311 Not The Highest Jamb 2018 Score; A Blogger Scored 337
User Avatar Forum: Education
Posted by: Edoman - 03-18-2018, 04:43 PM - No Replies

Is it true that the highest score so far in Jamb 2018 is 311? This is the topic we shall discuss today.

It is true that dailypost, naija.ng, puch, vanguared and other news websites have been parading Aliyu as the candidate with the highest Jamb score so far. This is absolute lie. I am bold to tell you that there is a student who scored 337 in Jamb 2018. It is also possible that there are candidates with even higher Jamb score.

Saheed, who is a blogger and student of Flashlearners scored higher than Aliyu which have been reported to have score 311 in Jamb. Funny enough, Saheed was among the first set of students whose Jamb results were released.

Saheed Soneye, who is from Ogun State score 337 in Jamb 2018. You can check out his Jamb slip below or visit Jamb portal to confirm his score.

It is very possible for some candidates to score more than this. If you have seen a higher score around, please share so that the truth can stand.

9 Sad Reasons People Stay In Jobs They Don’t Like
User Avatar Forum: Jobs/Vacancies
Posted by: Edoman - 03-18-2018, 01:41 PM - No Replies

1. Because risk terrifies them.

It’s a risk to go somewhere else — “What if it’s even worse?” It’s a risk to try something new. It’s a risk to leave wherever you are and go somewhere else.

2. Because learning something new is hard.
It’s so sad and yet so true.
Most people don’t leave their jobs simply because the thought of having to learn a new process, a new skill set, a new anything is terrifying and exhausting to them.
What a sad way to live.

3. Because they love “the golden handcuffs.”

One of the greatest double-edged swords of high paying corporate America is what’s called “living with golden handcuffs.”
Your salary is so good, your benefits are so good, your retirement plan is so good, everything is so good that you’re willing to sit in a cubicle hating your life for 8 hours a day simply because, on paper, you’re “living the life.”

4. Because they secretly love to complain.

Another sad truth, but some people love to be miserable.
They find enjoyment in showing up to work and uttering the phrase, “I hate Mondays.” They have learned to love their misery — and as much as they talk about leaving, they never will.

5. Because it would disappoint their parents
.

Some of the most talented people end up working jobs they despise simply because they don’t want to disappoint their parents. Or their family. Or their friends. Or anyone else.
So who are you living for, then? Them?

6. Because they’ve overextended themselves.

It’s amazing how much people prioritize having “things” before they have established the lifestyle they want.
They get a job they don’t love, but pays pretty well, and before they know it they’ve got an expensive car payment, high rent, and an expensive lifestyle from which they can’t escape. They want to do something else, but by now they’ve accumulated too much overhead.
And a shift in lifestyle is unthinkable to them.

7. Because they like their “title.”

These people stay with their undesirable job simply because of the title they have.
They would rather be the Vice President of Boring than be seen as someone who is “trying to make their dreams happen.” Because that road is harder, and isn’t about titles at all — and for a lot of people, that’s too much for their ego to bear.

8. Because they have responsibilities now.

They have a wife, three kids, a mortgage, college funds to save for, etc.
By now in their career, they can’t make the move to something else. They’ve crossed the threshold and have decided, “You know what, this is where I am, and that’s that.”
They’re comfortable, and so they stay.

9. Because they fear being wrong.
Or worse, they fear rejection

They care a lot about what people think of them, and the thought of trying to do something unconventional or different they enjoy, and failing, is what keeps them from ever trying in the first place.

You Are Legally Dead And Will Remain Dead, Court Tells Man (photo)

A Romanian court has upheld a death notice against a man despite him being alive and present in the court at the time. .

The decision by judges in the eastern Romanian town of Barlad left Constantin Reliu, 63, legally dead despite him showing all the vital signs of life.

“My name is Constantin Reliu. I am dead but I’m still alive,” he said as he left the court. “I have no source of income, and because of the fact that I am dead I cannot hire a lawyer. In fact I can’t do anything in this country.” .

Reliu left Romania in 1992 to work in Turkey, where he settled down. His wife, having heard nothing from him for years, applied successfully for a death notice in 2016. .

Her husband first became aware of his death when he tried to return to Romania in January, after the Turkish authorities expelled him because his papers had expired. .

“The head of the border police at the airport called me to his office, turned on his computer and showed it to me. ‘Look,’ he said. ‘Constantin Reliu declared dead by his wife’,” Reliu told Digi24, a Romanian news network. .
.
He appealed to the Barlad court to overturn his death notice. “The length of time that the defendant had not contacted his family, but also the fact that he last entered from Turkey was on July 8 1999 made credible the claim by the spouse of Constantin Reliu that he had died in unknown circumstances,” the court said as it dismissed his appeal

He, however, vowed that no man born of a woman could stop his ambition, saying that God remained the ultimate decider of anyone’s future.” the statement read Okorocha is rumored to be pulling his strings to kick Madumere out of office and frustrate his ambition.

Buhari, It's Time To Go - By Emmanuel Ogundele
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 03-18-2018, 01:19 PM - No Replies

Quote:For those who have watched the direction of President Muhammadu Buhari and his administration for well over two years now, there is no doubting the fact that we have made a wrong choice. Not that there was anything to choose from between a weakling called Goodluck Jonathan who allowed free stealing to go on in his government unabated and, at that time, a serial loser at presidential elections since 1999 called Muhammadu Buhari.

However, little did we know then that it was a choice between a present disaster and a would-be tragic figure. The facts don’t come out in good time and so people were quick to paint a future devil in a Saint’s colour. While the drive to choose anybody but Jonathan among the political elite which eventually percolated down to the people, was so pressing at that time, it was not a well-thought out choice. For while Nigerians act as if they operate a two-party system, we actually run a multi-party democracy.

To blind our eyes to the true state of things and elect an uninformed and acutely incompetent president is a dent on our political judgment and general intelligence. Truly we got rid of Jonathan and look at what we have. I am not sure that when Nigerians were going to the polls they had bargained for what they have at the moment: a highly nepotistic leader, insensitively religious and deeply incompetent person. We have today sitting as president of this country, the worst we have ever had, one who has beaten all records in terms of poor governance.

Many have argued that Buhari was voted for because in his first coming as military head of state in conjunction with the late Tunde Idiagbon, ran a fairly credible government even though it was an authoritarian regime. What was however hidden from many at that time was that Idiagbon was the engine room of that government because of the quality of his grey matter. Buhari was more of a ceremonial head of state. Our seeking to please the Fulani power elite as a collective has not helped us at all as a country. Now that Idiagbon is no longer available and even though Osinbajo is vice president, he is only there at the pleasure of the president. I believe that Osinbajo is more competent that Buhari, but the 1999 constitution weigh very heavily on the side of the President to the utter disadvantage of the vice president. What it means is that what Buhari did not do in his first coming, he has now come to do during his second coming: total dominance.

This nation has never been this divided and never has anyone governed Nigeria with total disregard for the principle of Federal Character like Buhari. He behaves very much like an ethnic purist as if Nigeria is meant for a particular race alone. As former President Obasanjo has said, Buhari is lacking in the requisite knowledge of the internal dynamics of this country. We therefore have as president a different person from the one that was elected. Truth be told then, Buhari was elected in error. As a country, we have to live with the grave error till 2019 and at a great price.

The reinstatement of the ex-executive secretary of the NHIS, Professor Yusuf is clear statement of Buhari’s blindness to competence, integrity and decency. This is not the first time. Maina was reinstated with the full knowledge and approval of the president. I am almost sure he would have reinstated the ex-DG of Securities and Exchange Commission if not because of the wrong signal it would send to foreign investors. What is clear from the running of the Buhari administration is that “there are different strokes for different folks”. An ethnic chauvinist like him cannot see anything wrong with someone from his own ethnic group stealing anything. After all, “it is their time” having been out of power for so long.

We have heard how much Yusuf was boasting that the Minister for Health who is Yoruba is helpless against him as he would soon be reinstated by the president.

This is what we witnessing. If I were the Minister for health, I will tender my letter of resignation immediately. I always think this would not happen because people have compromised themselves. To steal 919 Million Naira from this agency and regard it as nothing is a proof of how corrupt Buhari and his government is and this is part of why we have dropped on the corruption perception index of Transparency International. While you can fool people locally, you cannot fool the world.

What has landed us where we are today is our uncritical admiration of yesterday’s men. We shall continue to pay a high price for this until we have the uncommon wisdom to look for a truly Pan-Nigerian leader within some of the marginal parties and vote for such candidate and not his party. This is the only way our democracy can succeed and make a meaningful impact on the lives of our people. Otherwise, it is better to have a referendum as to whether we should go our separate ways which I believe is the best option for us. I have often wondered if Nigeria will ever live up to its dreams so long as we remain only on the optics a united country though a highly and bitterly divided one. With killings all over the land and poverty increasing through every length and breadth of this country, if I were Buhari, I will leave the rest of my presidential tenure for Osinbajo to complete. This is what he should do if he were a true patriot. Time is not on the side of Buhari to do what is right. But Nigeria itself is on its last lap.

  Olurunnimbe Mamora Rejects Buhari's Appointment
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 03-18-2018, 01:16 PM - No Replies

A former lawmaker, Senator Olurunnimbe Mamora, has rejected his appointment as the Chairman of the Abuja Investment and Infrastructure Centre, SUNDAY PUNCH learnt on Saturday.

Mamora, who was the Deputy Director-General of the Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation during the 2015 presidential election, was nominated for the job by the President.

However, it was learnt that during the inauguration of the board of the AIIC a few weeks ago, a governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in the 2016 Ondo State governorship election, Mrs. Jumoke Ajasin-Anifowoshe, was named the chairman.

Ajasin-Anifowose, who is the daughter of the first Governor of the old Ondo State, Adekunle Ajasin, was sworn in by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Alhaji Muhammad Bello.

Investigations by our correspondent showed that the ex-lawmaker rejected the appointment.

A reliable source told our correspondent that Mamora had met with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, and expressed his displeasure with the appointment.

The source said Mamora, a former Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker and senator who represented Lagos-East senatorial district from 2003 to 2011, felt the appointment, which is the equivalent of a state parastatal, was not befitting.

He argued that people who never participated in the process that brought Buhari to power were occupying the front seats of government.

The source added that Mamora was listed to be the Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Ports Authority in 2016 but was edged out by some powerful people in the system.

The source added that Mamora was also nominated as an ambassador in late 2016 but his name was suddenly withdrawn for unknown reasons and was not even contacted before his name was dropped.

Attempts to speak with Mamora proved abortive as repeated calls to his phone were not responded to while a text message sent to his mobile was not replied to as of press time.

Morning Devotional For Sunday 18th March

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SUNDAY, 18TH MARCH.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨ YOU HAVE A ROLE TO PLAY ✨

In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem (Daniel 9:2).

The Bible tells us that Daniel understood by the books of Jeremiah, the Prophet, the timing of Israel’s deliverance. He discovered that the set time to favour Israel had come, but he also knew he had a role to play in bringing God’s desire to reality. Thus, he began to pray. He said, “…I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes: And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession…” (Daniel 9:3-4).

This shows that just because God has planned something doesn’t mean it’ll come to pass; you have to know and play your part. There’re people who say, “If God has planned it, it’ll happen. If it’s the will of God, it’ll come to pass.” Such people are ignorant of God’s Word and His ways of doing things. Always, there’s a God-ward part, and there’s a man-ward part. The Bible says He’s given the earth to the children of men to run (Psalm 115:16).

What God does is to show you His plan, to show you His will. As you study the Word, you learn about His will, and find out about His principles, and how the Kingdom functions. Then you make His will come to pass by applying those principles, and walking in His Word. You must know the Word of God for yourself, and put it to work for yourself. You must be a doer of the Word; that’s where your blessing is (James 1:25).

Joshua 1:8 and Psalm 1:1-3 further explain the life of undeniable success, persistent and consistent fruitfulness, and productivity of the one who’s sold out to the Word; the one who meditates on the Word day and night, walking in the light of it, prospers. Glory to God!

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for the presence of your Spirit in me, who has given me supernatural knowledge and insight to the glorious realities in your Word, and granted me the ability to fulfil your perfect will! I walk in your righteousness, pleasing you in all things, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:
Hebrews 13:5-6 [Let your] conversation [be] without covetousness; [and be] content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord [is] my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

1 Corinthians 2:12-13 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

Zimbabwe’s Miss Albino beauty pageant, winner gets $85

Mutukura won a food hamper and US$85 (70 euros) – a fair bit of money in Zimbabwe.
22-year-old Sithembiso Mutukura beat 12 other contestants in Zimbabwe’s first Miss Albino beauty contest, which aims to reduce stigma and increase awareness of the condition.
Friday’s “Beauty Beyond the Skin” pageant was held in a Harare nightclub, making Zimbabwe the second African country after Kenya to host such an event.

[Image: Zimbabwes-Miss-Albino-beauty-pageant-win...10x410.jpg]

Many African countries have an uncomfortable relationship with albinism – a genetic disorder inherited from parents who both carry a faulty gene that prevents the skin from making melanin properly and thereby giving it colour.
Albinos are hunted and killed by witch doctors in some African countries, with their body parts then being used in potions to bring good luck or riches. Some are even kidnapped and sold by relatives out to make a fast buck.

Mutukura, a social work student at the University of Zimbabwe, said she entered the pageant to raise awareness.

The people with disabilities are always looked down upon even in schools. I have gone through a lot but I want people living with albinism to be brave and persevere in life,” she said after winning the crown.
We must continue to advocate for our rights and I hope my win will empower the girl child. People with disabilities must not look down upon themselves.”

The contestants sashayed down the catwalk in gowns and traditional African robes and were asked an array of questions to decide the winner.

Mutukura won a food hamper and US$85 (70 euros) – a fair bit of money in Zimbabwe.
Pageant organizer Brenda Mudzimu said a lack of funds had made it difficult to get the initiative off the ground. In the end, the contest only attracted one sponsor, but Mudzimu says she hopes to one day make the event international.

The pageant aims to instil confidence in girls living with albinism in Zimbabwe as well as reduce the stigma,” Mudzimu said.

My relationship with Kiss Daniel is not for the public to know – Chidinma
User Avatar Forum: Music
Posted by: Gimbiya - 03-18-2018, 10:49 AM - No Replies

Chidinma who hails from Imo State but grew up in Ketu, Lagos, stated that the people will get to know later about any relationship going on between him and the pop singer
Popular Nigerian female singer, Chidinma Ekile, who was recently rumoured to be dating Kiss Daniel, has come out to clear the air over her relationship with the Woju Crooner. According to her, she is not ready to open up about her relationship with him now.
Chidinma who hails from Imo State but grew up in Ketu, Lagos, stated that people will get to know later about any relationship going on between her and the pop singer.
[Image: If-Im-in-a-relationship-with-Kiss-Daniel...asnews.jpg]
In an interview with Punch, the singer talked about her sojourn into music, her plans for the future and relationship with other male singers
On Project Fame:

I was excited to be the first female to win Project Fame in 2010. During the show, I was asked if I thought a girl could win and I said yes. I didn’t want a guy to win that edition of the competition; I was rooting for either me or Yetunde to take the prize home.
At a time in her career, she had a break in music. She had this to say about that:
It is true that I have not released music for a while. I just felt the need to take a break in order to restructure and to be sure of the kind of music I should put out. I also needed to form a team after leaving Capital Hill Music.
[Image: If-Im-in-a-relationship-with-Kiss-Daniel...74x410.jpg]
On why she left Capital Hill Music:
Leaving Capital Hill Music was not an easy decision for me to make because we were like a family. However, change is constant and I needed to move on. I miss the friendship, the laughter and fun. I didn’t have issues with the company; my contract expired and I decided not to renew it. I have my own record company now, Fortified Music. Initially, it was not easy for me to manage all the responsibilities that came my way but things are getting better now as I have a team working with me. I am the only artiste presently signed to the label, but there are plans to sign artistes.

