Spain re-appoints Luis Enrique as coach just five months after quitting when his daughter died






Luis Enrique has been re-appointed as the manager of Spain.
 
His re-appointment comes just five months after he quit his role as Spain manager when his daughter, Xanita, 9, died from bone cancer in August.
 
Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) president Luis Rubiales confirmed his return saying 'the doors of the federation and the national team will remain open to him'.
 
At a press conference on Tuesday, Rubiales said: 'Today we can confirm that Luis Enrique will return to his position.'
 
Enrique's assistant, Robert Moreno, took charge in his absence and oversaw Spain's march to the Euro 2020 finals.
 
Rubiales added on Tuesday: 'Luis Enrique can choose his own staff.'
 
Enrique who first took charge of Spain for the first time in July last year won eight of 10 matches and fell to two defeats to England and Croatia during his previous tenure.
 
The 49-year-old, who was formally the coach of Spanish giants, Barcelona, will now lead Spain to next year's European Championship finals and 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Tottenham SACK Mauricio Pochettino after five years at the club

Tottenham have sacked Mauricio Pochettino after a poor start to the season left the club struggling in mid-table.


The Argentine had been under intense scrutiny with Spurs languishing in 14th place in the Premier League with just three league wins all season, a huge fall from grace after he led the side to the Champions League final in the summer.


There had been reports West Ham game would crucial in determining his future, but the club have now decided to act in an attempt to arrest the team's slump down the table.

'The Club can today announce that Mauricio Pochettino and his coaching staff Jesus Perez, Miguel D'Agostino and Antoni Jimenez have been relieved of their duties,' it said in a statement.

Chairman, Daniel Levy, said: 'We were extremely reluctant to make this change and it is not a decision the Board has taken lightly, nor in haste.

'Regrettably domestic results at the end of last season and beginning of this season have been extremely disappointing..

'We shall provide an update on new coaching staff in due course.'

Speculation will be heating up regarding the Argentine's successor - Leipzig's Julian Nagelsmann, Napoli's Carlo Ancelotti and Bournemouth's Eddie Howe have all been heavily linked.

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the appointment of Jose Mourinho as their new manager after parting ways with former manager, Mauricio Pochettino. Speaking on their official website, they said,
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Jose Mourinho as Head Coach on a contract that runs until the end of the 2022/23 season.

Jose is one of the world’s most accomplished managers having won 25 senior trophies. He is renowned for his tactical prowess and has managed FC Porto, Inter Milan, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester United. He has won a domestic title in a record four different countries (Portugal, England, Italy and Spain) and is one of only three managers to have won the UEFA Champions League twice with two clubs, FC Porto in 2004 and Inter Milan in 2010. He is also a three-time Premier League Champion with Chelsea (2005, 2006, 2015).

Commenting on the appointment, Chairman Daniel Levy said: “In Jose we have one of the most successful managers in football. He has a wealth of experience, can inspire teams and is a great tactician. He has won honours at every club he has coached. We believe he will bring energy and belief to the dressing room.”

Speaking on his appointment, Jose said: “I am excited to be joining a Club with such a great heritage and such passionate supporters. The quality in both the squad and the academy excites me. Working with these players is what has attracted me.”

Remember Sani Emmanuel? That prolific footballer that made headlines for his performances in the 2009 u-17 FIFA World Cup....Well he has now come out to reveal why he retired prematurely from his football career even though Chelsea football club of England and Lazio FC of Italy wanted to sign him.


Emmanuel was awarded the Golden Ball as the Most Valuable Player of the 2009 FIFA U17 World Cup hosted by Nigeria, scoring five goals to help the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria reach the final of the competition, and after the Under-17 World Cup, Emmanuel had successful trials at Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur but the moves never went through.
 
                                            
 
Emmanuel has now revealed how his injury stopped him from progressing and how many professional footballers he turned to for help couldn't help him.
 
Emmanuel told Leero Sports News : ''I had problems on my foot, even during the tournament in 2009.

''If you remember, I often came on in the second half because the pain was unbearable.

''After the World Cup, I could not play at all because I had played too much with pain. Then I had to stop my career, even today, I always feel hurt on the front of the foot.''

''I tried to contact a lot of Nigerian international players, but I never got an answer and it was very difficult to get money.

''I returned to anonymity, without work, without anything. I wanted to set up an academy, but I never managed to get help and I'm still looking for it.''

