Morning Devotional for Sunday 3rd February
#1
RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SUNDAY, 3RD FEBRUARY.

A SUPPLANTING OF THE OLD BY THE NEW.

…ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him (Colossians 3:9-10).

In Christ, you have much more than mere religion. You received the life and nature of God when you received Christ into your heart. You were literally born anew; you were born of God. John 1:12-13 declares, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”

You’re a new creature in Christ Jesus. You have the resurrection life, because you were raised together with Christ to a new life altogether. Ephesians 2:4-6 says, “But God…hath quickened us together with Christ…And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” When Jesus died, you died with Him. When He was buried, you were buried with Him. When God raised Him from the dead, you were raised together with Him.

You received a new life when He was raised from the dead. When He was raised from the dead, He was born again (Acts 13:33). He came up with a new life, the resurrection life. So, when the Bible says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17), it means there’s been a supplanting of the old life by the resurrection life. You’re not the old man and former nature that sinned. That former self is dead; he died in Christ. Your new nature is identified with Christ: “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4).
Your past with all the failures, weaknesses, and defeat were buried with Him. Now, you have a new life in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Righteous Father, I thank you for the reality of the new life of righteousness, which I’ve received in Christ. The old nature with its decadence, weakness, and defeat has been completely supplanted by the new life of righteousness, victories, triumphs, and strength. I walk in the reality of this transcendent life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

1 Corinthians 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

Ephesians 4:20-24 But ye have not so learned Christ; 21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE:  SUNDAY 3RD FEBRUARY 2019

THEME:  IT’S NOT A SIN!

MEMORISE:

Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart. Psalm 32:11

READ: Nehemiah 8:5-12

5 And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people; (for he was above all the peopleWink and when he opened it, all the people stood up:

6 And Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the LORD with their faces to the ground.

7 Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law: and the people stood in their place.

8 So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.

9 And Nehemiah, which is the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said unto all the people, This day is holy unto the LORD your God; mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law.

10 Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our LORD: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

11 So the Levites stilled all the people, saying, Hold your peace, for the day is holy; neither be ye grieved.

12 And all the people went their way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great mirth, because they had understood the words that were declared unto them.

MESSAGE

The word of God commands us to “be glad in the Lord and rejoice,” but sadly, many Christians do not take this commandment seriously, for various reasons. Although some Christians would love to rejoice and celebrate on a daily basis, they have allowed the storms and challenges of life to completely drown the sound of celebration from their lives. Some others erroneously believe that gladness and celebration are contrary to the word of God because of Bible passages that admonish us to be sober and avoid worldly pleasure. Some even believe that the bright countenance, high spirits, singing and dancing that often accompany celebrations are carnal, worldly and therefore sinful. However, I have good news for you: celebrating the goodness of God is not a sin when done in moderation as the Bible prescribes. I therefore decree that God will do something in your family that will cause you to be glad and rejoice for the rest of your life in Jesus’ Name.

Rejoicing in the Lord is so important that God ordained it to be a regular practice among His people. In fact, the whole of Leviticus chapter 23 is dedicated to instructions on required feasts and celebrations for the Israelites. Celebration can take the form of rejoicing with family and friends in an atmosphere that ascribes praise and worship to God in love, peace and unity. Psalm 22:3 reveals that God inhabits the praises of His people, and He pleased when His children are happy. According to Exodus 5:1-2, Pharaoh’s refusal to allow the Jews go and celebrate a feast unto their God was responsible for God’s anger against the Egyptians, which ultimately led to their destruction. Anyone or anything that stands in the way of your celebration shall be destroyed today in Jesus’ Name.

