AKA responds to reports of 'violence and drugs' in his relationship with late fiancée, Nelli Tembe, as photos of him violently breaking down a bedroom door where she was hiding” surfaces

South African rapper, AKA, has issued a public statement in response to reports of alleged “violence and drugs” in his relationship with his late fiancée Nelli Tembe.

The statement comes after News24 released images where “AKA can be seen using his hands to violently break down a wooden door to enter the bedroom in their apartment in Bryanston, Johannesburg where Tembe was hiding”.

[Image: 5e5b9f793f4847b792cae8132d091af3?quality=uhq&resize=720]

A close friend of Tembe, who spoke with the publication, said Tembe told her that the rapper smashed her face against a wall during a fight in their apartment after which she locked herself in the bedroom.

[Image: 244ceeb05ff64a6790561c98adb6b9af?quality=uhq&resize=720]

"She then sent me the video of the attack. AKA is so violent in the video that he breaks down the door of the room that Anele had locked herself in, whilst escaping his blows, with his bare hands. This is an attack that I want women to be shielded from." the woman, who requested anonymity out of fear of intimidation, wrote in a statement to News 24.

[Image: b84dd46f152744a3906befbbd4b8f478?quality=uhq&resize=720]

The incident allegedly took place on March 13.

The friend has also provided the video to Cape Town police, who are conducting an inquiry into her death.

She said in a statement to police: In the past few weeks, following the passing of my close friend Anele Tembe, I have been meditating and seeking guidance on what it is that I am to do in order to exercise my rights and to deliver on my responsibilities as a young adult in a country that fails to adequately protest its women and girls. The responsibility that I have is towards the many women and girls in this country, especially young women such as myself, who remain impressionable.

[Image: 8169558837aa42899efaa96f16355c14?quality=uhq&resize=720]

"Anele Tembe, who was dating and later became engaged to Kiernan 'AKA' Forbes, was a victim of severe violence at the hands of AKA, Anele was on numerous occasions physically and emotionally abused by AKA. My beloved friend was a victim of gender-based violence (GBV). As women, we are too quiet about the abuse that is happening behind closed doors. We must speak out! I am today speaking out."

[Image: 2465ef377dce45afb2085af28cde3233?quality=uhq&resize=720]

According to the woman, Tembe recorded her fiance breaking down the door in their Bryanston apartment. He had allegedly smashed her face against a wall during a fight, and she ran to the bedroom to escape. Tembe allegedly gave the footage to her friend, who also came to her rescue after the attack.

"Anele, on many nights, south protection from those close to her whenever AKA, whom she said became extra violent whenever he had taken drugs, attacked her, We often picked up Anele from AKA's house in the early hours of the morning following endless attacks on her by AKA."the friend said.

"Anele reported the incident to me. She then sent the video of the attack, " she added.

In one of the photos obtained by News 24, Tembe appeared in pain while placing ice packs on her body after allegedly being assaulted on March 13.

[Image: 187b2fbc2f5a4aac82f124346fb89667?quality=uhq&resize=720]

On Saturday afternoon May 8, AKA released a statement on Twitter, describing his relationship with Tembe as "beautiful, yet challenging, and saying he would not be drawn into exposing their troubles as a couple to defend himself against “one-sided views”.

He also slammed allegations that "drug use and incidents of violence" plagued the couple's relationship, labelling the reports an “attempt to disparage his name and Anele's character”.

“What makes it even sadder is the knowledge that some of the people, she and I loved and entrusted with our deepest troubles, are now using those as weapons to set a negative narrative on my character.

“I am a passionate and emotional person. What I will not do and stand for is watching people attempt to disparage my name and, importantly, Anele's to suit a narrative we both never signed up for,” said AKA.

Nelli died on April 11 after apparently falling from the 10th floor of the Pepperclub hotel in Cape Town. Her death is being investigated by police.

At Nelli's funeral on April 16, her father and prominent businessman Moses Tembe moved to set the record straight on circumstances surrounding her death.

“As Anele's father, I categorically state that Anele was neither suicidal nor did she commit suicide. We must as a matter of priority deal with the scourge that bedevils our youth. Alcohol which is overused and drugs. Fellow South Africans we better wake up and smell the coffee, we have a serious problem with substance abuse.

“I cannot allow an unfortunate narrative to go unchallenged, a narrative that irks me to no end ... that is 'Anele was chronically suicidal'. All I can say is, until Anele turned 21, not a single member of her family, my family would have associated her with suicide,” he said.

A 300 level student of the Kano University of Science and Technology (KUST), Wudil, Ahmad Abubakar Idris, has been found dead five days after he was reported missing.

It was gathered that the 22-year-old student of the Department of Physics went missing last Saturday, May 1, 2021, when he left the campus with two colleagues to a market in Kano (Farm Centre) to buy a mobile phone.

His corpse was discovered at a sand excavation site in Mariri at the outskirts of Kano after police arrested one of the colleagues who was with him before he went missing.

The father of the deceased, Abubakar Idris, who spoke to Daily Trust, said his son’s colleagues were suspected to have killed him because of the money in his possession.

Mr Idris said he had sent some money to the Ahmad to purchase a mobile phone for his brother.

He received a call on Saturday that his son was missing and rushed to Kano from Abuja on Thursday after informing the police.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command,  Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who confirmed the incident, said that two suspects have been arrested.

He said the commissioner of police in the state, CP Sama’ila Dikko, had ordered the case to be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department, Bompai for further investigation.

How Kayode Badru Died (Graphic Photos)

Quote:Kayode Badru’s Agonising Last Moments: How He Was Killed

Dubai based Celestial Church member who came to town to congratulate some members of the church he sponsored their academics, Kayode Badru died after being involved in fire accident at CCC Imole parish, Nureni Yusuf Way, Alagbado area of Lagos and not his mother’s church as earlier reported.

According to what a family member informed #cno, he said there was conspiracy involved in his death.

“While kneeling down, a prophet began to spray perfume on his body and he also held one candle in his hands surrounded by seven elders. Within a few minutes, his body was on fire due to his closeness to the candle sticks and strong attraction from the perfume.

He was rushed to a hospital in Gbagada, where he eventually died. But before he died, he told me, my brother, I heard a voice telling me, “is this how you are going to end your life” and immediately I tried to understand what that means and all I heard was an explosion and I was feeling so hot with fire burning me.”

My brother told me that the incident wasn’t natural and that if he died in this cause, his death would fight back. The shepherd in charge of the act, prophet Felix Alebiosu, ran away immediately the incident was reported at Panti. We went to arrest his dad, hours later he surfaced and the father was released the following day but he (Felix) came into the police custody without being remorseful. Two out of the seven elders are in Police custody while others are at large. The two are not even talking sensibly, I think they are under a kind of spell. People must be careful before going into any church to worship.

The police at Panti seems not taking the matter seriously as I learnt he is being treated like a VIP, my brother told me about some money involving him and Felix, the shepherd. There is more to it than meet the eyes.”

To so many people who have violated the order of the church by using their human knowledge to carryout out order of service, this should be a big lesson to them. The incident happened on Wednesday, May 5.

2023: Presidency Will Elude Ndigbo – Primate Ayodele

NEWS2023: Presidency will elude Ndigbo – Primate Ayodele

Quote:Primate Elijah Ayodele, the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church leader, has cautioned the Southeast against contesting the 2023 presidential election.

Primate Ayodele warned that the presidency would elude the Southeast in 2023.

He spoke while reacting to comments that the Igbo Presidency was the solution to Nigeria’s economic and insecurity challenges.

Some groups from the Southeast advocating for Nigeria’s next president to come from the region had stressed that the Igbo presidency was the panacea to the country’s woes.

However, Primate Ayodele, in an exclusive chat with DAILY POST, pointed out that the pendulum is not swinging towards the southeast.

He said: “Who said Igbo president is the solution? It’s not a matter of ethnicity or where you are coming from; as a matter of fact, we need a very good person that God has ordained to be our president.

“Igbo presidency is not the solution to Nigerians problem, I am not a politician but am speaking as a prophet not as a pastor because so many pastors have corrupted the system and can’t tell the truth because they believe they are of government interest. However, everybody is of government interests. If the government is not doing the right, there are some prophets that God will send to the nation, to the prime ministers in the bible, telling them that he is against their ruling. So people who are saying those right words; they will not want them.

So I am telling you that the 2023 presidency will elude the Igbo, mark my words; if they are looking for the presidency maybe they will wait for another time. The pendulum is not swinging towards the Igbos.

“I will say let’s do it rotationally when it’s Igbo turn, let them do it, but the spirit of Igbo is no more in Nigeria, and since their spirit is no more in Nigeria, the country will break peacefully.”

Take Me To Court, Bode George Dares Tinubu
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Quote:Chuks Okocha in Abuja

A chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olabode George, has dared the former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu to take him to court, if he was not corrupt.

He also challenged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to be bold enough to take Tinubu to court for corruption charges

George, a retired Commodore of the Nigerian Navy, said Tinubu had corruption cases hanging on his neck, calling on the EFCC to carry out an investigation into how the former Lagos Governor, allegedly stole over N34 billion through his company, Alpha Beta Consulting.

He spoke yesterday as a guest on Arise News ‘The Morning Show’ anchored by the trio of Dr. Reuben Abati, Tundun Abiola and Rufai Oseni and monitored by Prompt News.

The PDP chieftain, who once served as Military Governor of Ondo State, charged the EFCC Boss, Abdulrasheed Bawa, to be bold enough to reopen investigation into the Alpha Beta matter since the former managing director of the company, Oladapo Apara, had petitioned the anti-graft agency.

When reminded that he was making unsubstantiated allegations against the APC national leader and could be sued, the PDP chieftain retorted:

“Let us go to court so we both will be talking under oath. I am saying these allegations we have documents. EFCC has been investigating.

“The former managing director of Alpha Beta himself stated black and white how they have been siphoning the money of the Lagos state treasury…let him take me to court.

“We will go there, I will say my own and the papers will be there and let him defend himself. First of all, we want the original certificate of the University he claims he attended and exactly what is his own real name.

“Look, you want to get a clown to be your head, what you would breed would be a pool of clowns. We need people and there are people in this country. I am ready if he wants to take me to court.

“Bola Tinubu is an ‘Emperor’, God bless you if you are not part of his own line. You know what happened in the last election. Have you ever heard anywhere in the world where you have a bullion van on the day of election?

“Were they carrying food to his house? He was not arrested, he was not cocooned, he was not containerised and taken to the cooler.

“These are not things he had done in the dark..openly. So, why are you saying Bode George is this and all that, it is absolute nonsense,” he said.

Quote:A yet-to-be-identified Nigerian Army soldier has warned residents of Orlu town in Imo State to either relocate or be vigilant as some personnel had allegedly been given a shoot-at-sight order in the ongoing battle with the Eastern Security Network operatives.

