Pogba would improve Real Madrid, says brother

Paul Pogba would strengthen Real Madrid if he makes the move from Manchester United, according to the midfielder’s brother.
Zinedine Zidane wants to sign France star Pogba and with Gareth Bale reportedly set to complete a move to Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning, it is claimed a bid for Pogba is imminent.

The rumours come in the wake of Madrid’s humiliating 7-3 loss to city rivals Atletico Madrid in the International Champions Cup.

Pogba’s future at Old Trafford has been in doubt since his agent, Mino Raiola, confirmed the 26-year-old’s “willingness” to negotiate a transfer.

And his brother Mathias, a professional footballer formerly of Partick Thistle in Scotland, thinks a move to the La Liga giants could make sense for both parties.

“I feel my brother could help any team,” Mathias told AS.

“If he plays for Madrid, he will help Madrid.

“I always want what’s the best for my brother. If he feels Real Madrid is the best club for him, he will come.”

Guinea international Mathias, 28, completed his own move to Spain over the weekend, signing for fourth-tier Manchego Ciudad Real after a spell at Tours in France.

However, the elder Pogba said: “I’m in Spain because I want to be and it has nothing to do with the possibility of my younger brother securing a move.

“We can’t do anything about the rumours.”

Fresh reports in the English media this weekend suggest Los Blancos could be about to bid £150m (€166m/$185m) for the 2018 World Cup winner, once Bale’s move away from the Spanish capital has been confirmed.

Bale’s protracted exit from the Bernabeu would free up his wage bill, allowing Real officials to make their move for Pogba for what would be a Premier League record fee.

The reported amount would eclipse the £145m (€161m/$179m) Barcelona paid Liverpool for Philippe Coutinho in January 2018, while landing United a healthy profit on the £89m (€99m/$110m) they paid Juventus for Pogba’s services three years ago.

Were Pogba to arrive in Madrid, he would become the club’s sixth big name signing this summer alongside Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Rodrygo, Ferland Mendy and Eder Militao

Dead body found in Arsenal star Mohamed Elneny's home in Egypt



 



A dead body was reportedly found in Arsenal star Mohamed Elneny's home in Egypt.
 
According to Gazetta, the midfielder's father found the corpse at the house in the city of Mahalla Al-Kubra.
The shocking discovery was made on Friday, July 26, 2019, before police were alerted. The home where the body was found is currently under construction.
The website 24.ae claim the body was found ‘in the patio’ at the home.
Police are yet to formally identify the deceased and it is not known whether it was a criminal act or an accident but an investigation has been launched.

Gernot Rohr speaks about being 'snubbed' by Amaju Pinnick during medal presentation at AFCON






Gernot Rohr finally reacted to being snubbed by Amaju Pinnick during the bronze medal presentation at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, and according to him it is nothing serious. 
 
The Super Eagles coach debunked claims of a possible rift between him and the NFF President following the video which went viral after the medal presentation.
 

“Yes, I saw it (video), somebody sent it immediately to me, the people did not understand (what happened),” Rohr told Sports Extra.
“Ask the president (Pinnick) why he did it, I didn’t do anything, I wanted to shake him. So you must ask him why he did it. I watched the video again when Victor Ikpeba was here (his hotel), we were laughing about it.
“The president did not explain to me but I know exactly what happened, because I was the last one on the stage. Before me was Tunde, my assistant, who wanted to receive the medal from Pinnick and Pinnick said, ‘No, no, I will start from you (Rohr).’
“There was Constant (Omari), CAF vice president, and he was happy to see me and took me in his arms and gave me the medal, I could not say no. I didn’t even know that Pinnick wanted to give me the medal with him, nobody told me.
“But I heard it after because Pinninck told Tunde that he wanted to present the medal to me, so he was a little bit worried about this situation.
“But I only understood it after. He (Pinnick) went to Constant and asked why he gave me the medal because he wanted to give it to me. But I understand that it was joy for him to give me the medal because we had face-to-face conversation in Cairo, where we could speak about all these problems.
“So, there was no problem between us at that moment, the misunderstanding was unfortunate," he added. 

 
Gernot Rohr also disclosed that he took a photo standing next to Pinnick after the incidence, but wondered why it never went viral like the video. 
 

