Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has again, raised an alarm that Fulani herdsmen are planning to kidnap, torture and kill him along the Makurdi-Lafia highway.

[font=Charter, Helvetica, 华文细黑]He said this at an interactive session with the Church, traditional rulers and other stakeholders towards achieving peaceful and successful elections in 2019, organised by the Makurdi Catholic Diocese at the Pastoral Centre in Makurdi.[/font]

Ortom hinted intelligence report available to him indicated that Fulani herdsmen in part of Guma Local Council of the state were into the assassination plot. His words: “The armed herdsmen, according to the intelligence report, would ensure that all my security aides were killed after which they would Kidnap me, torture me before killing me.

Already, l had reported the matter to the police and other security agencies.“Therefore, anytime my spirit doesn’t allow me to travel by road, I would call flight operators but just a few days ago, the Federal Government directed that flights should not land in Makurdi airport again.”While alleging further that some Benue indigenes were conniving with other forces in Abuja to kill him, Ortom urged the Federal Government to end herdsmen’s killings in the country to guarantee peaceful elections next year.

He maintained that most of the polling units in the crisis-ridden areas have been destroyed and taken over by the Fulani herdsmen as their grazing fields.

Governor Ben Ayade: My Wife Cautions Me Against Seeking Re-Election

Quote:Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has said that his wife, Dr Linda Ayade, has severally cautioned him not to think of seeking reelection next year.

He stated this on Friday when he formally commissioned the office building of the Cross River Women Emancipation Initiative (CROWEI), the umbrella body for all women associations in the state.

CROWEI was established by his wife and the building facilitated by the state Ministry for Women Affairs.

Ayade said his wife has been worried over the type of unwholesome politics played in the state, fearing that it was going to endanger him or dent his hard earned reputation.

However, his wife said that after consulting with women across the state under CROWEI, they have resolved not only to emancipate the Cross River women economically but to increase their political awareness, noting that women in the state want the governor to return for a second term.

Quote:The Inspector-General of Police, Mr .Ibrahim Idris, has ordered members of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad to wear police uniforms with full identification, pending the launch of new FSARS uniform.

The force Spokesman, Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police, Jimoh Moshood, who indicated this in a statement in Abuja on Friday, said Idris gave the order at a meeting with critical stakeholders, News Agency of Nigeria reported.

Moshood said that Idris was represented by the Deputy Inspector-General of police in Charge of Operations, Mr. Habila Joshak.

He said that the meeting was convened to brief the stakeholders on the progress made so far in the overhaul of the SARS, now known as Federal SARS.

The Police boss said that the overhaul of SARS was beyond rhetoric as strategic reforms were being implemented.

He said that the FSARS operatives had been ordered to desist from attending to civil or commercial matters henceforth and focus strictly on armed robbery and kidnapping cases only.

According to Moshood, the Commissioner of Police in charge of FSARS, Mr. Habiru Gwandu, informed the meeting that a human rights desk had been created in the 36 states of the federation and FCT.

He said that the desks would address cases of infractions against members of the public by FSARS personnel across the nation.

Gwandu added that the Police had engaged the services of psychologists and counsellors in the ongoing screening of FSARS operatives.

On his part, the DCP in charge of the I-G’s X-Squad, Amaechi Elumelu, said in the statement that the screening and mobilisation of FSARS oeratives would not be business as usual again.

He said that FSARS operatives would undergo thorough rigorous orientation including human rights training among other screening processes.

Elumelu said that the IG would soon unveil the Custody Records Management System.

He explained that this system would contain the records of arrests, detentions and welfare details of suspects.

Morning Devotional For Saturday 25th August
User Avatar Forum: Daily Devotions

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SATURDAY, 25TH AUGUST.

HIS EXTRAORDINARY COMPASSION

It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness (Lamentations 3:22-23)

Our God is gracious and kind, compassionate and full of mercy. In Psalm 78:38, the scripture doesn’t just say He has compassion, but that He’s full of it.

His compassion is inexhaustible. Compassion is a compelling force or motivation to take away the pains of another, not out of pity, but love. God demonstrated compassion when, out of love, He gave His Son, Jesus to die for the sins of the world (John 3:16).

What joy! What comfort, to know that God is never angry with you! Rather, His love and mercies toward you are fresh every morning! It reminds of the beautiful song we sing: “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they’re new every morning, great is thy faithfulness O Lord.” His tender mercies for us are everlasting; He’s always watching you, guiding you, and protecting you. He loves you infinitely (Ephesians 2:4).

To the world, He may be a God of judgment, but to you, He’s all love. He said in Jeremiah 31:3, “...Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” No wonder He tells us to approach His throne of grace with boldness and obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16). Take advantage of the grace and mercies of God.

Don’t condemn yourself because of what you did wrong, for He never condemns you: “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus…” (Romans 8:1). He sees the best in you always, and expects you to see the best in yourself and others around you as well. Paul, writing to Timothy, said, “Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 2:1). In other words, “Take advantage of the grace that is in Christ Jesus.”

You can take advantage of His grace and mercies even now, and rebuke cancer, diabetes, or any sickness or disease from your body. Recognise and take advantage of His great love and compassion and walk out of any predicament. He loves you, and has done everything necessary for you to have an excellent life. Accept nothing less.

PRAYER

Blessed Father, your goodness and mercies endure forever. Your grace and compassion are multiplied in my life; therefore, I bless your Name, and testify of your wondrous love. I thank you for your blessings, beauty, perfections, and excellence, revealed in and through me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Psalm 103:1-4 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, [bless] his holy name. 2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; 4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

Ephesians 2:4-5 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are savedWink

Luke 10:30-37 And Jesus answering said, A certain [man] went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded [him], and departed, leaving [him] half dead. 31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked [on him], and passed by on the other side. 33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion [on him], 34 And went to [him], and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave [them] to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again,

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

25TH AUGUST.

I affirm that I am an offspring of love; I have the ability to love like my heavenly Father who gave up Jesus to die for my sake. The love of God is shed abroad in my heart and I am manifesting this love, reaching out to my world with love. I refuse to allow anger, bitterness, and hatred take its root in my heart.

My life is the expressions of the Father’s will; as I seek to do only those things that are honorable and pleasing to Him, my increase, progress, and prosperity are evident for all to see. My entire being is completely yielded to be taught, inspired and strengthened under the ministry of the Word. My heart is flooded with wisdom and spiritual understanding, not just to know, but also to walk in God’s perfect will at all times. I’m in the centre of God’s will for me and I am equipped with all things that pertain to life and godliness. Hallelujah! I am filled with the fullness of God!

The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yes, I have a goodly heritage. I do not struggle nor respond in fear because God had not given unto me the spirit of fear… I have the spirit of love, power and of a sound mind. My mind is sound, and I am excellent in life! My spiritual antenna is raised and I am receiving the right signals today and always. Blessed be God!

Be careful of the decision you made today, it might hunt you tomorrow!

Just because of ethnicity and religious beliefs, Kwankwaso swept GEJ's feet out yesterday under a well planned conspiracy

Today, he needs his help to correct a mistake he made more than 3 years ago!

GEJ forgives easily while Buhari wears vengeance as cloth!

JEGA has wronged Nigerians! I hope he would apologise one day!

I hope he apologised to GEJ [Image: huh.png] A brave man is never afraid to apologise and recognise his mistakes!

Having said that they should rally round and support whomever the primaries produced!

'Invincible' Cameroonian Robbers Arrested During Raid. Photos

The Civil defence and security forces have busted a notorious robbery gang who claim to be invincible while operating.

It was gathered that two criminals including a lady who were arrested during the raid - have been terrorising some communities in Cameroon, close to Nigeria border (Cross River state).

The suspects claim to appear in the house of their victims without notice, even if occupants are in the house, they cannot be seen (so they claimed). According to them, they take whatever they want and disappear diabolically.

Acting on a tip off, the Cameroonian Civil Defense and security in the area decided to raid an old abandoned building in the outskirt of the village, where they were nabbed.

Malende and Beliki were rounded up during the raid, with lots of charms and other weapons recovered from the house. About 50 mobile phones, stolen national identity cards belonging to commuters (about 25 in number), foodstuff and other items were also recovered.

An Odeshi shrine/ juju house which they use for their diabolical activities was found destroyed by the security men.

They have been taken to the police station for further investigation.

Chinese Couple Trying To Get Pregnant Discover They’ve Been Having Anal Sex
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories

Quote:Couple desperate for a baby told they've been having sex the wrong way for 4 years - and wife is still a VIRGIN

The woman admitted sex was "usually painful" but doctors were stunned when they realised why she was not getting pregnant

A married couple desperate for a baby have been told they've been having sex the wrong way for four years - which is why they failed to concieve.

The pair who have not been named, but are aged 26 and 24, sought out professional advice after having no joy getting pregnant, despite having intercourse regularly.

But alarm bells rang when medics discovered the wife was a virgin. She then admitted sex was "usually painful" for her every time.

Obstetrician Liu Hongmei said: "The couple were very young, the man 26 and the woman 24. They were very healthy, but, despite being married for four years, couldn't conceive.

"Their family was giving them a lot of stress because of it," she added.

While asking about the wife's medical history during the visit, Liu was told that the couple had sex regularly.

The wife also revealed that the experience was "unusually painful" for her every time, but she suffered through it in the hope of becoming pregnant.

The woman's symptoms led Doctor Liu to believe that she may have had some sort of gynaecological disease.

But Liu said she was "shocked" when an examination revealed the wife to be a virgin.

According to China's Guiyang Evening Post, Liu's "experience" led her to inspect the woman's anus.

It was then that the medic is said to have learned the couple had been mistakenly having anal sex for four years, resulting in their failure to conceive.

Doctor Liu reportedly handed the couple, from Bijie city in China's south-western Guizhou province, each a sex-education handbook.

She also gave them "guidelines" before they were sent home.

The advice appeared to work, as news of the wife's pregnancy arrived just a few months later.

They reportedly informed the now retired doctor that they were finally expecting - by sending 100 eggs and a live hen as gifts to her former hospital.

Liu said: "Four years of marriage and neither the husband nor wife knew how to get pregnant. Couples so lacking in general knowledge are very rare."

She added: "But it is not uncommon for people to lack or have misconceptions regarding sexual knowledge."

APC Leadership Crisis: Buhari Berated For 'Being Weak, Losing Grip'
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 08-25-2018, 12:43 AM - No Replies

Quote:shola Michael - Bauchi

AS the leadership crisis within the ranks of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) heightens unabated, President Muhammadu Buhari has been berated for not acting firmly to save the party from imminent disintegration.

While speaking to Journalists in his residence, a member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly representing Lere/Bula constituency of Tafawa Balewa LGA, Muhammad Aminu Tukur declared that the President is weak in the area of asserting his authority as the leader of the party to assuage those that are aggrieved with the leadership style of the national executive members of the party.

Aminu Tukur who recently dumped the APC in Bauchi state to join the opposition APP under which he contested and lost the recent Bauchi south senatorial by-election said that, “as the leader of the APC, President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to act decisively in order to ensure that the party did not lose membership.”

While accusing the National Secretary of the party of being the architect of the nationwide crisis of the party, the lawmaker opined that unless something very urgent was done to arrest the situation, the party will continue to lose membership across the country.

On the leadership style of the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomohle, Aminu Tukur declared, ” as a labour union leader Oshoiomhole succeeded very well but as a political leader, he has failed woefully. He does not possess the charismatic quality to lead a party like APC”.

On the move to impeach the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, the politician said that it is going to be very hard, difficult and impossible considering the fact the Senate President is in firm grip of the National Assembly.

He said, “Bukola Saraki is the Alpha and Omega of the Senate and the National Assembly, he has what it takes to decide the fate of any Senator in the Senate. More so, based on the constitution of the country, you need a two-thirds majority to impeach the Senate President. Where will the APC get such a number? He asked.

While reacting to the silence of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara on the political development in the country, Aminu Tukur who is a staunch supporter of the Speaker said that, “at the appropriate time, Yakubu Dogara will speak but I can assure you that for now, he is a member of the APC.”

When reminded that Yakubu Dogara the APC lost the recent Bauchi south senatorial by-election to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bogoro LGA which is his home base, the lawmaker said that, “yes he lost but it does not mean that he is losing grip of the home base, it is just that the people demonstrated their grievances for not been properly told where to go to during the conduct of the by-election.”

He concluded that, “Dogara is our political party, anywhere he goes, we are going with him. We are just waiting for him to tell us his direction politically and we will follow him to the place.”

Google introduced Android Go edition last year, already being present in two hundred smartphone models in over one hundred and twenty countries. Currently, it is possible to find smartphones with this operating system in smartphones, such as the Nokia 1, Alcatel 1X, LAVA Z50 and much more.

Following what would be expected, Google has announced that it will continue the development of Android Go edition. In addition, the new features that will be present in the Android 9 Pie (Go edition), to be released during the fall of this year were it will be presented.

What does the Android 9 Pie (Go edition) reserve for us?
One of the measures implemented in Android (Go edition) is the amount of space that the operating system itself occupies in the internal storage of the device. While a standard version of Android takes up about 5.5GB, Android 8 Oreo (Go edition) takes only 3GB and the future Android 9 Pie (Go edition) will occupy only 2.5GB. Yes, We are facing a cut of more than 50% without compromising the integrity and basic functioning of the operating system.

