Detectives of the Ogun state police command have arrested four members of a syndicate who specialized in robbing and killing POS and UBER operators in the state.

The suspects, Kehinde Saliu Jelili aka Oluomo, Abiodun Akinola, Johnson Fakeye and Jamiu Akinola were all arrested following a report lodged at Onipanu divisional headquarters on the 18th of April 2021, by one Aanu Salaudeen who reported that, she is a POS attendant to one Abiodun Odebunmi a POS operator, and that her boss left his office at Aparadija the previous day, to meet a customer with a cash sum of four million naira to be used for POS transaction.

Aanu told the police that her boss had not been seen since then and that all calls made to his line has not been going through. According to her, they have earlier done a transaction of 1.5 million naira with the person who invited his boss the previous day, and that it was the same person, who called her boss to meet him at ojuore to do another pos transaction of 4million naira.

While commenting on the arrest, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi who is the spokesperson of the state police command, said upon receiving the report, the policemen at Onipanu commenced investigation into the sudden disappearance of the man. He said their efforts paid off when the dead and burnt body of the victim was discovered in an uncompleted building at Arobieye area of Ota without the trace of his assailants.

Abimbola said the case was transferred to the homicide section of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department on the order of the commissioner of police, cp Edward Awolowo Ajogun, who mandated the homicide team to unravel the perpetrators of the dastardly act within the shortest possible period .

Quote:''The CSP Femi Olabode led homicide team, in compliance with the CP's directive, embarked on technical and intelligence-based investigation, which led them to Otun Ekiti in Ekiti state where the suspect was discovered to be hibernating.
On getting to Ekiti, the suspect got wind of the presence of the detectives and quickly escaped to Offa in Kwara state. With determination to apprehend him, the team continued trailing him and they later got information that he was in Benin republic where he had gone to attend the court session of Chief Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho, and that he will soon be coming to Nigeria.

Having gotten the information about the day he will be returning to Nigeria, the team laid ambush for him and got him arrested at the boundary between Ogun and Lagos state.

On interrogation, Kehinde Salihu Jeili,  who claimed to be a native of Apomu in Osun state confessed to killing the victim. He confessed further that he deliberately lured the victim to ota where he and his gang members were waiting for him with the money he was asked to bring, having transact a 1.5 million naira business with him the previous day, and that they matcheted him to death after collecting the money from him. He stated further that they burnt the victim's body in order to cover their tracks.

He confessed further that their targeted victims are always Uber and POS Operators. According to him, one of them will pretend as passenger to the Uber driver, and will lure such driver to where his members were waiting, and as soon as he got to the place, the driver will be hacked to death and the car will be taken away to their receiver.

Also, the suspect stated further that he and his gang attacked another victim of their criminal act one Idowu Ademiluyi at Itori area and snatched his Toyota Corolla car, having matcheted him to the point of death.

The arrest of Kehinde Salihu, led the detectives to their reciever, Abiodun Akinola who is a standby buyer of every proceed of their crime.''Oyeyemi said

The spokesperson added that the confessional statements of the duo led to the arrest of the other two suspects, Johnson Fakeye and Akinola Jamiu at Atan ota and Owode Yewa respectively.  He said one Toyota Camry, one Toyota Corolla and one Toyota Rave 4, whose owners had been gruesomely murdered were recovered from the gang.

Oyeyemi added that the commissioner of police, CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun, who was full of praises for the team for the painstaking investigation which lasted for almost three months, directed that it is not over until the last member of the devilish gang is arrested. He appealed to members of the public to always disclose their movement to at least one trusted person, whenever they have cause to keep an appointment with an unknown person.

The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.

Quote:THIS IS NIGERIA

21 year old Miss Glory Okolie who enrolled for 2021 JAMB exam has been in police detention since 17th June, 2021 till date.

She left the house and never returned.

Since 17th June, her families had searched for her in hospitals and mortuaries but couldn't find her.

Ending of June, 2021, a young man who was freed from IRT office Tiger Base Owerri told the Okolie family that he saw Glory in the custody of IRT officers cooking and washing clothes for them.

The family immediately went to IRT office and requested to see Glory and bail her out and till date it’s been one story or the other.

MAYBE THEY HAVE MARRIED HER, WE WILL FIND OUT.

The IRT officers allegedly continued to extort the family and denied them access to see Glory.

Our team launched investigation and discovered Glory has been transferred to Abuja and tagged IPOB/ESN member.

Behind Bars Human Rights Foundation wishes to draw the attention of IGP Complaint Response Unit Abuja and the new IRT head DCP Tunji Disu to rescue Glory who has now become a maid in Nigeria police custody.

Attached are evidences of all the money extorted and paid into an account provided by the IRT officers by the family of Glory.

Kevin Ajenifuja: Dangote Drugged My Wife, Got Her Raped, Stole My Trade Secrets

Dangote drugged my wife, got her raped, stole my trade secrets, businessman tells U.S. Court

Quote:OYINDAMOLA OLUBAJO

Nigeria’s business magnate Aliko Dangote was involved in alleged rape and psychological manipulation of the wife of a businessman Kevin Ajenifuja, with an intention to steal his trade secrets, court documents obtained by Peoples Gazette said.

Mr Ajenifuja said he had developed the technique and process of a sector exchange-traded funds for Africa in June 2004, after over 10 years of research.

In a lawsuit filed by the businessman on August 2, 2019, Mr Dangote allegedly made arrangements on how Mr Ajenifuja’s 22-weeks pregnant wife was drugged and how young men slept with her with the intention of stealing his trade secrets.

[Image: Screenshot_20210818-104923_Quick-Grid-768x900.jpg]

Mr Ajenifuja alleged that Mr Dangote connived with some World Bank Group employees, precisely on February 8, 2010, to invite his then wife to a meeting at a Catholic mission in Washington, D.C., area where she was allegedly given illicit drugs.

The Gazette also learnt in the lawsuit that Ms Anita was also given opioid medications on a regular basis, which she became addicted to. She subsequently engaged in extramarital affairs with young men near Washington, and the troubling situation was subsequently used to blackmail her into turning against her husband until she handed over his trade secrets to Mr Dangote.

The World Bank denied the allegations and the court rejected Mr Ajenifuja’s lawsuit because it was statute barred.

A spokesman for Mr Dangote declined comments about the lawsuit when reached by The Gazette on Wednesday afternoon.

The businessman only confirmed the theft of his trade secrets in December 2016 after several investigations.

While Africa’s richest man’s alleged actions caused issues between the plaintiff and his wife, Mr Dangote resigned as the President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange in 2014, a year before the expiration of his term, “to conceal his involvement,” the lawsuit said.

Mr Dangote took many by surprise in 2014 when he announced his intention to step down as the president during the 53rd annual meeting of the NSE held in Lagos, making him the first to step down before the end of his term.

“On information and belief Defendant Dangote resigned to conceal his involvement in what happened to Plaintiff and Anita Koepcke,” Mr Ajenifuja said in court documents.

Mr Dangote had cited the need to have more time for the execution of his companies’ expansion across Africa as the basis for his resignation.

Mr Ajenifuja said it was around December 20, 2014, that he searched for the missing copies of the trade secrets and suspected that they had been stolen by Mr Dangote via Anita.

Mr Ajenifuja alleged that the trade secrets were sold to Vetiva Funds Managers Limited, Lagos, one Mr Dangote had a close business relationship with.

Vetiva Sector Series Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) comprising the Vetiva Banking ETF, Vetiva Consumer Goods ETF, and Vetiva Industrial ETF was announced on July 7, 2015.

A spokesperson for Vetiva could not be reached for comments throughout Wednesday.

Mr Ajenifuja said the affairs caused “severe emotional suffering because his home was foreclosed by the mortgage company as a result of loss of income,” the documents said.

Mr Ajenifuja also demanded $1 billion as the least compensatory damages against Mr Dangote and others for the alleged theft of his trade secrets.

In their separate motions, the WBG sought to dismiss the case on the grounds that it was immune from suit, while Messrs Dangote and Onyema sought for dismissal for lack of personal jurisdiction.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONA

Thursday, August 19th 2021.

Pastor Chris Oyakkilome

THEME: YOUR FAITH IN THE WORD

He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him (John 3:36).
“I’ve prayed; I’ve confessed the Word; I’ve fasted; I’ve even sowed a seed; yet, my condition hasn’t improved.” Oftentimes, people agonize like this, as they struggle with their faith. This is because, for the most part, they haven’t learnt how to use their faith.

Until you discover how to make your faith work, you’ll keep struggling. We have a book titled, *“How To Make Your Faith Work”*; read it to learn more on the subject. There may be a time of struggling in any area of your life, where you find a difference between what the Word says and your personal experience. At such times, meditate more on the Word. Don’t focus your mind on what’s happening, but on the Word, on what you believe. Soon enough, the Word will grow mightily in you, and over that situation, and prevail. That’s the guaranteed outcome.

Your faith is the victory over all circumstances and adversities of life. “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith”(1 John 5:4). Keep acting your faith on the Word. You might say, “What if it doesn’t work?” Faith always works. If it didn’t work, then it was never faith.

Take advantage of God’s extraordinary power in overcoming life’s adversities by expressing your faith. Faith not expressed will not prevail (James 2:17 & 26). You express your faith in words and actions, remaining undaunted in the face of adversity.

Jesus said, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you can achieve anything; nothing shall be impossible unto you (Matthew 17:20). So, cheer up; the victory is yours already. Hallelujah! There’s a guarantee that your faith will work if you’d act on the Word.

CONFESSION

The Word of God is in my heart and in my mouth, prevailing as I speak it forth! I live above Satan and the elements of this world, because I’m an associate of the God-kind! By my faith in the Word, I live triumphantly always; I can change what I want to change, and achieve what I want to achieve by the power of the Holy Spirit at work in me. Amen.

Mark 11:22-23 KJV “And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. 23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Romans 4:18-21 KJV “Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. 19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb: 20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; 21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

Nigeria Air Yet To Fly, 3 Years After Unveiling
User Avatar Forum: Market Place
Posted by: Edoman - 08-18-2021, 10:52 PM - No Replies

Quote:Exactly three years and one month after the unveiling of the name and logo of the proposed national carrier known as Nigeria Air, the airline is yet to take off.

While the federal government is insisting that the national carrier would come on stream next year, stakeholders and experts in the industry doubt the possibility with just a five percent contribution from the government.

Daily Trust reports that the Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika had on July 18, 2018, unveiled the name and logo at the Farnborough International Airshow in London hinting that the airline would begin operation in December 2018 with 20 aircraft.

However, three months after, precisely on September 20, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) announced the suspension of the project.

