Senator Dame Nora Daduut representing Plateau South Senatorial district has condemned endless attacks on some communities in Plateau State that saw to the wanton destruction of properties and farm crops.

Plateau North Senatorial district has been under attacks particularly at nights for some weeks and months by gun men suspected to be Fulani herders.

In a statement which was obtained by DAILY POST on Tuesday, the female lawmaker in the upper legislative chambers challenged security agents to immediate action, saying they should bring the situation under control at all costs.

She pointed out that communities in Bassa and Riyom Local Government Council Areas in Plateau North have been under siege by armed criminals, adding that all necessary measures be put in place to stop the deteriorating situation.

”I task security agencies to take all necessary measures to stop the deteriorating security situation in Bassa and Riyom Local Government Areas .”

She said, the attackers should be made to pay for their heinous crimes, while describing the ugly development as unfortunate even as government has been doing all it could to maintain peace in the State.

“I call on security operatives to go after those attacking innocent villagers and they should be made to pay for their heinous actions.”

Senator Dadu’ut commended Governor Simon Lalong for summoning a security meeting said that she is confident that the Lalong led Government will engage all stakeholders in addressing the matter with a view to bringing an end to the unfortunate and unacceptable attacks on innocent citizens aimed at disrupting the peace of the affected areas and the State at large.

She lauded governor Simon Lalong for his swift intervention as ensuring that the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the Peace Building Agency (PBA) immediately go to the affected communities to provide humanitarian assistance.

While sympathising with the victims, she called for calm and assured the people of governments intervention.

Provide information on 400 Boko Haram sponsors – Falana writes Malami

A law firm of Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has written to the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, requesting information on the charges brought against 400 persons arrested for allegedly sponsoring Boko Haram.

The suspects were arrested in an operation coordinated by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

They were apprehended in Kano, Borno, Abuja, Lagos, Sokoto, Adamawa, Kaduna, and Zamfara.

Malami had said criminal charges bordering on terrorism were already being prepared against the suspects while the investigation continues.

In a freedom of information (FoI) request signed by Samuel Ogala on behalf of Falana & Falana‘s Chambers, Malami was asked to provide the information of their prosecution within seven days in accordance with the act.

It read: “On May 4 2021, it was widely reported in the print and electronic media that the Federal Government had concluded arrangements to prosecute about 400 alleged sponsors and financiers of terrorism in Nigeria.

“In the said publication, your office assured the nation that the suspects would be arraigned after the industrial action recently embarked upon by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN).

“In view of the terrorist attacks being unleashed on law-abiding citizens by groups of insurgents in several parts of the country, we strongly commend the move by the Federal Government to prosecute the suspects who were reported to have been arrested in a nationwide operation a few months ago.

“We, however, request that our law firm be furnished with information with respect to when criminal charges were filed against the suspects since the strike by JUSUN has since been called off.

“Kindly ensure that we are furnished with the requested information within 7 days of the receipt of this letter in accordance with the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act, 2011.

Quote:The Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan has fixed August 4 for the suit filed by Yoruba Nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho, for an injunction to stop his arrest.

Igboho had through his counsel, Chief Yomi Aliyyu ( SAN), filed an application before the court asking for N5bn damages for the destruction of his cars and residence in Ibadan during the July 1 raid on his residence by the Department of State Services.

He also asked the court to stop the Attorney General of the Federation, DSS and other security agencies from arresting him or infringing on his fundamental human rights.

Igboho’s counsel told our correspondent in a chat that the application would be moved before the court on August 4.

He said, “On August 4, at the High Court 7 of Oyo State, we will moved for an order of interim injunction pending the hearing of the main suit for an order restraining the AGFand DSS from further breach of the applicant’s fundamental human rights.

Igboho had prayed for, “An order of injunction restraining the respondents, their agents, privies and associates in other security forces and/or anybody acting on their behalf and/or instructions from arresting, detaining, molesting, harassing and/or in any way interfering with his to personal liberty, freedom of movement of Chief Sunday Adeyemo Sunday Igboho, enjoyment of his property without fear of invasion of his home by the respondents and their agents,” among others.

DSS Releases 5 #BuhariMustGo Activists Arrested At Dunamis Church (Pictures)

Quote:FreeDunamis5: The courageous young people (#Dunamis5) illegally detained by Buhari’s tyrannical regime were just released from detention by the lawless Nigerian secret police, Department of State Services (DSS) after 30 days in detention because they wore #BuhariMustGo Tshirts to Dunamis Church service in Abuja on July 4 2021.

We want to appreciate everyone who stood firmly by these young men and the #Revolutionnow movement during their unjust incarceration-torture and dehumanisation in the hands of Dr. Paul Enenche’s church security before they were handed over to the DSS.

The lawsuit in pursuit of justice for the five revolutionaries will continue at the Federal High Court and administrative sanctions will be pursued against the Magistrate that ignored a superior court order ordering their release as well as the three DSS lawyers who flagrantly ignored the higher court orders to arraign them before the Magistrate.

Their lawyers will also pursue a contempt of court proceeding against the DG of DSS, Yusuf Bichi Mogaji in coming days. Special thanks to the lead lawyer in the case, Barrister Tope Tomekun and his team for a marvellous job challenging the authoritarian regime relentlessly!

Rivers To Striking Doctors: Return To Work Within 24-Hours Or be dismissed
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 08-04-2021, 07:04 AM - No Replies

Quote:The Rivers State Government has threatened to invoke the no-work-no-pay policy against striking resident doctors in state-owned hospitals.

Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Tammy Danagogo, in a statement on Tuesday said the strike should be restricted to resident doctors that are directly under the payroll of the Federal Government.

Danagogo said resident doctors in the state are not owed and directed them under the employment of the state government to call off the strike and return to work within 24-hours or risk their salaries and sack.

The statement titled, ‘Government Special Announcement’ reads,” Sequel to the ongoing strike action by the Rivers State chapter of the National Association of Resident Doctors with respect to irregularities in the payment of salaries of house officers by the Federal Government, the Rivers State Government hereby directs all resident doctors under the employment of the state government to call off its strike action immediately.

“Whereas the NARD has a right to go on strike, we expect that such should be restricted to resident doctors that are directly under the payroll of the Federal Government, particularly as the Rivers State Government does not owe salaries or benefits to resident doctors in the state.

“We are, therefore, unable to decipher why resident doctors in the state will embark on sympathy strike with their counterparts in the employment of the Federal Government.

“To this end, the Rivers State Government having reaffirmed its position with respect to the above, will not tolerate further strike actions by resident doctors in Rivers State and will be compelled to invoke the ‘no work, no pay’ rule on striking house officers.

“We, therefore, direct all resident doctors to call off the ongoing strike in the State and return to work within 24hrs, or forfeit their salaries and risk being sacked.”

Recall that resident doctors in the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital joined the indefinite nationwide which started on Monday, saying the state government was yet to pay Covid-19 inducement hazard allowance, among others.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL

WEDNESDAY 4TH AUGUST 2021.

PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME

THEME: THE KINGDOM IN YOU

Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God (Mark 1:14).

Jesus came preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. He said the time was fulfilled, and that the Kingdom of God was near (Mark 1:15). What is the Kingdom of God? The Kingdom of God isn’t a place; it’s the reign of God, where He rules as Lord, and expresses Himself—His glory and His goodness.

That’s why Jesus cautioned that when we’re told, “the Kingdom of God is over there,” or “it’s over here,” don’t believe it, because the Kingdom doesn’t come by observation; it’s within you (Luke 17:20-21). God’s plan in this age is to set up His Kingdom in the hearts of men as a spiritual kingdom.

Recall when Jesus was brought before Pilate, in John 18:36-37; Pilate asked Him some questions to which He responded, “…My Kingdom is not of this world…” (John 18:36). God’s Kingdom isn’t a physical structure; yet Jesus said, “It has come!” Indeed, it has, because it’s in our hearts.

The Gospel today is that God’s Kingdom can be set up in the hearts of men; it has arrived! Jesus said, “…If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him” (John 14:23). This wasn’t provided in the days of Abraham, Moses, Elijah, Elisha, David, Solomon and the patriarchs of old; but it is in our day.

When Jesus came, He brought the Kingdom in Him. Now that we’ve received Him, we have the Kingdom in us: the glory, grace and the life of God— all of divinity has been set up in your heart! God is at home in you now. You’ve become, not just a citizen of the Kingdom, but also the bearer or carrier of the Kingdom, of divine verities. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for your Kingdom that’s in my heart; your glory and righteousness that are in me and revealed through me. Your Kingdom reigns, and it’s established in the earth, and in the hearts of men as the Gospel is proclaimed around the world today, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Colossians 1:27 KJV “to whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:”

2 Corinthians 4:6-7 KJV “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.”

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

I affirm that I am filled with the knowledge of God’s word in all wisdom and spiritual understanding! My heart is daily open to knowledge; therefore, the Word of God prevails mightily in me, producing glory in my life.

My victory is undeniable, and all the blessings and results of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ are evident in my life. I am God’s extension in the earth, and the power of the Holy Spirit resides and is fully operational in me. When I show up, burdens are lifted, and yokes destroyed.

I am a God-carrying vessel and a dispenser of eternal verities. I’ve received an abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness. I reign in life, over and above the corrupting influences of this world: sickness, lack, and everything that limits.

The grace of God is multiplied in my life through the knowledge of the Word in my heart. I am more than a man, the spirit of perfection is at work in me. I live out the supernatural life naturally, demonstrating the glory, wisdom, and excellence of divinity. I am joined to the Lord and have become inseparable with Him, bearing fruits of His righteousness that is inherent in my spirit.

I am loaded, my life is like a well-watered garden. I am fruitful and productive; making progress in every area of my life. I am complete in Christ, and every facet of my life is perfected for excellence.

The Spirit guides and inspires me to take actions that are consistent with the Father’s will; actions that guarantee evident, and unstoppable progress, increase and blessings for me. Glory to God. Hallelujah!

God bless you

Bandits are worse security risk than IPOB, Igboho – Shehu Sani

Senator Shehu Sani has stated that North Eastern Nigeria would be a safe place if the government spent a fraction of the time spent on fighting self determination agitations on bandits.

Sani stated that Kaduna 'is under siege' by bandits and criminal elements and that because banditry and kidnapping have become very lucrative, stopping it now will be very hard.

Speaking to SunNewsOnline, Sani said;

"Kaduna is a state under siege; armed bandits have taken over most parts of the state, they are impoverishing our people by forcing them to sell their homes, land and other property in order to pay ransom to get their loved ones freed. "

"They have destroyed our agricultural system in the sense that farmers can no longer go to their farms. Our educational system has been disrupted because of the activities of these bandits. They have become more daring and audacious that in some places, they go about collecting taxes. They have become a state within a state; that is the sad situation we found ourselves in."

"Kidnapping has become a lucrative business in the North West part of Nigeria whereby they have become an authority onto themselves. In our own state Kaduna, hardly a day goes by without reported cases of kidnapping. In fact, the ones that are reported are when the numbers are much not when they are three or four."

