Two 18-year-old twin sisters have been shot dead by a gang in Brazil.

The sisters, Amália Alves and Amanda Alves, were murdered last Wednesday morning, July 14, in a horrific Instagram livestream, and the video footage has since been viewed thousands of times on social media.

The women’s lifeless bodies were found just hours after they were killed on the side of a road behind a housing complex in Pacajus, Ceará, Brazil.

Both women had children. Amanda Alves left behind a three-year-old daughter, while her sister Amália Alves has a son who is only six months old.

A teen suspect in the case has been arrested. Mateus Abreu, only 17-years-old, is being questioned by the police.

Video footage captured the sisters’ harrowing final moments as they knelt next to each other on the dirty road.

The sisters were forced to gather their hair up in a bun before Abreu allegedly shot them in the back of their skulls.

He is then accused of blasting two more shots at one of the sisters before standing over the other victim and firing another four bullets at her limp body.

Brazilian newspaper Diario do Noreste said in a report the teen suspect had seven prior arrests.

According to local newspaper, Jornal de Brasília, the sisters were killed because they knew "too much" about incidents involving local drug dealers.

A soldier and one assailant have been killed in a gun duel when suspected sea pirates attacked a military Joint Task Force, JTF, checkpoint at Tuomo community in Burutu local government area of Delta state.

A former CDC chairman of Tuomo community, Mr Akpoebiede Defence, who confirmed the incident to Vanguard, said the gunmen came in a speedboat at around 11 pm on Sunday, July 18.

"We believe they are sea pirates who came in a speedboat at around 11 pm, and we believe that they were coming for their guns. They wanted to land at the military checkpoint at the waterfront when one of the men on duty asked to know their identities, and they said they were returning from work," he said.

"The soldier told them not to land at their spot and in the process the gunmen opened fire and shot a soldier dead instantly. A gun battle ensued with the soldiers also killing one assailant on the spot while others sped off with bullet wounds, leaving their dead. As I’m talking to you, the lifeless body of the assailant is still at Tuomo waterfront." he added.

Akpoebiede identified the deceased soldier as Corporal Sunday.

In his reaction, chairman of Burutu council area, Mr Godknows Angele, said: ,”it’s an unfortunate incident and I commend the military men for their alertness and gallantry. We are course working towards bringing a lot gunboats to enable the military do their job better."

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES,

WEDNESDAY 21ST JULY 2021.

 Pastor Chris

TOPIC: SUBMIT TO HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS

And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God (James 2:23).

It’s so important to understand that there’re several broad applications and definitions of righteousness. But righteousness, first and foremost, is the nature of God, His nature of rightness. The nature of God can be described from different perspectives, like we say, “God is love”; so, love is His nature. But when we talk about righteousness, that’s a different nature we’re describing.

Righteousness as God’s nature is His ability to be right and do right only and always. It’s His perfection, accuracy and distinction in glory. Righteousness distinguishes God in glory from everyone else. Now, this righteousness is absolutely unattainable by man or any creature. Therefore, in God’s benevolence, He attributes, bestows or imputes to us a kind of righteousness which is called “Right standing.”

You may have heard what in some countries is called “a certificate of conformity”; it’ll help you understand what righteousness or right standing is. It stipulates that a particular product meets the required standards or specification of the government or authorized agency.

There’s also the “certificate of good standing,” which certifies that a company is properly registered with the state and it’s up to date on all state levies and required documentations, and therefore legally permitted to engage in business activities in the state.

Now, right standing, like the certificate of good conduct or good standing is the ability to stand before God and be accepted. Now we can fellowship with Him, unafraid and unashamed. The most beautiful part is that He didn’t wait for you to have “complied” or “filed” the necessary “documentations” and meet all the required standards first; He declared you righteous because of what Jesus did in your behalf.

Recall we read in our theme verse that _...Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness….”_ God gave Abraham the certificate of right standing for believing. Likewise, righteousness was imparted to you as a result of your faith in Jesus Christ. It’s the gift of God—a gift of grace imparted to all men, which becomes effectual the moment one submits to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

CONFESSION

By grace, I’ve received God’s nature of righteousness and I’ve been translated into the Kingdom of His Love-Son, where I reign and rule with Him. I have dominion over the devil and circumstances, and I live in the righteousness of God, and live as the righteousness of God. Nothing, and no one, can condemn me anymore, because God has justified and acquitted me. Glory to God!

FURTHER STUDY

Romans 3:26-28
To declare, [I say], at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. 27 Where [is] boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Romans 4:5-8
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. 6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, 7 [Saying], Blessed [are] they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. 8 Blessed [is] the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

Luck however ran out of them when they attempted boarding vehicles to Aba, their destination, and were intercepted by men of vigilante service at Umuokpara.

They allegedly packaged the looted items into a Ghana-must-go bag to disguise its content.

When interrogated, they confessed to have thrown their arms into the forest following a hot pursuit by the vigilante officers.

About three suspects were said to have escaped.

Ladoja Calls For Amnesty For Sunday Igboho, Nnamdi Kanu As FG Did For Boko Haram
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Quote:Rashidi Ladoja, former Governor of Oyo State has called on President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to grant Yoruba freedom fighter, Sunday Adeyemo, better known as Sunday Igboho and the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu amnesty as he did for Boko Haram.

Ladoja who made the call on Tuesday while addressing journalists in his Bodija residence in Ibadan said Igboho became what he is in defence of his people who were being attacked by Fulani herdsmen.

Daily Independent had on Monday night reported that Igboho was apprehended in Cotonou, Benin Republic after the DSS declared him wanted.

The Yoruba Nation agitator’s arrest comes few weeks after Nnamdi Kanu was arrested in Kenya and brought back to Nigeria to face his trial on treason.

It could be recalled that both Igboho and Kanu are fighting to break their regions away from Nigeria.

Reacting to the agitators’ arrest, the former governor said, “It is not the arrest that is important to me. It is the Federal Government that created Sunday Igboho.

He said, “Federal government has declared amnesty for Boko Haram, they should also declare amnesty for Igboho and the IPOB leader.

“Just like Kanu, to some people, Sunday Igboho has also become a leader, people are agitating for what they believe in. Yoruba leaders including the Alaafin of Oyo have been complaining about atrocities committed by suspected herdsmen and nothing has been done to it till now.

“Boko Haram members were arrested a year ago by the government and have been released to the Borno State government.

“Sunday Igboho was created in the context of killings in the Ibarapa axis of Oyo State. Nobody has been arrested for it and even if they were arrested, they were later released. That is why people resorted to self-help.”

ATM cameras help FBI capture three young Nigerians who stole over $1.4 million COVID-19 unemployment benefits in the United States

Three Nigerians have been arrested by the FBI over alleged fraud in the United States of America.

Security cameras attached to Automated Teller Machines (ATM) in the United States of America helped captured the Nigerian youths who allegedly l;kofraudulently obtained more than $1.4 million (about N580 million) jobless benefits from the states of Arizona, California, North Carolina, and Maryland.

The suspects, identified in court filings as Quazeem Owolabi Adeyinka, 20, Ayodeji Jonathan Sangode, 22, and Olamide Yusuf Bakare, were nabbed last week, with U.S. authorities saying they stole over $2.6 million in bogus unemployment insurance claims.

The suspected Internet crooks used an address in Hyattsville, Maryland, to rake in about $1.4 million in unemployment benefits from California, Arizona, Maryland and North Carolina. At least $1.2 million of the theft was received from California’s Employment Development Department alone.

The trio filed about 200 unemployment claims with California’s EDD using a single address on 75th Avenue in Hyattsville, and the department was deceived into approving 97 of the claims, according to a complaint filed by John C. Collins, a special agent with the U.S. Department of Labor.

Mr Collins said the ring was jointly investigated by the FBI, Department of Labor’s Office of Inspector General and state law enforcement authorities.

"Based on the size of the apartment, the investigation has concluded that a high number of UI applications associated with this address is unreasonable, and thus an indicator of fraudulent activity. “(Bank of America) records show that 142 UI claim profiles using the 75th Avenue apartment address issued a total of 175 prepaid cards from the states of Arizona, California, Maryland, and North Carolina," Mr Collins said in the complaint filed in California.

There were several attempts to claim bogus unemployment insurance using the same address from Hawaii, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Texas, Washington and West Virginia, court records say.

The suspects filed claims that they had lost jobs as an accountant, dance therapist, computer consultant, librarian or other occupations, and used untraceable IP addresses, the complaint said.

The funds the young men fraudulently obtained were depleted through purchases, transfers, and ATM cash withdrawals conducted in California, Florida, and Maryland, according to prosecutors. ATM withdrawals alone amounted to over $989,000.

Bank of America (BofA) records show that, on or about July 19, 2020, an individual appearing to be Adeyinka based on a comparison with his driver’s license photo, withdrew $1,000 cash using BofA-EDD debit card ending in 2312 in the name of K.K. at the Landover Hills Bank of America ATM located at 7515 Annapolis Road, Hyattsville, Maryland.

More BofA records show that, on or around July 5, 2020, an individual appearing to be Bakare based on his driver’s license photo withdrew cash using the 7990 BofA-EDD debit card at a BofA ATM located at 10200 Lake Arbor Way, Mitchellville, Maryland.

Also, footage from Bank of America shows that Sangode’s Hyundai (MD license plate 3DS7400) was surveilled at a BofA drive-through ATM located at 3413 Kenilworth Ave, Hyattsville, Maryland. The driver of the vehicle resembles Sangode based on a comparison using his MD driver’s license photo, the indictment says.

There were other such withdrawals at different dates in which all three individuals were identified.

Federal authorities said they observed that international scammers and con artists were taking advantage of the high volume of COVID-19 cheques being sent out to cushion the effect of the pandemic amongst Americans.

Angie Barnett, president of the Better Business Bureau of Greater Maryland, said some sources estimate this type of fraud has gone up 3,000% since the coronavirus pandemic, and catching and prosecuting these criminals is tough.

"The bad people are capitalizing on the grief and the fragility of our society. We're emotional, we're fragile and our financial care and concern, and scammers take advantage of that," Barnett said.

NCDC confirms 15 cases of monkeypox in Nigeria

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has registered 59 suspected cases of Monkeypox in Nigeria.

NCDC Director-General, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, on Tuesday said it has also confirmed 15 cases of the disease.
Ihekweazu was reacting to the Dallas, Texas resident who recently returned from Nigeria and tested positive for the disease.

Laboratory tests confirmed that the patient was infected with a strain of the virus mainly seen in West Africa, which included Nigeria.

However, Ihekweazu told NAN that just as the agency responded to other epidemic-prone diseases in the country, an outbreak would be declared when there was a large cluster of monkeypox cases that constituted an emergency.

“The Federal Government was notified of the situation in Texas, through the International Health Regulations (IHR), who reported a case of monkeypox disease diagnosed in a patient who had recently visited Nigeria.

“Since the re-emergence of monkeypox in the country in September 2017, the agency has continued to receive reports and responses to sporadic cases of the disease from states across the country.

“We have been working closely with state health ministries to strengthen monkeypox disease surveillance and response in the country.

“We work with Enhanced Monkeypox Surveillance Project where we have been training health workers across states to rapidly detect and manage cases.

“Our initial focus is on the states with the highest number of cases – Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers and Lagos.

“We will continue working with all states to strengthen monkeypox prevention, detection and control in Nigeria,” he explained.

He urged Nigerians to continue adhering to precautions that protect them from monkeypox and other infectious diseases.

“If you feel ill or have a sudden rash, please visit a hospital for diagnosis and management,” he advised.

Monkeypox, which is in the same family of viruses as smallpox, is a rare but potentially deadly viral infection that begins with flu-like symptoms and progresses to a rash on the face and body.

It tends to last two to four weeks. People who do not have symptoms are not capable of transmitting the virus.
Monkeypox infections of that strain are fatal in about one in 100 people, affecting those with weakened immune systems more strongly.

