2000 fans destroy properties in Toronto after a show promoter duped them with Phyno and Olamide show
A show promoter who reportedly duped almost 200 fans with a Phyno and Olamideshow in Toronto, Canada, collecting $50/100 for the event, will have to pay for damages after fans destroyed properties because the artistes never showed up.
According to some of the fans, the show promoters planned the fraud, hence their anger. The excuse the show promoters gave was that Olamide is not feeling too well and Phyno is also down.
Police officers however arrived the scene of the incident to get everything in control.

After drinking pap with human parts, spirits will bring us money’ – Suspects

After drinking pap with human parts, spirits will bring us money’ – Suspects (Photo)
Despite the offensive odour from the blue plastic bucket that contained human parts, many still waited to hear what the suspects will say as the Oyo State Police Command paraded three people caught in possession of two fresh human heads and legs, as well as the alleged killer of a former member of the House of Assembly in the state.
The three young men informed the Police that their unbridled desires to get rich quick prompted them to get the human parts for money rituals.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abiodun Odude, during the parade, said the suspects were arrested by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Command on November 11, following a tip-off by a member of the public.
Odude added that the suspects confessed to have severed the body parts from corpses at a Muslim cemetery in Isale General Area of Ogbomoso.
The three arrested suspects are Alfa Kareem, 37; Bello, 22, and Adebayo Yusuf.
Confessions
One of the suspects, Kareem, noted that this was his first attempt at using human parts for money rituals.
The second suspect, Bello, said: “We went to Isale General at Ogbomoso to exhume the bodies at about 8p.m. On our way back, two inquisitive boys, who accosted us on the road, demanded to know where the offensive odour was from.
“We tried to deceive them, but they were insistent. So we had to run. They caught Kareem before the Police arrested us at our homes.”
Asked what they intended to do with the human parts, Taofeek said: “We wanted to use the parts for money rituals. If we had succeeded in taking them to our place, we would have dried and burnt them.
“After burning the parts, we will grind same to powdery substance and mix some of it with soap to take our bath in the morning and to take pap at night. After we have done this, some weird creatures, who we generally call spirits, will bring the money to us— usually at night.”
All of them, however, claimed it was the first time they would do such a thing.
Asked how they got the knowledge of the ritual, they remained evasive in their responses.

Lawmaker’s killer
The Police Command also paraded a runaway killer of a member of Oyo State House of Assembly, Gideon Aremu, representing Oorelope Constituency, July last year.
The commissioner said the suspect, who escaped to Ekiti, his country home, shortly after committing the act, had been on the Police wanted list.

His words: “Nemesis caught up with the suspect when he was arrested in his criminal hideout after sneaking into the state and led another robbery gang to snatch a motorcycle from its owner at Egbeda area of the state.”
The suspect, Arobiole, popularly called Judgment, did not deny when asked if he was the one that pulled the trigger.
‘How we killed him’
Narrating how he and two others committed the crime, Judgment said: “It was Toiheeb, who initiated the idea. The lawmaker was described as a very generous man, who always gave people in the neighbourhood money.
“We trailed him to his house and as he tried to alight from the car, we pointed guns at him. The lawmaker was surprised to see his neighbour among us. He held him by the shirt and said ‘Even you.’
“We collected his phone then I shot him because he was struggling with us. We thought since he knew one of us, he would expose us sooner or later. It was after we killed him that we knew he was a very important person in Oyo State.”

How To Start Waste Collection In Nigeria (Complete Report)

Waste collection in itself adds value to humanity and can be done as a business and make millions of dollars. With the right mindsets toward some information that regularly come our ways on a daily basis, if we can have them sifted properly and with our ego dropped by the side, the rate of poverty being encountered will be reduced to the barest minimum.

While Nigeria can boast of various self made millionaires, there are also millions of self made poverty stricken members of the society.

The problem with many people in Nigeria is pride and egotism which at times eats deep into our senses of belonging and deprive us chances of doing businesses that can actually bring us good money.

While different companies and offices are doing what they deem fit for the success of their businesses, employing in hundreds and sacking en mass, most of us are still busy gathering up our CVs and certificates and continuing without let up in search of office jobs whereas there are better paying jobs waiting to be done.
Identify The Opportunity In Waste Collection

Collected waste materials ready to be converted to wealth
Probably you are not aware that you can make over N500,000 a month supplying waste polythene nylons to waste recycling factories within the Nigerian states? The best part is that you can start waste collection business with no capital.

Instead of burning those pure water nylons and rubber containers or throwing some of the metals away, gathering them up and sourcing them out to recycling plants could make us millions of naira. Our attitude has to change.

There was an article in one of the daily Newspapers that talks about a recycling company in Nigeria that made about $65million from exporting metallic waste to oversea countries where the metals are used for manufacturing of cars, radiators, ship engines and so on.

Supplying of waste polythene and other wastes for recycling is a lucrative business, try it today and you will have good story to tell. The business is so lucrative that even government, companies and other recycling outfits would like to partner with you.

It is both fun and a caring. You make money by removing the pieces of irons that may hurt people within the environment, I don’t look at the money I make from the business as a salary or wages, I considers it as God’s blessings to me for doing what benefits people.

                                                                                       Waste collecting depot

The Benefit of Waste Collection Business

The benefits of starting waste collection business goes beyond personal to even adding values to the GDP and the economic growth of your country.

You can start by directly gathering the following items in any location of your choice and have it grown to bigger quantity. Things like: Shopping bags, laundry bags, pure water sachets, yogurt wrappers, soft poly bags, hospital drip bags, pop corn wrapper, bread wrapper, cellophane, etc.

Money is good and without it, doing anything could be near to impossible but money without the proper information lasts only for a while. You stand to make it continually in the waste collection business and would be helping others with your knowledge.

You can pay some children to be gathering all kinds of wastes for you. Continue doing it until it becomes big, take it to a recycling company and be ready to count your cash as it would be measured and paid for.

The Profit Potential In Waste Collection Business

Just position yourself as a waste collector ranging from polythene bags of different sources and have them supplied to a waste collection center operator who then process and shifts them to the company that does the recycling.

You can make between N50,000 to N500,000 monthly, doing this business. This is the breakdown:

A kilo of polythene sells between N45-N55.

If you can supply just 100kg per day for 25 days in a month that is  N50 x 100 kilos x 25 days = N125,000, that is if you are dealing with just polythene alone, but if you are into metal, your money goes up.

In all these, just as I have mentioned earlier, there is no start up capital needed except transportation if there is no recycling firm near you. Nigerians, there are more business for all us to get busy with and stop depending on others or waiting for the government to do things for us when we can actually do things on our own and pay the government with our surplus through tax.

Funke Akindele denies giving birth to twins in London
Contrary to social media reports, Famous actress cum filmmaker, Funke Akindele-Bello (Jenifa) has refuted giving birth to twins in a London hospital. She added it’s a figment of people’s imagination.
Speaking with encomium.ng via her publicist, Mr Biodun Kupoluyi, the Ikorodu, Lagos born thespian said,
“Don’t mind those people. They’re only imagining. You can not hide a pregnancy for long. And when you deliver, people must surely know. So, delivering a set of twins in London is not something one can hide at all.”
Meanwhile, the heavily pregnant Jenifa left the shores of Nigeria for the United Kingdom a few days ago which fueled speculations that the fantastic role interpreter has gone to deliver her expected set of twins in the queen’s land.

But only to be posted on November 22, 2017, that the Nollywood star has welcomed her set of twins. This has since been generating reactions both within and outside the industry, especially from her widespread fans home and abroad.

17-yr-old girl conspire with her soldier boyfriend, ‘kidnaps’ herself to extort N500,000 from grandmother in Imo
The Anti-kidnapping Unit of the Imo State Police Command has arrested a seventeen-year-old girl, Favour Vincent, who allegedly colluded with her boyfriend, Emeka Godwin, a serving army officer, to plan her own kidnap.
The police also arrested Favour’s immediate elder sister, Perpetua (19), alongside three other suspects – Amarachi Victor (22), Hygenius Ofoegbu (31), and Vitalis Opara (24).
They were paraded at the police command headquarters in Owerri, the state capital, by the Police Public Relations Officer, Andrew Enwerem.
Enwerem explained that while the five suspects were rounded up by the operatives of the command, the army officer who received the ransom had yet to be arrested.
The police spokesperson said, “Miss Favour Vincent, and his boyfriend (Godwin) conspired to fake her kidnap with the intent to collect a ransom of N5m from her Togolese grandmother.
The suspects eventually collected N500,000 as ransom which was received by the purported boyfriend army officer. He immediately fled with the money.
The command on receiving the news of the kidnap, made efforts to rescue the victim and arrested the suspects.”
Enwerem said that in the course of investigations, it was discovered that Favour and her elder sister, with the aid of the other suspects, planned, executed the kidnapping and successfully collected the ransom.

“The girl confessed to the crime and the command is on the trail of the purported army officer. Investigation is ongoing with a view to charging them to court.
The state commissioner of police, Chris Ezike, has equally charged the anti-kidnapping unit of the command to ensure that Godwin is arrested immediately.
Favour told Punch that she planned her kidnap in order to get money from her grandmother whom she accused of neglecting her and her siblings.
She said, “Our grandmother is very rich but she doesn’t take care of us. She gives money to outsiders but she refuses to give to us.
“My sister and I along with Emeka (Godwin) planned the kidnap. It was my boyfriend who received the N500,000. After he collected the money. He ran away and his phone line no longer went through.”

Suspicious that she was seeing another man, husband axed his wife 40 times before throwing her body away
[Image: husband%2Band%2Bwife.jpg]
A jealous husband has been found guilty of murdering his wife with an axe and dumping her body in a Lidl car park after suspecting she was having an affair.

Norbert Chikerema struck Nyasha Kahari, known as Gillian, more than 40 times and was today convicted of her death by a jury at Birmingham Crown Court.

The judge told Chikerema, a care home worker: “You have clearly been convicted of a very serious offence of which the sentence is life imprisonment.” During the trial, the court heard Chikerema, from Birmingham, and his wife ran a nursing home. The 42-year-old suspected the mum-of-four was seeing another man and had hired a private detective to follow her.

After killing the 35-year-old, he drove to a Lidl car park in Marston Green near Solihull, West Midlands, and was found in the parked vehicle beside his wife’s body.

Police officers discovered the victim with her seat belt still on. Prosecutor said the couple left their home in their Nissan car at around 7.30pm on January 29 to visit three addresses. The court was told the attack took place at around 11pm as they were due to return home.

Kevin Hegarty, QC, prosecuting, said: “When he attacked her, she was sitting in the front passenger seat of their Nissan car. He used an axe to strike his wife over and over again.

“The blows were aimed principally at her neck and her head. She died in the car with her seat belt on. She could not get away. She was strapped in the car and she was effectively defenceless.”

The jury was told the defendant tilted the passenger seat down and covered the body with a blanket before returning home to change his blood-stained clothes. He then used the axe to attack two cars of men he believed to be in relationships with his wife. Mr. Hegarty said Chikerema then drove the body to the car park at around 4am.

West Midlands Police Detective Inspector Paul Joyce, from Force CID, said: “Chikerema’s actions mean four children now have to live without their mother; a family has been tragically ripped apart and he will have to live with the consequences of his brutal attack forever.

“He suggested he was not of sound mind at the time of the killing and pleaded not guilty on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

“However, we demonstrated a degree of advanced planning − notably taking the axe out in the car that night − and the jury quickly found him guilty.”A tribute released on behalf of Ms Kahari’s family read: “Gillian was a decent, loving mother of four children, two boys and two girls. She was a caring and hardworking woman who always worked to keep her family happy. Gillian will be missed by her family and all those who knew her.”

2019: No Automatic Ticket For Atiku, Says PDP b
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-25-2017, 12:01 PM - No Replies

The Peoples Democratic Party has reacted to the resignation of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar from the ruling All Progressives Congress, saying he is now a free man.
It, however, said it would not offer Atiku an automatic ticket to contest the 2019 presidential election.
It said the former member of the Board of Trustees of the PDP had seen the light, which it said, necessitated his leaving the APC.
The former ruling party also called on other members of the APC to leave, saying the day the ruling party was formed “remains a dark day in the history of Nigeria.”
The spokesperson for the party, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, stated this in an interview with journalists in Abuja on Friday.
“The PDP is a democratic party. If you come in, you are free to contest elections once you meet our constitutional requirements, but we can’t give our ticket to anybody like that,” Adeyeye said.
Adeyeye said that the PDP had the capacity to accommodate anybody who wanted to be a member or wanted to return, but said such return must be without any condition.
According to him, “The PDP has the capacity to accommodate everybody. Our doors are open to him (Atiku) to come back to his home without any precondition.
“He is free to come back like every other Nigerian and we want to appeal to those who have not seen the truth and we are praying that they will soon see the truth, so that the truth will set them free. And as soon as they are free, let them come back.”
Atiku, who was one of the founding fathers of the PDP, once contested and won election as the governor of Adamawa State on the platform of the PDP.
But before he was sworn in, he was nominated by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo as his running mate and they were sworn in as President and Vice President on May 29, 1999. Again, they both ran in 2003.
Because of these facts, Adeyeye said Atiku remained a true PDP man to the core.
Adeyeye said it was unfortunate that in 2013, Atiku and others were deceived to leave the PDP, believing that there was a platform that would correct all the ills in the PDP and that it could create an Eldorado in Nigeria.
He said, “I believe Atiku and others were deceived because we had challenges in our party at that point in time, they went and joined the new party called the APC, which we have all now seen; every Nigerian has seen it’s a fallacy.
“The day APC was born marked a tragedy for Nigeria. It has been a monumental disaster for Nigeria. There is nothing progressive about them. Everything about them is unprogressive. Everything about them is a complete disaster.
“It is human to make mistakes because we are not infallible. We have no knowledge of what will happen in the future. Human beings can always be deceived. But in John 8:32, the Bible says ‘And you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.’
“I believe Atiku Abubakar has come to know the truth, like he said in the statement that he had now known the truth, that the APC is not what they call themselves, that it’s not a better platform. That platform is the worst platform in the history of politics in Nigeria.
“I believe that Atiku has seen the truth and the truth has now set him free and we thank God for that. Therefore, being a founding father and because we have an umbrella that is big enough to accommodate everybody, PDP is a democratic party. PDP is a free party and was conceived for all Nigerians and is free from all religious, ethnicity and geographical divisions.
“It has the capacity to accommodate everybody. Our doors are open for him to come back to his home without any precondition. He is free to come back like every other Nigerian and we want to appeal to those who have not seen the truth and we are praying that they will soon see the truth, so that the truth will set them free. And as soon as they are free, let them come back.”