Chidinma also spoke on her current projects:
My new song, Love Me, was produced by Oscar. The inspiration came up when we were talking about love in the studio; it is not a personal experience. I just released the video of the song and the reception has been awesome.
[Image: If-Im-in-a-relationship-with-Kiss-Daniel...ews-3.jpeg]
She was then asked about her relationship with pop-life singer Flavour and Kiss Daniel

I was never signed to Flavour’s record company and I wasn’t in a relationship with him. However, I have been involved in some projects with him because we have a good chemistry. Working with him is fun and less stressful.
And about Kiss Daniel. I don’t like to speak about my relationship or love life in public. There is nothing to talk about me and Kiss Daniel; people can say anything they want to say. Whether I am in a relationship with him or not, everyone will get to know later. I find it weird that I am always linked to one musician or the other. At times, it takes extra effort for me to convince people that certain reports about me are untrue.

No big deal in having a deep kiss in movies – Nollywood actress says

Blessing who recently uploaded a video on her Instagram page and she was captured in the video having a deep romantic kiss with a male actor on the beach.
Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing, aka Omoge Lekki, is one of the most daring actresses in the industry. The sultry actress who is known by many for her hot romantic role in movies, has stated that there is no big deal in kissing in movies.
[Image: No-big-deal-in-having-a-deep-kiss-in-mov...14x410.jpg]
Blessing who recently uploaded a video on her Instagram page and she was captured in the video having a deep romantic kiss with a male actor on the beach.
Many of her followers felt the kissing was too real to be an act, considering the fact that Blessing constantly moaned with pleasure and closed her eyes, obviously lost in passion.[Image: No-big-deal-in-having-a-deep-kiss-in-mov...85x410.jpg]
But according to the Nollywood actress, it was just an ordinary kiss and besides she was only doing her job. She spoke to Sunday Scoop and she said:

There was nothing real about that scene. It was just an act and there were many people with us on that set. When we watch American films, we appreciate them for how natural they act, but when it comes to our things, we criticise our actors for doing their jobs well. Acting is make-believe and we need to make our fans believe whatever we show them on screen.
The title of the movie is Bad Market and it was directed by Yomi Gold. I have no fears that people would criticise me for doing my job well. Since the beginning of my career, this is the first time that I would be locking lips with any actor. We cannot be faking things like this anymore. If we don’t play the role well, it is the same Africans that would bash us for not doing it as well as it is done in the western world.”
Despite how comfortable she appeared shooting the kissing scene, Blessing stated that she could not go nude on a movie set.

Kissing is the height of it for me and I think that is normal. I don’t see myself ever going nude in a movie,” she added.
[Image: No-big-deal-in-having-a-deep-kiss-in-mov...49x410.jpg]The actress, who recently celebrated her birthday across several states in the US, also maintained that she solely funded her extravagant lifestyle.
She said:

"I pay all my bills myself. I decided to give myself a treat for my birthday and that is why I visited different states to celebrate it. There was no big deal about it. I was with the people who loved me and I had a wonderful time.”
On if she is involved in any other business, Blessing said:
For now, acting is the only thing that foots my bills. Something big is coming very soon but for now, I stick only to my acting career.”

Nick Gordon: Bobby Brown Killed Bobbi Kristina, Not Me!
User Avatar Forum: Music
Posted by: Gimbiya - 03-18-2018, 10:17 AM - No Replies

Just a few days ago, Nick Gordon was arrested for domestic violence again. It's part of a very disturbing pattern.
The disgraced former fiance of the late Bobbi Kristina Brown is now openly lashing out at ... Bobby Brown.
The man held legally responsible for Bobbi Kristina's death blames that entire tragedy on her father.

Nick Gordon is fuming.

Despite his recent arrest after police noticed that his girlfriend, Laura Leal, had clear signs that she had been struck repeatedly in the face, Nick Gordon's anger is not directed inward.

Similarly, despite being found legally responsible for Bobbi Kristina's death in a civil trial and ordered to pay millions to her estate over her wrongful death, he points the finger at someone in particular.

Speaking to RadarOnlineNick Gordon blames Bobby Brown for ... everything, it sounds like.

But especially for Bobbi Kristina's tragic death.

"He’s to blame! He was a crackhead. He smoked crack and he brought that into the house. Nobody else did drugs before him."

That's ... a very interesting point of view.

Recently, Bobby Brown decreed that Nick Gordon should be thrown in jail where he can be raped.

Obviously, while many believe that Gordon belongs in prison (some believe that he deserves a harsher, more permanent sentence), we should never wish something as evil and indefensible as sexual assault upon anyone.

Nick Gordon explained why he believes that Bobby Brown made that explosive comment.

"The man feels guilty."

Interesting. He elaborates.

"You kind of figure if you have a guilty conscience you have to put the blame on somebody else."

It is always interesting to hear what ideas a man like Gordon holds about the feeling of guilt.

Speaking of guilt, this is Gordon's most recent mug shot for allegedly abusing girlfriend Laura Leal in Florida.

We say "most recent" because he was arrested for similar charges in June of 2017.

Same state, same girlfriend. This time, his beard's a little longer.

Last time, his arrest for domestic assault and kidnapping involved a harrowing tale in which Laura Leal says that she only escaped from his fists and fury when she managed to grasp a candlestick and stun him with it so that she could run for safety.

Leal would go on to admit that she could have ended up like Bobbi Kristina, explaining how the abuse had started off gradually before building up to the point where she'd feared for her life.

Unfortunately, as too often happens in abuse cases, she suddenly became uncooperative a few months later and prosecutors had little choice but to drop the charges.

Leal asked the judge to drop the no contact order, stating that she's not in any danger from Gordon ... all evidence to the contrary.

The judge did not comply with her request, though it seems that it's only a matter of time she's back in his orbit.

Bobby Brown has reached out and offered to help Leal through his Bobbi Kristina Serenity House, which works to help women escape from the horrors of domestic violence.
Gordon is shrugging that off and asking a peculiar question.
"That’s fine. I don’t care if he helps her or not. I don’t know what he would help her with."
Maybe ... to help her escape ... from an abusive relationship? Just a thought. Just a guess.
In general, Nick Gordon seems dismissive of Bobby Brown.
"I don’t care about him or what he has to say."
And there's one particular point of bitterness that he feels towards the man who might have become his father-in-law.
"He could have helped me by letting me see my fiance and burying my fiancee."
The idea of Gordon attending Bobbi Kristina's funeral is ... stomach-turning, to many.
Just remember, folks, that the criminal investigation into her death is ongoing and that investigators are absolutely taking note of Gordon's various arrests.

Farrah Abraham: Hey! Look, Maci Bookout is Doing Porn Too!
User Avatar Forum: TV
Posted by: Gimbiya - 03-18-2018, 10:12 AM - No Replies

Farrah Abraham ... well, the girl has seen better days, that's for sure.
Back in October -- and as we're just now seeing on Teen Mom OG -- she was given the choice to either keep filming the show or keep working in the adult industry.
She chose the adult industry, or as she explains it, she was neither fired nor did she quit, she was bullied out of the show because of all the hate crimes committed against the nation's top female celebrity.
So Farrah is out, and she's obviously been pretty salty about it for months now.
The latest example of that?
She's talking about how hypocritical it is that she lost her job for doing porn when Maci Bookout is doing the exact same thing and is facing no consequences.
Really, this is an argument she's trying to make.
But why would she even think that?
Let's get into it!

1. Farrah's Firing
[Image: farrah-abraham-castle-selfie.png]
You surely know this story by now, but let's recap just for fun: after nearly being fired a few years ago for that celebrity sex tape, Farrah got fired for real last October when she began getting real into that thing where she masturbated on a webcam and streamed it online.

2. Did She REALLY Get Fired?
Things were confusing for a while, because sometimes she said she was fired and sometimes she said she quit, but now we know that she was given an ultimatum, and she chose to quit filming Teen Mom in favor of her adult endeavors.

3. Huh
[Image: farrah-lynn-abraham.jpg]
We saw that all very clearly, but still, she's suing Viacom for unlawful termination and also because she says executive producer Morgan J. Freeman made her fear for her life, because hey, why not?

4. Interesting ...
Real quick though, remember the first time this was an issue, back when Teen Mom came back from being canceled when Amber went to prison? In the beginning, Farrah wasn't asked back at all, and when producers approached the other moms about finally bringing her back on, Maci in particular had an issue with it.

5. Think of the Children
[Image: maci-bookout-interview-with-mtv-uk.jpg]
At first, Maci said that she'd quit if Farrah came back, but then she said that she wouldn't allow Bentley to film because she didn't want her son on the same show as a porn star.

6. Empty Threats
[Image: maci-bookout-and-bentley.png]
That didn't last too long either though, and before we knew it, both Maci and Bentley were back to filming as usual, even though Farrah was back in full force herself.

Ellen DeGeneres Exposes Kim Kardashian's Surrogate's Identity
User Avatar Forum: TV
Posted by: Gimbiya - 03-18-2018, 10:06 AM - No Replies

Ellen DeGeneres is a perpetual gift, and this video is no exception.

You know how Kim Kardashian has been adamant about protecting the identity of her gestational carrier, even though she also let fans watch her surrogate meet her family.
Well, Ellen has come out with a new video that reveals the surprising identity of the woman who carried Chicago West to term.
Kim Kardashian could not safely carry another child due to multiple pregnancy complications that could have potentially become life-threatening.
For that reason, she and Kanye elected to use a gestational carrier -- so that an embryo from her egg and his sperm was implanted into a third party.
This surrogate remained anonymous, but she had to follow
strict dietary restrictions during the pregnancy. She was basically carrying royalty, folks.
But even when Kim brought this woman onto Keeping Up With The Kardashians, her identity remained obscured so that this woman could retain her privacy.
Fans know this woman only as Lorena.
Is Ellen really willing to shatter that?
Well ... not exactly.
"If you didn't see the episode where Kim introduces her surrogate to the family," Ellen begins. "I'm gonna show you some of it right now"
And then the almost familiar video begins.
There is a twist, however.
Mixed in with the very real footage from Keeping Up With The Kardashians, in which Kim's unnamed gestational carrier's face is never revealed as she meets the very pregnant Khloe and Kylie, Ellen shows this woman from a different angle.
Except that, as you'll see in the video below, the surrogate is "revealed" to be none other than Ellen herself.
Obviously, Ellen, who just turned 60 this year, was not Kim's surrogate. For so many reasons.
(Don't get us wrong, lesbians can and do act as gestational surrogates just like straight women, because anyone who tells you that the job involves having sex with a man is lying to you)
Ellen, the perpetual prankster, has had her team edit her into the Keeping Up With The Kardashians clip.
They actually did a pretty good job, though the wig itself isn't terribly convincing.
And neither is Ellen's behavior.
[Image: surrogate-lorena-and-kylie-jenner-and-kh...ashian.png]
In real life, Ellen donates hospital rooms and gives to charity and needy individuals.
Also in real life, Kim's gestational carrier is a sweet, kind woman who loved bringing a child into a happy household.
In the video, Ellen The Surrogate is shifty and the last sort of person that you would want carrying your child -- or any child.
"I could use a drink. Any Pabst Blue Ribbon or Michelob Ultra?" She appears to ask upon arrival. "Shoot, I just remembered -- I'm not allowed alcohol."
Anyone who is pregnant should absolutely not drink alcohol, of course. Which is the point of the joke.
Ellen follows it up by asking for, as if it's an alternative to alcohol: "Do you have wine? Red or white."
Ellen The Surrogate can also be seen digging into Kris Jenner's purse and pulling out a handful of cash.
As you'll see as you watch the video itself, it's a funny bit.
Ellen isn't maligning the real Lorena or even herself -- she's just poking at what fans don't know about this woman and eliciting some laughter in the process.
Ellen is such a gift. She's our favorite part of the non-existant "Deep State."

Investigate How Ekweremadu Acquired 32 Choice Properties" - Umezulike
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 03-17-2018, 11:33 PM - No Replies

Quote:A former Chief Judge of Enugu State, Professor I.A Umezulike, has asked the National Security Adviser (NSA), Brigadier-General Babagana Monguno (retd), to order the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to probe how Mr. Ike Ekweremadu, Deputy Senate President, acquired 32 choice properties in Nigeria and abroad.

The demand for investigation was made in a 16 June 2017 letter addressed to NSA by the retired Chief Judge.

In the letter, exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters, Professor Umezulike said Mr. Ekweremadu's lifestyle and the properties he has acquired are not justified by this source of income and should be probed under Section 7 (1) (b) of the EFCC Act.

Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu
According to the retired judge, the EFCC has the power to "cause investigation to be conducted into the properties of any person if appears to the Commission that the person’s lifestyle and extent of the properties are not justified by his source of income”.

He noted that Mr. Ekweremadu is in his fourth term as senator representing Enugu West Senatorial District.

Before being elected as a senator, said Professor Umezulike, Mr. Ekweremadu spent four years as an aide to former Enugu State governor, Mr Chimaroke Nnamani, first as the Chief of Staff and later, as Secretary to the State Government.

"In sum, from 1999 till date, he has been in the realm of public office without any break to engage in any personal business. Thus, his emoluments in the past 18 years are easily ascertainable from Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission," asserted the retired judge.

He equally claimed that prior to his entry into public office in 1999, Mr. Ekweremadu was a struggling lawyer, who lived in a depressed suburb of Enugu at No. 17. Mike Ejeagha Street, Abakpa-Nike, Enugu.

"He managed to eke out a living as a 'charge and bail' legal practitioner," said Professor Umezulike, who attached photographs of buildings that housed the Deputy Senate President's law office.

Professor Umezulike noted that within a space of 18 years in public office, Mr. Ekweremadu has amassed billions of naira and used part of the money to buy high-end properties across four continents. He added that Mr. Ekweremadu has money in the vaults of Sterling Bank Plc and United Bank of Africa.

In Enugu alone, said the retired judge, the Deputy Senate President own
No. 14, Iyienu Street, Independence Layout;
7 O'Connor Street, Asata;
14/16 Charles Street, G. R. A, Enugu;
9B Isuofia Street, Shagari Low Cost Housing in Trans-Ekulu;
28 Owerri Road in Asata,
House 2, Local City Garden, G. R. A;
an a plot at Republic Layout.
He also owns 69.4 hectares of land in Ogbeke-Nike, Enugu.

Mr. Ekweremadu's property portfolio in Abuja includes Plot 1518 Maitama,
11 Evan Enwerem Street, Apo Legislative Quarters,
Plot 2633 Kyami, Housing Estate
(Plot 1106 CRD, Cadastral Zone 07-07,
Lugbe, 2, Jim Nwobodo Street, Apo Legislative Quarters and
Plot 2782 Asokoro Extension.

He equally owns houses at Citi Park Estate, Gwagwalada;
Plot 1474 Cadastral Zone BD6, Mabushi; Congress Court, Abuja;
Flat 1, Block D25, Athletics Street, (24th Street) Games Village; and
Plot 66, 64 Crescents, Gwarimpa Estate.

