Chocolate and Red Wine are the Secret to Beating Wrinkles - Scientists Find Both Help Rejuvenate Old Cells
[Image: red-wine-1.jpg]

The secret to youth is eating chocolate and drinking red wine, a study suggests as lab researchers found both helped to
rejuvenate old cells, making them look younger and start to behave more like young cells.

The secret to staying youthful is eating chocolate and drinking red wine, researchers claim.

Scientists discovered both helped to rejuvenate old cells, making them look younger and start to behave more like young cells.

When we age, the strands of DNA in our cells gradually lose the protective telomeres, which that act like the plastic tips at the end of shoelaces.

The team applied compounds based on chemicals naturally found in red wine, dark chocolate, red grapes and blueberries to cells in the laboratory.

These foods are rich in flavonoids, which are known for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

Within hours of treatment, with these so-called reversatrol analogues, the older cells started to divide, and had longer telomeres.

It is hoped the breakthrough could lead to anti-ageing therapies.

Key findings

The work of the team at Exeter University, supported by researchers at Brighton University, builds on their earlier findings which showed that a class of genes called splicing factors are progressively switched off as we age.

Lead researcher Professor Harries said: 'This is a first step in trying to make people live normal lifespans, but with health for their entire life.

'Our data suggests that using chemicals to switch back on the major class of genes that are switched off as we age might provide a means to restore function to old cells.'

Dr Eva Latorre, research associate at the University of Exeter, who carried out the experiments, was surprised by the extent and rapidity of the changes in the cells.

She said: 'When I saw some of the cells in the culture dish rejuvenating I couldn't believe it.

'These old cells were looking like young cells. It was like magic.

'I repeated the experiments several times and in each case the cells rejuvenated. I am very excited by the implications and potential for this research.'

The research was published in the journal BMJ Cell Biology.

Canadian City, Ontario to begin sales of Canabis in shops & online from 2018

Canada’s
most populous province announced plans to begin sales of marijuana in government-regulated shops and over the internet by mid 2018 when recreational use of the drug becomes legal.
Ontario’s Justice Minister Yasir Naqvi said a dozen shops will be open on July 1, 2018 and the number will grow to 150 by 2020.

Online distribution will also be available across the province, the local government said in a statement.

Those sales will require ID checks, signatures on delivery, and no packages will be left unattended at the door. “As we build up a safe, responsible channel for recreational cannabis, our twin goal will be stopping the sale of illegal, unregulated, and unsafe cannabis,” Naqvi said at a press conference in Toronto.

Ontario is home to 14 million of Canada’s 36 million inhabitants. Each of the country’s 10 provinces and three territories must decide how to distribute the drug to avoid illegal trafficking.

Store sales in Ontario will be over-the-counter only, and ID will be required to verify customers are aged over 19 which is also the legal drinking age in Ontario.

Mr Naqvi added that setting the legal age at 19 will protect young people by allowing police to confiscate cannabis held by minors but without giving them a criminal record.

In most Canadian provinces and territories, networks of liquor stores are also controlled by the government.

Under the legalization, adults will be allowed to cultivate four plants each and to possess up to 30 grams of the weed in public places.

Irate youths burn senator’s house as security operatives allegedly shoot three dead
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-18-2017, 02:03 PM - No Replies

The Kwara Command of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps has confirmed that three people were shot dead in Lafiagi, Edu Local Government Area on Friday.
The deaths are suspected to be related to an issue associated with the conduct of the council elections in the state on Saturday.
The Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr Kunle Bilesanmi, said on Saturday that some persons also burnt down a portion of the residence of Sen. Mohammed Sha’aba (APC-Kwara).
Bilesanmi, however, said the command could not ascertain those who shot dead.
It was gathered that crisis erupted when some youths barred Sha’aba, a former governor of the state, who is representing Kwara North in the Senate, from coming into the town.
A source said the youth’s action was as a result of the alleged failure of the senator to assist the community in repairing a collapsed culvert on the road leading to the town.
The youths were said to have barricaded the road when Sha’aba was coming home for the council poll.
They allegedly insisted that he would pass through the culvert that they mobilised resources to repair.
The source said when the senator found it difficult to enter the town, he called for security reinforcement.
The source said when the security men, mostly soldiers arrived, they allegedly shot sporadically and killed three people were killed.
The source claimed the action of the security personnel led the youth to burn the residence of the senator.
A man, who said that his young brother was among the dead threatened that no election would hold in the town. http://googleweblight.com/i?u=http://pun.../&hl=en-NG

Notorious Lagos police station where no one is innocent
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 11-18-2017, 01:59 PM - No Replies

Sitting quietly on the wooden bench and resting his head on the wall in front of his master’s shop, Monday sure had a lot running through his mind, given the way he suddenly sprang to life when our correspondent said hello.
Two weeks ago, he had a taste of the brutality of the policemen at Pen Cinema police station in Agege area of Lagos State. And up till now, Monday, who runs a shop in Ogba, had been battling to stay alive and strong as the pain inflicted on him by the policemen-turned-attackers had yet to fade away, several days after.
With face swollen, eyes looking red and signs of torment in his shaky voice, it was obvious he must have gone through hell in the hands of the policemen, who invaded Anthony Ojekere and Bishop Hughes streets at about 8:30 pm and unleashed serious terror on everyone they came across.
Monday, who appeared to be in his mid-30s, told our correspondent that he was thoroughly beaten to the point of death for committing no particular offence. His submission was echoed by his neighbours who said it was by grace that he didn’t lose his life that night, given the way the policemen, about three of them – all in mufti – pounced on him.
Barely audible, he recalled, “It was on Friday night, two weeks ago. That should be October 27. It was around 8:30 pm. We were two in the shop and we were closing the shop already. As we were about locking the doors, three yellow buses suddenly pulled over in front of the shop.
“Immediately, three men jumped down and rushed to where I was standing. My colleague was able to escape, thinking they were thieves, but they dragged me on the floor to the bus and started beating me. I even thought they were armed robbers because everywhere was dark and they all wore black T-shirts.
“When one of them said they were policemen, I was shocked that policemen could be so inhuman. So, I asked what my offence was and then I told them to allow me to close my shop. But that angered them the more. They started beating me again until I could barely see anything. They used everything in sight to beat me. They pushed me into the bus where I met a crowd – people they also picked up at different places. The bus was full already and we had to sit on one another.”
Monday said by the time they got to the Pen Cinema police station that night and everybody was forced down from the bus, they were about 150 to 200.
After detaining them for some time and taking down their names, they were later released to go home around 11 pm, but not without some scars and bitter experiences. Some, like Monday, lost their phones and others lost other valuable items. It was such a terrible time for most of them.
Whether in the past or recent times, there have been series of reports and allegations of brutality and maltreatment levelled against policemen attached to the Pen Cinema police station.
The already bad impression people seem to have about the police station was further exacerbated in 2012 when the serving divisional police officer at that time, CSP Femi Fabunmi, killed a protester, Ademola Aderintola Daramola, during the protest in Lagos against the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government.
Apart from the manslaughter charge, the Lagos State High Court in Igbosere also found the DPO guilty of shooting three other persons – Alimi Abubakar, Egbujor Samuel and Chizorba Odoh, during the protest, thereby causing them grievous bodily harm.
He was arraigned by the state government on a seven-count charge bordering on murder, attempted murder and causing grievous bodily harm. Thus, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2015, a decision that was upheld by the Appeal Court in December 2016.
Fabunmi, who was a Chief Superintendent of Police, has been dismissed from the police force and he’s currently serving his term.
But according to some Lagos residents and some persons who live around the police station, not much seemed to have changed about the police station. Our correspondent gathered from some people around the station that victimisation of innocent Nigerians is a regular occurrence in the station and that anyone brought into the station could only be set free by luck.
Across the length and breadth of the police station, including some motorists who ply the road regularly, they said police authorities in the state needed to monitor policemen in the station closely.
To some of the victims of the “violent” raid that night, the ranking of the Nigeria Police Force as the worst police organisation globally could not have come at a better time
The World Internal Security and Police Index International gave a pass mark to Singapore, Finland and Denmark as the first, second and third best respectively, noting that of all the 127 countries that were assessed, Nigeria police was the worst.
The report partly read, “There are 219 police officers for every 100,000 Nigerians, well below both the index median of 300, and the Sub-Saharan Africa region average of 268. This limits the capacity of the force to measure up to its law and mandate.
“In terms of process, legitimacy and outcomes, the story is not different; which makes the Force fall short of the required standards.”
Meanwhile, still on the same night when Monday was nearly killed for committing no offence – at least he wasn’t confronted with any throughout his travails in the hands of the policemen, some other victims of the raid also shared their “unpalatable” experiences with Saturday PUNCH.
One of them, who preferred to be identified as Ola, told our correspondent that the way he was beaten that night marked the worst experience of his life and that since then, he had not been able to sleep well because his body still ached.
He explained that he was on his way from work when he quickly delivered some drugs to his ailing dad and stopped to buy noodles from a mallam (aboki) on Bishop Hughes Street at Ogba. He said he had barely placed his order when the policemen suddenly stormed the shop and arrested all of them, leaving one person behind.
He said, “I left my dad’s house around 8 pm so the drama happened around 8:30 pm. I was on a call when I entered the shop, but shortly after, I saw that people started running. Before we knew what was happening, we saw that three big yellow buses suddenly pulled over in front of the shop. They didn’t come in their van and they were not in uniform, neither did they introduce themselves. It was later we knew they were policemen.
“They told everyone to go on the bus. They said we were under arrest. So, I was still telling the person I was talking to on the phone that we would talk later when one of them gave me a slap in the face for “making calls.” He said I was reporting them. That was how they started beating me. All of them pounced on me. They even wanted to collect my phone but I was able to resist.
“When I entered the bus, it was filled to the brim. In that bus, we wouldn’t be less than 50 because people already sat on one another’s laps. And that was the situation in the other buses.”
As if that was not enough, Ola said they started picking people on the street as they drove towards the station.
“From Bishop Hughes Street, they entered Anthony Ojekere Street, where they arrested Monday and some others. The way they beat Monday, all the pain I was feeling disappeared. It was as if they meant to kill him. I had to look away because I couldn’t bear it. No, that guy is lucky to be alive today. They went to the other side of his shop and carried someone that was lying down on a bench, maybe due to the heat inside the house. They carried him like a dead man and he was wearing only boxer shorts.
“A couple that was walking on the road were accosted and thrown into the bus. They stopped a tricycle on Oba Ogunji Road close to their station and packed everyone in it into the buses. That was how they picked many other people. I tried to call my brother but unknowingly, I called my dad and I didn’t know one of them was watching me.
“He started finding his way to where I was and he was saying he would kill me. He said he would show me hell when we got to the station. I’m sure my dad heard that because I had not dropped the call and that was how he knew that I was being taken to the police station. For that call, the policeman beat me mercilessly.”
On getting to the station, he said they were all locked up in the cell and others had to stay in the passage.
By the time Ola’s brother and his ailing dad got to the station, some other relatives had also arrived, pleading for the release of their relatives.
Ola’s brother, who joined the conversation, said, “When the pleas and protest became too loud for them, they used tear gas, which landed my dad at the Ifako General Hospital. The DCO came out and saw my dad on the floor, saying they should carry him away. I know how much we paid to take care of him that night. Some persons called their lawyers and some people they knew. A woman who was visually impaired was also there to seek her son’s release.
“If police can’t protect us, why can’t they leave us alone, because if it were to be armed robbers, they suddenly wouldn’t have fuel and if they did, they would come after the robbers had left? They would give all manner of excuses, and if you make a report, they demand money. I mean is this a country?”
Ola said when the situation became heated, they were all released to go home at about 11 pm. “Even though I didn’t pay them, the trauma was too much and they must have thought they would make some money from us because I found out that after we were released, they picked up another set of people,” he added.
“I blame myself for waiting to buy the food that night; I could have cooked in my house but I felt it was too late to start cooking. They used to say police is our friend but they are our real enemy. I could neither sleep nor eat that night. I’m tired of this country.”
While policemen attribute all their raids to investigation, findings by Saturday PUNCH had revealed that a number of the raids were meant to exploit, extort and harass innocent members of the public.
A recent report by Saturday PUNCH, published on August 19, 2017, detailed how some policemen have turned raids to intimidation techniques and money-making ventures, as well as extorting and abducting at will while leaving low-profile and high-profile cases unsolved.
The owner of the noodles shop where Ola was arrested escaped being arrested, but he told our correspondent that it wasn’t the first time policemen would invade the area and arrest people indiscriminately. He said they did the same thing about two months ago and that till date, no reason had been adduced for the harassment.
“It was just as if they used us to do exercise. They didn’t arrest me but they promised to come back,” he said, adding that they took the phone of one his workers, which they had yet to return till date.
“My phone is still with them,” the owner of the phone said, adding, “When I went back for my phone, they said the person with it was not around. Since then, the number has not been available. My boss also went there, but they threatened to deal with him.”
Another victim of the raid, who introduced himself as Daniel, said, “They came suddenly and started beating people. We would be up to 200 when they took us to the station that night. We had to sit on ourselves in the bus. They packed us like fish in a sardine. Some of them were armed while some were not. Nigeria policemen are wicked.”
When asked if they noted the name or force number of any of the policemen, they said they could not as the policemen all wore mufti. They were also too distressed to pick the number plate of any of the buses.
The brutality of some policemen seems regular as the passing of each day. The experience of a newlywed couple in the hands of policemen attached to the Maitama police division in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, a few weeks ago was yet another sad tale of policemen’s inhumanity to the people they were paid to protect.
Two policemen were engaged in a fight in the public when one of them cocked his gun and started shooting sporadically. In the process, one of the bullets hit the left leg of the husband who, in company with his wife and a friend, was leaving the premises. One of the policemen was named Akpabio Daniel, while the couple had only been married for two months.
As of today, the leg had been amputated, while the man had been confined to the hospital bed, still writhing in pains. Even though the DPO of Maitama police station where the policemen are attached to, gave N150,000 to the family for treatment, the wife of the victim said they had spent over N1.6m on hospital bills.
As of today, the FCT Police PRO, Anjuguri Manzah, said the policeman who fired the shot had been arrested and that investigation had been ongoing since then. Nothing had been said about the shooter or what the police would do for the victim, who has lost his leg.
When contacted about the raid at Ogba, the Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos State, Olarinde Famous-Cole, said the police carry out raids from time to time based on complaints and intelligence reports, but that their men had been warned not to harass innocent persons in the process.
He said the DPO of the station pointed out to him that a lot of complaints, bordering on armed robbery, were received from the residents in the area raided by the policemen from the station.
“He confirmed that they raided those black spots and that since that raid, they had not received any such negative report again. He said there was no form of assault and that among the men arrested were screened, some were released while some were further interrogated.” http://googleweblight.com/i?u=http://pun.../&hl=en-NG

SEX & RELATIONSHIP 14 ways to experience transforming sex while couples are aging
User Avatar Forum: Health Wise
Posted by: Edoman - 11-18-2017, 01:45 PM - No Replies

