Makurdi, the capital of Benue State has been brought to a standstill by protesters over the ongoing killings in the state.

The protesters, DAILY POST gathered have taken over major streets of the state, calling on the federal government to come to their aide.

DAILY POST reports that over 100 persons have been killed between yesterday and today in Guma, Gwer and Logo areas of the state by suspected herdsmen.

Our reporter observed that the protesters, mostly women garbed in black attires are currently matching around the Bishop of Makurdi Dioceses house, weeping while singing corrosively, ‘Go and tell Buhari they are killing us.’

More to come…

@POLITICSNGR

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered the remand of Senator Peter Nwaoboshi of Delta state to Ikoyi Prison.

This development follows the arraignment of the senator by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of fraud.

Nwaoboshi who represents Delta North district at the National Assembly, was arraigned by the anti-graft agency on Wednesday on two counts of fraud.

PoliticsNGR learnt that the Presiding judge, Justice Mohammed Idris ordered that the lawmaker be remanded in prison till Friday when a ruling would be given on whether or not to admit him to bail.

Counsel to Senator Nwaboshi had asked the court to grant his client bail on self-recognisance, but the EFCC opposed the bail application; informing the court that there were still pending charges against the lawmaker.

The lawmaker also told the Senate that Melaye is currently at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.

Na’Allah and his colleague who visited the hospital were denied access to Melaye.Na'Allah said...

“We went to the National Hospital this morning where Senator Dino was alleged to have been kept from yesterday and we confirmed that he was brought yesterday at about 11pm,” he began.

“We spoke to the doctor who is in charge of the ICU and they assured us that they are doing everything humanly possible to stabilize him but he is in the intensive care unit. We tried as much as possible to see him but we were refused access. The instruction that was left by the Police is that only Senator Abu Ibrahim are permitted to see him.

“As at the time we were leaving the hospital, an issue that the feeding of Dino has become an issue because the Police are not willing to feed him because of the situation. They are afraid. The hospital has equally expressed reservations about feeding Senator Dino.

“A medical personnel from the Police who is working together with the trauma surgeon handling Dino told us that whoever is bringing the food for Dino must taste it. There is also a report that Dino has asthma so a chest surgeon was the one seen while we were leaving.

“Lastly, there was insistence to remove him from the National hospital but the management told them that an undertaken must be signed that whatever happens will be on them. That is what is keeping Dino at the National Hospital till date because nobody is willing to sign,” he added.

After several contributions from lawmakers, the Senate resolved to adjourn plenary and visit Melaye at the hospital.

How To Earn $50 Per Week Selling Other People's Products - Online Business
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 04-25-2018, 08:54 PM - No Replies

If it is your desire to learn how to make $50 a week from home, affiliate marketing is a good online business to start with. From this article, you will discover top affiliate marketing secrets which the gurus are not willing to share publicly. Come to think of it, the main idea behind making money on the internet is to share valuable information with people. So, I am going to expose you to simple ways to make money with affiliate marketing and possibly get out of debt or quit your day job sooner or later.

Ways to Promote Products

Basically, there are three ways to promote merchants' products and services on the internet as an affiliate marketer. They are building landing or squeeze pages, starting product reviews blog, and building authority blogs and monetizing them with links to different affiliate products.

It is always difficult to make money blogging and promoting affiliate products if you are not an authority blogger or expert in your niche market. Starting a blog solely to review affiliate products and services can be very profitable if you personally use the products or receive review copies to guide you. It is always a Herculean task for a beginner who doesn't have any idea of how to write product review articles to hit the ground running.

How to get started…

So, it comes down to setting up a simple squeeze page and creating an eBook or video to give away for free in order to build an email list of subscribers. I know you have heard times without number that money is in the list. But what I found to be valuable about list building is the relationship, bond and rapport which you are able to build with your target audience.

A lot of online shoppers and buyers are always sceptical about buying products from website owners who they don't know, like and trust because of the prevalence of internet scams and low-quality products for sale. It is even worse if they have to fill out their credit card information on your website to make a purchase.

If you are not an established e-commerce site such as Amazon.com, ClickBank.com, CommissionJunction.com, etc, you have a lot of work to do upfront to prove your expertise and earn trust from your target niche market. So, if you want to make $50 a week from home on the internet, the best way to get started as a beginner is to put your best foot forward by giving away something valuable to your target audience. This is because your generosity of giving out free eBook or video to your subscribers can gradually grow into mutual trust over a period of time.

The best part is that when you offer valuable free eBook or video, you are not worried about refunds or chargebacks. Your main concern is to make sure you are giving away valuable report in order to reduce unsubscribe rate from your mailing list.

So, let's do the Math. If you promote and sell an affiliate product which pays $5 commission for every sale closed, you need to sell only 10 copies to make $50 a week. Also, having 10 people in your buyers' list of subscribers per week means you can up-sell and cross-sell other complementary products and services to them somewhere down the road.

Investments to Make

In order to implement the squeeze page system successfully and make money, you need to invest money in affiliate marketing tools including reading materials, registering domain name, buying web hosting, creating landing page template, creating free report or video, subscribing to email service provider, and writing content to publish in your follow-up messages. There is nothing complicated about setting up squeeze page including automated email marketing system if you are willing to learn more about it.

But where you have to do a lot of work is crafting professional and valuable follow-up email series so that the rate at which your subscribers decide to opt out of your list won't skyrocket. If you are not sure how to get started, simply sign up with reputable internet marketing newsletter and learn from the expert behind it. Another area I will draw your attention to is promoting quality product or service. You can know the quality of a product by using it yourself and reading feedback from real users from niche market forums members and users.

As for marketing and promotion of your website, the quickest ways to get website visitors is through forum marketing, writing press releases and content marketing. You have to regularly promote your website, build relationships with potential buyers in your niche market via social media networks and make sure they ultimately end up signing up for your newsletter.

Yes, there is a lot of work involved in completing these tasks but you are certain you are starting an online business for the long term. As a beginner, this is how to make $50 a week from home on the internet with all certainty either in affiliate marketing or other legitimate internet business opportunities.

When you promote quality products, then you are on track to make good money from people who would sincerely need the products you market. To learn more about affiliate marketing, please visit the blog using the link below.

Modular Refineries To Be Commissioned By December - Ibe Kachikwu Reveals
User Avatar Forum: Oil/Gas
Posted by: Edoman - 04-25-2018, 08:52 PM - No Replies

Quote:Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu on Wednesday in Kwale, Delta State, said two modular refineries will be completed and commissioned by December this year.

The refineries, to located in Rivers and Delta states, are among the 38 that were granted licenses to be constructed and operate in the Niger Delta region.

Kachikwu said the Federal Government’s resolve to establish modular refineries was part of long term plans to end Nigeria’s importation of petroleum products as well as to discourage illegal oil bunkering activities in the Niger Delta.

The minister, who was represented by his Senior Technical Adviser (Refineries and Downstream Infrastructure), Engr. Rabiu Suleiman, spoke when he led a joint team from the ministry, Office of the Vice President, and the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) to inspect ongoing construction of a modular refinery by Omsa Pillar Astex Company Limited (OPAC Modular Refinery) in Kwale.

He said the team was on ground to provide support and evaluate the performance of what the company is doing to ensure that it was in line with the Buhari administration’s vision of encouraging local production of petroleum products.

“If you recall, sometime last year, the Vice President visited the Niger Delta and made a policy statement that will encourage the establishment of modular refineries. We are happy that we are here today. This is one of the first few that have meant to that promise to deliver on what they have promised to do and today we are happy to see the installation of 7,000-barrel capacity modular refinery. As you can see, Russian Technology is being installed,” he said.

“The commitment we hear is that, within six months from now, the refinery would be completed and we are looking forward to seeing that. In my side talks with the chairman of the company, he is expecting another 45 tonnage of materials arriving on site and that is significant portion.

“If that arrives in the next few weeks, and construction continues and the weather being a good friend, six months will be made and that is going to be a promise fulfilled. By that, we can say by end of the year, we will be coming to witness the commissioning of yet another refinery in Nigeria,” Kachikwu said.

He explained that the commissioning of the two modular refineries, which have reached advanced stages in construction, would send the right signals to other investors who had doubted the federal government’s commitment to invest in the construction of more modular refineries.

“A total of 38 licences have been issued, ranging from high scale refineries of 100,000 to 50,000 barrels had been issued. Out of these 38, about 10 of the modular refineries have advanced and they have all secured what we call ‘permit to construct’, just as it is here. So, with the license to construct the LTA, it means that 10, as at today, are ready to go. This is just one of the ten.

“We have visited others which are also under construction in similar stages as this one. They also gave us six months from last month. Going together, we can see two being commissioned in the next five to six months; and others are on the sea being imported, and we look forward to see many more. The first one that will be commissioned will be a remarkable encouragement to those others who are slowing their feet,” Kachikwu added.

Chief Engineer of the company, Elberd Bilanich, a Russian who conducted the team round the project site, expressed joy at the pace of construction work at the OPAC Modular Refinery, saying that upon completion, the two refineries would refine 7,000 barrels of crude oil each daily.

Senior Special Adviser to the Vice President on Niger Delta Matter, Edobor Iyamu, said the Federal Government would continue to give entrepreneurs all necessary support for quick completion of all ongoing modular refineries in the region.

According to Iyamu: “From the inspection, we understand that they will begin with diesel and kerosene production, but down the line they will venture into the refining of premium motor spirit. This refinery is meant to be a 7,000 barrel per day refinery. We are excited as a government that things are coming to fruition.”

Warri Zonal Operations Controller of DPR, Mr Antai Asuquo, who was represented by the Zonal Head of Gas, Engr. Ignatius Anyanwu, said DPR has deployed representatives to the site to ensure they meet government standards and industry regulations.

