DSS Refused To Arrest Imam Salihu Zaria Who Threatened To Kill Christians

DSS under fire for alleged inaction after Cleric, Salihu Zaria, threatened to kill Christians

Quote:By John Owen Nwachukwu

Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, has berated the Department of State Services, DSS, over its alleged loud silence and apparent inaction to the unambiguous incitement against Christians made in a recent viral video allegedly by one Ustaz Abubakar Salihu Zaria.

The association described the police inaction as discriminatory, illegal and totally indecorous.

HURIWA expressed consternation and shock that such a seditious video could have been made by a so-called religious leader threatening to carry out reprisals on Christians over the recent cruel and brutal killing of scores of Moslem travellers in Jos by unknown gunmen, yet for nearly three days the DSS has overlooked the sensational and violence-prone Video.

In a statement, the National Coordinator Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko and the National Media Affairs, Director Miss Zainab Yusuf, HURIWA wonders whether the security forces including the Nigerian Police were waiting for the threats to be fully executed before it can take any lawful measure to bring the said religious preacher to justice.

“Can we honourably remind the hierarchy of the DSS as they prefer to be identified, that the specific institution known as state security services is a creation of the Nigerian law and therefore the operatives are to serve all Nigerians equally and must never present themselves as either Islamic Police or political police but a national policing institution.

“We hereby ask them to invite the said Islamic Cleric to say what he knows about a future plot to kill Christians in Northern Nigeria should any Moslem be killed by hoodlums in Plateau State and also find out why he classified Plateau State citizens all of whom have one religion or the other as infidels. These inciting comments and the inaction of either the Nigerian Police Force or the DSS are dangerous.

HURIWA also asked the DSS to explain to Nigerians why it invited the Edo State-based Christian leader Pastor Suleiman and the Enugu State based Catholic Priest Fr. Ejike Mbaka when they individually made innocuous statements which in the estimation of DSS were damaging to National Security but same DSS has gone mute upon hearing a Moslem Cleric make threats against Christians.

HURIWA wondered too that President Muhammadu Buhari received in audience the Sheikh from Bauchi whose disciples were killed by unknown gunmen even after he the Sheikh was quoted in a section of the media as allegedly threatening revenge and now the same President and his attack dogs have kept mute to this threat against Christians by the Islamic Cleric.

HURIWA noted that the President through his Media minders had attacked Rt. Reverend Mathew Hassan Kukah, the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese for reportedly criticising President Muhammadu Buhari’s silence to the killings of Christians by armed Islamists in the North of Nigeria.

HURIWA said the inaction and loud silence of the DSS to the incitement against the lives of Christians in the North made by Ustaz Abubakar Zaria contravenes some sections of the Nigerian constitution.

The Muslim cleric was quoted as saying partly, “Here is my message to the infidels in Plateau 2x and to CAN Plateau and to CAN Nigeria in general.

“I am the one speaking, I am Alkali Abubaka Salihu Zaria.

“I swear to God almighty, if such ever occur again, there are Christians in Kaduna State, there are Christians in Zamfara State, there are Christians in Sokoto, there are in Katsina, Kebbi, there are Christians in Gombe, Damaturu and Yobe and there are major roads. We will also block the roads and waylay Christian commuters.” The video had alleged.

Officer Gunned Down, ‘Two Majors’ Kidnapped As Bandits Break Into Nigerian Defence Academy

Quote:By Maryam Ahmadu-Suka,

Bandits have invaded the Afaka barracks of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna, killing a naval officer.

The bandits were also said to have also kidnapped two majors.

Daily Trust gathered that the bandits who attacked the barracks around 1am on Tuesday are still be inside the academy.

A reliable source within the barracks told our correspondent that security has been beefed up within and around the barracks to stop the bandits from escaping with the officers.

“It was a terrible experience, the bandits took advantage of the time when most people had gone to bed to attack the barracks.”

“Right now, the whole barracks is under lock and key and security has been beefed up so that the bandits cannot leave the barracks because it is believed that they are still within,”
 the source said.

One of the officers who was injured in the attack is currently being treated at a hospital within the barracks.

The source said that there are, however, fears that the bandits may decide to kill the officers in a bid to escape.

The Academy Public Relations Officer, Major Bashir Jajira did not respond to calls put across to him by our correspondent.

Tambuwal Lists Criteria For Nigeria’s Next President
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Quote:THE Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors Forum, Governor Aminu Tambuwal, has said Nigeria needs a leader with a broad world view and not a provincial politician.

He equally noted that the leader must be incorruptible, must be a person who understands that the best way to fight corruption is by personal example and building strong institutions capable of withstanding shocks and manipulations.

Tambuwal, who is the governor of Sokoto State, said this in a statement titled, ‘2023 election: The leader Nigeria needs, by Tambuwal,’ made available to newsmen, in Abuja, on Monday, by his Media Office.

He explained that there was no magic wand to curtailing insecurity other than the deployment of relevant tools of good governance, proper technology, necessary military and police equipment, a well-trained and properly remunerated manpower and lowering of tension in the country through the enthronement of a government that serves all and not a section and group.

Tambuwal also noted that Nigeria required the services of, “A leader smart enough to realise the imperatives of restructuring our security and governance structure. MFM Prayers

“Finding such a leader is a task for all and I challenge you all today to find and support such a leader in 2023 so that Nigeria can begin the long walk back to peace, security and prosperity for all her citizens.

“Nigeria needs a versatile leader; one that has friends and associates across the length and breadth of this country. A leader with a broad worldview and not a parochial and provincial politician.

“We need an incorruptible leader who understands that the best way to fight corruption is by personal examples and also by the building of strong institutions that can withstand shocks and manipulations.

“Nigeria needs a leader in tune with the times. Who is reasonably aware of the modern demands of technology in solving societal problems.”

The governor was quoted to have said this while speaking on the topic, ‘Security Challenges in Nigeria and Its Implication for Sustainable Development,’ at Richard Akinnola’s birthday lecture held in Lagos, on Sunday.

Quote:The Kano State Hisbah Board has docked a Kannywood actress and social media blogger, Sadiya Haruna, for “uploading sexual contents on her social media handles.”

According to Daily Trust, the actress, Haruna, a resident of Kabuga Quarters was initially arrested on Friday by the Head of Surveillance Department of Kano State Hisbah Board, Malam Aliyu Usman.

She was then detained in the custody of the Islamic police until early Monday when she was brought before the Sharia court sitting in Sharada area of the state.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed against her, she was alleged to have consistently posted indecent videos in which she was dancing seductively and making sexual comments on her social media handles and YouTube channel.

The accused person pleaded guilty to a one-count charge of obscenity and indecent act, which contradicts section 355 of Penal Code Law 2000.

The presiding judge, Justice Ali Jibril Danzaki thereafter convicted her and ordered that her to be attending a Darul Hadith Islamiyya session at Tudun Yola Quarters for a period of six months as the sentencing for her offence.

He also said that her Islamiyya attendance would be monitored by the school head teacher and the Hisbah command.

Hisbah has been knocked by Nigerians for operating double standards in the country and particularly in northern Nigeria, sparing the children of the high and mighty and going after commoners in the north.

A total of 430,363 Nigerians have completed their registration for permanent voter card (PVC) after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) launched its online portal on June 28, 2021 for Nigerians to commence the registration process ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The online registeration started ahead of a full physical registration exercise which commenced on July 26.

The agency announced in a statement  on Monday, August 23, 2021 that over 2.2 million have already pre-registered online since June.

174,775 (7.9%) of the online applicants have completed in-person registration ongoing at State and LGA offices while the remaining 255,588 fully registered new voters applied directly at the physical offline locations.

The agency added that Anambra State has the highest number of fully registered new voters with a total of 30,376, ahead of Osun State (26,775) which has the highest number of online applicants with 365,412.

"Once again, the Commission appeals to all eligible citizens who have not registered before to seize the opportunity to do so," the commission said on Monday.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES,

TUESDAY 24TH AUGUST 2021.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC: DON’T CONDEMN OTHERS

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Matthew 5:16).

In your life, don’t be too quick to find fault with others. Don’t give in to the urge to condemn. The Bible says the Lord Jesus has been “…ordained by God to be Judge of the living and the dead” (Acts 10:42 NKJV). He alone is the true Judge, and He’s rich in mercy. There may be some people around you, perhaps, even in your local church that may not be living right; don’t judge them. Instead, be the light that wins them over. That’s what Jesus said in our theme verse.

One of the reasons people may not be living right where you are may be that your light isn’t shining brightly enough. When a Christian condemns other Christians about their way of life, he may think he’s being spiritual when it’s actually an expression of carnality. Don’t write anyone off because of their errors; Jesus also paid the price for their mistakes.

He took responsibility for all our wrongs. He alone has the right to judge; yet, He doesn’t condemn us.
The Bible says “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit” (Romans 8:1). People who are carnally minded only see the wrong in other people.

Those people may have actually made mistakes, or are making mistakes, but their hearts may be right with God such that when they realize their error and are corrected, they’d quickly repent. A good example is David; he did something that was wrong, but he was truly repentant and sought and received the Lord’s forgiveness (Read 2 Samuel 12:1-13). But that wasn’t the case with Saul. When Saul was rebuked for what he did wrong, he defended himself, and God was angry with him (Read 1 Samuel 15).

