Woman hacks her husband to death, strangles her two children before hanging herself

A Kenyan woman who hacked her husband to death and strangled her two children before hanging herself have been laid to rest alongside other family members.

The family of four were all laid to rest on Thursday at Lang'ata Cemetery, Nairobi.

Joyce Wanjiru, 30, reportedly hacked her husband, Joseph Gitau with an axe in the back of the head and stabbed him in the back with a knife at their home in Thome 5 Estate, Nairobi. Gitau’s body was found on the bed.

Wanjiru also strangled their two children. One was found on a couch while the other child's body was discovered on his small bed.

The woman who has been with her husband for 10 years was later found hanging from a roof beam.

The motive behind the killings which happened on July 9 in Thome 5 Estate is still a mystery, but it was claimed that the husband was constantly battered by his wife, Joyce Wanjirui.

According to his longtime friend, Steven Kariuki, Gitau was too reserved to say what was really on his mind as he was beaten and humiliated by his wife.

“You would never notice if Gitau had problems or not. I am so mad at him, even if he's dead. He didn't speak to me. I didn't know he had problems. We wouldn't be where we are right now if he did.

Kariuki said his "heart is very broken as we started our friendship back when we were children. Our parents are friends. I used to pass by his workplace quite often and discuss things then go back to our businesses,” Kariuki said at the burial.

Southwest wants no war' - Ooni of Ife says after visit to President Buhari (Photos)

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, reflected on the security situation in the country and urged political leaders against blowing issues out of proportion. He said the Southwest would not want to experience any war, warning that the drumbeats of war “is sounding loud across the country”.

He spoke at the State House, Abuja, after meeting with President Buhari. He told reporters that he was at the State House for talks with the President on behalf of traditional rulers on how to improve the security situation.

The Ooni said: “How to improve security. I came to speak on behalf of other traditional rulers. Before I came here, I discussed with the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, who has been there for close to 50 years and we cannot take away such a very massive experience in terms of knowing the structure of Nigeria. And also by virtue of that, Alaafin is in constant touch with Awujale, Oba Sikiru Adetona and very much; we are all on the same page.

Quote:“So, I’m here and I had a discussion that is very fruitful with Mr President about what we all know the security situation in the country. We made him to know that the issue at hand in the Southwest is real – the issue of insecurity.
“We live in the remote and rural areas of the southwestern part of the country, most of those bushes and those forests are being occupied by strange people and we have decided to take it upon ourselves to try as much as possible to work with the government to fish them out.
“Why I’m here again is, everybody is beating the war drum; we don’t want war; who can stand war? We want something better for our youths. Everybody is beating the drum of war; we don’t want war; Who can stand war? We want something better for our youths.
“We should better use them for something good other than shouting war and anarchy. We don’t want that. We told the President that and he is on the same page with us. Politicians should be careful not to throw things out of proportion. We should make sure things are right. Mr. President has actually given good directives to security chiefs, especially the IG (Inspector-General); they will visit each and every traditional ruler’s palaces that are very sensitive in Southwest with immediate effect, he is going to give that directive.
“He said that everything must be done to put all security agencies to good use and work with the locals to separate the bad eggs.  We need to work very closely with them and every other security agencies in the country, we will put them to use now; it is very important to us to put them to use and work with the locals; it is very important so that we can separate the corn from the chaff.

I raped my daughter to test her virginity – Suspect

Wasiu Orilonise, a 37-year-old security guard confessed to raping his 15-year-old daughter after being arraigned before Oyo State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ibadan.

The suspect arraigned on one count of having unlawful carnal knowledge of his daughter, begged for the court for forgiveness as he claimed to have committed the said offence because he wanted to test the virginity of his daughter to protect her.

The guard told the Chief Magistrate, Mr Taiwo Olaniran that he lost his wife few years ago when asked what pushed him into raping his own biological daughter. According to him, he has been taking care of the victim and her siblings since then, but decided to know if she has lost her virginity sometime in December 2018 at their residence in Omo village, Agbofieti, Ibadan. Upon discovering that she was still a virgin, he started having sex with her regularly before she would leave for school and at night.

The case was adjourned till July 30, 2019, as Orilonise whose plea was not taken by the court was remanded in Agodi Prison, pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Police bust international cyber fraud gang in India, arrest Nigerian national

A Nigerian national was arrested from DLF phase III of Gurugram in Haryana by a cyber cell team of inspector general of police (IG), Agra range, on Tuesday, July 16, on charges of duping an Agra-based official of the food processing department of Rs 32 lakh.

According to police, the accused, Andrew Daniel, identified himself to the victim as Dr Edyon, process manager of a US-based pharmaceuticals company that manufactures medicines for animals and supplies steroids to owners of horse riding clubs.

The accused lured the victim to become a business partner and invest money into buying fake medicines from 'fake companies' by promising huge profits.
“The accused used to send text messages to people's phone numbers, offering partnership in steroid export business and promising huge profits. Once a victim falls in their net, the gang members would pose as representatives of the US firm and win confidence of the victim before asking him to buy a sample of 'fake steroid' from 'fake' Indian pharmaceutical companies for export. After testing the sample, the representatives would promise to offer a much higher price for the steroid to keep the victim interested in the deal.

Later, they would ask the victim to buy the 'steroid' in large quantities from the so-called companies.

Thinking that the deal would bring huge profits, their victim would jump into the trap. Once the victim buys the fake steroid by paying huge sums of money, the gang members would vanish. They would charge Rs 6 lakh for 1 litre of steroid,” said Vishal Sharma, sub-inspector of IG cyber cell.

Daniel came to India on a student visa in 2011. Later he came into contact with a cyber gang. After expiry of his student visa in 2015, Daniel moved to NCR to carry out his nefarious activities.
“We arrested Daniel in presence of his girlfriend Peggy Morrison on Tuesday and recovered laptops and mobile phones which contains data of their victims. The members of the gang are spread across several Indian states such as Maharashtra (Mumbai), Rajasthan (Pali), Gurugram (Haryana), Delhi, etc. They have also opened several bank accounts on forged papers and operate ‘ghost’ pharmaceutical companies to dupe their victims. On an average, the gang would extract at least Rs 20 lakh from each victim and would distribute the booty among themselves, with 40% going to Daniel, 20% to Indian associates involved and the rest 40% to a Mumbai-based African national,” said inspector Shailesh Kumar Singh, who heads the IG cyber cell.''

However, some sources said the Mumbai-based gang member is believed to be one Steve, a national of Ghana, who was arrested by Ahmedabad police recently in a similar case of cyber fraud.

Speaking to TOI, Awadh Narayan, the officer of the food processing department who was duped in August 2018 of Rs 32 lakh by the cyber gang, said,
“I have to mortgage my house and am currently paying Rs 32,000 per month as EMI to return the Rs 30 lakh loan that I took from bank and colleagues to buy six litres of steroid from a Mumbai-based pharmaceutical company. I deposited the amount in some bank accounts as asked by Dr Edyon, alias Andrew Daniel, but never received anything from the pharmaceutical firm. Later, Edyon’s phone number too became unreachable.”
"I had first received an SMS in 2018 in which the gang offered me a lucrative deal if I joined the business of exporting steroid. The fraudsters also promised me 50% commission from the deal," added Narayan.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

FRIDAY, 19TH JULY.

THE WORD AND YOUR RESPONSE

…he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say… (Hebrews 13:5-6).

It’s important we understand how to use the Word of God. The Word of God isn’t about preaching or how well you can quote it; it’s about living by it. It’s about your response to what God has said. That’s what we read in our theme scripture; it reveals an important principle: God spoke, and gave us His Word, for the purpose of our response. You ought to have a bold response to the Word always.

Now, this doesn’t mean “reciting” the same thing that God has said; and that’s where many have missed it. For example, He didn’t say, “I will never leave you nor forsake you,” so that you may repeat the same thing, saying, “He will never leave me nor forsake me.” You have to give a response. He said what He said, so that you can respond on the basis of what He has said. So, the question is, what’s your response to God?

The powerful thing about the Word of God is your response. If you don’t respond, the Word will do you no good. You have to say something that’s consistent with what God has said. For example, He has said, “I’m with you always”; what’s your response to that? It should be, “Yes, the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want or lack anything. I prosper everywhere and in all things, because the Lord is with me; and more so, He lives in me! This is my assurance of a victorious, ever-prosperous and glorious life. Hallelujah!”

Don’t say, “O Lord, you said you’re with me; therefore, supply my needs. You said you’re with me, why am I going through this predicament?” The one who talks that way is using the wrong codes; he’s not responding but complaining; and complainers get nothing.

Don’t complain about your situation; respond with the Word. That’s Christianity. That’s the life of faith: the response of the human spirit to God’s Word. When you hear the Word of God, give it a response. Your confession of the Word is your response to the Word, and that’s what will change your life and circumstances. Praise God forever!

CONFESSION

I’m living the life of continuous victory. I refuse to be discouraged or subject to the crippling principles of the world, for I live far and above them. The Lord has brought me into a large place, a place of wealth in abundance. I’m a success; I win today and every day, because the greater One lives in me. Blessed be God!

