multiple designation should limit the routes to just two per airline with one in the North and another in the South but not Lagos and Abuja as the airline should pick either or.

He said: ”Ethiopian Airline now operates 23 weekly flights to four Nigerian viable airports, British airlines operate 21 weekly flights to two Nigerian airports and the Middle East airlines of Emirates, Qatar and Turkish Airline operate over 30 flights weekly to three destinations, where is the domestic market for our airlines if the foreign airlines are given multiple designation within our country?”

He went on :” Why can’t government increase the frequencies to whatever but limit each airline to a maximum of two routes; one in the North and one in the South? But no airline should be allowed to fly both Lagos and Abuja, it has to be either one or the other.”

Senate intervention

The Senate last week  advocated the protection of Nigerian airlines from what they described as unfair competition from their foreign counterparts.

It  resolved to invite the indigenous airline operators to explain to the Senate the challenges they are facing in the aviation industry as well as summon the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, the Director-General of Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and Managing Director of FAAN to explain why foreign airlines are allowed to fly multiple routes within Nigeria to mop up passengers; a practice not allowed in other countries.

Ifeanyi Uba, who brought the motion to the Senate, decried that foreign airlines are now designated to multiple routes within Nigeria, noting that this development threatens the survival of local airlines.

He said: ”For example, Ethiopia Airlines operates in five cities namely; Enugu, Kano, Kaduna, Abuja, and Lagos; Turkish Airlines operates in four cities: Abuja, Kano, Lagos, and Port Harcourt and Emirates Airlines operates two frequencies daily into Lagos and one to Abuja.”

He noted that besides multiple designations, foreign airlines are now being encouraged to do multiple frequencies into the country and within the country, a practice which he said is not allowed in other countries.

“For instance, Turkish Airlines has just started Istanbul to Abuja, Abuja to Port Harcourt, Port Harcourt to Abuja, then Abuja to Istanbul. Lufthansa and Air France are also doing same, thereby running indigenous airlines out of business.

“Concerned that while Emirates has two frequencies into Lagos and one to Abuja, it has announced plans to introduce a third flight in and out of Lagos to start very soon, making it three flights daily to Lagos.”

 Reactions

A group of aviation professionals, the Aviation Round Table (ART), has praised the move by the Senate to protect Nigerian airlines from unfair competition in relation to their foreign counterparts.

Its President, Gbenga Olowo, said the move, albeit belated, was a welcome development.

Olowo said the ART had always advocated the protection of Nigerian carriers by the Federal Government and its agencies and would continue to do so until it gets the desired results.

He said: “The Senate will have to revert a lot of the recklessness that have taken place in our Bilateral Air Services Agreements (BASAs).

“We, in ART, have continuously said that what we are doing to our domestic airlines is prodigal.

“Nigeria has been doing a lot of regulations on safety and has been getting pass marks, but in the area of economic regulations, we have been very reckless.

“Economic regulations, as far as BASA is concerned, is coming up with policies that will first of all protect your own airlines and local businesses.”

Olowo said, unfortunately, the opposite was what was in place in Nigeria, compelling the country’s airlines to be suffering lack of reciprocity and negative balance of trade.

He noted that Nigerian carrier, Air Peace, which asked for government protection following its recent flight operations to Sharjah-Dubai, was justified to seek for assistance due to the hostilities meted to Nigerian carriers by foreign governments.

“ADC tried London and failed; Bellview tried India, Amsterdam, London, Dubai and failed; Medview went to Dubai and failed and now Air Peace is making another good effort to break into these lucrative routes.

“So, if our government is serious, especially the aviation ministry and the economic regulations department of the NCAA, they should agree with the protection Air Peace is asking for, which is very simple,” Olowo said.

According to him, what Air Peace is asking for is the elimination of unfair competition that affected its predecessors on the international routes.

Olowo said for instance, Etihad and Emirates Airlines had multiple frequencies into Abuja and Lagos, stressing that in order to balance the scale, Air Peace should be granted same rights into the United Arab Emirates.

He said: “Right now, they are doing seven, and our economic regulators have to reduce it to three so that the market will be free for competition.

“Otherwise, those doing seven can drop tariff and will knock off their competitor from Nigeria. So, if you want to help your own, you have to make the reciprocity even.”

Olowo advised the Senate to make the hearing public and also extend invitation to the ART and other aviation professionals in order to achieve its purpose.

Bishop Kukah decries ‘demonization’ of Fulani herdsmen

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto, Most Revd. Matthew Kukah, has condemned the 'demonization' of the Fulanis, following the recent murder of Funke Olakunrin, daughter of Afenifere leader, Reuben Fasoranti.

Speaking on Tuesday at a colloquium on fake news and hate speech organised by the Olusegun Obasanjo Centre for African Studies, an arm of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in Abuja, Bishop Kukah warned that hate speech often preceded any genocide experienced in history.

He also likened the profiling of the Fulani to what happened to the Igbos leading up to the Nigerian civil war between 1967 and 1970.

Quote:“If it is Fulani today, yesterday it was the Igbos,” he said.  On the controvery of having Fulani herdsmen on the Nigerian passport, he questioned why the focus is on the tribe when there are others.
“When I look at my passport, it has the coat of arm and map of Nigeria. Then right in front of the data page where all my information is, I have the Bini. I am not a Bini man, but I am eminently proud of this. .
.
I didn’t even know it was here, because I had to go through the passport page by page. When I opened the passport the first thing I saw was Zuma Rock, then I see Tiv dancers. Who gave them permission to put Tiv dancers? .
.
Then I got to next page, before I came to this poor Fulani man who is standing with his cows. Suddenly, this is the only thing we have chosen. Why is it exciting? .
.
It is exciting because this is the time for us to ‘hate’, literally tag every Fulani as a herdsman. We are on a very dangerous precipice,” he said.

Urging Nigerians to be their brother's keeper,  Bishop Kukah also asked those in leadership position to stand up and tell where the country is going.

#bbnaija: Khafi In Tears Because Gedoni Keeps Distance From Her Since Kim Left
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 07-17-2019, 09:55 AM - No Replies

The Matchmaker

During her conversation with Omashola, Khafi revealed her sadness about the distance between herself and her self-selected Pepper Dem partner – Gedoni. In his response, Omashola said he noticed the distant communication between the pair and had told Gedoni to address the issue with Khafi. This conversation prompted Khafi to address the space in their situationship.

What Stirred Up The Trouble?

Khafi addressed the trouble in their ship by asking Gedoni why the pair had been distant since Sunday. This was evident when Khafi was seen struggling to memorise her lyrics in today’s Pepsi Know Da Lyrics Task – and while other Housemates helped her get through the struggle, Gedoni was nowhere to be found. To her, he just wasn’t there for her.