Since then, the minister has insisted that the project is not dead even as he set a 2022 timeline for the delivery of the national carrier, which is a major project under the Aviation Masterplan.

Sirika said the carrier would be completely private sector driven with the government having as small as five percent stake.

But three years later, there is still uncertainty over the project fuelling doubts, misgivings over the seriousness of the government to float the airline.

Daily Trust reports that in between the three years, three different airlines have started operations including Ibom Air, which commenced operations June 7, 2019; United Nigeria (February 2, 2021) and just last week, Green Africa.

In May this year, the federal government said it expects private investors to raise $250m for the proposed carrier as it insisted the project would be delivered before 2023.

In the document, which gives an update on the national carrier project and other sub-projects in the roadmap, the Ministry of Aviation explained that the project development phase has been completed.

But an aviation stakeholder, Capt. Alex Nwuba, had said the project was dead on arrival. He however told our reporter that to make it a reality, the government must own the airline 100% at the start.

“There is no point calling it a national airline when the government owns 5% and foreign interests own more than 10%. Government must take responsibility for the startup and funding of the airline from the get-go.”

He also advocated the appointment of a nine-man independent board of directors and subsequently two executive directors from the airline’s management to oversee the running of the airline.

Still on this, Principal Partner, Avaero Capital Partners, Sindy Foster said the national carrier project is not realistic, stating that it shouldn’t be a priority.

“I feel that the Nigerian policymaker would do better by using this COVID period as an opportunity to fix the issues with domestic aviation so that Nigeria can launch international airlines from Nigeria and designate those airlines as flag carriers.”

But Mr. Chris Aligbe, the Managing Director of Belujane Konzult, an aviation consultancy firm, noted that the project is still feasible despite the seeming delay.

“The minister has said by the end of the first quarter of next year, it would come on stream. The truth is that floating an airline is not an easy thing. In a federal system, the president doesn’t call the shots as it were but he has to work through various committees.”

It was gathered that the incident occurred at 10:30pm on Tuesday night, August 17, while the vehicle was coveying staff on night duty to their respective homes.

One of the journalists said that their vehicle was badly damaged by the miscreants during the attack.

"We thank God because if the attack was successfully executed, our organization would have been burying seven of their dedicated staff but thank God we survived by the whisker. We ran into a road block which we all thought was manned by the police and vigilante just to be descended upon by the miscreants who came out from every direction." he said.

Reacting to the incident, the Chairman of Nigeria Union Journalists (NUJ) Plateau State Council, Paul Jatau condemned the unwarranted assault on the newsmen and called on security operatives to be alert.

Afghan President Ghani Arrives UAE With Family Members, Multimillion-dollar Loot

Quote:Afghan President Ashraf Ghani
Ousted Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with his family members and the multimillion-dollar loot he allegedly packed with when he fled Kabul following Taliban take over.

Announcing Mr Ghani’s arrival into the Emirates on Wednesday, local media reports said the ousted Afghan leader was welcomed into the country with his family on humanitarian grounds.

“The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation can confirm that the #UAE has welcomed President #AshrafGhani and his family into the country on humanitarian grounds,” Sharjah-based outlet UAE Barq reported.

Peoples Gazette on Tuesday reported that the ousted Afghan president fled the country with four vehicles and a helicopter filled with cash.

Nikita Ishchenko, a spokesman for the Russian embassy in Kabul, told Reuters that some of the money looted by Mr Ghani was left flying on the tarmac as it could not fit into the helicopter.

“Four cars were full of money, they tried to stuff another part of the money into a helicopter, but not all of it fit. And some of the money was left lying on the tarmac,” Mr Ischenko said.

On Sunday, Mr Ghani fled the presidential palace in Kabul after Taliban fighters took over the country’s capital.

The extremists made rapid inroads across Afghanistan over the weekend as the U.S. and other countries started withdrawing their troops from the country.

Heavily criticised by his cabinet members for abandoning the country at a very critical time, Mr Ghani pushed back by saying he fled the country to avoid bloodshed.

The original date for the full withdrawal of U.S. forces in Afghanistan was September 11, to mark the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

54 Soldiers Jailed For Demanding Better Arms, Regain Freedom After 7 Years
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 08-18-2021, 04:59 PM - No Replies

Quote:About 54 Nigerian soldiers, who were convicted for demanding better equipment to fight insurgency, have regained their freedom.

In 2014, the soldiers, who asked for better weapons to fight Boko Haram insurgency, were charged with mutiny and sentenced to death.

However, the death sentence was commuted to 10 years jail term after the case was reviewed.

The soldiers were, however, released on Tuesday from the medium-security custodian centre, Kirikiri, Apapa maximum prison, and Ikoyi correctional centre after which they were taken to the chambers of human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, in Ikeja, Lagos State.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_6974eYlOk

Falana, who represented the soldiers at the military court-martial, argued that “the only allegation proved against them at the courts-martial was that they protested the refusal of the military authorities to provide weapons to fight insurgency.”

He added, “Unlike many soldiers who deserted the army, the convicts were ready to defend the territorial integrity of the country. They only made a legitimate demand for equipment to fight the insurgents who were better equipped and motivated.

“The second batch of convicts actually fought and defeated the Boko Haram troops at Delwa in Borno State when weapons were eventually made available to them.

“But for having the temerity to demand weapons they were convicted and sentenced to death.”

The resilience of the jihadist group Boko Haram in Nigeria has posed enormous security, humanitarian and governance challenges.

Quote:A 14-year-old girl, Favour Appiah, has drowned in the swimming pool of a popular hotel, Manuex Place Hotel, in Effurun, in the Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

Sources said the incident, which occurred on Sunday , threw guests and staff of the hotel into confusion.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the hotel, located on Jakpa Road, was often used by several oil companies.

A family member of the victim, who did not want to be identified, said the hotel management was negligent.

According to the distraught family member, the pool attendant was not around when the incident happened.

The deceased was reportedly declared missing on the hotel premises by her relatives before her lifeless body was discovered at the bottom of the pool.

“We searched everywhere when we could not find her. We thought she might have gone to change. We checked, but we didn’t see her until we drew the attention of the hotel to the incident.

“The pool attendant was not there when the incident happened. When the pool attendant came, he refused to enter the water. No one could see the bottom of the water.

It was one of the receptionists who just resumed who entered the pool to search if she was there. Lo and behold, she had drowned and was lying at the bottom of the pool,” the family member said.

Our correspondent gathered that the remains of the teenager were later deposited at the mortuary of the Central Hospital, Warri.

The Manager of Manuex Place Hotel, Benie O., confirmed the incident, but declined to give details.

The acting Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State, DSP Bright Edafe, also confirmed the incident.

Buhari couldn’t eat food after Muslim travellers were killed in Jos - Isa Pantami

Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami has said that President Muhammadu Buhari could not eat food after learning that Muslim travellers were killed in Jos, Plateau state's capital.

Daily Nigerian reported that the minister made the disclosure during a special visit to the Islamic cleric to convey the president’s condolences.

Recall that it was reported that about 25 Muslim travellers were killed at Rukuba, Jos while returning from a religious assembly organised by Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi in Bauchi State.

Pantami told the cleric that President Buhari was saddened by the killings such that he could not eat. He said;

Quote:“The president had since directed that the perpetrators of the attack be fished out and prosecuted.

“He spoke with top military brass on the issue. He had just returned from a journey, and as matter of fact the president could not even eat food."

Five APC Power Blocs Battle For Control Ahead Of 2023 Presidency Poll
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 08-18-2021, 11:43 AM - No Replies

Quote:AT least five power blocs in the All Progressives Congress (APC) are reportedly digging in ferociously to fully control the structures of the party ahead of the February 18, 2023 presidential election.

Findings by Nigerian Tribune showed that serving governors, their predecessors, senators and other major stakeholders in the party are involved in the fight for the soul of the ruling party formed about seven years ago.

Some former governors, who were not successful in the bid to install their successors in 2019, are said to be steadily pushing against incumbent state chief executives and their godfathers as the logjam created by the recent conduct of APC ward congress persists.

The aggrieved party leaders are also said to have an axe to grind with the national caretaker committee over alleged manipulative tendencies, which has delayed the choice of a date for APC convention.

The APC Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee leadership postponed the local and state congresses, due to festering conflicts trailing the conduct of ward congress in states, where the exercise held.

According to the sources, one of the major problems is the presidential ticket of the APC for 2023, with the five power blocs emerging, each hoping to get the backing of the villa.

“Everybody wants to control the party structure across the zones. Everybody is claiming access to the Presidential Villa and this is because it is the villa that installed the current APC national caretaker committee. Some governors are using Mai Mala Buni in the quest to achieve their desire.

“Former governors and serving senators believe they have access to the Presidential Villa. Everybody is lining up their teams, hoping that the structure of the party will fall into their hands. Where a governor has a candidate, some ministers and senators are determined to protect their own candidates, so whoever is able to receive endorsement of the Presidential Villa will be in charge of the APC structures at the state level,” a top-level source told Nigerian Tribune.

“All former governors, ministers, senators and others who believe the governors are oppressing them, belong to this group. For example, a former governor from the South believes he is the ‘son’ of Mr President. He is fighting back because of perceived injustice meted out to his group by the other camp during the 2019 elections. Most of the party leaders, who still feel cheated during the 2019 governorship primaries and believe they are the pioneers of the party, have formed a camp.”

The source claimed that members led the campaign that culminated into the sudden exit of a former national chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, from office to pave way for the Buni-led committee.

It was learnt that another camp comprises allies of the current interim national leadership of the party, which the other blocs claimed was attempting to take advantage of its present status in the APC to completely takeover the structure of the party.

“Remember that it was an influential minister, few former governors and party stalwarts that came together to oust Comrade Adams Oshiomhole from office as APC national chairman. All those stalwarts, who led the campaign belong to this camp, which also includes some serving governors, two from the South inclusive.

“However, majority of the APC governors are in another camp and because Buni is part of them, they want to deploy their influence and resources to hijack and have a firmer grip on the structures of the party. So, everybody is positioning their own members and protecting their interests,” another source said.

The source warned that the outcome of the ongoing power struggle “is predictable, depending on how President Muhammadu Buhari handles the planned convention of the party,” adding, “The stakeholders are so confused that to even pick a date for the convention is a problem.

“The two blocs are desperately seeking the attention of Buhari. One bloc is pro-Tinubu; the other one is anti-Tinubu. In the anti-Tinubu group, there are about three camps. A former governor from one of the states in the South-West is the alter ego of the one camp; a serving governor from the zone is the rallying force for the second camp, while the loyalist of a top functionary in the presidency form the third flank.