Junior Guerra (4-5) gave up Jose Peraza’s second career leadoff homer and Jesse Winker’s two-run shot while We’ve written about Mike Mayock and his tendency to over or under-evaluate potential NFL talent before. He’s been way off in some cases, but at least he’s better than the Todd McShay’s or Mel Kiper’s of the world. Still, unlike many others http://www.brownsauthorizedshops.com/aut...ert-jersey , when Mayock is wrong, he is really wrong. When you have a job on TV like that, the name of the game is hyperbole, something that can be difficult when you’re genuinely good at your job. We’re all guilty of it every now and then, and Mayock is no different. So for this article, we decided to take a look at a few circumstances when Mayock so overhyped a player it makes him look absolutely ridiculous, and leaves you scratching your head. You can bet that time he said Blaine Gabbert would be better than Cam Newton would be on this list, as that might be the biggest draft evaluation mistake in NFL history this side of the Peyton Manning/Ryan Leaf debate. See?Get ready to see other cases of Mayock getting way to high on someone’s gym sock sweat, like with Manti Te’o or Aaron Curry. You remember a guy named Limas Sweed? Well, Mayock probably hopes you don’t.

MIAMI (AP) — The Miami Dolphins are turning to their AFC East nemesis for help.New England Patriots linebackers coach Brian Flores is a finalist in the Dolphins’ coaching search http://www.bengalscheapstore.com/renell-...rsey-cheap , a person familiar with the decision said Friday, and they’re expected to offer him the job when his team’s postseason ends. The person confirmed the decision to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Dolphins weren’t commenting publicly about the status of the search. If they fail to reach a deal with Flores, they haven’t ruled out Dallas Cowboys secondary coach Kris Richard.Flores has been a Patriots assistant for 11 seasons and took over defensive play-calling a year ago after the departure of defensive coordinator Matt Patricia. In Miami he would replace Adam Gase, who was fired after three seasons and hired Wednesday as coach of the New York Jets.New England plays the Los Angeles Chargers in the AFC playoffs Sunday. The Dolphins have been also-rans to the first-place Patriots in the AFC East 15 of the past 16 years.Dolphins owner Stephen Ross and general manager Chris Grier zeroed in on Flores after interviewing two Dolphins assistants Friday: special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi and offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains. Both were considered long shots.Ross and Grier earlier interviewed New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Dennis Allen and Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.Miami has finished with six to eight wins in nine of the past 10 years, and hasn’t won a playoff game since 2000. As a result, the 78-year-old Ross said the Dolphins will abandon their win-now approach and build with the long term in mind.A roster revamp is expected to include the departure of quarterback Ryan Tannehill Michael Jordan Jersey , who has been with the team since 2012. The next coach, who will report to Grier, will be Miami’s 10th since 2004, including three interim coaches. While the NFL Draft may be the offseason transaction period where the bread and butter of every successful franchise is built, the free agency period can add just as many quality players to a team, if maneuvered correctly. Unfortunately http://www.raidersauthorizedshops.com/au...row-jersey , history tells us that in the NFL, many teams overpay and overestimate the quality of their free agent targets. It's been happening for years, and the concept of a free agent bust is not a rare or curious one. To no surprise, there were numerous teams that got burnt with poor production from their free agent acquisitions from 2016.There is no singular answer as to why these players didn't work out. Sometimes a player doesn't fare as well in a new system, and other times their role is diminished due to an oversaturation of personnel at the position they player. No matter the case, there were plenty of players in the NFL this year who were supposed to have big years with their new teams. Instead Zach Brown Jersey , they fell flat, and never lived up to the handsome contracts they received. Free agent busts are just another reason the NFL is such a cutthroat league, and ensures that no acquisition, for any team, is guaranteed to be successful.Ranked below are the top 15 free agent flops from the 2016 NFL season.

FLOWERY BRANCH Zach Brown Jersey , Ga. (AP) — Scott Pioli stepped down Thursday after more than five years as assistant general manager of the Atlanta Falcons, the latest front-office change for a team coming off a disappointing season.“I am ready for a change,” he said in a statement released by the team.Pioli said he had intended to spend only two or three years working under Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff. He thanked the team for giving him a chance to carry on his career after he was fired as Kansas City’s general manager following a dismal 2-14 season in 2012.“I came in to work closely with Thomas on personnel structure, processes and decisions,” Pioli said. “I loved the concept, was confident I could provide value and have enjoyed the challenge.”Now Kyler Murray Jersey , he’s ready “to pursue other potential opportunities.” His departure comes one day after Mike Maccagnan was fired as general manager of the New York Jets, a team that Pioli worked for as director of pro personnel from 1997-2000.Dimitroff described the 54-year-old Pioli as a “dear friend” who has “not only provided tremendous value to me, but to the entire the Falcons organization.”Pioli departs the Falcons following a 7-9 season and shake-up in the front office.Longtime scout Shepley Heard has taken over as director of pro personnel from Joel Collier, who is now serving as a national scout. Collier spent the last three years as Atlanta’s director of pro personnel. Before that, he worked under Pioli in Kansas City as the assistant GM.Dimitroff indicated that more changes are coming for a team that made the Super Bowl during the 2016 season.“We are continuing to assess the structure within our organization and move forward with our next steps,” he said.Pioli was Kansas City’s GM from 2009-12. Prior to that Byron Murphy Jersey , he worked for nearly a decade with Bill Belichick in New England’s personnel department. The Chiefs won the AFC West title in 2010 — their only playoff appearance during Pioli’s tenure — but his regime was marred by allegations that he maintained a toxic work environment based on secrecy and intimidation, including suspicions expressed by coach Todd Haley that his personal cellphone had been tampered with before he was fired.Late in the 2012 season, Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher killed his girlfriend before taking his own life at the team’s training facility in front of Pioli and other team officials. FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets have signed former Baltimore and Green Bay running back Ty Montgomery, giving them some versatility and depth in the backfield behind Le’Veon Bell. The 26-year-old Montgomery ran for 188 yards and one touchdown on 41 carries in 13 games with the Ravens and Packers last season. He also had 10 catches for 65 yards.Montgomery was drafted by Green Bay in the third round out of Stanford as a wide receiver in 2015, but switched to running back in his second season. The Packers traded him to the Ravens last October for a 2020 seventh-round pick.Montgomery has rushed for 932 yards and seven TDs in his career Andy Isabella Jersey , averaging 4.9 yards per carry. He also has 107 catches for 892 yards and three scores. Montgomery could also help on special teams, averaging 22.7 yards on 35 career returns. The Jets signed Bell last month to be their lead running back, but now also have Montgomery, Elijah McGuire, Trenton Cannon and De’Angelo Henderson on the roster as potential backups.

HOUSTON (AP) — The former security coordinator for the Houston Texans has filed a discrimination complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Parris Campbell Jersey , alleging his firing by the team was racially motivated.Jeff Pope, who worked for the team for nearly three years, was dismissed last month. The 11-page complaint was provided to The Associated Press by his attorney, N. Lucy Chukwurah. In it, Pope alleged that former Texans general manager Brian Gaine unjustly initiated the firing of Pope and eight other black employees during his 17 months on the job.Gaine was abruptly let go last week . The Texans said his dismissal was unrelated to Pope’s claim, but spokeswoman Amy Palcic said the team would not comment specifically on pending litigation. Palcic added: “The Houston Texans do not tolerate personal or professional discrimination of any kind.”This has been a tumultuous offseason for the team’s front office. ESPN.com reported this week the Patriots had filed tampering charges against the Texans for illegally contacting New England director of player personnel Nick Caserio for their GM vacancy.According to the report, the Patriots complained after Texans executive vice president of team development Jack Easterby, a former Patriots chaplain, attended the team’s Super Bowl championship ring ceremony at the home of owner Robert Kraft. The Texans fired Gaine the next day. METAIRIE, La. (AP) — When Saints star running back Alvin Kamara walked out to Thursday’s minicamp practice wearing reserve quarterback Teddy Bridgewater’s red practice jersey, teammates including Drew Brees were amused. They also found it fitting, given the dynamism and versatility Kamara has come to embody in his prolific first two NFL seasons.“He’s definitely a guy that could probably get out there and do it; that’s the scary thing http://www.coltsauthorizedshops.com/auth...eke-jersey ,” Brees said of Kamara playing quarterback. “He’s such a phenomenal athlete — and he always talks about wanting to throw the ball.”Kamara rules out very little when it comes to what he might do next to provide a new wrinkle to New Orleans’ already prolific offense. He also sounds very open to trying new things — whether in his training, diet or on the field.“That’s where the anxiety comes from with me; it’s not a bad anxiety, but a good anxiety — like, I’m anxious to see: What else?” Kamara said. “Where else could I line up? What else could I do? How else could I be successful?”Kamara has been one of New Orleans’ top two rushers and receivers in each of his two pro seasons since the Saints made him a third-round draft choice out of Tennessee. He was the Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2017, when he had 1,554 yards and 13 touchdowns from scrimmage (728 yards and eight TDs rushing, 826 yards and five TDs receiving) to go with a 106-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. And there was no sophomore slump. Last season, he gained 1,592 yards and scored 18 TDs from scrimmage (883 yards and 14 TDs rushing, 709 yards and four TDs receiving).Improving on that kind of production year after year is a challenge, but Kamara says he’s determined to adopt offseason goals that give him a chance to do so — and to evolve as a player.“Anything new, anything one of my teammates has to lend me Khari Willis Jersey , like some advice or somebody with some experience in the field of nutrition or strength or training — I try to take little gems from everybody,” Kamara said. “Changing diets and looking for new things to get faster, stronger, get in better shape — I’m looking for all of it.”Certain unusual elements of Kamara’s offseason workouts have become sensations on social media. This offseason, he could be seen catching a three-pronged HECOstix with each hand while standing on a BOSU ball .Kamara describes his balance as “pretty elite,” and that was a workout designed to keep it that way.During the 2018 offseason, there was a popular video of the 5-foot-10, 215-pound Kamara pulling a Jeep attached to a harness around his waist while balancing weights on his shoulders.Meanwhile, Kamara has sought to emulate his record-setting quarterback’s mental approach to the game.“My rookie year — everybody says it was easy — I’m like, ‘Man, look, there was sometimes I was out there Josh Allen Jersey , I didn’t know what was going on,'” Kamara said. “I kind of took a step back and was like, ‘All right, well, if I want to be the best, then I got to know what the best knows, and I think Drew is probably one of, if not the smartest people playing football right now.”Brees calls Kamara “inquisitive.”“There’s a level of awareness with him that I think that’s unique,” Brees said. “He picks up on things very quickly. I think that’s unique. And so then combine that with exceptional athletic skills and you get the player that he is.”Saints coach Sean Payton touts Kamara’s “real, real, exceptionally high football IQ” and even gave the running back a fidget spinner as a funny, friendly way of saying he realized Kamara might need something to occupy himself while coaches are explaining things to his teammates.“He can get bored with it http://www.jaguarsauthorizedshops.com/au...lor-jersey , and that’s why we give him one of those,” Payton deadpanned.Perhaps this season, coaches could have Kamara spinning footballs instead.Payton, known as one of the NFL’s more inventive play designers, affirmed his belief in Kamara’s throwing ability, recalling a touchdown pass the running back threw at Tennessee out of a “wildcat” formation. The throw was “like a tight end pop pass that was pretty good,” Payton said. But the coach also stressed there’s good reason to avoid too much tinkering with the running and receiving plays Kamara has executed so well the past couple of seasons.“Some of the stuff he does extremely well now — that still sells,” Payton said. “That’s still really, really good.”Notes: Brees said missing two voluntary practices last week and one mandatory practice this week to testify in his lawsuit alleging fraud against a San Diego jeweler was “Very tough.” Brees added, “Obviously I’m quarterback of his football team and I want to be with the team, but unfortunately there were things that were a bit out of our control that we had to take care of. So take care of that and take life as it comes.”