In the British capital of London, Mr. Ekweremadu owns
Flat 4 Varsity Court, Hormer Street, WIH 4NW, London;
and 52 Ayleston Avenue, NW6 7AB, London. Both properties were subjects of a recent exclusive report by SaharaReporters.

In Dubai, as also previously reported by this website, Mr. Ekweremadu is the owner of Room 1903, The Address Hotel, Downtown Dubai; The Address Boulevard, 3901, Dubai; 2 Flats of Burij Side Boulevard (The Signature), Dubai; Emirate Gardens Apartment No. EGG1/1/114, Dubai; Emirate Gardens Apartment No. EGG1/115, Dubai; Apartment No. DFB/12/B 1204, Park Towers, Dubai; Flat 3604, MAG 214, Dubai; and Villa No 148, Maeen1, The Lakes Emirates Hills, Dubai. In Florida, United States of America, the Deputy Senate President owns 4507 Stella Street, Bellavida Estate; 2747 Club Cortile Circle and 2763 Club Cortile Circle, all in Kissime, Florida.

"Given the foregoing, we urge and beseech you to direct thorough investigation of these properties of Senator Ike Ekweremadu with a view of bringing him to book and edify the fight against economic and financial crimes in Nigeria," said Professor Umezulike.

Against Chelsea, Messi scored 2 to bring up 100 Champions League goals and produced a magnificent solo run to set up Dembele's goal.

Sadiya Lawal's Divorce Story: "I Was Still A Virgin, 3 Years After My Wedding"
User Avatar Forum: Romance
Posted by: Edoman - 03-17-2018, 06:24 PM - Replies (1)

The divorce story of a Nigerian lady named Sadiya Lawal is currently trending on Twitter.

According to the story which was shared by Jaruma magazine, she found out her ex-husband who refused to consummate their marriage was gay after she caught him in bed with her own father. Read the story below ...
The lady who said she met her husband as a corps member in Abuja, further disclosed they never had sex and she was still a virgin 3 months into their marriage, not knowing her husband was gay.

The story of the 29-year-old lady identified as Sadiya Lawal was shared on Jaruma Magazine Twitter page, and it read

MY NAME IS SADIYA LAWAL. I AM 29 YEARS OLD. I AM FROM BAUCHI STATE. I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE MY DIVORCE DIARIES WITH YOU. #DivorceDiaries

For me, it was love at first and Hamisu was the one.

I met my husband when I was a Corper. I was serving in Abuja at the time. It was a beautiful time in my life and I quickly fell in love with the tall handsome charming stranger I met at Dunes Centre. His name was Hamisu Mohammed. It was love at first sight.

I was at the restaurant when he walked towards the aisles. Our eyes met for a moment and that was it. It felt like electricity and my heart was almost beating out of my chest when he smiled and started walking towards me.

I tried to look away but his pull was too magnetic and I found myself smiling back at him.

‘Hello lady, you look like you are having a good time’ he said and my heart stopped for a minute as all my senses concentrated on listening to him

I just kept smiling like a fool as he kept smiling back. I don’t even remember what my reply was. We ended up sitting down and talking for like 3 hours that day. The rest, as they say, is history. A year after that fateful meeting we got married. It was a most beautiful day that I will cherish forever. I was so in love with him, he was everything.

As any typical northern girl, I excitedly prepared for my wedding night with a lot of gyaran jiki and Kayan Mata. The weeks before my wedding were filled with all sorts of skin treatments, consumption of aphrodisiacs and vaginal steaming all in anticipation of the big night. I looked forward to consummating our love on that special night.

On that special night, when all the glitz and glam of the wedding was done, it was just the two of us. I was so nervous and excited but Hamisu did not look interested. We talked for a while and then he fell asleep.Yes! My husband fell asleep on our first night. I did not know what do, whether to wake him up or to allow him sleep. I couldn’t hold myself I had to wake him up.

‘Honey, I don’t think we should be sleeping tonight. It is our first night, it is the Sunnah.. He cut me off with a kiss and we made out for a while; then he told me he couldn’t do anything that night because he was so tired from the activities of the wedding. Fair enough… so we slept off.

Two weeks later we were still sleeping together…that is we were only sleeping. At this point I became fed up. No matter how hard I tried to get him in the mood my husband did not seem interested in making me a woman. He would rather go to sleep.

Three months after my wedding and I was still a virgin. My husband was not interested in that part of our marriage though he was a wonderful husband in other areas. He was very supportive of my career, he took care of me, he cooked and cleaned up after himself, he made me laugh, he was affectionate but that was the end of it… after a while I gave up trying.

There were a lot of rumours swirling around our social circles about my husband and his sexual preferences; but every single time he assured me he was working on being a lover I would cherish… eventually he always said.

The months were followed by a year then 2 years then 3 years and still our marriage remained unconsummated. I did not know what to do next. Friends told me to try and get his attention, to be uninhibited to be sexy blah blah blah.

I was sick and tired of hearing it was up to me to get my own husband to fulfil my marital rights. I was reaching my breaking point. It all became worse with the pressure and questions from our families about why we had not had children yet. How could we have children when we were living like roommates instead of husband and wife?

I confronted him and he told me he had been molested as a boy and he was working on being sexual for me. My heart went out to him and I left it at that, I prayed for him every day, to overcome his experience.

One day I went to work and suddenly my period came so I had to rush back home to clean up; as I lived just fifteen minutes away from my office. I walked into my living room to find my husband being sodomised by another man who was on top of him.

He had sweat beads on his face and his eyes were closed. They did not hear me open the door; neither did they notice me standing directly opposite them. Hamisu opened his eyes. He looked at me and I looked at him.

He pushed the man off him and that is when I recognised who he was. The man that was sodomising my husband was my father.

What the hell was my father doing here? With my husband? I ran to the kitchen and took my largest knife. The rage inside me was like red hot lava in a volcano and it was threatening to erupt and consume all of us. The betrayal! He would not touch me but he could sleep with my father! I was confused about my father, No maybe my mind was playing tricks on me… my father was gone by the time I returned from the kitchen.

Hamisu was Unclad and struggling to wear his trousers when I stabbed him, I missed and a chase ensued. I wanted to send him to hell where he belonged.

Finally, I got his hand; the knife sliced through skin and flesh and came out with blood spraying everywhere staining the white carpet. He groaned in pain: Sadiya!

I raised the knife again; I wanted to stab him in his heart, just like he had done to me. I wanted to damage him with all the rage inside me.

He was begging me and I was charging towards him to finish him off when I tripped and fell; the knife slipped away from my hand and in that moment the powerlessness of my situation hit me.

What could I really do? Who would even believe me? What type of daughter would I be to accuse my father of homosexuality? How could I face my mother with the news that my father and my husband were lovers? Inna Lillahi what could I really do in this situation. I broke down; I just crouched and broke down in tears, the blood from my period further staining my white carpet… I did not care, let the carpet stain I thought- as I watched it turn a dirty red colour…

He crawled towards me, ‘Sadiya I am sorry’ was all he kept saying. I had so many things I wanted to say to him but I just could not open my mouth. It was as if the weight in my heart had pulled my mouth shut. I heard him talk.

He said he had always been a bottom (other men did it to him), since his days in secondary school. He said a senior boy had taught him and somehow it had become his habit. He said he preferred that to being with a woman.

‘I really do love you Sadiya, just not in that way you know! When we met you accepted me, without any questions. I love you but I just could not be a lover to you. And I saw that you liked being married to me. I always assumed you knew…
This was a mistake, it will never happen again. Your father is the senior boy who first molested me back in secondary school. I had not seen him since secondary school until the day I went to greet him before we got married. We rekindled our relationship and… .’
I slapped his dirty mouth. How dare he? Three years in a sex less marriage and he had the audacity to tell me he assumed I knew?
Why would a woman assume her husband was a perverted homo sexual pig? Why? Why did he marry me? He just used me to kill the rumours ko? Shege tsinnanne!
He continued to talk but I went to the bathroom and cleaned myself up.
I walked out and drove straight home to my mother. After narrating what happened, my mother held me in her arms and told me she had caught my father several times with different lovers and she had taken it in her stride.
I could not believe what she was saying. So all this time… my father had been a gay man and my mother knew. Not only did she know but she condoned it! Subhanallah. The only part of the story that shocked my mother was that he had seduced his son in law. I was beyond disgusted. What on earth?
All I thought I knew about my parents was a lie. A disgusting lie. I wanted to throw up wallahi. So she had children with him while knowing his true nature? According to my mother all I needed was patience. She told me she coped by telling herself it was just a habit like smoking cigarettes. She warned me against causing any scandal and instructed me to go home and take care of my husband like a good wife should.
According to my mother all I needed was patience. She told me she coped by telling herself it was just a habit like smoking cigarettes. She warned me against causing any scandal and instructed me to go home and take care of my husband like a good wife should. No one wanted to be there for me so I drove home, cleaned up my house and waited. He came home late at night with a bandage over his wound. He talked a lot but I did not hear a word. I just looked at him and wondered what else he was hiding.
That night I could not sleep. What was I going to do? I had cried gallons of tears and still I was hurting. The tears did not cool the raging fire within me. I was so angry! A week later, I still did not know how I was going to leave my husband. I could not pretend that things were normal between us. I was all cried out.
So I decided to take my life. It was the best possible outcome. If I killed myself then no would ever find out about the shame in my family. At night, I took a knife and started to slit my wrists until I passed out. I thought I had died but I woke up in a hospital with Hamisu and my mother by my side.
He had found me bleeding out on the floor of the kitchen. I was angry I did not succeed in taking my own life. I ended up staying in the hospital for a week and Hamisu was the ever dutiful husband. Everyone called me ungrateful for wanting to end my life despite having such a devoted husband… what more did I want in life; they all asked me. I wish they could know what I had been going through
Once I felt better, I told him I wanted him to divorce me. I told him if he refused I would go to court and tell the alkali (judge) everything. I had nothing to lose. I just wanted to be away from him, from my parents, from everyone that said I was an ungrateful wife. I wish could put themselves in my shoes.
He divorced me. It has been a year and I just recently moved into my own house. I do not want anything to do with my parents. I still have suicidal thoughts every now and then.
Hamisu has remarried and I pitied the poor girl when I saw their pictures on Instagram. I wondered if she would ever find out. I wonder if she will be patient with him. That patience is what landed me in the hell I found myself in.
I should have known that something was not right from our first night together. I should have said something, I should have left him. But no, I wanted to be a good wife. I cannot trust a man again. I do not wish to marry again. For now, what is important to me is making as much money to take care of myself without needing anyone.
People always say that time heals all wounds so I have hope of being normal some day. Thank you for reading my story.

Monkey Pulls Down Woman’s Top In Thailand, Exposing Her Boobs (Photos)
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 03-17-2018, 06:06 PM - No Replies

A woman was almost embarrassed by a monkey in Thailand after it hopped on her and playfully pulled down her top, exposing her boobs in the process.

Brittany Bowman was travelling with friends when she visited Chiang Mai monkey centre in Thailand to visit the local macaques.

The Los Angeles native let the baby monkey clamber over her after it jumped onto her leg.

But while the macaque was attempting to swing up to her shoulders, it grabbed on to Brittany’s off-the-shoulder top and almost pulled it down.

Luckily Brittany pulled it back in time and managed to avoid embarrassment.

The shocked tourist was left in fits of giggles as she grabbed hold of her top to protect her modesty. The owner of the monkey jokingly stated that it was probably looking for breast milk.

Brittany said:

“It left all of us laughing hysterically, almost to the point of tears. “I was just so scared that the monkey was jumping on me that I didn’t even consider it would pull down my top. “The owners said he must have been looking for breast milk.

“It was all just so random, I’m just glad we caught it on camera.”

According to Britannica:

Macaques are robust primates whose arms and legs are of about the same length. Their fur is generally a shade of brown or black, and their muzzles, like those of baboons, are doglike but rounded in profile, with nostrils on the upper surface.

The tail varies between species and may be long, of moderate length, short, or absent. Size differs between the sexes and between the species; males range in head and body length from about 41 to 70 cm (16 to 28 inches) and in weight from about 2.4 kg (5.3 pounds) in females and 5.5 kg in males of the smallest species.

Macaques are omnivorous, and they possess large cheek pouches in which they carry extra food. Breeding occurs year-round in some (mostly tropical) species, but, among those living outside the tropics, it is seasonal. Single young are born after about six months’ gestation and become adult at four years. Macaques are considered highly intelligent but may be bad-tempered as adults.

It was gathered that the woman's husband had made trouble and threatened the headmistress few days ago over the same issue.

The woman allegedly even bit one of the teachers who was trying to restrain her from flogging the bursar.

Pictured below is the bursar with her her flogged hand after the woman's attack.

Tongue Of A Woman Bitten By A Poisonous Spider (Graphic Photos)

According to an Instagram Health Page, Healmedoc, this woman pictured above was bitten by a poisonous spider.

Read what they wrote and the see the extremely graphic photos below.

'Unbelievable case of a woman being bit in her tongue by a SPIDER!! ?.Depending on the type of spider that bites you, spider bite symptoms can range from very mild to outright poisonous. A lot of times, it’s hard to know what type of spider bit you because you may not notice the bite until hours after it actually happened.Identifying a spider bite is easiest if you saw the spider that bit you. Look for things like swelling, a red welt, skin damage, and any troubling symptoms that accompany the bite. Other symptoms include itching or rash, muscle pain or cramping, blister that’s red or purple in color, sweating, difficulty breathing, swollen lymph glands, high blood pressure. In some cases, you can treat spider bites at home. For nonvenomous spider bites, follow these steps: apply an ice pack on and off for 10 minutes at a time, elevate the area to reduce swelling, take an antihistamine to help with itching, clean the area to prevent infection.'
.
'Always seek medical attention if you suspect you’ve been bitten by one of the following species: brown recluse, black widow, hobo spider, tarantula, or a Brazilian wandering spider.'

Nigerian Prostitute Based In Europe Begs Her Madam To Let Her Go. Photos/Video
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 03-17-2018, 03:24 PM - No Replies

A young lady who was trafficked through the Mediterranean desert via Libya into Europe for prostitution - has begged her Madam identified as Queen Godwin to let her go. According to a report by Aolat Oluwatomisin, Jennifer was billed to pay Queen €35,000 of which she had paid €30,000 remaining €5,000 (all this money was paid out of Jennifer's proceeds from prostituting herself as she was compelled to).

Jennifer is refusing to pay her Madam Queen the €5,000 remaining because last week, the Benin Monarch, Oba Ewuare 11, placed a curse on perpetrators of human trafficking in Edo state as well as native doctors who administer oath of secrecy on victims, asserting that the gods of Benin Kingdom would destroy those involved in the illicit trade.

Being that Edo indigenes respect the Oba/throne and fearful of the resultant effects of the Oba's curses placed on perpetrators of this ill trade, poor Jennifer is caught in the middle but the madam said Oba's curses does not apply to her and Jennifer has to pay the €5,000 remainder else she will diabolically effect mental health issues on her.

According to reports, the Madam has Jennifer's panties and pubic hair in her possession which she is using to threaten her.

Ade Lawyer: Meet Assassin Who Has Killed Over 100 People (Photos)
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 03-17-2018, 03:21 PM - No Replies

Recently arrested 39-year-old vicious assassin, Adeola Williams aka Ade Lawyer, has confessed that he has killed over 100 since assassinating people was his source of livelihood.

“But now I’m born again,” he said while being paraded.

Williams, a father of three from Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State, was recently arrested over the killing of one Ganiyu Ayinla, aka Pinero, who was the P.A to Adekunle Lawal, aka Kunle Poly, the NURTW chairman in Idumota, Lagos.

