Daredevil couple take their wedding photos to dangerous Chaya mountain (Photos)
These newly-weds promised to have and to hold on very tight as they posed for their wedding photos while dangling from a sheer cliff face.
The daredevil couple scaled Chaya Mountain in Zhumadian, Henan province, in central China.
The scenic location was used in the filming of a TV series based on the classic Chinese novel, Journey To The West.
The couple were joined by staff dressed as characters from the show.
And it seems the couple couldn’t resist adding a very quirky twist to their wedding photos. (MirrorUK)

Nigerian man abandons wife abroad for trading her body for Euros in Dublin
A man simply known as Ferguson (surname withheld) who travelled abroad to stay with his wife, has been forced to abandon her and return home after he discovered that his wife, Chiazor was trading her private for Euros in Dublin.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Ferguson pleaded with Chiazor for him to return back to Nigeria because he could not withstand the sight of men coming to sleep with her for money.
The Abia State-born Ferguson recently returned to Nigeria, swore never to remain married to Chiazor and now wants to marry another woman to live with him in the same property that was bought with the money Chiazor sent to him while in Lagos, Nigeria.
The couple used to reside in a rented apartment at Ajao Estate, Lagos before the wife travelled to Dublin, Ireland for greener pastures, while Ferguson who was a clearing agent stayed back in Nigeria.
It was gathered that while the wife was abroad, she used to send containers, vehicles and Euros to her husband who usually remitted back some money to her and then spent the rest on properties.
However, when Ferguson’s business was no longer booming in Apapa, Lagos he informed his wife that he wanted to join her over there. It was gathered that his wife had advised him to stay back in Nigeria and she will be sending money to him to invest.
Ferguson continued to pile pressure on her until she processed his papers and facilitated his movement to join her in Dublin.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that after Ferguson had settled down, the wife then explained to him what she was doing there and told him that since he chose to come over against her advice that he had to bear whatever was happening.
It was gathered that Ferguson was turned to a house help and Chiazor never introduced him as her husband, and his work was serving the guests who visited his wife for sex regularly.
When Ferguson could no longer bear that, he pleaded with his wife to allow him go back to Nigeria. The wife initially refused and seized his international passport as she claimed she had warned him not to come over. However, she later released him after she got pressure from her own family and Ferguson eventually returned.
When P.M.EXPRESS contacted Ferguson, he confirmed that he was forced to return to Nigeria and he had planned to marry another woman because he would not want to continue with Chiazor.
A member of Chiazor’s family who got wind of the plan said that, since Ferguson claimed that he was no longer interested in marrying Chiazor, that they will return the dowry he paid on her. He however said that Ferguson should be prepared to hand over all the properties he had bought from the money and stuff Chiazor had been sending to him.

Smallville actress Allison Mack ‘Chloe Sullivan’ accused of being leader of an evil sex cult
Hollywood is in a weird space lately with all the sexual assault charges and bizarre revelations coming forward.
With that said, nobody would have expected that Smallville actress Allison Mack would be described as someone who is the head of controversial sex cult.
However, the Daily Mail UK claims that the Teen Choice Award actress, who played Chloe Sullivan on the hit show, is connected to the NXIVM, an organization who has been described by former members as a terrifying cult.
According to the group’s former publicist, Frank Parlato (who spoke to The Sun), the actress has allegedly been “brainwashed” by the group’s leader Keith Raniere to recruit what he describes as “slaves”.
They are then forcibly branded with her initials (AM) and ordered to follow her commands. This group is called DOS, short for “dominus obsequious sororium” (Latin for the “master over the slave women”) and form part of the self-help group NXIVM.
Parlato also claims that in order to join, women are forced into handing over blackmail-worthy material (such as pornographic pictures or financial information).
Last month a New York Times article broke the news about the NXIVM group and exposed it as a slave cult. Dynasty star Catherine Oxenberg told prosecutors in the office of NY Attorney General Eric Schneiderman that her daughter India is being blackmailed by Keith Raniere.
“I’m desperate to save my daughter,” Oxenberg told online publication Page Six. “I want to help the other young women. I am desperately hoping the authorities take notice and investigate.” (fortressofsolitude)

South African parents sue after 5-yr-old son drowns in school latrine
The parents of a five-year-old South African boy, Michael Komape who died after falling into a pit latrine at school are suing the Minister of Basic Education.
The boy’s mother, Rosina and her husband, James broke down in court as they described finding his body on the first day of the civil lawsuit.
Michael was a pupil at the Mahlodumela Primary School in the northern Limpopo province. He had gone to the toilet on 20 January 2014 when he disappeared. Mrs Komape told the court that the head teacher called her and said her son was missing. She said a child in the same class told her he had fallen into the toilet.

[Image: 98729810_83ad8292-fa24-4762-903f-eee7baa...00x337.jpg]
Michael’s mother said that she “could see his whole arm but could not see the rest of his body” and says she fainted after that. Mrs Komape says she lost her job as a direct result of the trauma she suffered because of her son’s death.
The Komape family originally filed the lawsuit in 2015‚ but delays mean the case is only just being heard in the Polokwane High Court. Michael’s parents are also suing the Limpopo education ministry and the school principal, arguing they acted negligently or in violation of learners’ constitutional right to a basic education.
The Komapes say the toilets were dilapidated and therefore not fit for human use. They are are seeking over three million rand ($210,000; £160,000) for trauma, grief, medical expenses, funeral costs and lack of earnings.
In court documents, the defendants deny that Michael’s death was a result of any negligent or unconstitutional conduct on their parts. They say it was an accident.

Cofounder of world’s first gay dating site dies in South Africa
51-year-old Henry Badenhorst, the founder of groundbreaking dating site Gaydar, died after falling from a tower block on Saturday in his native South Africa, Buzzfeed reported.
He died a decade after his co-founder and former partner, Gary Frisch, fell to his death in London. The two created Gaydar, which became the world’s largest dating site for gay and bisexual men, in 1999 when a friend said he was too busy to find a partner.

He stepped back from the company in 2010, three years after Mr Frisch’s death, which deeply affected him. But seven years later, Mr Badenhorst’s legacy, both on and offline, within the LGBT community and outside it, can be felt as strongly as ever.
He realised he changed the world in a way that surprised him,” Rob Curtis, Gaydar’s current managing director told the BBC. It has, Mr Curtis said, made it safer for all LGBT people to meet.
“It was difficult for gay men to find each other, and they were really the first gay social network – and the legacy of that has lived on,” he added

Heartbroken man reveals how his wife dumped him and their 9 kids because of a Gambian guy she met on Facebook
A heartbroken British husband has narrated how his wife of 23 years left him and their nine children to be with her Gambian lover she met on Facebook.
Andy Hepworth, 44, says his wife Heidi Hepworth, 44, ditched him for 30-year-old Mamadou Jallow from Gambia after she started chatting with strangers online.

According to the heartbroken man, who feels his wife has been brainwashed, says she’s now asking for a divorce, saying her future is with Mamadou.
He said she gave herself new treats, including getting new tattoos, giving herself a makeover, then flew to Gambia last month, her first ever trip out of the UK – abandoning her nine children and starting a new life with Mamadou.
Speaking to the Sun UK, the devasted husband said:
It’s a midlife crisis. She started going to the gym, booking sunbeds, getting tattoos and wearing dresses. The person she has become is horrible. She was a loving, caring mum.
Now it’s like an alien has possessed her body. He has brainwashed her. It’s one big fantasy for her and she is following it through step by step.”

Andy and Heidi met in the 1990s and were together 23 years. The couple has six children together and Andy has raised three children Heidi had from a previous marriage as his own.
He added:
It felt like my heart had been ripped out. I loved her. We were always a rock solid. But I think it’s over. She’s said and done too much. A caring mum wouldn’t go off gallivanting around Africa with her new boyfriend.”

Man stabs girlfriend to death for refusing him sex because she was breastfeeding
A 26-year-old man allegedly killed the mother of his one-month-old baby boy for refusing him sex in Midrand, South Africa.
The man, said to be originally from the Eastern Cape, allegedly stabbed his 23-year-old girlfriend, Isabella Dease repeatedly, leaving her body in an open veld in President Park outside Ivory Park, Midrand.
The horrific murder happened on Saturday, 14 days before the start of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign.
Charles Dease, the grieving father Isabella (inset) said he wishes a death sentence could be imposed on the man who killed his daughter.
He deserves a death sentence. It was painful nd traumatic when I saw the bloodied body of my girl.”
He said his daughter had been stabbed several times in the neck, but a police source said her throat had been slit with a kitchen knife.
According to police sources, the man made two statements to the police, in one of the statements confessing to killing his girlfriend.
A source said the man had called the police to report that his girlfriend had been killed by two unknown men driving in a black BMW sedan.
He said to the police that he left the house with his girlfriend to buy baby clothes in Midrand. He claimed they were accosted by a black BMW with two occupants.
He said the passenger started to have a conversation with the girlfriend and it appeared the passenger and the mother of his child were acquaintances.”

The source said the man claimed the two men made a U-turn near Grand Central Airport and took them to a secluded area where he was pointed at with a firearm while the occupant dragged his girlfriend out of the car and stabbed her to death.
However, further investigation revealed the statement made to the police was false.
Another source said after hours of interrogation, the man confessed to killing his girlfriend for refusing to have sex with him since she was breastfeeding the infant.

He confessed and he later showed the police a knife he used to kill her and also his blood-stained clothes. After killing her he rushed to Ivory Park where he changed his black shoes and wore brown ones. We are also trying to find two missing phones of the woman.”
Dease described his daughter as a calm person, very quiet and introverted. He said his daughter studied tourism at Ekurhuleni West College, adding that the family would take care of her child.
On Sunday, family and community members gathered in a corrugated shack to offer prayers. Several family members frantically fought back tears.
Midrand police spokesman Warrant Officer Mmakgomo Semono confirmed a man had been arrested and charged with the murder of his girlfriend.
“The man had earlier given police different stories as to what happened. He will appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court today.”
According to the family, Dease is expected to be buried at GaMatlala village in Limpopo on Saturday.

Nasarawa man impregnates his wife's teenage younger sister, turns her into second wife while building family home with hustling wife's money
[Image: family.png]
I’m not always around due to the nature of my business,” she confessed, “but I do send money into his account for the building of our house in Lafia. But when in July 2017 schools were on holiday, he suggested that their daughter, Joy, who is 10 years old should travel with him alongside Faith to Lafia as a way of changing environment, while he is busy supervising the ongoing work on the house (a four-bedroom flat and three-room boys quarters).”
According to her, that was when the devil struck, Read on as aggrieved hard working wife shared her story with Saturday Sun correspondents...
Mrs. Franca Joko, 43, hails from Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state. A 2005 HND holder in Business Management from the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, she met her husband, Emmanuel Joko, 46, and a 2005 HND holder in Accounting.
Mr. Joko, from Toto Local Government area of the state, and Franca, got married in December 2005, some months after graduation. Together, they joined the marketing department of the local branch of United Bank for Africa (UBA) but left after three years to set up and run their own business.
Resigning and raising the business capital
But today, after almost 13 years of marriage blessed with one child, a girl, the union had virtually hit the rock. In a tearful voice, Franca told Saturday Sun what happened. After resigning from UBA, she said:
“we put together our resources and I started the business of selling and supplying high quality wrappers to politicians, business executive officers, bankers, businessmen and women and civil servants. Through this connection, I started traveling to Dubai to buy expensive and high quality materials.
“I advised my husband who is not working to use proceeds from the business to buy a plot of land in Lafia and build a house. He bought into the idea and we were able to get a piece of land at the cost of N1m. From that moment, I started sending money into his account to start the building while I devoted myself to the business.
Marriage and the coming of housemaid

I got married to Emma because I was under pressure from my parents and friends who had gotten married early and when I met him in school, he seemed to me as a gentle and good man, meek, intelligent and caring. I was intrigued by his ingenuity. If we had dated long I would have discovered some of the characters he is exhibiting now.”
She told Saturday Sun that it was when they got married that she discovered that her husband had a tendency to be promiscous. He can sleep with anything in skirt, no matter how ugly and unappealing, she alleged.
But by the time she did, she was already eight-month pregnant for him. She was later delivered of a baby girl in February 2007.
She said while she endured life with Emma, providence smiled on her as the business began to flourish. It was in the course of this that she discovered she needed a house help to take care of her child and home while away.
She contacted her mother on this and she provided her with one of her (mother’s) younger sister’s daughters who is now about 18 years old. Faith by name, Franca said she completed her secondary education with them in Ado, Karu Local Government area of Nasarawa State where they reside.
Sowing the ‘seed’ of discord
“It never occurred to me that he would descend so low as to lure Faith my younger sister into having sex with him. But that was exactly what happened and between July and early September 2017 when they were in Lafia and I was in Dubai for a business trip, he turned this girl into his wife by having sex with her at will.
Eventually, she became pregnant. When I returned and Faith narrated to me what happened in Lafia and Emma got to know about it, that became the beginning of the end to our happiness.”
Things fall apart
Right from that moment, life has never been the same in the family, Franca said.

Any small thing I did, this man would beat me blue and black,” she alleged.
“He became so aggressive and threatened to stop the business I was doing, saying that it is the money I am getting from it that is making me to look down on him. He made a lot of attempts to stop the business but I strongly resisted him. Even when Faith told me she is pregnant for him, I asked him politely in the night to tell me what happened.
“Unknown to me, more troubles lay ahead for me. It is a miracle that I’m alive today. During the last trip I made to Dubai, I paid about N4 million into his account to furnish the house and fence it round. When I asked him about the Faith matter, he started beating me, hitting my head against the wall and punching my breast just because I asked a simple question.
He would say that at the rate the money is coming in he suspects that I’m into prostitution and that it is getting into my head. He said that he needed to stop me. On September 15, 2017, when I went to Port Harcourt on a business trip, he picked Faith and dropped his daughter with a neighbour on the day I told him I was coming back.”

