Wilfred Ndidi named Leicester City's most valuable player in the Premier League







Super Eagles of Nigeria midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, has been chosen as the Most Valuable Player in the Leicester City squad. following his performances for the Foxes at the center of midfield this season.


Ndidi has played 23 games in the English top-flight, scoring two goals and was in action for 1,892 minutes resulting in speculation of a transfer to Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham.
 

 
Brendan Rodgers club side managed to win only one of the six matches Ndidi missed when he was injured showing how pivotal he is to the club's style of play and now British television sports channel Sky Sports has unveiled a list of the most valuable player for every Premier League club in the 2019-2020 season listing Ndidi as Leicester City's MVP.

Sky Sports explaining Ndidi's selection wrote : "Leicester lead the way for counterattacks this season, a hallmark of their game in recent years.

"The bedrock of their midfield and the key man in launching so many fast breaks is Wilfred Ndidi.

"The Nigerian is a master of the art of the turnover, regularly winning possession and springing attacks. His 4.4 tackles per 90 minutes is the highest in the Premier League this season and significantly higher than the next-best central midfielder, Oriol Romeu on 3.2.

"Ndidi's value was further demonstrated by his recent injury absence - a five-game run that saw the previously high-flying Foxes take only two points from a possible 15."

Ballon d’ Or: Sadio Mane advised to leave Liverpool

Former Senegalese international, Diomansy Kamara, has advised Liverpool forward Sadio Mane to leave the Reds for Real Madrid if he wants to win Ballon d’ Or in the near future.



Kamara believes Mane, who came fourth behind Lionel Messi, Virgil van Dijk and Cristiano Ronaldo in the voting for last year’s Ballon d’Or, cannot fulfil his potentials if he remains at Anfield.

Mane has emerged into one of the top footballers in the world since he joined Liverpool from Southampton in 2016.



The 27-year-old led his country, Senegal to a second-place finish at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt.
He also won the 2019 African Best Player for last year ahead of Algeria captain Riyad Mahrez.

“If Mane wants to win the Ballon d’Or one day, then he may have to leave Liverpool as the club are maybe not the best advocates for him, despite their outstanding performances,” Kamara told ESPN.



“He needs to continue on the road he is going down, as he was not too far from finishing on the podium, and even for me, he may deserve to win it this year.

“Now he needs to continue to work, and maybe even change clubs because we have seen that Liverpool does not play to Mane’s strengths and people gave their votes to Van Dijk even though Mane and to a lesser extent Mohamed Salah were equally in the running.”

“Considering his value in the market, considering the quality of the team he is playing for, there are not many other clubs he could go to today to make a major leap,” He continued.



“So we have to talk about Real Madrid.
“His playing style is a bit closer to the criteria Madrid are looking for over there, and if I were his agent, I would take him to Spain’s capital.

“We all dream of seeing Sadio Mane in the colours of Real Madrid, and we know that manager, Zinedine Zidane appreciates him, but will it become a reality? We will have to see.”

Transfer: I am an Arsenal fan – Coutinho’s agent hints at Premier League move for Brazilian

Philippe Coutinho’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, has said that the player “would love a return to the Premier League,” one day, while admitting he is a supporter of Arsenal.


However, Joorabchian insists he will not influence which English club Coutinho chooses.
The Brazilian midfielder is presently on loan at Bayern Munich from Barcelona.

The Bundesliga champions are not expected to make the deal permanent, which means the 27-year-old might be on the move again this summer.


Coutinho, who had previously played for Liverpool, is attracting attention from Chelsea and Arsenal.
“The fact that I’m an Arsenal supporter is not a secret,” Joorabchian told Sky Sports News.

“I don’t have any preference where the players go. I don’t try to push someone to one club or another. Everything is a possibility.

“The Premier League is something that he has always enjoyed playing in, and loved playing in, and would probably love to come back and play in.”