The soldier, who spoke pidgin English in an audio obtained by SaharaReporters, added that he would not carry out the plan, and therefore, he had been allegedly marked by the army commander to be arrested and possibly killed.

Orlu has been a battleground of recent between the army and ESN operatives, with the military saying on Friday that it killed 11 ESN and IPOB operatives in a gun duel.

The soldier, who is attached to the 302 Artillery Regiment, Onitsha, Anambra State, warned residents of the town to relocate based on their commander's alleged order.

In the audio obtained by SaharaReporters, the soldier said, "They first carried us (deployed us) to Maiduguri (Borno State). Then, 25 of us came back hoping that the matter was ended. Then they carried us to 302 Artillery, Onitsha. All of us were inside the barracks in Onitsha till 12pm this afternoon.

"When the fight ended in Orlu, the commander now said anybody we see, we should fire them.

"I beg you, because of God, if your person is in Orlu, from now till Monday, try to inform them. Tell them to change the location for now. Immediately I left the barracks, the commander said I was going out to expose them and make sure they get me and kill me.

"See the cloth that I am putting on. I didn't buy these clothes with my money, if you follow this line, I was given this cloth and I have kept my uniform."

Etinosa Idemudia’s Second Marriage Crashes Less Than A Year

Quote:The second marriage of Nollywood actress and internet sensation, Etinosa Idemudia, has crashed after about eight months. The pair got married in September last year and welcomed their first child together in December.

However, the actress confirmed the collapse of the union on Saturday while reacting to a blog post that earlier announced the crash of the marriage.

In a now-deleted Instagram post, Idemudia slammed the blogger for also revealing her pregnancy months ago.

She wrote, “This ‘old witch’ again! I really do not want to reply to you but I feel you will never stop if I ignore. You were the first person to publicise my pregnancy that was barely trying to survive past the first trimester due to its complication. I kept quiet. Now you have come again and I know you have receipts and you won’t dare us to deny.

“I don’t blame you, it’s the close friend, the insider who is feeding you. May God forgive that person. Everyone is going through something including you. Thanks for getting this huge burden off my chest. You tried. But from now on, avoid me, Stella. T for Tenx.” (sic)

The actress had earlier claimed that her first marriage crashed due to domestic violence.

How Suspended NPA MD, Hadiza Bala Ceded Intels Terminals To Dangote
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-09-2021, 11:17 AM - No Replies

Quote:Suspended Nigeria Ports Authority Manager, Hadiza Bala, was involved in a clandestine ploy to shortchange a company in favour of Africa’s richest, Aliko Dangote, documents obtained have revealed.

Last year, some coastline terminals formerly operated by Integrated Logistics Services’ (INTELs) in Onne ports complex, Rivers state, were confiscated and subsequently awarded to Dangote through a proxy company, International Container Terminal Services (ICTS) Nigeria limited.

Onne Port Complex is the one of the largest Oil and Gas Free Zone in Africa, where major industry players from the exploration up to the completion phases operate.

The complex has two major terminals namely the Federal Ocean Terminal (FOT) and Federal Lighter Terminal (FLT).

For over a decade, INTELs Nigeria, partly owned by former Vice president, Atiku Abubakar, operated some berths at the Federal Ocean Terminal (FOT) of the complex, providing logistics services until 2020.

The three berths of FOT numbered 9, 10 and were taken over by the NPA in a controversial manner, which many thought was a move by President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration move to witch-hunt Abubakar, his opponent in the 2019 election and break the company’s monopoly

The NPA, in September 2020, issued a notice, announcing that the service operation handled by the Integrated Logistics Services (Intels) Nigeria had been terminated.

It went on to further state that all Service Boats Owners and Operators are to do transactions directly in each of the Port Complex of the Nigerian Ports Authority.

Meanwhile, a memo released to the press, seen by Business Kobo showed that Usman had transferred the berths confiscated from INTELs to ICTSI, a proxy company traced to Dangote, five months earlier.

The leaked memo, dated May 13, was signed by Yusuf Ahmed, NPA’s Director of Lands & Asset Admin on behalf Usman

“Please refer to the lease of land and berths 9, 10 and 11 granted to you at FOT Onne and find attached herewith the draft Lease Agreement for a review of its possible contents before the final copy is produced for execution,” the letter addressed to the managing director of ICTSI read.

Ahmed urged the company to send their comments for consideration

“A registered surveyor will be appointed to produce the survey plan of the property to incorporation in the Lease Agreement and you will be required to see the surveyors fees,” it further read.

This was not Usman’s first time dealing with Dangote as money transfers between the duo dates back to 2015.

A Nigerian newspaper, Peoples Gazette, had previously reported how Dangote transferred N200 million to a bank account run by Usman during the build up of the 2015 general election.

The transactions were sent in two tranches from two different bank accounts of the Africa’s richest man to Ms. Bala Usman’s account with Access Bank, the newspaper reported.

“Ms. Bala Usman received the first N100 million transfer on February 6, 2015; while the second N100 million came through three days later on February 9. The transfers carried ambiguous descriptions that made it difficult to conclude their purpose.”

Ms Bala was recently instructed to step aside for an independent investigation into a series of allegations of impropriety.

Nigeria’s transport minister, Rotimi Amaechi, also alleged that the yearly remittance of operating surpluses by the regulatory body from 2016 to 2020 was short of the amount due for actual remittance — a claim, which according to him, should be investigated.

While details of some of other allegations against Usman remain unclear, sources said acts of favouritism were part.

Herdsmen Killings: This Madness In Nigeria Must Stop – Umahi
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-09-2021, 11:13 AM - No Replies

Quote:The Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, has said that any herdsman coming to the South-East must conform to the culture of the people in the region.

Umahi, who is also the Chairman of the South-East Governors’ Forum, said herdsmen must stop any further killings of the innocent people of the zone.

He made this known at the weekend while addressing a mammoth crowd of believers, stakeholders and political leaders of the state during the ground finale of the 7 days praying and fasting organized by the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Ebonyi State chapter, which took place at the ecumenical centre Abakaliki.

DAILY POST gathered that the seven days praying and fasting organized by CAN was aimed at seeking Gods intervention on the increasing insecurity in Nigeria, in particular Ebonyi state, where lots of police stations razed, officers killed by unknown gunmen.

Umahi further warned that on no account should herdsmen attempt to kill people in the South-East zone, especially in Ebonyi, where some communities were recently attacked by herders killing 15 people.

According to Umahi: “Those people you think are your friends will become your enemies. No place will be safe. We are at war with ourselves. No herdsmen in the South East will make any attempt to kill anybody again.

“Nobody. Every herdsman coming to the South-East must to the culture of the people. Our people everywhere in South-South, South-West and in the north must conform to the culture of the people.

“Some herdsmen threatened that they would come and do this and do that, I said the last killing is the one that happened in the past. No time again will Ebonyi man or woman be killed. Never again. People have the effrontery to say herdsmen are coming to kill people. Let them try it again. That rubbish must stop.

“This madness in this country must stop. I see videos of Boko Haram ravaging places in the north unchecked. Where is our air fighting powers? We must not be ashamed to borrow fighter jets from other African countries. No nation will allow this kind of thing to be happening,” he stated.

Earlier in a remark, the Chairman of CAN Ebonyi State chapter, Rev. Fr. Abraham Nwali, charged the state’s citizens to give way for peace to reign in the state and shun all forms of violence in the state.

He warned people who are in the habit of sponsoring youths to go into war, desist or face God’s wrath.

GOFAMINT General Overseer, Abina Loses Son

Pastor (Dr.) E.O Abina loses his son, Pastor Emmanuel Folorunsho Abina last week.

Quote:
Pastor Elijah Abina, General Overseer of Faith Mission International (GOFAMINT), lost his 53-year-old son, Pastor Emmanuel Folorunso Abina, on Wednesday, April 28, eight days before the Adeboyes’ bereavement.

Sunday Vanguard could not confirm the circumstances of Emmanuel’s death, but a source close to GOFAMINT said he was until his transition, the Pastor in charge of the Kingdom House Assembly of the church located in Festac Town, Lagos. The deceased was also said to be the Director of Mediaof GOFAMINT, a position he took on part-time basis, while he was also the rallying point for youths in the church.

This January, Emmanuel was appointed into GOFAM[1]INT Executive Council for a three-year term. A statement by the church announcing the demise, signed by GOFAMINT General Secretary, Pastor S.O. Omowumi, said: “With heavy heart but in total submission to the sovereignty of the Supreme God, we announce the passing onto glory of our brother, our pastor and a member of the Executive Council of The Gospel Faith Mission International (GO[1]FAMINT), Pastor Emmanuel Folorunso Abina, on Wednesday, 28th April, 2021.“Gone too soon but we praise the Almighty God for the life Pastor Folorunso lived and the indelible impact he made in the church, particularly among the youth.

“May the Lord Jesus Christ comfort our General Overseer, the immediate and extended family as well as the church”. Meanwhile, a commendation service for Dare Adeboye will be held in Eket where he was Regional Pastor today. The deceased was the “miracle child” and the second biological son of Pastor Adeboye. He was his father’s look alike.

According to a release by the family, the body of the deceased, lying cold in the morgue of Babcock University, Ilisan-Remo, will be taken in a motorcade to the Redemption Camp—-the city which was created by his 79- old-father— where Pastor D, as he was fondly called, will finally rest in the vault there.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SUNDAY 9TH MAY.

DELIVERED AND TRANSLATED

Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son (Colossians 1:12-13).

Many assume and believe that one day, in the sweet-by-and-by, the Lord will graciously deliver us from the power of darkness. But Paul, by the Spirit, lets us know in our opening verse, that it’s already happened. Not only has the Father qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the Kingdom of light, He’s also “delivered” us from the power of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of His Love-son. Glorious news!

Notice the tenses used; they’re all in past: “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness…and hath translated us….” That’s why those who seek deliverance day in day out are just acting ignorantly. It’s inconsistent with God’s present truth.

God’s people don’t need deliverance from Satan or the powers of darkness. The only deliverance some may need is from ignorance, and the cure for that is the knowledge of God’s Word: “…through knowledge shall the just be delivered” (Proverbs 11:9).

Being born again, you’re not under Satan’s jurisdiction or authority. But that isn’t even the best part, because God doesn’t just “deliver” or bring you out to leave you; He brings you out to bring you in! Having taken you away from the domain of darkness, evil powers and all their works, He TRANSLATED you into the glorious Kingdom of the Son of His love.

Therefore, that you’re in the same compound or live in the same street or city, or work in the same office with someone who isn’t born again doesn’t mean you’re in the same “place.” You’re in Christ; they are of this world—in the kingdom of darkness, under Satan’s dominion. You’ve been raised up together, and made to sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. That’s where you are now: a place of glory, power, dominion, and authority. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION

Blessed be God! I live in the Kingdom of God’s Love-son, in His Light and dominion forever! I’m enthroned with Christ, in the realms of glory, where I exercise dominion over Satan, rule over the world and circumstances by the power of the Holy Spirit. Hallelujah!