Chairman of OPAC Refineries, Momoh Jimah-Oyarekhua, confirmed that the refinery would come on stream by December, disclosing that the company’s production target is 60,000 barrels, but decided to start with 7,000 from where it would expand in phases.

“Generally, our plan is actually to install 60,000 barrels’ refinery eventually in Delta State, and this is our first phase of the refinery. We decided to start from the 7,000 barrels modular and in no time after commission – maybe a year – we are planning to expand to about 13,000 and 20,000 to follow, and eventually to install 40,000 before reaching our desired peak of 60,000 barrels refinery,” Oyarekhua stated.

Giant Mosquito With Wing Of Over 4 Inches Found In China

A giant mosquito with a wing span of more than four inches and ten times longer than an average mosquito has been found in China.

The super-sized mosquito belongs to the Holorusa mikado species, the largest mosquito family in the world.
With a five cm long body and a wing span of 11.15cm, the mosquito is ten times longer than an average mosquito.

The insect is also a third longer than the average holorusia mikado species.

Sun News UK reports that Zhao Li, curator of the Insect Museum of West China discovered the giant mosquito last August in Qincheng Mountain, within the Sichuan province.

But he wanted to take his time and confirm that it really was the largest mosquito in the world before revealing the staggering discovery.

He told South China Morning Post:

“These mosquitoes look horrendous, but do not feed on blood.

“The adults have a life span of only a few days and mainly feed on nectar.

“There are tens of thousands of types of mosquitoes in the world.

“Barely 100 species feed on blood and may be a problem for humans.”

The mosquito is set to go on display at the museum in China next month.

Uk-based Nigerian Wife Attacks Husband’s Sidechick With Bleach
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 04-25-2018, 08:43 PM - No Replies

A jilted Nigerian wife living in the U.K has been jailed for two years after she threw bleach into the face of a woman she believed was having an affair with her husband.

42 year old Aboseda Ajayi flew into a rage when she saw her husband’s alleged sidechick, Jane Ocran sitting in her convertible Mercedes outside her home. She was so provoked she emptied a bottle of household bleach over Jane Ocran’s head and beat her with her wig.

Aboseda Ajayi, a former Ministry of Justice administrator, repeatedly slapped and punched Ms Ocran before battering her with her own handbag.

At the Inner London crown court, prosecutor Polly Dyer said Ms Ocran escaped serious injury as her sunglasses protected her eyes from the bleach, but she was left screaming in pain after the attack on June 17 last year.

The court heard Ms Ocran, who denies an affair was taking place, had been shopping that day with Mr Ajayi and had just returned to his home in Brixton.

Ms Ajayi was shouting at her

‘you b*tch, sleeping with my husband, f***ing my husband’.”

The prosecutor said Ajayi grabbed Ms Ocran’s handbag during the attack.

“The defendant took off her own wig and used it to hit Ms Ocran, slapping and punching her a number of times in the head,”.

The defendant emptied the contents of the handbag into the street and then walked back inside her home.”

Passers-by doused Ms Ocran’s face with water, and she was treated in hospital for soreness to her eyes.

In a victim impact statement, she revealed she “lives in fear of Ajayi doing it to her again”.

Gerwyn Wise, mitigating, said Ajayi had been the victim of domestic violence during her 16-year marriage, and her husband had openly embarked on several extra-marital affairs.

Judge Benedict Kelleher sentenced Ajayi to two years in prison, telling her:

“This was a vicious attack that could have caused serious and disfiguring injuries.”

Ajayi, a mother-of-two from Brixton, initially denied the assault, insisting she had only thrown water over Ms Ocran.

She pleaded guilty on the first day of the trial last month to applying a corrosive fluid with intent, having an offensive weapon, and common assault.

Stop Linking Dino Melaye's Travails To The Buhari-led Government Remi Tinubu
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 04-25-2018, 08:35 PM - No Replies

Wife of APC National leader, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has asked members of the senate to stop linking the travails of embattled Senator Dino Melaye to the Buhari-led government. Speaking while the senate deliberated on the matter this morning, Tinubu who last year had a faceoff with Melaye, said;

''If we are talking about a particular issue, we should stay with it but when we are bringing in a government that a lot of people also supported to be here, using whatever happened to implicate the government, I think I am against that. We should face the issues. I am not in support of what happened to Dino. If we have anything against the executive, we have the leadership here who is supposed to go and meet with Mr. President. This government is only three years old compared to 16 years of rot. It has only been in power for 3 years and inherited a lot of trouble'.

My Husband Infects Me With STD; Wife
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 04-25-2018, 08:34 PM - No Replies

Quote:A 32-year-old hairdresser, Mrs Sherifat Ojelabi, on Friday, told an Igando Customary Court in Lagos that she contacted s3xual Transmitted Disease (STD) from her husband.

She also told the court that her husband, Bolaji, used to litter their bedroom with condoms he used on his girlfriends.

The petitioner further told the court that her husband, with whom she had a child in their three years of marriage, was also adulterous.

“Bolaji brings home girls of different sizes, shapes and colours and made love to them on our matrimonial bed.

“I used to see used condoms hang on every corner of our bedroom.

“One of the girls he brought home got pregnant and gave birth to a baby.

“Whenever he made love to me, I suffered infection with serious itching on my private parts that I have to use drugs before relief,” she said.

The hairdresser said that Bolaji owned her N620 000, adding that her husband used her Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) card to withdraw the money without her consent.

“My husband borrowed N170,000 from me and took N150,000, my contribution money in our room without telling me.

‘’He also took my ATM card to withdraw N300,000 from my account without my consent.

“When the issue resulted in a fight, his mother singlehandedly paid N350,000 out of the money.

The estranged wife said that Bolaji always threatening to kill and their son.

“My husband is a wife-beater who always disgraces me in public by stripping me Unclad during the beatings.

“He used to tell me that he was a cult member, that he committed atrocities in school which made him be rusticated, that he could do such atrocities to me.

“Bolaji also threatened to use our son for ritual,” the petitioner told the court.

She described her husband as an irresponsible husband and father, claiming his mother had been playing his role in the house.

The housewife, therefore, begged the court to terminate their marriage, claiming that the love she once had for her husband had faded.

However, Bolaji accepted that he was owning his wife money but said that the money was not up to N620,000.

“Yes, I took her money in the room and also took her ATM without her consent to withdraw only N120,000 when I was in need of money and she refused to give me.

“But all the money together is not up to N620,000 as she claimed but my mother had paid N350,000,” he said.

The 36-year-old public servant denied littering their bedroom with condoms but agreed that his girlfriend got pregnant with him.

The respondent said that he never threatened his wife’s life with the cult.

“I am not a cult member, I left the school willingly because some cult members wanted to force me into their groups,” he said.

According to him, he cherishes his son and cannot use him for the ritual.

He agreed that he beat his wife but denied stripping her Unclad.

Bolaji urged the court not to grant his wife’s request for the dissolution of marriage, adding that he would change for better as he was still in love with her.

The President of the court, Mr Akin Akinniyi, advised the couple to reconcile, saying that they were too young to be separated.

Akinniyi adjourned the case until May 24 for possible reconciliation.

The State Government, in a statement by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Adeniji Kazeem, said forensic investigation into the matter revealed overwhelming and compelling evidence to the effect that the suspect killed his wife and daughter.

“The Office of Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice on the 19th of April, 2018 issued Legal Advice to the effect that a prima facie case of murder Contrary to Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 has been established against the suspect, Peter Nielsen (M) – a Danish National.   CAN Calls For Nationwide Protest Against Herdsmen Killings
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 04-25-2018, 03:18 PM - No Replies

Adelani Adepegba, Abuja

Quote:The Christian Association of Nigeria, has called for a nationwide protest against killings and bloodshed in the country.

The CAN President, Rev. Olasupo Ayokunle, in a statement on Wednesday urged Christians to hold peaceful protests within their church premises on Sunday April 29, 2018.

He made the call against the backdrop of the Tuesday killing of two priests and 17 worshippers at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Mbalom, Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State.

He said, “CAN urges Christians in Nigeria to hold peaceful protest on the set aside date, in the premises of their churches asking the Federal Government and the security agencies to stop the unending killings and bloodshed in the country.

“Christians are to carry placards with inscriptions meant to address issues about sustained killings, attacks and destruction of their property in Nigeria.
“The inscriptions on placards could read, ‘Enough of bloodshed in Nigeria,’ ‘Enough of unlawful killings in the country’, ‘FG, Release Leah Sharibu from the bondage,’ ‘FG, Stop Herdsmen Killings,’ CAN rejects FG’s poor handling of insecurity.’”

The cleric admonished the government to perform its constitutional responsibility of protecting the citizens, noting that no excuse is tenable for the bloodshed, stressing that the perpetrators must be brought to book.

“CAN seizes this medium to appeal to the government of President Muhammadu Buhari to mount different effective plans aimed towards disarming herdsmen across the northern states and in communities where they have been wreaking havoc across the country in national interest,” the statement added.

It attributed the continued killings to the failure of the government to mount an effective campaign against the attacks, killings by the herdsmen, noting that there was equally no visible plan to pacify the aggrieved.

“The Association also calls on the heads of the security agencies to wake up to their constitutional role of protecting lives and property across the federation while preventing Nigeria from descending into chaos and lawlessness, “ the CAN President said.

He reminded Christians to pray for bereaved families of those attacked by the Boko Haram terrorists, armed herdsmen, and other criminals in the past couple of months across the country.

“CAN reminds Christians across the federation the importance of the forthcoming general elections and the need for them to fully participate this time, by trooping to obtain their voter cards with which to play a role in the emergence of new set of political leaders who could guarantee their security and safety,” the group advised.