"The sad thing is that the kingpins of those involved in these kidnapping businesses are known; if the security agencies don’t go after them, we won’t get an end to kidnappings in the North East. These kidnappers don’t have a central command and control, they control various territories and they sometimes trade their hostages between themselves."

" When they kidnap a victim and the ransom is not paid on time, they trade the victim to another kidnapper who will increase the ransom to be paid. The government should be serious in terms of apprehending these gang leaders because until they are apprehended, we will not get to the bottom of these matters and the kidnapping business is not going to stop."

"The kidnappers are not like Boko Haram or Islamic State of west African Province, (ISWAP) that has a leader you can talk to. The kidnappers and bandits exist in clusters and the tendency of them violating whatever agreement you reach with them is very high. So, Gov El Rufai has negotiated before and it has become a serious stigma in the sense that even the states that are negotiating have themselves not been able to end banditry and terrorism in their place."

" It is not just negotiation that we should be talking about, I think there should also be the political will to make sure bandits and terrorists activities are curtailed and contained."

Speaking about Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho who are pursuing secessionist causes, Sani said;

"The herdsmen and bandits are carrying arms, unleashing terror on innocent citizens, but the agitations of Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho are working towards breaking Nigeria. It is a reality that the government has laid more emphasis on going after separatists than going after terrorists."

" If the government invested a fraction of the energy it spent going after self-determination separatists to fight terrorists, those of us in North East Nigeria would have been saved. Fighting banditry and terrorism are of higher priority to us than going after Nnamdi Kanu or Sunday Igboho."

Reno Omokri tackles Nigerians who are against Olympic medalist, Ese Brume's decision to drape her medal on Bishop Oyedepo

Reno Omokri has berated Nigerians who are against Olympic medalist, Brume Ese's decision drape her bronze medal on her pastor, Bishop David Oyedepo, when she returns to the country.

On Tuesday morning, August 3, Brume secured Nigeria's first medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games after she leaped 6.97 metres with her very first jump to claim bronze behind second-placed Brittany Reece of the United States and gold medallist Malaika Mihambo of Germany. After receiving the medal, she said she would be draping her medal on her pastor upon her arrival.

Her decision received mixed reactions with some people criticizing her.

Reacting to the criticism that has trailed Brume's decision, Omokri wrote

Quote:''Anthony Joshua draped his World Heavyweight Title belt on Buhari. You did not talk.

Ese Brume says she wants to drape hers on Bishop Oyedepo, your demons are agitating you. Between Oyedepo and Buhari, who has done more for Nigerian youths, education and sports?

Buhari that banned the Twitter that you are using to denounce Ese and Oyedepo? Oyedepo that fought against the #TwitterBan is now your headache?

You leave the man you elected to denounce the man you did not elect and then you wonder why your country is wandering without direction!''

Two suspected kidnappers have been shot dead while collecting ransom in Sabongida town in Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State.

It was gathered that the suspects had abducted an elderly man identified as Alhaji Gambo and demanded ransom from his family.

The suspected kidnappers simply identified as Sani and Musa had reportedly instructed the family of their victim to bring the ransom money to a location.

Vigilantes in the area were informed and they went to the location to lay an ambush for the criminals.

The kidnappers who were well armed arrived there, unknown to them that the vigilantes were around and two of the criminals were said to have been gunned down while picking the money.

The elderly man, who was brought to the scene, was rescued by the vigilante.

A source in the area also told Daily Trust that the late kidnappers had killed many people in Borno-Korokoro,Tella, Sabongida, Dananacha and other surrounding villages as well as along Jalingo–Wukari road, all in Taraba.

Suspected Fulani herdsmen attack Enugu community, hack pregnant woman, 7 others to death, destroy farmlands

Suspected Fulani herdsmen reportedly invaded the Mgbuji community in Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State, destroying farmlands, killing eight persons, while several others were injured and some kidnapped .

Some villagers told Daily Sun that the armed herdsmen invaded the community on Sunday afternoon, August 1, through the border they have with the Benue community and attacked several farm settlers and others caught in the farm.

A villager, Chinaza Akan, who witnessed the incident said one of the casualties was a pregnant woman who was killed by the armed herdsmen, her stomach opened and fetus removed, while some were wedding guests.

One of the victims has been identified as Ogbuabor Joseph Udoka, a 2017 graduate of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike, formerly Federal University of Agriculture, Umudike.

According to Chukwuma Sunday, Udoka met his untimely death on his way home from the farm settlement.

The villagers said the attacks have risen in recent times with massive casualties, and little or no effort has been made by the Police or the state government to end the attack.

Bishop of Anglican Diocese of Eha-Amufu, Rt Rev Daniel Nkemjika Olinya, who confirmed the development to Daily Sun, painted a horrible and gory picture of the inhumane actions of the suspected herdsmen.

He registered his concerns that herdsmen attacks in farm settlements in the affected Mgbuji community and its neighbours have been on the rise and the government has not done enough to end the attacks.

"This is the third time the armed herdsmen are invading the Mgbuji community this year, aside from indiscriminate kidnappings which we have lost count of. Most of the time, they invade the community, kidnap and kill the victims, many of them. The last attack before this Sunday’s attack led to the death of six people. Five of them have not been buried and, now they came again this time and killed eight persons,’ he said.

"Some people said the rising attacks in the recent time could be linked to the eviction notice given to the herdsmen and other conditions of operation that are, perhaps, unacceptable to the herdsmen.

"For instance, some of the people who were kidnapped and released recently by the armed herdsmen stated that the herdsmen insisted that they would continue their criminal actions until IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, drop his agitations for Biafra.’

Bishop Olinya further confirmed that the Police came on Monday, 24 hours after the attacks, with the intention of taking away the corpses, but the community members resisted them because they have not released other corpses in their custody for burial.

The community members said the Police asked that they sign undertaking before they could release the corpses to the family members for burial. But the undertaking, as gathered, was not favourable to the community, hence they withheld their signature.

He said that part of the undertaking was that they would allocate land to the Fulani people, accept and live together with them whenever they return to the community, and that was unacceptable to the community members. So, the corpses are still with the police.

He called on the Enugu government to take action on these armed herdsmen.

"Our people are living in fear and anxiety. They no longer go to their farms because these armed herdsmen have occupied locations where food are produced for local consumption and supply to the state.

"The Anglican Bishop said the state government is aware of what’s happening in the community contrary to the belief that they are unaware, but the government has deliberately refused to take strong actions against the activities of herdsmen.

"Unfortunately, the state government had chosen to shift their responsibilities to members of the Neighborhood Security Watch Outfit who are obviously ill-equipped to confront these armed herdsmen. Neither modern weapons, logistics, operational vehicles nor motivations were provided to enable them to respond to the attacks.

"These armed herdsmen rape and kill our women and men who go to the farm for one reason or another. The implication is that there might be a scarcity of food next year, and that could be disastrous and have a significant impact on the economy of Eha-Amufu and beyond. Imagine that a basin of garri that used to be sold at N2,500 has risen to N10,000 to N12,000. People, unarguably, are dying of hunger."

Meanwhile, one of the members of the neighbourhood watch in the community who pleaded anonymity also confirmed the development and accused the security agents, particularly the police of championing the interest of the armed herdsmen.

"Why would they take custody of the remains of the victims of the previous herdsmen attacks, insisting that the community must sign an undertaking which, obviously, was unrealistic and unfavourable to the community. Police insisted that the community must provide land for the herdsmen for habitation which is not possible. These herdsmen are wicked, deadly, and not people we can live with," he told Daily Sun.

Recall that the young woman was declared missing after she left for work at Okumagba Estate in Warri, on July 19, 2021, and never returned. Read previous report HERE

According to Punch , the parents were arrested on Sunday night, August 1, after the police operatives who had been monitoring the incident received intelligence reports that the parents had allegedly staged their daughter’s abduction.

Sources told the publication that the parents of Stephine who reside at Olomu Street in Warri were still being interrogated by the Police B-Division, Warri as of Monday evening.

One of the sources alleged that Stephine Solomon, a staff of a Bank, located at Okumagba Estate, Warri, Delta State had helped her parents to secure a loan of N17 million from the bank.

It was learnt that the couple borrowed the money from the bank for business development but failed to pay back the loan for a long period while the bank had been on their throat to return the loan, to no avail.

According to the report, it was gathered that the couple in an attempt to raise money to defray the loan had allegedly resorted to stage-managing their daughter’s kidnap.

Meanwhile, the alleged kidnap victim was yet to be released, according to the sources.

When contacted, spokesperson for Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe said he could not confirm the report yet.

Soldier allegedly stabs tailor in Ibadan for 'disrespecting him'

A soldier attached to the Letmauck Barracks, Audu Abubakar, has allegedly stabbed a tailor in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, for allegedly disrespecting him.

It was gathered that the incident happened when the tailor identified as Ali Abubakar visited a friend, Saheed, in Sabo area of Ibadan on Thursday, July 29.

His friend was not around so he waited for him in his shop.  The soldier's colleague was also waiting for Saheed.

According to Punch, when Audu later came to the shop, he inquired about the whereabouts of Saheed.

Ali said that he did not answer Audu because he thought he was talking to his colleague, who was also inside the shop.

However, the failure of Ali to answer infuriated Audu and led to an altercation between the two of them.

"I went to the shop to see my childhood friend, but he went to the mosque to pray, so I waited for him. I met a soldier in the shop, sat and started fiddling with my phone," Ali narrated.

“A few minutes later, Audu came and asked of Saheed; I thought he was talking to his colleague and I didn’t answer him; it was when I heard him barking: ‘Are you deaf’?’ that I looked up and he slapped me and started abusing me. I told him that if I was the one he was referring to as deaf, then he should not talk to me that way; Audu and his friend then started beating me.

"While they were beating me and tearing my clothes, I tried my best to leave there and went to the palace to report to the elders in the area, who pleaded with me to let the incident pass and change my clothes.

"About an hour after the incident, I went back to collect my phone from the person I gave it to when the soldiers were beating me. My friend had already come back and we were discussing and the next thing I saw was that Audu took a knife and stabbed me in my left hand.

"I escaped from there and he still chased after me with the knife. It was from where I escaped to that I was rushed to hospital and I have been there since. I was given two pints of blood in the hospital. I don’t have any sensation on three of my fingers right now.”

Ali said that the Commandant of the barracks had sent representatives to him at the hospital to find out what happened.

"Some representatives were sent to me in the hospital on Saturday and I told them what happened, but since then, I have not seen or heard from them. They said they were investigating. I want justice to be done because I respected the soldiers and I didn’t touch them and didn’t allow my people to touch them,” he added.

An officer in the Public Relations Department of the 2 Division, Lt Christopher Agu, who confirmed the incident, said investigation was ongoing.

“I just called the admin officer there and he said the matter is under investigation,” the officer stated.

DSS operatives allegedly assault journalist at Abuja court (photos)

Photos of DSS operatives allegedly assaulting a journalist at an Abuja court have been shared online.

The incident happened when the Department of State Services produced eight out of 12 aides of Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Igboho in court on Monday August 2.

