EPL: Pep Guardiola becomes first Premier League manager to be issued yellow card

Manchester City manager, Guardiola has become the first Premier League manager to be shown a yellow card.
Guardiola was booked by Referee Martin Atkinson in the 41st minute of the Community Shield against Liverpool at Wembley on Sunday.

He was left furious after a high challenge from Joe Gomez left City skipper, David Silva, in a crumpled heap.
The Liverpool defender won a bouncing ball ahead of Silva but Guardiola was unhappy with the manner of the challenge and vented at fourth official, Stuart Atwell.
Referee Atkinson approached the technical area and proceeded to show the yellow card to Guardiola, making him the first manager ever to be shown a yellow in the EPL.

Rules to show managers yellow cards were brought in by the FA in 2018 to clean up touchline behaviour.
But the rules only applied in the Football League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, EFL Trophy and National League while Premier League managers continued to receive verbal cautions for “irresponsible behaviour” from referees.
However, following the updating of the Laws of the Game last month by the International Football Association Board (IFAB), the situation has now changed for the Premier League. Starting from 2019/20 season, managers will now be issued yellow cards.

Everton confirm signing of 19-year-old striker Moise Kean from Juventus for initial £29m (Photos)







Premier League club, Everton has completed the signing of Moise Kean from Juventus for an initial €32m (£29m) on a five-year deal.
 

The 19-year-old Italy international forward who becomes Everton's fifth summer signing could end up costing €40m (£37m) with add-ons, which will be paid over a three-year basis.
 
"I am very proud and honoured to wear the Everton shirt. I will give my best to this team," said Kean.
"I was convinced to sign because Everton is a club looking to the future and so am I. I know about the size of the club. It has big ambition and I will work very hard to help us fulfil what we want to achieve.

"I am used to winning and I want to bring this winning attitude to the team."
 
On signing Kean, Everton manager Marco Silva said: "A striker was one of our priority signings this summer.

"Moise is strong, fast, with many good qualities as a striker and he is just 19 years old. He has talent and he is ready to work, ready to improve our squad and gives us different solutions."
Last season, Moise Kean scored six Serie A goals in 13 appearances for Juventus.

Former Chelsea captain, Gary Cahill joins Crystal Palace as he pens '£75,000-a-week deal' (Photos)






Premier League club, Crystal Palace has completed the signing of former Chelsea captain Gary Cahill.
 
The 33-year-old defender who was released by Chelsea at the end of last season after spending seven years at the club, joins the Eagles on a free transfer.

According to the transfer deal, Cahill penned a two-year deal worth £75,000 a week with the club.
"I'm looking forward to the challenge," said Cahill.
 
"I'm hungry to prolong my career as long as I possibly can - I feel like I'm in great shape whoever I play for.

 
"I'd like to think that I give it 110% and leave everything out there - so hopefully that will be good enough for the manager, my team-mates and also the fans."
 
Palace boss Roy Hodgson said: "Having worked alongside Gary during my time as England manager, I know that he is going to be a valuable asset and I'm so happy to be working with him again."
 
The former Bolton and Aston Villa defender won eight major honours with Chelsea.

Former England and Man.U legend Wayne Rooney signs 18-month contract to become player-coach at Derby County






Wayne Rooney has signed 18-month contract to become player-coach at Derby County from DC United.
 
The former England and Manchester United captain will officially arrive as a player-coach in January 2020 when his time in Major League Soccer comes to an end.
 
Rooney who is expected to earn £100,000-a-week will wear the No 32 shirt for the Championship side.
Rooney said: 'I am very excited about the opportunity that Derby County have provided me with. 
'I am looking forward to joining Phillip Cocu, his coaching staff and the first-team squad from the start of January. I am sure I can make a big contribution and can't wait to meet everyone, especially the supporters.
'I am equally excited to begin my coaching career at Derby County working with both the first team and academy.'
'The commercial opportunities this creates are widespread and significant,' Derby chairman Mel Morris said.