Respond To US Corruption, Human Right Allegations - PDP Challenge Buhari And APC
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 04-25-2018, 03:15 PM - No Replies

Quote:THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has challenged President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to quickly respond to the damning report by the United States government on increasing corruption and abuse of human rights in Nigeria.

In a statement issued by Kola Ologbondiyan, National Publicity Secretary of the party in Abuja on Tuesday, it said the report
further exposed the festering corruption, impunity, gross violation of rights and killings under the watch of the Buhari Presidency.

According to the statement, this report by the US Department of State further vindicates the opposition party’s stand that the Buhari-led APC government is “overtly and inherently corrupt, vengeful and has been engaging in smear campaign against the opposition to divert public attention from its atrocities.”

The party observed that the US report directly indicted the APC-led Federal Government of official corruption, secretiveness, high-handedness, restriction of personal freedom and rights, executive influence on the judiciary, wanton arrests, detention and persecution of opposition as well as extra judicial and arbitrary killing of citizens by state-controlled security forces.

It pointed out that the report also directly discredited President Buhari’s fight against corruption as targeted against opposition members while government officials and APC members, openly indicted of corruption, especially those close to Mr. President, are not prosecuted.

The statement added: “From the report, the world can now see that the PDP has not been raising a false alarm on the unbearable savagery and massive corruption of the APC administration, which has proven to be the worst in the history of our country.

“The world has now known why the APC-led Federal Government has been fixated at silencing opposition voices using the tyrannical instruments of intimidation, arrest, detention, trumped-up charges and media trial while emasculating free speech and press freedom in our country, all designed to hide their atrocities from the world.

“Today, it is clear to the world why Nigerians are leaving their country in droves to other parts of the world even at the peril of slavery and death.

“Under President Buhari and the APC, our country is in great pain. Our constitution appears to have been technically suspended. Citizens now live in fear; bloodletting by marauders and extra judicial killings have become the order of the day; billions of naira meant for the rehabilitation of victims of the insurgency are daily frittered by government officials while fundamental human rights have become essential commodities.

“While we urge Nigerians to remain calm, we are surprised that the Buhari Presidency has suddenly become dumb in the face of obviously overwhelming allegations, believing that the tide will flow by.”

The PDP, therefore, challenged the Presidency and the APC to end “their arrogant disdain for the people and immediately respond to all allegations raised in the report.”

It said these are weighty issues and they can no longer hide under the canopy of politics to dismiss them with a wave of the hand as they did in the past.

The PDP called on United States President Donald Trump to note the damning finding in the report by the US Department of States and review his earlier invitation to President Buhari until the issues raised are addressed.

Gov Fayose says Jonathan remains his President

Former President Goodluck Jonathan will be in Ekiti state on Wednesday to commission the first flyover in the state which was constructed by Fayose administration.

Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose gave the hint on Monday when the okada (motorcycle) riders drawn from the 16 local governments’ areas stormed Ado Ekiti, the state capital, for a solidarity rally to drum support for the governorship ambition of his deputy, Professor Kolapo Olusola.

While addressing the okada riders, Fayose called on Nigerian youths to vote for only those who share their believes, aspirations and concerns and vote out the President who believe they are good-for-nothing and lazy as President in 2019 election.

The governor said that the youths and women in the country remain the highest voting population, wondering why a president seeking reelection in 2019 would deride and cast aspersion on the young people.

He noted that the President Muhammadu Buhari led All Progressives Congress (APC) promised to create three million jobs but added that, three years after, no job has been provided for the teeming unemployed youths that have become an object of ridicule by the president.

He said, “When you stand here, we see the category of people here, they are mostly young people. Our President went abroad and said that Nigerian youth are lazy. By 2019, we have to vote against the President. You must vote for people who believe in Nigerian youth, not the people who condemn and call Nigerian youth lazy.

“Elections are won by youth and women in Nigeria. How can our president go out of the country and condemn our youths? They promised three million jobs every year, they did not provide one. Therefore, anybody that calls you lazy must be removed from office.

“We believe in you, we will stand by you and support you. We will commission the flyover on April 25. Jonathan will come to commission the bridge. Jonathan is my own President”.

In his remark, Kolapo said that if he emerges governor, nobody can ban the motorcycle rider in Ekiti State. “ I will not ban okada from plying Ekiti roads if I become governor. Those who will chase you away from the roads must not become governor. When they were in government they messed up our economy and left a huge debt for us.

“We must not let them come back. APC is cancerous, and we must not allow their cancer to infect us. They have dismissed the flyover but it has not only beautify Ado Ekiti but it will herald development,” he said.

The Chairman of the Okada (motorcycle) riders in Ekiti State, Mr Olaniyi Dahunsi who led the riders who are drawn from the 16 local government areas of the state said that his union held the rally in support of the Deputy Governor because they did not want the landmark achievement of the current administration to be truncated.

He said that Ekiti has witnessed unprecedented achievement that has not been rivalled by any previous government since the creation of the state in 1996, saying “that we have tasted other governments but none have done remarkably like this one. This is why we are not ashamed to troop to the street in solidarity with Olusola Eleka.

“All the over 10,000 motorcycle riders who are mostly youths, have therefore resolved to support the deputy governor so that he can continue where governor Fayose stopped.”

Buhari Dumps Oyegun, Solicits Governors’ Support For Oshiomhole As APC Chairman
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 04-25-2018, 03:08 PM - No Replies

President Muhammadu Buhari last night solicited the support of All Progressives Congress (APC) governors for the emergence of former Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole, as the next national chairman of the party.

This came as National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, yesterday described as “absolutely childish” the endorsement of Oshiomhole, to take over from him as national chairman by some party stakeholders from the South-south zone.

Buhari, who met with the governors behind closed doors at First Lady Conference Hall in the Presidential Villa, tabled only one agenda before them.
A presidential source who did not want to be named, told journalists last night that the sole aim of the meeting was to persuade governors to work for the emergence of Oshiomhole as the party’s next national chairman.

“The party’s national convention where new members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) will emerge has been slated for May 14 in Abuja.
“It is not clear yet if the party’s current Chairman, Oyegun, will be seeking re-election at the convention but the president has resolved to support Oshiomhole’s candidature.

“The president called this meeting with the progressive governors to ask them to back Oshiomhole’s candidature. That’s the purpose of the meeting. That is the president’s position,” the source said.
Meanwhile, Oyegun has described as “absolutely childish” the endorsement of Oshiomhole to take over from him as national chairman by some party stakeholders from the South-south zone.

Oyegun who did not confirm whether he would seek re-election as APC national chairman or not, told journalists yesterday that he was still making consultations and would make his position public in few days.
Ahead of the May 14 national convention of the APC, the governors elected on the platform of the party will today hold a meeting with Oyegun and members of the National Working Committee (NWC) to consider the level of preparations for the event.

THISDAY gathered from a party source that the meeting would among other issues, decide on the budget for the event and how to raise funds to ensure the success of the convention.
There have been speculations that both Oyegun and Oshiomhole among others were in the race for the exalted APC position.

However, in what seemed like a tacit confirmation of Oshiomhole’s interest in the race, a meeting of the forum of South-south APC stakeholders was held on Monday in Edo State capital where state chairmen from Edo and Delta were said to have endorsed the candidacy of Oshiomhole.

However, while reacting to the development yesterday, Oyegun said it was “childish. Absolutely childish.”
He said the voting is to be done at the convention and not in state houses or in government houses.
When specifically asked to comment on the endorsement of Oshiomhole and his own rejection by Edo State chapter of the party, Oyegun said: “They have their reasons for what they did and you have to respect their own reasons, however wrong it is. Don’t bother about this teaser, I will give a comprehensive interview, to speak with you when the time comes.”

The national chairman further said he was not perturbed by the action of his home chapter.
“No. It doesn’t bother me because one of those who wants my job is from Edo and he was the immediate past governor and he was very instrumental in installing the present governor, so I think it is a case of ‘rub my back, I rub your back’ that is playing out.”

On whether he would still go ahead and re-contest for his office despite the opposition from the home front, Oyegun simply said: “The consultation, I think is concluded. Well, I’m going to know when the convention committee announces their programmes, then when I’m going to buy a form, if I will re-contest I will let you know.”

Meanwhile, the party yesterday inaugurated a screening and appeal committees for aspirants contesting the May 5 primary election to elect the party’s flagbearer for the 2018 Ekiti governorship election.
The party’s National Organising Secretary, Senator Osita Izunaso, who inaugurated the committees said the screenings were mandatory for all aspirants.
He charged committee members to continue in the APC’s tradition of adhering to due process and ensure fairness during the exercise.

At close of the submission of nomination forms, 33 aspirants made up two women and 33 men are on queue for the contest.
Members of the screening committee include the former governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva who is to serve as Chairman, Denton Ogbuehi (Secretary); Samaila Hassan Yusuf, Hajia Amina Gamawa (member); Ayo Afolabi, Hon. Bilyamin Shinkafi and Mohammed Mustapha.

Speaking while inaugurating the committees, Izunaso said they would rely on the party’s 2014 guidelines for the nomination of candidates for public office; the party’s constitution and the 1999 Nigerian constitution (as amended) in carrying out the assignment.
He disclosed that 33 aspirants picked expression of interest and nomination forms, the highest recorded by the party.

The screening appeals committee comprises: Abuzarri Ribadu (Chairman); Tunde Esan (Secretary); Hon. Kayode Oseni, Mr. Osaro Bizugbe and Edem Selong.
Speaking on behalf of the committee members, the Chairman of the screening committee, Timipre Sylva promised that the committees would be thorough and fair to all aspirants in carrying out the assignment.
“We will do a thorough job and make sure that no misfit or anybody not qualified pass through this committee,” he said.