Leave Naira abusers at Cubana's mum's funeral and expose terrorism financiers - HURIWA tells CBN

Civic advocacy group, Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, has asked the CBN to leave persons accused of abusing the Naira at the funeral of socialite Obi Cubana's mum alone and expose people financing terrorism across the nation.

In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, HURIWA said the spraying of naira at Obi Cubana’s event should not constitute a major talking point adding that there have been countless high societal functions where the naira was also abused.

Quote:“The fact that friends and well-wishers who attended the event decided to show appreciation to Mr Obi Cubana, we in the Human Rights Writers Association Of Nigeria, think it should not become the talking point.

The Central Bank of Nigeria under the current dispensation should rather be tasked by the media to confront the much more disturbing issue of how terrorism is funded and how armed kidnappers made up of Fulani militia in the North carry out their terrorism-related activities.” the statement in part reads

Oil plunges to $68, Nigeria seeks increased production quota

The international oil benchmark, Brent crude, tumbled below the $70 per barrel mark on Monday after the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies agreed to increase their production by 400,000 barrels per day starting from August.

Brent, against which Nigeria’s crude oil is priced, fell by $5.01 to $68.58 per barrel as of 7:25pm Nigerian time on Monday, the lowest level since May 21.

After two and a half weeks of wrangling, OPEC and its allies, a group called OPEC+, resolved on Sunday to increase their overall production by 400,000bpd on a monthly basis starting from August until phasing out the 5.8 million bpd production adjustment.

The alliance also granted five countries – Saudi Arabia, Russia, the UAE, Iraq and Kuwait – even higher output targets starting in May 2022, according to S&P Global Platts.

The OPEC+ resolution puts an end to an acrimonious spat between Saudi Arabia and the UAE, which had arisen after the UAE had objected to Saudi Arabia’s plan to tie OPEC+ production increases to a lengthening of the supply management pact.

The UAE had insisted that its baseline production level, from which its quota is determined, be raised first.

In an appeasement to the UAE, the country will receive a 332,000 bpd boost to its reference production level, from which quotas are determined, starting in May 2022. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia and Russia will also be granted 500,000 bpd baseline increases, with Iraq and Kuwait getting 150,000 bpd rises.

S&P Global Platts described the agreement as a near-term win for the group but also one that looked set to exacerbate the divide between its richer and poorer members.

It said by late 2022, when the alliance expects to have fully unwound its 5.8 million bpd in collective production cuts, those five countries would have expanded their output considerably, while most, if not all, of the remaining members would struggle to keep pace, ceding market share in the process.

According to the report, the Saudi and UAE energy ministers were all smiles following the decision.

Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, voiced his displeasure in the OPEC+ meeting, as did Algeria’s Mohamed Arkab, multiple delegates said.

Both countries are now appealing to the OPEC+ co-chairs, Saudi Arabia and Russia, for increased production allocations, as well, while Kazakhstan may also consider doing the same, the delegates said.

OPEC members Iran and Venezuela, both exempt from quotas as they grapple with US sanctions, could find it more difficult to win back customers in the face of heightened competition if the sanctions are ever relieved.

Sunday Igboho’s arrest: Fears of protest, violence hit South-West

The arrest of Sunday Adeyemo, a.k.a. Sunday Igboho has raised tension in the South-West region of Nigeria.

Igboho was reportedly nabbed Monday night in Cotonou, Benin Republic, at an airport.

A security alert seen by DAILY POST Tuesday morning cautioned residents to avoid volatile areas.
They were advised to be “security conscious and maintained situational awareness”.

The arrest of Igboho was part of federal government’s onslaught against agitators.

The presidency and the Department of State Services (DSS), at different times, hinted that the secessionist would be apprehended.

After the raid of his Soka residence in Ibadan, presidential aide, Garba Shehu, declared Igboho was “conducting acts of terror and disturbing the peace”.

The image maker accused the Yoruba Nation proponent of attempting to build an armoury and planning to either undermine the unity of the nation.
Earlier, at a press conference where weapons found in Igboho’s house were displayed, the DSS vowed that the vocal separatist would be caged.

Peter Afunanya, the spokesman, said Igboho may run and hide as long as he wants, “the end of his shenanigans” was certain.

“Soon, he will not have a hiding place. His strength will sure fail him, the law will catch up with him. The law may be slow. But it will be steady”, he added.

"Most wanted" suspect arrested after asking about reward money on police department's Facebook post

A woman who was on the run for her alleged role in a murder case has been arrested after commenting on the police department’s Facebook post asking about reward money for her arrest.

Last Wednesday, the police department posted about Lorraine Graves, who is charged with being an accessory to a murder in March. The department was looking for information on Graves, who was suspected to be involved in the murder of Eric Graves.

Eric Graves was shot and killed at an apartment complex and two men had already been charged with his murder and arrested, the department said in their post.

However, the department was still looking for Lorraine Graves – and she ended up showing herself to them when she commented on the post. "Where's the reward money at?" Graves, who was declared most wanted wrote.

The police department took a screenshot of Graves' comment, which received 37 replies and was ultimately deleted.

Detectives with the fugitive warrants unit arrested Graves in north Tulsa over the weekend.  Her bond is set at $500,000.

In another post, the department shared photos of Graves during her arrest, smiling. "This is an arrest, not a conviction," the department said in the post.

Brazil's Most Violent Gang Escapes Prison By Digging A Tunnel, Seen On CCTV

Quote:CCTV shows how nine prisoners managed to escape from a prison in Brazil by digging their way out in a Shawshank Redemption style heist.

The nine men, believed to belong to a violent drug-smuggling gang, made the move in the early hours of Sunday (July 18) according to news site g1.globo.com.

A hole was dug in the cell where the prisoners were being held in Capina da Lago a, in western Paraná.

They snuck out to the courtyard of the police station and then climbed over the wall, as shown in the CCTV.

Before they jump they throw belongings over the wall and then run for it, sometimes dropping the items in the rush.

One of the fugitives, Robson Bueno, was quickly apprehended when he fled to his ex-partner's house but the other escapees were reported to still be on the run.

The prisoners are said to be behind several violent crimes such as robbery, murder, and drug trafficking.

It is claimed they are members of the notorious Primeiro Comando da Capital (First Command of the Capital) which has more than 13,000 members.

The escapees were named in Brazilian media as: Jose Mateus Xavier, Rahmen Cassin, Lourival Masiero, Francisco Vaz do Nascimento Neto, Savio Junior Borges, Edson dos Santos da Rosa, Carlos Henrique Ferreira de Oliveira, Givanildo Luiz Paulo de Brito, Robson Bueno Ricardo.

Primeiro Comando da Capital gangsters were previously filmed using rocket launchers in a terrifying robbery that killed a policeman.

They reportedly blasted into the vaults of security firm Prosegur with C-4 plastic explosive to rob the equivalent of £31 million.

Another gruesome video from a jail in Brazil shows bloodthirsty prisoners behead rival inmates then play football with their heads after a riot was triggered.

There were 57 deaths and a fire, with 16 inmates beheaded and others dying from smoke inhalation.

Petrol price’ll rise to N1,000 per litre if… —DPR

20 July 2021

The Department of Petroleum Resources says the pump price of petrol in Nigeria may rise up to as much as N1000 per litre when the petrol subsidy regime comes to an end without an alternative energy source.
DPR Director, Sarki Auwalu, stated this while responding to questions and comments generated by a paper he delivered in Lagos, recently, at the Second Quarter, 2021 Business Dinner of Petroleum Club Lagos.

Responding to the subsidy concerns and the disparity in the petrol consumption figures given by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and the DPR, Auwalu acknowledged that Nigeria was spending so much on petrol subsidy.
He said eliminating it would require making alternative fuel available to Nigerians and that failure to do that could plunge Nigerians into paying higher petrol prices when subsidy is removed.

According to a statement on the DPR website on Monday titled, ‘DPR: Without Alternative Energy, Petrol Price Will Rise On Subsidy Removal’, Auwalu stated that Nigerians may pay as high as N1, 000 to buy one litre of petrol in the country when subsidy on petrol is removed and when the alternative energy or autogas gas policy becomes fully operational.

He, however, said the alternative fuel regime comes with initial cost as it will lead to spending $400 to convert one vehicles from running on petrol or diesel to running on either Liquefied Natural Gas or Compressed Natural Gas.

[*]Auwalu maintained that converting eight million public vehicles currently present in Nigeria to gas-powered will cumulatively cost $3.2 billion to achieve.

He said, “So, to eliminate subsidy, they don’t call it subsidy anymore now, it’s under-recovery of purchase. So, to eliminate under-recovery, what you need is alternative fuel. Without an alternative, you will subject people to higher prices and that is why we go for price freedom.

[*]

“As at today, there are 22 million cars in Nigeria. Eight million are for public use. Imagine if you want to convert every car into gas, the average cost of conversion is $400. Converting eight million cars requires $3.2 billion. To do that, there are a lot of environmental investors which can invest and recover from the sale of gas and we are encouraging that.

[*]

“Once that is achieved, you will see that PMS can be sold at N1,000. After all, the average distance covered by one-gallon equivalent when you compare it with LNG or CNG with respect to energy for mobility is 2.7 against one. One for PMS, 2.7 for LNG or CNG.

[*]
”So, with that advantage, you will see that it creates an opportunity for this industry again. The issue of subsidy, the volume will all vanish and that is what we are working towards.”

Sunday Igboho surrendered himself, can’t be arrested – Lawyer

 July 20, 202

Pelumi Olajengbesi, lawyer of Oduduwa Republic agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, has disclosed how his client was arrested.

Olajengbesi disclosed that Igboho was not arrested; he surrendered himself to security agents.

The lawyer said the freedom fighter surrendered himself because he believes in justice for his people.
“Truly he was arrested and I have confirmed that. We are making efforts to ensure that he is fine. You know the Department of State Services declared him wanted.

“As a matter of fact, let me tell you now. That Sunday Igboho was arrested simply because he wanted to make himself available to the government. If not, Sunday Igboho is not someone who can be arrested that way.

But because he believes that the journey to justice for the Yoruba people and for the Nigerian state to be able to live in peace may be needed for him to be available, that was why,” he told newsmen on Tuesday.

Igboho was arrested by security operatives in an airport in Cotonou, Benin Republic, while trying to flee to Germany.

Efforts are said to be ongoing towards repatriating him to Nigeria.

The Department of State Services, DSS, had recently declared Igboho wanted, after his residence in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, was invaded.

Some of his aides were killed while others were arrested. The secret police also claimed to have recovered guns and charms from Igboho’s residence.
However, the freedom fighter had debunked DSS claims on weapons.

He maintained that he protected himself with traditional powers and not with weapons.

HURIWA calls for punishment of NAF Spokesman, gives reasons for military plane crashes

on
 July 20, 2021

Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, has called for the punishment of the Nigerian Air Force Spokesman for trying to deceive Nigerians by initially denying that a military aircraft crashed at the weekend.

DAILY POST had authoritatively reported that a NAF Alpha jet that flew out of base for an assault on Sunday crashed in Kaduna State.
The fighter plane routinely conducts air raids on the Kaduna-Katsina-Zamfara corridor and crashed in Kaduna during one of such operations but there was no casualty.

However, NAF debunked the report through the Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, saying there was “No crash in Kaduna.”

He said he was still making contacts from other locations, insisting that no NAF plane left Yola, Adamawa State for Kaduna on Sunday.

“No crash in Kaduna. No aircraft left Yola for Kaduna. I am making contact and awaiting information from other locations,” he said.
It later admitted the crash the following day.

And speaking in an exclusive interview with DAILY POST, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, National Coordinator of HURIWA, said the “Spokesman of the Nigerian Air Force decided not to tell Nigerians the truth. DAILY POST reported that there was a plane crash and the Air Force spokesman told another newspaper that it was not true.

“And in that same story where he was trying to deny the plane crash, he also said he was awaiting further instructions.