On modest devices with little internal storage, 8GB is the example given by the tech giant Google, these savings will have a considerable influence on the versatility of the equipment. With Android (Go edition) you will have plenty of room for your files and to install applications.

In addition to the measures applied in the core of the operating system, Android (Go edition) has a set of applications from Google specially developed for this version.

The Google Go app lets you read web pages aloud, highlighting text that is read in the process. Something more interesting is present in YouTube Go that allows you to download videos for later viewing, even while offline.

The Go Maps will support navigation with turn-by-turn directions, that put it closer to the standard version available on other Android smartphones. The Files Go app will be able to transfer data in a peer-to-peer mode without requiring an Internet connection and speeds up to 490Mbps.

Even the Google Assistant Go is present in this version of Android 9 Pie (Go edition) and will support several languages as well. In addition, the functionality level will now have commands to control the camera, flashlight, reminders, and Bluetooth.

Google’s bid to “attack” the emerging markets is thus reinforced, which could be the entry of many users in the world of smartphones and the consequent abandonment of traditional mobile phones.

Children Didn't Vote But Participated In Katsina North Senatorial By-election
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 08-24-2018, 04:29 PM - No Replies

They were not involved in the actual voting as they were not qualified. But children were a strong part of the Katsina North senatorial by-election which produced Ahmad Babba-Kaita as senator-elect.
The district, where President Muhammadu Buhari hails from, became vacant following the death of Mustapha Bukar on April 4.
From Daura, the district’s capital, to Kankia, Bindawa, Baure and other towns, children from age two and above made their ways to polling units on their own.
They engaged in different activities, economic and political.
On the economic side, many were seen at polling areas displaying their wares which mostly were food stuffs, some others hawked from one polling unit to another.
PREMIUM TIMES reporter who covered the election in this report chronicles the activities of children at polling units.

THE PERFECT EXAMPLE – KANKIA
Located in the bustling town of Kankia, three polling units set up in Bakin Kasua Primary School presented a perfect example of children’s activities in the electoral process.
Kankia itself is significant for the election; it is hometown of the candidates of the two major political parties, Kabir Babba-Kaita of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Ahmad Babba-Kaita of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The three polling units; Bakin Kasua PU 005, 006 and 010 are all located within the school.
By 10:40 a.m. when this reporter first landed in the polling units, it was difficult to tell who were more; adults or children. In fact, it is safe to say the number of children exceeded that of adults. At this time of the election day, the children could be safely categorised into two.
The first group comprised those who came to sell food items and placed themselves at strategic places within the polling units. While some created what could be called mini shops for themselves under trees, a good number preferred to hawk their wares.
They sold zobo local beverage, kolanut, Rogo dafawa (cooked cassava), sweets, baked foods etc. For many voters, election observers and journalists, these children were the messiahs who delivered them from hunger.
Children in the second group were not hard to spot. They slightly outnumbered the ones in the first group. Dressed in smeary attires, children from age two and above wandered around the three polling units. They certainly did not understand the process but were keen on feeding their eyes with all items and happenings. Often times, they got so close to the ballot boxes to the wrath of security agencies. Certainly, a measure had to be devised to control them before the end of voting.

THE LOCAL RUMBLE AND AHMAD’s WELCOME
Still in Bakin Kasua Primary School. The time is 12:15p.m. and voting exercise continues in peace.
Until this period, the children were still polarised in two groups of sellers and spectators. But this changed just as the APC candidate, Ahmad Babba-Kaita approached the polling unit.
More like they were assigned to do so, the children quickly changed their course. Almost immediately they sighted Mr Ahmad, they became what many would call ‘hailers.’ From the road that linked the school, children in hundreds, fused with adults, form the entourage of Mr Ahmad.

LOYAL HAILERS

The time now is 1:17p.m. Mr Ahmad had decided to leave the queue for a tree shade after queuing for about an hour but he wouldn’t be left alone.

For the about 150 metres walk from where he queued to the tree shade, he was flanked both sides, back and front by cheerful children. This time, they were joined even by those who hawked.
When Mr Ahmad finally decided to relax under the tree, the children mounted the tree top, some on slim branches, to maintain their entourage. Others gathered around him as though they were in a political meeting.

They would not bulge even after a series of protests by Mr Ahmad for them to retreat.
By 1:42p.m., still in the hot afternoon, another rush ensued.
About 50 metres to Mr Ahmad’s sitting position, a good Samaritan had decided to feed the children on dafaffen Rogo (cooked cassava), a local delicacy.
The kind gesture caught them unawares, hence, the tone of the struggle. While the fit ran to grab at least a handful of the meal, those on the tree made their ways from the high elevation. They were indeed hungry.
Stampede, another stampede and more stampedes characterised the struggle.

By the time dust finally settled, many of the children had sustained injuries. But they were not deterred. They returned to their position with Mr Ahmad.

HOW SECURITY OFFICIALS COPED

Section. 129 (1) of the Electoral Act states that “no person shall on the date an election…loiter without lawful excuse after voting or after being refused to vote…in a polling unit or within a distance of 300 metres of a polling unit”

The law says that any person who contravenes this “commits an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine of N100, 000 or imprisonment for 6 months for every such offence.”
This is the ideal but the reality in Kankia did not conform.
Perhaps, a N100, 000 would have been paid in multiple folds should security operatives decide to adhere strictly to this provision.
Apart from wandering about the three polling units, the children were uncomfortably close to ballot boxes and election materials.
At almost every seconds, security officials at the polling units had to shoo them away but it did not work as the children kept coming back like the proverbial stubborn goat.
By 2:00p.m. when it seemed almost impossible to control their interference, officials at each polling units decided to dedicated at least one security officer to shooing away children from the polling units.

INEC NOT AWARE

INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Oluwole Osaze-Uzi, said the commission was not aware of situation as it was not contained in any of the reports submitted after the election.
“You are the one telling me about that,” he said Monday afternoon. “I’m not aware of that. I didn’t see that in our report.”
Mr Osaze-Uzi however said the children like every other persons ought to maintain a distance as prescribed by the law.
“But ordinarily on Election Day, within the vicinity of the polling unit, you ought to have a distance… to be there.”
Austin Aigbe of the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) condemned the development.
“How did the children get to the polling station? The process is simply, on election day, there are restriction of movement, and only eligible voters with PVC are allowed a walking distance to their respective polling unit. The Nigerian constitution prescribe that a person must be 18 or above to be eligible to vote. Allowing children to participate in elections is, therefore the highest level of violation of our electoral laws,” he said.
By 4:00p.m., when the counting and sorting started, the children were still very much on ground. In Hausa language, they joined the Presiding Officer in counting of ballot papers.
What followed was jubilation across the three polling units, still led by children.

19 Nigerians Arrested In Nairobi Over Electronic Fraud (photos)
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 08-24-2018, 03:31 PM - No Replies

Nineteen Nigerians living in Nairobi, Kenya have been arrested for engaging in electronic frauds targeting Kenyans.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kenya, the Nigerians start by befriending you on social media(Facebook) and once you accept the friend request they initiate a friendly chat that promises the victim goodies to be sent through DHL at the airport.

After that, a call will be made impersonating a worker at DHL, who will ask the victim to pay clearance fees for the parcel they fraudsters claim to have sent. After that, another call for yet another call for yet another fee, this time for documentation, is made. When the last payment has been made, the victims calls demanding for his/her parcel will no longer be picked.
Only then will victims understand they’ve been duped.

The Fraudsters, who according to the DCI, reside in Umoja, Kasarani and Roysambu Estates within Nairobi have now arrested.

What I Told Buhari In Daura, By Shehu Sani
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 08-24-2018, 02:58 PM - Replies (3)

Quote:Mr Sani, representing Kaduna Central in the National Assembly, who spoke to journalists after a closed door meeting with the president, said they deliberated on issues bordering on strengthening the APC through resolution of all internal strife in the party.

According to him, he used the opportunity to assure the president on the support of his constituency to his re-election bid in 2019.

He said: “I am also here to fully assure him of the support of my constituency, Kaduna Central, to his aspiration for the second term.

“I’m also here to assure him of my own wholehearted support to the success of his administration and his return to office for the second term.

“Those were the basic issues that we discussed with him and other issues that border on the need to strengthen our party; the need to end all internal strife and also the need to put heads, hearts and hands together for the success of his administration and also for the success of the party.”

The senator stated that his decision to remain in the APC was not because his grievances against the party leadership in Kaduna state had been addressed, but due to the intervention of President Buhari and the national leadership of the party.

He, therefore, called on all aggrieved members of the APC in the National Assembly to put aside parochial interests and join hands with the party in promoting national interest for the general good of all citizens.

“Well, there is no human being without any grievances but when national interest is put at the front side you have to put aside other parochial interests.

“What we need to do as politicians and as people representing those who elected us is to always put the country first and know very well that we have both constitutional and moral duty to work to the progress of Nigeria and of this government.

“So, I think these are the basic issues which we discussed, grievances are natural but we have to know that we have a country that we need to keep and also we have a country that we need to support, so that it can progress,” he added.

On whether he has been assured of automatic ticket to seek re-election in 2019, Mr Sani said even he was not so keen about automatic ticket but the party had pledged to reward loyalty.

He, however, stressed that while rewarding members for their loyalty to the party due process must be followed.

“I think the party had made it very clear and known to each and every person that there will be reward for loyalty but in every sense of the word due process of the party needs to be followed.

“And as far as we are concerned, what matters most to us is not simply about automatic ticket but about the peaceful and transparent conduct of the 2019 election and also the very need for us as a people and as a nation to know that the fate of the country is on our hands.

“There is the need for us to keep aside all sectional, ethnic and religious differences for the progress of this country and going by the very fact that the President has intervened and chairman of the party has intervened – all family squabbles would certainly come to an end,’’ he said.

2019 Presidency: Atiku, Tambuwal Split PDP Governors, Stakeholders
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 08-24-2018, 02:52 PM - No Replies

Quote:There are indications that the recent defection of some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) might have created a nightmare for the major opposition party in the country. Already, governors elected on the platform of PDP and other stakeholders are divided over the party’s presidential ticket for next year’s election.

They are torn between handing over the ticket to defectors or members who had stayed in the party since 2015 when PDP became an opposition party. So far, about 11 aspirants are in contention for the PDP ticket, which has been zoned to the North. Among those who have publicly declared their intention to run for the presidency are former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar; former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido; former Minister of Special Duties, Kabiru Turaki; immediate past Chairman of PDP National Caretaker Committee, Senator Ahmed Makarfi and Senator Datti Baba Ahmed, proprietor of Baze University. Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo, as well as former Kano and Sokoto state governors, Ibrahim Shekarau and Attahiru Bafarawa, respectively, are the other aspirants. President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki; Sokoto State Governor, Rt. Hon. Aminu Tambuwal and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, who rejoined the party some weeks ago, are also interested in the PDP presidential ticket.

They have not declared publicly, even though their aspiration is almost an open secret. Findings by New Telegraph indicated that there is a ‘cold war’ in the party over the presidential ticket. A source at the national headquarters of the party in Abuja said: “There is ‘cold war’ now in the party since Tambuwal and Saraki came back. You know, they are interested in the presidency. “With that, the front runners would be Atiku and Tambuwal. As a matter of fact, the battle is a straight one between Atiku and Tambuwal. The governors and other party stakeholders are divided.

“The interesting thing this time is that the governors are not united unlike before. (Nyesom) Wike is mobilising for Tambuwal, but (Seriake) Dickson and Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, are supporting Atiku. “So, it may be difficult to predict who will likely pick the ticket.” He said, however, that those who had remained in the party like Makarfi, Lamido and others, are not happy that defectors are being given attention ahead of them. Atiku, Tambuwal, Saraki and Kwankwaso are the returnees seeking PDP’s presidential ticket. According to another source, those who had remained in PDP thought that the presidential ticket would be a compensation for any one of them for remaining loyal to the party while others were on political green pasture elsewhere. He said Tambuwal was persuaded to leave APC to join the presidential race by forces who are not too comfortable with the Atiku presidency.

Before Saraki and Tambuwal re-joined their former party, the ticket was for Atiku to lose. His rating was too high for any of them to meet. He had toured round the country more than twice, in consultation with wouldbe delegates, while some of them are yet to even begin. None of the aspirants could match his connection or what is known in political parlance as ‘war chest.’ But, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has consistently kicked against Atiku’s candidacy. It was gathered that the condition he gave PDP leaders who visited him recently in Abeokuta, Ogun State, was for them to look for another presidential candidate if they wanted his support in next year’s election. Obasanjo recently told an online portal, Premium Times, that God would not forgive him, if he supported Atiku’s ambition.

“The problem is how to handle Atiku, because he can match the governors money-for-money and he has contact across the country. He has been going round the country and has won many delegates to his side. “So, before Tambuwal joined PDP, none of the aspirants could match him. So, I believe that is why some party leaders reached out to him to come and contest,” the source added. Obasanjo was said to be comfortable with either Kwankwaso or Dankwambo’s candidature, but the problem is that they lacked national appeal. Kwankwaso is said not to be popular in the South because of his antecedents. “In fact, some see him as a zealot who hates southerners.

“Dankwambo is relatively known. Apart from his position as Accountant General of the Federation, which is more of a civil service job, he has not occupied any national political office. “But Tambuwal was Speaker of the House of Representatives for four years and that has made him a national figure,” he said.

