RHAPSODY OF REALITIES,

SATURDAY 19TH JUNE 2021.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome

TOPIC: ESTABLISH HIS WILL FOR YOUR WORLD
Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh… (Jeremiah 17:7-8).

In Hebrews 11:3, the Bible says, “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God….”The word “framed” is “katartizō” (Greek), and it means to repair or adjust, to complete thoroughly, to restore, prepare, mend or to make perfect. With faith, you can frame the course of your life in line with God’s perfect will.

There’re things happening in your world today—circumstances and situations—that aren’t consistent with the will of God. They try to mess up your world; don’t let that happen; frame your world.
Your responsibility is to establish the will of the Father in the earth. His will won’t be fulfilled without His hand, and you’re His hand to establish His perfect will. It’s your life, your ministry, and calling to establish the will of the Father as far as it concerns you in your world. Otherwise, it’ll not happen.

Don’t fold your hands and watch the devil wreak havoc in your life, family, city or country, or in the lives of your loved ones. Let the Word of God in your heart come out from your mouth. With the Word on your lips, you truncate and decimate the efforts of the adversary!

In Joel 2:28, when God said, “...I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy...,” He was letting you know with what to control the “aions,” the circumstances of your life; it’s by your words of prophecy! You can live in an oasis of peace in a troubled world.

The whole world can be chaotic, rocking around you, whereas you’re in absolute peace. That’s the message in our theme verse: you’ll not know when heat comes. They may be depressed, and you’re in absolute prosperity. How? Through your faith-filled words. Don’t keep the Word only in your heart; speak it forth and frame your world! Frame how you want things to be with you and for you.

CONFESSION

By the power of the Holy Spirit, I declare that only the counsel of God is established in my life and in my world. I frame the circumstances of my environment in conformity with God’s perfect will. Satan has nothing in me, and his agenda in my “aion” is truncated, and the Name of the Lord is glorified. Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY:

Hebrews 11:1-3
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good report. 3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

Joshua 1:8
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Mark 11:23
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

DAILY SCRIPTURE READING

1-YEAR BIBLE READING PLAN
Acts 8:9-40 & 2 Chronicles 33-34

2-YEAR BIBLE READING PLAN
Luke 2:21-32 & Deuteronomy 17

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

I affirm that the Lord has done great and wondrous things in my life! My heart is filled with joy; joy unspeakable and full of glory. My heart rejoices in His goodness, for He has filled my mouth with laughter and songs of praise.

I am strengthened because the joy of the Lord in my spirit is my strength. Gloom, depression, and heaviness are far from me, for I carry an atmosphere of joy with me everywhere I go.

My life is garnished by the spirit of God; for I am the workmanship of God in Christ Jesus; created unto good works. I only do good works because I was born and fashioned unto good works! I’ve passed from death to life; sin and all its rudiments have no power over me. I

’ve received an anointing from the Holy One and that anointing opens my understanding to all things. Daily, I am taught by the Spirit of God, and hidden things are unveiled to my spirit. I

am led and guided by the Spirit, my choices and decisions are founded on by the Word. Wisdom guides me and moves me from within to take the right steps that are consistent with God’s purpose and calling for my life. I will never walk in confusion or lose my way.

I am set on the path of success, glory, victory, and divine destiny! I am walking in preordained pathways, for predestination is at work in me! The course of events in my life has been structured by God to bring Him glory, having established me to fulfil my destiny of Him! Glory to God. Hallelujah!

God bless you

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES,

FRIDAY 18TH JUNE 2021.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome

TOPIC: A KNOWLEDGE OF RELATIONSHIP

Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him (Ephesians 1:16-17).

Just because you’ve been a Christian for a long time doesn’t necessarily mean you’d be effective for God, and in the things of God. It takes more than singing nicely, praising God joyfully, and even preaching, to be effective for Christ and for the Kingdom; you have to know Him in a very personal way.

That’s the reason for Paul’s prayer for the baby church in Ephesus, as read in our opening verse. Paul heard about their love for God; they were excited about the things of God. But he knew they lacked something and prayed that the Lord would grant it to them: “...the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him….”

There’s a certain type of knowledge, a certain type of revelation of God that you ought to have; it’s called “Epignosis” (Greek); knowledge that relates with the known; a knowledge of relationship. This knowledge is different from theology, or mere science.

You can appropriate that prayer of the Spirit through Paul for yourself; put your name there and say, “I have the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the accurate knowledge of God.” You’ll experience the unveiling! It’s the work of the Spirit of God.

Without this kind of knowledge, you’ll be a religious Christian, doing things religiously, without having a real relationship with God. When you have that relationship, you no longer see Him as the God of David or the God of Elijah; He becomes your God; He’s personal to you. That’s when you really appreciate and celebrate your union and oneness with Him.

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for giving me the spirit of wisdom—insight into realities—and revelation in the knowledge of you, absolute knowledge that comes through revelation and relationship. Through my relationship and fellowship with the Holy Spirit, grace and peace are multiplied in my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

How to select the connection options of voice gateway

A voice gateway is one of the most important components within a voice over IP infrastructure. The voice gateway is used to connect the enterprise VoIP network with the telecommunications provider, using a number of different connectivity methods, such as PSTN, ISDN and SIP.

In many cases, voice gateways are also used as "interfacing devices" between old analog devices and the VoIP infrastructure. Some examples include fax machines, security alarm systems and analog phones. These devices normally require a PSTN line to work. In these cases, the voice gateway can simulate a PSTN line connecting the analog device to the VoIP network via an FXS port .

Voice gateways support a variety of protocols, allowing easy integration with any type of VoIP infrastructure. SIP voice gateways are very popular and usually compatible with all VoIP telephony vendors since SIP is the preferred protocol for VoIP communications.

Naira crashes to 4-year low, the weakest since 2017

The Naira has crashed to a four-year low in the parallel market after the Central Bank's efforts to coax banks to sell more Dollars to customers failed to bridge the widening gap between the official and street rates.

Unauthorized dealers were offering the naira at 502 per dollar on Wednesday, June 16, from 500 last week, according to abokifx.com.

That's the weakest since February 2017. The rate widens the spread between the official and the parallel market rate to 22% when compared with the spot rate of 411.13 Naira a Dollar as of Wednesday.

Nigeria, Africa's biggest economy, has devalued its currency thrice since March last year as lower oil income, which accounts for about 90% of dollar earnings, put pressure on external reserves.

Goldman Sachs Group Inc. forecasts the Naira could weaken to between 440 to 460 a dollar in the short term.

Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele met with chief executives of commercial banks last week. The lenders agreed to increase Dollar supply and operate special accounts to meet the requirements of business and travellers, according to Osita Nwanisobi, spokesman for the Central Bank.

The central bank uses lenders to make more foreign currency available to buyers, at around the official rate of between 410 Naira to 412 Naira to the Dollar to reduce pressure on the streets where rates are crashing from excess demand.

"Dollar demand is high; people are buying for storage," Abubakar Mohammed, chief executive officer of forwarding Marketing Communications bureau de change, told Sahara Reporters over the phone. "There is no effect yet from any increased sales by the banks."

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES,

THURSDAY 17TH JUNE 2021.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome

TOPIC: A BALANCED LIFE

That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God (Colossians 1:10).

The Holy Spirit inspired the Apostle Paul to pray the prayer above for the Church, letting us understand God’s will for our lives. He prayed that you’d walk in the way of true righteousness, pleasing God in all that you do, fruitful and productive, as you mature in the rich experience of knowing Him in His fullness. Hallelujah!

