The delay by President Buhari to transmit an Executive Bill on the agreed N30k minimum wage will play a big role in workers' voting pattern in 2019 general election, the NLC has said.[Image: NLC.jpg]

The National Minimum Wage will determine the voting pattern by Nigerian workers in the 2019 general elections, the Nigeria Labour Congress has said.

General Secretary, Dr Peter Ozo-Eson, spoke in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Abuja.

Ozo-Eson said that this was due to the delay by President Muhammadu Buhari to transmit an Executive Bill on the agreed N30, 000 National Minimum Wage to the National Assembly to kick-start its implementation.

“I want to say that if this is not addressed now, the minimum wage issue will become the major determinant of the 2019 General Elections.

“I think the government must ensure that it quickly takes this matter up on the table so that it does not get mixed up with the forthcoming general elections in the country,’’  he said.

Ozo-Eson said that it was already more than a month since the Ama Pepple-led Tripartite Committee submitted its recommendation of N30, 000 report to the president.

“We are already more than three weeks gone, since the submission of that recommendation of the tripartite committee to Mr President.

“Mr President had promised at the occasion that he will act quickly on it. We are disturbed that up till now he has not sent the bill to the National Assembly.

“Therefore, our advice to workers is that those in government who have shown no interest in the welfare of workers, or have unleashed terror on workers, should be voted out.

“We urge our members to use their voting powers to vote such people out,” he said.

An apprentice has brutally killed and beheaded his master's 14-year-old son in order to raise money for his child's naming ceremony.[Image: Ayodeji.jpg]
An 18-year-old man, Ayodeji Obadimeji, has reportedly beheaded the 14-year-old son of his neighbour ironically to raise money to celebrate the naming of his new born baby, NewTelegraph has reported.

It was gathered that the sad incidnt occurred at Shapati town in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos State. The deceased, Joseph Makinde, was beheaded on Tuesday night.

His father, Mr. Kayode Makinde, is a wielder in whose shop Ayo works as an apprentice. The suspected killer is said to be a close friend of Joseph’s elder brother.

Ayo was alleged to be desperately in need of money for the naming ceremony of his new child slated for today.

According to Kayode, on Tuesday, one of his friends, identified as Femi, sent Joseph to withdraw some money from a nearby POS terminal.

He said: “On Tuesday, about 8.30p.m., Joseph was doing his homework when my friend, Femi, called and sent him to go and get money for him at Point of Sales Terminal (POS) in the community. It was just a few poles away from my house.”

Kayode and Femi became worried when after 30 minutes, Joseph was yet to return.

“I began to look for Joseph. He doesn’t usually stay outside late. My friend and I continued the search, until we ran into a police patrol team. But we never knew that the police had an encounter with two young men who they caught with a human head that same night,” the distraught father said.

Kayode added that one of the policemen asked them what they were searching for, but he replied that his son went to collect money from POS and had not yet returned.

He said: “The policemen told me to go and sleep but I told them I couldn’t sleep because I was looking for my son. They said I should follow them.”

Kayode and the police team got to the police post at Shapati junction on Epe Expressway, the leader of the patrol team asked them for the age of the boy and he replied 14 years old.

Kayode added: “The leader of the team informed us that the police ran into some boys. He gave a number to call; it was that of the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Elemoro Police Division, Bogije, Ibeju-Lekki. The DPO told me that the patrol team came from outside the station. When they arrived, they brought the dead body of my child saying it was unfortunate that the boy was dead. Police said they caught the boys yesterday and they confessed that they took my son to an uncompleted building and beheaded him.”

Following a police raid yesterday, Joseph’s body was recovered from the uncompleted building while Kayode’s friend, Femi, had been also arrested for interrogation as a prime suspect.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Chike Oti, confirmed the incident. The PPRO said Ayo carried out the murder in conjunction with his elder brother.

He said: “On 27th day of November, 2018 about 5.30p.m., a team of Anti-Kidnapping personnel of the Lagos State Police Command, on routine patrol between Ajah/Epe Expressway, apprehended two brothers, namely Ayodeji Obadimeji, aged 18 years and Saheed Obadimeji, aged 19 years of Tunde Balogun Street, Shapati, Ibeju-Lekki, in possession of a fresh human head.
“On interrogation, they confessed that Sodiq Abefe contracted them to provide him with a human head at the cost of N200,000, hence they lured the victim by sending him to buy Coca-Cola drinks for them and when he brought the drinks to them, they held him and cut off his head with a knife.”

Although Kayode told our correspondent that Joseph was 14, Oti gave his age as 10 years.

The PPRO added that the torso had been recovered from an uncompleted building located at Shapati and effort was being made to arrest Abefe who allegedly contracted the siblings to commit the heinous crime.

Oti said the Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, had directed that the case be handed over to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.

He said: “The CP Lagos reiterated his earlier warnings to criminals to repent or relocate from the state or regret the consequence of their action.”

I'm Dangerously Wealthy, Receives Booty From No Govt - Oyedepo Boasts

Dr. David Oyedepo has boasted of God's blessings on his life and that he has a clear conscience[Image: bishhh.JPG]
Dr. David Oyedepo

The Presiding Bishop, Living Faith Church Worldwide, aka Winners’ Chapel, Dr. David Oyedepo has said that he has never received or shared any booty from any government in Nigeria.

He boasted of God’s blessings on his life and that he has a clear conscience. “I don’t share any booty from any government. I have a clear conscience; I am dangerously wealthy. I am rich, whatever I want, comes. That’s what they call wealth,” the Bishop said.

Oyedepo stated this at the opening session of Shiloh 2018, the annual gathering of the members of the Living Faith Church tagged “Dominion” at its International Headquarters, Canaan Land, Ota in Ogun State.

The Bishop warned those he called ‘political gladiators’ to understand that authority is now domiciled in the church, saying, “If the church says you are going nowhere, there is nothing you can do.”

Speaking on “Heralding the Dominion Era of the Church,” he declared that the authority that enthroned the church was from heaven and not man-made. “It is not something that we organise; it is by the hand of God. You can be upset, it won’t change anything,” he added.

He told the congregation, which included 4,512 delegates from 43 nations of the world that God would be confirming in these last days that heavens rules in the affairs of men.  “If the church comes against any arrogant, puffing fellows, they shall be messed up,” he affirmed.

Oyedepo noted that for anyone to dominate his world, he has to first dominate the issues of his life. “Until one is rescued, he cannot rescue others. We must remove the beam in our eyes before we can remove the mote in other people’s eyes,” he urged.

The event, which will end with a thanksgiving service on Sunday, December 9, 2018, is the 20th edition of the annual programme that features prayers, special ministrations, instant testimonies and encounter nights.

Okorocha To Oshiomhole: 'Learn How To Talk'
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 12-06-2018, 12:58 PM - No Replies

The Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha has said the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole needs to learn how to talk in a way that will dignify the party.

Okorocha said this while lambasting the APC Chairman over his comments against some leaders of the ruling party.

Recall that Oshiomhole had on Wednesday described some state governors on the party’s platform as poor students of history.

Oshiomhole had spoken after receiving the APC women leaders from Edo State and Abuja, who paid him a solidarity visit in his office in Aso Drive, Abuja.

In a swift response, Okorocha said the former Edo State Governor should apply caution in the way he speaks about the party leaders.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, the governor urged Oshiomhole to learn from President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said, “We have not read Oshiomhole’s statement but I don’t think any National Chairman of a party can say such a thing. He should be advised on how he speaks. He can’t be attacking the leaders of the party.

“Take it from me, a party does not exist in a vacuum. There must be people to run the party. President Muhammadu Buhari has a high pedigree which Nigerians are happy of and Oshiomhole should learn from Mr. President.

“We have not read it anywhere but we insist that it is not the best way to treat members of the party. Oshiomhole should learn to talk in a way that brings dignity to APC”.

Morning Devotional For Thursday 6th December
User Avatar Forum: Daily Devotions

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

THURSDAY, 6TH DECEMBER.

BEING BORN AGAIN.

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3).

In our previous study, we learnt that the Christian isn’t a natural man. The natural man is subject to defeat, failure, poverty, and the uncertainties of life; he’s governed by the rudiments of this present evil world, and without hope in life. Ephesians 2:12 describes his life as an utter tragedy, because he lives in this world without hope and without God; a terrible state to be in.

If the foregoing describes you or someone you know, that can change even now. Yes, you may have lived as a natural man, subject to the depravities and corrupting influences of this natural world, but you can start a new life today, by being born again. Jesus said except a man is born again, he can’t escape the destruction and perils in this world.

Why should anyone remain a natural man, and be buffeted by the storms and harsh gusts of life? Only the one who’s born again is separated from darkness, evil, and from perishing. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish….” The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus disconnected you from the domain of Satan, and this world of darkness and turmoil, and transferred you into Christ; into the glorious liberty of the sons of God.

The negative forces of this world can’t prevail against you. Failure, sickness, poverty, and everything negative aren’t a part of your life when you’re born again! You live in the victory of Christ every day, such that at the end of life on earth, you’ll stand before Him in glory. But that can’t happen if you’re not born again; if you remain a natural man.
The natural man can’t receive the things of the Spirit of God. But when you receive Christ into your heart, and get to know the Holy Spirit, He’ll unveil the heart of the Father to you.

If you’ve never been born again, this is your moment: turn to the Prayer of Salvation page at the back of this devotional, pray the prayer, and mean the words with all your heart.

PRAYER

Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for my beautiful life in Christ. I’m growing by the day, in the knowledge of Christ, and of my inheritance in Him, unto maturity, ready for your divine use, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

2 Peter 3:9-10 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Titus 2:11-14 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Year-end rally lifts NSE indices by N129 billion
Thursday, December 06, 2018  BUSINESS

There has been an unprecedented rally on the equity sector of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), as indices appreciated by N129 billion in two trading days.

This followed sustained bargain hunting and portfolio repositioning for year-end, and possibilities that the development would form market performance ahead of Santa Claus rally.

This is coming on the heels of several months of downturn, persistent sell pressures and volatility witnessed in the market, occasioned by the lingering political uncertainties surrounding Nigeria’s 2019 general election.

Analysts have argued that the prospects of the market rebounding pre, or post 2019 election is high, with number of companies hitting new 52-week low on the increased, reflecting undervalue state of the market.

Also inclusive is the recent over-subscription of the nation’s $2.5billion Eurobond, which is enhancing recently the gradual but steady upward movement in the nation’s external reserves.

For instance, at the close of transactions on Tuesday, investors’ renewed interest in some blue chip stocks, especially in the banking subsector reversed previous day’s loss, gaining 0.7 per cent

Specifically, at the close of transactions yesterday, the All-share index (ASI) gained 208.49 absolute points, representing a growth of 0.68 per cent to close at 31,007.25 points.

Similarly, market capitalisation rose by N76 billion to close at N11.320 trillion.

The improved performance was occasioned by gains recorded in medium and large capitalised stocks, amongst which are; Guaranty Trust Bank, United Bank for Africa (UBA), Stanbic IBTC Holdings, Zenith Bank and FBN Holdings.

Yesterday, the equity market posted 0.47 per cent gain, yesterday extending positive sentiment to two consecutive trading days on buying interest in high-capitalised stocks especially in Dangote Cement shares.

The All Share Index (ASI) was up by 144.43 absolute points, representing an increase of 0.47 per cent, to close at 31,151.68 points.

Similarly, market capitalisation increased by N53 billion to close at N11.373 trillion.

The upturn was impacted by gains recorded in large and medium capitalised stocks, amongst which are, Dangote Cement, Stanbic IBTC Holdings, Flour Mills Nigeria, PZ Cussons Nigeria and Oando.
Analysts at Afrinvest Limited said the local bourse extended its bullish run into the second consecutive day largely due to bargain hunting in Dangote Cement.

Also, weakening investors sentiment in yesterday’s session shows buying momentum is tapering, thus we anticipate a negative performance subsequent trading sessions.

Recent report from Bank of America showed those investors’ funds to emerging markets increased from five per cent in October 2018 to 13 per cent by November.

The Chief Research Officer of Investdata Consulting, Ambrose Omodion urged investors to take advantage of the prolonged pullback in prices to position in some sectors for short, medium- and long-term gains.

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), will support the establishment of at least two more modular refineries in Nigeria.

It is also planning to participate in the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) value chain if the conditions precedent, are in place, as well as drive the infrastructural development of the industrial parks, and finalise the review of Offshore Rig Acquisition Strategy.

The Executive Secretary, NCDMB, Simbi Wabote, said this at the 8th Practical Nigerian Content forum in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital yesterday.

He said in 2019, the 10-year Research & Development roadmap will be launched for implementation.
He added: “We promised to put in place third party monitors to enhance compliance monitoring in the upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors of the industry. I am happy to report that after a very thorough tendering and selection process, we have kicked off the programme tailored along Sections 64 and 65 of the NOGICD Act. We also commenced the forensic audit of remittances to establish compliance with the provision on Nigerian Content Development Fund.”

According to him, Nigeria has continued to serve as resource country for the development of Africa Local Content Policy.

He added: “In 2019, we plan to validate and prioritise opportunity sectors for local content development. Regional marketing of some of the infrastructures is being developed such as the FPSO Integration facility will be further pursued.

“We will also ensure the posting of the 20 trained marine personnel for one year international sea time in fulfilment of the requirement for the Certificate of Competency.”

Speaking on the achievements of the NCDMB, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, said also commendable are the Board’s efforts to participate in the gas value chain.

“I am aware of ongoing discussions to support the establishment of LPG gas manufacturing plants and LPG depots. I believe the Board will also be a key player in the flares to value scheme being put in place as part of our gas policy. On our part, we have rolled up our sleeves to put in place and implement frameworks that are beginning to deliver the type of outcomes we desire in our industry,” Kachikwu said.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan, Kachikwu said the country has managed to stabilise our business environment and stem the tide of decline.