To Khafi, she felt her answer to Ebuka’s question about her feelings for Gedoni made him scared and caused this distance. We reckon it wouldn’t be easy to forget the moment Khafi was caught agreeing with Ebuka that Gedoni had arrested her heart. Biggie’s cupid must be doing a great job in the House.

“It felt like you only used me to get over KimOprah and now that she’s gone, you’re done playing the game”, said Khafi as she revealed her fears.

Sober Gedoni

In his defence, Gedoni said he has always had issues in his past relationships as a result of getting easily misunderstood. He also blamed the rain for his moody behaviour in the House and promised he didn’t keep his distance intentionally. Is this a good enough excuse to keep the stormy weather away?

Tears and Cuddles

“I won’t make you feel that way again”, said Gedoni, while he tried explaining the reason for the rift between them. Emotional Khafi burst out in tears as she kept on revealing her fears about getting emotionally attached to him – which birthed a cuddling moment between the pair.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

WEDNESDAY, 17TH JULY.

GROW WITHOUT AGEING

For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day (2 Corinthians 4:16).

Eternal life is the life with agelessness. When you received eternal life, you passed from death to life; from time into timelessness; from age into agelessness. In Christ, we grow; we don’t age.

It’s important you catch this, because the generation of the Church that catches this truth is the generation of the glory. The human body wasn’t made to grow old and die. In Bible accounts, some people lived to be over nine hundred years, some eight hundred, and others seven hundred and so on. But the number of years that man lived on earth progressively reduced because of sin, according to the scriptures.

However, the Bible says that Jesus Christ took the punishment for our sins, and died to save us. If indeed this is true; if indeed, He laid down His life for us on account of our sins, it therefore means that the problem of sin has been dealt with. In that case, the effect of sin should no longer continue.

As a result, man should no longer be a victim of age. His years should no longer be limited to 70, 80, or 120, because being born again, you’ve been brought into His glory and should be living a glorified life. You’re supposed to be a victor every day of your life. Nothing on earth should make you a victim; not even old age, because when you come into the zone of agelessness, you can grow without ageing.

Take Moses for example, the Bible says that at a hundred and twenty years of age, his eyes weren’t dim; his physical stature wasn’t abated: “And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated” (Deuteronomy 34:7). Even though he could see that he was clearly an old man, his physical stature was strong.

He wasn’t the only one. At the age of eighty-five, Caleb said, “I am as strong today as I was when I was forty; therefore, give me this mountain” (Joshua 14:7-12). Hallelujah!

Grow, but don’t age! Don’t be like those who are only forty-two and they say, “You know I’m not so young anymore.” Christ makes you forever alive, strong, and effective. You have eternal life; meaning you’re in the ageless zone. Blessed be God!

PRAYER

Righteous Father, I thank you for giving me eternal life and catapulting me to the ageless zone, where I grow, make progress, and excel from glory to glory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

John 11:25-26 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

17TH JULY.

I affirm that the Lord has granted me an understanding of the Gospel. I am established in righteousness, steadfast and unmovable in the Lord, filled with the knowledge of God, in all wisdom and discernment. I know all things by the Holy Spirit that is at work in me. I walk in the fullness of the blessings of the Gospel of Christ, and in the glory of my inheritance in Him. My mind is anointed to think the “God-kind” of thoughts. As I meditate on the Word, I build a wealth of thoughts

that keep me in the arena of excellence, health, and prosperity, causing me to live the best life here on earth. I am well positioned to fulfil God’s desire and plan for my life, as I give myself daily to the Word. The word of God is in my heart and in my mouth; I’ve been granted the Holy Spirit to help me become a more effective minister of the Gospel, having greater influence, reach and impact in the world.

I am invigorated with divine might and ability in my spirit for the supernatural. I am empowered to do the impossible, for down in my heart is the very nature of the Father. The effect of the life and nature of God in my spirit is apparent in everything that I do.

I am bold and courageous, for the Holy Spirit lives in me; in Him, I live, move and have my being! I am a God-carrying vessel, filled with the maximum load of God! Therefore, I am unconquerable and indomitable, because greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. Blessed be God!

[Image: _5zQNm0wrAErEuJ-8Ju6ePqW9zOr5DRvJvkkjwGQ...gXwUo8NEoI]
Tỷ lệ trả thưởng trong trò chơi Blackjack

DPR Uncovers 45 Petrol Stations Used For Smuggling Products In Adamawa
User Avatar Forum: Oil/Gas
Posted by: Edoman - 07-17-2019, 08:38 AM - No Replies

The Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR has uncovered 45 illegal petrol stations in Adamawa State used for smuggling of petrol products to neighboring countries.

The DPR Controller in charge of the state, Alhaji Ibrahim A. Ciroma, made the disclosure yesterday in Yola, the state capital, during a tour to checkmate the activities of petroleum marketers in the state.

He said the reason for the tour was to curtail the large influx of petroleum products demanded by major marketers who are aiding the illegal stations to smuggle petrol products to neighboring countries like Cameroon Niger, and Chad.

According to him, despite the three months warning given to the owners of the illegal stations to dismantle them, it fell on deaf ears as they refused to comply.

He said as a result of the development, he has written the names of the illegal stations and their addresses to the security agencies for prompt actions, but still awaiting for them to carry out the action.

Ciroma said such illegal activities could aid the activities of the Boko Haram terrorists and other criminals at the borders of Cameroon where insurgency is more prevalent.

He lamented that marketers demand the products more than the capacity of their fuel stations to sell to the illegal stations at an exorbitant price of N350 to N400 per litre with the intention to smuggle the products to neighboring countries for more gains.

“The federal government spent huge amount to refine the products, l don’t see the reason for some unpatriotic Nigerians to smuggle the products to others countries for more gains thereby aiding all forms of criminalities in border areas,” he said.

Ciroma said the DPR was collaborating with other security agencies to curtail the activities of smugglers who illegally smuggled the products outside the countries.

10 Turkish sailors kidnapped by armed pirates off the coast of Nigeria

A group of 10 Turkish sailors have been kidnapped by pirates off the coast of Nigeria, reportedly for ransom.

According to reports, the Paksoy-1 was sailing from Cameroon to Ivory Coast when the pirates boarded the ship in the Gulf of Guinea. It was not carrying freight and eight sailors managed to escape.

Turkey says it is working to secure the release of those seized and the International Maritime Bureau says the Gulf of Guinea is the most dangerous sea in the world for piracy. Ömer Çelik, spokesman for Turkey's ruling AK Party, said the ministry was following the case closely and "working on it".

Numan Paksoy, operations manager at Kad?o?lu Maritime, said about "12 pirates with heavy guns" had attacked the boat.  Crew members hid in a safe room - the citadel - when the pirates boarded the ship, but emerged after "the assailants threatened to burn the ship and kill all of them", he told the BBC in an emailed statement.

The attackers then picked 10 sailors and let the other eight go, he added.