Lawyer representing the 12 detained aides of Sunday Igboho, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has also condemned the alleged harassment of journalists at the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Olajengbesi in a statement titled, ‘SSS harassment of journalists in court premises’ said;

Quote: “I condemn in totality the brutal harassment of journalists and media personnel by operatives of the Department of State Service this morning at the Federal High Court, Abuja.

“Newsmen and reporters who had exercised their right to press to cover the trial of the abducted associates of Mr. Sunday Igboho were today intimidated, badgered and obstructed from carrying out their assignments in court by aggressive men of the DSS who went further to seize gadgets and other materials belonging to the newsmen.

“Their action stands strongly condemned and is in fact an assault on the hallowed chambers of the Federal High Court. The premises of the Federal High Court and indeed any court in the country is open to all Nigerians and professionals and it is simply not the property of the DSS over which they can exert such brutish control.

“By cordoning off the court’s premises from Press access and intimidating the newsmen in court away from the spectre of the trial, the DSS erred arrogantly and aggrieved the very sanctity of the courtroom.

“With regards to all items unlawfully and forcefully taken off journalists at gunpoint at the court’s premises today, the DSS have twenty-four (24) within which to produce all in their original working conditions or face immediate legal action. Refusal to do so amounts to ‘authority stealing’ if not armed robbery and this will be challenged and remedied with punitive consequences against the DSS.
“While such intimidation and oppressive technique against the Press and innocent participants in court have become the modus operandi of the court, it goes against the very spirit and letters of the Nigerian constitution and other relevant statutes on the matter. The DSS are cautioned to refrain from this classless and unlawful path as it negates their very own existence as a creation of the law.”

PDP Blasts Jega: You Contributed In Bringing This ‘Failed’ APC Government'
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 08-03-2021, 03:04 PM - No Replies

Quote:The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned a former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega not to infuriate Nigerians amid this alleged bad government they are facing under the APC.

PDP in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan warned Jega not to infuriate Nigerians by attempting to dry-clean the rudderless and inept of the All Progressives Congress (APC), despite the unbearable devastation the ruling party has brought to the nation in six years.

Jega had earlier warned Nigerians not to vote for the APC and PDP in 2023.
The PDP noted that comparing the incompetent and decadent APC to the highly productive and development-oriented PDP is an unpardonable disservice to Nigeria.

The Party reminded Prof Jega of the roles he played in bringing Buhari and his failed party into office, warning that Nigerians do not need a ‘manipulative tendency of any individual seeking political relevance ahead of 2023’.

The opposition party noted that Jega’s statement necessitates a call to question the sense of judgment of the professor.

Part of the statement read: “The PDP further holds as worrisome that Jega (Ex-INEC Chairman), who only recently and rightly so, described the ruling party and the Buhari administration as a failure, is now attempting an image laundering with such a warped comparison, just a few weeks after he was offered a juicy appointment as Chairman of Governing Council of University of Jos by President Buhari.

“It is so unfortunate that Prof. Jega, as a professor of political science, could portray an ignorance of the manifest contrasts between the robust fortunes of our nation under the PDP and the wasteland she has become under the APC.”

PDP reminded Jega of how it worked hard to revamp Nigeria’s economy by paying off huge foreign debts only for the APC to turn Nigeria into the world poverty capital and a debtor country in the space of six years.

The ruling party reminded Jega of how its party handed over naira to the APC at N160 to a dollar only for the APC to wreck our currency to a dismal N510 to a dollar.

“We invite Professor Jega to know how the PDP ran an all-inclusive and transparent administration that guaranteed freedom of speech, equity, fairness as well as free and fair elections, which he attested to; and how the APC, had been running a massively corrupt, insensitive, divisive and exclusionist administration that has destroyed our national cohesion and turned our country into a battlefield.

“As professor of political science, Prof. Jega ought to have known that while the PDP is an ideologically based political party, the APC is just a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) operated on the basis of deception and that is why it has failed in all ramifications and now fizzled in the eyes of the law,” the statement added.

Quote:The General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries in a new sermon at his church’s headquarters, said he has noticed that the fastest way for people to get traffic to their sites is by abusing Pastors.

Suleman however stated that a Pastor who can be brought down through the media, is not a true man of God.

According to him, he has given everyone permission to insult him, as long as they pay him.

He also said that those insulting him without paying him for it, can be dragged to court even if they are not in Nigeria by notifying embassies of their respective countries of the lawsuit.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL

TUESDAY, 3RD AUGUST ,2021.

PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME
THEME:

RIGHTEOUSNESS THROUGH THE GOSPEL

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith... (Romans 1:16-17).

Through the years, men have sought righteousness, but the righteousness of God is only revealed in the Gospel of Christ. Until one accepts the Gospel he or she will never know or receive the righteousness of God, and be able to live a righteous life.

This Righteousness is the rightness of God in the human spirit. It is the nature of God that gives the ability to stand in the presence of God without condemnation, guilt, fear or inferiority. It’s the ability to stand in fellowship and rightness with God.

There’s no other way to come into this extraordinary fellowship and oneness with the Lord except through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

This is why we can’t afford to be quiet about the Gospel. It’s the answer to man’s cry. There’s no other way for men to receive salvation, learn of and understand the righteousness of God, outside of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. So, preach the Gospel. Spread the good news of righteousness to everyone in your world, being absolutely convinced that it’s man’s only way to be made right with God.

Romans 10:9-10 says, “…if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” If you’ve never been born again, now is the time: Confess the Lordship of Jesus over your life, believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead.

Accordingly, the life and nature of God will be imparted to your spirit—with the ability to walk in, and manifest the righteousness of God. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for your righteousness that’s unveiled through the Gospel, and your grace to save, heal, deliver, uplift and prosper all those who embrace Christ’s saving power. As the message of salvation gets into men’s hearts today, faith is ignited in them to receive the gift of righteousness, as eternal life is imparted to their spirits, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER READING:

Romans 3:20-22 KJV “Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:”

Romans 4:1-5 KJV “What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.”

1 YEAR BIBLE READING PLAN:
Romans 7:7-25 & Psalms 64-67

2 YEAR BIBLE READING PLAN:
Luke 12:49-59 & Judges 9.

#TALKINGSESSION

Dear Father, You’re perfect and in You there’s no variableness, neither shadow of turning. I take charge of my life, growing my faith through the Word and strengthening it by use. I thus produce victories and triumphs in every situation and circumstance.

Your Spirit is at work in me mightily, causing me to be more effective in my works of righteousness! I am a tree of righteousness, producing other trees of righteousness.

I am empowered to do things beyond the ordinary, and I am accomplishing great feats by the Spirit, and through the power of Your Word, to the glory of the name of Jesus, Hallelujah.

The glorious Gospel of the blessed God has been committed to my trust, and I am diligent in making it known to those in my world, and in the regions beyond. My passion for the Gospel is constantly refueled and my enthusiasm, undying!

Through me, many are coming to the knowledge of Christ, and into their inheritance in Him. I walk in dominion over Satan, darkness, and the world.

I am seated together with Christ in glory, dominion, and power. My light shines ever so brightly, and I gloriously fulfil my destiny in Christ, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God bless you

Vigilante beaten to death after he accidentally killed outgoing community chairman in Delta

Body of the out-going President-General
A vigilante member was beaten to death after he accidentally shot dead the outgoing President-General of Ukpiovwin community in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr Fredrick Ighoshemusua.

The tragic incident happened during the swearing-in ceremony of new executive committee of the community on Thursday, July 29.

According to report, Ighoshemusua, 50, met his untimely death shortly after formally handing over the baton of leadership to his successor at the event held at the community’s secondary school.

While the deceased was taking a group photograph with the new executives, the vigilante member started shooting in the air in celebration. The pump-action gun was said to have stopped working at some point so he tried to fix it.

It was in the process of fixing the gun that it exploded in the direction of the outgoing President General’s chest, killing him on the spot.

                                                  The vigilante member

Angered by the sudden killing, the gathering reportedly descended on the gun-wielding vigilante member and clubbed him to death.

"Ighoshemusua tenure as President General of the community has expired and he has successfully handed over to his successor. While the celebration was on, the outgone PG left for his house. After some time, it was discovered that the man was no longer there and they sent for him to take part in a group photograph,” a community source narrated to journalists.

Confirming the incident, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Ari Muhammed Ali, told journalists that the vigilante member shot the community leader in error after making futile attempts to shoot into the air to add colour to the ceremony.

"It was in the process of taking the group photograph that the vigilante member started shooting in the air in celebration. At a point, as he was shooting, his pump-action gun did not respond," the CP stated.

"He brought the gun down and was trying to fix it when it exploded in the direction of the outgone President General’s chest and he died on the spot. When the vigilante man saw what happened, he quickly took a motorcycle and was headed to the police station to report the matter, but some angry youths gave him a hot chase and stopped him at the railway line. They brought him back to the community and beat him to death." he added.

Bemused Osinbajo Watched Helplessly As Buni Refused To Obey Directive - THISDAY
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Quote:How Malami, Buni Defied Osinbajo’s Directive to Stop APC Congresses

Worried by the narrow escape of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in retaining Ondo State and the broader implications of the pronouncement by the Supreme Court, particularly, as it relates to the position of the National Chairman of APC, Mai Mala Buni, President Muhammadu Buhari, had directed Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to take charge of the legal concerns and come up with a decision in the overall interest of the party.

Osinbajo, too, wasted no time in summoning a meeting of all the lawyers in the cabinet to deliberate on what to do as the congresses were just a day away, Saturday to be precise.

At the meeting, competent sources said, the consensus of opinions was that the party should pause the congresses slated for last Saturday before weighing other options. But only Malami objected, arguing that the exercise should go ahead, regardless.

After what allegedly turned out a heated debate, everyone at the meeting, THISDAY gathered, agreed that the first step to addressing the “elephant in the room” was to suspend the congresses, which unfortunately, held last weekend.

But Malami would have none of it. “He disagreed with the submissions of others and the president, and insisted that the congresses will go ahead.”

“The resolution reached was to suspend the congresses,” a source privy to the meeting stated.

Having reached the decision to pause the congress, Osinbajo decided to call Governor Buni on the resolution to suspend to congresses scheduled for Saturday.

But to his shock, Buni flatly rejected his directive, insisting like Malami that the congresses would go ahead as planned. Malami and Buni belong to the CPC tendency of the APC.

It was a bemused Osinbajo, who watched helplessly as Buni refused to obey his directive to suspend the congresses.

According to sources, Malami and Buni’s hesitance to discard experts’ opinions despite glaring danger might have been because some people identified as cabal in the presidency did not want to lose their current hold on the party especially, that they were believed to have had a choice presidential candidate in mind, of which a change in the course of the party could undo.

Ali Kachalla, the bandit who shot down air force jet wanted to capture pilot alive

Mastermind of the downing of the fighter jet of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) in July has been identified as Ali Kachalla and it has been alleged that he wanted to capture the pilot of the fighter jet alive.

Recall that Abayomi Dairo, a flight lieutenant and pilot of the jet, survived after he successfully ejected from the aircraft which was shot down near Kabaru village, located some 15 km west of Dansadau town in Zamfara state.

