8 Secrets Your Vaginal Discharge Is Trying to Tell You
[Image: vagina.jpg]
All that moisture is normal, but sometimes changes in odor, color, and consistency can be a sign that something else is going on in your body. Here's how to use its clues to work for you.

You're healthy
Your vagina tries to tell you a lot of things. And types of vaginal discharge naturally change throughout your cycle.

It can be sticky, watery, or not really there. That fluctuation during the month is completely normal and dependent on your hormones at the time.

"The vagina naturally cleans itself. Discharge is basically cells from the vagina and water," says Kecia Gaither, MD, a double-board certified physician in ob/gyn and maternal fetal medicine. You've heard the phrase "the vagina is a self-cleaning oven"? That's exactly right, she says. Healthy discharge is generally clear or milky in color.

You're fertile
Right around the time of ovulation, you may notice that your discharge turns to more of an egg white consistency. "If you have a bit in between your fingers, you will be able to stretch the discharge when you move your fingers apart," explains Dr. Gaither.

This type of discharge is supremely sperm-friendly, allowing the swimmers the most hospitable environment to survive. "This is when your body is letting you know it's a good time for fertilization," she says.

Also pay attention to the way it looks after ovulation. Brown vaginal discharge can be a sign of the implantation bleeding that happens when you're pregnant.

You're stressed
Stress can throw your body for a loop in some surprising ways make sure you know the silent signs that stress is making you sick.

"Stress can change the amount of mucous produced in your glands," says Charles Ascher-Walsh, MD, director of gynecology and urogynecology at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Stress may bring about these changes because it can alter your hormones and throw off your cycle. Travel, a new diet, or even dehydration may cause you to produce less discharge as well.

You have a thyroid issue
Take this one with caution, because a lack of discharge alone isn't a reliable indicator that you have a thyroid problem, notes Dr. Ascher-Walsh. But having an under-active thyroid (hypothyroidism), can make lubrication sparse—and sex can hurt.

(You may find your sex drive is lower as well.) If you notice dryness in combination with other symptoms of hypothyroidism, like feeling colder than normal, constipation, hair loss, and low mood, tell your doctor who may want to run a simple blood test to check your thyroid. Check out these silent signs of thyroid troubl

You're going through menopause
"Vaginal dryness is one of the signs associated with the onset of menopause," says Dr. Gaither. This happens when the lining of your vagina begins to thin, leading to a reduction in mucous production, and that can also make sex uncomfortable. And while the average age of menopause is 51, it can start to happen anywhere from ages 40 to 60, says Dr. Ascher-Walsh.

If you're nearing that age, make sure you're up on the symptoms of perimenopause. "You shouldn't panic if you're 42 and you start to get vaginal dryness and hot flashes. It may be on the early side, but it wouldn't be considered abnormal," he says.

You have bacterial vaginosis
When it comes to type of vaginal discharge, this one isn't pretty. A BV infection happens when there's an imbalance of bacteria in your vagina, and can occur after sex.

You may notice a thick consistency and a fishy odor. "You'll know something is off," says Dr. Gaither. After an exam with your doctor, BV is treated with antibiotics.

You have a yeast infection
Considering up to 75 percent of women will have a yeast infection in her lifetime, this is incredibly common. You'll notice that your vaginal discharge has a thick, white, cottage cheese appearance, along with itching, says Dr. Gaither.

If it's your first yeast infection, you may want to check with your doctor to make sure that's what it is (and not another type of infection). If you know you have a yeast infection, Dr. Gaither suggests picking up an OTC anti-yeast cream. If that doesn't do the trick, see your doctor.

"Some strains of yeast may be a little resistant to over-the-counter medications and might require something stronger," she says. In the future, take steps to prevent them.

You have trichomoniasis
This STD often makes itself known, says Dr. Gaither. "Your discharge will be green," she says. And—gross out alert—she goes on to say that if you look at a smear of infected discharge under a microscope, you would notice little parasitic organisms swimming and moving around.

That said, the CDC notes that only 30 percent of people experience symptoms—for most, it totally goes unnoticed. Also pay attention to itching, burning, redness, or pain while you pee. Oral medication can clear it up.

Morning Devotional For Saturday 10th March

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL (FREE MARCH PDF => http://bit.ly/2iK6qRp)*

*MAKE HIM YOUR FOCUS .*

Saturday, March 10th .
Pastor Chris

_*If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth (Colossians 3:1-2).*_

Christian perfection isn’t in the perfection of our works, but on the vision of Christ; you have to look at Him. 2 Corinthians 3:18 says, _*“But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”*_

The Word of God is the mirror of God, and Jesus is the Word made flesh. As you behold Him in the Word, you’re changed from glory to glory. For example, Colossians 3:9-10 says, _*“Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him.”*_ Notice that the reason you‘re not supposed to lie isn’t because of the command, “Thou shall not lie,” but because you’ve put on the new man which is renewed in knowledge after the image of Christ: that’s what you set your gaze on.

The way to set your gaze on Him isn’t as you would a picture on the wall, but through His Word in your heart, keeping your focus on the image and vision of who you are in Him and what He’s made you; that’s meditation. As you behold or contemplate the glory of God, you’re metamorphosed; you understand what it means to be in Him, and He in you.

When you recognize yourself in Him and He in you, all the struggles for perfection will be over, for in Him you’re complete; perfected! Glory to God!

*PRAYER*

*Blessed Father, I thank you for your Word, which I receive into my heart with meekness and faith. As I meditate on it, I increase in grace, knowledge, and wisdom, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *Hebrews 12:2* Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of [our] faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. *||*

*||* *Romans 12:2* And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. *||*

*||* *Colossians 2:9-10* For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: *||*

The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare 11, summoned all Benin chiefs and native doctors in the kingdom for an emergency meeting with a view to tackling human trafficking, kidnapping and other security challenges in the state. This came as Edo State House of Assembly, yesterday, began consideration of a bill for a law to prohibit human trafficking and establish Edo State task force against trafficking in persons.

The revered monarch, had penultimate week expressed concerns over the activities of human traffickers in the state and called for concerted effort to fight the scourge.

The meeting was held today Friday, March 9, 2018. Officials of National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, were also invited.

The monarch said NAPTIP has informed the Palace of how the victims of human traffickers are subjected to oath taking, which makes it difficult for them to provide useful information to NAPTIP that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators of human trafficking in the society.

The Oba of Benin noted that many of those trafficked never get to their destinations as they are subjected to slavery in Libya, while others died in the Mediterranean Sea, pointing out that many families have been grieving over the loss of their loved ones.

According to reports, the Oba of Benin, revoked all curses placed on trafficked persons by Native doctors in Benin kingdom. He reportedly advised victims to reveal who trafficked them abroad to relevant authorities....

His Royal Majesty said the meeting was convened to warn those behind this illegal acts of human trafficking to desist or face the wrath of the law and the ancestors of the land.

2019: Sule Lamido Gives Reasons Nigerians Must Sack Buhari, APC
User Avatar Forum: Politics

A former governor of Jigawa State, and a presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has warned Nigerians against repeating the mistake of voting the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and President Muhammadu Buhari, come 2019.

He called on Nigerians to vote out APC government in 2019, lamenting that Nigeria has deteriorated under the party.

The former Governor said this yesterday, in Calabar, Cross River State, when he paid a courtesy call on Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State in his office during a consultation tour of the state.

According to him, “Today, Nigerians are not only suffering under the yoke of Boko Haram, but also under ‘Hunger Haram’ and APC people do not seem to have a solution to any of the problems, therefore they should be sent away in 2019.”

He further accused the APC government of inviting foreigners in the name of herdsmen to invade the country and cause havoc in all parts of the country, saying, “we have never gone through this kind of harrowing experience as a country.”

Governor Ayade of Cross River said, “The people of Cross River State have been treated unfairly by the Federal Government. Our land has been ceded to other countries; they have collected our oil wells and our revenue is the least in the federation today.

”They’ve failed Nigerians’ On the call for the President to resign, Chief Anirahi insisted that President Buhari has failed on all fronts, saying “the Buhari and APC-led government have failed woefully on three promises— anti-corruption, security and social welfare— for which they were elected.”

  Neymar Wants Barcelona Return
User Avatar Forum: Sports World
Posted by: Edoman - 03-09-2018, 08:48 PM - No Replies

Neymar already regrets moving to Paris Saint-Germain and is seeking a shock return to Barcelona, according to reports in the Spanish media on Friday.
In the same week that PSG crashed out of the Champions League, and only seven months after he joined the club for a world record 222million euros ($264 million, Neymar´s future has become uncertain.

Spanish sports newspaper Mundo Deportivo claims the Brazilian, recovering from surgery on a broken foot in Brazil, has made contact with Barca to ask how he can engineer a return.

The article adds Neymar has explained he made a mistake in leaving the club, was wrong to want independence from Lionel Messi and has been disappointed by the standard of opposition in Ligue 1.

Barca, however, is not the only club Neymar is reportedly targeting as a potential way out of PSG.

Madrid-based newspaper AS reports Neymar´s father has met with Real Madrid, who are ready to pay 400million euros to sign the striker.

Asked about the speculation on Friday, Real coach Zinedine Zidane said: “Neymar could play in all the clubs because he is very good, like many players.

“I´m not going to talk about a player that is not mine. On the 400 million, they paid 220 million and when they bought me they paid 72.

“It seemed crazy to me and 10 years later they are paying 220 million. It can be that in the next 10 years someone will pay 400m, or sooner, I do not know.”

Mundo Deportivo concedes Neymar´s courting of Barcelona may even be a tactic to justify a move to Real, given the Catalan club are likely to reject any chance to re-sign the 26-year-old.

Barcelona are still embroiled in a financial dispute over a bonus due to Neymar last summer, which the club cancelled when they believe it became clear he was moving to PSG.

Neymar missed PSG’s last 16 loss to Real on Tuesday after undergoing surgery on a broken foot in Brazil last week.

User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 03-09-2018, 08:37 PM - No Replies

Quote:The Senate on Thursday expanded the terms of reference given to its ad hoc committee investigating the interception of arms and ammunitions to probe alleged importation of military gears and ammunition by Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State.

Dino Melaye, Senator representing Kogi Central, on Thursday raised the alarm wherein he named an aide to Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, and the state government of being behind military apparels illegally imported into the country.

Sen. Melaye, while raising a Point of Order on Thursday also disclosed that the said items have been impounded by the Nigerian Customs Service at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

According to the Senator who has been at daggers-drawn with the Governor, the items include: sewn military camouflages with bola hats, many bullet proof vests, night vision goggles, tactical boots, tactical knapsacks, training canvas, boxing gloves among others.

“Mr President, due to my private investigation, I got a very serious revelation yesterday and I am so happy that a committee constituted by the senate under the leadership of the ranking senator James Manager is in place.

”Mr President, few minutes ago, the Nigerian Customs intercepted sewn military camouflages with bola hats, many bullet proof vests, night vision goggles, tactical boots, tactical knapsacks, training canvas, boxing gloves etc.

“These items were intercepted by the Nigerian customs because they did not come with end user certificates. When you are bringing military equipment into the country they must come with end user certificate – certified by the National Security Adviser (NSA),” he said.

He stated that if this bill is passed, Tyranny and terror will become state policy and the politicians clamouring for the law to be passed should know they will not be in power forever.

He wrote on Facebook;

“Most people in Power are intolerant to criticism and allergic to dissent to be trusted with a capital punishment for Hate speech. The law against Hate speech will be used against free speech.

Many critics and social media enthusiasts will end up in the gallows. Our condemned cells in the prisons will be filled with bloggers, critics and perceived political opponents.

We must fight Hate speech, Hate speech is a real threat to peace, unity and order of a nation but we must protect free speech.

Free speech is the shield of the oppressed. When you have state police and you have capital punishment for Hate speech, you will have tyranny and terror as a state policy.People in power should think twice about what they do with power as someday they will be out of power.

A democratic state must balance its security exigencies with its constitutional obligations and moral duty to uphold the rule of law and respect fundamental rights of its citizens. If you are in public office and you don’t want to be criticized or challenged, please dismount and go back to your family where you can be an imperial emperor.”