“I joined the players for the photo (session), I stayed on the stage and said, “President, come (and join us).’ The photographers could see us (Rohr and Pinnick) behind the players but I didn’t see all these photos, they only shot this video, so many bloggers here in Nigeria.”

Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard has said that he wants forwards, Willian and Callum Hudson-Odoi, in his squad ahead of next season.
Lampard explained that both Willian and Hudson-Odoi are key players in his squad, adding that he wants the duo to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Willian has been strongly linked with a move to Barcelona, while Hudson-Odoi has drawn interest from Bayern Munich in recent weeks.
Speaking after Chelsea’s pre-season friendly 4-3 win over Reading on Sunday, Lampard was quoted by Metro UK as saying: “I know the club are talking to him [Willian]. Willian and Callum are both players I want in my squad.”
He added: “We’ve made some good moves this pre-season with Mason Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek signing new contracts, two young players nailed down and the club are always trying to do that.

“From a football sense, I’ve made my ideas very clear. I’m working very closely with Marina [Granovskaia] and the board because these are two players that we want to stay for sure.”

Former Arsenal midfielder, Ray Parlour has urged the club to sign Celtic defender, Kieran Tierney, and Lille winger, Nicolas Pepe, ahead of the August transfer deadline.
DAILY POST had reported that Arsenal have been linked with a move for Tierney and Pepe in this summer’s transfer window.

The Gunners have so far made three new signings: Gabriel Martinelli, Dani Ceballos and William Saliba this summer.
“The worry for me has always been the defence,” Parlour said on talkSPORT.
“We’re talking about [signing] good players but we aren’t talking about no defenders at the moment.

“Defenders is probably the key area where we are missing at the moment.
“We know about Koscielny’s situation that has not been great for the club, him not going on tour.
“That is the area for me where they’ve got to address big time if they’re going to have any chance to get in that top four again.

“I really hope they get Tierney because I think he’s a real quality player.
“[Hector] Bellerin is back on the training field now and he’s kicking balls, which is great, he’s really progressing well.
“[Rob] Holding is training so he can’t be too far away but he’ll need six or seven games to get back into full speed.

“It’s an area where you’re losing Koscielny. If you do lose Koscielny, he’s your captain last season, a real experienced player at the back, so they need to replace him. Especially with some of the defensive performances last year, which weren’t good enough.
“That’s what let them down in the end because the goalscoring at the other end was no problem with [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang, [Alexandre] Lacazette, them sort of guys.
“It’s one of those situations where you’ve just got to wait and see what happens with the transfer window.

“A lot of frustrated fans because they looked at the transfer budget and it was only £40m-50m, they thought, bit suddenly they’re trying to bring in new players.
“Hopefully they can bring in Pepe that would be a big, big boost for every fan that’s going to be following Arsenal next season.”

Transfer: Unai Emery speaks on Khedira leaving Juventus for Arsenal

Arsenal manager, Unai Emery has dismissed reports suggesting that Midfielder Sami Khedira will leave Juventus to join the Gunners in this summer’s transfer window.
DAILY POST had reported that Khedira is set to join Arsenal from Juventus.

Emery has now said that the North London club are not interested in signing Khedira from the Serie A champions this summer.
He also said that Arsenal are only interested in signing players like Lille winger, Nicolas Pepe, who will improve his side’s squad ahead of next season.
The 32-year-old made just 10 Serie A appearances last season due to a series of injuries which kept him out for the majority of the campaign while his future in Turin looks uncertain.

“Khedira is a very good player but this is the first time I have heard his name mentioned,” Emery was quoted by The Express UK as saying.
Emery added: “Nicolas Pepe is a very good player and we are thinking only about signing players who will really, really improve this squad and also give us different conditions.
“There are different players on the table with the possibility we can achieve their signature.

“At the beginning of the market, we were thinking to do one centre-back, one full-back and one winger. We are still thinking the same way.
“Really I want a better team than last season with only new players who can improve the squad and help us to achieve our ambitions.”

Real Madrid are ready to pay Manchester United €166million for their top midfielder, Paul Pogba, according to The Sun.
The Spanish La Liga giants are willing to pay Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side the huge amount in order to land the 26-year-old former Juventus star to Santiago Bernabeu before the transfer window closes next month.

Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane, is eager to sign the 2018 France World Cup winner from Man United this summer in a bid to bolster his squad ahead of next season.
DAILY POST had reported that Pogba is set to leave Man United in this summer’s transfer window after he told reporters in Tokyo, Japan, last month that he wants “a new challenge”.
“I think for me it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else,” Pogba said.

“For me, I have been for three years in Manchester and have been doing great; some good moments and some bad moments, like everybody, like everywhere else.
“After this season and everything that happened this season, with my season being my best season as well.”

Champions League final defeat worst moment of my career – Pochettino

Tottenham Hotspur manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has claimed that their Champions League defeat to Liverpool this year, was one of the worst moments of his career, Goal reports.
Pochettino admitted he couldn’t leave his house for 10 days after the game.

Spurs fell 2-0 to Liverpool in last month’s showpiece in Madrid.
Mohamed Salah scored from the penalty spot early and Divock Origi put the game away late in the match.
“Yes, it was difficult. We had the most unbelievable three weeks to prepare before the final. [We were] massively disappointed in the way we lost.

“It was very bad. I compare with summer 2002, when we drew with Sweden and were beaten by England in the group stage at [the] World Cup, within one week. As a player and as a manager both are the worst moments in my career.
“I took a train from Madrid to Barcelona the day after. I spent 10 days in my home and didn’t want to go out. Yes, it was tough because you nearly touched the glory,” Pochettino said.

Transfer: Verratti tells PSG what to do Neymar

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, Marco Verratti has urged the club not to stop fellow teammate, Neymar, from leaving Thomas Tuchel’s side this summer.
DAILY POST had reported that Neymar has been consistently linked with a return to Barcelona since joining PSG in 2017 for a world-record deal of £222 million.

The 27-year-old had already revealed his intention to leave PSG for Barcelona in this summer’s transfer window.
Verratti has now advised PSG not to keep Neymar who wants to leave, adding that a player should be able to leave if he so desires.
The Italy international, however, wants the Brazilian to remain at Parc des Princes this summer.

Speaking on Neymar, Verratti told RMC Sport: “When a player really wants to leave, the club must let him go, according to the conditions set by the club, of course.
“But you must not keep a player who wants to leave. Of course, I would be disappointed to see him go.
“I never heard him say that he wanted to leave after I don’t know what he told the club. But personally, of course, I prefer to see him stay.

Real Madrid have called off Gareth Bale’s proposed move to China, the UK Telegraph reports.
The Welsh winger was set to leave Spain for Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning in a £1m-a-week deal.

But the deal is now off and Bale is set to stay with the LaLiga giants, who pulled the plug on the switch.
Real president, Florentino Perez, is believed to be blocking the move, because he feels Bale is too valuable to be let go on the cheap.
Manager Zinedine Zidane had urged Bale to look for a new club this summer, after the pair had a bust-up during the Frenchman’s first spell in charge.

'I hope to return to Real Madrid soon' - Cristiano Ronaldo





 
Portuguese superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted that he misses his former club, Real Madrid and "hopes to return to Madrid soon" as he received the Marca Leyenda award.  
 
The Portuguese superstar spent a decade at Real Madrid, where he won four of his five Ballons d’Or and four Champions Leagues, as well as two La Liga crowns and two Copa del Rey titles, scoring a whopping 450 goals in just 438 games for the club.  
 
He moved to Italy to join Juventus last summer in search of a new challenge, but he admits that he misses the Spanish capital and felt sad to leave Los Blancos as he received the prestigious Marca Leyenda award in Madrid.
 
Speaking at the awards ceremony, Ronaldo said;

"I felt sorry when I left Real Madrid. I miss both [Manchester and Madrid] but because of life's circumstances I have lived more years in Madrid, my children and my girl were born here, so I miss Madrid more.
"This trophy will be in a very nice place in my museum. Madrid is special, I travel a lot but there are few cities like Madrid. Much of this award is derived from what I did in Madrid. It is a Spanish trophy and leaves me very honoured. Thanks to all those who have helped me to achieve it. It is a pride for me. And I hope to return to Madrid soon”.

Ronaldo also opened up on his ambitions as a child, the title that he treasures most, and his Champions League hopes for the coming season.

"I never thought about [reaching this level]. My dream was always [just] to be a professional player.
"All titles are important but possibly [the 2016 European Championship] because it is special. It is not the same, when you win something for your country and you know that it is more difficult, it is the most important thing in my career. I don't know [if I will win the Champions League this year with Juventus]. We will try, as always. Hopefully Juventus wins."

