*DON’T OBSERVE “LYING VANITIES” .

_They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy_ *(Jonah 2:8).*

Did you ever read about Jonah? A great fish had swallowed him up after he disobeyed the Lord’s instruction to go preach in Nineveh. However, while in the belly of the fish, he thanked God for delivering him, even though he was still in trouble.

Jonah wasn’t saying, *“O God, deliver me”* or *“O God, I know you’ll deliver me from this trouble,”* no. Rather, he said, *“Thank you Lord, because you’ve delivered me.”* It takes faith to talk like that. Read the entire story in Jonah chapter 2; it’s very inspiring!
Jonah was conscious of the mercies of God, and that inspired faith in him. He said, _*“They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy”*_ (Jonah 2:8). This is what many haven’t learnt; they gripe over the pain in their bodies; they complain about their situation when what they should do is declare words of faith. They get overwhelmed by the symptoms of sickness and disease; they observe lying vanities.

A lying vanity is anything that isn’t consistent with the Word of God for you as a new creation in Christ Jesus. Refuse to observe lying vanities. Those who observe lying vanities forsake their mercies; they frustrate the grace of God, thereby short-circuiting the power of God from working in their behalf.

Perhaps you’re a lady, and you’ve been told the baby in your womb can’t come out alive, or maybe it’s a tumour or disease, and you can even feel it in your body; refuse to be moved. Rather, declare who you are in Christ; affirm the Word. Exodus 23:26 says, _*“There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfil”;*_ hold on to that Word; make it your daily confession. Declare that you’re in health, and Christ in you destroys every trace of sickness, disease and infirmity from your body.

Never let what you see, how you feel, or anything contrary to God’s Word run your life. Give thought, attention and focus only to the Word. You’re greater than any trouble in your body, or in the world. You’ve already overcome everything that tries to work against you. 1 John 4:4 says, _*“Ye are of God little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.”*_ Hallelujah!

*CONFESSION*

_The Lord is my Rock! In Him I stand secure forever; He’s my all, and in Him I trust, because there’s no impossibility with Him. His dominion endures throughout all generations. My faith in His Word is unshakeable, for His Word is true, and never fails. Hallelujah!_

WEDNESDAY 10TH OCTOBER,"2018

SCRIPTURE": And Joshua said,"Why hast thou troubled us? the LORD shall trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones. Joshua 7":25

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: It is the actions of today that deliver the impacts of tomorrow.

Sometime ago,"an eighteen-year-old young lady who was in the Senior Secondary School (SS2) sent a message to our church line. She wrote, ‘Pastor, I feel so dirty and defiled, I want to kill myself’. My wife and I put a call through to her to know what happened. She said that when she was four years old, a mature person in her neighbourhood raped her. After that demonic action, she would come under an uncontrollable urge to commit immorality with whosoever and whatsoever she saw. As a result of that, she had slept with numerous men that she had lost count of. She had become a shadow of herself, there was nothing like education nor a definite future in her mind or focus, all because of a wicked, self-centered, satan-sponsored, destiny-destroying man who decided to pick up a four-year old baby and initiate her into an immoral covenant that has ruined her life and destroyed her destiny. It was such a pathetic case. What a level of wickedness!
Beloved, whatever you sow, you will reap (Galatians 6":7); living is seeding; life has consequences. It is the actions of today that deliver the impacts of tomorrow. Refuse to be allowed to be used by the devil.

On the other hand,"if you have been a victim of the negative actions of others, God can restore and repair your life. My counsel is, draw closer to God and allow Him to mend your life for His Purpose.

REMEMBER THIS": It is the actions of today that deliver the impacts of tomorrow.

ASSIGNMENTS:
1. Be conscious of the decisions you make and the actions you take per time; read the account of Achan in Joshua 7:1-25 for a broader understanding of our anchor Scripture.
2. Make up your mind not to sow a negative seed in the life of anyone.