The local church isn’t for “perfect” people, but for perfecting people. Come as you are, and the Word of God will wash you clean; the Word will perfect you. The five-fold ministry gifts listed in Ephesians 4:11-12 are for the perfecting of the saints for the work of the ministry and for the edifying of the body of Christ.

In the Church, we can recognize when people do something that’s wrong; yet, like Jesus, don’t judge them. That’s why we share the Word of God (Read 2 Timothy 3:16-17). The Word of God has the ability to correct any man, and help them redirect their steps. Share the Gospel; don’t condemn others.

CONFESSION

The love of God is shed abroad in my heart by the Holy Spirit by whom I relate with everyone around me with lovingkindness, compassion and grace. I see the best in people, and by the Spirit, I’m able to impact them with the grace and glory of Christ; my light shines so brightly and draws men to the righteousness of God expressed in and through me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

I affirm that I am a success for Jesus! I’m imbued with divine wisdom to bless and impact my world. The Spirit of God has moved me into the realms of divine prosperity, increase, promotions, and success. I am renewed, refreshed, and well-positioned for the glorious life in Christ.

I’ve overcome the world, the devil, and the forces of hell because I am a product of the incorruptible Word of God, which lives and abides forever.

I am seated with Christ in the heavenly realms—a place of authority, victory, safety, and deliverance—far removed from all earthly distractions. Hallelujah! God has given unto me the hidden treasures of the earth! Even now, the lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; for I have a goodly heritage! I am heaping up success upon success; making progress and moving forward consistently by the power of the Holy Spirit!

I walk in the dominion of the Spirit, for I’ve been granted authority to thread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the ability of the devil! It’s my heritage to do bigger things, for I’ve been brought into a place of excellence, success, victory, and abundance.

I am empowered and inspired by the Word to think the right thoughts, speak the right words, and receive the results of the Word in my life today. I’m living an exceptionally great life, dominating circumstances and living the transcendent life God had prepared ahead of time. Glory to God. Hallelujah!

She was said to have been killed in the presence of her children.

Quote:Gunmen suspected to be bandits have shot dead a UK-based Nigerian woman, who returned to the country for her mother's burial, along the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.

She was said to have been killed in the presence of her children.

The victim, Bolanle Aworetan Omojuwa was said to have hosted loved ones at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, to celebrate her late mother's life.

She, however, decided to visit Oyo State after the funeral reception.

Unfortunately, while travelling with her two children on Thursday, she was shot dead in her car by bandits at the Guru Maharaji village, on the Lagos/Ibadan expressway.

Friends and former schoolmates have taken to various platforms to mourn her.

Alumni members of the University of Ado-Ekiti, now Ekiti State University have also taken to their WhatsApp platform to mourn the deceased, who was one of them.

One of them wrote, “They say we never die, we just change form and continue our existence in another realm. If this is true, I'm sadly mourning you with my tears. It would have been joy to our world if we weren't cut down. Bola Aworetan (CO99, Pol Sci) came home from the UK to bury her mom last week or so, and same last week, little did we know she won't return to the UK again to continue her life.

“This most adorable pretty woman was shot dead in her car in front of her children at Guru Maharaji this past Thursday; unwilling forcing her to escort her mum to the great unknown. Your death is too gripping for me. I'm bewildered and I don't know how to mourn you...”

Admit failure, fix Nigeria – CAN tells President Buhari

on
 August 23, 2021

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has advised the Federal Government to wholeheartedly admit failure and take necessary steps to fix the security challenges bedeviling the nation.

CAN believed that the reluctance of the government to exercise the political will to arrest and bring to justice those behind banditry and terrorism in the country was causing a lot of killings, kidnapping, cattle rustling and other social vices on innocent citizens in the country.

Speaking through its General Secretary, Joseph Daramola, in a statement, he said, “The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria condemns the killing of about 22 people in Plateau State and calls on the President Muhammadu Buhari and his government to stop paying lip service to the unending killings in the country.”

CAN strongly believed that stopping killing of the innocent Nigerians by criminals cannot be done by mere issuing press statements and holding periodical meetings with the security chiefs by the president.

The Christian body noted that until the government showed the political will by arresting and bringing the culprits to book, the shedding of innocent blood will not cease.

CAN said, “We charge the Federal Government to fix the security challenges or throw in the towel. The police and the military should be tasked to wake up to their responsibilities before these criminals turn the country into another Afghanistan.”

EFCC reveals why operatives broke into BBNaija Dorathy’s house

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed that its operatives broke into the residence of former BBNaija housemate, Dorathy Bachor.

Recall that Dorathy, on her Instagram page, lamented the sad incident and expressed frustration at how unsafe it is to be a Nigerian.

According to the star, the anti-graft officials allegedly broke into her house, saying they were after a suspected internet fraudster.

She said the EFCC officials identified her as a BBNaija star and left afterwards.

Reacting, EFCC in a statement on Monday said its operatives broke into the house because they refused to open the door.

”The Commission can confirm that operatives from the Lagos Command of the Commission, acting on verified intelligence, executed a Search Warrant at a block of flats located in the Lekki area of Lagos on Monday, 23rd August, 2021 during which nine internet fraud suspects were arrested.

”Ms. Bachor’s apartment happened to be one of the flats in the building. EFCC operatives had knocked on her entrance door, identified themselves as being from the Commission on a mission to execute a Search Warrant. But they were refused entry, for several minutes by Bachor’s sister. The operatives were left with no choice than to force their way in, lest suspects escape or destroy vital evidence.

”It is important to state that law-abiding citizens have no reason to refuse the execution of a validly obtained Search Warrant. And, contrary to the information making the rounds in the social media, Ms. Bachor was not present during the operation and the anti- EFCC stories about her coming out half-naked among other fantastical details appear to have been invented to fit the pattern she and other internet-fueled stars so desperately want to push about the EFCC.

”It is important to reiterate that nine alleged internet fraud suspects were apprehended in the block of flats housing Ms. Bachor’s apartment.”

Neighbours Call Fire Brigade After Hearing Nigerian Shout 'Holy Fire' In London

Quote:Neighbours call fire brigade after mistaking mum, 60, singing 'holy fire' for calls for help

She had been singing along to a call and response part of a gospel church service on Facebook when two fire engines turned up

BY MELISSA SIGODO
18:00, 20 AUG 2021

A North London mum was shocked when firefighters turned up at her home after neighbours mistook her singing 'Holy Ghost Fire!' to be a plea for help.

Mercy, 60, who attends her local place of worship on a weekly basis and prays along to her daily church service on Facebook Live, could not believe it when two fire engines showed up at her home on Wednesday morning (August, 11).

Her daughter Vivienne, 26, a fellow songstress who appeared on ITV's The Voice in 2020, had just arrived home from the gym, and said that within minutes of entering the house, she saw firefighters park outside the family home.

The singer said: “Within seven minutes, two fire brigades pulled up and at first I thought 'there's no way, there's no way'.

Vivienne wasn't sure who called 999, but assumed that one of their neighbours heard her “prayer warrior” mother shouting the impassioned gospel lyrics, during the call and response segment of the streamed sermon.

The Londoner said: “I came back from the gym so I caught the aftermath of it, but I could hear that she was praying.

“She has a Facebook live stream that she watches in the morning so she prays to that.

“She was was kind of doing the call and response thing. I could hear it as I was coming up and kind of said 'hi' and went in the house”.

Vivienne said the firefighters appeared perplexed as they asked if anyone had been shouting the word “fire”.

Vivienne said: “They said we've been called for fire, and we said ‘there isn’t one’ and then confirmed the address and they said ‘are you sure, have you checked everything's fine?’."

The Londoner watched on as the puzzled firemen left the house after quizzing the family, “to go and listen to the original call”, returning once more to clarify their confusion.

The North London resident said: “They came back again and said, ‘we're not being funny but was anyone shouting the word “fire”?’.

Vivienne and her mum, Mercy, say they were hesitant to explain the reason why the matriarch’s heartfelt shouting had been mistaken for alarm.

The 26-year-old said: “I thought, ‘I'm not going to answer personally’, and my mum was like ‘mmm I'm not sure, I'm not sure’.

"The firemen said, ‘it's fine if you were, it’s just that somebody called and said that's what they could hear’, and we said, ‘there's nothing going on’

The Londoner says the emergency service workers asked to check the house and questioned whether the musical family had problems with their neighbours, which could have motivated them to pull a prank or target them by calling police.

The singer said: “We just said, no, everything's all good’. We said, ‘sorry about the confusion, we don't know what has happened’.

Vivienne found the experience “hilarious” and said the firefighters also laughed during the baffling moments.

Overall, the Londoner felt that the call was definitely a result of culture clash in the “gentrified” neighbourhood.

Vivienne said: “I thought it was hilarious. I just thought I can't believe this is real, it feels scripted because they were all laughing as well.

“It’s 100 percent culture clash. If it was 10 years ago before our road became a lot more gentrified, I don't think that would have happened.

“But they [whoever called 999] didn’t understand the context and didn't do any work to figure out what was actually going on”.

Vivienne felt that they could have at least checked the home first, before calling the emergency services number, and that she hoped they had learned their lesson and felt that the same incident wouldn’t happen again.

The 26-year-old said: “In a sense, it was out of care potentially but also a misinterpretation of culture there.