Why Buhari Must Support Benue Anti-Grazing Law - Reps
User Avatar Forum: Politics

…Say we can’t be second class citizens in our fathers’ land
…Beg FG to establish Mobile Police Units at flash points
…We’ve lost over 5,000 Benue citizens
…Ask Buhari to call Miyetti Allah to order or…
APPARENTLY disturbed by the negative reactions of some groups after the establishment of the anti-grazing law in Benue State, the lawmakers from the state on Friday asked President Muhammadu Buhari to support the law to save the citizens from the menace of herders.
The lawmakers also sent a warning signal that if the members of Miyetti Allah group were not called to order, Benue citizens may be forced to defend themselves because they can’t be second class citizens in their own Father land.
Addressing a press conference at the National Assembly, Spokesman of the Benue Reps caucus, Rep John Dyegh in a statement entitled:
Why FG Must Support Implementation Of Anti-Open Grazing Law In Benue state said:
“This press conference is to sound a note of warning to those who have vowed to violate the law and cause crisis in the state.
“It is also to draw the attention of the Federal Government and make a passionate appeal to the President and Commander In Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammadu Buhari to grant full support to the Government of the State by giving a standing order to all security agencies to ensure maximum implementation of this wonderful piece of legislation.
“You are not unaware of the carnage and massive destruction visited on the peace-loving people of Benue by heartless terrorists operating under the cover of Fulani herdsmen for some years now.
“While this lasted, economic activities in the state were almost grounded as people abandoned their farms and businesses due to the ravaging activities of AK-47 bearing herdsmen, who constantly invaded their communities, destroyed farms, property, maimed and killed indiscriminately.
Dyegh continued, “the people of the state lived in constant fear of being attacked thereby forcing surviving victims of these dastard acts to abandon their homes.
“Our people are still living with the sordid memories of the massacre in virtually every nook and cranny of the state, particularly in Buruku, Guma, Tarka, Logo, Agatu, Gwer West and Gwer East etc. thousands of lives and property worth billions of naira have been lost to these inhuman actions of these so called Fulani herdsmen.
“Worried by the continued desecration of our land and a clear agenda to exterminate our people, the Benue State House of Assembly this year passed the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Bill, which was signed into law by the Governor, Dr. Samuel Ortom on May 22, 2017.
“Benue people should not be treated as second class citizens or aliens in their own country.
“We must state here clearly and emphatically that the people of Benue have a long standing history with the Fulani’s dating tp decades of peaceful co-existence.
“The Fulani’s we know and lived with for decades bore only sticks, machetes and perhaps Dane guns.
“They mingled freely with us and exchanged banters, attended the same markets. But the so called AK-47 carrying herdsmen we see today are not the Fulani’s we know.
“We believe they are foreigners perhaps from neighbouring West African countries. They are a blood thirsty group of Fulani’s whose stock in trade is to maim, destroy and terminate lives.
“The Federal Government must therefore live up to her responsibility of protecting life and property and support the full implementation of this law so that the largely agrarian people of Benue can resume their farming activities and sleep with their two eyes closed.
The implementation of the law took effect on November 1, 2017.
After reading his text, other members of the caucus gave a vivid account of the travails of their constituents.

Rhapsody of Realities Daily
TRAINING YOUR SPIRIT FOR SUCCESS
Saturday,November 25th.
Pastor Chris
For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life, that now is, and of that which is to come (1 Timothy 4:8).
In 1 Thessalonians 5:23, the Apostle Paul, by the Spirit, penned down a beautiful prayer for the saints. But something worthy of note is the order. Let’s read: “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” The spirit comes first, the soul second, and third, the physical body. This is the Spirit’s order, and that shows us why we ought to give premium to the development of our human spirit.
Sadly, many are only concerned about what takes place in their physical bodies, or how their minds function, losing sight of the most important—their spirit. God is much more concerned about your spirit. Proverbs 4:23 says, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” “Heart” is synonymous with the human spirit, and that verse tells us that’s where the issues of life emanate from.
Prosperity, health, wellness, peace, victory, joy, and every good thing you could ever imagine are all domiciled in your spirit. Can you see why you should rather give more time to the development of your spirit? Jesus said in Luke 6:45, “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good….”
Your heart—your spirit—is a treasure house of good things. The ideas and thoughts that’ll make you creative and excellent in all you do, are resident in your spirit. The highest potentials of the human nature are in his spirit.
So, keep educating your spirit with the Word. Do this through conscious study and meditation on the Scriptures. Fasting, prayer, and swiftly acting on spiritual instructions are also ways you train and exercise your spirit for success and excellence.
PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for your Spirit guides me in all things, and floods my heart with light that I may know and walk in your perfect will always. My faith prevails today, as I put your Word to work; your righteousness, and the forces of life within my spirit, are unleashed, and your glory is revealed in and through me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Reno Omokri Lampoons Mbaka, Bakare Over Silence On Corruption Cases
User Avatar Forum: Politics

Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide has attacked Fr. Ejike Mbaka and Pastor Tunde Bakare over their silence in the wake of the exposure of several corruption cases under the Muhammdu Buhari Administration.
Omokri, while reacting to the joint denial of the AGF, Abubakar Malami, Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazzu and Head of Service, Winifred Oyo-Ita on the reinstatement and authorisation of Former pensions boss, Abdulrasheed Maina into the civil service.
Reno wondered if a ghost was responsible for reinstating Maina adding that Men of God have become 'quiet' because Buhari is in power. He stated;
"If the AGF, Head of Service and a minister all denied reinstating Maina under a Jonathan government, it wouldn’t have taken 24 hours for Mbaka, Tunde Bakare and Tinubu to slam the government. But because it is Buhari, they are all quiet!
The Attorney General of the Federation, The Minister of Internal Affairs, the Head of Service and the Civil Service Commission all deny reinstating Maina. So who reinstated him? A ghost? An unknown power? The Buhari administration has lots of explaining to make.
According to the Senate, the present EFCC is guilty of relooting. If you don’t know what relooting is, it is simply seizing the property of a person accused of looting and then looting it yourself. Welcome to the new Nigeria under Muhammadu Buhari."

Atiku: Panic in APC over looming mass defection
There is now a great tension in the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, over the sudden exit of one of its Chieftains and a one time Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who announced the resignation of his membership from the party on the early hours of yesterday
It was gathered that already no fewer than seven state Governors, serving ministers, several law makers in the both Chambers of the National Assembly as well as others holding key positions in the government and the party have concluded plans to dump the Party to follow the former Vice President who is believed to bew heading to his former Party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
A very close source to the former Vice President to the Saturday Tribune in Abuja yesterday that bearing last minutes change, Atiku has concluded plans to storm the National Secretariat of the PDP, popularly known as WADATA PLAZA, Wuze Zone 5, Abuja, in the first week of December this year in a grand style along with his suppoters after he must have declared for the Party, in Yola, Adamawa State.
Saturday Tribune gathered that the exit of Atiku on Friday morning after months, weeks, days and hours of speculations of his possibility of leaving the Party sent fears into the various camps and groups in the Party as well as the Presidency and the Party and its likely adverse effects on the party ahead of the 2019 General elections.
” We are not comfortable with the sudden exit of Atiku Abubakar, honestly we were are not unaware of his grievances and it is the these are being looked into at the appropiate quarters that he decides to leave?
” Definitely his exit will shake our Party because he has his followers he brought while coming into the Party and within the time he stayed he actually made more followers
” we only pray that the party will be able to manage his exit so that this would not have bandwagon effect on the Party now that the Party is yet to hold its Nationa Convention and 2019 General elections are fasting approaching “, a National officer told the Saturday Tribune while reacting to the exit.
It was gathered that series of meetings and consultations among his supporters and loyalists across the country and across the various Political parties have making going on how to move enmass along with him whichever Political Party he Would be joining ahead of the 2019

Breaking News: Atiku Decams From APC

Breaking News:
ATIKU DECAMPS FROM APC
Read statement of resignation below:
Statement of resignation of His Excellency Atiku Abubakar (Waziri Adamawa) Vice President of Nigeria, 1999-2007 from the All Progressives Congress
On the 19th of December, 2013, I received members of the All Progressives Congress at my house in Abuja. They had come to appeal to me to join their party after my party, the Peoples Democratic Party, had become factionalized as a result of the special convention of August 31, 2013.
The fractionalization of the Peoples Democratic Party on August 31, 2013 had left me in a situation where I was, with several other loyal party members, in limbo, not knowing which of the parallel executives of the party was the legitimate leadership.
It was under this cloud that members of the APC made the appeal to me to join their party, with the promise that the injustices and failure to abide by its own constitution which had dogged the then PDP, would not be replicated in the APC and with the assurance that the vision other founding fathers and I had for the PDP could be actualized through the All Progressives Congress.
It was on the basis of this invitation and the assurances made to me that I, being party-less at that time, due to the fractionalization of my party, accepted on February 2, 2014, the hand of fellowship given to me by the All Progressives Congress.
On that day, I said "it is the struggle for democracy and constitutionalism and service to my country and my people that are driving my choice and my decision" to accept the invitation to join the All Progressives Congress.
Like you, I said that because I believed that we had finally seen the beginnings of the rebirth of the new Nigeria of our dreams which would work for all of us, old and young.
However, events of the intervening years have shown that like any other human and like many other Nigerians, I was fallible.
While other parties have purged themselves of the arbitrariness and unconstitutionality that led to fractionalization, the All Progressives Congress has adopted those same practices and even gone beyond them to institute a regime of a draconian clampdown on all forms of democracy within the party and the government it produced.
Only last year, a governor produced by the party wrote a secret memorandum to the president which ended up being leaked. In that memo, he admitted that the All Progressives Congress had "not only failed to manage expectations of a populace that expected overnight ‘change’ but has failed to deliver even mundane matters of governance".
Of the party itself, that same governor said "Mr. President, Sir Your relationship with the national leadership of the party, both the formal (NWC) and informal (Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso), and former Governors of ANPP, PDP (that joined us) and ACN, is perceived by most observers to be at best frosty. Many of them are aggrieved due to what they consider total absence of consultations with them on your part and those you have assigned such duties."
Since that memorandum was written up until today, nothing has been done to reverse the treatment meted out to those of us invited to join the All Progressives Congress on the strength of a promise that has proven to be false. If anything, those behaviours have actually worsened.
But more importantly, the party we put in place has failed and continues to fail our people, especially our young people. How can we have a federal cabinet without even one single youth.
A party that does not take the youth into account is a dying party. The future belongs to young people.
I admit that I and others who accepted the invitation to join the APC were eager to make positive changes for our country that we fell for a mirage. Can you blame us for wanting to put a speedy end to the sufferings of the masses of our people?
Be that as it may be, after due consultation with my God, my family, my supporters and the Nigerian people whom I meet in all walks of life, I, Atiku Abubakar, Waziri Adamawa, hereby tender my resignation from the All Progressives Congress while I take time to ponder my future.
May God bless you and may God bless Nigeria.

Each of the states will get N800m, totalling N28bn to meet their salaries and other obligations.
The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udoma, disclosed this to State House Correspondents on Thursday at the end of a meeting of the National Economic Council presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Udoma said the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun; and the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, had been directed to effect payments.
Udoma said the Accountant General of the Federation reported to Council that approval had been received and CBN had been directed to pay N800 million to each of the 35 states of the Federation.
Only Lagos State is not taking the loan.
The minister said, “The Accountant General reported to the council that approval has been received and CBN has been directed to pay N800m to each of the 35 states of the federation.
“Governors expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for the restoration of the Budget Support Loan Facility for July and August 2017.”
Adeosun also informed the council that the country recorded the highest amount of Value Added Tax in October with over N89bn.
She added that the target was N120bn monthly.

The scheme will offer amnesty to all tax defaulters.
The Executive Vice-Chairman of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure was also said to have briefed the council about an homegrown proposal to the Independent National Electoral Commission for the replacement of the card readers in the conduct of elections in the country.
The proposal is a made-in-Nigeria “Solar-Powered Electronic Voting System” to effectively mitigate current electronic woes.
The same proposal which has already been presented to INEC is also expected to be presented to the National Assembly.
The balance in the Excess Crude Account as of November 17 was put at $2,309,693,583.35, while the Stabilisation Fund Account was put at N6,689,072,836.11.

The council also discussed the audit of revenue generating agencies.
The NEC was informed that some of the agencies granted some “questionable loans.”
Out of the 18 agencies that were audited, the committee had completed work on 13 agencies; work is still ongoing in two while three are not revenue generating.
The 13 agencies where work has been completed include NIMASA, NNPC, NPA, FIRS, NPDC and DPR.
The two outstanding are Nigeria Customs Service and NCC.
Osinbajo, however, directed the committee to conclude its report under four weeks and report back to council at the next meeting.
Udoma also briefed the council on the growth being experienced in the economy.
He said, “Signs of recovery had been observed since Q3 2016 and the recovery consolidated in Q3 2017 with GDP doubling to 1.40 per cent Non-oil GDP contracts in Q3 2017 by 0.76 per cent after growing in Q1 R Q2 2017.
“While the Services sector is still in the negative, the Manufacturing Sector grows negative in Q3 2017 also.
“Due to high inflationary pressures Household consumption expenditures remain constrained, though it appears such pressure is easing. Headline inflation has declined since January reflecting tight monetary policy. Food price increases have remained persistent but slowing down.
“The total value of capital importation at the end 2017 of Q3 stood at $4.14bn (131.3 per cent growth year on year).”