Again, US lawmaker Al-Green files impeachment notice against President Trump

US lawmaker Al Green on Tuesday filed articles of impeachment against President Trump under a process that will force a House floor vote by the end of this week.

Green introduced his articles of impeachment after the House passed a resolution largely along party lines condemning Trump for suggesting that four progressive freshman congresswomen of color Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.), Ayanna Pressley (Mass.), Ilhan Omar (Minn.) and Rashida Tlaib (Mich.) “go back” to their countries.

Green said that the House should go beyond condemning Trump and move to remove him from office. It will be the third impeachment floor vote forced by Green in the last two years, but the first since Democrats took control of the House. Green previously forced procedural votes on articles of impeachment against Trump in December 2017 and January 2018. Both efforts drew the support of about 60 House Democrats.

A total of 84 House Democrats currently support launching an impeachment inquiry, as well as independent Rep. Justin Amash (Mich.), according to The Hill’s whip list. But Democratic leaders and the majority of the caucus are not yet on board as they seek to continue ongoing investigations of the Trump administration. A floor vote will force all House Democrats to go on the record about an issue where they have yet to reach consensus.

Green read aloud his articles of impeachment on the House floor, saying that Trump is “unfit to defend the ideals that have made America great” and “unfit to ensure domestic tranquillity” and “promote the general welfare.” As with his previous articles of impeachment, Green accused Trump of having “sown seeds of discord among the people of the United States” by inflaming racial tensions and “brought to the high office of president of the United States in contempt, ridicule, disgrace, and disrepute.”

Green, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, forced the vote in January 2018 after The Washington Post reported Trump described African nations as “shithole countries.” Some Democrats in favour of impeachment said on Tuesday that Green’s timing isn’t ideal given that special counsel Robert Mueller will be testifying before Congress next week about his report on whether Trump obstructed justice in the Russian election interference investigation.

Declare state of emergency on security – PDP tells President Buhari

The Peoples Democratic Party has called on President Buhari to declare a state of emergency on security in order to address insecurity situation in the country.

The PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus, made the appeal at a press conference on Tuesday in Abuja while reacting to the open letter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo to President Buhari. Secondus said the advice was necessary looking at the increasing rate of cases of killing and kidnapping across the country.

He recalled the killing of the then female international aide worker and the recent killing of Funke Olakunrin daughter of Pa Reuben Fasoranti, leader of the Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere. Secondus said that the worsen security situation between April and now had made concerned patriotic leaders to voice out their concerns.

These leaders, according to him, include Mr Obasanjo; the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, John Cardinal Onaiyekan; Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka; and former governor of old Kaduna State, Balarabe Musa, among others.  Secondus described Mr Obasanjo’s letter as truth that could not be run away from, if the insecurity situation must be addressed.

Quote:“Former President Obasanjo in a timely tirade to the President on Monday raised all the issues and properly situated the security position in the country. He went further to highlight the implications of the current state of the nation and where we are headed if urgent steps are not taken.  “As National Chairman of the main opposition party I cannot agree less with the former President.
“I cannot agree less with him where he said among other things that Quote. The main issue, if I may dare say, is poor management or mismanagement of diversity which, on the other hand, is one of our greatest and most important assets…”.
Secondus said the PDP whole-heatedly associates itself with the position of the patriotic Nigerians.  “The PDP urges President Buhari to respond appropriately to their timely advisories by declaring state of emergency on security in the country and go further urgently to address the issues raised in Obasanjo’s letter.

Secondus said the killing of Mrs Olakunrin was the high point of murdering of innocent Nigerians across the land.  “It certainly cannot be well for a nation that creates an ugly situation where a 94-year-old Nationalist would be burying her 58-year-old daughter.  “This certainly is not Nigeria of our dream.”

User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the immediate implementation of the National Minimum of Wage of N30,000 monthly to all federal civil servants earning less than N30,000 monthly. The Executive Chairman, National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, (NSIWC), Dr. Richard Onwuka Egbule, disclosed this at a press briefing in Abuja on Monday.

He said based on the approval from the president, the implementation takes effect from the 18h April, 2019.

Dr. Egbule explained that the civil servants affected are only those who earn less than N30,000 monthly adding that with the implementation of the minimum wage, no FG staff will earn less than N30,000 per month.

According to him, the salaries structures affected include; the consolidated public service salary structure (CONPSS); consolidated health salary structure (CONHESS); consolidated research and allied institutions salary structure (CONRAISS); consolidated tertiary institutions salary structure (CONTISS II) and consolidated tertiary educational institutions salary structure (CONTEDNESS).

Dr. Egbule however noted that “the negotiations between the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council on the consequential adjustments arising from the new national minimum wage for officers who earned salaries above N30,000 per month before 18th April, 2019 in the federal civil service will continue.”

He assured that the “outcome of such negotiations will be implemented with the effect from the date an agreement is reached.” He also said all arrears arising from the implementation of the N30,000 minimum wage will be worked out by all concerned agencies in partnership with the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation. He also said those who earn N30,000 and above now will still get their salaries adjusted after the negotiations with the unions.

Tonto never had food in her house for herself and workers, she was always depressed - Blessing Osom shares shocking details

Blessing Osom, a former friend/bestie to Tonto Dikeh has shared more shocking details about her enstranged relationship with the actress.

Blessing Osom made headlines a few days ago after taking to Instagram to thank Tonto's ex-husband Olakunle Churchill for giving her N3m to celebrate her birthday.

Now, she's spilling alot about her relationship with Tonto revealing how the actress used to be depressed and how much she's had to borrow her money.

Read Below...