God wants your life to be fruitful in every good work. With this fruitfulness, He wants you increasing in your “epignosis” (full, exact and experiential knowledge) of Him. What a balanced life! For some people, when they become very productive with their work, business or career, they don’t have time for God anymore. They hardly even study the Bible or participate in church meetings and activities. The more they make progress in their job, the less time they devote to spiritual things; something is wrong.

The life of the Christian is one of ever-increasing glory; all-round success. That is, you’re making good progress in your work, your family is doing fine, your children are growing up strong in faith and in righteousness, and at the same time, you’re increasing in the knowledge of God.

Oh, how important the knowledge of God is! The Bible says, “Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord” (2 Peter 1:2). Do you want more grace in your life, and peace multiplied unto you? Go for the knowledge of God and of Jesus Christ!

God doesn’t want you deficient in any area of your life. In the 11th verse of Colossians 1, Paul continued in his prayer declaring that you be strengthened with all might, according to God’s glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness. You can be very fruitful, productive, and strong. God wants your life to be balanced; and you can actualize His desire in your life by walking in the knowledge of His Word.

PRAYER

Dear loving Father, thank you for giving me a perfect and balanced life. By your Spirit that dwells in me, I’m fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of your Word, as I please you in all things, fulfilling your purpose for my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Hebrews 13:20-21
Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom [be] glory for ever and ever. Amen.

3 John 1:2
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

Fresh graduate shot dead by suspected herdsmen on her way to AAU Ekpoma to collect NYSC call-up letter

An Architecture graduate of the Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Ella Williams, has been reportedly killed by gunmen suspected to be herdsmen along the Benin-Ekpoma expressway.

It was gathered that Ella was travelling from Benin City to Ekpoma when the gunmen opened fire on the vehicle killing her on the spot while other passengers were abducted.

One Asomba Andrew Egbuonu, who confirmed the incident on Monday, said that Ella was on her way to AAU to pick up her call-up letter for the compulsory one year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.

"I received the devastating news of the demise of a young lady and a promising future of the Nigerian nation, Miss Ella Williams, in the hands of bloodthirsty and heartless Herdsmen on the Benin - Ekpoma Road in Edo State," he wrote.

Miss Williams who has just graduated with a Masters in Architecture from Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma, was said to have traveled from her Benin base to pick up her Call-up. She never made it back as her vehicle was attacked by murderous marauders who ambushed vehicles by opening fire on them with their small arms (aka AK47 Assault guns) killing her on the spot.

What a country where human lives have no value, especially to these emotion-less invaders. All over Nigeria, criminals and kidnappers plan and find ways of stopping vehicle before kidnappings their victims. This appears to be too much work for these roaming marauders who prefer to use their bullets indiscriminately to stop vehicles on highways, killing the drivers and any other unfortunate passengers, before kidnapping the leftover survivors and herding them into our vast ungoverned bushes and forests.

That this modus operandi has been used repeatedly with almost no consequence for these criminals is unacceptable. The Nigerian Government under the watch of our President cannot continue to claim helplessness and reign as Nigeria's best are wasted all over Nigeria.

Where is the great and valiant Nigerian Army (and our Armed Forces) that used to be respected all over the African Region. How has our great Armed Forces suddenly turned into such impotence and inability to go into the brushes to flush out neutralize these bloodthirsty elements.

I honestly cannot fathom all these happening in my great country except there is some unexplained collusion, and the deliberate looking of the other way (and I sincerely pray this is not the case).

Miss Williams is gone, lost to a nation in need of her brightest and best. Her parents are heartbroken; her friends and colleagues in deep shock; her killers are out their still demanding and waiting to collect ransom from the surviving passengers from last week's murderous and senseless kidnapping; and the Nigerian State moves on as it is business as usual to our Rulers.

Rest in peace sister! May this Government not leave this as their most remembered legacy.

Imo lawmaker's house razed by gunmen, his guard beheaded

The house of Ekene Nnodumele, lawmaker representing Orsu State Constituency in Imo State House of Assembly was on Wednesday June 16, razed down by gunmen.

The gunmen who attacked the lawmaker's house located in his country home at Ebenato, Awo Omama in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State, reportedly beheaded the guard on duty before setting the house on fire.

They also reportedly burnt the house of the immediate past Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Cyprain Charles Akaolisa, in the community.

Nnodumele confirmed the incident, saying he least expected it because he had no altercation with anyone that would warrant such attack. He also confirmed the killing and beheading of his security man.

The lawmaker said;

Quote:“I least expected it because I am not violent and I have no altercation with anyone. I have served and represented Orsu people very well. Our people are not violent and I believe this thing was done by mercenaries. Taking life is alien to Orsu people. It’s not in our culture to take lives.
“I don’t think anybody deserves to die like that. They did not only kill him, they beheaded him. I have not insulted anybody or misrepresented Orsu.”

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Thursday June 17, visit Borno state.

During the one day official visit, the President would appraise the security situation and inaugurate some of the viable projects executed by the federal and state governments.

Governor Babagana Zulum disclosed this in a special broadcast to the people of the state on Wednesday June 16.

Zulum said;

Quote:“I once again, thank you for supporting our administration. I remain grateful to everyone, for your support, well wishes, prayers and above all, for being good citizens.

“Insha’Allah; our President, Muhammadu Buhari, will be coming to Borno State on Thursday, June 17, 2021.

“The president is coming to appraise the security situation in the northeast during which he will commission some developmental projects executed by the state government.

“The president will also commission the first phase of 10,000 houses which he generously approved and funded, for the resettlement of IDPs and refugees.

"The president has initiated viable infrastructure development projects to fast track peace restoration and resettlement programmes for sustainable social and economic development of the state.

“While I must admit that we still have security challenges, at the same time, if we cast our minds back to the realities before President Buhari’s coming, we would factually recall that many of our communities in northern, central and southern Borno, were mostly, no-go-areas.

“President Buhari is concerned about the humanitarian situation and sincerely committed to finding peace in Borno.
“This is why he is visiting us on Thursday. I most respectfully invite and urge all of us to come out and honour a President, whose love for Borno has been so obvious.
“I urge us to demonstrate Borno’s creed of hospitality. Borno is known for the culture of dignity, the culture of respect and the culture of honoring our guests.
"Let us once again, show the Borno in all of us, as we host our President."

World Bank: Nigeria's Growth Lags Africa As Inflation, Poverty, Crime Rises

Lack of credible monetary policy anchor stoking inflation

Greater foreign-exchange flexibility needed to bolster growth

Quote:Surging inflation is undermining the recovery of Africa’s biggest economy, pushing 7 million Nigerians into poverty and encouraging criminality as rising prices deplete already meager incomes, according to the World Bank.

In its Nigeria Development Update report, the Washington-based lender projects economic growth of 1.8% this year, compared with a previous estimate of 1.2%. But it warned that without deep reforms, the economy will continue to grow slower than the pace of population expansion of about 2.6% a year.

That, coupled with rising unemployment and inflation, is leading more Nigerians into criminal enterprises to make up for lost earnings in the continent’s top oil producer. A surge in insecurity over the past two years has further slowed economic activity and left more people unemployed, fueling a vicious cycle of violence and criminality, the lender said.

“While you have many people going into the informal sector and hustling, criminal activity has become one of the options to get by,” the World Bank’s country director for Nigeria, Shubham Chaudhuri, said in an interview. “In the context of rising inflation, that means a further deterioration of the purchasing power and livelihood of many Nigerians.”

