Morning Devotional For Tuesday 18th September

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

TUESDAY, 18 SEPTEMBER.

WALK IN HIS NAME.

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils… (Mark 16:17-18).

Isn’t it amazing that the very first thing Jesus said we could do in His Name is casting out devils? It goes to show just how much Satan has been defeated; he’s not a factor at all. Someone who only gave his life to Christ moments ago can cast out devils. That’s because the Christian is superior to Satan; the Christian has the life of God and the righteousness of Christ; he’s in God’s class. Hallelujah!

Therefore, keeping Satan in check isn’t a question of how “strong” or “spiritual” you think you are; it’s about Jesus and the authority He’s given you; you walk and live in His Name. Satan has no right to run things in your life, in your home or in the lives of your loved ones; run him out! Exercise your authority in Christ over him. You can cast out demons any day, anytime and anywhere, simply by using the Name of Jesus.

When you address Satan and his cohorts of darkness in the Name of Jesus, they respond as though they were hearing directly from Jesus. So, in dealing with Satan, don’t negotiate with him; cast him out! That’s what Jesus said we should do. Someone asked, “What if the devil doesn’t go when I try to cast him out?” That’s not an option, if you’re walking in His Name.

Walking in His Name is recognising the power and authority of that Name; living with the consciousness of what that Name represents. Philippians 2:9-10 says, “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth.”

You couldn’t know this and be debating whether or not the demons would respond when you want them cast out; they have no choice. The Word settles it: Your role is to cast the devil out, and the devil’s responsibility is to obey and flee!

CONFESSION

How wonderful to be an associate of the God-kind; one with Christ, with His life and nature of righteousness in my spirit! It places me far above all principality, power, and rulers of the darkness of this world. I exercise my authority in Christ to keep them where they perpetually belong—under my feet—in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

18TH SEPTEMBER.

I am an associate of the God-kind; I am free from the corrupting influences, decadence, and destruction in the world. My life is for the glory of God, for in Him I live, move and have my being. I am in Christ, experiencing a day-to-day transformation and renewal by the Holy Spirit. I am stirred and positioned for greatness and excellence, even as I walk in the victory of Christ.

My confidence is in the Word of God and my heart is established upon the truth of who I am in Christ. I am seated together with Christ in the Heavenly, far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion! Satan and his cohorts of darkness are under my feet, and I reign victoriously in life over all circumstances. The life of God is at work in me; therefore, I am alive unto God. I live the victorious life of glory and success which the Father has given me. I lack nothing! The favour of God overshadows me, and His protection mantles my heart against the wiles and darts of the devil.

Love, joy, health, peace, progress, and prosperity are my present hour possessions in Christ Jesus. I excel and prosper in all things today. I am fashioned for excellence, and the glory of God is manifested through me to my world. My faith is active and I function from a position of victory and rest. Blessed be God.

THEME: CUSTODIANS OF THE MASTER KEY

Memorise :
And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open and none shall shut: and he shall shut, and none shall open. Isaiah 22:22

Bible Reading: Matthew 16:13-19
13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Message:
Today’s memory verse is a prophetic message from God the Father to God the Son, speaking of how Jesus would possess the key of the house of David so that He would open easily and shut without any resistance. No wonder doors obeyed Him while He was here on earth.

For example, He shut the door of the issue of blood in the life of a woman who had suffered for 12 years Mark 5:25-34. He also opened the door of sight to a blind man at the gate of Jericho Luke 18:35-43.

In today’s Bible reading, after Peter made a profound confession of faith received by revelation from the Father, our Lord Jesus Christ promised to give him the master key of the kingdom. The Lord could make this promise, because He is the possessor of this key Revelation 3:7.

However, this promise is not only to Peter, but also to everyone who believes and confesses that Jesus Christ is Lord, John 17:20, Mark 13:37. It is amazing therefore to see children of God running helter-skelter in search of the master key, whereas they have access to this key already. Speaking about this key, the Lord said in Matthew 16:19

“And I will give unto thee the keys of kingdoms of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

The meaning of this scripture is that God the Father gave Jesus Christ the son the master key to open and shut, and Jesus in turn handed this key over to those who believed in Him. So, we now are the custodians of the master key. How effectively we use this key is another question altogether.

I pray in the mighty Name of Jesus that we will not be wasters of this great grace that can shut doors of calamity and open the gates of blessings, not only for ourselves but also for those who God has put within the sphere of our influence.

Years ago, a Young man came to us for prayers because of premature death that had been ravaging his family over the years. We prayed a simple prayer to the Almighty Father, who through His Son handed the master key over to us. We shut the door against premature death and opened the door of abundant life in Christ to this young man, and this put an end to the calamity of premature death in his family.

In like manner, I shut the door for all forms of calamity against you and I open the door of celebration that had been shut against you from today in Jesus’ Name.

Action Point:
Using the Master key given to you by the Lord, shut the door of sorrow the enemy had opened against you and open the door of safety and celebration that has been shut against you.

*IF YOU HAD ONLY 24 HOURS TO LIVE; WHAT WOULD YOU DO?*

SCRIPTURE: Watch out! Don't let my sudden coming catch you unawares; don't let me find you living in careless ease, carousing and drinking, and occupied with the problems of this life, like all the rest of the world. Keep a constant watch. And pray that if possible you may arrive in my presence without having to experience these horrors. Luke 21:34-36 (NLT).

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Whatever you would do if you had to live, do it now.

Our anchor Scripture makes it clear that one of the signs of the end time is careless living. We live in a generation of ease where people give less priority to the major things of life and give great priority to the minor things. For example, many people prepare massively for a wedding which would last for few hours in church but never care to prepare for a marriage that would last for a lifetime; people usually prepare diligently for academic examinations but never care to prepare for eternity with God. This is inversion of priority.
Now, in order to set our priorities right, I would like to ask you a question: what would you do if you had only twenty four hours to live on earth? It is important to ponder on this question because one day, you will surely be left with only twenty four hours to live on Earth.

Beloved, if you had only twenty four hours to live on Earth, would you go about making the latest hairstyle? Would you go after a man or woman to commit immorality with? Would you embark on the pursuit of money? Would you put on that seductive clothes or seduce other people’s husbands? Would you be embittered against someone; would you go about smoking or drinking alcohol?
I believe that if you had only twenty four hours to live, the consciousness of eternity would dawn on you; you would begin to make amends in your relationship with God in order to make heaven; you would not sleep with unconfessed sins in your heart; you would let go of every form of bitterness and offence; you would not retaliate or reply anyone when you are insulted; you would pray or preach to others and impact their lives positively. You would do everything possible to make it right with God in preparation for eternity in heaven.

Beloved, my counsel is, whatever you would do if you had only twenty four hours to live, do it now.

Remember this: Whatever you would do if you had to live, do it now.

ASSIGNMENTS:
1. Act with a sense of urgency in anything you ought to do.
2. Avoid procrastination in all areas of your life.

PRAYER: O LORD, I ask for the grace to approach life and destiny with a sense of urgency, in Jesus’ Name.