Photos: Police Arrest 4 People For Producing Fake Dettol In Lagos State

Four people identified as Francis Ume, 32; Chidubem Achezie, 44; Peter Ume, 44; and Ejike Jacob, 41, have been arrested by the Lagos Police for allegedly producing fake Dettol disinfectant and Air Wick air freshener in the Okokomaiko area of the state, Punch Metro reports.
The state Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, told journalists on Wednesday that the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Okokomaiko Police Station, CSP Aliyu Lukman, acting on a tip-off, mobilised his operatives to the suspects’ operational base and arrested them.
[Image: 8271761_policearrest4peopleforproducingf...c16712489d]
He added that the operatives also impounded a truck loaded with cartons of the fake Dettol and air freshener valued at N7m.

Imohimi said,

“Does this look like the original Dettol? But this can easily confuse anybody in the market. These are fake products and I am sure that the company that manufactures Dettol and Air Wick will be interested in this because their products are being faked.

“The Divisional Police Officer in charge of Okomaiko Police Station, CSP Aliyu Lukman, following a tip-off, which turned out to be credible intelligence, was able to monitor the activities of these four suspects and in the process, discovered that they had rented an apartment where they were manufacturing these products. After manufacture, they bottled them and pushed them into the market as original.

“So, you can imagine when mothers are using this type of fake Dettol to bathe their children or use it for medicinal purposes and it’s not working. People will begin to question the original company manufacturing Dettol that they are reducing the efficacy of the product.

“We have impounded a lorry load of the fake items estimated at N7m. I urge everybody to be vigilant when they go to the market. And that is why most of the manufacturers of products usually tell members of the public to look out for certain trademarks or NAFDAC approval when they buy their products.”

The CP added that investigation was ongoing and that the suspects were still being interrogated with a view to discovering their other outlets and accomplices so that they could be shut down andthe other suspects would be arrested.

2 Nigerian Man Narrates What Happened After Being Attacked By Kidnappers In Imo
Thursday, December 06, 2018  NEW

                           [Image: 8270821_capture2_jpeg72528766582dfff47d3117d82567eba3]
A Nigerian journalist and activist, Agba Jalingo and his friend, Jonathan Ugbal escaped being kidnapped today by unknown gunmen while travelling from Calabar, Cross River to Lagos state.

It was gathered that the attack took place when they reached Amadik community in Arondinzogu, Imo state as three gunmen flashed their guns and ordered therm to stop.

Read the full story below;

Our encounter with kidnappers/robbers.

I woke up this morning in Calabar to find out that flight ticket to Lagos from Calabar was 68k. I was angry with AirPeace and decided to put one of our cars on the road and hit Lagos. I called Jonathan Ugbal to come drive. We had a smooth journey until we got to Imo state and things changed.

Location: Amadik community, Arondinzogu

About 3pm. A Toyota Highlander SUV that was speeding after us appeared by the passenger side and there were three guys inside. Two flashed AK47 rifles at us and commanded us to stop or they shoot.

Jonathan Ugbal was driving. I encouraged him not to stop. Don't stop! I screamed. Reverse and let's run. Jonathan reversed successfully and we zoomed. And the worst happened.

Fulani herdsmen were carrying their herd around and the cows strayed into the express. I told Jonathan to run into them. He did. One cow died and one of our front tire busted. The impact of the car hitting the cows also forced the bonnet of the car open and blocked the windscreen and we couldn't see our way again, with one front tire down, the vehicle lost control and began to swerve.

The bandits kept shooting at our vehicle from behind and the bullets pierced several holes behind the car but we both lowered our heads and kept pushing. The straying cows became a blessing. The cows stopped the bandits' vehicle from the pursuit while our car was still swerving until it hit a tree and got damaged.

We both jumped down and ran into a very thick forest. The bandits came down, ran after us on foot kept firing indiscriminately while we were in the forest. We spent over an hour in the forest and came out.

The man through whose compound we ran into the bush showed us where his ceiling was riddled with bullets and how the bandits forcibly broke all his room doors asking him to bring us out so they can take us away but couldn't find us. They also shot two cows dead possibly for blocking their pursuit.

They also ransacked our car and stole our laptops, bag of clothes, Jonathan's phone and other things. When we emerged, the Fulani herdsmen now started round two. They insisted we must pay for their dead cows.

A good Samaritan took us into hiding in his house after we managed to stealthily remove my phone which had fell into my shoe. (I managed to find my own phone because it fell into my shoe which I had removed while we were driving. The phone miraculously fell into my shoe and the bandits didn't see it.)

I then put a call across to the Cross River state Police Commissioner, CP Hafiz Inuwa, who promptly called the Imo CP. Some cops from federal SARS were sent down.

When they arrived we emerged from hiding and the police rescued us from the herdsmen and took us to Okigwe SARS office. Another team was also sent to go tow our car and the car is now safely parked at the SARS office in Okigwe.

While in SARS office, the commander got a call that the same three man gang driving the same car had kidnapped one Eze and killed another man who was driving a Lexus jeep. They went to pick the body while we were still writing our statements. The police congratulated us for escaping being kidnapped.

The residents of Amadik also told us how they run like they did today, sometimes up to five times a day, because of the way kidnappers way-lay people on the road and cause them to run into their community in panic.

As I type, our bodies are riddled with bruises we sustained from fighting with the elements in the thick forest. We are as dirty as mechanics and our clothes were all stolen so we can't even change.

We want to thank the commissioners of police in Cross River and Imo States for their prompt response. But most importantly. I want to specially thank God for continually proving to be God in this our journey.

This is the second time in 3 months we are escaping death.

Total, Samsung Heavy Industries Resolve Dispute Over $3.3b Egina FPSO
User Avatar Forum: Oil/Gas
Posted by: Edoman - 12-06-2018, 09:26 AM - No Replies

Total Upstream Nigeria Limited (TUPNI) and Samsung Heavy Industries (SHIN) have resolved for out-of-court settlement over controversies trailing the $3.3 billion Egina Floating Production Storage and Offloading Vessel (FPSO).

The new development will apparently facilitate the completion of the FPSO, which is currently lying offshore and bring the parties closer to realisation of 200,000 barrels of crude oil per day from the Egina Deepwater Oilfield.

The two firms had been flexing muzzles in a legal battle over the contract for the building of the $3.3 billion FPSO unit constructed for the $16 billion Egina Deepwater oilfield being developed by Total, a global oil giant.

Total had in a letter signed by its Executive General Manager, Egina Project, Jean-Michel Guy, and addressed to the Group General Manager, National Petroleum Investment Services (NAPIMS), a division of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), informed the agency of the settlement.

The letter, obtained by The Guardian yesterday, read: “Given that parties have resolved the dispute after reaching a final settlement agreement as in our letter Ref. EGN-00-AEMG-BNPC-LET-000827, dated August 28, 2018; the order becomes ineffectual since there is no longer a dispute for which arbitration is required.

“We refer to our letter Ref. EGN-00-AEMG-BNPC-LET-000826, dated August 20, 2018 wherein we informed you that the Federal High Court adjourned the legal action instituted by Samsung Heavy Industries Nigeria Limited (SHIN) with regards to the Egina FPSO contract to August 29, 2018 for ruling.

“On the said date, the matter came up at the court for judgment. Although SHIN filed an application to discontinue the matter, the court declined considering the application and proceeded to deliver its judgment. The court gave judgment in favour of TUPNI and dismissed all but one of SHIN’s reliefs (the relief requesting for an order directing the parties from undermining the powers of the Arbitration Tribunal).”

2019 Presidency: PDP Leaders Serve Buhari Quit Notice At Ilorin Rally
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 12-06-2018, 09:18 AM - No Replies

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday served President Muhammdu Buhari quit notice at its presidential campaign rally in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Director General of the Atiku/Obi Campaign Organisation and President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki said the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government has failed in all facets of governance.

He asked Nigerians to vote out Buhari and the APC in next year’s general elections, adding that the APC had failed to deliver on all its 2015 campaign promises.

According to Saraki: “APC promised Nigeria a lot of things. They promised us security, at a time we had security problem only in the North East, but now it has extended to North Central, and even the North West. APC has failed because security has worsened.

“People are dying of hunger because the economy has gone terribly bad. They have also failed in fighting corruption. The hunger is serious in the country today. Nigeria is today the world’s poverty capital. We need a president that will fix the economy, create jobs and unite Nigerians.”

Atiku lamented that the nation has gone worse under the APC, hence the need to provide an alternative administration that can make things work in the nation again.

“Today in terms of economy, Nigeria is the poorest in the world. These are facts from international organisations. The security situation has become terribly bad,” he said.

Atiku alleged plans by the APC to buy permanent voters cards from people as a way of perpetrating electoral fraud, but urged Nigerians to guide against the plan so as not to mortgage their future and that of their children.

PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, while appreciating the large turnout of the people for the rally noted that Nigerians have been suffering since APC took over power in 2015.

Meanwhile, National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, has vowed that Atiku would be humiliated in the 2019 poll.

Oshiomhole spoke yesterday when he received women leaders of the APC from across the local government councils from his home state, Edo.

He also said Atiku’s main backer, former President Olusegun Obasanjo would be disappointed over the outcome of the poll.

He lambasted Secondus, for calling for the resignation of the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris and Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.

INEC Won’t Escape With Rigging 2019 Elections: Secondus
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 12-06-2018, 09:14 AM - No Replies

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) Prince Uche Secondus has cautioned the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, against rigging the 2019 election in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, party, warning that the electoral umpire will not get away with such act.

He said INEC successfully rigged the election in favour of the APC in the Ekiti and Osun governorship, saying such is capable of putting the nation in crisis. Secodus said this at the metropolitan square, along Asa dam ilorin venue of the north central campaign train of Atiku/Obi presidential campaign.

According to him, “We want to warn INEC about the previous elections; you rigged and escaped like the recent elections in Ekiti and Osun states. In 2019 elections, you cannot escape unless you want to cause crisis in Nigeria. Let us warn Professor Mahmoud Yakubu, if you want to cause crisis in Nigeria, rig the election, if you want peace in Nigeria, the 2019 elections must be free and fair.

“If you like, ignore the card reader; if you like, manipulate the machines. If you like, do whatever you want to do but Nigerians will never accept rigged election. So you better be warned.”

Prince Secondus also said that, the APC-led federal government has brought doom to the country since its assumption of office in 2015. He, however, saluted the courage of the security agencies in the country saying, “our army – the best army in Africa, our police – some of them are very, very good.”

While calling on the electorates to vote and protect their votes, Secondus said, “But this time around in 2019, the police and the army cannot be used because, all of you are army; all of you are police. You must police your votes, you must protect your votes, you must ensure that they don’t carry your materials and run away.”

He also said that “There will be no postponement of election because part of the strategies of the APC-led federal government is to cause crisis in some states and postpone the election and come with army, police to prevent the people from voting just as they did in Osun state. It cannot work again.”

“By the grace of God, we have the best candidate who will win. Atiku Abubakar will win the 2019 election.”

He stated further that, “the time has come where the emperors of APC can no longer fool Nigerians because, in APC, they have emperors, they are the least to know that Nigerians are sufferings.

“Since they took over the mantle of leadership of the country in 2015, Nigerians have been sufferings. No food on the table, particularly in the north central. Look at what happened in Benue, Iook at the genocide in Plateau and yet no arrest.

“Rather than bringing food on the table, they brought hunger; rather than improve the economy, they brought killings; rather than bring infrastructure to the people, they came with lies and propaganda and this cannot work again. You cannot fool the people all the time. They fooled us in 2015, they can’t fool us again.

“We are on rescue mission with a man who has capacities to run all sectors in private and public – the man to rescue Nigeria in 2019 and moving Nigeria forward. The man who has achieved a lot; the man they can’t try, the man their blackmail cannot work.

“And I am quite sure that Mr. President Buhari is in Poland and he can hear me clearly through telecast or any other electronic media. Let him hear clearly that he has brought doom to Nigeria and the only one who can bring light to Nigeria today as we are speaking with you is Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, ”Secondus said.

ASUU Strike! Lecturer Turns Spiderman To Attend To Students
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 12-06-2018, 09:11 AM - No Replies

This sounds hilarious but a lecturer in one the Universities in the Southeast ‘transformed’ into Spiderman to attend to his students.

The unnamed lecturer was spotted on Wednesday morning waling into his office in Spiderman costume.

It was gathered that some non-teaching staff present when the incident happened, were stunned to see a man dressed in Spiderman costume walking into the office complex. As they greeted the lecturer and called him his name, he ignored every greeting, pretending not to know anyone since he was not ‘human’. He opened his door, walked in and sat down, waiting for students whom he had told to await the arrival of ‘Spiderman’ to assist them.

It was gathered that the unnamed lecturer had told some students he was a strong member of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) currently on nationwide strike for the past one month. According to sources, some of his M.Sc. students wanted to see him to have a final discussion with him before their Dissertation defence which would come up immediately after the ASUU strike was called off so they wanted to get ready before then since ASUU was having serious discussions with the Federal Government and the strike may end anytime.
In order not to break ASUU directives which required lecturers to stay away from academic work while the strike was on, the lecturer decided to ‘transform’ into spiderman, probably on a rescue mission, so he could attend to the students as a super human, not a union member.
It was also gathered that though the unnamed lecturer ‘was’ spiderman, some students were positioned to lookout for ASUU strike compliance monitoring team in case they headed the lecturer’s way.

PMB Presents 2019 Budget To NASS Next Week
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 12-06-2018, 09:06 AM - No Replies

President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to present the 2019 budget to the National Assembly next week.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the president will tomorrow chair a special session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to deliberate and approve the 2019 budget.

Special adviser on media to the president, Femi Adesina, who disclosed this after the FEC meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the presidential villa, Abuja, yesterday, said the FEC meeting is expected to put finishing touches to the budget after which the president will then forward it as Appropriation Bill to the National Assembly.

Adesina said, “On Friday, by 10:30am there is going to be a special section of the Federal Executive Council (FEC). The intention is to look at the budget, get the proposals approved by FEC and then it will be transmitted to the National Assembly. So, that happens on Friday by 10am.”

There were concerns that the president may not present the budget to the National Assembly this year. However, with FEC’s expected approval tomorrow, there are indications that the legislature will get the budget before going on Christmas recess.

A reliable presidency source told LEADERSHIP that President Buhari will present the budget to the National Assembly next week. Our source however could not confirm the specific date.