#TALKINGSESSION

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word, which causes Your glory to shine forth with much intensity in my life and in all that I am connected with. As I meditate on the Word of faith, I experience victory, divine health, and blessings!

My life is an expression of Your supernatural grace, glory, perfection, beauty, and righteousness. I am continually metamorphosed from glory to glory.
My life is excellent and full of glory; I am crowned with righteousness and honour, and the pleasure of the Lord is prospering through me.

Christ is exalted in me today and evermore; my life is for His glory. Hallelujah! I’ve risen with Christ, and my affection is set on things above, where Christ sits at the right hand of God. I love You Lord with all my heart, and living for You is all that matters to me; to be relevant to the expansion of Your Kingdom, and the establishment of Your righteousness on earth. Hallelujah!

Christ has taken up His abode in my spirit, and I’ve become His living tabernacle and operational centre in the earth. I live the Christ-life and unveils His character, glory, wisdom, grace, and righteousness.

Through me, His beauty and perfections are revealed in my world, in an ever-increasing measure through the ability of the Holy Spirit at work in me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God bless you

Insecurity: El-Rufai one of those misleading Buhari – Benue Govt
on
 May 8, 2021

The Benue State Government has accused the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai of misleading President Muhammadu Buhari on issues of security in Nigeria.

DAILY POST reports that Governor El-Rufai had in a statement, accused his Benue counterpart, Governor Ortom of using the insecurity in Benue to attack the Federal Government in order to cover up his failure.
Reacting, in a statement issued on Saturday by Terver Akase, the Chief Press Secretary to the state governor, the state government said El-Rufai is unqualified to speak on security issues in the country owing to his inability to curb kidnapping and killings in his state.

The statement also accused the Governor of dividing the people of Kaduna State stressing that Ortom is not the cause of the high level of insecurity in Kaduna State.
The statement reads: “We want to believe that El-Rufai was wrongly quoted. A man who has failed in several aspects as Governor of Kaduna has no moral justification to accuse another Governor.
“A Governor who has divided the good people of Kaduna against one another by not hiding his hatred of indigenes of the state on account of religion and ethnicity is not qualified to judge another Governor on any issue whatsoever. A Governor who chose a Muslim deputy in a state where Christians have a huge population is certainly not one to preach unity and peaceful co-existence.

“El-Rufai’s attack on Governor Ortom is merely to make him look good before the Presidency. He has apparently fallen out of favour at the Villa and wants to use Governor Ortom as a launch pad back to reckoning. How has he handled his own problems in Kaduna? This is a man who has insulted almost every prominent Nigerian including the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and former President Olusegun Obasanjo; a man who is his former boss and one who brought him to limelight.

“Nigerians have not forgotten the unprintable things El-Rufai said during Goodluck Jonathan’s time as President. He insulted the then President and publicly supported terrorists attacking parts of the country. His statements on the abduction of Chibok girls and several other acts of terrorism are still fresh in our minds. El-Rufai is on record to have said repeatedly that Fulani people must retaliate any wrong done to them no matter how long it takes.

“Is Governor Ortom responsible for El-Rufai’s inability to ensure peace in Kaduna State where bandits have taken over some communities while kidnappings and killings occur on a daily basis?

‘El-Rufai admitted to paying Fulani herdsmen whom he invited from other West African countries in the name of stopping attacks in Southern Kaduna. Since he made the confessional statement, attacks on the people of Southern Kaduna have escalated. This is why he wants men of good conscience like Governor Ortom to be silent to pave the way for the conquest and expansion agenda to succeed.

“Kidnapping has become a common crime in Kaduna State under Nasir el-Rufai.

Aside from the much celebrated cases, it has been estimated that at every given time, not less than 300 persons are abducted in Kaduna by kidnappers who are always identified as El-Rufai’s kinsmen. He pays them billions to embolden them. He has turned the state into one of the most unsafe places to live in Nigeria today.

“Talking about taking someone seriously, if other Nigerians take El-Rufai seriously, we in Benue do not do the same. A man who has no regard for humanity does not deserve our attention.

“Nasir el-Rufai is a sycophant, ethnic champion and religious bigot who hates anyone who does not share the same faith with him. He is among the very few persons who have misled President Muhammadu Buhari. El-Rufai is one of the real enemies of this country who do not hide their divisive tendencies by elevating nepotism and ethnicity above the good values that have held Nigeria together over the decades.

“Nasir el-Rufai doesn’t possess the credentials to counsel anyone on payment of salaries and the welfare of workers. This is a Governor who recently sacked 4,000 workers for no just cause. He ought to be ashamed of himself. What happened to the lofty promises he made to the Kaduna people in 2015?

“The Kaduna Governor should know that only two days ago, the people of Benue State met at a stakeholders meeting in Makurdi and unanimously passed a vote of confidence on Governor Ortom in recognition of his performance. That meeting was attended across party lines with leaders of All Progressives Congress, APC also present.

“El-Rufai and his conspirators must note that Benue State will not repeal the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law, no matter the amount of blackmail, hatred and threats they wage against Governor Ortom.

“We advise the Kaduna State Governor to focus on addressing the numerous problems he has created in his state and leave Governor Ortom to lead Benue in peace”.

Man Batters Amputee Nursing Wife, Sends Her and Baby Away (Photos)

By Wisdom Nwedene

A Nigerian man Mr. Uche Opara is in the news for the wrong reason after he allegedly gave his own wife Cynthia Amaka Okoro, the beating of her life despite being a nursing mother and an amputee.

Mrs Okoro who hails from Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State, is now suffering the aftermath of the severe beatings from her husband that almost cost her, her dear life.

Findings by Igbere TV revealed that the amputee who is a graduate of the Imo State Polytechnic, has been suffering domestic violence for years immediately she met her husband in 2019.

Mrs Okoro who lost one of her legs to an accident that almost took her life about eight years ago, now feeds from hand-to-mouth due to her condition as she is unable to secure a pay job.

In an exclusive interview with Igbere TV, the Physics graduate said she had to run away from her marriage with her baby who is currently sick after she was almost beaten to death by her husband.

The accused husband Mr. Uche Opara could not be immediately reached for comment. But sources close to the embattled couple confirmed the development to Igbere TV.

One of the sources, who craved anonymity, recalled how the amputee nursing mother tried to reach out to her on several occasions but she(our source) could not do much to help.

To survive, the amputee says she now hawks meat-pie in Lagos to support herself and her baby after being accommodated by a Facebook friend who saw her deteriorating condition.

She further revealed that her mother rejected and disowned her because she(the mother) has always been against her (Cynthia) getting pregnant for a man who has not paid her pride price nor done any traditional marriage rites for her people.

According to her, “One of my legs was cut off as as a result of an accident which happened 8 years back, and has put a pause to my dream of getting a job.

“Although, life has been difficult ever since my dad, the bread-winner passed away, and then I crossed path with the father of my child in 2019, who happened to be an abuser.

“Though I got pregnant for him but had to run away because he beats me at any slight opportunity he gets. After being delivered of the baby, I went to my sister’s house since my mother won’t accept the child as she saw me as a family disgrace.

“Few weeks later, the father of the child came begging, I gave him a second chance, not knowing it was a second chance to kill me, I was beaten almost to death, and again, I had to run away back to my sister’s place, but was turned down as she lamented that her husband never welcomed the idea of me staying with them.”

Mrs. Okoro is unable to pursue any formal case against her abusive husband as she is more occupied with how to survive the next day in a harsh Nigerian economy. She and her baby survive on the little change she makes from hawking meat-pie on the streets of Lagos.

I Was Promised Salesgirl Job In Ogun But Turned Into Sex Slave – Teen (pic)

I was promised salesgirl job in Ogun but turned into sex slave – 16-year-old Cross River girl

Quote:Abigail (pseudonym) was said to have gone out with ‘a customer’ around 2pm on Wednesday, April 28, when our correspondent visited Kolab Hotel along Ayetoro Road, Ogun State and wouldn’t return until ‘DB.’

By the acronym, a skimpily-dressed young woman approached by Saturday PUNCH meant 16-year-old Abigail was on an all-night romp affair with a client and would not come back until daybreak of the following day.

Our correspondent had got a lead that underage girls are being forced into prostitution at a bungalow on the hotel premises by a woman identified simply as Madam Nelly and that some of them including Abigail yearned for freedom.

“I was around that day,” Abigail said during an encounter with our correspondent on Tuesday. “I was locked inside the room because policemen were patrolling. Madam Nelly doesn’t allow me and other young girls to go out. Men come to ‘sleep with’ us inside our rooms,” she mumbled.

This correspondent posed as a client to have access to Abigail inside a dingy room she was kept. Slim and light-complexioned, her face was etched with frustration as this correspondent entered the small apartment partitioned with a piece of wood raised at mid-level.

She sluggishly began to pack items on the bare floor and lay the bed, thinking she was in for another romp. “You can have your seat,” she intoned, struggling to breathe.

After being told that the mission was not amorous, Abigail opened up on the excruciating experience she has been subjected to since she arrived at the hotel about six months ago.

She said, “One Aunty Bright brought me and my cousin here from Calabar. She told me I would be helping Madam Nelly to sell food and that after some months, the woman would give me money so that I can go back to the village to continue my school. She didn’t tell me the amount the woman would give me. I noticed that Madam Nelly gave her money before she left but I don’t know the amount.
“I dropped out at SS 1 because my father didn’t pay my school fees. He threw out my luggage and told me not to come to his house again. I don’t know my offence. He had two wives, including my mother who died about two years ago.”

She realised that the salesgirl job was phony when Madam Nelly changed her real name to Abigail and told her to always abide by her rules.

“I was shocked when Madam Nelly began to bring men to me in the room,” she remarked, casting a painful look at a dusty ceiling fan hung across her room and the adjoining one. “I cannot count the number of men who have had sex with me. I am tired but Madam Nelly would not let me go,” she lamented.

She stated, “It is madam who collects the money. She only comes here in the night to collect the money from one Rasheed whom she told me to always report to. I don’t like this place but whenever I complain, madam will threaten to take me to where she took my cousin, Esther. She is just 15 years. I don’t know where she took her to. I only saw her once since we got here.

“I only have two meals every day, in the morning and evening. At times, I will take garri (soaked in water). I am tired; I want to go back home.”

Abigail told Saturday PUNCH that Nelly had promised twice, in December and during the last Easter, to facilitate her return to Calabar but failed.

She added, “We are not allowed to use phones and I don’t know any phone number of my relations off hand. I don’t know the number of girls here but we are many. I want to go back to school. Whenever I am sick, madam will bring someone to treat me. She has instructed me to always lock the door when police are around. They usually come every week to collect money from her but I don’t know how much she gives them.”