Senator Ademola Adeleke's Dancing Habit An Embarrassment To Nigeria"
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Gimbiya - 03-09-2018, 05:14 PM - No Replies

A social political group, Movement for New Nigeria has slammed the Senator representing Osun West Senatorial District, Senator Ademola Adeleke over incessant display of dancing skill wherever he goes.

The group made the assertion in a press statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Sunday Kelani, a copy which was sent to DAILY POST on Friday.

The statement noted that the senator has taken it as a tradition to dance at any event he attends instead of contributing meaningfully to National issues as a lawmaker of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

It chided him for, “taking the dignity of legislature for granted” adding that he is no more a private person, but a public office holder of high echelon in Nigeria.

“The routine dance of the Senator representing Osun West senatorial district is becoming a big embarrassment for people of his constituency and Nigerians as a whole.

“Instead of making appreciable contribution constructively to nation-building, Senator Adekeke is busy dancing across the country rather unabatedly.

“The place of legislature in a democracy is too important and serious for any of its member to resort to a mere entertainer and official dancer.

“This attitude of the lawmaker is highly unbecoming of a man with that political stature, this must stop as a matter of importance and exigency.

“There is a limit to how a politician could go to impress the people outside the specified statutory obligation through performance; the earlier the senator knows that his dancing step is no more catching the fancy of anyone the better for him, ” the statement said.

New Mom Discovered She Was Pregnant 30 Minutes Before Giving Birth
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Gimbiya - 03-09-2018, 04:16 PM - No Replies

An Ohio mother welcomed a healthy baby boy into the world, just 30 minutes after discovering she was pregnant.
I always loved babies and knew I wanted to be a mom one day,” new mom Ally Opfer told InsideEdition.com. Not necessarily right then. The 23-year-old from Cleveland explained she was hospitalized for what doctors believed were kidney stones when an ultrasound revealed she was 38 weeks pregnant, and already in labor.
About  a half-hour later, she gave birth to a healthy baby boy, Oliver.
“I was shocked and didn’t really believe it,” Opfer explained. “I didn’t realize how much I needed him until I had him.”
Opfer explained it has been more than a year since her surprise birth, and it continues to baffle her and her family members.
She said she has always had irregular periods, and when she started missing them months ago, she didn’t notice anything was wrong.
A few pregnancy tests she took early on also came up negative.
“I felt fine, I never started showing, everything was normal,” Opfer recalled about her pregnancy. “It could be because the way I was carrying or the way my son was in my stomach. I’m not really sure why I didn’t show.”
Thankfully, she has never been much of a drinker or smoker, although she did enjoy deli meats and tuna during her pregnancy, which doctors usually advise expectant mothers to avoid.
“I wasn’t eating healthy either,” she joked.
Opfer first had an indication that something was happening in her body when she began experiencing what she believed to be painful menstrual cramps.
It was more than two days later, when she began screaming from pain, that she was taken to the hospital. Doctors then ran several tests before determining she was pregnant.
Because of complications in her pregnancy, she delivered little Oliver by C-section the day before Christmas Eve.
“Even though I didn’t think I wanted a child or needed one yet, once he came, he definitely made me realize how much I needed him,” Opfer said.
A year later, she said her baby boy continues to do well.
“He is my very best friend,” she said. “Our connection is so strong. He is always following me around the house. We are always playing together when I am home.

A Chinese man identified as Mr. Li Chaomin, has been arrested by the Nigerian Customs Service, in connection with pangolin scales with a duty paid value (DPV) of N1.73 billion.
The banned items, which were packed in 329 sacks, were impounded at Opebi, Ikeja in Lagos. However, Chaomin said that he got approval from Chinese government to export the banned goods from Nigeria.
According to him, after several efforts to obtain permission from the Ministry of Environment to export the animal scales failed, he contacted his country. He said he had been trading in Nigeria since 2015 on China candles, power bank and lighters.
He said: “Some business people approached me a few months ago that China market needed pangolin which they used in producing medicines. When I went to China, I found that the Chinese use it to produce medicines to cure various diseases.
I applied for permit in Nigeria but I was not able to get the permit… All the documents are in my email address. I bought the pangolin plates and put them in my warehouse because I thought I was operating with legal documents.’’
According to Chaomin, he usually goes to Cameroon to get the pangolin plates for export. This latest seizure was the second within a month in Lagos. http://www.pressnewsng.com.ng/2018/03/ch...173bn.html

New Parents Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott Get Cozy During a Boat Ride in Miami
[Image: Kylie-Jenner-Travis-Scott-Boat-Miami-March-2018.jpg]
While almost everyone was at the Oscars on Sunday, Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott snuck away for a little R&R in Miami. The couple, who became parents to daughter Stormi last month, were spotted enjoying a boat ride with Kylie's best friend, Jordyn Woods, and a few other friends. Travis and Kylie shared a few laughs as they cozied up to each other, and at one point, the 20-year-old reality TV star was seen with a beer in hand.
Kylie and Travis have been dating since April 2017, and unlike her previous relationship with rapper Tyga, the pair tend to keep their romance fairly private. In fact, Kylie has only posted one Instagram photo with Travis to date, but she did recently post a video of the Ferrari he bought her as a "push present."

Engaged Ohio Teacher Had Sex With 13-Year-Old Female Student From Her School
User Avatar Forum: Crime
Posted by: Gimbiya - 03-09-2018, 03:52 PM - No Replies

An Ohio teacher was sentenced on Wednesday to three years in prison for sexual battery after she pleaded guilty to having sex with a 13-year-old female student.
Brooke Rosendale was a fifth grade intervention specialist and a girls volleyball and basketball coach at Riverdale School in Ohio. According to an arrest report obtained by PEOPLE, Rosendale had sexual contact with the teen in January and February of 2017. The incidents did not happen on school grounds.
According to the arrest report, Rosendale was not the girl’s teacher, but they had met through the school’s extracurricular programs.
Rosendale, 27, was engaged to her long-term boyfriend when the incidents occurred.
In March 2017, the teen’s parents reported the incidents to the school district. After the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office launched a criminal probe, Rosendale resigned from her position. She has also relinquished her teaching certificate.

[url=https://pages.email.people.com/crime?source=in-article][/url][Image: b55c46d3ee52443cc946ba20a42b29b4]
Rosendale was initially charged with three counts of sexual battery, a third-degree felony. Under a plea agreement on January 26, she has been found guilty of one count of sexual battery. The other two counts were dropped.
After her release, Rosendale will register as a Tier 3 sex offender and will no longer be able to work with children. She must also pay $225 in restitution to the family of the student.
In court on Wednesday, Rosendale apologized for her actions. The parents of the student appeared in court, but opted not to make a statement to the court.
I want to apologize to the family,” Rosendale said in court. “I know I hurt them and I apologize.”
Rosendale’s attorney, Peter Halleck, did not immediately return PEOPLE’s call for comment, but he told the court that his client accepted responsibility for what she had done. He said that she was remorseful for her actions.
The presiding judge seemed unmoved by Rosendale’s apology. Hancock County Judge Reginald Routson questioned whether Rosendale fully understood the gravity of her actions. He cited a letter that she had written to the court, which he said indicated that she minimized her responsibility and placed some of the blame on the student.
You stepped across a line, a taboo that cannot be violated,” Routson told Rosendale. “There cannot be any sort of relationships between teachers and students and you betrayed a very important trust.

7 Easy Ways To Stop Snoring
User Avatar Forum: Health Wise
Posted by: Gimbiya - 03-09-2018, 02:36 PM - No Replies

Snoring is noisy breathing during sleep. Snoring is the vibration of respiratory structures and the resulting sound due to obstructed air movement during breathing while sleeping.

In some cases, the sound may be soft, but in most cases, it can be loud and unpleasant. Snoring during sleep may be a sign, or first alarm, of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

Avoid alcohol before going to bed
Avoiding alcohol before going to bed will help you to end snoring. According to doctors and sleep specialists recommend avoiding alcohol for at least a few hours before going to bed, especially if you already suffer from snoring problems.

Poor night's sleep.
This leads to drowsiness during the day and can interfere with your quality of life and increase risk for car accidents.

Lose weight
Fatty tissue and poor muscle tone contribute to snoring. Even if you're not overweight in general, carrying excess weight just around your neck or throat can cause snoring. Exercising and losing weight can sometimes be all it takes to end your snoring.

Change Your Sleep Position.
Lying on your back makes the base of your tongue and soft palate collapse to the back wall of your throat, causing a vibrating sound during sleep. Sleeping on your side may help prevent this.

Get enough sleep
Getting enough sleep helps keep your mind and body healthy. Make sure you get the recommended seven to eight hours of sleep you need each night.

Stop smoking
Smoking is an unhealthy habit that can worsen your snoring. Talk to your doctor about therapies  such as gum or patches that can help you quit.

Practice Good Sleep Hygiene
The secret to get a good night's sleep is maintaining healthy sleep

Nigerian Man Arrested In U.S. For Financial Scam
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 03-09-2018, 02:35 PM - No Replies

Eagle police arrested a 38-year-old Nigerian man, Babajide Ayowole Ogunnubi, on felony racketeering and theft charges for his part in a classified ad scam involving a local newspaper and a Walmart in Beaumont, Texas.

Ogunnubi allegedly convinced Linda Lazard Franks, 56, of Beaumont, to sign for money orders and other financial transactions and then give the money to him.

Franks told Eagle police that Ogunnubi told her that he had lots of friends in the Houston and Beaumont areas who would send money to him.

Eagle police say Ogunnubi stole at least $3,124.56 between Oct. 22 and Nov 28, 2017. He is being held on $100,000 bond.

For her part in all this, Franks faces five felonies. She is accused of stealing more than $28,000 in nine days through 28 fraudulent transactions, some of them from Eagle County victims, Eagle police say.
Franks was arrested Jan. 6 and remains in the Eagle County jail on $30,000 bond.
Below is Police statement on how it all happened:
Late morning Nov. 28, 2017, Eagle Police Officer Bryce Hinton was called to Eagle's Community Bank of Colorado to meet with two women who said they had been scammed.
One of the women said she answered a classified ad in the Vail Daily asking for a part-time personal assistant to do some shopping and other errands. "Send resume to executiveoffice999@gmail.com ," the ad said.
Meanwhile, foreign hackers broke into the Google account of a Chino, California, man, Todd Michael McNitt, and used McNitt's stolen identity to buy the classified ad to run their scams, police said.
Hinton tracked McNitt to Chino Hills, California, where McNitt told them his Google account had been hacked and the hackers got his personal information from his emails.
The real McNitt produced a Google alert that Google sent him when his account was hacked. Hinton said McNitt changed his passwords within 15 minutes of speaking with Google.
The Eagle woman, a local college student, answered the classified ad by email on Oct. 26, 2017. Three days later, she received an email response saying she got the job.
The woman heard from not-McNitt again on Nov. 2, 2017, after she had asked him if the job was a scam. The alleged scammers assured her it was not a scam and produced McNitt's California driver's license and some LinkedIn references.
Four days later, the alleged scammers asked the woman to buy a Target gift card using McNitt's reportedly forged identity and to make sure they could access it.
Four days after that, the woman followed their instructions and opened a checking account in hers and McNitt's name, again giving the scammers access to it.
The alleged scammers told the woman they had transferred $4,500 into her personal account.
Over the next few days, they told the woman to send thousands of dollars from her account to a foster home in Austin, Texas.
Three days later, the woman discovered that her checking account was overdrawn by $3,124.56. She also discovered that the New York bank the scammers said they were using had refused to pay the $4,500.

That's about the time she also received a message from Craigslist saying the email she had answered and the code she used was a scam.
"Any request for it is a scam," the Craigslist message said.
Eagle police asked the Vail Daily for information about the ad. With that information and by working with Walmart Global Investigations, they tracked the transactions to Franks, who was working in Walmart's Beaumont, Texas, "money center."
Between Nov. 20 and 29, when the Eagle County woman was being scammed, Franks had completed 28 transactions for $22,472.50, Walmart investigator Jay Johnston told the Eagle police.
Walmart security video shows Franks signing receipts for money orders and putting the money in her pocket, an Eagle police report said.
Eagle police's Hinton found Franks on Facebook, wearing a Walmart vest and shirt, smiling at the camera with money stacked in the background.