While giving account of his activities, he said, “If I get a chance to regain my freedom in this life, I will never go back to crime again. I also advise the millions of youths out there that crime does not pay. I was into crime for over 20 years and despite the risk involved and lack of rest of mind, I have nothing to show for it except the uncompleted bungalow in Ibadan. I have nothing on ground to fall back on despite taking the lives of more than 100 Nigerians. May God forgive me.”

However, Williams said he decided to take the life of Kunle Poly for refusing to talk to the state chairman of the union, Tajudeen Agbede, on his behalf. He said he worked hard for Agbede to emerge as the chairman but that he was dumped after the election.

Williams added, “I thought about my predicament because my wife was heavily pregnant and the money I was getting from Oluomo wasn’t enough and I wasn’t ready to use my gun for armed robbery, so I decided to end the life of the man who refused to help me mend my relationship with Agbede.”

He said after the attack on Kunle Poly, he was later arrested but that he didn’t want to go down alone, thus he implicated some other persons. He added, “I decided to rope in Olorunwa because he was the one who ruined my life. It was my support for him during his fight with MC Oluomo that made me to lose my position at the union.

"After he was removed from office, he had so much money but he was wasting it on women and movie actors and he refused to help me. I was just so bitter, so I framed him.” He said he also decided to lie against MC Oluomo and Prince Kazeem Aletu.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has bowed to pressure, and is ready to amend the part of its 2018 SSCE Examination that clashed with the Friday Jumah prayer.

The affected subject is Chemistry 1 and 2, which was originally slated for 2pm to 5pm on Friday, April 20, 2018.

Following reactions from Muslim organisations, the Director of Public Affairs, WAEC Nigeria, Mr Demianus Ojijeogu has confirmed the slight amendment to Premium Times.

Mr Ojijeogu said: “For the sake of the people who will go to the mosque, the exam will be delayed till they come back”.

According to him, “the paper will be delayed till 2:30 pm or 3 pm, when the Muslims will return from the mosque.”

Prof Ishaq Akintola, Prof Abdulrazaq Kilani, Dr Saheed Ashafa and Hajia (Barrister) Mutiat Toyosi Orolu spoke with Premium Times, which exclusively investigated and reported the story.

Electoral Amendment: Saraki, Dogara Lock Horns Over Plot To Override Buhari..
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 03-17-2018, 03:17 PM - No Replies

Quote:Some legislators are deep-neck in a process to override President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision to reject an amendment to the Electoral Act, and leaders of both chambers of the National Assembly are not amused at each other’s position.

There is a simmering disagreement between the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, over a plot by legislators to override President Muhammadu Buhari on the amendment to the 2010 Electoral Act, Daily Trust has gathered.

Lawmakers told our correspondents that while Saraki wanted and canvassed for the override, Dogara allowed the House to resolve to revisit the bill, an action that was said to have angered the senate president, even as the senate resolved Thursday to write to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, over a High Court ruling restraining the
National Assembly from further action on the amendment.

Already, the House of Representatives has agreed with the president on two of his three reasons for withholding assent to the Electoral Act Amendment Bill. The president in his letter to the National Assembly cited three constitutional matters for withholding assent to the bill.

House spokesman, Abdulrazak Namdas, told journalists in Abuja on Wednesday that they would re-introduce the bill and pass it for second and third readings before re-transmitting it to the president.

Though Daily Trust could not get the immediate position of the Senate on the House of Representatives resolution as the spokesman, Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi (APC, Niger) was unavailable for comment and did not reply a text message sent to him on the matter, it was however gathered that with the development in the House, the senate has no option than to follow the decision to revisit the bill.

“We will allow them (House) to conclude work on it and they will send it to us for concurrence,” a reliable senate source said.

Another lawmaker said left for the senate leadership, both chambers would proceed straight to override the president without considering the reasons he gave.

“But we felt that the president was right in some aspects, that’s why this thing about revisiting the bill came up. As it is, proponents of the bill in the senate are not happy,” he said.

Asked if the two chambers would get the two-thirds majority to override the president if he declines assent to the bill again, the lawmaker said: “In the senate, I think they can get the two-thirds, but in the House, I doubt if that is possible. The truth is that there’s an ulterior motive to the amendment. You can see that PDP members are more interested in the whole thing.”

Asked if Speaker Yakubu Dogara is personally in support of the bill, he said: “One can say yes and no, regarding his support for the bill. From his body language, he wants to allow members to have their own say.

“You know there’s this notion that he’s romancing with the presidency too much and that he’s the only one benefiting. So, he wants to use this opportunity to show that it’s not true.

“In our own case, members want the president to lobby, not necessarily directly or by using money, but by giving us what is due to us such as the constituency projects. As at today, we don’t even know what they’ll do about the constituency projects, but by the time they now come suddenly and release it, you’ll see that members will listen to them.”

Daily Trust further gathered from members of the House of Representatives that it may be difficult to get the required number to override the president if he rejects the bill again.
“Let’s tell ourselves the truth, whether you like it or not, Buhari is still popular in the North. Anything that has to do with him, one should be very careful not to get into trouble. You can’t just wake up one day and say you want to challenge him and succeed,” a lawmaker said on condition of anonymity.

A Federal High Court presided over by Justice Ahmed Mohammed on Wednesday restrained the National Assembly from acting further on the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill 2018.

Mohammed in his ruling on an interlocutory injunction by the Accord Party ordered all the parties to maintain the status quo until Tuesday when the case will be heard in court.

The senate resolved to notify and write a letter to the CJN to inform him of the latest situation and remind him of the principle of separation of powers as enshrined in the Nigerian constitution so that he would caution judicial officers to avoid this kind of situation in the future.

Camps collate signatures for overriding Buhari

Before the Wednesday’s resolution of the House to revisit the bill rather than overriding the president, the two groups at the senate had commenced collation of signatures. Three senators who spoke to Daily Trust separately confirmed the collation. While Senator Dino Melaye (APC, Kogi) was said to be collating for the camp against the president’s action, the pro- Buhari camp is being led by Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

Daily Trust gathered that while those in the anti-Buhari camp are claiming to have got 65 senators, those supporting the president’s action have 43.

Section 58(5) of the 1999 Constitution reads:

Where the president withholds his assent and the bill is again passed by each House by two-thirds majority, the bill shall become law and the assent of the president shall not be required.”

While two third of the senate is 73, that of the House is 240. Since 1999, the National Assembly only used this power once. That was during the establishment of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

A Northeast senator who confirmed writing his name on the list of the pro-Buhari camp said those against the president’s action are the majority.

A senator in Melaye’s camp said they had gone very far in their quest to override the president’s action.

“It’s a mission accomplished because we have gone far on the project. Forget about their claim, they are very few and you know it is a game of numbers, not a game of propaganda. We have gotten more persons from their camp. We are just waiting for the day,” he said.

Also, a pro-Buhari senator said they would make the voting pattern of the override public.

“You know we are here representing our constituents but it is very unfortunate that many of our colleagues have abandoned those who sent them here for Saraki.

“Since voting would be done electronically, the result would be part of our votes and proceedings of the following day, we will make it available to the public,” he said on condition of anonymity.

On Thursday, the Senate leader, Ahmad Lawan, openly threw his weight behind the president’s action on the matter even though he faulted the court ruling on it.

Lawan said: “I don’t believe in that amendment, I voted against it, I will vote against it tomorrow but it is left for me to talk to my colleagues to see it the way I see it or if you want me to abandon my position, talk to me and that is how our democracy will develop.”

Pro-Buhari senators seek Oyegun’s intervention

A ranking senator said they had sought the intervention of the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the matter.

He said the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, is expected to meet with the caucuses of the APC at both chambers of the National Assembly to plead with the lawmakers to toe the party line, the president’s action.

The northern senator who pleaded anonymity said they had since realised that the reordered election timetable was a game plan of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

“We have spoken with our party to come into the matter because we have since realised that it is the agenda of our colleagues in the PDP. We will not fall into their plot to ridicule our party in 2019.

“Yes, our aggrieved colleagues in the APC who have almost perfected their plans to decamp to the PDP or SDP are in support of the game plan, we believe that the quick intervention of our party will make an impact,” he said.

Our anger with Buhari--Lawmakers

Lawmakers who are of the APC told Daily Trust that the president’s understanding of the principle of separation of powers was strange and that he abandons his supporters at will.

A senator said the attitude of the president towards his supporters in the parliament was responsible for the field day the opposition presently has in the parliament.

“Senators are being careful to openly defend the president. Look at what happened to Ndume when he supported Buhari at the peak of the Magu saga, or is it Omo-Agege’s case you want to talk about. If not for this, a lot of us would have come out openly to fight for him (President),” he said.

A member added: “Left for me, we can override the president at any time. The truth of the matter is that when you stand by the president, he abandons you when you’re in trouble.

“There’s this belief that most of us won elections because of the president’s popularity. Now we’re saying let everybody answer his name, but they’re objecting. I don’t know the kind of logic that is.

“But I heard that some governors are seriously talking to members from their states not to support any move to override the president. In fact, they threatened the members that should they support the move, none of them would get a return ticket. I think that may affect the whole thing, but in this game, anything can happen.”

But a PDP member said they were determined to ensure passage of the amended Electoral Act no matter what it takes.

“There’s no going back. It’s not about party but about the independence of the legislature. We want to assert our independence so that anybody that comes to the National Assembly, it won’t be based on anybody’s popularity.

“We’re seriously determined to override the president should he reject the bill the second time. We’re mobilizing in both chambers. All the noise about governors trying to force their members not to support the bill won’t work.

“Do the governors like Buhari? They’re doing that for their own selfish reasons. If they promise members return tickets, I can assure you that they won’t fulfill that at the end of the day.

“So, let the time come. You’ll see what will happen. We’ll get the required number (240) to override the president, there’s no doubt about that. Our leaders are determined and nothing will stop us. This is something that will deepen democracy, but we’re surprised that they don’t want it,” the PDP member said.

APC lawmakers plan anti-party

Another lawmaker who did not want to be named also said Saraki and other key APC senators were seriously pushing for the amendment to be passed into law for them to carry out anti-party activities after winning their elections.

“As for Saraki, the truth is that he doesn’t know what his fate is come 2019. He believes that he should use all the available opportunities now to get at the presidency. The whole idea is to force the presidency to come to the negotiating table with him so that he’ll know his direction.

Their major plan is that if there’s no negotiation, and the amendment scales through, they’ll work and win their elections as members of the National Assembly, and then when it comes to presidential election, they’ll do anti-party. They believe that once they win, the president or anybody else can’t do anything to frustrate their coming back, but that is very dangerous for them,”

We won't speak on president's refusal-INEC

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, says the electoral body would not discuss the implications of the president’s decision to reject the bill since the process has not been concluded.

INEC’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Mr. Rotimi Oyekanmi, quoted the chairman as saying that the current dates for the 2019 general elections were fixed in line with provisions of the existing law.

On the implications of the president’s decision, Oyekanmi said, “It is within the powers of the National Assembly to make laws. The 1999 constitution has also clearly stated the process through which a bill enacted by the National Assembly can metamorphose into a valid law. Part of the process is the prerogative of the president to either give or withhold assent. While it is true that INEC made recommendations to the National Assembly during the electoral law amendment process, it is not in our place to begin to discuss the implications of a process that is yet to be concluded.

As for the re-ordering of the election sequence, INEC fixed the dates for the 2019 general elections in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 30 (1) of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended). Remember that the tenure of the President, Vice President, Governors and Deputy Governors of the states (except Kogi, Bayelsa, Edo, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo and Anambra States) will expire on May 28, 2019, while membership of the National and State Assemblies will stand dissolved on June 8, 2019.

"Sections 76 (2), 116 (2), 132 (2) and 178 (2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) and Section 25 of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) state that elections into the said offices shall hold not earlier than 150 days and not later than 30 days before the expiration of the term of office of the last holder. It was based on these considerations among others that the commission on January 9 announced the timetable and schedule for the 2019 general elections.”

President may have confirmed suspicion-SDP

The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Alhaji Alfa Muhammed, said the decision of the pesident had raised suspicion that he was working with the electoral body.

Muhammed, in an interview with Daily Trust, said the action would create an atmosphere of delay and uncertainty within the polity.

He said, “The rejection by President Buhari raises suspicion of collaboration between the APC government and INEC. This position is affirmed by Mr. President’s decision to side with the INEC against the National Assembly in the quest by the two institutions to assert their constitutional powers. Ordinarily, the president should have sought judicial advice on who has the final authority on the matter if he was in doubt.

"Therefore, jumping into the arena and siding with INEC may be confirming the suspicion that the unpopular order of elections released by INEC may have been influenced by the APC government. Another implication is the delay and uncertainty it will create within the polity.”

Face-off a danger signal for 2019-ADP

The National Chairman of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Engineer Yabagi Sani, said the timetable face-off between the National Assembly and the Presidency was a danger sign post for 2019.

In an interview with Daily Trust, Sani also said the confrontation between the National Assembly and the Presidency on the issue might spell doom for the general elections unless the National Assembly, which is the guardian of democracy and the promoter of the interest of Nigerians, overrides the president’s veto. He said the president’s decision was an indication that selfishness and impunity had not only come to play but that some people had made up their minds to win elections at all costs without considering the people’s wish.

Sani added, “You would recall that we held a news conference to challenge INEC that the released schedule was undemocratic and unacceptable. Yet, sadly, INEC came up insisting that it would not shift ground.

"If the Presidency and INEC are both boldly expressing same anti-people sentiment, one can conclude that we need to pray for 2019 not to be hijacked. Our biggest worry is the legal dimension introduced. This is bringing back bad memories of the military years and setting our democracy many decades back.”

Indigenes Now Pay Herdsmen To Enter Their Own Farms In Delta – Okowa
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 03-17-2018, 03:08 PM - No Replies

The Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, has lamented the incursion of herdsmen into the state.

The governor made this known on Friday while receiving the Assistant Inspector General in charge of Zone 5, Rasheed Akintunde in Delta.

Akintunde was on a familiarisation tour of the state police command.

Okowa disclosed that some communities in Uwheru, Ughelli North LGA of the state had been completely taken over by herdsmen who now allegedly charge fees before the community members can access their farms.

He said the safety of the residents of the three affected communities was threatened by the incursion of the herdsmen.

The governor said, “There is a particular community in Delta State, at a point in time, we discussed it at security council meeting and just yesterday (Thursday) while I was in Ughelli North for my regular Town Hall meeting, the people raised a very serious issue about the Uwheru community.

“It is a very pathetic situation, because the President-General of the community spoke on the fact that out of seven communities, three of them are actually occupied by the herdsmen and the farmers are told that they must pay the herdsmen before they can enter their farms and that is very disturbing because it is strange for indigenes to pay money before they can enter their farms and I believe something has to be done before it evolves into a crisis situation.

“And this has been going on for several years but it has gotten worse of recent. So, AIG, this situation has to be addressed immediately as security issue.”

Okowa maintained that only the synergy between the different security agencies in Delta had kept the state safe so far.

How to Start a Tilapia Fish Farming Business in Nigeria

How to Start a Tilapia Fish Farming Business in Nigeria

1; Be Determined
When you intend to set up a tilapia fish farming business in Nigeria; be determined and certain that this is the type of business you want to enter into.
Know that it is not going to be easy because there might be a lot of ups and downs in it. If you are certain about this; when challenges come you won’t have regret when you encounter any challenges.