EPL: Ighalo reveals why Man Utd hasn’t offered him permanent deal yet

Manchester United star, Odion Ighalo, has disclosed that he is yet to receive an offer from the club on permanent deal because the season is still on, and he is yet to finish his loan deal.



Ighalo joined Man United last January transfer window on a six-month loan deal from Chinese side, Shanghai Shenhua.

The Nigerian star has scored four goals in eight appearances for the Red Devils so far this season, and United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is open to keeping the 30-year-old beyond the end of the season.



“There is no offer on the table yet,” Ighalo told ElegbeteTV.
“Because the season is still on, and I am yet to finish my loan deal. I do not just make decisions alone in my life.

“I have a principle, and I have a guideline for everything I do. I always pray to God to direct me.



“I have seen so many tweets about this. I have seen so many people going crazy, [saying] ‘go back to China’, some say stay with Man United. Have you seen me say a word? I don’t have anything to say.


“When the season’s finished, and I get two offers from the two teams, then I will sit and think about it, pray about it, and whatever God says I should do, I will go with that.”


Ighalo is currently on self-isolation after the Premier League was suspended indefinitely due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.



He won the club’s March Goal-of-the-Month Award after his sparkling effort goal against LASK in the Europa League.

Liverpool icon Sir Kenny Dalglish tests positive for Coronavirus









Liverpool legend, Sir Kenny Dalglish, has tested positive for Coronavirus and is being treated in hospital. 

 

The 69-year-old former Celtic, Liverpool and Scotland player was admitted to hospital on Wednesday for a "treatment of an infection which required intravenous antibiotics". After he got tested for Coronavirus, his result came back positive but "remains asymptomatic".

 

His family issued a statement on Friday night to reassure that he is not in a critical condition.

 

The statement read: ‘Sir Kenny was admitted to hospital on Wednesday 8 April for treatment of an infection which required intravenous antibiotics.

 

‘In keeping with current procedures, he was subsequently tested for COVID-19 despite having previously displayed no symptoms of the illness. Unexpectedly, the test result was positive but he remains asymptomatic.

 

‘Prior to his admission to hospital, Sir Kenny had chosen to voluntarily self isolate for longer than the advised period together with his family. He would urge everyone to follow the relevant government and expert guidance in the days and weeks ahead.

 

‘He would like to take this opportunity to thank the brilliant NHS staff, whose dedication, bravery and sacrifice should be the focus of the nation’s attention at this extraordinary time.

 

‘He would also ask that they are given the space to do their jobs during what is an extremely challenging time for them and that his own family’s privacy is respected.

 

‘He looks forward to being home soon. We will provide further updates as and when it is appropriate.’

Clemens Westerhof: I Will Sue Bonfrere To Clear My Name On Selling USA '94 Game



Last week, former Super Eagles coach, Bonfrere Johannes hugged the headlines when, in an interview, he granted a radio station, he alleged that his former boss, Clemens Westerhof “sold the 1994 World Cup group match between Nigeria and Italy for $100,000 US Dollars”. Nigeria lost that match 1-2, after leading 1-0 and dominating the Italians for most of the match.

The media made a feast of it as the story raised a lot of questions that have remained unanswered.

The man in the eye of the storm and former Eagles coach, Clemens Westerhof has vowed to clear his name, claiming that his former assistant and the Atlanta ’96 Olympic-gold medal winning coach, Bonfrere should be ready to prove his allegations in a court of law in Nigeria.

In an interview with Sports Vanguard yesterday, Westerhof denied the allegation by his former subordinate, labelling him “a green snake under green grass”.

Westerhof said, “No. That is not true. It is a lie. He wants to bring my name in bad light. He knows that the people in Nigeria like me. What happened was that we lost to Roberto Baggio’s two goals, the last was a penalty kick. We lost by two goals to one. That was what happened.”

Westerhof continued, “I will never sell a match. I cannot do that. Never; not to Nigeria which is my second home. I have a house in Nigeria. Maybe, I can come back and stay there.”