How the tabloids forced Oprah to stop stepping out with Stedman

How the tabloids forced Oprah to stop stepping out with Stedman

For every successful celebrity who rises to the top, there’s a room of tabloid editors ready to take them down.
Oprah Winfrey, who has long been a tabloid target, talked about that, among other topics, on Gwyneth Paltrow’s premiere Goop podcast on Thursday. What was surprising, however, was how the Wrinkle in Time star, who has the money to buy up the tabloids and just shutter them all if she wanted to, admitted that she’s had to change her life — specifically her personal life with her beau of a zillion years, businessman Stedman Graham — because of the magazines.

Winfrey talked to Paltrow about how she’s “lived every other week” in the tabloids, and recounted how Maya Angelou once told her that the stories in the rags didn’t actually have anything to do with her. “It has to do with whoever sat down at the computer at that moment,” O said. “‘What can we say that is going to sell some stories?’” However, she then admitted, “It’s also why I stopped making as many public appearances with Stedman — because I realized that every time there’s a new photograph, there’s a new story. It’s an invitation.”
“I picture it,” she continued, going on to imagine the inner workings of a tabloid. “They’ve got the pictures on the wall. What do we have this week? What expression do we have? What can we create out of that?
Oprah Winfrey and Stedman Graham smile as they arrive at the Vanity Fair Oscar party in 2015, but that isn’t good tabloid material. They look too happy! (Photo: Steve Granitz/WireImage)

Can you blame her, though? If you’ve ever even glanced at a rack of tabloids, you know exactly what she’s talking about. More than many other stars, stories about Oprah have dominated the rags for decades. All the way back in 1990, a relative received a paycheck from the National Enquirer for breaking the news that Oprah had a baby at the age of 14. “I took to my bed and cried for three days,” Winfrey said in 2007, describing herself as “devastated. Wounded. Betrayed.” Another one, from 2009, was about how she had three years to live.
She’s sued over stories. She’s gone public with very personal things about herself — that she smoked crack cocaine in her 20s and that she discovered she had a long-lost half-sister — to beat the mags to the punch. She set the record straight in some cases — such as the one with her so-called secret son in 2015. She’s made fun of their ridiculousness.
Second to Oprah’s weight, the favorite topic of the tabs is her relationship with Stedman. They’re breaking up. He’s cheating. She’s cheating. They’re in a fake romance because the world won’t accept her closeted homosexual relationship with her BFF, Gayle King. She’s in a sex scandal. So. Much. Garbage. Let’s look at some of the more ridiculous headlines/themes about them over the years…
1. “New Oprah Shocker! Fiancé Stedman Had Gay Sex With Cousin”: We referenced lawsuits, and this was one. In 1992, that headline led the pair to sue a Canadian tabloid called News Extra for defamation, invasion of privacy, and intentional infliction of emotional distress after it ran a story claiming Graham “once had a gay affair with his own cousin.” The couple came out victorious.
2. The “marriage bombshell” that Oprah and Stedman were “Ready to Wed After Dating for 30 Years”: This one came out two years ago. They’re still not married. She said in August that they never will be.

3. Oprah and Stedman split … over President Obama.

4. Oprah and Stedman split … over Gayle.
For years Oprah and Gayle have said they are just friends, but that hasn’t stopped this. (Photo: National Enquirer)

We also noticed that “betrayed” is a favorite in all Oprah-related covers.
Oprah being betrayed — or betraying someone — is a common theme. (Photos: National Enquirer/ Globe)

Tabloids bank on people caring about her getting married.
According to the tabloids, Oprah has been planning a wedding for decades. (Photos: National Enquirer/ Star/ Examiner)

And if Oprah and Stedman cheated on each other as much as the tabs have said they have — they are getting a lot of action.
With it being International Women’s Day, it’s hard not to view this obsession with Oprah’s relationship as anything less than bizarre. She’s achieved so much professionally. On top of that, she’s held down a romance for 30 years. So maybe it’s time for the tabs to tackle new topics. And let the woman have a damn date night in peace

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says it has recorded a decrease in the number of registered candidates for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) in 2018.

The Registrar of the Board, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede disclosed this to newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja.

Oloyode said that a total number of 1, 662, 762 candidates registered for the 2018 UTME, within a period of two months, as against a total of 1,718,425 candidates who registered within one month in 2017.

He explained that the decrease of 3.2 per cent was largely, as a result of measures put in place by the board to forestall multiple registrations and other unwholesome registration practices by candidates.

Oloyede also noted that a total of 367 visually impaired candidates registered for the 2018 examination as against the 201 candidates of 2017.

He said that the board will continue to provide all necessary support and logistics to the physically challenged candidates in order to encourage them to attain their pursuit for knowledge.

According to the registrar, the board recorded a pleasantly high number of candidates for the 2018 UTME examinations from foreign countries.

Dangote Loses N2b Monthly To Apapa Traffic Jam

The Management of Dangote Group says its sugar and salt companies lose about N2 billion monthly to the perennial traffic gridlocks on Apapa Port roads every month.

The company’s traffic Manager, Mr Mohammadu Rabiu, revealed this at a stakeholders meeting called at the instance of the Western Naval Command of the Nigerian Navy in Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the meeting was aimed a finding a lasting solution to the chaotic traffic situation in the area. Rabiu said that the company was losing so much because of its inability to lift products from its depot at the port as a result of the traffic congestion.

He refuted claims that Dangote trucks were among those constituting nuisance in the area, saying that the company’s transport unit only sent out specific numbers of trucks that have business to do in the port.

We sent about 40 trucks daily to our
depot but they have to remain on the bridge pending when they have access to the ports. Any single Dangote truck seen on the road is needed in the port. You will never see repair work being done on Dangote truck by the side of the road or on the bridges,” he said.

Rabiu, however, advised the Nigerian Ports Authority to introduce tallying system for truck drivers, adding that any truck on Lagos roads without carrying tally should be turned back.

Unwanted trucks that do not have anything to do in the port should not be seen on the road. The solution to the traffic problem in Apapa is by removing unwanted trucks from the roads,’’ he added.

Dear Atiku, No Be By 'Black Panther' O!
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Gimbiya - 03-09-2018, 12:05 PM - No Replies

Former Vice President Abubakar Atiku, over the weekend, went to a cinema in Abuja to see the Marvel Cinematic Empire’s latest offering, Black Panther. According to Twitterverse, Atiku became the cinema himself. In the spirit of Baba rere, Baba ke! with which he was heralded, Atiku paid for people’s cinema tickets.

Relatively, the one with the perspicacity to use the social media to advantage and position himself as the “youth’s youth,” the former Vice President tweeted his appreciation of the film and wrote his reflection on the lessons Black Panther held for Nigerians.

Atiku is likely to run for the Presidency in 2019 and his activities that are being translated into social media showings are calibrated towards having a good outing in 2019. I have no problems with Atiku’s candidature although I believe that, by now, he should be Nigeria’s past tense and not jockeying for leadership roles anymore.

Atiku, to be honest, came across as a prepared candidate in 2015. He had done his homework far much more than Muhammadu Buhari. But, what counted against Atiku and all those who stood against Buhari then was corruption. Buhari only needed to shout “corruption,” and his followers would take up the refrain without asking him what he meant by corruption and what innovative ways he had designed to counter it.

Come 2019, Buhari can no longer use corruption as his unique selling point and get reasonable people to buy his wares. At the rate the “anything but Buhari” sentiment is percolating, the choice for the Presidency might fall on Atiku. That is one reason he should be taken seriously and interrogated with vigour.

Otherwise, Nigerians will soon find themselves buying another overrated and overpriced presidential candidate; one who cannot even be honest or reflective enough to see when the ground beneath his feet is giving way.

One of the most significant failings of Nigerians in 2015 was allowing Buhari to get away with not debating with his opponents. If we had stopped to ponder then, we should have asked what manner of officer runs away from battle? From 2015, the cowardice that made Buhari skip an essential ritual of democracy has been a defining trait of his Presidency.

From avoiding talking to Nigerians, to the aloofness that has kept him away from those who have been slaughtered in their homes because his government has done poorly on security, Buhari has checked every box. For 2019, it is crucial we learn a lesson and not, once again, let the ostentatious parade of populism obscure what matters.

Atiku’s buying film tickets, watching a popular movie, and writing his reflection on it are all part of the games that politicians play at election time. I understand that he has to connect to millennials but beyond all those, he should be talking about specific ideas that show that he has the potential for the creative governance Nigeria needs.

The lessons he took away from the fictional country of Wakanda are the “safe” ones, the kind of things that say a lot without saying anything tangible. While films are soft power political projects, they are also just entertainment. They condense realities and therefore can oversimplify things for its audience. One of the criticisms of some other films now showing in the theatre such as Victoria and Abdul and Darkest Hour is how they bury the rubble of painful history under the gloss of cinematic representation of colonial nobility. Victoria and Abdul talks about an unlikely friendship between the Queen of England and an Indian servant in an era where India was being plundered by rapacious colonialists. The film does not see or hear or talk of the great evils of colonialism to Indians. Instead, it features the trope of a noble savage in an Indian man elevated to civilised western standards and who, in turn, elevated the Queen’s virtues with his earthiness. Darkest Hour narrates the iconic leadership of Winston Churchill in an era darkened by uncertainty; where crucial choices were defining. It carefully elides his racism, imperialism, and penchant for eugenics.

Films are great places to look for inspiration, but no country needs leadership that takes its lessons from films. Africa needs leaders that have read widely, and who, like the sons of Issachar, have an understanding of the times and what a country needs to do to raise its head. They should have read the history of all cultures from Africa to ancient Greek, philosophy, and also have an understanding of how the modern world functions. A popular fare like Black Panther is highly unlikely to fill in those gaps.

Atiku can watch all the film he likes, but, when he wants to address the issues that face Nigeria, he needs more than a popular culture reference. If at all he must talk about Wakanda, he should be having a brutal self-reflection on why he is one of the many reasons Nigeria is not – and cannot yet be- like Wakanda. If he reflects on the leadership he was part of between 1999 and 2007, he will come up with far more uneasy answers on why things are the way they are, and what needs to be done.

He would understand why the vision of Africa he wants us to aspire to in Wakanda came from America, and not among Africans themselves. Black Panther was a comic started in the 1960s by a group of young men who were incidentally Jews. More than 50 years after they first dreamt of a sophisticated African future, no African country has come near to inhabiting that vision. We are poorer than ever, our population is outpacing resources, and we still look towards the west for everything — from food to technology, and even to a vision of the future.

Our writers hardly write futuristic stories or science fictions; our stories instead are full of pessimism: poverty, corruption, disease and dehumanising spectres. To write stories like Black Panther, we will need to have given our children quality education that premises scientific thinking and its endless possibilities.

Then, they would ask why our schools are so decrepit, and why our children are given an education so poor and outdated that dreams of the future are almost an unaffordable luxury. Recently, a Ghanaian teacher went viral on social media for drawing a computer on the blackboard for his students. In 2018, African children are being made to learn computer in a way it would not have been done even in the 80s.

If African leaders gave up some of their vainglorious superfluities, they would be able to provide standard schools to children and hopefully even buy them computers. But no, never, they will not do that because they are too selfish and myopic. They will rather spend the money on frivolities, travel abroad, and try to impress western leaders who already think of them as “shithole” tropes.

A future like Wakanda is worth aspiring to, but the path to that kind of future will take much more than drawing apparent lessons. It takes a lot of work; self-introspection, building a new political and social culture; and a leadership that has cultivated enough self-mastery to challenge our social culture, and rightfully too. Ours is a society where books are unavailable in schools but some of the most vibrant publishing presses are run by the church.

They issue out books containing magical tales until impressionable minds are convinced that science is the white man’s indulgence, that some supernatural realities exist beyond the natural and we will never know. In that kind of social context, how can you have a society where vibranium is a thing let alone have the citizenry that understands what to do with it? Sorry, Atiku, you took away only the easy lessons from Black Panther.