Chaudhuri reiterated that the government must develop a sustainable economic-recovery plan before the bank can release a $1.5 billion loan initially discussed more than a year ago.

While inflation eased slightly for the second straight month to 17.9% in May, it remains at near four-year highs with food-price growth at more than 20% year-on-year. The World Bank sees inflation at an average of 16.5% this year and remaining above the 9% top of the target band until at least 2023.

Little Credibility

The World Bank challenged the central bank’s position that high inflation stems primarily from supply constrains, citing tight exchange-rate controls and expansive monetary policy as key drivers of price growth.

“Policy decisions related to exchange rate, trade and monetary and fiscal factors are driving inflation, especially during 2021, more so than exogenous factors related to conflict and weather shocks,” said Marco Hernandez, the World Bank’s chief economist for the country.

The lack of a credible monetary anchor is keeping inflation elevated, with the central bank trying to achieve too many goals, such as controlling price increases, promoting economic growth and keeping a stable exchange rate, according to the report.

Although the central bank took the right step in unifying the official exchange rate with one used by investors and exporters, the exchange rate is not yet reflective of market forces, the World Bank said.

The central bank should aim for greater flexibility by reestablishing a dollar interbank market, effectively allowing banks to trade currency on their own behalf to increase liquidity and move toward a single rate, the bank said.

Quote:Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Joseph Egbonike, on Tuesday, said about N114,290 000 million out of N360 million bribe for the 2016 bye-election results allegedly offered by the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike to 23 staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been recovered.

The DIG of Police appeared before the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on assessment and status of all recovered loot, movable and immovable assets from 2002 to 2020 on Tuesday.

The officer, who confirmed the development to the panel, explained that the actual money offered was N360 million which they discovered in the course of their investigation, saying that the officers of the electoral umpire were actually involved but couldn’t recover the entire funds since 2016 that it happened.

The officer who appeared on the invitation of the panel when asked by the chairman to emphasise exactly what the money was meant for said: “There was a governorship rerun in 2016 between Governor Nyeaom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the main opposition at that time, which was the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the sum of N360 million money was offered as bribe to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials during the 2016 rerun governorship election in Rivers State.”

The Police said, those who benefitted from the governor were 23 in number, out of which only N114,290,000 million could be recovered since that time.

Responding to a number of questions by the panel members in a cross-examination from documents and exhibits previously submitted to the Committee, the DIG further explained that the matter has been taken to Court after the conclusion of the police investigation.

According to him, all the accused have been prosecuted at the Federal High Court in Port-Harcourt, but the judgement which was delivered in favour of the Federal government was appealed against hence, it was still pending.

“The said matter is still in court and I wouldn’t want to speak much on it, but the said amount you are referring to was recovered from 23 officials of INEC during the 2016 rerun elections of the National and State Assembly which was rigged in favour of PDP.

“Although, the persons involved have been prosecuted and convicted, the matter has been appealed and not dispensed.

Meanwhile, the police report and other related documents which were obtained by DAILY POST on Tuesday after the Committee sitting, showed a recovery of the sum of N114 290,000 by the Nigeria Police, Rivers State Command out of N136 million from INEC staff.

Part of the Police report read:

“On 10th December 2016, during the National and State Assembly rerun elections in Rivers State, efforts were put to rig the said election through inducement, bribery and intimidation of electoral officials, as the sum of three hundred and sixty million naira (N360, 000,000.00) was given by governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, to twenty three (23) electoral officials, deployed to Rivers State from Anambra, Oyo and Plateau States, to compromise and influence the outcome of the election.

“Consequently, on receipt of the intelligence, our investigation panel under the IGP Monitoring unit was set up, following which the sum of 114 million, two hundred and and ninety thousand (114, 290, 000.00) was recovered from the 23 INEC officials and deposited into the Central Bank of Nigeria.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

WEDNESDAY 16TH JUNE.

REIGNING THROUGH CHRIST

For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ (Romans 5:17).

We have received abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness. Now we reign in and by Christ Jesus. We reign through Christ over the world and its systems, circumstances, and over Satan and his demonic community.

The Bible says whatever you do, in word or deed, do all in the Name of Jesus (Colossians 3:17). His Name is the greatest and highest name in heaven, in earth, and in hell! The Name of Jesus commands the greatest respect. He told us we could cast out devils in His Name. Make sure you’re doing it. Hallelujah!

I recall something that happened when I was a student many years ago. There was a certain university that was troubled by cultists. I mobilized a few friends of mine and we went to the place where the foundation stone of the school was laid.

When we arrived there, we placed our hands on the stone and declared, “In the Name of Jesus Christ, you demons of darkness that have been controlling this school, controlling the students, responsible for cultism here, we break your authority and influence; be gone in the Name of Jesus!”

Guess what? On that same campus, we set up the fellowship that would become the largest fellowship on that campus, till this day. Of course, we don’t have to go to any foundation stone; from wherever you are, you can issue commands to demons anywhere, in the Name of Jesus, and dislodge them.

Christianity is living in the Name of Jesus. The Bible says, “… be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might” (Ephesians 6:10); that means take advantage of His ability; take advantage of His might, of His power, standing in His Name and functioning under His auspices. You can’t have that Name and be helpless; never! Use it today and always, and live victoriously evermore. Glory to God!

CONFESSION

In the Name of Jesus, I live triumphantly in this world to the glory of God. Even now, I break the influence of Satan over the nations, over the peoples, over the leaders, over the young ones all around the world!

Christ reigns in the nations. His righteousness fills the earth and mantles the hearts of men, for all souls belong to Him. The grace of God is effectual in the earth today for countless multitudes to receive salvation, in the Name of Jesus. Amen.

#RHEMAFORTODAY

Say these with me, “Eternal life is my present-hour possession in Christ. I have that unfading, incorruptible, indestructible, imperishable life, resident in my spirit.

I’ve been brought from humanity to eternity; therefore, I have dominion over death, sickness, disease, infirmity, failure, lack, and all the rudiments of this world. I am the seed of Abraham, graced for greatness and anointed to be fruitful and productive in every good work.

I’ve been ordained to prosper and to live in glory. Therefore, I live the glorious life, fulfilling my purpose and destiny in Christ. Great things are happening for me and through me, by the power of the Word and the ability of the Holy Spirit. Out of my innermost being, I bring forth good things.

I declare that my life is for glory and beauty; and in my path, there’s life, success, victory, and wealth. I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, holy and sanctified unto God!

I flourish like the palm tree; I am long-lived, stately, upright, useful, and fruitful, and I grow like a cedar in Lebanon; I am majestic, stable, durable, and incorruptible. The God-kind of faith is stirred in my spirit, even now!

My life is an endless stream of the miraculous because I live in, and by, the Word, prevailing over circumstances and winning always. Nothing is impossible to me, because my faith is the victory that overcomes the world.” Glory to God. Hallelujah!

God bless you

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to live up to his constitutional duty of securing the country.

Wike said Buhari was not made president to borrow foreign loans alone but to ensure the protection of Nigerians.

He spoke at the commissioning of the 21 kilometres Odufor-Akpoku-Umuoye Road in Etche Local Government Area of the State on Tuesday.

The governor also cautioned the president against shifting his role of protecting Nigerians to governors.
Wike pointed out that Buhari appointed heads of security agencies in the country, hence he can not ask governors to take charge of security.

He said: “Mr President, you’re the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. You appoint Inspector General of Police (IG), you appoint the Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Naval Staff, the Commissioner of Police (CP), Director of Department of State Service (DSS), and other heads of security. Which one do we appoint? How can people appointed by Mr President be under me? (sic).