Daily Trust reported that Kachalla who is one of the bandit leaders operating in the north-west region of the country, is in his thirties and reportedly stepped up attacks on Dansadau town to protest the blocking of supplies to him from the town and the villagers’ help in the escape of the military pilot who he wanted to capture alive.

The bandit leader reportedly controls over 200 armed men in Kuyambana forest and is known to take special interest in ambushing military personnel. According to the publication, the armed men outnumber most of those in other gangs in the area.

A source in the area said;

Quote:“His settlement consisting of several strings of thatched huts is on Birnin Gwari side of the river. But, his large herd of cattle being manned by his heavily armed boys is based in Zamfara State.
“As I’m talking to you his boys can be found in Dandalla, Madada and Gobirawa Kwacha communities. The villages are all situated southeast of Dansadau town. They are all being controlled by the armed men.”

Kachalla and his men in one the attacks, reportedly set an armoured personnel carrier ablaze after chasing security forces deployed in the town.

A source said;

Quote:“Dansadau community has drawn the ire of Kachalla and his boys after local traders were blocked from selling food to him.
“There are some unscrupulous elements among the local traders who still take bread, soft drinks and other groceries to the bandits in the forest.”

The residents of the community recently protested against the business transactions and blocked every move by the traders to deal with the bandits.

Security operatives in collaboration with other residents have stepped up efforts to arrest suspected informants.

Jungle Justice: Emmanuel Christopher Almost Set Ablaze By Mob
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 08-02-2021, 02:34 PM - No Replies

ABUJA!
JUNGLE JUSTICE AND YOUNG MAN IN SEARCH FOR JOB
A CALL FOR JUSTICE FOR Emmanuel Christopher.

A graduate of Pure and Applied Chemistry from the Niger Delta University now residing in Abuja Nigeria, was almost beaten to death by the actions of a young Hausa man.

HOW IT STARTED

It was a sunny morning, on Tuesday 27th July 2021, Emmanuel Christopher took a cab from his residence and went straight to PEAK INTEGRATED WELLNESS CENTRE, MABUCHI DISTRICT, along GITTO, after ZEUS PARADISE HOTEL, where he was scheduled for a job interview.

After the job interview and being new in that particular area, he asked a lanky looking black guy, whose accent gave him away as Hausa, for directions. The guy pointed him towards where he'll board a vehicle. Emma crossed over to where he'll get a vehicle and was on call waiting for a cab to come along and the fraction of a millisecond too small. The lanky guy who had given him directions rushed towards him and started landing him blow after blow while screaming to the general public that the young man had taken his penis! Instantly the mob assembled, those with planks and those with stones, those with what ever type of weapon they could carry, they started hitting him, no one wanted to hear but he managed to scream as loud as his vocal cords could carry, "i did not do it, i only came for a job interview at that organization over there".

How it happened was a mystery and the next things he was the gate of the firm he had just left to seek for a job, even at that point he was still brutalized by aggrieved individuals. The management of the firm was called and asked to confirm if he had indeed been there for an interview. They confirmed, but even their confirmation was not enough, those who threw stones will still occasionally throw while the management queried them to stop, pleading with them to take him to a police station instead of the jungle justice they were meeting on him, but no one wanted to hear. They were already assembling their usual way of burning people by bringing put tire and everything they needed for the wickedness which they were already perpetrating. The boys father appeared from nowhere and asked them to set Emma free that he was innocent, even till that moment the people refused. At this point attention was then given to the boy, after Emma had been beaten and sustained serious and life threatening injuries.

He was asked how he knew he had lost his manhood, he was asked if Emma touched him. He said he felt something go inside of him and that Emma had not touched him, so they took him to a brothel to probably test run his manhood while those with planks, stones, tire and petrol guarded Emma waiting to put him to death. Few moments later, the boy appeared with the people that went with him, smiling as though nothing had happened.

Meanwhile the management of the organization had already informed the Police and just moments after the boy appeared, they were both handed to the Police. This incident occurred on Tuesday the 27th of July 2021 and the boy was released 28 July 2021.
We call on all relevant authorities to investigate this issue and allow the law to take its course. The life of every Nigerian is precious and no one has the right to pull such an expensive joke on another. If he had died, we would have lost a young graduate who did nothing wrong but waking up in the morning, taking his bath and went for a job interview.

This brings back memory of the Aluu four that were brutally murdered by villagers. Jungle justice is not just a crime, it is the hallmark of a society that has lost its moral compass. We call on all relevant authorities to investigate the issue at hand, bring the culprits to justice and compensate the young man for the ordeal he was meant to face that horrible Tuesday morning. He was not a thief, he was not a murderer, he was just a young man who had served his father's land and was looking for a job to survive. He did not deserve any of this.

The accuser goes by the name ismaila, and there are unconfirmed reports of him being released already from mabuchi police station.

We need justice for EMMANUEL CHRISTOPHER

Abba Kyari: No Difference Between Hushpuppi, Buhari, Tinubu – Reno Omokri
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 08-02-2021, 12:31 PM - No Replies

Quote:A former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has claimed that there was no difference between President Muhammadu Buhari; National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu and International fraudster, Hushpuppi.

Explaining further, Reno Omokri alleged that while Hushpuppi defrauded unsuspecting people and used the proceed to bride a deputy commissioner of police, Abba Kyari, the source of the billions of Naira Tinubu spent to enthrone Buhari in 2015 and 2019 is yet unknown.

Recall that the United States Department of Justice had said an ongoing investigation showed that Hushpuppi allegedly bribed Kyari to arrest one Kelly Chibuzo Vincent, one of his accomplices in Nigeria.

Reno Omokri provides more information about Abba Kyari’s involvement with Hushpuppi

Kyari was alleged to have been bribed to arrest one Vincent in Nigeria, who created bogus documents and arranged for the creation of a fake bank website and phone banking line to support the defrauding of a business person trying to provide $1.1m for.

Kyari had since denied the allegations but admitted acting as a go-between the fraudster and a local tailor in which Hushpuppi allegedly made payments.

The Inspector-General of Police has ordered the suspension of Abba Kyari to allow a thorough investigation into the matter.

And in a tweet on Sunday, Omokri said, “What is the difference between Abba Kyari and Buhari? Hushpuppi stole money and used it to bribe Kyari.

“Where did Bola Tinubu get the money he used to instal Buhari? Until we deal with the crooks at the top, we will continue to be the laughing stock of the world.”

Chinonso Uba's Ezeacho Hotel, House, Shops Burnt In Imo, 2 Feared Killed
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 08-02-2021, 12:29 PM - No Replies

Quote:Security agents operating in no fewer than 15 vehicles, including an Armoured Personnel Carrier, burnt down a hotel, a residential house and about 15 shops in Orlu, Imo State, on Sunday.

The incidents happened at Okporo and Obor communities carved out of Umutanze in the Orlu Local Government Area of the state.

Community sources told our correspondent that the security agents, who came for the operation, supervised the burning of the hotel before they left.

Our correspondent gathered that the Ezeacho Hotel is owned by a businessman, Chinonso Uba.

The hotel is located on the Okporo Mgbidi Road behind St Damian’s Hospital mortuary, Okporo.

Two persons were said to have lost their lives during the operation, while some guests were also arrested.

The hotelier’s country home in the Obor community was also burnt.

While the reason for the burning of the hotel, house and shops had not been ascertained as of press time, our correspondent gathered that the hotelier’s mother, Mrs Dorathy Uba, is a popular politician in the local government area.

A source in the area told our correspondent that the hotelier lived with his family in the hotel.

PUNCH Metro could not ascertain if the hotelier was among the persons arrested by the security agents.

A source, who witnessed the operation, said, “The hotel is on the Okporo-Mgbidi Road behind St Damian Hospital mortuary, Okporo. The owner of the hotel is Chinonso Uba. I know him very well. He lives with his family in the hotel. The hotel is a storey building.

“He (Chinonso) is from the Obor community. Obor was created from Umutanze. Two persons were killed in the hotel during the operation. Chinonso lives with family in the hotel. His mother is a popular politician in the area. Her name is Mrs Dorathy Uba. The security agents cordoned off the area and made sure that the hotel was completely burnt.

“The stern looking security agents also went to the hotelier’s village house at Obor community and set it ablaze. They also burnt no fewer than 15 shops, where caskets were being sold opposite the hospital.”

When contacted, the police spokesperson in the state, Michael Abattam, said he would get a feedback and revert to our correspondent, but he had yet to do so as of the time of filing this report.

But a police source confirmed the operation and said the command was committed to securing the state.

Why Kaduna Filed Fresh Terrorism Charge Against El-Zakyzaky, Wife - Falana
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 08-02-2021, 09:50 AM - No Replies

Quote:Human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria has alleged that the Kaduna State Government of filed fresh terrorism charges against the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenat, to frustrate their release from prison.

He made this known in a press statement titled, ‘New terrorism charge was hurriedly filed by Kaduna State Government to frustrate the release of Mallam Ibrahim El-Zakyzaky and Mallama Zeenat from prison custody’, on Sunday.

Kaduna State Government had filed fresh terrorism charges against El-Zakyzaky and his wife, days after he was acquitted of murder following almost six years in detention.

A court in Kaduna discharged El-Zakzaky and his wife on Wednesday because of a lack of evidence in a case involving the killing of a soldier in deadly clashes between their followers and troops in December 2015.

A court in 2016 earlier ordered the couple to be released, but the authorities ignored the ruling.

Falana said, “It has been reported in the media that the Kaduna State Government filed a new charge of terrorism and treasonable felony against Mallam Ibrahim Elzakzaky and his wife, Mallama Zeenat Elzakzaky after the dismissal of the 8-count charge of conspiracy and abetment of culpable homicide by the Kaduna State High Court.

“But contrary to such reports the new charge was hurriedly filed in the Federal High Court holden at Kaduna on Tuesday, 26th July in a desperate bid by the Kaduna State Government to frustrate the release of the defendants from further incarceration. In other words, the new charge was maliciously filed when the Kaduna State Government anticipated that the ruling fixed for July 28 in respect our no case submission would succeed.

“As soon as the new charge was filed the Bailiff of the Federal High Court was commanded to rush to the Kaduna Correctional Centre to serve same on the defendants. But the defendants refused to accept service of the charge and directed the Bailiff to serve it on them through their Counsel.

“But for reasons best known to the Kaduna State Government, the charge was not served on the defence counsel. However, on July 28 the trial judge, Honourable Justice Gideon Kurada refused to be intimidated by the forces of oppression as he displayed exceptional courage and judicial independence.

“His Lordship dismissed the eight-count charge on the ground that it was filed under a law enacted in 2017 by the Kaduna State Government for offences that were alleged to have been committed in 2015. Alternatively, the learned trial examined the oral testimony of the 15 witnesses called by the Prosecution, upheld the no-case submission of the defence and discharged the defendants.

“In apparent disregard of the epochal judgment of the Honourable Justice Gideon Kurada the Kaduna State Government seeks to subject the defendants to trial under the Terrorism Prevention Act enacted in 2011 for offences that were committed as far back as 2008.

“But since the Kaduna State Government is not sure that the defendants would be convicted for terrorism the Director of Public Prosecution, Mr. Bayero has announced that an appeal would be filed at the Court of Appeal against the Ruling of the Honourable Justice Gideon Kadura.