  Presidency Resumes Talks With Senate

Senate confirms 2 RECs, reject 1
The presidency has opened discussions with the Senate leadership over the refusal of the upper chamber to confirm the head of the country’s anti-graft agency.
The Senate twice refused to confirm Ibrahim Magu as the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
But the government has kept Magu in office in acting capacity for over one year now.
This has, however, drawn the ire of the Senate which has stood down nearly all nomination requests from the Presidency until Magu is removed.
Sources told Daily Trust yesterday that the Presidency has reached out to the Senate in order to find a middle ground upon which the dispute could be resolved.
A meeting to that effect was held on Monday with both parties, our sources said.
Presidency and Senate sources said, at the moment, confirmation of close to 50 nominees of the president is pending.
Confirmation of nominees for the Deputy Governor and four members of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Pension Commission (PenCom), Code of Conduct Bureau (CBB), Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC), Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) among others, are pending.
Contacted, Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly (Senate),
Senator Ita Enang confirmed that the presidency has resumed talk with the Senate.
“We are not resting on our oars; we are conducting the best and highest level of diplomacy. We have started talking again; we have changed the tone of our speaking. We are arriving at something like a middle ground that would be satisfactory to all parties.
“So long that these appointments stand unconfirmed, foreign investment, funding from foreign partners and governance are being affected. We are not attacking, we are engaging and I believe in the next few days, the result will be evidenced and we will come out of it,” he said.
Asked whether the executive has agreed to sack Magu, Enang said: “We are working with them and we are arriving at some solutions “.
When our correspondent asked him to list the number of pending confirmation, he said: “We have nominees for NERC, CBN, Pension Commission, NDIC, NDDC among others.”
Again when asked on whether the executive has agreed to implement the resolution on Magu, he repeated: “We are arriving at some solutions “.
Meanwhile, the Senate yesterday confirmed the nomination of Rufus O. Akeju (Lagos) and Mohammed Isah (Kebbi) as Resident Electoral Commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The confirmation followed the consideration of the report of Senate committee of INEC on the screening chaired by Senator Suleiman Nazif (APC,Bauchi). The Senate approved the recommendation of the committee rejecting Ahmad Bello Mahmud ( Zamfara).
The confirmation came five months after 12 other nominees (RECs) had been confirmed. Our correspondent reports that Senator Tijjani Kaura (APC, Zamfara) and Senator Kabiru Marafa clashed over the Zamfara nominee.
While Marafa was in favour of the confirmation of the nominee, Kaura objected to it on the grounds that the (nominee) was not from Zamfara state. He said the nominee is from Sokoto state.

The Senate, yesterday, directed its ad hoc committee investigating the reinstatement and promotion of the former Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina, to also probe a fresh allegation that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) re-looted about 222 mansions recovered by Maina. But the anti-graft agency faulted the claims of missing seized houses.
Senator Emmanuel Paulker (PDP, Bayelsa), who rose through a point of order to make the allegation at plenary, said that information reaching the ad hoc committee in the course of its on-going investigation on Mainagate, indicated that about 222 recovered property, comprising exotic houses and hotels handed over to EFCC by Maina before his removal as the chairman of Presidential Taskforce in 2014, had been shared by top officials of the EFCC or interested parties in the society.

He told the Senate that his committee got wind of the looted property from submissions made by some of the invited government officials connected with the reinstatement and promotion of Maina. Paulker, therefore, prayed the Red Chamber to expand the scope of the ad hoc committee’s investigation in unravelling those who were involved in the inglorious re-looting act.
He said: “For this alarming revelation sir, this committee requests the Senate to expand the scope of its investigation on Maina by extending it to the management of assets recovered by him and handed over to EFCC before his removal as Chairman, Presidential Task Team on Pensions in 2014 and by so doing, extend the duration of the assignment.”
The President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, subjected the request to voice vote, and it was overwhelmingly supported by the lawmakers. In his remarks, Saraki tasked the committee to do everything possible in unravelling those behind the alleged re-looting of the property and report back in four weeks.
“This is a very serious matter and more of large scale corruption going on in a forbidden place. We just hope that it remains at the realm of allegation and not as it is presented,” he said.

The Paulker-led committee had, in the last two weeks, had close-door sessions with the Attorney- General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN); the Minister of Interior, General Abdulrahaman Dambazau (rtd); and Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission, Mustapha Sulaiman among others, on their roles in the reinstatement and promotion of Maina in the Federal Civil Service, after three years of disappearance from the public space on alleged mismanagement of pension funds.
Meanwhile, the EFCC last night denied the allegation of missing 222 houses. In a statement late last night, the EFCC faulted the comments attributed to Paulker, alleging that officials of the Commission shared 222 properties which Maina’s Panel seized from pension fund thieves.
The commission described the comment as “sweeping allegation,” which coming from a Senate Committee “is disturbing more so as no attempt was made to verify the information from the Commission.”

The statement signed by the agency’s Head of Media, Wilson Uwujaren, said that the EFCC was never invited by the Committee and given the opportunity to educate it on the status of assets seized from suspected pension thieves.
“Yet, the Committee was comfortable to scandalize the EFCC with the public disclosure of unverified claims by unknown interests. “For the avoidance of doubt, there are no 222 properties anywhere that were shared by anybody. The EFCC did not receive a single property from Abdulrasheed Maina.
All the pension fraud assets that are in the recovered assets inventory of the Commission were products of independent investigation by the EFCC, for which Maina and his cohorts had no clues.

“If Maina or any government official witnessed the sharing of any recovered pension assets by any official of the EFCC, they should be willing to name the official, the assets involved; when and where the ‘sharing’ took place.” The EFCC added: “As far as the EFCC is concerned, there is no controversy regarding the status of assets recovered from suspected pension thieves.
The record of all the recovered assets from both the Police Pension and the Pension Office of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation as well as their current status are intact, and have been communicated to the relevant organs of government.
“However, in view of the consistent display of public ignorance about the profile of recovered assets by even those who should know, it is important to state that it is impossible for anybody to share a property that is subject of interim forfeiture by court.
Of all the properties seized from pension fraud suspects, it is only properties that are linked to John Yusuf, who was convicted under a plea bargain arrangement that had been forfeited permanently and handed to government. All the others, with the exception of Brifina Hotel, are subject of interim forfeiture. And the cases are ongoing in courts.”\

You can make over 1 million naira this season storing and reselling red palm oil and I am going to show you exactly how to do it. It’s not difficult at all; in fact it is one of the easiest business you can do in Nigeria and make quick money within four months. I happen to know places in Nigeria where you can get this product at cheap prices and place where you can sell it at good price, I am going to make everything clear to you on this post…

What is Red Palm Oil? Red palm oil is natural oil extract from palm three fruit. You and I knows the importance of red palm oil in Nigeria. No home that doesn’t cook with it and no tribe or religion that forbids it. It is generally accepted and widely used, not only in Nigeria but around the world.

Using palm oil for cooking has greater health benefits over the vegetable oil as it is said to have high concentration of vitamin E in the finest proportion. Your body tends to get better health benefits as a result of the vitamin E present in the red palm oil rather than taking a commercial vitamin E capsule. It is also rich in carotene and possess strong healing power.

Palm oil is one of the commodity constantly in high demand in Nigeria. There is never a time it wouldn’t be a hot cake in the market and it is consumed at the same rate as rice and garri. Palm oil is currently sold in Lagos and other major cities across the country at N6,000 for 25liters but if you go to the farm areas where it is produced in quantity, you can get the same 25liters at N4,000.

There are even a time of the year you may get this product at N2,500 – N3,000 per 25litres. If you can get it in quantity during the time of surplus and store it for some months, you will sell at 100% profit.   Top 10 Lucrative Farming In Nigeria That is Profitable
User Avatar Forum: Agriculture/Food Processing

Farming in Nigeria has taken a dramatic turn to a better direction in recent years, creating jobs and opportunities for entrepreneurs who dare to go into farming business. Millionaires are currently being made every year through farming in Nigeria and there is certainly no end to the prospects of creating more wealth through farming in the coming years.

There are good reasons why farming in Nigeria is doing very well. Understanding these reasons will help you (no matter where you come from) to think seriously about setting up farm in Nigeria.
1) There is no any other African country where Farming is as viable as it is in Nigeria in terms of productivity and profitability.

2) There is no other country where farmers are more advantaged as they are in Nigeria as regards demands for the produce. Take a look at my top five reasons why you must start Farming in Nigeria now.

Why Farming In Nigeria?

(1) Nigeria has a huge population of over 200 million people, twice more than the populations of Zimbabwe and South Africa combined. The entire population of Nigeria depends on staple foods produced from farms and other farm produces for their daily meals and sustenance. More than 80 percent of Nigerians buy their farm produce from the market.

(2) Nigeria has large expanses of fertile farmlands laying fallow across the nation. Nigerian land area when measured in sq km is about 910,770. The land area of any country is the country’s total area, excluding areas that are considered to be water bodies. So, Nigeria has one of the biggest expanse of Land in Africa of which 70 percent is available for farming.

(3) Nigerian Government is seriously turning its attention to promoting farming in Nigeria to help boost food productions in the country and minimize food importation. The government is willing to assist any would be farming entrepreneur/investors with the necessary supports and logistics.

(4) Nigerians boasts the highest purchasing power in Africa, far more than any other indigenous Africans. We buy things here and we pay cash. Talk about parties, Nigeria is the most merriment people on earth. The food used for parties and merriment in Nigeria can feed four other African countries.

(5) By the time Nigeria attain its full capacity utilization is agriculture, farming will become great foreign currency earner more than the oil. The implication is that Nigerian farmers will be able to earn in Naira and in Dollars as well as other foreign currencies.

List of Lucrative Farming in Nigeria

The prospect for farming in Nigeria is so high that only a fool will ignore it. Having said that, let’s take a closer look at some of the types of Farming that does very well in Nigeria.

1. Rice Farming

Nigeria has one of the world’s highest Rice consumption stat. Rice is by far one of the most popular staple food among Nigerians. Almost every family eats rice daily in Nigeria. In 2011 alone, Nigeria spent N991billion on rice importation and the rice we import is said to be nothing less than 10 years old in storage. That means we spent billions buying rice that has since lost its nutritional values.

Any entrepreneur who goes into rice farming and get it right is sure to be smiling to the bank. A bag of rice is currently sold for N13,000 to N16,000 depending on the quality. A farmer who is able to invest in large scale rice production in Nigeria and able to produce 100,000 Bags of processed Rice in a year, sell at wholesale price of about N10,000 per bag, he will be making 10,000 x 100,000 = N1,000,000,000 ($3million)

You can achieve the above figures conveniently with less than five hundred and fifty million Naira ($1.5 Million) capital investment. I am currently looking for who to partner with in this. If you have the cash, I have the logistics and good planning to achieve this result. Serious investors only!

2. Cassava Farming

The popularity of cassava as the major source of food for Nigerians dates back to ages. Between Garri and Rice, it is hard to tell which one is the most popular food in Nigeria. Both are the most consumed food staples among the citizen. I think if one is the King the other should be the Queen.

A bag of Garri costs almost the same as a bag of rice. Apart from garri, there are countless of other food stuffs that are processed from Cassava in Nigeria. The introduction of the high yield species of Cassava has made it possible for Nigerian cassava farmers to produce more cassava per plot. Nearly every land in Nigeria is good for growing Cassava and 1 Acre, when properly planted and managed can produce thousands of Naira worth of cassava in a year!

3. Plantain Plantation

One thing I like about Plantain is that when planted once, it keeps producing year in year out for eternity. Like Rice and Garri, Plantain is widely consumed in Nigeria. Any food that is popular in Nigeria is always a huge income earner due to the population of the country.

I really haven’t seen Farmers in Nigeria taking advantage of the opportunity in Plantain Farming to create wealth for themselves. Plantain is highly priced in Nigeria and is always in high demand all year round. Fry it, Boil it, Roast it — it will never get angry with you, that’s how liberal Plantain is. I can tell you, Millions of Naira is currently lying fallow untapped in this sector of Farming in Nigeria.

4. Poultry Farming

Everyone knows how profitable poultry farming is, it doesn’t need much introduction. Yet, it is still not fully tapped. What we currently have is few badly managed, scantily equipped poultry farms here and there. I’m yet to see a full fledged, high tech poultry farm except Obasanjo Farm.

Entrepreneur who is able to fire up serious investment into this sector will have huge profit to contend with. The reason is because Nigerians eat chicken more than snakes does and 70% of our consumption still based on importation. The egg is yet another goldmine!

5. Pineapple Farming

Money is sweet, everything sweet is money, and Pineapple is sweet. Ask any Australian Farmer and he will tell you how huge the income in Pineapple farming is in their country. Any juice maker that doesn’t have Pineapple flavor variety in his product line is not yet in business. That tells you how popular Pineapple is, not only in Nigeria but worldwide.

Nigeria seems to have better soil for Pineapple Farming than Australia where Farmers are making it big in the business. A Pineapple sells in Mile-12 market in Lagos for about N200. If you are able to harvest one million in a year, you will earn at least N80 x 1,000,000 = N80,000,000

6. Beans Farming

A bag of Beans cost twice more than a bag of Rice and Garri. The Northern Nigerians are making it big in Beans Farming, supplying almost all over Nigeria and beyond. But one thing is that, this same Beans also can do very well in the South East, South West, and South South Nigeria soils. So why only the North?

7. Catfish Farming

Catfish Business is really hyping in Nigeria right now but how many are really getting it right? Get it right and you’re in money. A single Catfish sells for N700 in Restaurants and about N400 in open market.

8. Goat Rearing

Its only in the North that goat is reared in commercial quantity. I don’t know why we are so looking down on farm investment in the South even though there are millions to be made in this business. Why would you chose to sell used shoes in Oshodi and make few thousands of Naira every year when you could engage in productive farming business and make millions of Naira?

In The USA and Australia, Farmers are among the Richest people – Get involved in professional goat rearing and make money for yourself. A full grown goat sells for between N15,000 to N40,000

9. Snail Farming

I see Snail Farming really picking up in Nigeria very soon — but if you don’t hurry up, others will make all the money before you realize what you are missing.  The potential in this business for you is about N50,000,000 Annual revenue.

10. Maize Farming

You will never know the profit in Maize Farming in Nigeria until you try it. One thing I like about maize is that everything happens fast. It takes less than Four months between planting and harvesting.
Get involved in any of these farming business in Nigeria today and you will never regret it. Drop us a comment if you are in support of farming business in Nigeria.

