Alleged serial cannibals in Russia kept the remains of cats and dogs in their fridge alongside human remains and beef, forensic tests have revealed.
Suspected killer Dmitry Baksheev, 35, nicknamed 'Devil', and his wife Natalia Baksheeva, 42, have been detained over her 'confession' that they murdered and ate around 30 people, including women found through dating websites.
Now it is reported that the sick couple kept the remains of dogs and cats in their fridge and freezer next to 'steamed' and frozen human remains from their 'final victim' Elena Vashrusheva, a 35 year old waitress.

'Experts have proved that there was meat of humans, dogs and cats in plastic bags,' reported news outlet Mash, which has links to law enforcement.
'And most surprisingly, beef was also found there.

So far only Elena's body parts - some pickled in glass jars - have been identified, and investigators say as yet they have no hard evidence of further killings as they probe wife Natalia's cannibal confession.

[size=undefined]Natalia was said by neighbours to have cooked meat pies for air force cadets at the military academy where they lived.
She filled them with 'whatever is around', she told them.
Meanwhile, Baksheev's best friend named as Gennady, 27, nicknamed Angel, was filmed on his release from detention claiming he was framed by police seeking to link him with the couple's alleged cannibal activities.
Gennady's lawyer Alexey Avanesyan said his client, previously named as Roman Sidorov, was pressured to confess that he found women on dating websites and social media 'then raped them, and the Baksheevs ate them, and dumped the bodies'.

'They kept threatening me... saying I will be jailed anyway, that I am just a piece of meat, and prisoners will attack me in this or that way.'
He denied any involvement but said he worked with Baksheev, had been arrested for robbery with him, and was the best man at his 2010 wedding.
He was 'shocked' when police showed him his friend's picture posing for selfies with human remains including a severed woman's hand in his mouth, he said.
His lawyer is to lodge a formal complaint over his 'illegal detention' and 'threats' by detectives.
Natalia has complained that she has been mocked by fellow inmates in her detention jail who taunted her: 'Did you eat enough human meat?'
Bakseev is kept in solitary confinement amid fears he will be 'beaten' by other detainees.
The pair from Kransodar in southern Russia confessed to murdering the waitress 'in a fit of jealously' after Natalia accused her of seeking to seduce her husband.
A picture dated 1999 found at their flat is believed to show a severed human head served as dinner and garnished with mandarin oranges.
A friend of the couple, retired air force communications officer Sergey Labintsev, said they suddenly attacked him on the false allegation that he had slept with Natalia.
Baksheev said he was consumed by jealousy.

'I could have been eaten too,' said the pensioner, who said he 'had a nightmare that they were making steamed meat from me'.
'I could have been dead.'

Police have detained Baksheev's close associate Roman Sidorov and are said to have suggested during interrogations that he was an accomplice to the pair.
Sidorov's lawyer Alexey Avanesyan disclosed details of his client's interrogation by six investigators, giving a revealing insight into how police view the gruesome case.