PRAYER: Lord,"I refuse to be a victim of the activity of any agent of wickedness. Grant me the grace to always act correctly and make positive impact in the life of everyone that comes my way Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:

14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

MESSAGE

Because God is the creator of all things in heaven and on earth, He holds supreme authority over everything, and He does whatever pleases Him (Psalm 135:6). His desire is that every creature in heaven and on earth should do His will. The will of God is God’s plan and purpose for each entity in His creation at any given time. Only those who have submitted themselves to the Lordship of Jesus Christ can readily do God’s will from their heart (Psalm 40:8). There is only one person on earth who knows the will of God at any particular time and 1 Corinthians 2:11 reveals that person:

“For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.”

Therefore, anyone who does not have the Holy spirit dwelling in him or her can neither know nor be submissive to the will God (1 Corinthians 2:14, Romans 8:7). Even if such people attend church meetings and worship service, they will still find the word of God and the lifestyle of His kingdom questionable, burdensome and even offensive.

Whenever an unconverted person is confronted with the will of God as revealed through His words, an antagonistic tension develops in their heart, which the conviction of the Holy Spirit works to douse. Because the corrupt carnal nature of man sees itself as the master of the universe, human beings love to exercise their freewill over everything, including the forces of nature and even God’s divine power. This has led some people to erroneously see the power of the human freewill as being superior to God’s divine authority. However, children of God do not walk in this folly. As children of God, we recognize that the exercise of freewill outside the will of God is false freedom which leads to slavery and captivity to worldly pleasures, addictions, pride, inordinate ambition, immortality, and the like. These are the very same things that Jesus sacrificed so much to deliver us from. Therefore, we submit our freewill to God in the process of discovering and following God’s purpose for our lives. Any exercise of freedom that gives a person the liberty to live recklessly without due consideration for divine purpose and life after death is actually the freedom of fools. God’s will for His children is always good and in their best interest (Jeremiah 29:11). It is the essence of life and the only way by which we can fulfill our destiny. You can continually know God’s will for your life by discerning it in the place of prayer (Ephesians 5:17, Colossians 1:9). Your Heavenly Father expects you to ensure that His will be done in your life, family, church and community (Matthew 6:10). Are you doing this?

PRAYER POINT:

Father, I submit myself anew to the Lordship of Your Spirit. Please let Your will be done in my life in Jesus’ Name.

I once heard the COMPLAINT of a young man in his late 30's, and I would love to share it with you today. Michael is a devoted child of God who while growing up, went through several thick and thin experiences. In fact, getting a Bachelor's degree in Project Management was one of his greatest testimonies, because there was no helper! Today, Michael is a top Project Manager with a multinational company in his country. It is also interesting to know that in just 6 years, he has risen to the top of the organization, *a feat that has never been achieved in just a few years in that organization.*

Do you know Michael's complaint? *He said he heard negative things about himself despite all his efforts to be good to everyone,* and that it seemed like some of his colleagues hated him. But the Holy Ghost wants you to know that Michael is a typical example of many believers who have forgotten that *WHEN YOU GET TO THE TOP, YOU WILL BECOME A TOPIC!*

Whichever area of your life you find yourself as a leader or a sent man, always remember that it will come with its own responsibilities, benefits and destructive criticism due to ENVY. *In life/ministry, men will either ENVY you or PITY you! The CHOICE IS YOURS!* So while you are on the ladder to the TOP or praying to God to be lifted, always include in your prayers that He equips you with the wisdom, character, strength, patience and perseverance that you will need at the top!

*Truth is that CHARISMA can take you to the TOP but it is CHARACTER that will keep you there!* Expect attacks from TOXIC HATERS/JEALOUS PEOPLE! Was our Lord Jesus Christ not insulted, rejected and criticized? Yes, but He didn't allow other people's opinions to stop Him from focusing on His mission! *1Peter 2:23 says, *"When they hurled their insults at Him, He did not retaliate; when He suffered, He made no threats. Instead He entrusted Himself to the One who judges righteously. "*

I have Jewish friends and I can confirm that even HIS OWN people didn't and still don't believe in Him (Mark 6:1-6) and in what God had appointed Him to do. If you desire to be perpetually relevant in God's agenda and stay at the TOP, then be ready to be a TOPIC everywhere you go! An anonymous quote says - *" Often people that criticize your life are usually the same people that don't know the price you paid to get to where you are today."* So pay the price that TOP PEOPLE pay and keep rising, keep moving! I see you at the TOP! Amen and amen! Pray now!