Abdullahi Adamu: "Saraki Is Like A Son To Me"
User Avatar Forum: Politics

Quote:AN All Progressive Congress, APC Senator, Abdullahi Adamu, (Nassarawa West), accused of spearheading alleged plot to oust Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has debunked the allegation.

Adamu was accused by Obinna Ogba, (Ebonyi Central), on Thursday, March 8, during plenary with what he called “evidence” of Adamu’s plot to oust Saraki.

Ogba said he has a transcript of Adamu speaking with other people about his plans.

“I rise this morning to bring to the notice of the senate that there is a plan by some people in this senate, maybe under the leadership of my distinguished colleague, particularly senator Abdullahi Adamu. Mr. President, you remember in January, distinguished senator Misau made a comment here that there was a plan to remove the Senate President and in fact the leadership.

“Now, I have reliable information that some people are already planning to destabilise the senate, including the senate leadership by organising demonstration of which money is already exchanging hands. I believe that all of us are all leaders in this in this country and everybody who see something that will destabilise the country or the senate or even the democracy should avoid it.

“As we are here, if there is any is going on, you have the opportunity to raise it and not to go outside the chambers to start planning civil resistance, market women to come for demonstration against the leadership of the senate.

“Mr. President, I want this senate to investigate this matter properly. I have evidence to show what I’m saying. There is a telephone conversation going on which any other person can also print it out, between senator Abdullahi Adamu and some other people,” Ogba said before laying hi evidence.

Ike Ekeweremadu, deputy senate president, who presided over plenary said anyone planning to destabilise the country “is not doing us good”.

“The difference between military, autocratic regime and any other oppressive regime is the parliament. Once we remove the parliament, there is going to be problem. In whatever we do, we must continue to preserve the sanctity of the parliament,” Ekeweremadu said.

But reacting, Adamu said Saraki is like a son to him denying being involved in the alleged plot to remove him.

Speaking with reporters hours after the statement of Ogba, the accused lawmaker said he found what transpired at the chamber as “amusing”.

“A colleague called me and drew my attention to what happened on the floor of the senate today. It is amusing but very sadden at the same time.

“I am not in anyway after Saraki. Saraki is like a son to me. I had the right to contest for the senate president seat three years ago when the 8th senate was inaugurated, but I never did because I wasn’t interested.

“It is therefore, not logical for anyone to say I’m interested in the seat now, and will be planning to destabilise the senate. To achieve what? For what purpose? It is not right for anyone to make such unfounded insinuations.

“We are almost three years in office, the election year is drawing nearer, and I think anyone thinking of upstaging the leadership of the senate for any reason will only be fighting a lost battle because it is not what should naturally occupy the mind of any serious-minded lawmaker.

“As for me, let me repeat that I’m not in anyway after Saraki, I can’t be after Saraki, and I won’t do anything to upstage the leadership as being claimed because it’s a fruitless venture.

“But if I believe strongly in a cause, I stand by it. If I’ve offended anyone by my strong stand on some issues in the senate in accordance with my conviction, I stand by it anytime. But the issue of trying to cause disaffection in the senate is a no issues at all.

“Whatever we do in this world, we must be ready to bear our cross, I’m ready to bear mine. Anyone who knows me will say clearly that I’m not plotting to remove Saraki. Let them look for another thing to say,” he said.

Adamu challenged those who levelled the allegations against him to provide “incontrovertible facts” to prove their claims.

Adamu is one of the senator’s who kicked against the amended election timetable for 2019.

He was later removed as chairman of the northern senators’ forum after being accused “financial mismanagement and maladministration”.

Order Police IG To Enforce Benue Anti-Open Grazing Law - Reps Tells Buhari
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 03-09-2018, 11:59 AM - No Replies

Quote:The House of Representatives on Thursday asked President Muhammadu Buhari to direct security agencies to immediately begin the enforcement of the Open Grazing (Prohibition) Law in Benue State and halt the killings by herdsmen.

The House passed the resolution in Abuja as lawmakers again condemned the latest attacks on villagers in the Okpokwu Local Government Area of the state where 26 more lives were lost on Monday.

The session, which was presided over by the Speaker, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, stated that the government must recognise the fact that as a state, Benue was covered by the 1999 Constitution (as amended) to make laws for the good governance of its existence.

It stressed that there were no alternatives to enforcing a law duly passed by a state assembly and called on the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, and heads of other security agencies to implement the anti-open grazing law.

An All Progressives Congress member from Benue State, Mr. Hassan Saleh, had drawn the attention of the House to the latest killings, blaming the actions of the herdsmen on the “refusal of the police and other security services” to enforce the law.

The development came as another APC member from Edo State, Mr. Johnson Egwakhide-Oghuma, faulted the use of quota system in recruitment into the country’s security agencies.

“Security is a specialised issue. You don’t recruit people into security services on the basis of quota system.

“Security is not necessarily a matter you use for the mere sake of providing employment.

“It is a specialised duty where you do not compromise merit, education and the willingness to do the right thing,” Egwakhide-Oghuma stated.

Leading the debate on the killings, Saleh, who represents Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency, told his colleagues that the police and other security services simply turned their backs while the herdsmen continued to hack down defenceless citizens.

He said, “The government has not restricted the herdsmen. These same herdsmen and their cultural organisation, Miyetti Cattle Breeders, have vowed to continue the killings until the anti-open grazing law is reversed.

“The IG and other security services must arrest these killers and prosecute them. We are playing with the future of this country.

“I have received about 700 calls since Monday alone; people are telling me that they are willing to defend themselves. I have to keep pleading with them.

“We must be careful. Mr. Speaker, if we don’t arrest this situation of insecurity all over the country, one day it will consume all of us.

“Mr. Speaker, when it starts, you and I will not be able to sit here in Abuja.”

Dogara did not allow further debate on the motion. He quickly referred it to the ad hoc committee already set up by the House to look into insecurity cases in the country.

However, on his part, Egwakhide-Oghuma called for a review of the recruitment process into security services to play up merit, intelligence and the ability to respond to training.

The lawmaker argued that a government that used job creation as a criterion for recruitment into its security agencies was not prepared to combat crime.

Though, he commended Buhari for the efforts of his administration to recover all territories hitherto occupied by Boko Haram insurgents, Egwakhide-Oghuma insisted that the government must do more.

The House also passed a separate resolution calling for adequate security cover for international aid agencies working in the North-East, particularly Borno State.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday said residents of parts of the country where members of the Boko Haram sect were operating before he assumed office in 2015 were in the best position to disclose the change that had taken place under his watch.

According to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President spoke while receiving a delegation from King Salman of Saudi Arabia at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

“President Muhammadu Buhari Thursday in Abuja said Nigerians in the areas affected by Boko Haram insurgency are in the best position to provide correct assessments of the changes that have taken place since he assumed office in 2015,” the statement.

Shehu quoted the President Buhari as saying that his administration was mindful of the three-pronged promises made to Nigerians before the 2015 elections.

He said he remained undeterred and focused on securing the lives and properties of Nigerians.

Buhari told the Saudi Arabian delegation that the priority of his administration had so far been on securing the country, buoying the economy and curbing corruption so that Nigerians would start benefitting from the rich natural and human resources of the country.

In his remarks, the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, said the delegation from Saudi Arabia had already visited the Ministry of Defence, Defence Headquarters and taken a tour of IDP camps in Maiduguri as part of their schedule.

The Leader of the Saudi Arabian delegation from King Salman, Nasser Bin Mutlaq, said the visit and the donation of materials was an extension of the good relations both countries had shared over the years.

“We are directed to offer materials and food for the displaced persons in the North- East worth $10m. We have had a field visit to the places and seen the humanitarian situation ourselves,” he added.

4 Drunken Caucasians Gang-Raped Me - Nigerian Prostitute
[Image: prostitu.jpg]
Nigerian woman who escaped from her madam in Russia has narrated how she was trafficked to Russia for prostitution by another Nigerian woman and raped by four drunk white men.

According to Mrs. Osasis John, [not real name], now pregnant for a boyfriend she abandoned five years ago to seek greener pastures in Russia, said she left Nigeria in 2013, but before then was taken to a juju priest at Sabongiga Ora,a suburb in Edo State, where she swore to an oath.

Narrating her story to newsmen at the round table meeting organised by the leadership of the Nigerian Senate in Benin City to proffer solutions to the problems of illegal migration and human trafficking, the lady said, she was told by her madam that she will engage in prostitution for six months and then introduced to another business.

It was based on this premise, she said, she agreed to go to Russia, signed an agreement to pay$50,000.00 out of which she paid $15,000.00 before her escape.

“I went to Russia in 2013, and the reason why I decided to go Russia was because, I gained admission into Edo State College of Education [COLBEN]but could not pay the fees, so when the woman approached me, I agreed to go to Russia.

We agreed that I will pay her $ 50.000 and when I got to Russia,we were up to 20 girls sleeping in one room. We used to go out 3.00.pm and come back 3.00am. Out of the agreed $50.000,I paid $15,000.

The worst day for me was the dayfour drunk men gang raped me.I was called by my madam to see a client, but I was not aware that they were four men, all drunk and when they took me out, they gang raped me, taking their turns one after another in a very cold night.

At a time, I became tired of what I was doing, but the fear of the oath I swore was what held me bound”, she said.

[Image: jennifer-lawrence-serena-london-premiere-2014-1.jpg]
27-year-old American actress, Jennifer Lawrence  revealed in an interview with The Sun that she rarely has sex as she is a germaphobe while she also forces partners to undergo STI tests.

Jennifer who has previously dated director Darren Aronofsky, actor Nicholas Hoult and  Chris Martin, hates physical contact, including shaking hands, as she’s so worried about catching a disease.

She is quoted by The Sun newspaper as saying:
I am all bark and no bite. I always talk like I want d**k, but the truth is when I look back at my sexual past it was always with boyfriends.

I talk like I like it, but I don’t really do it. I am mostly also a germaphobe. I have made it this far without an STI. D**k is dangerous.

If I was at the point where I could get an STI, doctors have already been involved. That is how much of a germaphobe I am.’

But Jennifer is keen to embark on a new relationship as she’s finding single life “hard”, saying:

I am not in a relationship. I am making it clear that I have not had sex in a very long time. I would like to have a relationship, you know. It is hard out there.’

Some parents of the 110 abducted Dapchi schoolgirls marched to the National Assembly to register their pains with the federal lawmakers in continuation of their clamour for the release of the pupils abducted by Boko Haram terrorists penultimate week.

Wearing swollen faces that bore marks of pain and agony, some of the parents recounted their ordeals since the abduction of their daughters, saying that it had been a heartbreaking experience and nightmare since their daughters went missing. The parents, who wore adorned in black shirts with the inscription,

“We are Dapchi People”, said that they had not come to criticise and attack the government but to demand the rescue of their daughters.

When the schoolgirls were kidnapped President Buhari in a press release made available to journalists by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu said he shared the pains of the parents whose children and wards were abducted and would spare no efforts in ensuring that the pupils were rescued.

He said the Federal Government would be sending more troops and surveillance aircraft for a 24-hour surveillance of the area.

A Range Rover Sport built exclusively for former Manchester United and Real Madrid star, David Beckham is set to sell for more than £30,000 – £70,000 less than he paid for it.

Beckham paid £100,000 to get the flash dark green 4×4 upgraded with his own specific features in 2007, Mailonline reports.

Experts installed a unique interior, which included hand-stitched quilted leather seats, a bespoke sound system and twin rear screens that his sons Brooklyn and Romeo could use to play PlayStation.

It also has a plaque with ‘Designed for David Beckham’ on it and DVLA records list the former England captain, 42, as the first owner.

Auctioneers looking to sell the car at Birmingham’s NEC later this month have given it a guide price of £32,000 to £36,000.

Arwel Richards, classic car specialist at CCA, said:
Just think, you could be sharing the same driver’s seat as the man who has scored some of the most memorable goals in football, was an England football captain and who went on to become a global superstar.