“No doubt, the new charge constitutes the worst abuse of the process of the Federal High Court. Once the case charge is served on the defence we shall not hesitate to file the necessary application for the immediate termination of the prosecutorial charade.

“In view of the foregoing, we wish to state, without any fear of contradiction, that the filing of the new charge of terrorism and treasonable felony by the Kaduna State Government has no effect whatsoever on the valid and subsisting order of the Honourable Justice Gideon Kudura for the unconditional release of the defendants from prison custody.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL

MONDAY, 2ND AUGUST 2021.

PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME

THEME: JUSTIFIED AND AT PEACE

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1).

The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ has brought you into a harmonious union with God; an inextricable oneness. Before Jesus came, we were estranged from the God-life; we were in enmity toward God: “And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight” (Colossians 1:21-22). Blessed be God!

Ephesians 2:13 (NIV) says, “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.” Following His substitutionary work, you’ve been justified, acquitted, declared righteous. So, God isn’t mad at you and doesn’t count your sins against you.

Read what He says in Romans 5:6-10: “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.” This is absolutely profound.

Don’t be afraid that one day God may remember all the wrong things you’ve done and punish you as a result. You’ve come home to Him; you’re at rest in Christ Jesus. Now you can relate to God as your loving, heavenly Father. Romans 5:2 says, by Him we have “… access by faith into this grace wherein we stand….” In Christ, we’re in God’s divine presence, at peace and in fellowship with the Father. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for bringing me into a life of peace and fellowship through Jesus Christ! Now I live in your presence forever, justified, holy and righteous before you in love. Thank you for an everlasting life of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Romans 5:15-17 JKV “But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)”

1 John 1:3 JKV “that which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.”

Cyber Fraud: Nigerian man, accomplice arrested in India for duping people in guise of providing jobs, sending gifts

Two men including a Nigerian national, have been arrested in India for duping people in the guise of providing jobs, matrimonials, and sending gift packages.

The accused, Obinna Fidelis Igboanugo, 27, who reside in New Delhi and Anil Kumar Pandey, a 36-year-old businessman, were arrested by the Cybercrime wing of Rachakonda Police.

The cybercrime team worked hard to nab the culprits and finally, by using advanced technologies, the duo were arrested from New Delhi and brought to Hyderabad on transit warrant.

Officials seized Rs.30,000, 65 debit cards, cheque books of 13 banks and 19 swiping machines from the accused while Rs 6.2 lakh (N3.4m) in Igboanugo's bank accounts was frozen.

The Commissioner of Police, Mahesh Bhagwat said  Obinna, who came to India on a visiting visa, learned from his Nigerian friends that he could earn easy money through Facebook by posing as an European with Indian citizens.

"For this, he downloaded pictures of European men and women from different Facebook accounts and created several fake FB accounts posting those pictures. He shared 10 per cent of the fraud money to Anil Kumar, who helped him in carrying out transactions,” said the commissioner.

Igboanugo destroyed the phone and SIM card soon after the victims transferred the money into his targeted accounts.

Police said he gathered bank account passbooks and debit cards, SIM cards from people with the help of some agents by paying them for each account on a regular basis without submitting any documents for making fraudulent calls and transactions. He thus procured more than 13 bank accounts with cheque books and debit cards.

Pandey, who is from Bihar, has been working at a hotel in New Delhi. He started a business of debit/credit cards/swiping machines during which he procured 13 bank accounts, 19 swiping machines and 65 debit cards.

The accused were booked under Sections 417,418,420 of IPC and Section 66 (C&D) of IT Act and sent to judicial custody.

I'm pained - Grieving widow narrates how her husband died in police custody in Bauchi seven months after their wedding

The wife of a 33-year-old shopkeeper allegedly died in police custody in Bauchi State, wants everyone involved in his death to be punished.

LIB had reported Dauda Danlami was allegedly tortured to death by the police on Thursday, July 8, 2021 after his arrest in Yelwa Kgadama, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis.

Speaking to Punch , Altine Danladi, 28, said she is pained over the death of her husband seven months after their wedding and demanded for justice.

"My husband and I woke up on the morning of Thursday, July 8, 2021 and he was hale and hearty. We had our morning devotion, after which I prepared breakfast. After that, we went into the bathroom and bathed together. Thereafter, we had breakfast together. Then, I dished food into a food flask for him to take to his shop, so he could eat later. I left him at home while I left for the private school where I teach. He, too, later left for his shop," she narrated.

"I usually close from work at 1.30pm, and after I closed for the day, I called to ask him if he wanted me to bring food for him at the shop, but he said he had some left from the one I dished for him in the morning.

"Before we parted ways in the morning, he gave me N2,000 to buy maize and grind, so we cook ‘swallow’. When I got back home, I went to his shop and still took food to him. I left him and went to the salon to wash my hair and did manicure and pedicure. From there, I went to a shop close to his and bought the maize but the money was not enough. When I told him, he pleaded with the seller to let us balance the payment the following day.

"When I got back home, I did some house chores and I started cooking dinner. While I was at it, one of my neighbour’s children ran to tell me that my husband had been arrested. I immediately left what I was doing, locked my door and rushed to the shop. My husband’s neighbour had gone into his shop and gathered all the handsets that he was charging before his arrest, so he gave them to me and I locked his shop.

"I called my mother-in-law and told her what had happened and she told me to be calm. I also called my sister-in-law. All his siblings kept calling me, saying I should be calm since it was the police that arrested him.  They said we would go to the station the following day to bail him.

"The following day, my mother-in-law and I went to the station but they told us that it was too early to visit. They told us to hang around till 10am. Some minutes to 10am, we went back and asked to see Dauda Danladi. They kept calling but Dauda didn’t come out; they told us that there was nobody with such name. When I insisted, they called again and a boy called Dauda came out but I told them he wasn’t

"While we were there getting confused, a policeman asked me to come inside and asked me if my husband was sick? But I told him that my husband was very well. Then he told me that my husband fell sick and had been taken to hospital. Later, a man in mufti came and asked us to enter another office and asked us to sit down. After we sat down, he then told me that my husband had died.

"I became confused and I started shouting and crying. My sister-in-law, who was outside, heard my voice and rushed in. When she learnt about what had happened, she fainted. After awhile, she was revived and started to scatter things in the office. She picked a stone and broke the glass window. They then started beating her like a criminal. The police claimed my husband died of asthma, but that is a lie, my husband wasn’t asthmatic.

"I cannot describe how I feel, really (crying) I didn’t….I never (crying) expected this…It is very early. Our marriage was just seven months and now …(crying). He said he opened that shop majorly to be able to meet my needs and to make me happy. His mother even got a piece of land for him to farm but he said he’d prefer to stay in the shop because it would pay him more. The women selling around him knows that anytime I went to his shop and had a need for money, I would just go in and take the amount I needed and went to buy whatever I needed. That was how we were living together in peace.

"I demand justice for my husband because he was healthy and was never wayward nor was he into drugs. He was at his business place, trying to provide for his family, and he never did any wrong.

"I want everyone involved in the death of my husband to be punished; they should face the wrath of that law because they took the life of an innocent man. They should be punished and they should be removed from the Police Force because they don’t deserve to be there."

Former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has described Nigeria as a “Zigzag Republic”.

The former lawmaker in a post on his official social media pages on Sunday blasted Nigerians for been tribalistic on their approaches to issues that bother on the entire country.

Senator Sani who spoke an adage revealed that Nigerians give special treatment to some individuals based on ethnicity.

According to Shehu, some Nigerians who rejoiced over the recent extradition of the embattled leader of the proscribed Indigenous of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, are not working to sabotage the extradition of the Nigerian Inspector General of Police’s Intelligence Response Team (IGP-IRT) Commander and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari.

Abba Kyari is currently embattled over his alleged link to a suspected internet and cybercrime fraudster, Ramon Abass, popularly known as Hushpuppi.

He may be extradited to the United States upon the conclusion of investigations concerning his involvement.

Recall that the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, had linked Kyari to Hushpuppi during an investigation.

DAILY POST reports that those who were angered by the extradition of Nnamdi Kanu from an undisclosed country recently, are now rejoicing over Kyari’s predicament.

Shehu Sani wrote, “You are happy Kanu is extradited but you don’t want Kyari extradited. You want Kyari extradited but you hated the extradition of Kanu. You want Igboho to be extradited but you are opposed to the extradition of Kyari.

“You don’t want Kanu extradited but you want Igboho extradited.

Quote:PRESS STATEMENT

The Media Office of Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki would like to confirm that this afternoon, on his own volition, Dr. Saraki visited the office of the EFCC to clarify any issue that the commission may have wanted to raise with him.

It will be recalled that following the order of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on the Fundamental Human Rights case filed by Dr. Saraki during the period of the former Chairman of the EFCC which precluded the commission from investigating him until the matter is dispensed with, the commission at the last hearing on July 14, 2021, pleaded with the judge that the order was preventing them from doing their job.

Following this complaint, Dr. Saraki, as a responsible citizen, on his own volition approached the commission that at the earliest convenient date, he was willing to visit the commission’s office and clarify all issues they might want to raise with him.

He, therefore, visited the commission’s office this afternoon and answered some questions. He is back home. He was not arrested. Dr. Saraki also assured the commission that he has nothing to hide and will always make himself available to clear all issues that may require his attention.

Signed:

Despite ₦2.3tn Health Budgets, Buhari Spends 201 Days On Foreign Medical Trips
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Quote:Aso Villa clinic gulps N6.2bn in six years, doctors knock FG
Six years and two months since his regime began on May 29, 2015, the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), has spent a total of 201 days on medical leave as of Sunday, based on information made public by the Presidency.

Despite Buhari’s preference for foreign medical care, the Federal Ministry of Health has consumed a total of N2.3tn from 2016 to date, while the State House Medical Centre has received N6.2bn, according to the respective appropriation acts available on the website of the Budget Office of the Federation.

The presidential clinic caters for the President, Vice President, their families and members of staff of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

In 2016, the Ministry of Health received N250bn, while the State House Medical Centre got N2.8bn In 2017, N304.1bn was allocated to the Ministry of Health and N331.7m to the State House Medical Centre.

The 2018 budget indicated that the ministry had N356.4bn, while the presidential clinic received N1bn. In 2019, N372.7bn went to the ministry and the Villa medical centre got N798.8bn.

In 2020, N414.4bn was budgeted for health as against N598.6m for the State House Medical Centre. The 2021 budget allocated N549.8bn to the Ministry of Health and N641.1m for the presidential clinic.

Additionally, the recently signed 2021 Supplementary Appropriation Act allocated to the ministry N83.5bn for National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, as well as N1.68bn for National Agency for the Control of AIDS.

Buhari left for the UK on June 6, 2016, for his first medical vacation, following reports that he had an ear infection. He returned on June 19, 2016.

On January 19, 2017, the President again travelled to the UK on medical leave and returned on March 10, 2017, after spending 51 days.