The area is under the jurisdiction of the Itele Police Division although our correspondent could not establish if the policemen Abigail referred to were from the station.

After about 20 minutes’ chat, our correspondent gave Abigail N500 which she said Rasheed would soon come to collect as other girls would have told him of her latest client. “Please, I am tired; I want to leave here,” Abigail appealed grimly as our correspondent left her room.

Some youths suspected to be peddling drugs were also seen loitering around the hotel premises.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun State, Abimbola Oyeyemi, promised that the command would investigate our correspondent’s findings and act appropriately. “The police will investigate your claim and do the needful,” he said.

Murdered Akwa Ibom job-seeker, Ini Umoren, emerges one of the top in her graduating class

Iniubong Umoren, the Akwa Ibom job-seeker who was raped and killed when a man lured her on social media with a fake job interview, has emerged as one of the top students in her graduating class.

Ini, 26, who graduated from the Department of Philosophy, University of Uyo, graduated with a GPA of 4.12, making her the seventh among the top graduating students in the 2018/2019 class.

This was revealed in the final result released by the University of Uyo.

Idorenyin Esikot, associate professor and acting head, Department of Philosophy, University of Uyo, who confirmed the authenticity of the result to Premium Times, said Miss Umoren, with such remarkable performance, would have possibly been employed as a lecturer in the department after her mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.

Speaking about Iniobong Umore, Mr Esikot told Premium Times, "She was a very committed and focused student, very hard working. In fact, she was very versatile because apart from her academics, she was a footballer, playing for our female team.

"She was very social and dependable; she wasn’t the kind of student that would play around. Whatever she does, she was very committed,."

Mr Esikot said Miss Umoren’s tragic end was a personal loss to him. "Anytime I remember it, it’s like a nightmare. Very unfortunate."

"If she had been alive and wanted to come into the (teaching) profession, she is the kind of student we would encourage to come into the profession. Because that is a student that never failed a course and was always doing well. Those who know my department, before you can come out top the way she did, then you must agree that she was really hard working.

"We have some of our colleagues, who are lecturers (today), who graduated with less GPA than her," Mr Esikot said.

Lagos Commissioner of Police debunks claim of Oshodi market fire being caused by explosives

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Hakeem Odumosu has dismissed rumour of the fire incident at Kairo market in Oshodi being caused by explosives.

Odumosu who conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the damages at the market on Friday May 7, said the Explosive Ordinance Department of the State Police Command has not discovered any bomb at the scene of the incident, and therefore the fire could not have been caused by a bomb explosion.

He said;

Quote:“We have seen what happened and we give God the glory no lives were lost. No matter the values of things that were lost, it cannot be compared with lives. We also thank God that the portion that got burnt is not more than the area not burnt.

“Since it started, I have deployed my men and they have been on the ground. My coming is to have a physical assessment of what happened. We are to ensure there is no breakdown of law and order here.

“The rumour going around that it was a bomb should be dismissed.
"The tension is already high in the country and we should not make inflammatory statements.

"That’s why I am here with my technical team, the bomb experts in the police and they have gone round and no proof the fire was caused by a bomb. It has been ruled out that there was a bomb explosion here. No bomb was found here. So people should allow the fire service and the police to conduct their investigation and when the report from their laboratory comes out, we will make a statement."

He appealed to those who lost their goods to the fire, saying efforts are ongoing to involve the state government to come to their aid.

Odumosu added;

Quote:“We only appeal to the people to control their annoyance and emotion. Whoever is aggrieved, we are appealing to them not to take it too far because we are not going to allow the breakdown of law and order.

"We are deploying our men here both in mufti and uniform. We are up to the task and the chairman will seek palliatives from the governor for those affected. We keep appealing to the people to be patient. The chairman will take it up politically while I take it up to security wise."

Quote:15 YEAR OLD VIRGIN GANG-RAPED BY SEVEN MEN IN ISSELE-UKU, DELTA STATE.
Our attention was drawn to a case of a young girl aged 15 who was raped by seven able bodied men in Issele-Uku yesterday.

The young girl had issues with a woman in the community, her son, one of the culprits whom she saw as a big uncle called her to hear her side of the story, she got there at about 7pm in the evening. As she was trying to explain what happened to the man, he dragged her inside the room where 6 of his friends were waiting, turned on the music, increased the volume so that nobody would hear their heinous act and then took turns on this young girl.

She sustained 2° perineal tear, bleeding profusely and was in severe pains. Some indigenes took her to the hospital in the community where it was certified that hymen was torn jaggedly.

Behind Bars Family led by Harrison Gwamnishu stepped in and took her to Asaba Specialist Hospital for further medical care.

A Wisconsin man who punched his 5-year-old son to death over a slice of cake has pleaded guilty to homicide.

Travis Stackhouse, 30, pleaded to second-degree reckless homicide, child abuse, and child neglect this week in the June 2019 death of his 5-year-old son, Sir Amer Stackhouse, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

His guilty plea came after two days of witness testimony in his trial and after prosecutors introduced his taped confession as evidence, according to the report.

Prosecutors alleged that the father was upset that his children were eating most of his Father’s Day cheesecake, and punched his son and smacked the boy’s face with the back of his hand, which contains metal from a surgery, according to the newspaper.

The child was reportedly pronounced dead early the next morning after Stackhouse returned from a bar and the family called 911.

Sir Amer suffered a ruptured stomach, bruised kidneys, and a torn adrenal gland, and died from blunt force trauma to the abdomen, the article said.

Stackhouse faces 37 years in prison when he is sentenced next month.

APC has dragged Nigeria 50 years backwards - Governor Nyesom Wike

Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) which is the ruling party, has dragged Nigeria 50 years backwards due to its "abysmal performance."

The governor said this when the Vice President of Rotary Club of Port Harcourt, Obiageli Ejezie, led other leaders of the association to the Government House, Port Harcourt, to confer on him the “2019/2020 Good Governance Award” for his outstanding achievements in project execution in Rivers.

Speaking to the delegation in his office, Governor Wike said in 2015, the APC convinced Nigerians that they were going to offer better governance than former President Goodluck Jonathan. He said going by the results of the APC since it came into power in 2015, Nigeria has only being retrogressing under the its leadership.

Quote:''There can’t be good governance without security and this is based on rule of law. All of us are living witnesses in 2015 when it was alleged that the government of former President Goodluck Jonathan could not perform.  So Nigeria needed a change. What has happened to the change? They have taken Nigeria back by 50 years”.

Now, you wake up every morning, students are being kidnapped in so and so state university, people have been killed in so and so state. So, it has become a norm.

Just wake up in the morning and the first thing you will see on the front page of dailies is 10 people have been kidnapped in Niger State; 20 have been killed in Zamfara State, 5 have been killed in Imo and this happens virtually every day.  So, where are we heading to?”he asked

High profile Nigerians to face prosecution for financing terrorism - AGF Abubakar Malami

The Attorney-General of the Federation has disclosed that some high profile Nigerians will be facing prosecution for financing terrorism.

This is coming after over 400 businessmen were arrested in an operation coordinated by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), and in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Malami who addressed newsmen on Friday May 7, said the arrest of some of the suspects followed the recent conviction of some Nigerians for financing terrorism in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He also disclosed that gave rise to a wider and far-reaching investigation in Nigeria.

He said;

Quote:“As you will actually know, some time back, there were certain convictions of Nigerians allegedly involved in terrorism financing in the United Arab Emirates.

“That gave rise to a wider and far-reaching investigation in Nigeria and I’m happy to report that arising from the wider coverage investigation that has been conducted in Nigeria, a number of people, both institutional and otherwise, were found to be culpable.

“I mean reasonable grounds for suspicion of terrorism financing have been established, or perhaps has been proven to be in existence in respect of the transactions of certain higher profile individuals and businessmen across the country.

“I’m happy to report that investigation has been ongoing for long and it has reached an advanced stage.
“Arising from the investigation, there exists, certainly, reasonable grounds for suspicion that a lot of Nigerians, high-profile, institutional and otherwise, are involved in terrorism financing and they are being profiled for prosecution.

“In essence, it is indeed true that the government is prosecuting and it’s indeed initiating processes of prosecuting those high-profile individuals that are found to be financing terrorism. It is indeed true.”

Malami who did not give the number of suspects being investigated, stated that anyone found culpable will face the full wrath of the law.

He added;

Quote:“As to the number, investigation is ongoing and it has to be conclusive before one can arrive at a certain number. But one thing I can tell you is it is a large number and they are being profiled for prosecution,” he said.

“It is indeed a large number and I’m not in a position to give you the precise number as at now, because the profiling and investigation are ongoing.

“The message is clear; nobody is going to be spared. No stone will be left unturned. We shall certainly and aggressively pursue those people that are involved in terrorist financing as far as the Nigerian state is concerned."

Quote:Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan: ABU’s First Acting Female SUG President

Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan popularly known as “Mama Taraba” is a distinguished Abusite and prominent Nigerian politician who is a former minister of women affairs and former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from Taraba North Senatorial District.

She was also APC’s Gubernatorial Candidate for Taraba State in the 2015 general elections. She contested for the same seat on the platform of the UDP in the 2019 general elections.

Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan was born on the 16th of September, 1959 in Jalingo, Taraba State, to Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim OON, Sarkin Ayukan Muri.

Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan attended Muhammed Nya Primary School, Jalingo and LEA Primary School, Tudun Wada, Kaduna before proceeding to Saint Faith College (now GGSS) Kawo Kaduna where she studied between Jan. 1973 – June 1977.

She was among the first set to do 4½ years in Secondary School because of the change of commencement of the school year from January to September.

She proceeded to the School of Basic Studies (SBS) Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria from July 1977 to July 1979 for her preliminary studies.

Hajia Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan Joined student politics at ABU Main Campus in 1977 when she was a little over 18 years. She Contested for the post of Vice President of the SUG in 1978. The first time by a non-undergraduate. Based on the informal political arrangement at this time, the position of Vice President was always reserved for women and winners always emerged un-opposed.

But it was different this time, 1978. For the first time, three female students contested for the position. A female student Elizabeth (Lizzy) Wambebe then an undergraduate studying Fine Arts and Lead Vocalist of ABU JAZZ Club was a strong contender. Also, for the first time too, a male undergraduate contested for the position.

Despite the fact that she was a prelim student and perceived by some to be an underdog, she won the election and became the Vice President and only female in the SUG Exco of that year (1978 – 1979) headed by Mal. Abdulhameed Imam, who was the president.

The Secretary-General was Comrade Isa Bala Lawal while Assistant Secretary-General was Comrade AbdulRahman Black of blessed memory.

All members of SUGExco of that year except Aisha were undergraduates and males. During their tenure, there was a student crisis as a result of which some of the Exco members including the President were indicted and expelled from the University. As a result, Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan became the Acting President and completed the Tenure of Mal. Abdulhameed Imam.