Right now, they are living as husband and wife, Franca reported.

When I called him on phone, he told me to go about my business of prostitution as he has settled down with Faith who is pregnant for him. Since then he has never picked my calls up till now,” she lamented before adding that she has reported the matter to her parents and Emma’s.
“Both of them asked me to be calm and never call him any more. While confessing that such attitude is strange to them, they advised that we should all be patient to see what he wants to do. I have accepted it and I am waiting to see what he intends doing with my younger sister who is pregnant for him. My regret is that they are enjoying themselves with my hard-earned money.”

Husband speaks on why things are no longer at ease
Initial attempts to meet with Emma and hear his own side of the story proved abortive as he kept making and changing appointments till Friday November 3 when our correspondent met him and his new ‘wife’ at Lavista. One of the best eateries in Lafia, located around Nasarawa State Polytechnic.
Though he vehemently refused to have his photo taken, he confirmed that Franca was his legitimate wife, and that they met at the Federal Polytechnic as students and that he was instrumental to their brief stay in UBA as staff in the marketing department
“We raised together the capital of that business she is doing,” he said. “I have two cars in Abuja which I gave out as taxi and I get returns on them weekly. Yes, she gave me money to buy a plot of land and developed it from the proceeds she generated from the business. Though the land was bought in my name, I’m not claiming it solely because we have a daughter. The property is intact for her if she wants it.”
Asked about his sexual affair with Faith, he said,

Yes, this girl became pregnant courtesy of me but it was a mistake. But before I knew it, she had told all her friends and neighbours about it and I was mad.
We couldn’t manage the information because it was already in the public domain. As a result of it, the two of us became subject of discussion and I got angry and decided that the worst should happen.”

Still talking about Faith, he announced that
“she is in good and safe hands and I will own up to the responsibility of this pregnancy until she delivers. After all, she (meaning Franca) had just a baby girl for me.
So if she is not ready, she can go. She kept traveling from one place to another; we hardly had time to have sex and as a human being, that led me into taking that decision. I know it is bad but she didn’t allow us to manage it internally and the manner she went about it made it difficult for us to think about abortion.

Her property is intact for her. I have not taken it and will not take it. I’m waiting to hear from her parents. I won’t go there until Faith delivers in April next year.” Speaking briefly, Faith said: “I go by what he said.”

Four-Year-Old Migrant Arrives Spain In Separate Boat, Reunites With Mum After Seven M

Four-Year-Old Migrant Arrives Spain In Separate Boat, Reunites With Mum After Seven Months
[Image: Refugee-boat-Aegean.jpg]
A four-year-old migrant boy who reached Spain from Ivory Coast was reunited today with his mother seven months after she arrived on a different boat, a women’s charity said.

Bahoumou Totopa, 33, arrived on Spain’s southern coast on an inflatable dinghy in April, while her son, Abdurrahmane, entered the country’s North African enclave of Melilla the previous month with his aunt.

Totopa was not allowed to contact her son, who was taken in by child protection services in Melilla, until she could prove she was his mother, legal NGO Women’s Link said.

After a positive DNA test, Totopa was able to pick up her son in Melilla and take him to Jerez de la Frontera, where she is living in a migrant reception centre, Women’s Link said.

After several failed attempts to persuade Spanish authorities to let Totopa contact her son, Women’s Link turned to the European Court of Human Rights.

The Strasbourg-based court on October 19 urged Spain “to adopt any kind of interim measures (e.g. visits, contact by phone, etc.) pending the DNA test results.”

“I need my son, it’s not at all easy for a child to be snatched like this from his mother,” Totopa said in a video released in October by the charity.

Over 1,600 children, almost half of them Syrians, arrived in Spain illegally in 2016, according to UN figures — about 12 percent of the total number of migrants who arrived in Spain last year.

Human rights groups regularly criticise the treatment given to migrants who arrive in Melilla and Ceuta, another tiny Spanish territory in North Africa, which have the European Union’s only land borders with Africa.

  Presidency Reverses Okoi Obono-Obla's Suspension
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-14-2017, 12:10 PM - No Replies

A week after being suspended from his post as Chairman of Special Investigation Panel on Recovery of Public Property, the Presidency has restored him to the post but with some changes to his operational guidelines.
The restoration of Obono-Obla, who is also Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Prosecution, to his post, followed last week’s meeting between him and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo a day after he was suspended by Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.
A top Presidential official confirmed to Vanguard last night that Buhari’s intervention and restoration of Obono-Obla to his post followed the explanations by Osinbajo after getting briefings from the presidential aide.
Obono-Obla to act on cases referred to him by Presidency, AGF
The source, however, said Obono-Obla would, henceforth, operate under the shadow of the Vice President, who would supervise the work of the Special Investigation Panel on the Recovery of Public Property.
Other conditions, which Obono-Obla must adhere strictly with, include: taking directives from the Presidency or the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, working strictly on directives or cases referred to him by the Presidency or the AGF and not embarking on ‘expansionist’ search for materials to use under the guise of recovery of public property.
“For Obono-Obla to operate effectively, he must bear in mind that he cannot go outside the scope of what is given to him either by the Presidency or the AGF and must abide by recovery issues referred to him by the two offices,” the source explained.
Asked whether he was sacked or suspended in the first place and what the offence was, the Presidency official, said: “I can confirm to you that Obono-Obla has not been sacked. The only thing that must be made clear to him is that he should not assume to be operating on his own but to subject himself to the directives of the AGF of the Presidency on whatever recovery he wants to embark on.”
It will be recalled that when Malami suspended Obono-Obla from his post last Sunday, he had accused him of running the presidential panel contrary to the Act establishing it.
Obono-Obla was notified of his suspension via a letter dated November 1 with file number, which was signed by the AGF.
In the letter marked HAGF/SH/2017/VOL/1/60, Malami maintained that activities of the panel contravened established administrative procedures and protocols in the nation’s civil service structure.
He warned Obono-Obla to strictly comply with FG’s directive that he should hands-off from further presiding over any activity in the name of the panel.
Obono-Obla was also barred from further granting press interviews without firstly securing permission to speak on any official matter.
Malami’s letter said, “Obla is also instructed to henceforth seek clearance from the AGF before granting any media interview or making press releases on official matters, while he is directed to promptly provide a detailed up-to-date report on the activities of the panel to the Minister for onward transmission to the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.
The letter entitled, ‘RE: Directive In Respect of Chief Okoi Obono-Obla, Chairman of the Special Investigation Panel on the recovery of public property’, was said to be a follow-up to a previous letter from the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN.
According to the statement, Malami’s letter to Obono-Obla read: “I have received a letter Ref. SH/OVP/DCOS/FMJ/0424 dated 20thOctober, 2017 in respect of the above subject from the Office of the Vice President.
“In the said letter, the Vice President expressed his concerns on the activities of the Special Investigation Panel on the Recovery of Public Property which runs contrary to the enabling Act establishing it. He also noted that the activities of the Panel run foul or contrary to established administrative procedures and protocols in the Federal Civil Service structure.
“In view of the foregoing coupled with the directives contained in the letter under reference, you are hereby directed to refrain from any further action or taking any step in your capacity as the Chairman of the Special Investigation Panel on the Recovery of Public Property with immediate effect until directed otherwise by His Excellency, the Vice President.
“While you are to await further instructions in respect of the Panel’s mandate, you are hereby directed to promptly provide a detailed up-to-date report on the activities of the Panel to the undersigned for onward transmission to the Vice President.
“Furthermore, you are required to henceforth seek clearance from the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice before granting any media interview or making press releases on official matters.

I Used To Take Codeine, Other Hard Drugs. I Couldn’t Boast Of N1M In 2016” - Toyin Abraham
[Image: Toyin%2BABRAHAM.jpg]
Actress, Toyin Abraham, has talked about her past, and she has opened up on how she abused hard drugs like marijuana and codeine.

The actress made the disclosure at the 2017 edition of Success Story Africa, held at the TLC Auditorium, Lagos, on Sunday.

You need to stop bad habits. I was involved in a lot of vices and it became worse last year,” she said at the event.

“I did drugs and I am not ashamed to say it because it’s now a thing of the past. They say codeine makes you high; I took a lot. I smoked a lot and I didn’t even know I looked horrible, because I was so skinny.

“If you came to my house last year, you would meet a lot of people and you won't want to leave because we smoked, gossiped about people and what have you.”

The actress also revealed that she once hawked plantain chips to help feed her family.

She said growing up was not easy for her because her family was not financially buoyant, although things worked out for them because they worked hard and were “spiritually buoyant”.

She also talked about the mistakes she has made in the entertainment industry and how she has not let the negativity shape her.

“I made a lot of mistakes when i began acting and that was because i did not have plans. I just wanted to be known.

“But, I now know that being popular isn’t the same thing as being successful. When I got into the industry and the fame became too much, I became irresponsible.

“I could not boast of N1 million in 2016. I was making money and I wanted to feel among. When one of our colleagues bought a car, it was trouble because we all strove to buy the same car or a bigger one.

“I had to change my circle for good and this change started in March 2017.

Previously called Toyin Aimakhu, the actress changed her name to Toyin Abraham in December 2016.

The well-attended event also featured inspiring speeches by ace comedian, Bovi Ugboma; and Commissioner for Information, Ogun State, Dayo Adeneye, among other speakers.

Republicans Confident Of Passing House Tax Bill: Kevin Brady
[Image: brady.jpg]
The U.S. House of Representatives Republican leadership is confident it has the votes to pass a tax overhaul bill when it comes to the House floor later this week, the chairman of the tax-writing Ways and Means committee, Representative Kevin Brady, said Monday.

Rep. Kevin Patrick Brady (R-TX) arrives for a House Ways and Means Committee markup of the Republican Tax Reform legislation on Capitol Hill in Washington, U.S., November 9, 2017.

Debate will begin on Thursday, Brady, a Republican, told reporters in a Capitol hallway. “Leadership believes, is very confident, that ... we do and will have the votes for passage.”

Brady said including a repeal of the Obamacare individual healthcare mandate in the tax bill “remains under consideration.” He said he had pledged to House members to keep in the bill a deduction for state and local property taxes, up to $10,000.

'Tithes, Offering Cannot Buy Private Jets' - Lagos Pastor, Blessing Agboli, Says
[Image: PASTOR%2BbLESSING%2BAgboli.jpg]
Following the tithe saga, wife of the General Overseer of The Victorious Army Ministries International in Lagos, Pastor (Mrs.) Blessing Agboli, has refuted claims that most church leaders with private jets acquired them using the tithes and offerings gathered from their congregants.
Speaking at a press conference in Lagos, Pastor Agboli said private jets are so expensive that no amount of tithes and offering can buy them.

Offerings cannot buy private jets. You cannot just park a jet without making a business out of it. Owning a private jet is not a sin and those who have them should never be apologetic. I don’t think offerings can buy jets. I don’t think pastors also should apologize for making and spending money. That we are pastors does not mean we should be poor.’’ she said.

We Don’t Want Ikoyi Whistle-blower To Run Mad – Sagay
[Image: sagay.jpg]
The Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), says the Federal Government does not want the whistle-blower who informed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of the N13bn in an Ikoyi apartment to run mad.

Sagay said the government believed he needed to be adequately counselled and this was the reason his commission was delayed

The senior advocate said this during an interview with our correspondent on Monday.

Sagay said if the commission, which the whistle-blower claims is N860m, was given to him immediately; he probably would have squandered it within a month or two.

Sagay said, “What I gathered from my inquiry is that the man is not sufficiently stable to receive such a huge sum of money. He is like someone who will almost run mental when he gets the money and will use it in an irresponsible manner, attracting not only undesirable people but even danger to himself.

“I think what they wanted to do for him was to provide counsellors. Not just counsellors for character and mental situation but counsellors who would be like consultants that would help him to really invest the money and plan in such a way that he doesn’t throw it away in five minutes.

“They are trying to help him. Nobody is denying him anything. They are trying to help him but he just misunderstands the intention and like everyone that has been deprived for a long time, he is so desperate to have it but from what I can see, if they just give him everything, it won’t last more than a month or two because so many people will start finding ways to get to him and taking their portions from him. So, they were just trying to help him but he became hysterical.”

Sagay hailed the Federal Government’s decision to pay the whistle-blower in tranches, adding that such a method of payment would deter him from spending it all at once.

The PACAC chairman said it was also the responsibility of the government to ensure that the whistleblower did not become a nuisance.

He added, “It is better to pay him in tranches. I agree with the government because if not, he will throw it away. This is valuable money that government could have used for millions of unemployed and wretchedly poor people.

“One man is getting it and he just wants it so that he can blow it all in five minutes? No, the government has a responsibility to see that his excitement does not end in seeing the money being thrown away irresponsibly. So, I agree with the government.”

The lawyer of the whistle-blower, Yakubu Galadima, however, said the government’s intentions were suspect.

Galadima wondered why the government did not question his client’s mental capacity when he was giving the EFCC information on the money.

The lawyer said even if his client was mental, he still deserved to be given his due.

He said, “As far as I am concerned, if the money is not paid by the end of this month, I am ready to tell the whole world but if they act favourably, their image will be redeemed.

“Does Prof. Sagay have contact with my client? Doesn’t my client have relatives that can take care of him? Even a mad man is entitled to his estate so what are they talking about? That is not an excuse as far as I am concerned.”