“It is not only to borrow money for Nigeria that you’re in charge. You must, also, be in charge of other things including security.

“It is not when things are going bad concerning security, and you say you’re not in charge, and it becomes governors’ responsibility.”

Soldiers Kill Ifeanyi Obi, Parade His Corpse As Unknown Gunman

Quote:Nigerian Army, Police Kill Father Of Two Attending Funeral, Parade His Corpse As Unknown Gunman

Police and Nigerian Army operatives have shot dead a 48-year-old father of two, Ifeanyi Obi, who was attending a funeral in Owerri, Imo State.

He was shot dead during a raid by the security operatives.

SaharaReporters gathered that Obi, a shoe manufacturer based in Aba, Abia State, rather than being arrested and properly interrogated, was shot dead at the scene by the security agencies, his attire was stripped off him and he was paraded alongside others as an unknown gunman belonging to the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

Sources and residents familiar with the incident told SaharaReporters that the victim hailed from Oguta in Imo State but resided in Aba, Abia, and it was the funeral that brought him home – he had nothing to do with the crisis in Imo. He was shot dead while still in the attire he wore to the event.

A top security source said, “The deceased was a prospering shoe manufacturer at Powerline Women's Shoes Market in Ariaria Market, Aba. You can go and verify from his fellow traders. He was married with two kids. He had travelled to his hometown in Oguta for a funeral alongside his in-law who is married to his sister.

“That was on Friday, June 4, and two days after, on Sunday, June 6, they boarded a bus to Aba and on getting to Alvan Ikoku College of Education area in Owerri, there were rains of gunshots. The driver hurriedly discharged all passengers and asked them to find their way to safety and the passengers ran in different directions, including Ifeanyi and his in-law who ran in separate directions.

“It was where Ifeanyi ran to and was taking refuge and dodging the flying bullets that soldiers stormed and shot him dead instantly. His corpse was picked up and the trousers he wore were removed.”

SaharaReporters learnt that the army and police took all the persons shot dead at the scene to the police command headquarters in Owerri.

“The next thing was that his corpse was paraded later by the security operatives with a gun placed on him as one of 'the five unknown gunmen or Eastern Security Network (ESN) or Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) members killed during an exchange of gunfire' while attempting to attack the Imo State Police Headquarters. We were so infuriated. How could the army and police do this? Is it because the dead don’t speak?” another source queried.

SaharaReporters had on Saturday also exposed how the police and the army in carrying out mass raids and arrests of South-East residents shot dead some of the suspects, allegedly labelled as gunmen terrorising the region.

SaharaReporters had obtained the photographs of two of the victims, who were living in Umuahia, Abia State, whom residents confirmed to be part of them and not unknown gunmen as they were labelled by the police and the army.

The first victim had been identified as Obinna Ejekwu, 30 years old, and Onyebuchi Amadi, 27 years old.

Both men were killed by the security operatives on May 29 and thereafter labelled as ESN members.

“Rather than using intelligence-based crime detection and investigation to go after criminal elements, the Nigerian security forces are let loose on unarmed and defenceless Igbo citizens, hatefully targeting and killing them and labelling them as terrorists,” the source who released the photographs to SaharaReporters had lamented.

A civil society organisation, the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law, said it called on the international community not to fold their arms amid the “silent massacre” going on in the South-East region but must prevail on the Nigerian government to respect the rule of law and sanctity of life.

PDP Governors Raise Alarm Over Excessive Borrowings By The Federal Government
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 06-15-2021, 01:47 PM - No Replies

Quote:The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Governors Forum has condemned the current debt profile of the country put at N36 trillion incurred by the All Progressives Congress, APC-led Federal Government.

The forum expressed worry that the Federal Government is gradually plunging Nigeria into bankruptcy with excessive borrowings on frivolous items, adding that over 80% of the normal appropriation is being spent on debt servicing.

In a communique issued after a meeting of the Forum yesterday in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, the governors also accused the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, and other revenue-generating agencies of the Federal Government of lack of transparency and accountability in the declaration of revenue proceeds.

The communique read by Chairman of the Forum and governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, complained that the lack of financial transparency by NNPC and other agencies has robbed state and local governments of the needed funds to provide employment and develop their territories.

The communique read: “PDP governors frown at the rising and seemingly uncontrollable debt profile of Nigeria with over 80 per cent of normal appropriation spent on debt servicing.

“All the gains of the PDP Government under Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, where Nigeria exited its foreign debt obligations has been destroyed.

“Borrowing for frivolous items such as funding the Nigerian Television Authority is scandalous. Money should only be borrowed for productive purposes as Nigeria’s current debt of over N36 Trillion Naira is becoming clearly unsustainable relative to our earnings and GDP.

“We should not saddle incoming generations with the undue debt burden. The borrowing spree of the APC administration, if unchecked, will certainly lead Nigeria into avoidable bankruptcy.”

According to the communique, the Forum examined operations of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, and expressed alarm at the opaque manner it carries out its operations.

“It decried the recent NNPC decision not to make its statutory contributions to the Federation Account, thereby starving states and local governments and indeed Nigerians of funds needed for employment, development and general well-being.

“The meeting emphasised that under the Constitution, the NNPC is duty-bound to make proceeds of sale or business of Petroleum available to the Federation Account which belongs to the three tiers of government, excluding reasonable and verified and verifiable cost of operations.

“The Federal Government through NNPC is a manager of our oil wealth, merely as A TRUSTEE for all Nigerians. The meeting frowned at a situation where the NNPC decides in a totally discretionary and often whimsical manner, how much to spend, how to spend it and how much to remit to the Federation Account, contrary to the letters and even the spirit of the 1999 Constitution.

“The meeting called on other agencies of Government such as Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, Federal Inland Revenue Services, Customs and Excise and similar organisations that are statutorily required to make contributions into the Federation Account, to do more.

“The federating states should go forward now have a say in the determination of operating costs to ensure transparency and accountability.”

The PDP Governors also expressed deep concerns about the operational system and methods of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

“It viewed with regrets that the CBN is operating as an independent government within a government, which is a perversion of the autonomy of the bank.

“A situation where CBN creates money, decides how much of it to spend, on what to spend it on without any form of controls or supervision is patently subversive of our constitutional order.”

The governors reiterated the call for a review of the revenue allocation formula and urged the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission to “urgently send the revised Revenue Allocation Formula to Mr President for onward transmission to the National Assembly for enactment, such that more resources are made available to States and Local Governments where ordinary Nigerians reside.”

The meeting was attended by Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State(Chairman), Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom, Senator Douye Diri( Bayelsa), Samuel Ortom(Benue), Dr Ifeanyi Okowa(Delta), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Oluseyi Makinde (Oyo), Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri (Adamawa), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Arc Darius Ishaku (Taraba) and Deputy Governor Mahdi Mohd of Zamfara State.

Villagers erect massive penis statue to bring forth rain

Villagers in Yothaka, in Thailand’s Chachoengsao province, ended a period of drought by building a giant erect penis statue.

Farmers in the area had been concerned that there hadn’t been enough rain recently and that water from irrigation canals was too salty and had been damaging crops.

To call forth the rain, a giant penis statue, or "Palad Khik", was erected on Jun 9.

This week. local village headman, Chamnan Kenthongdaeng, 52, told a press conference that on June 11, just two days after the giant penis was installed it had started raining, with a shower that lasted about half an hour.

Koson Samang, the headman of a nearby village, had made a video of the rain as proof.

