RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

FRIDAY, 30TH AUGUST

RELATE IN LOVE

Be tolerant with one another and forgive one another whenever any of you has a complaint against someone else. You must forgive one another just as the Lord has forgiven you (Colossians 3:13 GNB).

In today’s world, winds of intolerance are blowing strongly. It’s common to find those who can’t control their temper. Little things infuriate them and make them exhibit such anger that’s unbecoming of Christians. They’d make such comments as, “I can’t stand that brother or sister.” You could even hear their persistent complaints and whining about the Church premises: “I can’t stand this place; it’s just somehow; I don’t think I’ll keep coming to this Church.” They have people, places, and things they can’t tolerate. Don’t be that way!

But think about it: The Bible says, “By his (God’s) spirit he hath garnished the heavens…” (Job 26:13). The Holy Spirit created the whole world and beautified the Heavens, yet He’s so humble and so gracious to come live in you. In all His greatness and magnificence, He considers you qualified to be His house, His living tabernacle. In spite of your imperfections and idiosyncrasies, He still loves you. Why then should you, for whatever reason, say you can’t stand someone else? Why should you resent or find anyone repulsive?

If the Holy Ghost could come to live in you, then be humble. Emulate Him, for the Bible says, “Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us…” (Ephesians 5:1-2). Let Him be your focus. If you love Jesus, it’ll show in your relationship with others.
Our theme verse says, “Be tolerant with one another….” Be humble to accommodate and tolerate your brothers and sisters in Christ.

The Bible says no one should “...think of himself more highly than he ought to think...” (Romans 12:3). God expects you to think highly of yourself, but you’re not to exalt yourself above others.

If you found yourself exhibiting traits of resentment and intolerance, consciously re-culture yourself with the Word. Be sure to only give vent to the love of God in your life

CONFESSION

With all humility, gentleness, and patience, I relate with others graciously, lavishly expressing God’s love to my world. I’m accommodative and kind towards others, giving allowance for their shortcomings and imperfections, because the love of God is shed abroad in my heart by the Holy Ghost.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE: FRIDAY 30TH AUGUST 2019

THEME: THE POWER OF THE TONGUE.

MEMORISE:

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Proverbs 18:21

READ: Numbers 13:25-33

25 And they returned from searching of the land after forty days.

26 And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and shewed them the fruit of the land.

27 And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.

28 Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there.

29 The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan.

30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

31 But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

32 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.

33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

MESSAGE

A person’s words have enormous influence for good or evil and are a sure indicator of the person’s character. The impact of our speech cannot be over emphasized, for the Bible makes it clear that a man’s speech has power of life and death (Proverbs 18:21), and is also capable of bringing success or misfortune to the speaker, as shown in Proverbs 12:13-14, which says:

“The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth”

Job 19:12 reveals that a person’s can destroy others but it also has the capacity to give life to its hearers (Isaiah 50:4). You can easily identify the righteous by their speech. In Isaiah 50:4, this category of people are referred to as “the learned”. “Learned” in this sense does not refer to legal practice, it rather refers to those who are knowledgeable in God’s word. Such people do not speak carelessly. The understand the weight of words and use their words effectively, knowing that someday, they will have to account for every idle word they have spoken. Whenever they open their mouth, a bit of what is stored within them comes forth in line with Mathew 12:34b which says:

“for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.”

For those who are genuinely saved, our speech and actions are controlled by God’s word that is hidden in our hearts. Psalm 37:30-31 says:

“ The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment. The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.”

When God’s word fills your heart, your mouth will open in wisdom. This is why the righteous take out time to hide God’s word in their heart, and their words are like food to the hearers. If you sit by a righteous man for counselling, what you will hear within a few minutes will put you on the right path. Even the foolish hears the words of the righteous and receive wisdom. Sinners hear the words of salvation from them. The sick receives words of healing, while the hopeless receive encouragement from them. You cannot you cannot listen to a righteous man or woman and not be impacted. No wonder his mouth is called a well of life (Proverbs 10:11). There is a fountain of goodness in the righteous, so that whenever they open their mouth, living waters flow out of it. The righteous is a source of inspiration, and his words feed the faith of others, directing them to the path of righteousness. You need to be
Conscious of the manner of speech you produce. As a child of God, please watch your tongue. Wise children of God must learn to use the power in their tongue effectively to pull down the strongholds of the devil in their lives and family. I pray that your tongue will begin to yield fruits of peace and prosperity from this day in the Name of Jesus.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, help me to use my tongue to promote the cause of Your kingdom in Jesus’ Name.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 Samuel 17-18
Ezekiel 42::-14

AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

HYMN 5: LET OTHERS SEE JESUS IN YOU.