“I'm thinking they learned their lesson and they won't call again, because really, I think they should have checked before calling.

“Because if you can't see any smoke or smell anything, I would have just checked.

“If you hear someone saying fire, go and investigate first”.

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said firefighters from Holloway and Hornsey were called at 10.07am and they had established there was no fire within 10 minutes.

Married Kenyan police officer assaults his mistress, follows her to hospital and shoots her dead before committing suicide

A married police officer, Constable Bernard Sivo, 28, shot his sidechick dead before committing suicide at Njoro in Nakuru County, Kenya.

It was gathered that on Sunday night, August 22, an enraged Sivo stormed Njoro Subcounty Hospital with an AK 47 assault rifle fully loaded with bullets.

According to a police report, his 29-year-old girlfriend, Mary Nyambura visited the hospital an hour earlier with a fracture on her right leg and told the doctors that she had been assaulted by the police constable.

As the doctors were attending to her, an enraged Sivo opened fire killing Nyambura on the spot. He shot her several times on the right arm, right wrist, and right back. She died on the spot.

The officer had just taken over shift duties at the Njoro Police Station that night before excusing himself to make a call outside, only to pursue the woman to the hospital.

Vincent Lematoo, a security officer in the hospital recounted how the constable got in the hospital with rage, before shooting at the lady who had come to the hospital just a while ago.

"He got here at 12am, an hour after the lady. He pushed me to get out of his way in, and he began shooting immediately." he narrated.

Njoro Subcounty Police Commander, Jonathan Kisaka, who confirmed the incident said that Mary, is said to have broken her legs, after allegedly being assaulted by the police constable, and had gone to the hospital to seek treatment before the officer walked in and shot her.

“It is a sad morning in Njoro. We had an incident at around 0023hours where the OCS Njoro received information of a patient who had gone to the hospital to seek medication after being assaulted by a person she claimed was her boyfriend. Soon after another person showed up at the hospital and it later emerged he was the one who had assaulted her. He was armed and he shot the patient from his Ak 47 riffle. He was later identified as a police officer stationed at the Njoro Police station,” Kisaka explained.

According to Kisaka, Sivo then left the station for home where he again shot once in the air, after informing his wife that he had killed the person with whom she had been having problems with.

"He told the wife that the woman you have been conflicting with is now dead," Kisaka added.

The wife however fled for safety, and while Sivo was walking back to the station, he promised the OCS who had heard the gunshots that he would not shoot again but still shot in the air severally.

Moments later, drama ensued at the Njoro police station when Constable Sivo got wild and started shooting aimlessly.

Kisaka said that the station was for a while taken hostage when Sivo moved away, albeit momentarily.

However, immediately after, police officers were mobilised and when Sivo realised that the situation was not good for him, he shot himself to death.

On the rising cases of police officers killing their colleagues, family and friends, Kisaka said that those are personal weaknesses, since for Sivo, he had not shown any signs of depression, and he had been a performing officer since Njoro was his first working station.

The bodies of the deceased have since been transferred to the Egerton University Morgue awaiting postmortem.

He said;

Quote:“As far as the law is concerned, the President cannot, (with profound respect), be talking of looking for grazing routes in 2021, Nigeria.
“The Northern Governor Forum, the Southern Governors Forum, and even the Miyetti Allah group have all come to a conclusion that open grazing is obsolete.

The Ghanaian police has arrested popular footballer and sports commentator in the Sunyani Municipality, Richard Gyamfi a.k.a Fire Man after three human heads were found in his fridge.

Confirming the news to Sunyani based Sky FM, the father of one of the deceased victims, Mr Thomas Agyei explained that the footballer reportedly lured his son, 13-year-old Louis Agyemang Junior from a football park at Sunyani Abesim into his room and killed him.

Gyamfi became a suspect after he denied seeing the boy upon being confronted. After the boy's parents visited the footballer's home and saw that it was locked, they invited some boys in the area to break into the room only to find the body of Louis Agyemang Junior lying prostrate in cold blood with his head slashed away.

The suspect was reportedly beaten before he was handed over to the Sunyani Abesim Police. A search by the police discovered human being body parts in a sack. In his fridge, he had three human heads including that of Louis Agyemang. The Abesim Police handed him over to the Bono Regional Police Command for further investigations.

Atiku attended Buhari son’s wedding, ignored PDP crisis – Adeyanju

 August 22, 2021

Former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has been mocked for attending the wedding of President Muhammadu Buhari’s son, Yusuf in Kano State.

Deji Adeyanju, popular Abuja-based rights activist said Atiku attended the wedding of Buhari’s son while ignoring the crisis in PDP.

Adeyanju said all through the PDP crisis last week, the former Vice President was in Morocco but urgently returned to attend Yusuf’s wedding in Kano.

In a series of tweets, Adeyanju wrote: “All throughout the PDP crisis in the last 3 weeks + the resignation of their NWC members, Atiku was in Morocco chilling with his new wife but Buhari’s son wedding is so urgent, he had to come back to attend.”

Atiku alongside some chieftains of the PDP had attended Yusuf’s wedding.
The wedding witnessed former President Goodluck Jonathan; former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode; and some PDP governors.

Meanwhile, PDP has witnessed some measure of crisis among its members.
Some aggrieved PDP members had called for the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Uche Secondus.
Members of the former ruling party had accused Secondus of failing to manage PDP.

Lately, several people have defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

This had further inflamed the crisis within the party.

Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has reacted to the killing of two Methodist clerics in Benue State, 22 people in Katsina and 14 people in Kaduna by bandits.

Omokri wondered if Nigeria still has a government with the spate of killings by bandits across the country.
According to Omokri, bandits killed 28 people on Sunday across different states.

In a tweet, Omokri wrote: “Bandits kill 12 people in Duba, Katsina. Bandits kill 14 people in Kaduna. Bandits kill 2 Methodist pastors in Benue.

“Bandits who kidnapped baptist students to start charge interest on unpaid ransom.

“All this happened today. Does Nigeria really have a government?”

Recall that Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State had earlier condemned the killing of two pastors in the state.
Ortom had urged security operatives to ensure that those behind the killings are arrested and make to face the wrath of the law.

The governor had vowed not to allow criminals override the state.

Adamawa Police arrest poly student for allegedly killing and burying his pregnant girlfriend in shallow grave

Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a student of the Federal Polytechnic Mubi, Muniru Abubakar, his two accomplices for allegedly killing and burying his pregnant girlfriend in a shallow grave.

It was gathered that the deceased, Franca Elisha Iliya, an ND 2 Library Science student of same institution, who was was impregnated by Abubakar, died while the suspects were trying to abort the baby.

Abubakar claimed that they both did not want to keep the baby and mutually agreed to secretly terminate the pregnancy.

According to the police, Abubakar took the deceased into his room located at a students’ community behind the State University, Mubi, for the abortion on the 6th August 2021 and invited his friend, Huzaifa Shuaibu who is a student of the College of Health Technology, Mubi, to carry out the abortion.

Huzaifa was said to have administered an injection to Franca for the abortion but she fainted immediately and regained consciousness later after spirited efforts.

Upon recovering, she was given the second dose of the injection after which she was said to have fainted again and never to recover and subsequently died in the room.

Sensing danger, Muniru Abubakar was said to have invited one of his other friends, a student of the Polytechnic, Rabiu Adamu, who conspired with them to bury the corpse in a shallow grave with her mobile phone, national identity card and other items that can expose the heinous crime they have committed.

The suspects were eventually arrested after the father of the deceased, Mr Elisha Iliya, raised alarm over his missing daughter.

Iliya, who resides at Sabon Gari in Mubi, told Tribune Online that his daughter left home on that fateful day for school, but did not return, and that they searched everywhere as well as made contacts, but to no avail.

Iliya said that they met her colleagues in the school and one of them disclosed that she left the deceased with her boyfriend, Abubakar and returned to hostel because it was raining.

The police with family members eventually found Abubakar playing football where he was arrested and he was made to take them to where Franca was buried.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, who confirmed the arrest said that the Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Alhaji, has ordered full investigation into the incident.

Nguroje said that investigation so far revealed that it was Muniru Abubakar who impregnated the deceased, Huzaifa Shuaibu, that administered the injection, while Rabiu Adamu assisted in burying the corpse.

The PPRO said that the suspects will soon be charged to court soon.

Meanwhile, the father of the deceased has appealed to relevant authorities to do everything possible and ensure that justice is done.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES,

MONDAY 23RD AUGUST 2021.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC: THE POWER OF OBEDIENCE

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross (Philippians 2:8).

God has His structures and systems, and operates by principles, but there’re those who always choose their own way. The Bible says
there’s a way that seems right to a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death (Proverbs 14:12). It pays to listen to God and follow His ways. Never walk in disobedience.

For example, as a result of Adam’s disobedience, the Bible tells us “Death ruled like a king ...” (Romans 5:17 CEV). The Amplified Classic translation puts it this way: “...because of one man’s trespass (lapse, offense) death reigned through that one....” Well then, as one man’s disobedience led to condemnation for all men, so also did Christ’s act of righteousness lead to eternal life and divine acquittal of all men. Jesus, the second and last Adam, did this by obedience.

We also read in our opening verse that He “... being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.” Remember that Jesus is Himself God, but nothing was going to make Him rebellious against the Father. He was going to be obedient unto death, even the death of the Cross. God had to respond to the obedience of Jesus: “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name” (Philippians 2:9).