Barely 40 days after, Buhari travelled again to the UK for medical attention on May 8, 2017 and remained there till August 19, 2017, spending 104 consecutive days, a record which surpassed that of the late President Umaru Yar’Adua.

After attending the 72nd UN General Assembly, on September 21, 2017, he travelled from the US to the UK for medical purposes and returned to Abuja on September 25, 2017.

On May 8, 2018, four days after arriving in Nigeria, Buhari returned to the UK for medical reasons and he returned on May 11.

The President again travelled to London on a working leave on August 3, 2018 and returned on the 18th, spending a total of 16 days. His handlers said during interviews that “he may just see his doctors briefly during the visit.”

On April 25, 2019, Buhari arrived in the UK for a 10-day “private visit,” returning on May 5, 2018, though information was not given on the purpose of the trip.

Again, on November 2, 2019, he proceeded on a 15-day “private visit” to London, following bilateral talks in Saudi Arabia. He returned to the country on November 17.

In 2020, the President did not leave the country for a single medical trip, presumably due to travel restrictions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.

But on March 30, 2021, he resumed his medical visits with two-week trip to London.

On June 24, the President postponed another planned medical trip to the UK. He, however, departed the country for London on Monday to attend an education summit and have a check-up. He is expected to return in the second week of August.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, in an appearance on Channels Television last Monday, stated that his boss preferred to have his check-up in the United Kingdom as Nigerian doctors did not have his medical profile.

He said, “President Buhari has been with the same doctors and medical team for upward of 40 years,” he said when asked why the President couldn’t have been treated in Nigeria.

“It is advisable that he continues with that who knows his medical history and that is why he comes to London to see them. He has used the same medical team for over 40 years. Once you can afford it, then stay with the team that has your history.”

The Nigerian Medical Association and the National Association of Resident Doctors, in separate interviews with Sunday PUNCH, expressed displeasure at the neglect suffered by the health sector amid the President’s frequent medical trips.

The General Secretary of the NMA, Dr Philip Eke, credited the private sector for a majority of the development recorded in the health sector.

He said, “We could have committed more funds to make the health sector better. But unfortunately, it is even the private sector that is improving the health sector, not the public sector, because the government is not even buying equipment.

“It may seem as if the workers are paid relatively higher, but that money is nothing when the cost of food is very high. By and large, I don’t think there is much improvement in the health indices in the country as expected. The private sector has done a whole lot trying to improve the health sector.

“But one thing again is that the behaviour of the public office holders tells you that there has not been any improvement in the health sector because if they had improved the health sector, they would have the confidence to stay and get treated.”

Noting that there was not outright immorality in seeking medical care abroad, Eke argued that there were available professionals in the country. According to him, the neglect in the health sector had led to brain drain to Canada, UK and other developed countries.

The NMA general secretary said, “What is the illness that the President has that we don’t have the personnel or manpower in Nigeria to treat such that he has to travel out of the country? “That tells you that even if he does not trust the system and if the President does not trust the system, it means he is not leading by example and means other public office holders will also leave.

“I am not saying we should not seek health care outside the country, especially if it is something that is beyond our capacity. But even basic primary health care is not really working. Despite the fact that the basic health care provision fund was released — kudos to the government for that — we have not seen the effect in making sure that the states improve on health insurance.

“They only did that because they wanted to collect some of that money. It’s not functional, it’s just structural. We are still waiting as the Speaker of the House of Representatives is still pushing so that the President can give assent to the bill that will make national health insurance mandatory. Once that happens, there will be a lot of money in the health sector.”

The NARD President, Dr Uyilawa Okhuaihesuyi, also decried the lack of standard health infrastructure in the country, saying the blame should be laid at the feet of not only the President, but all elected officials.

According to him, the primary, secondary and tertiary levels of the health sector are plagued by poor planning on the part of researchers, members of the state houses of assembly, the House of Representatives, governors and commissioners, among others.

Okhuaihesuyi said, “We gave an ultimatum in May concerning our strike notice. We are currently in Umuahia (Abia State) to reappraise and reassess the MoU signed with the government. As it stands, I hope it’s not going to be a coincidence if NARD will be on strike.

“On infrastructure, you and I know that global best practices dictate that our healthcare systems must have a better budget. We should have (at least) a standard hospital in all the six (geopolitical) zones in the country. We should have the basic things that a hospital needs to function properly.

“But there is no hospital in Nigeria presently that I can say adopts global best practices. The ones that are close to adopting best practices are those owned by private individuals, not the government. If the government pays more attention to the health system in Nigeria, it would go a long way in ensuring that one can stay in one’s country and get the best health care any person deserves as a human being.”

President’s medical trips wasteful, says Okei-Odumakin

In the same vein, the President of Campaign for Democracy, Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin, in a text message, stated that the attraction to foreign health care demonstrated the failure of leadership.

She said, “There has been no improvement whatsoever in the health sector, based on a lack of commitment by successive administrations in the country.

“Sadly, the continued patronage of foreign hospitals by privileged Nigerians, including the President and his immediate family, has increased the lack of confidence in the sector, thereby increasing medical tourism and wastage of public funds on such adventures.”

I have no joy governing Katsina, we are having sleepless nights over inseurity - Governor Masari

Governor Aminu Masari has said that he has no joy governing Katsina state as the increased security in the North West state has been giving him and others sleepless nights.

Speaking during an interview with DW Hausa on Friday July 30, the Governor said the state has been plagued by security matters from sunset to dawn.

According to Masari, no sensible leader who has the feeling of his people at heart will be happy in such situation.

He said;

Quote:“In this difficult time and uncertainty, all the issue of governance has been dominated by security matters from sunset to dawn. I receive security reports at any moment through many channels daily.

“Governing in this difficult time I see no joy that people are saying we are enjoying.

“In this kind of situation we are having sleepless nights. You only have a few hours to sleep with your phone beneath your ears and whoever calls you at midnight won’t do that to greet you but to tell you a problem that is happening.

“People misunderstood us (governors) as people enjoying themselves. Some people are just assuming things and we must not assume what we think is right because if someone is not in the system, he cannot understand the situation.

“The irony of this life is that a governor is being escorted with screaming siren so is the criminal being taken to prison, the dead person in an ambulance and firefighters all use sirens. So what is the joy about the sirens?

“The paramount thing about governance is that once you are at the helm of affairs, always prepare to leave. You must not allow yourself to be carried away by the arrogance of power.”

Bola Tinubu is not dead or hospitalized - Aide says

The Special Adviser on Media to National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Tunde Rahman, has denied media reports claiming his principal is dead or hospitalized abroad.

There were reports online today July 31 claiming the former Lagos state governor is receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment in a hospital abroad.

In a statement released, Rahman dismissed the rumor saying Tinubu is hale and hearty.
The statement reads

Quote:“His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is fine. He is hale and hearty. He is not in any hospital. He has no medical problem that would require hospitalisation.
Yes, he is out of the country at the moment. He will be back shortly. Anytime he travels out of the country, the next thing some mischievous people would say is he is sick, hospitalized, or has died.
It is shameful that perpetrators of this evil are not deterred by the fact that each time this fake news has been propagated, they have been proven wrong.
Who really is afraid of Asiwaju Tinubu? Those wishing Asiwaju Tinubu evil or dead should be careful. They should know the matter of life and death is in the hand of only God Almighty.”

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONA

SUNDAY, AUGUST 1ST 2021

PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME

THEME: HIS STRENGTH FOR YOUR "WEAKNESS"

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

As you serve the Lord, you should know that He never allows you to burn out or wear out. He renews your strength. Isaiah 40:30-31 puts it beautifully; it says, “Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Hallelujah!

The Hebrew word translated “renew” above literally means “to bring back to life.” The picture is of an axed tree that’s expected to die but suddenly revives. It’s a kind of transformation where “death” is replaced with a new life; weakness is replaced with strength. One of its synonyms is “substitute” or “exchange.” Thus, your weakness is exchanged for His strength.

No wonder Paul said in Colossians 1:29, “Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.” So, it’s about His divine strength at work in you.

Also in 2 Corinthians 3:5-6 he said our competence (Greek: Hikanotes)—the ability with which we function as able ministers of the Gospel—is divine and not human: “Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament.”

This is God’s plan; He gives power and strength to the weak (Isaiah 40:29). With Him, you never run out of might and inspiration. It brings to mind the words of the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 4:16, “For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.”

As a labourer with the Lord, working for and together with Him, there’s a renewal of your strength. You’re constantly refreshed and rejuvenated by the Spirit of God to be afire, inspired and full of joy as you serve Him. Be conscious of this.

CONFESSION

Blessed be God! I’m constantly refreshed and rejuvenated by the Spirit of God; inspired and full of joy to serve the Lord. I’m strong in the grace of Jesus Christ, competent and ready for every good work. He is the strength of my life. Hallelujah!

#RHEMAFORTODAY

Say these with me, ‘I am a success forever; the life of God is at work in me. I live in health: 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. The life of God is at work in me; thus, I am strengthened in my inner man.

No disease or infirmity can thrive in my body, because my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit! I am living the good life prearranged for me before the foundation of the world.

I live in the victory, glory, dominion, and righteousness of Christ; for my spirit, soul, and body are under the dominion of the Word, and the influence of the Spirit!

I have an unction from the Holy One! That anointing is working in my body, finances, family, and all that concerns me. It sets me apart for greatness, causing me to spread and make progress on every side, to the glory of the Father. Irrespective of daunting challenges, persecutions, hardships, and troubles,

I remain steadfast, courageous, and bold in my commitment to the Gospel, and its spread around the world. The Spirit of God strengthens me in my inner man and my youth is renewed like the eagles.

I refuse to get old in my mind; rather, I open my heart and mind to fresh ideas from God’s Spirit.

Nothing can stop me, for I am daily vitalized and refreshed through the Word. When men are cast down, I am lifted, because of the lifting power of the Holy Spirit that’s at work in me! Nothing is impossible with me for I hail from above.

All the forces of life and nature are at my disposal, they work together for my good because I am the King’s kid. I am conscious of my heavenly heritage and walk in the light of who I am; an associate of the God-kind! Glory to God. Hallelujah!

God bless you

Tegina school abduction: Bandits insist on N3m motorbikes after collecting N55m ransom from parents

In another effort to secure the freedom of their children, parents of the 136 kidnapped pupils of Salihu Tanko Islamiyya School, Tegina, Niger State, who were abducted two months ago, are battling to raise close to N3million to meet the latest demand of the bandits.

The bandits have reportedly demanded six Honda motorcycles as a condition to set the children free.

Checks by DAILY POST revealed that each of the Honda motorcycles go for N490,000 in the market.

The children were abducted on May 30, 2021, in their school and have been held captive by the bandits until today, despite allegedly collecting about N55 million ransom from parents.

It was gathered that the parents had already contributed and sent about N55M to the bandits in ramson but they held onto the children and added the motorcycles as the latest demand from their families.

Initially, it was learnt that the families of the abductees and the school sold their landed properties to raise the first ransom of N25million but, instead of releasing the captives, the bandits placed another demand of N30million, which was also contributed and taken to their hideout in the forest.

But, they(bandits) again reneged on their promise over a shortfall of N4.5million on the ransom and demanded for the motorcycles.