KWARA State police command has arrested a 25-year old herbalist with seven human skulls.

Parading the suspect, among other suspected criminals in Ilorin on Thursday, the commissioner of police, Lawan Ado, said that the herbalist was arrested along Ilorin-Ajase Ipo road with a sack containing the seven human heads.

He said that the suspect had confessed to have exhumed the head-having a Muslim cemetery located at Igbo Owu community in the Ifelodun local government area of the state on Tuesday.

The police boss, who said that the suspect had allegedly exhumed the heads for ritual purpose, added that the police was in the trail of the second suspect who together with the suspect had committed the offense.

He said that the suspect would soon be charged to court as soon as the investigation was concluded on the matter.

During his interrogation, the suspect said that the escaped suspect initiated him into the crime, adding that they meant to use the seven human skulls for the money-making ritual.

The state police command also paraded five other suspects, including a serving Nigerian Army sergeant who was allegedly caught for theft of a brand new green colour Land Rover jeep belonging to minister of state for Niger Delta, Professor Claudius Daramola.

The police commissioner, who described the suspect as an interstate armed robbery gang, said that the suspects had stolen the vehicle at the residence of the professor at Tanke area of Ilorin metropolis.

He said that the suspects, arrested along Ilorin-Ajase Ipo road by a team of Safer Highway operatives of the command, had earlier been alerted to the movement of the gang.

The police boss said that the military man and the other suspects had confessed to the crime, described the military man as a deserter.

Mr Ado also paraded three-man robbery gang, who allegedly specialised in using their taxi cab to snatch exotic cars in the Ilorin metropolis.

The police boss, who said that the gang usually used their taxi cab to overtake and force their target to stop before dispossessing victims of their vehicles, added that the suspects had been suspected cattle rustlers before graduating to car snatching.

Fashola: Plans To Reintroduce Toll Gates Nationwide Concluded
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-24-2017, 11:46 AM - No Replies

Quote:Babatunde Fashola, minister of power, works and housing, says the federal government has concluded the plan to reintroduce toll gates on various highways across the country.

He said this on Thursday while speaking at an interactive session with the senate committee on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA).

Fashola said they would be reintroduced in 38 points across the roads.

He added that the toll gates would be brought back after the completion of the highways.

“We have concluded plans to reintroduce tollgates across the country,” Fashola said.
“It will be managed by the private sector and it will be located in the old places.

Thirty-eight points across the country.
“We are only waiting for the completion of those roads before we introduce the toll gates.”

The minister added that road users would be able to pay for toll on the roads through their phones, and that the money realised would be used for the maintenance of the roads.

He also said the federal government does not intent to ask road users “to pay toll on a road that is not good.”

“While the construction (of gates) is going on, we are working on the design. We want to standardise the design so that people when we ask people to come and bid for the construction, we can control what they are going to construct,” he said.

“They are going to construct the materials we have prescribed. We can also control the price so that nobody is bidding with disparage prices; there will be the floor and the ceiling. Your price will vary according to how many plazas you build and not because you claim to have used ‘foreign’ materials.

“The last part we are working on is the software that drives the management, audit, and payment of toll fares.”

South-South & South-East Roads Worst In The Country — FG
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-24-2017, 11:37 AM - No Replies

ABUJA—IN what appeared to be a self assesment, the Federal Government, yesterday, scored itself and came to a conclusion that the worst roads in the country were located in the South-South and South-East geopolitical zones.

Disclosing this, yesterday, in Abuja when he appeared before the Senate Committee on Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, FERMA, headed by Senator Magnus Abe, Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, who noted that some of the major federal roads in the 11 states were constructed before the 1967-1970 Nigerian Civil War, said that efforts were being put in place to fix the roads.

Fashola told the senators that the N100 billion sourced through the Sukuk bond, was yet to be released to his Ministry to carry out 25 major road construction projects in the six geopolitical zones of the country. Chairman of FERMA committee, Senator Abe, noted that senators who are the true representatives of the people were usually sidelined by heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Federal Government when mulling siting of projects.

He said: “As elected representatives of the people, if the Federal Government is doing anything in your areas, our inputs are hardly needed. We will then have to fight for relevance. “We are meeting you because of the challenges FERMA, which is under your supervision, is facing. Is this agency relevant in your scheme of things in your ministry? We need you to touch on the core challenges of this agency.” On his part, Fashola said: “When we did the audit of our roads, we discovered that some sections are bad. Many roads have outlived their lifespans. Many roads in the South-East and South South were built before the civil war. They are among the worst in the country.

They need to be replaced. “Funds generated from Sukuk have not been released because of the conditions tied to them. We will try and repair the roads before people start travelling for the festivities in December. We are doing something about that.” On the Challenges facing FERMA, Fashola said: “One of the reccurring stories of under performance which we inherited is that of ministerial interference. We have tried to supervise without interfering. As best as possible, we try not to. “I have tried to enable government see what it is spending in each of the parastatals under my ministry. In the past, FERMA spent money on areas it had no business with. That has to stop.

If you allocate money and it is spent on local government roads, it means something is wrong. The core mandate of FERMA is to repair federal roads. “FERMA can be the largest construction company in the country. It depends on what we are willing to put into the agency. In the past, FERMA collected monies for roads they did not construct. That has to stop in this government. “We are working with the Army Corps to see how we can develop local content. The unemployment challenges we have can be reduced if FERMA is busy in every state.”

  • minced garlic
  • red pepper flakes
  • tomatoes paste
  • can crushed tomatoes
  • fresh tomatoes
  • black pepper
  • chopped parsley
  • chopped basil
  • salt
  • sugar
[size=undefined]

Lets cook
1. In a bowl combine the breadcrumbs, minced meats, eggs, a lot of the grated Parmesan cheese, some parsley, basil, garlic, black pepper, red chili, onion powder and salt.
2. Get your hands in there and get dirty. Mix all the ingredients together.
3. Mold small balls out of the mixture and place on a flat tray, when you are done put it in the freezer for a few minutes just to make the meatballs stick solidly together.
4. Heat up equal amount of vegetable oil and olive oil in a big skillet or pan large enough to hold the sauce.
5. When the oil is hot. Very carefully, in batches, place the meatballs in the oil and brown them well on all sides over medium-low heat, turning carefully with a spatula or fork . Don't crowd the pan.  Remove the meat balls when they are brown on both sides not totally cooked because they will get cooked inside the sauce. Put it on a paper tower.
6. After removing the meatballs. Pour onions and garlic, stir it for a couple of minutes. Add the crushed tomatoes, tomatoes paste, fresh diced tomatoes, parsley, basil, black pepper and pepper flakes, salt and a little sugar to balance the acidity. Let the sauce cook for about 15 -20 minutes.
7. Carefully add the meatballs, and stir them into the sauce. Allow the sauce to simmer for about 20 minutes. The yummy juices inside the meatballs will work their way into the sauce. Stir the sauce gently a couple of times.
8. Your spaghetti should be ready by now. Serve with the sauce on the spaghetti grate Parmesan cheese generously on top and enjoy.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

FRIDAY, 24TH NOVEMBER.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨ True Confession Of The Word✨

I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession (1 Timothy 6:13).

The word “Confession” here, is translated from the Greek word “Homologia,” which means to speak the same thing in consent. Confessing the Word means you agree with, and say what the Word of God says about you, Himself, your world or anyone or situation.

Why is it so important that we confess the Word boldly? It’s because our confessions are or create realities. Jesus said, “You shall have what you say” (Mark 11:23). What are the things you’re supposed to say? They’re the same things God has already declared in Scriptures.

Hebrews 13:5-6 says, “…for he hath said…So that we may boldly say….” The reason He said what He said is so that we may boldly say the same thing. God’s Word isn’t for you to hear and be quiet; you respond by saying the same thing. That’s true confession of the Word. God gave you the Word so you’ll boldly proclaim it.

Someone might ask, “Must I say it?” Emphatically yes! Otherwise, you’ll never experience the vital reality of the Word of God in your life. It’s the way to get your spirit to take a hold of the Word to become a reality in your life. The Christian life is lived by words; it’s for talkers; talkers of the Word. Perhaps you know someone who’s been attacked by cancer, diabetes or any kind of sickness; advise them not to keep quiet! They should have “talking sessions.” You say, “What if they’re too weak to talk?” Let them mutter or even whisper: “I have the life of God in me; the Spirit that raised up Jesus from the dead lives in me; therefore, my whole body is vitalized and energized with divine life. No sickness can stay in my body. The presence of God’s Spirit destroys every trace of sickness and disease in my body.”

If they mutter it long enough, it’ll turn into a shout, and soon enough they’ll bounce off that sickbed. God’s Word is medicine. It cures every infirmity and keeps you in divine health.

Prayer
Dear Lord, thank you for the victorious and prosperous life I have in Christ. I live in health and in glory every day, because of your grace and righteousness in me. You’ve blessed me in all things, and with all things; therefore, I’m forever grateful! I’m guided by your wisdom to walk in, and fulfil your perfect will for me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Mark 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

1 Timothy 6:13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and [before] Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has denied sending a letter to the Office of the Head of Service demanding the recall of the former chairman of presidential pension task team, Abdulrasheed Maina.

Mr. Malami said the last letter he “remembered” was dated January 19, 2017 and was meant to bring attention to all that was happening to Mr
Maina.
He said “as at February 21, 2017, the letter giving clear directives of his reinstatement couldn’t have genuinely emanated from my office”.

Veteran actor is set to leave for the UK for treatment

On September 7, 2017, it became public knowledge that Sadiq Daba has Leukemia.
Months later, the veteran is now set to be flown to the United Kingdom for his treatment.
This was revealed by veteran broadcaster Soni Irabor, who alongside Joe Odumakin, has been soliciting for pubic support for the veteran.
He wrote:
"It’s time to say thanks to you all; Sadiq Daba is set to move out for the UK where he will start treatment. While we say thanks, we say please let’s not be stuck midway with this, we still need more from you.
The account is still up and we look forward to receiving from you. God bless you."
Daba found out about his ailment toward the end of 2015, after he thought he had malaria and went to a hospital in Abuja for a test.
Daba has been living on a drug called Gleevec, which costs about 1.7 million naira. Although Daba gets the drug free-of-charge from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, courtesy of a foreign foundation, it is still very expensive to purchase off the counter.

Four days after crowdfunding and  the actor’s United Bank for Africa (UBA) current account No. 1005382276 was disclosed, over 10 million naira was realized.
A news anchor, reporter, actor and editor, Sadiq's role as Bitrus in the 1970s drama “Cockcrow at Dawn” brought his acting career into the limelight.
In 2016, Sadiq Daba received the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the growth of the Nigerian film industry.
The renowned veteran is also popular for films and soap operas including: "Behind the Clouds", "October 1," "A Place like Home", "Soweto", and "Moment of Truth"

Lampard: Chelsea need another striker
[Image: lampard-chelsea-need-another-striker-2015391.jpg]
Despite new signing Alvaro Morata seemingly capable of filling Diego Costa’s boots, Lampard isn’t sure about his understudy, Michy Batshuayi, or manager Antonio Conte’s recent deployment of Eden Hazard as a second striker.

"I think they need to add," Lampard told BT Sport. "If you’re looking at Morata there, Michy Batshuayi has come in and had moments where he’s scored but seemingly Conte doesn’t trust him.

"Then you have to play [Eden] Hazard there and change a lot of things. So I think maybe a backup striker.

"I think they are going to have to strengthen in midfield at some point but that may be next year.

"But I think you have to keep strengthening because everybody else is. Manchester City are, Manchester United are, so to stay in the game you have to keep strengthening."

Morata has scored an impressive eight goals in 11 Premier League appearances, while Batshuayi has two from seven appearances, having scored five from 20 last season.

Do you know coconuts aren’t nuts?

[Image: ed0471b1b8e8a86dab5d22e024aac00153bcfcd1.jpg]
Coconuts aren't nuts. They are drupes (from the Greek dryppa, meaning "tree-ripened").
Drupes are fruit and have a fleshy outer coating enclosing a hard shell containing a seed.
The word "coconut" comes from the Spanish and Portuguese word coco, which means "monkey face".
Explorers found a resemblance to a monkey's face in the three round indented markings found at the base of the coconut.

I Want To Be A Farmer – 19-year-old With First Class In Computer Science Declares.

A young Nigerian lady who graduated with First Class Honours in Computer Science, has declared her intention to be an agricultural entrepreneur.