He was given the highest title that could be conferred, because of His obedience. Glory to God!
Obedience is a great blessing in the realm of the Spirit. Being born again, you have an obedient spirit; the Bible calls us obedient children (1 Peter 1:14). So, it’s natural for you to walk in the light of God’s Word, and be completely yielded to spiritual instructions.

PRAYER

My life is consecrated to you, dear Father; thank you for your love for me, and for your glory in my life! Today and always, I live to glorify you, serving you with whole-hearted devotion, keeping your Word, fulfilling your purpose for my life, and producing works of righteousness, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

1 Peter 1:13-14 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

Philippians 2:5-10

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

1-YEAR BIBLE READING PLAN: 1 Corinthians 8 & Psalms 120-127

2-YEAR BIBLE READING PLAN: Luke 18:18-27 & 1 Samuel 10

God bless you

550 sheep killed by single lightning strike on mountain

Local residents were left shocked after more than 500 sheep were found dead after reportedly being hit by a single lightning strike while grazing on a mountain pasture in southern Georgia.

According to news reports, Nikolay Levanov, a sheep owner, received a distressing phone call from his sheepherder that told him over a hundred of his sheep had been killed in a thunderstorm.

Levanov later discovered that along with his own herd, 400 other sheep had also been killed by the same strike.

Luckily, the sheepherder was only knocked unconscious by the lighting and was able to recover.

Shocking footage captured at the scene shows hundreds of sheep carcasses laying dead.

Levanov and the other sheep owners have appealed to Georgian authorities for financial assistance to help with their mass losses, but they said a scientific commission had to determine if the lightning was definitely the cause of death.

"To be honest, this is the first such case. We have not heard that a thunderstorm could kill so many sheep," the deputy mayor of Ninotsminda, Alexander Mikeladze, said.

"Of course, the mayor’s office will provide support, but first, the farmer himself must bring the opinion of experts in order to accurately determine the cause of the mass death."

It was announced that the 550 sheep were to be burned on the site, as mountainous terrain made it difficult to transport them away.

A United States court, on Friday, August 20, sentenced a Nigerian man to  51 months in federal prison.

Ismaila Fafunmi was imprisoned for fraudulently obtaining over $370k from senior citizens in the U.S.

US district judge, Karen Caldwell, convicted Fafunmi for money laundering of the proceeds of romance fraud and grant fraud schemes targeting senior citizens.

Fafunmi, under the federal law, must serve 85 percent of his prison sentence and upon his release from prison, he will be under the supervision of the U.S. Probation Office for three years.

Fafunmi, a resident of Indianapolis, according to court documents involved in a network that was composed of several layers.

The convict and his co-conspirators, according to the court documents, created bank accounts in various names to retrieve the funds sent by their victims. They also received cash and poster money. The document added that the convict retained a portion of the money they got fraudulently while converting the remainder to wire transfers to Nigeria for his co-conspirators.

Fafunmi pleaded guilty in August 2020 and was sentenced on August 20, 2021.

The case was investigated by the FBI and prosecuted as part of the Department of Justice’s Elder Justice Mission to identify and prosecute those persons who facilitate elder financial exploitation.

Gumi Blasts Politicians Who Attended Yusuf Buhari's Wedding With Hired Jets
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Quote:Politicians who attended Buhari’s son’s wedding with hired jets are not different from bandits ― Gumi

An Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi has said politicians who attended the wedding of Yusuf Buhari with hired jets are not different from bandits.

“People think only those in the bush (bandits) milk us dry, no! Even our leaders milk us dry. Where did they get the money to hire all these jets?” he said

Recall, the president’s son, Yusuf, married Zarah Nasir Bayero, the daughter of Emir of Bichi, Nasiru Bayero in a grand ceremony that was witnessed by creme de la creme in Bichi and Kano on Friday and Saturday.

Speaking during a preaching session at Sultan Bello mosque, Kaduna on Friday evening, Sheikh Gumi described the hiring of private jets to attend the wedding as a waste of public funds.

Citing example with one of the disciples of the holy Prophet Umar bn Kattab, he said the Caliph of Islam (Umar) once took 16 dinar, which is equivalent to N2,040,000 today, from the treasury as estacode to Hajj.

However, after he returned he (Umar) admitted to Abdallah that they wasted public funds.

“Somebody told me private jets in Nigeria were all hired for the wedding of Buhari’s son. With your money, you can’t get a private jet because they were all booked.

“Some people are in captivity in both the bush and cities. Hunger is everywhere. People are facing all manner of problems, yet politicians spent public funds on private jets.

“First it was not an obligatory religious gathering. Umar bn Kattab went to Hajj and yet he admitted it was a waste of public funds. Here we are, public funds were taken to hire the private jets.”

He also took a swipe at some religious leaders saying politicians have corrupted some clergymen.

“Some of the religious leaders have become subservient to politicians,” he declared.

“Some religious leaders cannot survive without behaving in servile manner towards politicians.

“Politicians have spoilt the clerics. Atrocities are committed in the country but no one can speak up.

“You are spending money to hire jets to go to wedding, while criminals are holding people to ransom in the bush. The criminals (bandits) are milking the people.

“Some people have never earned N1million in their life, but bandits would demand N10million. How many people sold their houses, farms, everything… and collected loans to pay ransom?

“People think only those in the bush (bandits) milk us dry, no! Even our leaders milk us dry. Where did they get the money to hire all these jets?

“In one of the states, some pictures of a dilapidated hospital were sent to me. The roof was blown off and a patient was lying on the bed. That governor is in Kano to attend wedding.

Nigerian children are second most affected by climate change globally - UNICEF

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has ranked Nigeria as second highest-risk country where children are susceptible to the impact of climate change.

In UNICEF's “Children’s Climate Risk Index” ranking of 163 countries released on Friday, August 20, the UN agency ranked Central Africa Republic (CAR) the highest risk country, while Nigeria and Republic of Chad followed as second on the list.

The report said Nigeria’s low rating was due to children’s high exposure to air pollution and coastal floods.

The report added that investment in social services, particularly child health, nutrition and education could help to reverse the trend, safeguard children’s future and provide better protection against climate change.

It added that “the 33 extremely high-risk countries – including Nigeria – collectively emit just 9 per cent of global CO2 emissions.

“Only one of these countries is ranked as `extremely high-risk’ in the index. Young people living in Nigeria are among those most at risk of the impacts of climate change, threatening their health, education and protection.

“Approximately one billion children, nearly half of the world’s 2.2 billion children, live in one of the 33 countries classified as ‘extremely high-risk’.

“These findings reflect the number of children impacted today, with figures likely to get worse as the impact of climate change accelerates.”

The UNICEF report ranked countries based on children’s exposure to climate and environmental shocks such as cyclones and heatwaves, as well as their vulnerability to those shocks, based on their access to essential services.

The index reveals that globally, 240 million children are highly exposed to coastal flooding, while 330 million are highly exposed to coastal flooding.

It further revealed that “400 million children are highly exposed to cyclones and 600 million are highly exposed to vector borne diseases.

“Also, 815 million children are highly exposed to lead pollution and 820 million children are highly exposed to heat waves.

“920 million children are highly exposed to water scarcity and one billion children are highly exposed to exceedingly high levels of air pollution.” read the report

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES,

SUNDAY 22ND AUGUST 2021.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC: REIGNING IN RIGHTEOUSNESS

For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ) (Romans 5:17).

Every child of God is a king in this life, and called to reign in righteousness. Righteousness gives you the ability to stand in the presence of God without condemnation; to stand in fellowship with God, having His rightness in your spirit. This is where our audacity of faith comes from.

This is the reason we’re bold to make demands in His Name, decree a thing and have it established. It’s because our righteousness is of Him, not what you did or didn’t do, but what Jesus did. God declared you righteous freely, and declared Himself to be righteous by so doing: “To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus” (Romans 3:26). Hallelujah!

Righteousness makes us masters; it gives us dominion. You’re not a victim, but a victor in Christ Jesus. John knew this and declared, “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4).

God has imparted His nature of righteousness to you, and that’s what makes you like Him. That nature makes you think, see, and talk like Him. You’ve been raised to His level through Christ. Our opening verse says, _*“…they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.” You’ve received grace to reign over and above Satan and the elements of this world.

The Bible says He’s made us kings and priests and we shall reign on the earth. Kings reign by issuing decrees and pronouncements; Ecclesiastes 8:4 says, “Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou?” No wonder the Bible says you shall decree a thing, and it shall be established unto you (Job 22:28).

PRAYER

Holy and righteous Father, thank you for giving me your righteousness, granting me the ability to boldly stand before you without guilt, condemnation, inferiority or blame. In righteousness, I reign and rule in life, bringing glory to your Name. I walk in perpetual victory, manifesting your glory in every place, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

Romans 5:17 AMPC
For if because of one man’s trespass (lapse, offense) death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive [God’s] overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift of righteousness [putting them into right standing with Himself] reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

Romans 5:20-21
Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: 21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

Revelation 5:10
And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

I affirm that as the deer pants after the water brooks, so pants my soul after you, O God. The Lord is the source of my life, my joy, and my satisfaction! In him I am complete! I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!

I’ve been endued with power from on high, to win and reign in life as a king. I am more than a conqueror, because greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world! I am excellent and full of glory.