Aan identified as Kassimu Daragana Tegina, accompanied by some mediators, was despatched to deliver the N30M ransom but was detained by the bandits due to the alleged shortfall and released on Monday.

Upon his release, Kassimu told the parents about the bad condition of the children, the alleged shortfall to the ransom and the bandits’ current demand for motorcycles.

However, the bandits appeared to have shifted their stance on the shortfall as it gathered that on Friday, they reportedly demanded only six motorcycles.

DAILY POST gathered that the parents, who were disturbed by the picture of the deplorable conditions of their children given to them by Kassimu are contributing money to enable them purchase the motorcycles for the bandits.

Efforts to get the head teacher of the school, Alhassan Garba Abubakar, were abortive as he could not be reached.
One of the parents who would not want their name mentioned said the families are disturbed by the continued stay of their children with the bandits as well as the demands they are making.
Lamenting, the parents said initially they gathered N25million which was delivered to the bandits at the designated location but, they later claimed that the ransom did not get them.

“The only thing we can do as usual is to keep praying for their safe return. We don’t understand what is happening, the Bandits keep making more and more demands. The first N25M we sent they claimed they didn’t receive.

We believe that the latest N30 million ransom we gave to Kassimu so days ago is complete and delivered to the Bandits. But instead of releasing our children they have continued to seek ways of collecting more money from the parents of children. When will all these demands end because our children are suffering in the hands of those wicked bandits,” one of them said.

Efforts to get the head teacher of the school, Alhassan Garba Abubakar, on current developments on the issue proved abortive as he could not be reached.

However, the Niger State Government, through the Secretary to the State Government, Ibrahim Matane, had remained adamant on its position of ruling out payment of ransom to bandits in securing the freedom of the abducted children in the state.

‘We know the location where they (pupils) are; we do not want to apply force. We are very careful of any situation; we do not want to hurt the children while resorting to military action. We are taking time to evaluate ongoing negotiations with the bandits in order to prevent collateral damage.,” the SSG told journalists.

Nigerian Soldiers Accused Of Destroying Ohafia Communities In Abia
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 07-31-2021, 05:41 PM - No Replies

Quote:IN June 2021, there were media reports about abuse of human rights, burning of homes, loss of properties and other atrocities allegedly carried out by Nigerian Army personnel in Ohafia, Abia state. The ICIR’s Olanrewaju Oyedeji visited Ohafia in Abia state to investigate the root cause of the crisis.

Background

OHAFIA is a town in Ohafia local government area (LGA) of Abia State, Southeast Nigeria that is home to the third-largest military base in the country, named Goodluck Jonathan Barracks, after a former Nigerian president. The military base houses the headquarters of the 14 Brigade and 145 Battalion office complex.

The town comprises twenty-six villages with population strength ranging between 800,000 and 916,000 as of 2014. The villages in Ohafia include: Elu, Ibina (Ihenta), Nde Okala, Nde Anyaorie, Amuma, Amaekpu, Ebem, Nde Amogu, Okagwe, Nde Uduma Ukwu, Oboro, Nde Nku, Nkwebi, Amuke, Asaga, Ndi Uduma Awoke, Amankwu, Nde Ibe, Nde Orieke, Okon-aku, Amangwu, Ufiele, Eziafor, Abia, Akanu, Isiugwu. Ancient Ohafia people were renowned as mighty warriors for their bravery and exploits in battles in pre-colonial Nigeria.

How the crisis starts

Since the averted massacre of the Ohafia people in a planned face-off with the Royal West African Frontier Force (RWAFF) around 1901, not much has been heard about the town, save for the pockets of crime, including kidnapping that led to the establishment of the 14 Brigade in February 2011.

In June, ten years after the establishment of the military base, Ohafia was attacked by soldiers in an alleged retaliation after an officer was injured by a bullet fired at him by some armed men suspected to be members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

It was gathered that the incident occurred at Ebem park (the biggest motor-park in Ohafia) while some men dressed in mufti but armed with Dane guns which they fired at each other in an open display of resistance to firearms. One of them shot at a military officer who had come to buy goods at the Ebem daily market without any provocation.

The officer was said to have escaped the scene with injuries, and later several soldiers arrived at the Ebem Park which is about three kilometres from their barracks, dislodged all workers and occupied the premises for two weeks as they demanded information about the men who had shot at their colleague.

An unofficial source said it took an order from the headquarters of the Nigerian Army before the soldiers vacated the park, as the Ohafia command reportedly noted that the area was outside their jurisdiction.

A resident who spoke under anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue stated that when the gunshots from the gunmen were first heard, they (the townsmen) presumed that the shots were from the nearby Army or Police barracks.

“Immediately we saw that they were men in mufti, we ran away,” the eyewitness told this reporter.

The crisis escalates

After vacating Ebem Park, the soldiers reportedly set up roadblocks and invaded some villages in Ohafia such as Amangwu, which shares a border with Ebonyi State and is surrounded by forests and bushes, with only a few motorable roads. Residents of Amangwu are predominantly farmers and traders, and the soldiers believed that they were providing refuge for the gunmen.

The ICIR learnt that military personnel stormed Amangwu on June 11 in seven Army Hilux vans, shooting sporadically and throwing firebombs into shops and houses. According to multiple sources, the soldiers stayed in the village for two days before leaving on June 13.

A commercial motorcycle rider from Okongo who came to the community to drop off a lady was reportedly killed by the soldiers during the sporadic shooting.

Two persons feared killed as flood cuts off Bauchi-Ningi-Kano road

 July 30, 2021

Two persons were on Friday feared dead after the car they were travelling in was washed away by flood at Malka village in Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

This is even as the chairman, Ningi LGA, Hon. Mahmuda Tabla, said no life was lost in the incident.

The flood, which left many travellers on the busy Ningi-Bauchi-Kano highway as well as villagers alike stranded, was as a result of several hours of heavy downpour between Thursday night and Friday morning.

DAILY POST learnt that the flood equally led to the collapse of the road, which links Bauchi with parts of Ningi LGA and also leads to Jigawa and Kano states respectively.

While the two persons were unlucky, it was gathered that other passengers in the car were rescued alive.

Many people trapped by the heavy rain were said to take to trekking after the floodwater receded following the extensive damage done to the road.
Eyewitnesses described the situation as very bad, noting that the flood led to the collapse of the bridge linking the road.

Speaking with journalists in a telephone chat, the Danburam of Ningi Emirate, Yusuf Yunusa Danyaya, while describing the incident as terrible, informed that the resultant flood prevented people from leaving and coming to Ningi, adding that parts of the road was washed away.

“Following the incident, people cannot travel to Bauchi from Ningi likewise people from Bauchi cannot travel to Ningi up to Kano State from here. The incident is terrible.

“After the bridge linking the roads broke, part of the road, about 30 meters, was washed away by the flood and a pit was created there. The road has been broken into two. It was a serious flood,” he said.

According to him, a Golf Volkswagen car was stuck inside the ditch created by the flood on the road, informing that the two passengers feared killed were women

“So far, there is a car inside, a Golf. There is no way it can be removed at the moment. Two women inside the Golf got drowned. The remaining people were rescued. One of them had been on top of the tree, it wasn’t long that he was rescued.

“There is a trailer that carried over 400 sheep and goats, but unfortunately, about 250 of them died in the incident. They usually partition the trailer into two, up and down and it was able to carry that number. One of the victims said he had 160 and all of them died.

“There is no way cars will drive past the place, travellers are just stranded. There are trailers, buses and small cars all stranded,” Danyaya said.

He, however, informed that security operatives from the Nigeria Police; Nigerian Army, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC); the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) were deployed in the scene to provide security as well as control traffic there.
Meanwhile, the Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Abubakar Suleiman, has sympathised with the families of the deceased, people of the affected area as well as the entire state over the unfortunate incident.

The speaker, who represents Ningi State Constituency, expressed his sympathy on Friday when he visited the scene for an assessment and described the incident as very unfortunate.

Suleiman promised the people that he would immediately inform the state governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, of the extent of damages caused by the unfortunate flood for the state government to urgently assist.
Reacting to the incident, the chairman, Ningi LGA, Hon. Mahmuda Tabla, said no life was lost in the incident, adding that over 20 houses in the area were submerged and destroyed.
According to him, all the passengers in the washed away car were successfully rescued by villagers, who rushed some of them to the hospital for treatment.
“There was a downpour from yesterday (Thursday) evening to the early hours of this (Friday) morning.

“Drivers were plying the road from last night till the early hours of today (Friday). But this morning, some came and while on that part of the road, they observed that if they proceed, the road will break and if they turn back, it will also break and that is why you saw the two vehicles in-between the two parts of the road that were cut-off.

“Another car was washed away and it fell off the road. The villagers were able to rescue the occupants of the vehicle and some of them were rushed to the hospital but nobody died in the incident,” the chairman told journalists.

Tabla, however, called on both the Bauchi State government and the Federal Government to immediately intervene with a view to fixing the road to enable people go about their normal businesses.

Nnamdi Kanu, Sunday Igboho: Baba-Ahmed blames Buhari for separatist agitations in Nigeria

Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the National Publicity Secretary of Northern Elders Forum (NEF), believes President Muhammadu Buhari is mostly responsible for the current separatist agitations in Nigeria by the likes of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Sunday Igboho, Yoruba Nation activist.

Baba-Ahmed said Buhari had failed to reach out and find a way to integrate Kanu and Igboho into the mainstream political system.

Kanu is currently in detention in the custody of the Department of State Security, DSS, while his trial continues on October 21.

Igboho, meanwhile, is presently in detention in the Republic of Benin after he was declared wanted by DSS.

“All these arguments we’re making about lack of inclusion, abusing our diversity, have their roots in the way in which this President runs his government. People don’t feel like they belong. And the same people who are saying they’re not part of Buhari’s government are now saying give us this presidency,” Baba-Ahmed told the Nation.

“Buhari, in his view, has failed to address issues that give a chance to irredentists, secessionists, adventurers and killers who ride on this idea that this part of the country doesn’t belong to Nigeria and he has failed to reach out and find a way to integrate them into the mainstream political system; that’s his job.

APC: I will get you imprisoned – Umahi threatens stakeholders over parallel congress

Ebonyi State Governor, Chief David Umahi has threatened to arrest any stakeholder that would conduct a parallel exercise, as his party, the All Progressive Congress, APC, holds ward congress today, Saturday.

Umahi equally vowed to send to prison any stakeholder that caused a crisis or breached peace in the state, especially during the APC Congresses.

The governor made this known while addressing party leaders/stakeholders of the state during the emergency APC meeting that took place at the ecumenical centre, Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi state.

DAILY POST gathered that the majority of party leaders of APC agreed on a consensus candidate, while others in seven LGAs of the state failed to agree and had allegedly resulted in a crisis.

It was gathered that party leaders in Ikwo, Ishielu, Ezza north, Ohaukwu, Ebonyi, Ohaozara and Ivo local government areas disagreed on consensus and called for the governor’s intervention.

According to the governor, “Mobilization even when there is consensus is very important, if the people were not satisfied with the mobilization we cancel it, because we want the world to know that this is the home of APC.