According to a The Nation report, Seriki-Sotayo, the sleepy host community of McPherson University, a faith-based tertiary institution established by the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, came alive last Saturday for the school’s second convocation where 46 graduates received their first degree.
Four of them – all ladies – finished with First Class; a feat that earned the valedictorians coveted academic prizes and accolades from the large audience that graced the event.
Miss Faith Onyekachukwu Ojumah, the Overall Best Graduating Student, who finished with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.84, became emotional after she stepped out to receive her prizes. Being the first born in the family of three, the 19-year-old had promised her mother she would make her proud whenever she completes her university degree.
Sadly, Faith’s mother was missing at the graduation. She died years before Faith got admitted into the school. But her mother’s absence could not deter her father, a poultry farmer, from sharing the joy.
Faith, who received four academic prizes, said her desire was to become the best in her class through “strong will and pure determination” to make her parents proud.
“I was surprised the results of our final year examination were released and I found out that I would be graduating with the highest CGPA. I believe my mom would be proud of this wherever she is now, because it is a promise I made to her. I am only sad that she is no longer with us to witness what I have achieved today,” Faith said in an emotion-laden voice.
Speaking with CAMPUSLIFE, Faith said her dream to become a computer scientist could have been truncated by finance. She said her father, a low-income earner, took up the responsibility and struggled to make her and her twin siblings comfortable.
She said: “After my mom passed on, things were difficult for the family because the responsibility to raise me and my siblings fell on my father. Sometimes, dad would get stressed up trying to raise money for his personal projects and for our upkeep. Finance became the main challenge.
“One fact about being a student is that, if you are hungry, it won’t be possible for you to read and assimilate. Each time I felt the impact of this inadequate finance, I would want to give up on schooling, but I bore the pain because there was no reason to surrender. All of these reinforced my determination to succeed and also taught me to be a strong-willed lady with focus on excellence.”
What next after a degree in Computer Science? Faith said her plan was to become an agricultural entrepreneur and not to work for anyone. She has already created a team of software developers with the aim using their computing expertise to bring about revolution in the nation’s agricultural sector.
Delivering the convocation lecture titled: Reconstructing the shattered education mirror: Hard choices we cannot side step, former Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof Peter Okebukola, examined the reason the country’s education was not anchored on job creation.
According to him, Nigeria’s education is anchored on “sinking, sandy shores”. Okebukola, who is the Pro-chancellor of Crawford University, said there was need for urgent reforms in tertiary education, given the widespread youth unemployment and what he described as “unimpressive on-the-job performance” of those who got employment.
He listed policy related challenges, outdated curriculum, poor facilities and rigid administrative and management routines as some of the factors responsible for the rot in the education.
He said: “The current education policy expects that the school curriculum at all levels and its implementation should be steered towards entrepreneurship and inculcate values that will foster better service delivery.
“The non-specificity and clarity of intention of this national policy on the direction the education system should take on job creation and service delivery and the weak inter-linkage with other national policies, such as those of science and technology, labour, employment and the service delivery charters, account in large part, for the inability of the education system to respond more forcefully to tackling the challenge of youth unemployment through education.
“If this national policy, in its present imperfect state, was to be implemented to the full, the gap between where we are now and where we should be with regard to job creation and service delivery, would have been significantly narrowed.”
Okebukola noted that education curricula at all levels were rich in content, but he added that they were found to be overloaded in the wrong areas.
He added: “The teacher factor would appear to be one of the most significant in the discussion on inhibitions to production of youth with job creation and good service delivery potentialities.
Many teachers have shallow knowledge of their teaching subjects and worse still, shallower knowledge and skills in entrepreneurship to positively influence their students. The paradigm of preparation of these teachers largely accounts for this sad situation.

“We admit mainly people who are academically weak and emotionally unwilling into teacher education programmes. With low self-esteem and minimum motivational propelling power, these teacher trainees are corralled like sheep through the machinery of the teacher preparation process and come out ill-trained and ill-suited for the challenges of 21st Century teaching in a country aspiring to be one of the 20 largest economies by 2020.”
Prof Okebukola said modern facilities were required for effective delivery of a job-creation curriculum, adding that there was need to review curriculum at all levels to remove topics which he called “junk”.
In conclusion, he said: “The value system of our society has been severely compromised. The education system is looked up to as a tool for values re-orientation. All schools should be part of the crusade to inculcate the right values in the youth and adults.
Values, such as honesty, diligence, love for country, respect for elders, hard work, ethnic and religious tolerance should be inculcated through appropriate curricular and co-curricular delivery systems.”
The Vice-Chancellor (VC), Prof Niyi Agunbiade, said the school had raised the bar of excellence in the delivery of quality education despite being a nascent tertiary institution. Through dedication to quality and excellence, the VC said members of staff of the school had won several local and international academic laurels.
Agunbiade urged the graduates to be brave and be good ambassadors of the school. He told them to take the risk and use their expertise to create jobs.
The Visitor to the school and General Overseer of Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, Reverend Felix Meduoye, told the graduands that they were privileged to be trained in the faith-based school, which had “divine mandate to build a people of excellence and integrity” for service.
He said: “Your training at McPherson University has imbued the traits of a champion in you. As you go into the market place, the resilience of Christ already built inside of you will conquer for you all Goliaths that may be awaiting you.”
Other valedictorians are Ifeoluwa Sule and Oluwabunmi Onafowora of Business Administration, and Flourish Adediji of Biochemistry.

HOW TO MAKE OGBONO SOUP IN 2 DIFF WAYS
User Avatar Forum: Food
Posted by: Gimbiya - 11-23-2017, 04:52 PM - No Replies

Ogbono Soup

There is a lot of ways to prepare this wonderful 'draw soup' as many calls it, some people like adding vegetables in theirs like pumpkin leaves (ugwu), bitterleaf, mint leave (efinrin) or oziza leave. While others like it bare without vegetables, some even add Egusi to it. Some people add Okra to make it draw/slime more while some don't. Anyway you choose to make yours it will always come out tasting yummy unless the Ogbono seeds are bad or the palm oil used isn't good...We will be making it in the two major ways and give you the easy steps...Wink

Ingredients
beef or assorted meat (shaki, abordi, roundabout, e.t.c...these are different parts of a cow i.e intestines)
chicken turkey
stock fish (socked inside hot water with salt)
ogbono (grounded with crayfish and pepper)
palm oil
smoked fish (clean well and remove bones)
pumpkin leave (ugwu) chopped
pepper
salt
onions chopped
seasoning
kpomo cleaned and cut into cubes
perewinkle without shells, leave in warm water with salt
prawns cleaned
okro grated
ginger minced
garlic minced

Lets Cook.......

First Way
1. Wash all your meats thoroughly. Put in a large put enough to hold the soup. Add all the ingredients, onions, pepper, salt, ginger, garlic and seasoning. Boil the meat according to thickness some assorted meat take longer time than others, so boil those once first like the shaki and after some minutes add the other meats. When they are almost cooked, stir in the chicken and turkey they should be the last. Add the stock fish, kpomo and perewinkle.
2. Pour in palm oil like 10 minutes after you add the chicken and tie the ogbono in a tight proof nylon and put in the boiling meat. Add the smoked fish. Cover you pot and allow to boil.
3. When the meat is perfectly cooked to your taste and the palm oil has boiled enough. Cut the ogbono nylon, throw away the nylon. Stir the Ogbono until it has completely absorbed the meat stock, it will begin to draw and bring out bubbles. Add the prawns. Keep stirring and add water if it is too thick.
4. Stir in the Okra and mix well. Taste and adjust seasoning. Stir in the vegetables like a minute before you turn off the heat.
5. Your soup is ready to be served with any of the following: Fufu, Eba, Pounded Yam, Amala, Semovita//Semolina or Wheat.

Second Way
1. Do exactly same as step 1 in the first method.
2. Put a small pan on fire and melt the palm oil (do not burn or you would end up with black soup), when it is hot you may add onions if you want it is optional (some people have an idea it makes the ogbono not to draw or dissolve properly, i do not agree with that but if it is your first time, you may leave the onions out.).
3. Stir in the Ogbono. Turn off the heat. Keep stirring until smooth with no lumps.
4. Add it to the meat stock and keep stirring until it has finally dissolved and add water if it is too thick until it has gotten to the consistency you like or Instead of add the the fried ogbono directly into the meat stock you can add the stock little by little into the ogbono until it has a good consistency and put back on heat to cook well.
5. Pour in the Okra if you are using it and stir for about 2 minutes. Add the vegetables if you are using it when you are ready to take it off and it is ready to be served.
Enjoyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy....

EXCLUSIVE: Meet Malia Obama's new squeeze! He is a 19-year-old Harvard sophomore from the UK who attended the posh Rugby School in England and was considered 'quite the catch'

  • Malia Obama, 19, was photographed kissing a mystery man at a Harvard-Yale tailgate in New Haven on Saturday

  • The lucky man in question is Rory Farquharson, a fellow Harvard student who is British, DailyMail.com can exclusively reveal

  • The 19-year-old swapped the UK for the US when he arrived in Cambridge, Massachusetts, last fall with the three simple words: 'So it begins'

  • Farquharson attended one of England's most prestigious and posh schools, Rugby School, and is currently a sophomore at Harvard

  • An insider at his former school said he was 'quite the catch' and very popular

  • Farquharson played rugby and represented the school at golf. He was also a member of the Blue Bunsen Society, a chemistry club

  • The two were spotted making out before the football game over the weekend and a video shows the two in a passionate moment
The student who was caught passionately kissing former First Daughter Malia Obama before the Harvard-Yale football game on Saturday is a British import, DailyMail.com can exclusively reveal.
Rory Farquharson was head boy at one of England's most prestigious schools before deciding to continue his studies at the Ivy League university, where he is now in his sophomore year.
The 19-year-old posted a picture of himself at the Cambridge, Massachusetts, school last fall with the three simple words: 'So it begins.'
But Farquharson couldn't have known the international media storm that would begin when he made out with President Barack Obama's eldest daughter — and it was all caught on camera.

The mystery man Malia Obama, 19, was spotted locking lips with on Saturday at a Harvard-Yale tailgate was Rory Farquharson, 19, (pictured) DailyMail.com can exclusively reveal
The sophomore Harvard student was caught on video sharing a passionate kiss with the former First Daughter on Saturday
The young man swapped the UK for the US when he arrived in Cambridge, Massachusetts, last fall with the three simple words: 'So it begins'.
Farquharson was selected Head of School at Rugby School for the school year 2015-2016.

The position, usually selected by the school principal in British schools, is to provide a link between teachers and students and usually goes to the most outstanding student — both academically and socially — of the year.
The girls all thought him 'quite a catch', one school insider told DailyMail.com.
The insider added: 'He was very popular.'
Rugby is one of the top 'public' schools in the United Kingdom, just a rung below the more famous Eton and Harrow.
It charges more than $42,500 (£32,000) a year for tuition and board and is, perhaps, is most famous for giving the world the game of rugby.
Farquharson played the sport and was an extra in a rugby video that played in the Rugby World Cup Opening Ceremony in 2015, with Prince Harry also making an appearance in the clip.
The young man also represented the school at golf. He was also a member of the Blue Bunsen Society, a chemistry club.
The elite school was also the setting for the 19th Century novel Tom Brown's School Days which graphically detailed the bullying that went on in public schools at the time.

The girls all thought Farquharson to be quite a catch, one school insider told DailyMail.com. They added: 'He was very popular.' Pictured: Rugby School
Farquharson might have some explaining to do if he ends up meeting Obama, seeing that the UK transplant follows President Trump on Twitter, but not Malia's father Barack Obama.
He may have another issue on his hands, as there have been claims Obama is anti-British, due to his Kenyan roots.
Obama's Kenyan grandfather was involved with the nation's independence movement against the British colonial authorities around the 1950s and some claim that he was tortured by them when he was imprisoned.
And further speculation to Obama's true feelings towards Britain grew when he entered the White House and immediately returned a bust of Winston Churchill that was on loan from Britain.
Farquharson spent the summer as an intern with the Centre for Democracy and Peace Building in Northern Ireland.
But according to his Twitter account, he seems interested in following in the banking footsteps of his father, Charles Farquharson who is a chief executive and director of an investment fund management group in London.

She completed the look with a tan bucket hat with the Harvard 'H' embroidered on the front.
Farquharson wore a black jacket, a red long-sleeved Harvard t-shirt, black jeans and black sneakers for the chilly weather.
Yale beat Harvard on Saturday, 24-3.
A year ago, her father said that Malia and his younger daughter Sasha had already started dating and that he was 'pretty relaxed' about it since they have Secret Service protection.
'They've had Secret Service. There's only so much these guys can do,' Barack joked.

Why We Are Running "Slow Government"
User Avatar Forum: Politics

Quote:President Muhammadu Buhari has explained why his government is still ‘slow’ after almost three years in power.

Buhari said his team met a ‘weighty responsibility’ on ground and needed to take time to study the situation before setting out to implement its plans for the country’s recovery.

The president made this statement on Wednesday when governors, political leaders and other stakeholders from the North-Central geo-political zone came to ask him (Buhari) to consider re-presenting himself for the 2019 presidential election.

In his remarks, President Muhammadu Buhari, who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Boss Mustapha, assured that the economy was set to be on a better pedestal.

Buhari said, “When you elected us into office, you did so with the conviction that our dear nation needed to be put on a new pedestal for the dreams conceived by our founding fathers, dreams that we have adopted to be realized.

“The full weight of this responsibility informed our careful, slow and steady start to the governance of Nigeria in the last 30 months. We took a deliberate decision to take a closer look at the situation we found before setting out to implement our plans for the country’s recovery.

“We are convinced of the need to establish a firm foundation upon which a united, peaceful and prosperous nation can be built for succeeding generations of Nigerians. I remain very grateful to all Nigerians for their patience and understanding as we go through the difficult steps necessary to achieve this objective.

“We are aware that the journey has been difficult in the last two and half years, but we have managed to stop the downward spiral and can confidently assert that the worst is over.

“Nigeria is back on the path to growth, having eased out of recession. We shall continue to vigorously pursue the task of diversifying the nation’s economy to remove our over-reliance on oil, while making the land set for all enterprising Nigerians to survive and thrive.

“Toward this end, we shall continue to count on the unflinching support and understanding in every area, especially those of you who trooped out to convince fellow countrymen and women of our sincere commitment to the cause of Nigeria.”

Wes Goodman Caught Having Sex With Man In Office, Faces 30 Sexual Accusations

Wes Goodman: Anti-LGBT Republican politician 'caught having sex with man in his office' facing 30 sexual misconduct accusations

An anti-LGBT Republican politician who was allegedly caught having sex with a man in his office is facing more than 30 accusations of sexual misconduct.

Wes Goodman, a state legislator for Ohio, has already been forced to resign after a witness to the reported extramarital affair told the Ohio House Chief of Staff.

But now Mr Goodman is facing a host of complaints after alleged victims shared screengrabs of conversations with right-leaning news website the Independent Journal Review.

Mr Goodman, who routinely promotes “family values”, is married to a woman who is an assistant director of an annual abortion rally known as March for Life.

According to the IJR, Mr Goodman would regularly contact men, usually aged between 18 and 24 and in the Republican movement, on Facebook Messenger.

The conversations frequently turned sexually explicit, with Mr Goodman sending suggestive messages and photos of his Instruments on Snapchat, reports the website.

One alleged victim, who wished to remain anonymous, told the IJR he received a friend request from Mr Goodman, who started discussing “various political things” before a two weeks later asking for the man’s Snapchat details.

“He constantly sent me Snaps and was always commenting on my stories,” the victim said. “He also asked how much 'p***y' I was getting and wondering what I was doing on Friday and Saturday nights.”

He added: “Then, he sent me videos of him masturbating as well as d**k pics. He also sent another Snapchat asking how big my joystick was.”