“So why did he go ahead to deny there was a plane crash if he was not even completely abreast with what happened. So what we’re saying is this, this is how impunity has destroyed Nigeria.

“If a government official is supposed to carry out a mandate and he refuses or fails to do that if he is guilty of dereliction of duty, there is punishment for that .

“There are punishments for dishonesty, for lying to the public. This man yesterday said there was no plane crash and today he said there was a plane crash and there’s no accountability.”

Speaking further, the human rights activist provided his opinion on why military aircrafts have continued to crash in the country, blaming the government for deliberately refusing to investigate

According to him, “The reason for these plane crashes is because of deliberate efforts on the part of the government not to investigate the causes of the crashes. There’s deliberate effort to hide the truth .

“And why is the government afraid of the truth? The truth must prevail. The Spokesman of the Air Force that wanted to deceive Nigerians by denying there was a plane crash should be moved away from that beat because he has failed.

“Unless he did what his boss told him to do, and if it was his boss that made him try to deceive Nigerians, it means he doesn’t have respect for Nigerians and he should apologise.”

2 Children Survived Fire Explosion That Killed Bride-To-Be, 8 Kids In Ebonyi

Quote:How 2 Children Survived Fire Explosion That Killed Bride-To-Be, 8 Kids In Ebonyi (Disturbing Photos)

Two children, Princess and James survived a fire explosion which killed a bride-to-be and eight other children, IgbereTV reports.

IgbereTV learnt that the fire incident which occurred around 8:a.m on Friday, January 1, 2021, at Akaeze in Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, was caused when a canon loaded with gun powder and left in the house had contact with fire.

According to reports, a lady whose wedding was coming up in few days died in the explosion. Also, one of the victims who was three years old died on the spot during the rescue operation.

The parents of the children, Mr and Mrs Daniel Chukwu thanked God during a Thanksgiving Service held for the survival of their children at the Assemlies of God Gishiri, Abuja on Sunday, July 18 2021.

Mr. Chukwu told the congregation that he never expected what God did for him, neither did he know how best to appreciate God for the miracle of the survival of his children.

"Undoubtedly, this thanksgiving and praise to God will last as long as myself, my wife and my children live on Planet Earth. Expectedly, our children were left with lifetime evidence of the experience on their bodies, but neither me, their mother nor our close family members were bothered. We are just grateful to God for the gift of life," he said.

"The survival of James, nine, and Princess, 12, from the fire explosion was a marvel to medical doctors and other health workers that attended to the case at different hospitals in Ebonyi and Enugu states, where the children spent months under the close monitoring of the health workers"

He further narrated;

"On the 1st of January 2021, at about 10:00am in my compound, at Akaeze in Ivo L.G.A of Ebonyi State, a group of people came in the name of New Year Celebration and started blowing gun powder (locally fabricated material that can destroy things and human being in particular).

''Surprisingly, the carton of the gun powder was packed in the parlour close to the area it was blown. Don't know if i should call it carelessness, the sparked element traced down to the parlour where about ten (10) children (both mine and neighbours) were watching the television and set them all on fire. Before immediate help could come to them, they were all turned to black because of the magnitude of the injury sustained.

''They were all rushed to Abakaliki Hospital for medical attention. They spent six months in the hospital. Out of 10 children from different womb 8 died, the two that survived are my only children.

The degree of the burn was over 40% to most of them, and they started dying one after the other except my two (2) children (James and Princess). It was a heavy tragedy of the century, which no one can easily forget in a hurry.

At Abakaliki hospital, one of the doctors approached me privately telling me to make sure I don't keep my children for long in the Hospital because the Holy Spirit ministered to Him to inform me to take them away else they will die under 48 hours.

To cut the long story short, within 2hours we were already at Orthopaedic Hospital, Enugu where the doctors and nurses rallied round on my children’s body to see how they can revive the situation.

I am here to testify to the Glory of God that my children are now medically satisfied and okay, they are back to Abuja to continue their education.

I thank all the people that contributed through Prayers, financial assistance and moral support. All Glory to our Father in Heaven, He alone can do what no man can do. He is awesome and Wonderful. To Him be all the Praise now and forever more in Jesus name Amen.

Quote:Eight years after it recorded a legal victory, the family of the late Efunroye Tinubu has taken possession of a parcel of land with over 50 houses at Akobi Crescent, off Fashoro Lane in Surulere area of Lagos.

The judgment of the court was successfully executed last week as the family took possession of the land measuring 8.994 acres without resistance from adverse parties.

A retired colonel, Tunde Oyedele had challenged the Tinubu’s family in court in suit number M/294/2010 wherein he asked the court to declare him sole administrator of the land.

But in a judgment delivered in 2013, the court dismissed his claim and found in favour of the Tinubu’s family.

Oyedele did not file any appeal against the judgment within the stipulated time required by law.

This development paved the way for the family to take possession of the land and the over 50 houses erected on it.

In support of his case Oyedele, had in his evidence told the court through two depositions dated 23/06/11 and 11/07/11 marked as Exhibits 1 and 2 respectively, that he was the owner of the vast area of land measuring 8.994 acres lying at Akobi Crescent, Off Fashoro Lane, Surulere in the Surulere Local Government Area of Lagos State which is covered by a Deed of Conveyance dated 03/02/1976 and registered as NO: 98 at page 98 in Volume 2263 at the Lands Registry Lagos

He claimed that he purchased the land from the late lyalode Tinubu Family through one man he named as Garuba Bakare of Agbole Tinubu, Ojokodo, Abeokuta whom he said acted for and on behalf of the vendor family, adding that it was part of the land which originally belonged to late lyalode Tinubu from time immemorial under the Yoruba native law and custom.

He averred that late Efunroye Tinubu enjoyed undisputed possession of the land and exercised undisputed ownership on it, adding that at all times material to the death of his vendor, and thereafter, Garuba Bakare was the head of the Tinubu family.

He said that upon the demise of Iyalode Tinubu, the appointment of Garuba Bakare as the Head of the Tinubu Family was affirmed by the Supreme Court in Suit NO: M/35/1955 and he was appointed as the sole administrator of the Estate of the late Iyalode Tinubu until new trustees were appointed.

He claimed further that the Supreme Court judgement was subsequently re-affirmed by an order of the High Court of Lagos made on 03/08/1965 in Suit NO: M/3/1965 wherein Garuba Bakare was appointed the Head of the Tinubu Family and seven other persons were made trustees over the estate.

However in his ruling, Justice Atinuke Ipaye of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja, dismissed the claimant’s arguments, holding that, “I am satisfied that the counter-claimants have established their clear and exclusive possession of the subject property as shown on Exhibits 21(a) (g), 29, and 30.

“Under cross-examination, since Colonel Tunde Oyedele allegedly purchased the subject matter in 1967, he did not erect any dwelling house or other structure on it, he also admitted that he has never alienated, sold or leased any portion of it to third parties. That no street on the large expanse of land has been named after him. Equally, he was unable to state how much he alleged spent in his construction of the perimeter fence he allegedly constructed round the almost 9 acres of the land.

“He was unable to bring forward the builder of the said fence or show receipts of evidencing purchase of building materials for such an extensive construction. Equally, he was unable to mention the name and or whereabouts of the persons he allegedly placed on the land to weed same.

“All this tend to show that at no material time was the defendant to counterclaim ever in possession of the said subject property and I so hold. I believe the testimony of DW1 and DW 2, which I find credible that they are members of the Tinubu Family and have remained in possession of same from time immemorial.

“The court hereby declare the sale of 8.998 acres of land by Garuba Bakare to the claimant, (Colonel Tunde Oyedele) as evidence by the Deed of Conveyance dated 3rd of February 1976 as invalid null and void. Also the deed of conveyance dated 03/02/76 registered as NO: 98 at page 98 in volume 2263 is hereby been revoked.

“Lastly the court hereby award the sum of one hundred thousand Naira to the defendant as general damages for the claimant’s unlawful invasion and trespass to the defendant land in Idi Oro, Surulere, Lagos.”

Quote:NEWSCAN fecilitates with Muslims at Eid-el-kabirPublished on July 19, 2021By Amos Tauna

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has fecilitated with the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and the Muslim faithful as they mark this year Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

CAN enjoined the Muslim faithful to pray for the country to be able to overcome its security challenges, and for Nigerians to embrace the virtues of love, peace, unity, kindness and sacrifice, as exemplified by the prophet of Islam in this season of Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

In a statement entitled, ‘Eid-el-Kabir: CAN Felicitates With Nigerian Muslim Ummah,’ signed by Daramola Bade Joseph, General Secretary of CAN said the Christian faithful in the country felicitate with them for being alive to witness this day and celebrate despite the menace of insecurity challenges in the country occasioned by the criminal activities of bandits, kidnappers, terrorists, killer herdsmen and other undesirable elements.

The statement called on the leaders and the entire Muslims to use the occasion to pray for Nigeria to come out of these insecurity challenges better and greater.

Eid-el-Kabir: Pray for Nigeria to overcome insecurity – Ortom urges Nigerians

CAN, therefore, appealed to all security agencies, especially the Police and the Army to rise up to the challenges with a view to preventing the unscrupulous criminals from attacking the innocent during and after the celebrations.

According to CAN, “Our governments at all levels should also be more mindful of the plights of the people whose lives and property have been under incessant attacks and threats as is the case in Kaduna State. It is becoming worrisome and of great concern to all and sundry.”

For the avoidance of doubt, the statement explained that the primary responsibility of any government is to protect lives and property under its care, lamenting that many families are mourning and gnashing teeth during this occasion is an understatement.

CAN noted that Nigerians as a whole, Kaduna and some other states in particular are no longer sleeping with their two eyes closed because of the unending destruction of lives and property, asking that may God intervene in the situations of the country as soon as possible.

The statement pleaded for uncompromising efforts and support of our law enforcement officers and appealed to the Federal Government to provide a peaceful and conducive atmosphere for the celebrations of this great festival

Quote:EXCLUSIVE: Yoruba Freedom Fighter, Sunday Igboho Arrested in Cotonou

Igboho was arrested Monday night after fleeing Nigeria to evade arrest by Nigeria's secret police.

BY SAHARAREPORTERS, NEW YORK.
JUL 19, 2021

Yoruba freedom fighter, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has been arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic by security operatives in the West African country.

Igboho was arrested Monday night after fleeing Nigeria to evade arrest by Nigeria's secret police.

A source privy to his departure from Nigeria said he had perfected plans to secretly escape from Nigeria through Cotonou and was heading to Germany.

He was, however, nabbed by security operatives in the neighboring country.

Speaking with SaharaReporters, a source privy to the incident, said, "Sunday Igboho has been arrested in Cotonou. He was arrested about an hour ago.

"He was supposed to travel to Germany through Cotonou this night. He wanted to leave Africa through Cotonou. He was arrested by security operatives in Cotonou.

"They are planning to bring him back to Nigeria."

Recall that the Department of State Services had declared Igboho wanted after its operatives carried out a bloody midnight raid on his residence in the Soka area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

DSS Public Relations Officer, Peter Afunnaya, had advised Igboho to turn himself in to the nearest security.

“Those cheering and eulogizing him may appeal to or advice him to do the needful,” Afunnaya said. “He should surrender himself to the appropriate authorities. He or anyone can never be above the law."

Pelumi Olajengbesi, one of the lawyers representing Igboho and others arrested in his House, told SaharaReporters he had not confirmed the news of Igboho's arrest in Cotonou.

"I will contact Yomi Aliu (SAN) to verify the news," he said.

Unity in diversity is the major motivation of the show.

Quick Reminder Of Big Brother Naija's Rules And Regulations:

Yoruba Nation Rally: Autopsy Faults Police Claim, Says Jumoke Oyeleke Was Shot
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Quote:• Lawyer asks police to produce bullet, killer cop

Jumoke Oyeleke, the salesgirl who was allegedly killed by a stray bullet during the Yoruba Nation rally in Lagos on July 3, died from a missile injury.

