*TOPIC:*
*LET THERE BE LIGHT*
*Read Genesis 1:1-3*
*MEMORISE*
*Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light (Genesis 1:3)*
*EXPOSITION*
In Genesis 1:1-3, the Holy Spirit takes us back in time to the beginning of God’s creation. In this account, we are introduced to the voice of God for the very first time.
The voice of the Lord was neither heard nor recorded before Gen. 1:3. It is important to know that many years had passed between Genesis 1:1 and 2. All He (God) said here was “Let there be light”, and the light immediately appeared. The simple word instantly got rid of darkness. The real change, i.e. from darkness into light, cancelled the so much chaos on earth, thereby giving room for creation. Who would have imagined the beautiful colours of the vegetation, sky, mountain, land and even man, if there had been no light!
The aforementioned light is not the one gotten from the sun, but the one revealed in John 8:12 – Jesus, the Light of the world who must be followed. Therefore, let there be light! If we allow the light in our lives, all the works of the devil will be ruined; we shall enjoy the blessings of life; the joy of the Lord shall fill our hearts; it will be easy for us to obey the Lord and to do His wish continually, there will be no tolerance for covetousness and the like; we shall have power to run away from sin.
*PRAYER POINTS*
1. Every form of darkness in my life and family, depart now, in Jesus’ name.
2. Lord Jesus, more than You have ever done, reveal Yourself to me, today.
3. Lord, let the light of Your Son, Jesus, shine upon me and let His glory help me.