“The pro-Tinubu group appears homogenous except that there are two camps: there is a group that comprises people insisting that it is either Tinubu for 2023 presidency or nobody; the other comprises those who are trying to rise on the crest of Tinubu to achieve their personal agenda. So in all, there are five distinct groups involved in the power structure to control the APC machinery.”

According to the sources, most of the ministers are also at loggerheads with their governors, with Lagos State having a peculiar situation.

“In Lagos, the situation is unique. The president personally nominated former Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola as minister. When he nominated Dr Olorunnimbe Mamora, the Lagos caucus opposed his nomination for second term as minister of state for health. But, Buhari said the nomination was for the South-West, even though nominee could be a politician based in Lagos. He told them that he nominated Mamora to represent the South-West, and not Lagos State. So, most of the people that are from Lagos State, including those in the presidency are not part of the local political equation. And the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Committee (GAAC) does not see them as members of the local political equation. So, Lagos is a complicated issue.

“Other sources said the local government and state congresses were technically delayed in order to allow the president to return back to the country from his medical trip to the United Kingdom since the vice president could not report to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, except to the president only. Therefore, it was reportedly agreed that since the president would return within days around the congress activities, the party should hold on further action until the vice president had briefed the president on the realities of the issues involved.

“The president is back, and probably all the issues involved will be presented to him, and hopefully better decisions taken to avoid the present illegality which may threaten and harm the party in future,” the source said.

“This vaccine will be deployed immediately to the States (after NAFDAC’s approval), and would be administered as second dose to those who had earlier received only the first dose of the vaccine during the first phase of the vaccination rollout.
“I, therefore, enjoin all those who have received AstraZeneca as first dose to visit the nearest vaccination site to receive the second dose to be assured of full protection.

“We have also received communications from the COVAX facility of an additional 801,600 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines.

We too must buy guns and protect ourselves - Governor Masari tells Katsina residents

Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina has told residents of the state to take up arms against bandits terrorizing their communities.

Admitting that prayers are important during a condolence and sympathy visit to families of 10 persons who were killed after being hit by a Nigeria Customs vehicle, Masari however stated that it is morally wrong for people not to make any attempt to defend themselves against those attacking them.

Stressing that it is the people’s meek submission that emboldens the bandits to continue with their heinous activities, he added that people must stop thinking that security is the sole responsibility of the government.

Masari said;

Quote:“We must intensify prayers with clean minds to seek God’s forgiveness and intervention.
“We must all rise up to counter the insecurity challenge, we must not seat and watch some people buying guns attacking our Houses, we too should buy the guns and protect ourselves."

On the destruction caused by the Customs vehicle, the Governor said his government is perusing all the necessary legal steps to seek redress for the families of the deceased, as well as those who sustained various degrees of injuries.

CCTV captures suspect withdrawing money from bank account of slain Unilorin student, Olajide Omowumi Blessing

A staff of a bank, Babatunji Lawal, on Tuesday, August 17, narrated how the bank’s CCTV captured a man withdrawing money from the account of the slain University of Ilorin student. Olajide Omowumi Blessing.

Recall that the 300 level Agricultural Sciences student was found dead in her home on 2nd June, 2021 with her mouth gagged with clothes and  bruises on her private parts.

A pathologist at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Dr. Kayode Adeniyi informed the court that the autopsy suggested she was raped and strangled to death.

Eight prime suspects were arrested by DSS in connection with the murder and rape and first appeared before Justice I.A. Jusuf on Wednesday June 30.

The banker who was led in evidence by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Salman Jawondo, informed the court that bank CCTV footage captured the image of the 6th defendant, Abdullateef Abdulrahman, during the withdrawal.

According to Lawal, aside from the ATM instance, the suspect further used a Microfinance bank app to also withdraw money from late Blessing’s account amounting to N50,000.

"The bank CCTV captured the suspect while withdrawing the money from the ATM while putting on a head warner in the process. Withdrawals through the ATM and a Microfinance bank application amounted to N50,000 including bank charges,” Lawal added.

Pictures allegedly from the incident tendered by the banker were admitted as evidence by the court.

Lawal, who was the ninth witness in the case was cross-examined by the legal representatives of the first, sixth and eighth defendants.

The trial judge, Justice Adebayo Yusuf of the Kwara State High Court, however, adjourned the matter to today, August 18, for the continuation of trial.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 18TH 2021.

PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME

THEME: THE HOLY SPIRIT IN YOU

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you (JOHN 14:16-17).

As a little boy, growing up, I was full of fear. But everything changed when I received the Holy Spirit. All the fears in me were disabled and deleted. He began to teach me the Word of God and I became emboldened.

The Holy Spirit gave me utterance, became my teacher and began to guide and instruct me. He began to show me what to do, how to understand the Scriptures, how to interpret the Scriptures. My whole life was transformed. I knew what I was and where I was headed, and how He altered my life and redirected everything.

The same can happen for anybody. The Bible says He’s no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34); what He does for one, He’ll do for another under the same circumstance. Even if He’s never done it for anyone, and you require it, He’ll make it happen for you. Maybe today you have low expectations in life; maybe everyone has given up on you! It may be at home, or in school, or at your workplace, or among your peers; you’re the struggling one, and now you’re wondering, “How can I ever get better? Is there any hope for me?” Yes, there’s hope in Christ.

No need to struggle. If you’ve received the Holy Spirit, recognize His presence in you. Learn to have fellowship with Him through the Word and prayer. Have faith in His ability to make you a success and cause you to fulfil His destiny for your life. Take advantage of His glorious ministry in your life. Pray in tongues always and follow His guidance, and He’ll make you successful in all things.

PRAYER

Oh Lord, you’re gracious and kind. You’re my rock and my salvation, the One in whom I wholly trust. You make all things beautiful, and you’ve granted me an extraordinary capacity to contemplate, think, envision and see endless possibilities. I bring forth beauty and excellence from within me, through the power of your Spirit that lives in me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

JOHN 14:26 KJV “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

2 TIMOTHY 1:7 KJV “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

ACTS 1:8 AMPC “But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth.

Say these with me, ‘I am full of the wisdom of God, for Christ is made unto me wisdom! That Wisdom is in my heart and in my mouth today! The knowledge of God’s Word in my spirit puts me over and gives me the victory today!

Fear, sickness, poverty, and death have no place in me because I live by faith in the Word of God, which is my recipe for total success, victory, prosperity and divine health. The Word of God, which is the source of my life, is living and active in me today!

Therefore, I experience the transforming power of the Word in my finances, health, family, and in everything that concerns me. My life is upgraded today by the power of God’s Word. Hallelujah!

Fully vaccinated flight attendant dies of COVID-19

A Las Vegas flight attendant has died following a month-long battle with COVID-19 despite being fully vaccinated.

Maurice Reginald “Reggie” Shepperson, 36, a Southwest Airlines flight attendant died last week after having tested positive for the virus in early July, KDFW reported.

“It shows how quick life can change,” Dawn Shepperson-Bernard, Reggie Shepperson’s mother, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “How you can build a life for yourself, and how quickly your life can just be taken away. Everything that you worked for, so hard, it can just basically be left in ruins, your family left in ruins.”

Shepperson-Bernard confirmed to USA Today that her son had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

“It hurt me so bad because it was just so quick. I didn’t have time to really even acknowledge what (was) going on. This is mind-blowing. It’s not real. It’s not real. It’s not real,” Shepperson-Bernard told the outlet.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention considers a person fully vaccinated 14 days after they have received their final dose of an FDA-authorized vaccine, KDFW reported.

Southwest Airlines issued the following statement:

“We are heartbroken over the loss; the Southwest Family is supporting each other, and our Employee’s family, during this difficult time. Out of respect for Reggie’s family, we do not have additional details to share.”

Customs Blames NNPC For Increasing Rate Of Fuel Smuggling Across Border.
User Avatar Forum: Oil/Gas
Posted by: Edoman - 08-17-2021, 08:41 AM - No Replies

Quote:Customs blames NNPC for increasing rate of fuel smuggling across Nigeria’s bordersCG Customs says NNPC has repeatedly ignored his proposals for the establishment of petroleum retail outlets in neighbouring countries.

The Controller General of Nigeria Customs Service, Hameed Ali, has blamed the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for the high rate of smuggling of fuel across Nigerian borders.

He said he had on many occasions proposed to the NNPC to establish petroleum retail outlets in neighbouring countries to curtail smuggling of fuel but that the state oil company repeatedly ignored the proposals.

Mr Ali spoke on Monday during an interactive session with members of the House of Representatives Committee on Finance on the 2022-2024 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and the Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP).

The Committee said it would use the10-day session to review the MTEF which was submitted to the National Assembly in July.

While responding to concerns raised by a member of the committee, Abdulahi Saidu (APC, Niger) on the increasing daily consumption of PMS in the country, Mr Ali specifically blamed the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) for giving licences to filling stations around the borders.

He argued that the establishment of the retail outlets would help to end the smuggling of PMS across Nigeria’s borders.

He said since the price differential was responsible for the smuggling, the NNPC could sell at similar prices to Nigeria, including transport cost.

“We have also proposed to NNPC, if the price differential is the problem, we have our banks, Zenith Bank, GT Bank, operating in the West coast. What stops us?

“NNPC or DPR should establish petrol stations in our neighbouring countries, and move these products at the cost that we sell, and sell to these people. We will make money. We have the market and by doing so we will completely diminish the anxiety or the penchant for smuggling.

“Because if a Beninoise will get the fuel at the price we are getting and the cost of transportation, which is the minimum, there is no way he will wait for people to import to him at twice the price.

“We have made this proposal, we have made noise about it, no one seems to listen,” the CG said.

Mr Ali said there was nothing Customs could do to stop smuggling of fuel outside the country because of the method the smugglers use in carrying out their activities.

According to him, “There is hardly anything we can do to stop the smuggling of fuel outside the country because they use the creeks, they use land borders, they use virtually everything possible. We cannot be everywhere; we must begin to think out of the box.

“We should extend our petrol stations into these countries. We should move these products there.

“If you recall, when we closed the border, NNPC recorded a drastic drop in fuel that is being released to the public and all of a sudden, we have opened four entrances on our land borders and yet we have seen historical increases in terms of the quantity being reported as being consumed or released.

“This, I must say, we have very porous borders — very lengthy borders and very porous. Secondly, we have—by the aid of the NNPC created so many filling stations right at the border. And Mr Chairman, these filling stations get daily supply, and when they get these supplies, they release the supply in the tank at night, and by the morning, it has been siphoned.”

Mr Ali called for investigation into the figure being released by DPR, noting that the agency was unwilling to cooperate with Customs on illegal filling stations around the border.

“That is why we said, filling stations that are 20km of the border should not be given petroleum products,” he said.