'Say what you said of the Bible about the Quran and see what would become of you'' - Reno Omokri dares Literary critic, Ikhide Ikheloa

Reno Omokri has reacted to the post made by Literary critic, Ikhide Ikheloa, criticizing the bible.

Ikhide in a post he shared on his Facebook page yesterday July 17th, criticized Africans for still believing in the Bible and the 'White man's God.' He opined that the Bible "is a great work of fiction" and "a tool of oppression created by feuding brothers to oppress women, children, and the vulnerable."

Reacting to Ikhide's post, Reno via his Twitter handle, said the literary critic is under the influence of his father, Satan. According to Omokri, Ikhide should say the same things he said about the bible, about the Quaran and see what happens to him.

Kyoto Animation fire: Arson attack at Japan anime studio kills 33

An arson attack at Kyoto Animation studio in Japan on Thursday morning July 18th, reportedly killed at least 33 people and left 36 others injured.

The 41-year-old suspect shouting “You die" as he broke into the studio spraying petrol before igniting it, was also hurt and taken to a hospital. Though the motive of the attack is yet to be established, however it was gathered that most victims of the incident were employees at Kyoto Animation, which does work on feature films and TV productions but is best known for  "Free!", manga series "K-On!", the anime TV adaptation of "Haruhi Suzumiya" and "Violet Evergarden" which Netflix picked up in 2018.

Offering condolence over the incident, Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe described it as "too appalling for words". About 48 fire engines have been dispatched to the area and are currently trying to get the fire under control. Firefighters found 33 bodies, 20 of them on the third floor and some on the stairs to the roof, where they apparently collapsed while trying to get out, Kyoto fire official Kazuhiro Hayashi said. Two were found dead on the first floor, 11 others on the second floor, he said.

Kyoto Animation, better known as KyoAni, was founded in 1981 as an animation and comic book production studio. Though it does not have a major presence outside Japan, it was hired to do secondary animation work on a 1998 “Pokemon” feature that appeared in U.S. theaters and a “Winnie the Pooh” video.

Dancing is better than looting treasury - Adeleke replies Governor Oyetola

Ademola Adeleke has reacted to Governor Gboyega Oyetola's comment of feeling ridiculed to contest in an election which he, the dancing senator was part of.

We reported that the Osun State Governor while receiving the leadership of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) led by Yemi Farounbi in his office on July 17, 2019, suggested that Adeleke ought to have been screened out of the governorship race.

Reacting to the comment credited to Governor Oyetola, Ademola Adeleke stated that dancing is better than looting the treasury, especially when praising God. He further alleged that the Osun State Governor who defeated him in a recent Supreme Court face-off, was the chief enabler of the most corrupt, inept and anti-people administration in the history of the state.

Quote:The statement reads "Osun people know that I am not the facilitator and prime partaker in the looting of the state treasury. For more than eight years, Gboyega Oyetola was the chief enabler of the most corrupt, inept and anti-people administration in the history of Osun state.
"What is more shameful in Yoruba land than theft? I dare Oyetola to walk the streets of Osun alongside me and see who will get mobbed and stoned by the embittered citizens of our dear state. The people had voted the honest dancer and rejected the false progressives who had ruined the fortunes of Osun state and sentenced generations unborn to excruciating debt burden.
"Osun people will remember that immediately after the apex court ruling, I issued a press statement congratulating Oyetola and restraining our members and supporters from violence and anti-peace actions.
"I claim credit for restoring normalcy, peace and stability to Osun state after the protracted governorship battle. At a time Oyetola and his band of usurpers were at a loss on how to manage the usurpation and its resultant tension in the land, I deployed diplomacy, putting the safety of our people above all considerations despite the blatant robbery you now call electoral loss.
"Let me remind Oyetola that his records as chief of staff to Rauf Aregbesola clearly confirmed his incompetence as an administrator but shows his competence at treasury looting and hardship imposition.
"Workers are still being owed with the wicked half salary designed by Oyetola still in operation. Pensioners are still being owed their gratuities and benefits. The many abandoned projects which had been fully or mostly paid for still litter the state, the MKO Abiola Aiport remains a jungle with no single structure standing despite N26bn purportedly wasted on the project is of many examples.

The yet-to-be-identified expatriate engineer, who works with Al Madal Construction Company, was inspecting the construction of Ikot Ibritam, Inen Ekeffe, and Odoro Ikot to Ukanafun road project when the gun-wielding men struck.

An eyewitness, Friday Idiok, said the soldiers were killed while escorting the expatriate on routine inspection of the road project.

Quote:“The gunmen also escaped with the soldiers’ guns and took the expatriate to their hideout. Everybody here is in panic. We do not know what the government will do in this matter,” Mr Idiok said.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Akwa Ibom police command, Odiko Macdon, told newsmen that investigations into the incident has commenced.
Quote:“We have received information about the unfortunate dastardly incident at the road project in Ikot Ibritam, Inen Ekeffe leading to Ukanafun. We are working with our sister agencies to identity, arrest and prosecute those involved”, police spokesman said.
Meanwhile thre remains of the soldiers have been deposited in the state morgue.

RUGA: Fulani Not Planning To Install Emirs in Enugu, Asaba - MURIC
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 07-18-2019, 09:49 PM - No Replies

Quote:The Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, has cautioned Nigerians against politicizing the suspended Federal Government Rural Grazing Reserved Area, otherwise known as RUGA, for herdsmen.

The Islamic human rights organization, which gave the warning through its Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola on Thursday, said; “Nigerians should stop listening to rogue politicians.”

The group noted that there was nothing like Fulanis planning to install Emir of Oshogbo, Emir of Enugu or Emir of Asaba. It is all balderdash, adding that these are false alarms being raised by unscrupulous politicians and expired demagogues.

The group observed, “For decades in this country, we have always had Seriki Hausawa in almost all the cities of the South just as we have always had In a Yoruba and Igwe of the Igbo in almost all the cities of Northern Nigeria.

These were mere symbolic leaders of those tribal groups residing in states and cities other than their own. They were there for ease of administration and inter-tribal relations and they peacefully co-existed with their host communities.

“But suddenly rogue politicians and merchants of hate speech began inciting Nigerians against Northerners, particularly Fulanis and herdsmen. All sorts of crimes were ascribed to them, especially kidnapping and armed robbery. It is as if the Oyenusis among the Yoruba have suddenly disappeared while the Evans among the Igbo have melted away like ice cream in the desert sun.”

MURIC said the views of people amounts to gross mischief and incalculable disservice to humanity to use this as a reason for rejecting the RUGA plan.

“RUGA, which means rural grazing area is being misinterpreted to gullible Nigerians as an attempt by Northerners to install Emirs in the South or an attempt by them to invade Southern communities. This is far from the truth,” the group explained.

MURIC condemned the politicization of RUGA. “We frown at the stereotype of any ethnicity or group of persons anywhere in the world, particularly Nigeria.

“All tribes have their own share of criminals just as there are decent and industrious citizens among all ethnicities. We are alarmed at the rate of deception, outright lies and make-beliefs cal slated at inciting Southerners against Fulanis and Hausas,” it added.

MURIC called on Southerners to resist political charlatans who are out to spread hate and ignite widespread hostilities.

It advised, “We call on Southerners to think out of the box as there are many angles to the concept of RUGA. For instance, we can start looking at the quantity of cattle sales in a place like Lagos where about 6,000 cows are slaughtered daily. This is big business for crying out loud.

“Any visionary governor from the South will accept the RUGA policy purely for economic reasons. We cannot afford to remain naive and blinded by ethnic jingoism. 10 per cent commission to the State coffers is not pittance especially as it runs into billions of naria.