LEADERSHIP recalls that the Federal Executive Council had in October approved the 2019-2021 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and the Fiscal Strategic Paper (FSP) .

FEC also approved a budget proposal of N8.73 trillion for the 2019 fiscal year which is about N400 billion lower than that of 2018.

Meanwhile, during his briefing, the minister of power, works and housing, Babatunde Fashola, disclosed that FEC had approved N1.6 billion for the Osegudu-Uweto road, which is a bridge that links the North and South of the country.

He said, “We had only one memorandum and it was just a cost review memorandum really – to approve cost variations on Osegudu-Uweto road. That road, as you might know, links the Loko-Uweto road, which is now substantially completed.

“The Usegudu-Uweto road links the road to that bridge on the Benue side that helps connect Nasarawa from the Loko side to Benue.

“The importance of the Loko-Uweto road, which we have substantially now completed, is that it is the bridge that links the North and South of Nigeria, unlike the old Niger Bridge and the Second Niger Bridge which link the East and the West.

“Linking the bridge reduces journey time from that part of the country and the eastern part of Nigeria, especially people who link through Makurdi, Enugu and all of that coming to Abuja.”

According to the minister, when the project is completed, it would significantly reduce the travel time of motorists and commuters on that route.

Fashola explained that the revision of the contract sum was due to the fact that the contract was awarded using 2010 rates and the contractor asked for a review to cushion rising cost and naira depreciation, a request FEC approved.

The minister disclosed that the initial cost of the bridge was about N7.9 billion while the variation is about N1.6 billion, taking the total cost to N9.5 billion.

“The contractor is on site working and he would feel comforted now that, at least, his rates have been improved and expect that his certificate would be paid,” he stated.

On his part, the minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, disclosed that the Council approved N551million for the building of a National Freight Office in Jibia, Katsina State.

“We awarded the National Freight Office in Jibia for the sum of N551,810,060 million and the contract is to last for 36 weeks. You know that the National Freight Office is usually located at a border post. So, the border post between Katsina and Niger Republic, that is where it is located,” he said.

  My Return In 2019 Non-negotiable - Buhari
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 12-05-2018, 11:08 PM - No Replies

Quote:President Muhammadu Buhari has urged his supporters not to panic, saying his return to power in 2019 is non-negotiable.

He also described those seeking to unseat him in next year’s general elections as enemies who stole from the nation blindly and should be avoided.

He made the disclosure yesterday at the National Consultative Forum of the National Committee of Buhari Support Groups held in Abuja.

Buhari, who was represented by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, cited infrastructural development, fight against corruption, Treasury Single Account and school feeding programme as some of the achievements that have endeared him to the people.

He wondered why the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which he accused of plundering the nation’s resources, would want to stage a return in 2019, especially after his own government has made the country “the best economy” in Africa.

Prominent guests at the event included the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Lagos State Governor Akinwumi Ambode, and Senators George Akume, Ayogu Eze and Abu Ibrahim.

Tinubu vowed that the APC would beat down the PDP, flaying what he described as political prostitution by PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

He also criticised Senate President Bukola Saraki for allegedly riding on the ruling party’s mandate to give a lifeline to the opposition.

Osinbajo’s campaign train stopped at the Nyanya and Karu areas of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) yesterday for the commencement of a door-to-door campaign.

Security operatives on his entourage had a herculean task controlling the crowd as people struggled to catch a glimpse of the vice president and shake his hands as he moved through the densely populated suburbs.

Osinbajo, at Nyanya, was received at the residence of Alhaji Kabiru Ahmed. Addressing the crowd there, he said: “We are here to greet you and we want to say to you that President Buhari is determined that if you vote for him for this second term, we will all go higher; we will all do better. Our country can feed all of us and we can find work for everybody because we have the money.

“I want you all, everybody who is here, please, make sure that you vote for President Buhari in 2019. As you know, he’s a truthful man; he’s an honest man. Our money will be used for us; it will be used to build our roads. Our money will be used properly. It will not be stolen. So, let us vote for the man who will use our money well.”

He had a similar message for the people at a community square in Karu. He said: “We are going higher, higher; we are going higher and higher, and I am very happy to be here with you. I want you to believe that President Muhammadu Buhari is going to do even better.”

Buhari, who is currently attending the UN Climate Change Conference, COP24, pledged that his government would not rest until the remaining Chibok girls kidnapped by Boko Haram in April 2014 have been released.

He renewed the commitment yesterday in Katowice, Poland, at a bilateral meeting with Swiss President Alain Berset, on the margins of the conference.

The president had spent the entire day at the International Conference Centre, Katowice, where he delivered his national address at the opening of the 12-day meeting, met with several world leaders, and visited the Nigerian pavilion.

During his meeting with the Swiss president, Buhari thanked the Swiss Confederation for its role as intermediaries in efforts to secure the release of some of the abducted. The issue of the remaining girls and other kidnapped persons will remain a “key priority” for the Nigerian government, he said.

Buhari and his Swiss counterpart discussed joint strategies to ensure the safe return of the girls, building on past successes. He also welcomed the Swiss president’s commitment to continue providing humanitarian assistance to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Nigeria.

In separate bilateral meetings with the President of Poland Andrzej Duda and the Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Buhari commended the country for a successful outing at the opening of the COP24 meeting.

He told his Polish counterpart that Nigeria was facing serious climate change challenges, particularly the receding Lake Chad, which is a source of livelihood to some 40 million people living in the region.

“Nigeria is totally committed to global efforts to mitigate and adapt to effects of climate change,” Buhari told the Polish leader, whose country holds the presidency of COP24.

Meanwhile, the wife of the President, Aisha Buhari yesterday stunned her audience when she revealed that two men in her husband’s government were obstructing the administration’s progress.

She regretted that but for the duo the APC-led government would have achieved more. The men, according to her, would never allow things to move fast.

She made the revelation at the National Women Leadership Summit organised by a group, Project 4+4, which is seeking support for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in 2019. The event was held at the National Women Development Center, Abuja.

The president’s wife, who did not disclose the names of the men, said she was dismayed at the disposition of some Nigerians who, rather than fight the two, crawl to them at night to curry favour.

In an emotionally laden voice, Mrs. Buhari added: “I have realised that Senator Babafemi Ojudu, SA political to the president, and Dr. Hajo Sani, my aide Sajo, and Wife of the Vice President Mrs. Osinbajo are not comfortable with my saying this and want me to confine myself to my prepared speech but we must say the truth.”

She urged women to vote massively and return the APC to power and encouraged them to spread the news of accomplishments by the government. She also called for a minute’s silence in honour of soldiers that died fighting the insurgency.

She commended the political group for organising the summit and setting the tone for other Buhari support groups.

Also speaking at the event, the wife of the Vice President Dolapo Osinbajo commended women for providing a permanent support base for the APC. She urged them to keep supporting the party to achieve a better Nigeria for them and their children.

Earlier, the national coordinator of Project 4+4, Comrade Garba Musa Bello, explained that the purpose of the summit was to bring together women from the country’s 774 local government areas and give them a strategy for the campaign.

In a related development, the Deputy Inspector General of Police for the South West, Mr. Oshodi Glover Agboola, disclosed yesterday that the Inspector General of Police has put together a “robust and elaborate” security arrangement to ensure peaceful campaign for all the political parties.

At an interactive session with political party leaders and officers from other security agencies in Abeokuta, Ogun State, he urged “everyone to tread on the path of peace before, during and after the 2019 elections.”

He warned that any person found with arms during campaigns would be prosecuted. He also appealed to parents and guardians to keep their wards off thuggery, because “politics is not a do or die affair.”

Osinbajo And Fake News Are Co-joined Twins - Reno Omokri
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 12-05-2018, 10:58 PM - No Replies

If Asked to Define Co-Joined Twins, I Will Point to Osinbajo and Fake News

Again, the Vice President, the so-called Pastor Yemi Osinbajo, has decided to spout his oft repeated falsehood that the Jonathan administration did not plan for Nigeria’s future and that the current economic travails facing Nigeria under the failed Muhammadu Buhari administration, were caused by the Goodluck Jonathan government.

Mr. Osinbajo repeated this discredit false claim on Tuesday the 4th of December, 2018, at the opening ceremony of the 5th National Family Planning Conference in Abuja where he said:

“Between 2011 and 2015 when Nigeria enjoyed some of the highest revenues in history and overtook South Africa to become the largest economy in Africa, there was no commensurate impact in poverty alleviation and wellbeing.”

I am known for facts and I will now proceed to show, with facts, that Mr. Osinbajo is a notorious liar whose pastoral calling is in doubt.

First of all, the Jonathan administration had a 10-year development plan known as the Transformation Agenda and part of that plan involved setting up institutions to save money for the rainy day and stabilize Nigeria’s future budget.

Thus, in May 2011, then President Jonathan set up the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority with an initial $1 billion USD in seed capital.

The Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority has three different funds which included the Stabilization Fund which was set up as a safeguard against budgetary deficits and a last resort from which any government could withdraw annually to meet shortfalls in the budget caused by short falls in oil prices or other budgetary constraints.

The Future Generation Fund which is a savings fund for long-term investments to provide savings for future generations of Nigerians.

And lastly, the Nigeria Infrastructure Fund which is meant to secure investments in the infrastructural development of the country. It should be noted that the money being used to fund the second Niger Bridge is not money that was provided by the Buhari administration, but money that came of the Nigeria Infrastructure Fund set up by the Jonathan administration.

Nigerians may note that when the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority was conceived by then President Jonathan, it was precisely the then Rivers state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi and the then Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, now the current chairman of the All Progressives Congress and the then Lagos State Governor, Raji Fashola, now the minister of works, power and housing that led a group of Governors who later moved over to the APC, to resist the creation of the NSIA.

Nigerians may note that then President Jonathan refused to touch the Excess Crude Account and wanted the monies there transferred into the Sovereign Wealth Fund until members of Mr. Osinbajo’s party, the All Progressive Congress, led by the then Governor of Rivers state and chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, Rotimi Amaechi, took the Federal Government to court and got the Supreme Court to force the Jonathan administration to share that money with them.

And the sad thing is that Osinbajo failed to mention that the $6 billion that the Jonathan administration saved in the Gas Fund for the development of our gas infrastructure is what the Buhari government shared out to the states in the name of Paris Club refunds. Or that the Bank Verification Number, Treasury Single Account and the Cashless policy are all initiatives of the Jonathan administration.

And even beyond the NSIA, the Jonathan administration had several initiatives to turn around the lives of Nigerian youths including the Youth Enterprise With Innovation in Nigeria (YouWin), the Graduate Internship Scheme (GIS), the Presidential Special Scholarship Scheme for Innovations and Development scholarships (PRESSID) to First Class graduates of Nigerian universities to mention a few.

With these schemes, Nigeria under Jonathan became the third fastest growing economy in the world according to CNNMoney and the International Monetary Fund.

Moreover, whereas the International Food Policy Research Institute in their annual Global Hunger Index of 2013, praised the Jonathan administration for significantly reducing hunger in Nigeria, today, the World Economic Forum and the World Poverty Clock have both declared that Nigeria under Buhari has become the world headquarters for extreme poverty having overtaken India, a nation eight times our size.

Additionally, while former President Jonathan built 165 almajiri schools and 14 new federal universities to help reduce the number of out of school population in Nigeria, it should be noted that the Buhari government has not built even one nursery school, yet the claim that Jonathan did not plan for the nation and that they did.

Finally, a frequent visitor to Nigeria is Mr. Bill Gates who in 2013 praised then President Jonathan’s handling of the economy when he visited Nigeria, but had a completely different view of President Buhari’s handling of the economy.

On March 22, 2018, at an expanded National Economic Council at the Presidential Villa, Mr. Gates looked President Buhari in the eye and told him that his ‘economic blueprint does not address Nigerians’ needs’ and that under him, ‘Nigeria is one of the most dangerous places in the world to give birth’.

So with these facts I have presented, it is established that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is a liar and his so called pastoral calling is a ruse that hides a man who has sold his soul to satan, the father of lies. At this point, it is necessary to state that if I am asked to define what conjoined twins are, I would point to the relationship between Osinbajo and fake news.

Daddy Freeze: 'I Was Still Paying Tithes While I Was Preaching Against It'

Daddy Freeze has revealed that while he was preaching against paying tithes on social media, he was paying it in reality.

He admitted he was not practising what he preached until about a month ago. In this interview with Linda Ikeji TV host, Hero Daniels, he was asked, 'when did you become absolutely certain about not paying tithes' and he responded saying, 'about a month before I came on Linda Ikeji. Let me be honest, I was still paying tithe when I started my ministry on social media'.

He continued to say, 'I was preaching against it but i was afraid that If i stop paying it, I was going to die or something was going to happen. There were times when I doubted myself and doubted the scripture because these pastors have become god-figures, half of the things Nigerian pastors preach about are wrong but because they are so revered, nobody questions them so at some point, I felt that these people can not be wrong and I'm right even though I had the scripture and I had some revelations too'.

APC ‘ll Win Ogun, Imo Without Amosun, Okorocha – Oshiomhole
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 12-05-2018, 07:02 PM - No Replies

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, has said with the popularity of the APC in Imo and Ogun States, the party would win the 2019 elections despite the alleged anti-party activities of their governors.

He described the governors as poor students of their own history who had forgotten they lost elections before winning on the platform of the APC.

Oshiomhole spoke after receiving the APC women leaders from Edo State and Abuja, who paid him a solidarity visit in his office in Aso Drive, Abuja.

Okorocha, Amosun and Governor Abdul-Aziz Yari of Zamfara State are at loggerheads with the national chairman for not recognising their preferred governorship candidates.

The preferred candidates in Imo and Ogun and some aides of the governors had since defected to other political parties to pursue their ambitions.

Oshiomhole said, “Those who think our political future is tied to them; they are poor students of their own political history. Some of these people who talk as if they are invincible, they have forgotten that they have run elections in the past and lost until they abandoned their parties and joined us. So if they return back, history will repeat itself.”