2; Set Up a Tilapia Business Plan
The major step you should take when trying to set up a tilapia farming business is to first write a business plan.
This business plan should contain your capital, the estimated amount or cost of feed. The amount of money you spent on purchasing the tilapia fish fingerlings.
The amounts of money spent in purchasing or leasing your land or fish pond site and other items.
The advantage of having a business plan is to document your loss or gain in the business and to know when you are missing out.

3; Set Up Your Tilapia Fish Farm & Fish Ponds
Before bringing your tilapia fish fingernails, you need to construct their ponds.
Though some fish farmers do prefer to rear their tilapia fishes in tanks while other prefer to rear them in artificial ponds. Here are major steps you need to carry out on getting a perfect fish farm or pond.

 • Land location; look for a land that is closer to your targeted market for easy transportation of your product after harvesting and also the location of the land should be mobile able for easy movement of feeds or equipment.
 • The Topography of the land; The topography of the proposed site should be generally flat with gentle sloping, which is quite suitable for establishing a commercial tilapia fish farm with minimum financial outlay.
 • Soil factors; (this depends); some farmers prefer concrete floor, some prefer leaving the pond earthly. Just know that the down part of the earth should be clayey in other retain water. But if the site is a sandy loam soil; it still okay.
 • Hydrology of the land; we all know that fishes can’t live without water. So you should know that you should always provide a constant water supply for your fishes. Even if you change the water, you should always refill immediately. Make a suitable source for water, for filling your pond or if possible you should know that boreholes will also be constructed which are expected to provide backup services to the farm especially in the dry season to enable your tilapia fish farm to operate during all season of the years.
 • Vegetation cover or shade; you may consider planting some tree to serve as shade for your tilapia fishes. To enable a normal temperature for fishes.
4; Prepare and Manage Your Tilapia Ponds
These are the necessary preparation to partake in your farm before bringing in your fishes.
 • Liming; lime is used for purifying water or substance. For your fish pond, you will use it for neutralizing the acid nature of the soil, promote the growth of phytoplankton, wipe out harmful bacteria, settles suspended soil particles in the water and promotes the formation of mineral elements needed for most favorable growth and progress of the tilapia fish.
The Lime is usually broadcasted at the pond bottom at the rate of 450 kg-500 kg per hectare and will be allowed to stay there for about two weeks. As soon as the pond construction is fully accomplished and the water control structures put in place, the ponds will then be limed using the Agricultural Lime or Quicklime.
 • Fertilization; Fertilizer application which could be Organic fertilizer that is made of (Cow dung, Poultry waste, Pig waste etc) or Inorganic fertilizer (NPK, Urea, Superphosphate etc) could be used to fertilize the ponds. These fertilizers that are applied in the ponds one week before stocking and it also aid in speeding up the growth of phytoplankton and zooplankton which are best known to be the natural food for farmed fish.

5; Stock Up Tilapia Fish Fingernails
After preparing your fish pond, it is then time to introduce your tilapia fish into your pond.
The fish will be stock at the rate of 10‐50 fingerlings per square meter for your fish depending on the production system. It is best to introduce the tilapia fish into ponds very early in the morning or late evening especially when the sunshine intensity is very low.
This is to avoid unnecessary stress which might cause high mortality of the fish few days after stocking.

6; Construct Farm Building and Infrastructure
It is recommended that you should construct a residential accommodation at your tilapia fish farm site for the occupation of the workers, who will be available to feed and monitor the fishes.
But if you feel that there will be no need for that, it will equally cost no harm.

7; Feed Your Tilapia Fish;
The feed has to be supplemented with specialized formulated and compounded fish feed to accelerate the growth of fish at their upper limit capability.  The fish should be fed twice daily with their feed at the rate of 5% body weight.
You can produce your own fish feed if you wish, all you need is a feed mill unit comprising a hammer mill, mixer, dryer and pelletizer which is  capable of producing 5 tons of feed per hour will be installed to produce the much-needed fish feed required on the farm. You can also sell your feed to other fish farmers who might be interested in buying. This also can add as an addiction increase in your profit.
Selecting Tilapia Fish Species for Your Tilapia Fish Farming
There are four types of tilapia fish. They are;
 • The Wami Tilapia (Oreochromis Urolepis Hornorum); is an African cichlid native to Uganda and Tanzania. This fish can also be found on Zanzibar but yet, it still remains unclear whether this is an introduced population or not.
 • Mozambique Tilapia (Oreochromis mossambicus); this fish is a native to Malawi, Mozambique, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. In South Africa, its variety is limited to the Eastern Cape Province and KwaZulu-Natal. The fish lives in the Lower Zambezi River and the Lower Shire River as well as on the coastal plains from the Zambezi delta to Algoa Bay.
 • Blue tilapia (Oreochromis aureus); it is also known as Israeli tilapia. The Blue tilapia fish is a native to Cameroon, Chad, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, and Senegal in tropical and subtropical African and the Middle East.
 • The Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus); This is an African cichlid native to Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Togo, and Uganda.
Factors you should consider before purchasing a species; these are factors which we should consider before purchasing our species. When putting these factors into consideration, your profit will increase. Choose fish species which;
 • Has faster growth rate.
 • Has the Adaptability to the environment.
 • That has hardy and can tolerate adverse environmental variations.
 • That has the efficient converter and utilization of both natural and artificial fish feed. (That is, been able to feed on but local/ natural and artificial feeds).
 • Endowed with high nutritive values.
 • Popular and Acceptable to the local community or market where it will be sold, has a high market price and also has a high demand in the market.
 • Has high Resistance to diseases.
Note; Of all the species of tilapia fish, the Blue tilapia fish and the Nile tilapia fish are best known to be the best species because of their high growth rate.
Hatching / Breeding Tilapia Fingernails
(Though this is optional) in other to increase your profit and reducing cost price for buying  new fingerlings, you can establish a breeding system for  your tilapia fish. Know that Tilapia fish can produce an average of 100-150 fingerlings in a week if properly cared for)
When breeding, you should keep in mind that you must control over-population. And also try as much as possible to always separate the fingerlings from the breeders. The fingerlings should be kept in a roomy pond to allow them enough space for a successful growth.
To increase profit, you can also sell your finger to other fishermen who have an interest in it.
Water Management on Your Tilapia Fish Farm
You should regularly and frequently monitor the water in your pond.
Water quality with the factor such as dissolved oxygen, acidity, carbon dioxide, iron, carbonates, nitrates, nitrite, ammonia, sulphide, Chloride, temperature, alkalinity, total hardness, turbidity, and conductivity have to be monitored appropriately to ensure that they are kept at most favorable levels.
 Growth of Your Tilapia Fish

After following the above steps; after stocking and feeding your tilapia fish with good fish feed and management care, it will grow and mature for a period of 110 days.
Then you can sell your tilapia fish. Or, if you don’t want to reach the 110 days because you have a preferable size you want your fish to be, then you can sell it.
Harvesting Your Tilapia Fish
You can harvest  your fish by reducing the water level in a lower quantity or draining the water level in the pond completely this can be done  by the attendants or by yourself  and it  can be done by moving through with a dragnet to collect all the fish.
Marketing Your Tilapia Fish in Nigeria
It will be better if you get buyers ready before draining or your fishes to avoid them from dying. Get buyers ready and know the market price to avoid loss.

Recommended;
You should know that Tilapia fishes can be affected by bacterial or viral diseases if adequate care is not given to it. So you must take a down to business measure cares to protect your pond from such occurrence. This can be done by cleaning your pond regularly, preventing overcrowding, and screening your pond often for risk factors or symptoms.
Tilapia farming business in Nigeria could be a lucrative business with low cost which one can indulge into and also have time for other business.
We wish you best.

Lecturer Dismissed For Exposing Corruption In Yabatech
User Avatar Forum: Universities
Posted by: Edoman - 03-17-2018, 08:36 AM - No Replies

The African Centre for Media and Information Literacy (AFRICMIL), has called on the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, to urgently intervene and void the sack of a lecturer, Mr Joseph Akeju, whose appointment was terminated by the governing council of Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech), Lagos, for exposing corrupt practices at the institution.

Mr. Akeju, a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Accountancy at Yabatech was dismissed for seven years for using his position then, as bursar, to expose corrupt practices at the College.

Although he was recalled in 2016 after the Minister of Education gave the directive for his immediate reinstatement, Akeju who has worked for 31 years at Yabatech may be denied his entitlements due to the recent termination of his appointment by the college’s governing council, just a few days to his retirement.

In a letter signed by its Coordinator, Chido Onumah, AFRICMIL, a civil society organisation committed to creating awareness and advancing the safety of whistleblowers, said it was imperative for the Minister of Education to look into the case of Mr. Akeju as any step taken to deny him his entitlements as a patriotic and upright retiring public servant will spell doom for the fight against corruption.

AFRICMIL expressed sadness over Mr. Akeju’s predicament and urged the Minister of Education to protect the interest of the lecturer who had blown the whistle against corruption.

According to AFRICMIL, Akeju’s recent dismissal by the management of Yabatech was pure vendetta to prevent him from getting his entitlements.

“Mr. Akeju is due for retirement from public service on 20th of March, 2018, but the chairman of the governing council, in a glaring act of desperation, perfected a scheme to deny him a dignified and honourable exit with the purported dismissal,” the letter noted.

AFRICMIL described the dismissal of Mr. Akeju as “vengeful, malicious and unjust,” noting that the action of the governing council of Yabatech was unmistakably a retaliation for Mr. Akeju’s outspokenness on the mismanagement and lack of openness and accountability perpetrated by the current governing council.

AFRICMIL said the continuous intimidation of Nigerians who have chosen to expose corruption will not only be a setback for the anti-corruption fight, but will also make it difficult for anyone to blow the whistle.

Quote:OWERRI—THE Association of Imo Petroleum Marketers and Dealers, AIPMD, has revealed that there are over 160 oil fields in the state.

Speaking to Vanguard in Owerri, the chairman, AIPMD, Mr. Chinedu Ndubuisi, also argued that having a database of oil companies operating in Imo state, would help create opportunities for the people.

His statement is coming at a time, a litre of petrol is said to be selling between N165 and N170, as against N145 government approved pump price in the state.

On some of the reasons for the one day conference with the theme: “Consolidation of Imo Petroleum Sector” he said: “The society is becoming a global village. We are trying to open up opportunities, attract investors and obviously, if we are able to tap into this, it will raise a lot.”

Ndubuisi disclosed that, “We have assets in terms of oil and gas deposit in Imo state, but as we speak now, there are over 160 oil fields situated in about 12 locations in Imo state.

“We have so many oil companies in the state, do we have the database to say that this is exactly what we have? We rely on the database of NNPC, and other oil companies to assess our own data.”

Posted by: Edoman - 03-17-2018, 08:29 AM - No Replies

No fewer than 800 members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara have defected to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Mr Iyiola Oyedepo, the Chairman of the PDP in the state, received the defectors in Ilorin on Friday during the visit of executive members of the party in the North Central Zone.

Dr Hanafi Alabere, who led the defectors from Alanamu Ward in Ilorin West Local Government Area, said they were fed up with the APC.

Oyedepo, in his remarks, told the visiting zonal executives that no notable member of the party had defected to the APC since 2015.

He described the defection of Alabere and his colleagues as a pointer to the popularity of the PDP in the state.

The visiting Zonal Chairman, Mr Theophilus Dakas, commended the PDP executives in the state for keeping the party intact inspite of its internal crisis.

He appealed to the members to continue to work for the progress of the party through sustained membership drive.

Dakas, who said the party leadership had directed that power should be devolved to the ward level, commended members over the party’s performance in the Nov. 18, 2017 local government election..

He gave an assurance that the era of impunity and imposition of candidates in the PDP was gone, adding that the people would decide who would represent them. (NAN)

The INEC official said one suspect was arrested and undergoing interrogation by the police.

“The general public is advised to be watchful and ensure that they go to only INEC designated registration centers to be captured for the PVC,” Atser added.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL (FREE MARCH PDF => http://bit.ly/2cuJG6M

*VICTORY ASSURED .*

Saturday, March 17th .
Pastor Chris

_*These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world (John 16:33).*_

How comforting and encouraging the words of Jesus in our opening text! The Master knew all about the world and its corrupt systems designed to cause frustration, misery, and failure, but assured us of victory. He said, _*“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer I have overcome the world.”*_

The road to success could be bumpy, with intense trials, challenges, and persecutions, but your victory is assured. 2 Timothy 3:12 says, _*“Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.”*_ But that’s not the end; 1 John 4:4 says, _*“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”*_ So, you see, it doesn’t matter the challenges you face, or the strength of your persecutors; you’ve already overcome them all.

In Christ, we have peace over crises, peace in the face of adversity. That’s why He said, _*“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace…”*_ (John 16:33). All the Lord wants is that you keep your focus on Him, on His Word. In Him is every good thing you could ever need: life, health, joy, peace, victory, and glory forevermore! He wants you to live to your best potentials, and for your joy to be full!

Victory is your birthright, for He has raised you, and made you to sit together with Christ in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6), far above Satan and his cohorts of darkness, and the negative influences of this world (Ephesians 1:21). Therefore, walk in the light of your victory; dominate this world and reign over circumstances.

*CONFESSION*

*I live and walk in victory every day because I’m born of God. I declare that I’m reigning as a king in life in all circumstances in my world, through the Word and the power of the Holy Ghost at work in me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *Romans 8:35-39* Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? [shall] tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. *||*

*||* *1 John 5:4* For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, [even] our faith. *||*

Teacher Arrested For Writing JAMB For His Brother In Abuja
User Avatar Forum: Education
Posted by: Edoman - 03-17-2018, 08:16 AM - No Replies

Timothy Samuel, a school teacher has been arrested by officers of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in the Gwagwalada area of Abuja for impersonating his sibling, Samson Samuel, in the ongoing 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

The school teacher was reportedly caught at the Air Mass Computer Institute in the Madalla area of Niger State by a team comprising operatives of the NSCDC and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board. It was gathered that Timothy’s mother had persuaded him to sit the examination on behalf of his brother, who had taken ill.

The JAMB Supervisor at the Madalla Computer-Based Test Centre, Sakina Tafida, said the suspect evaded screening and sneaked into the examination hall.

“We, however, found that the number of exam slips that we collected after the fingerprint screening was less than the number of candidates in the hall. He actually skipped the fingerprint device and the photograph on the slip he gave us later was that of his brother, Samson,” Tafida said.

The JAMB Registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, who confirmed the arrest, said the mother of the two children was to blame. He said, “Parents need to disassociate themselves from this shameful attitude. It is against any type of parenting that you want to inculcate the spirit of deceit into your children.”