Nigerian ‘Policeman’ Robs, Stabs Commuter, Leaves ID Card At Scene
[Image: Lagos%2B%25E2%2580%2598policeman%25E2%25...Bscene.png]
Highway robberies  may have taken a turn for the worse after a police sergeant, Williams Godwin, was allegedly involved in the robbery of a commuter identified only as Henry.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the 41-year-old victim was on his way to work when he joined a cab along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway EN route to Lagos Island.
He was said to have been attacked at gunpoint, as the assailants, which included Godwin, allegedly dispossessed him of his ATM card and N4,000.
However, during the incident, the policeman’s ID card allegedly fell into the luggage of the victim, who was rushed to the Lagos State Accident and Emergency Centre at Toll gate, Ojota, where he was admitted and treated.
One of those who rescued Henry told PUNCH Metro that he was stabbed with a sharp object in the back.
He said,

“The incident happened on Wednesday, October 18, 2017. The man was going to work on the Lagos Island when he boarded the private car. Along the way, they pointed a gun at him and took his ATM card and the N4,000 in his bag. While the policeman was ransacking the man’s luggage, his ID card fell into the man’s bag. They stabbed him with a sharp object and dropped him off.”
A worker, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said incidents of car robberies, aka One Chance, had become regular in the area.
She said passersby and sympathisers, who sighted victims of such attacks, sometime called the emergency toll-free lines through which the centre got notifications.
She said,

“Yes, the man was brought here. I think he’s about 41-year-old. He said he boarded a private car, which he thought was a cab. He was seriously injured and we had to treat him. He had the ID card of the policeman that he claimed was among those that attacked him.”
Our correspondent gathered that Henry took away the original ID card of the policeman.
PUNCH Metro visited Henry’s residence in the Ogba, Agege area to speak with him on his encounter with the bandits.
The house gate was locked, but a resident later showed up.
The resident, who confirmed the attack, said Henry had decided not to talk about it.

Buhari: State Of Nigeria's Education Worrisome, Calls For Serious Concern

•N1tr needed yearly to revive sector – Minister
President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday decried the state of education in the country saying it “calls for a serious concern.”
He listed the effects of decades of neglect suffered by the sector to include an estimated 13.2 million children out of school, high illiteracy level, infrastructural deficit and decay as well as unqualified teachers and inadequate instructional materials.
President Buhari spoke at the Old Banquet Hall of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja during a special retreat of the Federal Executive Council themed: “Education in Nigeria: Challenges and Prospects.”
According to him, it is no longer a secret that the quality of education in Nigeria requires greater attention and improvement, adding that it is common knowledge that the nation is facing numerous challenges in education and other sectors as a result of historical abuses, mindless impunity and corruption.
The president declared that Nigeria must give better attention to the sector, noting that the nation cannot progress beyond the level and standard of its education.
“We must get it right in this country. To get it right means setting our education sector on the right path,” he said.
The president said Nigerians should also “bear in mind that the security and stability of the country hinges, to a large extent, on its ability to provide functional education to its citizens.”
He said his administration was determined to turn around the sector for the better, stating that “We are already making appreciable progress in this respect. This will be part of our deliberate policy of revitalizing education provisioning and capacity building,” he said.
The president added: “Today, it is those who acquire the most qualitative education, equipped with requisite skills and training, and empowered with practical knowhow that are leading the rest. We cannot afford to continue lagging behind. Education is our launch-pad to a more successful, more productive and more prosperous future.
“One of the primary roles of education is to build and sustain individual and society’s development. It renews and improves the economic, social, political and cultural aspects of any nation. Education upgrades the living standard of citizens and enables people to become better and more productive citizens. It is a human right that creates a safe, healthy and prosperous society. It changes the visions and perspectives of individuals, enhances critical decisions and improves democracy. Indeed education is paramount and necessary requirement for all-round development.
“Nigeria’s participation in all relevant international education fora together with our investment in education and collaboration with development partners is an indication of high level of commitment towards ensuring that every capable Nigerian receives good quality education. These efforts are justifiable only to the extent that schooling is effective in promoting the realization of national objectives, attaining the Sustainable Development Goals and Education For All by 2030.These targets are, happily, in harmony with the manifesto and the CHANGE agenda of our Party, the All Progressive Congress. It is also in agreement with my campaign promises during the 2015 elections exercise and in pursuit of the yearnings and aspirations of the generality of Nigerian citizens.”
While charging the summit to work to enhance quality in, and access to, higher education and other challenges in the sector that could debar Nigeria from attaining the SDGs and be among the top 20 economies in the world, the president said the government would come up with feasible, implementable and far-reaching action to make education drive national prosperity and development.
In a reference to the on-going primary school reforms in Kaduna State, President Buhari described a situation where those engaged for teaching could not pass their own examinations as very serious and tragic.
‘It is tragic teachers can’t pass exams for their pupils’
Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai had in October announced plans to sack about 22,000 primary school teachers who failed a competency test.
Buhari stated: “To digress a little bit so that you know that I meant what I read, having been an orphan, I still feel that whatever I did in life so far was built by boarding schools. For nine years, I was in boarding school, three in primary and six in secondary school.
“In those days, teachers treat their students or children like their own children. If you did well, they would tell you (that) you did well; if you didn’t do well, they never spared the rod. When I finished my secondary school, I didn’t work for a day, I refused to work for a day, I left home, I refused to work in the local government, and then I joined the army. And the army of that time, we went through all we went through upto the civil war.
“And then, I listened to one of the Nigerians I respect, he said after his training here in Nigeria and the United States, he went to his alma mater, his primary school, to see what he could contribute. I won’t mention his name, but when he went, he couldn’t differentiate between the students, the children and the teachers.
“And what el-Rufai is trying to do now is exactly what that man told me about 10 years ago. It is a very, very serious situation when teachers cannot pass their exams that they are supposed to teach the children to pass. It is a very tragic situation we are in and this our gathering together, to me, is one of the most important in this administration.”
N1trn needed annually revive sector - Minister
Earlier, Education Minister Adamu Adamu urged improved funding for the sector, saying that it would take Buhari’s administration N1trillion annually for the next four years to fulfil its 13 campaign promises on education.
“Unfortunately, from 1999 to date, the annual budgetary allocation to education has always been between four per cent and 10 per cent,’’ Adamu said, adding that none of the E9 or D8 countries other than Nigeria allocates less than 20 per cent of its annual budget to education.
He also called for the declaration of a state of emergency in education, arguing that “if we get education right, other areas of our national life will be right and they will fall in line’’.
“What is needed is vastly improved funding accompanied by a strong political will. The strong political will needed to do all this is present in this government. What this government must now do is to make the funds available.
“Nobody has the moral and resource capacity to intervene promptly, substantially and sustainably in all areas of education provisioning better than the government,” he said.
He lamented that even in sub-Saharan Africa, Nigeria remains far behind smaller and less endowed nations in investment in education.
While suggesting ways of eliminating mediocrity in the sector, the minister said: “If we give regulatory agencies the teeth to bite and do their work, mediocre teachers will soon disappear from our classrooms. If we insist on professionalism with appropriate deadlines set for those who teach, the situation will improve phenomenally.”
He said Nigeria’s education system would improve if automatic scholarship is offered to students who take education as well as automatic employment and preferential compensation package to those who take to teaching as a profession.
The minister stressed the need to harmonize the learning and teaching in tertiary institutions as well as redefine national goals periodically.

Biafra: Keyamo mocks IPOB over Nnamdi Kanu’s sack

Human rights activist and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Festus Keyamo has taunted the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, over its announcement that it had sacked Nnamdi Kanu as director of Radio Biafra.

Keyamo wondered why IPOB, who had alleged that Kanu was killed by Nigerian army, was still announcing his removal ‘in the grave’.

DAILY POST reports that Radio Biafra upon resumption on Monday announced through one Ifeoma Okorafor that the radio was restructuring.
She announced that, “Mazi Nnamdi Nwanekaenyi Kanu, the former Director of Radio Biafra is hereby dismissed and removed as Director of Radio Biafra following extensive and intensive consultations”

“Kanu’s actions and his decisions to incite members of IPOB towards violence leading to the death of many innocent young people in Onitsha, Aba and Umuahia is totally unacceptable and grossly irresponsible.

“Kanu privately collected £14 million and another $22 million to purchase landed properties abroad in his name and that of his father, Igwe Israel Kanu, in a clear case of ‘monkey dey work baboon dey chop’.”
Reacting, however, Keyamo rhetorically asked if Biafra was now a zoo.
He tweeted, “So, after IPOB earlier claimed the Army killed Kanu, did they wake him from d grave to ask him questions over allegations against him before sacking him as their leader? Or did they sack him without hearing from him? Would that not be the style of animals in a zoo? Is Biafra now a zoo?”[Image: keyamo.jpg]

UCH shuts as security men, cleaners protest over 11-month unpaid salaries

Patients, doctors, nurses and other staff of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Monday morning were stranded for several hours when security men and cleaners working in the hospital locked the gates to the premises of the hospital to protest non-payment of their 11-month salaries.
The protesting workers blocked all entrances of the hospital during the action that lasted for over two hours Monday morning.

This made patients, their relatives and other staff of the hospital to experience difficulty in gaining entry into the hospital premises.
The development also led to heavy traffic at both ends of the hospital as a result of the build up of vehicles at the gates.
Our correspondent learnt that both roads became impassable with hundreds of other road users, including workers heading for the state secretariat nearby, trapped as at 7.am. Many patients who had early appointments at the hospital lamented the situation.
Some of the protesting workers accused the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Prof Temitope Alonge, of deliberately withholding the funds meant for their salaries.

They said, “We have endured for 11 months without salaries. Can the CMD endure a month without salary? But we are considered lowly in the ranks of staff of the hospital so our money can wait. We are vulnerable too because we hardly have any voice in the day-to-day running of the hospital.
“However, we are responsible for their security and hygiene. We open and lock the gates, clean the toilets and the wards. When they sleep at home, we look over the security of the hospital at night, daring the danger. But that is what we agreed to do when we applied, so there is no problem with that.
“Our line of work is difficult but highly important to the hospital. We deserve better than what we get. We call on the Federal Government to prevail on the hospital management to have pity on us”.
But DAILY POST learnt that the CMD had earlier explained to the striking workers that their salaries were not paid directly by the hospital but through an agency which the FG contracted the two departments to.

It was learnt that Alonge promised to pay one month salary to the workers from the hospital’s Internally Generated Revenue while efforts would be made to ensure speedy payment by the agency involved.
But the Public Relations Officer of the hospital, Deji Bobade when asked to give a true picture of the incident said he was on casual leave and could not give details of what transpired .
Bobade who said he was in the meeting in a short conversation with DAILY POST noted that he will not comment on the strike since he was on casual leave.

Anti-grazing law a time bomb, says Miyetti Allah

The Fulani socio-cultural association has described as a time bomb the anti grazing law, which it said is an attempt to destroy herders’ means of livelihood.
Arising from the North West zonal meeting of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore held in Kaduna yesterday, the National President of the Association, Alhaji Abdullahi Bello Bodejo and the National Secretary, Sale Alhassan, who jointly addressed newsmen, said the anti grazing law is not in the best interest of peaceful coexistence and the need to urgently address the issue cannot be over-emphasized.
“The grazing law agenda is destroying herders’ means of livelihood and we are appealing for immediate intervention to safe the Fulani pastoralist from the total destruction of their means of livelihood by current trends from some state governors enacting segregational anti grazing law which targets, primarily, the economic livelihood of the herders.”
The President however debunked insinuations that there are plans by the herders to attack Benue communities, stressing that Fulani are peaceful and law abiding citizens who will not do anything that will truncate peaceful coexistence.
It called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, to provide security for the Fulani herdsmen, particularly those in Benue and Taraba states who are currently facing all forms of threat.
According to the national leaders: “At the end of the north west meeting, after series of deliberations, we are completely opposed to the anti grazing law, and we are worried on the possible crisis that may erupt if such laws are allowed to take effect.
“it is a negative law because it attempts to expel Fulani herdsmen from their grazing areas for ages, besides, that of Benue anti grazing law, no herder were involved in the cause of its preparation to get their input. To us, ensuring security of citizens should be the priority of governance, but this anti grazing law is nothing but a time bomb if not addressed with wisdom.
“It is a national challenge that requires a national interventions by well meaning government, because it is capable of creating serious conflicts on the land resources, hence developing a policy of sustainable management of land resources is of essence. ‘’

Group seeks support for Secondus as PDP chair

A group under the aegis of Genuine Democrats Group (GDG), a youth wing of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has urged supports for the emergence of the party’s former National Deputy Chairman (South), Uche Secondus, as the National Chairman in the forthcoming December convention.
The group, in a release yesterday, said it is campaigning for Secondus because “he has a reputation that continues to soar above his peers in the build up to the National Chairmanship office of the nation’s most popular and major opposition party.”
The release signed Yisa Gbegudu, the group’s Publicity Secretary, stated, “Prince Secondus, by nature, is a person who does and gets things done by merit, the same way he wants Nigerians and members of the party to note that the position of National Chairman was zoned to the Southern region comprising of three zones, and that he has the legitimate and legal rights to aspire for the office.
“As a democrat to the core, Secondus emphasizes liberal disposition and says to whoever cares to listen, putting it clearly on records, that since the launching of his chairmanship ambition, he has been reaching out to delegates across the 36 states, seeking votes and presenting his agenda for revival of the party ahead of 2019.”
The group also stated that there was no plan to impose Secondus on the party “because no member of Board of Trustees has openly endorsed him as some have done for some other candidates.”
GDG affirmed that Southwest seems unprepared for the party’s leadership and that “it should go to South-South, the main base of the PDP and where Secondus hails from. He has been campaigning day and night across the six zones, selling our redemption messages to PDP delegates, urging all aspirants to get ready for the convention and stop games of distractions.
“For him, there’s no magic about it than for delegates to assemble and cast their votes for an aspirant of their choice in the full glare of the public. And he believes in the prospects of his pedigree. Secondus is bold and alongside his great blueprint to return the PDP to power in 2019. With him, the forthcoming convention a great opportunity for the party to complete the redemption it started at the Port Harcourt mini convention. It’s very important that the PDP elects genuine and committed party members into the upcoming National Working Committee in the best interest of the party and Nigerian democracy. It is for this need that we urge delegates to support Secondus.