“As we fold our mats, we charge Southern governors to think more of the economic gains of RUGA and not the rumoured, unfounded and quixotic installation of emirs in Southern communities. It is a farce.

We should be looking at the message, not the messenger. We call on Southerners to ignore disgruntled politicians and stop idolizing demons. Nigeria needs unity now more than ever before and this is why we must move closer to all non-indigenes residing or doing business in our communities.”

El-zakzaky, Dasuki Must Not Die In Detention – HURIWA Warns Buhari
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 07-18-2019, 09:48 PM - No Replies

Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, on Thursday cautioned President Muhammadu Buhari against allowing former National Security Adviser, NSA, Sambo Dasuki and the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, IMN, Ibraheem El-Zakzaky to die in detention.

This was as HURIWA pleaded with world leaders to prevail on Buhari to respect the courts by releasing Dasuki and El-Zakzaky who have “languished in underground jails for over three years extralegally.”

HURIWA stated that the, “continuous detention and duplication of charges against the duo by President Muhammadu Buhari is an act of treason against the constitution,” adding that “it is necessary that they are not allowed to die in detention following reports of their deteriorating health conditions.”

In a statement by its National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko entitled “El-Zakzaky, Dasuki must not die in detention,” the Rights group also condemned the order by the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Adamu for restricting members of IMN to the Unity Foundation in Abuja.

HURIWA wondered how Adamu whose office was a creation of the constitution has assumed the “ultra vires power of overruling the constitution and the Courts of competent jurisdiction.”

The statement reads: “HURIWA condemned the illegal order issued by Mr. Adamu Mohammed the inspector general of police restricting public protests to only within the confines of unity fountain in Abuja as against the clear provisions of the constitution in chapter four and provisions of the constitution guaranteeing the fundamental freedoms of movement and peaceful assembly, including the binding Appellate` court’s verdict clearly stating that police don’t have any legal right to stop protests and against the most cherished values of constitutional democracy built around the tripod of freedom of speech, freedom of association and freedom of movement which are even guaranteed by a plethora of global human rights laws.

“Specifically, we express disbelief that the rest of the developed world had looked on as president Buhari has unleashed venoms and vicious attacks against protesters and has adopted extra-legal measures to detain citizens against binding decisions of the courts of competent jurisdiction as empowered by section 36(5) and section (6) which states: “Every person who is charged with a criminal offence shall be presumed to be

“Innocent until he is proved guilty;

“Provided that nothing in this section shall invalidate any law by reason only that the law imposes upon any such person the burden of proving particular facts.”

HURIWA stated that the President can’t overrule the constitutionally guaranteed judicial powers of the federation conferred on the courts in accordance with section six as follows: “The judicial powers of the federation is vested in the courts of competent jurisdictions and section 36(6) that “Every person who is charged with a criminal offence shall be entitled to

“(a) be informed promptly in the language that he understands and in detail of the nature of the offence;

“(b) be given adequate time and facilities for the preparation of his defence;

“© defend himself in person or by legal practitioners of his own choice;

“(d) examine, in person or by his legal practitioners, the witnesses called by the prosecution before any court or tribunal and obtain the attendance and carry out the examination of witnesses to testify on his behalf before the court or tribunal on the same conditions as those applying to the witnesses called by the prosecution; and

“(e) have, without payment, the assistance of an interpreter if he cannot understand the language used at the trial of the offence.

“We are shocked that whilst constitutional democracy gradually dies away in Nigeria due to deliberate whittling down of respect for human rights by the current administration, world leaders in U.S.A. and U.K. simply don’t care but pretend to be unaware of the global consequences of a deluge of refugees from Nigeria should democracy collapsed under the heavyweight of tyranny and totalitarianism of the current administration”.

Election petitions should be handled by retired Judges – Femi Falana

Femi Falana in a communique sent out on Thursday, advocated for election petitions to be handled by retired Judges as serving judges have been overburdened, leaving all matters pending in their courts to carry out national assignments.

The human rights activists pointed out the adjournment of court cases by over 350 Judges of the State High Courts, Federal High Court, and National Industrial Court, for a 'national assignment' which was never within their jurisdiction.

Femi Falana pushed for a review of preference given to election petitions and appeals, and further stated that such cases are not handled by regular courts in neighbouring countries but by constitutional courts.

Quote:The statement reads “Over 350 Judges drawn from State High Courts, Federal High Court, and National Industrial Court and handling election petitions have adjourned all matters pending in their courts’ sine die. Their Lordships and Ladyships are said to have left their jurisdictions for “national assignment” in other parts of the country.
“Apart from appeals arising from pre-election cases and election petitions, both the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court are adjourning all pending appeals till 2020 and 2021. The vacation of the Justices of the Court of Appeal has been cancelled to enable them to handle election-related appeals.
“Since all litigants are equal before the law it is high time the preference given to election petitions and appeals by Nigerian courts was reviewed. In some neighbouring African countries, election petitions are not handled by regular courts but by constitutional courts.
“It is therefore suggested that the Constitution be amended to allow retired judges to handle election petitions and appeals arising from them. If our retired judges can handle arbitral matters and participate in judicial commissions of enquiry they should be saddled with the responsibility to handle election petitions and appeals arising from them.
“The injustice meted out to litigants whose cases are not political by the legal system should stop forthwith in the interest of justice”.

N22b Paris cash: EFCC seizes passports of 34 top ex-Kwara State officials

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has seized the passports of 34 top officials who served under former Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed over a N22 billion London-Paris Club refund.

Ten of them have been watch-listed to prevent them from fleeing the country, it was learnt yesterday.

The N22billion covers the N21billion drawn from the refund and the N1billion allegedly intercepted by the EFCC during the February/March elections. There are four cases on alleged mismanagement of billions of naira by some ex-office holders in the state.

Quote:A top source, who spoke in confidence, said: “There are monumental cases of fraud already uncovered in Kwara State during the tenure of the ex-governor. We may need to call for reinforcement to be able to conduct the different dimensions of the ongoing probe. So far, we have seized the international passports of 34 former commissioners and top government functionaries during the administration of ex-Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.
“Out of the 34, about 10 former officers have been watch-listed to prevent them from escaping abroad. And if they travel out, we can effect their arrest in any jurisdiction. The list of the short-listed suspects has been sent to the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) to prevent them from acquiring new passports.”

In a statement yesterday, EFCC’s Head of Media & Publicity Tony Orilade said the agency’s Ilorin Zonal Office “has submitted the particulars of individuals on its watch-list and under investigations in the state to the Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS, Kwara State Command.  It said the Acting EFCC Chairman Ibrahim Magu made this known through the Ilorin Zonal Head of the Commission Isyaku Sharu during a visit by the Comptroller of Immigration Service, Kwara State Command Edith Onyemenam.

The statement quoted Magu as saying those whose passports were seized had been trying to procure police reports to deceive the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) to issue them new passports. Magu said:
Quote:“The need to familiarise the NIS with the particulars of such personalities under EFCC’s investigation became necessary following intelligence at the disposal of the commission that some highly-placed individuals undergoing corruption probe and on the commission’s watch-list in the state have procured forged police reports with which they plan to apply for new international passports to escape from the country.
“Information at the disposal of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Ilorin reveals that these highly placed individuals are planning to use forged police reports to re-apply for new international passports to flee the country in other to escape prosecution and justice. The commission urges you to use your good office to place these individuals under strict surveillance.”

Tinubu, Defender Of The Fulani By Abimbola Adelakun
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 07-18-2019, 12:52 PM - No Replies

Quote:Abimbola Adelakun

This is, undoubtedly, a difficult time for Afenifere leader, Baba Reuben Fasoranti. He has suffered a grievous loss of his daughter, Funke Olakunrin, in untoward circumstances. The loss of one’s child is a painful and traumatic experience. My prayer for him and his family is to find strength at this trying time.

Now, the death of Mrs Olakunrin is bad enough; the politicisation of the grief is grossly unfair to the family of the deceased. We have always known that some of our leaders have bad manners, but this incident has further exposed them as lacking the ethic of charity. When the news of the death was first announced, the President’s media aide, Femi Adesina, hastily jumped on Twitter to say her killers were “those described as armed robbers by Ondo State Police Command.” Adesina cared little about the deceased; his obsession about roughening up the narrative was to preempt people’s angst that would be directed at his paymasters. If he cared about the poor woman and he respected the Fasoranti family, he would have hesitated and not tried to stuff words in the mouth of the police. The bereaved family not only have to contend with their pain, they also have to deal with the irritation of their daughter’s name being evoked each time we bring up the petty politics of shameless politicians who are using the sad incident to burnish their credentials as bona fide national leaders.

One of these Job’s comforters is the All Progressives Congress leader and former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, who answered some journalists’ questions during his visit to the Fasoranti family. First, he downplayed the circumstances of Olakunrin’s death by suggesting that she could have died in a road accident if it was duly fated. This line of reasoning is about one of the most uncharitable things one can say to the hearing of a bereaved family and, frankly, unbecoming of someone who wears the label of an elder. Such misspeaks bolster my conviction that the withdrawal of the permanent pass that some folk have awarded themselves as Yoruba leaders is long overdue for withdrawal. However manner Olakunrin might have died, the fact remains that she was killed and allegedly by herdsmen. To even overlook the circumstances of her death, sidestep the tense reactions by the exasperated populace, and begin to meander logic through bush paths is moral cowardice.