I function daily from a vantage position of boldness, audacity and victory in Christ Jesus. I do not struggle but enjoy a blissful life of success, and an unending stream of the miraculous, Hallelujah!

I am in charge; as I vocalize my faith, mountains move, valleys are filled and every crooked path is made straight! The Word of faith that changes things is in my heart and in my mouth, sharper than any two-edged sword; therefore the situations and circumstances of life conform with God’s destiny for me.

I belong to Christ; I am Abraham’s seed and an heir according to the promise. The seed of greatness is in my spirit. I am the image and icon of the resurrected Christ; I live the heavenly life here on earth. I manifest His love, kindness, glory, perfections and graces everywhere, saturating my world and the regions beyond with His glory! Hallelujah!

Quote:The Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth has honoured Fareedah Oyolola, a secondary school student at Greensprings School, Lagos, as one of the brightest students in the world.

This recognition is a result of her exceptional performance in the advanced School and College Ability Test (SCAT), which every student must undergo in order for the institution to determine their current academic abilities before admitting them into its talent search programme.

Sharing her experience about the test, Fareedah said: “The test was a multiple-choice aptitude test in verbal and quantitative reasoning, and I had to answer 100 questions within 44 minutes! At the end of the test, my score was in the 92nd percentile for verbal reasoning and 87th percentile for quantitative reasoning.

There’s no way I would have gotten these high scores with such a limited time window if not for the great work put in by my teachers, towards developing my comprehension abilities and mathematical reasoning skills. I am very grateful to them.”

In a statement issued by the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, the Executive Director; Virginia Roach, congratulated Fareedah and other outstanding students across the world. She said, “We are thrilled to celebrate these students. In a year that was anything but ordinary, their love of learning shined through, and we are excited to help cultivate their growth as scholars and citizens throughout high school, college, and beyond.”

Mrs Magdalene Okrikri, the secondary school principal at Greensprings Anthony campus, also expressed her satisfaction with Fareedah’s honour. She said, “This honour brings great joy to my heart. Fareedah’s achievement is a testament that our Thinking School programme is rewarding to our students, helping them to develop mentally and strengthening their cognitive abilities.”

The Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth is an initiative of Johns Hopkins University committed to nurturing extraordinary young minds. Its 2020 – 2021 programme draws nearly 19,000 students from 84 countries. Fareedah and other honourees from other countries are expected to attend a summer programme in the United States or Hong Kong

How Afghanistan Fell After Obasanjo Attended Peace Meeting In Kabul

Days ago, on Sunday, the Islamic militant group known as the Taliban retook Kabul, Afghanistan’s capital city, but the fall of the landlocked Asian country had been seen by many observers when US President Joe Biden started the withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan beginning in early July.

To avert the imminent collapse of the war-torn country with 39 million people and promote peaceand stability, ex-Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, had in July travelled to Kabul and met with some leaders of the country as well as envoys of neighbouring countries.

Obasanjo, unarguably one of the prestigious global citizens from Africa, had met with the Ambassador of Pakistan to Afghanistan, Mansoor Ahmad Khan, members of the Aga Khan Development Network, as well as other diplomatic representatives. AKDN is an international organisation which “brings together a number of development agencies, institutions, and programmes that work primarily in the poorest parts of Asia and Africa”.

Announcing Obasanjo’s presence at the meeting in Kabul on July 5, Khan had in a tweet captioned a photo, “Today, frank discussions at lunch with former President of Nigeria, Excellency Olusegun Obasanjo, hosted by AKDN Ambassador, (Hijri) Sheherzade, about promoting long term peace, stability, reconciliation and development in Afghanistan.”

Obasanjo, Nigeria’s democratically elected President between 1999 and 2007, had been instrumental to the restoration of peace in many parts of Africa including Liberia, Sudan, Ethiopia, amongst others.

The former Nigerian military head of state between July 1975 and February 1976 had sat on many peace committees including those of the United Nations, African Union and Economic Community of West African States.

Obasanjo is a global peace personality -Secondus

Speaking of Obasanjo’s “peace wand”, embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Uche Secondus, on Thursday, described the ex-President as a “global personality, resolving issues across the world. In fact, the last place I learnt Baba visited was Afghanistan; despite the situation in that country, he went there and came back alive.”

Secondus ran to Obasanjo in his Abeokuta home on Thursday to save him from his many troubles within the party.

Though it appeared the octogenarian was unable to pull his “peace wand” in Afghanistan, only time would tell whether Obasanjo’s “peace touch” would work for Secondus whom some party chieftains want out as chairman.

Sunday Igboho to seek asylum, return to Nigeria after Buhari’s tenure – Lawyer

on
 August 21, 2021

Yoruba nation freedom fighter, Sunday Igboho, has disclosed that he will seek asylum in Benin Republic and France when he leaves prison.

This was disclosed by one of his lawyers, Olusegun Falola.

Falola also disclosed that Igboho would not return to Nigeria until the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari leaves office.
The counsel said his client’s continued stay in Benin Republic is a blessing in disguise.

“Igboho’s arrest shows he was cheated, because he didn’t commit any criminal offence. He is under Benin Republic’s protection.

“Nigeria did not show up in court or bring up evidence against Igboho. So there are no criminal charges against him. When he leaves prison, he’ll demand asylum from other countries including France, and they will be ready to receive him.

“So he’ll return back to Nigeria when the administration that is against him leaves office.

“The judges asked him if he had land in Cotonou and he responded that he has a land in Seme. So, there is still danger ahead. Igboho’s asylum in Cotonou is for him to stay in the country and do his businesses in the country and also travel to Germany to either live there or to travel to and fro. He’ll use Benin as his new home until Buhari’s tenure is over just for his own safety,” Nation quoted Falola as saying.

About a month ago, Igboho was arrested in Cotonou while trying to travel to Germany.

This was after the freedom fighter fled Nigeria after he was declared wanted by the Department of State Services, DSS.

DSS declared Igboho wanted after an invasion of his house, and weapons were discovered during the raid.

While Igboho is currently standing trial in Cotonou, the Nigerian government is yet to level any charges against the agitator.

Empress Njamah Blames Buhari For Missing Her Flight

Quote:Nollywood actress, Empress Njamah has expressed outrage after she missed her flight because all roads were blocked so Buhari could pass.

The actress in a video on her Instagram page on Friday said despite leaving 3 hours earlier for the airport, she was in a roadblock for an hour and twenty minutes just because the President of Nigeria was passing.

”It pains me so much that I had to miss my flight even after I left my house three hours before departure time just because there was a roadblock and this is because President Buhari was going for a ceremony.

”So, because the President of the Republic of Nigeria was passing all roads were blocked and I was stuck in traffic for one hour twenty minutes. Holy Prayers

”When am like this my heart begins to beat faster than normal, that smile and glow disappears, a frown is obvious, anger is bad for the health and that’s the reason we are not friends. I pray for calmness and will keep praying to our country Nigeria.

DAILY POST had reported that on Friday, as the President headed to Kano for the wedding of his son, Yusuf and Zahra Bayero, the road leading to Abuja airport was shut down.

Motorists, commuters, logistics operators, among others, were caught in a gridlock that lasted hours.

Many got to their destinations – airport, hospitals, shops, schools, workplaces, appointment venues – behind schedule.

Also, Yusuf and Zahra’s union is expected to take place Friday afternoon after Jummah prayers, amid the surging third wave of COVID-19.

This comes after presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu claimed his principal shunned the funeral of late COAS, Attahiru, who died in a military plane crash near the Kaduna airport because he dislikes the idea of closing roads and security men molesting people for the right of way.

Quote:Five persons have been crushed to death in an accident along Tombia-Amassoma, a road leading to the newly opened Bayelsa State Airport and the state-owned Niger Delta University (NDU).

The accident, which happened Thursday evening, was said to have involved a Venza car and two tricycles heading towards Amassoma community.

An eye witness, Mr Stephen Jones, said the driver of the Venza lost the control as a result of the downpour and rammed into two oncoming tricycles, leading to the death of five passengers with others injured.

He said that men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) had evacuated the corpses and deposited them at a mortuary in Yenagoa, while the injured persons were taken to hospital for treatment.

Authorities of Bayelsa State Command of the FRSC have yet to comment on the auto crash.
However, an official, who did not want his name mentioned, said the accident occurred due to speeding by the Venza driver .
“The driver lost control and rammed into the tricycles,” he added.

The Tombia-Amassoma road is said to have witnessed heavy traffic recently due to the commencement of commercial flight operations at the airport.

"You Are Already A Failure" - PDP Berates Buhari
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 08-21-2021, 10:02 AM - No Replies

Quote:August 20, 2021

Press Statement

You are already a failure, PDP Mocks Buhari…Says Lame Attempt At Damage Control Can’t Help APC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has told President Muhammadu Buhari that he is already a failure in governance and will leave a failure, adding that his attempt at political damage control cannot help his fizzling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The PDP describes the statement by President Buhari that he will not leave office as a failure as “medicine after death” noting that as long as he is a product of the corrupt, inept, directionless and anti-people APC, he will leave as a failed leader.

The party asserts that President Buhari’s veiled admission of failure, which smacks as a tactic to exonerate the APC, is an exercise in futility as the APC, which now only exists on paper, will soon fizzle from our political firmament, having shown itself as perverted platform that cannot be entrusted with governance at any level in our country.