EPL: Mourinho’s salary at Tottenham Hotspur revealed




Salary of Tottenham Hotspur manager, Jose Mourinho has been revealed.
Mourinho was appointed as the new manager of Tottenham on Wednesday morning following the sack of Mauricio Pochettino.

DAILY POST recalls that Pochettino was dismissed by Tottenham on Tuesday night following the club’s poor form this season.
However, Daily Mail is now reporting that Mourinho will earn almost double the wage of his predecessor, Pochettino at £15 million a year.
Speaking on his appointment, Mourinho told the club’s official website: “I am excited to be joining a Club with such a great heritage and such passionate supporters.

EPL: Dele Alli reacts as Tottenham sack Pochettino





Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Dele Alli, has expressed his gratitude to Mauricio Pochettino, for the impact he had on his career.

The Argentine was sacked on Tuesday with Spurs’ chairman, Daniel Levy, citing the club’s “extremely disappointing” start to the season for the decision.


Pochettino spent five-and-a-half years in north London and Spurs qualified for the Champions League four times during that period.

“I can’t thank this man enough.

“He’s taught me so much and I’m so grateful for everything he’s done for me. Good luck and hope to see you again my friend,” Alli tweeted.

Man City vs Chelsea: What Jorginho said about Premier League clash


Chelsea midfielder, Jorginho has predicted a ‘tough’ clash when Frank Lampard’s side take on Manchester City in the Premier League fixture on Saturday evening.


According to Jorginho, the Blues will have to work hard to beat Pep Guardiola’s men at the Etihad Stadium, adding that the Citizens are one of the best teams in the world.


Chelsea head to the game following a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace in their last encounter.

Chelsea is expected to be without Christian Pulisic, for their trip to Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday, the UK Sun reports.
Pulisic withdrew from international duty with the USA this week, due to a hip complaint and is doubtful for the game.

The 21-year-old has turned things around in recent games, after a slow start to life at Stamford Bridge.
Pulisic has scored five times for Frank Lampard’s team and has become one of the first names on the team sheet.
Ross Barkley, who missed the last clash with Crystal Palace, is also likely not to face City.

In his first interview at the club, Mourinho vowed to bring “passion” and “happiness” to the club. 

“I couldn’t be happier and if I was not as happy as I am, I wouldn’t be here. What can I promise? Passion, real passion. Passion for my job, but also a passion for my club, that’s the way I have been all my career and I want to try, obviously, everything to bring happiness to everyone who loves the club. According to The Times, Mourinho contacted Kane in a text message after his appointment to tell the England international he is the best striker in Europe and would help his Spurs team win silverware.

DAILY POST recalls that Mourinho replaced Mauricio Pochettino on Wednesday after the Argentine was dismissed by Tottenham on Tuesday night following the club’s poor form this season.
Azpilicueta, who played under Mourinho during the 56-year-old’s time at Chelsea, told Sky Sports: “I can talk only when Jose was here at Chelsea with us. We won trophies, and now football moves on.

Italian goalkeeper suspended by his club after he was caught having 'sex in nightclub toilet’






Italian goalkeeper and Reggio Audace star, Matteo Voltolini has been suspended by his club after he was caught having sex in a nightclub toilet’
 
The 23-year-old who didn't play any part in their 2-1 win over Vis Pesaro on Sunday (Nov.17) visited a local nightspot that same night.
 
According to Corriere Dello Sport, Voltolini met a young woman at the club, who he started flirting with before they ended up in the toliet, where they had sex. Unknown to them, a fellow clubber secretly filmed the couple romping in a toilet cubicle.

A 15-second clip of the couple having sex went viral after being posted on social media.

Reggio Audace said in a statement: "We announce the preventive suspension from sporting activities of our player Matteo Voltolini for one week.
 
"This is while we wait to learn in full about the post-match events on Sunday November 17."

According to The Sun, Voltolin, who has made three appearances for Audace is considering legal action, claiming a breach of privacy.

Former Heavyweight champion of the World, Anthony Joshua has made a rather erratic statement about what he expects from fans after he fights Andy Ruiz this December in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
 
Mexican-American, Ruiz, shocked the boxing world when he beat Joshua in 7 rounds in New York's Madison Square Garden in June, but Joshua believes he will be adored this time around if he regains the 3 heavyweight belts on the line.
 