For a while now, Nigeria has been in a difficult situation because of the activities of killer herdsmen. Mind you, these herdsmen have been labelled as the fourth deadliest terrorist group in the world by the Global Terrorism Index. They have carried out massacres in rural and agrarian communities, and have been emboldened enough by the slackness of state security forces to move into urban settings. Tinubu only needs to go to rural areas in southwestern Nigeria, and his ears will be filled with stories of assault, kidnapping, and vicious murder. People are no longer at ease. They have lost their lives and entire investments in farming to the herdsmen menace. Those that have survived deadly encounters live in fear of the herdsmen. The fact that death is cheap in Nigeria does not mean we should refuse to label an issue for what it is. There is a context to the suspicion that Olakunrin might have been killed by herdsmen; why try to obfuscate matters by pointing out other ways she could have died? Why not just tell the bereaved you are sorry and go home?

The herdsmen nuisance got to the point that Adesina told Benue people to yield their land to their killers or continue to lose their lives. How can anyone look at all of these stories – including the “your land or your life” propositions to the poor hapless and undefended Nigerians – and merely shrug and say death could have come by a road accident anyway? We all know death is inevitable, but nobody throws their life outside the window for the fun of it. Otherwise, why does Tinubu himself travel with an armed escort and in a bulletproof vehicle too? Why can he not test his fate by stripping himself of the paraphernalia of defence and let’s see what happens?

While responding to the press, Tinbu tried to deflect, engaged in a rhetorical strategy called ‘whataboutism’ for no other discernable reason than not wanting to address the hippopotamus on his laps. The question at hand was the issue of insecurity – the kidnappings and killings by herdsmen – but somehow, he managed to drag in another issue entirely when he alluded to the alleged kidnapper, Evans, who was arrested a while ago. What has Evans’ kidnapping career got to do with herdsmen who did not even start their crimes with kidnapping but massacres and displacement of poor villagers whose farms they raided? Why stop at Evans when he could equally have raised other issues such as Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo’s pending lawsuit and even climate change? He even threatened to give us a history of kidnapping to show us that what we are presently dealing with is an imitation of the criminal proclivity of southerners.

All of the above bring me to the point that baffled me most and which summarises all of the rhetorical acrobatics he did at the Fasoranti’s house: the needless defence of the Fulani by Tinubu. By now, everyone would have noticed that the most strident defence of the Fulani over the herdsmen issue has come from southerners, particularly the Yoruba. On the question of whether the Fulani deserve the stereotype of cold-blooded killers or not, the Yoruba people have wept louder than the bereaved. The Fulani themselves are an ethnic group with enough power to take over the media in their own defence, but they do not do so. Today, the Fulani are resented, and not just because of the herdsmen issue but also because of the clannishness and tribalism of President Muhammadu Buhari who has more or less driven collective benefits in the direction of a selected class. Why have they not refuted the narrative about them, considering that they have the necessary clout to challenge the demonising of their ethnic identity? They can use the airwaves and other media forms to vehemently denounce the herdsmen who attack undefended populations. They can rebuke Miyetti Allah group over their inflammatory statements, and also condemn the actions of reprobate groups such as the Coalition of Northern Groups who gave governors a 30-day ultimatum to enforce RUGA and students of Usman Dan Fodio University who insisted that RUGA must be established in all the 36 states of Nigeria.

They are so many crisis-management strategies the Fulani ethnic group can deploy to manage their image being battered all over Nigeria because of the spate of herdsmen attacks. If the Fulani themselves are not engaged in activities to refurbish their image, it is because they are too self-secure in their political power and privileges to be bothered about the long-term implications of ethnic stigmatisation. They probably also do not concern themselves so much with pushing back against stereotypes because their lackeys in the South run those errands on their behalf.

Tinubu, in rounding off the interview, made a rather curious statement cum question, “I don’t want to be political, but I will ask, where are the cows?” If by that he means that the crime of murder could not have been committed by herdsmen because there were no cows at the crime scene, it means he has reached the end of reasoning. I do not want to be political either, but the question of where the cows are has already been answered by none other than Tinubu himself. The cows are everywhere. If some people look into their mirror, they will find those cows staring back at them in all their bovine glory.

Man Gets Robbed After Giving A Stranger A Lift In Lagos. This Happened Next

Quote:A man got the shock of his life today, after giving a young guy, who's a total stranger a lift on his way to Google office from Berger to Ikoyi, Lagos.

On reaching a junction, the said young guy alighted from the man's car with his laptop, without him noticing.

Immediately he noticed his bag was empty, he hurriedly came down from his car and gave the thief a hot chase only for the guy to be shouting "kidnappers, kidnappers".

The thief was later cramped and dealt with by some irate youths in the area.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

THURSDAY, 18TH JULY.

THREE IMPORTANT QUESTIONS

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6).

People ask three important questions. Sometimes, they ask audibly or in their hearts. The first of these questions is about eternal life; we see this in Luke 18:18, where a certain ruler asked Jesus, “…Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” The ruler obviously knew something about eternal life; he was a Jew, and he heard Jesus preach about it and wanted to know more about it.

The second question is found in John 18:38. Jesus, at this time, had been arrested and brought before Pilate, upon being charged with blasphemy. The Bible says, “Pilate saith unto him, What is truth?...” What a question! Pilate asked Jesus that question because of what Jesus said to him in the preceding verse. Let’s read: “Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a King then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a King. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should testify to the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice” (John 18:37).

The third important question is found in John 14:5, and it was asked by one of His disciples, Thomas. He said, “…Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?” It’s like what many say today: “There’re so many ways to God; how do we know which one is right? There’re so many churches, how can we know the true ones?”

The Lord Jesus answered all of these three questions in John 14:6. He said, “…I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Notice the definite article, “THE”; He didn’t say, “I’m a way, a truth, and a life.” He used the definite article, meaning this is it! There’s no other. He took away every opportunity for options. He could have said, “I’m one of the ways,” but He didn’t say that. He said, “I AM the way. I AM the truth. I AM the life.” Glory to His Name forever!

If you understand this, it’ll change your whole world; your life will be completely altered. The boldness you’d exude and the results of your life will be outstanding and astounding. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Blessed Jesus, you’re the Way, the Truth and the Life; besides you, there’s no other. How glorious it is to know that I’m complete in you, lacking nothing and in need of nothing. You’re my everything; and to you alone be all glory, honour and praise forevermore. Amen.

Justice J. K. Omotosho of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, yesterday July 17th, sentenced two internet fraudsters to one year imprisonment each after they pleaded guilty to committing crimes relating to internet fraud.

The convicts are Obanore Edson Ehimen and Paul Odion Oghiator. They were arraigned on a one count charge respectively for offences bordering on obtaining by false pretence and impersonation. Specifically, Oghiator on Facebook impersonated the identity of James Minh, an American and subsequently sent documents to unsuspecting ladies with intent to defraud them.

According to a statement from the EFCC, the charge against Ogiator reads: "That you Paul Odion Oghiator (Alias James Minh) sometime between 2018 and June 2019 in Warri, Delta State within the jurisdiction of this honourable court did fraudulently impersonate in your FaceBook account the identity of one James Minh, an American and sends documents to unsuspecting ladies through the internet with documents you claim emanated from the said James Minh with the internet to obtain money from the ladies and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 22(2)(b)(ii) of the Cybercrimes (prohibition, prevention etc) Act 2015 and punishable under Section 22(2)(b)(iv) of the same Act”.

When the charge was read, the defendants pleaded guilty.

In view of their plea, prosecution counsel, Fredrick Dibang told the court to convict and sentence the defendants in accordance with the plea bargain agreement between the prosecution and defence counsel.

Justice Omotosho consequently sentenced the defendants to 12 months imprisonment each. The court also ruled that Ehimen forfeits the sum of N620,000 (Six hundred and Twenty thousand naira) in his GT Bank account to the Federal government of Nigeria while Oghiator was fined the sum of Two hundred thousand naira.

Suspect says they killed NBA chairman for withholding N18m Internet fraud proceeds

Kenechukwu Eze, a member of the gang that killed Emmanuel Agundu, the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Udenu branch on September 2, 2018, has revealed that they shot him because he withheld the N18m they realised from Internet fraud.

Being before killed after he was trailed by gunmen to Uru-Uwani Edem in the Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu state, the late NBA chairman was first shot on August 15, 2018, at Obollo-Afor in the Udenu Local Government Area of the state by unidentified gunmen around 7pm, but  he survived the attack.

The state's Commissioner of Police, Suleiman Balarabe paraded the 39-year-old native member of the Amoli Edem in the Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State and member of the five-man gang of Internet fraudsters based in Morocco alongside 18 others, following his arrest on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, by the personnel of the Enugu State Police Command with the help of credible intelligence.

Confessing to being a member of the gang that killed Emmanuel Agundu, Eze said the deceased whose job was to supply a bank account to pay the money they made from internet fraud, had threatened to report the gang to security agents.

Quote:He said, “I didn’t know the lawyer in person, but one of our members brought him to join us in the business. His job was to supply a bank account to pay the money we realised into.
“So, we paid a total of N18m into the account he supplied and when we asked him to provide the money, he rebuffed us. Instead of making the money available for us to share according to our agreed formula, he started threatening to report the matter to security agents. That was why we decided to end it once and for all.
“I was arrested because of the death of that lawyer that we did a fraudulent transaction together. He spent N18m and was killed because of that. The person, who shot him, is already in prison. We were five in number; Emmanuel Ebonyi, one Valentine and his younger brother, Agundu and I.
“It was an online business ,but the barrister supplied the account that we paid into. We paid a total of N18m into his account and he kept all the money.”