Arsenal Signs Coutinho From Barcelona

Arsenal have completed the signing of attacking midfielder, Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona.


According to L'Equipe, Coutinho joined the Premier League giants on a season-long loan.


Speaking on Coutinho recently, Arsenal manager, Unai Emery told SER: "We've never talked about Coutinho.


"He's a splendid player, but we haven't talked about Coutinho at any time."


Coutinho joined Barcelona from Liverpool in a £142million deal in January 2018.


He has failed to impress since arriving from the UEFA Champions League winners despite playing his part in two La Liga title wins.


The 27-year-old was expected to replace Barcelona legend, Andres Iniesta, but hasn't made the desired impact.

Serena Williams tops Forbes' list of highest-paid female athletes for fourth consecutive year.






Serena Williams is Forbes' highest-paid female athlete for the fourth year in a row after she earned $29.2million in just 12 months.
 
The 23-time grand slam singles champion made 29.2 million US dollars for the 12 months to June 1, only £3.4m dollars of which was in prize money.
Young Japanese tennis star, Naomi Osaka, 21, who benefited from lucrative endorsements as well as prize-winning pots this year made $24.3 million.
Next on the list is Germany's Angelique Kerber who made £9.7m ($11.8m) this year. 
The highest-placed athlete from anothqer sport was United States footballer Alex Morgan in 12th. She earned £4.75m ($5.8m) US dollars and all of the money was made through endorsements.

Transfer: Real Madrid to seal Pogba move after Man Utd land Eriksen
 


Real Madrid believe Manchester United will allow Paul Pogba to leave, if they sign Christian Eriksen from Tottenham, according to Marca.
United are attempting to secure the signing of Eriksen before England’s transfer deadline on Thursday evening.

If that deal goes through, then United may be more open to selling Pogba, who has been heavily linked with a departure from Old Trafford.
The Spanish transfer window doesn’t close until September 2, meaning Real still have plenty of time to pursue a move for Pogba.
Real have been heavily active in the transfer market this summer, securing deals for Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Ferland Mendy, among others.

But Zinedine Zidane is eager to add another player to his squad, with Pogba one of his key targets.

Ian Wright slams Koscielny over Bordeaux transfer reveal
 


Former Arsenal striker, Ian Wright, has lashed out at Laurent Koscielny over the ‘disrespect’ he has shown the club, following his move to Bordeaux.
Koscielny completed his £4.6m move to Bordeaux on Tuesday and his new club unveiled their signing with a short promotional video.

However, it has not gone down well with Arsenal fans, as it shows Koscielny wearing a Gunners shirt, before taking it off to reveal his new Bordeaux kit underneath.
Wright, in reaction to the video, tweeted: “This hurts. The level of disrespect.
“You should be ashamed for the way you’ve left the club after 9 years!

“Got what you wanted and still trying to have a dig. Hope it’s worth it in the long run.”
He added in another tweet: “So unnecessary. 9 years and you do this…makes no sense.”
Relations between Koscielny and Arsenal quickly soured, after he refused to go on the pre-season tour of America, in a bid to force a move away from north London.

Transfer: Pique advises Neymar on how to force Barcelona move
 


Barcelona defender, Gerard Pique, has said any news on Neymar’s intention to return to the Camp Nou, will have to come from the Paris Saint-Germain star himself, rather than his former team-mates.
Neymar has been consistently linked with a move back to the Spanish giants this summer.

The Brazilian is keen to leave the Ligue 1 champions, just two years after his world-record €222million move from Barca.
And while Barcelona have made it clear that they believe Neymar is unhappy with PSG, Pique says his friends on the Spanish side will not be offering any private information, about his intentions of making another move.
“Of course I talk to him, but he has to be the one to speak out.

“We have private conversations and I don’t think it’s correct to talk about them here.
“He’s a star on and off the pitch. We hope something will happen.
“He is a great player, who knows the dressing room, the city and the club.