Juventus superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo has backed Forward Neymar to stay at Paris Saint-Germain.
He also said that he wants Neymar to take care of himself and avoid injuries because the Brazilian international has had a lot of wounds in the past.

Transfer: Manchester United finally receive £142m from Real Madrid for Pogba
 


Manchester United have received a £142 million (€160m) offer from Real Madrid for their French midfielder, Paul Pogba, according to Sport.
Pogba has already made his intention to leave Old Trafford this summer known.

The newspaper reports that a huge offer has been sent from Los Blancos, with Zinedine Zidane eager to sign the midfielder.
Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s side has already made moves to replace Pogba, agreeing terms with Sergel Milinkovic Savic.
Savic has already struck a deal over a €6m (£5.4m) salary, while Lazio are waiting for a €90m (£81.6m) offer, according to reports in Italy.

United have already submitted €75m (£68mm) plus €15m (£13.6m), the report adds, but the Italians want the full fee guaranteed.

Transfer: Real Madrid president, Perez ‘loses confidence’ in Hazard


Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, has lost confidence in Eden Hazard, Sport reports.
Hazard is said to have arrived at the club’ pre-season tour in Montreal 7kg overweight.

It has caused friction at the club and Perez has distanced himself from playing a part in his acquisition.
Instead, it is reported, sources have said Perez now has no confidence in Hazard and signed him only at the request of Zidane.
Hazard, who smashed the club’s transfer record after sealing a £150million move earlier this summer, will have to bear much of the brunt of the attacking burden at the Bernabeu this season.

Fenerbahce coach, Ersun Yanal has urged former Nigeria international, Victor Moses, to be more productive in the new coming season.
Moses, who joined Fenerbahce on loan from Chelsea in January, ended the 2018-2019 campaign with his highest league goal tally in seven years, netting 4 goals in 14 games.

EPL: De Bruyne reveals what Man City need to win title in 2019/2020 season
 


Manchester City midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne, has said they may only need 85 points to win the Premier League this season, despite requiring 98 to see off Liverpool in 2018/2019.
Pep Guardiola’s side pipped the Reds to become champions with just one point, in one of the greatest title race ever.

City’s haul came off the back of them romping to the 2017/18 title with 100 points, but De Bruyne says that may not be the case in the new campaign.
“We don’t need to beat the last two seasons. Maybe we can win this season with 85 points.
“It is not about improving, it is about staying consistent, trying to be there every game, trying to win every game.

“It is not always about doing better, because how can you do better sometimes?
“To win every year what we won the last two years is going to be pretty difficult but it is good to be there,” De Bruyne told Sky Sports.

French giants, Paris Saint-Germain unveil Idrissa Gueye as he completes £30m move from Everton 






French giants, Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed the signing of Idrissa Gueye from Everton on a four-year deal.
 
The Senegalese midfielder, 29,  was unveiled on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, after he completed his medical and settled personal terms in the French capital on Monday.
Speaking to his new club after signing the deal, Gueye said: 'I feel tremendous pride in joining Paris Saint-Germain. 
'After remaining focused on the CAN with my selection, I wanted to give a new impetus to my club career by engaging with Paris Saint-Germain, which offers one of the most structured and ambitious sports projects in the world.

UEFA Names Samuel Chukwueze Among 50 Players To Watch



UEFA has named Super Eagles winger, Samuel Chukwueze, among the top 50 young players to keep an eye on in the 2019/2020 season.

As was the case before the start of the 2018/2019 campaign, only one Nigerian youngster has been picked.

Explaining why Chukwueze is being tipped for success in the upcoming season, UEFA wrote on their official website: “Precocious winger with UEFA Europa League experience; the Nigeria Football Federation’s young player of the year for 2017/18.”

The list contains some eye-catching names such as Rhian Brewster (Liverpool), Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich), Carel Eiting (Ajax), Gedson Fernandes (Benfica), Sean Longstaff (Newcastle) and William Saliba (Arsenal).

Chukwueze was one of the key players that helped Villarreal avoid relegation last term, netting five goals in 26 appearances in La Liga.

He was also part of the Nigeria squad that won bronze at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations and opened his senior account in a 2-1 win vs South Africa.
