*TOPIC:*FROM THE STRANGER*
*Read: John 10:1-16*
*John 10:1-16* Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber.
But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
To him the gatekeeper opens. The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.
A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.”
This figure of speech Jesus used with them, but they did not understand what he was saying to them.
So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them.
I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
He who is a hired hand and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them.
He flees because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.
I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me,
just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.
And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd.
*MEMORISE: A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.” (John 10:5)*
*EXPOSITION*
Kids are always warned to keep away from strangers. The reason for this is clear: strangers are unknown, unfamiliar, and therefore, their intention are unpredictable.
When a child sees a stranger, is he/she immediately opens to him/her? This is so, because a stranger is a stranger; no more, no less. We have so many examples of bad experience of people who had been into trouble, because of accomdating strangers. Example abound of cities and other communities that have been taken over by strangers they benevolently accommodated in the first place.
The Holy Ghost is ministering through this platform to users to be very wary of Satan, the devil. The devil is very deceptive and Cunny. In fact, he has been a thief and stranger to man from the beginning (Jn. 10:10). Jesus unequivocally says that His sheep would not follow strange person, because the sheep recognise His voice.
No matter how the devil clones his voice (cf. 1 Jn. 4:6) to sound like Jesus Christ's, he is not the Lord (Phil. 2:10-12). Unfortunately, many people cannot differentiate between the stranger and the Lord; they lack the grace of spiritual discernment and sensitivity! This is why many are swindled, spiritually.
The stranger has nothing in stock, expect to blindfold, steal, kill and destroy his victims. So, the stranger (devil and his agents) has got nothing to offer you.
You are enabled by the Holy Spirit never to accommodate this stranger in whatever form he presents himself. If you assist him instead of resisting him, he will gain upper hand, and before you know it, a lot of damages might have been done (Eph. 4:27; Jas. 4:7; 1 Pet. 5:9).
The stranger is not only dangerous but also very deadly, because he never wanted, and still predetermined end (Rev. 20:10): he doesn't want to be there alone. Desist from following the stranger, henceforth. Follow Jesus, alone!
*PRAYER POINTS*
1. O Lord, help me to always avoid the devil and all He represents.
2. O God, give me the grace to always identify every manifestion of the devil, no matter how cunny he hides them.
3. O God, give our leaders the grace to be above the devil always in the discharge if their duties to Your people.