However, the Delta State chapter of the APC has rejected Oshiomhole as the chairmanship candidate in the forthcoming national convention of the party.
The rejection came as the chairmen of four states in the South-south had earlier denied endorsing the former Edo State governor.

The four states chairmen of the party who had earlier dissociated themselves from the purported endorsement are Davies Ikanya, Rivers; Joseph Fafi, Bayelsa; Etim John, Cross River, and Amadu Attai, Akwa Ibom.
They said at a press conference yesterday that Oyegun, the incumbent chairman of the party, reserved the right to seek a reelection.

They had stormed out of the South-south zonal caucus meeting held at the Edo State Government House last Monday in protest of what they said were plans by Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, and the Zonal Vice-Chairman of the APC, Hilliard Eta, to adopt Oshiomhole as the consensus chairmanship candidate of the region.

Speaking to journalists, the South-south states chairmen said they were ambushed with Oshiomhole’s adoption agenda at the meeting.
They insisted that Oyegun should be given a right of first refusal to seek re-election for the position.

In a statement issued by the Delta State Deputy Chairman of the party, Chief Cyril Ogodo, yesterday the party described the adoption as desperate and despicable.
The statement distanced the state APC from the purported endorsement.
Also commenting about the development, the leader of APC in Delta State, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, expressed shock that the national vice chairman South-south could contrived such a dangerous and dishonorable situation.

He stated emphatically that the leaders and stakeholders of APC had at no time deliberated on adopting Oshiomhole as their candidate.
But the National Vice Chairman (South south) of the party, Eta, yesterday explained the reasons the leadership of the party decided to endorse Oshiomhole for the position of the national chairman of the party,
He said: “Oshiomhole is the rebranding APC needs” ahead of the 2019 general election.

Eta said the party followed the tradition and due process in endorsing the former Edo State governor contrary to views from few leaders of the party in the zone, recalling that it was in similar manner that Oyegun was endorsed in 2014 in Port Harcourt at a meeting hosted by the then Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi where he said, Oyegun was adopted as the candidate of the zone based on the position of his state party leaders.

On the issue of four chairmen who disassociated themselves from the Benin meeting, Eta clarified that “I know that Cross River State does not have a chairman as we speak, so it could not have been four chairmen. Let me say that the chairmen are members of the zonal executive committee just like the other 164 people in the zonal committee of the party.

“We are not holding a state executive meeting, we were holding a zonal committee meeting, and in the zonal executive committee, we have over 168 people, including senators, governors, deputy governors, former senators and former House of Representatives members. So the chairmen who stormed out of the meeting were not speaking for their states. Let me tell you something: Senator Nelson Effiong seated and participated in the voting when his chairman stormed out and said he disassociated himself.” he said
On why they picked Oshiomhole ahead of Oyegun, Eta said: “Oshiomhole fought the god fathers of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State and defeated them. He has the name, the experience to change the fortunes of our party.

“I am the National Vice Chairman for close to four years now and what I can say now is that this party needs rebranding, reinvigoration, creativity, and need to build strong leadership. I can tell you that we have been lacking very seriously in the leadership at the national level of our party. And in bringing in Oshiomhole on board, I can tell you that the party will have a new lease of life. The impunity that has crept in the APC will be halted. The laws of the party will be respected.

Afenifere Tells Nass To Sanction Buhari Over Purchase Of $496m Aircraft

[Image: President-Muhammadu-Buhari.jpg]The pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, yesterday tagged the anticipatory approval and payment of $496 million by President Muhammadu Buhari for the purchase of the A29 Super Tucano Aircraft as an act of ‘corruption and misappropriation of public funds.’

It called on the National Assembly to ensure that the full wrath of the law was brought to bear on the issue.

Rising from its monthly meeting at the home of their leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, in Akure, Afenifere also condemned the statement credited to the President in London, where he degraded youths.

Reading the group’s communiqué, its Publicity Secretary, Yinka Odumakin said Afenifere “frowned at the anticipatory approval and payment of $496 million to the US government by President Buhari for the purchase of 12 A29 Super Tucano aircraft.

“It is disturbing that this impetuous act was carried out by the President, who is now asking the National Assembly to include money he already spent in 2018 Appropriation Act under consideration.

“This is against Section 83 of the 1999 constitution. Since there was no act of National Assembly for this money, it is clear that the President’s action is a clear subversion of 1999 constitution.

“It is an act of corruption and misappropriation of public funds and we call on the National Assembly to ensure that the full wrath of the law is brought to bear on this issue because this act of impunity is getting too much.”

The Senate has summoned the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris to appear before the house by 11am tomorrow April 26th to brief the house on why Senator Dino Melaye was maltreated by the police despite his status as a federal lawmaker.

The resolution to summon the police chief was adopted following a motion by Senator Samuel Anyanwu representing Imo East who lamented that Senators are being treated like common criminals across Nigeria.

According to Senate President Bukola Saraki, all efforts by him to reach the IG has been abortive as the police chief has refused to take his calls in the last 48 hours.

The Senate adjourned abruptly for all senators to visit the National Hospital were Senator Dino is under admission. Chairman of the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Senator Abu Ibrahim was also mandated to ask the IGP to appear at plenary by 11am on Thursday.

Why I Parted Ways With Buhari - Atiku
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 04-25-2018, 11:55 AM - No Replies

y Hamza Idris

A former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has explained why he parted ways with President Muhammadu Buhari.

Atiku said this in an interview with the BBC Hausa Service in London, which was monitored by Daily Trust.

The former vice president, who resigned his membership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), returned to his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), now the major opposition party in the country.

“The APC started on a wrong footing after President Buhari assumed office. Also, the way the government is being run; I made my suggestions but it seems they were deemed not important to them,” Atiku said. He also said he was aspiring to be president to be able to right the things he could not during the eight years he served as vice president.

“I want to be the President of Nigeria because I would be able to do things I could not do as vice president,” he said, and added that if elected president, he would start with the country’s economy and that he believed Nigerians would trust him in the fight against corruption, citing how their administration set up the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

He also vowed that there was no personality that he would not investigate if he was elected president, just as he dismissed insinuations that he was desperate to become president.

On the allegations that he had been barred from the United States of America, Atiku said he had applied for a US visa but was denied and was given no reason for the denial.

He denied allegations that his house in the US had been auctioned. “I bought the house for my wife and she was the one who sold it,” he added.

On the recent comment of the president concerning Nigerian youths, Atiku said he disagreed with the president. “I don’t see Nigerian youths as lazy,” he said.

Atiku called on the youths to get more involved in politics, promising to give them 40 per cent of his cabinet if elected president.

  Senators ‘fight’ Over EFCC Clampdown
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 04-25-2018, 11:15 AM - No Replies

By Ismail Mudashir
About 10 senators fought in a closed session presided over by Senate President Bukola Saraki over issues bordering on what they tagged as ‘clampdown’ by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)’.
It also emerged at the session that the EFCC has commenced scrutiny of bank details of many senators following allegation of financial misconduct.
Daily Trust gathered that the issue dominated the closed session of the Senate that lasted for about three hours yesterday. The session which started by 10.56am ended around 1.36pm.
Senators told our correspondent that at the session about 10 senators confirmed that the anti graft agencies had accessed their bank statement for scrutiny.
A senator said, “The issue started when a senator from a Northwest state stood up and accused one of our colleagues from Northeast of being the one that submitted his name for probe. The issue charged the session. It was at this moment that others spoke on it.”
He said other senators including two from the southeast confirmed that their bank details was being analysed by the EFCC.
Also speaking on the closed session, a northwest senator said their northeast colleague was accused of being the agent of the EFCC at the Senate.
“About 10 of our colleagues raised the issue that their bankers have intimated them that their bank statements are being scrutinized,” he said.
It was gathered that the issue led to argument between the accused northeast senator and other lawmakers.
Daily Trust gathered that the issue of Senator Peter Nwaoboshi (PDP, Delta) was also raised. Nwaoboshi has been in the EFCC custody since last week.
“Nwaoboshi was arrested since last Tuesday. The EFCC secured the order to detain him in a crafty way. They went to the court with Peter Nwaoboshi without including senator on the court order,” he said.
Three senators also confirmed that Nwaoboshi told them that the EFCC has secured detention order to arrest two former governors from Northwest, who are serving senators.

*WHAT YOU NEED ISN’T A TOUCH .*

Wednesday, April 25th .
Pastor Chris

_*To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27).*_

Some Christians unknowingly still live their lives on the basis of the revelations in the Old Testament. That’s not God’s plan for the new creation. Until and unless such Christians change their mentality, they’ll keep walking outside the glory of God without realizing it.

In the New Testament, you’ll never find the kind of things that some teach or practise in the Church today. For instance, someone desires a change in his life and says, “I just need a touch from God,” or “I’m praying that God will touch me.” These statements may sound nice and religious, but they don’t convey or express new creation realities. It does, however, explain why such people merely experience the glory occasionally in their lives, if they do at all, whereas, they ought to be basking in it.

Why ask for a “touch” from the Spirit when He lives in you in His fullness? Our opening verse says Christ in you, the hope of glory. The one you’re asking a touch from is mingled with your spirit; you’re one with Him: _*“But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit”*_ (1 Corinthians 6:17). What you need isn’t a touch, but to be filled with the Spirit always, and the scripture shows us how in Ephesians 5:18-21 (study entire reference).