Nigeria Recovers $65m Electricity Debt Owed By Niger, Benin Republics

Abuja — Nigeria has made some significant progress in its attempt to recover millions of dollars owed her electricity industry by two of her West African neighbours, Benin and Niger Republics, for electricity supplied to them, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, has disclosed.
Fashola stated on Monday at the 21st edition of the monthly power sector operators in Asaba that the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc. (NBET) has recovered $64.6 million out of about $115.91 million owed operators in the country's power market by both countries.
He noted that disbursements of the recovered funds to beneficiaries by NBET would commence shortly, adding that eligible beneficiaries would be paid their monies.
"To those of you businessmen, I have good news for you. We have recovered payments from power that we sold to Benin and Niger Republics. People wonder why we sell power to them but it is a product of treaties and agreements and they also help our own economy.
"So, we have a total of $64.630,055.00 that had been recovered, and NBET will work out the modalities for its distribution and hopefully by next month you should be able to report that you have received alert," said Fashola, in his opening remarks at the meeting.

Government loses N300b to National Theatre decay
User Avatar Forum: Politics

Culture edifice in darkness over N20m electricity debt
For the most part of 30 years in which Nigeria’s foremost culture edifice, National Theatre, has been in comatose, government has lost over N300 billion.
The 5,000-capacity main bowl has not been put to use since 1992 due to structural errors. The other halls run skeletal services at best, with most of them as non-cultural or artistic events. Organisers of artistic events have since shifted to other well-maintained venues.
The government has continued to incur overhead costs in terms of salaries of staff of both the National Troupe of Nigeria and the National Theatre. “A source close to the operations at the facility put the overhead expenses on the National Theatre within the last one year (although not regular) at N18 million monthly, and N4 million for National Troupe of Nigeria. This has, however, stopped to be regular in the last two years, but whenever it comes, the two establishments get that much,” the source disclosed.
In spite of the monthly allocations and monies collected from the few event organisers and patrons, the edifice has been in total darkness for most part of 2017. It is currently experiencing a blackout because it owes N20 million electricity supply debts.
Notable filmmaker, Chief Eddie Ugbomah, has accused managers of the theatre of incompetence for running down the prime venue where he screened his celluloid films alongside Chief Herbert Ogunde and Dr. Ola Balogun in the 1980s and early 1990s.
The main bowl, Ugbomah disclosed, has lost close to N90 billion in about 30 years while the other halls also lost another N200 billion in 18 years. He based his estimates on what he and the late Yoruba film doyen, Ogunde, and Balogun, used to rake in at most weekends for showing their celluloid films. He said while Ogunde, whose Yoruba language films were very popular, made about N5 million most weekends, he (Ugbomah) made about N3 million with his English films like The Death of a Black President, Oyenusi and Black Gold.
Ugbomah noted that the theatre has more halls than any event centre in the country and if well managed, revenues from them could be used to sustain it with reserves sent to government’s coffers.
“There is the exhibition hall, two cinema halls, the banquet hall, the VIP hall, and the 5,000-seater main bowl,” Ugbomah said. “No other venue in Nigeria has this capacity. The main bowl also has a revolving stage, which is rare to come by in most event centres, and this stage has not been used in the past 30 years. Imagine how much money government would be making if 5,000 people pay at least N500 to watch a film or play that would be shown thrice or four times a day?”
Another filmmaker and first president of National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP), Mr. Mahmoud Ali-Balogun (producer of Tangle with Me), spoke in agreement with Ugbomah, but said the financial loss at the National Theatre was unquantifiable given the resurgence in the cinema-going tradition in the past few years in the country.
Mo Abudu’s The Wedding Party grossed N200 million in just 16 days of four weekends in box office earnings in cinema halls that seat only 100 people at a time. Also, AY’s (Ayo Makun) A Trip to Jamaica earned N168 million in less than four weekends. The two cinema halls at the National Theatre seat well over 500 people each at the same time, the exhibition hall well over 800 people.
Ali-Balogun spoke further: “Earnings from cinemas are just one aspect of what can be done with the National Theatre. If you look at what is being done at Terra Kulture, FilmOne House, Silverbird Galleria, and Genesis in terms of raising revenues, I will say National Theatre’s loss is too much, too unquantifiable, and it’s a shame. The National Theatre is like a cultural headquarters. It is a place where you can have exhibitions like fine arts, film shows like cinemas, plays performed and corporate AGMs. Do you know the kind of affinity artists have for that place? But it’s being left fallow right now. It’s just unfortunate. I believe that things have to change. What is responsible for this I don’t know, but I know government is making efforts to make it work.”
Ali-Balogun who said he was not pointing fingers, insisted that something was wrong somewhere: “Why are our national monuments so cursed in terms of functionality? Look at the National Stadiums in Lagos and Abuja, It’s unfortunate. I can’t put a finger to what the exact losses are, but it is huge. It’s not just revenue loss, but employment. When the place is functioning, it’s not just the ministry people I’m talking about. I’m talking about all categories of artists, who should be working there; it was our workplace in those days.”
The General Manager of Terra Kulture, Mr. Joseph Umoibom, noted a lot of cultural events like the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), held last Sunday, could have been staged at the theatre but for its poor management. Eko Hotel hosted AFRIMA instead. Terra Kulture Arena Theatre, which opened as an interventionist theatre space last year, was largely in response to the National Theatre’s continuing failing as Nigeria’s cultural hotspot.
“Eko Hotel charges N8million to N10 million a day,” Umoibom noted. “Even if National Theatre is a little cheaper, it can’t charge less than N5 million per day. In other words, the National Theatre can’t make less than N20 million on a weekend. A lot of other earnings can be made on the sides from food vending around the theatre and the car park. So, you really can’t quantify what is being lost at the theatre. People are being paid for doing nothing in that place, when they are sitting on money.”

Nigeria: Govt Plans N1 Billion Support to Fight HIV and Aids Through NHIs
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-14-2017, 08:48 AM - No Replies

The Federal Government said on Monday that it would support the fight against HIV and AIDS programmes through the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in 2018.
The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, said this at the opening of a two-day Nigeria HIV and AIDS intervention symposium in Abuja.
Adewole said that the support had become important because of the prevalence of the epidemic in the country and the world at large.
He explained that in 2016, the UNAIDS report had revealed that 36.7 people live with HIV and AIDS globally, out of which Nigeria contributed 10 percent of this burden.
According to him, out of every 10 HIV positive persons in the world is a Nigerian.
"President Muhammadu Buhari's administration is poised to reverse this ugly trend by making prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV infection one of the signatory projects in the health sector.
"I am making this pledge that the Nigerian leadership is committed to supporting all interventions that will ensure sustainable reduction of new HIV and AIDS infections in Nigeria.
"Nigerian's HIV and AIDS response plan has equally benefitted from increased government funding.
"Furthermore, an additional one billion naira has been approved by the National Assembly through National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), to support the HIV and AIDS programme in the country," he said.
The minister said that an estimated 3.2 million people live with HIV and AIDS in Nigeria, which ranked only behind South Africa.
He said that although no fewer than one million Nigerians presently had means to anti-retroviral treatment, access to care by those in need remained a challenge.
The health boss advised the participants to imbibe sustainable HIV and AIDS control programmes as well as increase health care service delivery services to achieve meaningful growth.
He also called for proper data management on the number of persons with HIV to encourage strategic planning, realisation of fights against the epidemic and also reduce gaps in the national health sector response.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event which attracted stakeholders across the country featured discussion on challenges and way forward for preventive strategies on HIV and AIDS

Expert - 5 Million People Die of Diabetes Annually Member 

Bauchi — Diabetes has been described as one of the most deadly diseases in the world that claims lives frequently more than other epidemics like the Human Immune Deficiency Virus (HIV), malaria, tuberculosis etc, as about five million patients in the world die of the disease annually.
A guest speaker at the National Diabetes Workshop organised by the Diabetes Association of Nigeria (DAN) in collaboration with the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation (OOF) as part of events marking this year's World Diabetes Day, Prof. Bakari Adamu Girei, disclosed Monday during the opening ceremony of the programme held at Nicon Luxury Hotels, Abuja.
Girei, who lamented that diabetes in Nigeria is an unrecognised national epidemic despite the increase in its prevalence, said poor control of the disease could lead to acute complication, eye complication, foot amputation, kidney disease, heart attack and stroke among other problems.
According to him, diabetes is categorised into four -- 1, 2, 3 and 4 -- that affect children, adults, pregnant women and the one which is being caused by other diseases respectively, pointing out that there is no better treatment for the disease than frequent taking of medication according to prescription and eating the right food.
He however decried the use of herbal remedies by some diabetics, claiming that many of such medicines have not undergone careful scientific assessment.

Alleged assassination:Wike was 400meters away from scene – Rivers Police Commissioner
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-14-2017, 08:27 AM - No Replies

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Zaki has said the incident that occurred between the convoys of Governor Nyesom Wike and the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi was a mere traffic infraction.
CP Zaki, however, said contrary to widespread reports, there was no assassination attempt on the life of any of the political bigwigs.
The Rivers Police boss at a media briefing in Port Harcourt said investigation revealed that Governor Wike’s convoy was four hundred meters away from the point of the incident, adding that the Minister of Transportation had left the scene before the eventual arrival of the Governor.
CP Zaki said, “For purposes of putting the records straight and in view of the public outcry in the Media which greeted these claims, I hereby make the following clarifications;
“That on 11/11/2017 at about 1500hrs at Nkpogu junction, while the Hon. Minister of Transportation was passing through Elekahia to Nkpogu and at Nkpogu roundabout, a Police outrider in the convoy of His Excellency intercepted the Black Lexus 750 Jeep the Minister was driving just, as it was about negotiating the roundabout. The outrider was there to make way for the on coming convoy of His Excellency which was about 400 metres away.
“Police Investigation report revealed that two of the Minister’s convoy vehicles were already ahead of him while he was intercepted and stopped by the outrider.
“It is not known how the outrider fell off his Bike as dent marks on the Lexus 750 Jeep were seen on the passenger’s side of the car.
“A rowdy situation now followed with the Minister ferried by Security Agents away from the scene of the incident.
“At this point, the Governor’s convoy was not within reach to the scene of this incident.
“The Governor’s convoy eventually arrived the scene without the presence of the Hon. Minister.
“Questions were thereafter asked by the Governor’s entourage as to what happened while the last lap of Policemen from the Minister’s convoy where questioned by the CSO to the Governor as to their presence at that location and material time.
“I am aware that some altercations did occur around the scene of the incident. I wish to stress here that, the lives of the two dignitaries were not threatened as a result of this minor traffic incident.
“It is of note that, the meeting of the two convoys at that point was coincidental and has no semblance of threat to life or intention to eliminate any person.
“The Governor later proceeded to carry out a routine road inspection within the State, while the Minister attended the function that brought him to Port Harcourt.
“I want to make this abundantly clear that all acts touching on misconduct by any Policemen in the course of this incident will be thoroughly Investigated and appropriate disciplinary action taken against any person found wanting.”

Nnamdi Kanu sacked as IPOB leader, Director of Radio Biafra
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-14-2017, 08:21 AM - No Replies

The international media arm of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Radio Biafra, has resumed operations.
But instead of the fiery rhetoric with which it was associated with, the radio announced the sack of Nnamdi Kanu, as director and leader of IPOB.
The Radio Biafra’s programme started between 6am -7am on Sunday with the lady announcer, who gave her name as Ifeoma Okorafor, stating that the radio was restructuring.
Then the shocking announcement that “Mazi Nnamdi Nwanekaenyi Kanu, the former Director of Radio Biafra is hereby dismissed and removed as Director of Radio Biafra following extensive and intensive consultations”
According to Okorafor, one “Mazi Ezenwachukwu Sampson Okwudili is Kanu’s replacement.”
She reeled out reasons why Kanu was removed to include: “Personalisation of the Biafran struggle and derailing from the core objectives of IPOB as a grassroots movement.
“Kanu’s actions and his decisions to incite members of IPOB towards violence leading to the death of many innocent young people in Onitsha, Aba and Umuahia is totally unacceptable and grossly irresponsible.
“Kanu privately collected £14 million and another $22 million to purchase landed properties abroad in his name and that of his father, Igwe Israel Kanu, in a clear case of ‘monkey dey work baboon dey chop’.
“Kanu turned our collective struggle into a money-making enterprise for himself and his father. Thus the monies contributed by enterprising and hard-working Igbo youths across the world are being collected and converted by one man and his father while pretending to be sacrificing for the cause.
“Upon his release from detention in April 2017, one expected Kanu to drum up support for the release of his colleagues and co-detainees such as Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi. These are our brothers who were arrested at the same time with him and they should not be forgotten. We hereby demand their release. Kanu, since his release, has never spoken about them or appealed for the release of these our freedom fighters. Instead, he has been going about collecting chieftaincy titles and having a messianic swagger that even allowed full-blooded Igbo men to kneel down and kiss his feet.
“Kanu threw away the original meaning of our collective struggle for personal gain and vain glorification. IPOB believes in democracy as a solid base of any modern state, the rule of law, and will always reject violence in all its ramifications.”
Daily Independent Newspaper reports that there was a mixture of excitement and confusion within Nigeria security circles as a result of this new development in IPOB as security agencies do not know what to make of this.
The sack of Kanu is only the latest change in the checkered history of Radio Biafra, which began as the mouthpiece of MASSOB.