The source disclosed that Saraki is still interested in returning to the Senate next year.Asked how he intends to achieve this since every other primary would come before that of presidential primary election, the source disclosed: “He will put a weak person who will step down for him if he fails. Even Kwankwaso is thinking of that. Remember, he did the same thing in APC, with (Rochas) Okorocha.” Kwankwaso and Imo State Governor, Okorocha, were among the APC presidential aspirants in 2014 presidential primary election, but later went back to pick the senatorial and governorship tickets in their states after they lost to Buhari. Certain factors are likely to influence the choice of PDP presidential candidate. One of them is the age factor while the other is geopolitical zone of the candidate.

Though sources said these have been played down, there are indications that PDP would prefer a younger candidate, who the party believes would appeal more to Nigerians. Again, the party may go for a candidate from North- West (where Buhari comes from) so as to be able to divide APC votes in the zone. All these factors favour Tambuwal. It was gathered that the Caliphate has been lobbying for Tambuwal and would like to use him to pay Buhari back in his own coin for his ill-treatment of former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd), who is a prince of the Caliphate.

has been disquiet in the Presidency when the rumour of Tambuwal’s defection became stronger. His emergence as PDP presidential candidate would likely deny Buhari votes in Sokoto and Zamfara states. But it is not going to be easy for the Sokoto governor. Apart from his Bayelsa and Abia State counterparts, who are not supporting his ambition, delegates from Gombe and Kwara may also not vote for him at the convention. Dankwambo is in the race, so also is Saraki, who is from Kwara State. Atiku’s camp also said it is not losing sleep over Tambuwal’s ambition. His media team had quickly released result of online poll, before he announced his defection to PDP, where pollsters rated the former vice president over Saraki, Kwankwaso and “others” for PDP ticket. Spokesperson for Atiku Campaign Organisation, Segun Showunmi, said in an interview, that Atiku was not threatened by the entrance of Tambuwal into the race. “We are not threatened by anybody. We have penetrated every village and every town and hamlet in Nigeria,” Showunmi said.

He added that what Atiku campaign demands from PDP is free and transparent primary election. According to him, “Once the process is going to be credible, then, all candidates that have shown interest are encouraged to criss-cross the country, go and meet the delegates, market themselves to the citizens and may the best man win.” Atiku and Tambuwal met recently in Abuja. The details of the meeting were not made known, but sources said it is in connection with PDP presidential ticket and Tambuwal’s declaration. PDP has, however, assured the aspirants of level playing ground for all aspirants. Kola Ologbondiyan, the National Publicity Secretary, said PDP has taken note of all concerns raised by party members, including new and returnees and assured them that no one would be short-changed. “While PDP appreciates and values such concerns, it is instructive to inform that the national leadership of our party has already envisaged the challenges of an enlarged family and has since made adequate arrangements that would effectively cover all interests for the task ahead,” the party said.

Reno Omokri Challenges Buhari: Name 3 Projects You Initiated, Started, Completed
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 08-24-2018, 01:41 PM - Replies (1)

Quote:THE administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has been challenged to name 3 projects they initiated, started and completed since it took over from the previous administration.

The challenge was thrown to the federal government by Reno Omokri, an aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Incumbent Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo had on Tuesday said President Buhari’s government has done more in terms of infrastructure development than the previous administration, despite earning little from the oil, which is the main stay of the economy.

“In the past four years of the previous administration, over US$393 billion was earned in oil proceeds alone. In the past three years, we have earned US$94 billion, look at the difference. And the reasons are very straightforward. The price of oil was about half of what it used to be. But with the same $94 billion, we have been able to do far more,” Osinbajo was quoted by Vanguard as saying in a town hall meeting in Bariga/Somolu Local Council Develpment Area, LCDA, in Lagos State.

Reacting, Omokri described the claims as lies saying the administration of his principal initiated, started and completed more projects that the incumbent government, he therefore challenged them to list their own projects which they started and completed.

"The recent comments by Vice President Osinbajo that the Buhari administration of which he is a part of has achieved much more than the Jonathan government is another in a long line of lies that the Vice President has come to be known for," Omokri said in a statement on Friday.

"It beats my imagination why a man like Osinbajo who claims to be a pastor would have a habit of lying and lying so brazenly. It is a notorious fact that the Jonathan administration outperforms the Buhari administration in every sphere of governance.

"I understand the 2019 elections are5 months away and a desperate Buhari government, like a student who hasn’t read for his forthcoming examinations, is in panic mode, but they should please leave the good name of Jonathan out of their sordid mess.

"The only way Osinbajo can be correct is if he is referring to the fact that Nigeria, under their administration, has overtaken India as the nation with the highest number of extremely poor people in the world according to the World Poverty Clock.

"While ex President Jonathan can point to exactly 8956 projects that he initiated, started and completed, I challenge the Buhari government to take the challenge and name 3 projects they have initiated, started and completed in the last three years.

"The super fast 187-kilometre Abuja-Kaduna railway, which President Buhari commissioned, was built by President Jonathan. The Abuja metro, which the incumbent President also commissioned, was conceived by President Obasanjo and finished by President Jonathan.

"According to UNICEF, there are 10.5 million out of school children in Nigeria, with about 60% in the Northwest geopolitical zone, where President Buhari comes from. Has the Buhari administration built even one secondary school or university to cater for them?

"So by what logic can Osinbajo say that their administration has outperformed a Jonathan government that initiated, started and completed 165 almajiri schools as well as 12 new federal universities to cater for this mammoth out of school youth bulge?

"How can Osinbajo say their govt, under which Nigeria suffered her worst retrogression in Transparency International’s Corruption Index (from 136 to 148) outperformed GEJ admin under which we made our best ever improvement in the CPI (from 144 to 136).

"According to data published by National Bureau of Statistics last year, 7.9 million Nigerians lost their jobs in the 21 months preceding that time. How can an administration with such an abysmal job record claim to have outperformed a Jonathan.

"The Jonathan govt, according to the same National Bureau of Statistics, created 6 million jobs through programmes like the YouWIN initiative, Local Content Law, Graduate Internship Scheme, Nagropreneurs and SURE-P? Can Buhari and Osinbajo match that?

"If the current Buhari government is saying that by borrowing more money in three years than the Peoples Democratic Party borrowed in 16 years they have outperformed the Jonathan administration, then I am willing to concede that fact.

"But to say that an admin that has not built even one single power station has outperformed an administration that built and commissioned the 500 megawatts Omotosho Power Plant Phase 2 with four gas turbines in Ondo State is to be economical with the truth." he said.

Omokri said the constant refrain by the Buhari and Osinbajo administration of blaming their abysmal performance on the low price of oil is a case of a bad workman blaming his tools for his incompetence.

"Today, oil averages at $74 per barrel. In 2017, crude averaged $51 per barrel. Need I remind Nigerians that the PDP government of President Obasanjo paid off Nigeria’s entire foreign debt in 2006 at a time oil sold at less than one third what it sells today."

Keyamo criticises Jonathan, Obasanjo, Saraki
ABDULFATAI AYOBAMI IBRAHIM
24 AUG 2018
Success Nwogu, Ilorin

The Director, Strategic Communications for the President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2019 presidential campaign, Mr Festus Keyamo (SAN), has said previous administrations before President Muhammadu Buhari’s government mismanaged Nigeria’s resources.

Keyamo also alleged that the previous leaders cared less for the masses and enabled the rich to loot the national resources to the detriment of the poor.
The lawyer said this on Thursday at the inauguration of the ward and local government canvassers in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, where he gave a lecture titled ‘Milestones of sustainable economic and social development in Nigeria.’

He argued that governments in the past 16 years established a system of sharing national resources.

The past governments in the last 16 years are those of the immediate past President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan; the late Alhaji Umaru Yar’Adua, and Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.

The senior advocate added that Buhari with small earnings had achieved more in three years in the provision of infrastructure than what were provided by the past governments in the past 16 years that earned huge revenues.

Keyamo said, “For 16 years, the previous administrations before President Buhari’s administration re-established a warped system of government. It was an orientation they gave to our youths and all of us. It was a system of government that was based on a sharing formula. That was what they had before 2015.

“Most of those bad eggs that have left us in Kwara State and others, when you hear them talk of inclusiveness and not being carried along, what they mean by inclusiveness is a euphemism for a sharing formula. That is a system of government that was established before 2015 when Buhari came on board. And that is the system that Buhari had tried to change in the last years that has not gone down well with so many people.

“There is no government in the history of this country that has concentrated on the poor and vulnerable as much as this government in the last three years. No government! There is no government that has gone after recovering what belongs to Nigerians with serious mindedness like this government in the last three years. You saw the humongous amounts recovered in pit latrines, flats, water tanks, villages, graveyards. No government has done that.“What Buhari has done in the last three years was to take the bullets from the rich in order to protect the poor. He has not bothered about re-election and political correctness in order to get a second term. He has not conceded anything to anybody. He has not made deals behind you.”

He added, “Presidents before Buhari sold you (Nigerians) out because they wanted political correctness. The former Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, in her book, said in order to appease the National Assembly, they had to insert N17bn for them to pass the budget. That is how all of us were sold off by previous governments. But President Buhari refused.

For six months, they (National Assembly members) refused to pass the budget and he was looking at them, they were looking at him. He said until we get to the end, they will not see one kobo. When they were tired, the same people who left us here in this state were the champion of these courses.

“Because monies have been diverted by people at the top for many years, they have not remembered the vulnerable. This is the first government that has the four cardinal programmes of social intervention programmes.

One of them is to give stipends to the venerable and certain amount to small and medium enterprises from N250, 000 and N300, 000 to start small businesses. The social intervention programme is an indication that the government is thinking more of the poor more than the rich.

“While President Buhari is boasting that he has provided social intervention programmes for the poor, the past government was boasting of how many rich people it created and how many private jets were parked at the international airports. That is the difference of philosophy.”

Opposition can’t fault my efforts at solving Nigeria’s problems – Buhari
August 24, 2018  politics

President Muhammadu Buhari has said members of the opposition cannot fault the efforts his administration has made in its three major areas of focus, namely security, economy and the fight against corruption.

According to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President spoke on Thursday in his hometown, Daura, Katsina State, while hosting some state governors elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, some federal and state lawmakers and state commissioners to a lunch.

Buhari said he would continue to do what he was expected to do in the leadership position God had given him.

He said, “We are always encouraged when all our constituents are happy with the work we are doing and our genuine efforts to make sure that what we campaigned for in 2015 is still very much in our minds and we have not lost focus.

“In terms of security, economy and the fight against corruption, we have maintained focus. Even the opposition with all their resources cannot fault our identification of Nigeria’s priorities and the efforts being made to better them.

“We will continue to do what we ought to do in the leadership position God has placed us and we thank the constituents for the support.”

On the defections within the major political parties, the President reiterated his earlier position that he wished them well.

“For those who have decided to change camp for whatever reason, we wish them good luck,” he said.

The President said the combined efforts of defectors and their backers in the opposition would not distract his administration from the good work it was doing for the benefit and development of Nigeria.

He stressed that the ruling party had the full understanding of Nigeria’s challenges and was encouraged by the support of Nigerians in addressing them.

In his remarks, the leader of the delegation and Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, Rochas Okorocha, commended the President on his efforts at keeping the nation together.

The feat, the Imo State Governor said, had been achieved through Buhari’s visionary leadership.

He noted that the President had remained focused and unshaken by situations and circumstances.

“This shows that your administration is approved by God.

“We are here to encourage you to keep doing what you are doing as Nigerians are very pleased with you.

“We also want to inform you that we had wonderful and peaceful Sallah celebration across the country because of security of lives and property you have guaranteed in our nation,” Okorocha told the President.

Okorocha was accompanied by the governors of Katsina, Kebbi, Kano and Niger states.

You’re surrounded by corrupt people, PDP replies President

Contrary to the claim by Buhari that he was fighting corruption, the Peoples Democratic Party has alleged that the President is surrounding himself with people who have corruption cases.

It therefore said that the claim of integrity by the President was questionable.

It further described the claim by the President that opposition could see that he was trying as an admittance of failure.

The main opposition party insisted that the President had failed in the three cardinal promises he made to Nigerians when he was campaigning in 2015.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, who spoke with one of our correspondents in an interview in Abuja, also debunked the claim by the Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, that the performance of Buhari’s government was satisfactory to God.

He said, “Here is a President who is surrounded by corrupt people, people who have corruption cases hanging on their necks. Where then is the much-touted integrity of the man?

“If you claim not to be a thief, but you are surrounded by thieves, you eat with them, open your doors for them and play with them? Are you not supposed to be worried?

“Where then is the integrity? Every suspected corrupt person is becoming your friend. Everyone being tried for stealing and corruption is wining and dining with you. Then you say you have integrity. President Muhammadu Buhari has shown Nigerians his friends and we now know the kind of person he is.”

Ologbondiyan said the President could not have sincerely claimed to have succeeded in the fight against insurgency and revamp of the economy as well.

In the area of insurgency, he said the government of former President Goodluck Jonathan was able to restore normalcy to the North-East, adding that this was responsible for the ability of the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct elections in the zone in 2015.

He said, “The President has indeed failed in the three areas he promised Nigerians. The indices before Nigerians testify to this.

“He has not solved any problem at all. He made the promise that he would fight insurgency, fight corruption and also revamp the economy.