'I'm fighting the best man in the world now. I'm going to whup him, and show how great I am,' Joshua told Sky Sports.
 
                                 
 
They think he's so great, so when I beat him I want everybody to bow to my feet and tell me how great I am.

Disrespectful. Wrong. Ungrateful' - Spanish press slam Gareth Bale for his controversial flag celebrations



                      


Spanish newspapers have slammed Real Madrid and Wales forward Gareth Bale, after he held up a banner that seemed to make mockery of his commitments to club side, Real Madrid.
 
Bale, who helped Wales qualify for Euro 2020 this week, celebrated with a Welsh flag that read: 'Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order.', trying to suggest that he had more love and commitment for Wales and Golf before Madrid.
 
His public show of apparent dissent has gone down badly in Spain, where newspapers have not held back in their criticism.
 
The reports say the 30-year-old has shown a lack of class with his celebrations, relegating playing for Real to the least important in his mind.
 
Top newspaper, Marca have hit back with their front cover of Thursday's morning paper which reads :  'Disrespectful. Wrong. Ungrateful. In that order.'
 

 
And rival title AS has drawn up a front page with shows Bale stood over a golf putt with the headline: "Bale in a hole."
 

 
Also, former Real president Ramon Calderon has accused the former Spurs star of being "childish" with his actions.
 
Bale, who has attracted interest from Chinese clubs, Tottenham and Manchester united, claimed that he saw the banner celebration as 'fun' and reports also indicate Marid coach Zinedine Zidane who has accused Bale severally of wanting to play golf more than football over the past six months, doesn't plan to punish the winger for his celebration.
 
When Bale was asked about it in an interview by Sgorio Cymru, he said: 'I've heard it, especially when I was on the bench and when I came off, and the boys were laughing.

John Fashanu: I Earn N5 Million Monthly As Ex - England Player


A former England striker of Nigerian descent, John Fashanu has revealed that he still receives N5m monthly as pension from the English Football Association. The former Wimbledon striker who made this known on Tuesday in Abuja was explaining why it is becoming increasingly difficult to convince players with Nigerian roots to dump their adopted countries.

Saying Nigeria must put in place attractive welfare packages for all former players of the national team, Fashanu expressed support for players like Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori who have decided to play for England and not Nigeria, their country of origin.

“Till today, I still get my benefits, my pensions. I get N5m monthly as pensions for being an ex-footballer in England and I am now in my 50s.

“Tammy knows why he hasn’t played for the Super Eagles and it’s because there is more financial benefits playing for England, there is more glory and less wahala.

“Why do we ask the boy to play for Nigeria and torture him? We need to step up. Tammy is a massive miss for Nigeria. Nobody went to London to talk to him and explain to him the benefits of playing for his motherland.

“And when you hear what happened to Kanu Nwankwo, Jay Jay Okocha, did anybody come out to defend him over his tax bills, did anybody come out to defend Kanu when he had issues with his hotel,” he asked.

 Wilfred Ndidi Is Nigeria’s Highest Paid Player In Europe 




Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi is the highest-paid Super Eagles player in Europe this season, Sports Extra reports.

The 22-year-old, who joined the Foxes from Genk for £17m in 2016, earns £3.9m per annum, (approximately £75,000 a week) according to a study by Spotrac.

Ndidi, barring any last-minute hitch, will play his 100th game for Leicester City in Saturday’s clash against Brighton & Hove Albion at the King Power Stadium.

He is also the fifth highest earner at Leicester behind Jamie Vardy (£7.28m), Kasper Schmeichel (£6.76m), Johnny Evans (£4.16m) and Adrien Silva (£4.16m).

In second place is Kelechi Iheanacho who earns £60,000 per week (£3.12m). Iheanacho has found regular time hard to come by at Leicester, fueling speculations he may be sent out on loan when the January transfer window reopens.

Alex Iwobi who joined Everton from Arsenal last summer for £40m, pockets £50,000 per week, (£2.6m) making him the third-highest Eagles earner.

Completing the top five are Trabzonspor’s Anthony Nwakaeme and Watford’s Isaac Success. Both earn £32,000 and £30,000 respectively weekly.

In sixth place is former Eagles skipper, Mikel Obi, who earns £30,000 per week while the pair of Torino’s Ola Aina and Kenneth Omeruo take home £20,000 weekly each.

William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun complete the top 10 list with weekly earnings of £19,500 and £18,269 respectively.