Trump, North Korea’s Kim To Hold Historic Meeting
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Gimbiya - 03-09-2018, 11:12 AM - No Replies

U.S President Donald Trump has agreed to a historic first meeting with Kim Jong Un in a stunning development in America’s high-stakes nuclear standoff with North Korea.

Standing in front of the White House, South Korean National Security Advisor Chung Eui-yong announced the first ever meeting between a US president and North Korean leader, which he said would take place by the end of May.

Chung had recently returned from Pyongyang, where he met Kim, who, he said “expressed his eagerness to meet President Trump as soon as possible.”

Trump hailed “great progress” in the push to persuade Pyongyang to end its nuclear weapons program.

“Meeting being planned!” he tweeted. “Kim Jong Un talked about denuclearization with the South Korean Representatives, not just a freeze. Also, no missile testing by North Korea during this period of time.”

“Great progress being made but sanctions will remain until an agreement is reached.”

News of the summit is the latest step in a quickening diplomatic detente that has seen North and South Korea exchange envoys.

Pyongyang also sent a delegation to the Winter Olympics in the South, which Seoul had dubbed the “Peace Games” and which saw the two countries marching under a unified flag.

The thaw came after a period of extreme tension between Washington and Pyongyang that sounded like the growing drumbeat of war.

Just months ago, Trump mocked Kim by calling him “little rocket man” and Kim returned the favor by describing Trump as “mentally deranged” and a “dotard.”

The United States and North Korea were foes throughout the Cold War and fought on opposite sides of a bloody war in the 1950s.

In the last two decades, they have been engaged in what is perhaps the world’s most dangerous nuclear standoff, with 30,000 US military personnel stationed just over the border in the South.

– Paradigm shift –

Pyongyang’s decades-long race to develop a nuclear weapon capable of hitting the continental United States has proved a problem for successive administrations.

Trump’s strategy has been to ramp up sanctions, tighten the diplomatic screws and regularly threaten military force.

The White House said in a statement that strategy of “maximum pressure” would stay in place, for now.

“We look forward to the denuclearization of North Korea. In the meantime, all sanctions and maximum pressure must remain.”

But the prospect of a top-level meeting is a paradigm shift.

North Korean leaders have sought face-to-face talks with consecutive US presidents, who have rebuffed the idea as an effort to achieve strategic parity that does not exist.

Pyongyang now seems to have achieved its goal, while only agreeing to a temporary suspension of nuclear tests.

It is a gambit fraught with risk for Trump. On multiple occasions, Kim’s father Kim Jong Il dangled the prospect of talks and denuclearization as a means of buying time, easing sanctions and dividing South Korea from its allies.

However his decision also carries historic echoes of Richard Nixon’s visit to communist China or Barack Obama’s overture to Cuba, both of which offered the hope of better ties.

Getting a visa is not difficult. You simply need two things- complete documents and confidence. You will definitely get your visa. However, this is not always the case.

There are avoidable mistakes that may happen during the visa interview that will obviously ruin your chances of being issued a visa. To forestall these possible problems during your visa interview, Jumia Travel, the leading online travel agency, shares some mistakes to steer clear of.

Inappropriate Answers

You should be prepared for your visa interview so that you do not give irrelevant and inappropriate answers. If you are not able to predict what visa interview questions are, you will not be able to give genuine and well-thought-out answers for visa officials. That is why it is essential for you to be familiar with the common visa interview questions, to properly plan in your head your answers early enough before the visa interview date.

Skipping questions or giving false answers

Whenever you apply for a visa, the interview is simply a way for the diplomatic office to meet with you and understand more in depth if the information provided in the visa application form is correctly offered. Trying to avoid answering questions of the visa official, does not protect you at all. Also, giving fake information does not give you any good result, as the diplomatic office will reconfirm all the information you provide during the interview and in the application form.

Inappropriate appearance

The way you appear during your interview, including your outfit, shoes, makeup, body posture and even the amount of perfume you wear can go a long way in determining the outcome of the interview. Remember that the first impression is everything and, usually, you cannot get the second chance to leave the first impression, so give it the needed importance instead of trying to improve it another time.

Incomplete supporting documentation

Appearing in the interview half or inappropriately equipped with the needed documentation to support the accuracy of the information provided in the visa application form, will absolutely decrease your chances to get a visa. Instead, make sure to consider early enough all the visa requirements and ensure they are complete.

Unnecessary information

If you have been asked a question, make sure to understand it well. Exaggerated answers and not required explanations are not supposed to be given in visa interview. The visa official is not interested in losing a day hearing unneeded and irrelevant information. The official only wants to get specific and clear information that directly asks you.

Nervousness

What destroys your answers during the interview, is appearing there full of nervousness. Even though your visa application and supporting documents, as well as your physical appearance, are as they should, nervousness, over-confidence might be destroyers of your interview.

Lateness

When you have a visa interview appointment, the embassy or consulate will communicate the exact date and time of it. As such try to arrive at the embassy or consulate where your interview will take place, at least a few minutes earlier. For example, if you have a visa interview at the US embassy, there is no room for lateness the gates open as early as 6: am. It is advisable you book a hotel near the embassy so that you won’t be late.

WELCOME BACK! Serena Williams Wins In WTA Tour Return

Tennis ace, Serena Williams, marked her return to the WTA Tour with a first round win over Zarina Diyas in the first round at Indian Wells.

She shook off the rust from a 15-month layoff due to pregnancy to win her opening match at the WTA Indian Wells event with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Zarina Diyas.

Serena has won her first match in her comeback at the BNP Paribas Open after a 14-month layoff for the birth of her first child.

The 23-time major winner beat Zarina Diyas of Kazakhstan 7-5, 6-3 in the first round Thursday night.

“It was incredible,” Williams said on court afterward. “It’s been over a year and a kid later and I get to go home to her now, and I’m excited about that.”

“It definitely wasn’t easy,” Williams said on court. “We always have a couple tight sets. It was good. I’m a little rusty, but it doesn’t matter. I’m just out here on this journey and doing the best I can.”

With new husband and Reddit co-found Alexis Ohanian looking on, Williams played from behind until breaking Diyas in the 11th game of the first set. Diyas netted a forehand and Williams yelled, “Come on!” as the crowd cheered.

Diyas and Williams traded service breaks early in the second set. Williams then broke her opponent again en route to winning the final five games. She smiled as she walked to the net, and her family gave her a standing ovation.

Pastor Impregnates 2 Sisters In Delta After ‘fake Deliverance’
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 03-09-2018, 10:31 AM - No Replies

Quote:A 41-year-old randy pastor (name withheld) of a new generation church in Ugbolu Community, near Asaba, Delta State, has allegedly put in family way, two sisters after conducting “Fake Deliverance” for them.

It was gathered that in 1998, the said pastor had, in Enugu State, allegedly committed same act when he was said to have slept with a mother and daughter during an all-night service, and was subsequently banished from the town after he was subjected to severe beating by angry church youths. Sources said the two sisters, undergraduates of the National Open University, Asaba study centre (names withheld) had been regular visitors to the pastor’s church in the Community, and most times, attended his deliverance service before the bubble burst.

According to our informed sources, trouble started in December 2017 when the two sisters sought the pastor’s spiritual help for an undisclosed spiritual attack, a situation he allegedly respond to and hoodwinked them into doing deliverance during night fall, an offer the unsuspecting sisters willingly accepted without hesitation.

It was further gathered that the pastor allegedly “arranged” a room within the church premises where the two sisters, native of Asaba were ordered Unclad, and in the process, were offered water in a big bucket to bath with.

While the purported deliverance process lasted, the pastor, an insider said, suddenly went into uncontrollable act, leaving his manhood blown out of his white garment dress, and in a twinkle of an eye allegedly buried it into one of the victims vagina. A member of the church Celestine Okoh, told our reporter that the lid of the pastor’s illicit and purported deliverance act was blown open last Sunday, during church service when the two sisters, in what appeared to be mild drama, stormed the church with some hired thugs and in a fit of fury, allegedly dragged the pastor out before they started beating and stoning him in the process.

In the melee, his church was set ablaze by the angry youths who also ensured that those who supported him were disgraced and beaten to stupor.

TB Joshua’s SCOAN Must Face Trial – Court Rules
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 03-09-2018, 10:13 AM - No Replies

The Igbosere High Court on Thursday declared that the Registered Trustees of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) involved in the collapsed six-storey building have a case to answer in the charge preferred against them.

The court made the declaration while ruling on a No Case Submission application filed by the defendants.

The state government had charged the church’s Board of Trustees to court over the collapse of the building, which killed no fewer than 116 persons on September 12, 2014.

The engineers – Oladele Ogundeji and Akinbela Fatiregun – were also charged alongside their companies, Hardrock Construction and Engineering Company and Jandy Trust Ltd.

They are facing 110 counts of involuntary manslaughter, while the registered trustees of SCOAN were charged with one count of building without approval.

The Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions stated that the defendants violated Section 75 of the Urban and Regional Planning Law of Lagos State 2010 as well as Section 222 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.

They were arraigned on April 19, 2016, but they pleaded ‘not guilty’.

The prosecution subsequently opened its case, called witnesses and tendered documents to prove the allegations against the defendants.

However, upon the close of the prosecution’s case in October 2017, the defendants, rather than enter their defence, filed a ‘no-case’ submission, contending that the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case against them.

The defence insisted that there was nothing in the evidence provided by the prosecution to warrant their clients to proceed into any defence.

They, therefore, urged the court to discharge the defendants.

However, the prosecution opposed the no-case submission, arguing that the defendants had a case to answer based on the evidence of all prosecution witnesses.

The prosecution maintained that a prima facie case had been established, which the defendants had to defend.

At the resumed hearing on Thursday, Justice Lateef Lawal-Akapo dismissed the no-case submission filed by the defendants, ordering them to open their defence.

He adjourned the case until April 27 for the defence to open its case.

2 months into marriage, husband wants new wife, current wife burns house

Quote:By Olanrewaju Lawal, Birnin-Kebbi

A house wife identified as Aisha has set her husband’s house ablaze over his intention to marry another woman.

Daily Sun gathered that the husband, whose name was given as Yanusa, who is living very close to Ali Bagudo’s house, Badariya area, Birnin-Kebbi, lost his first wife last year and only married Aisha in February this year.

An eye witness told Daily Sun that the angry wife, who is against her husband’s plan to marry a new wife barely two months into their marriage, insisted that it is too early to bring another woman as wife into the family.

According to the source, “Yunusa, who lost his first wife last year, married Aisha; but it seems that they are not on good terms.

When her husband told her his intention to marry another woman, she got angry and set ablaze her husband’s house when he went out on Tuesday to his office.”

The source added that though nobody died in the inferno “most of valuable property belonging to the husband were burnt in the fire.”

It was further learnt that family members came out to extinguish the inferno, and removed few of the husband’s property.

When contacted, Police Public Relation Officer DSP Suleiman Mustapha told Daily Sun on phone that the police did not receive any “official complaint from anybody at the nearest police station in the area.”

54 Severed Hands In A Bag In Russia Discovered (Photos)

Shocked locals have discovered a bag containing 27 pairs of severed human hands in far eastern Russia.

The shocking find was made close to the city of Khabarovsk in Siberia, close to the border with China.

A local found one of the hands lying on the shore of a river, leading police officers to a bag with the other 53 hands inside.

While nobody knows where the hands came from, one theory is that they were removed by body part dealers to stop police identifying the remains they were trying to sell.

Another is that the hands were severed from dead bodies in a hospital but it isunclear why this would happen.

FG Still Eyes Arik, Aero As Fulcrum For National Carrier
User Avatar Forum: Travel/Aviation
Posted by: Edoman - 03-09-2018, 10:04 AM - No Replies

Despite the process currently going on to create a national carrier, Akelicious has learnt that the federal government still hopes to establish the new airline on the foundation already laid by Arik Air with technical support from the maintenance section of Aero Contractors.

According to informed source from the industry, it would be a lot easier to build the national airline on the operations of Arik Air, which is currently under the management of Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) along with Aero Contractors than to establish an entirely new airline.