“Whether you are a big or small man, the rules are not supposed to discriminate. Our popularity in Imo and Ogun today is much higher. It is not that once you are a governor you have high electoral value.

“Yes in APC, our governors have high electoral value but we also a few who are electoral liabilities.”

The former Nigeria Labour Congress President said Nigeria needed to go back to the era where institutions were respected and protected and not powerful individuals.

He added that the actions of the two governors would not affect the fortunes of the party in the elections.

“In Imo state today, APC will win more votes. My focus is on ordinary Imo voters because on that day, the governor would have only one vote, his son-in-law would have only one vote while his Commissioner for Happiness would have only one vote.

“But artisans, traders, teachers and workers whose salaries are not being paid have the same weight of vote and they are excited about the renewed possibility of a new government coming with fresh ideas free of all the encumbrances of the present system. So in Imo I’m very confident.

“Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is from Ogun State. The state is one of the most enlightened States in Nigeria. They have a huge history; they are not in a political kingdom headed by one person.”

“If they were looking for true reconciliation, they wouldn’t have done what they did (defection of aides). That is not how democracy works. Nigeria must grow beyond this syndrome ‘I’m the governor, I will decide.’ You have only one vote. With due respect, I was once a governor. Overall APC is much stronger now.

Stating that the party would review if any of its rules had been breached, Oshiomhole added that the real sanction was with the electorate.

He, however, said the efforts of the Peace and Reconciliation Committee were already yielding fruits in some places while those with negotiable grievances were being sorted out.

KEDCO targets N48billion in 2019
Wednesday, December 05, 2018 BUSINESS
                             [Image: q9bLGa-VzdbJe4BPB1vuBXpX15vV8iHhmKXOsYGL...wHRXw=s0-d]
Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) said it has put in place all the necessary modalities to boost revenue generation in 2019.

KEDCO Managing Director, Dr. Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna, who disclosed this at the just concluded marketing conference in Kano, said proper assessment had been done and strategies put in place.

Gwamna noted that the outcome of the assessment was already yielding the desired results, adding that necessitated the N48billion target for 2019, which translates to N4billion every month.

He said that KEDCO’s receipts before now hovered around N1.5billion, adding that after the pre-restructuring strategy, collection increased to N2.7billion.

“We have done our assessment and based on that, strategies have been developed so as to achieve the desired result and target for 2019. Before now, our collection was put at N1.5billion.

“After the pre-restructuring collection, we were able to up our collection by N1.2billion to have N2.7billion. This is huge and we hope to consolidate on that in the coming year,’’ he said.

The KEDCO boss remarked that there were other consolidated gains of restructuring, including “achieving book code realignment, feeder metering, customer asset validation tagging and indexing, increased deployment of working tools and safety gears and staff training and retraining.”

He explained that the N4billion target for 2019 would be pursued using four strategies, such as being a responsive and customer-centric company, as well as improving synergy with stakeholders.

We intend also to create a flat-structured organization, where everyone has the opportunity to influence the direction of the company and building an ecosystem approach in order to solve problems and open new opportunities.

Gwamna assured that the N4billion target collection of the company would be in compliance with the satisfaction of customers, adding that 2019 would be a priority year to minimize complaints from customers and ensuing a world-class customer service delivery.

Uche Nnaji: It Is Unfair To Preach Against Runs Girls & Not Address BET/Gambling
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 12-05-2018, 01:02 PM - No Replies

Fashion Designer, Uche Nnaji says it should be worrisome to everyone that many young men now want to engage in betting/gambling instead of working hard to eke a living.

In a post shared on his Facebook page this evening, Nnaji said that as much as religious bodies preach against girls doing runs, they should also speak up against this new trend of able-bodied men, particularly in Lekki Phase 1, doing nothing but waiting to gamble. Read what he wrote below

Quote:A new epidemic is gradually rising and ravaging the youthfulness of our ideal youths , it is not CODEIN, TRAMADOL, MONKEY TAIL or any of those drugs that’s some Nigerian pop stars exalt in their music. This new epidemic stealthily ravaging our youths is something that growing up as a lad in Assemblies of God Church in Olodi-Apapa, Pastors preached against gambling and POOL playing. This was actually frowned upon as it was seen as promoting LAZINESS and GREED . But today the same POOL that was a past time of OLD-Retired Men has become a mainstay for majority of able bodied Nigerian male youth population.
Come to Admiralty in Lekki 1 and see how any space with a BETTING sign is packed with people standing outside waiting for their turn to PLAY.
The irony in all of this is that the POOR /Simple-minded remain the victim as with little as #100, they say a little prayer and BETs with the HOPE of a miraculous breakthrough.
.
The Govt may not know the monster it is breeding as their interest may just be the TAX collected from these BETting houses, but I believe the “Religious bodies “ have a role to play in curtailing this cancerous trend eating deep into the core fabric of our youths. I have already encouraged few of my pastor friends to start speaking up against this because it is unfair to preach against “Runs” girls and not address the “BET “ /Gambling Boys because one thing drives both...GREED.
Anyway let me close my mouth before they will say asides FASHION & STYLE what else does he know sef [Image: huh.png][Image: huh.png].

NNPC: $800m Loss Forced Termination of Oil Pipeline Security Deal

NNPC: $800m Loss Forced Termination of Oil Pipeline Security Deal
Wednesday, December 05, 2018 BUSINESS
                            [Image: ff691209-nnpc-building-696x398.png]
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) yesterday stated the reasons for its decision to cancel and re-award the contract for security of 87-kilometre Trans Forcados Pipeline (TFP) to a new firm.

The corporation stated that so far in 2018, it has lost crude oil worth $800 million from the line despite the former security contract.

In a statement signed by the corporation’s Group General Manager, Public Affairs, Mr. Ndu Ughamadu, in Abuja, it explained that the decision to assign the TFP surveillance package to indigenous firm, Ocean Marine Solutions, was reached after consideration of the huge losses on the line.

NNPC said it appraised the new company’s record of performance on the Bonny-Port Harcourt and Warri-Escravos crude evacuation lines, and found it impressive, adding that its contract with it would entail Ocean Marine paying for any damage to any inch of pipeline under its watch.
According to it, the new contract offered it and its Joint Venture (JV) partners, host communities and the Nigerian Federation, immeasurable benefits.

It said, faced with massive losses in projected revenue, stakeholders in the TFP which reportedly account for daily production throughput of over 250,000 barrels of crude oil were unanimous in the decision to seek better ways of ensuring reliability and availability of the line, hence, the termination of its previous security deal.

Providing a context, NNPC said in the statement: “In 2018, we lost over 60 days of production due to incessant breaches on the TFP despite having a security contract in place. In terms of production numbers, this translates to over 11 million barrels of crude oil which on face value equates to over $800 million in lost revenue to all the stakeholders in the matrix which includes NNPC, its Joint Venture partners and the Nigerian Federation.”

It noted that no responsible business entity or government would allow such level of loss to go on without taking swift actions to stop the losses.
Based on this, NNPC said Ocean Marine Solution was assigned to handle the TFP under a proof of concept arrangement which it said was yielding great results in the Bonny-Port Harcourt and Escravos-Warri crude evacuation lines.

“Under this package, the surveillance company is obligated to protect the lines and bear the cost of repairs if and when there is any breach to the pipeline.

“This arrangement is totally different from the old order where the contractor gets paid for surveillance duties and totally exempted from repair cost or any form of responsibility in the event of any line break or breach to the pipeline he is paid to watch,” the statement added.

It further explained that the cost of the new deal was insignificant when compared on the basis of value-for-money with the old arrangement.
According to it, “In 2018, after we lost over 60 days of production, under the old contract, the NNPC and its stakeholders spent over $32 million on repairs, protection of the TFP and clean-up. This is a verifiable fact which makes the new deal not only better but far more rewarding to all stakeholders.”

It also dismissed insinuations that the new contract would spell doom for youths of communities on the pipeline’s right-of-way currently rendering sundry services to the old service provider, arguing that the issue of TFP security was purely a matter of criminality which the host communities along the pipeline corridor are totally against.

NNPC said that long before now, it had evolved a host community participation model which naturally incorporates youths within the vicinity of its assets and areas of operations as veritable stakeholders and participants in the running of such facility.

“We want to state for the umpteenth time that based on our community engagement model for asset protection, OMS is obligated to engage youths in the TFP right-of-way in executing its mandate thus reports of imminent loss of jobs by host community youths are totally incorrect and mischievous,” it explained.

The NNPC also noted that community participation model was already in practice on Escravos-Warri and Bonny-Port Harcourt lines and the host communities have absolutely no issues with it or the pipeline surveillance service provider.

On allegation that the new contract did not go through due process as mandated by law, NNPC said the government-approved procurement processes and procedures in the award of highly sensitive national security contracts were followed to the letter.

The Civil Societies Coalition for the Emancipation of Osun State (CSCEOS), has written the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, demanding probe of the immediate past Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Osun state, Dr. Ajibola Bashiru, over an alleged illegal acquiring of properties worth N2.2billion with public funds.

A petition letter dated Wednesday, November

28th, 2018, signed by the group’s Chairman, Comrade Adeniyi, Alimi Sulaiman and addressed to the Acting Chairman of the EFCC through its Ibadan Zonal Head Office, titled “Report of Acquiring Wealth through

Illegall Means and Suspicious Corrupt Practices Against Mr. Ajibola Bashiru, the former Commissioner for Special Duties and Regional Integration and immediate past Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.

The group threatened that more revelations about how Aregbesola’s aides defrauded the State during their eight years tenure of office would soon be revealed.

Sulaiman alleged that a sum of N375billion debt and over 15months salaries and pensions arrears were left behind by Rauf Aregbesola’s administration.

He called for thorough and credible investigation by the EFCC in line with part vii (38)(1) of the miscellaneous provision of EFCC and forensic audit of the Osun State Ministry of Special Duties and Regional Integration under Ajibola Bashiru’s watch.

“We are constrained to write this Petition Letter to the authority of your anti-graft body in line with section 15 sub-section 5 and 24 sub-section (1e) of the amended 1999

Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Freedom of Information Act 2011 and National Human Rights Commission Act 2010 (amendment) where Freedom of Speech and Expression are highlighted.

The group said “as stakeholders, we are reporting the suspicious alleged illegal accumulation of wealth through identified physical properties in the shore of Osun and Lagos States that worth N2.2billion belonging to immediate past Osun State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ajibola Bashiru.

“To our dismay, Mr. Bashiru was acquiring these properties in the choice areas of the two States (Osun and Lagos) through Osun public

funds. While acquiring these properties through Osun funds, the government he served in just six years where he acquired such gargantuan wealth, were owing the workers and retirees alike to the period of fourteen(14) to seventeen(17) months’ salary and pension arrears with the excuse of no funds in the State government purse then.

“We wish to inform your good office,

the part of the illegally acquired properties of Mr. Ajibola Bashiru in just six years as  Commissioner in Osun State by stealing of

public funds entrust in his coffer, as follows; a gigantic Estate at Oroki Estate Extension at the back of popular GMT Hotel, Goke

Omigbodun way, Ring Road, Osogbo, gigantic residential building, Adejare Bello Way, Laymus Hotel area, Oke-Fia GRA, Osogbo, gigantic

office Complex at Arubuola Street, beside Ike-Oluwa Mosque, Ladsol Pure Water Bus Stop, Ogo-Oluwa area, Osogbo and host of other properties including fleet of Cars which we promised  to make more evidences about them available during the invitation by the anti-graft body to endorse all the allegations contained therein in our Petition Letter.

“In addition, the CSCEOS would also like your agency to follow all the Bank Account Transactions of Mr. Ajibola Bashiru through his Bank Verification Number(BVN) registered Phone Number:-08034753343. We also

want to crave the indulgence of the anti-graft body to probe all the Osun funds put in the custody of Ajibola Bashiru illegally during

Court Orders Destruction Of 14 Containers Of Tramadol
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 12-05-2018, 11:19 AM - No Replies

Quote:The Nigeria Customs Service on Tuesday secured an order of the Federal High Court in Lagos to destroy 14 containers loaded with Tramadol, which were seized from smugglers.

The order followed an ex parte application taken before Justice Saliu Saidu by the agency.

The counsel for the Customs, Mr Bisi Ogunlowo, explained to the court that the banned drug consignments were intercepted between February and September this year by the NCS operatives on duty at the Apapa Wharf, Lagos.

He said the 14 containers of the banned drug were abandoned by the smugglers, who fled upon being accosted for checks.

He added that since the confiscation of the consignments, no one had come forward to lay claim to the containers.

Ogunlowo said a search by officials at the court’s registry revealed that there were no pending lawsuits against the NCS in respect of any of the consignments.

He, therefore, urged Justice Saidu to authorise the Customs to destroy the banned drug consignments pursuant to sections 167 and 169 (1), Schedule 3 of the Nigeria Customs Services Management Act Cap. C. 45 of the Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

In granting the prayer, the judge held, “I have listened to the submission of the counsel as well as gone through the affidavit in support of the application and the written address and the attached exhibits.

“The application is hereby granted as prayed.”

Toheeb: Meet Cemetery Attendant Who Digs Graves For A Living In Lagos
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 12-05-2018, 11:18 AM - No Replies

Quote:A young man named Toheeb is a Cemetery Attendant in Atan Cemetery in Lagos.

He is part of a team entrusted with the duty of maintaining the War Memorial where the memories of soldiers who died in the World Wars are sacredly guarded.

According to the Cemetery Attendant, Toheeb who recently spoke to Brainnews correspondent in Lagos said;

“My former name is Ayanime. I am from Ikot Ikpene in Akwa Ibom State. I came to Lagos in the year 2008 and found work at the Atan Cemetery. I am part of the team responsible for grooming the World Wars garden.”

Toheeb who changed his name to get a sense of belonging in Lagos State says life has been tough on him.

He is able to offer services that include digging graves. Sometimes he goes through the whole process of digging and burying the deceased for N500.

Often times, he goes home with N4000 from his private burial services. He confirms this as his highest earnings — but one that costs him a lot of energy. Like when he dug a grave for almost two hours.

“I dig sometimes when I don’t have money to eat,” Toheeb opens up.