Quote:When people talk about running away from friends like me, i'm amused, but i doubt Tonto Dike will ever have a friend like me. I refused to discuss my issue with Tonto because I wanted to be matured about it. I think there is need to clarify issues for concerned parties.
A year ago I posted a picture of my meal on my DM and Tonto commented about coming to eat and also added she would like us to talk about doing business together. I responded to the Dm by saying it’s fine. Hours later, Tonto drove in with a friend and we had lunch. She made mention of her doing an empowerment program which they needed money, but because the event was close and in two days, i was only able to raise 500k which was the only funds used for the event.
Till date,Tonto has not empowered the graduating students. Tonto also told me she needed money for rent because of the pressure she was getting from the facility management, I had to introduce her to someone who helped in sorting the rent and the person was constantly giving her millions of Naira.
Tonto never had food in her house for herself and workers asides her son's food. I made sure that we constantly sent food to her house and never allowed her to cry as she was always depressed. I was a friend that left my car for Tonto because she never had a good car to befit a celebrity as she claims.
Please ask Tonto if she had ever used her money anytime we were out together? She will always bring up excuses like...” I forgot my ATM or my PA didn’t come out with my ATM. I knew she didn’t have cash and I was always willing to cover her up. Most times when she goes for an event, she will invite all the media houses but will never have any money at hand to pay. At the end of the day, She will move to my restaurant and will ask me to help her pay which I’ll eventually pay
Now fast forward to her SA invitation. She had a church invitation but didn’t have funds for the trip, I personally took Tonto to church, prayed with her for God to have mercy and turn around things. I personally paid in 4m to her account (i have proof) to facilitate the trip cause it was prayers answered. On reaching the embassy, Tonto was not with her Visa fee.
I knew she didn’t have the funds, I paid visa fee for 4 of us meant for the trip and also paid for the VIP lounge which she was not allowed to enter without payment. Prior to this, Tonto borrowed 300k from me which she never paid until we got to SA.
I personally brought my designer bags, cloths, Jewelries for Tonto to use for the event. After the event, she started giving me attitude just because she never wanted to share any money with me. (take note it was a church event and nothing else) I was never upset with her cause money doesn’t matter at all to me. Tonto is a very pleasant person anytime she wants something from you.
After all Tonto did to me, guess what? she went ahead to blackmail me and my restaurant. The same restaurant she was eating from. She went to all the ladies in Abuja including the one that had a restaurant to promote them and also say negative things about my person.
Tonto was basically looking for all my enemies to make friends with. I did not complain?
So why is she and some people upset because i am friends with Churchill? I can never inherit Tonto’s enemies because i know she’s not a good person. While we were friends, I know Tonto has a lot of fake account which she uses online to insult people she has issues with. I read comments of people online saying i am bad, that i am jealous of Tonto and also sleeping with Churchill!
Hey am too busy for such. Please LET US BE CLEAR ON THIS, Tonto never introduced me to Churchhill, he came on his own with his friends to eat in my restaurant. This happened before she tried being friends with me just to use me. It was my birthday and for God’s sake “ A gift is a gift". Tonto is used to paying people evil for good, but I know that God in heaven isn’t asleep, he will surely pay both of us back in our own coin. Let him be the judge. I rest my case.

The community of Ancha village of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State was in confusion on 15/7/2019 as Margaret Wakili, a 27 year old pregnant woman was killed by Fulani herdsmen.

Around 7am, Margaret took some food to her husband, Wakili Ayuba in the farm, but unfortunately for him, that was the last food he could receive from his wife.

Narrating his ordeal, the deceased's husband, Wakili told Zongo Lawrence, Publicity Secretary of Miango Youth Development Association that he was at the farm with his wife when the unfortunate incident occurred.

He said:

"Early in the morning today, I went to the farm to plant guinea corn and my wife came to the farm to bring me food. After she gave me the food, she helped me in planting the guinea corn. But as we were working, she lifted her head and saw some men. She then notified me about them."

"As I lifted my head, I saw 8 Fulanis. I then told her we should run immediately. My wife was 6 months pregnant, so she could not run faster. 6 of them chased her while 2 chased me. I ran fast and crossed the river. As I crossed, I realized that they killed my wife and were shouting, 'Allahu Akbar, we have killed infidel, we need to kill more'. As I heard them say that, I took to my heels and ran faster. They shot at me while chanting 'Allahu Akbar' but I managed to escape."

"When I got to my village, our people came out and that was how I was saved."

"The Fulani who did this came from Hayin Rukuba."

Margaret is survived by her husband, two children, her parents and other relatives.

May her soul rest in peace.

Nigeria is becoming a nightmare', Runtown says as he reacts to killing of cleaner

Runtown through his tweet, lent a voice to the outcry over the prevalent killings and kidnappings that have been recorded across the country in the last few weeks.

Pondering on the number of protests to engage in before the issue of SARS officers killing innocent citizens is addressed, the singer lashed out at Nigerian authorities over report of a cleaner allegedly killed by a SARS officer. Runtown also stated that Nigeria is becoming a nightmare and not the country of our dreams.

He tweeted;

Quote:How many more tweets do we have to put out? How many more hashtags do we have to push? How many more protests? How many more lives do we have to lose before something is done about SARS? This is not the Nigeria of our dreams. Our country is turning into a nightmare.
What exactly is going on? How is it that after the several outcries and well documented incidences we are yet to curb this menace? The people are being pushed the wall. People cannot continue to lose their loved ones like this. This has to stop! This just has to STOP! #EndSARS

Teenage girl punched unconscious because she told man: "I'm sorry, I'm not interested"

An 18-year-old woman was punched unconscious because she rejected advances from men who followed her and her friend when they were on a night out.

Gabrielle Walsh and her friend were out in central Manchester on a Saturday night when they were approached by three men.

Both girls walked away from the men, but they kept following them and trying to talk to them.

"I'm sorry, I'm not interested," Gabrielle said in an attempt to get the men to go away. But this sparked a row and one of them physically attacked her.

Gabrielle, a college student, said: "They kept harassing us. I was saying to [my friend] Kyle: 'Let's go'. Then he hit me - he fully knocked me out.

"When I woke up I was on the floor and the three of them had jumped on Kyle as well."

Volunteers from the Village Angels community safety group came to the women's rescue and provided first aid.

A photo of Gabrielle's injuries following the attack was shared online and it went viral with web users showing support for her.

Gabrielle, who said the attack had left her fearful of going out in public on her own, explained: "I'm not a rude person, I just said: 'Sorry I'm not interested'.

"I think it was a jealousy, ego thing because I rejected him in front of his friends."

She added: "Girls feel like they can't say 'no'. They feel like if they say no then they might hurt you and in this case it was true.

"It's scared me, I'm scared to go out, I've always got to be with somebody."

Councillor Pat Karney, Manchester City Council's city centre spokesperson, condemned the attack and said he would see if officials can help identify the attacker through CCTV.

Nigerian Government is provoking fresh insurgency with El-Zakzaky and Shi'ites - Femi Falana warns

Human rights activist, Femi Falana has warned the Federal Government of Nigeria against its violent approach to handling members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria who are protesting the continued detention of their leader, Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, despite numerous court orders issued for his release.

Falana expressed concerns over the method the Federal Government had adopted in a statement on Tuesday. The legal luminary said the continuous detention of Elzakzaky and killing of peaceful Shiite protesters by security forces could lead the country into another bloody war that it could not afford.

Quote:“This nation cannot afford another war of insurgency which is being provoked by the contemptuous conduct of the federal government in the handling of the case of the Elzakzakys,” Falana said.
Chronicling the arrest and detention of Elzakzaky and his wife Malama Zeinab on December 12, Falana said over 1,000 Shiites were reportedly massacred by soldiers on the orders of the Nigerian Army high command and given mass burial in an unmarked grave in Mango village, Kaduna State over allegations of attempt to assassinate Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai.