Gladness of heart, rejoicing and celebration are vital to the overall wellbeing of a person. Nehemiah 8:10 says that the joy of the Lord is His people’s strength, and Proverbs 17:22 teaches that gladness of heart and joy are like medicine that brings healing to troubled souls. It therefore pays to acknowledge God through thanksgiving praises and worship. However, acceptable celebration demands total submission and obedience to God, and it should serve as a means of testifying to his goodness and witnessing to neighbors about His saving power. The joy of the Lord is a tonic that brings good health to the body and soul. As we experience the goodness of God, our joy becomes contagious and impacts positively on those around us. It also brings the reality of heaven into our hearts (Acts 27:33-36). May God’s joy fill our hearts and lives always, in Jesus Name.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please help me to be joyful in You all the days of my life, and fill my heart with so much joy that my testimonies will convert souls to Your kingdom in Jesus’ Name.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:  Luke 16-17

Isaiah 30:23-33

1 Let us, with a gladsome mind,
praise the LORD, for He is kind:

ever faithful, ever sure.
2 Let us blaze His Name abroad,
for of gods He is the God:
for His mercies shall endure,
ever faithful, ever sure.
3 He with all-commanding might
filled the new-made world with light:
for His mercies shall endure,
ever faithful, ever sure.
4 All things living He doth feed;

for His mercies shall endure,
ever faithful, ever sure.
5 He His chosen race did bless
in the wasteful wilderness:
for His mercies shall endure,
ever faithful, ever sure.
6 He hath with a pious eye
looks upon our misery:
for His mercies shall endure,
ever faithful, ever sure.
7 Let us therefore warble forth
His high majesty and worth:
for His mercies shall endure,
ever faithful, ever sure.

OUR DAILY MANNA DEVOTIONAL???
A DEVOTIONAL BOOKLET FOR CHAMPIONS

DATE: SUNDAY 3RD FEBRUARY, 2019

TOPIC: THEY WROTE THEIR EXAMS IN WEDDING GOWNS: GIVE LIFE WHAT IT TAKES!?

BASIC SCRIPTURE: PHILIPPIANS 4:10:20?

Sometimes in April 2018, in my home country Nigeria, an interesting thing happened. Two female students of Benue State University, Makurdi, Benue State, stunned the whole university community. The two female Mass Communication students were in their final year. The university had fixed their final paper for the course code name, COM 402; Media Law and Ethics. The students too had fixed their wedding dates. Somehow and somewhere along the line, there was a coincidence; their wedding and examination date coincided. It was a Saturday. Something dramatic however happened. The two newly-weds left the wedding mid-way; they left their husbands behind with their bridal trains and went into the examination hall in their wedding gowns to write the final examination paper. Their course lecturer said the two brides entered the  examination hall amidst jubilation and excitement. Hear his word, “I was with the Deputy Vice – Chancellor (academics) when both women stormed the examination hall.

It was a moment of joy for all of us as students and lecturers. We were happy that our students got married and they (students) were happy too that they got married and also took their last exams same day. It was double joy for them.” A member of the University Examination Monitoring Team was elated to see the two female students in their wedding gowns with the utmost desire to graduate. Life they say is not a bed of roses. You have to give whatever it takes to succeed at it. These two ladies were determined to write their papers and graduate. They could have given excuses not to write their final exams. In spite of all the road blocks, they went to the hall, dressed in the most unusual manner and took their final papers.

Denies Waitley said “Determination gives you the resolve to keep going in spite of the road blocks that lay before you.” Part of today’s scripture says in Vs 13: “I can do all things through Him who gives me strength.” With the LORD supplying strength, then NO MORE EXCUSES! You can win and win! May your determination DISGRACE YOUR HATERS! Don’t let sin be an obstacle to your making it to Heaven! Don’t let laziness or sleep be an obstacle to your success in life! Don’t let your family background be an obstacle that will put your back on the ground! Don’t allow that DELAY to stop you! Give life whatever it takes for you to make it legitimately! Push on! Hold on! Hold out! March on! I can hear your STORY TO GLORY song so near! Amen!

The Great International Asaba Special Anointing Service Is On Friday 8th, 6pm and Saturday 9th, 7:30am Due To Nigerian General Elections. Theme: “Satanic Saloons: Catch Fire!” Venue is the CENOTAPH. Songs 1: Higher Ground?
1. I’m pressing on the upward way,
New heights I’m gaining everyday;
Still praying as I onward bound,
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”

Chorus
Lord, lift me up, and let me stand
By faith on Canaan’s tableland;
A higher plane than I have found,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

2. My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where these abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.