“The PDP government has fought insurgency to the extent that elections were held and results declared in all the local government areas in North-East by the Independent National Electoral Commission. The outcome of the elections made the commission to declare President Buhari as the winner. Today, some areas in the zone have been taken over by insurgents.”

On the economy, he said Nigerians were worse off.

“Interest rates have gone up. Banks no longer have the capacity to grant loans. The lending facilities handed over to this government by the PDP government are all wiped off.

“Today, there is no middle class. So, where is the said performance? When he is rejected by Nigerians next year, he will go to his village, regretting that he has disappointed the people who elected him to serve them.”

Your govt has increased poverty, unemployment – ADC

Disagreeing with Buhari’s claim, the Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, Chief Okey Nwosu, said it was unfortunate that Buhari had converted the exalted office of the President to a “lie manufacturing plant.”

Nwosu, whose party has been endorsed by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, said statistics from every credible organisation and even agencies of government showed that poverty and unemployment had worsened.

He further stated that the crisis in the Middle Belt had reached unprecedented levels under the Buhari administration and it was therefore deceptive of Buhari to claim that he had effectively tackled insecurity.

The ADC chairman said Transparency International had exposed Buhari’s anti-graft war for the sham that it was and subsequently urged the President to focus on improving the lives of Nigerians rather than propaganda.

Nwosu said, “Buhari has turned the Presidency into a lie manufacturing plant. He has no right to evaluate himself. It is Nigerians that are supposed to assess his performance. However, the facts speak for themselves. Under Buhari, poverty and unemployment have worsened.

“He claims to have effectively tackled insecurity but every day new IDP camps are springing up. I recently returned from Borno State where I saw IDP camps all over the place.

“Even the agricultural revolution he boasts of is also false. The Middle Belt which is the food basket of the nation is in crisis, no thanks to herdsmen. So, how can he say life is better under his watch?”

Rohr wants Moses to reconsider retirement
August 24, 2018  SPORT

Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has urged Victor Moses to reconsider his early retirement from the national team ahead of the 2019 African Cup of Nations. Moses left his Nigerian fans puzzled after he quit the national team wishing to concentrate on his club and stay close to his family.

However, Rohr is hoping that the AFCON will be a motivation for the Chelsea man to stage a comeback. “We spoke already and I hope that his decision is not definitive. “I think it depends on his motivation. If he really wants to commit himself again, he is welcome.
“Maybe the chance to win the AFCON is motivation. We will see.” Moses contributed a lot to the Super Eagles third win of the AFCON 2013 in South Africa and he appeared in two World Cups for Nigeria in 2014 and 2018.

He played 37 times and scored 12 goals for the Super Eagles. Rohr is expected today to release his squad for the AFCON 2019 qualification match against Seychelles on September 8 The team camp will open on September 1 in Abuja from where they fly out to the Indian Ocean Island nation.

Saraki : Call Miyetti Allah leadership to order — Middle Belt Forum, PDP BoT chair
August 24, 2018  politics

Bothered by the statement credited to National Coordinator of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, MACBAN, Garus Gololo, ordering the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, to step down or be forced out of office, Middle Belt Forum, MBF, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to call the MACBAN leadership to order.

The forum also urged security agencies to invite the source of the threat for questioning to assuage the fears of Nigerians. In a statement on behalf of the forum, in Makurdi, yesterday, entitled: “Miyetti Allah’s unchecked threats: A dangerous precedence for our democracy,” the MBF Coordinator of Public Communication, Ndi Kato, regretted that the statement originated from a state like Benue that heavily bore the brunt of herdsmen killings. The statement read: “As a result of these targeted attacks on Benue and most states in the Middle Belt, our region is knee deep in a mismanaged humanitarian crisis spanning several states. “This threat by the leadership of Miyetti Allah is not only insulting, it is inciting and we believe issued with the intention to heat up the polity.

“The Middle Belt Forum has observed the consistency with which leaders of Miyetti Allah expend inciting statements on national issues well beyond their reach and we are at the juncture where we must stand firm and insist enough is enough, Miyetti Allah must be called to order. “Nigerians cannot understand the root of this audacity by Miyetti Allah to pour fuel on national issues from the heavy loss of human lives in several parts of our nation to sensitive political issues.

“Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki is not only the Senate President but the highest office holder in the Middle Belt. “A threat to his office by non-political actors is a threat to democracy; a threat to his person is a threat to the leadership of our region. “The entire Middle Belt is currently grappling for stability in the midst of chaos, land grabbing and mass killings. “We call on well-meaning Nigerians to rebuke such statements and the intentions behind them as these are direct threats to our democracy. “We call on our national security agencies to, in the interest of national peace and stability, invite Alhaji Garus Gololo for questioning. “Finally, we call on President Muhammadu Buhari to put his foot down against such rhetoric in the interest of our nation.” PDP BoT chair condemns call Meanwhile, chairman, Board of Trustees, BoT, of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Walid Jubrin, yesterday, condemned the call by Gololo on Saraki.

In a chat with journalists in Abuja, Jibrin challenged the association to openly condemn the statement so that it will not be misconstrued as the general position of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association. While noting that Fulani associations were up to 25 in number, the PDP chieftain said when people talk of Miyetti Allah, it should not be misconstrued as the generality of all Fulani people in the country. “I will try my best to see that I bring them together, so that they will not shy away from their responsibility of defending the course of the entire Fulani people.

That is to say that they should never engineer crisis, they should only safeguard the interest of the entire Fulani by not being agents of attack. “We, the Fulani concerned elders, are now trying to bring all these Fulani associations together, so that we can talk with one voice.” He further explained the role he played in addressing herdsmen attacks in Taraba State and how he was planning a similar one in Benue to particularly meet with Governor Samuel Ortom, the leadership of Tiv Fulani communities to resolve the perennial clashes between them. He said: “Like I earlier did, I went to Taraba State to meet with the governor, the leaders and Fulani elders and the meeting is yielding results. I intend to go to Benue to meet the governor, the leadership of Tiv people and the Fulani people to look at the pros and cons of the issues of Fulani herdsmen.
This (crisis) can only be solved by dialogue and mediation. We should not be tired of discussing these issues so that the matter will die down and everybody will appreciate the other.” “We as Fulani will educate our people to understand the Nigeria problem, the problem of rearing animals and most importantly, to educate our Fulani children so that when they are educated, most of these problems will reduce.”

Don’t heat up polity, Arewa youths tell Miyetti Allah
August 24, 2018  politics

                              [Image: northern-youths-threaten-igbos-1024x614.jpg]
Arewa Youth for Peace and Security (AYPS) has told Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) to focus on helping to stop the killings, rather than getting involved in partisan politics.

National president of AYPS, Salisu Magaji, in a statement yesterday in Abuja, expressed concern over a statement credited to Benue State chairman of MACBAN, Garus Galolo, threatening to force Senate President Bukola Saraki out of office. He noted that senators elected Saraki as their leader and only two-third of the lawmakers could remove him from office as stipulated by law.

“They should restrict themselves to the constitution of Miyetti Allah. Saraki is a Nigerian and he remains the president of the senate as elected by the senators,” he said. Magaji wondered if the association has become a political group to be talking about forcing Saraki out of office.

“Do they not know he was elected as the senate president by senators, and that only two-third of the entire senators can remove him from office as stipulated by the constitution of Nigeria?

“We would like to think that this chairman of Miyetti Allah in Benue does not understand the rudiments and essence of politics.“So, let him concentrate on how to stop the killings in Benue and desist, henceforth, from talking about politics because Miyetti Allah is not a political group. He should desist from heating up an already fragile polity. Our laws are clear on how to remove a sitting senate president.
However, the national secretary of MACBAN, Baba Ngelzarma, had in a statement urged the public to disregard Galolo’s position, saying that he spoke in personal capacity and had no mandate to speak on behalf of the association.
Ngelzarma stated: “Miyetti Allah is a non-partisan association with no interest in the political terrain and we couldn’t meddle into the affairs of political actors, thereby compounding our challenges.

“I, therefore, urge all and sundry to disregard this statement. This statement is not from MACBAN and should be disregarded in its entirety.’’“We take exception to this statement and Garos Gololo is entirely on his own and will be sanctioned accordingly. We cannot afford to add to the many challenges we are confronted with.

Buhari to submit 2019 budget on NASS resumption
August 24, 2018  NEW

The federal government has hinted that President Muhammadu Buhari will present the 2019 budget to the National Assembly when the legislature reconvenes in September.

Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, explained that this was to restore the January to December budget cycle.

“Our aspirations is that we want to meet the requirements of the law to submit it by September but as you know the National assembly is itself away on recess and they resume by September”, she told Daily Trust.

The Minister disclosed that the N1.56 trillion spent by the federal government on capital projects was the highest amount ever spent on capital projects in the history of Nigeria.
According to her, the federal government released 60 per cent of the total N2.2 trillion budgeted for capital projects in 2017, the highest value ever.
The Minister said the 2017 budget did well as the country executed 100 per cent of the personnel component, ensuring that salaries and pensions were paid, including pension arrears.
Ahmed noted that despite the fact that production did not go up to the 2.3 million barrels per day projected for the year, oil and gas sector revenue hit 95 per cent largely due to increase in oil price in the international market.
“Non-oil revenue performance was not as high as we had expected.
“Because of the recession, a lot of businesses were struggling and couldn’t perform as they should and getting taxes will be as a result of the profit declared by companies.
“Taxes collected are also indicative of the performance of businesses in the economy,” the Minister said.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

FRIDAY, 24TH AUGUST.

A GOSPEL OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith (Romans 1:16-17).

Through the years, men have sought righteousness, wanting to be righteous before God. But the righteousness of God is only revealed in the Gospel of Christ. The Gospel of Christ is the unveiling of God’s righteousness; it’s the Gospel of God’s righteousness. Therefore, until one accepts the Gospel of Christ, he or she will never be able to live a righteous life or know the righteousness of God.

Righteousness is the nature of God that gives you the ability to stand in His presence without condemnation, guilt, fear or inferiority. It’s the ability to stand in fellowship and rightness with God.

There’s no other way to come into this extraordinary life of righteousness and oneness with the Lord except through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

This is why we can’t afford to be quiet about the Gospel. It’s the answer to man’s cry. Let’s not act as though there’s another way; there’re no options to the Gospel. There’s no other way for men to learn of, receive, or understand, the righteousness of God, outside of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. So don’t be quiet in your locality, city, town, or nation; preach the Gospel with boldness. Spread the Good News of righteousness.

You hold the key to the salvation of men; so preach the Gospel and unveil the righteousness of God to them. Be the answer to their search for God’s righteousness.

CONFESSION

I have the life and nature of God in me. I’m the very representative of Christ on earth, manifesting His glory, and establishing His righteousness everywhere. As the message of salvation gets into the hearts of men today, faith is ignited in them to receive and become the effulgence of God’s righteousness, as eternal life is imparted to their spirits, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Jeremiah 20:9
Then I said, “I will not make mention of Him, Nor speak anymore in His name.” But His word was in my heart like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, And I could not.

Romans 3:21 - 22
But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference;

Romans 5:17
For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)

The Igbo Canadian Community Association (ICCA/Umunna) has described the action of the Federal Government in arresting, detaining, torturing, arraignment and incarceration of 114 Igbo women members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Imo State as a deliberate affront on Ndigbo and a recipe for anarchy.

In a statement issued in Toronto, Canada, the President of the socio-cultural and political group, Chief Ugochukwu Okoro, through the Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mr. Ahaoma Kanu, said said “ICCA/Umunna wants to sound a warning that with the gross show of abhorrent and execrate behavior in which President Muhammadu Buhari’s led Federal Government responds to issues involving Ndigbo is becoming too brutal for our endurance and if not stemmed at this moment, may pave the way for anarchy.

The latest onslaught on Ndigbo by the FG on our grandmothers, mothers, wives and daughters, 114 of who were serially tortured with chemical agents and remanded in prison for exercising their constitutional rights to exercise their freedom of expression is one brutality too many.

Ndigbo have always engaged in dialogue and advised our young people to respect the rule of law but when there is an obvious selective law enforcement clothed in discrimination with an objective to bear down on a people by pushing them to the wall, the reaction, which history bears witness to, is always a situation that does nobody any good.

We condemn in the strongest of words the dehumanizing treatment meted out to our women whose ages ranged from 72 to 18 years by members of the Nigeria Police Force who used over 100 tear gas canisters on a group of women going on a peaceful protest that in no way caused any breach of peace or break down of law and order.

The Police forcefully arrested them, tore their clothes and shot tear gas canisters directly on the faces of aged women who were asking for the whereabouts of their leader and our son, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

On April 18, 2018, armed men accompanied by a member of the legislature alleged to be in the camp of President Buhari stormed the Senate and stole the mace and also, early this month, members of the Directorate for State Security (DSS) laid siege at the National Assembly in a clear attempted hijack of the democratic process in the country. These actions, said to be perpetuated with the knowledge of the presidency and his party, were not met with the ferocity with which Igbo women on a peaceful protest was tackled which is evident of President Buhari running an apartheid system of governance in issues concerning people of the South East.

People from other parts of the country are allowed to exercise their right to protest and peaceful assembly but when any person from the South East gathers to ask for legitimate issues of concern, the government unleashes law enforcement on them. This has made bare the agenda President Buhari had in orchestrating the proscription of IPOB to serve as a cover with which to continuously degrade, dehumanize and imprison the Igbo nation.