This was revealed by the report of an autopsy conducted on the remains of the 25-year-old on Monday.

The report contradicted the claim by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, that Jumoke was abandoned after she was stabbed.

The autopsy report, which was obtained by PUNCH Metro, was signed by one Dr S.S. Soyomi of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja.

It attributed her death to “haemopericardium, disruption of the heart and lungs and missile injury to the chest.”

Agitators for the Yoruba Nation gathered at the Gani Fawehinmi Park at Ojota amid the presence of armed policemen and soldiers on July 3, 2021.

Jumoke, who displayed soft drinks at her boss’ shop in a compound close to the rally ground, was killed when security men chased agitators into the premises.

Her family and witnesses said she was hit when the police opened fire on the protesters.

Reacting to the autopsy report, a lawyer with the Femi Falana Chambers, Taiwo Olawale, urged the police to identify the officer that shot the victim.

He also urged the State Government to compensate the family.

Olawale said, “The autopsy result implied that she was shot; the third cause of her death was a missile, which means bullet. If you look at the protest that day, nobody shot except the security agencies, so the police should find out whoever shot that lady; whoever did that must face the punishment. The person must be brought out and recommended for prosecution.

“During the autopsy, the bullet was not found in her body and the police had been the one in possession of her corpse since the day of the incident. So, we want them to also produce the bullet so we can ascertain whose bullet it is. They should tell us where the bullet is.

“We also want the government to compensate the family; the deceased was the first child of the family and the breadwinner, and it was the work she was using to feed her mum and three siblings she left behind, so we want the government to compensate the family.”

Eight persons traveling via a passenger boat have been kidnapped along the Kula-Abonrma waterway in Rivers State.

Confirming their abduction, the Rivers Chairman, Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) Jonah Jumbo said the victims were abducted this morning July 19, by suspected pirates. According to Jumbo, out of the eight kidnapped persons, five were members of the maritime union in Kula, Akuku-Toru Local Government Area headed to Port Harcourt for a meeting.

Quote:“The Kula unit and Abomema unit (of martime workers union) were asked to come for a meeting in the state office here in Port Harcourt, this morning (Monday).
On their way from Kula, we got a complaint (report) that the officials who were coning for the meeting were kidnapped.
All the passengers were kidnapped, including three others in the boat. Up till now, nobody has heard anything from the kidnappers.
So, we are appealing to the general public, the government and security agencies to really help us and see how they can reach the kidnappers,” he said

The state police command is yet to react to this development.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES,

TUESDAY 20TH JULY 2021.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC: PUT YOUR BODY IN SUBJECTION

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness (2 Peter 1:5-6).

Temperance is from the Greek word “egkrateia” and it means self-control, the ability and will to control your impulses, to delay immediate gratification for a long-term gain. That simply means the ability to wait or hold on, saying “no” or “not now” to your impulses.

This was the virtue Moses displayed after he had been raised as a prince in Pharaoh’s house. The Bible says, “...when he grew up, refused to be treated as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose to share the oppression of God’s people instead of enjoying the fleeting pleasures of sin” (Hebrews 11:24-25 NLT). “What if I don’t have temperance?” someone may ask.

As long as you’re born again, you have the virtue of temperance. The Bible says it’s the fruit of the recreated human spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). The man who desires to operate effectively with this virtue must learn to control his senses. And that can be achieved by training your body.

You have to discipline your body; break it the way you break a horse until it does what you say, not you doing what it says. If your body can’t be subject to you, then it means you’re a slave to your body. And you can’t do anything serious for the Lord if you’re body-ruled.

In 1 Corinthians 9:27, Paul said, “...I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection....” For instance, you can decide you’ll not sleep whenever you’re in church, or whenever you’re studying the Bible or listening to God’s Word; that’s temperance.
Also, when you fast; don’t find yourself going for food barely an hour into the fast. Part of the essence of a fast is to deny yourself the natural cravings in order to put your body in subjection to your spirit. You have the ability and will to control your impulses, to subdue your body and tell it what to do, and it’ll comply.

CONFESSION

I’m a soldier in God’s army, and I’ve crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Therefore, I keep my body under, and bring it into subjection. I have the ability and will to control my impulses, to delay immediate gratification for a long-term gain, to the glory of God. I tell my body what to do, and it complies! Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY:

Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

1 Corinthians 9:24-27
Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

I am in God’s place for my life and the Spirit of God has granted me understanding and insight into His will, purpose, and plans as I study the Word. My heart is flooded with wisdom and spiritual understanding; I live a life of peace and unlimited prosperity in Christ Jesus.

I am over and above all circumstances of life. I am greatly favoured! God’s favour surrounds me like a shield.

It opens doors for me, bringing me into my place of greatness. I walk with confidence today and always, knowing that with favour working in me, nothing is too good for me! I am a victor in this life.

All things are possible unto me because the ability of God is at work in me. I refuse to recognize limitations, or hindrances to my journey of success, victory, and prosperity.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES,

MONDAY 19TH JULY 2021.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC: PUT THE KINGDOM FIRST

But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state. For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state. For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s (Philippians 2:19-21).

When I came across the scripture above many years ago, it caught my attention. Paul was deeply concerned about the church in Philippi, and desired to minister to them. But he couldn’t personally visit them, because he was in prison.

Then he said to them, “Timothy is the one that I can send to you, because the others seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s. How enlightening!

There’re many like that in the Church today; they seek their own and live unto themselves; they’re selfish. Yet, the Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:15, “...that he (Christ) died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.”

Selfish people can’t walk in truth, and can’t truly walk in love. Selfishness is contrary to the Word of God. When you have a dream for something you want to do, even if it’s something you want to do for God, it’s important you ask yourself what your real motivation is. You may find yourself struggling between the love of God and the love of yourself, struggling between serving Jesus and serving your interests.

That’s what Paul was referring to; He could only pick Timothy, of the several people he had with him, to send to the Philippian church. Paul was convinced Timothy would do the work from a pure heart; he’d do it selflessly, in love. Paul was writing, not just for that day but also for us to learn.

In Matthew 6:33, Jesus communicated a similar thought when He said, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” He didn’t say the first of the things you should seek is the Kingdom of God and after that you can seek other things. No; He said be Kingdom-conscious; pursue Kingdom expansion and the establishment of God’s righteousness; put that first, and you’ll never need to struggle for anything in life.

Trust God with your life; serve Him with a pure heart, and watch Him take you from glory to glory.

PRAYER

Dear Lord, thank you for your words of counsel and admonition. I live every day purposefully, serving you with my life, for your glory. Above everything else, I put the expansion of the Kingdom first, serving you in love, with a perfect heart and a willing mind, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

2 Chronicles 25:1-2
Amaziah was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem. And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, but not with a perfect heart.

Matthew 6:31-33
Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seekSmile for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Bishop David Oyedepo, President and founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, has described President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration as evil filled with wilderness.

The world’s second richest pastor made the remark on Sunday during a sermon at the church’s headquarters, Canaanland, Ota in Ogun State.

Oyedepo who was speaking on the power of prophecy, said he warned Nigerians in 2015 prior to President Buhari’s victory, stressing that some fellows were angered by his prophecy until they are now faced with the reality.

In his words, “I am privileged to be among the few God shows things long before they happen.

“Some fellows were upset with me when I was talking against this evil government.

“I told this Nation, you are heading for trouble: 2015. Are they in trouble or in turbulence? Turbulence.

“I saw the wickedness of the wicked being forced on the land. Now no direction, no motion.

Five suspected kidnappers were burnt to death by angry youths along the Afuze-Uokha road in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State at the weekend.

It was gathered that the suspected kidnappers, armed with assorted guns, attacked and abducted some travellers who they took into the bush.

However, the local vigilante group got wind of the kidnapping incident, mobilised and waylaid the suspects in the bush.

It was learnt that the locals, who had been angered by the spate of kidnapping in the area, forcefully snatched the suspects from the vigilantes as they were taking them to the police station, and set them ablaze.

"The kidnappers would have been contacting the families of the abducted travellers to ask for ransom if not for the bravery of the vigilantes while locals who were fed up with the criminal activities of these kidnappers set them on fire and left to die,” a source told Tribune.

Confirming the incident, spokesperson of the Edo State Police Command, Kontongs Bello, said that investigation was ongoing.

"After the kidnap, the vigilantes went in search of the criminals who they apprehended in the bush. As they were coming out in Uokha Community on their way to the police station, angry youths in Uokha and adjoining towns took away the suspected kidnappers from the vigilantes. All efforts to get the suspects to the police proved abortive as they were burnt to death. The investigation is ongoing,” he added.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES,

SUNDAY 18TH JULY 2021.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC: BE CONSCIOUS OF THE SPIRITUAL

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8)

In Luke 13, a woman who was bent double came into the synagogue; the Bible says for eighteen years she couldn’t straighten up herself. But Jesus knew her problem was spiritual. So He said to those present, “...ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?” (Luke 13:16).

Who could have thought it was a spirit of infirmity that held her bound? Medical doctors would have been trying to find out what happened to her bones, the muscles, the tendons, or her ligaments—carrying out futile tests. But Jesus discerned that it was a spirit of infirmity.

It’s important that you’re spiritually discerning; be spiritually minded. You have the Holy Spirit living in you; He’s the Spirit of knowledge. Through the revelation and enlightenment He brings to your spirit, you can know the truth about any situation. He’s the Spirit of truth, and part of His ministry in your life is to guide you into all truth. That way, you can always tell what’s behind a particular problem or situation.

It’s also not enough to simply know what’s behind the problem or that a case is spiritual. Learn from what Jesus did; the Bible says, “And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God” (Luke 13:12-13). Hallelujah!

Jesus said the woman was bound by the devil, and if His diagnosis was wrong, His prescription or response would have yielded no result. Jesus always interpreted and dealt with issues from the spiritual standpoint. Likewise, you must be spiritual and spiritually minded. Listen to the Spirit of God; study and meditate on the Scriptures; pray often in the Spirit, and your spiritual alertness and sensitivity will be at its peak always.

CONFESSION

The eyes of my understanding are flooded with light, and I’m conscious of the spiritual realm always. As I speak in tongues, I’m filled with the Spirit and my spiritual alertness and sensitivity are at their peak. And with the Word of God in my mouth and the Name of Jesus, I reign over circumstances, Satan and the world! Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY:

Colossians 1:9
For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

1 Corinthians 2:14-16
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

1 John 4:1-4
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Suspected Fulani militia invade 12 villages, kill 42, burn 338 houses in Zangon Kataf

on
 July 17, 2021

The Atyap Community Development Association (ACDA), in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State said that suspected Fulani militia attacked 12 of its villages, killing 42 persons, burning 338 houses with seven persons wounded.

The Atyap people said eight cars, 13 motorcycles, generators, food and domestic items were either looted or consumed by fire and seven churches have been razed down.

Addressing newsmen in Kaduna on Saturday, the President ACDA, Samuel T. Achie said, “In all the attacks in the 12 different villages as at today 15th July 2021, a total of 42 people were killed and 338 houses burnt with seven people wounded. Several other valuables were not left out as eight cars, 13 motorcycles, generators, food and domestic items were either looted or consumed by fire.”

He noted that the attacks by the suspected Fulani militia spanned across the Atyap dominated districts in the Chiefdom, as if it was a deliberate act, stressing that these attacks are not mere herders or banditry, but a premeditated attempt to wipe out the Atyap race

He added that they have made efforts to be at peace with all the people in the chiefdom thus the importance of this briefing.

He said the Atyap people were defenseless for the whole time the carnage took place with no protection, saying that there is no any place in all the areas attacked that has a distance of more than 10 to 15 minutes’ drive from one security checkpoint to the other, not only lives and houses that were destroyed, but crops and places of worship inclusive.