Dozens of men shared similar experiences of their online encounters with Mr Goodman, according to the IRJ.

The politician was also accused of groping an 18-year-old student in 2015 after a fundraiser, according to the Washington Post.

Mr Goodman, whose Twitter biography describes him as “Christian. American. Conservative. Republican. Husband to @Beth1027”, has regularly claimed "natural marriage" occurs between a man and a woman.

"Healthy, vibrant, thriving, values-driven families are the source of Ohio's proud history and the key to Ohio's future greatness,” his campaign website said.

“The ideals of a loving father and mother, a committed natural marriage, and a caring community are well worth pursuing and protecting."

The website has now been taken offline.

Mr Goodman, who has been described as a “conscience of the conservative movement”, announced in a statement on Thursday that he was stepping down.

“We all bring our own struggles and our own trials into public life," he said.

"That has been true for me, and I sincerely regret that my actions and choices have kept me from serving my constituents and our state in a way that reflects the best ideals of public service.

"For those whom I have let own, I’m sorry. As I move onto the next chapter of my life, I sincerely ask for privacy for myself, my family, and my friends.”

Life is meant to be lived, not hoarded': One mother reveals why she isn't leaving her children a penny

  • Laurie Graham has prepared her children not to receive anything after her death

  • She believes it's better to enjoy the pleasures in life rather than leave a legacy

  • She says she has comfort knowing her children won't argue over her possessions
When David, my first husband and father of my four children, passed away two years ago he left very little apart from a gilt-edged fund of hilarious memories.
He was, to put it mildly, an eccentric man. Our children seemed content with that.
So I was a bit surprised when one of our daughters protested that David’s wristwatch should have gone to her brother, the only boy in the family. ‘It’s traditional,’ she said. Well, maybe. But this wasn’t a £50,000 Patek Philippe or an antique half-hunter pocket watch passed down through the generations. It was bog standard and David’s new partner wished to have it.
With hindsight, there was a deeper reason my daughter wanted to contest ownership. It was her father, gone too soon, that she felt robbed of, not a £20 watch her brother didn’t particularly want.
[Image: 469D40F600000578-5109657-image-a-21_1511396052820.jpg]

Laurie Graham believes it's best to leave your children nothing after you die
It shows inheritance can be a contentious issue. And it’s much worse if you’ve set yourself up for financial disappointment by dreaming of a whacking great legacy.
That’s why I hold the view that the best thing you can do for your children is leave them nothing and prepare them to expect zilch before you go. Just as well I think that, because I have very little to leave. My adult children know this and they accept it.
Life, or perhaps I should say death, is more complicated for the very wealthy whose children may have relied upon getting a sizeable sum.
Last week’s story of the current upset at Port Eliot estate, seat of the Earl of St Germans, is a case in point.
Peregrine, the 75-year-old Earl, died last year and left both title and estate to his 12-year-old grandson, Albert. His second wife Cathy was left with a smaller portion.

Of course, at 12 I doubt young Albert was expecting much. But it seems his mother and grandmother — the Earl’s first wife, Jacquetta — may have been anticipating rich rewards on his behalf.
As Cathy moved her personal possessions out of the 123-room family home, they announced that they suspected her of taking some choice family heirlooms along, too. Jacquetta put it plainly: ‘I don’t want our family inheritance to be chopped about. I think it’s wrong that it’s going to Cathy — she has no children.’
That’s the trouble with legacies. Someone’s always bound to think they know best about how they should be left — but once belongings have changed hands they’re nobody’s business but the recipient’s.
We each have the opportunity to write a will and make clear our wishes while we’re of sound mind — and we should do so, to avoid any possibility of a war after we’re gone or are too ill to speak for ourselves.
[Image: 469E9A8A00000578-5109657-image-a-39_1511397723312.jpg]
Laurie says 'life is meant to be lived, not hoarded' therefore she won't deny herself pleasures in life in favour of leaving behind a legacy
Expectations are poisonous. Why work if you can depend on a big unearned payday just a few years down the road?
Such heirs can become obsessive and suspicious. If Dad dies they won’t want Mum to remarry because, then, who’ll get the bungalow in Eastbourne? They’ll quarrel with siblings and count the silver spoons. When I was a child we knew two elderly sisters who hadn’t spoken for years, having fallen out over the inheritance of their mother’s sherry glasses. What a way to live.
When I say I’ll be leaving my children nothing, I’m talking about material wealth. My first husband and I were married for 20 years and shared the opinion that the most valuable things you can give your children are deep roots. Then, when they get a little older, give them a pair of wings and your blessing to go out and make their way in the world.
Life is meant to be lived, not hoarded, and money in the bank is just money in the bank
We gave our children loads of other stuff, of course. Help with their homework, support in their sporting endeavours, happy memories, love by the ton.
If they didn’t understand then the typical financial struggles involved in raising a young family, they certainly appreciate them now that they have mortgages and children and car repair bills of their own. Perhaps because we had a relatively large family our four understood instinctively that the pot was small.
As teenagers, they all had weekend jobs to supplement their pocket money and as adults they have all worked since the day they left full-time education. Their only experience of inheritance has been on the death of their grandmother, from whom they each received a modest bequest. My mother, who had worked all her life, had very little material wealth to leave.
I was the executor of her will. I was happy to be able to fulfil her wishes and pass along a bit of money to her grandchildren, but I was even happier that the legacy came as a surprise to them.
[Image: 469E9A9A00000578-5109657-image-a-40_1511400184586.jpg]
She revealed although she has prepared her children not to receive anything, she does have a few remaining items of value including diamond earrings (file image)
They hadn’t banked on anything. She had been the best of grannies, generous with her time and her love. They hadn’t looked for anything more.
Apart from a very small amount of money from my mother’s estate, the only thing I’ve ever inherited is a shopping trolley from a dear departed friend.
Judy used to see me trudging home from the supermarket laden with bags. When she knew she was dying she placed the trolley in my hands. I treasure it. It’s like having her company every time I go shopping.
As for my own legacy, there has been no discussion about inheritance. But my children all understand that a writer’s life is financially precarious. If there’s money in the bank today there’s no telling how long it will have to last.
They’d rather have a mum who does what she wants than one who frets about how much she’ll leave when she dies.
I’m not depriving myself of life’s little pleasures so I can leave my children a substantial legacy
That isn’t to say my children are flush. They struggle like all young parents, and if I can help them occasionally I do. But, crucially, they don’t expect it.
A few years ago there was a lot of defiant talk among my contemporaries about SKI-ing. Spending the Kids’ Inheritance. Baby Boomers buying that boat, going on that trip.
It sounded good to me. Life is meant to be lived, not hoarded, and money in the bank is just money in the bank. Soon enough they’ll take it from you to pay for your residence in the Dun Travelling Twilight Home.
I’m not exactly SKI-ing myself, but I’m not depriving myself of life’s little pleasures so I can leave my children a substantial legacy.
I have a very wealthy friend who told me recently that my attitude was cavalier and unnatural, and that he intended to leave as much as possible to his (in my opinion) highly indulged children.
From where I stood, there was already the clearest possible signal that he was paving the road to hell with his good intentions — his 30-something son, a perpetual student who had yet to do a serious day’s work.
Later I discovered what lay behind my friend’s determination to make his children overnight millionaires when he dies: when his own father died, he left everything to a new wife. Ouch.
I’ve also known families who lose sleep over who will get what and, nightmarish thought, what if Aunt Sybil leaves it all to the Sanctuary for Distressed Donkeys? That’s why I’m thankful my children are without illusions.
There are no family heirlooms, just silly bits and pieces that may hold happy memories for them.
I’m going to let them arm-wrestle for ownership of the ancient Le Creuset pans.
Among the very few possessions whose destiny I do wonder about are my diamond earrings — the only diamonds I’ve ever owned — which were commissioned by my children for my 60th birthday and made by a friend.
Two earrings between three daughters and four granddaughters. I’m no mathematician but even I know that two into seven won’t go. Maybe I’ll toss a coin. Maybe no one will want them anyway.
I take comfort in the knowledge that there’s unlikely to be an argument about them. We’re not the kind of family that has expectations — great or small.

Maryam Sanda charged with culpable homicide punishable with death over her late husband Haliru Bello
[Image: maryam%2Bsanda.png]

A two-count charge has been filed agains jealous wife, Maryam Sanda, barely five days after allegedly stabbing her husband to death.
Maryam had allegedly killed her husband, Bilyaminu Haliru Bello, who was a son of a former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP) and ex-Minister Mohammed Haliru Bello.
There had been issues on whether or not the suspect will face trial with some relatives of the deceased raising the alarm of a possible cover up.
However, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the Nigerian police alleged that the embattled wife stabbed her husband in the chest and neck with the intention to kill him.
The command on November 20  filed a two-count charge against the wife in The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja Division.
According to The Nation, the charges read:
That you, Maryam Sanda, female, adult of No.4 Pakali Close, Wuse 2 Abuja, on 19/11/2017 at about 0350hours at No.4 Pakali Close, Wuse 2 Abuja within the Abuja Judicial Division, did commit the offence of culpable homicide punishable with death in that you caused the death of one Bilyaminu Bello Haliru, male adult of No. 40 Pakali Close, Wuse 2 Abuja by stabbing him on the chest with a broken bottle which eventually led to his death and you did so with the knowledge that your act is likely to cause his death.

“You thereby  committed an offence  punishable under Section 221  of the Penal Code Law.
“That you, Maryam Sanda, female, adult of No.4 Pakali Close, Wuse 2 Abuja, on 19/11/2017 at about 0350hours at No.4 Pakali Close, Wuse 2 Abuja within the Abuja Judicial Division, did commit the offence of causing grievous hurt in that you stabbed one Bilyaminu Bello Haliru, male adult of No. 40 Pakali Close, Wuse 2 Abuja with a broken bottle on the neck thereby endangering his life.
“You thereby  committed an offence contrary to Section 240 (g) and punishable under Section 247 of the Penal Code Law.”

No date has been fixed for the arraignment of the suspect as at press time.
But there were indications that there was pressure on the Bello family to “accept the death of Bilyaminu as accidental, the wish of Allah  and forgive Maryam.”

Man Narrates His Ordeal In The Hands Of SARS Operatives In Lagos (Photos)
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 11-23-2017, 12:14 PM - No Replies

SARS is a unit of the Nigeria Police Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department . Its duty is to arrest and investigate assassins, armed robbers, kidnappers and people involved in violent crimes.

There are numerous stories on social media from young men and women on the horrible activities of SARS operatives. According to multiple reports over time, SARS has shifted from its major duty.

A Lagos based man, identified as Martins Dareno has taken to social media to narrate his ordeal in the hands of the Police Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) operatives yesterday in Ikorodu area of Lagos state.

Read his Story below ;

“SARS NEEDS TO STOP THE ABUSE OF INNOCENT CITIZENS
The wanton abuse of power by the officers of the special anti robbery squad (SARS) is becoming unbearable. How does harassing innocent Nigerians constitute as their job?

On my way to work yesterday the 20th of Nov 2017 on an okada on Erunwen road in the Ikorodu area of Lagos, a mini Suzuki bus overtook us and suddenly halted in front of the bike that was conveying me to work. Out of the bus came 3 armed men with SARS boldly written on their shirts pointing guns at us. The sudden stop of the bike made us fall at the middle of the road and in the process the hot silencer of the Okada burnt through my trousers and was burning my flesh. I was screaming for help so the bike could be taken off my leg but these “police officers” were more interested in bundling us into their bus.

I’m a certified Computer Programmer and web site designer and I work as a back-end admin for a top hotel here in Ikorodu. I also do other web related jobs freelance such as building websites for several clients. I have never involved myself in cyber crime of any sort. The revenue I make off my jobs keeps me humble as my needs are not much.

After bungling us into the bus, with my leg badly burnt and bleeding, I asked them what crime had I committed? They asked for my phone, I asked them again, what crime had I committed, they promptly pointed their guns towards me. I gave them my phone because I’ve heard how they kill people who resist them recklessly and I was not looking to be a statistic.

They begun driving all around aimlessly while checking our phones. They tried to open my Facebook app but my the data wasn’t on. Since they couldn’t get any info from FB, they decided to look at my photo gallery. When it seemed like the type of evidence they were looking for was not available and all he saw were my screenshots chats and he began to delete them. Delete?

At that point I became livid, Hello sir, those screenshots are back end admin usernames and passwords for the web designs of my clients. No! You don’t have the right to do that sir, but that infuriated them and they began punching and slapping me from all directions. The officer with my phone deleted my first photo folder and was moving to wipe out my whole gallery folder when I yanked my phone from him. They hit me harder pointing that they will kill me and dump me by the roadside and nobody will do anything to them. At this point I could not feel my toes as my burnt leg was bleeding out.

I thought to myself that when i woke up that morning, dealing with the Nigerian police in this manner was not what i planned for. what was my crime again? Being a computer savvy youth with a phone and training myself to make a decent living with my skills.

I remembered that in the news recently some SARS officers while chasing a suspected Internet fraudster, Badoo at the Ogoja Market along LASU-Igando Road, had started shooting sporadically and in the process, a stray bullet hit 20-year-old Joseph in the head.
After hours of rounding up more innocent victims and seeing my phone was clean, they dropped me off at Erunwen Junction. With the amount of gun pokes and gun butt hitting it will be a miracle if there’s no internal injury. Every blood of the Nigerian youth that dies and has died based on the unprofessional conduct of these officers will speak today. These extra-judicial killing and harassment of innocent citizens is nothing short of a genocidal agenda to wipe a population of Nigerian youths. It’s a privilege to serve as an officer of the Nigerian forces. SARS STOP THE WANTON ABUSE.”

Why Ghana’s natural resources and achievement might be Shatta Wale, being black and p

Why Ghana’s natural resources and achievement might be Shatta Wale, being black and pronouncing Pastor as ‘Pasta’
So on Saturday, we woke to rants by Ghanaian dance hall artiste, Shatta Wale, about disrupting Wizkid’s show in Ghana this December if Wizkid’s Nigerian fans fail to apologize to Ghana’s President.
It might be important to note that this Shatta Wale whose cigar smoke is brighter than ignited this controversy, and Nigerians took the war to him. Call this a hate post, call out post, beef post or whatever, but we don’t care down here, because there is an Igbo proverb that says ‘anaghi agwa ochi nti na agha esula’, even if Nigerians explain this proverb to Ghanaians, their brain won’t be able to decipher because obviously, it has been sacrificed for a plate of Banku and Ghana Jollof.