“We must monitor DPR. Are these figures really what are being released? This thing keeps going up and down. We had a series of meetings with the DPR. They said most of those filling stations at the borders are illegal.

“So, we said, give us the names and list of those illegal fuelling stations, then we will take care of the legal ones. Three years after, we have not received one name. These are the problems.

“There is a law that says that no Nigerian fueling station should be established within 10km to the border. But the DPR will do their survey, they will issue licences to people to operate there. Our concern is the inflow and outflow.”

Responding to Mr Ali’s claim, the Committee chairman, James Faleke (APC, Lagos), asked the Customs to furnish it with all the petrol stations within the 20km of the border corridor.

The Nigerian Army has provided details of Boko Haram and Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) members who surrendered this month.
Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Public Relations, in a statement on Monday, said scores of terrorists turned themselves in between 2 and 4 August, 2021.

The spokesman noted that the development has caused apprehension in the sects’ camps.

The army said the withdrawal of top commanders and foot soldiers has depleted the strength and fighting efficiency of jihad groups.

Nwachukwu confirmed more fighters surrendered with their families at Mafa Local Government Area on 14 August.
A total of 186, comprising 67 adult males, 54 adult females and 65 children surrendered to troops of Operation HADIN KAI at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Ajiri.
Led by their Amir, Manye Aga, they submitted several AK 47 rifles, magazines, a locally made pistol and 8 locally fabricated daggers.

On 15 August, the Theatre Command took custody of another batch of fighters, including 4 adult males, 11 adult females and 18 children.
They emerged from Landanli, Azah, Ngaridua and Kondilla villages and walked to troops of 151 Task Force Battalion, Banki Junction in Bama.

The military observed ISWAP has opted for propaganda via AMAQ Terrorists Media Wing to portray itself as a potent force in the North-East.

“ISWAP is yet to come to terms with the reality of its current predicament, which has posed serious negative impact on its processing”, the statement added.
DAILY POST had reported that about 1,500 terrorists and their families surrendered in the last four months.

You grossly disobeyed your late father – PDP tells grieving Gov Abiodun

on
 August 17, 2021

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has accused Governor Dapo Abiodun of grossly disobeying his late father, Pa Emmanuel Abiodun, who died on August 2.

PDP accused Gov Abiodun of failing to heed the voice of his father, who he said advised him to take Ogun workers and pensioners’ welfare as a priority.

Abiodun had recently recalled how his father advised him to treat workers well when he assumed office in 2019.
But, the opposition party said the governor did not follow the advice of his father if he were to he judged based on the complaints of workers and pensioners in the State.

Speaking with DAILY POST in Abeokuta on Monday, Ogun PDP spokesperson, Akinloye Bankole, who said the party had earlier sent a condolence message to Abiodun, stressed that the Governor displayed gross disobedience to his father’s admonitions.

According to Bankole, Abiodun had refused to remit workers’ voluntary savings deductions to the appropriate cooperative union account in about 17 months.

Bankole also accused Abiodun of not being fair to pensioners, whom he said were shut out by the governor during a protest two months ago.

He spoke further that civil servants, teachers and local government workers in Ogun were being owed different entitlements at the moment, saying “it is unfortunate.”

His words: “Let me start by saying the PDP as a party had sent our condolence message to the governor to commiserate with him over the demise of his darling dad and we pray that God grant the family, the governor and the entire community the required fortitude to bear the passage of our dear ‘Baba Teacher’.

“On his father’s advice that he should take workers and pensioners’ welfare as a priority, it is very unfortunate that the governor has displayed gross disobedience to his late father’s advice. From all indications as we have it in Ogun State today, the governor has not been able to listen or take to his late father’s advice.

“This is a governor that is currently owing 17 to 18 months salary deductions of workers. We have talked about this long before now.

Unfortunately, the governor seems not to care about remitting deductions to appropriate quarters as expected.

“This is also the same governor that refused to see pensioners when they went to protest in his office like two months ago. He actually shut the gate against the senior citizens that have served the state one way or the other meritoriously in their different capacities. He has refused to take their welfare as a priority.

“This is also a governor that has refused to show solidarity or companionship to the plight of Ogun workers since he became governor. This is the same governor that has only succeeded in paying lip service to whatever affects workers in the State.

“Look at the current state of Ogun workers; even teachers don’t get their dues regularly. Also, local government staff and other classes of civil servants in the state are being owed different remunerations.

“It is unfortunate that the governor has not been able to listen to his dad’s advice like he said.”

Meanwhile, the Ogun PDP Publicity Secretary maintained that the party would continue to engage Gov Abiodun, praying that he has a change of heart in the remaining months of his administration.

“We will continue to engage him and we pray that, giving the remaining months that he has in the saddle, perhaps he would have a change of heart and take to his late dad’s beautiful advice. That would, at the end of the day, show tremendous compassion for Ogun workers,” he said.

Bankole concluded that “Gov Abiodun still has enough time to change his ways if he decides to do so.”

Edwin Clark: Using Southern Oil Money For Exploration In The North Is Fraudulent
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 08-17-2021, 07:12 AM - No Replies

Quote:Using Southern oil money for exploration in Sokoto, others fraudulent, says Edwin Clark-led group

The quests for oil in the Northern region and other parts of the country have received a significant boost with the signing of the Petroleum Industry Bill 2021 into law by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) on Monday.

However, the Pan Niger Delta Forum lambasted the President for assenting to thePIB without the amendment of some controversial sections, adding that the move was a way to siphon oil money from Southern Nigeria to the North.

By assenting to the bill which legislation wasstalled for about 20 years before it was recently passed by the 9th National Assembly, the President approved at least 30 per cent of the profit to be generated by the proposed Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited to go to the exploration of oil in ‘frontier basins’, according to Section 9 of the PIB.Section 9(4) of the PIB reads, “The frontier exploration fund shall be 10 per cent of rentson petroleum prospecting licences and 10 per cent on petroleum mining leases; and 30 per cent of NNPC Limited’s profit oil and profit gas as in product sharing, profit sharing and risk service contracts.

The fund shall be applied to all basins and undertakensimultaneously.”Section 9(5) adds, “NNPC Limited shall transfer the 30 per cent of profit oil and profit gas to the frontier exploration fund escrow account dedicated for the development of frontier acreages only.

”The PIB also makes provision for the establishment of a Nigerian Upstream Regulatory Commission which will be responsible for the technical and commercial regulation of upstream petroleum operations and also promote the exploration of frontier basins in NigeriaThe frontier basins include Chad Basin, Gongola Basin, Sokoto Basin, Dahomey Basin, Bida Basin, Benue Trough, Anambra Basin, amongst others.

At the moment, crude oil is obtained from eight states in the Niger Delta region which include: Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Imo, Ondo and Rivers States. The 19 northern state governments had in 2016 intensified their search for oil and gas in the region with the appointment of a British firm to carry out the exploration activities which was sequel to Buhari’s directive to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation to increase the tempo of the crude oil find in the North-East.

With Monday’s presidential assent to the PIB, which would regulate all matters in the oil sector, the oil exploration move of the 19 northern governors had received a huge boost. But the group led by elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark, toldThe PUNCHthat the President, by signing the PIB into law without the amendment of some clauses, showed that he had no feeling for the peopleof the Niger Delta who continue to suffer the environmental degradation which has been the consequence of oil exploration in the zone.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL

TUESDAY 17TH AUGUST 2021.

PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME

THEME: HONOUR THE NAME OF JESUS

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth (Philippians 2:9-10).

Jesus is head over all things; He’s the head of all principality and power. His Name has power in heaven, in the earth, and under the earth. Everything responds to His Name. Demons bow to His Name and scamper in terror; contrary circumstances are changed at the mention of His Name.

You have to learn to honour His Name for its power to work for you, in you, and through you. Your result, or how much that Name works for you is to the extent that you honour it. Honour, primarily, means to show respect to, towards or for. Honouring the Name of Jesus means giving recognition to Him, and serving Him as Lord. His Name only works for those who honour Him as Lord.

For instance, there’re sinners who agree that the Name of Jesus is the greatest Name, but they don’t serve Him; they aren’t following Him. As a result, the Name isn’t working for them. In the same way, as a Christian, you have to be subject to the Lord Jesus. Honour Him in your life for His Name to work for you. God said in 1 Samuel 2:30, “…them that honour me I will honour….” Jesus said, “…if any man serve me, him will my father honour” (John 12:26).

PRAYER

What a privilege to use the holy, majestic, awesome Name of the Lord Jesus, the One that’s greater than all, and to whom everything in heaven, in the earth, and under the earth bows. Today, and always, I adore and uphold the glory of your Name, and with reverence, I declare that you’re the Living God, holy, gracious and true. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Philippians 2:9-11 MSG “Because of that obedience, God lifted him high and honored him far beyond anyone or anything, ever, so that all created beings in heaven and on earth—even those long ago dead and buried—will bow in worship before this Jesus Christ, and call out in praise that he is the Master of all, to the glorious honor of God the Father.”

Acts 3:16 KJV “And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.”

Matthew 10:32-33 KJV “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.”

Bonaventure Enemali Shot By Navy Officer! Anambra Commissioner Escapes Death

Enemali, Anambra Commissioner for Lands escapes death, as Naval officer allegedly shoots at him

Quote:The Commissioner for Lands, Physical Planning and Rural Development, Anambra State, Mr. Bonaventure Enemali was on Sunday shot at Awkuzu junction, Anambra State by men alleged to be Navy officers.

Daily Sun learnt that Enemali was stopped at their checkpoint by one of the officers, who later allowed him to move on, but as he drove off; his vehicle was shot at by another officer.

It could not be confirmed if Enemali sustained gunshot wounds but the bullet pierced the vehicle’s back windscreen and exited from the front. Enemali who hails from Anambra West Local Government Area of the State, is the founder of Expression 1 Awka.

Reacting to the news, Professor of Governance and Comparative Politics, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Jaja Nwanegbo said: “The young man was just saved by God because the shot was actually meant to kill him.

“The bullet entered through the back, perforated the front passenger seat and went out through the windscreen; time to stop that madness.”

JP Udoba, an indigene of Anambra West LGA, said, “Thank God for saving his life in this clear assassination attempt. Is this really from the Nigeria Navy?”

When contacted, Enemali told Daily Sun, “I will speak at the appropriate time.” Also Personal Assistant to Enemali, in the media, Sebastian Okoye, said he was not authorized to speak on the matter yet, but confirmed that the Commissioner was shot.

At the time of going to press, there has not been an official reaction from the Anambra State Government. Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO) Mr Ikenganyia Tochukwu Anthony said: “I am receiving this as information from you. I don’t have any information on this, please.”