However, local farmers complained that the brief shower hadn’t been long enough to irrigate their fields.

Chamnan 52, promised that prayers to the phallus will continue.

He told Pattaya News that erecting a Palad Khik, representing fertility and new growth, was a local tradition going back decades, to the time of his grandparents.

Chamnan said that the giant penis, built in the middle of the road, wouldn’t cause any problems with traffic, because it was built on a cul-de-sac.

"It will be removed as soon as the seasonal rain comes," he promised.

Meanwhile, local residents are being encouraged to pray to the gigantic penis and leave small offerings.

Nigeria 'loses N24.72bn' in 10 day due to Twitter ban

Nigeria has lost N24.72bn in 10 days due to the Twitter ban imposed by the Federal government.

The Federal government on June 5 placed an indefinite suspension of the operations of the microblogging app in Nigeria after the site took down a tweet posted on the President's handle.

The Federal government last week said the microblogging site has since reached out for discussions and that the Federal government will now give operating licence to such sites if they want to operate in Nigeria.

According to NetBlocks Cost of Shutdown Tool, an international Internet monitor, Nigeria loses N102.9m ($250,600) every hour to the ban.

The digital rights advocacy platform estimates the economic impact of an internet disruption, mobile data blackout or app restriction using indicators from the World Bank, International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Eurostat amongst others. According to its analysis, an estimated N2.1 billion naira was lost when Nigeria shut down Twitter for 24 hours.

According to a report by Statista, Nigeria has about 33 million active social media users with about 26 per cent on Twitter.

The Director-General of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture, Ayoola Olukanni, while commenting on the ban, said it has a more adverse effect on micro, small and medium businesses who rely on social media to conduct their business.

Quote: “Communication is a significant part of sales and marketing in this digital age.  Consequently, the Twitter ban will likely impact negatively and disrupt businesses especially Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises who rely on social media, such as Facebook, Instagram including Twitter to conduct business.

It will therefore most likely negatively impact the IT sector of the economy which is already facing several other challenges.

While it may be considered that there are alternative social media platforms, the abrupt nature of the suspension would mean a loss of existing contacts and a cost of migration.
We must of course also not and cannot, discountenance the national security dimension of the misuse of social media and micro-blogging platforms to inspire violence outside its use to conduct Business.”Olukanni said

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

TUESDAY 15TH JUNE.

FOLLOW PROPHETIC INSTRUCTIONS

Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life (Proverbs 4:13).

In 2 Kings 13, we find a very interesting story concerning the Prophet Elisha and Joash, King of Israel. Joash was having trouble with the Syrians and wanted victory over them. So, he came to the man of God, Elisha. Part of their ensuing dialogue was Elisha instructing Joash to take some arrows and smite them upon the ground.

The Bible says Joash did it three times and stopped (2 Kings 13:18). Elisha, the man of God was furious (the Bible says wroth) with King Joash (2 Kings 13:19) because he stopped. He should have kept on shooting the arrows until the Prophet told him to stop. Shooting the arrows only three times meant he was only going to defeat Syria three times; whereas, God’s plan was something far better. Joash didn’t know that it mattered how many times he shot the arrows.

The prophet didn’t ask him to stop, but he stopped by himself.
Here’s what I want to get across to you: Sometimes, many ignore very important things without knowing it, such as paying attention to prophetic instructions, which is part of God’s guidance for His children.

A prophetic instruction is an instruction of the Spirit that’s given to you by the Spirit; it’s directed to you, for you. It could come to you directly by the Spirit of God from within you or through someone whom He’s given some leadership influence over your life.

For example, the Lord may be asking you to fast for a certain period of time, but you don’t think it’s important; so, you either didn’t fast at all or you didn’t meet the duration, and then something unpleasant happens. You may not realize that it’s connected to the instruction that you didn’t follow. Such things matter; so, don’t take them lightly. It could be some spiritual instruction from your Pastor, to you or to the congregation of which you’re a member. These are all important.

When God gives you a prophetic instruction or guidance, it’s in your interest to follow through. Your entire destiny or the next level of your success, promotion and greatness may depend on it.

PRAYER

Thank you Lord for the privilege of being guided, counselled and instructed by the Holy Spirit, and to receive your guidance through those whom you’ve chosen and placed over me to bring me your Word. Thank you for leading me in the path of greatness as I yield to, and follow the specific instructions to me from the Holy Spirit, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

The Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has said that the marginalization of Igbo and other minority ethnic groups in the country must stop.

He said that issues that have led to calls for secession and self-determination by different groups in the South West and South East and the bitterness and vengeance among some Fulanis and their host communities must be addressed by the government.

The cleric said that the discontent in the Niger-Delta region as a result of continued environmental degradation and the history of bloodshed such as the killing of advocates like Ken Saro-Wiwa.

He said attention must also be paid to the lingering feeling of exclusion from the governance by women and Nigerian youths.

936 Students Abducted From Nigerian Schools In Six Months
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Quote:At least 936 students of secondary and tertiary institutions were abducted by suspected bandits and Boko Haram members across the country between December 2020 and June 5, 2021.

Findings by our correspondents showed that abductions were carried out across the country.

During the period under review, abductions were recorded in Ohordua, Edo State; Effurun, Delta State; Kankara, Kaduna State; and Mahuta village, Katsina State.

Other places where cases of abduction were recorded are Kagara, Niger State; Jangebe, Zamfara State; and Afaka, Kaduna State, among others.

Some parents who spoke to our correspondents said they would not allow their children return to school.

One of them, Alhaji Ibrahim Bageba, whose children were among the kidnapped Jangebe schoolgirls, said, “I have decided to withdraw my children from school because of the security situation in the whole country.

“Our children are no longer at ease due to rampant cases of student abduction across the country and as such, I feel that it is better to withdraw my children so that I will have peace of mind.”

A mother of two of the students who were abducted by bandits during the Jangebe School abduction, Hafsat Sani, said, “Many parents are skeptical about the government’s readiness to fight banditry. As such, I don’t think my children will return to school.

“Two of my children were kidnapped; I will not allow them go back unless something tangible is done.”

The Director of Press, Ministry of Education, Bem Goong, told The PUNCH that the Federal Government was working hard to ensure that schools were safe.

He urged state governments to also do the same.

Goong said, “If you go to our unity schools, you will notice the presence of security operatives. During the 2021 Common Entrance Examination monitoring exercise, the permanent secretary also added that unity schools are the safest and it is because we have deployed security operatives there.”

The Zamfara State Government said it would close down boarding schools till security situation improved in the state.

The state Commissioner for Education, Aliyu Tukur, said, “A committee has been constituted to look into the possibility of reopening the boarding schools that are not prone to attacks by bandits. We have deployed security operatives in schools that are open and we have organised workshops for school principals.”

A security expert, Nnamdi Chife, called on the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to resuscitate the Safe School Initiative.

Chife said, “The government of President Jonathan designed a security strategy called Safe School Initiative, which was meant to provide comprehensive security for the schools that were under attack by the Boko Haram.

“It is high time for this administration to resuscitate that security programme to provide safe corridor for students. Otherwise, we may lose a generation.”

Another expert, Olalekan Ojo, said, “School abduction is becoming worrisome and some of us have been calling for a national security summit on this issue. A national security summit will involve school owners, security experts and other stakeholders.”

Ojo said if nothing urgent was done, the number of out-of-school children in the country could increase to about 30 per cent of the student population.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

 MONDAY 14TH JUNE.

“PRAYING IN PRAYER”

Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months (James 5:17).