Christ is in you, and Christ is everything. You have the fullness of the Spirit. You’re replete with God. The Bible says you’re complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power (Colossians 2:10). This is the revelation of Christianity. How much touch do you expect to get from someone who already dwells in you? His hands are in your hands, and His legs are in your legs. He sees through your eyes. You’re His living tabernacle. Glory to God!

Don’t major on the minors, thereby minimizing what God has maximized. Paul said, _*“When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things”*_ (1 Corinthians 13:11). Don’t ask for a touch. The Holy Ghost wasn’t sent to be beside you and touch you from time to time; He lives in you forever. Hallelujah!

*PRAYER*

*Dear Father, I thank you for granting me an understanding of the transcendent life in Christ. I see with, and live by your Word, and your glory is revealed in, and through me by the Holy Spirit, who lives in me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*

*||* *Ephesians 5:18-21* And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; 19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; 21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. *||*

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig,-Gen. Zakari Kazaure, has said that only corps members with genuine cases would be relocated to their home states.

Kazaure stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Tuesday.

He also reminded corps members that there were criteria and due process to follow for redeployment.

Kazaure noted that nursing mothers, pregnant women and people with serious ailment among others were among those categories.

The Director-General said that it would be inhuman not to consider a person with genuine problem, especially ailment for relocation.

APC Convention: Oshiomhole's Endorsement Foolish And Childish - Oyegun Says
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 04-25-2018, 10:00 AM - No Replies

• Buhari in dilemma as govs, ministers draw battle line

• Tinubu bars Ajomale, others from re-contesting

• Why we endorsed Oshiomhole –Eta

Quote:The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has described the endorsement of the former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, for the position of national chairman by some party stakeholders of the South-South zone as foolish and childish.

This is as the presidency is said to be in dilemma over who among the chairmanship aspirants to back, while a battle line has been drawn between some governors of the party and ministers over who emerges the next national chairman of the ruling party.

APC National Vice Chairman (South-South), Prince Hilliard Eta, had after a zonal stakeholders’ meeting of the party on Monday in Benin, Edo State capital, announced that Oshiomhole had been endorsed for the position of national chairman by the South-South caucus of the party.

But, Odigie-Oyegun, who spoke with correspondents in Abuja, yesterday, on Oshiomhole’s endorsement by the South-South caucus of the party, said no support for the former labour leader from Edo State government house can work or deter him.

His words: “It is childish, absolutely childish. The voting is done at the convention and not in state houses, not in government houses.”

He, however, declared that he is not begrudging the Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, for supporting Oshiomhole, who is his benefactor.”

On whether he is seeking for re-election, Odigie-Oyegun said he has concluded consultation on his ambition to re-contest for the office of national chairman. “Well, I am going to know when the convention committee announces its programme and when I’m going to buy my form if I will re-contest, I will let you know. The consultation, I think, is concluded,” he said.

He also commented on his lack of acceptance in his state, saying: “They have their reasons for what they did and you have to respect their reasons however wrong it is.”

On whether he was bothered by the support for Oshiomhole by Edo State government, he said: “No it doesn’t because one of those who want my job is from Edo and he was the immediate past governor and he was very instrumental in installing the present governor, so I think it is a case of rub my back I rub your back that is playing out.”

Meanwhile, a source, who spoke with our correspondent, revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari, is yet to make up his mind on who to support among the four aspirants that have so far indicated interest for the ruling party’s national chairmanship. They are Odigie-Oyegun; Oshiomhole; former governor of Cross River State, Mr. Clement Ebiri and Dr. Sam Sam Jaja, but the battle seems to be between Odigie-Oyegun and Oshiomhole.

While it is alleged that the APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, is the one projecting the candidature of Oshiomhole, some governors of the party are said to be behind Odigie-Oyegun’s candidature.

The governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, had said that there are 12 APC governors behind the APC national chairman’s re-election. Although he did not mention the names of the governors, it is believed that they include Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano), Ibukunle Amosun (Ogun), Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo) and Aminu Masari (Katsina).

Tinubu Bans APC Chairman, Others From Seeking Re-election
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 04-25-2018, 09:29 AM - No Replies

Quote:The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday banned members who had spent a minimum of eight years as ward, council and state executive members from seeking re-election in its May congresses.

The National Leader of the party, Bola Tinubu, announced the ban in Ikeja while addressing party members at a stakeholders meeting.

He said the decision was to allow fresh people to occupy party offices at ward, local government and state levels with a view to taking the APC to the next level in the state.

The national leadership of the party had recently fixed May 2, 5, 9 and 14 for ward, local government, state and national congresses respectively.

The decision of the party to allow congresses followed appeals by President Muhammadu Buhari who had opposed the approval of tenure elongation for party executives at all levels.

With Tuesday’s pronouncement by Mr Tinubu, the chairman of the party in the state, Henry Ajomale, who had led the chapter for a very long period, will be unable to seek re-election.

Mr Tinubu said at the meeting: “We fought hard against tenure elongation, and now we are going to have our congresses.

“Some of you who have spent two, three, four terms as ward, local government and state executive members, it is time to go.

“We thank you, we appreciate you. But we want you to step aside. It is time for those who have been crawling for years to walk. It is time for the youths to take over.

“I mean if you have spent eight years, twelve years, you have tried. You should give us chance, let us now have new people.”

Mr Tinubu, however, said party executive members who had only spent one term were free to seek re-election, provided they did not have records of misconduct in office.

The APC leader, however, commended the affected long-serving officers of the party, saying they contributed immensely to the successes of the party in the state.

Mr Tinubu said arrangements were in top gear to conduct congresses at all levels in the state, and expressed the optimism that they would be successful.

He warned party members to abstain from violence before, during and after the congresses, saying any act of irregularities would be sanctioned by the party.

Mr Tinubu advised party members against infighting, urging them to learn to live in peace with one another for the progress of the party.

On the divisions among party members in Alimosho and Surulere areas over some issues, Mr Tinubu sued for peace, urging aggrieved members to channel their complaints to the secretariat of the party in the state for appropriate actions.

He, however, said it was wrong and premature for any member or groups to disagree over choice of candidates for the next election.

“We shouldn’t be talking of who and who should be the candidate for a particular position for the general election.

“We are at the congress stage, we have not even done the primary, so disagreements over candidate choice for the election should not arise,” he said.

He congratulated the National Convention Committee on their inauguration on Monday, expressing optimism that the committee would conduct a free and fair convention.

The party chieftain said the committee members, headed by Jigawa State governor, Mohammed Badaru, were people of character and he expected nothing less from them.

Mr Tinubu thanked party members for staying with him on his last birthday, saying he was honoured by their support.

He particularly thanked President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, and Minister of Power and Housing, Babatunde Fashola for attending his birthday.

Reacting, Mr Ajomale described the decision to ban long-serving party officers as a welcome development.

He said the decision would allow young blood to take over the party leadership at all levels in the state.

The party chairman said he was fulfilled having piloted the affairs of the party to several electoral victories in the state.

“It is a good decision that people who have been in the executive for more than eight years should quit.

“I mean, if you have spent more than eight years as party executive, you should have done whatever you need to do.

“People like us have been around since the AD days to now that we are APC, so it is time to move on. I am fulfilled, as I have done my best for the party,” he said.

Mr Ajomale said he had no fear about who would take over from him, as there were many competent people in the party who could take it to greater heights.

I Had Sex With 18 Men In One Month Because My Husband Does Not Last In Bed – Woman
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories

A 42-year-old housewife, Mrs Ifeyinwa Lofe had in the early hours of Monday burst into confession at Umuagu Asaba shrine, saying she had sexual intercourse with 18 men under one month, and in her matrimonial home.

Her sudden outburst which attracted crowd of persons to the scene left the elders of the Asaba community in shock, especially as the housewife was well known within the area to be hardworking and unsuspecting petty trader.

It was gathered that the housewife, a native of Ashama community in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State had been married to her kinsman in the past six years with two children. But this was not to be following her detectable beauty which often attracts men to her shop where she sells biscuit and others.

Sources said the woman’s husband had severally warned her against unsuspecting men intruders who hide under the guise of patronize her, including threatening to expose any illicit affairs with her via fetish charms.

Investigation revealed that rather than heeding to the threats handed down to her by her husband, the housewife calls it a bluff with haughty manners and allegedly invited her sexual patrons to her matrimonial bed whenever her husband resumes duty as security officer at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Asaba during night fall.

Those in the know said that one of her patrons Francis Chukwuemeka before his sudden death, was one of the children of a prominent newspapers distribution, and a retired banker who also is a well know elder of Umuagu community.

While the struggle for the housewife lasts, the young man who was buried at the weekend in the early hours, was said to have allegedly hoodwinked the housewife with huge sums of money.

At the shrine, the housewife in an open confession said: I have had sex with 18 men in Asaba, and they gave me N1.5 million all together. I got so much in love with them because they hit me very hard sexually, please forgive me, my husband does not last in bed, and I needed it most for my upkeep hence I agreed for the men”.

Meanwhile, the husband Fredrick Lofe in a swift reaction told Daily POST, “I promised to kill all the 18 men because I warned my wife to stay away from the act when I got wind of it. I consulted a charm specialist who will kill all of them if they refused to own up”, three of the men sleeping with my wife have died and many will die unless they confess to their sins.”

An elder in the area, Ogbueshi Anthony Molokwu said, “the three persons died of swollen penis because they refused to confess their sins,” adding that anyone who commits a taboo will pay dearly for it.

As at the time of this report, elders of the community have banished the 15 other men until they confess to their sin while palpable fear of the unknown has taken over the community.

Reno Omokri, the former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan says Fulani herdsmen accused of killing Nigerians in some parts of the country are being treated better than Senator Dino Melaye.

Omokri made the remark in reaction to the controversies surrounding the arrest of Sen. Melaye on Tuesday.