Ghana? Ghana is West-African country located along the Gulf of Guinea and Atlantic Ocean, they practice a Unitary Presidential Constitutional Democracy (a state governed as a single power in which the central government is ultimately supreme, and any administrative divisions (sub-national units) exercise only the powers that the central government chooses to delegate). They are also known for pronouncing Pastor as ‘Pasta’ , Uncle as ‘anku’, junction as ‘Janckshin’, ‘towel as ‘taweh’, butter  as ‘batta’, transfer as ‘transfare’, filters as ‘feetes’,  pampers as ‘pampess’, bottle as ‘battle’, church and ‘chech’ and many other crazy pronunciations time will fail us to get in here.
Ghana is a multicultural nation, with a population of approximately 27 million, spanning a variety of ethnic, linguistic and religious groups. This means this country dey drag weight with the population in Lagos and Bayelsa alone.
In Education, Ghana who her Independence 3 years before Nigeria, got her first University ‘University College of the Gold Coast’ in 1948, while Nigeria’s first University ‘University of Ibadan’ traces it’s origin back to 1932 as Yaba college, meaning these Ghanaian’s got it’s first graduates years after Nigeria. It is also important to note that Nigeria has also produced Africa biggest brains, which includes Nnamdi Azikiwe, Obafemi Awolowo, Wole Soyinka, Chinua Achebe, Phillip Emeagwali, Chimamanda Adichie and many others. Nigeria also has 5 Universities in the Top 30 Universities in Africa list, while Ghana has one. Oh they might argue that Nigerians are trooping to their country to study, but anyways let me clear you all; those who go to Private institutions here in Nigeria are taken as those who failed JAMB, and if by chance you find yourself in a Ghanaian Institution, you are taken as those who failed Private School test in Nigeria.

While Nigeria is still having a ‘bad economy’ with a Gross Domestic Product of 405.1 billion USD, Ghana with all its electricity still has a GDP of 42.69 billion USD, which means when the Governor of Rivers State talks, Ghana’s President should bend a knee, because Ned Stark didn’t lose his head for them to be disrespectful. The major economic natural resources in Ghana are gold, manganese, bauxite, industrial diamonds, timber, rubber, hydropower, petroleum, silver, salt and limestone, and Nigeria has all these and even the recently mined Nickel, said to be one of the purest in the world. Gold and bauxite alone account for 64.4 per cent of Ghana primary exports; meaning to a large extent, Shatta Wale might might be the remaining 36 per cent, and this is really affecting their GDP. Oh I forgot to add, they also export ‘blackness’, probably why their Football National Team are called the ‘Black stars of Ghana’, so black that they clouded their World Cup chances with darkness. Oh by the way, their GDP is not enough to buy the rich men in Nigeria; Dangote, Mike Adenuga, Otedola, Emeke Offor, E-Money a get together cake or even a birthday cake.
Ghana’s media industry is a joke. Nobody took them seriously over Yvonne Nelson’s pregnancy report until she shared her baby bump photos, probably that was why their President, Nana Akufo-Addo, hired a Nigerian media firm ‘Red Media’ to manage his electoral campaign, which eventually got him elected and disposed the incumbent President.
Is it food? Ghanaian Jollof that looks like what Jesus saw and said ‘It is finished’, please the thought of it alone while writing this makes me want to throw up. No wonder they all eat it and end up competing with Kiwi black polish for ‘black citizens of the year’ award.
Now one artiste in Ghana, who is not even worthy to untie Speed Darlington’s shoe lace is arguing that our own dear Wizkid who has featured Drake, Future, Wale and even signed Ghanaian top stars to his label is not a superstar, as in ordinary Shatta Wale whose future is shattered. Probably this prodigal son who doesn’t have any international recognition, was one of those sent packing from Nigeria with ‘Ghana must go’ bags. And to think that most Ghanaians are supporting him and trying to compare Ghana with Nigeria, is enough to declare dry fasting for 30 days against the spirit of smoking thyme in place of weed and idiocy.   Nigeria Loses $9bn To Illegal Mining In 2 Years
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-23-2017, 12:01 PM - No Replies

Quote:The Federal Government yesterday said in 2014 and 15, Nigeria lost about $9bn to illegal mining.

The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Kayode Fayemi, who addressed State House reporters after the cabinet meeting, quoted a report released by the Nigerian Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative.

The minister said the loss is from such illegally exported items as gold, lead, zinc, tin and coal.

He said if Nigeria could stop the spate of illegal activities by Nigerians and their foreign collaborators, the revenue from the sector would significantly improve.

He said the Federal Executive Council approved N987m for the procurement of 50 Hilux vehicles to enable the special mines taskforce to monitor and curb illegal mining activities in all the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.

Fayemi said each vehicle would be purchased for N19.3 million.

He stated: "The Special Mines Surveillance Task Force is made up of all security agencies. The DSS,  the Police, the Civil Defence, EFCC and the National Security Adviser's Office.

"You may be aware that over the course of last year, the police have established Mines Police and we now have a Commissioner of Police in-charge of Mines Police. We have a Commandant from the Civil Defence also exclusively deployed for mines activities.

“If we can stop the spate of illegal activities, not just by Nigerians but by Nigerians in collaboration with some foreigners, we will significantly improve the revenue that comes from that sector, increase the contributions to GDP,  increase the royalty to government and also provide more jobs for our people."

The minister said another effort towards reducing illegal and informal activities was the formalisation of small scale miners and artisan miners.

Beautiful lady who was raped at her sophomore year shares her inspiring story
A student of North Carolina University, Stephanie has shared her inspiring story as she’s set to graduate in some days’ time.
According to her, she was raped in her sophomore year two years ago.

Writing on her website, she said:
During the fall semester of my sophomore year I went out to a party with my best friends. The night, which was filled with drinks, laughs and good times, slowly but surely led to events that would alter the course of my life.
When I returned from the party, I invited a friend over to stay the night. This friend and I had been out a few times, my parents trusted him and it wasn’t the first time he had spent the night.
I was exhausted and intoxicated but as he ran me a shower I remember vividly telling him that I had no intentions of having sex with him. Later that night I woke up with him on top of me, raping me without protection.
I cried, I asked him to stop and he told me to shh and let him finish. I cried but I laid there paralyzed. The next few days were a blur. I remember being a functional zombie for weeks.
For weeks, I withdrew from my friends and family members. I skipped class and missed work. I barely passed any of my classes and I seriously considered dropping out.
My energy was zapped as I saw my rapist everywhere. By mid second semester, he announced he was running for a very public position on campus. I watched as most of the black community, people I called friends, campaigned for my rapist.
On the night I planned to kill myself, my best friend saved my life. My other friend walked me to the counseling center the next day and thus began my journey to healing.
I still struggle with depression and I still struggle with PTSD. I still struggle with nightmares. I still go to counseling but I’m so much better. .
I’ve dedicated my existence to loving, laughing and helping others. I never imagined that I’d be graduating from one of the top institutions in the country or that I’d be addressing my graduating class as the commencement speaker.”

National security structure has collapsed – Senate

Leke Baiyewu, Abuja
The Senate has lamented the rising level of insecurity in the country and blamed it on the collapse of the country’s security structure.
At the plenary session on Wednesday, the upper chamber of the National Assembly observed that many lives had been lost to clashes and crimes without a major step by the government to stop the killings.
The lawmakers took turns to X-ray the issues affecting the security of lives and properties in the country while speaking on a motion moved by Senator Tijjani Kaura (Zamfara-North), entitled ‘Urgent need to look into the killings and arson that took place in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.’

The President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, said the consensus was that the country’s security system had failed.
Saraki said, “Clearly, all the messages that are coming is that there is definitely a collapse of what is either called security infrastructure or national security, with this level of impunity. The impunity being that people all over now illegally carry arms around the whole place. The fact that in the past, many committees had been set up to look at the reformation of the police but as of today, no action has been taken.
“Issues were raised on whether there is a need for what is called state police or community police but the big point is that it is for us to redesign the structure.
“Of course, the issue of funding of our security agencies is there too. And we have shown here many times how committed we are and our national approach to major government issues. We must be able to define exactly what we want to do in taking this problem head-on.”
The lawmakers resolved to set up an ad hoc committee of the Senate “to review the current security infrastructure of the country, and in consultation with the security agencies make necessary recommendations on the way forward in the security arrangement.
The Senate President said, “The purpose of us setting up an ad hoc committee is to take the responsibility of driving the process and the committee will address all the issues.
“The key thing is that we must find a solution to this. We must take the bull by the horns and drive this process. I believe that the kind of members we will have in that ad hoc committee must be members who must look at it in a nationalistic point of view, drop politics and other issues. I can assure you that we will come up with a way forward and this will not be a report that will just lie (unimplemented); we must come forward, bring it before us here, debate it and work out the way forward.
“This is a commitment that we have all made to the country. The leadership will look at, between today and tomorrow, the composition of the committee. The senators who have the privilege to be in the committee carry a huge responsibility for this country.”
According to Saraki, the problem over the years is that the government has refused to face the problem head-on. “We don’t want to deal with it because it has a lot of issues,” he stated.
“It is time now; we cannot continue as a society where people will just be dying on a daily basis and we cannot come up with a resolution. I know it is not going to be easy. I am happy that we have former governors here; we have aspiring governors here; we have long-serving senators who have made governors, they are here too. The three groups should be able to come together.
“Even if we talk about funding, it is here. The new technologies that countries are using require funding. I think that what we need to do now is to take this as a responsibility and make it work. If it requires constitution amendment, so be it. If it requires extra funding, so be it. Whatever it requires, we must do it,” he added.
The Senate President said members of the ad hoc committee would be announced today, when they would also be given a timeframe to present their report.

Passage of 2018 Budget in January not feasible — Senate On November 23, 20177:00 amIn NewsComments By Henry Umoru ABUJA—THE Senate yesterday raised the alarm that the proposed date of January by the Federal Government for passage of the 2018 Appropriation Bill will not be feasible due to what it described as the nonchalant attitude of government agencies and parastatals. Buhari presenting 2018 budget to joint NASS session The Senate said that some people in government were not giving maximum cooperation to the National Assembly for the lawmakers to effectively carry out their responsibilities. According to the Senate, the refusal by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN; Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC; Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR; National Bureau of Statistics, NBS and other government agencies and parastatals to defend their budgets before the upper chamber will affect the quick deliberation and passage of the 2018 Appropriation Bill. Addressing journalists yesterday in Abuja, Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Sabi Abdullahi, APC, Niger North, decried a situation where chief executive officers of these agencies fail to appear but send their junior officers who do not have full knowledge of the activities of the agencies. Senator Abdullahi particularly fingered the Group Managing Director of NNPC, Maikanti Baru; Governor of CBN, Godwin Emefiele; Director- General of DPR, Director-General of NBS, Dr. Yemi Kale, among others, for not appearing before the Senate to defend their budgets. Meanwhile, the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and the Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) was laid yesterday for debate and subsequent passage today. Nigerian couple arrested for stealing nearly $40,000 from owner of a baseball team in Florida
A Nigerian couple in Cypress is being accused of stealing nearly $40,000 from an owner of the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team.
The team’s part owner, Randy Frankel, told police in St. Petersburg, Florida, that someone had managed to get into his assistant’s AOL account in February, compromising instructions to Wells Fargo Bank to route $38,326.26 into another Wells Fargo business account. .
According to charging documents, the money ended up instead in the Bank of America account owned by Madoussou Odebode. Investigators say Madoussou claimed she met a person who said they were interested in repairing flooded cars and then selling them.

She allegedly told Harris County deputies she contacted a friend who owned Brian Auto Sales, and forwarded an invoice to the interested entrepreneur for four cars.
When the money was paid into her account, Madoussou allegedly claimed she paid out $30,020 for four vehicles, including two flooded Mercedes Benz and two Lexus vehicles.
The Harris County District Attorney’s office says however that the company Brian Auto Sales does not exist, according to charging documents. The payments allegedly went to her husband, Oluwatomiwa Odebode, instead.
Surveillance camera footage from the Bank of America at 11288 Westheimer in Houston showed the couple purchasing two cashier’s checks in the amounts of $19,200 and $10,800, according to the DA’s office.
Investigators said both checks were deposited into a Chase bank account opened by an unknown person using a fraudulent passport as identification. The IP address of the computer that compromised the AOL email account owned by Frankel’s assistant originated out of Lagos, Nigeria, investigators said.
A judged charged both Madoussou Odebode and her husband,Oluwatomiwa Odebode, with third-degree felony theft. Their bonds are set at $2,500 each and their next court appearance will be in December.

15-yr-old commits suicide after ex-boyfriend spread intimate photos of her online
A teenage girl took her own life after she found out that her ex-boyfriend had allegedly posted intimate photos of her online, it was claimed.
Karina Saifer Oliveira, 15, allegedly killed herself after she heard rumours that the photos had been shared throughout her home town.
The gossip had spread through her school and the bullied girl was said to be living a “personal hell”.

Her devastated mum Angela Saifer has told of the heartbreaking moment she found her daughter’s body when she returned home from work at a sugar mill.
Ms Saifer, 46, said there were no outward signs that the teen was in distress or planned to commit suicide.
She said:
I do not want this to happen to anybody else.”

Ms Saifer told BuzzFeed News that her last contact with her daughter was a WhatsApp message just hours before she found her dead earlier this month.
The high school student, from Nova Andradina, Brazil, had asked her if she could leave class early.
After she took her own life on November 7, photos were taken of her body and sent around on WhatsApp.
Her father Aparecido Oliveira, 47, a security officer at her school, said Karina had mentioned the rumours to him two months ago.
It was claimed that intimate photos were taken of her by a 17-year-old boy she dated when she was 14 and then posted online “like a trophy”.
It remains unclear if the photos exist, but police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the teen’s death.
 Her father said:
After she died, we saw messages from students on her WhatsApp, hateful ones, from students teasing her about her hair because it was half-afro, because she used a hair straightener.
They’d been sending them for over a year.”