The source said that establishing a new airline from the scratch would take a longer time and might not be realised before the termination of the current administration.

The federal government early last year established transaction advisers for a new national carrier and also for the concession of the nation’s major airports.

Akelicious also learnt that with the advancement made by Aero Contractors in establishing a maintenance facility for Boeing B737 classics and working on upgrading to conducting maintenance on New General Boeing B737 aircraft types, which is the aircraft largely in the fleet of Arik Air, it would be easy to marry the two airlines and form the basis for the establishment of a national carrier.

Although it is not yet confirmed by the Minister of State, Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, but Akelicious learnt that the federal government may work with Qatar Airways as core investor for the new national airline and if it goes as planned, the Middle East airline would supply the new carrier most of its large-body aircraft to commence operations to international destinations.

However, many airline owners currently in operation are not positively disposed to Nigeria establishing a national carrier because they believe government would favour it against them and this would drastically affect the market, as most of the passenger traffic would be mopped by the new airline, which would enjoy government’s support with waiver in charges and many other favorable considerations.

Akelicious also learnt that the owners of Aero and Arik, which are currently under the management of AMCON, have muted that they would sue the federal government if their interests are not met in the plan to establish a national carrier.

Also AMCON may not be disposed to incorporating Arik Air and Aero into the national carrier project because the Corporation is disposed to recovering its huge funds sunk in the two airlines and there would be no guarantee that these funds would be recovered when the two airlines metamorphose to a national carrier with a core investor and private sector driven management and ownership with little government stake, as enunciated by Sirika.

AMCON had earlier indicated that its management had severally turned down the request to use the two airlines as national carrier, arguing that the debt overhang in the airlines would not make such start up feasible because this means that the new airline would be laden with debts at inception.

Besides, AMCON said that it was more interested in recouping the whooping funds projected to between N16 to N20 billion expended on Aero and about N190 billion on Arik to save them from sinking and to sustain their operation.
Industry consultant and CEO of Belujane Konsult, Chris Aligbe, who is fully in support of establishing a national carrier, said that to a large extent, the federal government has been very transparent in the process of establishing a national carrier; unlike in the past when negotiations were done under the table.

On the adoption of Aero and Arik Air, Aligbe said the federal government cannot use the airlines without involving their owners, so if they sue government it might obstruct the plan to establish the national airline or delay its emergence.

On the opposition of the current domestic airlines to a national carrier, Aligbe said that he does not think that the airlines would have the locus to go to court and stand down the plan for a national carrier; rather, they could seek that whatever privileges given to the new national airline should be extended to them.
“They can go to court and seek for equal privileges because favouring one airline against others will be anti-competition,” Aligbe said.

APC NEC Plans To Amend Party's Constitution
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 03-09-2018, 10:00 AM - No Replies

•Stakeholders warn against illegal amendment

•Demand conduct of national convention, congresses

•Lagos chapter ready to challenge move in court

Gboyega Akinsanmi

Quote:Fresh crisis may be looming in the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the national leadership is alleged to have perfected plans to amend the party’s constitution at the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting slated for this month, in order to validate the tenure extension of its principal officers at all levels.

Consequently, some concerned leaders of the ruling party have vowed to reject the planned amendment, which according to them violates Article 13(3-4) of the APC Constitution and Section 223(1-2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

APC, at its last NEC meeting on February 27, had announced a 12-month extension for its elected and appointed executives at all levels of the party.

Citing Article 13 of the APC constitution, which empowers the NEC to carry out the functions of the convention, the party said NEC decided to extend the tenure of the current NWC members and other executive committees at various levels for another twelve months, starting from June 30, 2018.

It said the extension was done to prevent the likelihood of discord that might arise from a convention of the party in the run up to the 2019 elections.

But this was immediately challenged by the Zamfara State governor and other leaders of the party, who said the decision taken at the last NEC meeting was only a “mere expression of interest”.

He had cautioned that the tenure extension could only be achieved through an amendment of the party’s constitution by the National Convention of the APC.

However, one of the concerned leaders yesterday disclosed the plan to amend the party’s constitution at the next NEC meeting in an interview he granted THISDAY in confidence, warning against the decision, which he said will promote the reign of illegality and impunity in the ranks of the APC.

He also faulted the process by which the National Working Committee (NWC) under the chairmanship of Chief John Odigie-Oyegun had set up the Constitution Amendment Committee led by the National Legal Adviser of the APC, Mr. Muiz Banire on January 25, 2017, noting that the process did not comply with Article 13(3-4) of the party’s constitution.

Article 13(4) of the APC Constitution empowers the NWC “to establish ad-hoc and/or standing committees of the party and appoint members to such committees”.

While Article 13(3) empowers the NEC “to ratify the type, nature and membership of the ad-hoc and/or standing committees to be set up by the National Working Committee”, a condition the source said the party leadership did not comply with.

Contingent on these provisions, the APC leader faulted the process that set up the constitution amendment committee in January last year, noting that the NWC constituted the committee without NEC’s ratification as provided in Article 13(3).

The APC leader further disclosed that the constitution amendment committee was meant to have submitted its report to the NEC meeting slated for October 31, 2017 but the meeting was postponed.

As a result, the same constitution amendment report was slated for presentation at the February 27 NEC meeting of the party, but it was not considered. Instead, the party went ahead to announce the tenure extension for all its executives.

He also pointed out that it was after the presidency had realised the illegality of the tenure extension that the NEC had granted the national and state officials, that a plan was hatched to table the report at the next meeting slated for this month.

The goal, he said, is to allow the NEC exercise the power of National Convention and amend the APC Constitution to validate the tenure extension.

He noted that the rationale behind the constitution amendment is to correct the flawed decision of the NEC “to extend the tenure of the APC national chairman and other national and state executives by 12 months”.

After President Muhammadu Buhari had directed the APC leadership to start preparing for the convention and congresses at the last National Caucus meeting of the party, the APC source alleged that it was the Ondo State governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu who had misadvised the presidency, informing it that the NEC could exercise the power of the convention to extend the tenure of the principal officers.

Already, he noted that the presidency “has realised the illegality of the tenure extension”.

“That is why the national leadership is planning to convene another NEC meeting. The meeting may hold between 10 and 15 days from now. The national officials want to use the meeting to correct their errors,” he added.

He also disclosed that the agenda of the meeting is first to tell the world that the tenure of the APC national chairman and other executives was not extended as reported in the media.

“The plan is to tell the world that the NEC only issued a notice of extension and not an extension,” he explained

He also warned that the move by the national leadership of the party would be at variance with Section 223(1-2) of the 1999 Constitution, which according to him, states clearly the processes, procedures and requirements for the emergence of political party officials.

Section 223(1) states that the constitution and rules of a political party “shall provide for a periodical election on a democratic basis of the principal officers and members of the executive committee or other governing body of the political party…”

Section 223(2) further states: “The election of the officers or members of the executive committee of a political party shall be deemed to be periodical only if it is made at regular intervals not exceeding four years.”

Based on these provisions, the APC leader argued that the NEC lacks the power to amend the APC Constitution.

“The power to amend the party’s constitution can only be exercised by the National Convention. Even if the NEC can exercise the party’s constitution, it cannot amend it to deviate from the provisions of the 1999 Constitution.

“Section 223(1-2) of the 1999 Constitution is clear about the conduct of national conventions and congresses. The section states clearly how the officials of parties at all levels can emerge at the end of their tenure.

“It never made provisions for tenure extension. Also, it does not give any organ of the party – except at the National Convention – the power to amend the constitution,” he said,

He also recalled that it was this kind of impunity and lawlessness that destroyed the People Democratic Party (PDP). “We are all witness to the fall of the PDP,” he said, warning that some APC leaders were already walking on the path of destruction.

“The implication is huge for the future of the APC. First, it is a dangerous precedent for a party that promised change. Second, any person produced from that process can be removed if challenged at the court.

“Besides, opposition parties can take advantage of this to challenge the APC in court after the general election. So, the mandate of any political official produced from this process will be under threat,” he warned.

Another party source who spoke on the issue also confirmed that there was a plan to amend the party’s constitution at the next NEC meeting, but said should the national leadership of the party go ahead with the plan, the Lagos chapter of the APC was prepared to go to court to challenge the validity of the decision.

According to him, “The move to amend the constitution at the NEC meeting can lead to a series of litigations and crises. I am aware that the Lagos APC is ready to go to court should the NEC amend the constitution and not the National Convention of the party.”

When he was reminded that Article 13 of the APC Constitution empowers the NEC to carry out the functions of the convention, he said: “Even if we have to consider Article 13 of the constitution, it is still debatable if NEC can assume the power of the National Convention or whether it can legally carry out an amendment of the constitution.”

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

FRIDAY, 9TH MARCH.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨ Light And Direction ✨

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path (Psalm 119:105).

No one who knows and lives by God’s Word ever gets confused in life; the Word gives you light and direction. If you have the Word of God in you, you know where you’re going; your life has a meaning; your journey is forward and upward only, because God’s Word is a lamp that brightens your path, and a light that directs you.

Psalm 119:130 says, “The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.” David was saying this to God. No wonder he was so guided and led of God; he was an extraordinary success. During his reign as king over Israel, Israel never lost a battle except the one he wasn’t involved in. David knew how to consult with God and receive light and direction from the Spirit.

Don’t play the guessing game with your life; receive light and direction from the Lord, through His Word. Open your spirit to the Word. Meditate on the Holy Scriptures; that way, the Word will mingle with your spirit, giving you light. If the Word of God doesn’t enter into you, there’ll be no light in your spirit. Those who don’t have accurate knowledge of the Word of God can only plunge themselves into perpetual darkness.

The Bible describes the Word as “…the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world” (John 1:9). Without the Word of God, your decisions will be made in darkness, and the decisions that are made in darkness can only produce more darkness, making the person’s life a labyrinth of uncertainties, confusion, and utter frustration.

God has given you His Word to light up your path, and have light through the darkness. Jesus said, “…I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life” (John 8:12). Under that light, you don’t see shadows. Poverty, sickness, disease, death, failure or impossibilities are shadows; they don’t exist under the light of God.

PRAYER

The Word of God is in my heart; therefore, my heart is flooded with light; my path is continually lit. I walk in preordained pathways; therefore, none of my steps shall slide, neither do I walk in confusion, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Further Study:

Proverbs 20:27 The spirit of man [is] the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.

Matthew 6:22-23 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. 23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great [is] that darkness!

1 John 1:5-7 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Quote:A 30 -year – old businessman, Obinna Otigba, who allegedly stole his neighbour’s two Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) cards and withdrew N2 million from her accounts, on Thursday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

The accused was arraigned before Magistrate O.J. Awope on a two-count charge of stealing and illegal conversion of property for personal use.

Otigba , who resides at Ojokoro area of Lagos, however, pleaded not guilty, and was admitted to N500,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

Awope said that the sureties should be gainfully employed and show evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

The prosecutor, ASP Ezekiel Ayorinde, said that the accused committed the offences from Nov. 17, 2017 to Nov. 28, 2017 at his residence.

He said that the accused stole the ATM cards from Mrs Theresa Ajibade and absconded to an unknown destination.

“The accused who lived in the same house with the complainant, stole her ATM cards and took to his heels,” the prosecutor submitted.

Ayorinde said that the accused withdrew the N2 million from Ajibade’s two bank accounts.

“The accused withdrew N2 million from the complainant’s pension account and investment account, thereby emptying the accounts,” he said.

The prosecutor said one of the cards was recovered from the accused while he claimed to have misplaced the other.

He submitted that the offences contravened Sections 280 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (revised).

Photo Of The Housemaid Who Beat Her Boss To Coma In Lagos
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 03-08-2018, 07:56 PM - No Replies

Few hours ago, Naija Cover Website brought you reports of a housemaid, identified simply as Samson who beat her boss to coma in Lagos, after stealing her money and property.

Well, the young woman – the housemaid who beat her boss to coma has now been identified as Susan Samson – an indigene of Cross River State.