Transfer: Kelechi set to link up with Hazard





Nigeria U23 international, John Kelechi is set to join former Chelsea midfielder, Kylian Hazard at Belgian top side, Cercle Brugge before the close of the summer transfer window, according to Allnigeriasoccer.
The Sports site reports that Cercle Brugge are in advanced negotiations to sign Kelechi from Portuguse side Rio Ave on a season-long loan.

The 20-year-old has had interest from a club in Turkey but chose to join Cercle Brugge where his development will be faster.
The leadership of Rio Ave recently held talks with the Dream Team VII star and informed him that he has outgrown their U23 team.
Kelechi was instrumental for Rio Ave U23s in the Liga Revelacao last season and was recognized for his outstanding performance.

He was thereafter nominated for the Best Player Award in the regular season by the Professional Football Players’ Union (SJPF).
The young star played his first game for Nigeria in the Olympic team in an U23 AFCON qualifier against Libya back in March.

David Luiz Skips Chelsea Training To 'force' Shock Move To Arsenal


A shock report from France claims that Chelsea defender David Luiz is attempting to force a move to Premier League rivals Arsenal, who are 'keen' on the centre back, ahead of the 5pm deadline on Thursday evening.

Luiz is currently in his second spell with the Blues, having initially joined from Benfica in 2011 before moving to France with Paris Saint-Germain, and eventually returning to west London ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.

Manchester United have fined Romelu Lukaku £400,000 for failing to turn up to training.


The 26-year-old Belgian striker who has been trying to push for a move to Inter Milan shunned his club's training for his old club Anderlecht. He has been training with the club's Under-18 squad for the past two days



For not asking for United's permission before training with the Belgian club, Lukaku will be fined the maximum two weeks' wages, according to Mail Online.



He is expected to fly to London to meet his agent Federico Pastorello as talks continue over a move to Inter Milan. United initially rejected a £54million bid from the Italian club, but Inter are set to return with an improved offer.



Both Manchester United and Inter Milan have until September 2 to strike a deal before the Italian transfer window closes.

Watford are in talks to sign former Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck on a free transfer, according to reports.

The England international is currently without a club after leaving Arsenal at the start of the summer.

The 28-year-old scored 32 goals in 126 games for the Gunners following a £16million move from Premier League rivals Manchester United in 2014.

However, his time at the Emirates was blighted by injuries and he managed just 14 appearances for Unai Emery's side in all competitions last season.

He has not played since sustaining a serious ankle problem in a Europa League match against Sporting Lisbon in November and ended his five-year stay with the club earlier this summer.

Romelu Lukaku Arrives Italy To Seal £72m Inter Milan Transfer (Photos)



Manchester United Striker Romelu Lukaku received a rapturous welcome from his new Inter supporters this morning as the striker landed at Malpensa Airport, MySportDab reports.

Hours before, The Belgian forward’s agent, Federico Pastorello, posted an image of himself with Lukaku on a private jet on their wayto Italy.

Inter agreed a €78 million deal with Manchester United on Wednesday and will soon announce the Belgian as their fifth first-team signing of the summer.

Lukaku will undergo a medical today before joining up with Antonio Conte for pre-season training.

The former Manchester United and Everton striker waved to fans before returning inside to collect his belongings.

Alex Iwobi Joins Everton, Undergoing Medical In London

Everton have agreed a deal to sign Arsenal and Nigeria winger Alex Iwobi for a fee in the region of £35-40m according to BBC Reporter David Ornstein.

He also revealed that Alex Iwobi is undergoing a medical in London and will sign a five-year contract to join Everton from Arsenal. All should be completed without a problem by 7pm deadline #EFC #AFC

Scottish international Kieran Tierney has joined Arsenal from Celtic on a long-term deal.

and had been with his boyhood club since the age of seven. He made 170 appearances for Celtic and has played 12 times for Scotland.

The defender completed a medical at London Colney on Thursday and will immediately join-up with his new team mates. He will wear the No 3 shirt.