Quote:He said, "Even though the leader of the Shiites, Sheik Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, was not at the scene of the attack, his residence was invaded by the rampaging troops two days later. The troops set the house ablaze, shot at El-Zakzaky and his wife, Malama Zeinab El-Zakzaky and killed three of their sons in cold blood in their presence. As if such barbaric assault was not enough, the army arrested and held El-Zakzaky and his wife in custody before handing them over to the Department of State Services. At that stage, the houses of El-Zakzaky and other leaders in Zaria were demolished by the Kaduna state on the orders of Governor Nasir El Rufai.
"After the massacre of the Shiites and the demolition of the houses of their leaders, the Kaduna state government instituted a judicial commission of inquiry to probe the violent attack.
"The detained El-Zakzaky was prevented from responding to the allegations made against him and his group at the inquiry. But the judicial commission found that there was no plan by the Shiites to assassinate General Buratai. It was also revealed at the panel that the 347 Shiites were massacred by the army in violations of the Army Rules of Engagement and the Geneva Conventions.
"Apart from condemning the brutal massacre of the Shiites, the judicial commission recommended that the culprits be prosecuted.
"Instead of implementing the recommendation by prosecuting the well-known murderers the Kaduna state government turned round to charge over 300 Shiites with the culpable homicide of a soldier who was killed by his colleagues during the attack. But the defence team convinced the Kaduna state high court to free the Shiites as they were not involved in the commission of the offence.
"Accordingly, the charge was dismissed for want of evidence while the trial court proceeded to discharge and acquit all the defendants. Meanwhile, the suit challenging the illegal detention of El-Zakzaky and his wife was decided in their favour by the federal high court on December 2, 2016.
Quote:"The presiding judge, Kolawole J. (as he then was) directed the Federal Government to release the couple from unlawful custody, pay them N50 million reparation and provide them with a temporary house since the army had burnt down their residence. But the Buhari regime has characteristically treated the court orders with arrogant contempt.
Curiously, the Court of Appeal has refused to hear the application to commit the Director-General of the State Security Service for contempt of court! Upon our legal advice, the Shiites approached three separate high courts to challenge the violation of their right to assemble and protect peacefully."

He added that despite the orderly nature in which the Shiites had conducted themselves, the Federal Government, through the army, was operating with impunity to disrupt the group's peaceful process.
Quote:"The Shiites won the cases against the Federal Government as the courts upheld their fundamental rights to freedom of expression, association, and assembly. But out of sheer impunity, the army has killed about 50 Shiites at Abuja for protesting against the continued detention of El-Zakzaky and his wife.
"As the federal government could no longer justify the illegal detention of El-Zakzaky and his wife it directed the Kaduna state government to file a charge against them. Hence, they have been charged with culpable homicide at the Kaduna state high court for the death of the same soldier.
"Pending the trial, the team of local and international physicians who examined El-Zakzaky and his wife on the orders of the trial court confirmed that their health has deteriorated and recommended that they are allowed to travel abroad for urgent medical treatment. In particular, El-Zakzaky has lost an eye while he is the process of losing the other one.
"The wife can no longer walk as a result of the gun wounds inflicted on her during the military attack of December 2015. Without adducing any reason whatsoever the federal government has ignored the recommendation of the physicians.
"The Shiites are currently protesting the refusal of the Buhari regime to release El-Zakzaky and his wife from custody to enable them to travel abroad to receive urgent medical treatment at their own expense.
"El-Zakzaky must not be allowed to die due to medical neglect as it may provoke a crisis of monumental proportions. Therefore, the federal government should implement the unanimous resolution of the House of Representatives for the release of El-Zakzaky and his wife without any further delay.
"Finally, it would be recalled that the Boko Haram sect declared war on the people of Nigeria in 2009 following the cold murder of its leader, Mohammed Yusuf by the Police. Since then the nation has known no peace. This nation cannot afford another war of insurgency which is being provoked by the contemptuous conduct of the federal government in the handling of the case of the El-Zakzaky.”

Man assaults wife's grandmother for not stopping his 8-month-old daughter from crying

A 69-year-old Malaysian woman sustained serious injuries to her face after she was allegedly punched and slapped by her grand daughter's husband for not stopping his 8-month-old daughter from crying.

Jasin District police chief Deputy Superintendent Arshad Abu said the victim suffered injuries to her forehead and bruises to both eyes in the 6am incident on Monday.

He said the victim was being treated at Jasin Hospital and would be referred to Melaka Hospital to be checked by an eye specialist, adding that she was at risk of losing her eyesight due to the seriousness of her injuries.

“Initial investigations found that before the incident, the victim’s granddaughter was in the room, and the baby was crying in the living room. The suspect then used abusive words and alleged that the victim was not taking care of the baby before hitting her until she fell. Soon after assaulting her, the suspect fled with his wife and child,” he said.

The suspect, who did not have a permanent job, and his wife had been staying with the victim since they were married. Their expenses were fully borne by the victim who worked as a cook at an Islamic school canteen for RM250 monthly salary.

The police detained the 24-year-old suspect in Bachang at 11pm the same day, adding that he tested positive for drug abuse.

The suspect had a criminal record for two previous drug offences, he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.

Wife says she mistakenly slept with her brother in-law after she mistook him for her husband

A certain Mr Akande is seeking the dissolution of his 35-year marriage on the grounds of infidelity but his wife insists it was all a mistake.

Mrs. Kudirat Ajayi, told an Igando Customary Court that she slept with her brother-in-law because she mistook him for her husband.

She said: “I was in bed in the night when my husband’s younger brother came to the house my husband rented for me.

“I thought it was my husband who normally comes to the house at that particular time between 9pm and 10pm to play and sleep with me.
“It was after he finished making love to me that I realised that he was not my husband.
“When I queried him, he claimed that my husband had travelled. That was why he came to have sex with me.
“I reported the case to my brother’s wife, who advised me not to tell my brother so that peace can reign in the family."

She also said that her husband treated the children of his other wives better than hers.

In his submission to the court, Akande said: “When I married her, I rented an apartment for her because I have other wives and I don’t want them to live together.
“I started hearing from neighbours that my wife was having an affair with a man. Initially I ignored the information until her lover came, claiming paternity of one of my children.
“The man eventually came to the house, but I refused to open the door for him.
“When I questioned my wife, she confessed that the man slept with her, but it did not result in pregnancy,” Akande added.

The 71-year-old businessman said his wife was fetish.
“I once caught her burying something in my compound. I accosted her and tried to remove what she buried there, but I could not.
“I went out. Before I returned, she had cemented the place.”

He urged the court to dissolve the union saying he no longer loved her but Kudirat prayed the court not to dissolve her marriage because she still loved her husband.

Nigerians Spent N3.1bn In Cinemas In H1 2019 – Report
User Avatar Forum: Market Place
Posted by: Edoman - 07-16-2019, 12:50 PM - No Replies

Nigerians spent nearly 3, 124, 026, 959 billion Naira to watch box office movies at the cinemas between January and June 2019.

News Agency of Nigeria reports that the figures were according to data provided by cinemas and gathered by the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria.

