TOPIC: WHAT DO YOU SEE?
Read Acts 7:55-59
55. But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,
56. And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
57. Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,
58. And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul.
59. And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
MEMORISE: And said, "Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!" (Acts 7:56)
EXPOSITION
Moses couldn't have confronted Pharaoh, if he had not see God. To do great work for God, man must have personal encounter with Him, clearly. We will do great works for God, the moment we see Him and His glory.
David saw what Saul, the first king of Israel, and his warriors couldn't see - the mightiness and awesomeness of God. He knew the divine promise of them putting thousands to fight on the battlefield (cf. Lev. 26:8). Whatever we see in God, man and situations around us inform our perceptions. All the Israelites, except David, saw the giant in Goliath. David who had better eyes (God's sight), saw the bird in Goliath, and attacked it.
In 2 Kings 2, Elisha saw the chariot of fire that took his master, Elijah to heaven. At that point, his life was turned around. What you see in the Lord determines what you become in life. In the same vein, Elisha's servant at Dothan initially saw the troops, horses, and chariots sent by King of Aram, and was sore afraid. But when God opened his inner eye, he realised that those with them were more than those with their enemies. Unless our eyes are opened, we may not see the greatness and goodness of God.
The killers of Stephen saw him dying, but he saw Christ giving him standing ovation on the throne of God, to gloriously welcome him home. The people were amazed at his action; even praying for his killers. Why? He was full of the Holy Spirit, seeing what they couldn't see (Acts 7:56). Dear reader, endeavour to see Christ on His throne.
PRAYER POINTS
1. I receive insight into Your future plans for my life, O Lord, in Jesus' name.
2. Lord, open my eyes to see only what You want me to see, henceforth.
3. Lord, help Your Church to see the urgency of the task ahead, as the Day draws closer than we first believed.