Chelsea star, Trevoh Chalobah has left the club on a season long loan to Huddersfield Town.
The defender experienced his first taste of senior football last season with Ipswich Town in the Championship.
He made 44 appearances at Portman Road last season and scored twice.

Chalobah joined Chelsea as an Under-9, following in the footsteps of his older brother, Nathaniel.
He won the UEFA Youth League in 2016, as well as back-to-back FA Youth Cups.
He also lifted the European Championship trophy with England Under-19s in 2017.

He had been named on Chelsea’s senior team bench on several occasions, including for the FA Cup final against Manchester United.

Transfer: Zaha set for Chelsea move

Chelsea will launch an £80million bid for Crystal Palace winger, Wilfried Zaha, in January, the UK Sun reports.
The Blues were unable to add new players this summer, following a two-window transfer ban imposed by FIFA.

However, the Stamford Bridge club is confident, they can overturn the punishment they received from FIFA.
Then, they will try to take Zaha from Selhurst Park, in the winter window.
The 26-year-old was chased by Arsenal earlier this summer, but the Gunners failed to tempt Palace with a £40m bid and went to to sign Nicolas Pepe.

Everton were also unable to tempt the Eagles into selling their prize asset, who handed in a transfer request on Wednesday and did not train on Thursday ahead of Saturday’s first game of the season.
The Toffees have now signed Alex Iwobi from Arsenal.

Transfer deadline: Chelsea confirm David Luiz is now Arsenal player

Chelsea have officially announced depature of Brazilian defender, David Luiz from the club to Arsenal.
The Brazilian’s switch across London brings to an end a Chelsea career spanning seven seasons across two separate spells, a period in which he won six major honours.

Luiz first became a Chelsea player in January 2011, joining from Benfica on transfer deadline day.
His Blues debut came as a late substitute at home to Liverpool, before his first start eight days later in a goalless draw at Fulham.
A statement on the club’s official website reads, “David Luiz has today completed a permanent transfer to Arsenal.
“His first full campaign, the 2011/12 season, is one that will live long in the memory of all Chelsea supporters, and David Luiz more than played his part. Roberto Di Matteo was now at the helm and, in one of the Italian’s first matches in charge, David Luiz was outstanding alongside John Terry as we overturned a 3-1 first-leg deficit against Napoli to progress to the Champions League quarter-finals.

“Unfortunately, he picked up an injury in our 5-1 FA Cup semi-final win against Tottenham Hotspur which ruled him out of the domestic final against Liverpool, as well as both legs of our Champions League semi-final against Barcelona.
“However, following an intense rehabilitation programme he was passed fit to play in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich and came through the entire 120 minutes, with the Blues under pressure for long spells. He went on to score in the penalty shoot-out as we lifted the trophy for the first time in our history.
“David Luiz remained a regular in the side for 2012/13, scoring crucial goals in Europe to help us to the Europa League final and the Brazilian started in Amsterdam against Benfica as we tasted success on the European stage for the second consecutive season.

English Premier League clubs have smashed the summer transfer spending record with almost £1.44billion (N634billion) in deals.

Transfer deadline days have invariably been the dampest of squibs in recent years but it this turned out to be a zinger.

Following the transfer deadline on Thursday evening, the 20 English Premier League clubs had spent £1.438bn (N633bn)gross on new players this summer.

Arsenal led the way (£150m/N66bn gross) with Chelsea the biggest net gainers so far (£80.6m/N35.6bn) following David Luiz's switch across London to the Gunners.

The previous record spend by the English top-flight clubs combined in one window was the £1.425bn (N627.6bn) of summer 2017.

If you think this is all exciting, a word of caution. The Premier League is the only major league in Europe where the value of domestic TV rights has gone DOWN this season, so quite a few PL clubs will be seeing flat or even reduced income in 2019-20.

And yes, the overall TV income haul will be up because foreign rights have grown.

But that will principally benefit the biggest clubs under the new and increasingly iniquitous way the foreign TV revenue will be shared.