As couples age, the hope for a good sex life seems elusive and unattainable. In today’s’ article, we are going to be considering ways old and aged couples can experience the best of sex. Pleasurable, erotic unimaginable sex don’t have to change as couple’s bodies naturally transform. There is no doubt that challenges often arise for older couples when having sex and one of the many reasons for such challenges is related to age and degeneration of the body organs, the general body system, medical problems, unavoidable surgeries and changes in body appearance.
And many couples would rather take care of their health alone rather than taking care of both their health and at the same time spicing up their sex lives.
I always tell older couples that it is never too late to regain the vigour and excitement of past sexual pleasure, while making sure their general health is in shape. If older couples would just learn how to overcome worrisome health obstacles and still look out for a gratifying and enjoyable sex life no matter their age, they will live longer and still be energetic. So, enjoy as you read ways to achieve this.
One … As women age, they may notice sexual changes as well. An older woman especially experiences many unwanted sexual changes. Her appearance may change with the arrival of wrinkles or gray hair, making her feel less attractive as she ages. That can impact her sexual desire. In addition, physical changes can occur. As women age, hormones decrease, causing the vaginal wall to become thinner, drier and more irritated. This can make sex unpleasantly painful. Friction from intercourse may cause micro-tears in the vaginal wall, which can cause pain and bleeding and sometimes infection. A very optimistic good attitude and calmness of soul will help a lot in this area. And over-the-counter lubricants always help with extreme dryness of the vagina.
Two … As funny as it may sound, there are so many sexual changes that come with aging that can be positive for aging women. This is the time that they can freely share what excites them about sex with their husbands without nursing the fear of pregnancy. For an older woman, her sexual experiences can also transform into body confidence and sexual prowess. In addition, the worry of an unwanted pregnancy disappears after menopause or following a hysterectomy. In this way, many older women enjoy sex more freely.
Three … Men will also start to notice changes in their bodies with age. Many older husbands usually find aspects of sexuality more challenging than they used to. It may take longer to get an erection and erections may not be as firm as they used to be. Men may need more foreplay for an erection to occur. They may produce less semen. After ejaculation, loss of erection may happen more rapidly or it can take longer to get another erection.
Erectile dysfunction (ED) or the loss of ability to get or maintain an erection occurs in up to 65 per cen of men over age 65. Men who have heart disease, high blood pressure, or diabetes may find that these conditions contribute to impotence, either because of the health problems themselves or the medications used to treat them. But one of the very major ways to handle these categories of challenges is never to take any sexual changes noticed at earlier age for granted, never to indulge in an unhealthy lifestyle year earlier, never to neglect any warning signs from their sexual organs such as the prostrate, the urethra, the bladder, the penis, and the scrotum at all.
Four … All things being equal, older husbands are still in the best position to enjoy lots and lots of comforting and relaxing sexual pleasure. Age comes with experience and an older, experienced husband is often more attuned to the importance of foreplay in turning on their wives. Older husbands are more likely to know that slowing down and paying attention to their wives’ pleasure is a crucial part of good sex. Older husbands may also last longer and take longer to orgasm as an adjustment to their bodies’ slower arousal period. But when this is done under a relaxed atmosphere, sex becomes a big deal at this age period.
Five … Several causes of sexual problems can occur with age, but they can be well handled with proper information. Do you know that illness, disability and even medications used to treat medical conditions can affect sexual performance and enjoyment? However, most older couples can have a satisfying sex life even with medical issues.
Six … Arthritis causes joint pains that can make sexual intimacy uncomfortable. All you need to do is to exercise, rest, always take warm baths and experiment with different positions; they help a lot to alleviate the pains. For couples with back pain, a side-by-side sex position takes pressure off the back and other joints. In this position, both couples lie facing each other with their legs interlaced. This position is also good for couples who have recently had hip replacement surgery, particularly if either of the partners’ legs is on top. For a wife with arthritis in the hips or knees, she may be more comfortable lying at the edge of the bed with her husband either standing or kneeling in front of her. If a husband has arthritic knees, he may experience less painful sex if he lies down while his wife straddles him on top. If both partners have painful, arthritic hips, they may want to have the wife lie on the bottom with pillows propping up her bent knees. The husband lies between her legs and be in a “push-up” position with bent knees and straight arms.
Seven … In men, diabetes can cause erectile dysfunction (ED, also called impotence). Diabetes can also cause retrograde ejaculation, causing semen to travel backward into a man’s bladder instead of out of the penis. In women, diabetes can cause sexual problems, including vaginal dryness, painful intercourse, decreased libido and lack of sexual arousal and orgasm. Over-the-counter lubricants can sometimes help. The bad aspect of this issue is that men with diabetes have double problem with their erection, the diabetes usually affects the erection and the anti-diabetic drugs also have a bad effect on their erection. The only saving grace on this issue is for husbands to look out for natural herbs that will help maintain a good erection while the problem of the diabetes is being maintained.
Eight … Heart disease is another medical condition that can lead to sexual problems. Hardening and narrowing of the arteries (atherosclerosis) can impede blood flow and high blood pressure (hypertension) also impairs blood flow, both of which can lead to problems with erections in men. Heart disease can lead to a heart attack. Most people can eventually resume sexual activity following a heart attack about three to six weeks after their condition becomes stable again. Follow your doctor’s advice regarding sexual activity after a heart attack.
Nine … Bladder dysfunction in men and women can affect one’s sex life. Common problems include overactive bladder, poor control of sphincter muscles, urine retention problems and urinary tract infections (UTIs) and untreated sexual transmitted diseases. Sexual activity can cause pressure on the bladder, which may cause incontinence (leakage of urine), a problem that makes many husbands and wives to avoid sex. These conditions can usually be treated naturally with intense kegel exercise.
Ten … One of the biggest challenges older couples face is the wisdom to handle good sex immediately after the attack of stroke. Against popular opinion, stroke doesn’t usually affect a man or woman’s ability to have sex, but it may cause problems with erections in men and psychosomatic problem in women. Communication problems could arise from loss of speech, but if well managed with good attitude, it could be overcome; it may be reduced by couples learning to communicate with touch. I need older couples to be aware of the fact that drugs prescribed for stroke such as tranquilisers, sleeping pills, and high blood pressure medication can sometimes interfere with sex. In the case of high blood pressure medications that may cause impotence, one solution may be to plan for sex before taking the medication and some healthy natural herbs. For women on birth control, a change in birth control medication may make sex less difficult. http://googleweblight.com/i?u=http://pun.../&hl=en-NG

  Elechi, 6000 others join APC
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-18-2017, 10:54 AM - No Replies

The All Progressives Congress National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has received former Governor of Ebonyi, Chief Martin Elechi and his wife Mrs Josephine Elechi into the APC.
6,000 other former members of the People’s Democratic Party including former Deputy National Chairman of the Party, Chief Solomon Onwe joined Elechi in defecting to the APC.
Odigie-Oyegun while receiving them lauded their decision to leave their former party to join the APC, saying that the party was known for its adherence to internal democracy and discipline.
He said that APC was in control of 24 States out of the 36 States of the federation and expressed optimism that Anambra would be won by the APC after the November 18 gubernatorial elections.

He said that APC was set to take over the Ebonyi Government House in 2019 and expressed confidence in the ability of the party to wrestle power from the ruling PDP due to the quality and calibre of personalities in the party.
He described Elechi and Onwe as men with great political clout and sagacity, stressing that their entry into the APC would boost the chances of the party in 2019.
“They have not only come; they have not only joined but they have come with a retinue of quality supporters.
“It is my view that with the quality of men and women we are having that Ebonyi APC is finally ready to chase out the PDP from the Government House.
“You are now part of the APC family, we welcome all of you and together we shall match to victory come 2019,” Odigie-Oyegun said.
Elechi in his address said that he defected to the party alongside thousands of his supporters due to alleged injustices and lack of internal party democracy in his former party.
He applauded the National chairman of APC for upholding justice and internal party democracy in APC, pledging support and commitment of the defectors to ensure a landslide victory for APC in the 2019 general elections.
Elechi, who accused the Gov. Dave Umahi’s PDP led government of insensitivity to the plight of the ordinary Ebonyi citizens, said that APC government would right the wrongs and restore value to governance in the state.
He criticised the Umahi administration for its intolerance to credible opposition views, attack on press freedom, crippling the economy with needless loans and penchant for abandoning existing projects in preference for unrealizable elephant projects.
“The change we all clamour for is finally here with us; we are heralding the dawn of a new era in the Ebonyi body polity.
“The APC has come to salvage the decaying political values caused by the misgovernance of one man who has lost focus on what political leadership and governance entails.
“A man who prefers to embark on unrealizable elephant projects that have no direct bearing on the lives of the people.
“We built an international market with about 8,000 lock-up shops which is still not given out to the market men and women who need these shops and our Governor embarked on construction of shopping mall.
“The Governor abandoned Oferekpe gigantic water scheme and we hear that he is now embarking on construction of tunnel while our children are out of school due to the inability of parents to pay their school fees and pensioners being owed months of arrears, ” Elechi said.
He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his administration’s fight against armed insurgency, corruption and driving the country out of economic recession.
In his address, the Minister for Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, described the defection of Elechi and his supporters as historic.
Onu, while congratulating the defectors for their decision explained that the party members were happy to welcome them into the fold.
He said: “You deserve the best, the best is for you. We welcome you into the family where you rightly belonged.
“Nigeria is on a journey to greatness to assert her importance among the comity of nations.
“I urge all Nigerians and Ebonyi people to continue to support the administration of President Buhari.
“I commend you for choosing not only to identify with the change revolution but also to participate through your defection in causing the change to happen,” Onu said.
Earlier, the APC Acting chairman in the state, Mr Eze Nwachukwu, welcomed the party’s National Chairman and members of the National Working Committee (NWC), saying that the visit would strengthen the party ahead of 2019 elections.
He said that the State chapter had laid to rest the crisis that engulfed the party and was united as one indivisible family now.
He described the defection of Elechi and his supporters into APC as further confirmation that Ebonyi is an APC state, adding that the party had become more strengthened and repositioned.
Nwachukwu reaffirmed the support of the APC in Ebonyi to the second term reelection of Buhari, maintaining that members would throw their weight behind the project.
“We are happy to receive your Excellency, our indefatigable National chairman and your team to Ebonyi.
“The galaxy of people including the former Governor of the state you are receiving and welcoming into our great party is clear testimony that Ebonyi is APC and that we are ready to take over the Ebonyi sit of power.
“We support your leadership of our great party and are pledging our unalloyed loyalty to your leadership.
“We also reaffirm our support to the 2019 reelection of Mr President, the leader of our party and we appeal to him to present himself for reelection,” Nwachukwu said.
The defectors included Chief Edward Nkwoagu, Labour Party 2015 governorship candidate, some former Senators, former House of Representatives members, Commissioners, Special Assistants, Permanent Secretaries and local government chairmen who served under Elechi.

A Guide to Giving Your Layer Hens Enough Calcium

A Guide to Giving Your Layer Hens Enough Calcium
[Image: animal-1867521_1280-905x509.jpg]
Did you know that a chicken egg’s eggshell is a whopping 94 percent calcium carbonate?

Thus, when your egg-laying backyard chickens are not getting enough calcium in their diet, the eggs are one of the first places that symptoms of a deficiency start to appear. And what many hobbyists may not know is that a layer hen’s calcium needs actually go up in hot weather and as she gets older!

Common calcium deficiency symptoms in layer chickens include thin, weak eggshells and even eggs laid without a shell.

To keep your hens healthy and their eggs strong, always feed your flock of chickens a well-balanced diet that’s been specially formulated for their age and purpose (i.e., meat birds require different feed from layer hens). Just to be safe, consider providing your backyard chickens with some tasty calcium supplements.

Sources of Calcium Supplementation for Backyard Chickens

You can give your egg-laying hens calcium by feeding your chickens either limestone or ground oyster shell supplements. Such supplements can be found at most farm supply and feed stores. Unlike traditional chicken feed, you can offer this feed supplement as a free-choice item in a separate feed hopper for the hens to access whenever they want.

Your layer hens may also benefit from a Vitamin A, D, and E powder vitamin supplement added to their water every other day of the week.

Some hobbyists who are trying to raise chickens on a budget recycle old eggshells as a source of cheap calcium. This is done by thoroughly cleaning the eggshells after cooking or baking, then sterilizing them in the oven. Caution should be exercised though! If you do not thoroughly crush the eggshells into unrecognizable pieces, feeding your hens eggshells can provoke them to start eating their own eggs.

Feeding Chickens? Stop Until You’ve Read These 5 Surprising Rules for Healthy Hens

Feeding Chickens? Stop Until You’ve Read These 5 Surprising Rules for Healthy Hens
[Image: chickens-874512_1280-905x509.jpg]
Gone are the good ol’ days of farm kids walking around the chicken coop with a slop bucket, haphazardly throwing kitchen scraps at the hungry hens. Today, we know a lot more about the science of feeding chickens and exactly what it takes to do it right and keep your hens healthy, disease-free and laying lots of eggs.

If you’re currently raising chickens or you’re thinking of starting your own backyard flock, don’t buy chicken food until you’ve read these five surprising rules for feeding healthy, happy hens.

1. Organic or non-organic? Is there such a thing as GMO-free chicken feed?

Corn and other grains are typically the very first ingredient on the label of chicken feed, meaning this ingredient makes up the bulk of the food.

“There are 142 different events (types) of genetically modified corn, the most of any plant species,” warns the Non-GMO Project. “Almost 90% of the corn grown in the United States goes into animal feed and biofuels.”

Additionally, most grains grown in North America are treated with a wide range of pesticides and herbicides.

If you and your family are concerned about the pesticide and GMO status of the food you personally eat, you may want to consider what you’re feeding your chickens. Feeding your chickens GMO products, then eating their eggs, may not align with your own values and health concerns.

Over the past couple of years, more and more feed stores and manufacturers have come out with non-GMO, natural and certified organic chicken food. This allows you to feed your hens a natural, pure diet to keep their meat and eggs free of contaminants. Some of our favourites include:

  • Kalmbach Feeds Organic Layer Feed: It’s USDA organic and contains a proprietary blend of prebiotics, probiotics and enzymes to support digestive and immune health. When you feed your hens this omega-3 rich chicken feed, it may increase the amount of healthy fats and vitamin D in the eggs your chickens lay.

  • Prairie’s Choice Non-GMO Backyard Layer Formula: This all-natural egg layer formula is 100% non-GMO and grown and packaged in the USA. However, it is not organic.
2. There’s a different food to use depending on the age of your chickens

Similar to dog food or cat food, there’s no one-size-fits-all formula for chicken feed. The nutrients and minerals that your backyard flock need change depending on their life stage.

TYPE OF FEED    PROTEIN LEVEL (%)    AGE OF BIRDS     FEED INTAKE/1 BIRD/AGE PERIOD
Chik Starter                  20-22%                   Zero to 6 week        2-3 lbs
Pullet Grower                14-16%                  6 to 20 weeks          12-13 lbs
Egg Layer                     15-18%                  20 weeks onward     1.8-2.4 lbs/week
All Purpose                    16%                       All Ages                    Unknown
We do not recommend using an all-purpose chicken feed unless it’s the only food you have available to you in your region. If giving your flock an all-purpose feed, you would use it during the entire growing period no matter the chickens’ age or life stage.

3. Your chickens need to eat scratch grains

Scratching and pecking at the ground is a natural part about being a rooster or hen. Chickens love to use their claws to dig at the ground and find little bugs or grains to eat. This behavior is actually very therapeutic for your flock and keeps them happy.

Tossing scratch grains, as its name implies, helps to encourage chickens to scratch at their floor.

The best scratch grains to feed hens are grains that are high in energy but low in protein, as you don’t want the scratch grains to throw off the protein percentages in your chicken feed. A good example is Coyote Creek Certified Organic Feed. It’s made with organic corn, organic milo and organic wheat.

How Soon Do You Have to Incubate Fertile Chicken Eggs?
If you decide to feed chickens scratch grains, toss the grains to your birds after they’ve eaten their regular food. Only give your chickens as much extra grain as they can eat in under half an hour.

4. Hens love to swallow rocks (literally)

Did you know that chickens do not have any teeth? To help them digest their food and their grains, chickens need grit. If your hens free range, they may pick up little pebbles and rocks, but it’s a good idea to give all backyard flocks a hopper of chicken grit.

When buying grit, use the right size. You can usually find grit in chick-size or adult-size. You can even find some grit products that contain probiotics, which may further aid digestion.

In the past, it was suggested that people use oyster shells as grit. However, it’s been found that oyster grit is too soft and doesn’t do enough to help the birds digest their food.

5. All-you-can-eat or limited servings?

If you’re using a commercially prepared food like the ones above that we recommend, you don’t have to worry about portion size. In fact, you can let your chickens eat all day without worry of them overeating or becoming obese.