During her days as an SBS ABU Student and Vice President/Acting President SUG Main Campus, she met her first husband and father of her three children, Professor Ango Abdullahi who was then the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. He always represented the then Vice-Chancellor Prof. O. O. Akinkugbe at meetings with the SUG Exco.

She married Prof. Ango Abdullahi in September 1979 after completing her SBS when her husband was still the Deputy Vice-Chancellor. He became Vice-Chancellor three months after their marriage, in December 1979. Due to her new status as a wife and mother, she switched over from being a Science Student to Arts after her first baby (girl) in 1980.

That same year (1980), Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan enrolled for a Diploma in Law at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. She had to start from the Diploma because of her pure science background. She was lacking the required Arts subjects to enroll for LLB. She proceeded to read LLB at the same ABU Zaria from October 1982 to June 1985. She went to the Nigerian Law School Lagos 1985 – 1986, was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1986 and did her NYSC 1986 – 1987.

AISHA JUMMAI AL-HASSAN’S CAREER

Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan Started work as a Magistrate Grade II in April 1988 in the Kaduna State Judiciary. Went for the Technical Aid Corps Programme of the Federal Ministry Of Foreign Affairs (on Secondment) to the Republic of Fiji from 1990 – 1992.

She was admitted to the Fijian Bar and enrolled as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of Fiji in 1991. While she was in Fiji, her services were transferred from Kaduna State Judiciary to FCT Judiciary in 1991 as Magistrate Grade I.

She Returned to FCT Judiciary after the handing over to a Democratically elected Government in May 1999 and continued in her office as Director Litigation. She was appointed the first female Secretary of the FCT Judicial Service Committee in November 2002.

She was appointed the first female Chief Registrar of the High Court of the FCT in December 2003. She voluntarily retired from the FCT Judiciary as Chief Registrar on the 31st of December, 2009.

Her family has always been a political family even before the time of her birth. Her father joined politics (NCNC) when he was a student at Barewa College Zaria. He later joined NPC in the First Republic. He was one of the conveners of NPC in Muri Division and was the first NPC Secretary of Muri Division.

He contested election under NPC in 1959 for the House of Representatives in one of the 3 Muri Division Constituencies. He was re-elected for the second term after 4 years but could not finish the term because of the coup in 1966.

Aisha Jummai’s elder brother is former Senator Abdulazeez Ibrahim. He represented Taraba North Senatorial District from 1999-2007.

HER POLITICAL CAREER

Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan joined the PDP as a member in the year 2005 while still working in the Judiciary but she was NOT politically active. She started active politics in October 2010 and immediately went to contest for the Senatorial seat of her Zone.

She won the election and was sworn in as Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on 6th June 2011, the day the 7th Senate was inaugurated.

In the 9 April 2011 elections, Jummai won with 114,131 votes, followed by Jolly Nyame of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) with 92,004 votes. She was one of four women elected on the PDP ticket, the others being Nkechi Nwaogu (Abia Central), Helen Esuene (Akwa Ibom South) and Nenadi Usman (Kaduna South). Following the election, she was said to have been in competition for the Senate President’s seat.

She contested for the position of governor of Taraba State under the APC’s ticket in 2015 lost. In November 2015, she was declared the winner of the April 2015 Taraba state gubernatorial election by the tribunal. The judgment was appealed and she subsequently lost the case.

She was appointed as the minister of women affairs by President Mohammadu Buhari in November 2015. Meanwhile, in a series of events leading up to the 2019 general elections, Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan resigned her ministerial position and membership of the ruling APC.

In her resignation letter to the president, she states; “I write with a lot of respect to inform Mr. President of my decision to resign my appointment as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC),” Alhassan stated in her resignation letter. Barely six hours of her resignation as a member of President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet, Aisha Alhassan joined the United Democratic Party, UDP.

She was subsequently nominated as the gubernatorial candidate of the party and unsuccessfully contested the 2019 general election which she lost.

They are astonished and think it very queer that you do not now run hand in hand with them in the same excesses of dissipation, and they abuse [you] (1 Peter 4:4 AMPC).

All your life, you must have been hearing that the coming of the Lord is near. But make no mistakes about it, it’s closer now than you can imagine. Your role is to be prepared, and look forward to His return. Be one of those eagerly awaiting His return.

He said in Luke 21:34-36, _*“And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.”
1 Thessalonians 5:2-3 says,
“For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.” The Word shows us that these things will be fulfilled towards the ending of time, and we’re in those days that the Scriptures talk about. We can truly see all the prophetic signs manifesting right before our eyes.

Now, Hebrews 2:3 cautions, “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation….” Be sure that your life is in sync with God, living according to His Word. Don’t be ashamed to stand up for the Lord. He stood up for you, and saved you. Don’t be ashamed that they may call you names, insult you and even persecute you; live for the Lord.

The Bible says it’s better to suffer persecutions for doing the right thing than to join those who live in error. If they ostracize you for believing in Jesus, it makes no difference; Jesus loves you. If they forsake you, He won’t forsake you; He’s always in you and with you.

Therefore, distinguish yourself for the Lord. That’s what God wants you to do.
Remember, the Rapture itself doesn’t have a sign. In other words, it can happen anytime. Therefore, serve the Lord heartily and with joy, so that when He comes, He’ll meet you aglow, and burning with the Spirit, serving the Lord.

PRAYER

Blessed Father, what an honour to be counted among those to escape the destruction that’s coming on the world! As I earnestly look to your appearing, I’m aglow and burning with the Spirit, serving you heartily, and joyfully, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

1 Peter 4:1-7 AMPC
So, since Christ suffered in the flesh for us, for you, arm yourselves with the same thought and purpose [patiently to suffer rather than fail to please God]. For whoever has suffered in the flesh [having the mind of Christ] is done with [intentional] sin [has stopped pleasing himself and the world, and pleases God], 2 So that he can no longer spend the rest of his natural life living by [his] human appetites and desires, but [he lives] for what God wills. 3 For the time that is past already suffices for doing what the Gentiles like to do—living [as you have done] in shameless, insolent wantonness, in lustful desires, drunkenness, reveling, drinking bouts and abominable, lawless idolatries. 4 They are astonished and think it very queer that you do not now run hand in hand with them in the same excesses of dissipation, and they abuse [you]. 5 But they will have to give an account to Him Who is ready to judge and pass sentence on the living and the dead. 6 For this is why the good news (the Gospel) was preached [in their lifetime] even to the dead, that though judged in fleshly bodies as men are, they might live in the spirit as God does. 7 But the end and culmination of all things has now come near; keep sound minded and self-restrained and alert therefore for [the practice of] prayer.

Melinda Gates Is Now A Billionaire, After A Stock Transfer From Her Ex Husband

Quote:Earlier this week, Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates announced their divorce. On that same day, Melinda Gates became a billionaire.

Cascade Investment, Bill Gate’s investment vehicle, transferred nearly $2.4 billion in securities to Melinda Gates on Monday. The next day his net worth dropped slightly, from $130.4 billion to $128.1 billion, according to Forbes.

However, Bill Gates maintained his status as the fourth richest person in the world. He falls behind Jeff Bezos ($177 billion), Elon Musk ($157 billion) and Bernard Arnault and family ($150 billion).

Melinda Gates received 2.94 million shares of AutoNation and 14.1 million shares of Canadian National Railway Co., according to Forbes. AutoNation is worth $309 million and Canadian National Railway Co. is worth an estimated $1.5 billion.

Melinda Gates also received 25.8 million shares of Mexico-based Coca-Cola Femsa — worth $120 million — and 155.4 million shares of Mexican broadcaster Grupo Televisa SA — worth $386 million.

Up until 2000, Bill was Microsoft’s CEO, and he later moved out of a daily role with the company in 2008. Until 2014, he served as chairman of the board and announced just last year he was stepping down to focus on philanthropy.

In 2000, the couple founded The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, a nonprofit organization that has spent more than $53 billion since its formation to target poverty and inequity worldwide, according to the foundation's website.

Melinda Gates, who was a product manager at Microsoft, met Bill Gates at a business dinner in New York City. They were married in Hawaii in 1994.

The couple’s divorce filings show they asked a judge in Washington state to divide their assets based on the terms of a separation contract, usually issued when spouses are living apart but have not yet divorced, according to Forbes.

The terms of the contract weren’t disclosed.

Ex-IPOB Deputy Accuses Nnamdi Kanu Of Being In Control Of Unknown Gunmen

By Wisdom Nwedene

Former Deputy of the Indigenous People Of Biafra, Mazi Uche Mefor has accused his ex boss, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu of being in control of the unknown gunmen and the insecurity ravaging the South East.

Uche Mefor said Nnamdi Kanu lied against some of them, called them traitors, mobilised IPOB zealots to blackmail and defame them and many others for advising Nnamdi Kanu against taking avoidable perilous, and suicidal mission such as the killing of eight "Biafran youths in Imo State.

IGBERE TV had reported that Joint security operatives on Thursday night killed no fewer than eight hoodlums after they resisted an attack on Orlu Divisional Police Headquarters in Imo state from unknown gunmen.

The joint security operatives also recovered seven vehicles the attackers came in for the operation.

Reacting via a statement released on Friday accompanied with pictures of the ugly incident Imo State, Mefor said the attackers killed by security operatives are "Biafran youths".

He accused Nnamdi Kanu of trying to be an emperor and that is why he refused to consult adequately with important stakeholders.

The statement reads,

"A devastatingly sad situation.May the souls these valiant, gallant Biafran youths continue to rest in peace."

"A seriously flawed strategy that lacks dept, tact and finesse, we repeat. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, you lied against many of us, called us traitors, mobilised your anarchic IPOB zealots to blackmail and defame us and many others for advising you against taking avoidable perilous, and suicidal mission like this. Why are you hiding the casualties? "

"We maintain that the issue of security is not a one-man, unilateral show but a collaborative and collective endeavour."

"You want to be an emperor and that is why you refused to consult adequately with important stakeholders. But you should have been reminded that Biafraland is not an empire."

"We ask this questions again: who are the victims and casualties of this avoidable self-inflicted, self-destructive, violent campaign of threat, horror , violence and vendetta? Why wilfully making Biafraland a theatre of war/battlefield and that of hostilities?"

"The effect of this fundamentally jaundiced strategy is that Biafraland is likely to be heavily militarised and militantised at the expense of monumental loss of lives of our youths, economic strangulation and potential, indeterminate humanitarian crisis while other parts of Nigeria will remain peaceful due to absence of effective strategy."

Quote:BBNaija Winner, Mercy Eke Denies Allegation Of Having Sexual Affairs With Super Eagles Star

Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) winner, Mercy Eke has denied allegations circulating in social media that she destroyed the marriage of Super Eagles striker, Aaron Samuel due to alleged sexual affairs.

