Transfer: Adrien Rabiot takes final decision on joining Man United from PSG
 


Paris Saint-Germain, PSG, star, Adrien Rabiot, has said that he will take a final decision on his future soon in the face of interest from Manchester United.
DAILY POST had reported last month that the Rabiot has drawn interest from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

The 24-year-old has also drawn interest from Juventus in recent weeks.
Rabiot, whose current deal at PSG will expire this summer, has fallen out of favour with manager Thomas Tuchel, at the Parc des Princes.
He has not featured for Tuchel’s side since December following a bust-up with PSG executives during contract negotiations.

The player has also refused to rule out moving to Man United this summer and hinted that a decision on his future would soon be made.
“I’ve spoken with Juventus, it’s a great club where everyone would like to play,” Rabiot told Corriere dello Sport.
“I like Italy so much, it’s wonderful here. A demanding season awaits me. At Juventus? Juve watched me and we talked about it, but I can’t say anything.

“Manchester United? It’s the same as last year, I have to decide. I’m on vacation for now. Soon you will know.”

Transfer: Klopp ready to sell Salah 


Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp, would be willing to sacrifice Mohamed Salah, if it meant landing Lille forward, Nicolas Pepe, according to le10sport.
Pepe has been subject of one bid from Liverpool already, but the Ligue 1 outfit do not deem it enough.

It is believed that Lille have received two other offers for the Ivorian forward.
However, Klopp wants the player and due to an increasingly complicated relationship with Salah, would be willing to see the Egyptian sold if it allows the Reds to land Pepe.
Both men reportedly clashed last season, while Liverpool was trying to win both the Premier League and Champions League.

The Reds eventually won the latter, defeating Tottenham 2-0 in the final.

Why Nigeria, Senegal friendly will be played behind closed doors
 


Sunday’s International friendly match between Nigeria and Senegal, will be played behind closed doors.
This was confirmed by the Super Eagles media officer, Toyin Ibitoye, who also stated that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has given a go-ahead.

According to him, both coaches have made this joint decision, as they hope to use the practice game to run through some last-minute tactical experiments on their respective teams.
“Both coaches agreed that the game should be played behind closed doors and this move has been backed by CAF.
“The plan is to ensure that the game is away from public view — and overzealous challenges.

“The team trains twice a day and are prepared for the task of doing the country proud,” Ibitoye said according to Goal.
Nigeria will play in Group B at the Nations Cup alongside Guinea, Madagascar and Burundi.

Transfer: Man Utd ready to pay De Gea more than £350,000-a-week 


Manchester United are ready to make David De Gea an improved offer, in a bid to keep him at Old Trafford beyond June 2020, ESPN reports.
De Gea, who is being targeted by Paris Saint-Germain, recently turned down a five-year United contract worth £350,000 a week.

Negotiations over a new deal have been ongoing for 18 months, but appeared to have stalled.
It led to speculations that United were prepared to pay the Spaniard millions to leave in the summer, in order to avoid him leaving for free next year.
De Gea reportedly earns £240,000 a week, half of what teammate Alexis Sanchez takes home.

Although he had a difficult second half of last season, making a number of errors as United missed out on a top-four finish, De Gea remains a key player for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Chelsea reach agreement with Juventus over Sarri 


Juventus have reached an agreement with Chelsea over a deal for Maurizio Sarri, Sky Italia reports.
No official confirmation has been received from Chelsea yet, but Sarri is expected to sign a three-year deal with the Serie A champions on Friday.

Juve announced in May, that head coach Massimiliano Allegri would be leaving the club and have been trying to bring in a replacement ever since.
However, the level of compensation for Sarri, had held up his return to Italy.
Both clubs have now struck a deal, with Chelsea expected to receive more than £5million, potentially leaving the way clear for Derby manager Frank Lampard to return to Stamford Bridge.

Allegri reveals next move after leaving Juventus
 


Massimiliano Allegri has confirmed he will take a year away from football, after being sacked by Juventus.
The Italian wants to spend more time with family and friends, after his stint with the Serie A champions

Juventus won the title under Allegri’s guidance, but were knocked out of the Champions League in the quarter-final stages by Ajax, prompting widespread calls for his dismissal.
And despite some talk he could do a job swap with Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea, Allegri has confirmed his intention to take time away from the sport.
“I am going to take a year off to recharge the batteries and take my personal life back in hand, rediscover after many years the affection of my family, children and friends.

“The last 16 years have felt like being in a blender. You have to take time away from what you usually spend with family and friends.
“I’ll use this year to recharge my batteries ahead of the next season,” Allegri said at an event on leadership in Milan on Thursday evening.