Doctors remove 33 objects including razor blades and a screwdriver from the stomach of a 30-year-old man

Doctors in India have removed 33 objects, including razors and knives, from the stomach of a 30-year old man identified as Yogesh Thakur,

Thakur was admitted to the hospital on July 14 after he complained of severe stomach pain. His mother, Kusma Thakur, told doctors her son would 'grab anything and eat it', leading them to conduct x-rays and doctors were stunned to find objects such as a knife, screwdriver, razor blades and plastic items inside Thakur's stomach.

Two days later, doctors extracted all the objects in an operation and Thakur, a part-time farmer, is now recovering and will receive psychiatric help.

Doctors said it's likely he suffers with acuphagia, a disorder in which people eat sharp or metal objects and other items they can't digest.  Acuphagia is a category of pica, an eating disorder whereby the person cannot help eating non-food items such as dirt, talcum powder or paint.

The Lagos State Police have arrested and arraigned two suspects,  Daniel Abah, 27, and Edwin Edache, 31 for stealing a Taxify driver’s car along the Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos.

The suspects from Benue state had boarded the vehicle to Ibeju-Lekki area of the state sometime last month, but ended the trip halfway by pouring petrol on the face of the driver for refusing to park the Toyota Corolla car and hand over the key to them.

Daniel Abah and Edwin Edache were arrested, after the car snatching incident was reported to the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Maroko Division. They were subsequently arraigned before the Igbosere Magistrates’ Court on three counts bordering on robbery, after they confessed to stealing the car and planning to sell it to raise money for a business.

However upon being arraigned before Magistrate S. Sasanya, the suspects pleaded not guilty and were granted a bail of N200,000 each with two sureties in like sum. Delay in ministerial appointments won’t affect 2020 budget – Senate President, Ahmad Lawan

The Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawan has said that delay in the submission of the ministerial list by President Muhammadu Buhari for screening won’t affect the National Assembly from giving Appropriation bill expeditious passage.

According to him, returning the national Budget’s fiscal cycle to January to December will be possible if the proposal gets to the National Assembly by September. He spoke with State House correspondents after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Quote:He said “I think there is nothing to worry us deeply. The budget itself is normally prepared by civil servants, the permanent secretaries superintend and the directors will work most of the time.
“I believe that we are still on course and I believe both the executive and the legislature are on the same page on this, we are desire and are prepared and determined to pass the budget by the first and second week December by the grace of God, provided it is presented to us end of September.” he said.
Asked his discussions with the President, Lawan said that they discussed those things that would “ensure that the people of Nigeria are better protected, the economy of Nigeria performs better to the inclusion of everyone in the country.”

Governance, he said, generally is set to achieve the set targets of providing security and welfare for Nigerians. He said that the National Assembly would collaborate and cooperate with the executive arm of government to uncover better approaches, improved paradigm in order to improve the current situations in the country.
Quote:Asked whether they discussed their security summit proposal with the President, he said “No, we haven’t discussed that. But you know that at the end of the day we are going to have a security summit that will be a collaboration between the two arms of government.
And this is essential because while we provide the legislative intervention that is required, the executive arm of government is the one that implements. So we have to work together and we will do that.” he stated.

President Buhari to herdsmen: Disregard Northern Elders forum's advice to vacate South

President Buhari has asked Fulani herdsmen residing in the Southern parts of the country to disregard the quit order issued to them by the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) yesterday July 16th.

A statement released on behalf of the President by the Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, in Abuja on Tuesday quoted the Buhari as saying:

Quote:“All citizens of Nigeria are free to move and live within any part of the country they please, whether or not they are originally from there. All citizens of Nigeria are free to move and live within any part of the country they please, whether or not they are originally from there.
"In line with our country's constitution, the government of Nigeria and the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari will protect citizens of Nigeria wherever they find themselves.
"No one has the right to ask anyone or group to depart from any part of the country, whether north, south, east or west," the President said.

Garba Shehu questioned the intentions of the NEF and the other so-called leaders in delving into issues with unsolicited, ill-intentioned advice.
Quote:"They have no one’s authority to make such pronouncements.
"The polarising role of the Northern Elders Forum and all those other groups dabbling into issues of security to score cheap political points has for long been a sore point in Nigeria’s body polity.
"They should not be allowed to mislead anyone, least of all the Fulani herders.
"The Buhari administration is fully devoted to finding a lasting solution to the herder-farmer clashes in different parts of Nigeria- one that would be acceptable to all the parties involved."
Recall that the NEF and the Coalition of the Northern Groups (CNGs) at a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, asked Fulani herdsmen to leave the southern part of Nigeria.  According to them, the herdsmen should return to the North where their safety and that of their property could be guaranteed.

Most Revd Geoffrey Okoroafor, the Anglican Bishop of Egbu Diocese in Owerri North on Wednesday warned against the RUGA settlement which he said is part of the Fulanisation and Islamisation agenda.

Bishop Okoroafor during the interactive session with journalists, warned South-East Governors against accepting the RUGA settlement proposal in whatever form so as not to witness same killings in Southern Kaduna, Plateau, Nasarawa, and Benue states. Noting that President Buhari might want to use Federal power to enforce the settlement, the Anglican Bishop stated that such move will worsen the insecurity across the country.

Quote:“This RUGA is an indirect Jihad and Fulanisation agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari and we as a church are vehemently opposed to it and I want to warn our South-East governors never to accept any such proposed RUGA or the National Livestock Transformation Programme.
“We don’t want what is currently happening in Southern Kaduna, Plateau, Benue, and Nasarawa states where Fulani herdsmen who were allowed to graze their cattle in those states are now laying claim to the lands" he said.

Bullied schoolboy lay on tracks and was killed by train as 50 classmates watched

A 14-year-old school boy, who had reportedly suffered bullying, lay down on tracks and was crushed to death by a train as classmates watched.

Sam Connor, a "bright and popular" pupil at Salesian School - a Roman Catholic comprehensive in Chertsey - died on Monday afternoon at Chertsey railway station, in Surrey.  He reportedly gave his school bag and mobile phone to a friend then slid off the platform and onto the tracks as horrified classmates watched a train kill him.

A passenger, known only as Lewis, 28, was travelling on the service from Chiswick and saw Sam get killed as the train came into the station.

Lewis told Dailymail: "The train stopped very suddenly with only one carriage alongside the platform. I thought maybe one of the kids had dropped their phone as they were all looking down at the wheels of the carriage.

"We saw some of the girls starting to cry; we saw some of the boys leaning down, literally on their knees, calling down between the train and the tracks, calling 'Sam, Sam'."

"That's when we realised something was wrong. There was a girl on phone, crying, trying to talk to the driver."

Lewis said when he realized they were from Salesian school he phoned the teachers to tell them what had happened. He added that the sight of the incident was so horrific that a student paremedic collapsed.

He said: "What was particularly harrowing was there was a student paramedic who passed through the train and down on the tracks to help the boy. When she got down there she collapsed and burst into tears – it was just the most harrowing thing."

The owner of a convenience store close to the Connor family home spoke of his shock at the teenager's death.

He described Sam as a "lovely, polite lad", who would come into the shop with his brother.

He added: "He was always so polite and a really lovely lad. I just can't believe what has happened."

Sam's friend Freddie-Joe Twine described Sam as one of the "nicest and charming" boys in their break-dancing class.

Several parents at the school said Sam was being bullied. One mother said her two daughters had told her Sam was being picked on.

Another mother said: "When I got the emails and texts from the school telling me what had happened I just burst into tears. I spoke with my daughters when they came home about what had happened. They said it was Sam and said everyone was talking about him being bullied.

"If this is true there has to be an investigation. How bad can it be that a 14-year-old boy wants to take his own life. I just cannot comprehend what he must have been feeling."

The family of Sam Connor have told of their devastation after their "sensitive little soul" lay down on tracks and was killed by a rush-hour train.

Speaking to Daily Mail, Deborah Barrett, first wife of Sam's father James, said: "It's just so sad. It's so awful, isn't it? My three girls are Sam's half sisters, they are all so upset.

"It's horrible. You can't imagine, can you? I've just spoken to my middle one and she said he just lay down on the tracks.

"He was a sensitive little soul, a cute little thing who was into gaming. He was funny and sarcastic with a great sense of humour.

"Although he was shy, we used to be able to make him laugh."

Deborah added: "This is so horrible for the family. They loved him, they were all quite close.

She continued: "There were six kids altogether, they are all quite close, the children, and Sam was the youngest.

"Sophie, my youngest daughter, rang me on Monday and told me what Sam had done, and said he'd been bullied at school. Then why weren't the school doing anything? It doesn't bear thinking about. It's awful."

But a school spokesman said they had "no record" of the boy being bullied and could make no further comment currently.

In a statement the British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to Chertsey station at 4pm yesterday (July 15) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended but sadly a 14-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

Graduates Of Benin Republic Universities Can't Write Any English Word -NYSC Dire

He stated that NYSC had begun investigations into the activities of the universities involved in the fraudulent practice.

Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim has accused universities in the Benin Republic of presenting unqualified persons for its one-year mandatory national service.

He stated that NYSC had begun investigations into the activities of the universities involved in the fraudulent practice.

In a statement by the NYSC Director, Press and Public Relations, Mrs. Adenike Adeyemi, Ibrahim was quoted as saying: “It is unfortunate that some institutions of higher learning, particularly in Cotonou, Benin Republic, present to us people who didn’t go through the four walls of the university as graduates for NYSC mobilization.