The Greek connotation of the words “prayed earnestly” is an interesting emphasis; it actually says that Elijah “Prayed in prayer”; like when Jesus said to His disciples in Luke 22:15, “...With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer.”

How do you “desire” something with desire? Or “pray” in prayer? It’s a way of strengthening the communication. Thus, by including the word “earnest,” he helps us understand the strength of what he wanted to communicate. It means “heartfelt, continued prayer,” like the Amplified Classic version puts it: “…The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]” (James 5:16).

1 Kings 17 gives us the details of what transpired during the course of prayer: “And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word” (1 Kings 17:1).

Elijah didn’t just say, “There’ll be no rain according to my word,” just because he felt like it; no! The 18th chapter lets us know Elijah did what he did at the word of the Lord. When it was time for the drought to end, he “prayed in prayer” again, or like the King James puts it, he “prayed earnestly”; it was heartfelt and continued until he had the desired results (study 1 Kings 17-18).

The same way Elijah was effective in prayer, you also can trust in the same living God and “pray” in prayer when you desire a change. Elijah prayed and something remarkable happened to a whole nation. We can effect changes in our nation, state, city or institution. The earnest, heartfelt, continued prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available, dynamic in its working. Pray this way. Pray with deep desire, with intense passion, and there’ll be a change. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for your righteousness that fills the earth, and your Word that’s prevailing in the lives of men as the Gospel is being proclaimed around the world today. All the nations belong to you; and the knowledge of your glory is covering the earth as the waters cover the sea, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Say these with me, “I am connected to the true Vine. The same life that flows through Jesus flows through me. Hallelujah! The quality of life that Jesus has, is the same quality of life that flows through me! I am one with the Father; thus, I refuse the down life in the Name of Jesus! I refuse to be sick and downcast in the Name of Jesus! I am full of divine vitality. I am full of divine energy.

Divine life surges through me, through my veins, my arteries, and my capillaries. The life of Jesus flows through me; circulating through my body and bringing vitalization to my organs and tissues. That life flows through the systems of my body! It flows into my hands, it flows into my feet, it flows into my head, and it flows into my whole system.

I refuse to be intimidated in this life, for I am strong in the grace that’s in Christ Jesus. Fear has lost its power over me, for greater is He that’s in me than he that’s in the world. The Word of God has taken full possession and expression in, and through my spirit, my soul, and my body. Blessed be God. Hallelujah!

NDLEA intercepts 100,000 bottles of codeine syrup at Onne Port

No fewer than 100,000 bottles of codeine syrup with a total weight of 15,325kilograms have been intercepted and seized by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at the Onne seaport, Port Harcourt, Rivers state.

A statement released by Femi Babafemi, spokesperson of the command, states that the illicit substance, cough syrup with codeine (100mg), packed in 500 cartons and concealed in a container marked MRKU 1565305, bearing imported food masks made in India, was discovered on Thursday, 10th June 2021 in a warehouse at the Onne port complex during a joint examination with officers of the Nigeria Customs Service, State Security Service, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, among others.

He said the seizure followed an intelligence received by NDLEA, as a result of which the container was put on hold and moved to the Customs Government warehouse within the port complex. No importer or agent has however come forward in respect of the container but efforts are ongoing to track the owner for further investigation and prosecution.

In a related development, NDLEA operatives at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, NAIA, have seized nine cartons of khat, weighing 146.95kilograms at the cargo wing of the airport. The consignment packaged as dried green tea was shipped from Addis Ababa, on board Ethiopian airline flight ET911.

Quote:''After initial examination and suspicion, a clearing agent was asked to report with the consignee before the release but failed to do so for fear of arrest, a development that led to a laboratory test on the consignment, which tested positive to khat and the eventual seizure.''the statement read

The Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, Brig. General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) has hailed the synergy among various government agencies at the Onne port and charged them not to rest on their oars as they daily work hard to keep Nigeria safe. He particularly commended the Commander, officers and men of the Port Harcourt Port Command and their Abuja airport Command counterparts for their vigilance and commitment to the task of ridding Nigeria of illicit drugs.
Quote:''The damage 100,000 bottles of codeine would have done to our youths if they had slipped through the port to our villages, towns and cities is unimaginable. 146.95 kilograms of khat could have done the same damage if allowed to go into our streets. We will continue to motivate our officers and men so that they can give their best in the discharge of their responsibilities across the country and ultimately with the support of all our stakeholders and partners, we will win the battle against illicit drug trafficking and abuse'' Gen. Marwa said

DAILY DEVOTIONAL

PRAY FOR ALL MEN

And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel (1 Chronicles 21:1).

The Bible shows how evil spirits influence men to do wrong. One of such instances is what we read about David in our theme verse. Imagine David, a righteous king, was moved by Satan to number Israel against God’s will. As a result, God took actions against Israel.

There’s another incident recorded for us in the gospels. When Jesus made it clear to His disciples that it was necessary for Him to die on account of our sins and be raised back to life for our justification, Peter took Him aside and began to “rebuke” Him, saying, “God forbid, Lord! This must never happen to you; you’re not going to die” (Matthew 16:22).

Jesus, right away, identified that it was Satan speaking through Peter, and the Bible says “...he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men” (Matthew 16:23). So, even good men can be moved by Satan to do or say the wrong things. That’s why God wants us to know the truth; know His Word. When you know the truth, you can walk in the light of it. You’ll know how to pray, and how to put a stop to Satan’s works and influences around you.

Learn to pray for all nations of men, leaders and those in authority as admonished in 1 Timothy 2:1-2. Boldly declare by the Spirit that the will, plans and purposes of God be established in and around you, in the hearts of leaders in your community, city, town, nation and in the organisation where you work. Pray that they refuse to yield to negative influences that could stir them to wickedness; rather, they rule with justice and equity, righteousness and truth. Amen.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I pray for leaders in my country, that they’d use their positions and authority to favour your righteous cause, that the Gospel may spread speedily and unhindered. I pray your blessings of peace and prosperity upon the nations, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Farmers lament as Onions rotten in North over blockage of supply to South

Some farmers in the north have lamented the perishing of Onions in the region following the blockage of supply to the South.

Recall that Onions Producers and Marketers Association of Nigeria (OPMAN) had announced a decision to suspend the supply of the produce to the Southeast over the high level of insecurity in the region.

The OPMAN president, Mr Aliyu Umar while announcing the suspension, claimed that two truckloads of the produce were recently hijacked by the unknown gunmen who are currently wreaking havoc in the region.

He accused members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB of being responsible for the incident.

“If the government fails to adhere to the demands of the association, we are shutting down the supply of onions to the entire South by Monday, June 7, 2021,” he said.

Following the suspension, some stakeholders in the agricultural sector have on Wednesday, urged the Federal Government to intervene in the crisis to ensure normalcy returns.

But according to reports, on Friday, over 50 trucks of onions have rotted away at their farms and markets since the suspension of the supply of the produce to the South.

President Buhari's Democracy Day Speech On June 12, 2021 (Full Text)
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Quote:SPEECH BY HIS EXCELLENCY, MUHAMMADU BUHARI, PRESIDENT AND COMMANDER IN CHIEF OF THE ARMED FORCES FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA ON THE OCCASION OF COMMEMORATION AND CELEBRATION OF DEMOCRACY DAY ON 12TH JUNE, 2021

Fellow Nigerians,

I join you all today to commemorate and celebrate our Democracy Day. It is a celebration of freedom and a victory for one people, one country and one Nigeria.

