TOPIC: THE HIDDEN PERSON OF THE HEART
Read 1 Samuel 16:7
7 But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.
MEMORISE: But the Lord said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart" (1 Samuel 16:7)
EXPOSITION
You wouldn't have thought Jesus was the King of kings, if you have seen Him walking on the streets. He looked like an ordinary man when all the while, He was the Saviour of the world. In the same way, David didn't look like a might warrior.
He didn't look like he could slay a giant, let alone defeat a lion and bear. When prophet Samuel came to anoint the next king of Israel, and Jesse brought out his strong sons, Samuel asked, "Are these all of your sons?" Jesse answered, "We have one who keeps the sheep." When David entered the house, God told Samuel, "That's him." David didn't look like a king, but he loved the Lord with all his heart.
You may not look like the kind of person, who would be used mightily by God to impact this world for Jesus, but remember, neither did others, throughout Bible history.
.
The Bible confirms, '...God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty' (1 Cor. 1:27).
While everyone else is focusing on the outward appearance of things, continue to focus on letting God accomplish His work in your heart and mind. Let Him enrich you on a deep soul level, so that you can enrich others and walk in divine influence. Doing this will take you farther in life than you can ever imagine! (1 Pet. 3:3-4).
PRAYER POINTS
1. God, thank You for Your wisdom and grace through which You reveal to us the condition of our hearts.
2. O God, transform me, until I look like Jesus on the inside, and behave like Him on the outside.
3. Help our leaders to possess the mind of Christ while carrying out their leadership responsibilities.