Ok, so just in case you missed it, Doctors at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, are battling to save the life of a civil servant in the state, identified only as Mistura, after she was allegedly attacked by her maid in the Ejigbo area.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Mistura had been in a coma since Monday, March 5, 2018, when she was attacked with blended pepper and a wine bottle by the maid, identified as Susan Samson.

Our correspondent was told that despite a three-hour surgery on Wednesday, the victim had yet to come round and was in the intensive care unit of LASUTH.

It was learnt that Mistura, who taught in a public secondary school in Lagos, had employed Samson on February 4, 2018 to assist her with domestic chores.

The 18-year-old suspect was reported to have stolen her boss’ money last Friday and Saturday.

After the stolen money was recovered from Samson’s bag, Mistura was said to have alerted the agent who brought her.

The Ogoja, Cross River State indigene, in a desperate bid to escape from the house, which Mistura had locked, allegedly poured blended pepper on the boss while she lay on the bed.

She then grabbed a champagne bottle and smashed it on the victim’s head repeatedly until she passed out.

The suspect was reportedly apprehended by residents who heard the victim’s scream for help.

PUNCH Metro was told that the suspect was handed over to policemen from the Ejigbo division.

The victim’s husband, who identified himself only as Alhaji Sikiru, said he had gone to work when the incident happened.

He said, “An agent brought her to my wife on February 4, 2018. The girl said although she was from Ogoja, Cross River State, she had her primary and secondary education in Ikorodu, Lagos State, where she had lived the better part of her life.

“I had gone to work around 6am on Monday when my wife was attacked. But when I was called, I went to make a statement at the Ejigbo Police Station where the girl was being detained. That was where she told me everything that happened.

“She said last Friday, my wife accused her of stealing some money. Again on Saturday, there was an allegation she stole another money. I was surprised because my wife did not tell me that the maid she employed was stealing her things.

“After I left the house on Monday, my wife asked her to buy balm for her down the street. While she was away, my wife went to her room and found the stolen money in her bag, including some other items which she (Samson) stole from her shop.

“My wife called the agent that brought her and asked him to come over to the house. The agent immediately called the girl to know what happened. The girl said she didn’t know why she (Mistura) called him.

“At this time, she had become suspicious. So, when she got back to the house, she went to her bag and discovered that the stolen money and other items had been recovered by my wife.”

He said Mistura, while awaiting the agent, locked up the two gates in the house and kept the keys.

She was said to have lain on the bed.

“When the girl saw that her secret was about to be exposed, she wanted to escape. On discovering that the pedestrian and drive gates had been locked, she became desperate.

“She went to the kitchen, took a bowl of blended pepper, and poured it on my wife on the bed. My wife could not see again, but she groped to the main gate. She started calling for help because she could not also open the gate.

“The girl went inside the house and found a bottle of champagne, which I had kept for an occasion. She smashed it on my wife’s head five times. And she collapsed.

“Some residents, who had gathered outside the gate after hearing my wife’s call for help, caught her as she tried to escape. They also found my wife in a pool of blood and rushed her to a hospital,” he added.

He noted that during a visit of the police to the house, they found more stolen items in the suspect’s room.

Alhaji Sikiru, while expressing fear over the condition of his wife, said he hoped she would make it out alive.

“She lost a lot of blood and I had to get six pints of blood yesterday (Tuesday). Because her blood level was low, the doctors gave her four pints so she could go through a surgery which started from 1am and ended around 4.30am on Wednesday. The surgery didn’t bring out anything. She is still in a coma.

“My wife is in the intensive care unit of LASUTH. Her brain has collapsed and has been removed from the body and kept somewhere. Her kidney is already packing up. I hope she makes it out alive,” he added.

A source told PUNCH Metro that the couple had a disagreement late 2017 over the issue of getting a maid as the husband was against the idea.

The source said the dispute was so intense that some relatives had to wade in.

“The woman has high blood pressure and her personal doctor told the husband in January that the woman’s BP was still high but she said she would be better if he allowed her to have a maid. That was when the man succumbed. But see what it has caused,” she said.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chike Oti, said it was a case of attempted murder.

He said, “The said Susan Samson suspected that her boss had discovered some items she stole and hid in her room. She subsequently mixed a large quantity of pepper in water and poured it on the woman’s face to render her defenceless.

“She subsequently hit her head repeatedly with a big bottle of wine which grievously harmed the woman. The state Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, has decried this act wickedness and ordered a thorough investigation and diligent prosecution of the case.”

The Chief Medical Director of LASUTH, Professor Wale Oke, said the victim was receiving treatment at the hospital.

He said, “She had a surgery yesterday, which was successful. She is, however, not out of the woods yet. She is still in a coma. We have to wait for the brain to heal from the injuries.”

"Yahaya Bello Is Little Hitler" - Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 03-08-2018, 04:29 PM - No Replies

Moment Senators called Governor little Hitler, threat to democracy

Senators blast Governor Yahaya Bello over alleged attacks on some ‘perceived political enemies’ in the state.

Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello (TheCable)
Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state came under heavy backlash on the floor of the Senate on Wednesday, March 7, 2018.
Trouble started when Senator Ahmed Ogembe raised an alarm over alleged attack him and members of his constituents during an empowerment programme in his constituency, Kogi Central.

[Image: 28577388_562248340820002_456075650409794...60x330.jpg]

Speaking at Plenary, Ogembe alleged that hoodlums and miscreants had disrupted his empowerment programme.

The lawmaker accused the Area Commander of Okene Division and Divisional Police Officer of Okene and Adavi, of withdrawing officers from the venue.

It was at this moment that lawmakers went berserk.

First was Abia lawmaker, Enyinnaya Abaribe.

‘Yahaya Bello behaves like a little Hitler’

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe (Ripples Nigeria)
Describing the situation in Kogi as disturbing, Abaribe expressed worry that things may get worse if governors like Bello gain control over the Police in their states.

The Senator described Governor Bello’s rule in Kogi state as bad example of youths in leadership.

He also took President Muhammadu Buhari to the cleaners.

“Why would a member of this Hallowed Chamber not be left to do what he has to do for his constituents? It may be him today but it will be another person tomorrow,” Abaribe said.

“That means if the governor doesn’t like what you are doing, he will send the Police after you. How can we live in this country and have an avowed war hero who told us that ‘once I step into office, I will take care of security’? Yet, things are worse than ever.

“We shouldn’t put this under the table. It was Dino, now Ogembe. Tomorrow it may be Aidoko, all in the same Kogi state.

“People have been running around and saying that we need youths in government. The man in Kogi is a youth but how come this youth does not know what he is doing? There is so much insecurity in this particular place.

Governor Yahaya Bello has assured President Buhari of more votes from Kogi state in 2019. (Facebook)
“That does not give credence that this country should be handed over to a youth. If we hand over this country to him, what will now happen? This country will be thrown to the dogs. It is not youth but the ideas that you have.

“I want you to even go for that his seat because if that is what is making him feel so big, let someone else challenge him. We cannot continue this way where Senators will be afraid to go home because somebody is sitting down there, deciding that he will be a little Hitler,” Abaribe said.

“Yahaya Bello is a threat to Nigeria’s democracy’
Contributing to the motion, deputy Senate leader, Bala Na’Allah described Governor Benno as a threat to Nigeria’s democracy.

“Yesterday it was Dino, some people are saying it’s because Dino is creating problem, what problem is Ogembe creating? The issue of Kogi is a very serious matter.

“From what I have been reading, I have tried to restrain myself from commenting but it appears we can validly say that the Governor of Kogi is a threat to our democracy,” Na’Allah said.

‘Bello sent Kogi SARS after me’
Describing Bello as ‘Kogi’s coroneted governor’, Senator Dino Melaye said fierce-looking operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) were at the court to arrest him after he was granted bail.

“I will recap shortly what I went through in the hands of the coroneted governor of Kogi state. On March 1, I was arraigned by the party I worked for and the government I helped to install. I appeared before the court where the federal government insisted they are vehemently opposing my bail for a concocted minor offence.

“Haven’t been granted bail. I was quickly alerted that they were over one hundred Policemen from SARS that they were outside the court waiting to arrest me. I was wondering that it was untrue but it was confirmed that fierce-looking men carrying arms and ammunitions with SARS written on their caps and vests. Some of them masked.

“Even if you were going for the head of Shekau, you wouldn’t have you wouldn’t have prepared any better. I was in that court for hours and they laid siege for hours. Every car coming in and out of the court were being checked. Somehow because I serve a living God, the angels of the Lord took me out of that court unnoticed and unhurt. They laid siege for more than five hours after I was resting on my bed,” Melaye said.

The lawmaker questioned the move to arrest him without prior notification sent to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

‘Yahaya Bello will not win re-election if…’
Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, while recounting his experience, said Governor Bello may lose his seat if he ‘continues with his antics’.

“You will recall that sometime last year when they wanted to recall Dino I advised the governor that they are wasting the resources of that state, that it is mission impossible.

“They took three pages in the newspaper abusing me. Are we still hearing the recall today? Money has been wasted. Money that has been used to pay salaries of people in Kogi state was used to mobilise people to recall senator Dino yet those people have not been paid and Dino is still here.

“Today, I am advising the governor again, that road he is travelling will not lead him to anywhere. Ultimately, these people he is seeing here will be back here and he will leave office. If he doesn’t stop, there is no how he will come back in 2019, never. No. He will not.

“God will show him that he is a God of justice and this is a message to all those people who have caused all kinds of problem in Nigeria at different level.

“The problem in Nigeria is that our democracy is receding. Who says army cannot take over, let us not joke with our democracy, that is the issue.

“The house of a senator was destroyed in Kaduna state. We are talking about Kwankwaso who was stopped from going to his state where he ruled for eight years. In Kaduna, Shehu Sani cannot organise a meeting and we are talking about a democracy? The international community needs to know this because they helped us install democracy.

“Nigeria is losing its position in the comity of nations where are now a second class nation not just in Africa but in West Africa that we are supposed to be controlling. We are losing in every dimension. The only institution to save our democracy is this national assembly. No matter the oppression, men will do what they want to do but God has the final say,” Ekweremadu said.

Senate President expressed concerns over the actions of some state governors in the country.

“It is not rarely about Kogi state, it is clear that Kogi is becoming the point where there is a threat to our democracy. This is not what democracy is all about. For the role we play in comity of nations we need to be good examples to other parts of the world.

“These kind of actions are unacceptable, it starts with one state – many of us have been privilege to be governors and we are almost 20 years in democracy, this is not the democracy that we should be talking about. We saw the case in Kaduna state, how a governor would go and bulldoze a house, in Nigeria? At this time and we are all still keeping quiet. These are things we must condemn totally,” the Senate president added.

Resolutions

The Senate resolved to send an adhoc committee to investigate the disruption of the empowerment programme by Senator Ogembe in his constituency.

Senator Obinna Ogba Accuses Abdullahi Adamu Of Plot To Remove Saraki
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 03-08-2018, 04:15 PM - No Replies

Quote:by Dyepkazah Shibayan

Obinna Ogba, senator representing Ebonyi central, says he has evidence of an alleged plan by Abdullahi Adamu, senator representing Nasarawa west, against Senate President Bukola Saraki.

Adamu is one of the senator’s who kicked against the amended election timetable for 2019.
He was later removed as chairman of the northern senators’ forum after being accused “financial mismanagement and maladministration”.

Speaking on the floor of the senate on Thursday, Ogba said he has a transcript of Adamu speaking with other people about his plans.
The Ebonyi lawmaker said when Isah Misau, senator representing Bauchi central, raised the matter earlier, it was not taken seriously.

“I rise this morning to bring to the notice of the senate that there is a plan by some people in this senate, maybe under the leadership of my distinguished colleague, particularly senator Abdullahi Adamu.

Mr. President, you remember in January, distinguished senator Misau made a comment here that there was a plan to remove the Senate President and in fact the leadership,” he said.

There is a telephone conversation going on which any other person can also print it out, between senator Abdullahi Adamu and some other people.”

After laying his evidence, Ike Ekeweremadu, deputy senate president, said anyone planning to destabilise the country “is not doing us good”.