He stated that their people are known to be purely peasant farmers, but at this season of farming have to abandon their farms for fear of being killed, all schools in the area are closed down hence their children can no longer go to school therefore creating a humanitarian crisis for all the displaced people in the land, which in turns create an urgent need for Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp to cater for those that have been left at the mercy of the weather both in rain and sunshine without any roof on their heads since the renewed persistent attack.

He observed that the whole situation looks like the Fulani Militia wants to grab and occupy their land, stressing that the Atyap people are law abiding citizens that have been loyal to all successive governments to date and wonder why they should be left alone to carry their cross now.

Based on these, the Atyap people asked that the government provide more troops, humanitarian relief materials and a peaceful atmosphere for all, else they would be left with no other option than to protect themselves using all legal means.

According to him, “This dastardly act of unimaginable magnitude of cowardice assault perpetrated by agents of darkness who are bent on destroying already established pathway to sustainable peaceful coexistence between all category of persons and tribes resident in Atyap Land as being championed by the paramount ruler of Atyap Land the Agwatyap Sir. Dominic Yahaya must be stopped by all well-meaning citizens.

These agents of darkness have been identified by our people as Fulani herdsmen due to the language they speak and some of them well known by our people in the affected communities.”

The President noted that initially they had the belief that the peace effort championed by their paramount ruler will yield the desired results as it was done in good faith, pointing out that little did they know that overtime the Fulani Militia have seemingly ceased fire just to go and reinforce.

Samuel Achie stated that in a continuation of their (Fulanis) onslaught on their land, the Fulani militia have unbelievably stormed and unleashed terror, bloodshed and destruction in the following communities just within the span of two weeks.

He added that what is most surprising is the ability of these militias to successfully continue to test the powers of the military by carrying out their well-orchestrated evil acts of killing, maiming and burning hundreds of houses for several hours with little or no intervention by the security forces, since the security personnel’s find it difficult to engage these heartless murderers when they arrive at the scene of the attack, saying that it left us to wonder whether they are under oath or instruction not to confront and shoot the assailants.

He cited a typical example is Matyei, Magamiya and Abuyab Communities which are all only about 3 Kilometres from the Military checkpoint in Zango and Samaru Kataf.

The President said another surprising thing they want the world to know is that in some of the attacked villages, Hilux Vans were cited with food items and other valuables loaded on these vehicles before other properties and houses were set ablaze.

He lamented that all these happenings no arrest has been made and none of the Fulani militias have been killed by the military forces but instead some of their leaders were arrested and taken to police custody here in Kaduna to produce alleged killers of Cows, showing a cow is worth more than human life.

He lamented that these leaders, whose ages ranged from 43 to 85 years, spent three months in the hands of Police before being taken to court and granted bail, after 92 days in detention.

Since last year, he explained that they have made frantic efforts to meet and discuss with the Hausa and the Fulani community to reach a compromise on how to live in peace with each other and are still on that course, saying that they have always toured the path of peace not that they are cowards, but because it is what their parents bequeathed to them, by and large their religion taught them so but in spite of that, they (Fulanis) will not fold their hands to be annihilated and their lands taken over.

He lamented that the absolute silence of the government on all these happenings in Atyap land makes them to begin to wonder whether the Atyap people are still citizens of the state because they are yet to see any proactive step by the government to end these killings in their soil, neither has there being any comforting statement in reference to their situation.

He called on the government of Kaduna State to without fear or favour come alive to it’s responsibility to put an end to the dastard and condemnable killings of its citizens, saying that the government should ensure that the perpetrators are fished out and brought to face the wrath of the law.

“Our revered places of Worship were not spared as 7 churches and their pastoriums razed down by fire in various locations.

Among the Houses razed down by the activities of these Fulani Militia are the family compound of our paramount Ruler, His Royal Highness Sir Dominic Yahaya in Magamiya and also the Family Compound of Retired Major General Shekari Biliyock in Abuyab a former commandant of the Nigeria-African Peace Keeping Arm, the ECOMOG,” he explained.

Samuel Achie explained that the entire Atyap Nation seems to be at loss to these senseless killings by the Fulani Militia, as they have bent over to implement the decisions of the peace accord reached with the parties involved.

“The question is what else were we supposed to do that was not done? It seems apparent that these attacks are being sponsored with larger motives that meet the eye,” he asked.

I didn’t know the roads are so bad, I pity you – Abiodun to Ogun residents

on
 July 17, 2021

Recent revelations by Governor Dapo Abiodun about the worrisome state of roads in Ogun State seems to be a confirmation that his administration may not be well in touch with the people of the Gateway State, DAILY POST reports.

Abiodun, in the past few days, have been making comments that show he was not aware that the majority of the roads linking various communities in Ogun State have totally collapsed.

This, it was observed, came as a surprise to many residents of the State who have never kept quiet over the poor condition of roads in their localities.

“Does this mean the governor doesn’t read comments on his social media handles? Does it mean he doesn’t watch television, read newspapers or listen to radio so as to know the condition of the roads in Ogun State?” a resident of Abeokuta, Biodun Adeniran queried.[Image: FB_IMG_1626506459775.jpg]

Recently, Gov Abiodun has been traversing the length and breadth of Ogun State to seek the support of residents for the forthcoming local government elections.

Abiodun confirmed that he had not visited many of the local governments since two years ago when he assumed office.

This, it was observed, did not avail him the opportunity to know what Ogun indigenes encounter daily while plying the roads.

But as the governor goes out to campaign for candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), he, without being told, sees the suffering of the people as he lamented that he pitied them.

Before he started the local government election campaign, Abiodun had visited Iberekodo area of Abeokuta North to inspect the Arakanga Water works.

Seeing the pitiable condition of the road, the Governor said he felt like his government has not done anything on roads.

“On my way coming here, I saw this road and I felt sad because the road is too bad. And we have been embarking on construction of roads across the state, but this road now makes it look like we have not done anything. All these roads cannot be completed even if someone is governor for 20 years,” he confessed.[Image: FB_IMG_1626506451187.jpg]

The story was the same when Abiodun went to Imeko/Afon Local Government to flag off the APC campaign on Monday.

Addressing the people of Imeko/Afon, Abiodun said he was taken aback with the condition of the roads from Lafenwa to Olorunda.

“When I was coming from Abeokuta and I rode on that road from Lafenwa to Rounder, down to Olorunda, till I got here, I was just shaking my head. I pity myself and I pity you too. It was just too painful. I was just calling the Commissioner for Works like 10 times that this road is so bad. This is just too unbearable,” he lamented.

On his visit to Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Abiodun’s convoy was flagged by residents who came out in their numbers to protest the poor condition of the roads in the industrial hub.

Seeing the situation of things, Abiodun could not help saying he almost shed tears when he saw what the people go through daily on the roads in Ota axis.
“When I was coming here today, I almost shed tears. It is very painful to me. Why is the suffering (on this road) this much,” the Governor cried out.

In his words, the Governor blamed the Federal Government for failing to handover the road to him for rehabilitation.

He, however, disclosed that he had directed the Commissioner for Works to find a means of ameliorating the suffering on the road to Joju junction.

In Ifo, the people groaned over the state of Ojodu, Akute axis roads, as the Governor promised to borrow money to fix same, saying, nonetheless, that “I cannot do everything.”

DAILY POST reports that the situation is the same in the local governments visited by Abiodun so far, especially those in Ogun West.

Addressing the people of Yewa South on Friday, the state helmsman expressed shock that the Owode-Ilaro road graduated from being bad to worse after it rained.[Image: FB_IMG_1626499013387.jpg]

Abiodun said: “I left Abeokuta today (Friday), I passed through Owode-Ilaro road to Ipokia, when the rain had not fallen, and I said ‘this road is bad’.

But when I was coming back, it had rained, then I saw that the road is worse. But I brought the Commissioners of Work and Finance with me. I told them, ‘can you see your life?’ I have told them that the road must be completed before the end of this year.”

Meanwhile, Gov Abiodun has promised to address the problems people face on the roads.

He said his administration had completed about 270 kilometres of road in the last two years, stressing that constructions are going in 18 out of the 20 local governments in the State.

However, Ogun people maintained that the condition of roads in the State are still very poor, especially the ones belonging to the Federal Government.

“It’s only 15% roads in Ogun State that are road worthy, 85% of the road is in a terrible state,” one Olutosin David said.
Adewale Adesoye posited, “People at Agbado-Ijoko road are nothing to you, well it will be a shame to your party if that road is not completed.”

Muheeb Olatunde, an indigene of Ogun Waterside said, “You didn’t award any road for construction in Ogun Waterside. So, there was none for you to inspect or commission during your tour of the LG. Spread the dividend to us and don’t make us regret following you.”

Speaking on Ota-Abeokuta road, a resident, Fatai Yusuf stated, “I can’t count the number of lives these deplorable roads have taken to early grave; containers falling on top of people like it is falling on chickens.

“God will judge you if you cannot defend my vote for you. I know the pains I passed through making sure APC remains the party in Ogun State. But you never promised us this.

Quote:You’re mere SA on Public Latrine and Sewage Disposal to Sanwo-Olu – Biafra group mocks Joe Igbokwe

Biafra Nations League, BNL, has dared Joe Igbokwe, the Lagos State Spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to come to the South East.

BNL said that the APC chieftain won’t be spared if he enters the South East, describing him as an aide to Governor Sanwo-Olu for sewage disposal.

National Leader of BNL, Princewill Chimezie Richards, in a statement sent to DAILY POST on Friday, said that Igbokwe will never enter the South East until he dies, adding that youths of the region will stone him to death for sabotage.

“First of all, he is not ashamed that for years he can’t attend public functions in Igboland.

“He doesn’t visit home, he feels he is occupying a good office in Lagos, for that he is always defending whatever the APC government does. But he doesn’t know he is just a mere SA on Public Latrine and Sewage Disposal.”

The BNL said that Igbokwe will “meet his untimely death if he enters the east to fight the Biafra supporters,” adding that he would only sabotage the cause in Lagos and Abuja.

DSS Manhunt: Igboho Trying To Get New Passport, Flee Nigeria - FG

Quote:DSS manhunt: Igboho trying to get new passport, flee Nigeria, says FG

Orders IG, DSS, NIA to prevent Yoruba activist from escaping
The Federal Government has said Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho, is trying to acquire a new passport to flee the country.

It added that the government had placed Igboho on the stop-list in order to facilitate his arrest and directed the security agencies to apprehend him anywhere he is found.

In the security circle, a person whose name is on the stop-list is denied all constitutional rights and privileges a citizen is entitled to.

The Federal Government’s directive against Igboho was contained in a letter by the Nigeria Immigration Service dated July 9, 2021, addressed to the Director General, Department of State Services, the Inspector General of Police and the DG, National Intelligence Agency.

The activist, a spearhead of the separatist agitation for the Yoruba Nation, had been declared wanted by the Department of State Services on allegations of stockpiling arms to destabilise the country, which he has since denied, but his whereabouts remain unknown.

The whereabouts of Igboho, a lead figure in the separatist agitation for the Yoruba Nation, has been unknown since he narrowly escaped arrest during the July 1 midnight raid by the secret police, ahead of a major rally in support of the call for Yoruba Nation in Lagos.

Following the bloody raid on Igboho’s Sooka residence, the DSS arrested and detained 13 of Igboho’s associates, adding that during a “gun duel,” it had killed two of Igboho’s supporters later identified as Adogan and Alfa.

The International Criminal Court, on Tuesday, acknowledged a 27-page petition filed by Yoruba Nation agitators signed by the Leader of Ilana Omo Oodua, Emeritus Professor Banji Akintoye; Igboho; and 49 Yoruba self-determination groups.

The petition was filed against the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd); the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN; former Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai; and former Inspectors General of Police, Ibrahim Idris and Muhammed Adamu.

They accused the Nigerian leaders and security chiefs of genocide and crimes against humanity against the Yoruba people of Ekiti, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Ogun, Okun Land in Kogi, and Kwara states.

The NIS letter issued to facilitate Igboho’s arrest was signed on behalf of the Comptroller General of Immigration by Assistant Comptroller General of Immigration, Investigation and Compliance, A.B. Baba.