The year opened with ‘Aquaman’, ‘Chief Daddy’ and ‘Up North’ sitting on the top three of the chart with estimated combined earnings of 168, 263, 512 million Naira.

The movies maintained their positions until the fourth week when ‘Glass’ debuted at number one with ‘Aquaman’ taking second place and ‘Chief Daddy’, third booting ‘Up North’ to fourth place.

This led to combined earnings of 91, 409, 100 million Naira which fell to 77, 259, 811 million Naira as January closed with Kevin Hart’s ‘The Upside’ kicking ‘Chief Daddy’ to fourth place.

NAN reports that earnings remained low for February, making it the lowest grossing month with a total of 291, 843, 044 million Naira.

Top spots were alternated between ‘Alita’, ‘Cold Pursuit’, ‘What Men Want’, ‘Escape Room’ and ‘The Upside’.

By March, viewership picked up steadily and the earnings were almost doubled from that of February leading to a total of 434, 432, 431 million Naira.

‘What Men Want’, ‘Alita’, ‘Hire A Woman’, ‘She Is’, ‘Us’ and ‘Babymamas’ enjoyed a relatively good run in March but a chunk of the earnings and viewership went to Marvel’s flick ‘Captain Marvel’.

At the beginning of April, ‘HellBoy’, ‘Shazam’, ‘Little’ and ‘Us’ continued to share the top spot with ‘Captain Marvel’ until the release of the much anticipated ‘Avengers: Endgame’.

NAN also reports that with ‘Avengers: Endgame’, earnings from April climbed from 186, 929, 188 million Naira in its third week to 342, 382, 389 million Naira in its final week.

The month, which is the highest grossing in 2019, closed with estimated total earnings of 734, 151, 060 million Naira due to a major boost from Disney’s ‘Endgame’.

In May, there was a massive dip in earnings similar to that experienced in February. With ‘Endgame’, ‘The Intruder’ and ‘Longshot’, it earned a total of 367, 498, 554 million Naira.

The fall in viewership is usual after a global holiday such as Christmas for December/January and Easter for April.

The numbers picked up in June with ‘John Wick’, ‘Godzilla’ and ‘Aladdin’ leading the numbers. They were supported by ‘Anna’, ‘Men In Black’, ‘Dark Phoenix’ and ‘Bling Lagosians’.

June opened with 161, 132, 714 million Naira but closed with 100, 663, 647 million Naira leading to a total earning of 576, 322, 779 million Naira.

Ponzi Scheme: SEC Begins Verification Of 4,160 Investors’ Claims
User Avatar Forum: Market Place
Posted by: Edoman - 07-16-2019, 12:42 PM - No Replies

The Securities and Exchange Commission has started verifying claims of 4,160 unpaid investors of the illegal investment scheme organised by Dantata Success and Profitable Company.

SEC had in February sealed off the premises of Dantata Success and Profitable Company in Kano for engaging in illegal capital market activities, saying its investment operations fell within fund management without registration with the commission

It said the company was not registered and that it was using a strategy to solicit funds from unsuspecting members of the public by enticing them with returns of monthly interest on investment of between 25 to 50 per cent, depending on the nature and type of the investment.

The company sold forms to prospective investors according to their investment plans ranging from N1,000 to N3,000, with the minimum amount investable being N50,000 and a maximum amount of N5m.

SEC had first indicated its plans to commence a verification exercise for people who invested with the company in May.

The commission on Monday released a schedule for the verification exercise in a statement, which indicated July 15, 2019 as the commencement date.

The exercise is scheduled to end on July 20, with 4,160 investors undergoing verification.

SEC said investors were required to go along with the original receipts evidencing their payments or bank tellers for deposit into the company’s account, valid means of identification and bank account details.

It said the commencement of the verification exercise was sequel to the appointment of joint administrators/trustees for Dantata Success and Profitable Company and in pursuant to section 13 and 173 of the Investment and Securities Act, and consequent to an Ex parte Order granted by the Federal High Court, Kano.

A total of 478 investors were scheduled for Monday, 780 for Tuesday, 1,272 for Wednesday and Thursday, and 1,630 for Friday and Saturday.

SEC said, “The verification exercise will hold in Kano from 9:00am to 4:00pm daily. All unpaid investors are necessarily advised to attend in person as attendance by proxy is not acceptable.”

Stock Market Struggles As Index Slips 0.79%

Sustained sell pressures took the centre stage at Monday’s trading session on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange as losses in the shares of Dangote Cement, GT Bank and MTNN, dragged the All Share Index (ASI) southwards by 0.79 per cent to close at 28,341.03 points.

Year-to-Date (YTD) loss worsened to -9.8 per cent while investors lost over N110 billion as market capitalisation fell to N13.812 trillion.

Activity level strengthened as volume and value traded advanced 74.5 and 46.9 per cent to 175.16 million units and N2.14 billion, respectively in 3,111 deals.

Reacting to the development investment research analyst at Afrinvest, Adedayo Bakare, said foreign investors are focusing on the debt market rather than equities market because the macroeconomic environment remains weak.

He said, “Companies’ earnings have not been that spectacular as the investors are still looking forward to the quality of the cabinet the President is yet to constitute. Already, H1 earnings as well as global conditions remain favourable, so for the rest of the week, we still expect the bearish run to continue. Nevertheless, we expect the release of half year corporate results and bargain hunting opportunities to drive activities in the market”.

Meanwhile, investor sentiment as measured by market breadth was negative as 21 stocks depreciated in value while 10 others appreciated. Chip Plc topped the losers’ chart with 9.09 per cent to close at 0.30 kobo per share, Sovereign Insurance followed with 8.70 per cent to close at 0.21 kobo, Courtville fell by 8.33 per cent to close at 0.22 kobo while Chams and Total declined by 7.14 per cent to close at 0.26 kobo and N130 respectively.

Albanian Cocaine Gangs Flaunt Flashy Cars To Entice Criminals To UK

Albanian mafias, such as the Hellbanianz gang, now brazenly flaunt their wealth online --- including supercars such as Rolls-Royce Phantom, Bentley Bentayga and Lamborghini Huracan, guns and gold Rolex watches --- to entice criminals from Albania to smuggle themselves into Britain to join their network.

Once in the UK, the new recruits help bolster the gangs' takeover of Britain's £5bn (₦2.3 trillion) cocaine industry using an army of dial-a-drug street dealers to kingpin wholesalers controlling imports from South America and northern Europe.

Their rap videos on Instagram and YouTube boasts of shocking lyrics like "We gun you down cos Albanians need no reason. They try to catch us, but these Albanians can't be caught"

Their stranglehold of the cocaine market means the illegal drug is now at its cheapest for almost 30 years and purity across Europe is also the highest for a decade.

In the latest example of the crime epidemic gripping lawless Britain, even jailed members of the notorious Hellbanianz gang are illegally using mobile phones to brag of a luxury lifestyle behind bars.