2. As with all democracies we will always be going through improvement processes in our desire to reach the goal of a mature democracy, a strong, evolved and integrated nation state to be reckoned with globally.

3. In the last two years we have witnessed and overcome a good number of testy challenges that would have destroyed other nations especially relating to our collective security.

4. The indefatigable CAN DO Spirit of the Nigerian has sustained us and would keep pushing us to put these challenges behind us.

5. Unfortunately some of these challenges came in the shape of violent outrages leading to the loss of lives of many of our dear compatriots and the destruction of some of our infrastructure, including those devoted to improving our democratic processes.

6. Once again, I want to render my sincere and heart-felt condolences to the families and friends of our gallant service men and women who lost their lives in the line of duty and as a sacrifice to keep Nigeria safe.

7. I extend the same condolence to the families and friends of our country men, women and children who were unfortunate victims of such senseless arsons, kidnappings and murders.

8. I also share the pains of families and direct victims of ransom-seeking, kidnaped victims who went through unimaginable trauma in the course of their forced imprisonment.

9. Let me assure my fellow citizens that every incident, however minor gives me great worry and concern and I immediately order security agencies to swiftly but safely rescue victims and bring perpetrators to justice.

Fellow Nigerians,

10. When you elected me as your President in 2015, you did so knowing that I will put an end to the growing insecurity, especially the insurgency in the North East, but the unintended consequences of our scattering them in the North East pushed them further in-country which is what we are now facing and dealing with.

11. We will, by the Grace of God put an end to these challenges too.

12. Unfortunately, like in most conflict situations, some Nigerian criminals are taking undue advantage of a difficult situation and profiteering therefrom with the misguided belief that adherence to the democratic norms handicaps this Administration from frontally and decisively tackling them.

13. We are already addressing these obstacles and we will soon bring some of these culprits to justice.

14. We are, at the same time addressing the twin underlying drivers of insecurity namely poverty and youth unemployment.

15. Interventions led by Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria driving economic growth over the past 6 years are targeted mostly to the agricultural, services, infrastructure, power and health care sectors of the economy.

16. In the Agricultural sector, for instance, the Anchor Borrowers Programme resulted in sharp decline in the nation’s major food import bill from $2.23billion in 2014 to US$0.59billion by the end of 2018.

17. Rice import bill alone dropped from $1 billion to $18.5 million annually.

18. This initiative supported local production of rice, maize, cotton and cassava. Government financed 2.5 million small-holder farmers cultivating about 3.2 million hectares of farmland all over the country and created 10 million direct and indirect jobs.

19. Several other initiatives, namely AgriBusiness/Small and Medium Enterprise Investment Scheme, the Non-oil Export stimulation Facility, the Targeted Credit Facilities operated across the 774 Local Governments.

20. In the manufacturing sector the CBN – BOI N200 billion facility financed the establishment and operations of 60 new industrial hubs across the country, creating an estimated 890,000 direct and indirect jobs.

21. The CBN’s N50 billion Textile Sector intervention Facility increased capacity utilization of ginneries from 30% to nearly 90%.

22. The Economic Sustainability Plan – our rebound plan for the COVID-19 pandemic developed in 2020 is currently being executed. The plan is primarily focused on the non-oil sector, which has recorded phenomenal growth contributing over 90% to the GDP growth in Q1 2021.

23. Though marginal we have recorded GDP growth over two quarters; Q2 2020 and Q1 2021. This is evidence of a successful execution of the ESP by the Federal Government.

24. My vision of pulling 100 million poor Nigerians out of poverty in 10 years has been put into action and can be seen in the National Social Investment Programme, a first in Africa and one of the largest in the world where over 32.6m beneficiaries are taking part. We now have a National Social register of poor and vulnerable households, identified across 708 local government areas, 8,723 wards and 86,610 communities in the 36 States and the FCT.

25. Our conditional cash transfer program has benefited over 1.6 million poor and vulnerable households comprising more than 8 million individuals. This provides a monthly stipend of N10,000 per household.

26. I have also recently approved the National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy Plan that augments existing plans to further reduce poverty in Nigeria.

27. As at the end of 2020, the Development Bank of Nigeria had disbursed 324 billion Naira in loans to more than 136,000 MSMEs, through 40 participating Financial Institutions. I am to note that 57% of these beneficiaries are women while 27% are the youth.

28. We are able to do all these and still accelerate our infrastructure development through sensible and transparent borrowing, improved capital inflow, improving and increasing revenue through capturing more tax bases and prudent management of investment proceeds in the Sovereign Wealth Fund.

Fellow Nigerians,

29. Our infrastructure revolution continues with key projects attaining critical milestones under the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund; The Second Niger Bridge, The Lagos- Ibadan Expressway and the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Expressway.

30. I have also approved the establishment of Infraco Plc, a world-class infrastructure development vehicle wholly focused on Nigeria with a capital structure of N15 trillion.

31. The rail system is not left out as the Itakpe-Warri standard gauge rail was completed and commissioned 33 years after construction began. The Lagos-Ibadan double track railway line which I have just commissioned has commenced operations.

32. We are focused on ensuring that our infrastructure drive is key to economic growth and one that can be felt by every Nigerian. Building critical infrastructure in our ports is also opening up opportunities for the Nigerian economy.

33. My approval for 4 new seaports using a Public-Private-Partnership approach is hinged on growing the Nigerian economy. These four sea ports; Lekki Deep Sea Port, Bonny Deep Sea Port, Ibom Deep Sea Port and Warri Deep Sea port will create massive job opportunities and foreign investment inflows.

34. We have worked at deepening our Eastern ports leading to success like having three container ships berth at Calabar port, a first in 11 years. Similarly, on October 30 2019, an LPG tanker operated by NLNG berthed in Port Harcourt, the first time an LPG ship is berthing at any of the Eastern Ports.

35. As we invest in these new assets, we have also made strides in ensuring that they are secured and protected. In this regard I am also pleased to note the launch of the NIMASA Deep Blue project – which is an Integrated National Security and Waterways Protection Infrastructure that I recently commissioned. This initiative is designed to add to the layer of security we have to safeguard our maritime sector.

Dear Nigerians,

36. I will be the first to admit that in spite of our efforts and achievements which are there for all to see, there is still much more to be done and we are doing our best in the face of scarce resources and galloping population growth rate that consistently outstrips our capacity to provide jobs for our populace. Our over-all economic target of lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in 10 years is our goal notwithstanding COVID-19.

37. In the last two years we lifted 10.5 million people out of poverty – farmers, small-scale traders, artisans, market women and the like.

38. I am very convinced that this 100 million target can be met and this informed the development of a National poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy. The specific details of this accelerated strategy will be unveiled shortly.

39. In the last one year, Nigeria and the whole world faced COVID-19 for which no one was fully prepared.

40. Our response to the pandemic involved making hard choices in balancing livelihoods and public health concerns. You are all living witnesses to how successful this has been due to a number of pro-active measures put in place. Our response to COVID-19 is globally acclaimed.

41. We were able to ensure that the various lockdown measures did not impact too negatively on the ability of ordinary Nigerians to continue sustaining their livelihoods.

42. During the pandemic, we disbursed N5,000 to 1 million Nigerians using a Rapid Response Register and advanced N20,000 to 750,000 beneficiaries of the Conditional Cash Transfer Progamme and provided 1.37 million Nigerians with palliatives from CACOVID.

43. At the same time the Federal Government released 109,000 metric tonnes of food reserve stocks and 70,000 metric tonnes of grains to the poor and vulnerable in all 36 states of the federation.