Murder inquiry over Russian's London death

Murder inquiry over Russian's London death
[Image: _100404309_03a9b76e-dcd6-4e38-85bb-ab1db670bcbe.jpg]UK police have launched a murder investigation after the death of Russian businessman Nikolai Glushkov in south-west London.
Mr Glushkov was found dead at his home in New Malden on 12 March.
A post-mortem examination revealed Mr Glushkov, who was 68, died from "compression to the neck".
There is, at this stage, no evidence linking the death to the attempted murder of a former Russian spy and his daughter in Salisbury, police say.
Detectives are retaining an open mind and are appealing for any information that will assist the investigation.
In particular, they are appealing for anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious at or near his home in Clarence Avenue, New Malden, between Sunday 11 March and Monday 12 March to contact them.
Police on Friday continued to guard the home lived in by Mr Glushkov. A blue and a purple tent was erected to cover the front drive of the property, which has been cordoned off along with several adjoining properties either side.
Mr Glushkov is the former deputy director of Russian state airline Aeroflot.
He was jailed in 1999 for five years after being charged with money laundering and fraud.
After being given a suspended sentence for another count of fraud in 2006, he was granted political asylum in the UK in 2010 and became a critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Former PR and advertising executive Lord Bell, who was a close friend of Mr Glushkov, described him as a "very charming, funny, affectionate man who had a troubled past".
Kate Fitzsimmons, an 87-year-old neighbour of Mr Glushkov, said he was "just an ordinary friendly Englishman" who would wave at her across the road.
She said his death and the subsequent police activity was a "big shock".
Mr Glushkov had a close friendship with fellow Russian businessman Boris Berezovsky, who came to the UK in 1999 after falling out with Mr Putin.
[Image: _100453331_nikolai_glushkov_police_get.jpg]Mr Berezovsky was found hanged in the bathroom of his Berkshire home in 2013 and an inquest recorded an open verdict.
Meanwhile, Russia's investigative committee has said it has opened a criminal case investigation into "the murder" of Mr Glushkov and the "attempted murder" of Yulia Skripal.
[Image: _100454128_glushkov_murder_map_640-nc.png]Ms Skripal and her father, the former Russian spy Sergei Skripal, were found unconscious on a bench in Salisbury earlier this month after being exposed to a nerve agent.
The UK government says the Skripals were poisoned with a nerve agent of a type developed by Russia called Novichok, and Prime Minister Theresa May said she believed Moscow was "culpable".
Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson added it was "overwhelmingly likely" that Mr Putin personally ordered the nerve agent attack in Salisbury.
Analysis
By BBC home affairs correspondent Danny Shaw
What is significant about this case is that counter-terrorism police are investigating this murder - normally it would be done by a homicide team.
Scotland Yard says that is being done as a precaution because of his associations - he was a friend of Mr Berezovsky, who died in slightly mysterious circumstances, and Mr Glushkov said before he died he not believe his friend's death was a suicide.
He was also wanted by the Russian Federation. He was on a list of people the British had refused to extradite.
In Russia, he was facing charges including large-scale fraud and embezzling money relating to Aeroflot.
Speaking during a visit to a west London military museum with the Polish foreign minister, Mr Johnson said the UK's "quarrel is with Putin's Kremlin".
"We think it overwhelmingly likely that it was his decision to direct the use of a nerve agent on the streets of the UK, on the streets of Europe, for the first time since the Second World War," he said.
Mr Glushkov's death comes in the same week as Home Secretary Amber Rudd announced that a string of deaths on UK soil are to be reinvestigated by the police and MI5 after claims of Russian involvement.
BuzzFeed News claimed to have evidence of 14 deaths that were actually murders by the Russian state or mafia allies.
In each of the cases, police investigations and inquests did not find evidence of any crime.

Buhari Jittery About Herdsmen But Declared IPOB Terrorists – Soyinka Explode
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 03-16-2018, 10:09 PM - No Replies

Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari for allegedly treating killer herdsmen with kid gloves.

Soyinka, while speaking at the Ripples Nigeria Dialogue in Lagos, on Thursday, charged the president to declare herdsmen terrorists.

“We expect the president to have the courage to declare such monsters as terrorists and enemies of humanity with the same dispatch in which he declared the far less violent, albeit, disruptive IPOB terrorists. We expect a culture of even-handedness”, he said.

“I have always refrained from labelling the herdsmen as Fulani but since they have publicly come out to admit they are responsible for the killings, we can say they are Fulani herdsmen.

“An organisation has been rampaging the nation armed to the teeth and descending on innocent people. Their spokesman appeared on TV, unrepentant, distorting history, calling on a state government to rescind their laws and proceeding to defy such laws.

“They went ahead and threatened continuation of the same acts of degradation. The nation has been placed on the defensive simply because of the failing of governance.

“Have you ever encountered a more cynical rendition of the sequence of events when spokesmen of this same organisation came out to say the killings were taking place because of the laws which was made to stop the killings in the first place?

“I have not heard that the leaders of that group have been summoned the way those who do far less things would have been summoned. Nigeria is not the first country to experience natural disasters but this is not an excuse to take guns to destabilise other peace-loving people in their communities.

“While addressing the victims of the rampage of Fulani herdsmen, the minister of defence asked the victims what they wanted the herdsmen to do when the grazing routes for their cattle were being blocked and that minister is still in Buhari’s cabinet.

“I get impatient when I hear people say that Buhari failed to sympathise with victims in Benue and Taraba. Who needs presidential sympathy? Is it sympathy that will re-order their broken lives? We are talking about security of lives and property and bringing perpetrators to book.

“We expect the government to respond with massive punitive action when the fundamental security of a people is violated. We expect the president to immediately show up at the scene of these disasters and order his troops into action against these arrogant and blood thirsty people.

“When stung by the criticism that the president rather chose to attend a wedding in Kano instead of being present in Dapchi, presidential apologists said the wedding was a needed therapy for the trauma caused by the abduction of the schoolgirls in Dapchi. That statement is blasphemous.

“There were so many formula that would have been adopted to ensure that the couple had their wedding without the accompanying exhibition of lavishness so soon after a national tragedy. The nation was in mourning and Buhari would have told the couple that he was not obliged to be there,” Soyinka said.

Woman Celebrates Her Housemaid Of 13 Years On Her Matriculation (Photos)
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 03-16-2018, 10:06 PM - Replies (1)

Gloria Ernest Samuel, took to Facebook on Wednesday, March 14, to celebrate her housemaid of 13 years, who recently gained admission into a higher institution. Read her post below...

I am proud of us...

On 17th February, 2005, my husband brought her home as my house help. She was smaller than l wanted. I needed a much bigger girl, but the mum could only allow her as the elder sister was elsewhere. The only option was to manage her, but managing meant that l had to nurse her as she was too small to even wash her own clothes, the breakable kitchenwares etc.
It wasn't also easy to raise a child with certain orientations.
But l tried. When the task became too tedious,
I packaged her home, but the father gave us a mind boggling question: if she is your daughter, will you throw her away? Please, train her as yours. I want her different.
As stunning as that question sounded, l thank God that l took that challenge seriously and to my heart.
I teach, I scream, I plead, l appeal and l advice...
To make sure she turns out better than she would.
Sometimes, she makes me furious, laugh, cry, and proud, just like now.
From Primary 2, she had gone through to secondary, made her papers, have trained on computer literacy before going for skill acquisition.
Today, she has moved to a higher level. She is matriculating at Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, and l am so happy that our 13years together is not a waste after all.
She has long ceased to be a maid in my home.
She is now Aunty's Auntie, my little sister, my children's Auntie. And no one knows she is not my sibling.

Uchechi, today is the beginning of a new life for you.
We are happy for you. Sky is your jumping pad.
We pray that you graduate with flying colours. And we continue to pray for financial breakthrough so that you do not suffer any stress concerning your education.
Congratulations, dear. We are super proud of you.

  Mugabe's bare-knuckled challenge to Mnangagwa's legitimacy

Mugabe's bare-knuckled challenge to Mnangagwa's legitimacy

It was, for the most part, an exercise in bitter retrospection.
Zimbabwe's former President Robert Mugabe spent much of his first press conference since being ousted reflecting on the illegality of last November's "coup d'etat," and on the personal sense of betrayal that clearly still preoccupies the 94-year-old.
But while some Zimbabweans, and historians, may find much to ponder in Mr Mugabe's enduring sense of victimhood, and in the dramatic details he provided about his allies' escape, under gunfire, from Harare, the real question for the country is what - if anything - this carefully choreographed media intervention means for the future.
Above all, it means working out what Mr Mugabe meant by the phrase "we must undo this disgrace" - in reference to the coup - and whether anyone will now take him seriously.
It is easy, and tempting, to conclude that Zimbabwe has moved on; that Mr Mugabe's tetchy claims that the man who ousted him, Emmerson Mnangagwa, is "improper… illegal" as nothing more than sour grapes, to be quietly ignored by a nation, and an international community, that has overwhelmingly accepted the legitimacy of the new president. H
is press conference however has not endeared him to many of his detractors.
"A cruel old dictator seeking public sympathy. Not from me," said newspaper publisher Trevor Ncube on social media.
"This man destroyed our lives, murdered thousands and… today he appears on foreign media which he banned and claims he must be invited to a transitional process," scoffed the outspoken campaigner Pastor Evans Mawarire, using the hashtag #RetireInPeaceBob.
And yet, Mr Mugabe's strident claims that Zimbabwe remains a constitutional delinquent - that the criminality of the coup cannot simply be wished away - will hold true for some and will surely echo, albeit faintly, through the chaotic politics of a country now preparing for national elections in the coming months.
[Image: _100444241_gettyimages-878431526.jpg]It's worth remembering that, despite the sudden unity displayed by the governing Zanu-PF as it rallied behind Mr Mnangagwa and turned its back on Mr Mugabe, last year's military coup was prompted by deep factional battles within the party, and - not unlike South Africa's ANC and its new leadership - those divisions will not vanish simply because a new man is in charge.
A new party, the National Patriotic Front (NPF), has emerged in Zimbabwe as a vehicle for those in the G40 faction of Zanu-PF.
These were ambitious figures - who claimed to speak for the youth - who rallied behind Mr Mugabe's wife, Grace, and briefly succeeded in ousting Mr Mnangagwa.
And yet, the NPF seems unlikely to make significant electoral inroads in such a short time. And Mr Mugabe's implicit endorsement of the party may not prove to be the vote winner that he would like to imagine.
"They're just a bunch of useless, irrelevant individuals, grandstanding," said war veteran's leader Chris Mutsvangwa, of those, like former ministers Saviour Kasukuwere and Jonathan Moyo, who now appear to be working behind the scenes with the NPF.
"This is fatuous nonsense from an over-indulged old man."
[Image: _99441940_afp.jpg]in the meantime, most Zimbabweans are preoccupied with more mundane issues, as they cling to the hope that President Mnangagwa can deliver on his promise to revive the economy, capitalise on an anticipated rush of foreign investment, pay salaries, and bring a once prosperous nation back to its feet.
At his luxury villa on the edge of Harare, Mr Mugabe faced the foreign press from behind a grand desk, seeking, it seemed, to project the illusion of power.
He cut a forlorn figure, as he offered to help return Zimbabwe to the path of constitutionality, but stipulated that "I must be invited, properly invited, for that discussion."
He may have to wait a while.
In the meantime, perhaps the most perceptive comment he offered to the visiting journalists came as he ended his prepared remarks and looked up from his notes.
"Currently… I am isolated," he said, with some understatement.

Are 'cryonic technicians' the key to immortality?
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories

Technology is changing the way we work and the jobs we do. Will artificial intelligence and robots relieve us of humdrum tasks, making our working lives easier, or will they take our jobs away altogether? As part of a new series called the Future of Work, we look at the cryonics technician - who tries to help their clients cheat death.
Are you open minded about the future? Do you have a medical background and can you complete tasks under time pressure?
Are you comfortable working in the presence of a dead body?
This is not the job description for a Victorian grave snatcher.
Instead, it's the ideal attributes of a cryonics technician; someone who preserves the bodies of the recently deceased in the hope they will one day be revived.

Advocates describe it as an "ambulance to the future". They say that as medical science develops, these technicians could become a common sight in our hospitals, purporting to offer believers a second chance at life.
However, most highly doubt it will work.
Buying time
Cryonics seeks to freeze someone after they have legally died in order to keep their body and mind as undamaged as possible. This aims to buy the patient time until future medical science can bring them back to life, and cure them of whatever it is they died from.
[Image: _100322326_cryonics_institue_cryostats.jpg]As soon as the patient dies, the clock is ticking to start the procedure. The heart has stopped pumping and the brain is no longer receiving oxygen, meaning within minutes it will lose the ability to make new memories, and soon after that the cells will begin to die. This means the technician must get to work immediately after the individual is declared legally dead, cooling their body in an ice bath in order to slow down the process of degeneration.
After this blood is drained from the body and replaced with cryoprotectant agents - similar to antifreeze - in an attempt to stop ice crystals forming in the blood cells.
The body is then placed in a storage tank and brought down to the temperature of liquid nitrogen (-196C) in an attempt to preserve the organs and tissue.
Necessary skills
While cryonics has been practised since the 1970s, only the US and Russia actually have small storage facilities.
In the US state of Michigan, the Cryonics Institute has about 2,000 living people signed up, and 165 patients who have already gone through the process.
[Image: _100338451_dennis_kowalski02.jpg]Dennis Kowalski is the institute's president and performs some of the cryonic procedures. By day, he is a paramedic.
"The training to become a paramedic is perfect to become a standby in cryonics," he says.
"You also need someone with a funeral director's licence (because you are still legally handling dead bodies), experience running a perfusion pump, and basic surgical skills."
Future role
The Cryonics Institute is a co-operative with just three full-time members of staff, but Mr Kowalski thinks this will grow as medical science evolves.
So far just 5,000 people around the globe have signed up but the numbers are growing so funeral homes may start to offer this as an option, he says.
"Artificial intelligence, genetic modification, stem cell engineering - all these fields are vindicating what we are doing, which is giving people the greatest opportunity possible."
[Image: _100339066_anderssandberg.jpg]One of the 5,000 is Dr Anders Sandberg, a senior research fellow at Oxford University's Future of Humanity Institute.
He is on the board of the Brain Preservation Foundation and has elected to have only his head preserved after death, even though he estimates a success rate of just 3%.
Like Mr Kowalski, he argues the skills needed to become a cryonics technician are already in use in many medical professions.
"Right now cryonics feels a little too cold or impersonal and it relies on the admission that it is uncertain, but I do think it will grow.
"In the future, wouldn't having a cryogenicist at the hospital make sense? When you do heart or brain surgery you lower the body temperature to buy more time and I imagine that over time we will start doing more low temperature surgery.
"This is a job that you might want to do if you started out as a nurse or a perfusion specialist. It would not be a big leap from a technical standpoint, only from a social one, as it's using arguments from within medicine.
"There's a lot of resistance to overcome but from a practical perspective it makes sense and might save us from a lot of wasteful medicine."
Cryonics and cryogenics
Although they sound similar, cryonics and cryogenics are viewed very differently by the scientific community.
Cryonics specifically relates to the preservation of the human body after death. Most supporters of the process admit they do not know if or when the technology will exist to revive people, or whether the techniques used to prepare the body for storage will have worked.
[Image: _100339067_frozeneggs.jpg]Cryogenics, on the other hand, has many applications in today's society. It involves the freezing of matter at temperatures of -150C or lower. In medicine, this includes the freezing of embryos, eggs, sperm, skin, and tissue in order to preserve them for future use.
Clive Coen, professor of neuroscience at King's College, London, suggests applying validated cryogenic techniques to the brain or whole body is doomed to failure.
That's because the application of antifreeze during the preservation process fails to reach all of the brain, and it would be impossible to defrost each part of the body at the same time, he says
"Advocates of cryonics are naive in comparing their wishful thinking with the successes achieved in storing loosely packed cells - such as sperm - at low temperatures.
"And they shouldn't forget that any resuscitation process that isn't instantaneous will merely set the process of decay running again."
[Image: _100339069_gettyimages-165998083.jpg]But Prof Coen says cryogenics is an exciting field ripe for expansion.
Although the brain is far too complex, cryogenicists are currently working on freezing other organs. This could revolutionise the process of transplantation, which would no longer have to take place immediately.
"People are tremendously hard at work in this field trying to store organs such as the kidney, and even the heart on a long term basis. That would be a tremendous boon to our health and wellbeing," Prof Coen says.
"But a whole body? Forget it."