This compliments his unsteady source of income lending gardening help at the War Memorial. When the man he works with is able to get some jobs, he gives him some cash as his reward. Like his boss, he was not directly employed to work at the United Nations-managed facility.

Simply, they both work for the boss’s father who gives them instructions on what to do.

There appears to be no better option for Toheeb who is able to function as a mechanic and can also lay bricks.

“I don’t have anybody in Lagos except me and my sister. That is why I run out to work hard because I don’t want to feel hungry and I don’t want to steal.

“So that is why I am doing so many odd jobs to get money.”

Toheeb was about to complete his apprenticeship at a mechanic workshop but his boss sent him away until he is able to complete payment for his training.

Still looking to pay for his training, he settles for stipends at the War Memorial.

“The type of help I need is for me to finish my work. Or if I can see a place to learn a new skill and be mentored.

“If I can also be linked with a company that can give me regular jobs relating to my skills, that will be better,”
he concluded.

Until help comes calling, this appears the only opening to assist him in dealing with the challenge of fending for himself.

He wishes himself a character in a better living condition.

APC Reconcilation: 5 Injured As Ex-minister, Speaker Escape Lynching In Jigawa
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 12-05-2018, 11:02 AM - No Replies

Quote:Political thugs, weekend, stormed the house of Nigeria’s former Minister of Commerce, Bello Maitama, and vandalised two of his official vehicles and that of the Speaker, Jigawa State House of Assembly, Isa Idris.

Mr. Maitama, a commerce minister during the military regime of Ibrahim Babangida, was chairing a reconciliation meeting with aggrieved members of the APC in his residence in Gwaram Local Government Area when thugs disrupted the process and attempted to lynch the minister.

A witness, who was part of the reconciliation committee, told journalists that it took the combined efforts of the security agencies to whisk away the ex-minister and the speaker but their vehicles were not spared. He said the security agencies had to fire gunshots into the air to disperse the gathering of thugs, stressing that if that move was not made, the situation might have turned more violent.

The ex-minister was chairing a reconciliation committee meeting which was aimed at bringing back to fold aggrieved members of the ruling APC in the state. Recently, the governor, Mohammad Badaru, constituted a reconciliation committee to bring together all aggrieved members of the APC in the state.

The thugs were believed to be sponsored by other local politicians in Gwaram, who have been nursing grudges against the council boss, Abdulmalik Shehu, whom they accuse of not running an inclusive government. A witness told reporters that politics in Gwaram has been tense, ever since the council boss was installed by the state authority.

He has allegedly not been carrying along members of the party at the grassroots. However, the Police, yesterday, disclosed that 10 political thugs have been arrested in connection with the fracas. Jigawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdu Jinjiri, who confirmed the arrests in an interview in Dutse, yesterday, said that four others were injured during the fight.

“We have arrested 10 suspects for fighting after a political gathering in Gwaram town yesterday. “Adequate security was provided for the gathering. However, after the event, thugs began to fight during which four persons were injured.

Morning Devotional For Wednesday 5th December

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

WEDNESDAY, 5TH DECEMBER.

YOU’RE NOT A NATURAL MAN.

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him… (1 Corinthians 2:14).

The natural man is the man that’s not born again; the life in him is the ordinary human life; that’s what makes him a natural man. However, when you’re born again, you’re not by any means a natural man, because your human life has been supplanted by God’s divine life. Jesus said in John 3:6, “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”

The one who’s born again is born of the Spirit by the Word: “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever” (1 Peter 1:23). You’re born of the Word the same way Jesus was born of the Word; the life in you is the life of the Word. This is the reason you’re indestructible. We just read it: the Word that gave birth to you—the Word from which you came—is indestructible; it lives and abides forever.

Being born again, you’re the heavenly man; the God-man from heaven, with the life of Christ. Refuse to see yourself as human; you’re divine! As Jesus is, so are you in this world (1 John 4:17). You might ask, “Won’t that be going too far?” No; it’s the truth!
Psalm 82:6 says, “I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.” The Lord Jesus quoted the very same scripture in John 10:34-36. Until, and unless you see yourself, not as a human being, but as a god in the earth, you’ll suffer what human beings suffer.

You’re not an ordinary person. Recall the words of Jesus in Mark 16:17-18: “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”

Anyone who can do the things Jesus outlined in the portion of the scripture above is certainly not human; and that’s you. You’re the believing one; a divine personality, with the same life and nature with God.

CONFESSION

Blessed Father, how great and glorious you are! I celebrate your life in me, which gives me the nature of righteousness and dominion over this world! As Jesus is, so am I—full of your glory, power, and love. Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY:

John 1:12-13 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

1 Corinthians 2:14-15 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

5TH DECEMBER.

I affirm that I am not of this world; I hail from God, and dwell in the Kingdom of light, and of God’s dear son where I reign with Christ and rule by the power of the Spirit! I am of the day and not of the night. I am anointed with the Holy Ghost to preach the good news of Christ’s salvation, and bring as many as the Father have ordained out of darkness into His marvelous light,

and into the glorious liberty of the sons of God. I am convinced that the Gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes, hence, my avowed commitment to its continued propagation around the world. By the ability of the Spirit, I will keep preaching and fulfilling God’s plan of bringing many to righteousness. Hallelujah! I am the light of the world; my calling is to

illumine the hearts of men. When I arrive anywhere, illumination comes, and confusion and perplexity are dispelled. I am a man on a mission; therefore, the lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places, I am making progress with giant strides, with all of nature, and everything that exists, working together in my favour. Blessed be God.

2019;Obasanjo, Atiku, Secondus Meet, Renew Strategies
User Avatar Forum: News

Quote:Olusola Fabiyi andOlalekan Adetayo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, met in Abuja on Tuesday in Abuja, THE PUNCH learnt last night.

The meeting was also attended by the National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, amongst a few others who were said to have been carefully selected for the meeting.

Sources close to the meeting told our correspondents that the meeting was based on the strategies that would enable Atiku and the PDP emerge winners in the general elections.

It was also gathered that the meeting reviewed the ongoing zonal campaigns of the party, which was said to be a precursor for the state-by-state campaign that would follow.

It was also gathered that the former president used the opportunity of the meeting to settle the rift between Atiku and a former Governor of Adamawa State, Admiral Murtala Nyako (retd.).

Nyako, who is a former Chief of Naval Staff, was a member of the PDP before he defected to the All Progressives Congress.

However, instead of returning to the PDP like Atiku after their disagreements with the national leadership of the ruling party, Nyako and his son, Senator Abdul-Aziz Nyako, joined the African Democratic Congress.

The former president was said to have been worried about the cacophony of voices from the home state of Atiku in particular about his presidential ambition and decided to step in and settle the rifts.

Apart from Nyako, it was also learnt that Obasanjo intervened in the alleged misunderstanding between Atiku and his former aide while serving as the Vice President, Dr Umar Ardo.

A source privy to the meeting said, “It was a family and an elaborate meeting. Baba (Obasanjo) is a fantastic leader. I have never seen such a man who combines energy with intellect and political sagacity.

“He spoke at length to everyone, including the Waziri (Atiku) and others that were there.

“He had successfully settled the rift between Atiku and Nyako and the disagreements between Atiku and Ardo. Now, we have Adamawa to take because all the power brokers are behind us.”

When contacted on the meeting, Secondus declined to give details.

Rather, he said the leadership of the party would always meet to strategise ahead of the election.

Meanwhile, opposition political parties on Tuesday expressed doubt over the readiness of President Muhammadu Buhari to accept the outcome of the 2019 presidential election whichever way it goes.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, had in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria said the 2019 election was not a matter of life-or-death for Buhari, because he would be happy to accept the verdict of the electorate.

But the Social Democratic Party and the All Progressives Grand Alliance in separate interviews with our correspondents said there were no proofs so far that Buhari would do as Onyeama promised.

The National Publicity Secretary of the SDP, Mr Alfa Mohammed, told one of our correspondents that the statement credited to Onyeama was contrary to an earlier statement credited to the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazzau.

Mohammed recalled that Dambazzau had been quoted as saying that the presidential candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, would suffer a bloodied nose in the election.

He said the statement by Dambazzau, whose ministry is in charge of internal security, was an indication that the government was ready to unleash security agents on the opposition.

NPA Remitted N11.3 Billion 2018 Surplus To Government, Says Bala Usman
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 12-05-2018, 09:49 AM - No Replies

The Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Hadiza Bala Usman, said the Authority had remitted over N11.3 billion being part of the 2018 business operations’ surplus to the Federal Government coffers this year.

Bala Usman, who made this known in a swift reaction to an allegation that NPA failed to remit the sum of N177 billion operating surplus, insisted it had paid the 2017 surplus to the Federation Account, and even paid part of the 2018 surplus already.

Bala Usman, in a statement described the view of the ‘testifier’ as an “allegation without foundation,” having remitted a whopping sum of over N38 billion into the government coffers.

She stated: “With due respect to our distinguished senator, the Authority wishes to state that this allegation is without foundation. The facts of the situation are as follows: “Total revenue generated by the NPA in the Year 2017 stood at N303.9 billion.

“Total expenditure (inclusive of recurrent and capital) amounted to N205.8 billion.

“Of the N303.9 billion generated revenue, the sum of N60.12 billion represents uncollectable revenue from concessionaires attributed to clauses in the concession agreements, which the Authority is currently reviewing.

“Consequently, the operating surplus for the Authority in 2017 was the sum of N38 billion.

“Therefore, the sum of N30.4 billion, which represents 80 per cent of the operating surplus that the Authority is required to remit to the Consolidated Revenue Fund. In line with the Fiscal Responsibility Act 2007, has been duly paid into the Consolidated Revenue Fund by the Authority with receipt of payment already issued by the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation.

“These computations arise from the Authority’s management account pending the conclusion of the audit of the 2017 financial statement, which is ongoing.

“It is pertinent to also note that the Authority has already remitted the sum of N11.3 billion for 2018 CRF contribution into the Consolidated Revenue Fund with the use of Authority’s management account ahead of auditing for 2018.

“The Authority wishes to state its readiness to present all documents needed to provide clarification to the Senate Committee on Marine Transport and the Senate,” she said further, and appealed to the lawmakers to exercise greater restraint on issues that deal with the integrity of national institutions, in the course of their oversight function.

Vote Atiku If You Want Our Country To Return To Egypt Again - Tinubu To Nigerians
Wednesday, December 05, 2018  politics

Former Lagos state governor and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said that Nigerians must not allow the nation to return to part of destruction and retrogression which the People Democratic Party (PDP) led government subjected it to for 16 years but aim to move forward in building a nation that every citizen will be proud of.

Tinubu who spoke at a National, consultative forum organised by the National Committee of Buhari Support Groups in Abuja accused the Atiku Campaign Organisation and the People Democratic Party of trying to blackmail the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Police with the accusation of plots to rig the 2019 elections because “they knew that they will not win”.

Read Also:2019 poll: Why Buhari must continue, by Tinubu

He also accused Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki of using the mandate of the APC to negotiate and give lifeline to the opposition, saying “he left the PDP, joined us, got elected, got our mandate, our majority and sold it for a pot of pottage. God is honest, Saraki is not”.

The former Lagos state governor also recalled how the rigging machineries of the PDP almost denied him his re-election in 2003 when INEC published what he described as fake results of the governorship election in Lagos state on its website, saying it took the then Resident Electoral Commissioner’s courage to insist that what was published was not the real results for his election to be validated.

He said: “Come February, we will re-elect Buhari. It is not easy to put together a National Committee, but we are in the same family. As free minded people, you are all free to be doing other things this morning, but you are here because you have the vision and the determination that Nigeria must continue the foundation and the progress of the future.

“Working together to re-elect Buhari is a task that must be achieved. Why are they complaining? Buhari is too busy to exchange words with them because he is building foundation of a prosperous Nigeria that will magnify the economy and provide employment for everyone regardless of the status in the society.

“A fervent man like him will not have time for the nonsense being thrown at him. I give you one message for them and there will be many such messages. Their candidate who is supposed to beat Buhari has been in our party and many other parties. He has more party members to build a house.

“All you have to do is to go out there and tell him that a house built on cards will be collapsed with a single stroke of broom. He said they are reformed, but reformed what? Reformed PDP. No. Tell them as you go out that we accept the admission of guilty that they were vagabond before and now being reformed.

“But they have not served enough probation. You can only be reformed if you are an ex-convict, a drug addict or a political prostitute. It is because Buhari has not temperament and no tolerance for corruption, he is vigorously ridding the nation of blemish and looting, a bad reputation.

“I can see them celebrating the visa. What a shame? Yet you want to lead this country with the most vibrant economy in Africa? Why should we allow them?

They ran this country from 1999 till 2015. They were planning for 60 years of doing nothing, lack of direction and concern for the citizens.

“Are we still in this nation where visionary leadership is required? If yes, then they are not competent and not qualified to be leading Nigeria again and say they want to come back to government. If they left our schools in such dilapidated condition, left out hospitals without Medicare, they don’t deserve to come back.

“They say we should not talk about their past anymore because they are ashamed of it, but we cannot go without talking about it because a nation has no history if there are no reference. If you give me an application for Employment which is the application of Atiku Abubakar, I must look at what you have done before, you experience.

“We have to look at Halliburton and why they left Nigeria. Go and ask those questions. They spent 16 billion dollars of NEPA money and what they give us is darkness and when they knew that we were kicking them out, they shared the company through irregularities called privatization which I called personalization of the wealth of Nigeria.

“We won’t allow that to happen again and I will recommend that we Campaign on that. We should find a way to technically dissolve those companies they shared among themselves. There is no way you can industrialize a nation without providing electricity.

“So many industries in Kaduna, Ikeja and other parts of the country. What were they doing for 16 years? That is why we believe that President Buhari is the best person to lead us and got him elected in 2015.

“They said he will die, but he did not die and is back hale and healthy and when they saw seriousness on his part, they now said he was cloned. That is because they know so much about forgery. I am glad he told them he is real. They exist to lie.

“Take their new found Jehovah Witness, former President Obasanjo. After they disgraced the office of the President, fighting in public and abusing each other, telling us how they stole money and dancing Unclad in the market square, Obasanjo said he has spoken to God never to allow Atiku to become President.