44. In addition, Government reduced interest rates from 9% to 5% for struggling businesses and extended credit facilities to 548,345 beneficiaries.

Fellow Nigerians,

45. When this administration decided to change our Democracy Day from 29th May to June 12th in my first tenure, it was not only to honour the sacrifices of the men and women of our country who fought for the return to democracy but also to demonstrate our commitment to satisfy the aspirations of the people and creating an environment for democracy to be an accepted way of life.

46. As your President, I remain committed to providing an enabling environment for a free, fair and credible electoral system under my tenure.

47. However, you need to play your part by getting involved at any level you can supporting a democratic system that works for all and not for a section or a select few and demand accountability from your elected leaders.

48. My commitment to bequeathing a sustainable democratic culture remains resolute, my pursuit of a fair society remains unshaken and my desire to see that Nigeria remains a country for each and every one of us has never been stronger.

49. In responding to the challenges that this period imposes on us, Government also recognises the need to acknowledge notions of marginalisation and agitations for constitutional amendments among various segments of our population.

50. While this government is not averse to constitutional reform as part of our nation building process, everyone must understand that the primary responsibility for constitutional amendments lies with the National Assembly.

51. This body which, as I said, is the arm of government responsible for constitutional changes has concluded the preliminary stages of amending and improving our constitution in a way that the majority of Nigerians will be happy with.

52. Government is, however, willing to play a critical role in the constitutional amendment process without usurping the powers of the National Assembly in this regard.

53. As a nation we have come very far from where we started and we are getting incrementally closer to where we ought to be.

54. Overcoming the present challenges is but one of a necessary process that we have to undergo as a nation so that we can come out stronger. The day I joined the Nigerian Army I was prepared to lay down my life for Nigeria.

55. As your President I remain ever committed to upholding and defending Nigeria’s Corporate existence.

56. In adhering to the Fundamental Objectives and Directive Principles of State Policy notably section 14(2)(b) I shall do all within my power to ensure that the Security and welfare of the people remain the primary purpose of government.

57. I have, throughout my tenure, provided the security agencies with all they require relative to available resources and will be providing more as the dynamics unfold to put an end to our security problems.

58. My strong belief in the Nigerian spirit gives me comfort that we are facing these challenges with renewed commitment to keep our country one.

59. I thank you for your patience and attention and more importantly your resolve to join hands in making Nigeria the country of our dream.

Happy Democracy Day! God Bless us All, God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SATURDAY 12TH JUNE.

DON’T LIVE IN NAME ONLY

And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead (Revelation 3:1).

Jesus said concerning the church in Sardis, “… thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.” The church lived in name only, but was dead. It’s like living in history. The death mentioned here isn’t total death. It’s a state where, even though there’re still works and activities, there’s so much apathy and “spiritlessness.”

Being alive in name only isn’t a good thing. Some nations and churches are like that. They have a name of a living church, or are recognised in the comity of nations, but they’re dead. This can also happen to an individual, because churches and nations are made up of individuals.

A worship leader, for instance, could sing and people would think he’s alive, but he knows that he struggles to pray, doesn’t fast, and no longer reads the Bible. God wants everyone in this position to repent. The Master’s instruction to such folks is to be watchful and strengthen the things that are ready to die. That’s quite interesting.

For that worship leader, it may be the singing that’s ready to die and he or she doesn’t know it. So, fan the embers of your desire for the Lord and the things of the Spirit. Be aglow and afire for Him always. Pray often. Win souls. Study and meditate on the Word. Be watchful and strengthen these things. Be fervent in spirit, serving the Lord in truth.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I serve you in truth, according to your Word. I remain focused, to excel in your service. My passion for your work and the things of the Spirit are fuelled continually by the Holy Spirit. I’m fervent in spirit, serving you with joy and bringing glory to your precious Name. Thank you for making me eternally triumphant, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

#TALKINGSESSION

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your Word which gives me insight into realities. As I meditate on God’s Word, my spirit is programmed for absolute mastery, success, and transcendental blessings. I am blessed and highly favoured.

The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places. I have a goodly heritage. Everything that belongs to me is glorious and wonderful. Hallelujah! I am the seed of Abraham, and therefore, a possessor of the whole world. I envision and possess divine health, prosperity, victories, beauties, and glories of the Christ-life.

Thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit who has come to take His abode in the quarters of my heart, permanently. In all that I do, I acknowledge Him as my Helper, Comforter, Counsellor, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby.

I am totally dependent on His power, taking advantage of His divine ability, strength, and wisdom at work in me, to fulfil my purpose. I am vitalized by the Holy Ghost! No sickness, disease, or infirmity can thrive or survive in my body.

The divine life of God is at work in me, in every fibre of my being, in every cell of my blood, and in every bone of my body.
I am alive and well, healthy and strong forever, by the Holy Ghost. Hallelujah! Thank You for depositing within me Your very life and nature.

I walk in boldness and confidence, knowing that the incorruptible life within me can’t be defiled by sickness, disease, failure, death, or the devil. I am unblameable and unreproveable in Your sight because You love me and have made me Your righteousness, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God bless you

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has said that it is unfair to say that the decision to ban Twitter's operation in the country was because President Muhammadu Buhari's tweet was deleted.

The Minister who appeared on an NTA programme on Friday June 11, said the decision was taken over the promotion of views that could cause division in the country by the social media platform.

Mohammed also insisted that other social media platforms operating in Nigeria will have to first register with the Corporate Affairs Commission and then apply for licensing with the NBC.

He said;

“People have tried to say Twitter was suspended because they deleted the president’s message. I think that is very unfair. We were very clear in what we said. We were very unambiguous that if any platform continues to promote the views of those who want Nigeria to be divided, we will suspend their operations.

“Secondly, we went ahead to say that henceforth, all OTT — over the top — and other social media platforms operating in Nigeria will have to first register with the Corporate Affairs Commission then apply for licensing with the NBC, that is the broadcasting commission.

“We gave the reason that this has become the platform of choice for [a] separatist leader in particular, who stays comfortably in Europe and directs people to attack the symbols of our sovereignty — the symbols of government authorities.”

Defend yourselves against bandits - Governor Matawalle tells Zamfara residents

Governor Bello Matawalle has told residents of Zamfara state to defend themselves against bandit attacks.

Speaking during a special prayer session to mark the second year anniversary of his administration, Matawalle said the directive became necessary to draw teams of agile youths that would be saddled with the responsibility of crushing criminals.

He said;

Quote:“The insecurity situation has defied solution, as such people should defend themselves.
“I am calling on the people of the state to defend themselves if the bandits attack them.
“My government has approved that whenever the bandits attack you, don’t wait for the security personnel to come to your rescue. You should rise up and protect yourselves.
“My government has also planned to recruit locals from each community who will be in charge of monitoring their villages to ensure that bandits don’t attack them.
“I’m calling on the traditional rulers and community leaders to make sure that only people of proven integrity are recruited.”

The Zamfara state Governor also called on the traditional rulers to fish out the bad eggs in their communities that were conniving with the bandits.

Matawalle added;

Quote:“The communities should be watchful and fish out criminal elements among them. This is to ensure that wolves in sheep’s clothing are weeded out of the system.
“There are some people who take delight in these brutal attacks by the armed men. If you think you have no hands in these heinous acts come out with a clean heart and swear by Almighty Allah as I have been doing.
“Securing the lives and property of every one in the state remains my number one priority and we will continue to pursue all legitimate means to make sure that we restore peace in our troubled communities.”