Terminally ill teen won historic ruling to preserve body
[Image: _92484862_m8850025-cryongenic_preservation-spl-1.jpg]A 14-year-old girl who wanted her body to be preserved, in case she could be cured in the future, won a historic legal fight shortly before her death.
The girl, who was terminally ill with a rare cancer, was supported by her mother in her wish to be cryogenically preserved - but not by her father.
She wrote to the judge explaining that she wanted "to live longer" and did not want "to be buried underground".
The girl, who died in October, has been taken to the US and preserved there.

 • A High Court judge ruled that the girl's mother should be allowed to decide what happened to the body.
The details of her case have just been released.
The teenager, who lived in the London area and cannot be named, used the internet to investigate cryonics during the last months of her life.

The teenager's letter to the judge
"I have been asked to explain why I want this unusual thing done.
"I am only 14 years old and I don't want to die but I know I am going to die.
"I think being cryopreserved gives me a chance to be cured and woken up - even in hundreds of years' time.
"I don't want to be buried underground.
"I want to live and live longer and I think that in the future they may find a cure for my cancer and wake me up.
"I want to have this chance.
"This is my wish."

The judge, Mr Justice Peter Jackson, visited the girl in hospital and said he was moved by "the valiant way in which she was facing her predicament".
His ruling, he said, was not about the rights or wrongs of cryonics but about a dispute between parents over the disposal of their daughter's body.
It was brought to court for the first time on 26 September and the judge made his decision on 6 October.
Future hope
Cryonics is the process of preserving a whole body in the hope that resuscitation and a cure are possible in the distant future.
It is a controversial procedure and no-one yet knows if it is possible to bring people back to life.
There are facilities in the US and Russia where bodies can be preserved in liquid nitrogen at very low temperatures (less than -130C) - but not in the UK.
The cost of preserving the body for an infinite amount of time in this case was £37,000, which was paid by the girl's mother's family.

[Image: p04gw43b.jpg]Chrissie de Rivaz, from Cornwall, has decided to be cryogenically preserved after her death - as has her husband John - and she has committed £28,000 to the plan.
"I can't see any reason to just send me up the flume and I hate the idea of being buried in the ground, so why not take this chance to come back again?"

Simon Woods, an expert in medical ethics from Newcastle University, thinks the whole idea is science fiction.
He said: "The diagnosis of death is that death is irreversible, and for people who seek cryopreservation, they've died of a serious disease, in this case it's cancer.
"The person is in a pretty bad state of health to begin with, and there's absolutely no scientific evidence that the person could be brought back to life."
'Mr Hero Peter Jackson'
The girl's solicitor, Zoe Fleetwood, told BBC Radio 4's Today programme it had been a "great privilege" to be involved with the case of an "extraordinary individual".
When the girl was told about the court's decision, she had been "delighted" and referred to the judge as "Mr Hero Peter Jackson", her lawyer said.
"It was a difficult process. Some might say the girl's mother's attention was directed towards that procedure rather than grieving at this time," Ms Fleetwood added.
"But her daughter had passed away, the procedure needed to be carried out."
The case had not set a precedent for future cases around cryopreservation, she said.
Family conflict
The girls' parents were divorced and the girl had not had any contact with her father for six years before she became ill.
While the girl's mother supported her wishes to have her body preserved, her father was against it.
He said: "Even if the treatment is successful and she is brought back to life in let's say 200 years, she may not find any relative and she might not remember things and she may be left in a desperate situation given that she is only 14 years old and will be in the United States of America."
[Image: _92495544_b2371137-2880-40b7-9b1e-bfee97073e1c.jpg]Although he then changed his mind, saying he respected his daughter's decision, he subsequently wanted to see his daughter's body after her death - something to which she would not agree.
The judge said the girl's application was the only one of its kind to have come before a court in England and Wales - and probably anywhere else.
Need for regulation
Mr Justice Jackson said the case was an example of science posing new questions to lawyers.
The girl died peacefully in October knowing that her remains would be preserved, but the judge said there had been problems on the day she died.
He said hospital staff and bosses had expressed concerns about the way the process of preparing her body for cryogenic preservation had been handled.
This was carried out by a voluntary group in the UK before her body was flown to the US for storage.
He suggested that ministers should consider "proper regulation" of cryonic preservation for the future.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Friday arraigned Bellview and First Nation airlines with an alleged fraud of N1.7bn.

Joined as the first defendant in the charge was the Managing Director of First Nation Airlines, Mr. Kayode Odukoya.

The airlines and Odukoya were arraigned on four counts before Justice Mojisola Dada of the Ikeja Special Offences Court.
The charges border on forgery, use of forged documents, perjury and stealing.

The EFCC, in the charges, alleged that the defendants forged the Memorandum of Loss of Lagos State Certificate of Occupancy registered as No. 33, at page 33, Volume 1011 at the Lagos State Land Registry, Alausa, Lagos.

According to the EFCC, the allegedly forged document was in respect of a property located at No. 29 Oduduwa Street, GRA, Ikeja.

The EFCC claimed that the defendants forged the document “in order that the document be acted upon as genuine.”
Odukoya was accused of dishonestly converting to his own a sum of N1.7bn belonging to Skye Bank Plc.

The prosecutor, Mr. M.S. Usman, told the court that the defendants acted contrary to sections 85, 86(1), 278(1)(b), 285, 361(1)(a)(b), 363 and 364(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.

But the defendants pleaded not guilty.

The judge ordered the remand of Odukoya in the custody of the EFCC.

She adjourned till March 26, 2018, to hear Odukoya’s bail application.

Few days ago, a police officer with the Special Anti Robbery Squad SARS allegedly kiled the manager of BB Umar Livestock, popularly known as Nababa in Ganaja Village area, an outskirt of Lokoja in Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The trigger-happy Police Officer, Sgt. Ibrahim Nassarawa who killed the unarmed Ram seller, Ibrahim Ali Mbaba in Lokoja, was paraded by the Acting Police Commissioner, Kogi State Command, Ali Janga.

It was gathered that trouble started when some angry mob allegedly seized the motor bike of a SARS officer who allegedly hit a young girl.

It was also revealed that when residents of the area were appealing to the officer to convey the girl for treatment, he refused but rather called his other colleagues who are also SARS operatives.

The matter got worsened when men of the SARS arrived the scene and took side in support of their colleagues, an action that sparked the anger of residents of Ganaja, who are natives.

In the ensuing argument, there was a shootout, with a bullet allegedly hitting the manager of BB Umar, who was said to be seated in his shop.

The death of the manager further infuriated the locals in Ganaja, leading to a pandemonium.

Four teen inventors changing the world
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Gimbiya - 03-16-2018, 05:45 PM - No Replies

They’re known for their mood swings, social media addiction and dubious fashion choices. But some teenagers break the mould. A new generation of precocious youths is solving the problems of today with ambitious, ground-breaking tech.
So in case you didn’t already feel like an underachiever, here’s our shortlist of four incredible teenagers already reshaping the world we live in.
Keiana Cavé, 18, New Orleans
Cavé’s journey of invention began with the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, which unfolded in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010. It led to the largest maritime slick in human history, consisting of 4.9 million barrels (210 million gallons, or 780,000 cubic metres) of oil in one of the most ecologically important bodies of water on the planet.
In the immediate aftermath, baby dolphins began dying at six times the usual rate, while fishermen and scientists reported “disturbing numbers” of deformed sea creatures including shrimp with missing eyes and eye sockets, and fish with oozing sores and lesions.
Watching the news reports on TV, Cavé instantly felt that there must be some hidden environmental damage. She decided to focus her attention on discovering what was really going on.

The Deepwater Horizon accident caused horrendous damage to the ecosystem in the Gulf of Mexico (Credit: Getty Images)
At 15, the teenager began studying what happens to oil when it’s left on the ocean’s surface and discovered that when it’s hit by UV rays from the Sun, it reacts to form chemicals that are carcinogenic.
Today she’s turned her work into two scientific papers and two patents, for chemical methods of detecting the carcinogens. She’s also launched a startup, Mare, which is working towards a way to disperse them so that they aren’t as damaging. Oh, and her research has just received $1.2m (£860,000) in funding.
Rifath Shaarook, 18, India
When Shaarook was a child, he’d spend hours staring through the lens of a telescope with his dad. Sadly Mohamed Farook, a local professor and scientist, passed away when his son was in primary school.
But Shaarook’s passion for space lived on. As a young teenager he joined Space Kidz India, an organisation dedicated to nurturing young people with a passion for technology. He formed a six-person team and dedicated the next four years to making a satellite, under the guidance of the organisation’s founder and director.
Every night, the teenagers would discuss their plans on video calls, often until 4:30 in the morning. Eventually they invented KalamSat: the lightest satellite in the world.
At just 64g, it weighs about as much as a large battery. It’s essentially a 3.8cm-wide cube made from 3D-printed plastic, reinforced with carbon fibres. It contains several different kinds of sensor, including those to measure temperature, magnetism, altitude and any strains on the structure as it hurtles through space. It also has its own power source and a small computer, to turn on all the sensors at the right moment and store their data.
The plan was to get KalamSat into sub-orbit, to test the performance of reinforced plastic in micro gravity. Lightweight materials that can withstand the stresses of space travel are extremely useful, since it costs around $10,000 (£7,191) to launch a pound (450g) of any substance into space. After reaching its destination, it would spend just 12 minutes collecting data, before falling back down to Earth and landing in the sea.
On 22 June 2017, the device was successfully launched at Nasa’s Wallops Island facility in Virginia – the very same spot that its namesake, famous rocket scientist and former president APJ Abdul Kalam, once visited over half a century earlier.
Hannah Herbst, 17, Florida
Herbst was inspired to invent at the age of 15 by her then-nine-year-old pen pal, who lives in Ethiopia and did not have access to lights. This is surprisingly common: there are 1.3 billion people alive today without electricity. So this student came up with the Beacon (Bringing Electricity Access to Countries through Ocean Energy), which captures energy directly from ocean waves.
Herbst’s thinking was that populations tend to settle around bodies of water; about 40% of the world's population lives within 100km (62 miles) of the coast and only 10% lives further than 10km (6.2 miles) away from a source of freshwater that you don’t have to dig for, such as a river or lake.
The technology consists of a hollow plastic tube, with a propeller at one end and a hydroelectric generator at the other. As tidal energy drives the propeller, it’s converted into useable energy by the generator. After designing a prototype turbine as a computer model, Herbst 3D-printed a prototype which she tested in an intercoastal waterway.
The Beacon can create electricity from almost any water source (Credit: Beacon)
If the design were to be scaled up, Herbst has calculated that Beacon could charge three car batteries simultaneously in an hour. She suggests that the energy generated could be used to power water purification technologies, or blood centrifuges at hospitals in the developing world.
The invention won the Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge in 2015, among numerous other awards, and Herbst is currently studying for a degree in computer engineering while she completes high school.
Julian Rios Cantu, 18, Mexico
This inventor was just 13 years old when his mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. He watched in horror as the tumour swelled from the size of a grain of rice to a golf ball-sized lump in less than six months. She ended up losing both her breasts, though eventually she was cancer free.
Just a few years later, Cantu set out to protect others from the disease. Together with three friends, he formed the company Higia Technologies, which is developing a wearable device that may be able to detect the early signs.
The prototype EVA bra consists of sensors that can be attached to a normal bra, and may need to be worn for just one hour every week to work. The idea is to look for changes in skin temperature and elasticity, which are among many known signs of the disease. After each use, data is sent to the company’s app, and artificial intelligence algorithms use it to calculate the person’s risk.
The EVA bra may need to be worn for only an hour a week (Credit: EVA)
The device has already raised $20,000 (£14,300) of funding by winning the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards, but it still looks to be a long way off production. It hasn’t yet gone through clinical trials and similar technologies have proved unreliable in the past.
However, if the project succeeds, it could help save millions of lives. Nearly 1.7 million new cases of breast cancer were diagnosed in 2012 and the same year, it led to over half a million deaths. For treatment to be successful, early detection is crucial.
Today’s teenage inventors are part of a long tradition. In fact, many of the world’s most prolific brains started young – coming up with televisiontelephones and trampolines, as well as braillecalculatorspopsicles and ear muffsbefore they reached their 20th birthdays.
So while it’s true that all four students are considerably more wide-eyed and fresh-faced than their adult colleagues, make no mistake – any one of them could be the next Thomas Edison or Elon Musk.

Malaysian 'snake-handling celebrity' dies of cobra bite
[Image: _92499844_abuzarinsnake2.jpg]A Malaysian man who became famous for his snake-handling skills has died after being bitten by a cobra.
Abu Zarin Hussin, a firefighter, first shot to fame after British tabloids published a story incorrectly identifying him as a Thai man who'd allegedly married his pet snake.
Mr Hussin had trained other firefighters on how to handle snakes.
But he was admitted to hospital on Monday after being bitten a cobra during a snake-catching operation.
According to local news outlet The Star, the 33-year-old who lived in the state of Pahang, often taught other firemen how to identify different snake species and ways to capture them without having to kill. He had also participated in television programme Asia's Got Talent, where he pulled off the daring act of "kissing" a snake.
[Image: _100443501_istock-489809377.jpg]In 2016, a story was published in Thai media - and later in several UK tabloids - naming Mr Hussin as a Thai man who'd married a snake, believing it to be his "reincarnated girlfriend".
The stories used pictures from Mr Hussin's social media which showed him playfully spending time with snakes.
Mr Hussin, who kept four snakes at home to better understand their behaviour, told reporters: "They used my photos and started making up stories, saying that I married a snake."
He later told the BBC he was "very disappointed" by the fake reports.

Jacob Zuma: Former South African president faces corruption trial
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Gimbiya - 03-16-2018, 05:21 PM - No Replies

[Image: _100444788_zuma.jpg]South Africa's former President, Jacob Zuma, is to face prosecution for 16 charges of corruption, Chief Prosecutor Shaun Abrahams has confirmed.

Mr Abrahams said he believed there were "reasonable prospects of a successful prosecution".
The charges - which Mr Zuma denies - include counts of fraud, racketeering and money laundering.
Mr Zuma, 75, was forced to resign as president last month by his party, the ruling African National Congress (ANC).
He was facing his ninth no-confidence vote in parliament before he left office.
The charges relate to a 30bn rand ($2.5bn; £1.7bn) government arms deal in the late 1990s, before he became president.
Mr Zuma is alleged to have sought bribes from a French arms company to support an extravagant lifestyle. His financial adviser at the time was found guilty of soliciting those bribes in 2005 and Mr Zuma was later sacked as deputy president.
He now faces one charge of racketeering, two charges of corruption, one charge of money laundering and 12 of fraud.