“Which God is he now talking to, to say Atiku should be President? I believe he is not telling the truth and not to the God we know. He is just talking to himself.

We have sacrificed too much under the PDP and we cannot go back.

“People must ask you why you belong to this support group. Tell them that you are members of a very committed rescue mission that started in 2015. I remember how things were. So, remind them of what happened because they can’t shut us up.

“They had the best opportunity for prosperity, but they are now complaining. They were there for 16 years and never added one barrel capacity to the refineries in Nigeria. They didn’t even pay counterpart funding for our rail, electricity and we cannot industrialist a nation without the power source.

“I stand before you as a very proud individual. When I introduced Independent power generation to fire the industries at Ikeja industrial estate, they killed it because there was bribe under the table.

“Imagine what Buhari is doing today in rail and in feeding our children which creates opportunity for the farmers, it creates small scale business for those cooking the food and a lot of people involved are doing better and we are battling poverty with the best weapon which is education.

“They are busy changing parties and that is why they are confused. Atiku is now PDP Aladdin. He is going to create 14 million jobs and I say how? They will turn Atlantic into fuel to crash the prices without the refineries working and the population is expanding and people must move around. He just talks of crashing the prices of fuel. They are lying again because a leopard cannot change its skin.

“They had 16 billion of unprecedented resources and yet, they didn’t bring power to Nigeria. They invested that money in their personal industries. They bought turbines from General Electric and did it add one pipe line to bring gas to the plant.

“They can say anything now about Buhari. I agree with Okonjo Iweala that it is difficult to fight corruption. The agents of destruction are there fighting us, but we will win with strong determination.

“Don’t let them sweep things under the carpet that when we came in as a government, before then they had too much resources in their hands, but Buhari funded states to pay salaries. In that period, 27 states were unable to pay salaries as at May 2015. The states and local economy would have collapsed long time ago.

“If PDP members truly love this country, those should humbly step aside and allow Buhari continue with the work of addressing the ills in our nation. However, since they seem to obstruct and remain focus as applicants, we say no job for them.

“No matter what they say, don’t listen to them, don’t kind them. What they want is to continue to distract with the talk of rigging because they know that they are losing. They want to blackmail INEC and the police. I remember my own election for my second term.

“On the website of INEC, they announced a funny result, but a woman of great character who was the State Resident Electoral Commissioner said no, the result she got from the field are the valid results and not the fake ones published and upheld our election. They know they cannot win.

“That is why all the noise from either Saraki, a man who used our mandate to negotiate and give lifeline to the opposition. Leadership is about character. How can he now ask us to vote for PDP. he left the PDP, joined us, got elected, got our mandate, our majority and sold it for a lot of portage. God is honest, Saraki is not.

“They talk about farmers and herders clashes. If they are honest, they should know that it also happened during their time, but they have no way of thinking; they have no capacity to convert tragedy into economic prosperity. We have the capacity in this country to do irrigation and utilize our water resources, to create pastures and ranches so that we can convert those miseries, that tragedy to opportunity for our people. Livestock is economy.

“It is not about intellectual talent alone. There are so many unrewarded talents across the world. It is about character, determination, the love of a country and our commitment to nation building. That is what PDP is opposed to and APC is determined to continue as a progressive entity and the man to lead the nation on that part is President Buhari. Tell Nigerians that after Moses crossed the Red Sea, he is not going to return to Egypt.”

The rate of murder and ritual killings in Delta state seems to be on the rise as residents are calling on the government to do something to stop the menace.

An elderly woman miraculously escaped death on Saturday, November 1, after she was attacked by a man on her way to farm in Sapele area of Delta state.

The widow was on her bicycle when she was reportedly attacked by the man who used a plank to hit her down before using a cutlass to strike her.

According to journalist Sapele Oghenek, after striking the woman down, the attacker made an attempt to cut off her head before she raised an alarm and screamed loudly.

Her scream made the attacker to flee and abandon his mission as she sustained a deep cut on her face following the first machete strike.

It was gathered that the case was reported to the police and vigilante operatives who allegedly asked the old woman to bring N15,000 so that they can arrest the suspect.

At at yesterday, the woman's bicycle was still at the scene of the crime.

Amid rising tensions with the US, Iran launched a new stealth destroyer that it says

Amid rising tensions with the US, Iran launched a new stealth destroyer that it says can evade radar at sea

DUBAI (Reuters) - Iran's navy on Saturday launched a domestically made destroyer, which state media said has radar-evading stealth properties, as tensions rise with arch-enemy, the United States.
In a ceremony carried live on state television, the Sahand destroyer — which can sustain voyages lasting five months without resupply — joined Iran's regular navy at a base in Bandar Abbas on the Gulf.
The Sahand has a flight deck for helicopters, torpedo launchers, anti-aircraft and anti-ship guns, surface-to-surface and surface-to-air missiles and electronic warfare capabilities, state television reported.
President Donald Trump pulled out of an international agreement on Iran's nuclear program in May and reimposed sanctions on Tehran. He said the deal was flawed because it did not include curbs on Iran's development of ballistic missiles or its support for proxies in Syria, Yemen, Lebanon and Iraq.

The United States has said its goal is to reduce Iran's oil exports to zero. Senior Iranian officials have said that if Iran is not allowed to export then no other countries will be allowed to export oil through the Strait of Hormuz at the mouth of the Gulf.
"This vessel is the result of daring and creative design relying on the local technical knowledge of the Iranian Navy... and has been built with stealth capabilities," Rear Adm. Alireza Sheikhi, head of the navy shipyards that built the destroyer, told the state news agency IRNA.
Iran launched its first locally made destroyer in 2010 as part of a program to revamp its navy equipment which dates from before the 1979 Islamic revolution and is mostly US-made.
Iran has developed a large domestic arms industry in the face of international sanctions and embargoes that have barred it from importing many weapons.
Separately, a naval commander said Sahand may be among warships that Iran plans to send on a mission to Venezuela soon.

"Among our plans in the near future is to send two or three vessels with special helicopters to Venezuela in South America on a mission that could last five months," Iran's deputy navy commander, Rear Adm. Touraj Hassani Moqaddam, told the semi-official news agency Mehr.
Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said last week Iran should increase its military capability and readiness to ward off enemies, in a meeting with Iranian navy commanders.
Iran's navy has extended its reach in recent years, launching vessels in the Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Aden to protect Iranian ships from Somali pirates operating in the area. Last week, Iran's navy said it launched two more mini-submarines, one of which had been overhauled. Mini-subs are used for short missions.

The chief of staff of the Iranian armed forces said in 2016 that Iran may seek to set up naval bases in Yemen or Syria in the future, raising the prospect of distant footholds perhaps being more valuable militarily to Tehran than nuclear technology.

Egyptian Actress Could Face Prison Time For Revealing Red Carpet Dress
[Image: d5ba9364a97a3ea6dcf0debe64ad2f7b]View photos
Egyptian actress Rania Youssef is facing public obscenity charges after walking the red carpet of the Cairo International Film Festival in a see-through dress that revealed her legs.
Egypt is a conservative country that has a large Muslim population and Youssef’s revealing dress is a no-no. Even though it was only her legs that were revealed, it is considered obscene. Pictures of her dress were posted on social media and immediately received backlash. She is set to go on trial on January 12 after a group of lawyers complained about her dress to the chief prosecutor.
She has since taken to social media to apologize. “I probably miscalculated when I chose to wear this dress,” she wrote. “It was the first time that I wore it and I did not realize it would spark so much anger…I reaffirm my commitment to the values upon which we were raised in Egyptian society.”
If Youssef is convicted, she can face up to five years in prison.

They’re officially husband and wife! Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra tied the knot at the Umaid Bhawan Palace, in the Indian city of Jodhpur, on Saturday, and on Sunday Chopra shared more photos from the festivities. In an Instagram slideshow, the former Quantico star posted photos and video of their friends and family dancing and clapping at one of their pre-wedding ceremonies.
As Chopra explained in her Instagram caption, the new pics are from her and Jonas’s Sangeet on Friday night. “Nick and I were looking forward to the Sangeet (musical evening), another pre-wedding ritual … and to see what each side had put together,” the actress wrote in her post. She added that while the evening was a competition between her family and Jonas’s, it was really “a huge celebration of love” in the end.

One of the photos Chopra posted shows Jonas alongside his brothers, Joe, Kevin and Frankie. People reports that the Jonas brothers even sang at the event. Chopra’s Instagram video shows Joe holding a microphone at one point, but the video features Volunteer’s song “Deep Into the Wild,” so fans can’t hear what was actually played and performed on Friday night.
The actress also shared several pictures of her family dancing, as well as one of Nick busting a move. And in her video, there’s additional footage of the Jonas clan, as well as Joe’s fiancée, Sophie Turner, clapping along to her family’s dancing. “We were both filled with gratitude for the effort, the love and the laughter and will carry the memories of this special evening for the rest of our lives,” Chopra wrote in her post.
On Saturday, Chopra and Jonas also revealed photos from their Mehendi ceremony. As Elle explains, the traditional Indian celebration includes the bride-to-be getting henna designs ahead of the big day.
“One of the most special things that our relationship has given us is a merging of families who love and respect each other’s faiths and cultures,” Jonas and Chopra wrote in their Instagram caption. “And so planning our wedding with an amalgamation of both was so so amazing. An important part for the girl in an Indian wedding is the Mehendi. Once again we made it our own, and it was an afternoon that kicked off the celebrations in the way we both dreamed.”

The couple had two wedding ceremoniesPeople noted: a traditional Indian ceremony and a Western ceremony. During the Christian wedding ceremony on SaturdayChopra and Jonas wore Ralph Lauren outfits, as did their wedding party.

Nigerians Should Pray For APC To Leave In 2019 –Ezeife
User Avatar Forum: News

By Temidayo Akinsuyi

Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeife, former governor of Anambra state recently clocked 80 years. In this exclusive interview with TEMIDAYO AKINSUYI in his Asokoro, Abuja residence, he shares his thoughts on the state of the nation and the 2019 general elections. Excerpts:

Congratulations sir on your 80th birthday. What are your thoughts on Nigeria?

My perspective on Nigeria at my 80th Birthday is that it is a monumental failure. This is not the Nigeria for which I led a carol on the night of our independence. I was a headmaster of a small school but I organised a night carol on the day of our independence. We walked around on foot, making merry and praising God. This is not the Nigeria which we celebrated then. That Nigeria ended in 1966 and that is why some older people like us are talking about restructuring. In 1954, our founding fathers chose a structure for Nigeria. It was a federal system with regions as federating units. In those days, Obafemi Awolowo could do what he liked; the same with Nnamdi Azikiwe, Ahmadu Bello and so on. The result was clear. The World Bank made a statement about Nigeria. During that period, the World Bank said parts of Nigeria were growing faster than the rest of the world. That is because of the structure which enabled the regions to grow at their own pace and made what is happening in the regions belong to the people of the region. I pay tax, you pay tax and there is nothing else except our taxes. So, anybody whether a Premier or Governor knows that he is investing the money of our sweat. Now, things have changed. The Prime Minister of Britain, Theresa May came and said Nigeria is now the poverty capital in the world; the leader of poverty. We couldn’t challenge her because she said the truth. Nigeria which produced things and we were referred as the fastest growing in the world is now referred to as the leader of poverty.

What do you think has changed between then and now?

What changed was that that structure agreed by our founding fathers was junked. Because of the coup, there was a threat of war and we literally fought war. The Nigerian military naturally wanted something that is fast in defeating Biafra, so they said one way to defeat Biafra easily was to isolate the Igbo from the rest of the South East. So, they decided to create states leading to the creation of 12 states. Therefore they succeeded really in isolating the Igbo. It would have been alright if after the war we had gone back to the regions, but we didn’t. Instead, the Northern leaders of Nigeria were creating states and local governments without giving any attention to fairness. We ended up with 36 states and 774 local governments. The military did not care, they just allow things to go the way they chose because they are a unitary government and therefore, they wanted everything centred in the capital. So, Nigeria collapsed. As I said it and I am now reiterating it, the military who ruled Nigeria ruined the country. Now, we have no choice if we want Nigeria to progress, we must restructure and allow Nigeria to go back to the agreed structure.

One of the agenda on the manifesto of the APC is the issue of restructuring. Why do you think the ruling party has refused to do that almost four years after being in government?

Well, I don’t know. APC and Buhari their presidential candidate made many promises. At one stage, people were even joking with their name saying ‘APC means All Promises Cancelled’. So, APC made promises it did not keep. They promised change, but there was change from frying pan to fire. Exchange rate, petrol price and every other things they promised they will do, they did not do. We thought they understood what they were saying about restructuring and therefore they will go ahead and do it. When they did not restructure and are even opposed to it, it becomes clear that APC is not for the strength of Nigeria. So, we of the South- East, South- South, South- West and Middle Belt have decided that we will support the candidate who is serious about restructuring. It is one of the reasons why Atiku is the first. Atiku started with the agitation for restructuring before me and before most of us. But we hear that he may not do it after he has been elected. We believe that it is a campaign of calumny against him. But if we give him six months and he doesn’t do it, we begin to fight him. I had a meeting with the Middle Belt just before you came in and we agreed on one thing. We will support Atiku all the way but if after six months he has done nothing about restructuring, we begin to fight him all the way.

The APC is telling the people of the South East to support President Buhari now and get the presidency in 2023, do you see them fulfilling this promise when the time comes?

I was a guest on a programme at Arise Television and somebody asked me that question. The major problem I have is that I believe in the restructuring of Nigeria, therefore, the permanence of one Nigeria is my interest. The way Nigeria is going now, there can be no guarantee that Nigeria will survive another two years. If Nigeria does not survive another two years, what then is the use of Igbo presidency by 2023? There will be no Nigeria to govern. Therefore anybody telling you about 2023 must be joking because Nigeria may not last till that time.

Do you think this is what IPOB led by Nnamdi Kanu is agitating for, that is the restructuring of Nigeria?