Anambra guber: Bomb scare at INEC office in Awka
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-14-2017, 08:16 AM - No Replies

There were rumours of bomb scare at the Anambra headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, following alleged discovery of a substance which looked like an improvised explosive device (IED).
A source who pleaded not to be named told DAILY POST that the device was detected by men of the anti-bomb squad of the Nigeria Police Force who combed the entire compound very early on Monday morning.
Our source said, “It was early this morning that I was trying to use that road, when police condoned it off. We were told that they found a device that looked like a bomb and had to stop everyone to so that they can diffuse the device.
Consequently, security has been beefed up at the premises.
When DAILY POST visited the compound, hordes of security operatives were seen, while visitors were subjected to full identification before entry.
The resident electoral commissioner REC, Dr Nkwachukwu Orji, in his reaction said no bomb was detected.
He, however, admitted that a substance was picked outside the compound and could have been dropped by anyone.
Orji added that it was the duty of the police to verify the object.
State police public relations officer, Princess Nkeiruka Nwode, said she was not aware of the discovery.
She recalled that she stayed late into the night at INEC and was not privy to such.
Asked to comment on influx of bomb disposal unit experts at the INEC office, Nwode said it was part of preparations for the Saturday governorship election.
CP Umar Garba pleaded to call back when our correspondent reached him on phone.
He was yet to do so as at the time of filing this report.

Biafra: How Buhari massacred our people – IPOB alleges
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-14-2017, 08:15 AM - No Replies

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari ordered soldiers to kill its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
IPOB made the claim while maintaining that Buhari was “carrying on the jihad of his forbearer Uthman Dan Fodio propagated by Sir Ahmadu Bello.”
In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful and sent to DAILY POST, on Monday, the group said “they hate our people with a passion, they love killing us.”
IPOB also alleged that Buhari’s planned visit to Anambra was part of a plot to rig the upcoming governorship election in the state.
The statement reads, “This Jubril person coming in the name of Buhari, it should be noted, is also planning to visit Anambra State on Wednesday 15th November in order to put executive finishing touches to the APC rigging plot to install the caliphate’s latest young Igbo recruit Tony Nwoye. This they hope will cement the ongoing humiliation and conquest of our people. God forbid!
“This thing Jubril is only coming to confirm to us that he is our lord and master. WE WILL NOT ACCEPT IT. He can lord it over Ohaneze Ndigbo, Igbo governors and Abuja rent boys but never over we die-hard Biafrans. The Governor that invited him will definitely pay a heavy price, he and his children long after Jubril must have returned to Sudan and Okorocha back to Jos.
“Buhari the supposed 75 year old blood thirsty nepotistic hater, killed our people in thousands during the 1966 Pogrom. He was with Col Murtala Mohamed at the Asaba Massacre in 1967 in case Chief John Nnia Nwodo and Gov. Dave Umahi have forgotten.
”He played a key role in all the theatres of genocidal mass slaughter of the Nigeria /Biafra War (1967-1970).
“He instructed soldiers to kill Nnamdi Kanu at his Afaraukwu Abia State residence 2 months ago. We are yet to know our leader’s whereabouts or that of his parents.
“This blood thirsty Fulani herdsman, holds a world view of Biafrans and Ndigbo in particular as a conquered, enslaved and dominated people. The only reason Buhari sought apex political power was to finish the pledge of Uthman Dan Fodio to dip the Koran in the Atlantic Ocean.
“He is carrying on the jihad of his forbearer Uthman Dan Fodio propagated by Sir Ahmadu Bello. They hate our people with a passion, they love killing us, so his coming is only to celebrate what he sees as the final defeat of our people. He will not go home alive.”

Report: Northern Muslim leaders lobby military to stop female combatant programme
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-14-2017, 08:13 AM - No Replies

The armed forces council has reportedly recommended an end to the admission of female cadets into the combatant course of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).
According to PUNCH, Northern Muslim leaders were said to be wary of a situation where a woman would someday lead the army.
The move to end the admission of female cadets is said to be recommendation 19 of harmonised terms and conditions of service officers, which was last week ratified by President Muhammadu Buhari.
“Phase out the training of female regular combatant cadets,” recommendation 19 reportedly read.
The report quotes a general as saying: “It is only the regular combatant commission that can give an officer the opportunity to aspire to head any of the services or rise to become the chief of defence staff, while the others have limited career path. If the military is able to scrap this programme, women will never be able to head any of the arms of the Nigerian military.
“The northern Muslim leaders want to prevent a situation where one day, a woman will lead the army and give orders to men.
“When we started the training of female cadets in 2011, we never thought it would be successful. When the first set of women cadets graduated from the academy last year, women won three awards, including the best award in the navy category.
“A female cadet, C. Lord-Mallam, won the Navy Gold award which is the highest in the navy category. The Army Silver award, which is the second highest in the army, went to a female cadet, K. O Dayo-Karim. The Air Force Silver award was also won by a female cadet, O. S Ijelu.
“However, some northern conservatives were not happy about it because most of the female cadets are either Christians from the South and northern minority groups or Muslims from the South and Middle Belt.
“Dissatisfied with how things are turning out, the northern Muslim leaders lobbied the military authorities to stop the programme for women.”
The Goodluck Jonathan administration had in 2010 ordered the military to allow females who aspired to become combatant officers into the NDA.

Biafra: Buhari won’t return alive in his visit to South East – IPOB threatens
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-14-2017, 08:11 AM - No Replies

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Monday warned President Muhammadu Buhari against his planned visit to the South East.
Barring any last minute change, Buhari is expected to visit Ebonyi through Enugu on November 14, 2017 and Anambra on November 15.
Reacting to the planned visit, IPOB warned that the said date will be “recorded in history as a very bloody day should that Jubril masquerading as Buhari attempt to land on Biafran soil.”
The pro-Biafra group also said Ohanaeze and South East governors should be responsible to bear the consequences of their attack on the president.
In a statement signed and sent to DAILY POST by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, IPOB warned that “we will die with him should he set his foot on the sacred land of Biafra. HE WILL NOT GO BACK ALIVE.”
IPOB claimed that Buhari was responsible for the death of its members at “Enugu, Nkpor, Igweocha, Aba, Onitsha and lastly Umuahia.”
The statement reads, “It is with a heavy heart and grave sense of responsibility that we IPOB worldwide under the supreme command Of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu announce to the world, that those who are completely committed to provoking bloodshed in our land may have finally succeeded. The consequences of any fallout from the visit of the impostor Jubril to Ebonyi State will rest squarely on the head of Chief John Nnia Nwodo, Gov. Dave Umahi, Rochas Okorocha and the rest of South East governors.
“Bringing this version of ‘Buhari’ to insult the memory of those killed at Enugu, Nkpor, Igweocha, Aba, Onitsha and lastly Umuahia will not be tolerated by IPOB and every right thinking Biafran for that matter. This is tantamount to an Israeli politician inviting Adolf Hitler to visit Jerusalem to mock the Jews he slaughtered in Concentration Camps during the holocaust.
“Tuesday 14th November 2017 will be recorded in history as a very bloody day should that Jubril masquerading as Buhari attempt to land on Biafran soil.
“We have remained passive and peaceful but it appears that Hausa Fulani slave politicians in Igboland are hell bent on provoking us to become violent. Whoever advised Ohaneze Ndigbo and Igbo governors to embark on this suicide mission does not wish them well.
“We would like to use this opportunity to call on the Sudanese government to come and return their citizen Jubril, who for months now have been fraudulently and deceptively been parading himself as the hated late dictator Muhammadu Buhari, when in actual fact he is not. That notwithstanding, given that this Jubril have now assumed the persona of the arch gemocidist Muhammadu Buhari, we shall treat him like Buhari.
“Reason this man, in whose name Operation Python Dance was ordered; an operation that swallowed 91 of our brethren, is visiting Ebonyi state through Enugu airport is best known to Chief John Nnia Nwodo and Gov. Dave Umahi. The impression of a defeated and conquered people being portrayed by the present OHANEZE leadership in concert with the governors of the South East is most troubling at this period in our history.
“For those that claim to be intellectual elites, their palpable lack of a sense of history showcases their ignorance at every turn. They are planning to welcome a man in the name Buhari, a name that is responsible for the worst war crimes and genocide in recent times against our people. The only atrocity left, for the likes of Nnia Nwodo and Dave Umahi, is for Biafraland to be transformed into a giant estate of the Fulani caliphate, with small labour camps owned by their Emirs, with Biafrans as their labouring slaves.
“Our message is short and simple. JUBRIL a.k.a Muhammadu Buhari will be exposed to the world as the impostor he is by making sure he never goes back alive. We will die with him should he set his foot on the sacred land of Biafra. HE WILL NOT GO BACK ALIVE. He is coming to mock us and to urinate on the graves of our 91 brethren his Operation Python Dance killed in Abia State. He is coming to show us that power belongs to the North and their slaves like Nnia Nwodo and Dave Umahi are in charge over their conquered territory and defeated people of Biafra. He has come to tell us we are forever slaves of his Islamic caliphate.”
”All those who plotted this visit will pay dearly. When the time comes their Northern masters will not be around to save them. We see them coming but they will not see us when the time for vengeance comes. Those who are hoping to welcome Buhari to Biafraland will suffer miserably. There will be no forgiveness.
”We have tried for years to avoid bloodshed, but our enemies have finally provoked us beyond measure. That Nnia Nwodo and Dave Umahi saw it fit to bring this Fulani hater of Igbos from Daura into our land to mock us proves that they are the problem of our people not the solution. We are going to perish together with this ‘Buhari’. It’s a promise.

Why I chose to play for Nigeria over Russia – Brian Idowu
User Avatar Forum: Sports World

Russia-born defender, Brian Idowu has revealed why he chose to represent Nigeria ahead of his country of birth, Russia.
Idowu, who plays for Amkar Perm made the revelation at the pre-match conference ahead of Nigeria’s friendly game against Argentina on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old said “I feel great (with Nigeria), I have been well received by both players and coaches. The atmosphere is very positive. For me this is a huge chance and experience.
“As for why I’m not playing for Russia, I shouldn’t be asked this question. I want to go to the World Cup for Nigeria, because they believed in me.
“This is important for me and for my parents. If there is a next challenge, then everything will be decided, whether I play in the Russia 2018 World Cup.”

They don’t read the bible, they only brainwash – OAP Freeze attacks Adeboye again
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories

Controversial media personality, Daddy Freeze, has again taken a swipe at the General Overseer of the Redeemed christian church of God Pastor Adeboye over the ongoing tithes controversy.
This time around, Freeze says G.O Adeboye needs to brush up his biblical proficiency, countering his statement earlier that only a mad man will bring alcohol into the church.
OAP freeze stressed that Pastor Adeboye has made a mockery of christianity and shamed his scriptural knowledge with such a statement.
On his instagram page, he wrote “A General overseer can NEVER override the scriptures, NEVER.
“That’s how one GO, who badly needs to brush up his biblical proficiency, said, “even a mad person knows you can’t drink beer in church.”
“That GO made mockery of Christianity and brandished the bankruptcy of his scriptural knowledge.
“Is he doubting the sanity of the almighty God who declared that tithe could be used to buy beer in Deuteronomy 14:22-26 or is he saying that Moses is a lunatic?
“Read bible they won’t read, na so so brainwashing dem sabi.
“Thank you Reno Omokri and Femi Aribisala you have both showcased the depth of your scriptural understanding and highlighted a genre of knowledge that can only come through dedicated studying and research, I salute you both.”

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

TUESDAY, 14TH NOVEMBER.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨ A SELF-HEALING MECHANISM INSIDE YOU✨

_*But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you (Romans 8:11).*_

Isaiah 53:5 says, _*“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”*_ This is one of the scriptures that many Christians use all around the world, to claim healing. In reality, however, the Prophet Isaiah was here talking to the Jews and not to Christians. He gives them a preview of the grace of the coming Messiah, and tells them, _*“…with his stripes we are healed.”*_

Then the Apostle Peter, in his epistle, looks back at the Cross, and says _*“…by whose stripes ye were healed”*_ (1 Peter 2:24). But he was talking to the Jews. He wasn’t talking to every Christian. The Jews were the ones under the covenant; the covenant of healing was for the Jewish Church, the Old Testament Church. They were the ones healed by His stripes.

The Church of Jesus Christ that was born after His resurrection, in the real sense, doesn’t require healing from God. The Church has a self-healing mechanism. What the Church received is eternal life; eternal life doesn’t need healing. Eternal life is the God-life, the very essence of divinity; life that is “uninfectable,” untainted with sickness, disease and infirmities. If you have eternal life, it doesn’t matter what trouble you may have in your body, if you’d stir up the gift of God—the life of God in your spirit—your whole body will be vitalized.

Our opening text says, “If the spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead lives in you, He’ll vitalize your mortal body. The Spirit in you is life-generating. The Bible says the first man, Adam, was made a living soul, the second Adam was made a life giving Spirit (1 Corinthians 15:45). We’re not born after the first Adam; we’re born after the second Adam, Jesus Christ. Jesus never needed healing; and as He is, so are we in this world.

You have a life-giving Spirit resident in you. You were given a life that’s greater than healing. As long as you’re a babe in Christ, you’ll need healing. The Bible calls healing the children’s bread. When you come to maturity, you’ll give up childish things. You won’t be seeking healing. Rather, you’d say, “I’ve got the life of God in me; therefore, I’ll never be sick.” And if you’re used to getting sick, say, “I’ll never be sick again, because I have the life of Christ in me.” Hallelujah!

CONFESSION
I have the life and nature of God in me; therefore, I’m an overcomer and more than a conqueror. I live a triumphant and victorious life every day, far above sickness, disease, the devil and the negative system of this world!*

FURTHER STUDY: 1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

John 5:26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

Romans 8:10 And if Christ [be] in you, the body [is] dead because of sin; but the Spirit [is] life because of righteousness.