He swore, “I will sue him for that. He cannot do this and go free. I have never spoken ill of him here in Dutch papers. He put it on the radio in Nigeria that I sold the match to Italy. I will sue him in Nigeria.

“He will tell the judge who will ask him questions where he got his story, which player he said knew about it. He cannot go free.”

Westerhof said he brought Bonfrere to Nigeria after they had worked together in Holland. He said Bonfrere was a fitness trainer who did a marvelous job for him back home and he decided to bring him so they could work together in Nigeria.

However, on getting here, he noted that Bonfrere became a different person he(Westerhof) never envisaged.

“He is a bad man. I regret it that I brought him because he is a bad man.

“Listen, he had positive things but he could not handle the situation around the Nigerian team, particularly, when he got enmeshed with some officials. I warned him to stay away from them so that together, we would take Nigeria football to the top and we took Nigeria to number 5 in the world.

“At USA, I sent him to watch matches and he brought good reports because he was the only one who could do that.”

Nadine Gonçalves separated from Neymar’s Dad in 2016 announced on Instagram that she is now dating Tiago Ramos.



Tiago Ramos regularly dances in TikTok and is a member of the ‘eSports’ 4k Easy Game Brazilian club, a team which participates in the NFA league, an amateur tournament that serves as the gateway to the professional competitions of the game.

Nadine recently posted a photo of himself and his lover with a caption: “The inexplicable cannot be explained, if you live… ”

Neymar commented on this: “Be happy mom love you”.



Ramos is reportedly a big fan of the PSG/Brazil star.He posted an image of a direct message he sent him back in 2017.




It read: “Neymar you are fantastic, I don’t know how to explain the emotion of being a fan of a guy like you, I see you playing and I’m very motivated, one day I hope to read this message with you, be your brother, and play together.

Ramos’ words came true when he posted an image of him and Neymar together in January.

Former NFL quarterback Tarvaris Jackson killed in car crash in Alabama (Photos)






Former NFL quarterback, Tarvaris Jackson died in a car crash in Alabama on Sunday night. He was 36.
 
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport confirmed the tragic news through Tennessee State University, where Jackson was a quality control and quarterbacks coach on the football team. 
 
According to law enforcement, Jackson's vehicle hit a tree just before 9 PM on Sunday causing the car to overturn. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was ultimately pronounced dead.
 
Jackson was a former second-round pick out of Alabama State by the Vikings in 2006. He spent five seasons in Minnesota, starting 20 games. The signal-caller generated his most prolific season as a 14-game starter for the Seattle Seahawks in 2011, throwing for 3,091 yards and 14 TDs.
 
Jackson, who was drafted in the second of the 2006 NFL Draft, played four seasons with the Minnesota Vikings from 2006 to 2010 before signing with the Seattle Seahawks as a backup to Russell Wilson from 2013-2015, where he earned a Super Bowl ring.
 
Jackson transitioned into coaching in 2018, joining Alabama State as a quality control coach and QB coach. He moved to TSU in 2019.
 
Russell Wilson tweeted about his former teammate early Monday morning saying, "TJack... you will be missed. Praying for your family...Love you man."

COVID-19: I want to be somewhere I feel respected – Rakitic tells Barcelona

Barcelona midfielder, Ivan Rakitic, has criticized his club for trying to force his departure last year as COVID-19 continues to disrupt sporting events globally.



Rakitic is currently on self-isolation after La Liga was suspended due to the spread of COVID-19.
The Croatian international joined Barcelona from Sevilla in 2014.



He has not been regular for the La Liga champions so far this season due to competitions from Arthur and Frenkie De Jong.

The 32-year-old, whose current contract at Barcelona will expire in 2021, was among the players of the Catalan club who wants to leave Camp Nou.
“I understand the situation, but I am not a sack of potatoes, which you can do anything with,” Rakitic told Mundo Deportivo.



“I want to be somewhere I feel wanted and respected. If that’s here, then I’ll be delighted. But, if it’s somewhere else, then I’ll be the one who decides where not anyone else.”