“The difference between military, autocratic regime and any other oppressive regime is the parliament. Once we remove the parliament, there is going to be problem. In whatever we do, we must continue to preserve the sanctity of the parliament,” Ekeweremadu said.

UK Government To Build Prison In Nigeria To Transfer Prisoners From Britain

Ministers have drawn up plans to build a prison in Nigeria to enable the government to transfer prisoners from Britain.

The proposed 112-bed wing, built to United Nations specifications in the Kiri Kiri prison in Lagos, is to be built as part of a compulsory prisoner transfer agreement.

It will cost just under £700,000, according to a statement submitted to Parliament by Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson on Wednesday evening.
"As part of this agreement, eligible prisoners serving criminal sentences in Nigeria and the UK can be returned to complete their sentences in their respective countries," Mr Johnson said.

It follows a deal reached between the two countries signed in 2014.
But poor conditions in some prisons overseas have created a legal barrier to returning foreigners convicted in the UK.
"The Government believes that wherever possible foreign nationals should serve their sentences in their own country," a Foreign Office spokesperson told Sky News.

"Helping Nigeria to improve its prison conditions and increase prison capacity will enable us to transfer more prisoners to Nigeria, which will in turn free up prison places in the UK."

Deals to transfer prisoners in UK jails to their countries of origin have been made with Albania, Rwanda, Jamaica and Libya, and well as Nigeria.
In 2015 the Government pitched an ambitious £25m project to build a 1,500 bed prison in Jamaica, with the aim of sending more than 300 Jamaican inmates with sentences of more than four years there.

But the Jamaican government rejected the deal, with local media quoting ministers as saying the offer was not beneficial to Jamaica and did not cover the prison's full cost.

Mr Johnson said tenders for the planned Nigerian jail had been placed and suppliers identified, bringing the project's total cost to £695,525 including support, monitoring and evaluation.

The bill will be met by the CSSF (Conflict, Stability and Security Fund), he said.
According to House of Commons statistics there were 320 Nigerian nationals in prisons in England and Wales at the end of 2016.

Foreign nationals make up about 12% of the prison population compared to about 9% of the general population.

The annual overall cost of a prison place in England and Wales is about £38,000, according to the Ministry of Justice.

Man Strips Unclad On Plane, Watches Porn & Then Attacks Air Hostess In Malaysia PHOTO

Quote:A BANGLADESHI passenger who reportedly stripped Unclad and attacked a stewardess during a flight from Malaysia has been arrested, the airline said overnight.

Shortly after the Malindo Air flight departed from Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, the 20-year-old took his clothes off and started watching pornography on his laptop, local media reported.

The man, a student at a Malaysian university, initially put his clothes back on at the request of cabin crew, the New Straits Times newspaper reported.

But he then tried to hug female crew members, and when his advances were rejected he became aggressive and attacked a stewardess, the paper said.

The cabin crew and passengers reportedly managed to subdue him and his hands were tied up with a piece of cloth for the rest of the flight.

There was no indication as to why he was acting strangely.

The airline, a Malaysian subsidiary of an Indonesian company, declined to confirm all the details but said in a statement that a “disruptive passenger” was tied up on the flight to Dhaka, and was arrested on arrival.

It explained: ‘The crew on board has followed the standard operating procedure in restraining the passenger from causing further disruption on-board the flight.

“The disruptive passenger was accompanied by Dhaka security team upon arrival and he has been put to jail by the authorities there.

“The airline will continue to stay vigilant to ensure passengers travel soundly.”

The Sun Daily, meanwhile, quoted a man claiming to be a passenger on the plane.

He explained that the Bangladeshi man stripped Unclad and watched porn while “ignoring all those around him”.

“The cabin crew approached him and politely asked him to put on his clothes,” he added.

“He complied with their request. A short while later there was some commotion at the toilet area and it turned out that he was harassing a stewardess.”

Housemaid Beats Boss Into Coma In Lagos, Steals Money, Property
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories

Quote:Samson Folarin

Doctors at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital , Ikeja , are battling to save the life of a civil servant in the state , identified only as Mistura, after she was allegedly attacked by her maid in the Ejigbo area .

PUNCH Metro learnt that Mistura had been in a coma since Monday , March 5 , 2018, when she was attacked with blended pepper and a wine bottle by the maid, identified as Susan Samson .

Our correspondent was told that despite a three - hour surgery on Wednesday , the victim had yet to come round and was in the intensive care unit of LASUTH .

It was learnt that Mistura, who taught in a public secondary school in Lagos , had employed Samson on February 4 , 2018 to assist her with domestic chores .

The 18- year - old suspect was reported to have stolen her boss ’ money last Friday and Saturday .

After the stolen money was recovered from Samson ’ s bag , Mistura was said to have alerted the agent who brought her .

The Ogoja , Cross River State indigene , in a desperate bid to escape from the house , which Mistura had locked , allegedly poured blended pepper on the boss while she lay on the bed .

She then grabbed a champagne bottle and smashed it on the victim ’ s head repeatedly until she passed out .

The suspect was reportedly apprehended by residents who heard the victim ’ s scream for help .

PUNCH Metro was told that the suspect was handed over to policemen from the Ejigbo division.

The victim ’ s husband, who identified himself only as Alhaji Sikiru , said he had gone to work when the incident happened .

He said , “ An agent brought her to my wife on February 4 , 2018 . The girl said although she was from Ogoja, Cross River State , she had her primary and secondary education in Ikorodu , Lagos State, where she had lived the better part of her life .

“ I had gone to work around 6 am on Monday when my wife was attacked . But when I was called , I went to make a statement at the Ejigbo Police Station where the girl was being detained . That was where she told me everything that happened .

“ She said last Friday, my wife accused her of stealing some money . Again on Saturday , there was an allegation she stole another money. I was surprised because my wife did not tell me that the maid she employed was stealing her things.

“ After I left the house on Monday , my wife asked her to buy balm for her down the street . While she was away , my wife went to her room and found the stolen money in her bag , including some other items which she (Samson ) stole from her shop .

“ My wife called the agent that brought her and asked him to come over to the house . The agent immediately called the girl to know what happened . The girl said she didn’ t know why she (Mistura ) called him .

“ At this time , she had become suspicious . So , when she got back to the house , she went to her bag and discovered that the stolen money and other items had been recovered by my wife . ”

He said Mistura , while awaiting the agent , locked up the two gates in the house and kept the keys .

She was said to have lain on the bed.
“ When the girl saw that her secret was about to be exposed , she wanted to escape. On discovering that the pedestrian and drive gates had been locked , she became desperate .

“ She went to the kitchen, took a bowl of blended pepper , and poured it on my wife on the bed. My wife could not see again , but she groped to the main gate. She started calling for help because she could not also open the gate .

“ The girl went inside the house and found a bottle of champagne , which I had kept for an occasion . She smashed it on my wife ’ s head five times. And she collapsed .

“ Some residents , who had gathered outside the gate after hearing my wife ’ s call for help , caught her as she tried to escape. They also found my wife in a pool of blood and rushed her to a hospital , ” he added .

He noted that during a visit of the police to the house , they found more stolen items in the suspect’ s room.

Alhaji Sikiru , while expressing fear over the condition of his wife , said he hoped she would make it out alive .

“ She lost a lot of blood and I had to get six pints of blood yesterday (Tuesday).

Because her blood level was low, the doctors gave her four pints so she could go through a surgery which started from 1 am and ended around 4 . 30 am on Wednesday. The surgery didn’ t bring out anything . She is still in a coma .

“ My wife is in the intensive care unit of LASUTH . Her brain has collapsed and has been removed from the body and kept somewhere . Her kidney is already packing up . I hope she makes it out alive , ” he added .

A source told PUNCH Metro that the couple had a disagreement late 2017 over the issue of getting a maid as the husband was against the idea .

The source said the dispute was so intense that some relatives had to wade in.

“ The woman has high blood pressure and her personal doctor told the husband in January that the woman’ s BP was still high but she said she would be better if he allowed her to have a maid. That was when the man succumbed . But see what it has caused , ” she said .

The state Police Public Relations Officer , SP Chike Oti , said it was a case of attempted murder.

He said , “ The said Susan Samson suspected that her boss had discovered some items she stole and hid in her room. She subsequently mixed a large quantity of pepper in water and poured it on the woman’ s face to render her defenceless .

“ She subsequently hit her head repeatedly with a big bottle of wine which grievously harmed the woman. The state Commissioner of Police , Edgal Imohimi , has decried this act wickedness and ordered a thorough investigation and diligent prosecution of the case . ”

The Chief Medical Director of LASUTH , Professor Wale Oke , said the victim was receiving treatment at the hospital .

He said , “ She had a surgery yesterday , which was successful . She is, however, not out of the woods yet . She is still in a coma . We have to wait for the brain to heal from the injuries. ”

Zambian School Boy Trapped In A Tree Cleft While Playing
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories

A boy who attends one of the rural primary/community schools in Luapula Province of Zambia, has been trapped in a tree cleft while he was playing.

A Facebook user identified as Andrew Mwansa, who posted the incident, wrote;

Wonders Shall Never End!!!

According to a wats app message, the boy belongs to one of the rural primary/community schools in Luapula Province. A school boy was trapped in a tree cleft whilst playing. The old men have long been advising the children not to play around the feared tree but as usual, children disobeyed the order. The villagers have long believed that the tree is spiritual and has resisted uprooting for many years. Efforts by community school trs to rescue the boy failed as the more they tried to pull him out, the more squeezed he was getting until the grey haired old men and women went there to plead with the spirits of the tree to free the boy as he was innocent. After a black chicken sacrifice, the tree freed the little boy and he was back in class learning happily. Surprisingly, he was found without a scratch.

Benue Killings: Enough Of This War, Life Is Sacred — David Mark
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 03-08-2018, 02:49 PM - No Replies

ABUJA—FORMER Senate President, Senator David Mark, has pleaded that enough of the killings in Benue State and other parts of the country against the backdrop that life is sacred.

In a statement, yesterday, by his Media Assistant, Paul Mumeh, Mark described as sad and frustrating, the unabating killings in parts of Benue State despite repeated peace moves between the indigenes and the herdsmen in the state.

Only on Monday, about 26 indigenes of Omusu community in Okpokwu Local Government Area of the state were murdered in cold blood by assailants believed to be herdsmen.

Mark [/b]in a reaction to the incident condemned the unwarranted killings of innocent citizens, pointing out that the crisis was degenerating to something akin to “war without end,” defying all peaceful approaches.

He said: “I’m aware of various peace initiatives over the incessant clashes resulting to loss of lives and property. That the killings continue unabated is something beyond the ordinary.

“Let me once again appealed to the assailants to sheathe their swords and allow peace to reign. Whichever side of the divide and whatever vocation you are engaged in, no progress can be made in a crisis-ridden environment.”

Mark who bemoaned the degenerating cases of insecurity in the land, said, “From abduction of innocent school girls in Dapchi, numerous cases of kidnapping to outright terrorism against unsuspecting citizens, the situation is frustrating.

“We must all make concerted efforts to achieve peace in our communities. Our security agencies should rise up to the challenges and protect lives and property. Life is sacred and we must not take it for granted.”

False Asset Declaration: Saraki’s Trial At CCT Adjourned Indefinitely
User Avatar Forum: Politics

Quote:THE False Assets declaration trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki has been adjourned indefinitely.

This was the ruling of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, on Thursdays, March 8, as a result of a letter from the Saraki dated January 19, 2018, seeking a stay in the criminal proceedings due to two appeals pending before the Supreme Court.

The defendant is being tried on three of the 18-count charge of false assets declaration filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Danladi Umar, CCT chairman, at the resumed hearing, today, said going by sections 305 and 306 of the administration of criminal justice act, an appeal does not mean stay in proceedings “but in view of the fact that there are some issues in the appeal before the supreme court which are involved in this case, we think it is germane to consider the integrity of the apex court.”

Though the stay of proceedings was kicked against by the prosecuting counsel to the federal government, Rotimi Jacobs, Saraki’s counsel, Kanu Agabi, urged the court to adjourn.

The tribunal subsequently suspended the case indefinitely pending the decision of the supreme court.