The Nigeria Police Force has deployed 26,000, 15 gunboats and 303 patrol vehicles for the Anambra State gubernatorial election scheduled for 18 November. This was disclosed in a statement by Mr. Jimoh Moshood, Force Public Relations Officer.
According to the statement, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Department of Operations of the Force has been deployed to the state and will be assisted by an Assistant Inspector-General of Police and three Commissioners of Police to be in charge of each Senatorial District.
“In order to ensure adequate security and safety of lives and properties before, during and after the elections, the Inspector General of Police has graciously approved deployment of additional 26,000 Police personnel, comprising the Police Special Forces, Police Mobile Force, the Counter- Terrorism Unit (CTU), Special Protection Unit (SPU), the Anti Bomb Squad (EOD), the Force Marine Police, Conventional Policemen, the Force Armament Unit, personnel from Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (FCIID), Mounted Troops, the attack and Sniffer Dogs Section, Police Gun Boats, Police Helicopters and Armored Personnel Carriers (APC) to Anambra State and most of these personnel are already on the ground,” the statement said.
It added that the deployed equipment will be deployed to cover entire state, including riverine areas and difficult terrains. In addition, other security and safety agencies, which are members of Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) in the state are also deployed to complement the Police.
“Four policemen are deployed to each polling unit along with personnel of other security and safety agencies. No armed security personnel will be allowed within the polling units. Armed Police detachments on patrol vehicles are going to patrol the streets and other locations throughout the state to prevent crime and intervene to quell any violence that may occur during the election,” the statement further said.
To further ensure peaceful conduct of the election, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Ibrahim K. Idris, and Chairman, Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) will meet stakeholders and political parties, their flag bearers before the date of the election.
The statement warned that Police personnel deployed for the election must be polite and civil, but firm.
“They are to provide adequate security for the electorate, INEC officials, election materials, election observers and other individuals and bodies that have statutory roles in the conduct of the election, at the polling booths, collation centers, and INEC offices in Anambra State throughout the period of the election,” stated the Police.
The Police also announced that vehicular movement in the state between 12 midnight on 17 November till after the voting period on the day of the election. Government agencies and personnel on essential duties and services, however, will be allowed passage within the period.
“Security identification tag will be provided for all the security and safety agencies, INEC officials, election observers/monitors and others that have statutory duties to carry out in the election. The security personnel deployed will only operate within the area they are posted for the election,” the Police said.
The statement also declared that Commissioners of Police and personnel in the states contiguous to Anambra State have been put on red-alert not to allow an influx of miscreants and thugs into Anambra State. Also, a broad-spectrum security threats assessment is in progress.
“All the identified flashpoints, trouble spots and other perceived violence/vulnerable areas in the state have been profiled and appropriate pragmatic strategies and tactics have been implemented to checkmate and tackle them ahead of the election.Consequent on the renewed threat by the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and other affiliate groups to disrupt the election, the Force has deployed Special Police Forces, Police Mobile Force, Specially Trained Counter-Terrorism Unit and other intelligence and tactical Squads to deal decisively with IPOB,” the statement added.
The Police assured voters of adequate security, warning IPOB to stay off polling units. The Force also warned political parties, traditional rulers, community leaders, parents and guardians to advise their followers and wards to be law-abiding or face the full weight of the law.

Buhari, Others Have 101 Presidential Aides; Buhari 24, Osinbajo 52 (Full List)
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-13-2017, 08:38 PM - No Replies

Between himself, his wife and close lieutenants, President Muhammadu Buhari has at least 101 aides, PREMIUM TIMES can report.
However, over 50 percent of those aides are attached to the office of the vice president.
PREMIUM TIMES has obtained a list of presidential appointees serving as aides to President Buhari, his wife, Aisha Buhari, the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, and other government officials.
Apart from the two men, Mr. Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, has eight aides attached to him.
Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has six presidential aides atttached to his office, while the Secretary to the Government of the Federation has five of such aides.
The wife of the president has three recognised aides while the two presidential media assistants are attached to the Minister of information and Culture, Lai Mohammed.
Mr. Osinbajo is said to have appointed at least 15 of those aides between June and August, 2017 when Mr. Buhari was away on medical vacation.
‘ALL THE PRESIDENT’S MEN’
The list shows that Mr. Buhari’s office has aides on wide range of issues, from key areas of administration and media to social events and housekeeping.
The area with the highest number of aides is media, which has eight appointees – at least one known media aide of the president is however not listed.
The eight in the list, apart from the two official spokespersons of the president, include two aides on new/social media, two on photography and one aide each for “TV Media” and “Broadcast Media”.
LION SHARE FOR OSINBAJO
But while Mr. Buhari has a total number of 24 aides, Mr. Osinbajo has 52, going by the list.
Apart from the initial 21 appointees in the office of the vice president, who handle key areas from economy to social investment programme and media, the vice president has another list of 31 aides to his name.
For the latter list of 31, the aides are grouped into two; 14 are identified as donor funded while the rest are categorised as “government funded”.
Those identified as being funded by donors include senior special assistants on power, IDPs, power privatization, monitoring and evaluation, among others.
Omissions
However, like a previous list of appointees officially released by the president, this list is also not without omissions.
Omitted from the list, by PREMIUM TIMES’s check, are at least one aide each for Mr. Buhari and Mr. Osinbajo.
Bashir Ahmad, a Personal Assistant of Mr. Buhari on New Media is excluded so also is a special assistant to the president on inter-governmental affairs, working in the office of the vice president, Abdulrahman Baffa Yola.
The list also does not include security personnel and civil servants attached to these individuals, who an insider said are also in their dozens.
For example, both the president and the vice president are said to have protocol officers and chief security officers.
The president also has an army colonel serving as his Aide de Camp, ADC. A senior police officer is serving the vice president in similar role.
“This is in addition to a routine of other officials deployed from all over the government to serve the two men,” a presidency source said.

The eight contenders for the National Chairmanship of the Peoples Democratic Party have agreed to work with any of them elected at the party’s National Convention on Dec. 9.
Chairman of PDP Governors Forum, Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti, made the disclosure at a news briefing in the early hours of Monday after a five and half hour closed-door meeting in Enugu.
Fayose said that the governors met to deliberate on the forthcoming national convention and discussed with the chairmanship aspirants.
According to him, the forthcoming PDP convention will serve as a template for future conventions in the country.
“We put PDP first and PDP is first. We are leaving Enugu believing that we will take power at the centre in 2019.”
Fayose flanked by other PDP governors expressed the belief that the party would win the Nov. 18 governorship poll in Anambra.
“We believe we will take over Anambra if the election is free, fair and credible.
“Nigeria is of age to conduct election that is acceptable internationally,” he said.
Governors at the meeting were, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Enugu; Okezie Ikpeazu, Abia; Darius Ishaku, Taraba; Ibrahim Dankwambo, Gombe.
Others were Emmanuel Udom, Akwa-Ibom; Ben Ayade, Cross River; Ifeanyi Okowa, Delta; Seriake Dickson, Bayelsa; Nyesom Wike, River, while Ebonyi was represented by the deputy governor.
Of the eight chairmanship aspirants, South-west had six while South-South had two.
They are Bode George, Jimi Agbaje, Taoheed Adedoja, Tunde Adeniran, Rasheed Ladoja, Gbenga Daniel, Raymond Dokpesi and Uche Secondus.
Former governors at the meeting were Gabriel Suswam of Benue and Godswill Akpabio of Akwa-Ibom.
The meeting was also attended by former External Affairs Minister, Tom Ikimi, Kema Chikwe, former Senate President Adolphus Wabara, and incumbent Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu.

Nigerians call Buhari to free Sheikh Zakzaky
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 11-13-2017, 06:58 PM - No Replies

(MNA) – Musa, the President of IMN’s Media Forum told Mehr News Agency that after 700 days of unwarranted detention of Sheikh Zakzaky, Zakzaky’s wife, and companions, still nobody has heard of his destiny.
Ibrahim Musa, the President of Media Forum of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) told Mehr News Agency on Sunday that Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari is trying to cover up his tyrannical treatment of Muslims in the African country.
Here comes the full text of his message sent to Mehr News on Sunday:
700 days of illegal detention: Buhari free Sheikh Zakzaky now!
It is now 700 days since the unwarranted detention of our leader, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, his wife, Zeenah, and several hundreds of other members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria in various detention centers. That was sequel to the cruel attack by the Federal government using its Military might in an attempt at exterminating the Movement, its leadership, membership and properties. As we are all aware, since that murderous weekend of December 12, 2015, we are still looking for justice on the matter.
What happened between December 12 and 14, 2015 and subsequently has largely been deliberately kept hidden by the perpetrators. Amnesty International (AI) in its report called it “’Unearthing the Truth’: Unlawful killings and mass cover-up in Zaria.” The report, which was a product of extensive field investigation by independent investigators, has since been irritating the Nigerian government, who are hell-bent on covering what actually happened that cost the lives of over a thousand innocent citizens, using all instruments of state powers.
Only recently, they have tried unsuccessfully to stamp the cover up using the so-called Presidential Investigation Panel, headed by Justice Biobele A. Georgewill, purportedly established to probe human rights abuses of the military. However, when it mattered most, the panel clearly demonstrated its lack of credibility and independence, when it took weeks before the panel was given “permission” to entertain the memo of the most victimized petitioner, who suffered what could best be described as state-sanctioned genocide. Even at that, the panel did not have the liver to take testimony in public, as it tried to hide evidence from public glare and scrutiny. The government of Buhari was not prepared to face the truth.
It is only now that it is becoming clear to people that right from the outset; the intent was to destroy in whole the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN). That was clearly demonstrated by the military personnel that repeatedly chanted “No more Shi’ah” and other anti-IMN slogans as they massacred women, children and all others in Zaria. That would explain why they destroyed all properties of IMN including schools and religious centers as well as desecrated grave yards where members of IMN were buried. They massively killed over a thousand members of the IMN, including those they had shot and injured but could not be taken to shelter. They burnt people alive as well as the corpses of those they had killed!
Who would quantify the serious bodily or mental harm the unprecedented Zaria massacre and the persistent follow through had caused to members of the Islamic Movement and their relations? Those who had escaped with their lives faced other shades of brutality till this day. Hundreds were arbitrarily arrested and are detained, some being wrongly accused with framed up charges. It is only now that the courts have been vindicating us, discharging and acquitting the wrongfully accused and detained. Many are still being kept in secret confinement without charges or trials. Many were denied appropriate medical attention and died in custody. Pregnant women had premature deliveries while in custody and some others suffered miscarriages. The hallmark of the mental torture was the secret burial of those they killed in mass graves without letting their relations give them a befitting burial. In fact, their relatives have not been informed of the extrajudicial execution of their loved ones.
Shaikh Zakzaky’s health condition continues to deteriorate in detention, a condition calculated to bring about his physical destruction. Even as the courts had passed judgment calling for the release of the Sheikh and compensation for illegal detention, the government is still holding him in contempt to that judgment almost a year after. For the last seven hundred days of their incarceration, Sheikh Zakzaky was allowed access to his lawyers only twice.
For the last seven hundred days, we are being denied our rights to our faith in Kaduna, Kano and Sokoto as well as some few other states. We have been denied the right to freely associate, assemble or peacefully protest. You all are witnesses to all these acts of intimidation.
As of today, the government of Buhari has not arrested a single person for these serious crimes. It has shown obvious unwillingness to appropriately prosecute the perpetrators of this genocide. It only seeks to further protect them and even further perpetrate more crimes. We are prepared to take all necessary legal ways to seek redress. In the international scene, we shall proceed to urge the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Court (ICC) at The Hague to indict President Muhammadu Buhari, Governors Nasiru ElRufai and Umaru Ganduje, General Yusuf Buratai and all others who meticulously planned and executed the Zaria genocide and are actively perpetuating it.
The Islamic Movement in Nigeria wishes to appreciate all persons and groups who are standing by us since the last seven hundred days. The road was long, rough and tortuous, but at every turn you were all there with us. The work ahead remains arduous. We will however not relent in stepping up our peaceful protests for the release of our leader and all those being held. We are not cowed by their terror tactics against us.

Attorney General Malami has abused his office in Misau’s case — Group
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-13-2017, 06:55 PM - No Replies

A civil society organisation, Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), has accused the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, of abusing powers bestowed on his office in handling of the case between the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, and Senator Isa Misau.
The group questioned why the AGF took up a case between two citizens “an apparent favour” of one.
The case between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Senator Misau is currently being heard by the Federal High Court, Abuja.
Mr. Misau alleged that Mr. Idris stole about N10 billion monthly as internally generated revenue from policemen attached to private citizens and oil companies, engaged in romantic affairs with policewomen, and practiced favouritism in the promotion and appointment of Commissioners of Police.
The Senate set up a committee to probe the allegations, but the IGP while appearing before the panel declined to answer questions saying it would amount to subjudice since the matter was in court.
In an open letter on Monday, the CDHR described the decision of AGF to file criminal charges against Mr. Misau as an abuse of power.
“It is utterly worrisome that although the allegations by Senator Misau, being investigated by the Senate, are specifically directed at or against the person of Mr. Ibrahim Idris and not against the Federal Government or the Nigerian Police Force, but the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation, exploiting your office and acting on behalf of the Federal Government, filed two separate charges in different courts against Senator Misau for allegedly making injurious statements against Mr. Ibrahim Idris, the IGP,” the letter reads.
“Both cases are pending in Abuja before the Federal High Court and the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, respectively. This decision to file two criminal charges against Senator Misau, apparently in favour of Mr. Ibrahim Idris, the IGP, in the circumstance, comes across as an abuse of your office as the Attorney-General of the Federation. By instituting those criminal charges against Senator Misau you have given the very dangerous impression that the Buhari Administration is determined to cover up allegations of corruption made against any public officer.”
While calling on the AGF to withdraw the cases, the group challenged Mr. Malami to allow the IGP to defend himself.
“Mr. Ibrahim Idris, the IGP, has filed a libel suit against Senator Isah Misau. Since Mr. Idris has rightly decided to defend his own reputation by suing for libel, the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) is compelled to request that you immediately discontinue the embarrassing criminal charges against Senator Misau without any delay. We are convinced that the libel suit filed by Mr. Idris will restore his reputation if Senator Isah Misau fails to substantiate his allegations at the trial of the libel suit. The office of the Attorney General of the Federation is not to engage in taking up causes against citizens in apparent favour of certain individuals because they hold public offices.”