The most important thing is that you keep the chicken food fresh and dry. If they get wet, the pellets can become moldy and make your hens sick.
We recommend using chicken food hoppers. These hoppers are typically waterproof and have a big roof that keeps the feeding openings shielded from the elements. Hoppers may either be placed on the ground or hung from the ceiling of the chicken coop, depending on the type of hopper you purchase. Today there are even automated chicken feeders for urban hobbyists who don’t want to be troubled with this task.

Larry Odey Defects To APC With 5,000 Others In Cross River
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-18-2017, 10:17 AM - No Replies

Quote:A former Acting Governor of Cross River State, Mr. Larry Odey, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.

Odey, who was also the Speaker of the state House of Assembly until June 2015, defected alongside a former deputy state chairman of the PDP, Mr. Fidelis Egoro.

The duo defected with about 5,000 supporters on Sunday at the Government Primary School in Okuku, Yala Local Government Area. They were received by the state APC chairman, Mr. John Ochala.

The event attracted the Senator representing Cross River Central Senatorial District, John Owan-Enoh; a member of the APC Board of Trustees, Wabilly Nyiam; a former member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Paul Adah, and other party chiefs.

Ochala described the move as a big boost to the party in the northern senatorial district, adding that the APC was ready to defeat the PDP in the 2019 general elections in the state.

Ochala said, “This is a big boost to us in the northern senatorial district and we are more than ever ready to take over the centre stage in the 2019 general elections in Cross River.”

In his comment, Nyiam urged the defectors to adhere to the APC constitution, adding that it was the constitution that made the APC a unique party.

“You all must adhere to the APC constitution as this is the practice that has made the APC different and enviable for others to join. We cannot sacrifice the constitution for any member, but we can lose any member to protect the constitution,” he said.

Senator Owan-Enoh said the APC would work to prevent the return of Governor Ben Ayade as governor in 2019.

“We cannot afford to have Governor Ben Ayade beyond 2019 in the Government House; everyone should get registered and prepare to vote the governor out of office in the next election,” he said.

Introduction to Breeding Chickens

Some backyard chicken hobbyists enjoy breeding their chickens instead of buying new batches of chicks from a hatchery or feed store.
Other hobbyists do it just for fun and to help create a flock of chickens that has all the appearances and traits that they personally enjoy.
Whatever your reasons for breeding chickens, this introduction guide will give you a basic understanding of what you need to know.
Getting Started: Five Basics of Breeding Chickens
To breed out unwanted traits and improve your strain of chicken, you need to have a working breeding plan that includes the following steps:
1) Establish a long-term goal. Find out exactly what you are trying to attain.
2) Begin with the best birds that you can get. It’s easier to start with quality chickens than to work hard to breed unwanted traits out of an unsatisfactory batch of birds.
3) Keep accurate, detailed breeding records. This is a must!
4) Mark chicks (common ways to do this is through wing clipping or leg bands) to track their lineage, and be sure to carefully control matings to faster achieve your goals.
5) Cull cull cull, and again cull. Remove birds with negative characteristics as soon as you see them! Don’t keep chickens with unwanted traits. This will waste precious time and resources, especially if you’re doing this as a commercial project.
Obviously, you must first know what you want before establishing a long-term goal. Your goal depends on the quality of birds you are starting with, and what you want in the end. In selecting the breeding pairs, avoid birds with poor lineage and look for good ancestry and individual superiority.Experienced breeders concentrate on one particular breed and only one or two varieties within that breed. This allows you to focus your time, energy, and monetary resources on improving your quality line. Each year, raise the standard for your line a little higher. It will take a while, but with determination you will achieve your goal! As the famous quote goes, “Never ever ever give up!”

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL (NOVEMBER PDF => http://bit.ly/2cuJG6M

*GUIDANCE AND DIRECTION THROUGH THE WORD .*

Saturday, November 18th .
Pastor Chris

_*Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path (Psalm 119:105).*_

What many require the most in life are guidance and direction. Often, many find themselves in a quagmire, unsure of what steps to take; they pray for guidance, but even when they pray, they’re not sure when God is talking to them. If you want to know and hear the voice of God more clearly, it’s very simple; study His Word. God’s Word has the ability to bring illumination to your spirit and give you insight into reality.

God’s Word reveals the truth regarding all things, being the true light (John 1:9). Therefore, let it guide you in all your affairs, and you’ll deal wisely in life. The scriptures were given to make you wise unto salvation (2 Timothy 3:15). That means, through the Word, you’re made wise to glorify God. Therefore, study and meditate on the Word, and you’ll always walk in divine wisdom. Wisdom is a force; it guides you in the direction of God’s perfect will.

2 Timothy 2:15 says, _*“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”*_ The more you study and meditate on the Word, the wiser, smarter, and more sagacious you become. Your wisdom can’t be resisted because you speak from beyond this world. Some may not understand you but every time you speak, they can’t forget your words; they hear wisdom and see wisdom in you. You become a problem solver; an answer to the cry of many.

*CONFESSION*

*My path is illuminated with the light of God’s Word; therefore, I do not lack direction. I’m an answer from God. Everywhere I go, I’m relevant, because I’m loaded with divine wisdom and insight to provide the right answers to questions, and solutions to problems. I’m indeed an answer to the cries of millions all over the world because I function in the wisdom of God. Hallelujah!*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *Joshua 1:8* This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. *||*

*||* *1 Timothy 4:15* Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. *||*

*||* *John 8:12* Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. *||*

Fayose mocks Buhari’s anti-corruption war, dares him to jail corrupt APC members
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-18-2017, 08:31 AM - No Replies

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has told President Muhammadu Buhari to stop being hypocritical about his fight against corruption.
He told Buhari to first rid his government and the APC of corrupt elements.
”Someone needs to tell the President that Nigerians no longer believe in his anti-corruption fight because he harbours the most corrupt Nigerians in his government”, he said.
Buhari had during the presentation of the book, ’Making Steady Sustainable Progress’, declared that any public official caught will go to jail.
In a statement on Friday by his spokesman, Lere Olayinka, Fayose asked: “How many of those indicted of corruption in President Buhari’s government has he jailed? Isn’t it the height of hypocrisy for a President that is using APC broom to sweep corruption involving his men under the carpet to be talking about jailing anyone caught stealing public fund?”
The governor, who insisted that President Buhari was only hiding under
anti-corruption fight to harass his perceived political foes, said,
“We have a President who is the Life Patron of Corruption in Nigeria. His government is not only corrupt, the government itself is corruption! Sadly, our President is still carrying on with the mindset that Nigerians are still listening to his lyrics of ‘we are fighting
corruption.
“Today, it is seventeen days since President Buhari sacked the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation SGF, Babachir Lawal, and the Director General, National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ayodele Oke, has any of them been arrested by the EFCC?
“Apart from sacking Oke, has President Buhari told Nigerians any other thing about the $43 million discovered in the Osbourne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos apartment? Who owns the apartment?
“What has happened to those involved in the fraudulent reinstatement of the former Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Mr Abdullahi Maina, who was declared wanted for corrupt practices by the International Police Organisation, (INTERPOL) after he was dismissed from office by the Civil Service Commission in 2013 for allegedly committing N2.1 billion pension fraud while in office? Why hasn’t Maina been arrested by the EFCC up till now?
“Isn’t the same Abba Kyari, who was accused of collecting N500 million bribe from MTN still Buhari’s Chief of Staff? Has anything been heard about the $5 billion fine imposed on MTN by the federal government after Abba Kyari allegedly received the N500 million bribe?
“Methinks President Buhari should face the reality that there are people in his government that should be in jail by now for corruption. Not until he jails those corrupt elements that are wining and dining with him, Nigerians will continue to liken his threat to jail anyone who steals pubic fund with a cow thief threatening to jail a fowl thief.”

Buhari's Achievements Laudable Despite Inheriting An Empty Purse - Lai Mohammed
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-17-2017, 07:13 PM - No Replies

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the Buhari Administration has recorded laudable achievements, despite a terrible economic downturn and an empty purse foisted on it by those who monumentally mismanaged the economy.
In his remarks at the launch of a book chronicling the Administration's achievements in Abuja on Thursday, the Minister said; ''despite those who are daily trying to muddle the waters, this Administration has, through fidelity to discipline, determination and transparency, recorded landmark achievements that are putting our country on the path of sustainable growth.
''Taking a broad view, this Administration is delivering in the broad areas that form the plank of its policies: Security, fight against corruption and the economy, which includes the massive provision of infrastructure, ease of doing business and agriculture, just to mention a few.''
Alhaji Mohammed said with the fact that nothing can be achieved without security, the Administration has successfully tackled the menace of Boko Haram, which had crippled the North-east and even put the residents of the Federal Capital Territory on tenterhooks, following attacks on the UN Complex, the police headquarters and crowded motor parks, all in the FCT.
He reeled out the Administration's achievements in several sectors, including power where he said generation has increased from 2,690MW on 29 May 2015 to 6,619MW; transmission capacity from 5,000MW to 6,700MW and distribution capacity from 4,000MW to 4,600MW as at September 2017.
On Infrastructure, the Minister said the Administration has increased, many times over, the budget allocated to roads (from 18 billion to 198.25 billion Naira), power (from 5 billion to 91.2 billion Naira) and housing (from 1.8 billion to 71.559 billion Naira), hence was able to construct or rehabilitate a total of 766 kilometres of roads across the country in 2017.
On the economy, he said headline inflation has fallen for nine consecutive months this year and that foreign reserves are up to $34 billion, from $24 billion a year ago.
''Nigeria is out of recession and the economy is on the growth trajectory again, after the economy contracted for five consecutive quarters. Despite the downturn in oil prices, this Administration was able to invest an unprecedented sum of over 1.2 trillion Naira in capital projects through the 2016 Budget, the highest ever in the history of this country.
''Our Sovereign Wealth Fund, which was established in 2011 with US$1 billion, did not receive additional investment for 4 years when oil prices were as high as US$120 per barrel. This Administration was able to invest an additional US$500 million into the Fund,'' Alhaji Mohammed said.
Listing other achievements in the economic sector, he said stability has been restored to the foreign exchange market, the recent 24-place leap by Nigeria in the World Ease of Doing Business Index and the rehabilitation of 15 moribund Fertilizer Blending Plants across Nigeria, which has created 50,000 direct jobs and 70,000 indirect jobs?
The Minister said the Administration's war against corruption is moving apace, adding: "Never before, in our history, have so many people being hauled before the courts to account for their alleged roles in the unprecedented looting of our commonwealth. Corruption is no longer possible on the table. It has been driven under, with those still engaged constantly being made to watch their backs.''
He also reeled out figures to support his claim that the Administration's Social Investment Programme ''is a roaring success''.
''Over 4.5 million pupils in public schools are being fed under the School Feeding programme; Over 200,000 unemployed graduates have been employed under the N-Power Scheme. Over 250,000 enterprises have benefitted from the sum of 12.5 billion Naira, which has been disbursed to entrepreneurs to expand their businesses and over 110,000 households are currently benefitting from the Conditional Cash Transfer programme across the country,'' Alhaji Mohammed said.

No fewer than four persons were crushed to death Thursday when a train derailed at the Abattoir area of Agege, Lagos, which also left several others with varying degree of injuries.
Another five persons were also confirmed dead and 19 others injured in a multiple car crash at Berger area along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
According to an eyewitness account, the train went off its track and would have caused untold destruction but for a nearby trailer into which the train rammed, stopping it from veering off further.
It was gathered that the four persons that died were passengers hanging on the rooftop of the moving train.
In the chaos that ensued after the crash, it took the efforts of the Railway Police Command and other emergency responders to get the situation under control.
Confirming the incident, the state police spokesman, Olarinde Famous-Cole, said the train rammed into a trailer, injuring many, adding that the official figure of the dead was three
He said: “We just got the information. Our policemen and those attached to the railway command are in control of the situation. Three persons died in the incident and some others were injured.”
Also speaking on the accident, the General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu, said the trailer with registration number MYM 63 XA was trying to make a U-turn near the railway track when it was hit by the train.

He said: “According to investigation conducted by the agency, it was revealed that four male adults who were said to be hanging on the moving train were confirmed dead, while others sustained injuries.
“Those injured were attended to by the Lagos State Ambulance Service and the deceased persons were taken away to the mortuary.”
The state Commissioner for Special Duties, Mr. Oluseye Oladejo, was at the scene of the incident to supervise the emergency responders on the ground.
Asides LASEMA, the emergency responders included the state ambulance service, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Lagos Neighbourhood and Safety Corps, Rapid Response Squad, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the police.
In the multiple road crash at the Berger area of the state, five persons also perished while 19 were injured.
LASEMA’s general manager said the accident occurred at the Kara bridge, adding that the multiple accidents involved 16 vehicles.
He said the 19 injured persons were taken to the state trauma centre for treatment.
According to him, “The LASEMA Response Unit today at about 7 a.m. responded to the multiple accidents which occurred at Kara bridge along Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
“The multiple accidents which occurred outside the jurisdiction of the agency resulted in a gridlock along the expressway, disrupting vehicular movement.
“However, due to the prompt intervention and immediate deployment of the agency’s operatives and equipment to the accident scene, the LASEMA response unit assisted in clearing and recovering affected vehicles in order to facilitate free flow of traffic.

“On arrival at the scene of the incident, it was discovered there was a multiple accident involving 15 vehicles consisting of seven trucks, one pick up, three cars and four buses.
“The vehicles comprised a Man Diesel truck with registration number JJJ 342XD (Lagos); three DAF trucks with one unknown registration, APP 769XR (Lagos), GGE 818XC (Lagos); two Sino trucks with registration numbers KRD 122 XC (Lagos), KRD 123 XC (Lagos); a Mack truck with registration number BDG 561 XG (Lagos); and a Nissan cabster with registration XS 216KSF (Lagos).
“Others included two Honda Accords with registration numbers MUS 411DG (Lagos), APP 303DV (Lagos); a Lexus SUV with registration number FKJ 475BR (Lagos); a Volkswagen mini-bus with registration number KTU 594XM (Lagos); Ford bus with registration number KTU 340XU (Lagos); Mazda bus with registration number AKD 520XW (Lagos); and a Nissan bus with registration number BDG 27AA (Lagos).
“Although the cause of the multiple accidents are unknown, unfortunately, five lives were lost, while 19 persons sustained various degrees of injuries. The 19 injured comprised 11 adult males and eight females.”
Adesina, who said a thorough investigation would be conducted into the accidents, advised motorists to adhere to road safety rules.
He also urged people who are in the habit of hanging on to moving train/vehicles to desist from doing so to prevent fatal accidents.

FEEDING PULLET INTO LAYER AND MAINTAINING LAYERS PULLETS

FEEDING PULLET INTO LAYER AND MAINTAINING LAYERS
             PULLETS

  1. Feed pullets the same as the chicken broiler program but limit the feed so that the pullets are out of feed for 2 hours per day
  2. After 6 weeks, begin to monitor the pullet weight.  It is recommended that a random sample of the birds be weighted every 2 weeks.  Compare the weight to the breed standard weight.  If the pullets are heavier than recommended, reduce the amount of feed.  If the birds are light, increase the amount of feed.  The breed standard information is available from the hatchery.
  3. It is important to follow the lighting program recommended by the hatchery.
  4. When the birds begin their lay cycle, change the feed to Homestead Layer Ration.

             LAYERS

  1. Pullets must be stimulated with light to begin their lay cycle.  It is important that you continue to follow the lighting program recommended by the hatchery.  Never reduce the hours of light per day once the flock is in production.
  2. Provide Homestead Layer Ration to pullets beginning at 18 weeks of age.  The birds should be put on free choice feed intake until they reach a minimum intake of 105 grams of feed per bird per day.  Intakes greater than 120 grams per bird per day should be avoided as this can lead to fatty liver syndrome.
  3. Ensure that the birds have access to clean, fresh water at all times.
  4. In some situations in late lay, you may observe a reduction in the quality of the eggshell with an increased percentage of cracked eggs.  It is advantageous to top dress oystershell as a calcium source at this time.  Top dress at a rate of 1.8 grams per bird per day or feed separately in floor operations.

