*TOPIC:**THE HOME OF A HERO (I)*
*Read Luke 1:5-25*
*MEMORISE*
*And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless (Luke 1:6).*
*EXPOSITION*
Zechariah and Elizabeth are one of the heroes we can emulate. A faithful priest, who never relented in his divine assignment. The word of God says that the couple were both righteous before God. With all their faithfulness and integrity, they still had no child and they were both stricken for years.
Then, one day, in the course of his relentless service before God, he had an encounter with an angel of the Lord, and this encounter made him speechless for months. Zechariah was in trouble; he could no longer console his wife with his hopeful words.
His problem was compounded. Elizabeth did not know that she would be barren, having married a man of God who was also a public speaker. Zechariah went out for ministration as an able-bodied person but returned as disabled.
In all of these, Elizabeth neither abandoned nor left him to face the ‘consequence’ of his disbelief alone. Had she done that, she would probably have remained barren all her life. Just imagine the cordiality and unity of purpose that resulted in her getting pregnant. That was her turning point; she carried her baby after nine months and her husband’s tongue was loosened.
Dear reader, learn from this great heroes to become a hero to your children and the generation to come, in the Lord.
*PRAYER POINTS*
1. Lord Jesus, give me the grace to cope with my family challenges.
2. Let us pray for those that are expecting the fruits of the womb regardless of their age that God should visit them with their babies.
3. Pray against every form of barrenness in your family, business, ministry and nation in Jesus’ name.
*EXTRA READING FOR TODAY: Daniel 5:11 – 7:14; Jude 1:9 – 1:25; Revelation 1:1 – 1:4*