Reports on some online blogs have it that Mercy and Samuel’s escapade was supposed to be a “one night stand” but their affair continued until his wife got to know about it.

Recall that Aaron and Chinwe married in 2018 (Both registry and traditional) and are blessed with two children.

Reacting to the alleged reports, Mercy in a chat with Nigerian blog Stella’s blog, denied ever having an affair with the Nigerian international footballer and warned the said blogger to desist from denting her image.

”Whoever is behind this pack of lies will never know peace since this person does not want to let me rest. If it is true I am guilty may I never know peace or anything good come to me but if I am innocent, whoever is behind this is doomed and will never know peace… what is my business with him? I know him but have nothing romantic with him. He is a ‘boy’ to someone I know and I can never stoop that low.

“Please I don’t f#ck small boys, I don’t have anything to do with small boys. I really didn’t want to address this but since you called me I have no choice but to respond to your questions. Thank you for reaching out”

Serial rapist attacked five women in 11 days after stalking them off train stations and dragging them into bushes

A serial rapist, Abdallah Baballah, 25, struck five times in 11 days after stalking women off trains and buses and dragging them into bushes, it has been revealed.

Baballah followed his victims as they left London Tube stations and bus stops then he sexually assaulted and threatened to stab them.

The former Barking and Dagenham College student followed his first victim off the N15 night bus in Plaistow, East London, at around 2.30am on July 1, 2019.

He told his victim: "Give me your phone or I'll stab you", before dragging the woman into a quiet street and raping her three times, a court heard.

He then stole cash from her wallet but returned her phone and identity cards.

Baballah targeted his second victim after she got off a train at Leyton underground station five days later on July 6 at around 3am.

He grabbed hold of her and told her he had a knife as he snatched her phone from her.

Baballah, from Sudan, told the woman he would return her mobile if she performed oral sex on him, jurors at Snaresbrook Crown Court were told.

But the victim luckily managed to escape when a member of the public walked by.

An hour later, just after 4am, Baballah attacked another woman in Leyton.

He took her phone and ring, then raped her before punching her in the face, the court heard.

Baballah, not willing to stop his rape rage, attacked his fourth victim on July 8, 2019, at around 3am after she got off an N15 bus in Dagenham.

He demanded she hand over her phone and chased her down the street, the court heard.

The victim started to scream but Baballah lashed out and struck her in the face before trying to cover her mouth, before eventually fleeing with her bag and phone.

The final victim was attacked after she got off the N15 night bus in East Ham in the early hours of July 11 that same year.

Baballah dragged her into a side road before throwing her to the ground and attempting to keep her down with a punch.

The woman managed to fight him off, breaking free to run to a member of the public who emerged from his home upon hearing her screams.

Baballah again ran off with the woman's bag and phone.

In defence, Baballah said all five of his victims had consented to his sexual encounter with him.

He claimed to the jury that many of these encounters were consensual.

Prosecutor Karen Phillips said: "This violent and depraved man has at every turn tried to divert responsibility away from himself by callously claiming that many of these encounters were consensual. They were not.

"Baballah targeted women on their way home and in most cases threatened them with physical violence unless they carried out sexual acts.
"Despite suffering such terrifying experiences, I must pay tribute to these five immensely brave women.
"As a result of their courage a dangerous man is no longer on the streets.
"I hope that his conviction provides them with some sense of comfort and allows them to move on with their lives."

Prosecutors told Jurors how Baballah had searched for articles about serial rapist Joseph McCann before carrying out his attacks.

McCann was one of the UK's worst criminals with a record stretching all the way back to when he was just 14.

In 2019, he kidnapped and raped 11 people, including an 11-year-old boy, during a two-week cocaine-fuelled rampage after being mistakenly freed from jail.

Baballah had also looked up "man raped two women in east London", "rape rule in Britain" and viewed numerous pornographic videos.

Baballah was arrested on July 25 after police officers spotted him around East Ham.

He was found guilty of nine counts including rape, attempted rape and robbery following a trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

He will be sentenced on July 30, 2021.

President Buhari should speak to us… we didn’t vote for Garba Shehu or Femi Adesina - Dino Melaye

Senator Dino Melaye has asked President Buhari to come out and address Nigerians as people voted for him and not his media aides, Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu.

Melaye said this when he granted an interview on AIT today May 7. According to him, President Buhari’s silence is detrimental to the war against insecurity in the country. He asked the president to resign "in the interest of Nigerians who are dying."

Quote:“President Buhari needs to speak to Nigerians directly, he needs to communicate with the media. Our president is absent, and this has negative concomitant effects on the war against insecurity in the country.

It is very pathetic, but our president is not available. All we hear is presidency says, we didn’t vote for Garba Shehu or Femi Adesina.

All our security challenges boils down to leadership failure, the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is grossly incompetent, not capable and all I expect is that since this man has shown more than enough evidence that he has no capacity to run this country.

President Buhari should, in the interest of children yet unborn, in the interest of Nigerians that are dying, excuse us. It is simple, he should resign.''

Speaking on the APC senators’ decision not to join their PDP counterparts’ call to impeach Buhari, he said the 9th assembly is a creation of the president, and will always carry out the dictates of the presidential villa.

“It is expected they will speak like that, because both chambers of the national assembly, the leadership of the national assembly is a creation of the villa, as we speak now, national assembly is a department of the villa,” he said.

“It is evident in the national assembly decision not to impeach Buhari, despite the array of insecurity, and gross display of incompetence by this government.”

Abaribe should be in prison for not producing Kanu – Deputy Speaker

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Idris Wase (APC, Plateau) has said that the Minority Leader of the Senate, Enyinnaya Abaribe (PDP, Abia) should be in prison for failing to produce leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu who he stood as a surety for in court.

Wase said this while responding to a Point of Order raised by Sada Soli (APC, Katsina) during plenary on Thursday May 6.

He backed his claim with the imprisonment of Senator Ali Ndume (APC, Borno) by Justice Okon Abang for failing to produce Abdulrasheed Maina, former head of the defunct Pension Reformed Task Team (PRTT) whom he had stood for as surety.

The Deputy Speaker said;

Quote: “Ordinarily, for failing to produce Kanu Nnamdi, he (Sen Abaribe) should be in prison, just like Ndume was taken to prison.

“I see somebody as Abaribe, who is the leader in the senate, championing that. Yes, there are many flaws. He bailed Kanu Nnamdi and during the ENDSARS, we knew what happened. Kanu then was the one who was asking for the head of Tinubu, destroy this, destroy that in the nation. But we have allowed him. He knew what happened to Ndume.

“Ndume for bailing Maina was taken to prison for not producing him, but we allowed this man to go as opposition person. And that is why they could send everything back to the person. I am a presiding officer, I wish to be neutral as much as possible."

The Plateau-born Senator also accused House Minority Leader, Ndidi Elumelu of misrespresenting what happened at the executive session of the lower chamber of the national assembly.

He said;

Quote:“Mr Speaker, it was a confidential matter. You know the meaning of executive session. He couldn’t have gone there to report that one. Mr Speaker, I want to say that there is a kind of false platform that I am seeing because after that meeting sir, PDP caucus of both chambers went and had another discussion, a kind of build-up on the security situation. And I think Mr Speaker, we need to be serious.

“I think there is a need for us, as a system, to change our tactics. It is not about opposition. If you are going to do opposition, do opposition that is right, give factual views and also be part of the solution to problems.”

Uzoma Abonta (PDP, Abia) however countered Wase's claim by stating that Nnamdi Kanu jumped bail after the military invaded his home. He also pointed out that the matter was already in court and making such a demand will amount to interfering in a judicial decision.

Abonta said;

Quote:“The last contact the man in question had was with the military. The Senator who bailed the man was going to court regularly. The senator did not default. He was called to show cause and he showed cause successfully. Why is it a point of reference in the parliament?”

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 23-year-old suspected drug trafficker, Okoguale Douglas, who excreted 59 wraps of heroin weighing 781.2 grams at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

A statement released by Femi Babafemi, spokesperson of the agency stated that Douglas, who hails from Uromi in Esan North-East Local Government area of Edo state, was arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, during an outward clearance of Ethiopian airline flight number 910 at the boarding gate of the airport enroute Abuja-Addis Ababa- Milan (Italy) after being scanned, which proved positive for ingestion.

Babafemi said upon interrogation, the suspect claimed he has been residing in Italy since 2011 after entering the country via Libya with one of his uncles.

Quote:''He said he works as a restaurant attendant in Italy where he earns 900 Euro per month and also works as a painter on his free days and gets about 400 Euro upon completion of any work. He also confessed he was promised 2000 Euro if he successfully delivers the drug to Milan, Italy.

He said he came to Nigeria on April 4, 2021 for the burial of his late father in Esan, Edo state and after spending so much during the burial, he ran out of money, a situation that made him to ask for financial support from one of his Nigerian friends resident in Italy.

He further claimed that his friend then told him he would send him money on the ground that he will collect a consignment for him from one other friend of his in Nigeria. To facilitate that, he promised to send him a number to call.

He said contrary to the initial arrangement, he claimed he was called by a man on Thursday April 29, 2021 and asked him to come down to Abuja where he was picked by two other unknown men from Utako area and lodged in a hotel which he claimed he doesnt know the address.

The suspect also claimed that the two men brought the wrapped drug to him in a hotel on Friday night after which he swallowed the 59 pellets early on Saturday May 1st, 2021 and was promised 2000 Euro on successful delivery to Milan, Italy.'' Babafemi said

Commander, NAIA Command of the Agency, Kabir Sani Tsakuwa said efforts are still ongoing to unravel other suspects connected to the crime.

Chairman/Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Brig. General Mohamed Buba Marwa commended the officers and officers of the airport command for their resilience and charged them as well as their counterparts across the country to remain vigilant especially with the coming holidays to ensure that no single gramme of illicit drug is smuggled in or out of Nigeria. He assured them he will continue to make their welfare a priority.

This is so inhuman"  Crime Check TV Ghana wrote on Facebook

Catholic church leadership wanted to shut down my ministry for one month - Mbaka

Spiritual director of Adoration Ministry Enugu, Nigeria (AMEN), Fr. Ejike Mbaka has alleged that the leadership of the Catholic diocese in Enugu state wanted to close his ministry for one month.

Mbaka made the claim shortly after resurfacing after initially being declared missing.

According to the cleric, the church leadership, led by Bishop Calistus Onaga summoned him over his recent comments concerning Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and his connection to the presidency.

Mbaka said the church leadership told him he would remain indoors for a period of one month to enable him pray and meditate over his activities.  He further claimed that even though he refused to the demand, he was released because of the protest over his whereabout.

He said;

Quote:“How can they believe what others say, and they will not believe what the priest is saying? The emphasis is ‘please, let me go to celebrate the mass’, but they said ‘no’. If a priest will request to celebrate mass and they say ‘no’, that means something is wrong.