Transfer: Fenerbahce take final decision on Chelsea loanee, Victor Moses’ future

 


Fenerbahce have finally decided to keep Chelsea loanee, Victor Moses, next season.
The Turkish side wants to keep the former Super Eagles star at the club next season after the player was linked with a move to join his former manager, Antonio Conte at Inter Milan this summer.

Moses joined Fernerbahce on an 18-month loan deal from Chelsea in January.
According to Hurriyet, Fernerbahce manager, Ersun Yanal, has held talks with the club’s director Damien Comolli, and a decision was made to retain the winger, who scored 4 goals in 16 appearances for club last campaign.
Turkish newspaper quoted Yanal as saying: ”Moses is a very high quality player. I believe he will be much more useful next season. What should be done to stay must be done”.

Transfer: Lukaku “agrees terms with Inter Milan” as Man Utd exit nears 


Manchester striker, Romelu Lukaku, has “agreed personal terms” with Inter Milan, Gazzetta dello Sport reports.
Lukaku has emerged as the Serie A club’s top target, following the arrival of new manager Antonio Conte.

It is understood that the forward has accepted terms, that could see him earn £6.6million in bonuses until 2024.
Negotiations between the two clubs continue to rumble on and United are understood to want at least £62m.

Lukaku, 26, seems to be angling for a move having seen his playing time reduced under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last season, when Marcus Rashford was deployed as a central striker.

Mikel Obi identifies two extremely gifted players, five most experienced stars in Super Eagles squad 


Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel has named Villarreal forward, Samuel Chukwueze and FC Midtjylland striker, Paul Onuachu, as the two incredibly talented players in Gernot Rohr’s squad.
He also identified William Ekong, Leon Balogun, Kenneth Omeruo, Ahmed Musa and Abdullahi Shehu as the five most experienced stars presently in the Super Eagles team.

The seven players are all included in Super Eagles’ final 23-man 2019 Africa Cup of Nations squad in Egypt.
Mikel told Super Eagles media team: ”There are incredibly talented players, I have seen them – Chukwueze, the tall striker Paul Onuachu. You can see there is a lot of energy in the team.

Real Madrid have completed the signing of FC Tokyo midfielder Takefusa Kubo, dubbed the 'Japanese Lionel Messi'.

Kubo, who was once on Madrid's arch rivals Barcelona's books, made his debut for Japan's senior team last month and will feature for his country at the Copa America in Brazil.
On Friday, the La Liga outfit revealed that the exciting talent will join up with their Castilla youth team in Spain's third division next campaign.

'Real Madrid will have one of the most promising young players in world football, an attacking midfielder of excellent technique and very skilled,' the statement said.

The 18-year-old earned his special nickname after being invited to Barcelona's youth academy as a nine-year-old back in 2011 before leaving four years later.

Portugal Climb Up To 5th In Latest FIFA Rankings As Belgium Stretch Lead






Several of the biggest names in international football have made significant gains in the latest edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking.

While Belgium (1st, unchanged) continue at the top, increasing their advantage over France (2nd, unchanged) following UEFA EURO qualifying wins over Kazakhstan and Scotland, there was plenty of movement elsewhere in the top 20. Portugal (5th, up 2), for example, moved into the top five on the back of their UEFA Nations League triumph, while the Netherlands (14th, up 2) edged upwards after reaching the final of the same competition.

A trio of former world champions are also on the rise. Spain (7th, up 2), Germany (11th, up 2) and Italy (14th, up 3) all ascended the global ladder on the back of positive results in the EURO qualifiers.

There were plenty of success stories elsewhere, too, with the likes of Austria (26th, up , Northern Ireland (28th, up 5), Czech Republic (41st, up 7), Hungary (42nd, up 9), Armenia (97th, up 9) and Malaysia (159, up 9) racing up the Ranking. There was also reason to celebrate for Senegal (22nd, up 1) and Kosovo (121st, up 6), both of whom reached their highest position to date.

The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be published on 25 July 2019.

€252 MILLION! Mbappe Beats Messi & Ronaldo To Be The Most Valuable Player

Kylian Mbappe is the most valuable player in Europe with teammate Neymar dropping almost out of the top 20 after recently losing up to €90 million in his transfer value.

If there was any chance of PSG selling Kylian Mbappe this summer then it's likely that the phone at the Paris club's offices wouldn't stop ringing for offers, because he's literally the most valuable player in Europe.

According to transfer boffins CIES Observatory, and their algorithm, the 20 year old is currently worth €252 million in the transfer market, €32 million more than second placed Mo Salah.

Raheem Sterling is the only other player on the list worth more than €200 million with Lionel Messi in fourth on €167 million and Jadon Sancho rounding up the top five on €159 millions

Age obviously plays into Mbappe's billing as top of the charts way ahead of Lionel Messi, as well as the fact that his contract has two extra years on that of the Argentina superstar, so it's not a reflection of the best player necessarily.