The Albanians currently makeup the highest foreign nationals in British jails, with over 802 of them behind bars.

Killings Should Not Divide Us —tinubu
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 07-16-2019, 12:12 PM - Replies (1)

National leader of All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu, has called on Nigerians not allow killings across the country to divide them.

He said this when he paid a condolence visit to the home of the leader of pan-Yoruba sociopolitical group, Afenifere, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, over the killing of her daughter, Mrs Funke Olakunrin.

Tinubu, while speaking, urged the people not to allow the incident to divide Nigeria, but let it serve as a means to provide solution to security challenges confronting the country.

He said the security challenges like killing, raping and kidnapping should not be blamed on one particular ethnic group, saying “these challenges had been with us for a long time.”

The former governor of Lagos State said: “I am a nationalist and the security concerns and challenges right now must be faced squarely throughout Nigeria.”

While calling on Nigerians not to blame any ethnic group over the happenings in the country, Tinubu said: “I am extremely concerned about security. I don’t want a stigma; I can go through history of kidnapping in Nigeria; we know how and where it all started, there are a lot of copycats.

“For how long have we been battling insecurity in the country? There are cases of kidnapping. Is Evans, who was arrested and made disclosure also a herdsman? I don’t want to be political, but I will ask ‘where are the cows?’

He noted that the security challenges being faced by the country required more police personnel to be recruited, trained and deployed in various locations to fight insecurity across the country.

Speaking on the killing of Olakunrin, he said “this one that affected a member of our family, Mrs Olakunrin, is seriously sad and unacceptable, but nobody can return her alive; she has answered the call of her creator.

“Funke was very close to me and she died prematurely. Only four or five days ago, we chatted and I know what she discussed with me about Baba’s health condition. We just pray that this will not happen again.”

He, however, said: “We must not use this incident to divide us, but must use it as a cure to the security problems. Additional police, additional patrol and additional security reinforcement on the Ore Road and various flashpoints across the country are necessary and I have discussed this among the various authorities. The governor is eminently aware and being proactive about this.

“The security challenges are numerous across this country and to fight them, more police are being recruited and it takes time to train and deploy them in various areas.”

Also, a former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, who called at the residence of Pa Fasoranti, described the death pathetic and unfortunate.

He attributed the increase in the cases of kidnapping and killing across the country to the non-prosecution of the offenders, saying kidnapping had evolved into a lingering pervasive security threat and multifaceted criminal enterprise.

Daniel, who called on government at all levels to revisit and address the issue of security in the country, said “ I am particularly worried that our dear and once beautiful country is facing this challenges and the omen is not good at all.”

Speaking on the increase in kidnapping and other criminal activities, he said “it is all about body language, because not many of these criminals or kidnappers are prosecuted or punished and this is not sending the right signal.

“When criminal offences are committed, we expect the government to act swiftly and to be seen to punish the criminals concerned.”

Earlier on Sunday, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, on behalf of the Federal Government, had paid a condolence visit to the home of Chief Fasoranti, with an assurance that the Federal Government will deploy all options to put an end to the security challenges in the country.

He described the death of the daughter of the Afenifere leader, Mrs Olakunrin, who was killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen on Friday, on Benin/Ore Road as a massive tragedy.

Osinbajo, who arrived at the Fasorantis residence at exactly 9.10 a.m., was accompanied by the state governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu. He said the Federal Government would explore all options, including deploying soldiers on the highways, towards addressing the growing cases of security challenges in Nigeria.”

According to him, the Federal Government IS working towards a workable overhauling of the nation’s security architecture, disclosing that President Muhammadu Buhari had met with all the security chiefs toward restrategising to fight the war against security breaches.

He confirmed that the Inspector-General of Police had also laid out a new policy on community policing to enhance intelligence gathering, and assured Nigerians that the government was committed to providing all logistics to prosecute the fight against criminality.

He appealed to Nigerians to be calm, while assuring that the present administration remains committed to security of lives and property.

“As you know, I am here to commiserate with the families of Olakunrin and Pa Fasoranti.

“This is a massive tragedy as you can imagine. We have seen it replicated here and there, I mean kidnapping and killings.

“As you all know, the president has very recently met, not only the service chiefs, but also the IGP and he has laid out a new policy on the community policing.

“One of the most important things is intelligence gathering; that is why we have the community policing system where policemen would be trained in their own local government areas and would remain there. This is as close as we get to the community policing structure that we expect to have.

“The other thing of course is that we are also engaging the army so that there will be a bit of more military presence, especially on our roads. The Inspector-General of Police has already committed to ensuring that there is full coverage of the police and even helicopters.”

“To fastening the search for these killers and also to ensure that there is adequate presence to deter this kind of terrible situation from recurring. We are looking at the whole security architecture and trying to ensure that we are able to scale up and ensure that we are able to protect the lives and properties of Nigerians.

“Security in a big county like Nigeria as you can imagine has challenges that are dynamic and we also have to be consistently dynamic to ensure that we are able to beat the challenges as they appear.

“I think we can be very hopeful that we would see peace and calm as some of the steps we are taking come to fruition. You know also that we met with the governors in the South-West and in the different zones, and everybody is coming to ensure that security is adequate and everyone feels safe and secure,” he said.

Nnamdi Kanu To Tinubu: You Have Disappointed, Disgraced The Noble Yoruba Ancestry

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, and Director of Radio Biafran, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has accused the National Leader of the All Progress Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, of spreading falsehood targeted against the Igbo race.

The IPOB leader alleged that the chieftain of Lagos politics’ intention is to rubbish the Igbo race because of his alleged selfish presidential ambition.

A statement personally signed by Mazi Kanu, and made available to newsmen by IPOB’ Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, titled “Tinubu stop spreading anti-Igbo falsehood” accused the APC National leader of greed, conceit and unbridled presidential political ambition.

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s statement read, “Tinubu, you cannot sacrifice the blood of your brethren on the shrine of your greed, conceit and unbridled 2023 presidential political ambition.

“You have disappointed and disgraced the noble Yoruba ancestry, by allowing your self-centred avarice and ego to stifle the aspirations and destiny of your people.

“I must remind you today that your Fulani masters will never do for you what you are slavishly doing for them. You know in your heart of hearts that murderous Fulani herdsmen are culpable in the brutal murder of a Yoruba daughter and that Igbos had no hand in the Ore Highway Massacre.

“An influential Yoruba newspaper reported that nearby villagers, who are Yorubas, informed the police that the killer Fulani herdsmen have their base in a nearby forest.

“These are eye witness account from Yoruba people living in the surrounding areas where the tragic incident occurred. Or are you saying the villagers can no longer distinguish between a gun-wielding Fulani terrorist and an Igbo man?