A Navy source, in a telephone call, told Daily Sun that the Commissioner told him about the incident. “He called me and I apologized to him.

Though, he said, he was approaching the checkpoint at high speed when they were flagging him to stop. It is wrong to approach a checkpoint on speed, especially when they were attacked by hoodlums last time.

The shot was not actually directed at him. It was a warning shot and I am not sure it touched his vehicles. I have, however, spoken to the officers to be extra careful next time.”

Quote:President Buhari has signed the controversial petroleum Bill into law, POLITICS NIGERIA has learned.

The president signed the Petroleum Industry Bill 2021 into law on monday. Working from home in five days quarantine as required by the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19 after returning from London on Friday August 13, the President assented to the Bill in his determination to fulfill his constitutional duty.

The ceremonial part of the new legislation will be done on Wednesday, after the days of mandatory isolation would have been fulfilled.

The Petroleum Industry Act provides legal, governance, regulatory and fiscal framework for the Nigerian petroleum industry, the development of host communities, and related matters.

The Senate had passed the Bill on July 15, 2021, while the House of Representatives did same on July 16, thus ending a long wait since early 2000s, and notching another high for the Buhari administration.

8 year old girl and her mother found deadinside their home

An eight-year-old girl and her mother were discovered tied to a bed and dead inside their St Louis City home.

Terri Bankhead, 27, and her daughter Da’Nilya, aged 8, were found shot in their north St Louis City home on Wednesday afternoon, August 11.

Police found them dead around 3pm after Terri’s mother went to the house to check on their child, CBS St Louis reported.

The St Louis Metropolitan Police Department believes that they were targeted.

‘I’m asking the community to assist the police department in this investigation so that we can hold any and everybody accountable in this tragic situation,’ Police Chief John Hayden said.

‘It’s just too much for anyone to bear, so we’re asking the community to assist us and provide us with information.’

Bankhead’s cousin, Shagreggria Brown, told NBC St. Louis, ‘It’s very hard to believe. I knew Terri a long time. We all called her “Shug,” because she was sweet as sugar.’

‘She was very loving, giving, kind and loyal. I’m in shock that this even happened to her,’ Brown said.

Before her death, Terri was a certified nursing assistant who only had one child, friends and family say. She only lived in the neighborhood for six months.

‘My cousin was all about her daughter. She went to work, came home and minded her business,’ Shannon Jackson told People magazine.

‘It’s an eight-year-old that was just murdered and tied up in your community. We need to stand up and take control of our community. Do something better, everyone just do something,’ she said.

‘Something needs to be done. Everyone feels like they need to move out of town for a better life and this is where we grew up at.’

Brown added: ‘I’m hoping that whoever did it, feels so bad that they just go turn their self in immediately.’

Jailed former South African President, Jacob Zuma undergoes surgery

[img=317x0]https://alexis.lindaikejisblog.com/photos/shares/611a41c18d627.PNG[/img]

South Africa's jailed ex-president Jacob Zuma, who was recently moved from prison to a health facility, has undergone surgery and will stay in hospital for further procedures, the government said Sunday.

"Mr. Zuma underwent a surgical procedure on Saturday, 14 August 2021, with other procedures scheduled for the coming days," the correctional services department announced in a statement, saying it could not predict a discharge date yet.

The 79-year-old was admitted to the hospital for observation on August 6 for an undisclosed condition, and he has remained there.

His long-running corruption trial over an arms deal dating back more than two decades was last week postponed to next month pending a medical report declaring Zuma's fitness for trial. His legal team was ordered by the judge to produce a medical report by August 20.

The prosecutors may appoint a doctor of their choice to assess whether Zuma is fit to stand trial.

Last month, Zuma began serving a 15-month jail sentence in a separate case -- for snubbing a commission probing state corruption under his 2009-2018 presidency.

UN September Protest: Yoruba Nation, Biafra Agitators Flee Nigeria
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

By Olakunle Olafioye

Quote:Indications have emerged that some leading figures of self-determination groups may have fled from the country following alleged plot by the Federal Government to clamp down on them ahead of the planned ‘One Million March’ slated for September 14 at the United Nations headquarters in New York, USA.

Sunday Sun reliably gathered during the week that self-determination groups in the country uncovered a surreptitious plan by the government to embark on massive arrests of key figures of the groups ahead of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, UNGA, which holds from September 14 to 21.

A notable supporter of Oodua Nation who craved anonymity told Sunday Sun that the alleged move by the government was aimed at throwing spanner into the entire arrangements by self-determination groups to appear at the United Nations headquarters with a view to pressing home the groups’ demand for a referendum to decide on the rights to self-determination of the people.

According to the source, ”since the secret plan by the government to arrest prominent supporters among the self-determination groups in order to bungle the groups’ presentations at the United Nations was uncovered, leading figures that are key to the presentation have been leaving the country ahead of time,” the source revealed.

The source also noted that the government was shocked to realise that the arrest of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, and the attempt to get the Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, out of circulation are yet to yield desired results of suppressing the clamour for self-determinations by the groups. So, their next plan is to embark on massive crackdown of other known figures within the groups.

“It has now dawned on them that the proponents of Oodua Nation and Biafra really mean business because of the way these groups have carried on with their demand for freedom despite the clampdown on the leaders of the groups,” the source said.

Reports had claimed that Ilana Omo Oodua would be making an official presentation at the United Nations General Assembly, UNGA, on the need to convince the world organisation for a separate and independent Yoruba nation, a development, the source said, might have jolted the government into plotting to disorganize the groups’ move at getting the much-sought international attention.

But a statement released by the Communication Manager of the Nigerian Indigenous Nationalities Alliance for Self-Determination, NINAS, the umbrella body of leading regional self-determination groups in the South and Middle Belt of Nigeria, Maxwell Adeleye, indicated that the group would not be making an official presentation at the United Nations General Assembly. Rather, it stated that NINAS was currently perfecting plan to stage a ‘One Million March’ during the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly billed for 14 to 21 September 14 to 21.

The statement reads in part: “We wish to say very expressly that Ilana Omo Oodua, contrary to media reports, will not be making any official presentation at UNGA

“What will be happening at UNGA is that the members of Ilana Omo Oodua under the leadership of Emeritus Professor Banji Akintoye alongside other members of NINAS from the Lower Niger and Middle Belt of Nigeria will be holding a ‘One Million March’ opposite the United Nations Headquarters in New York, United States from 14th to 21st September, 2021 to demand for a referendum to decide on the rights to self-determination of the people who want an end to unitary systems of Nigeria which has been turned into an apartheid state.

“We shall also be demanding, first and foremost, for the abolition of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria which we have shown to be a fraud perpetrated against the people of the South and Middle Belt of Nigeria given that the people did not make it.

“All the sons and daughters of the Southeast, South-south, Southwest and Middle Belt’s clans, living in the United States of America, are being mobilised to stand up for their indigenous nationalities by participating in the one week ‘one million march’ for the liberation of their people.

“The planned march shall be historic and epoch-making. We want the whole world to see the level of injustice, oppression and intimidation currently going on in Nigeria. The time is now.”

The statement listed Prof Banji Akintoye, Prof Yusuf Turakithe Secretary-General of NINAS, Mr. Tony Nnadi; and National Chairman of Ilana Omo Oodua, Prof Wale Adeniran, among others as leaders of the ‘one million march.’

It was gathered that Jazuli and his driver left Kaduna for Abuja since Tuesday afternoon, August 10, but they were neither seen nor heard from until their bodies were found underneath water along Kaduna-Abuja highway on Friday, August 13.

According to the deceased's former classmate, Abdul Ango, the vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a river at Jere, along Kaduna-Abuja highway.

"Inalillahi wa'inna ilaihi raji'un, this is my friend my classmate and my confident, who until his death on Tuesday August 10, 2021, was the Jigawa State's liaison officer, Abuja. His car skidded off the road and plunged into a River at Jere, along Kaduna- Abuja express way and whose body only discovered underneath water this afternoon. May Allah accept the Shahada of Suleiman Jazzuli Dutse and his driver Abdullahi, grant them Jannatil Firdausi and give their families and friends the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss" Ango wrote.

Smiling Taliban militants declare 'Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan' as they pose for photos in presidential palace

The Taliban has declared the 'Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan' after capturing the Air force, Army bases and the presidential palace of the country on Sunday, August 15.

This comes as US, UK and Western nations hastily evacuate their citizens and diplomatic staff out of the country.

This comes after Afghan president, Ashraf Ghani departed the country on Sunday as the Taliban advanced further into the capital Kabul.

Taliban fighters entered Kabul and demanded the unconditional surrender of the central government.

Footage on social media showed the militants celebrating as they took over the Bagram airbase, the heavily fortified military base that has housed US troops the last two decades.

The militants could also be seen in the presidential palace, beaming with smiles as they posed for photos while another set of militants posed in the conference room used by the president while he ruled.

Also disturbing footage on social media showed thousands scrambling to get out of the capital amid fears the militants could reimpose a brutal rule that eliminated women and minority rights when they last held power.

Helicopters could also be seen racing overhead throughout the day to evacuate personnel from the US and UK Embassy while smoke rose near the embassy compound as staff destroyed important sensitive documents.

Many cities fell to the Taliban without a fight after tribal elders stepped in to negotiate the withdrawal of government forces in order to avoid bloodshed.

The militants told foreigners in Kabul to either leave or register their presence with Taliban administrators.

Thousands of Afghan nationals could also be seen rushing to the Pakistan border on Sunday, in a move signalling the end of the 20-year intervention by the US and NATO after the September 11 attacks in New York and Washington DC.

With these turn of events, the Taliban will now restart it's hardcore Islamic rule in the country where women don't come out during the day and if they no part of their body or face must show and they must walk with either thier husband or father.

Update: 34-year-old Delta man marries two women same day, says "Solomon the wisest king in the Bible had many wives"

A 34-year-old fish farmer, Ekpe Akpove from Igbide in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State married two wives on Saturday, August 14.

The traditional ceremonies took place at the respective homes of the brides. A wedding reception is held at the groom's father’s compound.

The bride at the wedding reception today

Speaking to the Punch Akpove said he met his first wife, Okoro Oghenekomeno in 2008, the second one, Maro in 2010 and has been dating them since then.

"I love them both equally and that is why I have decided to get married to them. They both have three children each for me. So, I had to do the right thing and pay their bride price and be married to them legally. My firstborn is 11 years old; fortunately for me, my wives usually give birth within the same period," he said. Read excerpt of the interview below:

Asked if he opened up to both ladies that he was dating them same time, he said;

"Yes, at the very beginning. When I started dating the other, I hid it from my first woman because no lady would find out that her partner was having an affair and not feel hurt about it. Eventually, she found out and I didn’t deny it.