The letter titled ‘Stop-listing of person: Adeyemo Sunday Adeniyi (aka Sunday Igboho), male, Nigerian, passport number A11613637, date of birth 10/10/1972’ was copied to all zonal controllers and control posts Nationwide.

It read, “I am directed to request that you kindly place the above-named person on stop-list. Credible intelligence revealed that Adeyemo is making efforts to obtain a police extract and/or court affidavit to enable him acquire a new Nigerian passport, apparently to facilitate his escape out of the country.

“In addition, he should be arrested wherever and whenever sighted and referred to the Director-General, Department of State Services vide letter no: S.605/A/246 dated 05 July 2021.”

The NIS spokesman, Amos Okpu, however, said he was not aware of the letter. He added that he had no update on the manhunt for Igboho.

He said, “I’m not aware of the letter. Has Ighoho been declared wanted? Well, I don’t have any information on him.”

The DSS spokesman, Peter Afunanya, has yet to respond to inquiries on the issue as at press time.

Following the raid on Igboho’s Sooka residence on July 1, Afunaya told journalists in Abuja that the raid was carried out based on an intelligence report that Igboho had stockpiled arms in his residence.

He explained that Igboho and his group, in the guise of the campaign for self-determination,  had become well-armed and determined to undermine public order.

The agency presented seven AK-47 rifles allegedly recovered during the raid on Igboho’s house, as well as three pump-action guns, 30 fully charged AK-47 magazines, 5,000 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, five cutlasses, one jack-knife, one pen knife, two pistol holsters, a pair of binoculars, a wallet containing $5, local and international driving licences in his name, ATM cards, a German residence permit No. YO2N6K1NY bearing his name, two whistles, 50 cartridges and 18 walkie-talkies.

Others were three charm jackets/traditional body armour, two laptops, one Toshiba and one Compaq laptop, Igboho’s passport and those of his aides.

Afunaya claimed that five of the AK-47 rifles recovered from Igboho’s residence were snatched from the Nigeria Customs and Immigration personnel at Idi-Iroko, Ogun State.

One of our correspondents had reported moves by the secret police to track down Igboho’s financiers and supporters.

Reports said the intelligence agencies had geo-located Igboho’s hiding place but they could not storm the place for security reasons. However, Saturday PUNCH could not confirm this.

Again, alleged gunmen invade Ibarapa
Meanwhile, panic gripped residents of communities in Ibarapaland, Oyo State, on Friday night, as gunmen invaded Igangan, Ibarapa North Local Government Area of the state and allegedly opened fire on some persons.

Residents of the town told one of our correspondents that the gunmen, who allegedly dressed in Customs uniform, invaded the town around 7 pm, shot and killed an unspecified number of people they met at the entrance of the town before fleeing.

The eyewitnesses said they did not know the number of persons killed by the gunmen, but that one of the sources had claimed that one person was shot dead by the rampaging hoodlums.

The gunmen were said to have loaded themselves in four vehicles, two of which were a Toyota Hilux and Sienna.

Some of the sources claimed that hunters and vigilantes in the town, when they heard the gunshots, came out in hot pursuit of the hoodlums. The fleeing hoodlums were said to have escaped through Ayete.

The Secretary of Farmers Union, Mr Taiwo Adeagbo, who is popularly known as Akowe Agbe, also alleged that the attackers wore military uniforms.

Adeagbo said, “The attackers wore military uniforms. They opened fire on those they met when they entered the town. They shot for some minutes and before the hunters could get to where they were, they had fled.”

A resident of Ayete, who identified himself as Kamaru, also told Saturday PUNCH that the fleeing hoodlums met a motorcycle spare parts dealer on the road at Ayete and shot him to death.

He said, “The gunmen invaded Igangan again this evening (Friday) and killed some persons there. But we don’t know the actual number of those killed yet. They entered Ibarapa through Igangan, shot and killed some persons they met on the road. They wore Customs uniforms, so most people would not suspect they were criminals.

“They also killed somebody here in Ayete before they escaped. But our people are pursuing them and they are likely to catch up with them. I heard that they did not go straight but veered into a path but that road is not smooth.

“We later heard that they abandoned one of their vehicles and fled on foot into the forest. But we are living in fear now because we don’t know when they will strike again.”

The Coordinator of the Oodua People’s Congress in Oyo State, Mr Rotimi Olumo, also said his members in Ibarapa told him that the attackers wore Customs uniforms and killed one person in Igangan, one person in Ayete and a member of the Amotekun Corps at Igboora.

He said, “I issued a release about five days ago that the government should beef up security in the area. We heard that they would attack them before Eid el Kabir or on Sallah Day. Now, they have killed one person in Igangan, they killed another one in Ayete and killed another one at Igboora.

“I am receiving a briefing from our members there from time to time. The last one they shot dead at Igboora was said to be an Amotekun officer.”

The Commandant of the Amotekun in Oyo State, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (retd), could not be reached to comment on the attack. Repeated calls to his number indicated that it was engaged.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Adewale Osifeso, when contacted, told one of our correspondents that he would confirm it and return the call. But he had yet to do so as of the time of filing this report.

Recall that suspected herdsmen had in June invaded Igangan where they set vehicles and houses ablaze, including the palace of the Asigangan of Igangan.

BMO reacts as Bishop Kukah reports Buhari govt to US Congress

on
 July 17, 2021

The Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) has accused Bishop Mathew Kukah, the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto, of misrepresenting facts and deliberately exploiting the nation’s diversity to further his undisguised agenda against President Muhammadu Buhari administration.

The organisation said this while reacting to the cleric’s virtual testimony at the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission of the U.S. Congress.

BMO claimed that Kukah’s testimony was not a true representation of the security situation in Northern Nigeria, and the government’s efforts to tackle it.
This was contained in a statement by BMO Chairman, Mr Niyi Akinsiju and the Secretary, Cassidy Madueke in Abuja on Friday.

The statement read in part, “Like many Nigerians, we were aghast to watch Bishop Kukah, a key leader of the National Peace Committee (NPC), making a presentation before a U.S. Congress commission about alleged government-sanctioned persecution of Christians that is clearly at variance with the realities on the ground.

“We make bold to say that issues of banditry and insurgency in some parts of Northern Nigeria are pure criminality, not necessarily sectarian, and we’re seriously concerned that Kukah, who admitted in his testimony that Muslims have also been targeted, would even attempt to present criminal matters as religious cleansing or systematic persecution of Christians.

“In fact, all indications point to the Muslim community suffering more attacks from criminal elements in the North than the picture the Catholic Bishop painted to the Americans about a worse situation for Christians in the past ten years.

“More worrisome is the suggestion by Kukah that the Buhari administration isn’t only helpless but also not willing to deal decisively with bandits.”

It added: “We simply wonder how someone who lives and works in Sokoto wouldn’t be aware of the several bombing raids by the Nigeria Air Force on bandits’ locations in neighbouring Zamfara State, including the most recent one that killed at least one hundred twenty bandits in Sububu forest the day before his skewed testimony before the U.S. Congress.

“Kukah’s case isn’t that of innocent ignorance. It’s deliberate mischief because there is no way a public affairs analyst like him wouldn’t know that no administration has done more than the current one in twenty years to boost the operational efficiency of the Police and other security agencies.”

Why Gov Ortom demanded N100 billion, apology from Buhari – Benue Govt

on
 July 17, 2021

The Benue State Government has explained reasons behind Governor Samule Ortom’s demand for N100 billion with an apology from President Muhammadu Buhari.

Recall that following President Buhari’s approval of N6.25 billion for ranching in Katsina State and the release of N5 billion on Thursday, Governor Ortom had insisted that the Federal Government should apologize to him and extend the same gesture to Benue State by releasing N100 billion to Benue State for the establishment of ranches.

Ortom, who spoke at Makurdi airport, described Buhari’s move as a height of deceit and hypocrisy, stating that the Federal Government which approved such huge amount of money for Katsina State to embark on ranching is busy creating cattle routes and encouraging open grazing in other states of the country.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, the state government explained that despite the Federal Government’s insistence on creating cattle routes for open grazing, the state had stood for ranching.

The statement added that following attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen in the state leading to the displacement of several indigenes, the Buahri’s government in 2018 pledged to assist the government to resettle the displaced people, adding that the promise has not been fulfilled till date.

The statement reads, “There is a difference between a ranch and a grazing area. The latter is open grazing while the former restricts livestock within a fenced area.

“Benue State has always stood for ranching and rejected grazing areas, Ruga and cattle colonies. The Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law of the state clearly supports and encourages ranching of animals.

“Governor Samuel Ortom’s latest statement on the matter is therefore no contradiction. It in fact reaffirms the position of the state in support of ranching and rejection of open grazing. Benue accepted National Livestock Transformation Plan, NLTP on the condition that it will only implement aspects of the Plan which agree with its law on ranching.

“Benue State has no land for grazing reserves. The state has land for ranches according to its law!

“Hundreds of our people have been killed and thousands of others displaced, yet, all that the state got was a promise FG made in 2018 to assist it to resettle the displaced people. Three years down the road, that promise has not been fulfilled.

“Do you now understand the context within which Governor Ortom made that demand of N100 billion with an apology?”

Reports currently reaching DAILY POST from Ibarapa geo-political zone of Oyo State have it that some gunmen have invaded Igangan in Ibarapa North local government and Ibarapa Central local government areas.

DAILY POST gathered from sources that the gunmen invaded the communities Friday night.

The invasion is coming less than two months after about twenty people were killed by yet to be identified gunmen who invaded Igangan town.

Gunmen had on June 5th invaded Igangan causing collateral damages. About twenty people were reportedly killed during the incident.

In the renewed attack, DAILY POST learnt that the gunmen who dressed in Customs uniform stormed the town around 8.pm and left after shooting sporadically.

It was gathered that no fewer that three people were reportedly killed while the shooting lasted.

One of those killed is the Amotekum commandant in Ibarapa Central local government area.

It was gathered that the gunmen killed two people at Igangan in Ibarapa North local government area, while one person, the Amotekum commandant was killed in Igboora in Ibarapa Central local government area.

One of the residents said, “The people thought it was customs officers until two people were killed.

“Local hunters mobilised to the area and they fled through Igboora.
“Amotekun officers in Igangan who were alerted laid siege for the fleeing gunmen who later killed the commander.”

But, all efforts made by DAILY POST to get a reaction from the Oyo State commandant of Amotekun, Olayinka Olayanju proved to be abortive as calls put through his mobile phone were not successful while a message sent to him has not been replied as of the time of filing this report.

We Won’t Stop Reporting Terrorist Attacks, Media Chiefs Tells NBC
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 07-17-2021, 08:03 AM - No Replies

Quote:Media chiefs in the country have said the media won’t be deterred by the directive of the Federal Government that the media should not divulge “details” of the activities of bandits, terrorists and kidnappers in their reports.

The President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, Mustapha Isah; the National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Chris Isiguzo; and the Executive Director, Centre for Media Law and Advocacy, Richard Akinnola; made this known in separate interviews with Saturday PUNCH on Friday.

According to them, the media reports activities and does not create events.

They advised the regime of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to tackle the security challenges in the country and desist from its attempts to gag the media through the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed.

The media veterans were reacting to a directive by the National Broadcasting Commission that television and radio stations in Nigeria should not “glamourise the nefarious activities of insurgents” during their daily newspaper reviews.

Broadcast stations in Nigeria review newspaper headlines daily before their breakfast shows.

But the NBC, in a letter dated July 7, 2021, issued to television and radio stations, stressed the need for “caution” by broadcasters while reporting security challenges in the country.

The letter titled, ‘Newspaper Reviews And Current Affairs Programmes: A Need For Caution’, was signed by the Director, Broadcast Monitoring, Francisca Aiyetan, on behalf of the new Director-General of the Commission, Balarabe Ilelah.