Lest the FG forget, on December 17, 2010, the action of a police officer who slapped a young food vendor in Tunisia led the victim to undertake an action that became a catalyst for what later became known as the Arab Spring. President Buhari should know that actions such as using chemical agents on defenseless women, initiating torture and abusing their human rights can equally lead to the Bouazizi-effect in the South East.

Let this hostility towards Ndigbo by this government STOP.
The ICCA/Umunna hereby demand the immediate and unconditional release of the 114 IPOB women members remanded in prison custody on the orders of Magistrate S.K. Kadurumba.

In a bid to ease the traffic for commuters following the closure of 3rd mainland bridge, here are alternative routes to follow.

As the Third Mainland Bridge closes to traffic between the midnight of Thursday, August 23 and Sunday, August 26, 2018, traffic maintenance officials have mapped out strategic and alternative routes where they will also be positioned to direct motorists and ensure compliance with traffic rules.

The alternative routes to use, as explained by the duo of Sector Commander of FRSC in the state, Mr. Hyginus Omeje; and the Chief Executive Officer of LASTMA, Mr. Chris Olakpe, are the following:

• Motorists coming from Lagos or Ibadan can use alternative routes to connect Ikorodu-Funso Williams, Western Avenue to Eko Bridge.

• Alternatively, from Toll Gate to Alapare-Ogudu, connect Iyana Oworo to Gbagada to Anthony, then down to Ikorodu Road.

• From Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, connect to Orile, then to Eko Bridge or Ijora Olopa.

• Moving out of Lagos Island, motorists can make their way to Adeniji Carter Bridge, Idumagbo down to Oyingbo, then to Herbert Macaulay in Yaba, to Ijora Olopa to Eko Bridge.

• People are encouraged to use the Bus Rapid Transit, BRT.

• Those coming from Ikorodu to CMS are advised to use the waterways.

Fresh F.M. Demolition: Ajimobi, Ayefele Meet; Govt Expresses Willingness To Pay
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 08-23-2018, 10:40 PM - No Replies

Towards resolving the crisis created by the demolition of the Music House housing Fresh F.M radio by the Oyo State government, the chairman of the radio station, Dr Yinka Ayefele and Governor Abiola Ajimobi, on Thursday, met at the Agodi Government House.

The two-level peace meeting, Tribune Online gathered, was facilitated by a top governorship aspirant in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Joseph Tegbe.

At the first level of the meeting, it was gathered the governor directed that a new building accommodating the additional parts of the building be approved for Ayefele immediately.

The ace gospel singer’s architect is to liaise with officials in the department of physical planning to work out the modalities and the approval, while the fence of the building would be moved back a few metres.

The governor, it was gathered, also expressed willingness to ensure financial compensation to Ayefele, with the terms of the recompense to be discussed at a later meeting between the governor and the proprietor of the station.

But the peaceful atmosphere that governed the first round of the meeting involving the governor gave way, as Ayefele and Arulogun were left to hold the second layer of the meeting.

Ayefele, a source said, was angered when the commissioner requested the management of Fresh F.M to be part of the “action plan” to redeem his image, that of the governor and the APC as part of the resolution of the matter.

An infuriated Ayefele was said to have rejected the request, saying Fresh F.M did not create the image problem and would not be part of its redemption.

Ayefele, said the source, wondered why the commissioner would be concerned about his image without considering the effect of the colossal loss to him and his staff.

He specifically accused Arulogun of goading the governor to carry out the demolition, instead of deploying his capacity to prevent demolition and the crisis that followed.

It was, however, unanimously agreed that hostilities and social media war between both the government and the radio station should end.

With the governor and Ayefele at the meeting were the Information Commissioner, Toye Arulogun; KPMG senior partner, Tegbe; the Director, Corporate Affairs of Yinka Ayefele Nigeria Limited, Mr David Ajiboye; anchor of Fresh F.M’s Political Circuit, Mr Isaac Brown, and others.

Why Saraki Is Afraid Of Reconvening - APC
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 08-23-2018, 03:09 PM - No Replies

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has said the Senate President Bukola Saraki has refused to reconvene National Assembly because he is afraid of impeachment.

The APC Acting National Publicity Secretary, Mr Yekini Nabena, in a phone interview with Daily Trust yesterday, said the Senator knew that the party had the two-third majority needed to impeach him.

Nabena said Saraki was just buying time thinking that the party would negotiate with him, advising the Senate President to reconvene National Assembly in the interest of the country.

When asked whether the APC was still insisting that National Assembly should reconvene to consider INEC Budget, virements from Mr President and other issues raised by the National Chairman, he said, “Yes, because it is for the good of the country and the masses if the National Assembly reconvenes. The budget is something that will affect everybody. So, it’s not for personal interest. Budget is meant for the country. We all know that the INEC issue is still outstanding, security and other issues of economic importance.

“So, we are still insisting that Senate President should reconvene the National Assembly. His only fear - he is afraid because he knows that the numbers are there. That is why he is afraid. But he is just buying time. All what he is doing is just to buy time to negotiate with him this time around.”

Asked if the APC was insisting that he (Saraki) should resign, Nabena said, “He needs to resign from the position since he has moved to the PDP. And this is not negotiable. Nobody is negotiating with him. And if he doesn’t, he will be impeached democratically.”

When reminded that there had been argument over what actually constituted the two-third majority, the APC acting spokesman said, “That is what I’m telling you. He knows that the two-third is there. He knows. That is why he is buying time. First of all, he must understand that the country comes first before any individual interest. If that is what is going to make the country move forward, the people also know that. So, the country cannot be held to standstill because of one man. So, if he is not afraid, let him come.”

2019: PDP Faults Kwankwaso, Reveals How Presidential Candidate Will Emerge
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 08-23-2018, 12:20 PM - No Replies

Quote:2019 Presidency: We won’t micro zone ticket — PDP

ABUJA—Ahead of the 2019 Presidential election, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has ruled out any possibility of micro zoning its ticket to a particular geo-political zone in the north.

National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan, disclosed this in reaction to a call by the lawmaker representing Kano Central senatorial district, Rabiu Kwankwaso, that the PDP should pick its presidential candidate from the North-West to stand a better chance of ousting All Progressives Congress, APC, from Aso Rock in 2019.

Ologbondiyan, who had often insisted that the leadership of the party would not stand in the way of delegates in the determination of the PDP flag bearer for the 2019 presidential election, noted that all aspirants would reach out to delegates to present their plans for Nigerians ahead of the polls.

He said: “Senator Kwankwaso said what in his opinion, represents the best option for the PDP but as a party that is democratic, there is no way we will shut out any aspirant because of where he comes from.

“The party has encouraged them (aspirants) to reach out to Nigerians and present their plans so that at the end, the one that will emerge the candidate will carry the others along.

“I repeat, we are not going to shut anybody out of the presidential race because we believe each of these aspirants has what it takes to outperform President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC if given the opportunity to preside over the affairs of this nation.”

The North-West currently has formidable aspirants on the platform of the PDP, including Senator Ahmed Makarfi, former governor of Kaduna State, his Kano and Sokoto states’ counterparts, Ibrahim Shekarau, and Attahiru Bafarawa respectively as well as erstwhile Special Duties Minister, Tanimu Turaki, and businessman, Sen. Datti Baba-Ahmed.

Omoyele Sowore Challenges Buhari To A Debate
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 08-23-2018, 11:32 AM - No Replies

Nigerian journalist and presidential aspirant, Mr. Omoyele Sowore, has challenged President Muhammadu Buhari of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and other presidential aspirants, to a debate.

Sowore is a presidential aspirant on the platform of his newly registered African Action Congress (AAC).

He said on Wednesday on Channels Television programme “Politics Today’’ that aspirants should be bold enough to participate in debates about policies and projects they will execute if they become president.

He added that young and new presidential aspirants should also be given the audience and the opportunity to challenge older aspirants through debate.

“If want you to be more serious, you should be bringing these presidential candidates to debate us.

“Buhari should be brought out. The media should force them out of their hiding. Let them come and debate the future of Nigeria,” he said.

He argued that contrary to claims, young people have come up with alternatives to the current leaders.

“These alternatives will kick out the old guards in 2019,” Sowore declared.

He stressed that younger presidential aspirants are the viable alternative and were capable of doing much more in directing affairs of the nation.

“The alternative is here, that is what we should be debating. We should be talking about the fresh ideas that we are bringing on the table.

“In Nigeria, when we have people like us who have capacity, character, and integrity. We’ve got stamina, intellect, history, and pedigree.

“Young people are here to take their country to the next level of prosperity. We want to say goodbye to poverty, incompetence and lacklustre kind of leadership.’’

Bode George: 'Oshiomhole's Utterances Capable Of Setting Nigeria On Fire'
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 08-23-2018, 11:24 AM - No Replies

Two elder statesmen, Chief Olabode George and Alhaji Balarabe Musa, on Wednesday came down heavily on Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), over his persistent threat that Senate President Bukola Saraki will be removed from office at all cost.

During his last meeting with APC National Assembly caucus, Oshiomhole had said Saraki will be removed legally as minority cannot preside over majority.

“I want to reassure the Nigerian people that we are committed to leading by example and that means absolute submission and obedience to the letters and spirit of the Nigerian constitution and everything we will do, we will ensure that it is done according to law, including the impeachment of Sen. Bukola Saraki. There is no hiding place for him. I insist, his time is up.

“The only way that, probably, he could have retained that seat is to decide to return but we will not be ready to welcome him. He must remain where he is and we will continue to ensure that he surrenders the presidency of the Senate to the majority party in the Senate – in line with the provisions of our constitution.

However, speaking with Daily Independent on Wednesday, George, a former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to call Oshiomhole to order as his utterances and threats on the issue of Saraki’s position is capable of setting the country on fire.

He also added that there is no basis for Saraki to resign as Aminu Tambuwal, Sokoto State governor, did not resign his position as speaker of the House of Representatives when he dumped the PDP for APC in 2014.

He said, “Why should he resign? I don’t think he should resign. When Aminu Tambuwal left our party for APC in 2014, did he resign as the speaker of the House of Representatives? He did not. So, what is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. How are we even sure who is the majority in the House?

“My advice is we should take things calmly. Like our brothers in the North will say ‘kadan kada’, Igbos will say nwayo, nwayo; and Yoruba will say ‘E fara bale oo’. That is what the situation in Nigeria today calls for. If we rush into this storm, we may not survive it.

“All these neophytes who are making noise here and there seem to have been too young to learn from history of this country. That was how the crisis in the Western region started. Like child’s play, that crisis led to the civil war. No nation goes through civil war twice and survive.

Let the will of the people be respected. That is why those who founded democracy stated unequivocally that in every four years, you go and renew your mandate. If they are satisfied with you, they will vote for you. If they are not satisfied with your performance, they dump you”.

Speaking further, George said Oshiomhole as national chairman of the ruling party should direct his energy on assisting the government to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians rather than engaging in flippant issues such as Saraki’s removal.

While calling on the APC helmsman to respect the wishes of the senators who elected Saraki, he said Oshiomhole must have been too young to learn from the Western region crisis of 1965 which later snowballed into the Nigerian civil war.

He said if war erupts in Nigeria today, the likes of Oshiomhole will be the first to flee while the masses in the country will be left to bear the brunt of the war.

“Let us be very careful. All these threats and talks are things that can conflagrate the country especially from the chairman of the APC. He must have been too young to learn what happened in the Western House. He should learn to respect the wishes of the senators who elected Saraki.

“When Saraki and others move from our party to their party, was there any crisis? He has a right to do what he wants to do. There is nothing tying him down. Why should he resign?

“Is Saraki’s resignation the major challenge confronting our nation today? We are talking about basic standards of living of Nigerians such as schools, good housing, infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare and good economic indices to attract investors. These are basic issues we should discuss not trying to be in power by force. It doesn’t make sense.

“Like the Yoruba will say ‘he abandoned leprosy and he is busy looking for cure for eczema’. People are hungry in the country. This is Sallah. How many people are able to buy ram?

“These are ideological issues he should address as chairman of the ruling party but he keeps shouting Saraki must resign. Is that an issue? Is that what will bring food to the table of Nigerians? What is wrong with this boy? He is behaving as if he is a dictator.

“Even those of us who went to the military have learnt the rudimentary things of what is called democracy and I want the president to take a cursory look at all these people and call them to order because they won’t be there if they create crisis. They will be the first to run away.

“They should tell him in clear terms that this is not a labour union. He is not in Edo State. What is the total number of registered voters in Edo State? Let him come to Lagos where we have 10 million registered voters only in Lagos State. He is trivialising issues as if he is a king in one local village. This is Nigeria.”

In his reaction, Musa who is the National Chairman, Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and former governor of Kaduna State, said aside the senators who elected Saraki, any other person demanding his resignation is merely wasting his time.

“What is the opinion of the senators who elected him in the first place? Are they also calling for his resignation? Because it is only they who can remove him. It is not the responsibility of APC to remove him or ask him to resign.

Buhari Forecloses Former DSS Boss Daura’s Return
User Avatar Forum: News

Buhari forecloses former DSS boss Daura’s return August 23, 2018 #THENATION

Despite pressure from some forces, including members of his kitchen cabinet, President Muhammadu Buhari has foreclosed the reinstatement of sacked Department of State Services (DSS) Director-General Lawal Daura, The Nation has learnt.