"I told her the truth, and by then I had already rented an apartment for the second (wife) because I was already living together with my first wife, and I wanted to make sure I avoided clashes between them."

"When my first woman found out about my affair, there was nothing she could do, because she was already pregnant for me. All I had to do was apologise to her, and thank God she forgave me. That was how I was able to make them meet and know each other."

On how he handles his wives when they have misunderstandings, he said;

"Women will always be women. Thankfully, they don’t get into physical fights, and they usually have arguments which I believe is normal. As the man of the house, I always sort out their differences, and also I have friends who can talk to them and they listen."

On how he plans to take care of his wives, he said;
"Before now, I had been taking care of them; I will continue the same way I have always been doing. They have been with me for a long time and none of them has ever complained; that means I am doing my best, if not, they would have left me."

Asked why he married 2 wives even though Christianity does not encourage polygamy, he said;

I will ask you a question: How many wives did Jacob have? He had two wives. Even Solomon, the wisest king in the Bible, had many wives. I have never seen anywhere in the Bible where it is written that it is a sin to have more than one wife. As long as you can take care of the children and the wives, that is what God wants. I am happy with my family.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL

MONDAY 16TH AUGUST 2021.

PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME

THEME: THE PLACE OF POWER AND AUTHORITY

But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are savedWink And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:4-6).

According to the Bible, when Jesus ascended to heaven and sat on the right hand of power (the right hand of God), we were in Him. So, we’re seated together with Him in the place of power and authority. That’s why He gave us His Name to live by, to use in the earth, because in heaven, He represents us. We stand in Jesus’ stead and enforce the will of the Father here on earth. But in heaven, we answer His Name.

You’ve got to use the Name of Jesus. Colossians 3:17 says, “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus….” Imagine what victories you’d have if you lived in the Name of Jesus! The forces or elements of this world may want to exert their negativities on you, and get you to believe or act contrary to the Word. But you have to dominate them in the Name of Jesus!

It doesn’t matter what infirmity tries to ravage your body; place your hand over it and command it to leave your body in the Name of Jesus Christ. As the watchman over your body, give no place to sickness in your body. Jesus said in Mark 16:17-18, “And these signs shall follow them that believe…they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” Jesus said, “heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons” (Matthew 10:8). Therefore, exercise your authority and dominion in Christ over sickness, disease, death and the elements of this world.

CONFESSION

I’m seated with Christ in the place of power, dominion and majesty, and in a position of authority. I give no room for darkness, sickness, defeat and pain, for I dwell in a place of absolute mastery in Christ Jesus, and I’ve overcome the world. Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY:

Luke 10:19 AMPC “Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you.”

Liberian Man Stabs His Pastor's 3-year-old Daughter To Death Over Debt
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 08-15-2021, 07:35 PM - No Replies

Police in River Cess County, Liberia, have arrested a man identified as Friday Zian alias ‘Bill’ for allegedly killing his church pastor's 3-year-old daughter following a disagreement over a debt payment.

It was gathered that the 23-year-old suspect stabbed the victim, Hannah Pewee, multiple times with a knife on Tuesday night, August 10, at ITI community due to her father's alleged refusal to pay his (Zian) debt.

According to the LNP River Cess Detachment, the suspect alleged that the father of the child, Pastor Yarkpazua Pewee, owes him sixteen thousand Liberian dollars and had since refused to pay.

Zian further alleged that on many occasions, he asked Pst. Pewee for his money, but to no avail, stating that the pastor had continuously said he doesn't have money to pay his debt.

It was gathered that the pastor instead gave five hundred LD against the said debt, a move that reportedly angered the suspect.

He was said to have picked up a knife, stabbed Hannah eighteen times after a failed attempt to kill her father and then fled the scene.

Hannah’s death sparked outrage among locals in the county, and residents had called on the police to arrest and bring to book the accused.

The County Attorney, Adolphus Brown, who confirmed the incident to FrontPageAfrica said the suspect was arrested on Wednesday, August 11.

"We have to be careful giving out information about the location of the suspect to. We don’t have enough police officers to contain the crowd when we disclose the whereabouts of the suspect. But I can confirm the suspect has been arrested and is in police custody pending investigation. As we speak, the man has been arrested but because of security reasons we cannot disclose where we are keeping him," Mr Brown said on Friday.

"We will send for experts from Monrovia to be part of the case. This case has drawn the attention of people. To have a baby girl to be slaughtered like that, we can assure the public that this case will not go free, and when he is found guilty, he will be sent to Zwedru, where he will spend the rest of his life in prison,"

"Nobody imagined that someone could murder a three-year-old child because of mere disagreement with her father. Imagine the suspect kept saying 'your father owing my money and doesn’t want to pay' while at the same time murdering the little girl. Who in this world could be so brave like that. She is was an innocent child that didn’t know what was going on between her father and Bill, but became the victim,"

"The county is working to ensure that the suspected killer of little Hannal Pewee is brought to book. We want the picture of the crime scene –even the transaction between the father of the girl and the guy, what led him to his action and everything we need as investigators so that the prosecutors can have real evidence to prosecute him,” Attorney Brown concluded.

Meanwhile, the child’s father, Yarkpazua Pewee, who’s the pastor of the Amazing Fire Ministry, was out of words while weeping for his beloved daughter.

Irigwe Killed 25 Fulani Muslim Travellers In Jos, Over 50 Missing
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 08-15-2021, 06:47 PM - Replies (1)

Quote:At least 25 Fulani travellers were on Saturday buried after they were intercepted and killed by suspected Irigwe militia in Jos, Plateau State, authorities and witnesses said.

The incident happened at about 10.30am around Gada-Biyu – Rukuba road area in Jos, the state capital.

Daily Trust gathered that about 50 of the travellers who were moving in a convoy of 5 hummer buses are unaccounted for at the time of filing this report, while at least 14 who sustained various degrees of injuries but escaped are being treated in hospitals.

Contrary to claims that the attackers were bandits, police authorities in Plateau State described them as “suspected Irigwe militia.”

The assailants reportedly dragged the victims out of their vehicles which were trapped in gridlock and then killed many of them using machetes, daggers, knives, stones and other dangerous weapons.

Saturday’s attack was carried out about two weeks after two people were killed when youths blocked the same Gada-Biyu highway.

Two trucks, one carrying cattle, were burnt to ashes. Attacks and reprisals have become common in Plateau State of recent, depleting the gains recorded following the restoration of peace by the incumbent government.

Governor Simon Bako last night imposed a curfew on Jos North, Jos South and Bassa LGAs between 6pm and 6am.

Victims of latest attack

Our correspondent in Jos gathered that the victims of Saturday’s attack were Fulani mostly born and brought up in Ondo and Ekiti states who were returning home after attending the annual Zikr (prayer session) organized by Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi to mark the commencement of Muharram, the new Islamic New Year.

It was learnt that while moving in a convoy of five buses, the innocent travellers were intercepted while passing through Rukuba Road in Jos to avoid the congestion around the city centre.

They reportedly ran into a congregation of some members of the Irigwe community who were moving six corpses from Plateau Hospital for burial.

Plateau State Police Command in a statement confirmed that 22 lives were lost in the attack and identified the culprits as “suspected Irigwe youths and their sympathisers.”

The State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ubah Gabriel, said in a statement: “22 Islamic faithful were intercepted and killed.

“They were travelling in a convoy of five buses and returning from the Annual Zikr prayer in Bauchi State and heading to Ikare in Ondo State. Unfortunately, 22 persons were killed and 14 injured in the attack.

“Upon receipt of the report, a team of police personnel, the military and other sister agencies were immediately mobilised to the scene where 21 victims were rescued and six suspects arrested,” he said.

He said the Commissioner of Police, Edward Egbuka, and GOC 3-Division, Major General Ibrahim Ali, have visited the scene and ordered for a discreet investigation to fish out other perpetrators of the act.

Our correspondent who visited the Plateau Specialist Hospital observed that the 25 corpses deposited had been macheted with many showing head trauma.

A funeral prayer according to Islamic rites was held for the 25 victims within the hospital premises before they were conveyed to the Dadin Kowa burial ground in Jos South for burial.

Speaking with Daily Trust, the Secretary-General of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) in Plateau State, Alhaji Sani Mudi, said the remains of the victims were buried at the Dadin Kowa Cemetery to avoid escalating tension within Jos centre.

A resident of Jos, Mohammed Sani, accused security operatives in Jos of looking the other way when it was obvious that a disaster was about to happen.

“Over 3,000 Irigwe natives including men and women carried out an illegal procession for many kilometres. They took corpses from Plateau Hospital, passed through Ibrahim Taiwo Police Headquarters, Polo Ground and then Gada-Biyu.

“They were wailing, crying and singing war songs. They caused a serious gridlock along the route and emotions were high. Processions have been banned by the Plateau State government because of the tension in the state but nobody stopped the Irigwe. Security operatives should know that allowing open procession is a recipe for calamity,” he said.

Recovered from the vehicle include six parcels of skunk weighing 3.6kg; 30 pinches of Crack Cocaine weighing 87grams and six sachets of Arizona weighing 265grams. Two suspects have been arrested in connection to the drug trafficking.

Chairman of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) has commended officers and men of the Ondo, Borno, Benue and Delta state commands for the seizures and arrests.

He charged them and other commands to sustain the current momentum, assuring them that President Muhammadu Buhari recognises their efforts and would continue to motivate them to do more.

Bride forced to stand by the roadside to beg for a ride on her wedding day after car breaks down on the way to church

A bride had to stand by the side of the road and beg for a free ride to her own wedding after her bridal car broke down 25 minutes from the church.

Shenice Beirne, from Gloucester, England, said she was already running 20 minutes late on her journey to the church to wed her partner Sean Beirne, when their chauffeur-driven transport broke down.

Shenice said she "stood in her big white dress" at the side of the road trying to call taxis to no avail, with her sister Siobahn Ellis waving down cars, reports GlourcestershireLive.

She wrote on Facebook after the incident: "The most unimaginable thing happened to me on Saturday on my wedding day.

"My lovely wedding car broke down on the way to the church.

"Already running 20 minutes late and 25 minutes away from the church, the car decided to break down. After borrowing the chauffeur’s phone and ringing a couple of taxis who were extremely unhelpful what do I do?

"Yes I get out on a lane and hitch hike!!"

Shenice continued: "My sister and I stood in the road in my big white dress waving down cars. We had one guy who stopped in a van who was so lovely but didn’t have space to take us so we continued to wave down cars.

"After around 15 minutes… yes 15 whole minute of cars and cars passing someone who was obviously on the way to their wedding haha, someone finally stopped to see if we were ok and offered us a lift to the church.