“We are presently investigating some of such so-called graduates, many of whom cannot write or spell any word in English.”

Adeyemi also revealed that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has pledged to support the NYSC in combating fraudulent mobilization of unqualified graduates for national service.

The EFCC had reportedly commended corps members for educating Nigerians on the dangers of corruption through the Anti-corruption Community Development Service Groups.

Adeyemi said the EFCC acting chairman, Ibrahim Magu, made the pledge when Brig.-Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim paid him a courtesy visit in his office recently at EFCC headquarters, Abuja.

She added that Magu condemned activities of unscrupulous persons who bring shame to the country through their desperate quest for wealth, including the sale of academic qualifications to unqualified graduates.

Tradermoni Records Success In The North Central
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 07-17-2019, 10:02 PM - No Replies

TraderMoni records success in the North Central

Jennifer Iorfa, a petty trader from Gboko, Benue state makes and sells the local guinea corn milk called ‘kunu’ in local parlance and fried yam at a government secondary school close to her house in Gboko. One night, she heard about a government loan on TV and wondered when or how she could benefit until one of the teams on the government project came to one of the popular markets in her state capital, Makurdi. She ensured she was enumerated to be a beneficiary of the loan. Afterwards, she received a confirmation text message and subsequently, the TraderMoni collateral free loan of N10,000. With this, she bought ingredients for her business in larger quantities which enabled her to sell more.

Jennifer made decent returns to improve the living conditions of her family and repaid her loan of N10,250 – the extra N250 been the administrative charges on the loan — from her profits. Immediately after her loan repayment was processed, she received a text message informing her that she has qualified for the next loan stage, which is N15,000.

“With this N15,000 loan, I will be able to make more kunu, sell more and pay back,” she says with smiles on her face.

Jennifer’s story is just one out over two million beneficiaries that have received the collateral and interest free government loan called TraderMoni across the country.

According to data from the Bank of Industry, only 0.04% of SMEs in Nigeria could access bank loans despite employing over 80% of Nigeria’s labour force – a staggering statistics that is poor at best if not abysmal. This is one major gap the Federal Government set out to plug with Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) – and so far, the testimonies received have shown significant success in closing this gap.

In 2017, the government of President Buhari launched GEEP as one of the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and executed in partnership with the Bank of Industry. TraderMoni, of which Jennifer mentioned above was a beneficiary, is easily the most popular of the three schemes under GEEP which includes MarketMoni and FarmerMoni. It has so far reached over two million petty traders and small business owners across the country.

Before this project, people like Jennifer may never stand a chance at getting loans from traditional commercial banks primarily because of many barriers involved including lack of collateral and/or formal bank accounts – and this has largely excluded people in her category from financial inclusion.

One of the major successes of GEEP is therefore the increase in financial inclusion of the largely unreached population by bringing them onboard and giving them access to the formal financial ecosystem. In fact, it is primarily due to this significant impact that led to the Bank of Industry winning the award for ‘Financial Inclusion’ at the recent Africa Banker’s award in held in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.

On how TraderMoni is driving financial inclusion, GEEP’s COO, Mr. Uzoma Nwagba has this to say, “For the TraderMoni scheme (for petty traders at the very bottom of the pyramid), we are taking a slightly different approach of not requiring BVNs or bank accounts as our targets are significantly less educated or sophisticated. We need to first solve their problem of access and reduce the barriers to that. So, we use what they have: their mobile phones.”

“It is only on the second loan that the BVN and bank account requirements kicks on, and therefore the digital collateral. As a result, we make a conscious effort with their first TraderMoni loan to make the carrot more attractive than the stick. That is, we make it very simple to get the next higher loan (N15,000) once the first loan (N10, 000). You literally receive a disbursement in minutes when you dial a USSD code after paying your first loan”

Through the TraderMoni scheme, many micro business owners and artisans have been empowered across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

At the International Market, Lokoja is Suleiman Idris Mustapha who sells phones accessories and also charges phones. As a beneficiary, he says, “It was right here in the market they came to meet us, and of course, I registered. Many people didn’t believe that this loan by the government is real but I here am with the N10,000 which is a very good boost and incentive for my petty business. I can also confirm that some of my relatives in Kano state have also received the loan.”

Mrs. Nkiru Success is another TraderMoni beneficiary in Plateau state. According to her, “When I was asked by the agents of the scheme if I am interested in the business loan, and I said yes. So, I was registered and afterwards, I received a confirmation and congratulatory message.”

“I jubilated and started danced, even my children were surprised. This loan that came without so much stress in a good motivation for me to work harder and repay so I can get the next one of N15,000.”

Also, another beneficiary, Ahmed Muhammad who sells shoes at the Terminus Market Jos said he makes an average of N300 to N500 profits daily which is quite small for sustenance both the N10,000 loan will empower him to get more goods at cheaper prices which will increase his profit margins.

At popular Ipata Market, in Kwara state, Risikat Agbeyangi, a pepper seller also received the N10,000 TraderMoni loan, according to her, “We thank the president for his support to us; it was timely and met our personal and business needs, some of us expanded our business with it.

From International Market in Kogi state to Ipata Market in Kwara state to Ultra-Modern Market in Lafia, every part of the North Central was reached and the testimonials of the beneficiaries are evidence of the success of this empowerment programme.

Did You Know?

GEEP has impacted over 2 million small and micro businesses.

Over 56% of beneficiaries are female.

Professions: Artisans, petty traders, farmers and market women.

Over 2600 markets have been activated across the 774 LGAs in the 36 states and the F.C.T.

GEEP has worked with 7000 market cooperatives, farming clusters and field agents.

Couple fall from 9-storey building while having sex

A woman has been killed after falling from the ninth floor of a block of flats in Russia while having sex, but her partner survived after landing on top of her.

The woman, aged 30, was found dead at the base of an apartment block in St Petersburg on the night of July 5 during what neighbours described as a wild party.

Witnesses said they saw a television thrown from the window of the flat, after which the woman and her 29-year-old lover plunged to the ground below.

The woman landed head-first on the asphalt and died instantly, local media reported, but the man survived after his fall was broken by her body and nearby bushes.

Witnesses told local media that the partially clothed man then got up and went back to rejoin the party.

Police were called, and when they arrived the revellers allegedly threw a mop out of the windows at them.

Initial reports suggested the woman had been killed by the falling TV, but images from the scene clearly show her naked from the waist down. After interviewing witnesses, investigators concluded that the couple were having sex on a windowsill when they fell.

Two other men were in the flat when the fall happened, but are not thought to have been involved.

A murder investigation has been launched.

Graphic Photos: 19-year-old lady allegedly drugged and gang raped by her boyfriend and his friends in Lagos, police detain victim in cell

A 19 year old lady simply identified as Oyindamola, was allegedly drugged and gang raped by her boyfriend and his friends at a party in the Alagbado area in Lagos state on June 30th.

The older sister of the victim, Mrs Afolabi, in an exclusive interview with LIB, said the victim who was a virgin, was invited to a birthday party by her boyfriend, Roy Arinze, who drugged her, took her away from the party while she was unconcious and raped her alongside two of his friends.

Quote:On the 30th of June, my sister Oyindamola went for a birthday party with one of her best friend called Roy Arinze. Arround 6pm, Roy invited her to a birthday party which was celebrated by one of his brothers. On getting to the party, Roy brought beer for my sister to drink  and she had never taken beer before. He begged her to drink it so she collected it from him and she drank it. After taking the alcohol, she said she doesn't know what is happening to her. The next thing, she found herslef in Roy's house.  Roy took her to his house. She was unconcious. When she woke up, she saw three guys packing blood. She was like what is going on here? What happened. Roy responded that he just fingered her.  She was like you just fingered me and I am seeing three guys packing blood. Roy responded that they came to her rescue.

She said she wants to start going home. She woke up around 9.30pm. During that period, she had switched off her phone. We have been looking for her.  They asked her to sleep over but she said no that she cannot wait that she has to go back home. They put her to a bike and she went home.
When my sister got home, she went straight to bed. She did not inform anybody. The next day, my mum went out and she called me to say she wasn't feeling alright. She said she was feeling pains in her vagina. I asked her what happened and she told me that she went to her boyfriend's place yesterday and that he told her that he fingered her and that since then, she hasn't been feeling okay. I was thinking maybe normal tears, maybe the guy slept with her and disvirgined her and she had a few tears. I called a nurse who told me she can take Ampiclox and then sit on warm water.

Oyindamola was in so much pain that she couldn't walk. So she wanted to go and buy the drugs which is Ampiclox. On getting to the pharmacy which was in our neighboorhood, the pharmacist saw the way she was walking and was like what happened to you Oyindamola? She responded that she is having pains all over her body and that she wants to buy drugs. The pharmacist was like you are having body pains and you want to buy Ampiclox? The pharmacist forced her to come closer to see what was happening down. She bent and opened her vagina for the pharmacist.
The pharmacist was shocked and was very suprised. She directed her to    Fumbi Medical Center hospital in our area. She went there and she was admitted. Because my mum wasn't around and I wasn't around as well, , she called Roy to tell him she was in the hospital.  The guy came down to the hospital. The doctor asked them to pay N38, 000 to stitch it for my sister. I think the doctor did not know it was something big.