          FEEDING SCHEDULE

  • Homestead Poultry Starter/Grower                                               0-4 weeks
  • 50/50 mixture Homestead Starter/Grower & Grower Finisher       4-6 weeks
  • Homestead Poultry Grower/Finisher                                           6-18 weeks
  • Homestead Layer Ration                                           18 weeks to end of lay
  • In some situations young turkeys may begin feather pulling or even become cannibalistic.  These habits are usually brought on by stresses such as crowding over heating, lack of feeder space, mixing of different age groups or other management factors.  These habits can be controlled by having the birds debeaked at the hatchery. After 6 weeks, the turkey should be fed Homestead Turkey-Grower (Medicated) .  Increase the pen area to 5.0 meters square per 100 birds.  Double the waterer capacity and the feeder space. When the turkeys are 12 weeks of age, change the feed to Homestead Turkey Finisher.  Keep the turkeys on this feed until market weight is achieved.Turkeys can me grown to various market weights.  Turkey broilers usually weight over 5 kg and take 11 weeks to achieve this weight.  Heavy tom turkeys can be gron to weights of 14 kg in 18 weeks while heavy hens reach a market weight of about 7.3 kg in under 13.5 weeks.  The Homestead turkey program can be used to grow all the various market weights of turkeys.
       Homestead Turkey Feeds
Shur-Gain Homestead Turkey Starter, Grower and Finisher have been specifically formulated for turkeys that are raised in small turkey flocks.
  1. Derived from Shur-Gain's commercial turkey programs, the Homestead turkey programhas been designed to provide small flock owners with high quality, economical rations and a simplified feeding schedule.Provides nutritionallly balanced diet for turkeys from start to finish.Contains balanced calcium and phosphorus levels to promote good leg strength.Supplemented with fat-soluble vitamins, B-complex vitamins and trace minerals for optimal growth and performance.Homestead Turkey Starter and Turkey Grower are medicated to give the birds protection against blackhead (Histomoniasis), an acute protozoan disease that can have devastating effects in a turkey flock.

Quote:I Kidnapped My Girlfriend To Raise Money For Wedding"

A-24 year old man, Micheal Duda, has said that he kidnapped his teenage girlfriend identified as Victory Aseguah with the intention of raising money for their wedding.

Micheal was paraded alongside 104 suspects arrested for various crimes ranging from kidnapping, rape, armed robbery and cultism at the headquarters of the Edo Police Command.

He said the girlfriend just finished secondary school and there was no way he could approached the parents that he want to marry their daughter.

Speaking to newsmen Thursday, Micheal said he kept the girl in his house for four days and asked her father to pay him the sum of N2m.

Micheal who said he sells dispensable cups admitted that he had sex with the girl all through the four days the girl spent in his house.

“I live at Ekae community off Sapele road. She came to my house. We planned to collect money from her father to raise money for our marriage but I did not collect the money again. She stayed in my house for four days.

“I couldn’t tell the father I want to marry his daughter. She said her father would not support the idea because she was yet to go to the university. She was with me for four days. The man said he has no money to pay. I was at home with the girl when police came and arrested me.”

But Victory who was present at the parade said they met on facebook and after several days, she decided to visit him.

Victory said she was surprised that the boy kidnapped her when she got there and heard that the boy demanded for N4m from her father.

Elder sister of Victory, Rodha, said her sister was sexually abused before the police rescued her.

On the alleged plans to get married, she laughed saying, “My sister is 16 years old and has never slept outside before. She told me they met on facebook and the boy professed love to her. When she went to the house, she said the boy hatched the plan and said he would collect N10,000 from our father but the boy demanded for N4m.

“He will lock her inside the house and called us threatening that he will kill her if we did not pay. He took advantage of my sister’s condition.”

“She told me the boy is 21 and a student but she later saw that it was a lie. We took her for treatment after the rescue.”

Also, three suspects that allegedly killed Prof. Paul Otasowie of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in the University of Benin were paraded.

Late Prof. Otasowie was killed in October 4 at his residence at Evbuotubu area in Egor local government area.

Names of the suspect were given as Osaze Oghogho, Best Ogumode and Happy Okoro.

The suspects said they never intended to kill Prof. Otasowie but to collect his car and used it for armed robbery.

They said he was mistakenly shot when he rushed at Osaze who was holding the gun.

According to Osaze, “We decided to go for street robbery when we saw a vehicle driving out, so we decided to collect the car. I asked the man to give me the car keys but he threw the keys away. I shot into the air. As I was loading another bullet, the man embraced me and during the struggle, the gun exploded.”

Speaking to newsmen, Police Commissioner, Babatunde Kokumo , said the police suspects would soon be charged to court.

He listed items recovered within three weeks included five AK 47 rifles, military weapons. 33 cut to size guns, motor-cycles, 90 live AK 47 ammunition, 234 live cartridges, assorted vehicles and the sum of N1.2m.

Stephanie Otobo Absent At Suleman Defamation Lawsuit Hearing In Ikeja High Court
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 11-17-2017, 01:54 PM - No Replies

The defamation suit filed by the President/Founder of Omega Fire Ministry, Apostle Johnson Suleman, against Canada-based lady Stephanie Otobo stalled today as the defendant was absent in court.

Suleman filed the lawsuit against 23-year Otobo, after the latter claimed that she was into a romantic relationship with him.

The cleric is seeking N1bn damages for the alleged defamation of his character by Otobo.

But Otobo was absent before Justice Adedayo Oyebanji of the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja, where the matter came up for hearing on Thursday.

She was also not represented by any lawyer.

Suleman’s lawyer, E.L. Akpofure (SAN), said despite being served with court papers and hearing notices, Otobo failed to enter any appearance.

The SAN said though he had already, on behalf of his client, filed an application seeking interlocutory injunction against Otobo, it was unfortunate that the application could not be taken due to Otobo’s absence.

Akpofure said, “My Lord, our motion is very ripe for hearing but sadly, the defendant is not in court, neither is she represented.

“The defendant has refused o enter appearance in this matter despite the fact that she has been duly served with hearing notices.

“I would have said that My Lord should hear the motion, but I suggest that things be done the right way and another hearing notice be reissued to the defendant.”

Justice Oyebanji also noted that though there was proof that Otobo was served with the hearing notice, she did not appear and was not represented.

He, however, said another hearing notice would be issued and served on her, while adjourning the matter until February 7, 2018.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo delivers a remark at the Book Launch by Media Section of the State House at the State Conference Centre Abuja on 16th Nov 2017 [Photo: bayoomoboriowo]

The Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, on Thursday spoke on “the exemplary frugality, the honesty and humility, and sense of humour” of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Mr. Osinbajo said this at the launch of a book that reviewed the administration’s two years in office.

Rad his full speech below.

REMARKS BY THE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA, HIS EXCELLENCY, YEMI OSINBAJO, AT THE BOOK PRESENTATION, “MAKING STEADY, SUSTAINABLE PROGRESS FOR NIGERIAN’S PEACE AND PROSPERITY – A MID-TERM SCORECARD ON THE PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI ADMINISTRATION” AT THE OLD BANQUET HALL, STATE HOUSE, ABUJA, ON NOVEMBER 16, 2017.

PROTOCOLS

This book is a book that contains a lot that has been achieved by the present administration, but I must say there is still a lot that has not been covered on account of the fact that this book was meant to have been presented in May but we thought we would wait until the President returned before presenting it.

Some things have not been included in the book and I might just supply some of that. One of such things, is the exemplary frugality, the honesty and humility, and sense of humour of Mr. President.

That frugality can sometimes be a problem, as you know, Mr. President decided that since government provides accommodation, food and transportation for the President and the Vice President, we didn’t need a full salary. Now how much is this salary by the way? It is public knowledge and I think it is N1, 750,000.00 or so, which is under N2million. He said he would take only half of his salary and so I had no choice but also to take over of my own salary. Unfortunately Mr. President turned down my request, to give the other half to a worthy cause – his Vice President. He didn’t consider me a more worthy cause to give half of his salary! (Laughter).

In a country where politicians sometimes want to be as wealthy as Dangote, it is refreshing to have a President who most people won’t even dare to discuss any private benefit on a project let alone a bribe or a kick-back.

Nigeria’s major problem is corruption, it is the main reason for the depletion of our resources, such that we had no savings when oil prices fell, and we were losing over 1billion barrels a day.

It was the prudence and honesty of the President that ensured that despite the economic downturn, we were able to support the States, spend N1.3trillion on capital expenditure, the largest in the history of the nation, and also to ensure we met all our other obligations, both foreign and local.

Mr President’s unassuming personality and humility, is in my view, probably his greatest strength. This is why he is never flattered, or carried away by praise or adulation. He has always said: “I don’t pretend to know all the answers. I am here to provide stability and leadership, to a generation, a group of people, determined to run this country honestly, to provide jobs and prosperity to the poor, and our huge youth population.”

I remember when he was on medical vacation, and I was speaking to him on the phone fairly regularly and giving him a rundown of what was going on, especially when he was on the first medical vacation. He said to me, “don’t worry about telling me all that is happening, I rely on your judgment keep doing your best, what if I drop dead?! You would have to run it anyway.” I had to say to him, that his dropping dead was not part of the plan.

I think that his sense of humour, self-deprecating humour is one that very people know about. As it has been said, he is a man of very few words. I remember that very early in the administration, he directed my attention to a cartoon of him in one newspaper which showed him, sitting on a wheel chair in bandages, at the top of the cartoon, were the words: “you promised to hit the ground running” and then under it, it just stated: “you just hit the ground.”

I had a good laugh, but I think it is also an understanding that leadership, is not about self-adulation and self-aggrandizement. It is first of all, an understanding and humility, knowing that you have been picked from millions of people to lead the people because you are trusted to do so, not because you are thought of as a man with all the answers but because you are trusted to be able to lead others to achieve the results.

The other day, he was saying that if you paid attention to what is going on with farmers, and how well they are doing, he said one way of knowing is by recognising that they would do two things, especially farmers in the North. They would go to Hajj and marry more wives. Already, we can see the increase in the number of wives farmers are marrying.

Mr. President, your Excellences, the ultimate benefit of public service, is the ability to touch millions of lives for good or for ill, by governmental policies and actions.

The reality of honest and serious minded nation building is that in the short- run, tough and unpopular decisions have to be made.

The greatest challenge is how to take the tough decisions, do the difficult things, and keep the people’s support. I suppose you cannot be a Buhari and shy away from tough decisions, and the President has not been afraid to take the bold decisions even when they are criticised.

What has happened so far under this government is the tough business of laying strong foundations. The first, is honesty and good governance, and prudence in government spending. The second, is in ensuring that we have an infrastructure that can sustain our economy, not now, but in the next decades. For the first time, in at least a decade, we are spending 30 per cent on capital expenditure.

As I have said earlier, we are investing heavily on rail, roads, power, and other infrastructure. When you look at rail, we are investing perhaps, the largest portion of our capital on two rail projects; the Lagos – Kano rail project and we are concessioning the Narrow Gauge, where we are building the new Standard Gauge. There is also the Lagos – Calabar route and we have also recently approved the Port Harcourt – Maiduguri route.

We expect, that our country will need railways, to move the massive goods and services that we have been talking about producing all this while. Already, our roads are suffering seriously. If you look at some of what is going on around the Apapa port today, the port is already over-subscribed, almost taking twice the custom that it should ordinarily have, and that is increasing day by day. Each of these rail projects starts from the ports, all the way up to the various destinations that I have mentioned.

Third, is that we are focused on agriculture and the agro-allied value chain, with our focus on cheaper and improved inputs, local fertilizer production, cheaper credit for farmers in the anchor borrowers programme.

Productivity in the agricultural sector is at an all-time high. Rice imports have dropped by 70 per cent, and we are fast becoming one of the largest producers of paddy rice in the world. Agriculture is providing more jobs than ever before, as it contributes more to GDP.

More investments are coming into Agriculture. WACOT, a few months ago opened its 120,000 metric tons rice mill in Kebbi State. Indorama has also its opened three million metric tons fertilizer plant in Rivers State, which was commissioned a few weeks ago, Dangote is investing in a total capacity of one million metric tons of rice mills. Olam’s poultry and feed mill which recently opened in Kaduna, is the largest in the country.

It is evident, that the private sector is listening, and smart money is following what government is doing. It is very clear that we are opening up the space for industry and manufacturing. You can see that from the response of the private sector and even in technology. A lot of the young people are coming in to do various forms of businesses now that they can see that the space is opening up.

Our philosophy as enunciated in the Economic and Recovery Growth Plan, is to enable the private sector to lead the economy in industry and manufacturing, and especially small businesses.

Of course, you have seen from the results of the World Bank’s rating of Ease of Doing Business, we are making very deliberate progress and we are moving very quickly indeed. I think the point that we should note is that, the World Bank declares us as one of the top ten reformed economies and I believe that investors are paying attention to this. You can only reform with serious discipline and I want to say that the leadership of the President has provided that discipline and we are seeing the results of this.

Executive Orders have been signed on making a priority made-in-Nigeria goods in procurement. This is one of the very important policy decisions that the President made, that we must prefer made-in-Nigeria goods.

In addition, we are giving priority to ensuring that pre-investment approvals are efficiently and quickly done. We also have an Executive Order for that, we are also working hard to ensure that Public Service is responsive and diligent, and it does not become an obstacle to investment and to the economy, rather a facilitator. Some of these are contained in the book.

I want this audience in particular, to recognise that every single day, there is attention being paid to the needs and requirement of this country. We are a government dedicated to ensuring that we give the very best that is possible to the people of Nigeria.

I would like to congratulate the Presidential Communication Team, Lai Mohammed, Femi Adeshina, Laolu Akande and all of the team that worked very hard and have continued to work hard spending many hours on how to communicate the views of this government and its activities as well and as comprehensively as possible.  https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/more...-text.html

N1.3 billion will be spent on numerous trips, both foreign and local by President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo in 2018.

According to Punch, the figure is part of the 2018 Appropriation Bill presented to the joint section of the National Assembly by President Buhari last week.

According to the details obtained by the newspaper, the two Nigerian leaders will spend N968.4 m on their foreign trips during the year, while their local trips will take N334m.

President Buhari’s budget on foreign trip alone is N751m and N250m on local trips.

The VP will spend N217m and N84m on his foreign and local trips respectively.

These figures do not include N182m allocated for both local and foreign trips in the budget of the State House Headquarters.

In the last budget of 2017, President Buhari spent N739m on foreign trips, while Osinbajo used N218m for the same purpose.

Also in 2017, N238m was spent by Buhari on local trips while his deputy’s local trips cost N88 million, spending N1. 28 billion on foreign and local trips in total last year.

Agriculture, alternative to Nigeria’s dependence on oil — Bayelsa gov

November 17, 2017

 Niger Delta

[Image: dickson-bayelsa-.jpg]GOVERNOR Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa, on Monday, said investment in the agriculture sector was the only alternative ticket that could take Nigeria out of its current recession, instead of dependence on oil.

The governor made the assertion at Igbogene, a suburb in the outskirts of Yenagoa, during the 21st Farmers’ Day celebration under the auspices of Nigerian Agip Oil Company’s(NAOC) Green River Project (GRP).
Dickson, represented by his deputy, Rear Admiral John Jonah (rtd.), urged Nigerians to embrace agricultural revolution sweeping across states of the nation, as a way of realising sustainable socio-economic development.
”I was very impressed with what I saw here because it is in line with what Bayelsa state government stands for.
”With this, I state that there is no other way to go in this country today. The only route to go to achieve prosperity is self-reliance in farming.
”These actions by Agip will not only to get our farmers empowered but also trained; it is very commendable; and I urge you to continue with it. “ A good head with a good heart is what we need to move forward.
‘Thankfully, Agip has a good head and heart and thus they gave to us. They have assisted in training and also empowering our young and old men and women who were once focused on oil as the only source of living and I am certain that they are benefiting from it today.
The governor implored all to embrace the emergence of agricultural revolution, saying “we have the farms for it and the mechanised aspect has been inculcated in them.”

He promised partner Agip as he had seen the company’s interest and zeal to advance the agriculture revolution of the country as well benefits the people had derived from its gesture over the years.

