TOPIC: HE DWELLS IN YOU NOW


And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also (John 14:3)


Many don’t understand what Jesus was talking about in the scripture above. Some have speculated that He was talking about the Second Coming or the Rapture, but that’s not what He was talking about in that verse. 


To understand what Jesus meant, you’ll have to stay in the context, and understand His message with your spirit, not with your senses. He continued this interesting discourse till He got to the 16th verse where He said, “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever.”


The term “another Comforter” is the Greek phrase “Allon paraklēton,” meaning “another of same kind.” So, Jesus introduced the Holy Spirit at that point. Then He said, “...ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you” (John 14:17). How did the Holy Spirit dwell with them at the time? Wasn’t He supposed to come on the Day of Pentecost?


 That tells us something. He wasn’t talking about the Holy Spirit alone; He was also referring to Himself!


To drive that point home, He went back to what He said in our theme verse, saying, “I will come again, and receive you unto myself...” Then in verse 18, He said, “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” How and when was He going to come to them?


In the 20th verse, He said, “At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.” What day was He talking about? Evidently, He was talking about the day when the Holy Ghost comes!


 So, when He said, “I will come to you,” He was saying, “I’ll come to you in the Holy Spirit!” And on the Day of Pentecost, He fulfilled that precious promise: “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance” (Acts 2:4). He’s in you today in all His fullness. Praise God!



PRAYER

Dear Precious Holy Spirit, thank you for your indwelling and abiding presence which has made me a victor and a master over circumstances. Thank you for strengthening my faith and stirring up courage in me to do the will of God and fulfil my calling. My success in life is guaranteed because I’m yielded to your guidance and leading always, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

I am more than a conqueror, and I live with confidence, knowing that all of heaven and power of divinity are working for me, for my good.


 No matter how strong the contrary winds blow, my life is unshakable, because I am firmly rooted in Christ. I’ll never be discouraged or disadvantaged because I am the planting of the Lord. 


The glory of God is risen upon me, and I manifest that glory everywhere. The power, beauty, and excellence of God reside in my spirit; and through me, His righteousness is established, and His grace and love are revealed to men. 


Today, and always, I display the wonderful deeds and perfections of Him who has called me out of darkness into glory and virtue! I know who I am; I am the seed of Abraham! 



The world belongs to me. I reign and rule over circumstances by the power of the greater One who lives in me! He lives in my spirit, in my soul, and in my body! 



No failure for me, and no defeat on my path; I am moving from glory to glory, and from victory to victory. Glory to God. Hallelujah!

THEME: GREATNESS IS INFLUENCE.

MEMORISE:
“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:”
Philippians 2:9

 
READ: Philippians 2:9-11 (KJV)

9. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name;

10. That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11. And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

MESSAGE:
When we talk about greatness, we are talking about influence. 

You cannot call a man great if he has all the money in the world but nobody likes or obeys him. My mother used to pray for me thus: “You will call one person and many people will respond”. 

She did not need to literally say that I would be great even though that is what the prayer meant; all she had to say was that I would be a man of influence and the greatness was sure.

 
When the Bible was talking about the great woman of Shunem, it records that when the Prophet asked if she would want a recommendation to the king or the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, she replied that she did not need assistance in that regard (2 Kings 4:13). She was a woman of influence.

 
Since greatness is influence, then I’m sure you know that the one who is greater than the greatest is the Most Influential One. So, how great is our God?

 According to Philippians 2:9-11, our God has influence in heaven, influence on earth and influence underneath the earth.

He also has influence over the wind and the sea. Mark 4:41 says the wind and the sea obey Him. He has influence over fire; He can turn the fiery furnace to an air-conditioned room. “The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.” Proverbs 21:1

The above passage says that God is so influential that He has complete control over the most influential people in the world.

There is no area or person over whom our God does not have influence – none! 

Now, when God wants to make someone great, what He does is to give the fellow some of His influence. We see that very well in the case of Jesus Christ.

After Jesus had paid the price for the redemption of man, God’s reward to Him was influence. This tells us one thing: the way to true greatness is to please God. 

I can confidently say by God’s grace that I am a great man because I strive to please Him every day of my life. 

Do you want to be great? Surrender all to Jesus and He will endow you with His glory (John 17:20-22).

*TOPIC: APPLYING GRACE TO OVERCOME WEAKNESSES*

SCRIPTURE?: "For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world". Titus 2:11-12.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY?: When you identify the weakness in your life that satan wants to capitalise on to take you to hell, apply for the grace of God.

The grace of God is needed to overcome the weaknesses of life. The grace of God is needed because people are confronted with diverse kinds of weaknesses.

Hebrews 12:1 refers to these weaknesses as “the sins which doth so easily beset us”. These sins, which satan uses to pull people down, are unique to different people. For example, there are people who don’t drink alcohol or smoke cigarette but when they are tempted with money matters, they would easily fall even though they appear to be fervent Christians. Some people can be praying in tongues yet cheating people. It may be a generational weakness. People in a particular family may be known for or identified with a certain kind of weakness. So, identify the weakness in your life and ask God for the grace to deal with it.

So, when you identify the weakness in your life that Satan wants to capitalise on to take you to hell, apply for the grace of God. The grace makes you to say “No” to sin (Titus 2:11-12). When you are confronted with sin, you tell God: “Lord, I need grace to overcome this sin – this alcoholic tendency, this immorality, this pornographic addiction, these habits of lying and cheating etc.” And as you apply for grace, also apply physical caution or safeguard. For example, if you know that your problem is lying, gossip, exaggeration, betraying people, etc. reduce the way you talk.

Beloved, as you apply for grace to overcome your weaknesses, you shall overcome the enemy and his temptations in Jesus’ Name.

Remember this?: When you identify the weakness in your life that satan wants to capitalise on to take you to hell, apply for the grace of God.