The embattled Senator representing Kogi west was admitted into the hospital after he attempted to escape from police custody on Tuesday.

Reacting on his Twitter page, Omokri faulted police statement on Melaye’s arrest, adding that the statement had nothing incriminating in it.

The former presidential spokesman wrote “I read the police’s statement on @dino_melaye and it was a detailed statement saying nothing.

“If only the Nigerian police can be as serious about going after enemies of Nigeria, like herdsmen, as they are with going after enemies of President Buhari, like Dasuki, Dino and Saraki.

“Even the thugs who stole the @NGRSenate’s mace were not treated as brutally as @dino_melaye. Herdsmen who kill Nigerians are treated better than Dino. Maina was brought back to Nigeria and given armed guards, Dino was stopped from leaving Nigeria and maltreated by armed guards!”

Ethiopia Is Now Africa's Fastest Growing Economy

(CNN) — Ethiopia, Africa's second most populated country, is forecast to be the fastest growing economy in Sub-Saharan Africa this year, according to new data from the IMF.
Ethiopia's economy is predicted to grow by 8.5% this year.
The figures signal continued economic expansion following a long period of impressive growth. In the last decade, Ethiopia has averaged around 10% economic growth, according to the IMF.

To boost the economy, the country is pursuing a number of large-scale infrastructure projects, including the Grand Renaissance Dam and a railway network.
"(Ethiopia) has had a very high growth rate and I think that's a result in large part of a very concentrated effort by the government to boost industrial production and manufacturing," said Vijaya Ramachandran, an economist at the American think tank Center for Global Development (CGD).
Ramachandran, along with three academics, released a report suggesting Ethiopia can follow in China's footsteps, and become a destination for low-wage manufacturing jobs.

However, despite sustained economic growth, in the past few years Ethiopia has experienced increasing unrest from Oromo groups in the Oromiya region. According to human rights groups, the government has suppressed basic rights and freedoms.

New Prime Minister Abiye Ahmed was sworn at the beginning of April, signaling an intent to ease tensions.

Economic Growth.
Ivory Coast is expected to be the second fastest growing economy in the region at 7.4%. Rwanda's estimated economic growth is 7.2%, and the West African country Senegal is projected to have 7% growth.

The data reveals that Ghana, which was previously forecast as the fastest growing economy in Sub-Saharan Africa in October 2017, at 8.9%, slowed in its predicted growth to 6.4%. Last year, a reported surge in oil and gas production helped propel the country's economy. Related Article:44 African countries agree free trade agreement, Nigeria yet to sign
Nigeria, Africa's largest economy, is predicted to grow by 2.1%, an increase from 1.9% forecast in October 2017.

"They've updated it to 2.1%. However, they have emphasized the risks. The falling commodity prices and imbalances that are to arise because of the elections," Bismarck Rewane, a Nigerian economist, told CNN.

South Africa's predicted growth stands at 1.5%.
Long term, according to a report from the World Bank in 2016, the proportion of the African population in extreme poverty has declined, but the overall number has increased as the continent's population expands.

Growth across the whole region is forecast to average 3.4%, below the total world growth figure of 3.9%.

CBN Seeks End To Naira Mutilation
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 04-25-2018, 09:04 AM - No Replies

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has said that it is working with market associations and other stakeholders to enhance the circulation of new naira notes.

The move, according to the central bank, was part of efforts to ensure that the high incidence of dirty naira notes and currency mutilation in the economy was addressed.

CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele disclosed this in an interview with journalists in Washington DC.
He assured Nigerians that the central bank would continue to print new notes as well as address concerns about defacing of the nation’s currency.

“We would keep printing new notes. I do know that new notes are being printed.
“Our Director of Currency, the banks and market associations are working together to ensure that those currencies are delivered directly into the markets so that people feel what we are doing,” he added.

Following concerns of rising incidence of mutilated currencies in the economy, the CBN had reduced the amount of money it charges banks for sorting mutilated naira notes from clean ones to N1,000 per box from N12,000 per box. The reduction was however, limited to lower denomination naira notes, or polymer notes, namely N50, N20 and N10 notes.

Also, the reduction to N1, 000 per box which became effective in January, and lasted for three months.
Apart from the clear health risk dirty notes pose to the people who use them, the country’s national pride is greatly undermined in the eyes of the world.

Studies have also shown that dirty money poses serious health hazard to those who handle it as trillions of such currencies in circulation are full of disgusting germs.
For instance, a study in the Journal of the American Medical Association studied bacteria from coins and notes found potentially harmful germs like fecal bacteria, E. coli and Staphylococcus aureus on 13 per cent of coins and 42 percent of notes.

A separate study by an Irish researcher at the Cork Institute of Technology (CIT), Emma Gabriel that also tested banknotes for Staphylococcus Bacteria showed that 97 per cent of the sample notes tested positive for the presence of potentially dangerous bacteria on their surface. This may be even higher with the dirty and awful smell from most dirty naira.

“The five notes which tested negative were in mint condition, and the older the currency was, the more contaminated it was. The coins were less contaminated because they are made from bacteria-static metals,” the study revealed.

Furthermore, the study showed that dirty money could specifically pose a risk to immuno-suppressed people — people whose defence against bacteria are already low.
According to Wiki, “Currency changes hands constantly” and one never knows where the money in ones’ possession has been, particularly banknotes, which has the tendency to build up grime and may be loaded with bacteria. Notes collect dirt and discoloration from the germs that rub off people’s hands.

Of course, not minding how careful one is, our own local unit- naira- can easily be put to unfit condition.
Based on the arrangement, banks are expected to return mutilated currency to the CBN for clean naira notes.
Hence, they are expected to sort mutilated naira notes from clean ones, before taking the mutilated notes to the CBN for replacement with new ones.

However, to avoid the cost of machines and process for sorting the naira notes, they return the notes unsorted to the CBN.
The Acting Director, Corporate Communications, CBN, Okoroafor had said: “We have enough new ones to issue to them. Our problem is that banks have not been returning these notes because of the fear of sorting that we would charge them.”

Again, CBN Boosts FX Market Liquidity With $210m
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 04-25-2018, 09:01 AM - No Replies

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Tuesday intervened once more in the interbank segment of the foreign exchange (FX) market as it sold $210 million in thewholesale segment and other sectors.

Figures released by the central bankyesterday showed that the wholesale sector of the market got another injection of $100 million, just as the small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs) and invisibles sectors each received $55 million.

Confirming the figures, the Acting Director, Corporate Communications Department at the CBN, Mr. Isaac Okorafor, said theinterventions, like the previous intermediations, were in line with the Bank’s commitment to sustain the high level of stability in the Forex market and continually ease access to the currency by those requiring it for genuine activities.

Okorafor, while commending the role of players in the market, said the CBN was ready to inject funds into the market, whenever and wherever necessary, in order to maintain market stability as well as sustain the financial system.

He also said the financial regulator was further buoyed by recent gains in the foreign exchange sector, which had seen the country’s reserves soar closer to the $50 billion mark.

Speaking further, Okorafor said the country’s reserves continued to enjoy accretion, adding that the present reserves status at the Bank meant that the CBN was capable of sustaining foreign exchange liquidity in the system.

Tuesday’s intervention came as one United States Dollar (US$1) exchanged for N361 in the Bureau De Change (BDC) segment of the market.
The CBN had in its last interventioninjected the sum of $396.18million into the Retail Secondary Market Intervention Sales (SMIS).

CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele at the weekend put the value of the country’s external reserves at $47.93 billion, noting, however, that there was need to save for the rainy day and also continue to grow the foreign reserves.
He said it would be like saying the focus on inflation, the gross domestic product and exchange rate do not mean anything.

“We came to a meeting where one of the important issues that was discussed was the need to save for a rainy day and we must continue to rebuild reserves.

“That means that Nigeria’s decision to rebuild its reserves from as low as $23 billion in 2016 to almost $48 billion today was a decision in the right direction.

“So, we are going to continue to do so. If we had more reserves when we were hit by the exogenous shocks, we would not have suffered the recession that we suffered,” he added.

@POLITICSNGR

Senator Dino Melaye has released a statement on his arrest today by officers of the Nigerian police force.

Below is the full statement titled "Today's Incident Involving Senator Dino Melaye: A Last Resort" signed by his Media aide, Gideon Ayodele;

"Sequel to the avalanche of calls by well-meaning Nigerians and supporters of Senator Dino Melaye for enquiries about the well-being and safety of the Senator and against the backdrop of baseless rumours being spread on the social media, we are constrained to make the record straight as follows:

Earlier in the morning, Senator Dino Melaye as a law-abiding citizen voluntarily submitted himself to the operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) who had laid siege to his private residence since around 3.35pm of Monday, April 23, 2018.

He, along with his lawyers and personal aides, was driven in his private car to the SARS office in Guzape district of Abuja, sandwiched among the numerous police vehicles earlier deployed to his house.

For the avoidance of doubt, he had never evaded police invitation before now because there was none extended to him in the first place. Rather, what the Police FPRO, Mr Jimoh Moshood, had been doing was to summon the Senator through media briefings, a practice which is unconventional.

But given the media hype the whole saga had generated especially his unwarranted travails in the hands of Immigration officials at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Aiport in Abuja on Monday, April 23 and the attendant but dramatic police siege to his private residence thereafter, where family members and political associates were subjected to traumatic experience for hours, it became necessary for Senator Dino Melaye to end the drama, hence his choice of appearing before the police today.