The bullying was so bad that the family even considered moving Karina to a new town and a new school.
Her parents, who are separated, have also hit out at police after a photo of the teen’s body was shared on WhatsApp and sent to one of her sisters.
But police have denied accusations that the photo was leaked by an officer.

Northern Youths Ask FG To Tell The Truth About Boko Haram..
User Avatar Forum: Politics

Quote:Northern Youths Leadership Forum (NYLF) has accused the federal government and military of using propaganda to sweep the frequent attacks by Boko Haram terrorists under the radar.
It lamented the military has refused to take responsibility for the weekly deaths of soldiers and citizens in the fight against the sect in the North-east.

The forum was reacting to the recent bomb blast that rocked Mubi town and last Monday’s militia attack on four villages in Numan Local Government Area of Adamawa State which resulted to the killing of over 50 people and 60 people respectively in the two separate attacks.

It noted that the security challenges were becoming unbearable in the North-east, adding that if the military had mopped up the Sambisa forest as claimed, why is the insurgents operating from the dreaded forest again?
Speaking, NYLF National Chairman, Afiyo Elliot, said there are no two Sambisa forest “if truly the military had cleared Sambisa forest of insurgency, why are insurgents living and organising their operations from the forest?
According to him, an intelligence reports made available to them indicated that the Boko Haram insurgents are still the occupants of the forest where they plan and carry out their operations.

He said the true situation about the activities of Boko Haram insurgency and herdsmen/farmers crisis especially in the North-east was hidden by the military and other security agencies from Nigerians.

“There is a big disconnection between what we are told and what is real,” he said
While the chairman condemned the two separate attacks in strong terms, he said if the military had degraded the insurgents as they claimed, why are the recent bombings occurring continuously as more lives have been lost to these attacks than when the insurgents were using smaller weapons to fight.
The chairman said the authority should stop using propaganda to deceive Nigerians but to tell Nigerians the truth in order to allow them offer genuine prayers and seek solace from God.

Elliot said if they continue to tell lies, God might not answer the prayers of Nigerians, adding that telling the true situation might attract help from somewhere else.

However, Senator Abubarkar Girei also condemned the attack in a strong term, describing it as demonic and inhuman that every Nigerians should condemn the unholy act perpetrated by the insurgents.

Girei, who was one time the governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State, further explained that caution should be taken to checkmate the activities of the insurgency, saying if nothing is done to stop the incessant attack on indigenes of the North-east, the situation will be worse.

General Buba Marwa (rtd) also joined prominent Nigerians to condemn the act perpetrated by the Boko Haram terrorists as he explained that the military should step up its strategies to contain the onslaught of the terrorists.
Also, North-east Chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN), Mafindi Danburam, said for now, 60 people were killed in the attacks as the death toll continues to rise.

Jonathan: I won’t sleep well if PDP doesn’t return to power

Former President Goodluck Jonathan says the only thing that will make him sleep well is if the Peoples Democratic Party returns to power in 2019.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) ended the 16-year reign of the PDP in 2015.
Taking responsibility for the poor performance of the party in that election, Jonathan said his focus now is to take the PDP to its former position.
He spoke when he received Bode George, a chairmanship aspirant of the PDP, at his Otuoke residence in Bayelsa state.
“Whether I like it or not, I must take responsibility for the defeat because I led the party to the election,” the media team of George quoted Jonathan as saying.
“My priority now is how to ensure that the Peoples Democratic Party regains the presidency in 2019… The only thing that will make me sleep well is to ensure that the PDP comes back to power.”
The former president said he was working with other stakeholders to ensure that the party was well organised to take back power.
Promising that the mistakes of the past would not be repeated, Jonathan advised the party to take steps to regain the confidence of the electorate.
Earlier, George congratulated the former president on his 60th birthday.
George urged the ex-President to ensure that the PDP emerge stronger from the forthcoming national convention slated for December 9.

Former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, will on Saturday formally defect to ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Lagos State chapter of APC confirmed this to the Nigerian Tribune and was also corroborated by the former media aide to the minister, Mr. Jonathan Eze, who said the event, expected to be attended by other defecting PDP leaders and members, would hold at the Campus Square on Lagos Island.
Chairman of Lagos APC, Otunba Henry Ajomale, could not be reached as he was said to be at a meeting, but his aide, who picked the call made to his phone, confirmed the report, saying, “Obanikoro is defecting to APC on Saturday.”
He, however, refused to answer any further question thrown at him.
Nigerian Tribune learnt that Ajomale had earlier hinted the APC was making efforts that would culminate in ensuring that Obanikoro, who was Nigerian Ambassador to Ghana, was welcomed formally into its fold in a matter of weeks.
It would be recalled that the former minister, had long been rumoured to have joined the APC, as he had on some few occasions been found to have attended functions held by the party.
In particular, he had once attended a Town Hall meeting organised by Senator Oluremi Tinubu, wife of National Leader of APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking at the event, which took place at the Museum Centre on June 20, Onikan, Lagos, in apparent anticipation of questions newshounds might want to ask him, Obanikoro said people should not be surprised seeing him at such gathering, declaring, “I am back home in the midst of my people.”

He went further to say that he attended the gathering as a constituent to support Senator Tibubu’s good work.
“As a constituent of Lagos Central Senatorial District, I today attended Senator Remi Tinubu’s Town Hall meeting to support her good work,” he said.

No automatic ticket for Buhari in 2019, says Tinubu

[Image: PAGE-6-PIX-23-11-17.jpg]Femi Aluko (left); Chief Bisi Akande; Afenifere leader, Chief Reuben Fasoranti; National Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Chief Sehinde Arogbofa; Ondo State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu; Dr. Tunji Abayomi and Chief Olu Falae during Tinubu’s visit to Fasoranti at his residence in Akure, Ondo State…yesterday
• Why I joined APC, by Ojukwu
The All Progressives Congress (APC) will not give an automatic ticket to President Mohammadu Buhari ahead of the 2019 general elections as declared by the governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha.
APC National Leader, Ahmed Bola Tinubu stated this yesterday in Akure while addressing journalists during a courtesy visit to the leader of the Pan Yoruba socio-political group, Pa Reuben Fasoranti.
Tinubu, without mincing words, said there would be primary elections to determine the candidate of the party, saying Buhari would allow and support due process and rule of law for the elections.

Okorocha had said other APC governors will back the president’s re-election bid in 2019, and that there was no better candidate than Buhari.
Reacting, Tinubu said: “I have not heard about that and the party spokesman has not said that. No governor can appropriate the power of endorsement to himself.”
The National Leader said the declaration by the governors is a rumour and thought that contravenes the ethics of rule of law and standard practices.
“Buhari is a believer in due process, the Buhari I know believes in rule of law.’’
The APC chieftain encouraged the president and his supporters to allow him go for the primaries rather than cheap campaigns.
“Who says he will lose at any convention; but if the national body, the NEC and all of us as members had endorsed him as our single candidate, we will not be violating INEC regulations, will not be violating our party constitution.
“What you are hearing is just a campaign. Buhari has not exempted anybody and he has not affected ambition of anybody.”

The former Lagos State governor said he was in Akure to acknowledge the leadership of Pa Fasoranti in our own race, as a great leader of the Omoluwabi and in his evening we want him to be happy.
“He has been a great leader in his youth and day child. His intellectual is still very intact. Seek his advice, seek his understanding and prayers that is why I am here.”
Nonetheless, Fasoranti described the visit as a sign of good things to come to the Yoruba race, noting that the meeting would further foster great understanding among the Yoruba people and states.
While speaking on a personality programme on one of the state radios some weeks ago, he expressed willingness to reconcile all political groups in the state after they were beguiled into the 2003 general elections by former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.

Meanwhile, son of late Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, Emeka Ojukwu jnr, yesterday justified his decision to join the APC saying it was borne out of the need to ensure the South East geopolitical zone occupy its rightful place in the country.
He spoke when he was formally received into the APC by the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun led national working committee (NWC) at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
Ojukwu Jnr said he took a cue from his father, who had the option of joining the defunct Nigeria People’s Party (NPP) but opted for the then National Party of Nigeria (NPN) in the second Republic in a bid to build blocks beyond the south east geopolitical zone of the country.
Said he: “I decided to lead by example. I have been talking about this for a while and I decided it was time to take the step forward. It is a challenge, there are some people that will not be happy about that, but you have to be bold, take a step and let people understand where you are coming from and why you are doing what you are doing.

$60.3bn missing petroleum revenue: Reps to probe CBN, FIRS

ABUJA—APPARENTLY disturbed by the inability of the Central Bank of Nigeria,CBN, Federal Inland Revenue Service,FIRS to give account of an alleged missing $60.3 billion Petroleum Profit Tax and Royalty revenues, the House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions yesterday resolved to conduct an investigative hearing into the missing money. Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele This resolution followed the failure of the CBN and FIRS to appear before members of the Public Petitions Committee to defend the alleged infractions after turning down 14 invitations. The petitioner, Mr Fidelis Uzonwanne a chartered accountant with Synergy Resources Nigeria Limited, told members of the committee: ‘’From 2004 to 2016, over $60 billion of PPTP and royalty revenues were unaccounted for by the CBN.” According to the petitioner, the CBN and Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, had failed to appear before members of the committee to defend their submissions upon realising that their secret had been unveiled. “We discovered that something was going wrong and we approached the CBN to take actions to remedy those infractions but it remained adamant, probably that is how they benefit from the system,” the petitioner said. Chairman of the Committee, Uzoma Abonta (Abia-PDP), however, expressed worry over the failure of the CBN to appear before the committee to defend its submission on the alleged infractions. “Because the CBN, FIRS and the Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR, have repeatedly failed to appear, the committee will be left with nothing than to deem it fit to work with materials before it. “We will conduct a public hearing on the matter and we will compel them to appear because what we are trying to do is to have a situation where all the loopholes for leakages are blocked. “The committee will make public its findings via newspaper publications, inviting all the stakeholders to a public hearing to tell Nigerians where the petroleum products tax profit is kept. “The missing money is enough to fund our national budget and the apex bank and the Federal Inland Revenue Service,FIRS, must give us all the details,’’ he said.

Pius Anyim

Eniola Akinkuotu, Abuja
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has released a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, The PUNCH can confirm.
The EFCC had earlier said it had obtained a warrant to detain Anyim for 30 days.
It was, however,  learnt that Anyim was released on Tuesday after handing over his passport to the EFCC.

The former SGF was also instructed to report to the commission every two weeks and also return some of the money traced to him.
A source at the EFCC said, “Anyim was released on administrative bail after he had surrendered his passport. He is expected to return some money to the EFCC and also report back every two weeks.”
Anyim is being investigated for allegedly collecting N520m from a former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.), on the eve of the 2015 presidential election.
He also allegedly awarded contracts worth N13bn to companies he had interests in.
Anyim, who is a former Senate President, is the most senior former government official under the former President Goodluck Jonathan’s regime to ever be arrested by the EFCC.
Apart from allegedly receiving funds from Dasuki, the former SGF was accused of false assets declaration and using proxies and companies in which he had interest to corner contracts from the ecological funds.
The source said Anyim allegedly awarded contracts to some companies linked to him through which ecological funds were diverted.
The companies include: Foundation Years Limited, Precious Integrated, Precious Petroleum, Mak & Mak, Chap Construction, Eldyke Engineering, Pryke Limited, Chipa Nigeria Limited, Prima A11 Limited, Pima International, Chanto Engineering, Ishiagu Microfinance Bank, Mulak Ventures, Vitro Engineering and Tip Top Nigeria.
The source added, “Anyim was SGF from May 2011 to May 29, 2015. During this period, specifically May 2012 to May 2015, the SGF Ecological Fund Account with the Central Bank of Nigeria received an inflow of N58,146,983,677.85.
“From this fund, three of the companies linked to Anyim, Foundation Years, Obis Associate and Eldyke Engineering received contracts worth over N13bn. Foundation Years alone received a net payment of N10,308,017,838.85 between 2014 and 2015.
“Curiously, on receiving the fund, Foundation Years and another Anyim company, Br-Kthru made several transfers to 37 entities. Some of the organisations and individuals have no nexus at all with ecological issues. Investigators are probing the reasons behind the wild disbursement.

El-Zakzaky: Shi’ites seek UN, EU, ECOWAS’ intervention
User Avatar Forum: Politics

Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, also known as Shi’ites, on Wednesday sought the intervention of the international community over the continued detention of the leader of the sect, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, wife and other members of the group by the Federal Government.
The IMN urged the United Nations, European Union, the Economic Community of West African States, as well as the International Criminal Courts to prevail on President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure fair treatment for Shi’ites.
Addressing a news conference in Kaduna, the Chairman, Free Zakzaky Campaign Committee, Sheikh Abdulhamid Bello,  also demanded the release of the corpses of  347 its members buried in a mass grave during its clash with the Nigerian Army in December 2015.

Bello said IMN still demanded an open, independent and impartial inquiry to unearth the truth, from the incident in Zaria in December 2015.
According to him, such an inquiry must have as members, persons with credible character, and there must be full participation of internationally-accepted human rights groups as observers.
He added that all those found to be responsible either in the planning or execution of the attacks on the group members must be brought to book, irrespective of their status.
He said, “Our leader, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, his wife and hundreds of our members were detained and our properties including residences, schools and Islamic centres demolished.
“The worst of all is that the persecution is ongoing, with no sign of abating at all. It appears as if it is the major project of the government of Muhammadu Buhari. Our leader remains in detention without charges, virtually incommunicado for two years, one year after a Federal High Court declared his detention as unconstitutional, a breach of his rights and freedom; and therefore ordered his unconditional release.
“Indeed, the continuous detention of Sheikh Ibrahim el-Zakzaky for almost two years without charges is a sour point in the human rights rating of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.”
He added, “We call on the international community, especially the UN, EU, AU, ECOWAS and the ICC to add more pressure on the government to live up to its responsibilities as regards the issue of the Islamic Movement in general and Sheikh Ibrahim el-Zakzaky in particular or be prepared to be ostracised and convicted.”