Premier League clubs will be very happy to see so many of their players fit into the top 10 and they make up many of the next 10 as well.

It's in that 10-20 bracket that both Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo sit with it being revealed this week that the Brazilian had lost up to €90 million on his valuation just since the start of 2019.

Ronaldo's age no doubt adds to his value being as low as €118 million, although it's still more than what Juventus paid for him last year so they got a bargain.
Liverpool's Trent Alexander Arnold is the most valuable defender right now and teammate Virgil van Dijk is second on that list in 22nd overall, worth €112 million, just ahead of the goalkeeper union's most expensive player Alisson, worth €107 million.

Frank Lampard is set for an emotional return to Chelsea, as the club prepare to formally offer him the manager’s job and will bring some of his former team-mates, SportsMail reports.

Derby County will not stand in Lampard’s way, provided Chelsea are respectful in their pursuit and pay a £4million compensation.

Negotiations between Chelsea and their all-time leading goalscorer to become Maurizio Sarri’s successor, will take place once permission is granted by the Championship side.

Lampard’s imminent return has seen a growing determination at Stamford Bridge, to bring back more of the club’s legends.

Petr Cech is set to return in a technical role, although no final decision will be made until his Arsenal contract expires on June 30.

There is also a long-standing desire to bring Didier Drogba back to the club in some capacity, while former midfielder Claude Makelele, who quit as manager of Belgian side Eupen on Friday, has also been linked with a return.

Phillipe Coutinho scored a Brace as hosts Brazil started the 2019 Copa America tournament with a 3-0 win against Bolivia, MySportDab reports.

Brazil felt Neymar's absence in the first half, with its attack unable to do much against the Bolivian defense.

Young Ajax forward David Neres, replacing Neymar in the starting lineup, couldn't add the spark Brazil needed up front.

Firmino and Richarlison also couldn't get anything going early on, leading to the halftime jeers by most in the crowd of 46,342 at the Morumbi.

It didn't take long for Brazil to get the crowd back on board in the second half, with Coutinho opened the scoring from the penalty spot after video review determined a handball by Bolivia defender Adrian Jusino.

The midfielder quickly added the second minutes later with a close-range header after Firmino's well-placed cross.

Everton, who replaced Neres, scred the third goal with a right-footed shot from outside the area after clearing a couple of defenders.

"We started well but as the time passed and we didn't score the team got a bit too anxious," Brazil coach Tite said.

"In the second half we were able to impose our game."

Brazil next faces Venezuela in Group A, while Bolivia hosts Peru.

Nigeria To Play Offensive Football In Egypt - Gernot Rohr


The Super Eagles are planning to go all out as they target their fourth continental crown in Egypt.


Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr revealed that his side are aiming to score more goals and will play offensive football at the Africa Cup of Nations finals.

The three-time African champions have included nine forwards in their 23-man squad list for the biennial showpiece.

Changchun Yatai's Odion Ighalo leads the frontline with Ahmed Musa, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, Henry Onyekuru, Alex Iwobi, Samuel Kalu, Paul Onuachu and Victor Osimhen all included.
Despite settling for a goalless draw in their build-up game against Zimbabwe last Saturday, Rohr sees the available options upfront as an opportunity for the team to switch tactics during play and also give chance for fresh legs.

"We have a lot of strikers which means we want to score more goals and play offensive football, we also have good defenders," Rohr told Goal.

"Some of our strikers could play in the midfield or in the plan 3-5-2 on the side, so it is good to have the opportunity to change in our offensive methods.

"We have quickness and ability to change in the offensive department, We can also give them the chance to rest."

Vivianne Miedema scored twice to become The Netherlands’ all-time leading goalscorer as the European champions beat Cameroon 3-1 yesterday to reach the last 16 at the women’s World Cup

Cameroon, playing the Netherlands for the first time in a competitive match, adopted a cautious approach at Stade du Hainaut, with five players in the back line and four in front of them for the majority of the game.

The tactics worked until a sweeping Dutch move in which Shanice van de Sanden’s inch-perfect cross found Arsenal forward Miedema, who powered home a thumping header in the 41st minute.

Cameroon responded almost immediately as winger Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene timed her run perfectly to latch on to a long ball before beating goalkeeper Sari van Veenendaal for an easy finish.
Netherlands, who beat New Zealand in their opening match, were back on the front foot in the second half after a cleverly worked free kick allowed centre back Dominique Bloodworth to score her first international goal from close range.
Cameroon substitute Henriette Akaba came close to an equaliser in the closing stages before Miedema scored her second goal to put the result beyond doubt.
It was Miedema’s 60th goal for the Netherlands as she overtook former striker Manon Melis to become their all-time top scorer.