Later on they moved to take him to Lokoja in Kogi State. The public will vividly recall that the case involving Senator Dino Melaye had already been transferred to Abuja by the Chief Justice of the Federal High Court after Senator Melaye expressed worry about his safety in Lokoja. Now, the question is why will they want to forcefully take him to Lokoja? The Senator believes they are doing the Kogi Governor's bidding in order to assassinate him.

Today's incident was a last resort by Senator Dino Melaye in order foil attempt to kill him by agents of Kogi State governor in connivance with the Police."

Mr Daguru said: “The objective of the programme is to work with government in three areas of job creation, while building capacity of our youths and aiding efforts to keep the foreign exchange rates low.

“We are making sure we import low quantities of rice and tomatoes, while putting less pressure on our Naira (currency) so as to make our economy strong.’’

He said that the target beneficiaries were those with ages between 18 and 35 as well as graduates and undergraduates of higher institutions.

“The programme would support all aspects of agricultural production in a business or commercial manner; right from crop and livestock production, inputs support supply and advisory services.

“It would also assist extension services and post-harvest production services like storage, warehousing, marketing and products distribution.’’

Mr Daguru said that a two-week intensive training in business and technical fields in the states would be conducted for candidates after the screening exercise.

“During the application process, candidates would be allowed to choose specific enterprises of their choice in the agricultural value chain and they would be trained in the ventures accordingly.

“At the end of the training, they would be asked to submit business plans on their chosen enterprises; we will then invite professionals to review the business plans and come up with standard modules.

“We have 5,916 trainees and they have opened bank accounts with two selected commercial banks that are used by the FADAMA Coordinating Offices in the states.’’

Abdulfatah Ahmed, governor of Kwara state, has appointed Abdul-Azeez Muhammad as his special assistant on Fulani affairs.

Isiaka Gold, secretary to the state government (SSG), made this known in a statement on Tuesday in Ilorin, the state capital.

Muhammad is to represent Miyetti-Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), the umbrella body of herdsmen, in the governor’s administration.

Gold explained that the appointment was driven by Ahmed’s commitment to “ensure harmonious” relationship between herdsmen, farmers and other segments of the society.

The SSG also said that the appointment would also serve to ease communication between members of MACBAN, the government and local farmers in the state.

Gold said the decision to appoint a special assistant on Fulani affairs was reached at the enlarged meeting of the state security committee held recently.

He congratulated the new appointee and urged him to approach his new assignment with the diligence and dedication.

Clashes between farmers and herdsmen have been on the rise across the country.

On Thursday, suspected herdsmen invaded a church in Benue killing two priests and worshippers.

According to reports filtering in from Abuja, fierce looking armed policemen led by Jimoh Moshood, spokesman of the Nigeria Police Force, stormed Zankili Medical Center, Mabushi, Abuja, where Dino Melaye, senator representing Kogi west, is being treated.

The senator was admitted into the hospital after he attempted to escape from police custody.

There was tension in the hospital as the policemen arrested two persons — a man and a woman — said to be members of staff for unknown offence.

The policemen summoned the official of the hospital and demanded to know where Melaye was.

OAU Sex For Marks: What Monica Osagie Told Panel – Counsel
User Avatar Forum: Universities
Posted by: Edoman - 04-24-2018, 11:13 PM - No Replies

Dr Abiola Akinyode-Afolabi, the defence counsel for Miss Monica Osagie, the alleged victim in the sex-for-marks scandal at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, said on Tuesday that her client affirmed before an investigative panel that Prof. Richard Akindele deliberately failed her because she refused his sexual demand.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Osagie had appeared before the committee set up by the institution’s authorities in company with her counsel.

Osagie, a postgraduate student in the Masters of Business programme, had released a recorded telephone conversation, which went viral, in which the lecturer identified as Akindele, allegedly demanded sex for marks.

The committee, which held its session at the Pro -Chancellor’s Lodge on the campus, allowed only Osagie and her counsel into the venue.

Journalists, students and some members of the National Human Right Commission who came to witness the sitting were not allowed into the venue by security personnel of the institution who manned the entrance.

Akinyode-Afolabi, who spoke with newsmen after the closed door session which lasted for more than seven hours, said Osagie told the panel that she passed the course but was later failed by the don because of her refusal to sleep with him.

She said that Osagie narrated in details what transpired between her and the don, adding that lawyers present at the meeting were not allowed to make any contribution.

Akinyode-Afolabi , who is the Executive Director for Human Advocate Research and Documentation Centre, Abuja, said that Osagie also informed the panel that she recorded the conversation between her and the professor as evidence.

She said Osagie also informed the panel that she reported the sexual harassment by the don to some lecturers in the university, adding that no action was taken by them.

Akinyode-Afolabi said some lawyers who represented the lecturers who Osagie claimed she reported the case to also appeared before the panel.

She said that Osagie also told the panel that she did not score 33 per cent as alleged but was failed so that she could bow to the sexual demand of the don.

Akinyode-Afolabi said she was optimistic that the outcome of the panel would serve as a lesson to other lecturers who also engage in such acts.

She, however, urged the panel to ensure that justice prevailed on the issue so as to maintain the integrity of the institution.

Akinyode-Afolabi, who did not allow Osagie to talk to newsmen, said her client would always be available to give evidence whenever she was called upon.

Members of the panel did not also speak with newsmen after the meeting.

NAN recalls that a recorded audio conversation of the don demanding sex to increase the marks of the female postgraduate student had gone viral.

The audio recording had generated reactions from a cross-section of the public until the university authorities reacted.

NAN also recalls that the vice chancellor on Friday confirmed the suspension of Akindele.

Payment Of $462m For Fighter Jets, Impeachable Offence, Reps Tell Buhari
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 04-24-2018, 06:57 PM - No Replies

Members of the House of Representatives did not mince words on Tuesday when they said President Muhammadu Buhari committed an “impeachable offence” by authorising the purchase of $462million jets for the military without appropriation by the National Assembly.

Buhari is buying 12 Tucano aircraft from the US with the money.

The planes will be delivered in 2020.

The lawmakers became angry as soon as the Speaker, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, read a letter from Buhari, informing the House that the expenditure was done in “anticipation of approval” by the National Assembly.

They noted that the letter was a “mere afterthought”, as the expenditure had been done already.

The anger caused a brief rowdiness on the floor, forcing Dogara to intervene in a bid to calm down the lawmakers.

The eventual decision on Tuesday was that the letter should be properly tabled for debate on another date by the House so that it would take a position on the next line of action.

But, before the resolution, it was the Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts, Mr. Kingsley Chinda, who raised a point of order to draw the attention of members to the alleged “constitutional breach” by Buhari.

He said both the 1999 Constitution and other laws in the country did not recognise spending by the President in “anticipation of approval” by the legislature.

Chinda stated, “This matter ($462m) came up last week. Today, Mr. President has admitted that the expenditure has already been incurred.

“We are supposed to be a watchdog, but as it is, we cannot bite. This is an impeachable offence and there is no misconduct that is more serious than this.

“I propose that we commence the impeachment of Mr. President, based on this infraction.”

FG Set To Increase Allowance Of Corpers - NYSC DG

FG SET TO INCREASE ALLOWANCE OF CORPS MEMBERS

Sulaiman Kazaure, the Director General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), says the increase in corps members monthly allowance would be determined by the new national minimum wage ”when it takes effect around September 2018.”

The official said this on Monday while fielding questions from journalists newsmen shortly after the swearing-in ceremony of the 2018 Batch ‘A’ corps members at the NYSC orientation camp in Kusalla, Karaye Local Government Area of Kano state.

According to him, “our efforts to ensure that the monthly allowance of the corps members is increased have yielded a very good result following series of discussion with the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chris Ngige.”

Mr Kazaure added that the N18,800 paid to them is grossly inadequate to cater for their needs during the mandatory one year service to the nation.

The federal government had set-up a committee to look into the upward review of the minimum wage which he said will also determine the increase of the corps members’ allowance.

“We have been assured that when the new minimum wage takes effect, also the corps members allowance will be reviewed upward,” Mr Kazaure assured.

The NYSC DG also disclosed that 82,000 corps members were deployed nationwide for the 2018 Batch ‘A’ orientation course across various states except those with security challenges.

In his remarks, the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, urged the corps members to shun all acts capable of denting the image of the scheme or which would sour their relationship with the camp officials.

“You are to be guided by the sense of duty and discipline at all times, that would undoubtedly lead you to succeed in your entire life,” Mr Ganduje said.

Earlier in his welcome address, the NYSC Coordinator in Kano, Ladan Baba said no fewer than 2,487 corps members were registered in the camp, comprising 1,289 males and 1,198 females.

Mr Baba added that the corps members since the beginning of the three-week orientation had been adapting to the various activities in the camp and have behaved well.

Killing Of Catholic Priests, Worshippers Satanic, Despicable – Buhari
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 04-24-2018, 06:45 PM - No Replies

By Johnbosco Agbakwuru with agency report ABUJA –

Quote:PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has described as despicable and satanic the gruesome murder of Catholic Priests and worshippers at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Ukpor -Mbalom community in Gwer East Local Government of Benue State. President Buhari who also said the action of the murderers was sacrilegious in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chief Femi Adesina in Abuja on Tuesday, said that those behind the act would be fished out to face the consequences of their wicked act. He said, “I extend my sincere condolences to the government and people of Benue State, the Mbalom community, and especially the Bishop, priests and members of the St Ignatius’ Catholic Church, whose premises was the unfortunate venue of the heinous killings by gunmen. . Joseph Gor in white

“This latest assault on innocent persons is particularly despicable. Violating a place of worship, killing priests and worshippers is not only vile, evil and satanic, it is clearly calculated to stoke up religious conflict and plunge our communities into endless bloodletting.” Stressing that the country will not bow to the machinations of evildoers, President Buhari vowed that the assailants would be hunted down and made to pay for the sacrilege committed The Catholic Diocese of Makurdi confirmed the killing of two of its priests, Rev Fathers Joseph Gor and Felix Tyolaha, in an early hour attack on St Ignatius Quasi Parish, Ukpor, Mbalom in Gwer West Local Government Council of Benue. A statement by its Director of Communications, Rev Fr Moses Iorapuu, said that the attacks were perpetrated by herdsmen who stormed the Mbalom community and killed the two priests during the morning mass at the church.