"Allow me to and celebrate mass for my people just for today, I won’t even tell them that I am being punished, they said, No. I will just tell my members that I’m going for 30 days prayer, that after 30 days, we will come back and everybody will obey, they said, No.

“I also begged them to appoint another priest to come and celebrate mass for you today, they also said No.

“They didn’t treat me in a pastoral way. I was asking ‘am I being punished for what’?

“They said it was a meeting, but even before I reached the Bishop’s house, conclusion has already been made. What happened to me was like the day I was shot on the road.

“Unfortunately for them, even before the meeting, a woman was already going around bragging that the Bishop will call me for a meeting, and that I was going to leave my house here for 30 days, and that after the 30 days, I would be sent to Rome, and Adoration ministry will be closed.

"In a time and cases like this, don’t give me a punishment that will cause troubles for us because I’m not alone.”

Girl in 6th grade opens fires on classmates at Idaho middle school injuring 3

A female middle school student opened fire on classmates at an Idaho middle school on Thursday, injuring a custodian and two other students before being disarmed by a teacher and taken into custody.

The shooting happened at Rigby Middle School in Jefferson County just after 9 a.m on May 6th.
The student, a sixth-grader, pulled the gun out of a backpack before she opened fire, authorities said.

"During the shooting, a teacher disarmed the student and detained her until law enforcement took her into custody," Jefferson County Sheriff Steve Anderson said during a news conference. "She did take the handgun from the student."
"She fired multiple rounds inside of the school and out," Anderson said at a news conference. "We don't have a lot of details of why. That is being investigated."

Her name and exact age weren't immediately released.

Two students and an adult who were shot were rushed to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, said Dr. Michael Lemon, the trauma director for the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
The adult was shot once and was released from a hospital. One student was hit once and may require surgery in the future. The other student was shot twice, Lemon said

Students were sent home with their parents immediately after the shootings and classes will be canceled on Friday, Jefferson School District Superintendent Chad Martin said.

"This is the worst nightmare any school district could ever face," said Martin. "We prepare for it and we're never truly ready for it."

The suspect is from the nearby city of Idaho Falls, Anderson said. He didn't release her name.

"Me and my classmate were just in class with our teacher — we were doing work — and then all of a sudden, here was a loud noise and then there were two more loud noises. Then there was screaming," 12-year-old Yandel Rodriguez said. "Our teacher went to check it out, and he found blood."

Yandel's mom, Adela Rodriguez, said they were OK but "still a little shaky" from the shooting as they left the campus.

"Today we had the worst nightmare a school district could encounter," Jefferson School District Superintendent Chad Martin said.

"I am praying for the lives and safety of those involved in today's tragic events," Governor of Idaho, Brad Little said in a statement. "Thank you to our law enforcement agencies and school leaders for their efforts in responding to the incident."

Bandits kill journalist, abduct many travellers in Katsina

Armed bandits have killed a journalist, Ibrahim Hamisu Dankabo, during a kidnap operation in Jibia Local Government of Katsina State.

It was gathered that the armed bandits also abducted many travellers in the area

A community leader in the area, Gide Suleiman, told PREMIUM TIMES that Mr Dankabo, a cameraman attached to the Information Unit of Jibia Local Government, was shot dead on Monday, May 3, in Kukar-Babangida area of Jibia when he responded to a distress call from a female neighbour during a kidnap incident.

The kidnappers later went away with the woman who is the mother of a traditional title holder in Niger Republic, the source added.

Meanwhile, other residents said the attackers also abducted many travellers on the Katsina-Jibia road, most of whom are residents of Magamar Jibia.

"We are living in constant fear of attack and abduction and we cannot ply some major roads. The security agents have advised residents to stop using the Gurbi road from Zurmi in Zamfara to Jibia in Katsina because kidnappers operate with impunity on the high," a resident lamented.

“The security agents are on ground but the bandits operate at will without hindrance. The security agents seldom respond to distress calls. And one of two of their armoured vehicles in Jibia town has been grounded for at least two months now.

I had every right to join End SARS protests – DJ Cuppy tells UK show, Presenting

By CM

Prominent disc jockey and entertainer, DJ Cuppy, has addressed the negativity that tailed her activism during the anti-police brutality End SARS protests that rocked the nation last year's October.

DJ Cuppy aired her opinion in an interview with UK-based show, Presenting, which was published on Thursday.

In the interview, she also recounts her experience of racism in the United Kingdom and touches on the influence of Fela on her music.

Speaking on her role during End SARS, the 28-year-old turntablist said, "I have a responsibility as a Nigerian to do what I can to raise awareness, and also do what I can to make sure that people know what is going on."

DJ Cuppy said that she's been accused of not grasping the reality which birthed the End SARS movement due to her privilege. She, however, denounced the claim, asserting that it's a reality which "affects everybody."

"A lot of people have spoken to me about it, and they have actually accused me of not understanding it because of my influence and my positioning. I've never been stopped by SARS before but my team has, my friends have, and it’s really important that people understand that just because I haven’t had it happen directly to me, doesn’t mean that I can’t understand. So for me, I think it’s a problem that affects everybody."

DJ Cuppy was one of many public figures who'd lent support to the End SARS protest last October. On October 18, wearing a disguise of a hoodie, a baseball cap, and sun shades, the disc jockey made an unobserved appearance at the Lekki Toll Gate, which was the hub of the Lagos protests.

However, she would first register her support for the protests in a tweet published on October 9: "Going against the advice of those around me, but it doesn’t feel right. Silence can say so much. My fellow Nigerians, forgive me for taking so long to comment...

"I would [be] lying if I said I’m DIRECTLY affected by SARS but a lot of my Cupcakes are and that’s enough for me to care. I stand behind the movement to #EndPoliceBrutality AND #EndSARS."

Although praised by many at the time for her support, she'd equally received lots of flak from social media users who believed she was too privileged and unable to truly empathise with the End SARS campaign.

In the interview with Presenting, Cuppy also spoke about her experiences of racial prejudice since moving to the UK at age 13.

"For me, it was very difficult because growing up in Nigeria, I didn’t really experience racism," she said. "My teachers were black, the doctors were black, lawyers were black. So, moving to the UK, and especially moving to the US, is really where I started to notice the disparity and where I really started to experience racism."

“The minute I moved here, from thirteen in boarding school, I always realised. It was pointed out that I looked different, I sounded different, my background was different, my culture was different. And no amount of money, no amount of positioning can ever change that."

She added that in spite of what many think, she still has to "kick down doors" in the entertainment industry.

In the rest of the interview, DJ Cuppy mused on Fela's influence on her musical sensibility, hailed Burna Boy as a "phenomenal artist", and revealed that she is close to and working on a project with the latter's sister, Nissi.

The newly published interview was originally recorded last November, some days after the viral End SARS protests.

"My first and only heartbreak was at 18, Now I Break The Hearts These Days" - DJ Cuppy also shared her heartbreak experience at 100 Level at the University.

Three suspected bandits, including a woman, were killed by angry youths after a failed attack on a Fulani community in Goronyo local government area of Sokoto state.

It was gathered that the armed bandits stormed Ruga, a Fulani community on the outskirts of Goronyo, around midnight on Wednesday, May 5, to rustle cattle but faced stiff resistance from the nomads who also arrested three of the attackers.

An eyewitness, who spoke to Daily Trust said the irate youths also torched the office of the vigilante group where the suspected bandits were temporarily kept.

"The people there are well prepared. Bullets don’t penetrate them. They foiled the attack, arrested three of the bandits and handed them over to vigilantes in the morning,” the witness said.

"When the news about the arrest reached our youths, they mobilized and stormed the vigilante office in Goronyo town where the bandits were temporarily kept. The youth were irked by the unremorseful utterances of the female bandit who was bragging that, she had been arrested and released and she knew she would be free again

"This was what triggered their action, they overpowered the vigilantes and set the office on fire. One of the suspects died inside the office while the female and the other suspect tried to escape through the window but were caught, killed and their corpses burnt to ashes,”

The chairman of the local government council, Abdulwahab Yahya, who confirmed the incident, said security operatives were currently patrolling the town to maintain law and order.

According to him, bandits have been rustling animals in the area despite the presence of 60 mobile policemen.

"Even two days ago, several cows were rustled near the divisional police headquarters which is adjacent to the Governor’s lodge that is accommodating the mobile policemen around 7pm. So the people are tired of these incessant attacks. They think we are not doing enough to end it and decided to be taking law into their hand which is very wrong,” he said

Spokesman of the Sokoto Police Command, ASP Sanusi Abubakar also confirmed the attack but said he is yet to get full details of the incident.

ISIS and Al-Qaeda planning to penetrate Southern Nigeria, US warns

The United States has warned that Al-Qaeda and ISIS are planning to penetrate Southern Nigeria.

The US also said Al-Qaeda has started penetrating the north-western part of Nigeria.

In a media briefing seen by TheCable, Dagvin Anderson, Commander of the US special operations command, Africa, said Al-Qaeda is also expanding to other parts of West Africa.

Anderson said the US will continue to partner with Nigeria in sharing intelligence.

"We have engaged with Nigeria and continue to engage with them in intel sharing and in understanding what these violent extremists are doing," he said.

"And that has been absolutely critical to their engagements up in the Borno state and into an emerging area of northwest Nigeria that we’re seeing al-Qaeda starting to make some inroads in.

"So, this intelligence sharing is absolutely vital and we stay fully engaged with the government of Nigeria to provide them with an understanding of what these terrorists are doing, what Boko Haram is doing, what ISIS-West Africa is doing, and how ISIS and al-Qaeda are looking to expand further south into the littoral areas."

Anderson added that for international efforts to yield desired results in the fight against terrorism in Nigeria, the government must take the lead.

"When it comes to Nigeria in general, Nigeria, obviously, is a critical nation to West Africa. It is a critical nation and we realise that Nigeria is a lynchpin," he said.

El-Rufai: We Were Ready To Lose Students In Planned Bandits’ Bombardment
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-07-2021, 07:55 AM - No Replies

Quote:Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on Thursday said when 29 students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, Kaduna State, were abducted, the plan was to attack and kill the bandits even if it meant some students would die in the process.

El-Rufai added that Kaduna is currently at war and such would only be considered as collateral damage, a price he would be willing to pay instead of paying ransom.

The governor, however, said before this could be done, the bandits hurriedly changed location which led to the students spending over a month in captivity.

The governor said this on Thursday during a webinar organised by the Africa Leadership Group.

The event which was tagged: ‘Developing a Viable Nation 2’ was hosted by Pastor of Trinity House Church, Ituah Ighodalo.

Responding to a question on his refusal to negotiate with bandits, the governor said, “Two days after the abduction of the Afaka young people, I was assured by the air force and the army that they knew where the kidnappers were with the students and they had encircled (them).

