THURSDAY, 29TH AUGUST.

YOUR WORDS AND YOUR LIFE


Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth (Proverbs 6:2).


There’s a spiritual language for the Christian. That’s why, as a child of God, you ought to put the Word on your lips, because the supernatural life is based on your tongue. Your tongue rules your life. In Matthew 12:36-37, Jesus said, “But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the Day of Judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.”

Literally, this means a man will go to heaven or hell because of his words. Read the Apostle Paul’s submission about salvation in Romans 10:8-10: “if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

The Apostle James likened the tongue to the rudder of a great ship, which the captain uses to direct the ship wherever he wants (James 3:4-5). Likewise, your life is the character of your words. If your words are wholesome, your life will be perfect, excellent, and full of glory. Proverbs 15:4 says, “A wholesome tongue is a tree of life….” Jesus taught that what you say, is what you get (Mark 11:23).

Watch what you say, for your confessions control your life. You can keep yourself in health, safety, prosperity, and victory with your words. Stir your life in the direction of God’s destiny for you with your faith-filled confessions. Always talk success and increase only.

1 Peter 3:10 says, “For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile.” Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” Create and sustain your glorious life with your words. You can be anything you want to be, have anything you want to have, and achieve anything you want to achieve—with your words.

CONFESSION

My life is excellent and full of glory; I walk in the dominion of the Spirit. My journey in life is upward and forward only. I’m on the path of success, victory and everlasting prosperity; I’m walking in, and fulfilling God’s destiny for me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

29TH AUGUST.

I affirm that I’ve been called and anointed by the Spirit of God to show forth the glory of the Kingdom everywhere I go. Nothing in this world can stop or intimidate me from fulfilling my ministry of reconciliation committed to me by God! The Spirit of God is at work in me mightily, causing me to be more effective in my works of righteousness!

I am a tree of righteousness, producing other trees of righteousness. I am empowered to do things beyond the ordinary, and I am accomplishing great feats by the Spirit, and through the power of God’s Word, to the glory of His Name.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. My life is one of endless possibilities, nothing is difficult for me, and no negative or challenging circumstances and situations are impossible for me to change. My life only goes in the upward and forward direction because I live by the faith of the Son of God.

I am favored in all things; for I exude the sweet-smelling savour of Christ. No devil can influence that which the Lord has committed into my hands negatively because I am in charge. I have overcome the systems of this world; therefore I refuse to be bound by the limitations that exist in the world. Glory to God. Hallelujah!

THEME: ARGUING WITH THE OMEGA?

Memorise:
Let not him that girdeth on his harness boast himself as he that putteth it off. 1st King 20:11b

Read: Matthew 26:30-35 (KJV)
30 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives .
31 Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.
32 But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.
33 Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.
34 Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.
35 Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.

Message:-
In today’s Bible reading, we see an overconfident Peter arguing with the One whose Name is Omega. Perhaps Peter forgot that as the Omega, God knows the end from the beginning. You need to recognise that overconfidence is not synonymous with faith.

While overconfidence ignores that which is ordained as if it were not, faith calls these things that be not as though they were. When God’s ordained word says “Abstain from all appearance of evil and flee fornication”, it is overconfidence and not faith that makes a brother linger in a place where female nudity is on display. Your faith cannot annul God’s word.

Some people believe that as new creatures in Christ, they are now super beings, no longer susceptible to weaknesses or temptations. Driven by overconfidence and not faith, such people throw wise checks and balances established in God’s word out of the window. No wonder they end up in the same pitiable state Peter found himself in after denying Christ thrice.

After Jesus told Peter what would happen to him shortly, instead of praying for grace to stand firm or praying for a reversal of his impending denial, he was busy making “confessions of overconfidence” and not “confessions of faith” as he supposed. Hear his confessions in Mathew 26:35 a:

“… Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee.”

Unfortunately, the same mouth Peter used in making these confessions also denied Christ. Your confessions must be based on the totality of God’s word, if you don’t want to engage in a futile exercise. There is a place for making confessions and affirmations, but basing them on an isolated portion of God’s word cannot override the generality of God’s principles.

Apostle Paul got it right when he longed to know Christ and the power of His resurrection. In Philippians 3:12, Paul revealed his mindset with these words:

“Not as though I had already attained , either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ, Jesus.”

Unlike Paul, some people behave as if they have arrived. Some of such people even try to persuade me to slow down and rest upon what God has done for me over the years in the ministry. They forget that only those who endure to the end will be saved Matthew 10:22.

Beloved, continually search the scriptures, and make God’s word your compass in life. Pray earnestly also that the grace of Jesus Christ will be more than enough for you to finish well and strong.

Prayer Point
Father, I have no power of my own; please help me to finish well and strong in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: KEYS TO CONCEIVING VISION FOR LIVING

SCRIPTURE: And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do. Acts 9:6

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: A person who lives without a sense of purpose lives without profit.

Previously, we saw what visionless-ness can do in the life of a person; we saw that a life without vision is a life without a future; a person who lives without purpose lives without profit; the lack of vision equals the lack of urgency; a life of no vision is a life of no wisdom; a life of no vision is a life of no action.

It is important to know that knowing these tragedies that befall a visionless person is not enough but living a life of vision is necessary.

Therefore, how can one conceive a vision for life?

i) Ask God in prayer to fill your heart with the reason for your existence
This is a situation where a person asks God, ‘O Lord, why am I alive? What do You want to do with my life? What do You want me to be doing right now? Fill my heart oh! God with the reason for living.’ (Habakkuk 2:1-3).

ii) Live with a sense of purpose daily
Do not wake up and not know what to do until the day is over. Do not let a day, week or month go without achieving anything. Itemize what can be done to move your life forward spiritually and otherwise (Psalms 90:12).

iii) Disconnect from visionless people
There are many people who are going nowhere and they want you to go nowhere with them; disconnect from such visionless people. Love everyone but do not keep the association of anyone going nowhere (1Corinthians 15:33).

My counsel is, live with a sense of purpose; ask God to reveal who you are to you and pursue it. Disconnect from visionless people.

Remember this: A person who lives without a sense of purpose lives without profit.

PRAYER: O Lord, I ask that You fill my heart with the right vision for living. I receive the grace to live with a sense of purpose and to disconnect from visionless people Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