“Last year was the best of the six I’ve had here, and I was annoyed with how I was treated. I was shocked, and I did not understand it,” Rakitic added.

“The results have not been the best, and I have not played much. That is why I felt hurt.



“I had a bizarre first half of the season, and it was very uncomfortable and surprising for me. But I hope I can finish this last year of my contract.”

Liverpool are set to make a world-record of £250 million bid for Kylian Mbappe, if Sadio Mane signs for Real Madrid, according to the UK Sun.



Mane is high on Real’s transfer wishlist and Zinedine Zidane is determined to get the Senegalese forward in the summer window.

The 28-year-old only put pen to paper on new terms with the Reds just 18 months ago.



Mane signed a deal worth £150,000-a-week, which will keep him on Merseyside until 2023.

However, his representatives have been approached, about a possible transfer away from Anfield.

EPL: Three Chelsea players who cried when Mourinho was sacked revealed

Former Reading midfielder, Steve Sidwell, has claimed at least three senior Chelsea players cried when Jose Mourinho was sacked in 2007.



According to Sidwell, several members of the squad were “crying on the floor” when they heard the news.

Mourinho won the Blues’ first league title in 50 years during his first spell at Stamford Bridge, but he left after a breakdown in his relationship with club owner, Roman Abramovich.



Sidwell was signed by Mourinho just months before his departure.

“I never felt that tension or thought he was in trouble,” he told the Athletic.

“There were a few games before, you could see things in the press and it really bubbled up. But you didn’t feel it on the inside.



“The players were all united, no one was turning against him, he hadn’t lost the dressing room.

“The day he went, I was driving my wife to the airport and the news came on the radio. I just thought, “Sh*t, he’s gone. What’s going to happen?”

“We were then all called into a meeting at Cobham.



“It was awkward when Jose came to say his goodbyes. You could have heard a pin drop. It felt like someone had died.

Unforgivable sin if Nigeria fails to qualify for World Cup – Pinnick

The president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, has said it will be an unforgivable sin, if the national team does not qualify for the World Cup.



The next edition is scheduled to take place in Qatar in 2022.

Speaking on Channels TV, Pinnick called on stakeholders to support the federation, in ensuring that the Super Eagles qualify.



“It is a sin you cannot forgive. It is like the Holy Spirit. When you sin against the Holy Spirit, you know that you are going to hell fire.

“So, if you don’t qualify for the world cup, you know what it means to Nigeria. A lot of things are going on and we don’t want to get distracted, irrespective of anything.

“Because this year and next year is going to be a tough call for Nigeria Football. We need to qualify for the World Cup,” he said.



Nigeria are in Group C in the African zone of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Gernot Rohr’s men must see off Liberia, Cape Verde and Central Africa Republic (CAR).

The winners from the 10 groups will be drawn into five home-and-away ties, to decide the five nations that will fly the continent’s flag.

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen reveals he rejected a move to Arsenal after speaking to Arsene Wenger






Super Eagles and Lille striker, Victor Osimhen has revealed he rejected a move to England to play for Arsenal after speaking with the club's former coach, Arsene Wenger.
 
The 21-year-old inform striker first came to Europe in January 2016 when he joined Wolfsburg following his impressive Under 17 World Cup performances. 
 
At the Under 17 World Cup, Osimhen helped Nigeria clinched a fifth Under-17 World Cup title in 2015 and was the top scorer with 10 goals. He won the Golden Boot as well as Silver Ball and was awarded to the second-best player of the tournament.
 

 
The rising star has now disclosed that he had several clubs including Arsenal coming for him after the Under-17 World Cup in Chile. 
 
According to him, he rejected Arsenal after speaking with Wenger and decided to move to Germany because it was better for his development.
 
'I spoke with Arsene Wenger after the tournament ended and he wanted me to come to Arsenal,' he told the Independent. 'I had a lot of options. Barcelona, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, Juventus and the rest.'
 