3. I want to live above the world,
Though Satan’s darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.

4. I want to scale the utmost height
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I’ll pray till rest I’ve found,
“Lord, lead me on to higher ground.”

Seed of Destiny

TOPIC: THE CONTENT OF THE BLESSING

SUNDAY 3 FEBRUARY,"2019

SCRIPTURE": Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,"who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ": Ephesians 1:3

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The Blessing is a limit terminator.

The Blessing of God has been confirmed to be one of the greatest assets on earth. This is because the Blessing is very important to life and destiny. It is important to know that at creation,"man was not given money or material possessions by God but the Blessing (Genesis 1":28). Although,"man lost the Blessing in the Garden of Eden after he sinned against God, God restored the Blessing to us through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1" ).This is to let us know that the Blessing is a crucial necessity for life and destiny.

It is,"therefore very important to understand the content of the Blessing. Now, what is the content of the Blessing of God? What is the potency of the Blessing?

1. The Blessing is a limit terminator (Gen.12":1-5)
Abraham suffered ancestral limitations but the Blessing of God terminated his limitations. Nothing terminates limits like the Blessing of God.
2. The Blessing is destiny Opener (Gen. 12:1-5)
The destiny of Abraham was closed until God released his Blessing on Him. The Blessing opens every closed door of life and destiny.
3. The Blessing is a destiny accelerator
Abraham was at the same spot in life but when the Blessing of God came upon him,"he was shifted to another level of life (Genesis 12":1-5). To be blessed is to be shifted in life.
4. The Blessing is a capacity amplifier
God’s Blessing is an antidote to smallness on earth; the Blessing of God amplifies one’s capacity in life (Genesis 32:24-280).
5. The Blessing is a life and destiny Preserver
The Blessing protects lives and destinies; a blessed person cannot be wasted. (Genesis 31:26-30).
Beloved,"my counsel is, do everything possible to get the Blessing of God. Connect to a prophetic cover to access God’s Blessing for your life and destiny.
Remember this": The Blessing is a limit terminator.

ASSIGNMENTS:

1. Make up your mind to connect God’s Blessing.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE

TOPIC: UNDERSTANDING THE WEAPONS OF SATAN (III)

Read: Luke 22:1-6
MEMORISE: But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed (James 1:14).

EXPOSITION
Another strategic weapon that Satan fights all Christians with is, temptation through LUSTS. What is lust? Lust is a craving. It is a strong desire for something or someone. It can take any form, such as the lust for sex, food, money or power. Lust is focused on pleasing oneself, often without regard to detrimental consequences. Lust is regarded as the principle of corrupt nature, which resident in the heart of man. It is natural or hereditary to him, and therefore is called his own.

Our memory Scripture shows that lust is the great cause of sin. It has a greater hand in it than either the Devil or his instruments, which cannot conquer our souls by force; he comes through the areas of our spiritual weaknesses. When Satan tempts people, he does not make them act contrary to their nature, but leads them on to act out their proper disposition. According to James 1:15, when inner desire responds to outward enticement, sin is spawned. When a man falls into temptation through his own desire, he is acting on the fleshly nature passed down through the complete seed of Adam. Truly, Satan is the external source of temptation, but no one can blame him for the roots of sinful deeds which lie within the individual.

What Satan could not do envy and malice of the high priests and Pharisees, he effects by Judas because of his lust for money (Luke 22:3). Satan entered into Judas’ heart and caused him to betray his master. He stirred up, and worked upon the corruptions of his heart, suggested evil things to his mind, and battled his temptations agreeable to his covetousness. Covetousness is the root of sin. An eager and insatiable thirst for the world is the parent of the most monstrous sins. Do you know your breaking point? I mean the areas of your life where Satan can easily tempt you. If you know them, don’t take them with levity. “Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul” (1 Pet.2:11).

Temptation itself is not a sin, but yielding into it, is a sin. CACGHB 633