President Buhari and his APC have failed in their three-pronged promises of security, anti-corruption and economic development.

They have instead wrecked all sectors of our nation life with no hope in sight.

What explanation can the Buhari Presidency and the APC offer for failing to decisively tackle terrorists, insurgents and bandits, who are daily ravaging our communities, killing and maiming our compatriots in various states across the country, despite the huge resources at their disposal?

How do President Buhari and APC leaders sleep at night when they know that due to their incompetence and compromises, hundreds of Nigerians, including school children are languishing in kidnappers’ den at the mercies of their assailants and the elements?

President Buhari has so failed as a Commander-in-Chief that non-state actors have taken over, with regions now resorting to their own security outfits while state governors, including his home, Katsina state governor, Aminu Bello Masari, telling helpless victims of terror attacks to defend themselves.

On the economy front, President Buhari has only succeeded in ruining the once robust economy handed over to him by the PDP administration in 2015 and turned Nigeria into the poverty capital of the world, where over 82.9 million once thriving Nigerians can no longer afford their daily meals and other necessities of life.

Moreover, the Buhari Presidency cannot point to any landmark project it conceptualized, started and completed in the last six years.

All it can boast of is the mortgaging of the future of our nation with accumulated N33.107 trillion debt with nothing to show and no clear repayment plan.

More atrocious is that Mr. President is seeking to borrow additional N5.62 trillion, when he knows that he has less than two years in office.

Rather than fighting corruption, the APC-led Buhari administration has become the citadel of corruption where over N15 trillion naira have reportedly been stolen by APC leaders from various agencies under the cover of government.

Nigerians can recall how the PDP recently held a strategic meeting where suggestions on how to entrench unity, reduce tension, fight insurgency, curb corruption and restore our nation to the path of economic progress, were placed at the behest of Mr. President and how he failed to listen to the voice of reason.

What is expected of Mr. President and the APC at this point is for them to end their media orchestrations, apologize for their failure and allow Nigerians to chart a fresh course as they rally with the PDP to salvage our dear nation.

Signed:

Kola Ologbondiyan
National Publicity Secretary

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SATURDAY 21ST AUGUST.

THE WORD CONDITIONS YOUR SPIRIT

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind… (Romans 12:2).

Something very significant the Word of God does in your life is the conditioning of your spirit. The Word of God can condition you to think like God. It’s the reason we’re admonished to renew our minds with the Word through meditation.

When the Word gets into your spirit through meditation, you’re programmed to live accordingly. Circumstances, the world around you, and other voices may try to sway you from the Word, but they won’t succeed if your spirit is conditioned by the Word.

For example, if you’ve been timid or afraid, meditate on the Word. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Keep affirming, “I have a sound mind; I’m bold, courageous, and full of power.” Before long, the Word will condition your spirit with boldness, courage and excellence; you’ll become audacious in faith. The Word has conditioned my spirit to think the Kingdom way, to be bold and very courageous; and nothing can change that.

The Word is the foundation for a great life. The Word in you makes you impregnable to the crises of life; it makes you think, see and act from the view-point of advantage and victory only. With such a mentality, everything you do prospers; you walk in excellence and grace. It makes no difference the challenges you face or who might be working against you; you’re unperturbed, because the Word has conditioned your spirit to know that nothing and no one can successfully stand against you.

Get the Word into you. Colossians 3:16 says to let the Word of God dwell in you richly. Take your personal study of the Word and times of meditation more seriously. That way, the Word will mingle with your spirit, grow mightily in you and over any situation you’re dealing with, and prevail. Then you’d find that you’re full of joy every day, full of health and strength. Praise God!

CONFESSION

The Word of God has transformed my mind and programmed my spirit for greatness, success and excellence. I’m bold, courageous and audacious in faith; I think Kingdom-thoughts and see only from the perspective of the Word, because the Word has cultured my mind and conditioned my spirit. Glory to God!

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

I affirm that I’ve been chosen and ordained by God to be productive in all areas of my life! I have the mind of Christ; therefore, my mind is anointed for growth and supernatural success! At all times,

I know what to do; when to do what I should do, and how to do what I should do, through the guidance and light that I have received from the Holy Spirit and the Word. I am filled with the fullness of God. I make progress and win every day. Hallelujah!

I am not ordinary; I’m called to reign in life, over and above the corrupting influences of this world: sickness, lack, and everything that limits. I am a vital member of the family of God— a member of Christ’s body, of His flesh, and of His bones.

Daily, I am invigorated with divine might and ability in my spirit for the supernatural. I am powered to do the impossible, for greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world.

The grace of God is multiplied in my life through the knowledge of the Word. I am strengthened with divine might to bring the realities of the kingdom into the earth.

My input will always produce results. Hallelujah. I am fruitful and productive in every area of life; for God is at work in me both to will and to do of His good pleasure. Glory to God!

Lai Mohammed explains why repentant Boko Haram members can't be prosecuted

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has given a reason why repentant Biko Haram members cannot be prosecuted.

In recent weeks, no fewer than 1000 Boko Haram fighters and their families have handed themselves over to the Army in the southern Borno towns of Konduga, Bama, and Mafa. The repentant insurgents have gone on to be rehabilitated and reintegrated by the military.

This action has been condemned by many Nigerians who are of the opinion that instead of rehabilitation, the surrendered insurgents should be prosecuted for acts of terrorism.

However, in an interview with NAN in Washington, Mohammed explained why the repentant insurgents can't be prosecuted. In his words

Quote:“I personally spoke to the military authority before I left Nigeria and they said what they were doing is what the global practice dictates about soldiers that surrendered that should be treated as prisoners of war.

You cannot just shoot them because there are international conventions that give rights also to prisoners of war
What the military is doing is that, when they surrender, they profile them to ensure that they are genuine and reintegrate them into the society,’’ he said

He applauded the military for the recent increase in the number of insurgents that are turning themselves in.
Quote:“The fact that we are witnessing insurgents submitting in droves calls for commendation of our military for their doggedness.

We must not forget that two months ago, Nigerians were putting pressure on the President to recruit mercenaries to fight the war against terror because they said we were losing the war.

The President, however, remained focused and confident in his belief in the Nigerian military that they have what it takes to defeat the insurgents.

We thank God that Mr President today has been proven right.

We were able to achieve this, largely because of the leadership of Mr President in providing the wherewithal continually to the military and ensuring that their fighting morale is sustained by way of welfare packages’’ he said

Femi Fani-Kayode In Kano For Yusuf Buhari's Wedding

Quote:Pre-wedding festivities have already begun but the main event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 21.

Several dignitaries, including governors and ministers, are thronging Kano to attend the event.

Femi Fani-Kayode, a fierce Buhari critic, announced via his Facebook page that he arrived in Kano on Thursday to attend the ceremony.

Fani-Kayode said he flew into the centre of commerce in the company of Bello Matawalle and Babagana Zulum, governors of Zamfara and Borno states; Isa Pantami, minister of communications and digital economy; Nuhu Ribadu, pioneer chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and other dignitaries, a number of which he (Fani-Kayode) has publicly attacked.

Despite his criticism of them, Fani-Kayode referred to them as “my friends”, adding that “it is a pleasure and a joy to be here”.

“Flew into Kano with my friends and brothers Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara state, Governor Babagana Umar Zulum of Borno State, Senator Sani Ahmed Yarima, Senator Ali Ndume, Ambassador Bashir Yuguda, Hon. Minister Isa Pantami, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and others for the wedding ceremony of President Muhammadu Buhari’s son, Yusuf Buhari, to HRH Nasiru Ado Bayero, the Emir of Bichi’s daughter, Zahra Ado Bayero,” Fani Kayode wrote.

Dollar Bribes Received By Lawmakers To Pass PIB - Sahara Reporters

EXPOSED: Dollar Bribes Received By Nigeria's Senate President, Lawan, House Speaker Gbajabiamila, Other Lawmakers To Pass Controversial Petroleum Bill - SaharaReporters

Lawan was paid $2 million (N823 million) while Gbajabiamila was paid $1.5 million (N617 million) as bribes.

Quote:Nigeria's Senate President, Ahmad Lawan and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila were paid in dollars (millions of naira) to ensure the passage of the controversial Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) recently signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari, SaharaReporters has learnt.

A top source told SaharaReporters that other federal lawmakers –senators and House of Representatives' members –also received bribes in dollars to ensure the passage of the bill.

"Lawan was paid $2 million (N823 million) while Gbajabiamila was paid $1.5 million (N617 million) as bribes,"
 the source said.

The payment of the monies was said to have been facilitated by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva.

"Each senator was paid $20, 000 (N8.2 million) while members of the lower chamber (House of Representatives) were paid $5, 000 (N2 million) each," the source added.

The Nigerian Senate recently passed the Petroleum Industry Bill approving 3 per cent for host communities despite calls from various quarters that the provisions made for host communities should be reviewed upward.

The upper chamber passed the PIB, 2021 after the clause by clause consideration of the report of its joint committee on Petroleum (Upstream, Downstream and Gas) on PIB.

The Senate had before then, held a closed session with Sylva, and the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Mele Kyari.

Stakeholders had vehemently rejected the provisions of the bill in respect to the percentage ceded to host communities, urging Buhari not to sign the bill into law.