On a continent where “imitation” Galacticos are a dime a dozen, Japan’s Takefusa Kubo could just be the real deal.
Snapped up by Real Madrid on Friday from under the noses of some of the world’s other top clubs, the teenage sensation is about to demonstrate why he is known as the “Japanese Messi” at the tender age of 18.
The youngster, described by Real as one of the most promising players in world football, is set to create a buzz at this month’s Copa America in Brazil after earning his first senior call-up for the Blue Samurai.

Rarely an Asian football tournament goes by without a “Thai Zico,” an “Iraqi Cristiano Ronaldo” or even a “North Korean Wayne Rooney” among the team rosters.

But it was Kubo who was invited to Barcelona’s youth academy as a scrawny nine-year-old where he earned his nickname for his mazy dribbling skills.

Though the Catalan giants were keen to retain him, Real Madrid took the plunge, heading off interest from Manchester City, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.

The midfielder signed from FC Tokyo could come face-to-face with Argentina wizard Messi at the Copa America depending on results in the group stage.

Kubo is one of 17 uncapped players in coach Hajime Moriyasu’s new-look Japan squad as the tournament guests look to build for next year’s Tokyo Olympics but is destined to attract by far the most interest.

The world’s biggest clubs have been tracking his progress since he appeared in the 2017 Under-20 World Cup — at just 15.
Earlier the same year he became the J-League’s youngest goalscorer, triggering the sort of hype once reserved for the likes of Japan greats Hidetoshi Nakata and Keisuke Honda.

Maurizio Sarri is leaving Chelsea Football Club to return to Italy and become manager of Juventus.
The club made the announcement in a statement on Sunday.

It said Chelsea and Juventus have reached an agreement for the early termination of Sarri’s contract with the club, which had two years left to run and is ending at his request.
Chelsea Director, Marina Granovskaia said: “In talks we had following the Europa League final, Maurizio made it clear how strongly he desired to return to his native country, explaining that his reasons for wanting to return to work in Italy were significant.
“He also believed it important to be nearer his family, and for the well-being of his elderly parents he felt he needed to live closer to them at this point.

“Maurizio leaves Chelsea with thanks from us all for the work he and his assistants did during the season he spent as our head coach, and for winning the Europa League, guiding us to another cup final and a third-place finish in the Premier League.
“We would also like to congratulate him on securing the role as big as any in Serie A and to wish him the best of luck for the future.”
The club statement added: “Sarri moved to London last summer, joining us from Napoli, and his Chelsea side made a strong start to the Premier League campaign. We won our first five games and went unbeaten in all competitions from the start of the league season until late November when we suffered a reverse against Tottenham at Wembley.

“Progression from the group stage of the Europa League was comfortable and a home Premier League win against eventual champions Manchester City a highlight in December.
“However, our away form dipped in the New Year and we suffered heavy defeats at Bournemouth and Manchester City. Our league season by then was focused on achieving a top-four finish and entry back into the Champions League, a target that was reached with one game left to play.
“Sarri achieved this while implementing a new style of play and a change in formation which was spoken of favourably by members of the squad. Young Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek won increasingly frequent starts in the second half of the season until injury struck them both.

“In the Carabao Cup we made it all the way through to the final and as Sarri pointed out, we had to beat the two finalists in the Champions League, Liverpool and Tottenham, along the way. At Wembley we bounced back from our heavy league defeat at Man City by performing well in a tight contest which was only decided in the domestic treble winners’ favour by a penalty shoot-out.
“Our FA Cup campaign under Sarri ended at the fifth-round stage at home to Man United but in the Europa League, he was not to be denied the first major trophy of his managerial career. Premier League opposition were overcome when Arsenal were swept aside in Baku to ensure that our return to the Champions League next season will be as one of the top-seeded sides.
“It also confirmed Sarri as just the fifth man to coach Chelsea to a European trophy. We wish him well for his time back in Italy.”

Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester City has revealed Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel was his childhood role model.
Ndidi said that the influence of the 32-year-old Mikel in the Super Eagles midfield could have a huge bearing on team’s fate.

He also named Senegal and Egypt as the favourites to clinch this year’s African Cup of Nations trophy.
“It is great to play with him,” Ndidi told Goal.

“I grew up watching Mikel. He is my role model and playing alongside him is a great thing

“He is very calm, a good captain, and he gives advice to everyone and speaks with everyone. When you talk to him, he is very humble.

“It is a plus to the team having such a player. We grew up watching him, and now we’re playing with him he gives us more confidence

“With our current players, coach and staff, I think we can do something great. The important thing is to try to win games as much as we can.

“We cannot talk about winning the cup now – we will deal with it game by game and see what will happen. There are many good teams here.

“For me, Senegal and Egypt are the favourites. Senegal is a very good, tough team and they have great players, while Egypt are at home.”