Some of the lobbyists, it was learnt, trailed the President to London to mount pressure for the reversal of Daura’s sack. He was relieved of his duties by then Acting President Yemi Osinbajo
Those against the ex-security chief’s return argued that his sack saved the nation’s democracy and boosted the Buhari administration’s democratic credentials.

The battle has since shifted to the Presidency, over the search for a new Director-General.
Some favour the retention of the office in the North. Many want acting DG Mathew Seiyefa to be confirmed to prove a point that the President has a national outlook.

The argument for Seiyefa is borne out of his having less than one year to retire. He has spent 34 years in service. A source, who spoke in confidence, said: “The forces pushing for Daura’s reinstatement have lost the battle because the President has foreclosed his return.

“The President has no plans to bring back Daura under any guise. He believes this administration is one and will not overrule his deputy. He is a man of discipline and not an ethnic bigot.
“What happened is that some ministers, a few kitchen cabinet members and influential people close to the President sneaked into London to meet with Buhari to overturn Daura’s sack.

“They alleged that Prof. Yemi Osinbajo sacked Daura before informing the President who was on vacation, said the source, who added:

“They were not aware that the President and the Vice President had discussed the fate of Daura and some security chiefs at least two weeks before the President proceeded on vacation in London. The two leaders had agreed on the need to effect a few changes.

“Osinbajo acted in line with the template set by his boss and acted appropriately.”
It was leaent that while in London, “a former Head of State and a minister in the kitchen cabinet advised the President to ignore these influential forces pushing for Daura’s return in view of the democratic mileage the administration scored with his removal after the unauthprised invasion of the National Assembly by hooded DSS operatives.

“The ex-Head of State warned on the diplomatic and international implications of reinstating Daura. The Minister also minced no words in confronting those who wanted the ex-DG back in office.” A source in government also gave insights into Daura’s removal.

The source said “while it is true that the Vice President sacked Daura before informing the President, it was in line with the earlier decision by the two leaders to tinker with the security apparatchik. “There was a template which the President would have worked on after the vacation which Osinbajo implemented.

Osinbajo informed the President of the action he took and the President endorsed it because the Presidency is one.”
“So, when Daura acted against democratic norms, he was invited to the Presidential Villa by the Acting President.

While seated in a part of Osinbajo’s office, waiting to see the VP, his removal.
“He was then escorted out of the back exit of the VP’s wing to a safe house for debriefing. There were no altercations in any manner between the VP and Daura.”

On the sucession matter, a security source said: “It is either the retention of Seiyefa or appointment of a new person as the substantive DG. For Seiyefa, who has less than a year left in service, this is the second time, he will be closer to clinching the job.”

Seiyefa In 2010, he lost to former DG Ita Ekpenyong, who was said to have been preferred by former President Goodluck Jonathan. Some “forces” are said to be pushing for a northern candidate to succeed Daura, but others in the kitchen cabinet have made a strong case for Seiyefa to prove a point that Buhari has a national character contrary to the accusation by some politicians that he is an ethnic bigot.

“ Seiyefa and three other Deputy Directors-General in the DSS are eminently qualified for the job. But Seiyefa is the most senior and for a service where hierarchy matters, he is first among equals,” the source said, noting however that “if Buhari goes out of the service to pick a new DG, it might lead to his exit and that of other three Deputy Directors-General”.

Bug Ebubemonso Emmanuel Obimma To Buhari: Resign Now, Your Govt A Disappointment
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 08-23-2018, 11:19 AM - No Replies

The Spiritual Director, Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry, Uke, Anambra State, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma, popularly known as Ebubemonso, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to resign.

Akelicious reports that the cleric based his call on Buhari’s alleged inability to take charge of happenings in the country.

Ebubemonso, who spoke as part of activities marking his 7th year Priestly ordination at his Umudioka residence, also demanded unreserved apology from the Federal Government to Ndigbo, particularly members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

He accused Buhari’s government of proscribing the group and branding them terrorists, “whereas terror groups like the Fulani herdsmen and Boko Haram killing people are handled with kid gloves.”

His speech read: “As you can see, there is crisis in the country. President Muhammadu Buhari is not in control of this country. People are dying on daily basis and I am not happy with it at all.

“There is indeed crisis in the country. I pray that our good Lord will salvage this country, Nigeria. There is crisis, even though those in authority are denying that there is political unrest in the country. I thank God, that God is answering our prayers. I believe that very soon, all these frictions, fracas and crisis will come to an end, because there is God.

“Well, my message for Muhammadu Buhari is let him resign since he cannot control the country. I said let him resign honourably because as you can see, he is not in control of the country, not only that, he is a sectional leader, a tribalistic leader.

“So, my stand is let him resign, as you can see his strength could no longer carry him. I am envisaging a situation where he will not be alive to complete the second term, if he comes out to campaign again. Let him resign honourably and find people who have the strength and capacity of managing the nation to carry on the baton. Nigeria is a big country and needs experts who have perfected in the political field to take control of the affairs of the nation. President Buhari is not that man.

On the controversies over the INEC’s 2019 election budget, he said: “the issue of INEC, the Senate and the Presidency, there are so many interests; they are saying so many things that we don’t know what to believe. I can’t say for sure but what I have to say is that you can see the inclination of political interests in the entire episode.

“Mark my words, APC groups are warming up to rig the election, as you can see the evidences are there. If by vote counting, APC can never win any election. If it is by counting of votes, there is no way this government will return because it is a government that is built on selfishness, nepotism, injustice. Government that is killing people, people are not happy with this government, so they knew that they under performed. What of those promises that Muhammadu Buhari made to the Nation before the election, none was accomplished, that, for me is a government of deception, running a government with deceit, it is very very bad.”

He added that “after the promises Buhari gave Nigerians before he was elected, nothing has changed. As you can see, many of our youths are unemployed, many a times when I pass or walk around the universities on mission, I see our young men, you know undergraduates, battalions of them, I ask myself what plans has the federal government have but as you can see, they don’t have any plan for them, that is why you will see somebody after being a graduate, the person will engage in one business or the other for him to survive.

“The hope of every average young man in other countries, their efforts in entering the university, studying very very hard and struggling to survive, trying to get degrees is for them to get a good job, but in our country Nigeria nothing is sure. You are a graduate, you have a wonderful certificate and that certificate is barren, certificate without satisfaction and government has no plan. It’s a pity.

“You know it has been my greatest worry. Go over there at the university and you will see people, you will see men and women, you will see our young undergraduates, sons and daughters, you know they are studying, but I am telling you that government has no plans for them, especially this government of President Buhari. Nigeria has never experience such a government, let Buhari stand up and tell us his achievements so far, let him say what he has achieved so far.

“This government has really under performed, really they came with the ideology of change but they didn’t change anything, so we are praying for another change, this one is real change that will upturn Buhari’s change that choked us. He came to power on false change promises which many believed; even a prophet of God prayed for him because everybody wanted change that will lead to a prosperous nation but here we are from frying pan to fire. Buhari is a huge disappointment to Nigeria.”

The Priest did not spare the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, who he said were not speaking out.

He said, “well, for me, Ohanaeze Ndigbo should know that Igbos are being marginalized and their voices are not felt, the voices of Ohanaeze Ndigbo is not felt. You know they are representing Igbos, let them come out and stand for Igbos and let the world and Igbos know they are standing for them, they can’t be answering Ohanaeze Ndigbo for nothing.

“I am not trying to say that they have not been making efforts but their efforts are not enough. Now IPOB came up as a result of poor governance and they are agitating that the federal government is marginalizing them. Igbos have been undergoing marginalization, that was the crusade of Nnamdi Kanu and Nnamdi Kanu was suppressed and intimidated, but I want to tell the Federal Republic of Nigeria that you can never kill an ideology.

“Let there be a strong dialogue between Ohaneze Ndigbo and IPOB to have one voice for Ndigbo. I advise the IPOB to go for peace even in their agitations, let there be love. I stand here to tell the country that their agitations are right. The agitations about the sovereign state of Biafra, about intimidation and suppression, they are right, so let the federal government look into it.

“If really Igbos are being marginalized, let them do something, we can’t be answering one Nigeria for mouth, just mere camouflage, one Nigeria on a table of sabotage. When you stifle what is meant for general consumption, that is economic sabotage, when you strangle what you supposed to give to brothers, that is wickedness.

“Let the federal government look into these agitations; it won’t end by shooting them, killing them on daily basis. Buhari should register an apology to Ndigbo for that kind of thing, how can innocent people who are agitating be proscribed? They are freedom fighters and Buhari proscribed them, branded them as terrorists whereas Boko Haram are killing people and nobody has ever proscribed them or branded them as terrorists. Fulani herdsmen are killing people on daily basis and nobody has ever proscribed and branded them terrorists. But agitating youths in the South East, my dear brothers were branded terrorists by their country Nigeria. Is this not outright intimidation?”

PDP Calls For Arrest Of Miyetti Allah Leaders
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 08-23-2018, 09:29 AM - No Replies

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded the arrest and trial of the leaders of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, over the association’s comment on plot to forcefully remove the President of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki.

PDP made the call in a Statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan on Wednesday in Abuja.

Ologbondiyan said such “unguarded statement” echoed the threats by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Presidency, to force out Saraki, from office, describing it as ominous and revealing.

He alleged that it had also been the same group that was being used to stoke division and create violent crisis that had resulted into daily blood lettings in various parts of the country.

He wondered how the association had now become the fourth arm of government that could determine when and how to forcefully remove the number three citizen, the President of the Senate.

He said it was in the light of these treasonable and inciting utterances by Miyetti Allah, PDP demanded that President Muhammadu Buhari, should within the next 24 hours, order the arrest and commence immediate trial of the leadership of the group.

“Finally, the PDP is aware that Miyetti Allah does not represent the views and interests of the vast majority of cattle breeders or even any ethnic group in the country.

“We therefore urge all good spirited Nigerians to rise in condemnation of the actions and utterances of these misguided elements, who are being used to attempt a constitutional breach that portends grave danger to national cohesion and our hard earned democracy.

Crude Oil Price Hits Two-week High At $74 As US Inventories Drop
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 08-23-2018, 09:27 AM - No Replies

Crude oil price Wednesday hit a two-week high above $74 per barrel as an industry report showing a sharp drop in United States crude inventories and the country’s sanctions on Iran pointed to tighter supplies.

While the global benchmark, Brent crude, rose $1.38 to $74.19, the highest since August 8, the United States crude gained $1.28 to $67.12 per barrel.

According to Reuters, the American Petroleum Institute reported US crude stocks fell last week by 5.2 million barrels, more than three times the decline analysts expected.

Oil also found support from a weak dollar, which has slipped this week in response to US President Donald Trump’s comment that he was “not thrilled” by the Federal Reserve’s interest rate increases.

A weaker dollar makes oil less expensive for buyers using other currencies.

The prospect of a drop in oil exports from Iran, the third-largest producer in the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), in response to new US sanctions was also supporting the market.

European oil companies have started to cut back on Iranian purchases, although Chinese buyers are shifting their cargoes to Iranian-owned vessels to keep supplies flowing.

Iran has warned that it would hit US and Israeli targets if it were attacked by the US after Trump’s security adviser said Washington would exert maximum pressure on Tehran going beyond economic sanctions.

OPEC has started to boost supplies following a deal with Russia and other allies in June, although producers have been cautious so far.

Saudi Arabia told OPEC it cut supply in July, rather than increasing output as expected.

Signs of tighter supply countered concern about slowing oil demand stemming partly from the trade dispute between the United States and China, the world’s two largest economies.

US and Chinese officials were set to resume talks Wednesday, but Trump said he expected there would be no real progress

Meanwhile, the US crude stocks fell last week, while refined petrol and distillate inventories rose, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) confirmed Wednesday.

Crude inventories fell by 5.8 million barrels in the last week, compared with analysts’ expectations for an decrease of 1.5 million barrels.

Crude stocks at the Cushing, Oklahoma, delivery hub rose by 772,000 barrels, EIA said.

Refinery crude runs fell by 89,000 barrels per day, EIA data showed. Refinery utilisation rates remained unchanged.

Gasoline stocks rose by 1.2 million barrels, compared with analysts’ expectations in a Reuters poll for a 488,000-barrel drop.

Distillate stockpiles, which include diesel and heating oil, rose by 1.8 million barrels, versus expectations for a 1.5 million barrels increase, the EIA data showed.

Net US crude imports fell last week by 1.1 million barrels per day.

Morning Devotional For Thursday 23rd August

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

THURSDAY, 23RD AUGUST.

YOUR LIFE IS FOR HIS GLORY .

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue (2 Peter 1:3).

God’s Word, apart from showing you His will for your life also reveals your inheritance in Christ. 2 Corinthians 8:9 declares, “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.” Jesus became poor that we might become rich. So all you’ve got to do to enjoy the life of prosperity He’s given you is to live in His Word! God didn’t create you to suffer and struggle through life; He created you for His glory.

Your submission to God’s Word as final authority in your life is the key to living in your inheritance in Christ and enjoying life to the full. There’s nothing the Lord hasn’t done for you yet. Ephesians 1:3 says, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, WHO HATH BLESSED US WITH ALL SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS IN HEAVENLY PLACES IN CHRIST.” He has already granted you every blessing you could ever imagine. This parallels what we read in our opening verse: He’s already given you all things that pertain to life and godliness.