For instance, the Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas, HOST ON, said it was insulting for the Senate and House of Representatives to cede only three and five per cent equity shareholding respectively to the oil and gas producing communities in the Petroleum Industry Bill, passed.

Their president, Benjamin Tamanarebi said the PIB passed by NASS was a fruitless exercise and unacceptable to the host communities.

He was quoted as saying, “Imagine for over 63 years of neglect, deprivation and marginalisation of the aborigines who have suffered untold hardship in the midst of wealth, for the first time after many years of agitation, asking for only 10 per cent equity shareholding and the leadership of NASS is considering five per cent and three per cent viewing it that they have done us a favour.

“This is unacceptable and we reject the offer.

“It is our sole right as the aborigines, it is our land, it is our water ways, Nigeria is claiming it because we are from Nigeria state. Then why denying our rights to benefit, right to have clean environment, right to have potable water to drink, good hospital, electricity, good roads but leaving us in abject poverty, in a desecrated environment without considering the UNFCCC/ CDM criteria.

‘We will still study other areas in the Bill to address it in due course, for example, section 104 (2) on gas flaring where funds on penalty should be paid to the government, we reserve to study all sections, but is a fruitless exercise as usual,” he said.

In the approved bill, the Senate approved a funding mechanism of 30 per cent of NNPC’s profit from oil and gas for frontier basins. This fund is for oil exploration in frontier states.

However, in the report, the states referred to as ‘frontier basins’ were not clearly stated.

This had also generated controversies as it is provision is seen to be in favour of Northern states where oil exploration is being carried out.

In their July 5 meeting, governors of Nigeria’s southern states also rejected the proposed three per cent share to host communities in the Petroleum Industry Bill.

A communique issued by the governors at the end of their meeting in Lagos, said the governors, instead, supported five per cent share to the communities.

“However, the Forum rejects the ownership structure of the proposed Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC).

“The Forum disagrees that the company be vested in the Federal Ministry of Finance but should be held in trust by Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) since all tiers of Government have stakes in that vehicle,” it said.

Also, the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) rejected the three per cent approval for the development of host communities by the Senate.

The national publicity secretary of PANDEF, Ken Robinson, while reacting to the approval, said the government cannot transform the oil industry without transforming the communities in whose backyard the industry is operated.

“The region is the biggest victim of the fraudulent Nigerian Constitution we are using and the lopsided nature of the country. So, what played out is what is playing out in every aspect of the country, particularly under this President," he said.

A former Provost Marshal of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier-General Idada Ikponmwen, said the three-five per cent proposed as a benefit for host communities under the Host Community Trust, despite the abundant oil wells in their land, while 30 per cent is earmarked for exploration of oil in the northern part of the country in the PIB is an open invitation to anarchy.

He said: “The idea of three percent or five percent proposed as a benefit for host communities from oil proceeds while 30 per cent is embarked for exploration of oil in the northern part of the country clearly reveals arrogance, insensibility, disdain on part of the proponents of the PIB.

“Deeply examined, it is an open invitation to anarchy. This move cannot be acceptable to those who have borne the brunt of oil exploration and exploitation of oil and gas in Niger Delta, the President must be enjoined to reject the bill and have same returned to the National Assembly.”

The dismembered body of a 23-year-old law student identified as Nosicelo, has been found in a suitcase in Quigney, East Cape, South Africa.

A black refuse bag found next to the suitcase contained some of the victim's other body parts, while her head was reportedly found in a cupboard in her home on Thursday, August 19.

The horrific discovery was made after a motorist had flagged down police on patrol at about 7am on Thursday, to inform them a body had been found in a suitcase. Soon after police visited the crime scene, the 25-year-old suspect was found and arrested.

Brig Tembinkosi Kinana said police patrolling the area early on Thursday morning were flagged down by a motorist who told them what he had seen.

"On their arrival at the corner of Fleet Street and Fitzpatrick road a suitcase with the body of a 23-year-old female was found. Next to it was a black bag with other body parts. While at the scene, police received information that a 25-year-old suspect believed to be linked to the murder was found and immediately arrested,” Kinana said.

"On further investigation, police discovered a plastic bag with other body parts in a house. She was reportedly studying law at the Fort Hare University in East London,” Kinana added.

According to Kinana, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect and the deceased had been living together for some time.

Provincial police commissioner, Lt-Gen Liziwe Ntshinga condemned the incident, especially as it occurred in Women’s Month.

"This is one of the devastating scenes women do not want to see during this Women’s Month. The incident represents a manifestation of the stubbornness of gender-based violence and femicide incidents which are endemic within our society,” Ntshinga said.

Meanwhile, the suspect identified as Alutha Pasile is expected to appear in court on Friday, August 20. He faces a charge of murder.

Bandits May Soon Register With Corporate Affairs Commission, Nigerian Stock Exchange – Atiku Warns

Quote:Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Thursday said bandits ravaging the country with growing impunity would soon register formally with the Corporate Affairs Commission and the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

Atiku spoke when he chaired the launch of a new book by journalist Chido Onumah in Abuja on Thursday afternoon. ‘Remaking Nigeria: Sixty Years, Sixty Voices,’ was unveiled at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja.

The book collected critical voices from across the country to reflect on the country’s journey since Independence and suggest ways out of the country’s myriad crises.

The book came six years after Onumah wrote ‘We Are All Biafrans’ to demonstrate a metaphor for the mutual disaffection and claims of marginalisation amongst Nigerians of all tribes and ideological persuasions.

Abubakar, who challenged but lost to Mr Buhari at the 2019 presidential polls, said Nigerians should learn from Mr Buhari’s divisive mindset and emulate ideals that promote unity and economic prosperity in order to leave a lasting legacy.

He said, “I find it amusing when people declare Nigeria’s unity as fixed and non-negotiable while doing everything in their power to destroy that fragile unity.

“Nothing in the relationships among peoples is fixed for eternity. You cannot declare your marriage as non-negotiable while doing everything to sow seeds of discord in that same marriage.

“You can whip groups of people into forming a country but you cannot whip them into forming a nation.

“Nations are built through conscious or even unconscious agreement by peoples who believe that being together is, on balance, more beneficial than being apart.”

On the insecurity ravaging the country, Atiku said, “But who would have thought that our country would become a haven for kidnappers and all manner of bandits to the extent that their nefarious activities would become a major industry?

“They have been allowed to operate so openly and brazenly that it would surprise no one if they applied for registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission and listing on the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

“Five years ago, the Abuja – Kaduna Road was not a virtual no-go area. The South-East was not a virtual war-zone, and Amotekun was not needed to protect lives and property in the South-West.”

He also blamed the Northern region and the country for not doing enough to check the encroachment of the Sahara Desert and the drying out of Lake Chad, saying that this was responsible for trajectory of the insurgency in the North-East and the banditry across the Northern states.

World’s Worst Ever Zoo Attacks As Bears, Tigers& Gorillas Attack People(Pix)

Quote:PRIMAL SCREAM: FROM the other side of a zoo cage, most animals look tame and arguably approachable - but rest assured, these are still very much wild creatures with feral instincts.

Just this month a woman was viciously mauled to death by a tiger in a safari park enclosure after not being warned the cage door was open - and a keeper was pulled into an enclosure by an alligator.

For the most part, walking around a zoo is an experience that fills visitors with delight and sparks interest - but on the odd occasion, chaos erupts animals turn deadly when people get just a little too close for comfort. But it's not just tourists who have been targeted, as many animals have lashed out their keepers too.

WHALE TURNED KILLER
In one of the most gruesome cases, whale instructor Dawn Brancheau was hauled underwater and thrashed around during a performance at SeaWorld in Orlando as horrified onlookers watched on.

The 40-year-old was grabbed by her long ponytail by killer whale Tilikum before he swung her in his mouth during the incident.

Staff desperately tried to tame the orca as guests were ushered out, but Dawn had died by the time her body was retrieved.

An autopsy revealed she died of blunt force trauma to the head, neck and torso, with part of her scalp "forcibly torn from the head".

DRAGGED AWAY
While driving through the tiger enclosure at a Beijing zoo, one woman was terrifyingly dragged away before her rescuer was mauled to death.

The woman, named as Ms Zhao, got out of her car at Badaling Wildlife World when a Siberian tiger pounced on her and pulled her into the bushes.

Her mother was mauled to death by a second tiger as she tried to save her.

Ms Zhao was reportedly left disabled from the horrifying incident.

ELEPHANT TURNED ON KEEPER
Zookeeper Lucy Melo was teaching a two-year-old male Asian elephant to wash in public view when he suddenly turned on her.

Melo was left fighting for life after the elephant crushed her against bollards at Sydney's zoo.

Thankfully, her co-workers intervened and she was rushed to hospital.

“I asked for one simple final behaviour. He offered me a slightly different behaviour than the one I had asked,” Ms Melo said in a statement after the attack.

“I asked him again for the correct version. When he did not respond, I sensed a behavioural change in him and realised he was thinking of challenging me.

“Just as I was almost out, he raised his trunk and pinned me against one of the metal bollards.

“His trunk on my chest took my breath away, which made it impossible for me to talk and tell him to stop.”

MAULED TO DEATH
Catalina Torres Ibarra was killed in the big cat enclosure at a safari park in Chile this month after allegedly being sent into clean.

The 21-year-old was mauled to death by a tiger, but reportedly had not been warned the cage door was open.