'Arsenal was a good option but it wasn't the best at the time. I wanted to start playing as soon as I turned 18.
 
'I wanted to go to a place where I had time to invest in my game and improve physically. Wolfsburg showed me that possibility.'
 
Despite rejecting a move to Arsenal three years ago, Osimhen still wants to play in the Premier League.
 
He further went on to reveal that he has been speaking to fellow Nigerian footballer and on-loan Manchester United striker, Odion Ighalo about life in England.
 
'Of course, one day I'd like to play for a big club in England,' he continued.
 

 
'I've spoken to Odion [Ighalo] about it. He gave me very good advice, he's a legend and a big brother. My goal is to play at one of the biggest clubs in the world but now I'm very happy in Lille.
 
'My priority is to play a lot of games. Signing for a big club and being on the bench is not exciting for me.'
 
Victor Osimhen currently plays in France with Ligue 1 outfit Lille. Since signing for the French club, he has scored 18 goals in 38 games in all competitions before the season was suspended due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

COVID-19: New date set for Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua fight

Tyson Fury’s promoter, Bob Arum, has announced a new date for the fight between his client and fellow British boxer Anthony Joshua as Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to disrupt sporting events worldwide.



DAILY POST had reported that Fury and Joshua are both on course for a unification fight after their next contests against Deontay Wilder and Kubrat Pulev, respectively.

Fury knocked out American fighter, Deontay Wilder, in the 7th round at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, USA, in their rematch last February to regain the WBC world heavyweight title.



Joshua defeated Mexican-American boxer, Andy Ruiz Jr, in their rematch last December.
But Arum believes both Fury and Joshua will contest against each other next year in January or February if everything goes well.

“Joshua and Fury are the winners,” Arum told IFL TV.



“No great catastrophe, they will fight sometime next year in January or February 2021.”

Former Super Eagles star, Dickson Etuhu handed a five-year ban for match-fixing in Sweden










Former Nigeria international, Dickson Etuhu has been banned from all football activities in Sweden for five years after his involvement in a match-fixing scandal.
 
The ex-Manchester City and Fulham midfielder, 37, was accused of offering a bribe to his former AIK Stockholm team-mate Kenny Stamatopoulos to fix a game against Gothenburg in May 2017.
 
The Reserve goalkeeper Stamatopoulos was reportedly offered around £180,000 by Utuhu to under-perform after an injury to the club's first choice. 
 
In November 2019, he was found guilty of attempting to fix a match between IFK Gothenburg and AIK in 2017. Etuhu was fined and ordered to serve a period of probation but avoided a prison sentence. 
 
The Swedish Football Association has now taken action to ban the 37-year-old Etuhu and the former IFK Rössjöholm player Alban Jusufi for “deliberately trying to persuade an Allsvenskan player to underperform in one of their team’s matches”.
 
A statement from the Swedish FA read: "The Disciplinary Board has decided to suspend two people because they have deliberately tried to persuade a football player to underperform in one of the team’s matches.
 
"Through their actions, these people have violated the anti-match fixing regulations, and they are therefore suspended for five years.
"The ban includes training, competing or performing any assignments in any sports."
 
This means he will not be allowed to play any part in football in the Scandinavian country until April 13, 2025.
 
Etuhu who made a name for himself in England played for Norwich, Sunderland, Manchester City, Blackburn, and Fulham. 
 
He made the switch to AIK in Sweden in 2015 where he played for two seasons before sealing a move to IFK Rössjöholm and retiring in 2017. 
 
Etuhu also made 33 appearances for Nigeria between 2007 and 2011.

EPL: Chelsea players cried over my departure from Stamford Bridge – Sarri

Juventus manager, Maurizio Sarri, has claimed that many Chelsea players cried in the club’s dressing room when his departure was announced, despite having a “conflicted” relationship with the team.



Sarri left Chelsea last summer for Juventus after spending just a year at Stamford Bridge.
 