Later on,  my mum got in touch with her and asked her ''where are you?'. She said she was in the hospital. When she got to the hospital, my mum was very surpised. She rushed down to the police station  on AIT Alagbado to report. She got there and at the counter, met a female police officer who accompanied her to get Roy arrested.
Quote:On getting there, they saw Roy and the doctor discussing. Roy was promising the doctor that he will pay extra N25, 000 to take care of Oyindamola as well as beg our mother on his behalf.
Roy was immediately arrested and taken to the police station. When they got there, the policemen were asking my mum to pay N5000 to open file, another N5000 for transport and another N5000.  They were just asking her for money. She was like money for what? Is it a crime for me to come and tell you that something happened to me and you can't come to my rescue? (sic)  The police woman told my mum if she cannot pay the money, then she should forget about the case. My mum was surprised and was like why would she say such a thing? She left for home and returned with N5000 which was all she could gather. Before she returned to the police station, I think the police woman and Roy had discussed. Roy asked her to please help him beg my mum  and that he is going to settle the woman.

The police woman told my mum that she come so they can settle the matter because she knows she doesn't have money. She told my mum that if they go to court, she would lose because she doesn't have money.  She was like you don't have money to pay N5000 for  transport. My Mum was like why would she say such a thing. She told my mum that she should provide the remaining money asked for as soon as possible otherwise she would release the suspect, Roy.
My mum did not have much with her. She rushed down to the church and called upon the brethren that they should please come to her aid. My mum and the church members visited the police station on Wednesday July 2nd. They went straight to the DPO's office as the female police officer was not on sit. The DPO wasn't aware of what was even happening. The DPO said he was not even aware wasn't even in the cell.

He begged my mum and church members.  Some people hinted us that we should call humanright activists that they are ready to fight for us and can take up the issue. We got their number and called them that same Wednesday. We called and Mrs Fola from Ikeja spoke to us. She came on Thursday July 3rd. She met my sister in the Hospital and asked her questions. She also met with doctor. The doctor told Mrs Fola he did not see any sign of penetration and that he doesn't understand the case and that she should just take it easy.
Mrs Fola then said no that she will not take it easy and that it must be charged to court. That Thursday, the doctor gave us a bill of N55, 000 and asked us to go and pay. My sister all through this period couldn't urinate by herself. They had to pass a pipe through her body. Unfortuately we don't have much, we are very rich. We didn't have much with us. We tried to run helter skelter to raise the money. We didn't have much because my dad has not been feeling fine for a very long time. He cannot walk. We have been spending much on my dad. This Oyinda own coming suddenly made us weak.
Before then, Roy's family members have been coming down to the hospital, begging us that we should settle this matter because they are Igbo, we we are Yoruba (sic).  They said they will pick up the bill and that they will give  us some amount of money and that anything we want we should ask for. I personally said no because  this guy is not telling us the truth because after he injured my sister, he cleaned her blood with his clothes and white handkerchief. We even asked for the clothes he used to clean her blood but he said he had burnt it. We don't even know what he used the blood to do.

The police just put him in their custody. They did not question him nor ask him We were also surprised because my sister said they were three when she openned her eyes. They left the remaining two guys. They did not interrogate them.'' she said

Speaking further, Mrs Afolabi said the Humanright activisit insisted that Oyinda must be examined at the Mirabel Medical center within seven days as the test will not be able to detect anything after seven days.
Quote:On Saturday July 6th, the humanrights activist came to take Oyindamola for the test but the doctor denied her access because we had not paid the hospital bill. The doctor said she cannot release Oyindamola unless the hospital bill is paid. We pleaded that she should just allow Oyindamola to go for the test and come back to the hospital. We were like we will try and go to church on Sunday and gather something. The doctor refused.  Thank God for Mrs Fola. , she spoke with the doctor who pledged to ensure Oyindamola returns to the hospital.
At the end of the day, Mrs Fola left with Oyindamola and my brother to Mirabel for the test. Me and my mum we were there at the hospital. They brought her back to the hospital. On Sunday we got to church and  we were not able to gather anything. We were just tired. Later we agreed that Roy's family should pay the money because it is their responsibility because they are the ones that caused everything. They paid the bill and we went home.

On Monday  July 8th, I went to the police station to find out what is happening and they said they have not made any arrest because they have not seen any evidence. They asked me to take a sheet of paper to Mirabel to collect the result. On Tuesday July 9th, we went down to Mirabel.

On that Saturday when they went for the test in Mirabel, they met with one Dr Alabi who enlightened Mrs Fola that it was a gang rape. He said from what he saw, it was a gang rape. He said the result will come out in 7 days. He said they raped her through her vagina and through her anus . The doctor was so sad.

According to Mrs Afolabi, on Monday July 15th, the police called for a meeting between her family and Roy's family members. On getting to the station, Oyindamola and her mother were shocked to see Roy arrriving the police station on a motorbike. They never knew the police had released Roy. A few minutes later, the police informed them that the meeting had been postponed to the next day.  Oyindamola accused the police officer of wasting her time as she was meant to be at the Mirabel medical center for further treatment but had to cancel it because of the meeting.

Mrs Afolabi said that to her family's suprise, the police officer accused Oyindamola of being rude and locked her up in the cell. She said the police threatened her mum that she will also be locked up if she isn't careful.  She was detained in the cell till the next day July 16th.

Quote:In the night, the policemen were interrogating her again. They told her that when they get to court, she should tell them that she was not sleeping when Roy was having sex with her. They were collecting another statement from her again.  They did not give her food or medication.
The next day, my mummy came and they said they want to go to court because they have collected another statement. They said they were going to court that morning which was yesterday. She called me and I was surprised. I was angry because the police decided to go to court now after forcing my sister to make another statement. The police officers collected my mum's phone so she could not be able to talk to me, forced her into a vehicle with Oyindamola and they drove to the court'' she said
Mrs Afolabi said Roy was in the court and his lawyers asked the court to grant him bail.

The Magistrate court adjourned the case to September 26th.

Mrs Afolabi says all her family is demanding is justice for her sister, Oyindamola.

BBNaija: How Frodd & Tacha’s Fight Started This Morning
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 07-17-2019, 07:31 PM - No Replies

Quote:Here is an account of how Frodd and Tacha's fight started this morning in the morning.

The Pepper Dem gang started their seventeenth day in Biggie’s House with an energetic workout. After a frog jump exercise led by Tuoyo, the ladies were treated to some fun when strapped to the men’s back like babies they were smiling broadly and urging the men on, as they raced from one end of the Arena to another.

The sweet rhythm seemed to be fuel to the men’s energy as they sped to the other side like a jet.

The Fight

After the workout session, they all went back into the room preparing for the day’s Tasks. Some of them had to use the bathroom. Frodd was ready to use the bathroom but realized that Tacha was already there. As he made to go in, Tacha sent him back with peppery words. She wouldn’t allow any of the guys have their bath because she Tacha was bathing. Eh, who dares to mess with the Queen! While some of the guys in the dressing room kept their cool about Tacha’s missile words, Ike was angry asking Tacha to at least show some respect.

A Silent Response?

Because Frodd didn't say a word (remember the saying, silence is the best answer for a fool?), Tacha became enraged hurling verbal missiles at him. She called him all sorts of names like “stupid”, “idiot” “multi-coloured human being”. However peppery these words were, Frodd kept his cool.

When Tacha came out of the bathroom, she started to abuse Frood the more, as though her earlier expressions were like a preamble. As she peppered the mute Froidd with very powerful abusive words, to the extent of referring him back home, Frodd came out of the bathroom not saying a single word. This seemed to surprise other Housemates who were probably expecting him to come out in full force charging at Tacha. A few minutes later, all went silent.

Then suddenly Tacha started again, this time, using very powerful expressions that could hurt even the gentlest of human being. She said that Frodd should feel lucky to be in the same place with her, as on a normal day she was too big a person to have anything to do with her. Hmmm, on fire!

While this verbal exchange went on unstopped, the other housemates were there looking on, there was not even a single utterance by anyone of them. Could they be afraid of Tacha? Or were they just minding their business?

Considering Tacha's choice of words and the determined manner with which she expressed them, can we see a case of someone waiting for this chance, as if there had been a misunderstanding earlier on. Here is the drama..

New Minimum Wage: Labour tells workers to prepare for strike
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 07-17-2019, 02:12 PM - No Replies

The organised Labour has directed its members in all the 36 states and Abuja to get ready for a total showdown with government should the negotiation on the adjustment from the new national minimum wage break down.

On its part, the government side is insisting on 9.5 percent salary adjustment for officers on grade levels 07-14 and 5 percent for those on grade levels 15-17.

The workers expressed concern that rather than presenting the two positions to technical subcommittee as agreed, but “Surprisingly, when the Technical Sub-Committee reconvened, the Government Side introduced a strange clause to the discussion insisting that the Term of Reference of the Committee was to work out the consequential adjustment of salaries of Public Servants based on the subhead provided for salaries in the 2019 Budget.”

All efforts by the Trade Union Side to persuade the Government Side to return to the right track of negotiation and agree on a realistic percentage increase proved abortive.”

"Thus, the Government Side deliberately created a stalemate and thereafter adjoined the meeting of the Technical Committee sine die.”

According to a communiqué, a copy of which was issued to newsmen, the workers said the downward review by labour was due to a promise by government to undertake a general salary review in no distance time.

The communiqué was jointly signed by the acting chairman and Secretary, Comrades Anchaver Simon and Alade Bashir Lawal.

The communiqué reads in part, “The Trade Union Side of JNPSNC has now resolved that the Federal Government should reconvene the meeting of the Technical Committee on Consequential Adjustment immediately so that it can conclude its deliberations and ensure that all Public Service Employees benefit adequately from the N30,000 new monthly National Minimum Wage signed into Law by Mr. President since April, 2019.”