A copy of the letter obtained by Saturday PUNCH, partly reads, “Headlines of most newspapers on a daily basis are replete with security topics. While bringing information on security to the doorsteps of Nigerians is a necessity, there is a need for caution as too many details may have an adverse implication on the efforts of our security officials who are duty-bound to deal with the insurgency.

“The commission, therefore, enjoins broadcasters to collaborate with the government in dealing with the security challenges by;

“Not glamourising the nefarious activities of insurgents, terrorists, kidnappers, bandits etc.

“Advising guests and/or analysts on programmes not to polarise the citizenry with divisive rhetoric, in driving home their point.

“Not giving details of either the security issues or victims of these security challenges so as not to jeopardise the efforts of the Nigerian soldiers and other security agents.”

According to Global Conflict Tracker, the insurgents have killed nearly 350,000 innocent women, children and farmers in Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, amongst other volatile places, since 2009.

On the other hand, the information minister has in recent times attempted to muzzle the press in Nigeria by prodding the National Assembly to amend the Nigeria Press Council Act and the National Broadcasting Commission Act, one that has been fiercely opposed by media stakeholders who described the move as an information blackout akin to the infamous Protection Against False Accusations Decree, otherwise known as Decree 4 of 1984.

Reacting, NGE President, Isah said he agreed with the NBC that broadcast stations should not glamourise the activities of insurgents but stated emphatically that the government could not tell the media how to tailor its reports.

Isah said, “The NBC said broadcast stations should not glamourise terrorist activities which I agree with but I have a problem with the issue of ‘don’t report details of attack’. I don’t know what the NBC mean by that. If there is an attack and certain people die, are you saying that I should not report it? If there is an attack and 20 students are kidnapped, are you saying that broadcast platforms should not report the number?

“I have not seen any media house report details of a planned operation by the military on bandits and terrorists. The media does not do that for security purposes and I don’t think we will ever do that.

“The government cannot tell us how to do how report. This is why we are clearly against the Nigeria Press Council Act.

“The media does not create events; we report events. If there is a terrorist attack, we will report it. In fact, if we don’t report it, that means we are not doing our job. We will not stop doing that, we will not stop reporting events despite the threats.”

Also, NUJ President, Isiguzo told our correspondent that the NUJ would ensure that the media space was not compressed in Nigeria under any guise.

He said, “This latest directive must be reviewed by the commission. The NBC must also ensure that its actions are in line with international best practices and must conform with time-tested models from other nations.”

Akinnola also described the NBC directive as obnoxious and a subtle attempt to gag the press.

Akinnola said, “It is quite unfortunate but it is difficult to gag the Nigerian Press going by its history, no matter the extrajudicial means. It is not possible. If the military failed, there is no way any government will succeed.

“The government has failed in the aspect of insecurity and this is a subtle effort to cover the inadequacy of the government.”

Also, the Socio-Economic Right and Accountability Project kicked against the NBC directive, and asked the government to withdraw the directive.

SERAP in a statement posted via its official social media handle @serapnigeria urged the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) to withdraw the order.

“We urge President Buhari to instruct the NBC to immediately withdraw its illegal order to TV and radio stations not to divulge “details” of the activities of terrorists and kidnappers in their reports.
“We’ll sue if this sweeping gag order is not immediately withdrawn.”

I’ll contest Anambra election, win overwhelmingly, says Soludo

Former Governor of the Central Bank, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has said despite not being listed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), he was sure of taking part in the governorship contest in Anambra State.

INEC had published Hon Chuma Umeoji as a candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in place of Soludo, citing a court order.
But Soludo reacting to his exclusion said he will not only contest the election but will win overwhelmingly.
Soludo emerges APGA guber candidate in Anambra
In a press statement made available to DAILY POST in Awka by Soludo Campaign Organisation and signed by Soludo’s media aide, Joe Anatune, supporters were urged not to despair over the exclusion of his name on the INEC list, but to have faith.

Part of the statement read: “Our millions of supporters in Anambra State and elsewhere in the world are advised not to be dispirited by the publication. Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo will participate in the governorship election as the APGA candidate.

“His nomination was strictly in line with the Electoral Law and INEC guidelines. INEC observed the APGA Congress on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, where he was nominated after winning 93.4 per cent of the valid votes cast in a free, fair and transparent manner which was broadcast live on national television networks as part of deepening the democratic process in Nigeria.

“Our team of dedicated and competent legal experts have studied the judgment and are confident of overturning it effortlessly. The party is at liberty to nominate the rightful candidate so long as due process is followed. Soludo’s nomination followed due process religiously.”

Soludo said there was no need for Anambra people and all lovers of progress in Nigeria to be worried about the judgment as it will be set aside the way others by Mr Justice Stanley Nnaji of the Enugu State High Court and Mr Justice Egbo Egbo of the Federal High Court in Abuja were thrown out.

He further said, “Millions of Ndi Anambra are understandably shocked that there are still desperate politicians in the state who want to reenact the years which the locusts consumed. They are determined to go to any and every length to acquire power for its own sake.

“We thought that the state had passed the stage where some of its politicians were moving from one end of the country to the other in the dead of the night in search of judicial orders to impose themselves on the people as their rulers, not leaders.

“Our supporters and indeed all Anambra people, who have been waiting patiently for Soludo’s leadership of the state, are advised not to be deterred by the Jigawa State Court order.

They should rather remain supremely confident of not only Soludo’s participation in the November 6 gubernatorial vote but also his triumph in the polls with a big margin which will lead to a new era in our state for the benefit of all,” the statement concluded

Bandits, herdsmen have taken over Kaduna from ‘incompetent’ El-Rufai – Omokri

on
 July 16, 2021

Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has insisted that bandits and herdsmen are in control of Kaduna State.

Omokri made the remake while insisting that the State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai’s competency was in doubt.
He described Kaduna as the worst place on earth to live.

In a tweet, the former presidential aide rubbished the move by the state government to conduct competency tests for teachers.

He stressed that a competency test should be conducted for El-Rufai, not teachers.

According to Omokri: “Kaduna wants to conduct a competency test for teachers? What Kaduna needs is a competency test for their governor.

“Kaduna is now the worst place on Earth to live. Leaderless. Bandits and herdsmen are in control. @elrufai
is the one whose competency is in doubt.”

Bandits and killer herdsmen have attacked several communities in Kaduna State.

Schools and religious centres have been their main target. Several students, religious and traditional rulers have been abducted and killed by these bandits.

You’re mere SA on Public Latrine and Sewage Disposal to Sanwo-Olu – Biafra group mocks Joe Igbokwe

The Kano State Government has charged Sheikh Abduljabbar Nasiru Kabara to court over blasphemy and incitement.

The Kano-based Islamic cleric is famous for his controversial religious commentaries and statements that are regarded as statements mortifying the companions and sacrilegious to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W).

The State Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammed Garba, in a statement issued on Friday, said the development followed the receipt of the first information report from the police by the Office of the Attorney General and commissioner for justice which prepared charges against the cleric.

“Abduljabbar was subsequently arraigned on Friday, July 16 before an Upper Sharia Court Judge, Kofar Kudu, Alkali Ibrahim Sarki Yola, where the charges that included blasphemy, incitement, and sundry offences were mentioned”, it noted.

According to the statement after the court sitting, it adjourned the case to July 28, while the scholar would remain under police custody until Monday when he would be sent to prison till the adjourned date.

Groom disgraced bride and his best man for sleeping with his fianceé. He didn't expose them earlier on, but decided to disgrace them on the wedding day.

He eventually calld off the wedding with people begging him and fianceé crying and rolling on the floor.

Did the groom do the right thing?
On my opinion he should have forgiven her as no one is perfect.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES,

SATURDAY 17TH JULY 2021.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC: HIS WISDOM IN AND THROUGH US

To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God (Ephesians 3:10).

Tabove is “gnōrizō” in Greek, and it means to certify, declare, make known or give to understand. The Church is designed by God to house, display or manifest the manifold—many-s
ided—wisdom of God. This is huge!

It means the Church will make known to the
principalities and powers in heavenly realms, the awe- inspiring, endless, wisdom of God. This is our calling in the now of our lives; God seeks to demonstrate His power, His wisdom, through us NOW.

The question is, how is this possible? It’s pretty simple: He filled us with wisdom. 1 Corinthians 1:24 declares that Christ is the power and wisdom of God. Christ in you is God’s great answer to all human need. Christ in you is your glory and wisdom. Until you understand this, you may never take advantage of it.

That’s why there’re lots of Christians who act confused in life, walking in darkness, when they’re the light of the world.
Christ has been made unto you wisdom. Just as easily as you can say, “I’m the righteousness of God in Christ,” always be quick to affirm that this vital resource of divinity—divine wisdom—is deposited within the recesses of your human spirit and expressed in your daily walk.

Remember, being filled with the Holy Spirit means you’re filled with Christ, the wisdom of God. Even now, affirm boldly that Christ is your wisdom; you’re led and guided in wisdom; you speak wisdom and deal wisely in all your affairs. Glory to God!

CONFESSION

Christ is made unto me wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption! Therefore, I don’t lack wisdom, because Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, lives in me. I have access and insight into mysteries and secrets. Praise God!

FURTHER STUDY:

Ephesians 1:16-17
Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:

1 Corinthians 2:6-7
Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

Proverbs 24:3-4
Through wisdom is an house builded;
and by understanding it is established:
And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled
with all precious and pleasant riches.

#TALKINGSESSION

Blessed be God, by whom I’ve been called into oneness with the Lord Jesus Christ, such that I approach the throne of grace boldly, without guilt, condemnation or blame.

I thank You Father, for this awesome privilege, I am alive to God, and I belong in the Kingdom of His dear Son where I reign and rule by the power of the Spirit!

I walk in the finished works of Christ, being the direct beneficiary of His vicarious sacrifice. I am strong, because He’s strong! And I live because He lives!

I thank You for giving me eternal life and catapulting me to the ageless zone, where I grow, make progress, and excel from glory to glory. I am confident and grateful for the life of victory You’ve called me into.

All things work together for my good, including the challenges and troubles that I face; they work for me a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. Therefore, now and always, my heart is filled with joy unspeakable, and full of glory.

I thank You for opening my eyes to see the limitless opportunities that abound for me in Your Word. You’ve brought me into a life of continuous victory; nothing can put me down, because I walk in the light of my victory over the world, the devil and the circumstances of life, in Jesus’ mighty Name. Amen.

God bless you

PDP members stage walkout as House of Reps members pass Electoral Act bill

The controversial Electoral Act(Amendment) Bill has been passed today July 16 by the House of Representatives just as members of the PDP caucus in the House staged a walkout from the chamber during the debate.

The House had suspended plenary and consideration of the bill following disagreement among members on the mode of transmitting election results on Thursday, July 15. It invited the Nigeria Communication Commission(NCC) to educate members on the implications and possibility of electronic transmission of results.

Shortly after officials of the NCC left the chamber, Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila announced the resumption of consideration of the report after digesting the comments of the NCC officials beginning from Clause 52.

Clause 52 allows the Independent National Electoral Commission to determine when, where and how voting and transmission of results will be done. While some members support the electronic transmission of results, others argued that not all areas in the country are covered by mobile networks and so the electronic transmission of results cannot work.

Clause 52(2) reads,

Quote:“Voting at an election and transmission of result under this bill shall be in accordance with the procedure determined by the commission.”

Several efforts to seek amendments to the clause had caused crisis in the House, forcing the lawmakers to spend two days on the exercise. At today's plenary, the lawmakers invited the Nigeria Communication Commission(NCC) to educate members on the implications and possibility of electronic transmission of results.

Shortly after officials of the NCC left the chamber, Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila announced the resumption of consideration of the report after digesting the comments of the NCC officials beginning from Clause 52. However, Deputy Speaker Idris Wase, who presided over consideration of reports, skipped clause 52, forcing Deputy Minority Leader, Hon Toby Okechukwu to call for a point of order. Refusal of Wase to call for a point of order led PDP leader, Ndudi Elumelu and the PDP members to revolt as they staged a walk out.