  Buhari approves 2,250 EFCC jobs
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-13-2017, 06:53 PM - No Replies

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved 2, 250 job slots for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The agency is expected to recruit 750 new employees per annum over three years.
The anti-graft agency in collaboration with the Federal Character Commission (FCC) has started the recruitment test nationwide based on the zonal offices of the EFCC in order to create a level-playing ground for candidates.
The commission was also said to have resorted to zonal basis in order to avoid a repeat of the stampede which affected a similar exercise in the Nigerian Immigration Service.
The President approved the slots to increase the commission’s number of core and support staff since the anti-graft war is moving to the next stage.
It was however learnt that some highly-placed Nigerians want the recruitment to hold in Abuja so as to be able to wield influence.
A document obtained by our correspondent indicated that the EFCC has written to the Federal Character Commission (FCC) and obtained approval to go ahead with the recruitment.
The document showed that each zonal recruitment test is being coordinated by a Director of EFCC, two commissioners from the EFCC and other top staff of the anti-graft agency.
A source, who spoke in confidence, said: “The approval letter was specific that we should employ at least 750 workers per year for the next three years. We have brought this approval to the notice of the relevant committees in the National Assembly. There is no question of secret or under-the-table recruitment.
“We decided to take the recruitment process to the zonal offices to create a level-playing ground for all. And given the high number of applicants, we chose zonal procedure to avoid recruitment stampede.
“But we are not waiving our recruitment procedures under any guise for the new hands. Apart from screening their certificates, we subject them to covert investigation and ask them to write tests.
“In order to be fair to all candidates, we are conducting the recruitment process at our zonal offices and after selecting the best, the relevant desks at the headquarters will further evaluate their performance based on our tight regulations.
“At the end of the day, the best candidates will proceed to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna for training.
It was also learnt that Magu has drawn only 37 per cent of the N150million security votes appropriated for the EFCC chairman in 2017.
This is contrary to insinuations that the Acting EFCC chairman had been getting N15million monthly as security votes.
Another official said: “The records are clear. With a month left to the end of the year, Magu has only collected 37 per cent of the statutory N150million security votes (per year) for the office of the EFCC chairman. This is the least the commission has ever recorded.”

Buhari Endorses El-rufai’s Plan To Sack 21,780 Teachers
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-13-2017, 05:02 PM - No Replies

President Muhammadu Buhari has thrown his weight behind the move of Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna state, to sack 21,780 teachers, who failed the competency test conducted by the state government.
The plan of the state government had sparked controversy, with many calling on the governor to back down because of the economic implication on the affected civil servants.
But speaking at a special retreat of the federal executive council (FEC) on the challenges facing the education sector, Buhari said it was no longer a secret that the sector was in crisis.
The president said the effect of decay in the education sector is glaring, vowing that his administration would change the situation for the better.

"My Ancestors Were Shipped To US For Slavery, I'm Coming Home" - US Based Man
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Gimbiya - 11-13-2017, 04:43 PM - No Replies

An African American man from Abia state has said that he's visiting Nigeria next year 2018 after being based in the United States all his life. David Love who is a US citizen, said his ancestors were captured/shipped to America for slavery and worked on a plantation so that he might return to his homeland one day as his relatives have provided him with traditional attire for him to dress like an Igbo man in the US.

Below is what he shared on Facebook;

I am African American but my ancestor was captured and shipped to North America for enslavement. It was here that my ancestor survived on a slave plantation in Virginia so that I might one day return to my homeland. I am descended from the Igbos of Umuahia and my clan is within Umuopara.

My DNA has been connected my distant cousin Obie Uwadineke who is from Umunwanwa. Mazi Ikem C. Eronini has provided me with the clothing so that I can dress as an Igbo man. I am returning 2018 to visit.

5 STDs You Can Get While Wearing A Condom
User Avatar Forum: Health Wise
Posted by: Gimbiya - 11-13-2017, 04:14 PM - No Replies

Barrier methods like condoms are very good at preventing sexually transmitted diseases by blocking the exchange of genital fluids. They are effective in preventing hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV, syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea.

The problem is condoms don’t entirely prevent transmission of all STDs because some STDs can be transmitted from skin to skin contact.

It’s very important to get regularly tested if you have multiple sex partners.

Here are 5 STDs You Can Get While Wearing A Condom

1. Genital Herpes

Genital herpes is a common viral STD marked by genital sores and pain.

It usually results in sores or lesions on the upper thighs, genitals or anus. Since some sores or lesions are found in areas that are exposed during condom use, transmission of infection is possible.

Genital Herpes is a very common STD and spreads very easily, it affects more than 1.5 million people per year. Genital Herpes has no cure presently, but certain treatment exists that could help those with the condition.

2. Molluscum Contagiosum

Molluscum contagiosum is a skin infection caused by the Molluscum contagiosum virus. The condition spreads through contact with an infected person or a contaminated object. The virus causes tiny little bumps on the skin. The small bumps usually appear about two months from the time of infection.

Just like HPV this infection is known to spread easily and affects more than 100 thousand people per year in Nigeria alone. Fortunately, Molluscum Contagiosum can be easily treated and resolved within months

3. HPV (human papillomavirus)

Copyright: Paul Samuel FitnessDoctor (realfitbody.com)

HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection globally. It is so common that most will get infected at one time or the other in their lives. It is caused by the human papillomavirus and may manifests as genital warts in some cases. These warts can be found on the genitals; its presence in areas not covered by a condom makes infection easy. Even without genital warts, HPV infection can occur skin to skin.

There's no cure for the virus and warts may go away on their own. Treatment focuses on removing warts.

Over time, warts or precancerous lesions increase the risk of cancer of the cervix, vulva, vagina, joystick, anus, mouth, or throat which makes the virus a big health risk compared to the others.

4. Syphilis

Syphilis is a highly contagious disease spread by sexual activity, including vaginal, anal and MouthAction. Fortunately, syphilis is treatable and has fewer cases in Nigeria than the others (fewer than 100 thousand cases per year).

Syphilis manifests as a round, firm sore. While wearing a condom decreases the odds of getting infected, if the sores are located in areas not covered by the condom, it can be transmitted.

5. Pubic Lice (crab lice)

Pubic lice or crab lice are very small insects that infest your genital area, it feeds exclusively on blood. It is common among teenagers and adults who keep a full pubic hair. The pubic lice are spread sexually by skin to skin contact.

You can also be infected after sharing bedding, clothing and through toilet seats.

Improving your body hygiene by bathing regularly and shaving a lot more can help alleviate the condition, but you should also visit your healthcare provider. Also, use an over-the-counter lotion or anti-lice shampoo to remove the lice and its eggs.

The year is almost coming to a close and its getting closer to that big giveaway of gift and accessories for regular visitors of my blog and all my subscribers. Don't miss out

What’s Your Life’s Goal; To Be Successful Or Attain Greatness

Mariam Mohammed –
Today I will share with you a speech. After listening to the speech myself, I decided to share with you one of the most thought-provoking speeches I have ever heard from none other person than the eloquent Prof. of law – the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) in which he spoke extensively about success and greatness. For me, this topic came at a time when the country is in dire need of selfless leaders. After listening to the speech I asked myself; what have I been working towards? Is it success or greatness?
Vice President Osinbajo is a theatrically effective orator, anytime, at any event when I listen to him, I get inspired by his speech irrespective of the topic. He sure has a way of capturing your mind no matter how tired you are, you will always want to hear more from him. Just when you think you’ve heard the best speech, he comes up with another. But this one he delivered at the Lead City University, is thought-provoking.
It was an inspirational speech that was given to the graduating students of Lead City University, Ibadan, at its 10th Convocation in May 2017. The students are so fortunate to have such a quintessential leader addressed them because not many students had such rare privilege.
The Vice President, being a great orator, you can imagine back in the days when you needed lyrics to toast a babe, I bet, he must have been a smooth operator unlike these days when all you need is emoticon, I can imagine the lyrics Prof must have used to woo his wife.
Osinbajo in his speech, reminds us all that time flies, and that people should think of what and how they have used it especially as it regards impacting the live of others to make the world a better place.
Here goes the speech: “I am honoured to have been invited to celebrate this special day with you, the 10th Convocation ceremony of the Lead City University.
In celebrating the past we honour the selflessness and enterprising spirit of the founder and all those who not only dared to envision this great institution and turned a dream to this city of great edifices to nurture the great minds of the future.
So, today we must honour the founder of this place of creativity and learning, Prof. Jide Owoeye, a man whose life and times have proved that with vision, hard work, and the courage of your convictions you can achieve practically anything.
By establishing this University and before it several other educational institutions, he has shown that securing the future of the following generations is the most important service that we owe the present.”
“As we do this we also celebrate the great scholars, and the fine academics who make up the faculties here at the Lead City University – you are the thought leaders at a pivotal time in our national history, whose enormous task is to guide the present and inspire the future. And as we celebrate also, and perhaps most importantly, the reason why we are gathered – the graduating class of 2017. Congratulations and many congratulations also to the parents, family, guardians, sponsors and loved ones of the graduands.
I was 60 years old in March this year. And I must confess that it was one of the greatest surprises I ever experienced. I just suddenly became 60.
I can clearly remember when I graduated I was 21 years old. How time flies. One of the most important lessons you will learn is that time flies. Whether you are wasting it or using it well. It simply flies by.”
“There are a few other lessons I learnt along the way. And at the age of 60 I am entitled to give some advice and l will share some of them with you, some you might agree with, others you may not, but I would be most flattered if you remember them and whenever you meet me in life’s journey somewhere down the line you will tell me whether I was right or wrong.
First, I learnt that talent, an excellent degree, even coming from a well-off family may not necessarily mean success and certainly does not mean greatness. The most talented people, those who get the best degrees and even from a well-known family do not necessarily become the most successful in life.”
“The difference between success and failure, mediocrity or excellence is character. Along with character is the importance of opportunity but perhaps most crucial is the grace of God.
So what is Character? l will define it my own way. Character is a set of values that shapes the conduct of an individual. It is the set of principles spoken and unspoken that a person observes and lives by.
I will speak about some aspects of character that I have learned would make the crucial difference in life. These are trustworthiness, courage, hard work especially (innovation) and self-discipline.”
“Let us take trustworthiness. The currency of business, commerce and social interaction is trust. If you can be trusted, if people find you trustworthy, your class of degree or what your family name is will not matter. You will be successful.
As a young student at the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1980, my school fees were delayed in a particular term. There were problems with the remitting from the Central Bank in Nigeria.
So, I spoke to the students’ counselor in my faculty who asked me to go to the bank and ask for a loan. I asked how? How do l go for a loan when i don’t have any money? I owe over 600 pounds and I probably have only 50 pounds in the bank, where would I get the collateral to take the loan?”
“Anyway, I got to the bank and l explained the problem to the lady across the counter that I needed to pay 600 pounds for my fees and she simply asked the name and brought out my ledger, she looked at it and found out I had no money in there. She asked me when I thought I could repay, I said maybe 6 weeks. She then gave me a document that I signed and she gave me 600 pounds. I paid my fees and I paid back when my cheque came.
But in the same United Kingdom, a few years after, if you carried a Nigerian passport, the banks would not even open an account for you because some Nigerians abused the trust that financial transactions require. They thought how foolish these oyinbo people are – they used credit cards to buy cars, furniture, and electronics, and ran back to Nigeria and hampered the opportunity of others in getting a loan from the bank.
And if you look at the past few years many foreign banks have closed accounts of Nigerians because of the numerous attempts to defraud on those accounts. So, no matter how much money you have in your account, they just say we don’t want your business because it’s just too much trouble to do business with people who cannot be trusted. So, because of the untrustworthiness of a few, a whole nation is painted black.
But there is an opportunity here because so many Nigerians and foreigners must do business in Nigeria; the world is in search of the Nigerian of integrity, the trust worthy Nigerian to do business with and to employ.”
“Everyone wants faithful partners or employees. Even thieves are in search of trustworthy people to keep their money with.
The other lesson is that you must repay when you borrow whether it is from a friend, relation or a bank. Credit is the lifeblood of business, the lifeblood of commerce. You are dead if your credit sources dry up.
And let me just go on quickly, l think it is important for us to just look at one or two other issues along the lines of character and hard work. But just before l go into that let me recall a story, a story of a friend of mine since we are just talking about trustworthiness.”
“I have a friend Remi Morgan. He owns perhaps the largest Christian book store in Nigeria. When he wanted to start his business of importing bibles and Christian books from the US, no publisher in the US wanted to give him credit because many Nigerians who they had done business with in the past had taken credit and simply disappeared.
So, he had to pay cash for everything. Now if you want to do a profitable business you must have credit line. But if you don’t have credit you can’t do profitable business. But, gradually he began to build trust, as time went on he began to show that he could be trustworthy. They gave him credit for 30 days, before 60 then 120, and he made sure he paid back, so everybody wanted to do business with him.
Suddenly, every Christian and business books publisher around the world want to do business with this honest Nigerian. So Later on his book company possibly became the largest bookshop in Nigeria because he showed that he could be trusted.
The moment you show that you can be trusted, everything changes.
Simple as it may sound hard work and diligence is one of those character attributes that will set you apart.”
“And let me dwell on this point. From here on, it really doesn’t matter what you are hired as at your first job, whether you are hired as a lowly receptionist, or as a personal assistant, no matter how lowly it may be what is important is how hardworking and diligence you put to it.
This is what will recommend you in the future and l want you to remember that it doesn’t really matter how that job is, it does matter whether it’s an important job or not but what will recommend you is hard work and diligence.
While I was teaching at the University of Lagos as a young lecturer in the department of Public Law in the Faculty of Law, there were 3 typists in the department. The chief typist, senior typist and the junior typist. Because in those days before laptops and personal computers, typists in Universities had to do a lot of work and they were very important because you always needed to type all your materials.”
“When there was work to do, what l discovered was that the chief typist would disappear. He worked only till 4 pm. The senior typist would be nowhere to be found. But Adereni the junior typist, who only had his school certificate, was remarkably hardworking. Sometimes I would drop him off at his home at 1am.”
“Years after, I was working as an adviser to the then Attorney-General of the Federation, Hon. Bola Ajibola. And he later became a judge of the World Court. While in the court at The Hague, in the Netherlands, one day he called me and asked if I could recommend a good secretary who is hard work and could do long judgments. I had three options, Chief typist, senior or this junior typist, but the junior typist at a time had only school certificate he didn’t have any other qualification but l choose him. He got to the Hague, and typically worked hard and diligently. Every judge in the court wanted him to work with them. He later moved his family over to the Hague and got degrees and made a good living for himself. One day he remembered me and actually sent me a pack.
“I just want to say that it was so apparent that all that he had to proof despite the fact that he had no qualifications at all, all he had to proof was diligence and hard work.” “Solomon in the bible, the wisest man on earth, said these very wise words: ‘The race is not to the swift, Nor the battle to the strong, Nor bread to the wise, Nor riches to men of understanding, Nor favor to men of skill; But time and chance happen to them all.’
‘The race is not to the swift, Nor the battle to the strong, Nor bread to the wise, Nor riches to men of understanding, Nor favor to men of skill, but time and chance happen to them all.’”
“Time and chance is another way of saying opportunity is crucial to success.
And I am sure many of us are familiar with that saying opportunity knocks once as they say, but I think it’s probably truer to say that sometimes opportunity whispers. Besides as Raville an intellectual said the opportunity of a lifetime must be ceased in the lifetime of that opportunity. But to seize opportunity you must be prepared.”
“Most people have great hopes and dreams. But they are hardly ready for the opportunity when it comes. Let me tell you another story. A lady worked with me many years ago. One of her greatest ambitions was to do a Masters Degree in law in the US. She prayed hard about it. And everyone in the department knew of her desire.
One day out of the blues we got an offer from a US foundation through the embassy to nominate a candidate preferably female to do a master and fellowship in a US University. Wow the rejoicing that day. We were all so excited. We had only two days to the deadline. We had to submit her passport that afternoon. Then the bombshell, she didn’t have a passport! We desperately the next day to obtain a passport but it didn’t work.”
“To cut a long story short, she lost the opportunity. She had everything else but missed her moment. So there are some here who will say I want to work in an international organization, may be the United Nation, and you know that to stand a good chance you need a second language apart from English.
So, if you haven’t started yet now is the time to learn French, Spanish, or even Chinese. So you won’t be like the young man who was asked if he spoke a second language and he said yes, English and itsekiri.
I think that aside from hard work, innovation will be very important. Here in Nigeria many young people are using technology to disrupt existing assumptions and create new opportunities, new markets for themselves.
Nollywood films- Jason Njoku is not an actor or movie producer but he has used technology to create a new line of business in the Nollywood film industry. He is the proprietor of the Iroko brand TV, he made the Iroko brand the largest mainstream licensors and distributors of over 5,000 Nollywood films and African Music. Iroko has attracted $20 million in equity.”
“So is the story of Jobberman, which was listed in the Forbes Magazine Top 10 Tech startups in Africa. Jobberman’s story is a fascinating one.
In 2009, Olalekan Elude, Ayodeji Adewunmi and Opeyemi Awoyemi at the time students of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife, started a site called Jobberman in their hostel to help connect people looking for work with companies looking to hire.
Now, Jobberman is one of the top 100 websites in Nigeria, and it gets 5,000 applications every day. Just last May Max Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook mentioned them as one of the major technology innovators in Nigeria. They have grown the company into a multimillion-dollar company. The young founders have now divested their interests in the company and are investing in other young Nigerian startups themselves. Jobberman follows the same principle as the others, they simply link supply and demand.”
“There is a Venture Garden Group – a group of young people another story of creating new markets and opportunities within existing markets. Venture Garden is a data driven Automation Company founded by three young Nigerians average age of 28, the company focuses on big data, automation and revenue assurance systems and has taken innovation to new levels.
For example, one of the subsidiaries PowerTech provides automation for the National power grid which now allows real-time monitoring of energy flow from generation to distribution and payment to all parties, to promote transparency and sustainability of the electricity market.”
“Social Media is possibly the internet’s most outstanding phenomenon. It has created in its own economy and the only limits of opportunity are that of your imagination. For example see how many young people have taken advantage of it to innovatively redefine the Press and journalism and communication.
“Today bloggers such as Bella Naija, Linda Ikeji, and news aggregators like Nairaland command larger readership than regular print newspapers. Linda Ikeji alone has more people reading her blog than any Nigerian newspaper.
Nairaland, founded in 2003 by 20-year old Seun Osewa, claims about 1.6 million subscribers, has several times more readers than the combined number of readers of all Nigerian papers put together.
Nairaland creates no content of its own. To start off it cost Seun Osewa less than 10,000 Naira a month and Internet access, to build this multi million Naira business and it’s so incredible when you hear about these young people.”
“Finally I have learnt that success is more easily attainable than Greatness. You may be a successful businessman, politician, or professional but not a great. Greatness is not for everyone. But I think I learnt the secret of greatness, you will only be great if you devote your life, and your efforts, to serving others.
The path to greatness is self-sacrifice for the good of others. Mandela is great because he gave his youth and his professional practice as a lawyer in the struggle against apartheid and a South Africa that would treat all citizens as equals.”
“Martin Luther King is imprinted in history because gave up everything for the dream of a Nation where none would be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their and he character, but most importantly he taught the world like Ghandi did that you can overcome evil with good. Mother Theresa the catholic nun became great because of the many years she spent in leprosy settlements in Calcutta taking care of lepers, the forgotten and untouchable.
“Let me end by telling the last lesson I have learnt. It is that courage and determination is the answer to the tyranny of history. A history of personal failure can cripple your hope, limit your scope and frighten us into a small vision.. Our family history, the misery and deprivations of our beginnings, the shame and disgrace of the past, sometimes the spectacular failures of the past are the tyrannical weapons of history. Whipping us in line when we are thinking big, cutting us down to size as our self-esteem rises.
Our past, yelling unworthy! Unworthy! Unworthy! at us as we struggle to do right, live right, and act with dignity.”
“But history, we must remember, is not only a record of the past, it is the past, it is gone. Our future is not determined by history or the past unless we allow it. Your history is not your destiny. You have a chance to make your destiny.
I pray that you will achieve all that you desire, that the coming years will be easy and exciting and that the almighty God will help you by his grace and that your journey will be smooth.” http://googleweblight.com/i?u=http://lea.../&hl=en-NG