“We were going to attack them. We would lose a few students but we would kill all the bandits and we would recover some of the students. That was our plan. That was the plan of the air force and the army… But they slipped through the cordon of the army. That is why they were not attacked.

“We know it is risky, we know in the process we may lose some of the abductees but it is a price we have to pay. This is war, there will always be collateral damage in war and we will rather do that than pay money because paying money has not solved the problem anywhere in the world.”

El-Rufai admitted that he had “lost weight” over the insecurity in Kaduna State which was giving him sleepless nights.

The governor, however, claimed that insecurity in Kaduna was not as bad as Niger, Katsina and Zamfara but the media only focused attention on his state because it fitted into their narrative of ethnic clashes.

El-Rufai said in Katsina and Niger states, entire villages were sacked by bandits but nothing of such happened in Kaduna.

On why he asked former President Goodluck Jonathan to negotiate with Boko Haram to rescue Chibok girls, the governor stated that he only gave that advice because that was the first time such abduction would take place.

He said Boko Haram is driven by an ideology and not by money in the case of today’s bandits.

The governor also spoke about his expectations for Nigeria in 2023.

El-Rufai said it was his wish that the next President of Nigeria would not be more than 65 years.

The governor said political leadership is mentally and physically draining and a younger person would handle the stress better than an older person.

El-Rufai also said the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), hardly achieved much because he is a nice guy that doesn’t like to sack.

He said he believed in sacking incompetent hands and that was why he achieved more.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES,

FRIDAY 7TH MAY 2021.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome

TOPIC: CLEANSED FROM ALL UNRIGHTEOUSNESS

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin(1 John 1:7).

Thank God for Jesus! The Bible says in Him we have our riddance (redemption) through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins (Colossians 1:14). This is so powerful! Because of Jesus, all your sins are remitted (completely removed)—past, present and future.

No wonder we’re called His justified ones. We’re not “ordinary sinners saved by grace.” You’re not a “wretch”; like they sing, “Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a ‘wretch’ like me….” Even the sinner isn’t a wretch. Jesus didn’t die for a wretch. You’re somebody special.

Your value is the blood of the Son of God. That blood, the Bible says, cleanses you from all sins—all unrighteousness. Notice the present progressive tense, “cleanses,” which means it happens as often as you require it.

We live in an unclean world, with so much unrighteousness around us. Sometimes these impurities rub off on us. But thanks be unto God! The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses you from ALL unrighteousness; it’s automatic. Hallelujah! That’s what we read in our opening verse.

It didn’t say you’ll be cleansed after you pray for the forgiveness of your sins, neither did it say, “the blood is going to cleanse you from sin”; no! It’s not futuristic; it’s a continuous automatic process: His blood CLEANSES you each time the need arises! This is perfectly legal before God.

No wonder He calls us holy, unblameable and unreproveable in His sight (Colossians 1:22). Then, in 1 Corinthians 6:11, He says you’re washed, sanctified, and justified, in the Name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. Blessed be God!

Get to know, understand, and consciously walk in the light of God’s Word, in the light of your righteousness, and you’ll not have to worry about sin, because your nature in Christ isn’t subject to sin.

CONFESSION

Blessed be the Lord, who according to His mercy, saved me and has justified me by His grace to be an heir of eternal life. I enjoy my blessed life in Christ, walking in righteousness, justified from all things from which I couldn’t be justified by the Law of Moses. My life is for the glory of God. Hallelujah!

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
Romans 4:6-8

Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, 7 [Saying], Blessed [are] they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. 8 Blessed [is] the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

Micah 7:18-19 AMPC
Who is a God like You, Who forgives iniquity and passes over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He retains not His anger forever, because He delights in mercy and loving-kindness. 19 He will again have compassion on us; He will subdue and tread underfoot our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.

1,000 Gunmen Attack Shadadi, Niger State, Kidnap Scores Of People
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-06-2021, 07:51 PM - No Replies

The attack comes just days after Niger State Governor, Abubakar Bello confirmed the activity of Boko Haram militants in the state.

Quote:Unknown gunmen have kidnapped over 100 people in Shadadi town in Niger state, killing 8 and leaving 4 injured.

A source who spoke with BBC Hausa said more than 1, 000 gunmen attacked the town on Wednesday and perpetrated the act.

The attack comes just days after Niger State Governor, Abubakar Bello confirmed the activity of Boko Haram militants in the state.

The worst place affected by the latest attack is Shadadi town under Mariga Local Government Area where eyewitnesses said thousands of residents have fled the town after the incident.

According to some residents, people who were killed and kidnapped from Wednesday's attack are up to 100 but the state government said those who were kidnapped are lesser than that.

An eyewitness from another town said the gunmen had arrived in large numbers and started shooting sporadically at the people, killing 8 people instantly while 4 persons sustained injuries.

The resident stated that most of the people in the town have now relocated to neighbouring towns including Kontagora.

The Niger State Commissioner For information, Sani Idris, who confirmed the incident to the BBC, said the number of those killed and kidnapped is not up to 100 as eyewitnesses claimed.

He further stated that the government is still compiling the figures and that the state government is seeking the federal government's assistance regarding the insecurity disturbing the state.

As of the time of filing this report, it is not clear if the attack was carried out by bandits or Boko Haram militants but both parties have yet to take responsibility for the attack.

The Niger State Governor recently said Boko Haram terrorists hoisted their flag in a part of the state.

The governor said the insurgents also forcibly took the wives of some of the villagers for themselves.

“I am confirming that there are Boko Haram elements here in Niger state, here in Kaure, I am confirming that they have hoisted their flags here.

“Their wives have been seized from them and forcefully attached to Boko Haram members. I just heard that they have placed their flags at Kaure, meaning they have taken over the territory.

“This is what I have been engaging the federal government on, unfortunately, it has now got to this level. If care is not taken, even Abuja is not safe.

“We have been saying this for too long. All our efforts have been in vain,” the governor said.

Bello said the terrorists were trying to turn Niger into another Borno State, which has been their base for some time.

“Sambisa is several kilometres from Abuja but Kaure is just 2 kilometres from Abuja. So, nobody is safe anymore, not even those in Abuja.

"This is the time to act. All hands must be on deck, it is not a fight for Niger state alone,” he said.

The governor however vowed to “take action”, saying he would no longer wait for anybody.

Man convicted of murdering and eating his mother after cutting her up into 1,000 pieces

A Spanish man has been convicted of murdering and eating his mother after cutting her up into tiny pieces.

Alberto Sanchez Gomez, 28, was branded the cannibal killer of Ventas, the area of Madrid where he lived with his mother Maria Soledad Gomez after his arrest.

On Wednesday, May 5, a jury found him guilty of strangling the 68-year-old after a row. He dismembered her body before eating part of her remains over the next fortnight, Mail Online reported.

The jurors, six women, and three men, also dismissed Sanchez Gomez's claims he was experiencing a 'psychotic episode' when he murdered and dismembered his mother.

State prosecutors demanded a 15 year and five-month prison sentence for Mr. Alberto if convicted of homicide and desecration of a human corpse when his two-week murder trial started on April 19 at Madrid's Audiencia Provincial court.

The judge will now decide how long he should be jailed for in the next few days.

Sanchez Gomez told police who arrested him at their flat in Madrid on February 21, 2019, that he had been eating his mum 'bit by bit' with his pet dog.

Detectives found parts of tragic Soledad's remains in Tupperware containers in their fridge and bones in drawers around the family home, an apartment near the Spanish capital's famous Las Ventas bullring.

Her head, hands, and heart were found on her bed with local reports disclosing at the time that her body had been cut up into more than 1,000 tiny pieces.

Officers who got him to open the door of the apartment they shared are said to have received the response: 'Yes, my mother is in here, dead.'

The alarm was raised by a worried friend of Soledad's who told the authorities she hadn't seen her for a month.

A prosecution indictment submitted to the court ahead of the trial revealed that the cannibal killer used a carpenter's saw and two kitchen knives to cut up his mum's body.

Sanchez, whose dad died when he was 15, claimed in court at the start of his murder trial he had heard 'hidden messages' when he watched TV and voices telling him: 'Kill your mum.'

He reportedly told Madrid's Audiencia Provincial court that the voices were those of neighbours, acquaintances, and celebrities. But he insisted he didn't remember cutting up his mum or eating her remains as he told police when they went to the murder scene.

During a final address to the court last Friday he insisted: 'I'm very repentant. I suffer anxiety from the moment I wake up.

'I think of my mum and I'm absolutely heartbroken.'

Jurors heard the convicted killer, who regularly consumed drugs and alcohol, had been arrested 12 times for mistreating his mum before killing her.

A police officer who gave evidence during the trial said: 'He began to tell us as he was being transferred to a police station that the he had strangled her from behind.

'He also said he had eaten parts of her body, some cooked and some raw, and had given some pieces to the dog.'

No adequate satellite to monitor bandits- National Space Agency DG, Halilu Shaba, says

The National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) has said that inadequate satellite and other facilities inhibit the agency's efforts to monitor the activities of bandits and other criminal elements operating in the country.

The newly appointed Director-General of the Agency, Halilu Shaba, disclosed this to newsmen at a media parley in Abuja today May 6.

According to Shaba, the bandits have become sophisticated in their operations and waves received by the agency from remote areas shows the bandits no longer use Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) phones, but walkie-talkie.

Quote:“The Satellite is not static where the insurgency is taking place. That is why one satellite is not adequate. What Nigeria has tthere are some two satellites doing two different things.
We have a High-Resolution imaging satellite and Medium Resolution imaging satellite. The activities of the bandits could be when the satellite was away from Nigerian borders, so that is why we are advocating for more satellites for Nigeria,” he said.

The NASRDA boss called for more collaborative efforts between the agency and security agencies with regards to nformation sharing, especially when planning to launch attacks on the criminal elements.

Confirming the incident, the Abia state Commissioner of Information, John Okiyi Kalu, says a preliminary investigation shows that the armed men marched the students into the forest with other abducted travelers. He said two of the abducted students managed to escape while others are still in captivity.

Read the statement below

Quote:''Abia State Government is currently monitoring an incident that happened in Okigwe, Imo State, yesterday which led to the suspected abduction of yet to be determined number of students of the Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU), who apparently ran into a yet to be identified gang of hoodlums operating along the Okigwe-Uturu Road.

Preliminary information available to us indicates that the students were moving in a mini van from Okigwe to Uturu between 7pm - 8pm when they ran into the armed gang who marched them into the nearby forest along with other yet to be identified travelers.

Two of the students managed to escape from the hoodlums while others are still being held at a yet to be identified location.
We are working with the government of Imo State and relevant security agencies in both states to ensure the rescue of the abducted students and others.

Members of the public and ABSU community are advised to remain calm as we will spare no resource in ensuring the safety of the victims.

No criminal operating within our environment will be allowed to escape justice as we take the job of protecting lives and property of Abians and visitors to the State very seriously''