"They were coming from near Dudley for a trip to look around the Gloucester Quays. They were my guardian angels."

Pay striking doctors N4.8bn allocated for WhatsApp monitoring – SERAP to Buhari

 August 15, 2021

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to redirect the proposed N4.87billion for WhatsApp monitoring to striking resident doctors.

The rights group noted that part of the funds should be used to improve public healthcare facilities for the sake of poor Nigerians.

In July, the President signed the 2021 supplementary appropriation bill of N983billion into law.

A little over N4.87billion was allocated to the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) to monitor WhatsApp messages, phone calls, and text messages of Nigerians.

Of the figure, N1.93billion was earmarked for ‘WhatsApp Intercept Solution’ and N2.93billion for ‘Thuraya Interception Solution’.

The Federal Government said the allocation was to increase the capacity of intelligence services to tackle cybercrime and counter-terrorism.
But SERAP maintains that the powers to conduct arbitrary surveillance of communications may target opposition figures, activists, journalists and others, given the repression of civic space and Twitter ban.

SERAP told the President to send to the National Assembly a fresh supplementary appropriation bill, which reflects the redirected budget, for approval.

In a letter dated 14 August, 2021, signed by deputy director Kolawole Oluwadare, the body reminded Buhari of his oath of office to promote efficient and legal spending of public money.

It was copied to Abukabar Malami, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, and Zainab Ahmed, Minister of Finance.

“SERAP is concerned about the failure by your government to resolve the strike by the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) over pay, insurance benefits and poor facilities, the group said.

SERAP said all government actions must comply with the Nigerian constitution and the country’s international human rights obligations and commitments.

The letter warned that the threat of mass surveillance can constitute an interference with human rights, including the rights to privacy, freedom of expression, peaceful assembly and association.

SERAP demanded its request be granted within seven days and that failure to comply will lead to legal actions against the Buhari administration.

MAN MURDERS WIFE’S LOVER ON MATRIMONIAL BED

A 32-year-old businessman, Ezekiel Igbokwe, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly killing his wife’s lover, Victor Olatundun.

Igbokwe was said to have killed Olatundun after he caught him having sex with his wife at their matrimonial home.
The suspect allegedly committed the offence at about 12am at Peace Lodge on Itura Street, Awa Ijebu, Ijebu-North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The suspect, who committed the crime on Wednesday, July 27, was arrested by the police the following day.

Igbokwe and his 28-year-old wife were among the 23 suspects paraded at the Ogun State Police Command headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, on Thursday, for various offences ranging from murder to illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

Igbokwe, who said he was a businessman, explained that he had returned from his trip to Onitsha and met Victor on top of his wife on their matrimonial bed.

He said he picked a machete in the toilet and cut the victim in the neck and hand.

Olatundun reportedly died on the way to the hospital.
Igbokwe, who deals in electronics, said he was born in Ago Iwoye, Ogun State.

He said, “I travelled to Onitsha on July 25, and when I came back on July 27, I met a man inside my room making love to my wife. Then we started fighting. The man was stronger than me. When I saw he could overpower me, I got a cutlass in my toilet and dealt him blows in the hand and neck. On the way to the hospital, the fuel in the car finished and he died.”

Igbokwe said he committed the crime due to anger, adding that he never meant to kill the victim.
He claimed that he had never met Olatundun before, saying he also never suspected that his wife was having an extra-marital affair with anyone.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Igbokwe and his wife, Juliet, have three children aged nine, seven and five.

Juliet, who sobbed intermittently, said her alleged lover had been pressurising her for a relationship for some time.
She explained that she had always told him she was married, but the victim never gave up until he ended up at their matrimonial home on that night.

Juliet, who said she sold snuff, said Victor was her supplier and he pestered her for six months before she finally gave in.
She said she suspected that the deceased used a charm on her, as she could not explain how it all happened.

She said, “He had been disturbing me that he wanted to marry me, but I said I was married.

“On the day of the incident, I really can’t say if he used a charm on me. All I know is that he called me that he wanted to see me and I told him not to come; he knew my house and when he came, I didn’t know what happened.

“He used to come and deliver snuff to me in the house. On the day of the incident, he told me he was coming from somewhere and that it was already late. He wanted to sleep in our place till the next day. He didn’t know that my husband was away. He tried to sleep with me, but later he didn’t.”

Juliet, who claimed that she got married to her husband in 2005, said the husband did not take good care of her and the children.
She said their marriage had been turbulent and fraught with fights and quarrels.

The mother of three said each time there was a fight, her husband would leave the house for months.

Mysterious fire razes school, hotel in Akwa Ibom

Dignified Palace Hotel, Uyo and Annang Secondary Commercial School, Idung Esimuk, Odoro Ikot in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State were on Saturday gutted by a mysterious fire.

Several property in both facilities including items belonging to guests were destroyed in the inferno.
It was gathered that the fire started from the top floor of the hotel but no life was lost in the incident.

Meanwhile, the Manager of the hotel Emmanuel James, expressed shock at the incident, saying there was no power supply and the hotel’s generator was off as at the time of the incident.

Similarly, the Annang Secondary Commercial school located in Idung Esimuk, Odoro Ikot in Essien Udim local government suffered same fate yesterday.

It was gathered that the strange fire destroyed school documents, buildings and other property estimated to be several millions of naira.

The Proprietor of the school, Rev. Joseph Ada who spoke with newsmen on Saturday said he rushed to the school on getting the information about the fire incident, adding that by the time he got there, the fire had become uncontrollable.

Ada said, “I was at home that night when I received the unfortunate news and before I could rush down to the scene, it was already late to control the fire. Some concerned neighbours had tried to quench the fire when it started before my arrival but their efforts proved abortive as the flame kept increasing.

“When I arrived, I was helpless as I was confused on what to do at that point because that fire could only be controlled by fire fighters and the only Fire-Fighting Station we used to have in Essien Udim was attacked and burnt during the recent crisis.”

He described the fire incident as a mystery, because the school has no electricity connection or generating plant, adding that they always hire generating set whenever the need arises, wondering what would have caused such an inferno which has wrecked so much havoc on the school.

Mr Ada who is also the Chairman, National Association of Private Schools, Essien Udim Chapter, said that the inferno has rendered both the teachers and students of the school helpless as the September 2021 resumption date in Akwa Ibom State approaches.

He, therefore, appealed to both Local and State governments, corporate bodies as well as public spirited individuals to assist him reconstruct the school which he said has been a source of livelihood to him and many others and a citadel of learning in the locality.

“I am pleading with our governor, Udom Emmanuel, to come to my aid in the spirit of ‘Dakkada’ so that I can reconstruct the school before the next academic session in September. Let the governor through our amiable Commissioner for Education come and see things for himself.

“Here, I am left with nothing except God. Everything I had in this school has gone. Both classrooms and administrative blocks have been razed and all documents completely damaged, destroyed and burnt to ashes,” the Proprietor lamented.

He called on parents and guardians to remain calm as the management is doing everything possible to ensure that their students resume in time despite the fire incident, adding that the school remains the top choice for parents who wish to give their wards qualitative education.

A staff of the school, Mr Emmanuel Akpan, who spoke with newsmen also pleaded with the governments at all levels and organisations to support the proprietor to rebuild the school which he said has helped put food on the table of many and also provided education to children in the community.

“As you can see, candidates who are writing NECO and WAEC now are stranded as there is no hall for them to use,” Akpan lamented.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES,

SUNDAY 15TH AUGUST 2021.

 Pastor Chris

TOPIC: DIVINELY FAVOURED

And from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace (John 1:16 ESV).

If you’re a child of God, you’re divinely favoured, and it’s important that you recognize it. When we talk about being divinely favoured, it means that God’s grace has been lavished upon you in Christ Jesus. The Bible says, “For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ” (John 1:17).

Romans 5:17 says, “For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.” That’s what we received: Abundance of grace! Our theme verse calls it “grace upon grace.” Hallelujah! Every so often, you should declare, “I’m walking and functioning in divine favour.”

Recall the salutation from the angel to Mary in Luke 1:28: “Hail, thou that art highly favoured….”The same expression is used in Ephesians 1:6, but wrongly translated as “accepted”: “To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.” The Greek is “charitoō” and it means to grace or be imbued with special honour; make accepted or be highly favoured. So, we’re “highly favoured in the beloved.” Hallelujah!

You’ve got to take advantage of the grace of Jesus Christ at work in you. With that grace, everything works: The earth responds to you; the heavens respond to you; life is glorious; and whatever you lay your hands to do, prospers. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION

God has granted me abundance of grace; I’m in favour with Him! I’m divinely positioned by His grace for a supernatural and transcendent life. Therefore, I live and walk in the consciousness of the favour-factor! And no matter what happens in the world, I will not fret! Glory to God!

FURTHER STUDY:

John 1:16 AMPC
For out of His fullness (abundance) we have all received [all had a share and we were all supplied with] one grace after another and spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing and even favor upon favor and gift [heaped] upon gift.

Psalm 5:12
For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as [with] a shield.

Ephesians 4:7
But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

#RHEMAFORTODAY

I affirm that I have access to wealth untold! Lack and want aren’t part of my life, because all things are mine in Christ Jesus. My prosperity is unlimited, for I was born with wealth untold.

I am an offspring of the Most High, possessor of heaven and earth, and I am the seed of Abraham, heir of the world. I lay up gold as dust, and the riches of the nations gravitate to me.

God has made all grace [every favor and earthly blessing] come in abundance to me, so that I may always [under all circumstances, regardless of the need] have complete sufficiency in everything [being completely self-sufficient in Him], and have an abundance for every good work and act of charity.

I am rightly positioned by the Spirit of God, and the eyes of my understanding are flooded with light. I have the right connections and ideas to stay ahead in my field. I am divinely connected with all resources—human, material, financial—that are consistent with my destiny in Christ.

My eyes are anointed to see opportunities everywhere I go, and I am divinely powered to take advantage of them. I believe and acknowledge the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ who though was rich, made Himself poor that I might become rich.

I accept my prosperity as His will and plan for my life. Hallelujah! God has given unto me the hidden treasures of the earth, and my gates are continually open to receive today and always. Blessed be God! Hallelujah!

God bless you

Young Couple Set To Wed Found Died Inside Their Apartment In Imo

[Image: Couple-Set-To-Wed-Found-Died-Inside-Thei...x576-1.jpg]
Chidiebere Anusiem, 32, a Dubai based businessman, and his fiancée, Amara Ehirim, 26 has been found dead in their apartment located at Naza in Owerri West Council Area of Imo State.

According to reports, that late Anusiem had recently returned from his base to complete their marriage rites and ceremonies before the incident.