Meet The Woman Who Has Slept With Over 10,000 Men
[Image: SEX%2BWORKER.jpg]
Former prostitute who claims to have slept with more than 10,000 men has revealed the surprising things men will pay for as she tells women what blokes want in bed.
After more than a decade in the adult industry, Australian woman Gwyneth Montenegro, 39, has detailed her experience and sexual wisdom in a new book, 10,000 men and counting.
According to the UK Sn, Montenegro details how men prefer women with small boobs with a real feel - and in fact women of all shapes and sizes can be the centre of a man's attentions rather than the stereotypical glamour type.
"A little-known secret in the punting world, is that there are quite a lot of men who will actively seek out escorts who are not the hottest of the hot women and go for someone who isn’t as classically beautiful, because they feel shy and sometimes a little inadequate themselves," she said.
But following her 12 years in the sex industry she said most men didn't turn to her for "hardcore kinky sex" but because they felt threatened in their own relationships.
Gwyneth, 39, said a lot of her clients wanted to "feel masculine again".Gwyneth managed to sleep with 10,091 men and kept a journal recording every single one.
She said:

"I journalised it - it sort of started as a bit of a joke, I thought I'd write down my experiences to help me cope with it.
It's not something I set out to do but the cocaine and champagne high life is very addictive - then all of a sudden 12 years of your life is gone, just like that."

Her clients were described as mainly 'white collar businessmen' and although she added that around 90 per cent of them were married, Gwyneth claims she doesn't feel guilty as she 'probably saved their marriages'.
It's simple - men do not cheat if they are getting all the sex they want in the marriage.

Just because men get married, they don't turn off that part of them and if the woman does not put out for a long time, men can't turn off their biological desire to have sex."As one of my clients put it 'I love my wife so much I'm so in love with her but we don't have sex, I only have sex three times a year and I'm a red blooded man I can't deal with that'.
"Men don't cheat because they can, they cheat because they are satisfying their biological desire - this is not Pretty Woman - men don't leave their wife for an escort."

She coyly admits that one of her best ever clients in terms of performance, was actually an 84-year-old man.She said she is glad to be away from the industry and now teaches women how to "understand" men and make the most of their relationships.

7 amazing benefits of drinking water first thing in the morning
User Avatar Forum: Health Wise
Posted by: Edoman - 11-13-2017, 03:15 PM - No Replies

Since almost half of the body is made up of water, drinking several cups every day is one of the simplest ways to better your health and lifestyle. Notwithstanding, what you may not be aware of is that there is an easier way to enjoy the amazing benefits of water and improve your general well-being. All you have to do is to drink water after you wake up in the morning. It may sound so easy but many people do not do it. Perhaps after reading these benefits of drinking water in the morning shared by Jumia Travel, the leading online travel agency, you would imbibe the habit.
Deal with a headache
The human brain is made up of 85% water. So, if there is the absence of enough water in the brain, it can lead to serious headaches. You can drink water in the morning to stop these aches.
It rehydrates your body
When you wake up after a sleep marathon, your body will be dehydrated. No matter the amount of water you drank the previous day, your body will still lack water in the morning.
Ease menstrual pain
Every month, women suffer from cramps which can sometimes be unbearable. Drinking water helps to reduce the water retention in the vagina which causes cramps thus easing the pain.
Reduce arthritis
Your joints are filled out with fluid that can increase or decrease depending on your water intake. This fluid also reduces due to tough activities and ageing. Drinking water in the morning helps your body to restore fluid so that your joints can move freely.
Boost your kidney health
A kidney stone is a hard, crystalline mineral material formed within the kidney or urinary tract. Kidney stones are a common cause of blood in the urine and often severe pain in the abdomen. You can tackle kidney stone by downing lots of water, especially in the morning.
It’s absolutely refreshing
Gulping water after you wake up in the morning is absolutely refreshing and makes you feel good.
Get rid of unusable toxins
Water can assist in flushing toxins (a toxin is anything that damages the body) out of your body. This is because while you are asleep your body cleans itself, restores lost energy and balances hormones. After the cleanup, toxins and other waste materials will be released and wait to be flushed out. So, to clear these toxins, you should drink water in the morning.

Tonto Dikeh Explains Why It's Important To Go To Church
[Image: tonto%2Bd.png]
Nollywood actress and mother of one, Tonto Dikeh took to social media to explain why it's important to attend church service. The actress wrote;
*Good morning beautiful of God(ROR) *So Much To Learn In Church*
And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read (Luke 4:16). There’s so much to learn in church. Every church service you attend, the Spirit of God has something special planned for you. It’s an opportunity for your life to be improved. It’s therefore important that you cultivate the habit of attending church services. Attending church is like being in school. Imagine a student who isn’t consistent with his lectures in class, he’s very unlikely to make good grades.

I recall a certain gentleman, very well read and widely travelled. After two years of being consistent in church, he said to me, “I never knew I would discover and learn so much
in my life, just by coming to church.” There’re many things that we have to do in building our lives as Christians. For instance, how do we worship God? Jesus said, “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24). This means worship is very important to the Father, and He desires that we worship Him the right way. We have to find out what it means to worship Him in spirit and in truth. Such things are learned from the Word of God, when you go to church regularly. Then you’d be amazed at your growth, at your wisdom, at the way you relate with others, at the happenings in your life. You’ll know you’re growing; you’ll see your life go upward and forward.
Some Christians are always looking for someone to pray for them or counsel with them when there’s an issue. When you form the habit of fellowshipping with God and other faithful Christians, you’ll move out of that class, because you’ll have the knowledge of the Word of God that puts you over in life.

'Instagram President' Expected To Win As Slovenia Returns To Polls

Slovenia held a run-off election Sunday, with internet-savvy President Borut Pahor widely forecast to win a second term, although a low turnout could hand victory to his rival.

Centre-left ex-premier Pahor, 54, had been touted to win in October, but a record low 44-percent turnout triggered a repeat vote, with 1.7 million people called back to the ballot box.

Pahor, who took 47.1 percent in the first round, is up against Marjan Sarec, 39, a former comic actor and now a local mayor portraying himself as anti-establishment, who won 24.9 percent.

While analysts widely expect Pahor to win, they say low turnout Sunday could potentially deliver an upset and hand Sarec the presidency, a role that is largely ceremonial in the small EU country.

Polls published on Friday by the Dnevnik and Delo dailies put Pahor on 52-56 percent against 44-47 percent for Sarec.

Pahor has been rather defensive in the run-off, underlining his achievements, merits and friends, which has seemed unattractive,” analyst Miha Kovac said after a final televised debate on Thursday.

“That could turn against him, in particular if turnout is low,” he  said on state television.

Dubbed the “Instagram president” by the media, former model Pahor hiked around the country to campaign for re-election, chatting to supporters and posting photos and videos to his 40,000 Instagram fans.

However, his detractors call him “Barbie”, and Slovenia’s first president Milan Kucan accused Pahor of cheapening the role of head of state and using it for self-promotion.

Pahor stepped down as prime minister in 2011 after his government collapsed in the midst of the global financial crisis that drove eurozone member Slovenia close to needing a bailout.

But the following year he won a surprise victory in presidential elections as an independent backed by the Social Democrats, part of the ruling coalition of Prime Minister Miro Cerar.

Slovenia now boasts one of the EU’s most impressive growth rates, with four percent growth forecast for 2018.

Partial results in the former Yugoslav republic of two million people are expected from 7pm (1800 GMT).