Yes but I don’t understand everything about IPOB. For example, they said no elections in 2019. Is it for Buhari to continue in office or what is the reason for that? They said no election in Anambra. I tried to come in and convince them about it. If Nnamdi Kanu were around, I will like to have a conversation with him because he is spoiling his name by talking about no election.

The election is around the corner and there is an upsurge in insecurity, do you think this may affect the elections?

That is what I am telling you that our country may not last beyond 2021 or 2022. Therefore we should all pray for peace to return for Nigeria to survive and for APC to go. I am not a member of PDP or APC but I always like to tell the truth. The APC has failed completely. There is no need to pretend. It is total failure and that is not good for Nigeria. Anybody who is a good Nigerian will not want this party to continue.

South African telecoms firm, MTN Group and Nigeria’s Central Bank are in talks to settle an $8.1 billion dispute, their lawyers said on Tuesday, as a court in Lagos adjourned the case between the parties until Dec. 12.

The dispute is over the transfer of $8.1 billion of funds which Nigeria’s central bank said the company had sent abroad in breach of foreign-exchange regulations. MTN has denied any wrongdoing, Reuters reports.

Nigeria is MTN’s biggest market, accounting for a third of the South African company’s annual core profit. The mobile phone network serves 56 million people in Nigeria.

Seyi Sowemino, a lawyer representing Nigeria’s central bank, said the parties were in advanced stages towards the settlement. “We just want to cross T’s and dot I’s,” he told the court.

Wole Olanipekun, a lawyer representing MTN, also said the two parties were in talks.

The lawyers requested a short adjournment for lawyers to report back to the court on the settlement talks. The judge adjourned the case to Dec. 12.

Opposition will collapse, Buhari will win presidency – Economist
Tuesday, December 04, 2018  politics

Nigerian opposition coalition may collapse before the 2019 general election and give way for the the re-emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The respected and world renowned media outfit, Economist, is reported by the Nation to have made the prediction in its latest edition.

The prediction has incurred the wrath of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, who on Monday described the forecast of the London-based magazine as failing to meet the attributes of objectivity, balance and fairness.

In The Economist latest edition, “The World in 2019”, there is little hope that Islamist insurgency in the Northeast will end.

Appraising Nigeria, the magazine said: “The president, Muhammadu Buhari, will win re-election in February, as a new opposition coalition may collapse before the vote.

“Given the outlook for continuing political weakness, there is little prospect of progress in the fight against the Islamist insurgency in the north, nationalism in the oil-producing Delta and secessionism in the Biafra region.

“Market-based reforms will languish, holding back growth yet again.”

The magazine’s other predictions for Nigeria are: GDP growth (1.9%); GDP per head-$2, 410(PPP: $6,020); inflation (13.6%); Budget balance (5GDP) is -2.0 and population (201.0m). Nation

Twitter is awash with the prediction and the reaction by Atiku Abubakar.

Luka Modric wins Ballon d'Or 2018 to end Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi's 10-year duopoly.

The Real Madrid midfielder won the ultimate award, outshining his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, who now plays for Juventus.

Ronaldo ranks second, followed by Antoine Griezmann who led France to World Cup trophy.

Another 5-time winner Lionel Messi sits only at 5th, behind PSG star Kylianm Mbappe.

Modric has made a perfect performance in the past year. He led Real Madrid to win the 3rd straight Champions League Championship and guided Croatia to the final in 2018 World Cup.

The Croatian being crowned the FIFA Best Men's Player of the Year has significantly changed the football landscape, becoming the first non-Messi or Ronaldo player since Kaka in 2007 to lift such an award. Besides, Modric was chosen in FIFA/FIFPro World XI, and won FIFA Golden Ball and UEFA Best Player.

Former Aviation minister, Femi Fani-kayode has revealed what the catholic church must do to the spiritual director of Adoration Ministries, Father Ejike Mbaka for embarrassing ex-governor of Anambra state and current PDP Vice-presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for not donating to his church during a Bazaar.

Fani-Kayode expressed his displeasure at the Priest via a post on his social media page. He wrote;

"I am disgusted by the words of Father Mbaka. It does not matter to me which candidate he supports but what galls me is his begging for money from both sides in return for favourable prophesies.

This is disgraceful and his superiors in the Catholic Church should call him to order."

Buhari Attends Conference of The Parties Under The UN Convention In Climate Change

President Muhammadu Buhari, Monday in Katowice, Poland, said no country can confront climate change alone, urging UN-member countries to rededicate themselves to the task of rebuilding and restoring a healthy environment for future generations.

In an address to the opening session of United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP24), President Buhari warned that the challenges of climate change, including rising temperatures, desertification, floods, low agricultural yields and drying up of water bodies, are enormous and evident to all.

Citing the receding Lake Chad, the President noted that the effects of climate change are felt more on the vulnerable communities who lacked the capacity and technology to properly address such challenges.

‘‘Obviously, no country can confront the phenomenon alone. In this regard, Nigeria believes in joint and cooperative efforts to tackle the problem.

‘‘We urge that efforts to address the challenges of climate change be pursued within multilateral frameworks. Concerted efforts should be made to strengthen sub-regional and regional organizations, to serve as hubs for Climate Action and partnership,’’ the Nigerian leader said at the International Conference Centre, Katowice.

Speaking specifically on Lake Chad, the President reaffirmed that Nigeria remains committed to saving the Lake, which is a source of livelihood to 40 million people, from extinction.

He said Nigeria would build on the success of an International Conference held earlier in February this year in Abuja to create additional awareness globally on the serious environmental and security challenges facing the Lake Chad region.

The President told COP 24 Summit, attended by world leaders and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, that a consensus was reached at the Abuja Conference that an inter-basin water transfer from the Congo Basin remains the most sustainable option available to resuscitate and safeguard this precious water body that was once the 6th largest fresh water Lake in the world.

On behalf of the Member Countries of the Lake Chad Basin Commission, the President thanked the Italian Government for donating 1.5 million Euros towards completion of the feasibility studies on the proposed inter-basin water transfer project.

‘‘I once again call on the international community to support this worthy project, for the benefit of nearly 40 million people that depend on the Lake for their livelihood, and to guarantee future security of the region.

‘‘I would like to reiterate Nigeria’s commitment to constructively supporting multilateral action aimed at addressing climate change.

‘‘We must rededicate ourselves to the task of rebuilding and restoring the healthy environment we inherited for future generations,’’ he said.

President Buhari also used the occasion to highlight what Nigeria had done and is doing on climate change after the adoption of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change in 2015.

‘‘We in Nigeria have commenced the implementation of our Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

‘‘In the next 15 years, we aim to achieve 20% emissions reduction below Business as Usual (BAU) and 45% emissions reduction with the support of our international partners by 2030.

‘‘Our efforts include the review and introduction of new responsive Legislation/policies, strengthening institutional and manpower capacities, and encouraging gradual transition to low carbon economy.

‘‘Nigeria has also recently ratified the Doha Amendment and will soon deposit the instrument for ratification,’’ he said.

The President pledged that Nigeria will continue to pursue industrialization and economic development, with sound environmental management and best practices.

He added that Nigeria has unlocked the potential of its sovereign green bond to galvanize private capital to finance environmentally sustainable projects.

‘‘In support of our NDC aspiration, we have embraced the issuance of green bond as an innovative and alternative source of funding projects that would reduce emissions and provide robust climate infrastructure like renewable energy, low carbon transport, water infrastructure and sustainable agriculture that our country needs,’’ he said.

Furthermore, the President told the summit Nigeria believes that technology can be a powerful solution for simultaneously addressing climate change and advancing development, stressing the need for developed countries to accelerate the finance for research and development, in addition to promoting access to climate-friendly technologies.

‘‘In addition, there is the need to raise global climate action in the pre-2020 period, in terms of mitigation, adaptation and means of implementation.

‘‘For us in Nigeria, we are promoting technologies and practices such as sustainable land management, climate resilient agriculture, water efficiency and clean energy.

‘‘We have also developed insurance-based initiatives to deal with loss and damage, as well as adaptation to internally acceptable practices,’’ he said.

The President commended the Government and People of Poland for hosting the 24th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in the ‘‘beautiful city of Katowice.’’

At the formal opening of COP24, President Andrzej Duda of Poland had told delegates that the conference is taking place on the exact location where a coal mine was once operated, adding that Katowice is now one of the greenest cities in Poland.

President Buhari held bilateral meetings at the sidelines of the 24th Session of the Conference.

As many as four tenants have reportedly exhumed their dead landlord's corpse, selling off his property in Lagos.[Image: Nigeria-Police.jpg]
Four tenants, who allegedly exhumed the corpse of their landlord before selling his property were on Monday brought in a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, Vanguard reports.

The three accused men and a woman are – Silifatu Abisile, 60; Jimoh Abisile, 52; Gbade Bakare, 56; and Isaiah Bakare, 45.

The accused are facing a five-count charge of conspiracy, kidnapping, breach of peace, forgery and false assumption of authority.

Police Prosecutor Williams Ologun told the court that the accused committed the offences on Nov. 1, at Ishola Daniel str., in Oshodi area of Lagos. Ologun alleged that the accused had conspired to illegally sell the house they were living in which did not belong to them. He said that a prospective buyer had insisted they relocated the grave that was in front of the house before he would make payments.

“My Lord, they forged an exhumation of corpse permit from Oshodi -Isolo Local Government and dug the corpse of the house owner, Sumonu Bakare, who was buried in the compound.
“They also kidnapped the only son of the deceased; Gbenro Bakare, who is crippled, thinking he was the only surviving child of the deceased,” he said.

Ologun said that the first and second accused’ were relations of the deceased, while the third and fourth accused were long time tenants on the property. He said that the third and fourth accused had registered for change of name to ‘Bakare’, which was not their real names, claiming to be the children of the deceased.

The offences contravened Sections76 (1) [c], 168 (1) [d], 271 (1), 365 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Peter Ojo, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two sureties each in like sum. In his ruling, Ojo insisted that one of each accused sureties must be a blood relation and must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction.

He said each of the sureties must also show evidence of three years tax payment to the Lagos Government and be gainfully employed.

Ojo adjourned the case until Jan. 10 for trial.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Adekunle Temitope, popularly known as Small Doctor, for unlawful possession of firearms and for allegedly threatening to shoot a police officer.

Edgal Imohimi, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, revealed this to the press on Monday while parading the musician along with three other persons.

Small Doctor was arrested on allegations that he threatened a Police officer who was on traffic duty along Oshodi, Lagos.

“It was alleged that some unknown men, four of them, in an unregistered green SUV had brought out a gun and threatened a policeman that if he does not leave the road, they will shoot him,"  Imohimi said.

"Believing that they were armed robbers, I sent out my men and fortunately, with the DPO in charge of Shogunle division, they were able to intercept them and the men were arrested and were brought down to the headquarters for interrogation.

“It was then discovered that one of them is the same Adekunle Temitope, a.k.a. 'Small Doctor'. They were arrested in possession of a functional rifle, cartridge and some of their personal belongings."

According to the commissioner, 'Small Doctor' had earlier been involved in a similar offence and is currently under investigation for firing live ammunition at the Agege stadium after a show on November 27.

He said: “Adekunle Temitope, a.k.a. 'Small Doctor', was arrested and taken to the state CID for questioning. He was alleged to have fired a gun; the pellets from the gun injured four people who were rushed to the hospital.”

'Small Doctor' will be charged to court for prosecution.

Asari Dokubo Slams Nnamdi Kanu Over 2019 Elections, Blasts 'Buhari Double'

Ex-Niger-Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo, has expressed his disagreement with Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), over his call for the boycott of the 2019 general elections by the Southeast and South-south region.

Dokubo made his views known in a six minutes video which surfaced on the social media on Monday.

Kanu had over the weekend urged IPOB supporters and sympathizers in the two geopolitical zones to shun the 2019 general election unless the Federal Government announced a date for Biafra referendum.

Reacting to the call, Dokubo argued that heeding Kanu’s advice was suicidal since it would be tantamount to empowering those opposed to the Biafra aspirations with resources from the national treasury to frustrate the people’s struggle.

He went further to point out that pro-independent agitators in Spain, Ireland and Palestine contested elections and won seats into political offices in a bid to push their agenda rather than boycott general elections in their respective nations.

His words: “Fellow Biafrans and compatriots, our goal is the freedom of our motherland. It is not about the celebration and deification of individuals. It is not about the appropriation of our collective struggle by an individual, group of individuals or an organisation. The Biafra struggle is for the freedom of all Biafrans.

“But we have to clear some misconceptions. These misconceptions is that people who are fighting for freedom do not get involved in political participations.

“Let us come to the touching issue of election boycott. It is standing history on its head to say that we should boycott elections.

“In Catalan, the pro-Catalan independent party is contesting election even after the imperialists Spanish government dissolved (Catalan) parliament and government and cancelled elections. But they still contested and won election and are in power.

“The pro-independent Scottish party is contesting election; they continue to contest election and control the government of Scotland.

“The pro-independent Northern Ireland Party, the Irish Republican Army thought its political wing is contesting elections.

“Hamas who are pro-independent parties or organization in Palestine are contesting elections.

“How can you give resources to empower the hands of the enemies of our struggle? I am not from Anambra state but if we had gone to vote in Anambra, Obiano would not be there (as governor).

“Obiano is an enemy of our people. Today he has sold our land to General Muhammadu Buhari or his double that is in Aso Rock because I do not believe the man in Aso Rock is General Muhammadu Buhari.

“When people tell us the truth, we don’t want to accept. We want to impose our will which is not working and is anti-our people.

“We frighten our people, run away from soldiers, we run away from occupation forces, we run away from police. Why would we do that? Who are we deceiving?

“Finally, no outsider can give us freedom. They have not done it anywhere. It is we, with our own show of valour and commitment, can give is freedom.”

Buhari Will Fight To Have A Better Senate In 2019 – Tinubu
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 12-04-2018, 10:34 AM - No Replies

The senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District, Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed the belief that President Muhammadu Buhari will work hard to ensure that the nation has a better Senate in the 9th Assembly.

Quote:She said it was important for the President to do so in order to forestall a repeat of the present situation in which she said the upper chamber of the National Assembly was populated by some people who are frustrating Buhari’s efforts aimed at repositioning the country.