In his remarks, the vice-chairman and managing director, NAOC, Mr Massimo Insulla, said the annual Farmers’ Day was set aside by the company and its joint venture partners to celebrate the achievements of farmers in the previous planting season.

Insulla, who said the celebration was the second in a row being hosted in Bayelsa, noted that for the past 30 years, the GRP had continued to record huge success.

According to him, the programme had become a prime source of employment and improvement of standard of living for various communities.

He said the project had also served as a veritable tool for sustainable development and food sufficiency in its operational areas within  the Niger Delta region.

He said the annual project had offered the platform to individual farmers, farmers’ cooperative society, youth’s cooperative societies, women cooperative societies, agro-allied organisations to come together to showcase their farm produce and services.

News Agency of Nigeria reports that the theme for 2017 is ‘GRP: Actively leading the future of the Niger Delta’.
The oil firm said the theme was chosen to highlight the contributions and preparedness of Agip JV scheme to support the development of the communities by boosting their capacity through training, extension services, technological support and knowledge transfer. http://www.tribuneonlineng.com/agricultu...yelsa-gov/

  N2 billion chicken wasting away

N2 billion chicken wasting away

THE statement made by the immediate past President of the Poultry Association of Nigeria, PAN, Dr Ayoola Oduntan, that N2 billion worth of locally produced chicken are wasting away in cold rooms in Nigeria, should embarrass all Nigerians as it makes a complete mockery of our Made-in-Nigeria slogan. It should also challenge us to save Nigeria’s poultry sector from collapse and boost our efforts at economic diversification. Two billion naira worth of chicken, for a nation with a population of close to 180 million is not a lot, though to the poor chicken farmers operating in our difficult and underdeveloped environment, it is a colossal loss.
The approximately one million birds involved come to one chicken per 180 Nigerians. Then why are they being allowed to waste away? The answer lies in our collective lack of patriotism and the failure of the Nigerian Customs Service, NCS, to effectively protect our local farmers and industrialists from foreign competitors. Far more than one million birds are smuggled into Nigeria every week and sold in supermarkets and other open markets while the Customs and the rest of us pretend not to notice. Governments at Federal and state levels have to join hands to stamp out the smuggling of poultry products into the country by enacting laws in every state prohibiting the sale of chicken not bred in Nigeria. The penalties should be stiff enough to compel compliance. In any case, a lot of the poultry products imported into this country are suspect in terms of handling, with little care taken to protect Nigerians from harmful preservatives. The Poultry Association of Nigeria, PAN, must also help itself. The truth is, most poultry firms only produce chicken and eggs. Most of them have no concrete sales plans. They hardly employ sales people; they expect customers to line up in front of their gates to buy what they produce. That is a fundamental flaw which the PAN must correct among its members. The world will not come to them; they must come out to sell their products. Nothing stops PAN from helping its members develop their marketing channels and raising awareness among ordinary Nigerians on the nutritional and health benefits of poultry products. PAN and its members can also benefit from the experiences of their peers in foreign countries. We are convinced that the wasting chicken in the cold-rooms is not as a result of product glut. The products are simply not being taken to the doorsteps of the consumers. The Federal and state governments have a duty to partner with PAN and its members to develop the poultry sector of the economy. That is another job creation efforts.

Arsenal winger Alex Iwobi has admitted that he experienced very difficult times in the past and his uncle, former Nigeria skipper Austin Okocha, helped him to find his feet.
The Hale End Academy product feared he was surplus to requirements at the London club before manager Arsene Wenger handed him his debut against Sheffield Wednesday on October 27, 2015.
”Growing up as a kid, there were times when I thought I was going to get released,” Iwobi said to Soccer Laduma.

But my mum and dad were always there to help. I have had some difficult times and, without my family and my uncle (Austin Okocha), I wouldn’t be where I am today.
”Considering the difficult path that I have had, my Arsenal career has been amazing. I’m on a good way. However, I’m still young and I have got a long way to go.”

Nigeria’s best rating in anti-graft war was under Jonathan, Omokri replies Tinubu
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-17-2017, 10:01 AM - No Replies

Reno Omokri, former media aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has hit back at Bola Tinubu for alleging that there was grand corruption in the administration of his then principal.
Omokri said contrary to Tinubu’s claim that there was unprecedented graft during Jonathan’s time in office, the country got its best rating in anti-graft war under the former president.
While speaking in Abuja on Thursday, Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos state, had said: “The prior government used the public treasury as a private hedge fund or a charity that limited its giving only to themselves.
“So much money grew feet and ran away faster than Usain Bolt ever could. That which could have been spent on national development was squandered in ways that would cause the devil to blush.”
But Omokri described the allegations as baseless and lacking in facts.
In a statement, he said Nigeria moved from 144 to 136 in Transparency International‘s annual Corruption Perception Index In 2014 under the Jonathan administration.
“Transparency International observed the Jonathan administration’s fight against the corruption in Nigeria’s fertilizer procurement regime, the use of technology to remove 50,000 federal ghost workers and the speed at which the then President fired ministers accused of corruption or conflict of interests,” he said.
“From that time till today, Nigeria has not made any improvements and has remained at 136 where Jonathan left us because Transparency International deals with facts, not opinions or media trial.”
Omokri added that while there have been no convictions of financial misappropriation stemming from the Jonathan era other than media sensationalism, “we do know that it is a fact that the allegedly corrupt pension thief, Abdulrasheed Maina, was dismissed and declared wanted by the Jonathan administration.”
He also said: “We also now know that it is a fact that the present attorney general of the federation, Abubakar Malami, met with Maina in Dubai. We know that Maina’s family revealed in a press conference that Maina was invited back to Nigeria by the present government. It is also a fact that Maina was recalled, reinstated and given double promotion by the current administration.
“Moreover, we know from the head of service’s leaked memo that President Muhammadu Buhari was aware of this entire saga.
“Perhaps Asiwaju Bola Tinubu mistook the Usain Bolt speed at which Maina was smuggled back into the country and reinstated for the unproven claims of corruption under Jonathan.”
Omokri also said contrary to Tinubu’s claim that the Boko Haram insurgency would have worsened if Jonathan were to still be in power, the situation has deteriorated under the present administration.
He added: “It is a fact that between 2013 and 2014, Nigeria under President Jonathan was unfortunately listed as the fourth most terrorized nation in the world.
“However, in the latest Global Terrorism Index released yesterday (November 15, 2017) by the Institute for Economics and Peace, Nigeria has deteriorated from where Jonathan left it and is now the third most terrorized nation.”  https://www.thecable.ng/omokri-replies-t...r-jonathan

EFCC re-arraigns ex-Niger gov, Aliyu, for N2bn fraud
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-17-2017, 09:46 AM - No Replies

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Thursday re-arraigned a former governor of Niger State, Babaginda Aliyu, for an alleged fraud of N2bn.

Aliyu was arraigned alongside a former Niger State Chief of Staff, Umar Nasko, before the Federal High Court in Minna.
The duo were arraigned on eight charges bordering on money laundering.
.inserted_ad{ float:left; margin-right:40px; margin-bottom:10px; } @media (max-width: 767px) { .inserted_ad{ text-align:center; float:none; margin-right:0; } }
The case was initially before the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court before it was transferred to Niger.
Aliyu and Nasko were accused of laundering ecological funds released by the Federal Government to Niger State sometime in 2014.
The EFCC, in the charge sheet, claimed that the defendants, slashed the various tranches of the ecological funds released to the Niger State Government by the Federal Government.
For example, the EFCC alleged that Aliyu and Nasko, on one occasion, conspired between themselves and removed the sum of N210m from a sum of N233m released by the Federal Government to Niger State as ecological funds.
On other occasions, they allegedly removed N250m out of N253m; N230m out of N243m; N110m out of N116m; N184m out of N487m; N478m out of N487m and another N487m out of N487m.
The EFCC said  Aliyu and Nasko acted contrary to Section 18 (a) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 (as amended) and were liable to be punished by Section 15 (3) of the same Act.
But the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
They were admitted to N250m bail each with two sureties in like sum.
The presiding judge, Justice  Yalim Bogoro, said the sureties must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction and must be civil servants not below the rank of a director.
He adjourned till January 21, 2018 for commencement of trial.  http://punchng.com/efcc-re-arraigns-ex-n...2bn-fraud/

Biafra: Why I cannot produce Kanu – Buratai tells court
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 11-17-2017, 09:33 AM - No Replies

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, on Thursday, asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to trash a suit seeking to compel him to produce the ‘missing’ leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu.
A team of lawyers representing the embattled pro-Biafra agitator had in the suit, prayed the court to order Buratai to produce their client either dead or alive.
The lawyers who were led by Mr Ifeanyi Ejiofor, told the court that they had not seen or heard from their client since September 14 when the Nigerian Army invaded his house “on a murderous raid, where life and mortar bullets were fired on unarmed and defenceless populace, leaving 28 persons dead and abducting many”.
Pursuant to section 40 of the Federal High Court Act, F12, LFN 2005 and section 6(6) (1) (4) of the 1999 constitution, as amended, Kanu’s lawyers applied for “an order of Habeas Corpus ad subjiciendum, commanding the Respondent (Buratai), to produce the Applicant in Court”.
However, in a counter-affidavit he filed in opposition to the suit, Buratai told the court that Kanu was never in custody of the Nigeria Army.
He maintained that contrary to claims in the suit, soldiers who were deployed to the South-East for ‘Operation Python Dance II, did not have any contact whatsoever with Kanu on September 12 or 14, or anytime thereafter as alleged.
The counter-affidavit read in part, “That the applicant (Kanu) is not and has never been in his custody or in the custody of any person, officer or institution receiving instruction directly or indirectly from him.
“That the applicant was not at any time whatsoever arrested, taken into custody or detained by the Officers and men of the Nigerian Army.
“That the officers and men of the Nigerian Army did not have any contact whatsoever or confrontation or any operational engagement with the applicant on September 12 or 14, 20l7 or any other date thereafter, contrary to the allegations in the affidavit in support of the application.
“That the allegation of invasion of the South-Eastern part of Nigeria by officers and men of the Nigerian Army, especially the applicant’s home and or residence is totally false.”
He told the court that during “a peaceful movement” that formed part of Operation Python Dance II, soldiers, on September 14, pursued a truck loaded with arms and ammunition into a compound which was identified in the suit as jointly owned by Kanu and his father.
He alleged that the fleeing truck and its occupants ran over Army barricade and defied soldiers’ order stopping them to be searched.
“That while on a peaceful movement on the said September 14, 2017, the soldiers randomly conducted stop-and-search operations as are necessary and it was during one of such exercises in Umuahia, Abia State, that it flagged down a truck, which as it turned out later, was loaded with arms and ammunitions of varying degrees and descriptions.
“Rather than comply with the stop order, the driver and other occupants of the truck recklessly ran over the barricade mounted on the road by the soldiers and sped off, whereupon the soldiers at the point gave a hot chase and called for reinforcement to enable them pursue and arrest the fleeing vehicle. The soldiers did not fire any shot at the fleeing truck in order to prevent the loss of lives.
“That the truck loaded with the arms and ammunition was pursued into a compound which has now been described in this application as belonging to and under the control of the applicant (Kanu) and his father.
“That it was the legitimate attempt by the officers and men of the Nigerian Army to arrest the fleeing occupants of the truck and impound the truck that precipitated the deliberate igniting of the ammunition in the truck by persons now believed to be IPOB members.
“That the act of the IPOB members resulted in sporadic explosions within the said applicant’s compound”, the affidavit further stated.
“Throughout the duration of the Operation Python Dance II, officers and men of the Nigerian Army obeyed the Rules of Engagement and Code of Conduct to the letter as there was no reported case of indiscriminate shooting, unlawful arrest, detention or torture, contrary to the wild, bland, untrue, incorrect, bogus and insipid allegations contained in or oozed out in the affidavit of Prince Mandela Umegborogu Esq.
“The allegations of firing of live bullets on the applicant’s relatives, killing of scores of persons, wounding and arrest of many, attack and invasion of applicant’s home, barricade at Isialangwa, arrest and torture of civilians by officers and me of the Nigerian Army, as stated by the deponent, are a figment of his imagination as same are not true.”

How Obasanjo, Goodluck Jonathan used the Police as a Political tool – Senate
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-17-2017, 09:30 AM - No Replies

The Senate Committee on Police Affairs Thursday alleged that former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan used the Police as a political tool against perceived political opponents.
The committee was mandated by the Senate in plenary on Wednesday to ensure immediate compliance to its resolution demanding the reinstatement of the security details of Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano.
The upper chamber asked the committee to follow up the resolution on Wednesday and report back to the Senate yesterday (Thursday).
The committee headed by Senator Abu Ibrahim, said in a report that it is “significant and exemplary” that the President and Commander-in- Chief, Muhammadu Buhari ordered the immediate reinstatement of the Governor’s security details even before the Senate resolution.
The committee described what happened in respect of Governor Obiano’s security details as “most unfortunate,” and added that “it is heartwarming that the Police Authorities have explained that the action was not intended to cause the governor any injury or harm.”
The committee said that Nigerians “must not forget however that the perceived use of the Police to persecute a sitting governor was actually made a best-practice tool by immediate past administrations.”
It added that “in those days of impunity, the directives (to use the Police to persecute political opponents) were directly linked to the Presidency and the then sitting Presidents never issued any instructions to counter the positions of the Police and security services.”
It said: The following examples illustrate clearly: “Dr Chris Ngige as the then Governor of Anambra State suffered abduction and when he regained freedom and attempted to castigate the powers that be at the Federal level, his security details were withdrawn on January 2nd 2005.
“In April 2007, a few days to the election, ’higher’ authorities ordered the withdrawal of the ADC and the C50 to Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The APC Leader was also threatened with arrest in the lead-up to the 2011 elections.
“In September 2013, then Governor Rotimi Amaechi in his capacity as the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors ‘Forum, was harassed on several occasions with the threat of withdrawal of his security aides.
“While his were repeated threats, the President of this Distinguished Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, was not that lucky. His aides were actually withdrawn in September 2013 as punishment for his support of the rebellion within the then ruling PDP.
“In February 2014, the security details attached to the then Governor of the Central Bank, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, were withdrawn on the orders of the Presidency. The same man suffered the same fate again when he became the Emir of Kano, in June 2014.
“The Emir’s palace was sealed off by the Police to prevent him from entering it and he had to assume his responsibilities from within the confines of the Kano State Government House.
“It is also on record that, at the same time, security aides to then Governor (Now Distinguished Senator) Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso were withdrawn. All on ‘orders from above’.
“Then Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State had his security details withdrawn in April 2014.
“In October 2014, the security details of the then Speaker, House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, were withdrawn. This was after a blatant attempt was made to effect his impeachment.”
Following the order of President Buhari for the immediate reinstatement of the security details of the Anambra governor, the issue was not raised on the floor of the Senate Thursday

Apostle Suleman vs Stephanie Otobo: What happened in court at resumed hearing
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 11-17-2017, 09:02 AM - No Replies

The duo of Ms Stephanie Otobo and online news platform Sahara Reporters on Thursday failed to show up at the Ikeja High Court to defend the N1billion libel suit instituted against them by Apostle Suleman Johnson of the Omega Fire Ministries (OFM).
Apostle Suleman had dragged the two defendants before Justice Adedayo Oyebanji.
He stated that his reputation was damaged through claims by Ms Otobo that they were involved in a romantic relationship and that Sahara Reporters first published the story.
His counsel, E.L Akpofure, SAN, told the court that they had a motion for interlocutory injunction which was already ripe for hearing.
“My Lord our motion is very ripe for hearing but sadly, the defendant is not in court neither is she represented.
“The defendant has refused to enter appearance in this matter despite the fact that she has been duly served with hearing notices.
“I would have said that My Lord should hear the motion but I suggest that things be done the right way and another hearing notice be re-issued to the defendant,” Akpofure said.
After listening to Akpofure’s submissions, Justice Oyebanji noted that though the defendant was not represented in court, another hearing notice would be issued.
She thereafter adjourned the suit till February 7, 2018, for hearing on the motion by the claimant asking for interlocutory injunction.
In May, Otobo reacted to Apostle Suleman’s response to her claim that she had become ‘born again’ and withdrawn the $5 million lawsuit she filed against him in Canada.
Suleman’s aide, Phrank Shaibu, had in a statement dared her to provide answers to ”salient questions” before Nigerians could believe her “born again story”.
It read in part, “After besmirching the reputation of a man that she has never physically met, Stephanie Otobo, who filed a suit for $5 million against Apostle Johnson Suleiman in a Canadian court in abuse of court process now claims she is born again and wants to put the whole saga behind her and forget the matter and withdraw the case?
“Not so fast. Where are the explosive incontrovertible evidence she, Festus Keyamo and their team of jeer leaders promised Nigerians? Where are the travel documents she promised to reveal? Where are the nude pictures she claimed to have?”.
In August, Nigeria Police ordered arrest of one Wisdom Godstime, an alleged accomplice of Stephanie Otobo in the saga.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

FRIDAY, 17TH NOVEMBER.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨ Spirit And Life✨

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water (John 7:38).