It was learnt that the incident happened last Thursday, August 5, after the deceased hung out with friends on Wednesday night in an undisclosed nearby joint.

According to reports, the late Anusiem’s friend, who was with them during the night outing, has been released from the police detention after he was arrested over the incident.

It was also gathered that the police left their friend after a preliminary investigation exonerated him from having anything to do with the death of the intended couple.

However, there are speculations that the lovers may have died as a result of food poison, ingesting harmful substances or inhaling fumes from power generating sets kept a few distances from their room.

One of the neighbours, who spoke to on condition of anonymity said: “This happened last Thursday. They both went to bed that Wednesday night after everything. In the morning, they still stayed indoors till 10:0a.m., which was unusual because the lady usually leaves early in the morning to go about her business.

“She sells tea in the morning around the town and everybody knows her for it because she has been in the business for years. So when their room was opened, they were found still lying on the bed with something like fumes gushing from their mouths and nose.

“That was when we suspected that something was not right with them and quickly alerted the people who also invited the police from Agbala station. It was with the help of the police that they were rushed to a nearby hospital where they have confirmed dead.

Tinubu, Aides Angry With Buhari, Presidency For Releasing Pictures Showing Ex-Lagos Governor With Walking Stick

Quote:The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, and his close aides are not happy with the pictures released by the Presidency showing the former Lagos State Governor with a walking stick when President Muhammadu Buhari visited him in London, United Kingdom (UK), a source told SaharaReporters on Friday.

Presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad posted some photos on Facebook on Thursday and captioned them, “President Muhammadu Buhari this evening in London, the United Kingdom, visited Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

In the photos, Tinubu was seen leaning on a walking stick as he posed for shots with the President.

“Tinubu and his people are not happy that President Buhari brought NTA (Nigerian Television Authority- government-owned station) and others to visit him,” a source told SaharaReporters.

“When Lagos governor, (Babajide) Sanwo-Olu and (Abiodun) Faleke (federal lawmaker) visited him, nothing revealed he had a surgery or was sick. But the way Buhari had his photo ops handled by the Villa was not what he (Tinubu) bargained for.

“They felt betrayed that such pictures showing him with a walking stick would be released. Note that all the pictures were released by the Presidency.”

SaharaReporters had on Monday reported that Tinubu underwent a second knee surgery at the John Hopkins University Hospital in Maryland, US.

The APC chieftain, it had been learnt, left the US for the United Kingdom on crutches, a few days after the surgery.

“Tinubu had his second surgery at John Hopkins University in Maryland recently. He was accompanied by a popular Nigerian doctor in Chicago,” a source had said.

He had wanted the surgery in Paris but when rumour was rife about his death, he hurriedly left for Nigeria and went to John Hopkins. He left the US for the UK on crutches.”

SaharaReporters had on July 31 reported that Tinubu, who has had several medical trips this year alone, had a surgery about two weeks earlier and could be billed for another one.

The APC National Leader has been off official and party functions in the country for a while, amidst talks that he is being positioned for the 2023 presidency to succeed the incumbent repressive regime of Buhari.

“Tinubu is hospitalised in Maryland, US. His health is failing. He couldn’t participate in launching his Arewa library, and he couldn’t participate in the Local Government Area elections last week. He could not attend today’s APC congress due to health reasons.

“He had a surgery last week,” an authoritative source had disclosed.

A few days after the story, photographs of Tinubu hosting Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state in London surfaced where the duo were seen together in a room.

Reports have it that the meeting was held to put an end to speculations surrounding the APC National Leader’s health status.

In January 2021, Tinubu was also reported sick and hospitalised in Paris, France.

Tinubu had earlier complained of exhaustion and travelled out to rest before the news of his collapse went viral.

He was flown to Paris for medical attention in the first week of January.

SaharaReporters had on June 15 reported that Tinubu was also in Paris, battling with some old age ailment.

“Tinubu is in Paris, France for a medical checkup. His health is deteriorating. Old age and other stuff, but he still wants to be president. This could mean another medical tourism presidency for our country,” a top source had at that time revealed.

SaharaReporters had reported the conspicuous absence of Tinubu during the one-day working visit of President Buhari to inaugurate various projects in Lagos State.

Earlier, the President’s spokesman, Garba Shehu, had tried to downplay the obvious rift between the two leaders and their camps, saying the interview the President granted to Arise Interview where he mentioned Lagos was not about Tinubu.

“You cannot sit there in Lagos, for instance, and decide on the fate of APC on zoning,” Buhari had said while responding to a question during the interview.

“The hope of this administration is to see APC last beyond it. Therefore we should allow the party to decide. The restructuring of the party has begun from the bottom to the top with the membership card registration. Every member of the party must be involved. We will soon conduct our convention. No single member of the party will be allowed to go against the wish of the party.”

Shehu had maintained that there was no rift between the two leaders and that the reference to Lagos had nothing to do with Tinubu.

Nigeria’s unclaimed share dividends hits N170bn – Securities and Exchange Commission

Nigeria's Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced that the total unclaimed dividend in the Nigerian capital market stood at N170 billion as of December 2020.

The Director-General, SEC, Mr Lamido Yuguda, disclosed this on Friday, August 13 at the second post-Capital Market Committee (CMC) virtual news conference.

Yuguda said the figure had increased when compared with N158.44 billion total unclaimed dividend as of December 2019 because of poor identity management and multiple subscriptions of investors.

“We have problems with identity management in the Nigerian capital market and this is really one of the things the commission is trying to resolve.

“We have set up a high powered committee to look at the issue, people bought shares under false names and multiple subscriptions.

“There is a problem with the process but there is a problem with us too as people because if you are buying securities using your own wealth; why will you use another persons name, why will you use a name that will not be traceable to you.

“This became an issue after the introduction of BVN because BVN is tied to only to one name,” Yuguda said.

He noted that SEC in June constituted a Committee on Identity Management for the Nigerian Capital Market in order to address the unclaimed dividend issue.

“The committee is chaired by Mr Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede and is expected to harmonise various databases of investors, and facilitate data accuracy in the market.

“We are optimistic that the outcome of this committee’s assignment would address the challenges of identity management and help resolve some of the issues we face in the areas of unclaimed dividend, direct cash settlement and multiple subscription,” he added.

The Ondo State Police Commmand has paraded four members of an armed robbery gang that robbed and killed six persons including two PoS operators and two Filling Station attendants in Akure, the state capital.

The leader of the gang, Banjo Adu, 24, in an interview with newsmen on Thursday, said he killed the female PoS operator, Miss Adetutu Nofisat Ibrahim because the 28-year-old staff of First Bank refused to hand over her money on time.

Ms. Ibrahim was murdered in August 2019 at her Point-Of-Sale shop located in the Oke Ogba area of Akure South.

"When my gang members and I got to the PoS shop of late Miss Adetutu, she refused to give us money on time and I put the trigger on her and I killed her after which we made away with her money," he said.

Three other suspects arrested by police detectives include Deji Ajayi, Babajide Adewole and Dare Adeoye.

The suspects had also in January 2020 stormed Owe-Akala area of Oke-Aro, Akure and also robbed a POS shop belonging to one Solomon Ehingbe.

Solomon was shot dead while the hoodlums later raided a restaurant located around NEPA area of Akure from where they carted away the sum of N1,200,000 cash, being proceeds from the sales of the day and also carted away handsets of customers who were at the scene.

The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Bolaji Salami, said the robbers also killed two fuel attendants and stole N150,000.

Adu also confessed to killing Ehingbe because he delayed in bringing out the cash when they arrived at his shop.

"We went round to other places like Obioma restaurant and robbed her of N150,000. We also proceeded to Rano Filling Station and robbed them of their money. We were arrested through a CCTV Camera that was placed in one of the places we robbed. We never knew there was camera installed. As we left the place, we got to a PoS operator who did not give us money on time." he added.

CP Salami said the suspects have made confessional statements and would soon be charged to court.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES,

SATURDAY 14TH AUGUST 2021.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC: HE’S RIGHT INSIDE YOU

Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works (John 14:10).

Christianity is Christ in you, not Christ with you, or among you, but in you. There’s a clear difference. When it dawns on you that truly, this great God of glory, in all His fullness and power, lives in you, it’ll change the way you think and the way you live; you’ll have a completely different outlook on life.

This is what you need to train and exercise yourself in: the consciousness of the indwelling Christ.
For some, God is in Heaven, so far away; so they pray and sing, “Draw me nearer to thee O Lord!” How much “nearer” do you want to get to someone who’s right inside you? Have the mentality of Jesus; when He was on earth, He lived in union with the Father, and was constantly mindful of the Father’s indwelling presence.

We read His words in our opening verse; He said, “…the Father that dwelleth in me…”; He was referring to the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is coequal with God. He’s the Father that lives in you! So you see? He’s not far away; He’s in you! Some people worry that sometimes, it’s like their prayers don’t go beyond the ceiling; it doesn’t need to. The God to whom you pray is right inside you, where you are, under the ceiling.

1 Corinthians 6:17 talks about our inseparable union with Jesus; it says, “But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.” This is the reason you can enjoy rich fellowship with Him, and walk in union with Him. There’s no need to try to reach out to Him, crying out as though He were far away. Everywhere you are, He’s in you, and you in Him.
He is your home; you were born into Him when you were born again. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says,

“Therefore if any man BE IN CHRIST…”; you live, move and have your being in Him. Like Jesus, be bold to say, “I am in the Father, and the Father is in me” (John 14:11). Blessed be God!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for making my heart your home, thus making me inseparably one with you to enjoy rich fellowship with you. Thank you for the glory of your presence in my life, and the transformation from glory to glory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

John 14:16-18 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; [Even] the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
Galatians 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

Colossians 1:26-27 [Even] the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what [is] the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

#RHEMAFORTODAY

I affirm that I am set on the path of success, glory, victory and divine destiny! I am walking in preordained pathways, for predestination is at work in me! The course of events in my life has been structured by God to bring Him glory, having established me to fulfil my destiny of Him!

I live and walk by faith and not by sight; I am not moved by what I see, feel or hear; I am moved only by the Word of God!

y life goes forward and upward only and nothing is impossible unto me. I am a partaker of God’s life-changing Word. I am made a better person daily by the power of God’s Word.

The Word is working mightily in me because I am a doer and not just a hearer. I am powered by the Holy Spirit to impact my world for Jesus Christ through the power of God’s Word and the Spirit working effectually in me.

My path is full of life, and I am rightly positioned today, in God’s place of opportunity for me. Wisdom guides me and moves me from within to take the right steps that are consistent with God’s purpose and calling for my life.

I will never lose my way; for God is at work in me, both to will and to do His good pleasure. Blessed be God. Hallelujah!

God bless you