The Diocese expressed regret at the nonchalant attitude of the security agencies in containing the killings. It said the herdsmen, who stormed the community, burnt down houses, destroyed crops and killed people. The church, therefore, urged the relevant authorities to stop the killings in the Benue valley. Iorapuu said the Diocese had been active in providing food and relief materials to Internally Displaced Persons (IDP’s) since the onset of hostilities in the state and wondered why it could be marked as a target of attacks. “The attack on the priests is an attack on everything that we ever stood for and believed in.”

Meanwhile, concerted efforts to get reaction from the Benue Police Command failed as its Public Relations Officer, ASP Moses Yamu, was not forthcoming with remarks. Rev. Fr. Gor had before the attack written on Facebook; “Living in fear. The fulani herdsmen are still around us in Mbalom. They refuse to go. They still go grazing around us. No weapons to depend on ourselves”. Herdsmen in the early hours of the morning attacked a Catholic Church and parishioners who went for 5.30 a.m. mass. Reports say the bodies of the dead have been taken to St. Theresa’s Hospital Makurdi.

Obituary And 'Burial' Of Saraki By Senator Omo-Agege's Constituency (Photos)
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 04-24-2018, 06:40 PM - No Replies

This is very sad...talking about the lengths people go just because of politics. An obituary banner was designed for the ''burial'' of senate president, Bukola Saraki over the suspension of senator Ovie Omo-Agege representing Delta Central at the National Assembly.

The banner which was purportedly designed by some constituents in Delta state - was done to announce the political death of the senate president for ''conspiring'' against their lawmaker to suspend him as they held a 'burial' for him (Saraki) few days ago in Abraka.

Meanwhile, contrary to belief in some quarters that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege was suspended over his opposition to the election reordering bill, Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, has said the senator representing Delta Central was sanctioned for taking the Senate to court.

Taking the Senate to court, according to Saraki, smacks of gross indiscipline, which should not be condoned by the upper chamber. Omo-Agege, who was billed to appear before the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions over his comments on the amendment of Electoral Act, 2018, had sued the Senate in a bid to stop his appearance.

Quote:MELAYE UPDATE: Senator jumps out of vehicle, flees into bush enroute Kogi

Fred Itua, Abuja

In what was like a typical Sylvester Stallone film on Tuesday afternoon in Abuja, as embattled senator, Dino Melaye, while being conveyed to his native state to face charged by police authorities, did the unthinkable, as he jumped out of the moving vehicle and made for the thick bush nearby.

It was gathered that on seeing what happened, security operatives attached to observe him in the journey, also spontaneously jumped out of the vehicle and gave the fleeing senator a hot chase.

Details later…

2019: I Am Not Desperate To Become President- Atiku
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 04-24-2018, 04:52 PM - No Replies

Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, has dismissed criticisms that he's desperate to become president of the country as he braces up for the 2019 presidential election.

In an interview with BBC Hausa on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, Atiku said he's passed up previous opportunities to become president because he's not desperate for power.

He pointed to his decision to step down for MKO Abiola during the race for the 1993 presidential election whose result was eventually annulled by the military government of  Gen. Ibrahim Babangida.

"If I am desperate, I wouldn't have stepped down for M.K.O Abiola in 1993 presidential race. In 1993, I contested with M.K.O Abiola. I later withdrew from the race.

"In 1999, I was elected a governor of Adamawa state, then invited to be Nigeria's vice president, under Olusegun Obasanjo." he said.

Atiku, who was vice president under former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, between 1999 and 2007, said he hasn't had proper opportunities to contest as a presidential candidate.

"All the times I have been contesting for the presidency, I have been opportune only once to be presented to Nigerians as a candidate.

"I could have become Nigeria's president in 2003 when virtually, all the state governors then, rallied support for me to contest which I declined. I am not desperate to be president as some Nigerians view it." he said.

He also boasted that he knows what it takes to revive Nigeria's economy and maximise the country's wealth.

He said, "As a former vice president, I am opportune to know things. If I am opportune to be elected as a president, I will accomplish my mission by reviving the economy, by making Nigeria an investor’s haven.

Here are graphic pictures of a man and his wife who were among victims killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen recently in Benue state.

Meanwhile, Fulani herdsmen have killed at least 17 people in an early morning attack on a Catholic Church in Benue State. The attack occurred in Ayar-Mbalom, a community in Gwer East Local Government Area.

The attack came barely four days after the murder of ten persons by herdsmen in Guma Local Government Area and the destruction of several houses by men suspected to be military personnel in Naka, Gwer West Local Government Area of the state.

Most of the victims were attacked while coming from morning mass.

[Image: FRSC-official-caught-having-sex-with-9-y...08x410.jpg]Days after absconding upon being caught having sex with a 9-year-old girl in Benue State in a car, the Benue State Police Command has arrested Charles Ali, a staff of FRSC.

The FRSC staff who discovered that the case was getting serious after bragging to the girl’s father that nothing can happen to him, took off from the Police headquarter in Makurdi, the state capital when he was called for question. He reportedly excused himself to make a call then disappeared for 4 days.
The suspect who reportedly confessed to the crime before his pastor and also in writing, will be charged to court tomorrow or next, as confirmed by the Deputy commissioner of Police Benue state command.

We had reported before now, that the FRSC official was caught unclad in the car on top of the young girl. After the act was exposed to the girl’s father, he took the child to the hospital and had necessary tests run on her which confirmed that the child had been raped.
Read the detailed Facebook report shared by Ukan Kurugh prior to the arrest of the FRSC staff;
I had a chat with Mr. A. The father of the 9year old girl who was been consistently abused by a mature man who is a staff of the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC). The man opened up for the first time and told me exactly what happened. And efforts he has made so far.
He said on the 25th of Feb. This year at about 7pm. He had come back from a trip and was about taking a bath. When his neighbor Mrs. Charles Ali, walked in with one Miss C. (a groundnut hawker) Mrs. Charles walked into the compound and pointed at Mr. A, the victims father, and said “this is the girl’s father”
At this point, Mr. Ali also came in and Mrs Ali told Mr. A that Miss C said she caught Mr. Ali naked in the car on top of the victim.
Mrs Ali was telling her husband, Mr. Ali that she had repeatedly warned him but he didn’t listen and now he has been caught.
Mr. Ali, attempted to deny the allegation but Little Miss C (the groundnut hawker) kept insisting; “You did it, I saw you”
A neighbour, Mr. Moses Terngu came in at this point and told the father of the victim in Tiv, that he intended leaving the scene but his conscience won’t free him. He told him that he had seen Mr. Ali, begging Miss C not to let people hear what has happened. He said Mr. Ali even assumed the little girl was Tiv like Mr. Moses and said “beg her not to let the matter go out, she is your tribe girl” He knew from then that something was wrong. A man will not beg one to keep a thing secret except he is guilty.
The father of the victim asked Mr. Moses to repeat what he had just told him in English so that the neighbors who had gathered who weren’t Tiv would also hear it and he did.
@media(max-width: 600px) {.adace_adsense_5adf406edcdf7 {display:block !important;}} @media(min-width: 601px) {.adace_adsense_5adf406edcdf7 {display:block !important;}} @media(min-width: 801px) {.adace_adsense_5adf406edcdf7 {display:block !important;}} @media(min-width: 961px) {.adace_adsense_5adf406edcdf7 {display:block !important;}}
He told them how he saw Little Miss C. And Mr. Ali arguing for a long time. Mr Ali was denying and begging her not reveal what has happened but the little girl braved through. Insisting that she had seen Mr. Ali very well and that he did it.
Mr. Ali later began to apologize, but he wouldn’t say what he has done that he was apologizing for. And he even started crying.
Because the father was too shocked and probably too distraught at the time, he asked his neighbor to help talk to the daughter and she confirmed it actually happened.
He took the child to the hospital and had necessary tests run on her and they were released after about a week. The tests also confirmed that the child had been raped.
On the 26th, around 4:47am, Mr. Ali and wife came knocking on their door with their little baby. Mr. A the victim’s father told his wife he would record the conversation, he attempted to, but because the culprit was already apprehensive, he spoke in hush tones and the record couldn’t come out clearly. But he admitted in his apology that he actually did it and asked to be forgiven.
The father of the child victim reported the matter to the National Human Rights Commission but according to him, he was asked to write a formal complaint and he did, but no action was taken.
Mr. Ali wouldn’t stop begging, he even brought his pastor, a pastor of The Glory of his Majesty to plead on his behalf. The pastor pleaded that he should be forgiven, he had done the act but was pleading and so he should be pardoned.
But all these was however after attempts to accuse the wife of conniving with the little miss C to tarnish his image and also his inability to craftily blame it on the devil and evil spirits.
The father again took the matter to NAPTIP but according to him, he was rejected the first time. It was after a contact had been given to him that he went back and a formal statement was taken.
It was found out during the usual questions asked that the act had been going on since the child was 8years old.
Mr Ali was arrested and detained but since the offence is a bailable offence, he has been released on bail. The matter is yet to go to court as investigations are still ongoing.
As at the time I had this interview with the victim’s father, he was quite angry and felt frustrated that this evil committed against his child will be allowed to go unpunished.