As God’s children, we’re all called into the ministry, and the Lord Jesus gives us a good definition of what Christian ministry is in our opening verse. Ministry is the outflow of the rivers of living water in you. The thirty-ninth
verse explicates: “But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.”

The “rivers of living water” He’s talking about is the Holy Spirit. So, ministry is actually the outpouring of the life of the Spirit of God from within you! You can’t give what you don’t have. He says out of your belly, meaning out of your
innermost being, shall flow rivers of living water. This means the Holy Spirit pours out Himself through you.

Talking to His disciples earlier in John 6:63, the Master said, “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” This is wonderful! The Master’s words weren’t ordinary; they were spirit and life. Make this your objective in life, to speak words that are spirit and life. Don’t seek to be an orator or a good preacher; seek to release words of life. That’s what makes the difference. That’s how you can stand before others, and as you speak, miracles happen; blessings abound.

A young girl told a story. She was brought into the church, and as she sat listening to the teaching, not even knowing what I was saying, an evil spirit that had bound her for so many years suddenly went out of her. She could see the evil spirit looking at her and threatening her from a distance, but that devil couldn’t stay. “The devil was afraid of what Pastor Chris was saying and then ran out of the church,” she said.

Someone else testified that he’d been sick for so long but noticed that every time he came to church, he got better. So he decided to keep coming, until one day, he realized he was completely normal. This is so because the words we speak are spirit and they’re life! And until you minister spirit and life, you’re not fulfilling your role. We’re life-giving spirits.
Hallelujah!

PRAYER
Thank you Father for the honour to be useful to you in ministry. I yield myself fully to your Spirit and ask that you be pleased to use me continually for your glory in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Jonathan Won Gold Medal In Corruption~ Tinubu
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-16-2017, 10:29 PM - No Replies

Bola Tinubu, national leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has said the Goodluck Jonathan administration won a gold medal in corruption.
According to Tinubu, money “ran away” faster than Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt.
Tinubu said this on Thursday while giving a keynote speech at the presentation of ‘Making Steady, Sustainable Progressive for Nigeria’s Peace and Prosperity: A mid-term scorecard on the President Muhammadu Buhari Administration’.
The book presentation held at the state house conference center, Abuja.
The former Lagos governor said Boko Haram would have taken more territory and more lives would have been lost to insurgency if Jonathan had remained in power.
“The prior government used the public treasury as a private hedge fund or a charity that limited its giving only to themselves,” he said.
“So much money grew feet and ran away faster than Usain Bolt ever could. That which could have been spent on national development was squandered in ways that would cause the devil to blush.
“One minister and her rogues’ gallery picked the pocket of this nation for billions of dollars. While poor at governance, these people could give a master thief lessons in the sleight of hand. In governance, they earned a red card but in corruption l, they won the gold medal.
“It was not that our institutions had become infected by corruption. Corruption has become institutionalized.”
Tinubu said the war on corruption has been won as President Buhari has set an axe to “the root of this dangerous tree”.
“We have much to do to combat this disease. Not only must we track down the takers. In the long term, we must review the salaries of public servants and create universal credits for our people to reduce temptation,” he added.

Saraki rejects Ndume’s first prayer after suspension

In what appeared like a continuation of contention between the two, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, on Tuesday rejected an appeal by former Majority Leader, Ali Ndume, for a minute silence for deceased senator, Isiaka Adeleke.
Mr. Ndume had sought the leave of the Senate to grant him the privilege of paying a last respect to his friend, Mr. Adeleke, who he described as his ‘landlord.’
He sought the privilege while quoting the Senate standing order 14(a, b and c)
The Senate had on April 25 observed a minute silence for the late senator, but Mr. Ndume requested for another minute of silence due to his absence.
“Mr. President, distinguished colleagues, you know that I’ve been away for seven and half months and coming in today, we all know that in my absence, we lost Distinguished Senator Isiaka Adeleke, who was sitting right behind me. I used to call him my landlord. I didn’t have the opportunity to pay my tribute, I want to appeal to this Senate to again stand for a minute silence and pray for the repose of his soul.”
Mr. Saraki in response, however, did not seek the leave of the Senate to either grant the prayer or not as is the usual practice.
“Your point of order is noted,” Mr. Saraki replied without putting any question to other lawmakers.
Mr. Ndume had stirred the hornets’ nest when he asked the Senate to investigate public allegations of impropriety against the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and another senator, Dino Melaye.
Following recommendations by the Ethics and Privileges Committee, the Senate on March 30 suspended Mr. Ndume.

Senate begins work on 2018 budget Wednesday

The Nigerian Senate has resolved to begin work on the 2018 Appropriation Bill next Wednesday.
The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, made the announcement on Thursday, during the plenary session.
He asked lawmakers interested in participating in the debates scheduled to hold on Wednesday and Thursday to begin registration on Monday, adding that copies of the bill would be made available by Monday.
The Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Aliyu Sabi-Abdullahi, later told journalists that the bill was a voluminous document, which explains why the distribution of copies to the lawmakers had been delayed.
Speaking on the 2018-2020 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper that is still pending, Mr. Sabi said the budget and the MTEF would be processed simultaneously and will be brought in next week.
The senator further explained that the MTEF would be passed before the budget as expected and will be committed to the committees.
“The debate is for the second reading. That does not stop anything. By the time we will be finishing with budget defence sessions, MTEF report would have been laid and everything would have been cleared. This is our innovation,” he said.
President Muhammadu Buhari had on November 7, presented the N8.612 trillion 2018 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the Senate and the House of Representatives.

PDP Chairmanship: Why I will vote Gbenga Daniel – Former National Chairman
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-16-2017, 07:00 PM - No Replies

A former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and a statutory delegate to the December 9 PDP national convention, Vincent Ogbulafor, has openly declared that he would support one of the candidates for the chairmanship slot, Gbenga Daniel.
Mr. Ogbulafor made this declaration at his country home, Olokoro in Umuahia, Abia State Wednesday, when the former governor of Ogun State paid him a courtesy call.
So far, eight candidates have shown interest to run for the office of national chairman.
Six of the eight contestants are from the South-west while two are from the South-south geopolitical zone.
Those from the South-West are Bode George, Jimi Agbaje, Gbenga Daniel, Tunde Adeniran, Taoheed Adedoja and Rashidi Ladoja while the other two from the South-south are Raymond Dokpesi and Uche Secondus.
According to Mr. Ogbulafor, a South-east politician, “Gbenga Daniel is the right person for the position (National Chairman) if PDP is to take over power. I was the National Chairman of the party for three years and I know the demands.
“Daniel, you are a real party man, please keep the flag flying. You know where the mistake of PDP is and you can provide solution.
“I support you on this quest and I am sure you will get it. You have my vote, you have my vote. I will give you my vote”, he said.
Meanwhile, the Chairman, South-east Council of Traditional Rulers, Cletus Ilomuanya, the Obi of Obinugwu, who also received the candidate described him as a portrait of humility and the most competent individual to lead the party.
The Obi made this remark while praying for Mr. Daniel to succeed in his quest to become the national chairman of the PDP.

Zimbabwe: Catholic priest mediating potential Mugabe exit

Zimbabwe: Catholic priest mediating potential Mugabe exit
A Catholic priest is mediating a potential political exit for Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe, although the 93-year-old is insisting he can only be removed via a party leadership vote, political and intelligence sources said on Thursday.
Separately, opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai, who has been receiving cancer treatment outside Zimbabwe, returned to Harare late on Wednesday, a party spokesman said, fuelling speculation about a post-Mugabe political settlement.
Zimbabwe was on a knife’s edge on Thursday after the military seized power in what it dubbed a targeted operation against “criminals” in the entourage of President Robert Mugabe, who has ruled the southern African nation for almost four decades.
It was not clear whether the apparent military coup would bring a formal end to the 93-year-old Mugabe’s rule. The main goal of the generals appeared to be preventing Mugabe’s wife Grace, 41 years his junior, from succeeding him.
Local media reported South Africa’s defence and state security ministers, dispatched by President Jacob Zuma as regional envoys, arrived in Zimbabwe’s capital, Harare, on Wednesday night and were expected to meet both Mugabe and the military.
Their ultimate goal was not clear.
Zuma earlier called for “calm and restraint” and asked the defense forces “to ensure that peace and stability are not undermined in Zimbabwe,” South Africa’s neighbor, which has lurched from crisis to crisis over the past two decades.
The South African presidency said Mugabe had told Zuma over the phone that he was confined to his home but was otherwise fine and the military said it was keeping him and his family safe.

Mugabe, still seen by many Africans as a liberation hero, is reviled in the West as a despot whose disastrous handling of the economy and willingness to resort to violence to maintain power destroyed one of Africa’s most promising states.
Je plunged Zimbabwe into a fresh political crisis last week by firing his vice president and presumed successor, Emmerson Mnangagwa, 75 – known as the “crocodile” – for showing “traits of disloyalty”.
The generals believed that move was aimed at clearing a path for Grace Mugabe to take over and said on Monday they were prepared to “step in” if purges of their allies did not end.
Tanks blocked roads after dark and soldiers with automatic weapons kept up their patrols, but the situation appeared calm.
Whatever the final outcome, the events could signal a once-in-a-generation change for the former British colony, a regional breadbasket reduced to destitution by economic policies Mugabe’s critics have long blamed on him.

Illicit affair between married lecturer and a former student exposed after WhatsApp messages leak (Photos)
A married French lecturer at the University of Zimbabwe has been exposed for having an illicit affair with a former student. The lecturer Kudakwashe Dhoro and his side chick, a former UZ student named Angeline Musakwa were exposed after their WhatsApp conversation got leaked.
It was reported that since after the affair came to light, it has become the top gist in the campus, with many questioning the lecturer’s conduct and morality.
In the ugly conversation seen below, the French lecturer who is married to one Monica Mutize couldn’t hide his affection for Angeline as he confessed his love for her.
“I think I have fallen in love with you,” says Kudakwashe in one of the posts.
In response, Angeline says: “I love you so much.”
According to iharare, all hell broke loose when the lecturer’s wife Monica Mutize came across part of the chats between her husband and Angeline.
Monica is said to have mistakenly taken Angeline number for another student called Lianne Ndemera. She then contacted Lianne in anger accusing her of having an affair with her husband leading to a heated confrontation.
“Check your app and tell me nothing is happening,” says Monica as she angers Lianne.
“I have never spoken to your husband and I don’t have a thing for black men. I have got a very good loving husband,” Lianne denies ever dating the lecturer.
Monica reportedly took it further and engaged her lawyer Feshilla Mutize to deal with Angelina.
When her husband was contacted, he confirmed the affair and said it has since been resolved.
“Yes I know of the story and I once dated her and it was a mistake, you know people always make mistakes but now we are in good books with my wife.
“I thought the story is no longer existing since I have made an apology to my wife and Lianne is indeed the girl which my wife mistook for Angie.”

Three pastors to face life in prison for sex trafficking underage girls

Three pastors to face life in prison for sex trafficking underage girls
Three Ohio pastors are facing life imprisonment for sex trafficking underage girls.
The Rev. Cordell Jenkins, 47, the Rev. Anthony Haynes, 38, and the Rev. Kenneth Butler, 37, were named in an 11-count superseding indictment handed up Tuesday by a federal grand jury charging them with conspiracy to sex traffic children. All three of them pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Michael Freeman, an assistant U.S. Attorney, told the court that if the men are convicted, prosecutors would recommend sentences of life in prison.
“These three men violated the trust of these children and the communities they purported to serve,” U.S. Attorney Justin E. Herdman said in a news release. “We are grateful for the courage of the victims and the dedication of our law enforcement personnel in bringing these men to justice.”
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, a girl who was just 14 when the conspiracy began in 2014 was sexually assaulted by all three men. Some of the sex acts are believed to have taken place at Greater Life Christian Center where Mr. Haynes was pastor.
Between 2014 and 2017, Mr. Haynes groomed and exploited the girl, used his cell phone to record the sexual assaults, routinely gave her money afterward, and told her not to tell anyone because it could ruin his family and his church, prosecutors say.
Mr. Haynes also is accused of introducing the teen to other men, including Mr. Jenkins, for sexual activity and for sharing pornographic photographs and videos.
Prosecutors allege that between December 2016, and March 2017, Mr. Jenkins sexually exploited the girl at his West Toledo home on Barrington Drive, at his office at Abundant Life Ministries where he was the pastor, and at a motel in Toledo. Prosecutors said he paid her for sex usually between $100 and $300 referring to the payment as “hush money.” Like Mr. Haynes, he’s accused of recording some of the interactions with his cell phone.
Mr. Jenkins is accused of paying for sex acts with a second underage girl in March.
Mr. Butler is charged with trafficking a third underage girl between 2015 and March, 2017. According to court documents, the girl told investigators she met Mr. Butler at Mr. Haynes’ church when she was 15 and he would give her rides to his church in the Detroit area.
The girl said she had sex with Mr. Butler in his car twice and he gave her money once. He later reportedly told her to lie to the FBI if she was questioned about him.
Both Mr. Haynes and Mr. Butler are charged with obstruction of a sex trafficking investigation Mr. Haynes for allegedly trying to destroy electronic evidence of sex trafficking and Mr. Butler for instructing another person to lie and lying himself to law enforcement about his involvement.
At their arraignment Tuesday, U.S. District Court Judge Jack Zouhary asked each of the men to tell him a little bit about their educational and work backgrounds.
Mr. Haynes described himself as “a former pastor,” while Mr. Jenkins said he had “pastored full time” for the past 23 years.
Mr. Butler, pastor of Kingdom Encounter Family Worship Center, did not mention serving as a pastor but said he had worked in a variety of security jobs, most recently as a security guard for Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center, Mercy Health St. Anne Hospital, and Mercy Health St. Charles Hospital.
In addition to the conspiracy charge, Mr. Butler who was not named in the original indictment filed in April against Mr. Jenkins and Mr. Haynes was indicted on two counts of sex trafficking of children and one count of obstruction of a sex trafficking investigation.
Judge Zouhary scheduled a Jan. 8 status hearing for all three co-defendants, who are to remain in custody.