Shaun Abrahams, head of the National Prosecuting Authority, said a trial court was the appropriate place for the matter to be decided.
He dismissed representations made by Mr Zuma asking that the charges be dropped.
The former ANC chief had argued that the charges against him were characterised by misconduct, "irrational behaviour" and media leaks on the part of prosecutors, Mr Abrahams said.
Mr Zuma has always denied the allegations against him.
Long court battle awaits
As Jacob Zuma is no longer president, he cannot use state resources to support his defence.
But let's not get too ahead of ourselves - Mr Zuma is known for fighting every single battle right until the end.
Therefore, expect some pushback even after this heavy blow.
He is, by law, allowed to challenge this decision. In other words we might see a delay before any trial actually starts.
And even when the trial begins, it will be long and drawn out.
But for now his political enemies, particularly the opposition, are celebrating that he is closer to facing a judge in court than ever before.
Mr Zuma weathered an array of corruption allegations during his nine years in power.
In 2016, a report by South Africa's anti-corruption watchdog alleged that the billionaire Gupta family had exploited their ties with him to win state contracts.
Both the Guptas and Mr Zuma deny any wrongdoing.
The same year, South Africa's highest court ruled that Mr Zuma had violated the constitution when he failed to repay government money spent on his private home.
An anti-corruption body found he had spent $23m (£15m) on refurbishments including a swimming pool and an amphitheatre. He has since repaid some of the money.
Zuma's corruption charges: A brief history
 • First filed in 2005 when Mr Zuma's financial adviser, Schabir Shaik, was jailed for fraud and corruption.
 • Mr Zuma went on trial in 2006 but the case collapsed when the prosecution said it was not ready to proceed more than a year after he was charged.
 • South Africa's National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) controversially dropped the charges in 2009, shortly before he won the presidency.
 • Political opponents campaigned tirelessly for him to face trial.
 • South Africa's High Court reinstated the charges in 2016 and Mr Zuma lost a Supreme Court appeal to overturn them.
 • The country's chief prosecutor, Shaun Abrahams, has now decided to pursue a case against the former president.
The controversial arms deal
In 1999, the South African government announced its largest-ever post-apartheid arms deal, signing contracts totalling 30bn rand ($5bn; £2.5bn) to modernise its national defence force
The deal involved companies from Germany, Italy, Sweden, the UK, France and South Africa
Allegations of bribery over the deal dogged the governments of both President Jacob Zuma and and one of his predecessors, Thabo Mbeki.
Schabir Shaik was found guilty in 2005 of trying to solicit a bribe from Thint, the local subsidiary of French arms firm Thales, on behalf of Mr Zuma. He was released on parole on health grounds after serving just over two years
Another official, Tony Yengeni, who was chairman of parliament's defence committee at the time of the deal and chief whip of the ANC, was convicted of fraud in 2003. He was also freed on parole after serving five months of a four-year sentence.

Jacob Zuma - the survivor whose nine lives ran out

Jacob Zuma - the survivor whose nine lives ran out
[Image: _89021935_89021934.jpg]Jacob Zuma is the most colourful and controversial president South Africa has had since white-minority rule ended in 1994.
He has been a politician of nine lives, surviving a series of scandals which would have surely ended anyone else's career.
But Mr Zuma, the man born into poverty who went into exile to fight apartheid before rising to become "the people's president", could only hold on for so long.
No longer leader of the ruling African National Congress (ANC), those charges of corruption - always vehemently denied - caught up with him in the end.
He was facing his ninth vote of no-confidence in parliament before he left office.
For many years, it was unwise to write Mr Zuma off: His Zulu name, Gedleyihlekisa, means the one who smiles while grinding his enemies.
[Image: _99891886_6b6de216-5fd7-480c-b975-6b80fa638fa0.jpg]He did not go without a fight but carried on long after the writing was on the wall, reportedly negotiating his departure.
After all, long before he became President Zuma, and "Nkandla" and "state capture" had entered the everyday lexicon of South Africans, his lawyers were already busy.
Mr Zuma's bid for the presidency was written off before he had even really started.

In the run-up to the 2009 election, he was simultaneously battling allegations of rape and corruption.
He was acquitted of raping an HIV-positive family friend in 2006 - although the fact he told the court he had showered in order to avoid catching HIV would continue to haunt him throughout his presidency.

The corruption case, however, proved harder to shake off, even after it was controversially dropped by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) just weeks before the elections which saw him become president.

But the charges of money-laundering and racketeering, stemming from a controversial $5bn arms deal signed in 1999, refused to go away. In 2017 the supreme court ruled that 18 counts of corruption should be reinstated.
He always denied the charges, and said he would resign if found guilty of wrongdoing.
'The people's president'
It was his charisma which swept Mr Zuma to power in 2009. His supporters saw his popular touch as a refreshing contrast to then President Thabo Mbeki, who was seen as a rather aloof president.
"He is a man who listens; he doesn't take the approach of an intellectual king," said one unnamed supporter, in an apparent swipe at Mr Mbeki, whose allies were accused of spearheading Mr Zuma's prosecution after he had wrested control of the ANC in 2007.
Mr Zuma's modest upbringing and promotion of traditional family values are also seen as a major factor in his long-lived popularity among many poor South Africans, especially in rural areas.
[Image: _89026942_89026941.jpg]The 75-year-old is a proud polygamist - following a Zulu tradition - and currently has four wives. He has been married six times in total, and has 21 children. One of his wives, Mozambican Kate Mantsho, took her own life in 2000.
However, he is also known for his infidelity and has fathered a child with another woman.
But it wasn't long until people were questioning his carefully crafted "people's president" image. By 2013, it lay in tatters following the upgrading of his residence in the rural area of Nkandla, in northern KwaZulu-Natal, using state funds.
By the time of the memorial for South Africa's first black president, Nelson Mandela, in December of that year, ANC supporters were openly heckling and booing him in front of foreign dignitaries - including US President Barack Obama.
"He is eating when we are hungry," one protester said, capturing the public anger over the Nkandla upgrade, which came complete with cattle enclosure, amphitheatre, swimming pool, visitor centre and chicken run.
Mr Zuma has since paid back the overspend.

Zuma's legal woes:
[Image: _97250170_zuma1.jpg]GETTY IMAGES

 • 2005: Charged with corruption over multi-billion dollar 1999 arms deal - charges dropped shortly before he becomes president in 2009
 • 2016: Court orders he should be charged with 18 counts of corruption over the deal - he has appealed
 • 2005: Charged with raping family friend - acquitted in 2006
 • 2016: Court rules he breached his oath of office by using government money to upgrade private home in Nkandla - he has repaid the money
 • 2017: Public protector said he should appoint judge-led inquiry into allegations he profiteered from relationship with wealthy Gupta family - he denies allegations, as have the Guptas
 • 2018: Zuma approves inquiry
Three years later, South Africa's highest court ruled that he had violated the constitution by failing to repay the government for money used on upgrading his private residence.

The president apologised to South Africans for the "frustration and confusion" caused by the scandal and has repaid the money.
But the Nkandla controversy was destined to be overtaken by a scandal of even larger proportions: State capture.
Focus soon turned to Mr Zuma's relationship with the wealthy Indian-born Gupta family amid allegations they had used it to influence cabinet appointments and obtain lucrative government contracts.
Both Mr Zuma and the Guptas have denied the allegation, but the ANC ordered an investigation into what its secretary-general Gwede Mantashe has called the "corporate capture" of government.
In January 2018, Mr Zuma approved a judge-led inquiry into the allegations.
Humble beginnings
The scene of one of his greatest scandals was also the place of his birth. Mr Zuma was born in Nkandla on 12 April 1942. Brought up by his widowed mother, he had no formal schooling.
Later, aged 17, he would join the ANC, becoming an active member of its military wing, Umkhonto We Sizwe, in 1962.

Zuma's wives:
[Image: _89026467_dlamini.jpg]s a potential successor to Mr Zuma

 • Gertrude Sizakele Khumalo (married in 1973)
 • Nompumelelo Ntuli (2008)
 • Thobeka Madiba (2010)
 • Gloria Bongi Ngema (2012)

Ex-wives:

 • Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma (married in 1972; divorced in 1998)
 • Kate Mantsho (married in 1976; died in 2000)

He was convicted of conspiring to overthrow the apartheid government and imprisoned for 10 years on the notorious Robben Island, alongside Nelson Mandela.
Mr Zuma is said to have helped keep up morale among the incarcerated ANC grandees with songs and impromptu theatre - it was that comical nature which endeared him to ordinary South Africans before his elevation to the presidency.
After being freed from prison, Mr Zuma left South Africa, living first in Mozambique, then Zambia, as he rose through the ANC ranks to the executive committee.
He became one of the first leaders to return home in 1990 - when the ban on the ANC was removed - to take part in negotiations with the white-minority government.
While trying to oust Mr Mbeki, he enjoyed strong support among trade unionists and the communist party - an ANC ally - as they believed he would redistribute South Africa's wealth in favour of the poor.
But under Mr Zuma, the economy remained moribund and the unemployment rate rose to about 28%, while almost daily protests were held by people demanding better basic services such as housing, schools, water and electricity.
And after he had been in power for just a few years, many of his erstwhile allies, such as firebrand youth leader Julius Malema, dropped him, accusing the man known as "JZ" of not doing enough to help the poor.
[Image: _89027219_89027218.jpg]Of course, there have been victories for Mr Zuma.
As president he won over many critics and activists when he announced a major overhaul to the country's Aids policy in December 2010 - this has seen a drastic increase of the roll-out of life-saving anti-retroviral (ARV) drugs.
South Africa has an estimated five million people living with HIV - more than any other country.
Ridiculed
His former ally Mr Malema, and his Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party, were behind many of the attempts to topple the president.
And after his ex-wife, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma - widely seen as the continuity candidate - failed in her bid to succeed him as leader of the ANC, losing to Cyril Ramaphosa in December 2017, they appeared to smell blood.
A ninth motion of no-confidence was filed days before Mr Zuma was due to give the annual State of the Nation address in February 2018.
Meanwhile, Mr Ramaphosa - favourite to follow in Mr Zuma's footsteps - and the party's top brass, had been meeting, apparently preparing to unseat Mr Zuma and shake the party free of corruption allegations ahead of the 2019 election.
In the end, what many South Africans had wanted for years finally happened.

Emirates air hostess dies after fall from plane in Uganda
[Image: _100444248_gettyimages-474783186.jpg]A flight attendant who fell from the emergency door of a parked aeroplane in Uganda's Entebbe airport has died, the BBC has learned.
The woman, whose nationality has not been revealed, was rushed to Kisubi hospital 16km (10 miles) away but died soon after, a spokesperson said.
Reports say the Emirates Airline hostess was preparing the flight for boarding when the incident happened.
Uganda's aviation authorities say they have launched an investigation.
It said in a statement that the flight attendant "appeared to have opened the emergency door" and unfortunately "fell off an aircraft that had safely landed and parked".

Kisubi hospital's spokesperson Edward Zabonna told the BBC that the crew member had injuries "all over her face and knees".
He said that she had been "unconscious but alive" when she arrived at the hospital on Wednesday evening but died soon after.
News agency AFP quotes a statement from Emirates Airline as saying: "A member of our cabin crew unfortunately fell from an open door while preparing the aircraft for boarding".

The Dubai-based airline promised its "full cooperation" with the investigation.

Irrfan Khan: Bollywood actor has rare tumour
[Image: _90179430_gettyimages-541202074.jpg]Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan has revealed on Twitter that he has been diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour.
The rare illness affects the cells that release hormones into the bloodstream. Mr Khan did not give any further details of his condition.
He had tweeted on 6 March that he was suffering from a "rare disease" but did not say what it was.
Khan, 51, has acted in more than 100 films including Bollywood hits Piku, Maqbool, Haasil and Paan Singh Tomar.
His English language films include Life Of Pi, Slumdog Millionaire and The Amazing Spider-Man.
He took to Twitter on Friday to talk about his illness. Hi
s wife, Sutapa Sikdar, had said in a Facebook post on 10 March that, "My best friend and my partner is a 'warrior' he is fighting every obstacle with tremendous grace and beauty."
Health experts say neuroendocrine tumours can develop in many different organs in the body and can be cancerous or non-cancerous.
Some tumours can cause abnormally large amounts of hormones to enter the bloodstream and cause symptoms such as heart problems, changes in blood pressure or cramps.
Some neuroendocrine tumours can be treated through surgery or chemotherapy.

Khan is India's best-known international actor and has also featured in a wide range of well-received roles in Bollywood and independent Hindi films.
In 2013, he won India's National Film Award for his leading role in Paan Singh Tomar, a biopic about a top athlete who becomes a bandit.
He has also won the Viewers' Choice Award at the Cannes Film Festival for his portrayal of a lonely accountant who mistakenly receives a lunchbox intended for a colleague in the 2013 film The Lunchbox.
It was also the only Indian film to be selected for competition at the London Film Festival that year.

Syria war: Thousands flee twin offensives in Afrin and Ghouta

Syria war: Thousands flee twin offensives in Afrin and Ghouta
[Image: p061bv75.jpg]
As many as 50,000 people have fled separate offensives against rebel forces in northern and southern Syria in recent days, activists say.
Russian air strikes reportedly killed 31 people in the Eastern Ghouta outside Damascus on Friday, after 20,000 people left the region.
In the northern town of Afrin, where 30,000 people have fled, Turkish shelling killed at least 18 people.
Seven years of war have driven nearly 12 million Syrians from their homes.
At least 6.1 million are internally displaced while another 5.6 million have fled abroad.
More than 400,000 are believed to have been killed or are missing, presumed dead, since the uprising against President Bashar al-Assad began in March 2011.
The foreign ministers of Turkey, Russia and Iran - three countries closely involved in the conflict - have met in the Kazakh capital Astana to prepare for a summit on Syria in Istanbul next month.

How serious is the situation near Damascus?
Friday's deaths in the Eastern Ghouta town of Kafr Batna were reported by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based monitoring group.
Despite international calls for a ceasefire, there has been no let-up in the offensive and the Syrian army is now pushing into densely populated areas.
[Image: _100445893_mediaitem100445891.jpg]Residents have told BBC News there is intense street fighting between rebels and government soldiers in some parts of the enclave.
Humanitarian corridors controlled by the Syrian government reportedly allowed about 4,000 more people to leave the enclave on Friday despite the fighting.
The Russian defence ministry has been streaming what it says is live video of the checkpoints.
According to the Observatory, nearly 20,000 civilians fled rebel-held areas in the region on Thursday.
The UN children's agency Unicef is sending representatives to assess the needs of evacuees in temporary shelters in Damascus.
A Unicef spokeswoman said its current response plan could deal with up to 50,000 people.
Pro-government forces are believed to have recaptured 70% of the region after three weeks of intense fighting against rebels there.
[Image: _100445494_damascus_ghouta_control_16_mar_map640-nc.png]
The crushing of the rebel enclave outside Damascus would be a major victory for President Assad.
What is happening on the Turkish border?
Afrin, a town populated mainly by ethnic Kurds near the frontier, has been under bombardment from the air and the ground by Turkish forces and their local Syrian allies.
[Image: _100443234_045557334-1.jpg]Some 30,000 people have fled the city and nearby villages, according to the Observatory. They headed towards villages held by Syrian government forces.
Turkey is targeting the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG), a US-backed militia that it regards as an extension of the Kurdish rebels on its own territory.

[Image: p0608cvh.jpg]Hundreds more families left overnight as shelling continued, the Observatory says. Five children were among those killed on Friday, it reports.

Brusk Hasakeh, a YPG spokesman, told Reuters news agency that Turkish forces and their Syrian militia allies were trying to storm Afrin from the north but the YPG and its women's affiliate, the YPJ, were fighting back.
[Image: _100443834__100418490_syria_control_mar1...map-nc.png][Image: _100443237_045558999-1.jpg]Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told a gathering in Ankara that his country would not stop until its mission to capture Afrin had been completed.
What are the latest diplomatic efforts?
While Turkey is opposed to President Assad, Russia and Iran are the Syrian leader's closest allies.
[Image: _100445063_045575847-1.jpg]Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov sought to portray the talks in Kazakhstan as an opportunity to bring lasting peace to Syria, saying "millions of Syrians are looking in the direction of Astana".
Referring to the Eastern Ghouta, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said the bombing of civilians was unacceptable.
