*TOPIC: CORRECTING WITH WISDOM*
“And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.” Acts 18:26
*MESSAGE*
Our text today speaks of Apollos, a man who had the zeal for the gospel but with limited knowledge. The way his knowledge gap was filled at the time deserves our attention. A disciple couple, Priscilla and Aquila, privately enlightened Apollos based on the grace they had also received. They did not criticize or silence him. They didn't prove to be superior either. They only drew his attention to other things he didn't know, with wisdom and maturity.
Through the wisdom of the couple, Apollos became a more enlightened preacher and helped many new believers. He corrected his former misconception and taught others that Jesus was the Christ. Imagine how profitable he became to the church.
This powerful model is recommended for the present church. Many promising vessels of God have been lost to unhealthy and unnecessary criticism, rivalry and competition. Evangelism, correction and criticism should be with wisdom and caution; not with competition. Christ commanded us to win souls not to compete with fellow soul winners.
*ACTION POINT*
?️ Always keep an open mind and give allowance for the unknown. Correct to encourage!
*SCRIPTURES*
Proverbs 1:5; Acts 8:31; 28:23
*PRAYER POINTS*
1. Father, thank You for the gift of Your wisdom.
2. Lord, reveal the mystery of the gospel and the scriptures to me.
3. Give me the grace to cooperate with and not contest with other soul-winners in Jesus’ name.
*THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR*