“Your unguarded utterances only succeeded in doing more harm to the Fosaranti family, insulting the memory of their daughter and will be seen for what it is, an affront to the dignity of the Yoruba race. Do not behave like a Fulani Lackey!!!

“The fate of Afonja and loss of Illorin a Yoruba territory to the Fulani conquistadors in years gone by should have taught you and your likes a bitter historical lesson but it seems you are hell-bent on repeating the mistakes of the past.

“Do not be devoid of shame, honour and dignity which are the hallmarks of a true statesman. The Fulani that you serve so foolishly will never shed one drop of Fulani blood for people like you. They will never concede “their” Presidency to a lewd unequal.”

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, reminded the APC, leader that “to the Fulanis, he is another camouflage Muslim, a filthy infidel from the South, a contaminated version of Islam not worthy to be seen or regarded as an equal.”

“Have you ever wondered why no Yoruba Muslim including yourself, can never be allowed to lead a Jummat prayer in any mosque in the north? Because you, along with other Yoruba Muslim are not and can never be considered equal to your Fulani counterparts.

“Is it not a shame that Yorubas like yourself submit to the authority of the Sultan of Sokoto as the supreme leader of Muslims in Nigeria in perpetuity, yet no Yoruba man will ever occupy that throne. So you see, you will remain their slave forever and ever.

“Quislings in the service of Fulani Caliphate abound in Igboland too, but we continue to expose, ridicule and sanction them because we are ever conscious of the consequences of their actions on present and future generations.

“The Fulani killing machine you serve so slavishly will continue to Taqiyya you and dangle the fruit of a false presidential promise.”

Teenage housekeeper arraigned for stealing her employer’s international passports

A teenage housekeeper identified as Ofonime John, was on Monday arraigned before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos for alleged theft of her employer’s international passports.

John, 19, who lives in Ogun State, is facing a count charge of stealing, to which she pleaded not guilty. Prosecuting Sergeant Modupe Olaluwoye told the court that the defendant committed the offence at 10am on July 1, on Grace Court Estate, Makoko, Yaba.

She said the defendant worked for the complainant, Mrs. Modupe Olubamowo, for over a year before she stole her passport with UK 10-year visa and an expired one.

Olaluwoye said the complainant kept the passports in a cupboard in her room, from where the defendant stole them and ran away.

Quote:“My lord, the defendant claimed that she had to rush to her village because her mother was ill. It was after she left that the complainant noticed that her passports were missing and she reported to the police. They contacted the agent that connected her (defendant) to the complainant and she was brought back,” the prosecutor said.
The alleged offence contravenes Section 287 (7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised). Chief Magistrate Oluwatoyin Oghere granted the defendant N100,000 bail with two sureties in the like sum. She said the sureties should be employed and show evidence of three years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government.  The case continues on September 11.

Daily Devotional for Tuesday 16th July
User Avatar Forum: Daily Devotions

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

TUESDAY, 16TH JULY.

WE MUST PREACH THE GOSPEL.

Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great (Joel 3:13).

The wickedness and evil we see in our world are our opportunity to shine the light of the Gospel. The darker the world, the brighter our lights must shine, for we’re the light in a dark world (Philippians 2:15).

A sinful and hurting world presents us with compelling opportunities to establish the righteousness of Christ. It’s our calling; we’ve got to do it! Bearing the light of the Gospel, we’re to turn men from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God.

Consider for a moment, the blessings of the Gospel for the poor and the despised; the afflicted and the downtrodden, and what promise it holds for them! How that a man who is as nothing, if only he’d receive Christ, would become a prince of power with God (1 Samuel 2:8).

That’s what our God does; that’s what the Gospel does. No one’s valley is too deep; no one’s sin is too dark. He said in Isaiah 1:18, “…though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” Hallelujah!

So, in looking at the world around you, have a new mindset, because Jesus came not for the righteous, but for sinners. He came to save sinners and make them sons of God. And we’re the bearers of the good news.

The world today has become so hopeless. Men have lost hope in the future; they’ve lost hope in just about everything. But there’s hope in Christ. And when we minister that hope, we’re not giving people some false hope, no; He proves His reality in the message that we preach.

We never minister alone; when we preach, the Lord confirms the Word. The Bible says, “And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen” (Mark 16:20). Utilize every opportunity to preach the Gospel.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for counting me worthy and faithful, putting me in the ministry of reconciliation and committing to my trust the Gospel of peace. As I shine the light of the Gospel in my world, your grace is released for salvation and many are imparted with eternal life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

1 Corinthians 9:16 For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!

2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

2-Year Bible Reading Plan Luke 9:10-17 & Joshua 12

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

16TH JULY.

I affirm that I am God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for me to do. The hand of the Lord is upon me; therefore, my days on earth are full of Joy, grace, pleasure, beauty, and glory. Hallelujah.

Sin shall never have dominion over me, because Christ Jesus died for me, and was raised back to life for my justification, thereby absolving me of every guilt and judgment of sin both now and forever. Hallelujah. My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and all of Heaven tabernacles on the inside of me.

I am full of the Holy Ghost and power. In my body; there’s no sickness, no disease, no weakness because I am daily vitalized by the Holy Spirit. I am in the centre of God’s will and purpose for my life and I am well furnished and equipped by the Holy Spirit who perambulates all through me. Hallelujah. I

am so valuable to God and even the very hairs of my head are all numbered. There’s no challenge or problem that is strong enough to destroy me because the greater One lives on the inside of me. Glory to God. Hallelujah!

God bless you

Photo: Police destroy kidnappers’ den in Rivers State

The public relations officer of the Rivers State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni said on Monday that it had destroyed a camp belonging to suspected kidnappers in Omerelu, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

He said the destruction of the kidnappers’ den was carried out following the attack on motorists along the Omerelu-Owerri road on July 4, 2019.

Omoni said in a statement issued in Port Harcourt that the police had entered the forest in Omerelu in search of the kidnappers and their camps. He stated that the hoodlums, who immediately engaged policemen in a shootout, were repelled, even as they abandoned their camp as a result of the superior firepower of Special Anti-Robbery Squad.

Quote:“Personnel of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS), in a sting operation on 5/7/19, following the attack on motorists along the Omerelu-Owerri road on 4/7/19 while acting on credible information, stormed a kidnappers’ den in a forest in Omerelu.
On sighting the police, the hoodlums engaged them in a shootout, but they (kidnappers) were repelled and chased farther into the forest with some of them sustaining life-threatening gunshot wounds,” Omoni said.
He listed exhibits recovered from the camp before it was destroyed as one locally made pistol, live ammunition, one 32-inch plasma television and one generator.  Other exhibits, according to the state police spokesman, are one bag of garri, automated teller machine cards and photographs of the hoodlums. Omoni added that the Command had intensified efforts towards ensuring the arrest of the fleeing hoodlums, just as he appealed to members of the public to give any information that could lead to their arrest.