She was allegedly told perform cleaning duties before the fatal attack in Rancagua, where she suffered horror neck wounds and died "on the spot."

But, according to her colleague Leonardo Maluenda, she was not told the tiger's cage door was open.

HARAMBE INCIDENT
Harambe the gorilla became a global sensation after he was shot dead by a zookeeper at Cincinnati Zoo.

The 17-year-old gorilla grabbed and dragged a three-year-old boy who had climbed into his enclosure.

A zookeeper felt compelled to shoot Harambe - with the whole incident caught on camera.

It sparked debate across the world whether it was the correct decision to shoot Harambe.

POLAR BEAR POUNCE
A visitor at Berlin Zoo was horrifically mauled by a polar bear after she leapt into the enclosure during feeding time.

The 32-year-old was savaged by the beast, who - despite the efforts of six zookeepers trying to to distract the bear - bit her arms and legs repeatedly.

Eventually, staff managed to haul the bear away and pluck the tourist to safety.

She was dashed to hospital and needed surgery on her wounds.

ATTACKED AT FEEDING TIME
A zookeeper was badly mauled by a Siberian tiger in front of shocked visitors at a zoo in Russia.

The big cat pounced on the woman as she brought food to the animal – but she was miraculously saved by onlookers who shouted and threw things at the beast.

Men even lifted a table and chairs from a nearby cafe, hurling them over the fence to distract the 15-year-old male called Taifun, or Typhoon.

Dramatic pictures show the woman on her back on the ground with the tiger on top of her, seemingly going for the kill.

But thanks to the quick-thinking bystanders who distracted the deadly predator, the woman was able to get up and run to safety before being rushed to hospital.

CHEATING DEATH
A man narrowly escaped certain death after almost being ripped apart when he jump into a bear's enclosure.

While visiting the Berne Bear Park in Switzerland in 2009, the man perched on a 20ft wall above the put of four-year-old bear, Finn, before plunging into the enclosure.

The predator quickly grabbed hold of the man, carrying him like a rag doll before sinking his razor sharp teeth into him

Worried park officials had already rung emergency services when they saw the man sitting on the wall - and so police quickly arrived on the scene and fired a bullet at the bear's chest.

The man was quickly stretchered out of the enclosure and was treated in hospital for severe head and leg injuries.

Bode George To Secondus: Stop Disturbing Obasanjo, Elders, With Your Problems
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 08-20-2021, 07:07 AM - No Replies

Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos

Quote:Chief Olabode George, a former Deputy National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday said embattled national chairman of the party, Uche Secondus should stop disturbing elder statesmen in the country by running to them for help all in his bid to perpetuate himself in office.

George was reacting to the closed-door meeting between Secondus and former president Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.

The meeting which sources borders on a solution to the lingering crisis in the party is still ongoing at the moment.
Speaking in an interview with DAILY INDEPENDENT, George said Secondus grossly mismanaged the privileged given to him to manage the affairs of the PDP but he is now running helter-skelter when the party members said they’ve had enough of him.

“Why is he running around now? When you were given the mantle of office and you were supposed to remain just, fair and equitable, did he do that? Let him stop disturbing the old men allow them to rest. Like I have always said, the PDP is not a personal property of anyone”.

Are you going to repair all the damages he created by his inactivity or lack of respect for the grundnorm and the constitution of our party? I don’t hate him but he mismanaged the opportunity given to him to manage the affairs of the party. He went outside the constitution and threw it down the drain”.

“APC also went through their own crisis during the tail-end of Oshiomhole but President Buhari had to take decisive action, otherwise, that party would have gone down today. So, if the members of the PDP are saying we are tired of the methodology of Secondus, so be it!

“I have an example of his complete mismanagement. I think he should have done all these things long before now. Yes, we know the elders are experienced and we shouldn’t ignore their words. But they gave you an opportunity for almost four years and you bungled It”.

“Now, look at crisis everywhere especially in Anambra. Look at all the governors leaving the party. What was he doing? He did nothing because he didn’t care. Now he is now running around to Baba and others”.

“I think Baba and others should just tell him that if the party doesn’t want you, be a party man and rise above this pettiness. There is always a beginning and there must be an end”.

Obaseki Rejects Idriss Addano's Coronation As Sultan of Shuwa Arab of Edo State
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Quote:The Edo State Government has condemned, in strong terms, the planned coronation of Idriss Addano as the ‘Sultan of Shuwa Arab of Edo State’, describing the purported move as sacrilegious and a threat to peace and security in the state.

In a statement issued by the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Osarodion Ogie, Esq., assured citizens that firm and decisive action will be taken to prevent the actualization of the illegal and sacrilegious act.

The statement reads: “The Edo State Government has been inundated with complaints from indigenes and residents of the state over the purported move to embark on the coronation of one Idriss Addano as ‘Sultan of Shuwa Arab of Edo State’.

“The Edo State Government wishes to state as follows: That whether or not this event is held at the said, or any other location within the state, it would constitute a direct assault on the traditions, custom and culture of the people of Edo State, by individuals who clearly have sinister motives and are trying to abuse the well-known Edo hospitality by their act of sacrilege.

“That it is a potential threat to the peace and security of Edo State, with the capacity to cause a breakdown of law and order as citizens of the state are likely to be provoked by the obnoxious ceremony.

“Under the Edo State Traditional Rulers and Chiefs Law, it is an offence for anyone to proclaim himself, or allow himself to be proclaimed as the holder of any traditional title not recognized under the said law and/or without the approval of the appropriate authorities.”

According to Ogie, “The state government hereby wishes to assure all concerned that firm and decisive action will be taken to prevent the actualization of this illegal and sacrilegious act and that all persons found to have been involved in the conception and/or execution would face the full wrath of the law.”
“The Edo State Government, therefore, calls on all citizens to be calm, law-abiding and rest assured that government is firmly on top of the situation,” he assured.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES,

FRIDAY 20TH AUGUST 2021.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC: A PERFECT HEART AND A WILLING MIND

And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts… (1 Chronicles 28:9).

Whatever you do for the Lord, the heart from where it comes, and the attitude with which you carry it out, matters. God searches all hearts, and understands all the thoughts and goings-on of our minds. So, He seeks a perfect heart and a willing mind. He said in 2 Corinthians 8:12, “For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted….”

Remember what the Bible says of Amaziah the king; he did what was right in the sight of God but not with a perfect heart (2 Chronicles 25:2). But how’s your heart going to be right with God? How’s your mind going to be willing? It’s through the Word. A heart that’s perfect and willing is one that’s yielded to the Word; sanctified, renewed and under the sway of the Spirit through the Word.

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 4:6, “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts…. How did He do it? It’s through the Word! His Word illumines our hearts to know His will.

Then it says in Romans 12:2, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”*_ You wouldn’t know God’s mind; His thoughts and opinions, His perfect will concerning anything if you don’t know His Word.

That’s the reason you must study and know the Scriptures for yourself. Jesus said, “...Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures…” (Matthew 22:29). If you want to serve God rightly, then get to know the Word. It’s about the Scriptures getting into your spirit and culturing your mind. Give more attention to studying the Scriptures for the wisdom and insight of the Spirit, by which He gives you guidance on how to serve God truly, with a pure heart, and a willing mind.

CONFESSION

I have a heart that loves the Lord, to serve Him truly, and to please Him always. And by the Word, my attitude to God and to service in His Kingdom is inspired by, and reflects His love. Always, and in all circumstances, the mind of God is revealed to me through the Word, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

1 Samuel 16:7
But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for [the LORD seeth] not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

Proverbs 23:26
My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.

Quote:The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken into custody a former Abia Governor, Sen. Theodore Orji and his son, Chinedu over alleged N48billion security votes.

The two leaders are also expected to account for N2billion Ecological Fund and conversion of Sure-P funds.

While the ex-Governor was intercepted at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja before boarding a flight, his son reported to the EFCC headquarters.

According to a source, the ex-Governor, who has been on the Commission’s watch list, was intercepted at the Nnamdi International Airport, Abuja at about 1000 hours on Thursday and brought to the headquarters of the EFCC at Jabi, Abuja for the continuation of his interrogation.

INEC Publishes Soludo as APGA's 2021 Anambra Governorship Candidate

BREAKING NEWS

APGA ANAMBRA GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION: INEC REMOVES UMEOJI'S NAME, REPLACES IT WITH SOLUDO'S

The drama that started at INEC on July 16, 2021 leading to the erroneous publishing of Chukwuma Umeoji's name in place of that of Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo came to an end today as the commission has done the needful.

In a press release by the commission and signed by the Commissioner, Voter Education and Publicity, Barr. Festus Okoye, the commission said that after its executive Committee meeting it was unanimously resolved that the name of Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo and Dr. Onyekachikwu Gilbert Ibezim be published as the governorship and deputy governorship candidates of APGA respectively.

The commission has already yanked off Chukwuma Umeoji and Irogbu's names from its portal as candidates of APGA.

It could be recalled that Court of Appeal, Kano on Wednesday, August 10, 2021 entered judgment in favour of Ozonkpu Dr. Victor Ike Oye as APGA National Chairman and Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo as its governorship candidate.

With this development APGA will now fire on all cylinders to mobilize the people of Anambra State to win the November 6, 2021 governorship election, which is a sacred duty it owes to the people.