Kwara APC crisis: Parallel congresses imminent on Saturday
“If you have done your consensus and there is no mobilization to justify that, we will assume you did the election in your backyard, because we have the party register and let me warn that what you enter must not go beyond the party registration.

“Let me welcome the seven-man Congress committee to Ebonyi state, first is to comment on the issue of our contentious National chairman, I want you to listen to this very well, I’m not a lawyer but this Constitution of the party is meant for all of us, and if you went to school you will be able to read and understand. Because if the Constitution of the party is meant for the lawyers, it should have been on a limited number.

“The Constitution of APC states that where a vacancy exists in any organ of the party, that the National executive committee should set up a caretaker committee, and that is what the National committee is.

“Another section I just saw now in article 18 said, “where the national committee has set up a standing or ad-hoc committee(s) and has assumed jurisdiction on any issue, no organ of the party shall deliberate upon or set up a similar or parallel committee, which means that nobody conducts parallel Congress in Ebonyi state.

“If you see anybody conducting parallel Congress in Ebonyi state, my directive is that security agencies should arrest anybody that is there and Ebubeagu should also do the same.

“It’s one contravention of the law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and two contravention of the executive order because of Covid-19 and there is a law on gathering concerning this Covid-19.

“It’s important that we noted this very well, I have done everything as a leader to ensure everybody is carried along well, unfortunately we still have over two third (2/3) of the forms that are still awaiting people to purchase them.

“Some people who do not believe in my leadership have gone to Abuja to purchase their forms, no problem, but they must comport themselves with the 7-man committee. If they do anything outside that, there will be consequences for that.

“If you want to do parallel Congress you have to go to Enugu or Akwa Ibom or any other place to do it. Because there will be a fight if they try it and don’t say I did not warn you. The screening has to continue till late in the night, we want to ensure that everybody who wants to be screened should be screened,” he stated.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

 SATURDAY 31ST JULY.

KEEP SATAN IN CHECK

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils… (Mark 16:17).

One important truth every Christian must understand is that Satan and all his demons have been thoroughly, and completely dethroned and defeated by Jesus. So, no Christian should be afraid of Satan; he’s not a factor. Think about the fact that the very first thing Jesus said we could do in His Name is casting out devils; it shows just how much Satan has been paralysed.

Even if you only gave your life to Christ moments ago, you have authority over Satan and can cast out demons. That’s because being born again, you have the life of God and the righteousness of Christ; you have the authority of Jesus. Therefore, keeping Satan in check isn’t a question of how long you’ve been a Christian or how “spiritual” you think you are; it’s about Jesus and the authority He’s given you to walk and live in His Name.

Satan has no right to run things in your life, in your home, city, nation, or in the lives of your loved ones; cast him out! Exercise your authority in Christ over him. Cast him out any day, anytime and anywhere by using the Name of Jesus. When you address Satan in the Name of Jesus, he responds as though he’s hearing directly from Jesus.

You might ask, “What if the demon doesn’t go when I try to cast him out?” That’s not an option if you’re doing it in the Name of Jesus; when you have the consciousness of what that Name represents. Understand this: we walk in His Name, and walking in His Name is recognizing the power and authority of His Name; living with the consciousness of what His Name represents.
Philippians 2:9-10 says, “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth.” You couldn’t know this and be negotiating with demons; you cast them out! No devil can stand the Name of Jesus; they know what that Name represents because they are aware that in hell, Jesus spoiled principalities and powers and made a public spectacle of them (Colossians 2:15). Hallelujah!

CONFESSION

I was born a victor, and I live triumphantly over Satan and circumstances. I live a superior life, far above the world’s corrupting influences by the power of the greater One who lives in me. I walk in the light of my righteousness in Him, manifesting His dominion and unveiling His wisdom that’s in my spirit continually. Amen.

#TALKINGSESSION

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the visions of the great future that You have for me. My heart is flooded with light to see, comprehend, and apprehend my glorious destiny in Christ.

I follow the leading of the Holy Spirit as He unveils His plans and strategies to me in executing the ideas You give me for success in life and ministry. Thank You for leading me in the path of Your righteousness, wisdom, and glory.

I declare that I have the life of Christ and His calling on my life, therefore, I lead a life worthy of the calling with which I’ve been called. I have a holy and high calling; I am separated from the world unto Christ.

I live in a way that is befitting of someone God has chosen to be His. I am one in whom Christ dwells; thus, I refuse to permit sin, sickness, failure or the works of the evil one in my life. My life is for the glory of God.

The participation in and sharing of my faith produces and promotes full recognition, appreciation, understanding, and precise knowledge of every good thing that is in me in Christ Jesus.

I acknowledge the life of Christ in me and His call on my life. I am fit for what God has called me to be, and by His power, He fulfils every good purpose of mine and every act prompted by faith. By the power of the Holy Spirit, I fulfil my calling and walk in God’s prearranged path for my life.

I am guided in wisdom to walk in God’s perfect will, to walk in health, strength, victory, and prosperity, living the transcendent life in Christ, and fulfilling God’s good pleasure, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. Hallelujah!

A man was mauled seconds after he pulled a dangerous stunt by jumping on the back of a three-metre long shark.

32-year-old Aaron Moir, dubbed the "shark rider", is lucky to be alive following the attack but he is being probed over claims he taunted the beast by jumping on its back.

He was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital in Western Australia after the attack. He remains in a stable condition in Royal Perth Hospital after suffering significant but not life-threatening lower-body injuries.

The horror attack happened on Tuesday, July 27, while Moir was working as a skipper on a Montebello Island Safaris charter boat near Varanus Island off the coast of Western Australia.

Horrified witnesses told 7News that Moir jumped off the boat onto the back of the shark, which then brutally attacked him.

Indian Man Crushed To Death By An Elephant (Pix, Video)

Quote:NELLY’S REVENGE: THIS is the shocking moment a furious elephant crushed a man to death after a crowd of workers teased a herd passing through a tea plantation.

The animals were calmly crossing a road in north east India in search of food when a swarm of workers started taunting and chasing the elephants in a bid to scare them off.

Shocking video footage shows one of the elephants becoming enraged by the shouting and car horns before charging towards the screaming crowd.

After darting towards the tea garden workers, the huge Indian elephant made a beeline for a man who had stumbled by the roadside while trying to escape.

He was trampled to death before the elephant returned to the herd on the opposite side of the road in Letekujan, in the state of Assam.

The man, identified as Pascal Munda, was rushed to the Golaghat Civil Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Moments earlier, the locals were seen beating the ground with shoes and shirts and shouting in an attempt to move the herd from the road, Mail Online reports.

Cops investigating the incident are looking at whether the man provoked the elephant.

Vikas Kumar, a well-known elephant expert, said: "It is really sad to see workers and passersby teasing the gain animal.

"The wild tuskers are agitated only after they're being irritated and in this case, unfortunately, it had happened."

IPOB Vows To Lock Down South-east If Nnamdi Kanu Is Not Released By August 8
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 07-30-2021, 05:07 PM - No Replies

Quote:The proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) says it will commence a “weekly lockdown” of the south-east if Nnmadi Kanu, its leader, is not released from custody by August 8.

Kanu is facing charges bordering on treasonable felony brought against him by the federal government over his campaign for the Republic of Biafra.

He was released in April 2017 on health grounds but jumped bail after flouting some of the conditions given to him by the court.

Kanu was re-arraigned before Binta Nyako of the federal high court in Abuja on June 29 after being intercepted and extradited to Nigeria. His trial was adjourned till July 26 for a hearing.

On Monday, the trial was adjourned till October 21 owing to the failure of the federal government to produce him in court on Monday.

But in a statement issued on Thursday by Chika Edoziem, IPOB head of directorate, the lockdown will begin on August 9 if Kanu is not freed by August 8.

IPOB said the weekly lockdown is “simply one of the measures we shall put in place to ensure that our leader is released hale and hearty”.

“The directorate of state of the Indigenous People of Biafra is very much aware aware of the strategy of the Fulani Government of Nigeria to subject the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to Media Trial and to convict him in the public before giving that public conviction an official stamp of the compromised Nigerian Judicial system,” the statement reads.

“The global community knows that Self Determination is not a crime, the Nigerian government knows equally that Self Determination does not constitute any know offence stipulated in their constitution and therefore do not have any case against the leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra (POB).

“In recognition of the above fact and truth, the Directorate of State of IPOB, demands herewith an unconditional and immediate release of our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu on or before the 8th day of August 2021, failing which we shall commence a weekly LOCKDOWN OF BIAFRA land starting from 9th August, 2021.

“For the avoidance of doubt this total lockdown of Biafra land will take place every Monday until our leader is released unconditionally.

“To all the governors in Biafraland and to all those who are complicit in the abduction of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra from Kenya to Nigeria, those of you who contributed money for the Fulani government of Nigeria to enable them kidnap our leader, pray fervently that his health is not endangered and nothing untoward happens to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu because then the land of Biafra shall not accommodate you and the Biafran people.

“We affirm our readiness to do all that is necessary to secure the immediate release of our leader. It is completely unacceptable to the Indigenous People of Biafra to allow our leader to remain in the hands of the enemy up to October 2021.”

Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky

Less than 48 hours after he was discharged and acquitted by a High Court of charges of culpable homicide, the Kaduna State Government has filed fresh charges against leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.

The fresh charges border on terrorism and treasonable felony against the State and Federal Government.

Justice Gideon Kurada on Wednesday discharged El-zakzaky and his wife Zeenat, from the eight charges pressed against them by the State Government for lack of merit.

However, not satisfied with the ruling, the State Government on Thursday filed fresh seven charges against the IMN leader at the Federal High Court.

Kaduna Director of Public Prosecution, Daris Bayero, said with the fresh charges, the court will consequently issue an order for arrest of Elzakzaky to answer the charges.

He further explained some of the actions of the IMN leader upon which he is being charged with fresh allegations, dated back before 2015.

Quote:The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Thursday says it will start immediate refund of capital deposit to Bureaux de Change (BDC) promoters with pending applications.

According to a circular signed by Ibrahim Tukur for the Director, Financial Policy and Regulation Department of the apex bank, this is in furtherance of the decision to discontinue allocation of Foreign Exchange (FX) to BDC operators.

Tukur urged eligible promoters of BDCs to forward their application for refund in writing to the Director, Financial
Policy and Regulation Department of the CBN.

“The requests should be accompanied with the following documents: “Telex copy of the capital deposit of N35 million; account details for the refund, which should be the same as the account from which the capital deposit originated, including the Bank name, account name and account number.

“Copy of the bank draft/telex for payment of licensing fee of NI million (if any),” he said.

He advised eligible applicants to submit hardcopies of their requests to CBN Head Office, Central in Abuja or the Annex in Lagos, while urging commercial banks to stop processing payments for their customers.

“Softcopy of the request in above may be sent in advance of the hard copy to fprdlicensinq@cbn.gov.ng.

“In addition, all Deposit Money Banks are hereby directed to henceforth stop accepting instructions from customers to transfer capital deposit of N35 million to the designated CBN account for the purpose of applying for BDC licences,” he said.