1.While passing thro' this world of sin,
and others your life shall view,
Be clean and pure without, within;
Let others see Jesus in you.

Refrain:
Let others see Jesus in you,
Let others see Jesus in you.
Keep telling the story, be faithful and true;
Let others see Jesus in you.

2. Your life's a book before their eyes,
They're reading it thro' and thro'
Say, does it point them to the skis,
Do others see Jesus in you?

Refrain

3. Then live for Christ both day and night,
Be faithful, be brave and true,
and lead the lost to life and Christ.
Let others see Jesus in you.

SEEDS OF DESTINY*

*UNDERSTANDING TRUE WORSHIP*

30 August, 2019

True worship is a heart chase after God. It is the pursuit of God, a state of continual longing for God. True worshippers are God chasers. In this world, everyone is chasing one thing or the other; there are those chasing after money, women, men, fame, accomplishments, etc., but true worshippers are chasers of God.

SCRIPTURE: But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. John 4:23

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: True worshippers are God chasers.

The scripture confirms in Isaiah 43:21 and Psalms 150:6 that the main purpose of our existence is to worship and praise God. And from our anchor scripture, it is confirmed that true worship is what the Father wants from us, implying that there is also false worship. So, this places a demand on us to understand what true worship is all about.
Now, what is true worship? We are looking at three definitions of true worship today.

1. True worship is a heart chase after God. It is the pursuit of God, a state of continual longing for God. True worshippers are God chasers. In this world, everyone is chasing one thing or the other; there are those chasing after money, women, men, fame, accomplishments, etc., but true worshippers are chasers of God.

2. True worship is the submission and surrender of life to God. Submission and surrender to God implies giving God the final say in all things in your life; it is refusing to be seen or heard but allowing God to be seen and heard through you.

3. True worship is being open to God. We have so many people on earth today whose lives are not real. There are those who even try to cover up themselves in the Presence of God, but true worship is being open to God in utmost sincerity.
Beloved, true worship is beyond singing, dancing or lifting up hands in church; it is a chase after God, total surrender to Him and being open to Him. As you yield yourself to true worship, I see God overwhelming you with His glory, in Jesus Name.

Remember this: True worshippers are God chasers.

ASSIGNMENT(S):

1. Live a lifestyle of praise and worship.
2. Let your life be a reflection of true worship.
FOR FURTHER UNDERSTANDING, GET THIS MESSAGE: UNDERSTANDING TRUE WORSHIP

TAREA(S):

*OUR DAILY MANNA DEVOTIONAL*

_A DAILY DEVOTIONAL BOOKLET FOR CHAMPIONS_

*DATE: FRIDAY 30TH AUGUST, 2019*

*TOPIC: WHEN THE TIGER ROARED AGAIN! – Part 2*

*BASIC SCRIPTURE: PSALM 37:21-27; MICAH 7:8*

The Holy Ghost is using the story of Tiger Woods to teach your heart a new lesson in courage, determination and NEVER, EVER, QUITTING! You are never defined by a fall, because all men are mortal and full of errors! What defines you is how you rise after a fall! You can bounce back a million times after a million falls! Write to your PAST:

“Dear past, thank you for the lesson!” Then write to your FUTURE: “Dear future, I AM READY to SOAR!” Never allow anything to STOP YOU! People who fall the hardest, bounce back the highest! Oh! Rise and rise again until LAMBS become LIONS! Mirai Nagasu quipped: “If I fall, I’ll take the fall and get up and keep going.” The Holy Ghost is speaking to a user of today’s devotional, “That mistake is not your last bus-stop!”