Your life, therefore, should be one of praise, glory, and thanksgiving to the Lord every day, everywhere, and at all times. The Bible says you’ve been called to glory and virtue (2 Peter 1:3), and not to poverty, sickness, disease or infirmity. Your life is for the glory of God.

The Bible lets us know that the prophets of old testified of the sufferings of Christ and the glory that should follow (1 Peter 1:11). Right after the sufferings of Christ, a life of glory ensued. He suffered so that you would live in the glory. You’re in that glory now. If anybody is suffering today, that suffering is unnecessary.

If, for example, you’ve had problems in your physical body, maybe it’s a growth somewhere in your body; command it to die. Don’t complain about the pain. Use the Word against it. Affirm your healing and health. Declare your prosperity. Speak life. Declare that your journey in life is one direction only: upward and forward. Affirm that you’re triumphant all the way, and your life is for the glory of God.

CONFESSION

My life is for the glory of God! I’m triumphant all the way; my journey in life is in one direction only: upward and forward. Today, my faith is strong and alive; the world is subdued before me, because I function by the dominion of the Spirit. Blessed be God!

1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, [even] our faith.

2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, [even] as by the Spirit of the Lord.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

23RD AUGUST.

I affirm that the Lord is my strength and my glory; I am stirred and ready for anything, and competent to excellently accomplish any task, through God’s Spirit that infuses inner strength into me! I am sufficient in His sufficiency! I’ve been qualified to be a partaker of the inheritance of the saints in light.

Darkness has no place in me, for I am native-born to the light. I manifest this light to my world ever so brightly today and always. I refuse to fret today or in the future because the light of the Gospel shines in my heart, showing me the path of victory and success! There’s no darkness whatsoever in my life; my way is bright and my future secure.

I know that my tomorrow is greater than my today because the path of the just is as a shining light that shines brighter and brighter unto the perfect day. I am confident to face anything that comes my way because I know my victory is assured. My faith is producing undeniable results; I prevail over every challenging situation because the greater One lives in me, and I am strong in Him, and in the power of His might.

I am a success; I am immune to defeat and failure. I can never be disadvantaged because I am an associate of the Godkind! Everywhere I go, I manifest the excellence of the Spirit. The life of God in me makes me superior to the devil and all his works. Glory to God. Hallelujah!

SPEAK IN OTHER TONGUES NOW

PDP Will Win Next Year Presidential Election - Saraki Boasts
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 08-22-2018, 11:18 PM - No Replies

Quote:Senate President Bukola Saraki on Wednesday boasted that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party will win the 2019 presidential elections.

Saraki said this in Ilorin at a meeting with PDP members who came from the 16 local government areas of the state.

He also expressed his confidence that his new party would emerge victorious in all the local government areas of Kwara State.

Saraki said that the victory of PDP at both federal and state levels would be beneficial to all the members in the state.

The Senate President said that the future of PDP was now brighter than it used to be.

“If we emerge victorious at the federal level, all of us will be the beneficiaries. In the state, with your support we will win the state for PDP.

“All of you here are the key players in Kwara politics. With unity of purpose, no party can contest with you.

“We are here to unite all of us under the party we belong to today. I am assuring all members that there will be equity, internal democracy and justice.

“It is not going to be winners take all. As far as I am concerned, everybody here today belong to our political structure.

“There is nothing like old or new Peoples Democratic Party. We have all become one PDP.

“I want all of us to be united for the progress and development of Kwara State.

“As par the politics of the state, nobody can wrest the power from us I if we are united. By the grace of God we will emerge victorious both at the federal and state levels.

“We will ensure that we work as one party because we have always worked together before.

“We will see that all the wards and local governments’ popular candidates emerge based on their popularity and acceptability,” Saraki said.

He assured PDP members that there would be no anointed candidates in all the elective positions.

“I don’t have any anointed candidate at all levels. I don’t have candidates for the state Assembly, National Assembly. It is the person you want in your constituency that I will okay.

“Don’t allow anybody to deceive you that I have endorsed any candidate,” he said.

The Senate President implored party leaders and elders not to drop his name to impose unpopular candidates.

“All of us will collectively choose who becomes the next governor. We will ensure that there is no faction, but one PDP.

“We will ensure that meetings in the local government areas take place in one venue. And we will all work together for the interest of the party,” he said.

Saraki appealed to all party members to start work for the party to emerge victorious next year.

“I am sure many more will come back and join us because those that left under the wrong assumption that it will be different from what it used to be.

“They were misled that those coming are out to move them away. Nobody is moving you away because this place belongs to you too.

“Let us go back and start work closely together and by the grace of God we will all be victorious,” the Senate President said.

APC Has Made Saraki Current Issue In Nigerian Politics – Senators Misau & Rafiu
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 08-22-2018, 11:16 PM - No Replies

Quote:Posted By: Onyedi Ojiabor,

Chairman, Senate Committee on Navy, Senator Isah Hamma Misau and his counterpart in the Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions, Senator Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim, on Wednesday said that the manner in which the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) left all issues which should get serious attention from the ruling party and focused on attacking Bukola Saraki has made the Senate President the issue in Nigerian politics.

In a statement signed by the two Senators, they queried whether the APC is being fair to Nigeria by allegedly focusing on one individual and making him the subject of all discussions instead of telling Nigerians what APC has done in the last 38 months that it has been in power.

The duo said, “This is the first time in the history of the country that the ruling party will leave the issue of its achievements and start blaming its failure on just one individual, no matter who the individual is.

It is also the first time a ruling party will plan to hoodwink Nigerians by saying everything wrong under its watch is due to the action and inaction of one man.

“APC has devoted all the time and knowledge of their national chairman, national leader, publicity Secretary, four senators and two presidential aides to the daily abuse of Saraki, such that it appears as if Saraki is the only politician in Nigeria today. They have made Saraki the issue in Nigerian politics today.

If these individuals devote the energy they are exerting on Saraki to finding solutions to the security problem, economic crisis and collapse of infrastructure, among them, they will come out with some action plan, except they are only skillful in mischief making.

“We can see through this plot. The plan is to get Saraki so engrossed in the battle for survival in the Senate and the pummeling from the APC cabal such that he will have no time to pursue his aspiration for 2019. However, this is a short time strategy. It will not work. That is why the man remains unfazed by the antics.

“We are surprised that all the decisions that the Senate took as an institution is now blamed on Saraki. Are we also going to give the credit of all the achievements of the Senate to Saraki as well?

“The laws that have been signed by the President and which led to the World Bank improving the rating of Nigeria in the Ease of Doing Business Report, the Petroleum Industry Governance Bills which broke the jinx of over 14 years on the law, the progressive constitution amendment bills, the five anti-corruption laws, and many others, as well as the fact that the 8th Senate has done better than the previous ones in terms of number of bills passed, the petitions successfully treated and the various interventions: will all these be credited to Saraki and not the entire Senate?

“You blame a man for what an institution lawfully did. Is this not dishonest?
“Senate leader, Ahmed Lawan who moved the motion for our adjournment till September 25 and the Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio who seconded the motion are in APC, yet they kept quiet when all the falsehood is being peddled now that Saraki “unilaterally and hurriedly adjourn the Senate”.

“These Senators kept quiet about their roles simply because they want to be good boys. When the motion for adjournment was carried by voice vote, no dissenting voice was heard.

“Many people who are grandstanding now do not care how history will record their roles. How can those who play key roles in the Senate now turn round and be blaming everything on one man? Is Saraki now a superman? Is he not just one Senator like each and every one of us?

“Let us play back all the tape records of the Senate proceedings. Which of the decisions that are now being criticized did the APC pretenders in the Senate oppose? Of the ten- man Senate leadership, five of them are in APC.

“Those who enjoy privileges in the Senate now look the other way when the Presidency is complaining.”

“We abide by the principle of collective responsibility. This Eighth Senate under Saraki has done well. It has set a standard that the legislature should not be an appendage of the executive. It is an independent arm of government. Both arms need to extend the hands of fellowship to each other and the duty to work for co-operation does not lie on just one of them.

“We will however warn the APC that they will meet a match in those of us in PDP if they try to foment trouble in the Senate whenever we resume.

”They have made many attempts to subvert this Senate, including stealing of our mace, brutalizing of members of staff of the Senate, invasion of the Senate complex with hooded and masked security agents, refusal to sign important bills, using security agents and anti-corruption agencies to intimidate members and the leadership as well as initiating malicious prosecution against members.”

Borehole Collapses In Kogi 3 Weeks After Commissioning

Kogi residents have been left shocked after a borehole which was built and commissioned by the new direction team led by White Imenika, collapsed this morning at Ofejikpi area, three weeks after commissioning.

According to reports, 68% of the boreholes built by the new direction team are said to be non-functional again - few months/weeks after commissioning due to mechanical or electrical fault.

Facebook user, Enemama Sam Akubor, took to Facebook to share the report, as he wrote in parts;

My advice to kogites is simple,we should be extra careful when approaching any infrastructure build by the new direction team. Or preferably make use of alternative sources.

While other States are empowering and improving lives through infra structural and social facilities, ours in kogi the new direction government is endangering humans life and the environment via infrastructural and social facilities...

Lecturers Who Are Not Doctors ‘should No Longer’ Teach Medical Students

Lecturers who are not doctors ‘should no longer’ teach medical students

Bodies of medical and dental practitioners in Nigeria say lecturers who are not medical doctors will no longer be allowed to teach medical students.

At a meeting convened by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) and Medical and Dental Consultants’ Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) in Abuja, the stakeholders said only medical doctors with degrees in basic medical sciences should lecture students.

The medical practitioners also lamented the pass rate of foreign trained medical students, who sit for medical examination in the country.

They said the high failure rate in post-graduate medical education is a reflection of poor training and assessment methods which needs improvement.

“Medical doctors with degrees in basic medical sciences should lecture basic medical sciences in medical schools. Lecturers in basic medical sciences who are not medical doctors should be phased out over time,” the report read.

“There are 42 universities where undergraduate medical education is taking place in Nigeria. Thirty two of the medical schools are fully accredited while 10 are partially accredited as at 2018. There are nine dental schools and three specialised universities of medical sciences.

“About 3,700 medical students gain admission yearly. The pass rate of foreign trained medical students who sat for the MDCN exam has been reducing over time with the lowest being 15% in February 2018.

“Undergraduate medical education in Nigeria is challenged by outdated curriculum, lecturers who are not medical doctors especially at the basic medical sciences level, insufficient or lack of teaching aids, sub-standard library, decay of infrastructure and laboratories, lecturers who are not themselves educators, and inadequately equipped clinics.

“MDCN should ensure that graduating medical students have places to do horsemanship. It was suggested that private hospitals, general hospitals and some district hospitals can be affiliated with teaching hospitals and federal medical centres for the purpose of increasing the spaces available for house job.”

How to use IMEI number to track your lost Android phone
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: trustangel - 08-22-2018, 09:51 PM - Replies (1)

IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) is a unique 15-digit code authorized by GSMA, just like an identity certificate for your phone. Every time a phone uses a particular network to make or receive a call, send or receive a message, its IMEI number is automatically emitted and tracked. Because the police and service providers have databases in which these ID numbers fall into white and black lists, an owner can report his/her IMEI number and make it blacklisted after a theft.
In our daily lives, some people use a Bluetooth tracer GPS locator to locate smartphones nearby — however, this approach has distance limitations.

If, unfortunately, your phone has been taken out of the 10-meter range, use the IMEI number and an anti-theft tracker to know where it is and turn it into nothing more than a brick for the thief.

Get the IMEI number of your Android phone

Getting to know the number is easy. The fastest way is to dial *#06#, a command to make the unique ID appear.
 [Image: How-to-Use-IMEI-Number-to-Track-Your-Los...one-k2.jpg]
Another easy way to find the IMEI number is to navigate through "Settings" and tap "About Phone" to check the IMEI code of your Android phone.
[Image: How-to-Use-IMEI-Number-to-Track-Your-Los...one-k3.jpg]
In most cases, the IMEI number exists on the reverse side of a phone, or underneath the removable battery. If your phone is lost, but its packaging is kept, you are still able to find the IMEI number on the label.

Read See the unseen: How to reveal your IMEI number EASILY to know more details to find the serial number. Please note that if your phone supports two SIM cards at the same time, there are two different IMEI numbers.

Locate your lost phone with an IMEI tracker App

There are many phone finder apps available for you on Google Play, such as AntiTheft App & IMEI Tracker All Phone LocationFind Lost PhoneFind My DeviceSeekDroid: Find My Phone, and so on. Most can be activated by the SMS you send; some support using the IMEI number. Let's take the first one for example.

Step 1: Search for "IMEI tracker" in Google Play, find "AntiTheft App & IMEI Tracker All Phone Location" on your phone. Make sure your phone is running on Android 4.4 or higher. Then, start installing the app.
 [Image: How-to-Use-IMEI-Number-to-Track-Your-Los...one-k5.jpg]

Step 2: After finishing the installation, run the app. Give all the permissions that the app asks for, including contacts, calls, storage, SMS, and location. In case you need to track your phone, all these permissions will be necessary to activate full functionality.

Step 3: Press "continue" to move on after watching a short commercial. This free app is great, but the only problem is that it contains ads that you have to watch. Unluckily, you cannot skip the ads, if the video is not yet loaded, you will not be able to go to the next step.