The House without the PDP members debated on the bill and passed it. According to electoral bill passed,  INEC may transmit results of an election through electronic means where and when practicable.

Igbo presidency not negotiable – Ohanaeze replies Arewa youths

on
 July 16, 2021

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council, on Friday, said it is offended over the claims by the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, AYCF, that the North still has four years to rule Nigeria, after the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari.

AYCF National President, Yerima Shettima had told DAILY POST in an exclusive interview that former Presidents, Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan ruled Nigeria for 14 years in favour of the South, while late Musa Yar’Adua and Buhari would have ruled for 10 years in 2023, hence the North has four years outstanding.

Reacting to Yerima’s assertion, the OYC through its President-General, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike cautioned against pushing Ndigbo to the wall in Nigeria.

He said “there is no doubt that Nigeria is operating on the altar of injustice against Ndigbo and the only way to heal that wound is to allow an Igbo man to become Nigeria President in 2023.

“The Arewa Youth Forum should promote peaceful co-existence of all ethnic nationalities in Nigeria by supporting Igbo presidency in 2023.
“In Southern Nigeria, the South-East remains the only zone yet to have a shot at the seat of the presidency, despite the huge sacrifices Ndigbo have continued to make for the unity of the country.

“My friend Yerima Shettima, the Area Youths President should also do well to sum up the number of years military heads of State of Northern extraction have ruled this country. He should not stop at Buhari and Yar’Adua.

“So, in clear terms, it is the turn of the South-East to produce the next President of Nigeria after President Muhammadu Buhari and the Arewa Youths should see reason to support us, that is the only way for us to believe we are still wanted in the entity called Nigeria,” he added.

Quote:UNIZIK Dean and renowned female professor, Lillian Orogbu, emerges APGA deputy governorship candidate to Chuma Umeoji

...INEC publishes Umeoji/Orogbu as APGA confirmed flagbearers, drops Soludo

A female erudite professor, Lillian Orogbu, has emerged the running mate to the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the election in Anambra State holding in November.

The Dean of the Faculty of Management, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, will be flying the party's flag with the governorship candidate, Chuma Umeoji.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed their candidature in the list of candidates published at the end of the submission of the personal details of candidates by all the registered political parties participating in the November election.

With the development, the electoral.body has sealed the fate of a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Charles Soludo, who emerged in a parallel primary organised by a faction of the party.

It is expected that with this development, all stakeholders of the party, including the Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano; Soludo and others will rally round Umeoji and support him to win the forthcoming election.

Umeoji will be flying the party's flag with his rich political experience while his running mate will be complementing him with her deep experience in the academic.

Obiano should be rest assured that he has a worthy potential successor who will sustain his legacies and uphold them in Umeoji.

He should therefore support the governorship candidate and his running mate to succeed in the election

Already, 12 members of APGA in the state House of Assembly led by the Chief Whip, Ezeudu, have hailed INEC’s decision.

They have gone a step further by pledging to support Umeoji’s ambition.

Their argument is that the federal lawmaker is the only key to APGA’s victory in the election.

The massive supports coming the way of Umeoji and Orogbu are not limited to the state legislature alone.

Some members of the state executive have also taken a position on the matter.

Specifically, majority of Obiano’s aides have expressed their readiness to work for Umeoji’s victory.

The Umeoji and Orogbu joint ticket promises to be a formidable one. It is a ticket of consolidation, inclusiveness and expansion.

While Umeoji will be leveraging on his political prowess, Prof Orogbu is bringing academic excellence, women inclusiveness, youthfulness beauty and brain to the Government House.

The letter was titled ‘Newspaper Reviews And Current Affairs Programmes: A Need For Caution’, and was signed on behalf of Balarabe Ilelah, director-general of NBC.

Operatives of the Katsina State Police Command have killed the leader of a notorious bandit syndicate identified as Abdullahi Ummi and rescued a kidnapped octogenarian in Jigawa state.

Spokesperson of the command, SP Gambo Isah, who disclosed this while briefing journalists on Thursday, July 15, said the bandit leader kidnapped 80-year-old Hajiya Hassana Zubairu of Sandamu local Government of Katsina State, and demanded N500 million ransom from her children.

"Today 15/07/2021 at about 13:30hrs, based on credible intelligence, a combine team of police detectives, led by O/C Anti Kidnapping, busted and raided kidnappers hideout at Gallu hamlet, Yankwashi LGA of Jigawa state, engaged the bandits into a gun duel, killed the gang leader of the syndicate one Abdullahi Banmi, ‘M’, aged 50yrs, arrested two suspected members of the syndicate – one (1) Nana Ado, ‘F’, aged 35yrs and (2) Ibrahim Idi, ‘M’, aged 22yrs, and rescued a kidnap victim, one Hajiya Hassana Zubairu, ‘F’, aged 80 yrs of Rijiyar Tsamiya village, Sandamu LGA of Katsina state," he stated.

"The fact of the case was that on 29/06/2021 at about 03:00hrs, bandits numbering seven, riding on motorbikes, armed with AK 47 rifles attacked the residence of the said Hajiya Hassana Zubairu, abducted her to unknown destination and demanded a ransom of five hundred million naira (N500, 000, 000:00) from her family.

The PPRO said that "the professional skills, uncommon courage and tactical operational strategy adopted by the Police officers who arrived at the scene, made them to singularly isolate and shoot at the gang leader, Abdullahi Banmi,"

"Upon sighting the police team, the bandit took the kidnapped victim on top of his motorbike and tried to escape with her but our officers and men engaged the bandit in a gun battle where he was subsequently killed,” Gambo said.

In the course of profiling the scene, two suspected bandits were arrested and one of their motorcycle was recovered.

"The Command urges members of the public to cooperate with security agencies by giving them credible information on bandits and their collaborators, especially those supplying them with arms and ammunition, informants and other essential commodities

FG Declares Tuesday, Wednesday Public Holidays
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 07-16-2021, 06:34 AM - No Replies

Quote:The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, July 20 and Wednesday July 21, 2021 as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government.

He congratulated all Muslim faithful and Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora on the celebration.

“I call on Muslims to continue to imbibe the spirit of love, peace, kindness and sacrifice, as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) and to also use the period to pray for peace, unity, prosperity and the stability of the country, considering the challenges of insecurity we face at the moment. These mainly are bandits in the North West and North Central, insurgents in the North East, kidnappers, armed robbers, ethnic agitators and sundry criminals in other parts of the country,” Aregbesola said.

The Minister, in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Shuaib Belgore, assured the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is “committed to the security of lives and property of every Nigerian, and empowering the citizens for successful living, the provisions of social investments programmes and adequate security in the schools, especially with the spate of innocent school children being targets of kidnapping” .

Aregbesola, while wishing Muslim faithfuls a happy Eid-el Kabir celebration, advised all Nigerians to take responsibility by reporting any suspicious individuals and criminal activities to law enforcement agencies, especially during this festival.

He also called on all Nigerians to observe all Covid-19 protocols, particularly the non-pharmaceutical measures – wearing facemasks, hand washing and social distancing - designed to keep transmission of the disease at bay. “We must all take responsibility for containment of the pandemic during this year’s festival,” he said.

APC Senators scored own goal by voting against electronic transmission of election results – Sen. Gyang

on
 July 15, 2021

The Senator representing Plateau North in the National Assembly, Istifanus Gyang, has described the refusal by the All Progressives Congress senators to admit

Electronic Transmission of election results in the Electoral Act Amendment Bill as scoring an own goal.
The also said their action has put them on the wrong side of history, as they have denied the nation an opportunity to “sanitise and bestow credibility on the electoral process”.

DAILY POST recalls that this underhanded manipulation has been of great concern to Nigerians as many groups/civil society organisations have been expressing displeasure about the planned removal of the aforementioned.

Electoral Act must be amended for credible elections – Sen Gyang
Gyang through his Special Assistant Media and Protocol, Musa Ibrahim Ashoms, said only two PDP Senators voted in favour of the removal.

Gyang said, “The Senate at its sitting of Thursday 15/07/21 considered and passed the Electoral Act Amendment Bill which among others, provided for Electronic Voting and Electronic Transmission of election results in Section 52 (1-3) as a means of engendering credibility to the electoral process and facilitating free and fair election.

According to him, “Voting became contentious on Section 52(1-3) giving rise to the invocation of the Senate Rule on Division where Senators had to indicate by name where they stand either for or against the provision in Electronic voting and electronic transfer of election results.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the recommendation of the Senate committee on INEC that was voted upon, being Section 52(1-3) reads,
‘Section 52(1)-
Voting at an election under this Bill shall be by open secret ballot,” he explained.

He added that, “Section 52(2)- Voting at an election under this Bill shall be in accordance with the procedure determined by the Commission, which may include electronic voting.

“Section 52(3)-The Commission may transmit results of the elections by electronic means where and when practicable”, he maintained.

Gyang, however, said, himself along with PDP Senators with the exception of only two, voted in favour of the above provision which clearly supports “electronic voting and electronic transfer of election results. Senators of the APC opposed and voted against the recommendation of the committee as contained in Sec 52(3) of the report”.

The lawmaker, who is the Deputy Chairman Senate Committee on Defence, further stated that, “The refusal of the APC Senators to pass the provision of Section 52(3) was an own goal which has put them on the wrong side of history and denied the country an opportunity to sanitize and bestow credibility on the electoral process.”

Soldiers killed, many abducted as bandits attack Sokoto village

Two soldiers were killed and seven others injured when bandits attacked Unguwar Lalle village in Sabon Birni council area of Sokoto State.

The bandits burnt down two patrol vehicles belonging to the police and army and were said to have also kidnapped many residents.

It was gathered that the armed bandits attacked the village around 2 pm on Wednesday, July 14.

"They came on 100 motorcycles; each motorcycle was carrying three well-armed bandits. They came from Tilibale axis and opened fire on the soldiers that were manning a checkpoint along Sokoto-Sabon Birni road. The soldiers also responded but they were overpowered,” a source told Daily Trust.

"Three operational vehicles reportedly left Sabon Birni town with re-enforcement but were ambushed along the way and two soldiers were shot dead while seven others sustained various degree of injuries. As I am talking to you, the whole Unguwar Lalle and environs are deserted for fear of another attack,” he added.

The source added that the bandits looted available shops in the area and rustled livestock.

Cocaine disguised as charcoal with a potential value of up to $41.4 million has been seized in a joint operation between Irish and Dutch police authorities.

The drugs were found inside two shipping containers from South America that arrived at the port of Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, as part of what Irish investigators believe was an attempt to import up to half a ton of cocaine to Ireland, according to a press release from Ireland's national police and security service.

According to reports,  2,000 bags of charcoal were found inside the containers but due to the use of an X-ray scanner and police sniffer dogs, some of the bags were found to contain cocaine.

Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) later confirmed that cocaine was present, but it will reportedly take a number of days and perhaps longer for FSI to extract the cocaine from the product within which it is concealed.

Arrests are expected soon as part of an ongoing investigation by the Irish National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau.

"This is a significant development in the Garda Síochána's effort to disrupt and dismantle organised crime groups suspected to be involved in the importation of cocaine and other drugs into Ireland," said assistant commissioner John O'Driscoll of the Garda Síochána, nickname of Ireland's national police and security service.

O'Driscoll emphasized the "significant international dimension" of the operation and the "importance of cooperation within the law enforcement community within Europe and further afield."

Michael O'Sullivan, head of the Maritime Analysis and Operations Centre, which coordinates anti-drug trafficking operations by seven European Union countries including Ireland, said the seizure was "a massive seizure" that will "deal a huge blow to the organized crime group involved."

O'Sullivan told Irish broadcaster RTÉ that Irish crime groups play a leading role in the importation of cocaine to Europe, where the market for the drug is estimated to be worth 14 billion euros ($16.6 billion).