Before Mr. Tiger Woods went though his divorce and alcohol battles, his late father once told him: “it’s ok for a man to cry! It is not a sign of weakness but of strength.” After his victory at the MASTERS, Serena Williams tweeted concerning Mr. Tiger Woods: “I am literally in tears watching @TigerWoods. This is Greatness like no other.

Knowing all you have been through physically to come back and do what you just did today? Wow! Congrats a million times! I am so inspired, thank you buddy.” More TWEETS poured in like an inspiring rainy season: “You demonstrated that the will to prepare to win is much greater than the will to win. Only the great ones have it and understand it!” From far away Switzerland – “I am so elated for Tiger. How I wish his father, who introduced him to golf, was alive to witness this historic win!”

Wow! Another tweet: “This is a good story! I will tell my next generation. I will say to my grandkids: ‘Africa is rich with talent. We have Tiger and Serana who represent us in the sports where they say we will never make it. African child; never let your beauty and skill stop you from shining!” Former basketball player, Magic Johnson, posted this:

“The roar of the Tiger is back.” Ah! I am commanded to tell you this: YOU ARE UNSTOPPABLE in life, family and ministry! The true measure of success is how many times you bounce back from failure! Michael Jordan said: “I can accept failure! Everyone fails at something! But I cannot accept NOT TRYING!”

No wonder Psalm 37:24 says: “Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with His hand.” That means even the righteous may fall or make mistakes but NO MISTAKE, FAILURE or ERROR will be THE FINAL CHAPTER of your life! Why? Because the HAND of the LORD will stir you from FAILURE to FORTUNE! And a close friend summed up the incredible victory of Tiger Woods thus: *“The worst emotion anyone can feel is shame and he had a real dose of it. From the great height of elite athlete to become the laughing stock of the late-night TV joke. He’s turned it all around.”* Oh! Remember Tiger Woods! You too will bounce back and make it big! Amen and amen!

*Tomorrow, AUGUST 31ST, 2019 is Lagos (Ogudu) anointing service. Theme: “RISE AND FALL MUST SCATTER!” Come with three special prayer points.*
*PRAYER POINTS:* Take any song of victory as led!

1. In your own words, pray about today’s word as led now.
2. *Dear past, thank you for the lesson! Dear future, I AM READY to SOAR!* Thank you Lord for the Word today! I rise above self pity, depression or self hate! Pray about today seriously now!

- International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances

TOPIC: SHAMED, BUT NOT ASHAMED
MEMORISE:

Then the multitude rose up together against them; and the magistrates tore off their clothes and commanded them to be beaten with rods (Acts 16:22)

EXPOSITION

Today is when the victims of enforced disappearances, are being remembered. Let us learn from how some ministers of the gospel were tried to be muzzled in the Bible, and their responses.

Many youths give the reason for not participating in street, or bus evangelism as being shy, but the Master warns otherwise (Mk. 8:38). Our forebears in faith suffered many things for the gospel's sake, but stood for the gospel with their flesh and blood.

They saw the gospel as a must, in spite of the serious intimidation and harassment. Though maltreated, opposed, looked down upon, oppressed, hungered, with much hazards, they went on to please their Lord, delivered the people from darkness, sickness and death, knowing fully well that their rewards lie not with the people but with God. Peter and John could not be hindered by the high priests.

They bid them not to speak again in Jesus' name (Acts 4:18). Instead of remaining silent and be freed, they preferred to be flogged, and were even happy suffering for Christ (Acts 4:19-20; 5:41; Rom. 5:3-5). Are you not also saying, "A whole me?" The empty barrel makes the loudest noise.

Let us bury our pride, consider less of the people's behaviour to us, and think more of God and His work. As a pastor, elder, deacon, youth leader in your church, do you see yourself as servants, rather than their lords? Paul suffered most, among the apostles of Jesus and did greater work (2 Cor. 11:23-28). Why? He despised the shame and pressed towards the utmost height, where his rewards are (Phil. 3:8-10). Allow your affections to be on things above and not on worldly, perishable things. If you are shamed, do not be ashamed to work with, and for God.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Lord, I vow never to be ashamed to preach the gospel.
2. Oh Lord, help me to see You and Your work above my person and status.
3. Father, let the spirit of evangelism enter into our leaders, some of whom are busy amassing wealth at the expense of the spread of the gospel.