Step 4: Input the IMEI number of your lost Android phone, check your input, and tap "Track". A small window with a list of places will appear, indicating the location and the close proximity of your phone.

Using the IMEI number to track the lost phone is not the only function of an IMEI tracker. There are also some important anti-theft functions that you should know about.

To protect your device further — and before the theft — you should set the PIN number and remember it. Thus, you can control the stolen phone by sending the corresponding codes to make it give out alarms, send SMS about its real-time location, sync data to the device you are using and more.

ATSSSAN to ground MMA2 in two week over 26 sacked union workers

AIR Transport Senior Staff Services Association of Nigeria ( ATSSSAN) National Executive Council (NEC) has issued a two-week ultimatum to the management of Bi-Courtney Aviation Services limited (BASL) to recall 26 of its staff whose appointments it terminated because they joined the union or
 face grave industrial showdown.

The union in its communique signed by Deputy General Secretary, Comrade Frances Akinjole and National President, Comrade Ahmadu Ilitrus also advised all domestic operators utilizing facilities at MMA2 Lagos to make alternative arrangements to avert unscheduled disruption of operations at the terminal at the expiry of the ultimatum.

Recall, management of BASL were accused to have sacked 26 of its workers because they voluntarily joined the union, this which was denied by BASL which said the staff were relieved because they had attained retirement age or those who were found not deliver in their duties.

ATSSSAN was one of the two unions that issued the earlier threat which expired on the 28th of May, 2018 however no action was taken due to the intervention of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and some security agencies.
However, the union has alleged to the BASL management frustrating the recall and is bent on taking action.

A statement made available to Nigerianflightdeck.com read,”NEC-in-Session condemned in the strongest terms the uncivil manner by which the management of Bi-Courtney Aviation Services limited (BASL) ingloriously terminated the appointments of 26 of its staff who voluntarily joined ATSSSAN.”

“The NEC commended the intervention of the State Security Services (Airport Command), the Airport Police Command, the Military Commandant (MMIA Airport) and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for the roles they played in seeking amicable resolution of the issue.”

“NEC thus condemned the deliberate frustration of the efforts of above government agencies by the management of Bi-Courtney. To this end, the NEC resolved that if the management of Bi-Courtney does not recall the terminated staff and allow unfettered unionization of wiling staff of the company within 2 weeks from the date of the publication of this communiqué, ATSSSAN shall embark on a series disruption of operations at MMA2 until the management of BASL complies with its demands.”

“The NEC therefore advises all domestic operators utilizing facilities at MMA2 Lagos to make alternative arrangements to avert unscheduled disruption of operations at the terminal.”

Fraudsters Defraud Us-based Businessman Of N33million (photo)
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 08-22-2018, 03:09 PM - Replies (1)

Quote:Some suspected fraudsters have allegedly defrauded a United States-based Nigerian businessman, James Okolo, of N33m.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the Anambra State indigene, who owned a company, C & J Majesty Global Trading Company Limited, had visited the country for a business.

A friend of his was alleged to have introduced him to Ogbonyomi Taiye, who claimed to be a licensed oil dealer in the country.

Our correspondent gathered that after the duo signed a Memorandum of Understanding on February 2, 2018, Okolo paid $80,000 (N28.8m) to Taiye for crude oil.

The money was said to be part payment for shipment of two million barrels of Bonny Light Crude Oil, as the parties agreed that an additional $40,000 would be paid upon a successful delivery of the product.

The vessel purportedly conveying the oil was allegedly diverted to India.

Okolo, who spoke to our correspondent, said he petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, over the case.

The victim lamented that efforts to recover his funds had been abortive.

He said, “Uzoma (friend), a man I trusted brought Engineer Taiye, who said he would deliver petroleum products to my company through the official channel. He said we would have to charter a vessel.

“He gave us the name of the vessel and other particulars. With the way the communication was going, we thought we were dealing with an honest person. He went as far as signing an agreement with us and that was how we got convinced that he was real.

“But immediately the money was transferred, things went wrong. He said he would pay back the money, but since February, when this incident happened, we have not got our money back.

“I called Engineer Taiye and he made me to stay in a hotel for three months, spending about N5m. When he was arrested, the police brought me back to Nigeria and despite spending more time and money; I did not get back the money.”

The 50-year-old said it was the second time he would be allegedly defrauded in two years.

“I came to provide jobs for the less privileged in Nigeria, but it is unfortunate that this is happening. It appears that scammers don’t want foreigners and Nigerians abroad to help the less privileged.

“Engineer Taiye claimed to be a petroleum dealer with regular allocation from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation. Uzoma was the one who introduced him to me. I am worried because this is not giving us a good image abroad and my business partners have been on my neck,” he added.

A police source said Uzoma was the first to be arrested and arraigned, adding that Taiye was arrested in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on July 13, 2018.

It was gathered that after the arrest of Taiye, another businessman, Dr Godknows Itamunaola, surfaced at the SCIID and allegedly said the suspect had equally defrauded him.

“In the course of investigation, it was discovered that the suspect is a serial fraudster. On June 23, he defrauded one Dr Godknows Itamunaola of the sum of N1.3m,” the source added.

The Kogi State indigene was subsequently arraigned before an Ebute-Meta Magistrates’ Court on two separate charges of fraud.

The first charge read in part, “That you, Ogbonyomi Bartholomew Taiye, and others at large, on February 12, 2018, on Ariyo Street, in the Ejigbo area of Lagos State, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony, to wit: obtaining money under false pretences, stealing and issuance of dud cheque….

“That you, Ogbonyomi Bartholomew Taiye, and others at large, on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned magisterial district, with intent to defraud, did obtain the sum of N33.8m from one James Okolo of C & T Majesty Global Trading Co. Limited under the pretence of supplying Bonny Light Crude Oil to him, a representation you knew to be false….”

The police prosecutor, Cyril Ajiofor, said the offences were punishable under sections 411, 314 and 280 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges and elected summary trial.

The magistrate, A.O. Komolafe, admitted him to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties each in like sum.

The case was adjourned till September 17, 2018.

NBC Condemns Demolition Of Yinka Ayefele's Fresh FM By Oyo Govt
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 08-22-2018, 03:04 PM - No Replies

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has condemned the demolition of the structure housing the Fresh FM in Ibadan by the Oyo State Government.

The Director-General of NBC, Ishaq Midibbo-Kawu, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin, said the demolition was a worrisome development and did not speak well of the state government.

The structure, “Music House, ” reportedly valued at N800 million and which had been in operation for 10 years, was demolished in the early hours of Sunday.

The property is owned by a popular musician, Yinka Ayefele.

Kawu said: “The development is worrisome because for all it is worth, the broadcast outfits are playing a big role in reducing unemployment, especially in this situation where many young Nigerians are idle.

“They also play social, informational, educational and entertaining roles in the society.

“Such development does not speak well of the government and has a negative effect on the nation, especially at a point when more broadcasting outfits are influencing the social space in the country.

“In this case particularly, there are so many issues that can be weaved up negatively by people.

“We hope that as we move forward, we will be able to find a solution to the situation,” Modibbo-Kawu said.

The director-general said when the NBC got hint of the demolition, he made some contacts with some people in the state.

Kawu said that he could, however, not stop it.

The NBC boss promised to set up a meeting with the state government on finding a way forward on the issue.

The NBC boss recalled a similar experience in Nasarawa State about a year ago when the property housing Breeze 99.9 FM was demolished.

“What we did was to meet our licensee to find out what the issues were because he was prepared to go to court.

“We also met with the state Commissioner for Information and the Governor.

“The issue also was that the building violated the usage of urban space.

“We were able to reach an agreement that the government should give the broadcaster a new plot of land and assist him to go back to building a new station.

“However, just last week, I got a letter that the side of the government in the agreement had not been fulfilled,” he said.

Modibbo-Kawu also clarified the recent media report that his commission banned some songs, saying Nigerians must understand the statutory mandate of the NBC.

“It is important to let Nigerians understand that NBC does not ban any song.

“I read on social media platforms all the time that NBC banned a song; the commission never bans any song.

“What NBC does all the time is to remind our licensees that there are certain categorisation of music that are important in broadcasting.

“If a song is categorised, “Not To Be Broadcast” (NTBB) because of the lyrics of the song, then, we will remind the broadcasters that they cannot be broadcast.

“This is what it is misinterpreted in the social media that we banned the song,” he said

The director general also refuted the allegation that NBC was “carrying out a Jihad on Nigerian songs” based on a petition by a faith-based human rights organisation, Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC).

He stressed that the NBC did not carry out any Jihad, but only responded to a song on a radio station because it had lyrics that were NTBB.

Kawu gave an assurance that the Federal Government, through the NBC, would not infringe on artistic liberty or licence.

He, however, reminded artistes and broadcast organisations of their responsibilities to Nigerians and the youths, in particular.

“Last week, I issued a press release to urge Nigerian artistes to have different versions of their songs.

“They should do a version that can be used for public broadcast space and another version for club usage which can carry all kinds of lyrics that they want.

“If they want their songs to be broadcast on radio and television in Nigeria, these songs must conform to rules and must be songs that young people can listen to,” he said.

He disclosed that the commission was planning a national dialogue with Nigeria leading artistes on the need to avoid vulgar lyrics and hate speeches in their songs.

“The truth of the matter is that 75 per cent of our population is under the age of 35 while 63 per cent is under the age of 25, so we have a younger population.

“If you go on Youtube, Olamide song, “Wo” has over 10 million hits.

“ That tells you the kind of influence these young artistes have on all our children in the country.

“They should help to orientate the young people on the right values.

“If their songs celebrate sex, violence, the use of drugs, alcohol and fraud, then they are not helping in the moulding of young people

“We believe that the young generation who listen to them can be guided through the use of their artistic works to play functional social purposes in the society,” he said.

He said the dialogue would focus on the need for the artistes to use their music to propagate positive messages about development.

Ngige: N50,000 NYSC Monthly Allowance Increase Is False. No Increment Yet
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 08-22-2018, 03:00 PM - Replies (2)

Minister for Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige has dismissed reports that the Federal Government was planning to increase the monthly allowance for youth corps members.

Rumours had been rife weeks ago that the Federal Government was planning to increase the monthly allowance from N19,800 to N50,000, but Ngige has said there’s no truth in it.

He said in a press briefing in Anambra that the Federal Government wouldn’t increase the allowance of corps members without first coming out with a minimum wage for the Nigerian workers.

“No recommendation has come to the Federal Executive Council on this. The NYSC pay is on the sliding scale; the same sliding scale with the national minimum wage except that there is a top up; what is called top up on the national minimum wage is to make for special transport allowance for members of the NYSC,” he said.

“That is why today, the national minimum wage is N18,000, and the top up for NYSC members is about N1,500 making it N19,500. This is what the Federal Government pays each corps member.

“For now, there is no figure before us as an increment and as a matter of fact, the last Federal Executive Council had mandated the Minister of Youths and Sports to liaise with the Director General of the NYSC so that he can be brought on board for us to work as a team,” the minister further stated.

Why Saraki, Tinubu Are Fighting – Afenifere
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 08-22-2018, 02:55 PM - Replies (3)

The apex Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere, has revealed the only reason the Senate President Bukola Saraki and the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bolaji Tinubu are exchanging words.

Afenifere described the situation as the elevation of personal interests and ambitions over national good and development by politicians in the country.

It noted that the verbal exchanges between Tinubu and Saraki were all about their personal interests.

Spokesman of Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin, while reacting to the fight between the two former governors and party members, told Punch that it was disappointing to see the two men more interested in personal ambitions than in national good and progress.

“You cannot see anything in these exchanges that talk about national good or higher values,” he said.

“The only thing that was substantial was when Saraki said he was against Muslim-Muslim ticket in 2014.

“If that was true, it would have been unthinkable in a Nigeria so badly divided as it is today.

“Clearly, the arguments were about personal interests and ambitions.”

NCDMB Seeks Listing Of Oil Firms On Stock Exchange
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 08-22-2018, 10:10 AM - No Replies

The Executive Secretary, Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr. Simbi Wabote has urged investors in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry to get listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE in order to attract adequate funds required to grow their businesses.
Speaking at the closing gong ceremony at NSE, Lagos recently, Wabote said that indigenous companies and their service counterparts would also benefit from the corporate governance principles demanded from businesses that float their shares on the Exchange.

He stated that listing on the stock market would also change the operating model of the oil and gas industry and enable the pooling of funds for growth, empowerment and inclusion of Nigerians in the activities of the sector, he remarked. The Executive Secretary noted that oil and gas companies currently listed on the NSE were majorly downstream players and harped on the need for upstream and midstream concerns to also go public. He stated, “We see opportunity to collaborate with the Nigerian Stock Exchange to increase the depth and breadth of listings using our 10-year strategy as a driver. For us in the Board, we have commenced multiple strategic initiatives to bring the roadmap into fruition.” He said that the NCDMB took 30 percent equity in a 5,000 barrels per day modular refinery in order to enable the government refine at least 10 percent of the nation’s oil output, using modular refineries. Wabote added, “We see opportunity to divest such equity via the Nigerian Stock Exchange so that Nigerians and other investors can be part owners of such enterprises.” The Executive Director, Regulations, NSE, Ms. Tinuade Awe who represented the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Oscar Onyema at the event and commended NCDMB for the remarkable achievements it had recorded in the implementation of the Nigerian Content Act in the oil and gas industry.