The qualities I would look out for are
1)the lady must be very homely (very good cook no wash wash o! ) (laughs [Image: 1f601.svg] )
2) must be smart and intelligent.
3)must be God fearing.
4)beauty counts as well. Most men see virginity as a criteria for marrying or dating a lady as for me it’s not, in fact I can’t marry a virgin, who will marry the ones we dated and had sex with if everyone wants a virgin.
 You can’t marry a virgin?
Yes I won’t, and I don’t expect any guy to make virginity a priority or criteria for getting a good date or wife.
Have you dated a virgin?
That’s my private live sorry can’t talk about it.
Why do you think you can’t date or marry a virgin?
Majority of them want to explore when they eventually start having sex, and end up not being faithful, most of them lack manners and are rude feeling their excesses should be tolerated thinking they have diamond down there , moreover if we make dating/marrying a virgin our priority who will marry or date our first and second love whom we had good times with, not being a virgin doesn’t mean a lady can’t make and keep a good home.
 Any message for your fans?
(smiles) Thank you all for the love and support, for the encouragement for following us back to back on Linjust comedy. Pals keep doing that good thing you do, yeah your efforts will pay soon. *ONE LOVE

High school teacher arrested for threatening to fail her students if they don’t have sex with her, reportedly sentenced to 40 years in prison
A teacher of Colombian origin was arrested last year for sending suggestive photos to her students and threatening to make them fail if they refused to have sex with her.
The woman, identified simply as Yokasta M. was arrested after a father of one of the students saw photos of the teacher on his son’s phone and reported to the relevant authorities.
This was in 2016. Soon after she was exposed, her husband filed for divorce.
The case was highly sensational last year and made news headlines. It was reported that the teacher selected the boys, all less than 17 years of age, based on their appearance.
An investigation has been ongoing since and a recent report from Channel 4 of Nicaragua says she has been sentenced to 40 years in prison. A lot of people are questioning the sentence, saying 40 years is too long a time for the crime she committed. (MTONews/LIB)

Google: Why We Honoured Chinua Achebe
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 11-16-2017, 05:25 PM - No Replies

Technology giant, Google said it honoured Nigerian literary icon, Chinua Achebe on its doodle to underscore his status as a figure of 20th century literature.
Surrounded by iconic images of his most famous literary works, the Doodle celebrates Achebe’s legacy on what would have been his 87th birthday.
“One man took it upon himself to tell the world the story of Nigeria through the eyes of its own people.
”Chinua Achebe was the studious son of an evangelical priest. A student of English literature, he started writing in the 1950s, choosing English as his medium but weaving the storytelling tradition of the Igbo people into his books.
”His characters were insiders, everyday people such as the village chief (in Things Fall Apart); the priest (in Arrow of God) or the school teacher (in A Man of the People).
”Through their stories, we witness a Nigeria at the crossroads of civilisation, culture and generations.”
The search engine said that Achebe’s pen brought to life the land and traditions of the Igbo, the hum of everyday village life; the anticipation and excitement of sacred masquerades.
Google added that Achebe’s pen brought to life the stories of the elders and the honour of warriors; the joy of family and the grief of loss.
It said that Achebe was considered by many to be the father of modern African literature and was awarded the Man Booker Prize in 2007.
The honour by the technological giants added up to the long list of awards clinched by the writer in life and in death.
Today: Nov. 16 would have been Achebe’s 87th birthday. The writer died in March, 2013 at the age of 82.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Google Doodle is a special logo on Google’s homepage that is always temporarily alternated and intended to celebrate holidays, events, achievements and people.

Bukola Saraki Shuns Ali Ndume As He Returns To Senate
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-16-2017, 05:20 PM - No Replies

Senator Ali Ndume may be back in the senate following his six-month suspension, but things won't get back to normal just yet for him.
Senate president, Bukola Saraki during the plenary session ignored the special requests of the returning senator who resumed on Wednesday from his six-month suspension by the Senate.
Ali Ndume had wanted his return to be grand but he did not get his wish.
The points of order he raised were all waved aside by the Senate President Bukola Saraki.
Ndume, on Wednesday, raised a point of order to speak on the North-East Development Commission and the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke.
He said, “You know that I have been away for seven and a half months and today, we all know that in my absence, we lost distinguished Senator Isiaka Adeleke, who was sitting right behind me and I used to call him my landlord. I didn’t have the opportunity to pay my tribute. I want to appeal to this Senate to, again, stand for a minute silence and pray for the repose of his soul.
“Secondly, also in my absence, the much-desired bill for the establishment of the North-East Development Commission sponsored by myself and distinguished Senator Kabiru Gaya was signed into law by Mr. President.
“Also in my absence, this Senate magnanimously and unanimously sponsored a bill for the adequate funding of that commission. In view of that, I want to thank everybody who contributed in one way or the other. But most importantly, I want the house to observe a minute silence in honour of our brother, Isiaka Adeleke.”
In his remark, President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, said, “Your point of order is noted,” asking the Majority Leader, Senator Ahmad Lawan, to proceed with the next item on the Order Paper.

Man Climbs Palm Tree In Cute Pre-Wedding Photos As Fiancée Watches

A young love-struck couple decided to abandon elements of civilization by taking their pre-wedding photo-shoot to the past with the wealth of the local tradition expressed.

Chizurum Chukwuocha a.k.a 'All Weather', has decided to finally tie the knot with his fiancee, Nkechi after a successful courtship over a period of time.

Their pre-wedding photo-shoot captures the environment of love in the medieval period before the advent of onstentatious products and lifestyle linked with the 21st century.

An excited Chizurum made an appraisal of his beautiful wife-to-be in a message sent exclusively to TORI News, and can be read below:

"Vivian Nkechinyere Asogwa (Princess Nk) is a pretty damsel whose heart is that of a gold, her smiles brings forth the sparkles of emerald, very prudent in speech.

"She's a God fearing woman, my prayer warrior. i met her on that faithful day after church service, enjoying herself in an exotic restaurant. Like play - like play, things began to go down well, our love grows stronger every single day and finally landed us on the aisle.

"25th of November is the day I will forever dedicate to God almighty for joining us together as one. I love you NKzurum."

Speaking about the couple, a longtime friend of the groom, Odinaka George, who shared the photos said; "Chizurum is my friend, we met way back from IMT Enugu in 2005, he is a kind-hearted, accomodating and takes everyone as his brother. I wish him and his wifey the very best in their marriage."

A couple in Imo state has been arrested for allegedly selling at least two children – one which is theirs and the other, a 2-year old they kidnapped from his parents, Punch‘s Chidiebube Okeoma is reporting.
They were arrested by the Anti-Kidnapping unit of the Imo State Police Command and were paraded on Wednesday by the state Police Public Relations Officer SP Andrew Enwerem.
Enwerem disclosed that the couple – Ifeanyi Anyanwu and Amarachi Ugorji – allegedly stole the child and sold him for N500,000.

Quote:“On August 28, 2017, Ifeanyi Anyanwu, 23; and Amarachi Ugorji,18, conspired and kidnapped (name withheld), who is two years and six months old, from his parents in Umuozu- Uguiri in the Isiala Mbano LGA.
The two suspects, after the kidnap, started demanding ransom from the parents of the child. When the parents of the kidnapped child could not provide the money, they opted to sell the child to one Ifenyinwa Duru, 39, at the cost of N500,000. Duru, in turn, resold the child to one Chidinma Emmanuel, 42, at the cost of N700,000.
The two buyers were arrested in Aba following painstaking investigation, while the child was rescued unhurt and has since been reunited with the legitimate parents by the command.
The suspects have confessed to the crime and investigation has been concluded. The syndicate will soon be charged to court.
The Commissioner of Police Chris Ezike, has instructed all heads of the tactical units of the command to go all out against those who trade in human beings, especially children, who have done nothing wrong except that they were born into a society that has lost its values,” Punch quoted Enwerem as saying.
Chidinma Emmanuel, who is the second buyer, said she was desperate to have a male child after her husband’s death, adding that the desperation led her into the crime.
The couple told Punch that they had sold their first child on credit to someone in Port Harcourt for N200,000. The case is being investigated.
Punch reports that Amarachi Ugorji is expecting another child soon.

CYRIACUS IZUEKWE

It was a tale of pity for a 15-year old housemaid who was abducted, drugged by two men and kept in captivity for five days.

The incident happened at Isalawori Street in Ikeja where the house maid lived with her madam, Alhaja Ayeleru Oluwatoyin.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that apart from the abduction and drugging of the victim, the suspects Ephriam Kelechi, 29 and Marvelous Ibegbulam, 32 turned her into a sort of sex slave and were having sex with her in turns in their hideout at the Agege Area of Lagos.

According to the victim, the suspects lured her into their trap under the false pretence of getting her another job that will fetch her more money.

She agreed and followed them late in the evening to a place in Agege without informing her madam.

She narrated that when they got there, she was offered soft drinks which she drank and became unconscious.

It was gathered that while the victim got missing, her madam was arrested and was asked to produced the victim which she was unable to do.

However, a search party was arranged and eventually the victim was found at Agege market where they took her for an undisclosed mission.

The suspects were later arrested and charged before Ikeja Magistrates court for the alleged offence.

They pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. A. Akokhia granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The suspects were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.

The matter was adjourned till 12 December, 2017.

When P.M.EXPRESS contacted the victim’s madam, Alhaja Oluwatoyin at her office at Balogun Street in Ikeja, she confirmed the incident.

She said when the victim got missing that she went to the police and reported the matter but that only started her own trouble.

She said she was arrested, detained at the police station and was asked to produce the victim.

She said it was a traumatic experience for her and thanked God that her house maid was later found.

TOP FACTS YOU PROBABLY DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT ROBERT MUGABE
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Gimbiya - 11-16-2017, 04:56 PM - No Replies

Top facts you probably didn’t know about Robert Mugabe
The Republic of Zimbabwe is a country divided into ten provinces which are then divided up into districts, and then by municipalities. This is mostly due to previous war efforts that the country has gone through. Zimbabwe has gone through political turmoil and civil unrest for decades and has been a repeat offender for violating the basic human rights of its citizens. The political structure of Zimbabwe is a republic, but they have a semi-presidential system of government with an upper Senate and a lower House of Assembly that has a President as the head of the country.
The current President of Zimbabwe is Robert Mugabe, he was born on February 21, 1924, in Kutama, Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). He was the son of a village carpenter and was trained as a teacher in a Roman Catholic mission school. After mission school, Mugabe went into nationalist politics while he was a student at the University College of Fort Hare, South Africa. Robert Mugabe completed his economics degree in 1958 but kept on teaching in a school in Ghana until  1960. He also taught at St. Mary’s Teacher Training College where he met his first wife, Sarah Heyfron. The became friends and later married in 1961.
Robert Mugabe returned to Rhodesia in 1960, and in 1963 he helped the Reverend Ndabaningi Sithole to form the Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU) but his political career actually began when he joined the National Democratic Party, which then became the Zimbabwe African Peoples Union (ZAPU). He was there for a while before he founded the Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU). The two parties, ZAPU and ZANU clashed, which resulted in the party’s leaders, and Robert Mugabe serving a time in jail. After serving ten years in jail, Robert Mugabe was voted leader of ZANU, before forming a militant faction of the party. Robert Mugabe was later elected Prime Minister of the first government of Zimbabwe, with ZANU winning the majority of the seats in the new Parliament, and under his rule, the two feuding political parties formed the conjoined Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF).
Robert Mugabe abolished the position of Prime Minister in 1987, and assumed the position of President of Zimbabwe, and has held this position for over three decades. With all these, it seems that there’s no more to be known but with an enigma like Mugabe, we have fished out very interesting facts that most people still don’t know about him.
Table of Contents

Early Life

  1. His full name is Robert Gabriel Mugabe. He was born on 21st February 1924 in Kutama, Southern Rhodesia, which is now Zimbabwe. The place came under the British rule at that point in time and the region was under too much political stress because of this reason.
  2. Gabriel Matibili was his father. He was a carpenter. His mother, Bona, was from the Shona ethnic group.
  3. Robert Mugabe comes from a highly dysfunctional family background
  4. Robert Mugabe is reported to have had two older brothers when he was a young boy, both of whom died while they were still only children. Around the time of the second child’s death aged 10, his father abandoned the family in 1934. Robert Mugabe’s mother had to start a new family thereafter, and so she went on to bear new children from another husband.
  5. Some sources also report that Mugabe’s father went to South Africa to work at a Jesuit mission when Mugabe was still a little boy, but he never came back home.
  6. His mother was left alone to raise Mugabe and his three other siblings on her own.
  7. His stepfather was a strict and fanatically religious man and made sure that Robert Mugabe was brought up in line with the Catholic faith, sending him to a Jesuit school, where discipline was of paramount importance, instilling some ‘tough love’ values in Mugabe, which he says have guided him throughout his life.
  8. Mugabe tried to help his mother by tending cows and doing odd jobs in his childhood.
  9. Mugabe had a special interest in education. He had his schooling under the guidance of the school director Father O’Hea.
  10. Mugabe luckily had a good influence in his childhood as he was under the supervision of O’Hea, who taught him to treat all people equally and directed toward education fulfilment. His teachers used to often call him “a clever child”.
  11. He diligently finished his college education at the Katuma’s St. Francis Xavier College in the year 1945.  He didn’t lose his touch with the education sector as he chose the profession of a teacher and taught in Rhodesia and Ghana.
  12. He also pursued higher education at Fort Hare University in South Africa at the same time. In 1951, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and English from there.
  13. After that, he returned to his place to help locals with education. He decided to continue his education and earned the degree of Bachelors of Education through the correspondence course in 1953 when he was in his hometown.
  14. When he was in the hometown, he noticed the residents of Southern Rhodesia were pretty oppressed about the new rules and restrictions placed on their daily lives.
Personal life
  1. Mugabe is of average height, measuring a little over 5 feet 7 inches, and exhibits what his biographer David Blair described as “curious, effeminate mannerisms”. Mugabe took great care with his appearance, typically wearing a three-piece suit, and insisting that members of his cabinet dressed in a similar Anglophile fashion.
  2. Mugabe doesn’t smoke or drink.
  3. It was Ghana, where he met his wife Sally Hayfron for the first time and got married to her. However, he got married to Grace Marufu (who was his then secretary), who is his present wife, after Sally’s death.
  4. He had one son with Sally Hayfron, but he died at the age of 4. He has two sons and one daughter with Grace Marufu.
Education
  1. The very first unknown fact about President Robert Mugabe is that while he was incarcerated in Wha Wha prison, then the Sikombela, and then finally Salisbury prison where he served the majority of his prison sentence, he earned two law degrees; a BSc, Bachelor of Law and MSc Master of Law. He earned these degrees from the University of London’s external program. – Besides these degrees, Mugabe has earned thirteen Honorary LLD, D. Com and D. Tech degrees, with three of the LLD degrees, revoked.
  2. Mugabe holds a total of seven degrees, including a Bachelor of Laws and Masters of Laws from the University of London. His other degrees cover the academic fields of economics, education and administration.
  3. But on top of all his own merits, he was also awarded several honorary degrees as well as other official honours – many of which have since been revoked on account of the human rights violations in Zimbabwe under his rule. Both the University of Massachusetts and Michigan State University in the United States withdrew Mugabe’s honorary doctorates as well as the University of Edinburgh in the UK.
Revolutionary Activity, Political Career and Ideology
  1. At 93, he is the oldest head of state on Earth. He has been in power for 37 years.
  2. Robert Mugabe has been the Prime Minister of Zimbabwe Since 1980.
  3. He also served his nation as a President.
  4. When Mugabe went to his hometown in 1960 to introduce his fiancée, he discovered a drastic change in the place which left him quite disappointed.
  5. Mugabe was selected Public Secretary of the National Democratic Party in 1960.
  6. He co-founded Zimbabwe African National Union in 1963.
  7. He was arrested for his aggressive protests against the British colonial Government and imprisoned for ten years.
  8. He enjoys being compared to Hitler. When someone made the comparison, due to his alleged racist attitudes towards white people, Mugabe responded, ‘I am still the Hitler of the time. This Hitler has only one objective, justice for his own people, sovereignty for his people, recognition of the independence of his people, and their right to their resources. If that is Hitler, then let me be a Hitler tenfold.’
  9. Mugabe was actually nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize when he took power in 1981, but a series of massacres which left thousands dead turned global opinion against him.
  10. Mugabe has (allegedly) fiddled elections using intimidation and other tactics – and also won the lottery in Zimbabwe in 2000, winning 100,000 Zimbabwean dollars.
  11. Mugabe was originally a teacher, and while his regime has become notorious for violence, Zimbabwe has a literacy level of above 90%. This is due largely to Robert Mugabe’s passion for education, and his past history of learning to become a teacher and teaching fellow inmates how to read while he was incarcerated.
  12. Mugabe was actually knighted, but his knighthood was withdrawn in 2008 after 14 years. President Robert Mugabe was awarded Knight Grand Cross in the Order of the Bath in 1994 by Queen Elizabeth II for improving relations between Britain and Zimbabwe, but this was revoked in 2008 due to his abuse of the basic human rights of his citizens, and his total disregard for the democratic process which his presidency has ruled over.  So, on 25 June 2008, the Queen of England cancelled and annulled the honorary knighthood after advice from the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom. “This action has been taken as a mark of revulsion at the abuse of human rights and abject disregard for the democratic process in Zimbabwe over which President Mugabe has presided”
  13. When Gordon Brown attempted to step in over Mugabe’s refusal to release election results (he lost, but remains in power through a new sharing arrangement) in 2008, Mugabe described him as a, ‘a little tiny dot on this planet’.
  14. Mugabe was raised in a Jesuit school, and is a devoted Catholic, attending the funeral of the last Pope despite a ‘no-fly’ rule barring him from most of the planet. Robert Mugabe does not seem to care much about proper travel documentation.
The year was 2013. The occasion: the inauguration of Pope Francis in Vatican Square. Despite the fact that Mr Mugabe was pretty much listed on every no-fly list in the Western world and is still not allowed to enter the EU on account of hefty sanctions imposed on the Zimbabwean leader, he still somehow managed to sneak in and out of Italy on his way to the Vatican in order to witness the pontification of Francis.
Citing religious reasons, he managed to subvert the ban and attend the ceremony like a true pilgrim of faith. He may have received his blessing and even his absolution while he was at St Peter’s Basilica, but whether he will truly be forgiven for all his sins is an altogether different question, which we can’t even begin to answer.