The 61-year-old led the Blues to win the Europa League, finish as runners-up in the Carabao Cup, and also deliver a top-four finish in the Premier League.
“The higher you go up the ladder, the harder it is to build personal relationships with your players,” Sarri told Juventus’ official YouTube channel.

“Your surroundings change a lot, and it takes longer to build those relationships. I had a conflicted relationship with the Chelsea dressing room but, when I told them I would be leaving, many of them cried.



“I am not so much a person who pats others on the back. I talk a lot about what they do wrong and less about the good things they do.

“I think that has a big impact, but then they learn to appreciate you for who you are. The longest relationships are with the lads I played least, so I think they recognize something once they absorb your character.”

COVID-19: De Bruyne reveals his family may have suffered from Coronavirus

Manchester City playmaker, Kevin De Bruyne, has disclosed that his family may have contracted Coronavirus (COVID-19) while on lockdown in Manchester.



According to De Bruyne, himself, children, and wife, were sick for some days, but they all recovered before confirming whether the issues were related to COVID-19.

“At the beginning of the lockdown, my family was sick for eight or nine days,” De Bruyne told Sky Sports.



“It started with my little boy, then my older boy and then my wife, but I don’t know if we had [Coronavirus] or not.

“Luckily, we are out of it, and the last two or three weeks have been perfect, and we are finding a routine and everything, so we are okay.

“Well, the first two weeks were a bit weird because I don’t know what is going on.



“Then, I managed to get a treadmill. I was swimming a bit because I’m lucky to have a pool downstairs.

“I was doing a couple of lengths, but now mostly, I’m doing a run, and I would say every other day, I would choose between swimming and doing some exercise, so I am keeping fairly good for what we can on our own, I guess.”

Sancho gives condition to join Manchester United

Borussia Dortmund winger, Jadon Sancho, will only move to Manchester United if the Red Devils can guarantee UEFA Champions League football next season, according to The Athletic.



Man United are currently outside of the Champions League qualification places as they trail fourth-placed Chelsea by three points.
There is still plenty of time for the Old Trafford club to close the gap on the top four.



DAILY POST had reported that Sancho had drawn the interest of Man United in the past few days.
Man United are willing to offer Sancho the no.7 shirt, in a bid to lure him to join the club this summer transfer window.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side is believed to be leading the race to sign Sancho from Dortmund for a club-record fee.



Meanwhile, Manchester United striker, Marcus Rashford, has since welcomed Sancho, to Old Trafford.

Rashford, who is close friends with Sancho, wants the 20-year-old to make a transfer move to join United.”

The Premier League has decided that June 8, is the best-case scenario for the league to restart.



Clubs in the top flight are still eager to finish the 2019/2020 season.

However, the proposal of completing the campaign by June 30, was not discussed during their meeting on Friday.



All the teams were represented on the video call, with the focus on different models for completing the season.

Clubs were shown different models for games restarting and being played in June, July and August. But the Premier League insisted the season will not resume, until the UK government decides it is safe to do so.
Each club has either nine or 10 games left to play.



The government announced on Thursday, that the lockdown would be in place for at least another three weeks until May 7.

Harry Kane has decided that he would rather move to Man United over Real Madrid if he moved away from Tottenham, according to reports.

Kane could be involved in one of the biggest transfer stories of the summer, with his future at Tottenham far from guaranteed after he admitted he would not stay with them “for the sake of it” if they were not showing signs of progressing to match his ambition.

The England captain has been criticised by some for those comments, but he may have a better chance of winning trophies elsewhere, with Manchester United potentially giving him the platform from which to achieve more honours.

And according to Bleacher Report, Kane has now decided that if he was to leave Spurs, then Old Trafford would be his preferred destination instead of Real Madrid, who are also interested in a big-money signing.

The 26-year-old is valued at around £200m, a world-record transfer fee, which would make him available only to the richest clubs in the world, such as Man Utd and Madrid.