Tinubu spoke in Lagos on Saturday during a media luncheon where she unveiled her plans for the senatorial district for 2019-2023.

While responding to questions from journalists on the strained relationship between the legislative and executive arms of government, she said some members of the 8th Assembly were bent on frustrating Buhari’s programmes.

She said she was sure that Buhari would not want a repeat of what he witnessed with members of the present National Assembly.

She, therefore, urged Nigerians to re-elect Buhari for another term in order to complete his task.

Tinubu also called on Nigerians not to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party because the main opposition party was responsible for the hardships currently being experienced in the country.

She said Buhari would have learnt in his three and a half years in office that his inaugural statement that “I belong to everybody and I belong to nobody” was not exactly the way he thought.

She said, “I believe the President would have learnt a thing or two because when he came in, he said ‘I belong to everybody and belong to nobody.’ But I know by now that he knows those people that belong to him.

“What I am saying is not to take the President’s comment for granted, but now, I am sure he knows that some Nigerians are very dangerous to his decisions, even moving forward. The President should know those who are his own by now.

“It is a lesson to him and I know that he would fight to ensure that we have a better Senate in the 9th Assembly, not what we have now with a set of people who are frustrating his efforts. I do not think he would want to go through that route again.”

Tinubu said a term of four years was not enough for the President, hence the need for Nigerians to give the ruling All Progressives Congress another chance in 2019.

“Nigerians should give the APC another chance in 2019; four years is not enough for a President to complete his task, he is not a magician. We did not get to where we are overnight,” she said.

Speaking on her plan to return to the Senate, Tinubu said the leaders of her senatorial district convinced her to seek re-election.

“I am doing a third term because the leaders of my district asked me to contest. Beyond that, there is so much more to be done.

“I have shown through our quarterly town hall meetings that power belongs to and rests with the people. This third term is thus a chance to consolidate on previous achievements.

“To ensure that the third term is even more productive, we have set out to focus more on empowering our youths and finding ways to make them self-reliant.

“Through our quarterly town hall meetings, 27 in the series, I have been able to bond more effectively with our constituents,” she added.

Unilorin Student Commits Suicide Over Failure Of Project
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 12-04-2018, 10:32 AM - Replies (1)

A student of the University of Ilorin in his mid-20s, name withheld, has reportedly committed suicide at the weekend over unmet academic expectation.
Tribune Online gathered that the deceased, from the Faculty of Agriculture, had failed in his final year project the last session and was made to repeat the current one.
It was also gathered that the deceased student decided to take his life because he could no longer achieve the Second Class Upper Division grade which he had expected to make in his final year result.

The deceased was said to have died after he drank a pesticide called Sniper.

An indication for reason behind the suicide was obtained in a note which the deceased left behind on a social media, indicating that he had been accused of ‘copy and paste,’ a reference to plagiarism in research works. Some neighbours also said that the deceased had all along suffered depression since he failed to make the last 34th graduation list of the institution.

The incident had reportedly happened last Thursday night at Oke-Odo community, a student-populated area in Ilorin metropolis, however, the corpse was only discovered on Saturday morning after neighbours noticed foul smell oozing out of his room. His bloated body was, however, found on the floor when the door was eventually broken.

Sources in the community said that the deceased had communicated his intention to end his life to a female friend who however pleaded with him to have a rethink and face the challenge like most other men in life.

According to available records from his social media interactions, the deceased had uploaded a picture of the Sniper on his WhatsApp page at about 5.14 pm last Thursday, some two hours after he had lamented online about his situation to his friend.

He had opened the conversation at about 3.39 pm when he said in short statements: “same research work, he said I did copy and paste. Ever since den, things changed from bad to worst. Am in a deep mess @the moment. My life don tire me. I feel like dying. I wish I can sleep and not wake up again.”

His friend, however, responded with words of encouragement, “Don’t give up bros, it gets better.” And as if he had accepted the admonition, the deceased had then responded, “I pray xo, Thanks a lot for ur concern. I appreciate a lot. May God continue to bless you. Amen.”

However, by the time he uploaded the Sniper picture, his friend apparently became frantic and pleaded with him not to take any wrong step. The friend said: “Abeg, Calm Down. Abeg you in the name of God. Nothing Happen wey God no know about ooo please don’t do anything stupid ooooo.”

When contacted, director of information for the university, Mr Kunle Akogun, said that he was not aware of the incident. Also, Police public relations officer (PPRO), of the state command, Ajayi Okasanmi, said that his office was also yet to be briefed but promised to get in touch with the appropriate quarters on the development.

Morning Devotional For Tuesday 4th December
User Avatar Forum: Daily Devotions
Posted by: Edoman - 12-04-2018, 10:12 AM - Replies (4)

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

TUESDAY, 4TH DECEMBER.

ONLY BY THE SPIRIT.

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God (1 Corinthians 2:12).

Part of the ministry of the Holy Spirit in your life is to unveil your inheritance to you; to show you the things which are freely given to you by the Father. He’s the only one that knows your inheritance enough to make them available to you. For example, the Bible says God has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ (Ephesians 1:3). You can only know what these spiritual blessings are by the Holy Spirit!

How do you describe spiritual blessings? How do you identify them? What do they look like? How can you tell what’s from God, and what’s not from Him? It’s only by the Holy Spirit! That’s what we read in our theme scripture. The ensuing verse says, “Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth…” (1 Corinthians 2:13). In other words, these spiritual blessings are made manifest through the language of the Spirit; words inspired in us by the Holy Spirit.

For example, when you say you’re born again, man’s wisdom thinks you mean you’ve turned over a new leaf, or you’ve merely changed your ways of doing things, but no; it’s much more profound than that! It means you’ve become a new creation; one with God; an associate of the God-kind. This isn’t a piece of information for the intellect or from the intellect, but a revelation of the Spirit; an esoteric insight unveiled to your spirit by the Holy Spirit. Hallelujah!

Life in its fullness, peace, righteousness, divine healing, health, prosperity, forgiveness, fellowship with the Father and with the Son Jesus Christ, are among God’s glorious blessings given to you to enjoy freely. The Holy Spirit came, not only to reveal these blessings to you, but also to teach you to walk in the fullness of the blessings of the Gospel. Recognise His ministry in your life and He’ll lead and guide you in the transcendent life in Christ.

PRAYER

Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, by whom I’m made aware, and take advantage of all that you’ve granted me in Christ Jesus. I walk in the fullness of the blessings of the Gospel; nothing good is withheld from me; I have all things that pertain to life and godliness, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

John 14:26 But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, [that] shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

4TH DECEMBER.

I affirm that the Spirit of God has separated me from the destruction that ruins men’s lives and the judgment that works in the lives of men, having been identified with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. I am like a tree planted by the waters, ever in blossom. I flourish like the palm tree, with grace and glory! My life is upgraded and programmed by the Word and

I am living a life that is full of possibilities. I am in Christ; therefore, I see life differently, I see all trials and challenges that come my way as bread.

Hallelujah! No force has the ability to defeat me or throw me off balance because greater is He that lives in me than he that is in the world. I am more than a conqueror, and I live each day with confidence, knowing that all of heaven and
the power of divinity are working for me, and for my good. I am a burning and a shining light; fervent in spirit, serving the Lord.

Lady Implicates Aisha Buhari Sister Maryatu, Babchir Lawal In N50 Million Fraud

@POLITICSNGR

A Lady simply identified as Amina Mohammed caused a mild drama at the office of the department of state security services, DSS in Abuja earlier today.

PoliticsNGR learned that the lady accused of impersonating the first lady, Aisha Buhari, shocked the press and officials of the DSS when she mentioned the First lady's sister and former SGF, Babachir lawal as accomplices in the Fraud.

Addressing journalists, Public Relations Officer of the service, Peter Afunaya, said the DSS arrested the suspect, Amina Mohammed also known as Justina Oluoha, for parading herself as the First Lady of Kogi State.

He said Amina defrauded one Dr. Alexander Chika Okafor (a.k.a. Chicason) of N50million in the villa with respect to a Court of Appeal property in Lagos. He added that Amina had promised to help him buy the property through the First Lady.

The property was said to have been part of those under the Presidential Implementation Committee on Lease of Federal Government Properties.

"She used the false identity to evade protocol and security scrutiny, thus gaining unauthorised access into the villa and particularly the residence of the First Lady and Wife of the President, Hajia Aisha Buhari," he said.

"She took advantage of the fact that personalities of first ladies, ministers and certain categories of officials are not known through rigorous protocol and security checks at the Villa posts.

"Investigations have shown that this unholy enterprise is not to the knowledge of the First Lady. What Amina simply did was to use the First Lady's name and office as bait to lure and defraud her victims."

The suspect, on the other hand, was crying profusely and raining curses on the first lady. She said;

"Your sisters are involved in this business. It is not true; I cannot be a fraudster. I cannot accept this allegation. Former SGF Babachir is involved in this fraud. Maryatu, your sister, is involved in this fraud.

"Chicason has been buying government property and he has been doing it. All the directors who collected bribes before bidding would be out. Chikason knows the process. Entering villa is not just by fraud but Maryatu, the First Lady's sister, is involved."

According to reports, the vehicle which they were travelling with was said to have been involved in a serious crash before it went up in flames and burnt most of the occupants.

The passengers were burnt beyond recognition before help could arrive.

Combating extortion and touting at immigration offices – Ikoyi passport office experience

RECENTLY, Nigerianflightdeck.com visited the Ikoyi Passport office of the Nigeria Immigration Service described as the most sensitive passport office in the country and noted some positive changes against the norm, this led our correspondent to dig deeper and uncover what has caused the transformation in a place that used to be crowded with people touting and others trying to extort you.

An unsuspecting source, immigration officer ( name withheld) that we spoke to covertly at the SERVICOM desk did her job too perfectly and innocently furnished our correspondent with virtually all the information we needed while not being aware she was being recorded.

Our reporter noticed the hitherto crowded gate filled with officers at the access point before you go through screening was bare with just two immigration police who courteously asked what we came for, to which we said to acquire a passport, we were let through.

The Comptroller General of National Immigration Service ( NIS), Muhammad Babandede had in July 27, visited the Ikoyi Passport office and spoke on reforms, giving stern warnings on extortion and touting at the offices.

One of his directives was the end to cash transactions at all immigration offices, warning service men that if caught with cash it will be used as exhibit for their punishment.

Quote:He said then, ” since we started the e-passport 10 years ago, the payment has been by hand and for us to be in line with the directive of Mr. President on corruption, our officers must not have access to cash. If they do not see cash, they can concentrate better on the machines, they can capture people properly; service would be delivered.”

The source who spoke on what has happened since the CG’s visit said that the new team in charge took some steps that ensured that those involved in touting at the office became obsolete.

She highlighted some of the tools used to battle the existing challenges ascribing it to strategic thinking through getting the process working again and adequate communication with applicants when the need arises, providing them information that eases the process for them.

According to her you don’t need to know anyone to procure a passport document, and what is dangled about by touts is the need to get it done expressly.

Quote:“Since many think once you want to come for passport you need to know somebody, there are a lot of touting outside with promises of express jobs but when people start realizing when up go in and in a matter of tomorrow or next you have collected the passport, tactically, we edged the touts out. Because the role they were playing was because of the ‘ express factor’ so with what we did, we tactically, withdrew or edged out these categories of people.”
“From July, we have started waiting for files for people to capture and pick their passports which has not happened in five years. As long as you snap, the passport will come out, if it is not out that day it comes out the next day. So the instruction even when you go to immigration website its 72 hours but here we sort less than. If there are hitches or delays it may take longer than 72hours but once all our systems are online as it is, it’s less than 72 hours.”

She expressed sadness Nigerians feel that if you are going to an office, if you don’t know anybody, no one will answer to you stating that the mentality has created a block for people to do what’s right but said they have started combating that with enlightenment .

“we say the best thing to do is always do a morning brief by 8am every morning, our PRO gives a brief. People who come by then will be converged at our halls and briefed. ‘See these are the processes,’ telling people the procedures. If you are new, the system is cashless, don’t patronize anyone outside, come inside straight to SERVICOM, they will guide you on what to do. Morning brief takes care of enlightenment and sensitizing campaign to our prospective applicants,” she said.

Breaking down the matter of touting at the gates, our unsuspecting source explained that there was a paradigm shift which catered for the major changes including but not limited to transferring certain officers who may have been part of the problem.

“No matter how good and organised it is inside, once the gate; which is the first point an applicant will be free to form an opinion, is chaotic, his or her opinions formed from there may manifest inside. So it would have been suicidal of us to leave the gate the way it used to be,” she said.

According to her, known faces, old hands were transferred and new ones were orientated to new ideals. Plus the service reduce the number of those at the gate making it easy to identify who was doing what.

Quote:She told Nigerianflightdeck.com,” All the known faces were transferred, a new set of immigration police were brought in and this new set received simple instructions on what they should do. And the number drastically reduced because if they are many, many will now be engaged in the touting. The number was reduced and they underwent an induction training for them to know the specifics of why they are here and if you go outside the boundary of what you are supposed to do then you are on your own.”

“Some of the non officers in the place that are also involved in one thing or the other including touting were transferred out and a register is placed where any officer who does not work here must make an entry their incoming and outgoing times, so when you come today and come tomorrow you too know you need to stop coming.”

That strategically also helped us because some are old and they have spread their tentacles all over and atrocities may be committed by these people but will boomerang on us and as far as whoever is concerned, it is immigration in Ikoyi and meanwhile that officer might have been transferred two years ago or whatever, this is also another way we clamp down on the issues of extortion and touting.”

All institutions have their challenges , some more than others but with determination and set goals some if not a majority of these challenges can be addressed and so leadership and direction matters in institutions that have direct contact with the public.

The Ikoyi passport office is not there yet but is doing all it can to entrench a process that can be used nationwide to curb the menace of touting and extorting around passport offices nationwide, and if the template is improved upon and giving cash to officers completely eliminated as the Comptroller General insisted, then the process can start taking precedence.

People will get service, government will get revenue and everyone will be happy