  15. Mugabe often drops provocative quotes about how much he hates white people, such as, ‘The white man is here as a second citizen. The only man you can trust is a dead white man.’ Robert Mugabe has been viewed as being racist towards white people and targeting white citizens in various ways. Along with this, due to his religious views, he’s opposed to LGBT rights in Zimbabwe, banning homosexual acts within the country, and stating that homosexuals were “worse than dogs and pigs”.
  16. For years, Mugabe has travelled to East Asia for medical treatment – reputed to involve transfusions – which has left him, he claims, ‘Fitter than two fiddles’.
Mugabe claims that age has not diminished his strength – suggesting, ‘I feel as energetic as a nine-year-old boy.’

  17. His birthday party will cost £650,000 – a display Human Rights Watch has branded ‘obscene’ in a country where one in three children is stunted due to hunger, according to the UN. Mugabe’s guests reportedly enjoy two elephants at the birthday ‘do’ – provided by a local farmer, much to the horror of conservationists. Guests at his birthday also receive T-shirts commemorating events in Mugabe’s life.
  18. Mugabe led his country’s revolution against a colonial regime backed by Britain in 1980, and he still has support among some Africans. Mugabe was elected chairman of the 54-nation African Union at a summit of African leaders in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
  19. He spent ten years in prison before assuming the leadership of Zimbabwe.
  20. While serving as Prime Minister, Robert Mugabe allowed thousands of Matabeleland natives to be killed, due to political tensions between him and his opposing political party, which resulted in the formation of the one big Zimbabwean political party – but not without the cost of over 20,000 lives.
  21. Robert Mugabe is a lottery winner. In 2000, when Zimbabwe was barely managing to come out of its worst famine and one out of two Zimbabweans was suffering from continuous unemployment, Robert Mugabe’s name was the one that was miraculously drawn by the national lottery in Zimbabwe, winning 100,000 Zimbabwean dollars (the equivalent of about $2,500 today). The entire country was surprised at the time but with the lottery being drawn by the country’s Reserve Bank, and with many of its directors having direct ties to or careers in government that surprise turned out to be short-lived. However, Mugabe’s lucky win in the 2000 lottery was nothing compared to the lavish spending on his 90th birthday celebrations earlier this year, which is assumed to have run a total bill of over $40 million, pulled together from party funds, municipal money and ‘donations’. When it comes to money, our neighbour Bob is certainly not short of creative ideas.
Mugabe and his family alongside top government officials are being held under house arrest by the military in the country. His Minister of Finance has also been detained.

Keela was already separated from Jamie before Yvonne came into the picture. Karma is serving Keela cos she also snatched Jamie from his Original wife in her desperation for 'Pali' after she was chased out of Abuja by the wife of Chucks whom she almost married.
Her divorce is already through and she is not happy that Jamie got himself a celeb and that is why she decided to do one last damage to what Yvonne and Jamie have going on...
She would not have uttered a word about her already crashed Marriage if Yvonne was not a celeb...
According to Insiders ''She Started working for CRBC (Cross River state broadcasting corporation) as a newscaster. Then moved to Abuja and got into AIT where she dated a Married man which almost went south. Then started dating Chucks and his wife called her out on Instagram and threatened her for driving his g-wagon around town and posing as his wife. She quickly left town after the epic disgrace and would later surface for her masters in the UK and in the bid to not return, she got married to Jamie whom she snatched.
She married Jamie but was still seeing that the Abuja guy cos Jamie could not fund her lifestyle...Jamie knew about all her runs and that was part of the reasons their Marriage packed up''
Keela is a user too. This is her second marriage. Her first marriage was to some 'Americana' guy when she was in Unical..She was outed for double dating dating a  big politician and a big restaurateur. The politician was so upset that he threatened to pour her acid and She vanished from town with her blue golf car. She got married  but she left the guy because he could not fund her lifestyle''
That's how Emma rolls. She's up for what she can do to make her life glamorous and she will do anything she can to get there. Some type of determination? Maybe. But she should stop acting like the victim. She needed the passport/ residency to pick up her lifestyle. She got it.  She's just 30 and she's had two divorces already. And i tell you we haven't heard the last of her''.
Their Conclusion? Yvonne Nelson did not Snatch Jamie the photographer as she was already going through a divorce when they met.....

Yvonne Nelson's Oyinbo Baby Daddy Is Legally Married To A Nigerian Woman, Keela

Seems like Yvonne Nelson has really dug herself into a ditch as matters surrounding her pregnancy continue to dominate the headlines.

Yvonne spoke out on her new baby for the first time in a WOW Magazine exclusive and in that interview, painted a rosy picture of the man whose baby she’s having – although that looks far from the truth now.

Jamie, the London based photographer who knocked it straight in for Yvonne, has been exposed by his current, legal wife who is in the midst of divorce proceedings with him.

A Nigerian woman, Keela Harrison spoke to the Nigerian celebrity blog Instablog9ja and revealed Yvonne Nelson was telling Ghanaians some lies with some of the comments she passed.

According to Jamie’s legal wife, Yvonne met him through her as she wanted slimming pills and followed her (the wife) on Instagram. Through her she became acquainted with the husband and later snatched him away.

The wife had a lot to say and the blog uploaded all the screenshots — and before you even check them out below, GhanaCelebrities.Com has obtained a photo from Keela and Jamie Roberts wedding back then, indicating that indeed the two got married in London.

A little alcohol could be good for breastfed babies - Australian Study Reveals
[Image: wine.jpg]
As a nursing mum, did you know that you can have an occasional alcoholic beverage? Yes! A new study reveals that a little alcoholic wine from time to time is not dangerous for the baby. Afterall, most Nigerian new mums drink palm wine to boost breast milk production. Well, New mothers may be able to start drinking again sooner than they
thought, with new research suggesting a little bit of alcohol can actually be good for breastfed babies.
The Australian study, run by Deakin University researcher Delyse Hutchinson, found that babies suckled by women who drank in moderation actually had “more favourable results for personal-social development”.
A number of babies were monitored until their first birthday and compared to babies whose mothers abstained from alcohol.
More than 60 percent of mothers said they had drunk alcohol eight weeks after giving birth, the study found, and 70 percent said they’d started drinking within 12 months.
The majority of those who drank did so in moderation – less than 14 drinks a week and less than three in one sitting. They also reported using various strategies, such as making sure enough time passed between their drinking and feeding their child.
The safest way for women to drink was right after feeding their baby, the study reported.
In most cases the child’s development was completely unaffected by the drinking at eight to 12 weeks. The positive effect of the mum’s behaviours on their child’s social development may not be so much about the alcohol as it is about them being in more social environments, the study suggested.
The children’s social advantage appears to have been positively influenced by mum’s who headed out for a drink and spent time in social situations with the baby.

Nigerian Suya Gizzard Skewers
[Image: DSC02373.JPG]
This is one really quick recipe you can actually prepare when all the guests have arrived, that way it remains hot and fresh when you serve it. This is not a contender or replacement for the Christmas rice with stew recipe, I just like adding it to my menus because it brings in a lot of colour to the table. I love a lot of colours in my dishes and fresh fruits and vegetables always help me achieve that. The cucumbers, tomatoes, onions and green peppers just makes the skewers pop! So why not add this in your Christmas menu. It is colourful and it gives the guests the feeling of having real suya at your home and that’s not very common!
This recipe is what I would call a perfect combination of spicy and cool, so you have the suya spices burning your taste buds while the cucumbers, tomatoes and green peppers sets your tongue at ease and cools them down at the same time. Each bite from this suya gizzard skewers is a perfect marriage of these elements coming together as one. This is a perfect side attraction that everyone will love to grab.
It is very important that you select very fresh vegetables because they will be eaten raw. You don’t want your guests abandoning the skewers because you chose bad vegetables. You want really fresh vegetables to go with the suya gizzard skewers that way, the real taste of the suya spices stands out

Let’s cook!

Ingredients
[Image: DSC02351.JPG]
1) Suya spice mix 100g

2) Fresh gizzards 1kg

3) Seasoning 4g

4) Olive oil ¾ cup

5) Fresh cucumber (cubed)

6) Fresh tomatoes

7) Onions (wedges)

8) Green pepper

Directions

1) Wash the gizzards and all the vegetables thoroughly

2) Divide the suya spice mix into two halves, pour one half into a  bowl and add in half a cup of water to make a running paste, pour this paste into the gizzards and mix with a wooden spatula, if you like you can also make fork piercings into the gizzards so that the spices can get deeply into the gizzards

3) Set this aside for 30 minutes to marinate

 [Image: DSC02354.JPG][Image: DSC02357.JPG]

4) Now make a thicker paste with the other half of the spices and the olive oil, add the seasoning and mix well, dip the marinated gizzards into this paste one after the other. Make sure they are well coated

 [Image: DSC02358.JPG][Image: DSC02359.JPG]

5) Grease your baking tray and add the gizzards into the tray. Pop this in the oven for 50 minutes at gas mark 200. Make sure you check at 30 minutes just to make sure it does not burn

Cooks tip: remember that the bigger the gizzards, the more time it will spend in the oven, you need to put this into consideration when shopping.
6) When it is ready leave aside for 10 minutes or until cool enough, stick the gizzards and the fresh vegetables one after the other in into the skewers. Serve on a platter and display on your table, am sure everyone will reach out and grab a skewer!

BRAD PITT AND JENNIFER ANISTON TO GIVE THEIR RELATIONSHIP A SECOND CHANCE

Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston to Give Their Relationship a Second Chance (EXCLUSIVE)

[Image: jennifer-aniston-brad-pitt.jpg?auto=comp...q=55&w=750]
It was a Halloween they won't ever forget. At her historic $25 million Beverley Hills mansion on Oct. 31, Angelina Jolie let her six children "throw a huge party," a source tells In Touchexclusively. “The house was done up like the ultimate fright fest.” They dyed the pool water red to make it look like blood, hauled in a fog machine to up the spook factor and decked the 11,000-square-foot house with hand-selected decorations. (Angelina was spotted dropping $1,000 on costumes and decor, including a fake dead bird in a cage, at the Glendale, CA, store Glendale Halloween in early October.) “It was special,” continues the source. “All of Angie’s and the kids’ friends attended.” On the guest list: Japanese rocker-actor Miyavi, who starred in Angelina’s Unbroken, and Loung Ung, the author whose life story Angie told in First They Killed My Father. “Everyone the kids hold near and dear was there.”
Except their dad, Brad Pitt. “He was deeply hurt he couldn’t be a part of it,” says the source. In the 14 months since Angelina, 42, blindsided him and filed for divorce, “Brad realizes how much he’s been cut out of the kids’ lives.” But he’s not giving up and is determined to keep his bond strong with Maddox, 16, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 11, and nine-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. While being a dad comes first in his life, he’s also reestablished a very special relationship — his connection to Jennifer Aniston, the woman he left for Angelina in 2005. And after months of talks and texts, they’ve grown closer than ever. “Brad’s conversations with Jen have helped him negotiate his new life as he’s getting divorced,” says the source. “He feels a deep connection with her.” And while the source insists that Brad, 53, “would never dream of” coming between Jen, 48, and her husband of two years, Justin Theroux, 46, if they were to break up, “Brad would take a second chance at love with Jen in a heartbeat.”
[Image: brad-pitt-jennifer-aniston.jpg?auto=comp...q=55&w=750]
A Jen and Justin breakup is not out of the realm of possibility. The couple, who first became involved after they worked together on the 2012 movie Wanderlust, “have had their fair share of marital problems,” says the source. For starters, “they spend more time apart than together, with him preferring NYC and her LA,” continues the source. Jen and Justin were photographed together on Oct. 1 in NYC and then weren’t pictured together again for the rest of the month, and then some. And since Sept. 1, he’s hit the red carpet for his new movieThe LEGO Ninjago Movie solo, attended an event at Legoland in Carlsbad, CA, alone and has been spotted in NYC without Jen nine times.
Filming for his HBO drama, The Leftovers, also took him to Australia for an extended period of time recently. “He revels in far-flung locations,” says the source. “And she’s a California homebody.” It’s just one of their many differences. Jen, the bubbly girl-next-door type, and Justin, a brooding, tattooed motorcycle aficionado, “basically have little in common,” says the source. She and Brad, however, still have an intense bond. And it’s something the exes, who were first set up on a date by their publicists back in 1998, are realizing as they have reconnected as friends. As In Touch previously reported, over the summer, Brad reached out to Jen to apologize for the way he treated her in their marriage. “He came off as genuinely sorry, and Jen was deeply touched,” an insider said at the time. “She was completely won over.” She was so charmed, in fact, that they have continued to talk. One of their frequent topics of conversation: Brad's painful split from Angelina, their custody battle and how she tried to painted him as a villain after an incident involving Brad and their sons aboard a private jet in September 2016. “Jen’s completely on Brad’s side when it comes to getting joint custody of the kids,” says the source.
[Image: brad-pitt-angelina-jolie-kids-680-495.jp...q=55&w=750]
“Jen has a way of calming and encouraging Brad.” Following his split from Angelina, Brad got sober and entered therapy, “and he’s in touch with emotions and his true self like never before,” adds the source. “He’s come to realize that leaving Jen for Angelina was one of the biggest mistakes of his life. And while he’s not in love with Jen, he realizes how much he does love her. Brad keeps telling friends that he’s seeing everything more clearly.”
One thing he envisions: much more of Jen in his life. Even if they can’t be together romantically, he wants to work with his ex. When they were married and formed the production company Plan B in 2001, “they really worked well together as partners,” says an insider close to Brad. “He wants Jen involved again as he produces and develops more and more high-quality film and cable TV products.” Well aware that Brad won best picture Oscars for producing 12 Years a Slave and Moon- light, “Jennifer wants in on such prestige projects,” adds the insider. “She’d be beyond thrilled to win an Academy Award for best actress — something that’s evaded both her and Angelina — under Brad’s production banner.”
The friends also want to partner on non showbiz projects. Both of them are into renovations and “they were always working on ideas for homes together when they were married, and they’ve already been talking about ideas for future house and building projects,” says the insider. “It’s something he’s always shared with Jen, as opposed to Angelina, who couldn’t care less about interior design or home renovation.” Indeed, she told Vanity Fair recently that design “was always Brad’s thing...I didn’t even know I needed throw pillows.”
It took a painful divorce — and 12 years apart — for Brad and Jen to realize how in sync they are. “They have reached a level of closeness and understanding that they never had when they were married,” says the source. What that means for them in the future is very much up in the air. But one thing is certain as far as Brad is concerned, says the source: “He still considers Jen the love of his life.”
